Mange Tout is a popular French-run eatery in Brighton, offering Gallic classics and daily specials from breakfast to dinner. This charming independent brunch spot serves popular dishes like eggs Florentine and salmon omelettes, along with homemade juices and locally-sourced coffee. The bistro's commitment to sustainability and product quality, combined with attentive service, has made it one of Brighton's prime breakfast spots.
The best eggs Royal I've ever had! The poached eggs were cooked perfectly. The hollandaise was a real, proper one (I've been served too many cheap mass made nasty ones before) and a generous serving of smoked salmon. I think the thick slices of sourdough bread was better than a traditional English muffin, and went better for taste and texture. Seasoned beautifully and finished with herbs. Purr pleasure on a plate! That aside, the staff are absolutely lovely, friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you for such a wonderful start to our trip into Brighton.

Where to start… Headed to Mange Tout for breakfast and were stunned by the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We ordered the croque Madame and mighty mange tout - Best breakfast we had so far. Also decided to return in the evening. Dinner even takes a step further. Crayfish toast, bavette steak & beef bourguignon were tremendous. Compliments to Joe & Asha for outstanding service!

Really lovely brunch, super clean and tidy, welcoming atmosphere, amazing service by a lovely man with a butterfly/flower tattoo (sorry I didn’t get your name) and a delicious vegetarian breakfast muffin (my photography doesn’t do it justice)… and the chai espresso martini was outrageously good! Will definitely be back:)

Came for my dad's birthday treat. Amazing food and a bustling atmosphere on Saturdays. Really enjoyed my Croque Monsieur with spinach 😋 An ideal place for a treat

Really loved the scene and vibes here on a Sunday morning . The eggs Benedict was perfect, couldn't have asked more to start the day.

A lovely find in Brighton for a French brunch and strong coffee. The service is warm and friendly and the place was buzzing on a Saturday morning! Recommended!
Kirsty M — Google review
Lots to appreciate here but felt a bit stung by the ££ number on my receipt - brunch with 2 (small-sized) hot drinks cost me £35. So be mindful if you order a ‘side’ addition to your breakfast. They are a tiny portions (eg Hollandaise (which was standard on some brunches but for some reason not included in the veggie option)) at £4 a pop.
Jon S — Google review
Having only two days in Brighton this restaurant was rated so highly we thought we must try it. My friend speaks fluent French and has a good knowledge of the cuisine so we were very much looking forward to it. Unfortunately on arrival we were spoken to in a rude and abrupt manner and decided not to stay. It just makes me a little sad because for me personally it was my first trip since the loss of my husband and for my friend who is going through some health issues. Please treat us all with some kindness it's not what you say it's the way you say it.

The Breakfast Club in Brighton is a trendy restaurant known for its American-style breakfasts, creative cocktails, and lively weekend brunch events. The vibrant interior features rich colors, velvet sofas, and retro diner vibes. The menu offers a variety of all-day dishes including huevos rancheros, fried chicken and bacon waffles, and an array of bloody marys. Their famous pancake stacks are consistently delicious with options like fruit and whipped vanilla cream or peanut butter and jam.
Really great breakfast, had the 2 egg option with sides and some of those homemade potatoes (which were gorgeous). The beans had a lovely cajun, smokey taste and the eggs were poached perfectly. Plus Sourdough! Sitting outside on the picnic bench was a perfect way to start the day and watch as Brighton rouses itself. Booking recommended (especially for breakfast). Staff were all courteous and professional. No complaints!
Steven B — Google review
It's a simple and shabby American-style breakfast shop with no decoration or atmosphere. I was searching for places to eat pancake in Brighton early in the morning, and Google Maps recommended it to me. I ordered blueberry pancake and hamburgers. The pancake were very dry, with a texture as if everything was broken,The bacon was delicious. The breakfast hamburger tastes good. After finishing the meal and settling the bill, it turned out that only credit cards were accepted, not cash. But as a tourist, I don't have a card. I only have 50 pounds in cash! Finally, I went to a small shop nearby and exchanged 10 pounds in cash for the meal fee 💷38.12 pounds, I gave 40 pounds, and no change could be given to me. A really bad experience. I'm extremely dissatisfied!! Because in my country, it is illegal to refuse cash or change!!

Had an excellent service and breakfast as usual here. Served by a lovely woman called Sophia who was super attentive, friendly and speedy with service. Food was fantastic went for my fav the smashed avo with homemade beans and hash browns!! Highly recommend. Atmosphere is also fab here

I had the chicken, waffles and bacon and I have to say, it was superb. It was cooked beautifully (the chicken breast in particular blew me away, very tender and succulent). “I want it that way” started playing over the speakers and me and my mate started singing along to it. There was this one waitress that noticed and gave us a little cheer and applause. She came over and we had a brief little chat about the song - I’d shout her out here if I knew her name. I liked her energy - a nice genuine chill vibe. I’ll definitely be coming back again.

Great selection of American - style breakfasts. The shakshuka was very good and I loved that it came with avocado on toast. Food wait was quite a while, we’d already finished coffees before it arrived. A cosy and unique place to try - but quite expensive. Nearly £24 for a coffee and breakfast. There are lots of optional extras which soon add up. Overall a good experience for brunch. Large portions but if you’re looking for a healthier/ lighter breakfast go elsewhere.

So after coming back to Brighton after many years off after initially coming to visit my uni pal numerous times but never really properly exploring, I’m glad to say I’ve found the greatest breakfast. Reasonably priced, good quality and amazing service. Credit to the lad with the shaved head and beard who appeared to be the manager. We definitely will be back here 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

One of the best places for breakfast in Brighton! We came from quite a long way just to try The Breakfast Club, and it was absolutely worth it. The food was fresh, delicious, and creative — every dish was full of flavour, and the coffee really stood out with its rich taste. We did have a small issue with the seating, but we shared our feedback with the café manager, Jack, who was fantastic. He handled it with great professionalism, apologized sincerely, and made sure we left happy. Overall, we highly recommend this place — amazing food, great coffee, and wonderful people! Thanks Jack!

Lucky Beach Cafe is a popular casual eatery located on the seafront in Brighton. It offers outside seating and a brunch menu, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed dining experience. The cafe is known for its commitment to sustainability and serves up a selection of British fare, including some of the best fish and chips in town. With its chic 100-seater restaurant, Lucky Beach provides an intimate and laid-back atmosphere with stunning views.
Honestly, this might have been the best breakfast we’ve ever had—and we’ve eaten a lot of breakfasts. The atmosphere? Chef’s kiss. The service? Friendlier than your nan after two cups of tea. And where else can you start your day with crab and tacos? It’s like brunch took a tropical holiday and brought back souvenirs for your taste buds. 10/10, would crab again.
Charlotte M — Google review
We came as a big group and a lot of us had a really pleasant experience. The honey chicken burger was incredible and the fish and chips were as good. The drinks however came served with a bug in both. When we asked about one of the drinks the lady serving us said that it was a passion fruit seed. However I had a Pepsi max and had the same bug in my drink. I was shocked by the amount of chips in the hot chip bowl. For 4 pound you should be getting at least 1 serving of chips. I think I counted about 15 chips. I also asked if they had different sizing for the T-shirts and the girl serving us said I’m not sure but I’m sure we do.. I would have thought she would check at least. I don’t like complaining, but her costumer service really wasn’t great. However we did have great service from two of the other staff members. Overall I’m a bit disappointed because I’ve heard really good things.
Kelly K — Google review
Varied thoughts on this place. It is a great location on the beach in Brighton, somewhat understandably not cheap. Most of the food was well presented and good quality. The French toast was our least favourite- the ganache was split, the toast was burnt, and the toppings were frugal. The English breakfast was much better. The crab Benedict was not to my taste, but was well cooked and presented - I just didn’t think the flavours combined well. The Tea was served in great little metal pots (don’t burn yourself) which were generous and lovely. The service was excellent - quick and cheerful.

We had such a wonderful time here! The food was absolutely amazing – so fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully colourful. It really felt like a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds. A special mention to Ollie, who was so lovely and friendly, making the whole experience even better. The warm service paired with the stunning beachside views made this café a real gem. Can’t wait to come back – highly recommend!

I came here during pride and the staff were amazing. So sweet and caring, everybody were in such great spirits and really welcomed in everybody and made them feel taken care of. The food was fresh and wonderfully crafted. I had the lucky catch which was calamari with fish & chips as well as mushy peas with a spin. I had some of their handcrafted nonalcoholic drinks. The passion fruit spritz & the ginger one were great. The alcoholic drinks looked great but I had to work later so we kept it PG. I enjoyed everything 10/10. They’re right by the beach as well so there was beautiful scenery all around.
Alexi W — Google review
The staff were so lovely, and quick. We sat inside up the stairs to get away from the wind, but to still lookout over the beach, this was not an issue for our server who ran up and down with our drinks and food. The food 1000/10, me and my husband shared the ‘Lucky Catch’ which was large fish and calamari with chips, mushy peas and dips. It is not a sharing platter, but just enough for the two of us to have a nice sized lunch. The batter on the fish, calamari and the surprise bits of either butternut squash or sweet potato, was so crisp and delicious. The fries were lovely and salty and the mushy peas, soooo buttery!! This is a must go just for the peas!! Along with two ciders and a Pepsi max, I would say it is not a bad price.
Alyx W — Google review
The place was lovely, very quick services, seated and bought drinks super quick. The slushy cocktail was very tasty. We ordered the local fish and chips. And I'm having a hard time believing the fish as enough fish for one person. "Quality over quantity", the quality was tasty, but I wasn't convinced by the quantity. It was nice, but nothing to shout about, and definitely not at £18.40. sorry! I live in London, I'm used to prices. I'd like some fish with my fish and chips please. Lucky Beach did reply to pass feedback to the kitchen. I edited my review to add compliments to the service and I think the edit removed Lucky Beaches reply.
Sammy J — Google review
I love Lucky Beach. Thank you Lucy for serving great coffee and a lovely breakfast. I had the fresh crab benedict and parmesan hash browns. This place could be considered pricey, especially for a group, but it's a lovely treat and a really nice place to relax. It might be cloudy in Brighton this morning, but it's a sunny warm atmosphere at Lucky Beach.

Moksha Caffe is a unique and vibrant independent coffee shop located near St Peters Church in the North Laine area of Brighton. Since 2007, it has been a popular spot for families, offering a bright atmosphere and delicious dishes. The cafe's spacious interiors provide a relaxed setting for visitors of all ages. The menu focuses on serving excellent breakfast and brunch options, including fluffy American-style pancakes and a thoughtful kids menu.
Delicious spot for brunch, I had the Chorizo hash, my partner had the American fluffy pancakes. I thoroughly enjoyed my dish. Tasty, well presented, good portion size. Loved the chickpeas and onion running through the dish. I’m not a pancake lover but we’re told they were ok. Service was friendly, we ordered 2 dirty chai’s also delicious. They make their own hot sauce and you definitely should order a sparkling lemonade. Would I go again? I would! You should☺️

Was seated very quickly and the staff was really friendly and helpful. I got a delicious vegan fried tofu burger that came with chips with the skin on. The burger was great, soft and nice vegan bun. The chips were alright, not my favourite in cut or flavour but decent.

Absolutely blown away! Last minute find as we randomly travelled to Brighton for the day with no plan! My favourite cafe was already closed by the time we decided to eat. So I hit Google and Moksha popped up! The menu was very inclusive of my group so we drove straight there! Absolutely beautiful, the food is spot on! Served hot, baked and cooked to perfect! The plant based options were delicious very very delicious! The flavours, mouth water, my meat eating friends absolutely devoured my plant based options aaannnnnddd the banana bread! Wow! Oh yeah and the hash browns! Love love love! This is a new Brighton! Lastly take a read of their story online it made the whole experience even more impressive x

First time trying Moksha after hearing only good things!! We were seated promptly by a friendly staff member, and we didn’t have to wait long to order. The menu here is extensive, and the Autumn specials sounded absolutely incredible - I chose the Eggs Benedict and a coconut matcha flat white, while my husband ordered Huevos Rancheros and a fresh carrot and turmeric juice. The matcha was really good - very flavoursome and excellently frothed coconut milk! The brunch itself left a little to be desired though - the amount of Hollandaise sauce was pretty stingy for a dish which prides itself on it, and the sauce itself lacked that delicious tangy richness that pairs so well with eggs and bacon. I added some of Moksha’s own hot sauce to make up for the flavour and lack of sauce - this was really tasty. The muffins seemed homemade and were absolutely delicious, but were slightly undercooked and doughy in the centre which was a shame. I couldn’t fault the eggs or bacon, both were cooked to perfection. On the flipside, my husband’s Huevos Rancheros was a complete success - the portion was so large he struggled to finish it and the flavours were spectacular, from the smoky chorizo to the crispy tortilla and mountain of fresh guacamole. He said it’s the best brunch he’s had in his life, so I think this was the better item to order!! The atmosphere is buzzy and welcoming, and the service is quick and friendly. I would happily return to Moksha to try a different brunch item or a burger (these looked unreal!) 😇✨
Georgie H — Google review
Lovely place! The black pudding and hash browns literally had me drooling over my boyfriends food- they were delicious and so was my egg’s royale. Highly recommend the big breakfast!
Eleni — Google review
I have been to Moksha so many times that I've lost count. I've just continued to fail to leave a review, which I think it's important to do for small businesses - I got round to it eventually! The food is always consistent, fresh, hot and of course - extremely yummy. They have a very good variety of options on the menu too. Moksha is always very busy if you go on peak days and times (the weekend), you can guarantee you'll need to wait in a queue before getting seated. However, I've found that I'm never waiting more than 15 minutes for a table of 2-4. I would definitely recommend Moksha for a fresh, hot and tasty meal!
ItsChanny — Google review
Great funky restaurant. Really enjoyed their Half Breakfast (served all day). As well as the freshly juiced apple juice. Staff were cheerful and helpful, and prices are reasonable. Sorry already started to eat before I took a picture :)
Mark R — Google review
Moksha has become our go-to breakfast place every time we visit Brighton from London – and this visit marked our fourth over the past few years. What keeps drawing us back is the consistent standard of both the food and the service, which is no small feat. On this occasion, I had the Eggs Benedict, which were absolutely delicious. My partner ordered the Huevos Benedictos – a creative and flavourful twist on the classic. Moksha clearly takes pride in using high-quality ingredients; even the muffins used in their Benedict dishes are unique and far superior to the usual fare – we’ve never come across anything quite like them elsewhere. A particularly nice touch was the sprinkle of healthy seeds over the Benedict – an unexpected detail that worked beautifully. The bacon was perfectly balanced too – not overly salty, which is ideal for anyone mindful of their sodium intake. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming, which really adds to the experience. Moksha continues to be a standout breakfast spot in Brighton, and we recommend it wholeheartedly.

Lost in the Lanes is a contemporary café located in the vibrant Brighton Lanes. It offers a minimalist setting and serves simple yet high-quality brunch dishes, including classics like smoky beans on sourdough and vanilla French toast, as well as more unique options such as avocado toast with pomegranate and cured Chalkstream trout on toasted dark rye.
Beautiful interior and great food. The tumeric latte was really good and the staff were super friendly. The brioche breakfast was soft!

Nice, but not sure I’d go back. It’s a lovely space with kind service, and I enjoyed the experience overall—but for the price, it didn’t quite hit. The food was good, not great. With so many options in Brighton, I’m not sure it stands out enough to return. The biggest letdown was the matcha. I asked for it extra strong, paid £2 more, and could already tell by the pale color it wasn’t high quality. Watery, diluted, and disappointing. That said, the setting is charming and the vibe is nice—it just didn’t deliver enough to justify the price.
Joei C — Google review
Very cute place. Got strawberry matcha and butcher's breakfast. Butcher's breakfast was a bit too salty/peppered to my taste, but otherwise good. I'd mix up a bit more of fresh bits into it to balance it out. Wasn't crowded at all on a Friday morning, while a few other places nearby were packed.
Mila G — Google review
By rating this 3 star, I’m not saying that I didn’t enjoy this. The presentation and design of this place is stunning, and I would highly recommend going if you’re looking to get a decent brunch. I just wasn’t overly impressed by the flavours or taste of the overall meal. It was all style really.

We made a last-minute stop at this cute brunch spot tucked off the main street, and it did not disappoint. The service was so friendly, and the food came out quickly. I started with the matcha lime tonic, then we shared the eggs benedict and the veggie English breakfast... both were incredible! Every component was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Honestly, one of the best brunches I’ve ever had. Would 10000% recommend!

14th September £100 total What’s in a name? The short answer is quite a lot. For reasons of happy personal circumstance it’s a question very much front of mind at the moment; I’ve been picking my way through the thorny thicket of negative onomastic association recently (a particular moniker forever reminding me of a particular Monica, for example) and contemplating the plausibility of nominative determinism (is a child with the name of an old lady destined to act like an old lady from birth?). So yes Bill, perhaps a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but that doesn’t mean that when Mich suggested dinner at Lost in the Lanes I was able to easily set aside my initial impression we’d be eating in a coffee shop. Because that’s what it sounds like it is. Even when I went online and looked at the menu and found evidence of proper cooking in the imaginative small plates there (see: salmon pastrami with gooseberry, samphire and peas), there was something inside me bracing itself for one of those ham and cheese toasties out of a plastic wrap. But I was quickly able to shed my slightly bizarre associative complex when we got there. Because it doesn’t look like a coffee shop - even though, mind-bendingly, it also is one - to the point I’m now wondering how I’d feel having a morning pastry in there. It looks modern and chic, with lots of open space, dried flowers and single bulbs on long wires hanging from wooden beams on the ceiling, a cut-out in the wall through to the kitchen - that kind of thing. And in the flesh the menu helped too, because there were about a million things on there I wanted to eat. We eschewed the large plates entirely, as much to save room for variety as any other reason, and before long there was no room for elbows on our little circular marble tabletop; in a bout of FOMO I kept calling the waitress back to add things to our order and rather than describe them all individually my overall reflection was this: sometimes sampling lots of little things can reflect worse on the standard of cooking than if we’d just gone olives-bread-starter-main. Comparison is, of course, the thief of joy, but when Mich and I are eating smorgasbords it’s absolutely in our nature to rank each dish against one another, and unavoidably there are those that don’t quite hit the spot as well as others. Negativity bias then perhaps leaves a feeling of lesser satisfaction than if the one big main had been served with the same quality as the average across a range of tasting plates. And there really was a range of quality in what we ate, I thought. The toursi tasted like the pickling process had sucked all the life and flavour out of the veg (and having figs in there was just weird), whereas the feta cigars and that first bite of bombette were perfect. There was a fair bit of middle-of-the-road stuff too. But then speaking of negativity bias, I ordered a cheesecake when I don’t usually order dessert, and… it just wasn’t one. It was a sort of chocolate mousse (with no mention of chocolate on the menu) layered on top of a bit of cream cheese, which I tried to scrape off and salvage, and no base. I left with that annoying feeling of unsatiated, unsatisfied fullness, and lost amongst that was any memory of the stuff Lost in the Lanes had done really well.

Rockwater Hove is a trendy beachfront destination in Brighton, offering a relaxed atmosphere and delicious meals. Located in the heart of Hove, it features two restaurants - a Bar and Kitchen and a Roof Terrace with stunning views. The venue is perfect for enjoying cocktails during sunset. With an extensive menu including pizzas, burgers, and healthy bowls, the Bar and Kitchen is an ideal spot to start your visit.
Popped in for the Easter Sunday roast. Service was great, staff were really friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is excellent with sea views as the building is as close to beachfront as you can get. Great place to meet friends, have a drink and enjoy life. The food was probably the only downer here. Portions were generous, but my lamb roast was over-cooked (super chewy) and the meals were generally dry (not enough gravy). We chose not to have dessert because the mains disappointed. 8/10 recommend.

The food was absolutely excellent; by far and away the best fresh seafood dishes we’ve had in the area, all prepared fantastically. The views and atmosphere were lovely, too! We’ve visited in the past, and will definitely be back! Highly recommended! Thank you Tim and team for a wonderful evening!

We celebrated my mother’s 80th birthday at Rockwater and couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening. The staff gave us a beautiful table in a quieter zone, which was ideal for my mother who wears hearing aids—such a thoughtful touch. The food was absolutely excellent. My mum and dad both had the fish and chips, which they loved, and I had the steak. The chips were so delicious I ended up stealing them from three other plates—I just couldn’t get enough! For dessert, the mango sorbet was a standout: intensely flavourful, refreshing, and a true delight to end the meal. Special mention must go to our waitress Vicky, who was incredibly attentive throughout the evening, and Daniel, who helped serve our food with charm and humour—he really added to the celebration. Rockwater was the perfect setting to celebrate a milestone birthday, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food, thoughtful service, and a memorable experience

The oysters are delicious! The place is beautiful, but we waited so long... It seemed like they went to catch those oysters for us😂 I was also a little upset by the menu for children, I didn't really like it, it looked like it came from a shop. In general, everything is not bad.

Nice looking restaurant with a good view but was quite disappointed by the gluten free options, found out after ordering a gluten free burger that they couldn’t do it gluten free, was offered a salad instead which came with less food than the gluten option but cost the same. Similar with desert, the “gluten free” pudding had something removed to make it actually gluten free despite the menu saying it was gluten free rather than something that would be adapted to be made gluten free. The desert itself was quite unpleasant as the poached pear was really hard and the honeycomb was burnt. Similar issue with the salad I had as my main which was incredibly acidic. Overpriced and staff didn’t really check on our food so we didn’t get to comment until we were done. I’d come back for drinks but that’s all.

Excellent dinner with fabulous views. We were walk-ins and Lindsey, our maitre'd kindly gave us a table overlooking the beach and gave us excellent service, he was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Wine was a little pricey byt was excellent. Lovely venue and decor as well.

Went for my friend’s birthday drinks on the terrace & had the most amazing cocktails/food! Started off with some chilli margs & sampled some of the new startets off the summer menu - delicious! Everything was perfect & a big shout out to Tim & Rich for making it even more special for my friend’s birthday with exceptional service from the get go! Cannot recommend this place enough for any occasion!

It's known for its fine dining experience, especially for brunch, featuring a unique weekend brunch menu with options like cured smoked salmon, eggs benedict, pancakes, and baked miso aubergine.
Lunch with cocktails, wonderful food, great place to eat, friendly, attentive, professional staff. Highly recommend it here. We sat outside, as it was too warm inside, but I think that's because I'm menopausal rather than anything the restaurant can do. What I saw of it, was Beautiful inside.

Lovely place to have a date or dine with groups of friends or have celebrations be it birthdays, anniversaries etc. ..the food was great. Waiters were super friendly, nice , polite and professional. They make very good cocktails. Only thing I didn't appreciate was the vegan menu. They don't make it available like they do other menus. But they let you know that it's available. Unfortunately, I asked for it and I was told it would be brought to me but they never brought it. So has to settle for something manageable on the main menu. Also, you pay extra service charge if at all you want vegan menu. I think this should be looked into because it's a lovely restaurant.

Noise levels were very high inside. Outside was nice and relaxing. As with all Ivy,s your expectations are high. I felt a slight hesitation on behalf of the staff that serviced me. However as the meal processed they warmed and became more attentive. (I am a person of colour) Food was outstanding. Well done as normal.

The food was okay. I had the Duck curry which had very mild flavours for my Indian palette. The service was nice, even though it was quite slow. We arrived at 6:30PM and we left around 9:15PM. We had 2 rounds of drinks, a main, and a dessert. It was also bit too warm in there. The ambiance was quite nice to be fair.

The food, cocktails, service, decor... everything was brilliant. We had a fantastic time out for a friends birthday. Definitely recommend. Worth the money for sure.

You are definitely paying a premium price at The Ivy, but for that we received excellent and professional service and the atmosphere was very special. The lights were dimmed, there was a live singer and we were made to feel very welcome. The food was good - not exceptional, but very nice and of a high quality. In our party we tried the vegetarian curry, the salmon and the scallops linguine and everything was very good. The desserts equally so. This is not a cheap evening meal, but you are paying for the experience and the great service.

We had dinner with cocktails here and really enjoyed the experience. The food was very good, and the crème brûlée was definitely my favorite. The restaurant was quite busy, but the staff stayed attentive and friendly, making sure everything went smoothly. We were seated inside, and the atmosphere was lively yet comfortable. Overall, it’s a great place to eat, and I can definitely recommend it.

Visited this restaurant fir lunch in a Thursday 11:30, was greeted very politely by a lady. Was seated in a quiet area which I requested. We were then served by another taller lady of colour. The service we received was rather appalling. When cutlery was laid down after our order, it was sort of ‘ placed roughly’ very nosy. I was having a conversation with my husband, and all I could hear were the clicking of the forks and knives’. Order was taken very abruptly, food was placed on table without even a turn of head to check if ‘is there anything else I could get you’. This is not the sort of service you expect from a good restaurant. Food came rather quickly which was good. My fillet steak came perfectly to my satisfaction. My husband had the ‘ivy burger’ which was good too. It is a shame that a perfectly planned lunch appointment was ruined by just this one server. May I suggest she goes back to training, if that is not possible, she could go to the back so as not to annoy customers. She is obviously not too happy to work or to serve customers. She has this ‘sour’ looking face. For the price we pay for lunch, I really expected better service. At least, with a smile.

Nestled in the charming corner of Ship Street, it provides an ideal setting to soak in the vibrant atmosphere of Brighton. The cafe has multiple locations across the city including one near the station on Queens Road and their newest venue in Hove on Church Road.
Chilled cafe, with a lovely vibe. Food was delicious (we had Turkish Eggs and Coho breakfast) and service friendly and quick. Music on in the background, very much to my taste. We came back the next day as we had enjoyed it so much the first time. We had two breakfasts and two coffees and it came to £35.

Such a charming café with a cozy vibe! While we didn’t make a reservation, we were lucky to snag a table by the window definitely a spot worth hoping for! The hot chocolate was comforting, and the desserts were enjoyable, though not extraordinary. So, a lovely place to relax and indulge in a sweet treat with a beautiful atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!

I am very happy I visited coho and here are the reasons: The Staff was excellent, very kind and fast, 3 different members of staff helped us either by taking an order for the table or bringing extra water. Everyone simply kind. The food: It was great! I included pictures. Me and my gluttonous friends decided to get a dish for each and then an extra for the table as we all wanted to try the Coho French Toast. I am very happy with the food. The eggs had the perfect egg yolk (for me) and I know people can be tough to satisfy when it comes to it and the French toast was amazing. The menu has all the classic options for Brunch. There’s also a backyard that’s outside and we didn’t know about it until after we left but it looked beautiful for a sunny day! Highly recommend this place, especially for the great service. It’s opposite Hixon Green that despite having good food has awful service. I am very happy and can’t wait to go again!

In my efforts to try as many coffees in Brighton during my two days visit, had breakfast here. Loved the decor / style and outdoor terrace and menu choice but I have had much better coffee elsewhere (my flat white came in a way too big cup), and scrambled eggs were ok but a little too wet for my personal taste. Still, great service and location are worth stopping by for sure

Lovely cafe with quite a varied but straightforward menu. Something for everyone. The service was a little slow getting drinks but once we'd asked they were quick to sort it. The tables outside are close together so it can feel a bit squished. We went on a Saturday morning and it was very busy. The food was lovely! Portions were generous and the quality was really good. The coffee was lovely. If you're a coffee snob, this would absolutely suit!

Visited for a coffee last year and had an amazing brew, revisiting Brighton with good friends and a serious coffee lover I thought I had knew the perfect place. We decided to stop for coffee and breakfast but sadly after a 15 minute wait the coffee finally arrived only just warm, breakfast then arrived another 15 minutes later and just as the coffee was the breakfast too had elements that were barely warm. There was seven of us and 4 of our party had breakfast with sausage, 3 out of the 4 of us left the sausage as it seemed to be not just on the cold side but also had the appearance that it hadn’t spent much time in the pan/oven. Could it just be a coincidence that the one of us that did eat the sausage ended up being violently sick that evening ? It’s not difficult to cook a sausage but as you can see from the photo the trading post do have some culinary learning to do.

I spent 3 days in Brighton recently and ended up eating breakfast here every morning. The coffee was outstanding! The food was great too. Over 3 mornings I tried the vegan rarebit, the plant-based granola bowl and the plant-based full English (minus the falafels & houmous as I didn't fancy that for breakfast). I also got a sandwich to take away - Korean BBQ mushrooms on foccacia. Everything was freshly made, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious.

Have just returned from enjoying the tastiest breakfast here! We were looking for somewhere do friendly for myself, my parents and my brother and his partner to meet and catch up but we were hoping to bring our 10 month old German Shepherd pup too. They couldn't have been more chilled and accommodating if they tried. Firstly, the staff were so lovely and friendly, super chilled with Bella, bringing her a bowl of water when we arrived and so kind when she wasn't totally aware how much space her puppy butt was taking up. The food was amazing, the smoothies tasted great and when we ordered a sausage for the pup, it was provided in a cute lil cup of her own and helped keep laying down and learning to be calm in public places. I ordered the chorizo eggs (Photo) and I would wholeheartedly recommend. We will absolutely be returning in the near future!

A great little place in a great location. The coffee was very good, had the black pearl, but the breakfast was one of the best I’ve had. The bake beans alone were exceptional. This wondrous meal was followed by a Bloody Mary, which could’ve been a little spicier but still tasty. I would highly recommend this locale for your next breakfast.

Popped into Baked in Hove for lunch and had the Halloumi Focaccia—so good! The focaccia was nice and toasty, the halloumi was grilled just right, and the chilli jam gave it a great little kick. Loved the mix with the roasted tomatoes and rocket too. Bonus points for the mini hash browns on the side—super crispy and totally hit the spot. Chill vibe and friendly staff. Will definitely be back!

Gosh, incredibly expensive average food. The waitresses were attentive and well trained (probably before they worked here), that’s where the good stuff ends. The poached eggs were delivered over cooked, we sent them back to be replaced fairly promptly with soft yolks. The pancakes were okay, the maple butter on the menu wasn’t in evidence, the maple syrup was scarce, the fresh fruit portion was minuscule. The tea was over £4, I can’t remember the exact price, but as I drink black tea, I didn’t even get milk, just hot water and tea leaves for £4 odd. The tap water was iced, and arrived promptly. £43 for two average breakfasts and 2 teas was a very expensive morning. To top it all, we witnessed a hostile and toxic child exchange between clearly estranged parents, we really felt for the two little girls. At another table they were reading the Express, and (as is their right - to free speech) discussing immigration from a racist perspective. We will not be going there again.
Brian M — Google review
Food was excellent but asked for ham to be swapped for bacon and was told I could. However when the bill arrived I had been charged an extra £3.50 for two rashers of bacon. When queried I was told they don’t do swaps - should have been told when I ordered. No reduction for not having the ham. The waitress did apologise but the other staff member I spoke to just shrugged her shoulders. Not sure I will return!

Myself and my adult daughter came to Brighton for a few days very recently we were looking for somewhere to eat and when looking online bills caught our eye the menu was extensive and the place looked really nice. We booked for that evening and we are so glad that we did go the place is beautiful. The atmosphere is nice it’s Busy but not overwhelming and noisy. The menu is in my opinion very varied and extensive. They do some fantastic cocktails and I would recommend the raspberry jam on toast cocktail. It’s beautiful. The service is very Reasonably timed the staff are polite and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble and I’d like to give a special shout out to James and Marco just for being great hosts. We will definitely visit again when we’re back.

Simply great! Popped in for breakfast on Saturday morning and it was brilliant! Soothing atmosphere, lovely music! The quality, the taste, the service! Tom made sure we had everything we needed. Very polite, smiley, checked on us few times as well. Very helpful when we asked how to book a Christmas meal too! Thank you!

Bill’s beer was great—smooth and definitely one of the highlights. The Caesar salad was a letdown, though. The chicken had a burnt smell, and the overall taste was quite bland. There was no anchovy flavor at all, and I had to ask for extra dressing. The burger was tasty, but unfortunately, I found a strand of blonde hair in the last bite, which really spoiled the experience. The staff did offer a discount, which I appreciated. Be aware that there’s a 12.5% service charge. The service was minimal—they only brought the food to the table but didn’t pour or refill drinks. I hope this service charge is shared fairly among all staff and not just kept by the owner.

We came in for a friend’s birthday and the overall experience was quite lovely! We all ordered the bottomless pancakes and the variety was lovely, there were dubai chocolate, berries and cream, biscoff, streaky bacon and finally triple chocolate pancakes. My personal favourite was the berries and cream as the berries were quite tart and to my taste. Me and my friend also very much liked the coconut matcha latte! The service was lovely as well, very attentive. Our server Liam especially, he was very nice and our group enjoyed his service!

The service was outstanding, I felt very welcomed and catered to by Marya at the Brighton branch this morning. Went in for breakfast, the first employee greeted me warmly with a genuine smile and I was given options when seated, as a single diner this is always very welcome as you’re not made to feel like a burden that has to automatically take the smallest space available. I was made to feel like a valued customer and was checked on an appropriate amount without it feeling overwhelming. The other customers including a very large hen party, were all very polite, friendly and respectful- maybe the venue and atmosphere attracts and fosters these behaviours, I was very appreciative of this. The decor makes a big space cosy. The faculties are clean and easy to access. The food was good, the eggs were perfect the sourdough could have been better and the beans were once house made I think they must be tin now, but I appreciated the reduced sugar content. The tea and soya milk were perfect, now you’d think that should be easy enough everywhere but it’s not! All in all not the cheapest but I would say value for money and I’m happy to return for the service alone. Thank you for starting my day well.

I hadn’t originally planned to pop in but I remembered their Instagram and promptly entered the cafe. I was not disappointed! My slice of blackout cake was some of the nicest chocolate cake I’ve ever had! My hot chocolate was lovely too. Both tasted gorgeous and not sickly sweet either. They were just right! Not only was my cake amazing, but so was the service. The staff were ever so friendly and polite, which made me, as a visitor who doesn’t like to annoy locals, feel very warmly welcomed. Such a lovely place! The interior is gorgeous and the garden is a little oasis (I would recommend sitting out there). The food was delicious- we got the eggs benedict with pulled pork, hashbrowns (a little overpriced for what it is) and schnitzel. Our waiter wasn’t good unfortunately although quite sweet. All other service was great! We ordered some coffees before food yet he only put through the coffee order once we ordered food so it took ages to come. We really had a good time though and would definitely recommend it!

We as a small group of 3 friends went in on a Friday evening in busy July as we saw advertised outside that it was half price Fajita Friday & happy hour before 9 pm (not cocktails, just money off beers & spirits) so we ordered 1/2 price fajitas & reduced price ciders. My friends had chicken, they said it was very good, I chose the steak, it was so tough it was impossible to chew, it went around in my mouth forever, could not break it down so just had to swallow it in the end, very tough indeed, would not recommend, my friend complained on my behalf but they didn't offer to try to cook it anymore if that would've helped I don't know, they just said sorry. The additional condiments to they offered to make the fajitas weren't enough for the 3 of us. The music was awful & deafeningly loud, we couldn't hear each other talk ! The clientele left a lot to be desired. Would not want to return.

Made my best friends birthday incredibly special! Great service, very attentive! Lovely food and great selection of drinks! Really recommend the bottomless brunch! Gray and Brad made our experience fantastic!

Myself and a group of 12 friends had a an Abba bottomless brunch that was booked and it was cancelled as we arrived to venue..We was all dressed up in Abba fancy dress, so we quickly had to find another Brunch to book which I booked Charles Street 1 hour before our chosen time slot that was available. When we turned up, there was a slight issue of the booking not showing up as they need 24- 48 hours notice and they was pretty booked up. The manager luckily worked things out and let us in. All of staff was brilliant and very attentive, the food was amazing, and cocktails were also really nice! Everyone left very happy, thank you for making our day flow better 😄

Went here to enjoy a fun LGBTQ+ night. However, the act mocked lesbians which we did not expect in a place like Brighton. We instead visited the market inn with a fabulous karaoke night where everyone was accepted and could enjoy themselves without judgement - something I thought Brighton was all about!

Nestled just a short stroll from the sparkling sea, Cafe Marmalade has become a beloved spot for both locals and visitors in Brighton. This charming café stands out by offering a refreshing twist on breakfast, steering clear of the traditional English fare. Instead, patrons can indulge in delightful options like grilled tomatoes with rocket on toast drizzled with pesto or crumpets slathered in berry butter.
This place deserves more praise - what a lovely lovely cafe. I visited today and ended up staying for a good few hours working because I didn’t want to leave! The place is Italian inspired but lives by no rules, serving up a whole host of cafe foods, from breakfast to brunch to sandwiches and some banging lunch options too, alongside the huge selection of cakes and bakes and sweet treats. Fully stoked like a deli with fine, local and homemade pantry items, the place is a foodie dreamland! The dhal soup of the day was UNREAL. So flavourful, creamy, and the perfect consistency. A large salad plate full of veggies and hearty salads was a healthy and filling choice too. I also had a creamy and delicious pumpkin spiced latte, though it was a little lacking in pumpkin flavour. The staff were lovely, attentive and the perfect amount of welcoming and chatty, checking up on my food and drinks and quickly taking away used plates and cups. Not to mention the atmosphere, which is bustling and busy given the small space, but charming and cosy! What a cafe, what a place, and the owners should be proud 😁

A great, cozy coffee shop which is the only place in Kemptown that is open later than 4pm!!!! They have a lovely selection of salads (the chickpea broccoli salad was amazing), and loads of toasties but I wish they had a vegan toastie I could’ve had. They do have a couple of vegan cakey treats (today I had the salted caramel flapjack which was lush, but I’ve had their peanut butter loaf cake before which was also delish!). They also have a little grocery selection which is very fancy. I kind of find it funny people moaning about them not taking cash. Isn’t that pretty standard these days for smaller businesses?

Best Quiche ever had! And the vegan Choco loaf is a must try! It tastes like…an Oreo-velvet cake! Staff were friendly, the vibe of the cafe was easy and cozy~

Amazing place for great food and drinks! Very cosy, stylish and delicious! I want to stay there all day. 😊 I went for full breakfast, with rustic bread toasts, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and avocado. ( sorry, eat it before take a picture 👀) Then I have a juice of the day: beetroot, apple, lemon, ginger and turmeric. Yummy! Fantastic coffee! They’ve got alcoholic and not alcoholic cocktails as well. You can buy plenty of homemade items like jams, honey, bread, organic olive oil, cookies, eggs, fruits, chocolates etc. Highly recommend to visit. It located in Kemptown, close to Royal Sussex County Hospital.

A real gem of a cafe about a 10 minutes walk from Brighton College and 5 minutes from the hospital. One of those places that is so good you almost don’t want people to know about it…one of the best coffees I have ever had and the scrambled eggs with crispy bacon was…amazing. It’s a deli and a wine bar in the evening so food choices are very impressive (omg have just seen donuts arrive). Lots of pay by phone parking nearby and unlike a lot of cafes nearby it doesn’t close at 5pm. Highly recommended.
Graham S — Google review
Today I was served by the nicest man. He went out of his way to describe all of the food to me, and was really helpful. The food was fantastic, really fresh, very flavourful and healthy but feels like a treat. Also, had a freshly squeezed juice, which actually tasted like the ingredients in it! It wasn't water down with a load of ice, and the ginger was punchy. Sometimes the staff there, when I've popped in for a coffee, can be a little bit surly, not as friendly as this guy. But I think sometimes you get back a little bit where people have a slight snooty air because they're serving coffee and fashionable food! But this is a great place overall presented beautifully and also feels affordable for an ordinary worker. Not cheap, but not OTT like some very average local places.

Lovely cafe with really good food and drink options. Great location down from the hospital with bus links. Really nice atmosphere perfect for reading with a coffee and cake. A little bit expensive but worth it.

The quiche and salad was delicious - big portions and huge variety in the salad - I'd happily have eaten it all again if I wasn't so full! Friendly cosy atmosphere. Cakes looked great. Will definitely go again. Few mins walk from the Royal Sussex Hospital.

The cafe Egg and Spoon is a local favorite, known for its heavenly brunches. The eclectic menu features items like a Cuban sandwich made of pulled pork and salami, scrambled eggs with chili, sweet potato and spinach dahl, and various other sandwiches and wraps. There's also sweet and savory waffles on the menu to choose from. If you're looking for brunch in Kemptown, head straight to Egg & Spoon!
Amazing food. I had the veggie breakfast and my husband the plant breakfast. We have travelled a lot and seriously, this cafe has set the standard. Absolutely the best breakfast and coffee we’ve ever had anywhere in the world. Well done!

What a find this place was. Very clean and nice decor. Staff were welcoming and polite. We were quite early - 9.15ish on a Sunday and had no wait for a seat. The Everything Veggie breakfast was delicious, all extremely fresh and perfectly cooked. Would 100% return next time we’re in the area.

Super dog friendly place serving up fabulous coffee and food. We had a lovely brunch with out friends weekend away 😊 I found this super dog-friendly place that serves amazing coffee ☕ and food, which is a huge win for me! This weekend, I had a lovely brunch with my friends, and it was just perfect. The atmosphere was so welcoming, especially for our furry companions 🐶. Unfortunately, only 1 vegan option which was plant based breakfast. It was very nice, possibly best I've had in a long time! No fake meat or tinned baked beans, just lots of fresh and very tasty ingredients. Little on the expensive side but was quite classy, very new Kemptown

Nice friendly atmosphere. Delicious coffee, friendly staff. Seating could be comfier and often its limited. The food is tasty, quite rich as they cover toast in butter, but yummy non the less. The music is a little too quiet for me, as can barely be heard and the cutlery isn't good quality but all in all a pleasant experience.

The cafe has a lovely cosy atmosphere with enticing cakes displayed at the counter. Menu is varied and food well presented. Chicken schnitzel was tasty as was the ham hock hash that we ordered, although I did find the hash a little on the sweet side. Also the bun with the chicken was described as brioche, but it didn’t look or taste very brioche to me - see photo and make up your own mind. Friendly and efficient service. It’s a great place to stop off for brunch or for a coffee and cake.

The West Hill Tavern, located near Brighton Station, is a vibrant and eclectic pub known for its lively weekend atmosphere with live music and DJs. The interior is surprisingly spacious and adorned with colorful walls and quirky leopard-print stools, creating a whimsical ambiance. This sought-after gastro pub offers a unique pizza concept, serving hand-stretched dough pizzas with an array of delicious toppings like Margherita and Smokey Joe.
Lovely little pub. And oh my goodness.. my favourite ever roast in Brighton. It NEVER disappoints, it’s perfect. I keep coming back, I’ve tried all the roasts and I can highly recommend all of them. The staff are very kind and attentive too.

Came here for bottomless brunch for the Second time. Pizzas are excellent. My non Gluten base was one of the best I've had. Lots of toppings with great cheese. Best bit is there are several different drinks- different mimosas and elderflower fizz and the server keeps bringing jugs. So no waiting at the bar. If you come in a large group then share pizzas as their oven is small and pizzas come out at different times. Server was very friendly. Very cool place. Best for bottomless brunch if you like pizza.

Very much my top choice of local. Nice relaxed vibes, good music, great staff and independent of the big nasty pub companies and brewery's that have snapped up much of Brighton's boozers. Could do with more vegan options on the menu but the food is good ;)

Lovely pub and staff. The Bar team are super friendly and the place has a really nice atmosphere about it. The West Hill Tavern had been recommend to me by friends after they had been there and had the Sunday roast. Needless to say the roast was every bit as nice as I had been told it was. I have already recommended it to friends and colleagues as the place to go the next time they fancy a Sunday Roast out or even a nice drink. A great little pub with a fantastic team.

'Serena' - Italian girl our waitress 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟was absolutely awesome, she is a credit to the establishment! If I owned my own restaurant I would poach her in an instant!! I have ordered sea bass, it was amazing, compliments to the chef. However, service was slow at the time I visited, and there wasn't many people indoors, the outdoor tables were definitely served quicker. Dog friendly only outside and didn't offer a bowl of water for the dog :/ one waiter who seated me was in the hurry, so didn't feel welcomed and another waiter really nice , perhaps I stopped by at the shift change at ~5pm

What an extraordinary place! Along with Pinello and The Regency, it has become my favourite place in Brighton. A mysterious wood panelled restaurant and bar which also has a fabulous terrace upstairs. They have jazz music at night. I went for a Sunday roast lunch. The food is great: I got a huge chicken ( as big as a pterodactyl!) cooked to perfection, with loads of vegetables and duck fat potatoes. I asked for a mixed berry drink so got all my vitamins too. The place caters to all tastes, the service is extremely courteous and attentive and it’s good value to boot. What more could you ask for? I couldn’t go in the evening as it was my last day in Brighton and I had to pack. But I’m definitely coming back during my next visit.

It was pouring with rain so we fell into this place when looking for somewhere to eat. What a find! The food and ambience was spot on. I had fillet steak and my friend had cod, and we both agreed that the taste and quality of the food was exceptional. Candlelit with an arty elegance, this is definitely a beautiful place to come for a lovely evening meal.

Smart restaurant just off the Lanes. Lovely big widows that give an inside/outside feel if you’re sat by the pavement. Food was good and well presented, but not remarkable. Friendly service but a bit slow.
Adam L — Google review
The food was a bit overpriced for the quantity as well as quality, we ordered the chicken satay and pan seared scallops as starters. The No 32 burger we got was nothing great for £13 BUT the cocktails were delicious (pina colada and a cosmopolitan) The ambience of the restaurant was lovely and the staff were top notch with their service.

The restaurant is huge !!! Must be great to have a party or family gathering here. We love the prawns and fried squid. However the bread I ordered was a bit burnt. The roast chicken my fried order was large portions, will suggest to share w two ppl. The fries was super good !!! Will come back for that fries again. And the bartenders looks rly cool, must try their cocktails next time 👍👍
Chiang R — Google review
We had a large table of 13 booked for a birthday, which we booked well in advanced and pre ordered all the food as requested. Considering the price point and the fact that all the food was pre ordered the experience we had was very disappointing. Upon arrival we were seated in the only section of the restaurant without functioning fans/air con. When we asked wait staff if the fans could be turned on they said they were broken but they could give us complimentary tap water and ice to keep us cool. We had about 4 different staff take drinks orders which considering the food had already been ordered one would imagine that only taking drinks orders would have been a breeze for the staff but service was slow and some of the drinks orders were incorrect. The plates from our starters had started to be cleared before some guests received their first drinks. The food aswell was mixed with some of the food being cold, specifically the lamb burgers, and the menu stated skinny fries and we all received chunky chips. The truffle fries were just the same chunky chips with some grated cheese and a small amount of truffle oil. The quality of the food didn’t match what they are charging. But the most disappointing thing was the atmosphere in general. The manager seemed nice on arrival but all the other staff we encountered seemed miserable and unhelpful like they did not want to be there and we just generally felt unwelcome.

Located in the heart of the Brighton Lanes, The Cricketers is a historic Victorian pub with an elegant upstairs bar named after author Graham Greene, who frequented this establishment. Dating back to 1547, it claims to be the oldest pub in Brighton and has a rich history, being mentioned in Greene's novel 'Brighton Rock.' The interior exudes traditional Victorian charm with plush scarlet banquettes, thick carpets, flock wallpaper, and an array of paintings.
We held our area meeting in the room above the pub. On arrival the room was all laid out ready with water and glasses. Excellent venue to hold a meeting. Big screen to hook your laptop up to. We also had lunch there and the food was fantastic. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful from start to finish. We will definitely be returning again. Great venue. Thank you

What a fantastic night yesterday!! Incredible atmosphere at the Courtyard Bar with the live music band. They played all the rock/pop hits, including Oasis songs and finished with my favourite song ever, “Mr. Brightside”! ❤️I had the absolute time of my life. Beautiful music, completely rammed (especially on the 2nd set from midnight!) with a joyous and super friendly audience. So glad I stumbled in here!! Good beer, great audience and a super tight band. Everything you’d want in a little cafe - fantastic atmosphere, strong coffee and amazing food. The cafe is small but has a good mix of larger and smaller tables (6 seemed like the max). The service is friendly but a little slow sometimes. The food here was amazing. The hash with melted cheese and the toppings was out of this world. Exactly what you’d need to start a day. This place is old school, with new school decor, cleanliness, hygiene, food service and coffee quality. I’d never had a hash but it was generous and tasty. The ingredients are quality, particularly the (local made) sausages and the waitress is so attentive, prompt and hard working. Thank you!

A gem for delicious breakfast and brunch in Brighton! I've been meaning to pop by Billie's for a while, as the café always comes up on top-rated lists for must-eat spots. Immediately greeted with super friendly staff and just that cosy/relaxed vibe. The menu is packed to the brim with delicious options - from their signature hash to to muffins and your classic fry up. Vegan and veggie options are available, too! I opted for the popular farmhouse hash - sausage, bacon, beans, pan fried with hash potatoes, topped with an egg and grilled cheese. Sounds good? IT IS. Upon first bite I said "wow" out loud. The sausage in particular is next level. The potatoes moorish and full of flavour. It just works so well. It is a little bit on the pricier side with most dishes over £10, but it is worth a bite (literally) Will definitely try other options in the future! Staff were friendly, welcoming and delivered top-notch service - Thank you team Billies!

I had the farmhouse and my girlfriend had the Irish. Both were amazing, well cooked and filled us up for the whole day. The staff were super friendly and my girlfriend had the best mocha she had ever had there. I would say the only down point was the table layout, little bit cramped.

24/08/25 Great pub on the seafront first time there. There is a cool seating area inside and the is also seats outside by the beach. A lot going on and a great atmosphere. Staff were fantastic and really friendly. Prices were fair. It’s on the seafront so you will have to find a car park to park. Tempest is an amazing pub! This review is purely in regards to their current kitchen Puffin. Not sure if I was unlucky but my £15 "roll" turned out to be a single slice of brioche bread folded in half with not a lot inside. It was tasty, but was pretty stingy portion size wise, especially for £15! It made me a bit sad.

Whenever we go on vacation, I always seek out themed or unique dining establishments. I had made advanced reservations for an indoor table at Tempest in long for 6pm. We were promptly seated without any delay, and we used a QR code to order and pay, with a server delivering our food directly to our table. The menu options were limited, as were the drink choices, although it was evident that they had a full bar and could prepare any drink. The food was delicious and the ambiance was enjoyable. It's a fantastic spot to gather with friends for drinks, but I wouldn't necessarily return for a family dinner.

I recently visited Joe's Cafe for brunch. Despite it being quite busy when we arrived, the wait for a table was manageable. While the bustling atmosphere may not be for everyone, my brunch at Joe's Cafe was enjoyable, and I would consider returning in the future.

Cute little cafe with a simple menu and relaxed vibes. Good for a variety of breakfast options. I ordered breakfast #1 which was sausage, bacon, beans, egg and toast and it was very tasty. I also ordered a decaf coffee with oatmilk which was nice. My partner ordered the veggie hash which was huge and also super yummy. We weren't served for a while but managed to order at the till in the end. It's good that there's a condiments box on each table so you don't need to ask for ketchup or brown sauce. Be aware of the more limited opening hours. Definitely worth a visit in you're in that locale. Enjoy.

Family business, locally sourced food. Classic place, with a little garden at the back, strong coffee and flavourful. Several all day breakfast options! Good value for money and lovely staff ! The food is good, and there is plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. The hashes are greasy but that is exactly how they are being sold as, so no complains here! The portions are quite big, sl5 they will five you recyclable containers if you can't finish. There is different types of self service watter available too (lemon, mint and plain usually) as well as many different sauces. Love the place, the coffee, the food and the staff! Deffinetly recommend for a treat yourself brunch (they have some discounts like student too).

Great tasting, quality breakfasts at a reasonable price. They come in three different sizes - big, bigger and biggest! Staff are friendly and courteous, has outside seating and a huge selection of condiments as well as a variety of different menu choices. Pictured is 'Jane's Spanish Hash' from the extensive hash menu. Highly recommended 👍🏼

Don't get me wrong the food was fine. Bacon was a little hard like cardboard but just needed cooking properly. Apparently they have made everything 10% more expensive and I felt that when I paid for the big breakfast which by the way wasn't even the biggest big brekky they do and also the prices didnt reflect the menu as they havnt bothered to pop to the print shop and update them. Found out they only serve the 'bigger breakfast' with one egg which is criminal in my opinion who has one one egg lol and especially when you are apparently buying a 'bigger' breakfast. They forgot to bring out my extra egg which is fine, forgiven. Paid £14 for this with the extra egg and the funniest part is the 'biggest' breakfast option is £15 quid. If things were fair I would have come back regularly as im newly local but greed is very unattractive and there's much nicer places to sit and eat in brighton for a fairer price.

Sugardough is a hidden gem located in the Lanes of Brighton, offering a unique blend of bakery and restaurant experiences. Founded by chef Kane McDowell in 2009, this independent bakery has expanded to two locations in Brighton and one in Hove. The bakery prides itself on creating delectable pastries and cakes from scratch. Sugardough's Brighton outpost serves seasonal British dishes with a touch of Levant influence for brunch and lunch.
What a hidden little gem we luckily stumbled upon while walking and needing a quick lunch fix Amazing quiches and savoury goods and man the sweet food is to die for!

Good food but be very careful about the huge price difference between take away £4 and stay in for the exaggerated price of £8.20!! That's more than 200% really?
Modi E — Google review
The baked goods here in Hove are excellent, but the place needs more attention to cleanliness. It’s a very old, tiny wooden café that feels stuck in the past, with outdated tools and equipment. The way the food is displayed, the look of the place, and even the staff’s clothing don’t give a good impression. At one point, I even saw the chef holding the dough against his chest, which was pretty off-putting. Tasty food, yes, but the hygiene is far below basic standards, which ruins the experience.
H.M A — Google review
Nice food but when your paying £6.80 for a slice of cake and £6 for a pot of tea it became a problem, not value for money and service is not great, I was almost expecting to pay for the tap water. Avoid!
Swanniemod1 — Google review
One thing I can’t handle myself is my love for bakery 😅. Passed by this place when grabbing fish & chips and enjoyed it at beach. Then had delicious ice cream but my mind was stuck for bakery. Any how been back, grab some stuff and move on. Service wasn’t that good but the bakery stuff was.
Win T — Google review
AVOID..miserable service without eye contact or a hint of warmth or welcoming. I paid just under a tenner for a stale biscuit that had been sat out all day (along with pretty much everything else) and a pot of mediocre tea. The place was in need of a serious clean and had an overall vibe of nobody really caring anymore. Spend your money elsewhere.

Fabulous selection of bakery items and drinks. Baker and his daughter both very happy to discuss my sourdough challenges. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

Came across by accident as we walked into Brighton from Hove and were enticed by the trolleys full of pastries in the window. Popped in for a coffee and spotted all the lovely cakes. Great range pastries, cakes and bread. Would definitely recommend. My only regret is that I had to choose!

Dishoom Permit Room is a cozy and independent hideout located on Brightons East Street, nestled among the charming pubs and vintage stores of The Lanes. The establishment exudes the homely aroma of curried dishes cooking in the kitchen and offers familiar menus that reflect its connection to Dishoom. Inspired by the permit rooms of 1960s and 1970s Bombay, Permit Room pays homage to these post-prohibition spaces that served both alcohol and homely plates.
Really busy which is always a good sign but we did book a table. Great service and super helpful waitress. Food was very tasty and plentiful. Great value and would definitely come back again

After all the hype and glowing reviews thought we would try Dishoom for a evening meal . Loved the warm welcome by staff and the ambiance was great very inviting. Very busy Thursday night , so always book . Got advice from waitress about what was hot and mild really helpful. Food was great , full of flavour and freshly made . Sadly the table was at the front of restaurant and not enough space , being knocked by everyone, glad we left dog at home not sure where she would have gone . Overall £75 for 1 starter , 2 curry’s 2 rice and 2 beers was on the high side . Didn’t like the mandatory 12% service charge for the 2 of us ! Rude ! But would still recommend it .

We came for breakfast. We ordered naan rolls and chicken pau which were really flavourful and delicious. Chai is bottomless which is super nice. Price is reasonable. Staff were super friendly and took their time to explain the menu for us. I really love the ambience with the choice of furniture and lighting. Thank you for your hospitality. :)

👑 An Absolute Gem: Authentic Tea and Incredible Fusion in Brighton! 👑 I recently celebrated a friend's birthday in Brighton and had the pleasure of dining at a venue that left a lasting impression. Having heard great things from my friend who visited earlier, my expectations were high, and this place truly delivered on every single count. What immediately stood out was the tea. It tasted exactly like the authentic, rich brew we used to enjoy back home. It was comforting and perfectly spiced—a genuine taste of nostalgia that’s often impossible to find. We indulged in the Maskaa Chai and a regular tea alongside our breakfast, and both were spot-on. The brilliance of this place lies in its concept of fusion food and drink. It's a fantastic blend of old-school comfort and modern culinary creativity, especially in the street food section. The Keema Pau we had for breakfast was incredible, but the chaats were truly spectacular! The Aloo Tikki Chaat had an explosion of flavor—the spiced potato patties, the cool yogurt, and the sweet and tangy chutneys were just what a proper chaat should be. We also enjoyed the small and cute samosas and the Crispy Spinach Chaat, which had such a fantastic texture. Every item, from the breakfast to the chaats and the tea, was flawless; I honestly could not fault a thing. Beyond the incredible food and drink, the service was truly excellent. I must give a special shout-out to Mim, who provided outstanding service. Her attentiveness, warmth, and professionalism made our experience even more enjoyable. It’s the kind of service that makes you feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. I wholeheartedly loved the entire experience. If I find myself back in Brighton again, I will absolutely be here to enjoy the tea and all the other food, and I look forward to trying even more dishes next time. This establishment is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic flavors combined with a modern, welcoming atmosphere.

Embers is a new addition to the vibrant food scene in Brighton, located in the heart of the historic Lanes. The restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with an open kitchen where everything is cooked over an open wood fire. The menu is designed for sharing and features faultless small plates cooked over fire, accompanied by creative cocktails. Despite being relatively new, Embers has quickly become a favorite among diners for its thoughtful and flavorful dishes.
We had a great evening at Embers. We were served by Lyndon and his co workers who we didn’t catch their names, were all super friendly, helpful and knew their stuff when it came to food and drink. They gave us some great recommendations and made the whole experience really easy. The food was really tasty, rich as you’d expect from wood-fired cooking, and everything looked amazing when it came out. Portions were generous without being over the top, and the prices felt fair for the quality. The place itself has a lovely atmosphere, done out really nicely inside. Feels like somewhere you could sip wine all night. Overall, a really enjoyable night and I will definitely be going back.

Embers in Brighton is an absolute gem! The food is simply outstanding – the sirloin cooked over the fire was tender, full of flavour, and perfectly paired with their unique savoy cabbage, which was smoky, rich, and unlike anything I’ve tried before. The cocktails are just as impressive – creative, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. I loved the whole experience of sitting with a view of the chefs cooking over the flames, which made the evening feel warm and special. The interior is stylish yet cosy, perfectly matching the vibrant atmosphere. Definitely a must-visit in Brighton!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! We visited Embers for our 2nd wedding anniversary with our Hungarian Viszla girl (they are super dog friendly). The evening was perfect. EMMA our waitress was fantastic from start to finish. Chatting us through the menu and looking after us. So helpful, service was great and chatty throughout service. We ordered the set menu - the food was amazing! Everything was delicious. We also want to give a shout out to VALERIE in charge of the bar. Her cocktails and knowledge of drinks were amazing. We had a fabulous evening & this place is so worth a visit. We can’t recommend more.

After eating at Issac’s 10 years ago when visiting Brighton, we had to try his current venture upon our return. We were certainly not disappointed! It was excellent. The food was exceptional, so full of flavour. We loved the cocktails (some of the best we’ve ever had - the Mai Tai really stood out) and the atmosphere and staff were fantastic. It was our honeymoon and the staff all congratulated us too, which was really sweet.
Carly W — Google review
The food speaks for itself. We agreed that the star of the show was the beetroot salad. Full of flavours, char, nut, earthy. I could have just had a huge portion and left fully satisfied. T bone steak to share was tender. Bulgarian Chardonnay was not bad either. Service was not tardy and had a good friendly flow.
Bryan S — Google review
No words to describe this place other than, phenomenal. Quite possibly the best Sunday roast served in Brighton, served quite generously. The cocktails were to die for, so much so that I had to sample three of them. Ben and the team were incredibly accommodating and welcoming throughout my visit. If you’re looking for a Sunday night well spent, please do visit Embers! You won’t be disappointed!

Best restaurant I’ve ever been to amazing food (ox heart, rainbow trout, flat iron steak, cauliflower wings, crème brûlée), perfect drinks, beautiful interior, and flawless service. Embers Brighton is a must-visit! This was my sixth visit to Embers, and I’m quickly becoming a regular. For starters, I had the Woodfired Beetroot with horseradish cream, smoked kale, and hazelnut vinaigrette. The roasted beetroot’s natural sweetness, combined with the slightly spicy cream and the crunch of hazelnuts, was simply perfect. For the main course, I enjoyed the Flamed Whole Sea Bream with clam chowder and bacon jam. The lightly smoky fish paired beautifully with the creamy chowder. I also tried the Cadillac Jo’ Margarita, whose refreshing citrus notes and gentle heat complemented the meal perfectly. The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the service is attentive and knowledgeable. Embers never fails to impress in both taste and presentation.

food was utterly fantastic and once we’d understood the concept of the platter we were all in! the unsung hero was the cauliflower cheese puree which i could bathe in, and went fantastically with everything. best pork i’ve ever had, beef was perfectly cooked and the lamb sausage was so good my boyfriend ordered another. there’s a reason it’s been voted best roast in brighton, highly recommend!

Macs Cafe is a beloved spot that has been on many people's must-visit list for years. Visitors rave about the great food and friendly service, making it the perfect place to start a cold Sunday morning. The cafe offers good value and quick service, with options like proper bubble & squeak for vegetarians who like to customize their meals. It's described as a clean and charming seaside cafe that leaves guests eager to return for more delicious meals.
This is a unique place with a special atmosphere. I am happy to have found it! It's not one of those fancy cafes, but it is so cosy and relaxed. I had excellent time there. The only thing I'd wish to see improved would be having some sweet breakfast options - a waffle or pancakes or a milkshake. Thanks for doing good job, guys

Super nice place with a lot of space and a good vibe. Service was alright it was busy so fair enough. I think the fry up was about a 4 star overall really and I’ve docked a point from that cause I also just think it’s maybe a bit expensive. If I wanted to add black pudding, mushrooms and a tomato to really complete a fry up I’d be looking at around £15 which is too much for a greasy spoon. The bacon is clearly very good as are the beans but the sausage was small and a bit of a let down. Mushrooms decent but again a bit on the small side for I think an extra £1.80. I think there are better fry ups around but it is a nice gaff, just don’t think it’s great value.

The service was good. Reasonable prices. The atmosphere was calm and good for children. Nice outside area (when it’s not raining) they also have a patio and a down stairs area. I got the mac’s special and that includes a tea or coffee of choice. I really liked this place :)

If you want a really good "greasy spoon" cafe look no further. Basic decor but tasty food and really friendly staff. Was pleasantly surprised that the sausages in my sandwich were really decent and those bland ones you get elsewhere.

Such a lovely place with friendly staff. This place really sets itself apart from the hustle and bustle of the usual city breakfast places. There is a huge homely sense that makes the gorgeous food even more enjoyable - plus, it doesn't cost much either. Highly recommend.

So rare to find a proper greasy spoon ( no insult intended). The Staff were delightful. Loved the decor. I had my own list of breakfast goodies... 2 eggs 2 sausage 2 rashers bacon 2 black pudding Beans Chips It was wonderful. Thank you MAC'S Cafe for a proper breakfast feed! I will be back.

If you like a depressing looking fry up and have some spare money you wanna burn🔥, look no further.. this was a truly sad experience... I went for the most expensive option the "MAC Special". The coffee tasted like it had been filtered thru a human centipede and I was the unfortunate person at the end, eagerly awaiting my portion ... The "MAC Special" was special in one particular area.. the way that the chef had with meticulous skill, (And what i can only imagine the Michelin star level training) ...managed to make every item on the plate seem lonely, along side each of the "no frills" ingredients accompanying it. One of which was bread fried so DEEP it likely got the bends when they rescued it from the bottom of the fryer.. one dissilutioned egg that came sailing about the top of the greasy bread slice, with a air sadness so thick it would make a hard man cry, a solitary hash brown and 2 rashers of bacon... the bacon was the only saving grace because there was 2 and messing up bacon is tantamount to wizardry and can't be done. If UKIP made breakfasts this would have been it. A bit like Brexit. It was full of promises but overall disappointing, expensive and probably has shortened my life expectancy. Wouldn't recommend Don't try this place, Don't vote Tory

The staff here was so lovely! Our server Rebecca was very helpful and patient with us. I recommend the chai iced latte and the vanilla iced latte, both with coconut milk! The atmosphere was really nice, there was a live singer for pride weekend and the vibes were super cozy and cute :) This was the first genuinely good food from a vegetarian cafe that i’ve tried. The Turkish eggs were delicious but could’ve done with less onion topping, but still very yummy for a fully vegetarian meal! I am a meat eater and could barely tell that the sausage was vegetarian, it was the best i’ve had! My brother had the breakfast skillet and said it was a bit bland, but he cleared his plate regardless🤪.

The most cramped breakfast place in Brighton but thats not the issue. There's a big waitress there who threw her weight around when I mentioned how filthy the table was. She came over moments later and aggressively started wiping the table down while also saying to me its the type of wood when me and my partner could see the table had hair and black dirt all over it. Can hardly fit anyone in the place if the lady cannot handle working under minimal pressure god help her. Stopped by for a midweek brunch on a visit to Brighton, there was 100's of places to choose from but opted for this one based on existing Google reviews. I am so glad we did, the food was excellent, the staff were friendly and attentive and the seating etc was decent. The menu is quite extensive, so I found it difficult to choose but eventually ended up going for a favorite of mine, eggs royal. They did not disappoint, extremely tasty and well presented. The orange juice was great too, lovely and fresh. I also tried the bacon and pancakes, which turned up with a mountain of perfectly cooked bacon! Very tasty and great value for money. I would 100% recommend a visit.

As regular visitors to Brighton (kids and grandkids) we're always on the look out for new coffee shops to add to our growing list. Can't remember how we came across this one, but soooo glad we did. Ticked all our usual boxes - bit quirky, independent, great coffee, excellent range of cakes and faultless service. Clearly a Turkish vibe going on judging from some of the mouthwatering dishes on the Menu. Already noted a few, including the incredible looking pancakes to try when we're back down in December. 😋

The House Cafe at Stanmer House is a luxurious venue located in a splendid Grade listed Georgian Manor House set in beautiful parkland. It offers traditional British food, bottomless brunches, and BBQs. The elegant and romantic setting makes it perfect for celebrating special occasions like weddings. Additionally, the venue warmly welcomes dogs and their owners for lunch, dinner, or afternoon tea after enjoying a walk in the surrounding woodland of Stanmer Park.
The Sunday dinner is really good and the fruit crumble is excellent. Nice paced service as well. The drop of a star is not for the building, which is impressive, but I would prefer to be seated a little away from the main flow of people when having dinner.

Disappointing. Not the traditional experience of an English afternoon tea. For a proper experience, look elsewhere. I brought my Mum maybe 10 years ago and it was perfect, it was “THE” afternoon tea experience. Fine china, silver cutlery, unlimited tea it felt luxurious. Back to this weekend. There was no booking available for the Saturday afternoon, we thought it was already full so we booked for lunch time. You get more than enough food for a proper meal. Turns out, it was just us in that massive room, we felt pretty special. The service was perfect and tbe food was good. But it didn’t feel like a traditional English afternoon tea. We got paper napkins - only one each, when all the food is sandwiches and items you eat with you hands (no forks), the tea pots and water jugs looked cheap, I mean they were cute, nothing was bad, it just all felt cheap, but cheap it was not. The staff was very nice, accomodating and attentive, we did feel looked after. We were offered to take away our leftovers in boxes, which was very nice. Food was hot saussage rolls, then the tower with sandwiches (plenty), scones with cream and jam (no fruit bits, more like jelly) and bite-size patisseries. It was very quiet, there was a family with children in the main bar area but the thick doors were great at blocking the noise.

Awful experience. Most over rated roast we’ve had. Our food came out wrong to start with and when the right order came it was cold. Watery gravy and rock hard cauliflower “cheese” which had a limited amount of cheese burnt onto it. Deflated Yorkshire pudding. The roast potatoes were awful and hard. We wanted to politely give some feedback when we asked for the bill and were met with a frustrated manager who then decided to go and try the items of food we had said weren’t very nice. Most bizarre response to feedback I’ve ever come across. Only positive was the pigs in blankets and beautiful setting! £90 later.. never again.

We held our wedding reception at Stanmer House last Saturday and it was AMAZING! The venue is absolutely stunning, the staff were incredibly helpful and organised, and the food was delicious (our guests said it was some of the best wedding food they have ever had). We're still on cloud nine. We would definitely recommend it as a wedding venue and thank you again to all the staff that made it happen.

Really bizarre service. Table of 6 people, pre-booked, yet it took over 40 minutes to get anyone to come and take a drinks order. We had to go and find someone three times, and even the person who finally came didn't seem to have actually been sent over after us asking. The person at the bar seemed annoyed when we asked if we should order drinks with them or at our table. One of the party had to go and get wine glasses themselves. A huge shame because the Sunday roast was lovely! Great portion, lots of thick gravy, good roasties, delicious roast beef and sides. Also dog friendly indoors, which is always a nice surprise. Just a weird atmosphere and very slow..

The Grand Brighton is a luxurious seafront property with 201 opulent rooms that underwent a multimillion-pound renovation after surviving a bomb in 1984. The hotel now boasts art deco details, nautical touches, and the stylish attire of its doormen designed by local couturier Gresham Blake. It's a social hotspot where locals enjoy the spa, cocktails at the bar, afternoon tea on the Victoria Terrace, and dining at Cyan restaurant.
Wonderful 2 night stay in an executive room with balcony on the 1st floor. Lovely friendly welcome and service. Loved almost everything. Only critiques to make would be the areas than are currently being renovated. Although signage to apologise, and not a quick job to complete, it was a shame.to see the very worn carpets held together with duct tape on the beautiful stairwell. But I'm sure it will look gorgeous once completed and did not ruin our stay. My other critique would be the additional fee to use the pool. I would normally expect this to be included in such a hotel as this. We will definitely be back though. Thank you 😊

I haven't rated the rooms as we only visited the restaurant after being gifted a voucher for our wedding. The food was lovely. The pork belly was really tasty. Lots of food and flavour. It's quite dark in there. They have painted everything in a dark teal colour. Even the ceiling which is a shame as it detracts from the beautiful architecture. It needed more light. The staff were really friendly and welcoming.

Marie, the chef was amazing with her culinary and customer service skills. The room was immaculate. Didn’t wanna come out of the shower. Shampoos and soaps were lush. Bed was incredibly comfy. The team were so kind and genuine, like not fake/pretentious, which I appreciated. I googled the history of the hotel a lot while I was there and the proximity of the hotel was just perfect (brightonSEO, the event I was there for, was right next door). Oh, my key never worked on the first go though. Always took 4 times or so. Not a fan honestly. But love everything else! Can’t wait to bring my family next time.

My partner and I (both in our mid-50s) recently enjoyed our very first stay at The Grand Brighton, and we’re already talking about when we can return. This was a bit of a treat for us—a short seaside getaway—and The Grand certainly lived up to its name. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the building’s classic charm. There’s a real sense of history to the place, but it’s been beautifully maintained and tastefully updated where needed. The check-in process was warm and efficient, and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful throughout our stay. Our room was clean, comfortable, and nicely furnished + air con. The bed was very comfortable (we slept incredibly well), and little touches like proper tea and coffee-making facilities and quality toiletries didn’t go unnoticed. Breakfast was generous and well-prepared, with a good range of options. We particularly appreciated the vegetarian choices and the fact that everything was hot and fresh. We also took advantage of the hotel bar for evening drinks, and it was lovely—relaxed atmosphere, good service, and a nice spot to unwind after a day of exploring the Lanes and strolling along the pier. This was our first visit to The Grand, and Brighton in general, but certainly not our last. We felt well looked after and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended for couples looking for a bit of seaside elegance with a personal touch.

Such a warm and welcoming place to visit. Arriving from Melbourne Australia sadly only had time for an over night stay but we were so happy to make the trek from London for the short stay thanks to the very friendly staff. Poppy on the front desk was so happy and helpful and couldn’t do enough to settle us in quickly and efficiently. Paul the Doorman and Spencer the concierge were so friendly and helpful with our luggage, local advice and booking us a cab to the station. Room was so comfortable and clean with a hot shower! Best cocktails we have ever had from the bar! I’ll be back!

I had the absolute pleasure of visiting the spa at The Grand Brighton today, and I can confidently say it was one of the most relaxing and rejuvenating experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment I stepped in, I was struck by the serene atmosphere, elegant interiors, and a sense of tranquility that instantly put me at ease. The facilities were top-notch, thoughtfully designed, and clearly maintained with care. Everything felt luxurious and inviting. But what truly elevated the experience was Lucy who was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. She went above and beyond to make my visit exceptional. Her professionalism, kindness, and intuitive approach made me feel completely cared for. Lucy’s service was not just great, it was outstanding. She’s a true asset to the spa and made a lasting impression. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with impeccable service, The Grand Brighton Spa is a must visit. I’ll definitely be returning.

We recently hosted a conference at The Grand Brighton, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The guest rooms were stunning—elegant, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. The meeting spaces were equally impressive, offering a professional yet stylish setting that elevated the entire event. A special mention must go to the hotel’s AV partner, Mascol. Their support was absolutely top-tier—seamless technology, expert guidance, and a team that truly knows how to deliver. They worked in perfect harmony with the hotel staff, who were exceptional throughout—attentive, friendly, and incredibly professional. The food was another highlight—every dish was delicious and beautifully presented, with something to impress every palate. Overall, The Grand Brighton delivered a five-star experience in every way. I wouldn’t hesitate to host another event here—it was truly flawless.

I think this is my 5th stay of this year in total (3rd with my disabled son Alex). I do always look for when it is low rates to be able to stay with you with my son as we always need to have a 527, 427 or 327 for the size of room and the view, he will not stay anywhere else. I recommend your hotel to all my friends and travelers. (I will be honest I stay in Brighton a lot for business possibly 20 times a year, when I'm on my own I do look for the cheapest rate with a good breakfast and Seaview. The Maldron and Harbour hotels give me a Tour Operator rate which I would be silly not to accept and their service and staff and the rooms are all really nice. Most importantly I still wake up and see the sea. It's a must when I'm by any seaside location anywhere in the world). But when it comes to travelling with my son, he refuses anywhere apart from the Grand in Brighton, And your service means that I would not ever consider another hotel for these stays. The staff in all departments are amazing and after so many stays we do get recognized and especially the in-house team do everything possible to make our stay as comfortable and easy as possible. Alex comes with so much stuff, but the doormen are wonderful and as soon as the Wheelchair accessible van pulls up, whoever is on the door speeds over to us to assist. this attention to detail makes our initial arrival seamless now with The Grand, something we never experience anywhere else. I can't remember all of their names but I'm sure it was Paul on the door this time who is a pure delight. They all are. I saw many familiar faces in all departments and that goes to recognize how good the hotel is at retaining key members of staff. I travel a lot, owning my own Tour Operation and this is something that I see so rarely. Well done to your all and can't wait for the next visit - I'll be looking our for the deals rolling up to Christmas. Alex wants to come and see the Christmas tree as last year we were sadly cancelled due to your lifts not working.

Malmaison Brighton is a waterfront hotel located on the Brighton marina, offering vibrant rooms, a cocktail bar, and modern dining. The hotel was formerly known as Alias Hotel Seattle before being taken over by the Malmaison boutique collection of hotels. The brasserie features floor-to-ceiling glass frontage with stunning views and an outdoor terrace overlooking the sea. Guests can enjoy classic Mal dishes with French style and generous British portions, showcasing modern American and Asian influences.
I had a great two-night stay at Malmaison Brighton. The room was comfortable and perfect for a short visit. I really appreciated the eco-friendly option to skip housekeeping, especially since I didn’t need it—and the free drink at the bar was a thoughtful bonus. Friendly staff, stylish setting, and a smooth stay overall. There was enough nearby the hotel to keep me entertained for the short stay.

This hotel was very nice. The good: very comfortable bed, large plush towels, free drinks on days that you choose not to have the maid in (you can still get free towels/ supplies at reception). Nice pub lounge area with great views. The less good: We had a twin room, but weren't told at reception or when booking that this was also a disabled room. No view from our room, but we didn't mind. The decor is a bit naff though, and could use an upgrade. All the cabinets etc are in excellent condition, but the colours and decor are showing their age.

A lovely hotel in a lovely setting in the Marina. Very modern and has a really nice terrace overlooking the rear of the marina. Only issues were: lighting in ceiling didn't work (we reported it but were only there 1 night) and the duvet was dirty but it was changed immediately after we let them know. A great place and would come again.

A few issues with there cleaning team, for a 4 star hotel they just need to do a bit of retraining and a checker for maid service. Front of house staff very helpful and dealt with all issues quickly. Room size was great and beautiful views 👌 We will stay there again

Brilliant hotel for a weekend in Brighton. Good location near bars and restaurants, perfect for a relaxing weekend away. During our stay we were greeted by Ibrahim on arrival. He was very friendly and accommodating during our stay. Nothing was too much trouble.

Have stayed a couple times as an emergency thing and have had parents stay multiple times while visiting me at uni. Very nice hotel, the room numbers all skip 13 which I find a lot funnier than it should be. Rooms are nice, one time there was black mould on my parent’s toilet, however staff at the desk were very apologetic and had a senior staff member resolve the issue immediately. The bar with a balcony looking over the marina is very scenic (but be careful of the seagulls), it’s been the same bartender each time I’ve been and he’s always been very friendly, will make conversation but isn’t pushy and is happy to make drinks that aren’t on the menu or will offer custom cocktails if you’re indecisive like I am. Overall, it’s a bit out of the way for Brighton but the quality is worth the short bus journey or taxi into the city

We stayed on Level 3, Room 321 (Club View) for a weekend getaway (£590 including breakfast). Overall, the experience was good, but it didn’t quite exceed my expectations. The main issue for me was the condition of the carpets. Just outside our room, the corridor carpet was quite worn with visible holes, which really let the impression down. Inside the room, there were noticeable marks on the carpet, possibly cigarette burns, near the balcony door by the lamp stand. The carpet itself showed signs of heavy wear in high-traffic areas. While the room was very clean (no complaints there), the tired flooring took away from the “feel-good” factor I was hoping for. On the positive side, breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and attentive service for hot food. The staff throughout our stay were friendly, well-mannered, and very helpful, which was much appreciated. I travelled mostly to town by uber booking.. there and back a bus service if you so wanted is also available. Free Parking was appreciated and Level 6 gives you good access to the property. I did notice some kids dropping glass bottles on our last day from the top floor when exiting the car park so just be aware of this. ( not reported) as going home. My advice to the property manager would be to replace the carpets in both the rooms and corridor areas on levels 3 and also consider refreshing the exterior paintwork, which is starting to show signs of wear.. In my opinion makes it look a bit shabby in places and unloved. Small updates like these would really lift the overall experience to match the quality of service provided. My experience was good, but concerned this was in no way value due money at £590 due to the condition of hotel property.. with so many choice’s of hotels to stay in Brighton, I’m not sure I would recommend at this time..due to the work required to make it Luxury.

Perfect little hotel at the Brighton marina. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the main pier that you can have a relaxing evening and get some sleep but still close enough you can walk or take the electric railway down every day. Very comfortable beds, excellent selection of channels on TV, great customer service. Only very very minor downside was that the AC is on a timer which made the room incredibly warm overnight but we also stayed during a heat wave, wouldn't be an issue during "normal" weather and you also need to recognize this is a hotel very focused on being environmentally friendly and saving on electricity. Would definitely stay again if we ever get back to Brighton!

Hotel du Vin Brighton is a laid-back property located near the beach, offering an elegant restaurant and terrace, as well as free Wi-Fi. The 49-room hotel sprawls across mock Tudor and gothic buildings, with sumptuous furnishings throughout. The stunning Loft Suite features an incredible 8ft by 8ft bed and a private terrace with sea views.
Lovely old hotel tucked away just down a side street in Brighton. Attended friends wedding. Food was AMAZING. Stayed for 2 nights. Rooms were lovely, deep bath, amazing showers very co portable beds but could do with a little bit more attention to detail. Couple stains on top cover on bed, big stains on carpets. Approx £250 per night I'd expect it to be spotless.

Although I have been to the Hotel du Vin on numerous occasions for drinks, last night was the first time I stayed there. It really is a beautiful hotel. The room was spacious and well equipped. The bathroom was glorious and the bed was so comfy. It was a haven. I would like to thank Roberto, Eddie and Rufus for their professionalism, their kindness and care. It was greatly appreciated.

Standout service - staff couldn’t be more accommodating and friendly (rare in today’s toughened economy when service is often so patchy). Stylish throughout with nice touches in the rooms. Deluxe rooms get nice bedding, ours even had a small terrace, plus large bathroom with bath and walk-in shower. A great bar too…Having seen a few alternatives in Brighton, this is far and away the best hotel choice. Very easy walking distance to the Lanes and more too. Thanks guys

What a beautiful hotel. The room was gorgeous and looked much more expensive than what we paid for. All the staff were lovely, but a particular shout out to Bella for being so accommodating, helping me with our suitcases and even bringing up plates and cutlery when we ordered in takeaway. These little touches made the stay feel extra special. We had a wonderful time here, we just wished we'd stayed for longer!

My friend and I spent the day in Brighton at the weekend and stumbled across this hotel when we were looking for somewhere quiet to have a drink. It was almost a bit too quiet - for most of our visit we were the only ones sitting inside! But we really appreciated the luxe surroundings and being able to get away from the seafront crowd. And the cocktails, served with a flourish by the fabulous Eddie, were the icing on the cake. I was especially pleased with my negroni flight, which Eddie talked me through, and I was really impressed with his skill and the effort he made to provide such a good service. I don’t know if it’s always that quiet but I’d highly recommend this place for a nice drink and I’m looking forward to going back.

The staff at this hotel were so friendly and the hotel is ideally located for the beach and city centre, however AVOID ROOM ADUR. Scaffolding is currently erected around the room, which aside from impacting the aesthetic is a landing ground for pigeons and seagulls. We were awoken in the early hours by the birds jumping above our heads; it felt like someone was constantly knocking on the door. A trip that we hoped would provide some respite was actually one with a restless, constantly disturbed sleep! Such a shame. We were also twice charged for drinks we had vouchers for, so worth double checking your bills. It is a lovely hotel, but didn’t quite work out for us on this occasion.

Great gig, be aware that at concerts only 1 drink per person at a time because under 14s are allowed in. Security not great inside, there was a fight in the crowd for ages and they struggled to sort it.

SCAMMED by brunch! We book and paid for bottomless brunch in advance, even received a reminder email the day before. Arrived with one our party coming down from London only to be left very confused outside in the freezing cold! We had no communication at all to say it was cancelled or to reschedule. Still have no idea what's going on and tried calling the venue multiple times. We then called the mobile number on the confirmation email and were hung up on immediately. As far as I can see this is nothing but a scam and still promted on their website. Absolutely disgraceful. Avoid at all costs. Reporting officially as fraudulent.

A bit old school! Lots of steps in and out (Basement), very dark but cosy.. name list on entry and Hand Stamp! It was my first time there and it was over the Mod weekend at Maze & Purple Hearts Concert so it might have been intended on taking us back to our old Disco/Club days - if so it succeeded! 😆👍

It's dark. It's sweaty. It's claustrophobic. It's absolutely perfect for a night of music and meeting new people. The staff were great, the bar well stocked as far as I could tell, I was drinking orange juice and soda. I travelled from the opposite end of the country in Lancashire. I wasn't disappointed

Epic! Went here for a day rave. The upstairs is large, consisting of a bar, small dance floor alot of tables and chairs. Downstairs leads to a club. It feels like you're absolutely away from reality and even though it was during the day it was pitched black in the basement. A great experience and I'd love to go back

Patterns absolutely made my birthday celebrations in late August! Poppy is frankly, a total legend, helped me out with an area and put together a drinks package for me even though it’s not something the venue usually offers. Went absolutely over and above to help me and our large group out with luggage storage and just generally be super accommodating. The bar team were all lovely too and handled the crazy busy bar really well during the event. Even the security were lush and when we came back to get our bags later in the night the new team couldn’t have been more helpful either. Huge shout outs to the team at Patterns - can’t wait to come back!

The supervisor/ manager that was on shift yesterday ruined mine and my whole group of friends night. Was rude and refusing to listen to customers or her colleagues. Honestly I don’t think we will ever come back because of the way we were treated yesterday. The drinks tasted like all the syrups had run out, we had ordered 5 vodka cranberry’s and they were all fizzy? This was the top bar.

Despite living round the corner, I'd never been to Caxton Arms, until I urgently found myself needing a place to host a 30th birthday party. I'm glad we booked a room and buffet here. The manager is open and friendly, the pub has a good atmosphere and nice outdoor space, and all the bar staff were great too. As for the buffet, which was fairly priced, one of the barmaids said it's better than food she's seen served at weddings. I don't eat much fish, but everyone who does loved the whitebait.

Fika Hove is a beachfront spot that offers a perfect setting to recharge after a coastal stroll. Embracing the Swedish concept of Fika, it's more than just coffee and cake; it's about taking a moment to relax and socialize. Partnering with Backyard Coffee and Cracked Brighton, Fika serves indulgent breakfast buns and extravagant fried egg sandwiches.
Very good, large toasted spectacular sandwiches. Great flavour and fillings. Visually impressive. The coffee is good, so also the coffee mugs. It is very satisfying and reasonably priced. Friendly staff. The service is quick. Stylish interiors. There are not many tables inside (feels a bit crowded and stuffy), but the outside areas have good sitting options. If you have to wait a bit, It is definitely worth it. We will be back again! Highly recommend when you are in Hove.

It's a lovely place for breakfast, the fried chicken burger was tasty and you get a lot of chicken and extras so I'd say it's worth the £13.50. Gave 4 stars as I felt the hot chocolate could have been more creamy and chocolatey. Staff were very friendly and the interior has a nice vibe.

Was walking past looking for a quick bite to eat. Menu looked interesting so we ordered one sandwich each. My one was amazing, it had salmon, egg, cream cheese, cheddar, in brioche bread! Forgot what my wife got but we took some pics. Príce was not bad. The food was served quickly. I would definitely come here again. 5*!

The food was excellent, great coffee but a bit hectic. FIKA is a really fun experience. It's buzzing and loud, filled with cool people and stylish interiors. The food is visually impressive, big dirty stacks of delicious chicken and bacon. It took a bit of hovering to get a table, and we shared with a family of four. Don't let that put you off, just get there early.

We visited for the first time today and were very disappointed. The venue is not neurodivergent-friendly, and some staff members appeared unaware of hidden disabilities. For example, when my autistic 9-year-old son, who has a language disorder, asked for a straw, he was pointedly told to say “please" from the member of staff who was not serving us and standing on the back far from till. This could easily have triggered a meltdown and self-harm as it is hard for him to express himself due to his disabilities. The environment was also overwhelming: loud music, strong food smells, and sensory overload made it difficult even to hear staff bringing orders. On arrival, we also helped an elderly lady get inside because she didn’t realise the place was already open – it was very cold and windy outside at around 9 a.m. On our way out, both my son and I said “thank you,” but the staff didn’t pay any attention or respond. This came across as very unprofessional and dismissive. The only positive was that the pastry tasted nice, though it wasn’t fresh. Unfortunately, this experience has put us off returning.

Chocolate heaven with great vibes in Brighton! ☕🍫 Apr 2025 • Group of Friends We visited Knoops in Brighton – just me and four friends – and we had a wonderful experience. Good Points: • We ordered 2 hot chocolates, an Americano, and an espresso – all tasted amazing, especially with their Brazilian beans ☕ • The place has a modern and cozy décor – really inviting and stylish ✨ • One of my friends even bought a box of their signature dark hot chocolate mix – it’s that good! • Staff were polite and quick, and the whole atmosphere felt smooth and relaxed Verdict: Highly recommended café if you love quality chocolate drinks and a calm, stylish place to enjoy them

It is a perfect place for getting hot chocolate or chocolate smoothie. There are many different option on the menu, will suggest people afraid bitter chocolate try the milk chocolate section on the menu. The marshmallow from this place is really nice to go with the chocolate and looks very cute. There are a few indoor and out door seats here but not so many, it’s a mainly take away shop. The hot chocolate powder and gift sections is adorable, many different packages in different season. Must be perfect souvenir to bring home and share with friends.

Quite probably the nicest hot chocolate & Mocha I’ve had in the UK I particularly liked the format of ordering; being able to choose the Cocoa Percentage is a great idea. I thoroughly enjoyed brunch outside in the sun and I now see why this place has so much hype! It was busy being the first sunny day in agesss, but the staff were on top of things, super friendly and service was spot on. Top marks for that! The atmosphere and buzz of the place was great too, being so chilled, so relaxed, and the whole vibe was just friendly and nice. The food was the stand out though, with my two favourite Greek dishes getting ordered without a second though. The dolmades were zingy and vibrant, with the yogurt sauce rounding them out. The gigantes (giant beans) were the ultimate winner though. Depth of flavour and olive oily tomatoey goodness dancing round my mouth, with bread to dip, ahhh! The iced matcha was nice and I cannot recommend this place enough!

Loved the vibe and the food was so delicious! Definitely recommend the Nutella pancakes and avocado toast. Coffees are great too! Great spot for a brunch - right in the middle of the narrow lanes that lead you to the Brighton beach!

Found this cafe in The Lanes when looking for a nice breakfast before the drive home after staying at the Leonardo hotel. Cracking little place, great coffee and pastries. Excellent, friendly service.

Gave our order of 2 extra hot oat lattes. We sat and waited and waited. Takeaway orders were taken and delivered and we still waited for ours. Eventually we got our order which were not hot. Sent 1 back. Mentioned the takeaways and was told all takeaways are completed first ! We said it was odd. The waitress argued the point to the point of rudeness. Asked her to stop. I explained that if there was a queue of takeaway orders, when would we get our coffee. Ridiculous and disappointing

The Garden Cafe, located in St Anns Well Gardens, offers a simple and satisfying breakfast experience. Whether you choose to dine inside or enjoy the outdoor seating, the friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere make for an enjoyable visit. The cafe's location in a lovely park is a major draw, especially on sunny days. Guests can expect good coffee and decent food, although portions may be slightly small. Despite this, prices are reasonable considering the area's cost of living.
Phenomenal! Had a great time here with an astonishing veggie breakfast: Perfect composition, very much enjoyed the mushrooms, the perfectly cooked (and wonderful garlicky) spinach and the excellent seasoned tomatoes. A bargain as well! All in all a wonderful experience with warmhearted and quick staff in an inspiring atmosphere. Keep up the great work!

Wonderful cafe within the park, with ample seating inside and out, as well as the beer garden style external table/seating in the park area in front of the cafe. Broad menu, with vegan and gluten free options, possibly aimed towards the modern local consumer. No greasy spoon breakfast, but I am prepared to bet that smashed avocado 🥑 is an option. Having said that, my non-vegan, non gluten-free option I selected was genuinely delicious, and the staff were universally friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. A little bit pricey for me, but the quality was obvious. The wait time was also just outside what I would normally expect, but the staff attitude, attendance and updates struck just the right note. If you are looking for a premium quality cafe meal, or even just coffee and a snack or pastry, with excellent service and great options I can recommend The Garden Cafe. More expensive than a supermarket "Meal Deal"!, but made to order from premium quality local ingredients. I look forward to another return visit.

£7 for two slices of white bread and one slice of thin bacon. Missing drink. Cheesy chips were c the cheap fries with a small sprinkling of cheese just on the top, again very expensive. We paid £34 over all and then they said it didn't go through and made us pay again. The 2 young guys behind the counter kept looking over and laughing so I instinctively checked my bank account. They had charged us twice. The second time they added a bottle of water to the order. The SAME thing happened the next week when I went there with my mum. Charged twice, the second time with a bottle of water added. This time I knew not to get food. Again lots of laughing from the young guys and woman behind the counter. We then saw another customer requesting a refund as they had been charged twice "accidentally". I no longer trust this once lovely place

I absolutely love this local cafe in the park, and it holds a really special place in my heart as I've been coming to these gardens since I was a child! The vibe in the cafe is really lovely, a friendly, warm community. Its spacious too, so unlike some other park cafes, its usually easy to find a table either inside or outside. The staff are lovely and friendly and the range of foods and drinks on the menus is quite vast. I love coming for a brunch and coffee as its only 5 minutes walk from my house. Or sometimes I stop for an icecream if Ive been for a stroll on a warm day. 3 weeks ago we went to their Tapas night on a Friday, which was a lovely atmosphere and they had lots of choice of little tapas dishes to have with our bottle of wine! If you haven't been to St Ann's well gardens yet then its worth a visit, walk around the pond, sensory garden, go and watch/play tennis, the kids playground is tucked at the top end so there's plenty of quiet areas around the rest of the park. All in all, its a wonderful place to visit.... try the home baked cakes too!

I had the full English and thought it was great. Lovely thick piece of toast and when I asked for a second slice they didn't hesitate. Lovely people, nice family atmosphere, pleasant setting and tasty food. Will come again when next time at The Montefiore Hospital.

The Garden Cafe has an amazing atmosphere, great park views especially on a rainy day, good coffee, and pleasant and nice staff.

Pleasant Cafe in a lovely park - that's obviously it's selling point especially on a sunny day - was wonderful sitting outside this morning. Coffee is good and food is decent though portions are perhaps a little on the small side though tbf given the location and cost of living issues the prices are reasonable. Would definitely return though sadly we don't live nearby it's a definite bonus of the area if you do.

Jacob's Bakery + Cafe is a charming spot in central Brighton that offers a delightful experience for locals and visitors alike. Whether you choose to sit indoors or outdoors, you can enjoy the warm and friendly service from the staff while savoring delicious hot chocolate, coffee, or espresso.
The Chai Latte is made with real bits in it! And does taste so much better. Plus the Cinnamon Danish is proper. There is very poor 5G reception and no laptops are allowed, so come here only if you want to relax and disconnect from the world

We’ve enjoyed our experience at Jacob’s. Plenty of outdoors seating, which was great in hot weather. Parasols to protect us from the sun. Lovely staff and tasty warm baked goods. Highly recommend!

Jacob’s Bakery offers a great range of hot drinks and superb cakes/desserts. I had the lemon cake, which was absolutely superb and also the meringue slice, which was equally tasty. This is a lovely locally owned cafe near the centre of Brighton that offers a delicious array of freshly made cakes and pastries. Wow, this place is amazing, beautifully decorated, and spotlessly cleaned, very stylish, and it's just so appetising with everything on display beautifully 😍. Our server today was very professional and friendly. The hot chocolate and coffee were beautiful presented. No photoshop required, and actual products are just this beautiful in colour in real. Highly recommended and a must try place, they have loads of high quality cakes, pastry and cookies.

One of our new favourite bakeries in Brighton and there are many! Lovely hot chocolate and latte coffee. On a sunny Sunday the road next to it is surprisingly not that busy since they rerouted the traffic. So it’s a nice vibe to sit outside when the UK weather allows. I came back again with my wife to sample indoors (it was rainy) and their cakes and toasties. The cake options are lovely as are their pastries. Not the usual basic croissants you get elsewhere, which is a real treat. Nice looking cakes also to buy that we will no doubt go through on our next visit. There were a few savoury options available. Egg mayo or tomato and mozzarella focaccia bread sandwiches. Some egg/fetta breakfast buns and quiches. We would have liked to see a little more savoury options but we chose the egg mayo sandwich which was toasted and it tasted lovely too. Enough to share between two of us and also a tasty Pistachio swirl pastry. Jacob didn’t disappoint. We’ll be back again.

Nestled on Trafalgar Street in Brighton, Kitchen Cafe is a charming spot that has garnered quite the reputation among locals and visitors alike. This cozy eatery specializes in traditional fried breakfasts, offering a delightful array of hearty options that are both satisfying and well-priced. Although it operates only from 11 am to 2 pm, the quality of food served here makes it worth planning your visit around its hours.
The Kitchen Cafe is an old school proper English cafe serving perfect fry ups and lovely roast lunches. Places like this have almost completely disappeared. It’s clean, offers friendly service and good cooking of good ingredients. Top tip: order fried potatoes..

We were leaving Brighton after a weekend here and were looking for a good English breakfast. We made a trip into town to specifically come here as it looked good and reasonably priced. We were not disappointed! We ordered set menu no.9 and it was delicious. That has definitely set us up for our journey home. You get big portions, I couldn't actually finish it all. The service was great, very personal and I had a very short wait while he was finishing off an order of teas. The cafe is very small, about 20 people for seating and there are also 2 tables outside. But it was very quiet at 11am on a Monday, so it was crowded.

This is the most accurate to a greasy spoon cafe I have been in. Friendly staff, simple but delicious fry-ups, locals popping in and being called by their first names. Massively reasonably priced as well!!

We had a large, well priced and cooked breakfast. Excellent value for money. Could do with a new layout inside as the space between tables is a bit small as were the tables but still a super place for breakfast.

A lovely unexpected breakfast visit. Such a friendly, welcoming and high quality breakfast….especially the butchers style sausage that was perfectly cooked. I honestly can’t recall when I last spent less than a tenner on a breakfast and coffee, especially served with a smile. This will now be my weekend treat. See you again very soon.

The kitchen cafe is just that, with well spaced seating, and a large street window to people gaze at. The breakfast for £7.00, was suitable to fill a on the slim side lady like myself, which I must admit I wiped the plate with the remnants of my toast, and enjoyed every bite.

This was the only proper English breakfast i had during my first trip to England... Mostly because i wasn't there long. When i happened upon Kitchen Cafe while visiting Brighton for the day i was immediately drawn in by the warm, retro interior and the menu... With its many iterations of a traditional meal. I had everything... eggs, beans, toast with blood sausage and tomatoes. It was so good. Everything I'd expected, hoped and more. The lady running the ship was lovely. She was friendly and quick and helpful. I look forward to returning on my next visit.

Good meal at a reasonable price. Greasy spoon cafes are disappearing, so it's nice to have some still left in the Brighton area. It's quite a small cafe, with limited seating area, however decent fry up.

Bayon Bakery Hove is a beloved neighborhood bakehouse located near Hove station. Founded by Amber Sterck, it's known for its good coffee, inviting atmosphere, and beautifully crafted pastries and breads. The bakery embraces the philosophy of simple pleasures done well and has quickly become a favorite spot for locals to enjoy delicious treats and great coffee in a welcoming environment.
One of my favourite bakeries in Brighton…and then it’s a good cafe too! I love my bread and some of my favourite sourdoughs have come from Bayon. I recently had a pumpkin and rosemary loaf which blew me away. The seeds were roasted until a little sweet and the flavour was delicious was toasted. I’ll stop banging on about the bread but it is great, try it! I was allowed to sit in and work, completely undisturbed and comfortably, even though there aren’t that many seats (sorry😬). I had a flat white, which was well made and pretty tasty. The chicken sandwich was like a chicken legend, almost exactly, just elevated haha. Very yummy, spiced breaded chicken and a luscious bun, though a tad dry, just needed more of that creamy slaw. The staff were very efficient and charming, and all in all the experience was great. Thanks guys :)

Bayon Bakery helped me pull off a dream marriage proposal. They truly went above and beyond and completely blew my expectations out of the water. Although they don’t usually deliver, after telling them of my brunch marriage proposal idea, they made an exception and were all in. Not only did they deliver the pastries, they took the time to wrap each box in beautiful red ribbon. We had the best time trying each pastry and felt like queens. Everything was delicious. The sausage rolls, the breakfast pastries, the croissants, the muffins. It was a dream and I am eternally grateful to the Bayon Bakery team. Especially Amber, who was so kind and communicative. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Oh, and she said yes!

We absolutely love this new bakery, they do the most delicious pastries and excellent coffee. The jam donuts are to die for and they make their own fresh bread which always look and smell incredible. The staff are lovely and it’s a really lovely spot. What is great is it’s right next to the station so we can’t not go there before our train to work. Highly recommend and a must to visit if you love all things pastry!
Fay M — Google review
It is such a great place and I have been coming regularly for some months now. Today is their first year anniversary and they even gave us a celebratory donut! Amazing, absolutley recommended!
Fran P — Google review
This bakery is exactly what this area has been missing. With everything made in-house, it’s truly impressive what they’ve accomplished in such a short amount of time. Their doughnuts have quickly become some of my favorites in Brighton, and their coffee beans—sourced in collaboration with one of my favorite local roasteries, Pelicano—are exceptional. The attention to quality here is unmatched, and while the premium pricing reflects this, it’s entirely justified. I’m more than happy to pay a little extra for top-tier, freshly made products, especially when I’m commuting and want to start my day with a quality coffee and pastry. While there’s certainly a place for chains like Greggs, this part of Hove deserves something more special—and this bakery delivers. I also appreciate their discounts for locals and residents, which I’ve happily taken advantage of! I’m thrilled to have such a fantastic business in the area and can’t recommend it enough. A big fan!
Sammy P — Google review
Absolutely love this place. Don't live anywhere near Hove but we often make the drive down just for these pastries :-) most things are an absolutely huge portion for a reasonable price (£4.50 for a huge savoury pastry literally the size of my head) - and the sourdough bread loaves available to buy are unreal too. I visit a lot of cafes but this has got to be one of the best I've ever been to. And the matcha is great! Just go! :-)
Tara D — Google review
Lovely atmosphere, caring staff, the most amazing vegan pan-au-chocolate I've ever had and a silky soya matcha latte (and the matcha was not powdery!) so happy to have this lil gem so close to my flat. Can't wait to visit more and try other vegan options.

Lovely little bakery Delicious coffees and sweet treats. I see quite a lot of reviews mentioning in the price but I don’t think people take it to consideration that everything is home-made and fresh every single time I’ve purchased food it has always been delicious and very tasty. I don’t mind paying a couple of extra pounds coming here instead of Somewhere like Costa where their sandwiches are pre-packed and sat in packaging for ages. Me and my daughter love coming in here most mornings :) x

Wow, this is a really good spot. The flat white was as smooth as a new born baby’s head and the bacon and egg bun was soft and crispy, sweet and salty, well balanced with the caramelised onions and was literally all I could have asked for in a breakfast bun. I went in there with no expectations, and left with a massive dopamine hit from the flavours and textures in my mouth. Plus, the fact they do beer and cocktails as well as breakfast and coffee is just the cherry on top cause you feel like you’re not in the UK anymore and in fact your sat on the corner of a street somewhere in Vienna.

Best. Sandwich. Ever. As a sandwich lover the hunt for a quality sandwich is never ending, but I think I’ve finally found one. The charcuterie royal houses Curing Rebels cold cuts (local producer!), creamy kale pesto, and cheese, and my word was it good on some salty and fluffy focaccia. Filling and hearty, it was more than enough for lunch. The cafe itself is quirky and has a great decor and vibe both inside and out. It is now top of my list to go for dinner, with they offer as well as the lunch and breakfast stuff that a normal cafe does. Small plates and natural wine, I cannot think of a better way to spend my evening!

I am so happy that Metrodeco has opened again! When I moved to Brighton last year, it was the first place where I had breakfast. I loved it and I really missed it over the last couple months. I was thrilled seeing it’s back and I could have brunch with my best friend today! Can’t wait to go back 😀

Finally a place that does amazing (and different) breakfast in Kemptown. It’s a great transformation from a tea room to a brunch place. New breakfast menu has modern and delicious choices, I have tried more than a few already! And it’s very reasonably priced, comparing similar dishes somewhere else. Looks amazing too (for all of you Instagramers). Add an extensive selection of teas, funky decor and the friendliest staff just to mention few. The place to go :)

We were underwhelmed by the new Metrodeco. Firstly, they didn't have our booking despite me ringing and actually speaking to a member of staff to book. Luckily it wasn't busy. They put two tables together for the five of us, but the two tables were at different height levels (by a fair number of cms !!). We had to request they change this. The pancakes were stone cold. They didn't have de-caf tea. Why didn't somebody run out and purchase some from the local supermarket? Metrodeco pride themselves on "artisan Teas" but could not deliver on this. The staff were very uninterested. We felt under valued as customers sadly. It could be a real goldmine, but needs input to raise the standards.

We were looking for a healthy and filling breakfast and great coffee .. saw the great reviews so thought we'd come here. Coffee was big and beautiful:) had a coconut latte , was perfect . So much choice on the menu, lots of pancake options , but I went for avocado on sourdough with veggie sausage and (well done) fried egg (as I like it !). Wife had veggie breakfast and lucky for me gave me half the home made baked beans .. This one of the best breakfasts we've ever had .. delicious and we will be back. Staff super helpful and friendly too. Highly recommended.

Delicious brunch food with lovely, helpful staff! Lots of veggie options available alongside meat options. Bottomless brunch options also available for 1.5 hours at a time at £20 pp. We didn't try this, but it seems like a great deal for those wanting alcohol with food.

Not overly impressed. Coffee was cold. Only sparkling cold drinks available at breakfast time (ironic!), no juices. The bacon/sausagemeat roll was good. The rest of the food was weak and very overpriced. The younger staff were friendly and doing their best but the more senior staff were quite rude, as if it was a hassle serving us. Outdoor seats are very close to a busy bit of road with lots of vans. Overpriced.
Jo P — Google review
I’d give this place 3 and a half stars. I ordered organic scrambled eggs on sourdough with avocado and mushrooms. Scrambled eggs were a bit odd and not favourable. The rest was okay. Seemed expensive at £15.80 for the portion size. I was asked 3 times if food was ok. I couldn’t be bothered to say eggs were bland. Small space but cute. Staff were friendly. If the scramble eggs were improved it would be so much better.

Overpriced. The service was excellent but we had to ask extra shots because the coffee wasn't strong enough, the toast could have been toasted further and the knives were too blunt. Also, there is not much space inside. But the place is charming and it's a lovely atmosphere.

Really small restaurant, crowded and noise due to limited space. Food... Not impressed at all but not the worst either, if you have other options try something else.
Claudia N — Google review
I'm giving this coffee shop the minimum because of the quality and taste of the coffee v the cost. £9.50 for two coffee's (decaf which they charge for) really really unnecessarily and ludicrously unjustifiably expensive. A bottle of water sets you back £5. Come. On.The staff and customer service was good but not at those eye watering prices. Go to Knoops opposite.

had a too good to go bag and this place exceeded expectations. staff was amazingly welcoming at the end of the day, had the best almond croissant i have ever tasted, well worth it. would definitely visit again even without the discount.

Little Miss Piggies is a brightly coloured, retro-style cafe that offers traditional English breakfast fare. It's popular for its cheap drinks and fun atmosphere, making it a great place for a quick bite before heading out into the city.
Brilliant service and good range of choice on menu. Playing excellent music! Our full English was as good as it gets , 'proper sausages' ,everything cooked well and consistent, and exactly what we wanted + the toast was delish. I had a peppermint tea, the drinks came in massive mugs - made my eyes light up ,because usually you pay loads and get a tiny cups worth. I highly recommend Herves and will certainly be back myself. Full breakfast is £11 ,which these days is reasonable and I'd happily pay it for what I recieved.

Egg Royale with salmon casually swimming in hollandaise sauce. No toast with full English. Saucer and a spoon with your coffee- forget about it. Stirred our coffee's with a fork.

I've come to this café on a midweek morning for breakfast and had a really good experience. The place has a good vibe, my breakfast was beautifully made and served by a courteous chef. The quality of the food, the prices, and the atmosphere will definitely make me come back again. Definitely recommend!

Truly the worst breakfast I’ve ever had in Brighton. Ordered scrambled eggs on toast. Toast was unbuttered and scrambled eggs clearly microwaved, flavourless and pale. Came with a “side salad” which was just cut up lettuce and a yellow dressing. Didn’t think anyone could get eggs on toast this wrong but they managed it!

I was pleased to see the cafe open again after it was closed for my last visit to Brighton in July. Sad news about the previous owner. I had a lovely breakfast and the service was fab too. The music gave a very relaxing atmosphere. I came back again today and everything was as good as yesterday. I'm glad the cafe is back and I'm liking Hervé's signature he's added to the place.

Very Unique Cafe situated on James Street, opposite the Co -op in Brighton. The food is amazing, you get more than you bargain for. Good food in big portions and not very expensive, affordable and value for money. Clean furniture and floors. Amazing staff; we met Katie, Gai and Stephan who go above and beyond to make customers happy. No delays and queues. They also offer take away as part of their service.

On those Saturdays after a night out before nothing hits the spot than a Full English and this has to be one of the best for hitting it ...

Had a good experience here. The place is cosy and the family running the place are really nice and accommodating, immediately offering a smile when we went in. We tried their Big English Breakfast, which was really good! Food presentation was lovely and really looked appetising! Also you can have it with toast, in our case we just had it regular meaning no toast but in the end we were still so full and satisfied. It’s just the coffee it was 2 shots but the cup was a bit to big and made it a bit weak, or maybe too much milk was added to our latte. So I suggest requesting to have another extra shot to your coffee! But in general recommend this place 100%. Well done!

A great cafe, themed on surfing but focusing on health and well-being. Friendly welcoming team. The food is fresh, tasty and good value for money. God to see the calorific and nutrition information so readily available. Recommend jacket potatoes and their salads. Great tasting decaf coffee. Very dog friendly.

My wife and I were looking for somewhere for brunch on a Saturday, and fortunately came across Lovefit Cafe. As it was a lovely early September day, we were able to sit outside and watch the people of Brighton go past, whilst enjoying our food and drink. The menu offered a varied and intersting array of options, and the coffee was very good.

Had the steak burger and sweet potato squash, the former was slightly tough but the latter was simply delicious. Coffee was great, as was the salad and of course, the carrot cake.

Absolutely perfect place with the kindest people and the most tasty food. If you are near the train station do try it here. A note to the lovely server last ,"I now love bungee jumping!" 😆🙌

Great little place for a quick meal or just nice tea or coffee or two. Staff were all nice, location was good, nothing bad really. Food was nice, can't knock them, price was alright too. Interior was nicely presented, yet very homely. Come here if you want a good experience. P.S. There's seating outside too..

A little gem. The owners were lovely, the cafe was lovely and the food was great. This little place really surprised us, as just popped in hoping for something breakfasty. We ordered 1 Full English, and 1 Baby Breakfast. Both were very generously portioned with very good quality food for a very decent price, and the tea for 2 was also very generously sized. I wish I lived closer, as I would be in here all the time. Thank you for a great experience ☺️

When we googled somewhere to eat “Shane’s Kitchen” did not really provide inspiration. This was mainly because the only Shane I ever knew was a short, rotund, smelly, greasy man with bad teeth 🤦🏻‍♀️ so I just had visions of him cooking. How wrong I was, this place was lovely, colourful and really funky! My friend and I were on a girlie weekend so after passing it on previous days and realising the “Shane” I knew didn’t actually work there, we headed there for our hangover cure on Sunday morning. As well as a whopper breakfasts they did an amazing selection of cakes and home made sausage rolls that were epic - wish I took more photos! Really lovely place and I am confident it will not disappoint. From memory I think they did vegetarian options too and gluten free.

Awesome spot in Rotingdean near Brighton if you’re biking along the coastal path. Incredible delicious food love the sausage roll and cappuccino was so good. Also had the bread pudding so yummy. There is a Beryl bike stop at the top of the hill so nice bike ride from Brighton to Rotingdean and walked back to work off what you eat. Just amazing views and a wonderful lunch.

I can't fault this lovely cafe... What an amazing selection of homemade cakes... Absolutely stunning. I, however, had a big breakfast, one of the best, if not the best breakfast I've had, beautiful bacon, lovely sausages... Well cooked, well presented. Just to add to the experience, the guy who was cooking (a Scottish guy) was genuinely funny. I left with a full stomach and a smile on my face. I honestly hope I can get back here. Well done and thank you.

An absolute gem! You’ll know it by the gorgeous cakes in the window! Come inside and you’ll be welcomed by the friendly owner Barry. At first we just came for the Bounty Coconut Brownie Cake, which was decadent! We were having such a great time chatting to Barry, that we had some sandwiches to stay longer 😃 Such a lovely experience and we hope to visit again next time we’re in Brighton!

Pelicano Coffee Co. is a beloved spot in Brighton, known for its laid-back vibe and unique style. The rustic coffee shop offers a cozy atmosphere with pavement seating, perfect for enjoying lattes, pastries, and bagel sandwiches. With multiple locations across the city, Pelicano is a must-visit destination for specialty coffee enthusiasts. The independent coffee shop serves an extensive range of coffees from various countries and roasts them on-site.
We all got our own variations of chai lattes, one diary - very nice, 2 non dairy with oat milk, one of which had an extra syrup shot and a nice cake to share between us. Really lovely people, there are quiet times and busy times both are pleasant. Cute and quaint place.

This place is a decent cafe, but comparing the coffee, cakes and vibes to other cafes in Brighton, I think it’s just off the mark. My coffee was nice, a decent flat white, though a little beyond the pleasant levels of bitter, whether that be the roast or the pull. Nice milk though and the latte art was cute! The cakes and bakes did look great, and my cardamom bun was nice, but it wasn’t ’delicious’. Seemingly a little old, too doughy and lacking the finesse, though with a welcomed subtle cardamom flavour. The decor and vibes were again interesting, with only outdoor style furniture inside, making the place seem a little uncomfortable and harsh. The staff were genuinely lovely though and made up for any missing character. Pelicano’s is okay, it’s good, it’s alright. It falls somewhere in that bracket for me, but each to their own!

Popped in on a Sunday morning for a hot chocolate and a slice of lemon cake. We sat in the small garden at the rear, which is a nice little sun trap and feels very sheltered from the bustle on the street outside. The chocolate was very good, but the cake was superb. A generous slice with a rich buttery filling. It was absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit!

Yes i do Vibes are great, decor is lovely and plentiful seating the toilet is also so cuteee great for some mirror selfies and the reed diffusers smell insane (clean toilets too btw) Best flat white i have ever had coffee taste great and milk so smooth and silky

We stopped here on a rainy afternoon for a much needed coffee and lunch break. The atmosphere was great, barista and wait staff were friendly. We had some of the sandwiches for lunch which were lovely. The main event however was the coffee. We ordered a decaf and a regular cappuccino. The coffee was rich and dark unlike many other weaker/lighter roast coffees that cafes in the UK tend to serve. The milk was textured well and had the right balance of foam to milk for a cappuccino. The coffee also came with chocolate powder on top which doesn’t seem to be standard in the UK for a cappuccino either. Easily one of the best coffees we’ve had in the UK.
