Restaurant
Bankers Traditional Fish & Chip Restaurant is a popular counter-service takeaway chain known for its battered fish 'n' chips, pork ribs, and chicken. It strikes the perfect balance between a classic fish and chip shop and a more upscale dining experience. The restaurant offers sustainable fish options like cod served with perfectly cooked chips in fancy cardboard boxes. Bankers has been an integral part of Brighton's culinary scene since the 1920s, with a rich history of serving crispy bliss to locals and visitors alike.
How did I not write a review after coming 4 consecutive years? The place to go every time I am in Brighton and it is annual August bank holiday where I come here for a good fish and chips meal. It started off in 2021 where I wanted to try the best fish and chips in Brighton and this restaurant popped up. Initially we ordered mixed seafood platter and fish and chips to share. The wife preferred a proper fish itself rather than mixed seafood platter. The subsequent years we went just fish and chips meal! The large fish and chips are really gigantic and I loved them so much. Juicy and tender! They started the chips refill last year and thought that was nice gesture as customers are able to refill more chips. I had like 2 refills. I was really full for sure at the end of this meal. The chips are give and take, sometimes it can be over fried and hard. They are the fresh potatoes for sure, fluffy in the middle and proper chunky size 😀. I guess if it’s free refill, you can always get a nice fresh ones perfectly cooked. Overall, this is a an amazing restaurant and I will come back again in near future if I am in Brighton again.

Our family recently visited Bankers Fish & Chips in Hove. Located on Western Road, our car was parked on a nearby road. The restaurant offers a welcoming and casual atmosphere, perfect for families. The service stood out as exceptional—staff were attentive & friendly. The food was great. The fish was fresh, cooked to perfection with a golden, crispy batter that wasn’t overly greasy. The chips were equally impressive—chunky, hot, and perfectly seasoned and unlimited if you want!! Great tasting fish and chips with fantastic service. Highly recommend.

We read loads of mixed reviews on reddit, and to those who didn’t enjoy it, I’m sorry to say I don’t share the same sentiment. Bankers was the BOMB. Fish was perfectly fried and fresh. Chips were crisp and tasty. And to top it off, best curry sauce I’ve had yet. Shoutout to the gorgeous Brighton sun that blessed us during the meal, it was the cherry on a very delicious cake. Take my money. The Bankers delivered 💯💯

Really wanted to eat fish and chips during my trip to Brighton. After reviewing several reviews, decided to come here to try! Fish and chips were definitely really good!! Fish was fresh, well battered and fried. Also ordered their home made trifle which was really good!! Overall, a very good and satisfying meal. Price wise, don’t expect a typical fish and chippy shop price. Cost around GBP20 for a fish and chip meal. Include drinks and dessert, and you can expect to pay 30-35/ pax.
Andrew — Google review
Had the fish and chips, mushy peas as well. Everything was fresh and to standard. Louis was really helpful and patient with our order and made sure we had everything we needed with our meal. Great customer service. The restaurant is clean and organized. Tartar sauce was not included which is a downside but that is sadly the norm in most chippies these days. They are least had a homemade tartar sauce. I would recommend!

Sure! Here’s a short review you could use: --- Went to Bankers Fish and Chip Restaurant and had the cod and chips with curry sauce – absolutely delicious! The food was perfectly cooked, the service was outstanding, and the whole experience was spot on. Highly recommend this place if you’re after quality fish and chips.

“I really enjoyed the fish and chips at this restaurant, the taste was absolutely delicious and perfect! The waiter’s service was very classy and made me feel very welcome. A wonderful experience and I will definitely be back!”

The Regency Restaurant is a long-standing establishment located on the iconic seafront promenade in Brighton. Housed in a beautiful building that was once a palatial seafront home, it offers stunning views of the beach and pier. The restaurant is popular among locals, foodie tourists, and even celebrities. With its no-frills bistro style, it serves up locally caught seafood prepared in various ways, from battered to grilled or fried, accompanied by chips or salad.
Celebrated my birthday here in Regency was such an amazing experience. Especially Natasha and her team looked after us very well and made my birthday very special. Thank you guys. I would definitely recommend this place… ❤️❤️❤️

The restaurant was packed but still managed to find a table for the 6 of us. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We all had fish and chips (£14.50) fish tasted nice, but portion sizes weren’t the same for everyone. Comes with chips only; mushy peas are an extra £1.95. Oysters were excellent and worth trying. Overall, a bit overpriced for me.
Cosmin T — Google review
The Regency is famed for its range of sea food dishes so alongside the fish and chips, we also had the garlic butter scallops. The fish and chips were fried to perfection, crispy fish and fluffy chips, the curry sauce had a nice spicy, sweetness to it. The Garlic Butter Scallops were very fresh, good portion and tasted delicious. My only criticism is that the portion sizes are quite small for the price, would appreciate a bigger fish and more chips for the price paid. That being said, Regency is very busy and it seems to be the place to go in Brighton for tourists, locals and celebrities. Take a look at the customers and you will see a range of nations enjoying their food, mixed in with the locals. Also take a walk to The Regency’s downstairs bathroom and you can see their wall of fame littered with famous faces from around the world, they really have had everybody pass through their doors, one patron that caught my eye was Hideo Kojima, yes, THAT Hideo Kojima, well, if it’s good enough for Kojima, it’s gets my vote.

Was recommended by locals for their fish and chips - and they do not disappoint! Flakey fresh cod, chunky chips and fresh garden peas. We also ordered their seafood pasta which was packed with flavour. Grilled prawns and scallops were fresh and portions were humongous (were asians so they are huge to us) Had their draft ales and were very quenching indeed. Had a wonderful meal and their staffs were ever attentive and always checked on us throughout dinner. Perfect start for dinner when visiting brighton.
Marissa W — Google review
Really good fish. Haddock was flaky and the batter was crisps. The chips were fine but possibly slightly overcooked. We were sat outside so had the view of the sea. Decently priced, and great service too.
Rubina N — Google review
In Brighton for a week with my students I chose this restaurant for the last evening meal. I booked a table for two by a window. As soon as you enter this place you are pleasantly overwhelmed by the smell of fish based dishes. I had a starter, a delicious fish soup and a main course that I shared with my colleague - The Mediterranean with hake, mussels, clams, scallops and King prawns. The staff is welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend this place in Brighton if you look for something different from fish and chips.
Piccioni S — Google review
Had our celebration dinner after completing the London to Brighton ride 2025. The staff were wonderful and kindly let us lock our bikes within sight, right between the outdoor tables and the restaurant window. It was the perfect spot to enjoy a heartwarming, delicious meal while the rain came down outside—just what we needed before heading home
Zoe H — Google review
This place is a reach treat! I came in around 5 o clock and was seated immediately. I order the Brighton G&T as well as the extravaganza seafood platter. Everything was tasty, fresh and cooked really well. A little pricey but given the area, most things were pricey especially seafood of this kind of quality. Service was amazing, I was checked on frequently and received my food within 10 minutes of being seated. Seating is a little tight so when it got busy, everyone was a little closer on each other than I’d like. However, a great time was had. Outside seating is also available but if you come on a day when the weather isn’t favorable you might prefer a table inside. If you’re in Brighton you should definitely make this place one of your stops.

Bardsley's is a family-run fish and chip shop located on Baker Street in Brighton, close to the Brighton Open Market. It is known for its exceptional reputation and serves as a true community hub. The restaurant offers casual eat-in dining with a sun-roofed annex or takeaway options. Situated slightly away from the tourist areas, it is split into two sections - one for takeaway and the other as a chaotically decorated restaurant.
I was moved to Brighton for a few years , but haven’t tried fish n chips before, one day when I was checking too good to go , I found that they offer a takeaway fish n chips with only £3.99 . That was really a great deal for me to try fish n chips ! Of course even it is a too good to go bags , the food still hot and their staff are friendly when I was collecting! I really enjoy to tried fish n chips with that price with this quality.

Great experience here. The hosts are very welcoming and lively! We were a walk-in but it's best to book ahead as I think they get busy. We got regular cod and chips, large cod and chips, curry sauce, mushy peas, butter roll, teas and cokes. Batter on the fish was light and crispy, chips were so-so but nicr nonetheless and I'm sure there's something magical they put in the buttered roll! There is one unisex toilet, clearly marked, towards the back of the building. It was clean and tidy. Only downside is the lack of parking but we found some in a side road, Kingsbury Road, which is a one-way street. Parking is paid for through the PayByPhone app. Maximum 2 hours parking in February costs £7.40 through the app and there's no return within 4 hours.

We had fish and chips at Bardsley’s and they were absolutely delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is a bit outside the city center, but it’s definitely worth the trip. Prices were reasonable. Highly recommended!
Max W — Google review
I don't like giving low star reviews but this week I popped into Bardsleys to get some chippy chips for tea. It was not late in the day, only about 5.30 and I bought a large portion to take away. It was only when I got them home and dished them out that I could see how disappointing they were. They had clearly been fried and re-fried and maybe even fried again. We had some Bardsleys chips in the freezer from a previous visit which we decided to defrost and have the next day. You can see the difference in the photo. Those on the right - lovely and golden and appetising - had been in the freezer for a week or so. Those on the left - nasty looking - were bought fresh the day before.
Abigail S — Google review
Probably the best Fish'n'Chips in Brighton. It's off the main street so a real hidden gem. Delicious food, good size portions and both glasses of Malbec & Sauvignon Blanc were served at perfect temperatures and didn't break the Bank. No starter and too full to eat dessert!
Alison F — Google review
Lives up to the hype. Simple fish and chips done to perfection in a typical restaurant. Worth the detour from the station if you’re visiting as a tourist.
Ryan M — Google review
This place was recommended as the top fish and chip spot in Brighton. The food was tasty - I had the haddock, and it was well-cooked - but unfortunately, there was a small piece of sponge mixed in with the chips. I mentioned it to the waitress at the end, and while she said she would inform the kitchen, there was no apology or sense of concern. For a restaurant with such a strong reputation, I expected a more professional and caring response to a hygiene issue. Nobody wants to find a piece of dish sponge in their food. I rarely visit Brighton, but next time I might just bring my own food - so that I know what I eat.

Very cute cafe (above the fish and chips shop), owned by the same owner as the restaurant downstairs. Lovely latte and oreo cake, very chilled environment. Definitely recommend🥰

Wolfies Of Hove is a beloved local spot in the quieter neighborhood bordering Brighton, offering an edgy and grimey vibe with graffiti-covered benches and walls adorned with posters for upcoming gigs. The eatery takes pride in its sustainably sourced seafood and potatoes, appealing to eco-conscious fish and chip lovers. With over 25 years of experience, this family-run business serves the finest, sustainable fish alongside locally sourced chips.
Went here as they did gluten free fish n chips (everyday, all day). Good portion sizes. Prices are amazing compared to London prices. Not far from the beach either.

Obviously under new management this place used to be awesome but now it's super greasy when before even on deliveroo it was amazing but now just utterly covered in grease, poorly battered not fresh tasting fish and terrible chips. Super bad packaging (chips swimming in grease packed under the dripping fish) and cold - will not be going back. Edit: full refund from deliveroo from the pics we sent them.
Princess D — Google review
My food was absolutely dire! I usually love your chips but they were soggy and tasted like starch. The fish looked beautiful, but it left an unpleasant taste in my mouth. I’ll stick to ramsbottoms! Their customer service is also brilliant. They care what their customers think.
Luke A — Google review
Stumbled upon this place when I was starving hungry at like 2:30 in the afternoon. I was very happy to get super hot fresh food super quickly. I had a battered sausage and chips, the sausage was super nice quality and the chips were decent too. The prices were also very reasonable if you ask me. Hopefully I’ll find myself in the area and in need of food again because I wanna try the halloumi next!
Colin L — Google review
We ordered a large cod dinner for two. Gluten free. I’ve eaten from here before and the food has been okay. This time food was completely inedible. Batter dried to a crisp, the fish was so dried out it was completely inedible. The whole dinner went in the bin. Complete waste of our time and our £20. I tried to complain and rang up but no manager available. They said he would be in in the next couple days. No email to write anything, so hence this review I mean you just can’t serve food up like this and expect people to eat it! We had to go out and get chips from round the corner. We were left hungry out of pocket and very disappointed
Janet C — Google review
Local chippy. Been going here for a year is yet to let us down! Gluten free fish and chips are amazing, super clean, fresh and tasty! All the staff are very polite, attentive and professional. I don’t know why it’s got some bad reviews on here, but I do know we’ve eaten here at least 20 times and had nothing but a great experience!

Dare I say... Best chips I've EVER had! omg, perfect chip, to salt to vinegar ratio. Also impressed of availability (and size) of vegan sausages. Can't wait for my next visit when I'm local.

Fish & chips restaurant
No Catch is a vegan fish and chips shop in Brighton, founded by vegan activist Earthling Ed. It offers a contemporary setting for classic chip shop dishes like fish, sausages, and fried chicken with an ethical twist. The menu includes convincing 'tofish' substitute to vegan cod, smoked haddock, tempura prawnz, and other innovative dishes that closely mimic the traditional British fish and chip experience.
I've been here once a year for 3 years straight and it is easily the best vegan food I've had love it so much. The fish tastes and looks like fish. This year I had the Battered sausages and wow. I've been a vegetarian for ten years now so was mind blown with how good they were it was like a nostalgic trip. If this place was in Portsmouth I'd be very overweight and Very broke.

We visited on a Saturday and the restaurant was packed – it was hard to find a seat! We ordered the Jumbo Battered Vegan Saveloy & Chips, the Jumbo Lemon Shrimp, and (if I got it right) the Oreo Dough. Personally, I found the vegan saveloy a bit too chewy, and the lemon shrimp was more of a standard mock seafood texture. That said, it’s still a fun and unique spot, and I really respect what they’re doing as a fully vegan fish and chip place. Great vibe overall, and I hope they keep developing even more delicious recipes!
NATTHA P — Google review
Absolutely amazing vegan fish & chip shop. The haddock has the right amount of fishy taste without being an overpowering flavour and oh my the crispiest of batters - perfect to dip in the tasty mushy peas and curry sauce. The chips also had a great crunch and were lovely chunky chips. Cooked perfectly. Also had the vegan Calamari which was great to try as is rare to find a vegan version. Everything was so delicious. Service spot on and friendly advice on the options. Looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended 🙏💚🙏
James W — Google review
I’ve never actually had fish and chips before going vegan, so I don’t have much to compare it to—but as a Norwegian, I do know my fish, and I really miss it. This was seriously good. The vegan fish and chips were fantastic—generous portion size, with the standard menu offering four pieces of fish and a ton of chips (or fries, as I’d say). I tried it with both the spicy sauce and tartare, and also added a side of calamari rings. Honestly, the calamari was so close to the real thing I was almost shocked. The service was super friendly and helpful, especially for someone who’s never eaten traditional fish and chips—they even showed me how to use the sauces and condiments. The restaurant itself was small and cozy, but it somehow managed to fit everyone comfortably. All in all: 10 out of 10. Totally recommend this place—vegan or not, I think everyone will leave happy.
Ludvig — Google review
Must try for vegans in Brighton! I tried the vegan haddock and cod. Whilst they were both lovely, I preferred the vegan haddock as it had slightly more texture. The chips were perfectly crisp and the mushy peas were seasoned to perfection, an absolute delight. The vegan sausage was also decent if you're interested.
Jannat A — Google review
Without a doubt giving this place 5 stars. We had cod goujons, battered sausage and chips, then deep fried oreo for dessert. And it was absolutely incredible! I have never come across a vegan fish and chip shop in the UK so this place is one of a kind. Being a seaside girl, I always loved going to the chip shop, so this was an experience aswell as eating the most tasty food! Pros: Amazing food, Traditional salt and vinegar pots on the tables, Nice staff Cons: None
Jessica G — Google review
Was so lovely to find a vegan fish and chip shop! Vegan calamari was out of this world!!! The vegan fish texturally didn’t taste like fish but definitely had the fishy taste with the nori sheets. The batter was very nice and crispy. Staff was lovely!! Pricing was alright for the type of food and the place!

RYBKA, a trendy eatery located in the South Lanes, offers a modern twist on the classic fish and chips experience. The name "RYBKA" is derived from an old Polish saying that translates to "the fish likes to swim," reflecting the establishment's focus on high-quality seafood. This chippy has garnered positive reviews for its responsibly sourced fish, chunky chips, and crispy batter.
I had a delightful meal here with my chef friend. This is his fave place and I can see why. The owner and staff were utterly friendly and welcoming. The classic fish and chips are amazing, with a crisp batter encasing a hearty piece of Haddock, with some great peas and awesome curry sauce. The spritz drink was brilliant too. Utterly scrumptious, best of the best easily! Do Not Miss!!

A fantastic fish and chips shop right in the heart of Brighton’s famous Lanes! An outstanding place to enjoy immaculately fresh, perfectly cooked fish and chips. The service is excellent—staff are super friendly, wonderfully polite, and exceptionally well-mannered. If you’re in Brighton, this is a must-visit spot you definitely don’t want to miss!

Stepping into this spot, tucked away in a hidden alley, felt like discovering a well-kept secret. It's got a fantastic, buzzing atmosphere, and the staff are genuinely friendly, making you feel right at home. Now, onto the food that really stole the show. The calamari? Absolutely brilliant, well cooked. And a huge win: it wasn't greasy at all, which is always a pleasant surprise with fried food. The chips were solid, and their curry as well as tartare sauces were a fantastic complement, tying everything together beautifully. Definitely worth seeking out for a visit. I'll certainly be back for more!

Delicious fish and chips! The batter is crispy, the fish is tender, the chips are perfectly fried, and the portions are generous. We didn’t reserve and were able to grab a table for lunch shortly after they opened. That said, they got really busy so I’d recommend reservations if possible, particularly if you have a large group. There is a moderate amount of indoor seating and a couple of larger tables outside. They also offer gluten-free options.

Perfectly cooked fish, batter is amazing. The chips were unbelievable. I'm not sure I'll ever have a fry, or chip, that good ever again. I've tasted potato nirvana. Completely crisp all over. Light and fluffy inside. The haddock was fantastic as well. Curry and tarter sauces were scratch made, too. I'll be chasing this high for years..

Based on the positive reviews, we decided to try RYBKA and were not disappointed. Quite disappointed because I have searched for good fish in town and I understand is out of season... Less customers.... But... Soggy fish ( 😢)and not mentioned in advertising about "herring+vodka" is only seasonal deal (I am not only one who asked for it when I was in)... Nestled just a stone's throw from the sparkling sea, Captain's Fish and Chips stands as a beloved staple in Brighton’s culinary scene for nearly 35 years. This charming eatery is renowned for its perfectly fried cod enveloped in a light, crispy batter that leaves diners raving about its delightful flavor. The generous portions of chips are not only plentiful but also come with the added bonus of free refills on your second visit!
I wasn’t sure what to expect but this place turned out to be an excellent choice. The fish was clearly high quality (moist, flaky, and full of flavour) wrapped in a crisp, golden batter that actually had taste. The portion size was fairly generous without being excessive. The chips were decent (not the highlight) but they did the job. What also stood out was the service: the staff were kind, attentive, and impressively efficient. A great spot by the seafront I’d definitely come back to.

My husband and I both really enjoyed our meals here. There are tables outside and inside. We ordered at the counter and they brought our food to us when it was ready. The fish was flaky and delicious and the chips were great. Staff were friendly and helpful. The location is right on the beach and easy to get to down the stairs.

I visited with my international students — it was their first time trying fish and chips, and they absolutely loved it! The portion size was great; I just about managed to finish mine. The place is located by the beachfront, so when the weather is nice, you can sit outside on the patio. That said, as we experienced, UK weather can be unpredictable! We were glad to sit inside, where it was warm and comfortable. This place is great all year round. The staff were incredibly kind and looked after my students, my colleague, and me so well😭 Thank you so, so much for your kindness! I really appreciate it!

Probably the best fish and chips that I have ever eaten. They were delivered hot, they were flaky with a proper batter, oh so tasty. Absolutely delicious. I also loved the free refills on the fries which were also delivered hot and wonderful taste. And naturally, paired perfectly with ice cold beer, with attentive, quick friendly service. Two thumbs up.

Absolutely the best fish and chips I’ve had in the UK! The fish was perfectly crispy, the chips were delicious, and everything was served piping hot. The owner is incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. And the seaside view? Absolutely stunning. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Brighton!

Best fish and chips I have had in a long time! Fish was soft and flakey, the batter perfectly light and crispy. Chips were cooked to perfection and consistent throughout. Don’t be fooled by the portion size the chips are refillable! Just as a cherry on top, the service was brilliant, super hospitable and accommodating for my dog.

Tried Captain’s Fish and Chips on the seafront - overall a decent experience, but a few things hold it back. First off, the food was genuinely good: the fish was fresh, with a light and crispy batter, and the chips were well-cooked and satisfying. Definitely solid quality for the price, which is quite reasonable. That said, I ordered a “large” cod, and to be honest, it felt more like a medium or small portion - definitely not what I’d consider “jumbo.” I dislike it when you get charged for ketchup and tartare sauce, these should be complimentary. 60p each? The venue itself is where things fall short. Inside, the place felt quite smoky and greasy, with a generally unclean atmosphere. Food is served on disposable plates with wooden cutlery, which takes away from the experience a bit. Outside, you’ve got a great view of the pier and it’s right by the beach, which is a big plus - but be warned: there are pigeons wandering around your feet and seagulls eyeing your food like hawks. Verdict: Good fish and chips, worth a visit for the food alone. But if they gave the place a deep clean and made it feel fresher and more welcoming, I’d happily bump this up to 5 stars.

The Salt Room is a chic and modern British restaurant located in Brighton, offering stunning sea views and a terrace for alfresco dining. It has been recognized as the Seafood Restaurant of the Year in 2017, known for its sustainable and locally sourced seafood dishes. The menu, crafted by Chef Dave Mothersill, features an array of freshly prepared seafood options such as cuttlefish, oysters, lobster, and sea bass.
I visited The Salt Room with my wife tonight for her birthday. We were greeted at the door by a French Manager who was very friendly, with a great accent. He sat us at a lovely table by the window and made sure we were very well looked after. Our waiter was Gabor, who similarly was very friendly and genuinely only interested to ensure we had a lovely experience. He filleted out fish in front of us and took time to recommend all the specials. The food was absolutely fantastic. My favourite of all the dishes was the dover sole. Even the desserts at the end were fantastic. We will definitely be back soon and would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Fantastic food, but absolutely the staff made our evening so special. It felt like nothing was too much trouble for them.

We had a fantastic lunch here mid week. The food quality is quite simply outstanding, and as for the shellfish I have to say we were delighted. My wife and I have just returned from a 2 month stay in the Algarve's biggest fishing port where seafood and fresh fish is obviously plentiful so we were wondering how we would fare on our return to the UK after that. We were not disappointed, the XL prawns were locally sourced, fresh and absolutely delicous. The ribeye steak was perfectly cooked and the Piri-piri Monkfish my wife had was also excellent. It's not cheap, but it's more than a meal - it's an experience - the wines, top class service and ambiance all adds to it and the hosts clearly take great pride in what they do, so it's worth paying the extra if you can afford it. They claim it's Brighton's best seafood restaurant and I have no reason to doubt that. It's certainly a high bar. Looking forward to coming back one day, sadly we don't get to Brighton more than once a year.

We had a wonderful dinner yesterday at The Salt Room. The restaurant was full of atmosphere, yet we were comfortably seated at a large table. The service was excellent – the waiters were friendly, attentive, and clearly very professional. On their advice, we ordered the monkfish to share, served with mussels and moqueca sauce. It was simply gorgeous – beautifully cooked and full of flavour. To finish, we had the lemon tart and truffles, both of which were outstanding. A truly memorable dining experience. Many thanks to the team at The Salt Room.

We had the most wonderful meal at the Salt Room. Excellent customer service from the moment we walked through the door. Ben looked after us for the whole evening and helped us with a fabulous wine choice. Thank you Ben we really appreciated your excellent customer service! The food was excellent- best scallops I’ve ever had. Finished with a delicious Old Fashioned cocktail. I would recommend the food here. Different options to suit too. Lovely!

We had an amazing dining experience at The Salt Room! The food was absolutely unforgettable — we ordered the mixed seafood grill and the dry-aged beef steak, and both were cooked to perfection. Every bite was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was lovely, and the service was friendly and attentive. I forgot to take photos, but the taste said it all — truly a memorable meal!

This place had been on our bucket list for a long time and we had booked months in advance. Sadly I have to say we were deeply disappointed with the Salt room. We arrived and were shown to our table. We ordered the scallops and the ceviche as starters and the monk fish to share. The starters were very good. From Here on our experience went down hill very fast! The monk fish, £60 to share, we were given a side plate each and no way of serving the sauce and to be honest I would have expected a little garnish, even if it was just chopped parsley! Overall the food was ok as seen in the pictures. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about the service, we watched with glee as the table opposite us were pandered to topping up there wine, engaging with conversation asking if everything was ok, we had nothing! No interaction of any kind with our waiter. My wife never complains, but thought today she would, She was told by the maitre’d that “well it was his birthday yesterday and may be he shouldn’t be in work today! We were asked if we wanted a drink as way of an apology, to which we didn’t agree but were given, we then started to talk to the couple on the table opposite us and explained our experience to them, whilst doing so our waiter was swooped out, although by then we had finished our meal. The maitre’d then comes to our table and asked us to leave stating “we require your table back NOW”. As we were leaving he turned to us both and said the we were black listed and must never return! As we had spoken to the couple on the opposite table. To say we were both gobsmacked is an understatement! We have never been treated like this in our lives and will not ever consider going back. What a totally over rated over priced pretentious establishment!

We love it here. We normally go before a concert, in this case the wonderful ABC. The food and service is exceptional and the way the decor was put in place is amazing and a nice story behind it. Having had general surgery only two days before, the staff had no issue with sorting out my lobster so I could eat it with one hand ! We both think this place and staff are fantastic. Oh the fries with the lobster are just so nice.....

English's of Brighton is a renowned seafood restaurant located in three former fishermen's cottages. It offers top-quality seafood and service, with a full a la carte menu available during lunch and a great value set menu. The refined dining room features famous paintings and comfortable banquettes, while the sunny terrace is perfect for summer dining. Established over 150 years ago, English's serves locally caught fish, scallops, crab, and lobster.
English's of Brighton provided a truly delightful dinner experience. I can't recommend the seafood tagliatelle enough; it was absolutely splendid. The fantastic service and great atmosphere made it a perfect evening out.

I had the most amazing birthday dinner at English’s. Service of 11/10! Everyone were so kind and attentive, food is so delicious here. I absolutely loved their cooked oysters. And will definitely come back for more. I had a medium rare dry aged sirloin and it was so delicious and tender not rubbery at all. And the birthday dessert plates were so cute! The décor of the restaurant strikes a perfect balance between elegance and warmth, with cozy tables with crisp white linens, pretty flowers, and a chandelier that makes the whole place glow. It feels classic but super inviting, like the perfect mix of fancy and comfortable.

A lovely spot for very classical seafood. The outside seating in the summer is excellent for people watching. The food was fresh, with simple flavours that let the quality shine. Our server Hannah struck the perfect balance of both friendly and professional. We will definitely be back!

Came to Brighton for a day trip. Was recommended this restaurant by a family member who had been before. Nice cosy old-school vibes. It was a sunny, warm summers day, so we sat outside. There was a range of dishes, but we went for the £27 for 2 course summer set menu, as it seemed a good value for money. I ordered raw rock oysters as starter. Got 3 fresh oysters which were fresh and juicy. Came nice and cold, with the mignonette and ponzu dressing. Delicious! Another person on the table ordered salt and pepper calamari and even though portion was small, with 3 large pieces of calamari, the taste was amazing and it was so fresh. The fish and chips were crispy and fish was flaky. Though again, could do with a few more chips. Tartare sauce was great! The mussels marinieres was exceptional. The sauce was extra creamy and goes well with chips. For the price of the set menu, its great value for money! Would highly recommend! There was bread that came to the table with delicious mackerel pate. But you will need to pay for a cover charge for this. Drinks menu was extensive. Staff were very friendly. Highly recommend. Women’s toilet was up some narrow stairs at the top of the building.

The service was great and the environment was nice. We ordered the “ cold platter ” for two ( £52 per person), but the prawn wasn’t very fresh. Overall, still a pleasant experience.

Tucked away in The Lanes and within sight of the sea, English’s feels like the definition of Brighton on a plate. The restaurant occupies what were once fishermen’s cottages, dating back well over 400 years. Inside, crisp white linen and small roses on the tables bring a quiet elegance, while art deco artwork adds just the right amount of glamour. The menu balances tradition with a modern touch, and it shows in every dish. I had the mussels and fries alongside a few oysters. Simple, fresh, and done beautifully. What stood out even more was the service. Ashley made dining solo feel effortless, with just the right mix of attentiveness and warmth. For anyone craving seafood with character and history behind it, this spot is a gem.

Such a fantastic restaurant, the last time I visited was about 15 years ago when I lived in Brighton , so I had to stop by for lunch while I was in the area and it was every bit as good as I remember. If only you would open up in Manchester 🙏🏼. Exceptional, fresh produce , great staff, I love everything about this place.

An absolute gem in Brighton! The seafood was out of this world every bite fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The oysters and scallops? Perfection. But what truly made the experience unforgettable were the charismatic waiters who turned our lunch into full-on entertainment. Great energy, witty banter, and top-notch service from start to finish. If you’re in Brighton and want more than just a meal - go here. You’ll leave with a full belly and a big smile.

The rating should be 4.5 rather than 4. The only reason for it not being 5 was the portion of my fish dish as explained in the review below. The overall experience was outstanding. My friends and I decided to to go to Brighton for lunch. As I am Gluten Free it takes ages to find Gluten Free restaurants. I finally narrowed down 2 Sushi restaurants. When we reached there 1 of the 3 of us decided they didn't feel like Sushi 😐 and preferred local sea food being in Brighton; which in hindsight was a good call as we had a fantastic meal at Riddle & Finns. We googled Sea food restaurants and Riddle & Finns showed up. I knew it was pricey so had omitted it from my selection but since everyone was hungry we decided to take a look. When we went in it was busy but because they had a 4 course set menu for 35 pounds and the food smelt divine we decided to eat there. They had a separate Gluten Free menu which was great and were very particular about food allergy. We started with a bread basket with Mackerel Pate, Taramasalata and horse radish sauce. When they brought it and I asked if they had some GF bread, they whisked it away and brought another one with Gluten free Blinis as the bread was in the tray with the Pate and so they didn't want to risk cross contamination. The Pate was so delicious we were wondering whether to get another round! My friends got the seafood platter as a main which was 75 pounds minimum 2 people. They said it was very good with scallops, oysters, mussels, prawns & Octopus. I had the #Gluten Free Smoked Haddock fillet on a bed of Colcannon, with poached egg, Prosciutto and Champagne sauce. The Sauce was delicious, the fish very fresh BUT the fish was wafer thin. It was most likely sliced horizontally as no fish is that thin. For 29 pounds I didn't expect to eat more potatoes than fish! This was my only complaint hence the 4 star rating. I expected a chunky piece of fish. There was an offer on the Negronis for 5 pounds each and 1 round Free if you join their membership. The Negroni was served in a really small glass hence the 5 pounds but was well made. The other 2 finished with a beautiful looking dessert platter that they said was yummy but unfortunately the only #GF dessert was a truffle or Ice cream. When I tried to pick a truffle off the plate from the side without the Gluten, Dave the server said he'd bring me a fresh truffle if I wanted and not to take a chance as he took allergies very seriously. Dave rocks! He took such good care of my Gluten Free requirements. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for good sea food, good service and a lovely atmosphere with candles on the table too 😃 Big shout out to our server Dave for his fantastic service.

Amazing special of scallops in a chicken butter sauce was the standout for me. I also had lemon sole with samphire sauce and heritage tomatoes and optional extra of burrata which was very nice. Very good unobtrusive service in very nice surroundings in the jewellery quarter. Place for a treat/special occasion. Service included.

We sat outside on a rainy day as we had our dog with us but it’s not a dog friendly resturant. The food is delicious but it’s quite pricey. We would definitely come back for special occasions.

Special chef's edit until 7pm with a choice of 4 different dishes (different prices for how many you choose), great value to taste different foods. I had the miso squid soup (delicious) and sashimi special, excellent seasoning for £25. Before, I took the bread basket, £6, for makerel paté and tamara. Service nice, attractive surroundings.

The Coal Shed Brighton is a modern restaurant with a wooden floor and industrial details, specializing in locally sourced meat and fish. While known for its steaks, the chefs also excel at preparing fish on charcoal grills. The restaurant's smaller plates feature seafood cooked to perfection over open flames. A must-try dish is the wood-fired cod, showcasing the establishment's mastery of cooking over fire.
We had a wonderful anniversary meal at The Coal Shed. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the beautiful interior design which stylish, warm, and perfect for a special occasion. The service was fantastic throughout. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and made us feel really welcome. As it was our anniversary, they even surprised us with a little dessert, which was such a thoughtful and lovely touch. We both had steaks, and they were absolutely delicious. They were perfectly cooked & full of flavour. For sides I would particularly recommend the mac and cheese and creamy spinach. Overall, a fantastic experience from start to finish. I would highly recommend The Coal Shed for anyone looking for a great meal in a lovely setting.

We’ve just finished our meal for my birthday and I cannot fault it in any way. The service was next level. I had the fillet steak and it was the best steak I’ve had to date, without a doubt! We visited the restaurant on a Monday evening for dinner service. The lovely lady at front of house showed us to our table. Our server Serena ensured we were well looked after during our visit. Absolutely wonderful service and experience. I had the scallops to start (stunning!) and cod which was good but would, with the other flavours on the plate (charred hispi cabbage and curried mussel sauce), benefited from a firmer fish like hake or halibut, which is much firmer. To me the cod was lost in the bold other flavours. Overall though this is an excellent restaurant and the execution of food presentation is outstanding.

Supposed to take photos of the meals but ended up only with empty plates – that’s how good it was! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, portions are generous, and everything tasted excellent. One of the best steaks I’ve ever had – perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Highly recommended!

Our visit to The Coal Shed was fantastic—the food was absolutely amazing. The experience was truly elevated, however, when they accidentally brought something wrong in the order. Their response was a masterclass in professionalism: they sincerely apologized, immediately prepared the correct meal, and then comped it entirely, refusing to let me pay for their error. This incredible gesture of owning their mistake so gracefully didn't just fix the situation, it guaranteed our loyalty and turned a great night into an unforgettable one.

Another fantastic meal at the Coal Shed. However, this one was particularly special as we out to celebrate our friend’s anniversary and had to break him out of the hospice to do so! Navigating going out with a wheelchair and someone who is very unwell is a challenging and often stressful experience. The whole team at the Coal Shed was amazing, with special mention for Guy and Tim who really went the extra mile to make this special occasion as seamless and fun as possible. It goes without saying that the food was amazing (I mean we did have 1.8kg of wagu beef so it was going to be pretty tremendous), the surrounding were beautiful, and the atmosphere elegant but lively! I cannot recommend highly enough. Many thanks again to the team who made this evening so wonderful.

Honestly, this might have been the best breakfast we’ve ever had—and we’ve eaten a lot of breakfasts. The atmosphere? Chef’s kiss. The service? Friendlier than your nan after two cups of tea. And where else can you start your day with crab and tacos? It’s like brunch took a tropical holiday and brought back souvenirs for your taste buds. 10/10, would crab again.

We came as a big group and a lot of us had a really pleasant experience. The honey chicken burger was incredible and the fish and chips were as good. The drinks however came served with a bug in both. When we asked about one of the drinks the lady serving us said that it was a passion fruit seed. However I had a Pepsi max and had the same bug in my drink. I was shocked by the amount of chips in the hot chip bowl. For 4 pound you should be getting at least 1 serving of chips. I think I counted about 15 chips. I also asked if they had different sizing for the T-shirts and the girl serving us said I’m not sure but I’m sure we do.. I would have thought she would check at least. I don’t like complaining, but her costumer service really wasn’t great. However we did have great service from two of the other staff members. Overall I’m a bit disappointed because I’ve heard really good things.

Varied thoughts on this place. It is a great location on the beach in Brighton, somewhat understandably not cheap. Most of the food was well presented and good quality. The French toast was our least favourite- the ganache was split, the toast was burnt, and the toppings were frugal. The English breakfast was much better. The crab Benedict was not to my taste, but was well cooked and presented - I just didn’t think the flavours combined well. The Tea was served in great little metal pots (don’t burn yourself) which were generous and lovely. The service was excellent - quick and cheerful.

I came here during pride and the staff were amazing. So sweet and caring, everybody were in such great spirits and really welcomed in everybody and made them feel taken care of. The food was fresh and wonderfully crafted. I had the lucky catch which was calamari with fish & chips as well as mushy peas with a spin. I had some of their handcrafted nonalcoholic drinks. The passion fruit spritz & the ginger one were great. The alcoholic drinks looked great but I had to work later so we kept it PG. I enjoyed everything 10/10. They’re right by the beach as well so there was beautiful scenery all around.

The staff were so lovely, and quick. We sat inside up the stairs to get away from the wind, but to still lookout over the beach, this was not an issue for our server who ran up and down with our drinks and food. The food 1000/10, me and my husband shared the ‘Lucky Catch’ which was large fish and calamari with chips, mushy peas and dips. It is not a sharing platter, but just enough for the two of us to have a nice sized lunch. The batter on the fish, calamari and the surprise bits of either butternut squash or sweet potato, was so crisp and delicious. The fries were lovely and salty and the mushy peas, soooo buttery!! This is a must go just for the peas!! Along with two ciders and a Pepsi max, I would say it is not a bad price.

The place was lovely, very quick services, seated and bought drinks super quick. The slushy cocktail was very tasty. We ordered the local fish and chips. And I'm having a hard time believing the fish as enough fish for one person. "Quality over quantity", the quality was tasty, but I wasn't convinced by the quantity. It was nice, but nothing to shout about, and definitely not at £18.40. sorry! I live in London, I'm used to prices. I'd like some fish with my fish and chips please. Lucky Beach did reply to pass feedback to the kitchen. I edited my review to add compliments to the service and I think the edit removed Lucky Beaches reply.

The Palm Court Restaurant at Brighton Pier is renowned for its fabulous fish and chips, often referred to as the "Spiritual Home of fish and chips." The restaurant offers a seaside celebration meal complete with a glass of bubbly, along with signature dishes like the Big Fish. While not the cheapest option in town, everything is cooked fresh and it's considered one of the best places to enjoy traditional British fish and chips.
We recently celebrated my mum’s 70th birthday at the Palm Court Restaurant on Brighton Palace Pier, and I honestly cannot recommend it highly enough. From start to finish, it was an absolutely incredible experience. They catered for 37 of us with such ease and professionalism, nothing was too much trouble. The staff were so attentive, kind, and hard-working, ensuring everything ran smoothly and that my mum felt truly special throughout. You could see how much they cared about making the day perfect. The area was beautifully decorated, and the birthday cake was stunning, clearly made with thought and love. And let’s talk about the fish and chips… hands down the best in Brighton! Everyone commented on how delicious the food was -fresh, perfectly cooked, and served piping hot. Add to that the unbeatable views across the city and coastline, and you’ve got one of the most memorable venues for any celebration. Whether you’re planning a party, a special family day out, or are just visiting Brighton and want a truly authentic experience on the pier, Palm Court is a must. Thank you to the whole team for making my mum’s 70th so magical. We’ll be talking about it for years to come!

Pretty terrible food, partner was told she couldn’t have the dish she wanted as was 86’d and after deciding on another - was told that wasn’t available either. She settled on the fish cake which was just pure mash with the flavour of air. I had the mussels which for £20 + it being on the literal sea I expected them to be at least decent but were just chucked in a steaming pot to serve without an ounce of seasoning (portion was weirdly big too) £60 for 2 mains, Calamari, Pint & Coffee is pricey normally but for the quality here - dreadful, please avoid and visit literally anywhere else :)

Lovely fish and chips by the beach. Can’t complain, even comes with a precautionary ‘watch out for the seagulls’ from the very friendly staff who also sneaked in a slice of lemon for me. I appreciate you!

Unfortunately, the overall experience didn’t quite meet expectations. The chips were soft and soggy, lacking the crispiness you’d expect from freshly fried ones. I chose the cod, but it was quite rubbery and tough. The pasta was rather bland, and the grilled chicken was dry and a bit chewy. The table felt sticky, and the plates and cutlery didn’t seem properly cleaned, which affected the overall dining experience. There’s definitely room for improvement, especially in food quality and cleanliness.

The terrace is beautiful, it's a pleasure to sit there on a sunny day. The staff is OK. At the time of my visit (between 13:00-14:00) it was not crowded. The food was not good... I bought (for take-away) fish and chips from them, but I didn't like the way they looked or the taste.

Had a really nice lunch time meal with the family, ate the greek gyros platter and fams had the fish and chips which was very tasty, freshly cooked and good portion sizes, the calamari for starters was also decent, maybe a lil on the pricey side due to location on the pier, but felt was worth it. The guy who seated us was really friendly and welcoming.

The Urchin Brewery & Shellfish Pub in Hove is a charming spot for seafood enthusiasts. With a covered, heated garden and a maritime-themed interior, it offers a unique experience. The pub serves fresh shellfish and hand-crafted beer, with the added bonus of their own mini brewery on-site. The menu features an array of luxurious seafood options such as Jersey rock oysters, potted crab, whole lobsters, and Malaysian king prawns.
Very nice and cosy pub, with food better than your average pub grub! They focus on fish and there are some great dishes with high quality fish on both the classic menu and the constantly changing specials. The flavours were fun and creative, pairing fish with things you don’t see much elsewhere - they do still have the classics too though! The food was indeed very nice, but a little pricey for what you actually got. The oysters were especially good and £2.50 for a plain one isn’t actually that bad! The service was lovely the whole night and we had a very romantic evening :)

Always a great experience at the Urchin! Can’t find any fresher seafood for such affordable prices. Everything is cooked to perfection and served with love. They deffo know their food and you can tell from their wine list and from the flavour combinations they serve. The staff has been lovely everytime I been there, and the sitting area is clean and nicely decorated. Only issue was some stones left in the mussels so they weren’t properly cleaned but that happened only once (yesterday) however they’re forgiven because everything else is 10/10! *chefs kiss*

Such a great pub. The service was amazing, especially our server Grace who was a dream at making sure we had everything we needed. The oysters were great and the portions were really generous! Can't wait to go back!

We were a bit apprehensive walking out here from Brighton due to the distance and it was mainly the brewery aspect that drew us. They had a whole lobster for £38 which honestly seemed like a typo (in Edinburgh we would normally pay >£50) the lobster was phenomenal. The craft beer selection was a little bit disappointing but the food more than made up for it and service was excellent!

Scallop, Squid, 2 x Muscles superb. Local IPA and a glass of Sancerre also taken. All very well looled after. Thank you. We will make time to come back.

Oysters were amazing so fresh but the Paella was such a dissapoinment! Overpowering flavor of fennel, and when we mentioned it to the waitress she just shrugged and said 'well I love fennel'. I also like fennel, but not when it overpowers the rest of the dish. 5 of 6 clams were not open, and my husband had mild food poisoning symptoms within 2 hours of us leaving the restaurant. Such a pity as we love seafood, but we won't be back and will not be recommending

At long last, I made it here and I was not disappointed. Every mouthful was an experience..an explosion of flavour in the mouth. I really enjoyed the crab and the sauce it came in was soo tasty I drank the lot of it! My partner had the mussels which were also so tasty. The oysters were fresh and delightful. Will definitely come again! Highly recommend 👌. Quality food at a great price

The Little Fish Market offers a creative seafood dining experience in an unassuming atmosphere, showcasing regional produce and local artworks. Chef Duncan Ray, formerly of The Fat Duck, emphasizes the use of locally sourced fish from British day boats to ensure unparalleled freshness.
We went there for lunch on a Friday. We had made a booking, but it wouldn't have been necessary. We got the lunch menu, which at £35 per person and the quality of the food is great! They started us off with bread and butter, which was delicious. The bread was sourdough bread, and had a really nice and deep flavor with a sour hint to it. As a starter, we got the ravioli filled with salmon. The pasta itself was nicely cooked, the filling was delicious with the right amount of salmon, and the accompanying sauce acidic to break through the richness of the ravioli. As a main we got the Gilt-Head Bream with gnocchi. The fish was crispy, but its flesh cooked just right, flaky and tender. The gnocchi were light and cloud-like. For dessert we got the cheese, and although it's not a dish that they have made themselves, the Montgomery Cheddar was a nice way to end the meal. Service was impeccable: friendly and at the right pace. Moreover, at the end Chef Duncan himself came up to check on us and see how we enjoyed the meal, which was a nice touch. Next time I visit Brighton I'll try to make a point to try to have dinner at the Little Fish Market.
Fuad T — Google review
Amazing food, faultless service, but a shame about the extra non-advertised charge for the fish. My partner and I had dinner here as a special treat for our anniversary, at £85 a head it is not our everyday meal! The food was incredible, special mention to the Thai-inspired Monkfish and the signature 'egg and soldiers'. The service was of a very high standard, with the waitress explaining every course in detail and continuously topping up our wine. The restaurant does feel a little 'cold', (decor and lighting-wise), it could use a few touches to feel a bit more cosy. The wait between courses is fairly long so be ready for that, but we had prepared ourselves for being there for a while as it was a tasting menu and of course it gave us time to chat! However the thing that was disappointing is that we had to pay a supplement for the main fish course that was not advertised anywhere on the website. This varied per fish chosen, but even the cheapest option added an extra £10 per person on top of an already very expensive meal. I think for £85 a head plus service, (total bill £268), this should have been included, or at least advertised to be that way on the website.

Another wonderful evening at the little fish market hove . This was our 3rd visit and we enjoyed it just as much as the previous two . The service as always impeccable, not intrusive at all , friendly, chilled and relaxed yet very attentive. Didn’t catch the name of the lady serving us but she was great . The food was phenomenal, each course carefully crafted individually , the flavours were on point and beautiful presented . We love the fact that the meal isn’t rushed and you have the table for the whole evening. Of course it’s not the cheapest meal but it’s worth every penny for the quality of ingredients and the amount of work that Duncan and his team put in every dish they serve . They have just won the best restaurant in Brighton award , very well deserved too!
Ruth S — Google review
Not our first visit to The Little Fish Market, and it certainly won't be our last. The food has remained consistently good over the years, with faultless fish cookery, delicately balanced flavours, imaginative ingredient combinations and surprisingly delightful amuse bouches! This evening, the highlights for us were the pan fried cod, cured monkfish, and the diminutive but flavour-packed treacle bread. The only slight disappointment was the peanut butter, chocolate and banana dessert, which was a bit too sweet for my liking and not to my partner's taste, but that is more of a personal preference rather than a failing on the chef's part. The service, also, could have been better, with a bit of indifference and brusqueness at first, but things got better as the evening went on. Don't expect a speedy meal here, and the tasting menu will take a good three hours from start to finish, so as long as you're prepared for that, and want to enjoy delicious seafood and fish, without too many bells and whistles in the form of ambience, this is the place for you.

Sadly I was disappointed. This restaurant has been on my bucket list for years, and I was thrilled to finally secure a table during Octoberbest. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. The venue is now very brightly lit — such a shame, as it used to be softly candlelit, which suited the small, intimate space much better. As for the food: my starter of terrine was just about passable, but the main course of braised duck was so salty it was completely inedible. When we mentioned this to the waitress, we were told “it’s supposed to be salty,” which wasn’t exactly the response we were hoping for. Dessert was the highlight — quite nice, but not enough to redeem the meal. With drinks for six of us, the bill came to around £400. I paid begrudgingly, especially as no apology or gesture was offered after our feedback. Sadly, I’d say give this one a miss.

I came here to celebrate a birthday and we had a fantastic evening. There’s an added excitement to the fact that everyone is experiencing the same dishes at the same time. Playful, unexpected plates are paced throughout the evening - we stayed for about 3.5 hours but it felt more like 1.5! It was great that the chef came out to speak to us too and present some of the dishes. Would definitely recommend it

Bohemia Brighton is a swanky European-style grand cafe and cocktail bar located in the heart of the South Laines. It offers a late-night lounge, glassed-in roof terrace, live jazz, and a mix of classic signature cocktails and bespoke concoctions. The bar also features a visually arresting interior with three floors, including a stylish roof terrace. Bohemia's kitchen serves full buffet options for those feeling peckish.
The flames above the entrance immediately drag you into the restaurant. Was a relatively quiet night when we were there but it’s certainly a place that will be popular. Food is delicious, drinks are amazing, desserts are theatrical. Will be back next time we are in Brighton

Myself and my daughter found this place by chance on our last evening of a short trip here last week we’d already had dinner so didn’t eat here unfortunately but it is now on our list to do so. We were looking for somewhere to go for a cocktail as we were leaving the next day and bit of live entertainment. We had already walked past during the day and had pointed out what a lovely place it looked so I was quite glad that we got the chance to go back. We sat by the bar and downstairs it wasn’t particularly busy but the atmosphere and the place is just so welcoming warm and comfortable. It’s a nice place to be in.The bar Staff were absolutely fantastic Finn was the initial bartender on his own and when it picked up, he still kept up the pace he was Making complicated cocktails for people but will still be personable fast and letting customers enjoy the cocktails that he had made. He was then joined by Callam who also worked just as hard it was in refreshing watching people enjoy their jobs. A small note I would like to also add is that I was impressed on how hot they were on ID and everybody that came into the bar. The bar started to fill up and the atmosphere just got even better. They had a live band there that evening that we’re doing covers of songs and they to were very interactive and just really made the whole place come alive (the iron boot scrappers) We had some quite theatrical cocktails and a few drinks and left after a few hours, but we will definitely be back for food and more drinks the next time we are back thank you for a great time.

Spending a couple of days in Brighton for leisure time. We arrived at around midday and stumbled upon this hidden little gem. We were immediately greeted by our host and offered a window table. The decoration and atmosphere are great and quirky. Food wise we opted for Fish & Chips. The food is presented to a really high standard and the quality of the ingredients is amazing. Probably the best fish and chips I have had in recent years! The fish was chunky, moist and freshly battered. The chips were skin on chunky wedges which were also very tasty. The dish also came with mushy peas and tartare sauce. A lovely venue with a great atmosphere and food. Thoroughly recommend!

I’ll be honest I really wanted to like Bohemia as I’d heard good things. Plus with a name like Bohemia I was expecting something a bit off the wall and special. Maybe even some decent Czech beers on offer.. However our experience was poor. We stopped in for lunch with the kids. And even though we were the only people present each order we made for drinks or food took an inordinate amount of time. We even asked for some table water a number of times and never did receive it. Also, as a Sesame allergy sufferer, they had no alternative options for family favourites such as burgers. Disappointing in this day & age. Will not recommend. And will not return.

The Better Half Pub is a charming tavern located near Hove's promenade, offering a cozy and eccentric atmosphere. The pub features classic English dishes, including Sunday roast events, and a variety of drinks such as locally brewed ales, beers, selected wines, and craft cocktails. With its unpretentious vibe and pet-friendly environment, it has become a favorite among locals who enjoy mingling with other dog owners while savoring posh pub grub.
Had eaten here before but outside in the courtyard. This time we were booked for the Sunday roast. Wow superb quality and presentation. Which was only exceeded by the taste of each piece of food. Would I recommend this. In a heart beat. Another great reason to visit my son and DIL in Hove.

We came here for the roast dinner and ordered the pork belly and nut roast. The pork belly was amazing however, the nut roast was slightly overcooked and solid on the inside. The staff were super helpful and took care of half the bill for the nut roast and then stopped serving it to the rest of the customers as they didn’t want to serve a sub par item. Great food, even better service.

I had a wonderful experience at Better Half Pub today! The Sunday roast was absolutely delicious, definitely one of the best in Brighton and Hove, with perfectly cooked meat, crispy roast potatoes, and flavorful gravy. We had the most wonderful Sunday roast and evening here, as a big group (11 people) we were struggling to find anywhere that would take us but the better half were very happy to accommodate, letting us pre-order food. I have been to the Better Half Pub a few times for food always had a great meal and service. Because of having some special memories here we decided to book the pub to celebrate my husband's life after his funeral service. Simon was very helpful, always super quick to respond and answered all of my questions. They even closed the pub to the public for a few hours which was an extra special touch while we all gathered to share stories and enjoy the food prepared for us. They also allowed us to play our own music to make it even more personal. We were able to make a few small changes to the buffet options (halloumi sticks were extremely popular!) and there was more than enough food for everyone. Thank you so much to Simon and the team at The Better Half Pub for your help with everything during a difficult time.

We’ve been to The Better Half a number of times now—regularly for their incredible Sunday roast and occasionally during the week for a burger and pint—and every visit has been spot-on. The quality of the food and service has always been high, and recently, the Sunday roast has been even better than before… honestly one of the best in Brighton. The staff are consistently friendly, professional, and attentive across the board. On a recent visit, one of the kitchen team recognised us, had a quick chat, and made us feel really welcome, just one example of the warm and personal service here. It’s always a pleasure coming back to The Better Half. Great food, lovely atmosphere, and a genuinely kind, hardworking team. Highly recommended.

The Flint House, part of Ben McKellar's Gingerman group, is an intimate and stylish restaurant that opened in April 2019. It offers a variety of small plates featuring meat, fish, and veggie options along with cocktails and wine.
The Flint House is an absolute gem — the first restaurant I’ve been to in a long time where every single box is ticked with full marks. The service is faultless: friendly, attentive, and perfectly paced. The drinks list is superb, with thoughtful cocktails and an excellent wine selection. Every dish that came out of the kitchen was beautifully presented and bursting with flavour (highly recommended Sunday lunch). And the ambience? Stylish, relaxed, and effortlessly cool. A 10/10 across the board — highly recommended.

This is a nice restaurant experience, with great service and an interesting menu. We opted for the chefs menu, with wine flight, given it included several of the dishes we were interested in. We sat at the pass to appreciate the experience. The food was good, technically well done with some considered flavours. The portions were probably a little bigger than we required, but the ingredients were of a high standard and the finished product a pleasing result. The setting was nice but not as intimate as other restaurants we have tried. In summary, a nice experience but not necessarily one to repeat.

This restaurant is a hidden gem, tucked away from the main town centre. The décor blends industrial with classy, offering a spacious upstairs seating area and a terrace for summer dining. Run by the Gingerman group (I remember visiting the Ginger Pig back in 2012), it was just as good. The food was of a consistently good standard, both in quality and presentation. Service was warm, friendly, and efficient. The ambience was relaxed, yet dishes arrived promptly without feeling rushed. With its choice of à la carte small plates or full set menus (with or without wine pairings), I can see this place becoming very popular. I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience here and would happily return—and recommend it to others.

We’ve been wanting to visit for a while, overall it didn’t disappoint. Most of the dishes are absolutely incredible, especially the lamb shoulder, red mullet, rump steak, pork loin, oysters and prawns. Highly recommend the mash and green bean salad as sides. The confit potatoes looked fantastic but could have had a little more seasoning. The mains are a little on the small side but when you are ordering sides to accompany them nobody went hungry! I was slightly disappointed by the puddings which sounded delicious on paper but didn’t really live up to expectation. The drinks were excellent, lovely martini menu and we had a fantastic bottle of primitivo. Service overall was good, our server was helpful and friendly, one of the staff members seemed to had forgotten how to smile but I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Flint House!

There are a lot of restaurants to choose from in the Lanes with excellent reviews. We chose here due to the small plates seeming to priced fairly reasonably. We were not disappointed the steak for £20 was a normal main course size and probably the best steak I've ever had. The mackerel was gorgeous and lamb was incredibly tender. The fact they offer carafes of wine also makes it possible to have a nice wine without blowing the budget.

Without doubt the best restaurant in Brighton, certainly in terms of value. Three courses for £22? Outrageously good. Examples - Beef shin pappardelle to die for, and Oyster tempura simply heaven. A fascinating wine list - and I was allowed to sample a taster of the gorgeous Timorasso before buying a glass. Do please go - it's a revelation and, for me, the best birthday present I've ever rewarded myself

Nestled right on the water, Brighton Shellfish & Oyster Bar is a charming beachside shack that captures the essence of traditional British seaside dining. With its nostalgic '80s vibe and quirky touches like a pour-your-own vinegar station adorned with humorous seagull memes, this spot is perfect for seafood enthusiasts looking to indulge in fresh shellfish. The menu features delights such as freshly shucked Jersey oysters paired with homemade chili dressing and rich crab rolls that are simply irresistible.
Great for all types of seafood. The whelks were massive and tasty. We asked for them to be cut up as they were so big which they did for us. Marinated octopus was also good. Highly recommended. My Korean partner was prepared and brought her Gochujang sauce although there is chill vinegar, pepper etc available

This cozy oyster bar is definitely a hidden gem in Brighton, located right by the beach. It has limited seating, but all the spots offer beautiful sea views, making it a very relaxing place to enjoy a meal! I ordered oysters, crayfish, and dressed crab, and everything was delicious and incredibly fresh. I loved the crayfish so much that I ordered another serving. They offer seafood in three different portion sizes—small, medium, and large—which is very thoughtful. The female owner was also nice and friendly, reminding us to watch out for the "pirates" while dining! Overall, a fantastic trip experience by the beach during the weekend:)

I had the pleasure of dining at a seaside kiosk and tried their famous crab and lobster rolls. I have to say, they were both incredibly fresh and delicious. The flavors were perfectly balanced and the ingredients were top-notch. The crab meat was sweet and juicy, while the lobster was succulent and full of flavor. The rolls themselves were soft and perfectly toasted, adding a nice crunch to each bite. What really made this dining experience special, however, was the stunning sea view. The kiosk is situated right by the water's edge and offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the ocean. It was truly unforgettable, and made the meal even more enjoyable.

Had the nicest Jersey Oysters - reasonably priced - sitting by the beach. This place offers great variety of seafood including cockles, whelks, shrimp and anchovies - all you can wish when visiting the seaside. Beware of the massive seagulls! Can be very nasty - had one coming out of nowhere in the sky, knocking my head and diving into my cockles pot!

Right on the beach, it is as simple and as perfect as it gets. Fresh oysters, prawns, and seafood served straight to you with the sea as your backdrop. Grab a plate, sit on the pebbles, and let the view do the rest. It’s the kind of spot where the salt air makes everything taste even better. Just one word of advice: guard your food. The seagulls in Brighton are fearless, and they know exactly where the best oysters are being served. No frills, no fuss, just seaside seafood.

Very fresh oysters, delicious shrimp and octopus as snacks. Do not take rapanas, they are hard and poorly washed. Fast and pleasant service. very democratic prices)) The tables stand right on the pebbles of the beach, which at the same time is simple and with a beautiful view. The only thing is that there is no cover, probably not very pleasant when it rains or is hot.

By far and away our most favourite pub in Brighton. A gem hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the city. A Fuller's pub so always has a great offer served by welcoming professional staff. The food is excellent with numerous specials written above the bar. Table bookings are advisable especially on weekends. Don't forget to check out various tin boxes attached to the walls. You might discover a hidden message or, better still, leave one for others to find.

A great pub that's off the main track, frequented by locals. There's always a lovely cosy yet vibrant atmosphere and if you can grab a seat, you're lucky as this place is always busy. You can easily while away your afternoon by chatting to the locals, the bar staff or by opening the vintage tins on the walls and reading the handwritten notes inside them. If none of this takes your fancy, order a Sunday roast and you won't be disappointed. There's is one of the best roasts I've had in a long time with a lovely Yorkshire, range of vegetables and delicious gravy. I would highly recommend you try it!

Disappointed after hearing good things about the food but perhaps it was an off day - the fish dish was dry, boney, no flavour and also weird presentation (see pics) however I will try again, perhaps the pies or battered fish which I’ve heard are very good. Great vibes tho, community feel, staff great.

Great little pub! One of the last surviving "old school" types of pub, remaining relatively unchanged for 50 years! Superb selection of beers - Fuller's and real ale, huge selection of gins and other spirits. Very good Sunday lunch menu, several specials and staple favourites. Fish and chips is excellent and the portions are very generous and well worth the cost. Seating in the dining area of the pub is in high demand and should be booked well in advance, but if it's possible to sit at another table elsewhere in the pub, food can be eaten there. Also some tables outside on the quiet side street. Because it's such a little pub, it doesn't take much to be crowded, but the atmosphere is great. Definitely a top favourite of mine in Brighton!

Very busy, at 6pm ordered fish and chips, was possibly the best fish I've ever had, the two barmaids, were exceptional, very welcoming and exceedingly professional, it was our pleasure to have been hosted by them. We will definitely return on our next visit.

Earth & Stars is a laid-back pub in Brighton, offering a variety of organic lagers, ciders, and real ales. The Sunday roast menu features options like slow-braised pork belly and roasted cauliflower fritters. Additionally, there are vegan roast choices and delectable sides such as garlic confit potatoes. The pub is environmentally conscious with solar panels on the roof and a focus on serving organic beverages.
Wow. Earth & Stars under the new management of Alice and Fred has gone through the stratosphere. Fantastic atmosphere when we went and fabulous friendly service at the table and at the bar. The plant-based menu was launched on the weekend we were there. And what a great start. The starters of vegan pork belly and corn ribs were both juicy and tasty. The softest To-fish I have ever had and a delicious Tofu Larb salad that was out of this world. We will definitely be coming back (and want to try the Sunday Roast). We both thought this was one of the nicest pub experiences we have had in Brighton for a long, long time. Peanut-free environment too. Check it out!

Came here for a Sunday vegan roast and it was 10/10 and absolutely delicious. I had the pork belly and my wife had the nut roast, both were exceptionally well cooked and super tasty! Highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

The Earth & Stars has always been a favourite hang out of ours and now there are a new team at the helm it’s back on track which is really excellent news. The decor is bright and welcoming and music choices spot on. The plant based menu was really tasty and good value. I had pie and mash with minted peas and gravy which was a proper treat. Pie was delicious and all the trimmings were perfect. A generous amount of gravy was especially good. We also had some puddings which were all equally tasty. The vibes are excellent and we can take our dog who is also a fan of the place. Great selection of local beers and lovely chilled wine for me. Lots to choose from too. Looking forward to trying a roast soon and generally having a great place to relax and have fun now the vibes are back on point. You should deffo check it out even if you’re not a plant based eater do your bit for the planet and eat green you won’t be disappointed.

I've been going to The Earth & Stars for a number of years and the new managers have really lifted the place back to being a great pub. The bar and food offering is vegan friendly. Great selection of beers and the new kitchen menu is awesome. Last night I had the burger followed by cheesecake. Very tasty! The new team really makes you feel welcome and the decor has been brightened up a treat. Looking forward to my next visit very soon. Thoroughly recommended. x

Lovely hosts, vibrant atmosphere with a mixed crowd of young mothers and their babies, hipsters and cool old folk, plus randos who wobble in from the station. The Sunday roast is excellent and I am not a vegan. They are, their chef is and I am happy to have savoured, no, enjoyed their plant-based goodness.

Brilliant food and lovely service at what is becoming one of my favourite spots in town! I always liked the pub but the new managers have brought something very special, we were made to feel very welcome and loved the menu and a good spread of beers and wine to boot. Also great music playing! Looking forward to going back soon, cheers

Visited Earth and Stars Brighton on a busy Saturday night and was blown away by the service from Luke the barman. He quickly recommended a beer that suited my preferences perfectly and then prepared three amazing cocktails for me—an Old Fashioned, a Godfather, and a Spicy Margarita. Every drink was crafted with care and tasted fantastic. Luke’s attentiveness and expert recommendations really made my visit memorable. Excellent service and top-notch cocktails!

I stumbled into this little gem and was delighted by the cosy atmosphere and excellent vegan food. I would particularly recommend having both the corn rib and Korean pork starters. Lovely addition to Brighton’s vibrant food scene and I noticed they have lots of fun events on which I will definitely be coming back for.

Lost in the Lanes is a contemporary café located in the vibrant Brighton Lanes. It offers a minimalist setting and serves simple yet high-quality brunch dishes, including classics like smoky beans on sourdough and vanilla French toast, as well as more unique options such as avocado toast with pomegranate and cured Chalkstream trout on toasted dark rye.
Beautiful interior and great food. The tumeric latte was really good and the staff were super friendly. The brioche breakfast was soft!

Nice, but not sure I’d go back. It’s a lovely space with kind service, and I enjoyed the experience overall—but for the price, it didn’t quite hit. The food was good, not great. With so many options in Brighton, I’m not sure it stands out enough to return. The biggest letdown was the matcha. I asked for it extra strong, paid £2 more, and could already tell by the pale color it wasn’t high quality. Watery, diluted, and disappointing. That said, the setting is charming and the vibe is nice—it just didn’t deliver enough to justify the price.
Joei C — Google review
Very cute place. Got strawberry matcha and butcher's breakfast. Butcher's breakfast was a bit too salty/peppered to my taste, but otherwise good. I'd mix up a bit more of fresh bits into it to balance it out. Wasn't crowded at all on a Friday morning, while a few other places nearby were packed.
Mila G — Google review
By rating this 3 star, I’m not saying that I didn’t enjoy this. The presentation and design of this place is stunning, and I would highly recommend going if you’re looking to get a decent brunch. I just wasn’t overly impressed by the flavours or taste of the overall meal. It was all style really.
Jasmine K — Google review
We made a last-minute stop at this cute brunch spot tucked off the main street, and it did not disappoint. The service was so friendly, and the food came out quickly. I started with the matcha lime tonic, then we shared the eggs benedict and the veggie English breakfast... both were incredible! Every component was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Honestly, one of the best brunches I’ve ever had. Would 10000% recommend!

14th September £100 total What’s in a name? The short answer is quite a lot. For reasons of happy personal circumstance it’s a question very much front of mind at the moment; I’ve been picking my way through the thorny thicket of negative onomastic association recently (a particular moniker forever reminding me of a particular Monica, for example) and contemplating the plausibility of nominative determinism (is a child with the name of an old lady destined to act like an old lady from birth?). So yes Bill, perhaps a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but that doesn’t mean that when Mich suggested dinner at Lost in the Lanes I was able to easily set aside my initial impression we’d be eating in a coffee shop. Because that’s what it sounds like it is. Even when I went online and looked at the menu and found evidence of proper cooking in the imaginative small plates there (see: salmon pastrami with gooseberry, samphire and peas), there was something inside me bracing itself for one of those ham and cheese toasties out of a plastic wrap. But I was quickly able to shed my slightly bizarre associative complex when we got there. Because it doesn’t look like a coffee shop - even though, mind-bendingly, it also is one - to the point I’m now wondering how I’d feel having a morning pastry in there. It looks modern and chic, with lots of open space, dried flowers and single bulbs on long wires hanging from wooden beams on the ceiling, a cut-out in the wall through to the kitchen - that kind of thing. And in the flesh the menu helped too, because there were about a million things on there I wanted to eat. We eschewed the large plates entirely, as much to save room for variety as any other reason, and before long there was no room for elbows on our little circular marble tabletop; in a bout of FOMO I kept calling the waitress back to add things to our order and rather than describe them all individually my overall reflection was this: sometimes sampling lots of little things can reflect worse on the standard of cooking than if we’d just gone olives-bread-starter-main. Comparison is, of course, the thief of joy, but when Mich and I are eating smorgasbords it’s absolutely in our nature to rank each dish against one another, and unavoidably there are those that don’t quite hit the spot as well as others. Negativity bias then perhaps leaves a feeling of lesser satisfaction than if the one big main had been served with the same quality as the average across a range of tasting plates. And there really was a range of quality in what we ate, I thought. The toursi tasted like the pickling process had sucked all the life and flavour out of the veg (and having figs in there was just weird), whereas the feta cigars and that first bite of bombette were perfect. There was a fair bit of middle-of-the-road stuff too. But then speaking of negativity bias, I ordered a cheesecake when I don’t usually order dessert, and… it just wasn’t one. It was a sort of chocolate mousse (with no mention of chocolate on the menu) layered on top of a bit of cream cheese, which I tried to scrape off and salvage, and no base. I left with that annoying feeling of unsatiated, unsatisfied fullness, and lost amongst that was any memory of the stuff Lost in the Lanes had done really well.

I couldn’t decide which one to pick between the white bait and the scampi at first, but I chose the white bait. The lady was so kind and she let us know that we could see a starling murmuration today so we were able to see the amazing show:)

Cute little spot on the Brighton beachfront selling fresh fish and crab sandwiches. The special of Mackerel was delicious! Came with a beetroot slaw and some greens. Cold sandwiches were also yummy and I tried both the crab and the prawn. They have chairs in the front of the shack to sit on to enjoy the food. Lots of seagulls and pigeons around to feed and good spot for people watching as you eat.

The Chimney House is a cozy and unpretentious pub located in Brighton, offering a variety of experiences for visitors. Whether you're looking for real ales, modern British cuisine made from local produce, or a function room for events, this place has it all. The pub prides itself on sourcing ingredients from Sussex, including fish from nearby areas and meat from local farms.
Fantastic roast in a really nice pub! The pub is nice - has a really nice traditional feeling whilst still feeling vibrant. Service is friendly and efficient. The food was amazing. Roast was done very very well. Everything was delicious (suede mash was out of this world). Live music played on Sunday night between 5-7pm was beautiful. Not too loud to be overpowering (could still hear conversations easily) but it just added to the already wonderful atmosphere of the pub. Highly recommend

Hired the room upstairs for a day long meeting. Staff were very pleasant, good communication beforehand, lovely breakfast menu and great lunch food. We loved supporting a local independent business and would recommend to other colleagues and friends.

Came here for a Sunday lunch with family arriving at 14:30. Overall it’s a nice enough place, a little rough around the edges but clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The food overall was really good. The blue cheese croquettes were delicious as was the sausage roll and olives. The Sunday roast was very mixed. My Dad had the beef which was tough and chewy, when he fed back they just gave him a sharper knife lol. I had the pork which was well cooked and tasty. The veg was delicious but the roast potatoes really let it down. They were dry as a desert. Not enjoyable. Granted this was at 3pm but still, they should be good all through service. Personally, based on this experience I wouldn’t rush back but it was far from a terrible experience. Give it a go and see what you think.
Jeremy J — Google review
Beautiful food, both in presentation and in taste. Just the right amount for a roast and everything on the plate was delicious and hot, nothing overcooked - really well put together roast. We had a chicken and a beef; other options available and also options for dietary requirements. Service was great to start but dropped off after we were served the roasts, so we ended up back at the bar to request bill. No biggy. It's a beautiful pub, warm and comfortable - very big family vibes on this Sunday we went, so if you're solo, or like us child free, bear that in mind; I rated 3/5 for atmosphere and that's entirely about personal preference not that the pub got anything wrong.
Rich B — Google review
It’s our local pub. The food is decent and has been improving, but the service has unfortunately gone the opposite way. Today really summed it up – there seemed to be one or two people behind the bar, neither of whom seemed aware of who was actually waiting. People were cutting into the queue and being served first, while we stood there for around 15 minutes just to get a pint and a glass of water. This was on a Sunday afternoon – a time when you’d expect the place to know it will get busy – yet there were only two bar staff who seemed half asleep and, frankly, in need of proper training. It’s frustrating because we want to keep supporting our local, but the bar service has been getting worse each visit.

One of my favourite pubs in Brighton! Ticks all the boxes. Friendly Neighbourhood local with genuine friendly staff and fantastic food, jazzy vibes in the evening. Highly recommended (as much as I prefer to keep it a well kept secret 😋)

Honestly one of the best Sunday Roasts I’ve had in Brighton! I had the pork, which was cooked to perfection, it melted in your mouth but then the skin was so crispy. The roast potatoes were delicious but wish there were a couple more. There were a few little carrots on the side which were also nice but i hopped there to be some more veggies too. Regardless, everything on the plate was so tasty and well cooked. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this roast so I will definitely come again!

5* service from kitchen and bar staff. Unforgettable and unique evening back in September 2020. Would recommend to anyone. The incredible chefs of the Chimney House dreamt up and prepared a fabulously fishy five course Saturday night extravaganza for our gang of landlubbers. Major kudos is owed for taking on the challenge of transforming a fresh catch into a sumptuous menu - it was out the park! Our haul of 'peng' fresh mackerel and six plaice was transformed into delicious ceviche tacos, perfectly bbq'd mackerel with plum, yummy fish sliders, hearty cannellini bean, chorizo & mackerel stew as well as classic battered fish & chips. We couldn't have asked for more from the kitchen - everyone was seriously impressed with the creativity and execution delivered throughout the evening. Hats off as well to the front of house team - they handled a rather boisterous group of gentlemen with no shortage of grace and great aplomb. Many thanks! I would replay this night in a heartbeat - it was one of my best in 2020.

What a cracking boozer, tucked away (slightly) - we had a round table with a view across the whole pub (and was perfectly placed for the TV screens, showing the rugby). Their Guinness was good - as was their Harvey's (Best and Old on tap) - we had some chips, which were good - other people's food looked decent, so we will be back for food another time. All the staff were great - good fun, attentive, helpful. Loved it!

Came for New Year’s Eve lunch. We arrived a little earlier than we had booked, but staff were super friendly and helpful in getting us settled in whilst waiting for our table. The man (i assume is the owner) who served us, was very welcoming and ensured we were looked after. Food was great, everyone enjoyed their meals. The only reason I am rating this 4* is because the sticky toffee pudding was a little dry and was sadly not sticky! Great advice and knowledge on the beers available on tap.

Restaurant
Kindling Restaurant is a sleek and upscale establishment with an open kitchen that offers innovative British cuisine along with cocktails. The team behind this relative newcomer shares a passion for local suppliers, minimal waste, and quality service. The restaurant's ethos revolves around being kind to the planet, emphasizing high-welfare meats, sustainable fish, local produce, and preserving to extend the seasons.
Came to Kindling last Tuesday to celebrate my partners birthday. Booked through the First Table website, and the only slot they had was 4:30pm, but they let us come in a bit earlier as we were a bit pushed for time, which was really appreciated. Lovely decor and can imagine it can get really crowded during busy times, but the atmosphere was nice and chilled while we were there. We were hoping to go for the mid-week meat platter, but it wasn't on the menu we were given, so it possibly isn't an option for the First Table promotion, so instead we went for the sharing cut of T-bone steak with a few sides to share. Honestly, the steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Also appreciate it comes to the table already sliced to save any arguments over who has had the most! Ordered 2 sauces but probably didn't need them as the sauce from the sides and flavour from the steak was plenty. Also ordered 2 starters - Courgette & Feta Fritters, which was top, and the Brisket & Jalapeño Croquette. This didn't turn up, which is unfortunate, as I was really looking forward to trying it, but by the time we finished our mains, we had had more than enough to do us so will definitely try it next time! Both agreed that even without the first table discount that this was fantastic value for money! Looking forward to our next visit!

Had an amazing meal at Kindling tonight. We ordered the sharing T bone steak, mac and cheese and skinny fries for the main course. The steak was one of the best steaks I’ve had in a very long time, cooked really well and tasted amazing. The sides and sauces were great. Had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert which was literally perfect. The atmosphere was good, with it being pretty much a full house and service was friendly and quick. Booked in advance for a birthday and there was a subtle but well thought happy birthday, not anything over the top which was great

After days of classic fish & chips, we decided to change things up and try burgers – and Kindling delivered perfectly. Even our children, usually loyal fans of the “golden M,” were impressed by their cheeseburgers and immediately asked if we could come back again. The food was fresh, well prepared, and served with a smile. Burgers & chips may sound simple, but here they are done with care and quality. The relaxed atmosphere made it easy for the whole family to enjoy a meal together. Sometimes, stepping away from tradition is the best decision – and Kindling proved it. Highly recommended for anyone in Brighton looking for something beyond the usual seaside fare.

The Sunday roast sharer was incredibly delicious. It’s hard to find somewhere that serves such tender meat and crispy and fluffy roast potatoes. We had lemon tart to finish, which we shared. It was the perfect amount of food. I would highly recommend Kindling for a Sunday roast. The service was great too.

Reservation recommended! From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed and promptly served. I ordered the House Bavette with Chimichurri sauce, side salad, and skinny fries — everything arrived quickly and was cooked to perfection. The steak was tender and full of flavour, beautifully complemented by the vibrant Chimichurri. Even the salad and fries were exceptional. The table setting, complete with a candle, created a lovely atmosphere, and the staff were attentive, friendly, and professional — some of the best I’ve encountered. For food and service of this quality, the bill was a pleasant surprise. Kindling is truly a team that delivers excellence.

Service was first rate. Pleasant and friendly greeting in a very nice setting. Was a warm day and patio doors were open which I asked to be closed due to the overwhelming stench of cigarette smoke. My wife ordered the grilled half chicken and was told 25 minute wait. Fair enough being freshly cooked. When it arrived it was nicely presented but in terms of flavour; unremarkable. She enjoyed the flat mushroom and chips but unfortunately this couldn’t justify the price. I had the beef bourguignon cottage pie. Very disappointed. I couldn’t eat it and ended up returning it. To give them credit they took it well and took it off the bill. Such a shame as the hotel and staff are fantastic and if this is the norm then they are really letting the hotel down

Staff is attentive and friendly Atmosphere was nice with the live DJ playing music Food is honestly not good and needs to be really improved. The kid’s pizza was a cheap ready made base with too much tomato passata and not enough cheese on top. Fries portion was too small for the price. Chicken Caesar salad had too much sauce and weird anchovies. When I notified the pizza was bad they offered to replace it but not to remove it from the bill I understand you have a captive clientele with the hotel guests but charging these prices for this level of food is harsh. All the hard work of the staff is let down

Stopped by for Afternoon Tea using a voucher received as a gift. We were able to add our son for a children's tea as well, all easily accommodated via email. Friendly correspondence. Children's tea was very cute, but would have preferred a little less sugar. Adult tea was fine. The sandwiches weren't as refined as they could have been, but tasted fine. The scones were the star of the show served fresh and warm. Absolute perfection. Desserts were ok, but all extremely sweet save for the eclair which was very disappointing. Atmosphere is nice, service is friendly, quick and efficient. Was it worth it? Yes, because it was a gift and we only paid for the kids tea. If I'd paid myself, I would be a lot more disappointed for that price.

A 12.5% service charge was applied to every round I bought, even though I was going to the bar myself to get the drinks. It might be understandable if it was table service only, but it wasn't. Also, we were sitting on the terrace outside and serving staff were few and far between. It's a lovely spot for a sundowner, but make sure you're aware of the prices!

We had Sunday lunch - at the Cyan restaurant- it was brilliant, for me the best Sunday lunch in Brighton. The service is attentive, friendly and efficient. The food is excellent- what I really like is the great selection of vegetables. I had the nut roast and my husband had the sea bass.

Had a fabulous Sunday roast dinner a couple of week back with my husband. We had a great table by the window which was just right for such a lovely day. Our food was delicious, I had beef & my husband had the chicken. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and the veg, especially the the root veggies, were full of flavour & yummy. We had the pear tart & sticky toffee pud to follow & neither disappointed. We had a truly great afternoon and can’t wait to return. A special shout out to our waiter, Ethan, who was amazing throughout & so professional. When I mentioned this to one of his colleagues, she told us he was new to the job. You’d never had known so a big thank you to him for being so lovely.

Like walking into a beautiful aquarium with alcohol and popcorn. We were greeted with service colleagues eager to help, and nothing was too much trouble for them. Happy to bring over more popcorn when our bowl was empty. The one downside was then bringing over the bill as soon as they gave the drinks. Could've asked if we wanted more drinks. Would recommend 100%

Great food, lovely decoration with columns and all. 5he whole seabass my friend took was apparently absolutely amazing. The turbot with caviar and butter sauce super tasty too.

Highly recommend Going to be my go to recommendation now for anyone visiting Brighton and a must go now when ever I visit. We walked in without a reservation and unfortunately they didn’t have any seating but the host was very polite and got a table for us within an hour. We came back, got seated and ordered the: Toasted Focaccia bread and glazed pork belly to start with. Both full of flavour and brilliantly prepared, the focaccia with a soft crunch and light butter spread wasn’t heavy at all the the pork belly melted in your mouth. For the mains we had the Rump of lamb and Lobster & Salmon burger, both amazing aswell but if I had to choose one the lamb was just a bit nicer, needless to say that the burger wasn’t short on flavour either. For drinks we ordered a peach Lexington ice tea (non-alch) and a margarita which didn’t fail to disappoint. I want to highlight again how great the staff were, their attitudes made all the difference and made the whole experience more enjoyable.

We decided to try the Cyan as we're staying at The Grand for a night. We're go glad that we did! Fantastic tasty food with good size portions. A set menu on Sundays - Tuesday, however with good options for everyone and very reasonably priced. The best part of our meal was our waiter Timothy. An absolute pleasure to be served by him. His upbeat and positive attitude really made our night. Enjoy your well deserved Guinness Timothy!

One THE best Sunday lunches of all TIME. Every one had melt in your mouth quality and could not stop complimenting the food. Worth every penny and if you can get a table with a view in the atrium all the better. Service was friendly and on the ball. Would compliment the chef 10/10

Fish & chips restaurant
Ramsbottoms Fish & Chips Restaurant and Take Away is a beloved gem for fish and chip enthusiasts, renowned for its beautifully cooked dishes that never fail to impress. Diners rave about the large portions of cod, perfectly battered in a light tempura-style coating, accompanied by freshly prepared chips made from top-quality potatoes. The generous servings of mushy peas served separately ensure that you get the most out of your meal without compromising on any side dish.
I grew up in Leeds and Liverpool. So I'm used to the best fish and chips the nation can offer. Living in Hove for the past 15+ years and this shop makes the BEST fish and chips EVER. Beautifully cooked delicious fresh fish in what is like Tempura batter, lightly cooked chips from best quality potatoes. Too many chippies overcook and the batter is too thick. Ramsbottoms however does it just right. Excellent!

Scammers. Me and my partner bought cheesey chips but was reluctant as it was £8.50. we asked the woman how big the portion size was and she said it was big. It wasn't, it was standard portion that would have cost 4.50 in an average cafe. We also ordered drinks, she told us there where drinks in the fridge, I had a look and they were labelled £1.90. we were charged £3. We were then told it was £3 pounds on the menu but £1.90 in the fridge. When we questioned this on our receipt. we were told by the woman "I gave you the menu, take away is cheaper" no where did it say this or advertised. We were lied to about the size and lied to about the price of drinks. Never have I ever had this kind of service.
L F — Google review
Very friendly service. We had haddock (4*), chips (4*), curry sauce and fried salted squid (5*). Asked for salt and vinegar but could have done with much more.
Alex B — Google review
Ridiculously over priced for such a small portion of cheesy chips! I asked the lady if it was a generous size for £8.50 as I was hesitant to spend so much on just 1 portion of chips, and she replied yes but sadly it was just your bog standard size! Also, I ordered 2 cans of Dr pepper for £1.90 like it stated on the fridge but I was charged £3 for EACH can as we dined in! We was not told that dining in would be more expensive! I questioned this to the lady a her response was "I gave you the menu" but I was not made clear that drinks are more expensive yet we still drank out the can! Very poor experience and will not be returning, first and last experience there!

This gem is celebrated for its impeccably fresh and hot fish and chips that leave patrons raving about their quality. The cleanliness of the establishment is immediately noticeable, creating a welcoming atmosphere as soon as you step inside.
I thought my usual fish and chip shop was good but this was exceptional. Beautifully fresh Haddock crisp light batter and delicious chips. Definitely recommend and go back when next in the area.

Been living in Brighton 7 years and this is by far the best fish and chips we have had. Everything we have had is delicious. We don’t live that close and the delivery is always hot and as quick as they can. Generous portion sizes too and a varied menu for a fish and chip shop.

Great Fish and Chips at Saltdean Fish Bar! Saltdean Fish Bar is a fantastic spot for classic fish and chips. If you like your food well done, just ask—they’ll make it nice and crispy just the way you want. The portion sizes are generous too; a large chips is usually enough to feed two adults and a child comfortably. The staff, especially the boys taking orders, are efficient and friendly, making the service smooth and pleasant. One small tip: if you want any sauces, be sure to ask for them when ordering, as they won’t always offer by default. Overall, it’s a great local chippy with tasty food and great service. Definitely worth a visit!
AHMED D — Google review
I’m extremely fussy about fish and chips, and often find them disappointing (greasy, soggy, lukewarm, overcooked…). These were truly the absolute best I’ve eaten for three years. The cod and chips were perfectly cooked, light, not greasy at all, and were piping hot (I nearly burnt my mouth with the fish- my fault!!). The guy serving me during the Tuesday lunchtime opening slot was friendly and efficient I paid £10.10 for a regular cod and small chips (a good size for one person), which I thought was very reasonable. I also like that they were wrapped in old fashioned white paper so no wastage of plastic or cardboard takeaway containers. I would definitely go back here again in a heartbeat.

Absolutely fantastic Fish & Chips! The Saltdean Fishbar is a true gem by the coast. The fish is perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the chips are golden and delicious. Everything tastes fresh and well-seasoned, with generous portions that are great value for money. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. Plus, the location is perfect – just a short walk from the beach, so you can enjoy your meal with a beautiful view. If you're in the area, this place is a must-visit! Highly recommended. 🙌🐟🍟

Kosher restaurant
Novellino Brighton is a trendy cafe-restaurant in Hove that offers a fusion of modern Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, including Jewish specialties and Sephardic-inspired dishes, as well as classic bistro favorites. The venue has a welcoming atmosphere and is popular among both locals and visitors. It's known for its fresh ingredients, vibrant flavors, and inviting interiors. Guests can enjoy casual coffee with friends or indulge in delicious meals at this sought-after destination.
Fantastic kosher offering from Novellino Brighton. First class food, service and atmosphere. Children friendly and real family feel. 5 star for me.
Meir W — Google review
My girlfriend & I visited Novellino as we wanted to try some of the traditional kosher/jewish dishes on the menu. We started with the Latkes which were really nice & exceeded my expectations. You get 4 of these for £5.00 & the size was fair. I've had Latkes before elsewhere, but these were the best I've had in ages. We then had the babaghanoush (with warm pita bread) again which was very nice, although a bit more pita would be nice as standard. The chicken soup was disappointing & lacked any flavour. It didn't have much lokshen in it & it was very bland & we both agreed not to have this again. The Lamb kebab was more of a lamb kofta, which wasn't to our taste, but we've had kofta before elsewhere & not loved it, so no real surprise here. The sides of Coleslaw, Small Israeli salad & Chips were all really nice & we'd definitely have all these again. The overall service was quite slow, but the 2 servers were both very friendly, polite & helpful. Recommended if you are not in a rush...the food overall was worth the wait!

Well, a Friday night meal to remember. My family of 19 enjoyed a delicious Friday night meal comprising of salads, chicken soup, chicken, schnitzels (which were particularly amazing), vegetables and a yummy chocolate brownie and ice cream. Sadly as it was shabbat we could not take any photos. Ryan, the Manager was superb, coping with our large family meal, of which there were 8 children. Will definitely be back before the end of the summer for another memorable meal.

We really enjoyed this beautiful kosher eatery. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The food we ordered was delicious and plentiful and was served quickly. All in all, a very pleasant experience will definitely be visiting again soon.

During our local stay, we frequently dined at this restaurant. The service is exceptional, friendly, and swift, even during busy times. They offer a diverse menu with both hearty meat dishes and excellent vegan options, like the vegan full English breakfast I enjoyed. Children's choices are available upon request. The restaurant's spacious setting and lovely staff add to the great dining experience. It's a highlight in Brighton, catering to all tastes, and we're excited to return.
Jacob N — Google review
Best Kosher restaurant in Brighton. Ok, you're not impressed, but it really was good. Service was friendly. Food arrived very fast. Chips (fries) were good and the steak was medium rare, just as I ordered it. This place bills itself as having the only authentic English breakfast that is also kosher. Meat in the morning was completely unknown to me, so I just had to try it. It was delicious, especially the hashbrowns and mushrooms. The non-dairy cappuccino that I had to wash it down was excellent as well. I have ordered both the hamburger and the schnitzel for supper. The hamburger was well done, and the sauce was unique . The schnitzel was huge; it looked three schnitzels. And it was delicious; tender and tasty. For lunches, I've ordered sandwiches from there. They come on choice of bread and are accompanied with a drink. I simply can't recommend this place enough. If you're looking for great kosher dining in Brighton, you are going to love this place!

We had a lovely brunch in the spacious & spotless Novellino restaurant. Service was fast & friendly and the food was great. The staff are all cheerful and helpful - especially Ingrid and Yaniel. The fresh juices & lemonade are the best. Will definitely return.

I was absolutely pleased to find a kosher restaurant in Brighton beach area. The staff was welcoming providing me recommendations from the menu. Sarah (the manager) was super friendly. The salt beef sandwich on a sesame bagel I ordered was on point. It was served with a fresh salad on a delicious sauce. It was great to see that the drink menu is dairy free. The English breakfast tea came with oat milk in a perfect temperature and generous amount. Netilat Yadayim cup and sink is available. Also, they had a mashgichot in the restaurant which was actively supervising everything and gave us a bencher (when requested) to use at the end of the meal. The newly renovated space looks gorgeous and elegant. I was looking forward to try the English breakfast but due to the current renovation they will be serving only in a month. Hopefully I will be able to come back to taste it. Thank you so much for the service.

If you're on the hunt for a delightful fish and chips experience, look no further than Sea Breeze Fish and Chips in Hove. This charming spot captures the essence of British seaside dining with its focus on fresh, sustainably sourced seafood. Diners rave about the light and crispy batter enveloping generous portions of chunky cod, complemented by perfectly cooked chips that are fluffy inside without being greasy. The staff is known for their friendly service, making your visit even more enjoyable.
Great value! Ordered two large cod and chips. Portion size was great, chips were delicious and not over oily like some places. Fish was lovely and fresh + batter was great and crispy! Workers super friendly Would definitely recommend + come back next time we are in Hove!

Asked for staff recommendation and got recommended the Cod and Hadock, which we then ordered in regular size plus one big chips. They gave us the chips separately on our plates which was really nice. We where amazed by the size and taste. Initially we wanted to order large but due to money constraints went for regular size, but it was huge. And the tatar sauce was delicious. Totally recommend it!!
Stefan N — Google review
I had a large cod with chips and mushy peas on the side. I was served a very fair portion of fish. The batter was super crispy and delicious and the chips were ok. The man that served me was nice enough and even gave me a free can of coke. The downside was that my peas pot had some kind of eyelash or hair. Overall the food was nice, sitting area clean and the toilet was reasonably clean too. I recommend this place to dine in or take away.
Ana G — Google review
Ordered Haddock & chips takeaway. Was told only had large haddock so said ok (though really only wanted a regular as first time to try this place). When it came there was one price of haddock & then another blob of haddock. So really it seems I could have had the regular size… the fish just hadn’t been portioned properly. The chips were very nice but the batter on the fish was weird. Not crispy & yet not soggy… tasted almost like pancake mix… but claggy. I’m also not a fan of “skin on” when batttering as it steams in the batter & goes slimy. Whilst I was waiting there was a table of 3 who had ordered before me. They were a haddock & chips short. The fryer/server, didn’t really respond to their request of another portion… but I saw him had another fish to the oil as he did mine… he never explained/apologised for getting the order wrong then once cooked proceeded to wrap mine so the table of 3 had to ask again about their food!! Not exactly great customer service even if it wasn’t directed at me

I’m here on vacation around London for 10 days, and of course, I had to try fish and chips from as many places as I could. After several stops, this little gem in Brighton was hands down the best by far! The fish was incredibly fresh, the batter was light and crispy, and the chips were just right. golden and fluffy inside. What really stood out was the portion size. Compared to other places, they give you a generous serving that actually feels like great value. Everything tasted homemade, and you can tell they care about the quality of their food. If you’re in Brighton and craving proper fish and chips, don’t miss this spot. I’d come back here over and over again!
Ahmed A — Google review
Fantastic portion sizes. Light, crispy batter on fresh, chunky cod and well-cooked chips which weren't swimming in oil. Very friendly service to top it all off. Will definitely be coming back.
Tennyson C — Google review
I had a large cod, large chips, large battered sausage and a large saveloy between myself and my bf. The cod was delicious, melt in the mouth and I devoured it. Everything was top notch. A big surprise was the saveloy which had a hint of spice to it: divine. Also, a reasonable price for a big meal for two. I'd been wanting to eat here for ages, so glad I did. I'll defo be back!
Rebecca B — Google review
Unfortunately. I couldn't make it a 5 rating. Everything about the food and the comfort of the place is great. But I had to clean the dirt of the condiments bottle to use them. It really is a shame because everything else is so perfect. We will be returning and i hope this gets noticed.

The Victory is a historic pub located in the heart of Brighton, offering a convivial atmosphere and traditional British fare. With its tiled facade and outdoor seating, it's a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. The menu features classic dishes such as fish 'n' chips and hearty steak meals, perfect for enjoying with friends over a few pints. As one of the city's oldest pubs, The Victory embraces its heritage while maintaining an innovative spirit.
Where do I start! I love going to the Victory Inn for the awesome variety of food. The presentation is always spot on one of those meals where you think, “I’m going to smash this” but it’s so filling you end up boxing some up to take home. Honestly, it’s so good you’ll be glad you did because it makes an amazing next day lunch. Top quality food, well seasoned meats you’d never want it to go to waste. In the pics: Lebanese Shawarma Wrap with fries Nachos loaded with cheese, guac, salsa, plus added Chicken Shawarma Beef Sizzler (literally sizzling away on a hot day there was steam coming off it!) Highly recommend trying the Shawarma wrap, it’s a solid 10/10. I’ll definitely be going back and bringing friends. It’s bang in the center of Brighton, perfect for a great meal before a night out. The Sunday roast. Unbelievable. The photo says it all.

Ordered their fish chips and cheese burger to share. The fish was nick nicely done with crispy batter coating and moist cooked fish outside. The accompanying chips were huge and flavorful, but the mushy peas are a tad dry. Taste ok eaten with the tartar sauce that served with the fish. The cheese burger was tasty and juicy. Tried their crafted beer, refreshing, and went well with the food. I would recommend this place.

Called in here for a quick drink whilst visiting Brighton last week, the reason we called in here, this pub was the only place in town that we came across that had a dog bowl outside. So we paid back our kindness & enjoyed a drink outside in the sun. Burger & Lobster is a delightful dining experience that combines the best of both worlds: succulent burgers and fresh, whole lobsters. This popular London-based restaurant group is set to expand with a new location in Brighton, opening its doors in February 2025.
Lucia was really nice and friendly during our dinner. We didn't need to call her because she was there right on time. This was our first time at a B&L, and we had a good time. The food, service and place were all nice, the music was a bit loud but not too bad. It was really good to see how well the staff got on. They all seemed to be comfortable with each other and with the customers.

An absolutely outstanding dining experience — truly one of the finest establishments in the UK. The restaurant delivers an exceptional level of service, with a team that is both attentive and genuinely welcoming. We dined on a Tuesday and were fortunate to catch a fresh delivery of Canadian lobsters — simply exquisite. Every dish was prepared with remarkable care and finesse. Admittedly, it’s not the cheapest of evenings out, but well worth every penny. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates top-tier cuisine and impeccable hospitality.

Seafood was delicious and high quality! The restaurant is small and cosy. Wine and drinks were fantastic and reasonably priced and the staff were friendly and helpful. This is a great addition to the Brighton dinning scene. Only issue was a few minor hiccups with our order, but this was quickly resolved by the General manager who did a great job of putting everything right. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant to all seafood lovers. Good luck 👍

Went here on a very last minute of the day whim for a Friday lunch for two. Fabulous service in what was a busy restaurant but not crowded. The menu is homage to local seafood which is great. Not vast but when something is done well it doesn’t need to be! Had the Gothic House Boil & Softshell Crab Burger! Plates went back empty…….enough said! So tasty! As said on the website some individual items may be subject to variation due to fresh supply but told straight away with a substitution offered. So if you are hungry and want a great meal……GO! Booking advisable.

I cannot fault this place! Food - Incredible - 2 Person Gothic Crab Deluxe Boil, Crab Topped Chips and Brownie with salted caramel sauce - BEST MEAL IVE HAD IN AGES - and I eat some lovely food! The Bloody Mary with Oyster was also incredible - and the lady working there thoughtfully asked me how spicy I wanted the Bloody Mary - the attention to detail was impressive. The 2 ladies who were working there were ON IT. They smashed it out the park - constantly checking in, replacing shell bowls, getting drinks - could not fault them. They even offered to take a few pictures which I thought was very thoughtful. Clean and tidy, great food, good location - I would say pop into the Saint James pub opposite for a drink beforehand and see Coconut the parrot too - we had a lovely Pimms & pint before our meal and the staff there were really friendly too.

Stuff is amazing with making sure your experience is on highest level and you do not worry about anything. Thank you for making our visit awesome and for serving really outstanding dishes.

Seafood restaurant
Sea Haze is a delightful seafood spot in Brighton that offers a variety of fresh shellfish and other seafood snacks. The place is known for its friendly staff, with one particular mention of the lovely Anouare who provided excellent service. Visitors can enjoy a selection of fresh oysters right on the beach, along with other shellfish options like prawns, cockles, mussels, crab sticks, and baby octopus. The seafood mix is highly recommended and can be paired with different sauces.
Affordable seaside snack. We were surprised how good and cheap the dressed crab was- only 7.5 with decent amount of stuffing. The rest was also good. Highly recommended. They got chairs and tables as well so you get to eat comfortably watching the view.

Misleading info- not sure what’s the local or British catch there except oysters. I tried cockles (lots of sand or what’s that , unpleasant to eat), crab and crayfish and won’t buy again, tastes like unfrozen supermarket food and the crab was unappetizing 🤢 looks good though

the prawn are super tasty!!!! and just for £5, I highly recommend that Oyster is economy to try but might not the best quality

Always fresh and Delicious. I love the oysters or the seafood Mix. Decent price for the quality. Lots of vinegar, sauces, pepper etc to choose from.

Really cool placed right by the beach. Also very quick service as everything is ready to go. Prices are decent considering its seafood. Food was satisfying overal and we enjoyed it. The only thing i would change would be the sand in the oysters. I believe it would make more sense to quickly rinse them with water after opening them and then serve them. Apart from that i liked everything else.

Street style basic but tasty seafood place. If the weather is nice and unwindy, one of the best spot to shortly enjoy the tastes from the sea. They have three size(s/m/l) for the offerings. Oysters are Maldon brand which are delicious for the price (10pound for 6 pieces).

It’s a good spot for a quick seafood snack. They serve here a variety of ready to eat seafood like jelly eels, dressed crab or fresh oysters. They do 6 oysters for 10£ which isn’t too bad. There are also few tables outside which comes handy too.

Very fresh and yummy oysters, whelks, prawns with the seafront view of Brighton beach. £1.5 for each oyster, which is cheaper than £1.8 each at Brighton shellfish and oyster bar, another seafood bar nearby. I came back twice within a day as the oysters and whelks are so tasty and fresh.

Fish & chips restaurant
Fish and chips takeaway
Restaurant
Brighton Zip Fish and Chips is a popular spot located on the Brighton seafront, offering a prime dining experience since 1990. The restaurant provides fresh fish and chips as their specialty. Customers can enjoy table service with polite servers and a mix of enjoyable music. The location near the Brighton Zip Wire offers the choice to sit upstairs for a better view, especially on sunny days, without being bothered by seagulls.
Again, can't understand why people give this restaurant bad reviews..... it's a absolutely nice restaurant, table service by app, not expensive for Brighton, food taste fantastic and many choices for good drinks.....end beautiful views from bottom to top.....so, highly recommended

Came here for a bite to share as that time of day. The server lady greeted us and explained how to order, and it was table service, very polite. Thank you. We ordered fish and chips and battered chicken peices for our daughter. The food was nice. The fish maybe could have been a little bigger for the prices but perfectly cooked, as was the chicken and went down well. Price wise, a little high in my opinion, but I would cam back as the music playing was a mix of styles, but all enjoyable while you eat. Again, the service was the key thing that made us return.

If you're after good food, this place isn't really the best, even when compared to the fish and chips on pier it's quite poor although I will say the prices are decent. Location and view are spectacular though, on a lovely sunny day this place is fantastic just keep your expectations low.

Lovely rooftop with great views Overall, prices are in line with competitors. £11 for fish and chips and 10 for chicken burger with chips. That being said, I wouldn't recommend the chicken burger as the bun was ice cold, and there's no sauce inside. My wife said the fish was a bit oily but overall ok. Not the best fish and chips but, not the worst either.

DON'T GO HERE! Super rude staff, glass was dirty, paper in the Coke, food was bad, there wasn't even lemon with the Fish'n Chips. Staff made us run around and do their job. Didn't give us our ketchup and cutlery and told us to go get it ourselves. Served the wrong soft drink and was very rude about being told so. Was being sarcastic and implied I shouldn't drink 'full FAT Coke' due to being overweight. Didn't have the food we ordered and needed to reorder and had a refund.

Well located by the Brighton Zip Wire you can choose to sit upstairs or downstairs. Upstairs you definitely get a better view particularly on a sunny day and you can enjoy your fish and chips without fear of interruption from your local seagulls. Service is friendly and prompt, fish and chips a little on the prices side but I guess it is Brighton!!

Cute bar with a nice sea view. There are not a lot of food choices. Fish and chips were fine, though the seafood platter was a bit too oily. There were no cocktails on the menu.
