Fabulous Sunday lunch. I had the cauliflower tart which was delicious and my partner enjoyed the lamb shank. The additional cauliflower cheese and braised red cabbage were spot on! Extremely friendly service with a shout out to Stevie!

What a great pub off a side street. Lovely lady on the bar. As a solo female diner I felt incredibly comfortable. Couple of vegan opinions so I ordered the butternut squash ravioli. Wow, it was excellent, garlicky and tangy tomato. Highly recommend.

Visited for a chill lunch with friends. Booking was smooth and service excellent on arrival. The food came quickly and was top quality, we all enjoyed our meals. Fab place to visit, thanks

Booked a table on a Saturday for tea. Nice atmosphere, welcoming staff & good food. What's not to like.

We arrived after the Cardiff half marathon had just finished and it was heaving with people. But our table was ready. The queue at the bar went fast and the food (which we ordered assuming there’d be a decent wait given the number of people) came out super fast. Really tasty roast and lovely staff. They dealt so well with the huge numbers people in there that afternoon Food was great too

Good selection on tap (lager, ales, cider) and a good range of spirits and mixers available too. The staff were friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. I appreciate the interior design of the pub but my absolute favourite element is the large beer garden. The garden has a variety of tables suitable for every need, some tables in the open and others under shelter. There are heaters for the evenings and blankets that can be borrowed. I first went here around 10 years ago when I last lived in Wales and I’m so glad to have found it again!

I took my elderly grandparents for lunch on a Saturday- there were 9 of us and the whole experience was stress free. Super quick service and the food was really great. The fish and chips got a thumbs up from both grandparents which is rare!

A long way out of town but fairly close to the Cardiff City stadium. And it was worth it. Lovely friendly pub. Loads of real ales. I found some Bombardier again!! It was empty when I walked in but packed an hour later with not enough staff!! Why on earth don't they pay extra staff, organise themselves and get a bumper Boxing day pay out !! After all January won't be busy. It really isn't rocket science. We gave up queuing in the end and went to the Stadium. They really are missing a trick with 3k away fans....considering it is such a lovely unique place...

Once great independent free house slipping slowly towards mediocrity. While beer selection remains strong, the menu has reduced and people freely vape on their ‘chav pipes’ inside the bar ignoring the smoke free rules. Staff indifferent to this - probably partake themselves.

Famous Cardiff Pub, in the Canton Markets area, once used by the many rail and postal workers. Sympathetically redeveloped, with apartments. Independant, great staff, cask ales, carbonara style pasta bake was awesome. Friendly locals too, darts and a piano !. Worth a visit , rail and bus easy reach." Great pub. Friendly atmosphere with lovely staff. The food is great and reasonably priced for the quality. I love the burgers. I really recommend it. It has a really 'old school' pub vibe with lots of different beer mats decorating the bar. The layout is arranged so there are intimate little corners for a quiet date or large tables in the back room for a large group of friends. Would really recommend.

The food here is *really good* I can recommend the flat iron steak with green sauce. Good atmosphere, an open mic music on first and last Tuesday. Pretty minimal uncomplicated decor but manages to feel cosy. Not accessible that I can tell. They might have a ramp if you ask.

We hired the function room for a private party. The service was flawless - staff were super helpful, food was lovely (& there was plenty of it), & the room itself was gorgeous. We had a great night, due in large part to how fab the staff & venue were. Thank you so, so, much. Special shout-out to Steve the bartender for getting the karaoke started with those silky pipes of his - what a legend!! xx

Had my 60th birthday party upstairs and lovely room,holds up to about 50 people easily. Huge tv for events. Connected my phone for the playlist,and they had karaoke if needed. Bar upstairs -staff very accommodating. Would definitely book again

One of the best old school feel brains pubs in the city centre.. fantastic friendly staff... The best served pint of SA.. a credit to all... can't wait for my next visit. It's a shame I live in London.

I went to the City arms for a few drinks I had my reform shirt 👕 on I was minding my own business then the door man who then asked me to take my drink outside and leave I would not recommend this pub

My husband and I recently organised a charity quiz night at this pub in support of Mind UK, and it was an absolute delight. The private function room was just what we needed – spacious enough to accommodate all our teams comfortably while allowing us to seamlessly connect our laptop to the screens for presentations and videos. The stage was a fantastic addition, making it easy to showcase our raffle prizes and extend heartfelt gratitude to our guests. The microphone system was a game-changer, especially when the energy was high and drinks were flowing. It helped rally everyone's attention without a hitch. The private bar was a hit among our guests, offering a fantastic array of drinks, and the fully equipped karaoke machine was an absolute blast. The staff were incredibly kind and supportive throughout, contributing to our successful fundraising efforts for Mind UK. Their assistance was invaluable, and we're already planning to book another event here soon. A huge thank you to the entire team for making our night memorable and for aiding us in raising significant funds for such a crucial cause. Highly recommended for any event needs – they truly go above and beyond!

I recently visited this bar for the first time and had a wonderful experience. The highlight for me was the little garden. It was very peaceful to sit next to a tree and enjoy my drink in such a serene setting. I enjoyed the quality of the wine too! I'll definitely be coming back!

Allows dogs, great, but very little gluten free foods on menu for the little humans. Service was excellent. Friendly staff, had a view of the Wheel on the bay water front Only reason a lower rate, nothing gluten free

What a cracking visit! Rob was an absolute legend – his witty banter had us laughing from the moment we walked in. Friendly, sharp, and full of charm, he brings real character to the place. The pints were top-tier – perfectly poured and ice-cold. You can tell they care about quality here. And the food? Absolutely fantastic – piping hot, full of flavour, and hit the spot perfectly. Great atmosphere, excellent service, and a real credit to Rob for making it such a memorable experience. We’ll definitely be back!

Found this gem when visiting Cardiff absolutely amazing food, drinks and atmosphere. Had the mixed grill and it's the best I have had. Prices fantastic and location perfect.

If you thought from the pictures and menu that you would find a nice craft beer pub with a chill vibe then you would be disappointed. Poor range of beers, horrible DJ, loud music and 80s disco lightshow. Chap outside with flyers for a free shot - 'any shot you like!'. Not true. Apple or raspberry sourz, and you have to buy a pint. Neck Oil £7.50 a pint. Everyone apparently ready to fight, barstaff, bouncers, and punters. Dreadful place.

No longer sells food, I was looking forward to the pies but now see all reviews mentioning them are 6+ years ago. Enjoyed a nice pint of Brains. Music was upbeat pop. Otherwise decent vibe for a Tuesday evening, looks like it caters to a young crowd on weekends, with jagerbomb deals advertised and DJ booth in the corner.

Traditional pub. Quiet when we went early on a Thursday evening. The pint of SA was terrible but other drinks good.

Small'ish pub (used to be Kitty Flyn's), interesting bar food (good pie selection). Good selection of ales (beers change regularly - but beware of short measures though - especially on the flight of beers offer). Some of the staff could really make more of an effort.

The best place in Cardiff for a beer with a burger - and onion rings, which were as crispy as they looked. Appreciate that you can try before you buy. Tried them all so for once, I finally found a beer I liked and will stick with - Cwtch. Rebel IPA was nice too. Great service and ambience.

I’ve drank here for years but never had food here until today. Ordered the Cardiff deli sandwich and I have to say it was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised. An old school pub which I really like and turns out the food is great too.

During this short trip to Cardiff we came twice to this lovely place. The first visit was by chance, as we were simply looking for a place where we could just have lunch on a very busy Sunday, with everything completely full. Amazing pub really shows the welsh spirit, it has got the food the service and the vibes also has international decoration which gives the pub welcoming vibes for foreign customers , the staff were amaizing and the decoration is great really love the old wood style and how they kept their heritage, the rugby references were also beautiful. Came for judgement day. Had food and pint before the rugby. Chicken and rib combo was superb washed down with the local brains SA. Wide range of sports on the tv. Staff very friendly and Mark the landlord was knowledgeable about his rugby and sport in general. Will come back after the rugby for a few pints. Found a new when travelling to Cardiff city centre.

Quite simply the best pub in Cardiff. My wife and I were there on Sunday afternoon and the atmosphere and beer were amazing. We decided to stay and have something to eat and settled for some fish & chips, which turned out to be a wise decision because what we were served up with was possibly the best fish & chips we’ve ever had. You just knew that it was swimming in the sea that morning blissfully unaware that it would end the day on my plate. We’ll be back for more!!

Delicious food and warm service right by the castle I visited The Blue Bell twice during my stay in Cardiff—first for the Welsh Rarebit and then again for the traditional Wells faggots. Both were absolutely delicious, with generous portions and very fair prices (£5.50 and £11.95). The pub is cosy, peaceful, and just steps away from Cardiff Castle. Andy, the server, was friendly and attentive, and there was no wait at all. A great spot for tasty local food and a relaxed atmosphere.

A cracking pub in a brilliant location. Ordered a pint of cask ale. Barrel was lively and bubbled the bar staff found this not good enough and started a fresh pint to ensure a smooth pint with a great head. Also at a great price. Wonderful classic fixings, music at nice level. A champion pub

Seatings are spacious and comfortable. Great place to chill and relax. Staff are friendly and helpful. We tried the Taste of Wales and ordered Welsh rarebit and glamorgan sausage. Both are yummy with right portions and good price.

Recommended by locals, it is one of the oldest pubs in the heart of Cardiff and is a solid, classic pub with everything you could want: a good selection of drinks ranging from beer and cider to wine and cocktails, classic pub food with vegetarian options (veggie burgers), which unfortunately closes relatively early, good music and sports broadcasts in a pleasant, classically dark interior with friendly service. Everything is reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

Had Sunday lunch here which was a major let down. The meat was so tough, you couldn't cut it with a normal knife. It tasted as though it was leftover from last Sunday's lunch. Broccoli and carrots were out of a frozen packet, I wasn't given any baked leeks and the food was cold. Good location across from Cardiff Castle but I wouldn't come here again

I don’t know which Gordon Ramsey protégé is working here in the kitchen today but it’s good enough that I’ve come on mid meal to be like god dang y’all. This is the nicest food I’ve ever had from here, excellent job!

Come in for something healthy, but they had sold out of salad, so I ordered steak and ice cream for dessert! It all come as one, I finished the steak, went for a second pint, and when I come back the table was cleared, including my untouched ice cream. Food was decent pub grub. Not expensive either.

Amazing Sunday lunch. The roast was a great size and the 'I want it all' option is ideal for those who can't decide or who are greedy. Friendly and attentive service, even though it was super busy. Would recommend and will hurry back.

Nice rooms and good food. Premium prices for both, and based on other people's good reviews, I had hoped for a little bit more. Friendly service, especially from Emma at breakfast. Of the many bed and breakfast locations we have stayed in locally, we felt this location offered poor value for money. We stayed in room 2 (in May), which was one of two rooms built partly into the roof space: there were three roof light windows with only restricted views (but probably better than the other two rooms), and low headroom in much of the room. Although the windows offered reasonable ventilation, because the room was built into the roof the temperature was uncontrollably hot. The room had a bath and shower, but the bath was slow to fill and extremely slow (10-15 minutes) to drain. The two first floor bedrooms were accessed via a narrow staircase at the rear of the pub. Cooked breakfast needed to be ordered the night before, and consisted of standard items plus coffee, toast, cereal, juice and blueberries. We walked to the pub, but parking was limited. The bedroom carpet was badly worn in one place, and covered with a rug which was a bit of a trip hazard. Fresh milk provided in the room, but no decaf tea or coffee.

Came here last Saturday evening with the kids for my wife's birthday. Been meaning to visit for ages but always seemed like a pain to get to. Really enjoyed the walk from taffs well station (even after in the dark) along and up from the river bank. It was busy but unlike most busy pubs/ restaurants they embraced it rather than struggled to cope. Clearly a well managed place with a good team. Food was lovely, drinks choice was superb, and the service was great too. Two trains each way for us to get over from where we live in Cardiff but well worth it to be able to enjoy a few drinks. We'll be back again soon.

First of all came in and it was very friendly service. Ordered boneless chicken strips and when it’s came out it was the bone chicken wings. I went up to the waiter to say about this and he sighted not very nice about it even though it was their mistake. When the boneless chicken strips finally arrived they were dripping with water and falling apart. Overall terrible food and service won’t come again.

We hired a space here for my 30th birthday and it was perfect! We had exclusive use of the canope area and were able to decorate the space and play our own playlist, which made the event feel really personal and fun. The staff were absolutely lovely and made sure everything ran smoothly. The food was great, and the beer/cocktails kept everyone happy. Highly recommend this venue for anyone thinking of hiring a space for a party or event (plus the doggos can join in). A special mention to Zechariah who helped the vision materialise by meeting with me beforehand and corresponding to my 100 emails and questions. Super star!

Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Came here for lunch this afternoon with my wife, dog and baby daughter. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. The bar staff were lovely, offering a high chair for the little one and even some dog biscuits for our lab! The staff were also very knowledgeable about their drinks and even gave my wife a free sample to try! (Which was delicious). The food was affordable and great portion sizes. The fish finger sandwich particularly went down an absolute treat! Thanks guys!

Very disappointing experience at the Brewhouse for Father's day. We were sat down at our table and we ordered our drinks which were supposed to include a free pint of beer and single shot of whisky. The waiter told us that is was only half a pint and walked off. We had to go to the counter and show the actual advert, they reluctantly agreed. Our drinks arrived and no whisky. We called them back over and eventually the whisky arrived. The whole situation appeared intentional to not give the free drinks. The food arrived relatively quickly and we were again disappointed (photo added), there was a small portion of vegetables and even less gravy. They refused to add more vegetables and reluctantly brought over a small additional portion of gravy. Before we could ask for any sauces, they walked off again. I then had to go and ask for them. I wouldn't have minded if it had been very busy, it wasn't at all. We've been here for the last 4 father's days, unfortunately it will be our last.

I've been coming here for decades, when it was the Mochyn Du - only one of two pubs that served Leffé on draught.. There's always a friendly crowd here in large and spacious in and outdoor areas. My visit on 20/6/25 was distasteful as the queue was long, but people were getting served at a good pace, however; when I got served at 5.55, the pleasant young lady said the 6pm happy hour had finished!? There were other customers frustrated by this too. We left early due to this disappointment.

I visited the Brewery and Kitchen in Sophia Gardens with a friend last month, on a busy Saturday, and had a wonderful, delicious meal at a very good price. Great atmosphere. The staff, led by Amy, were helpful and delightful. I had a beef burger laced with a delicious 'jam', one which Amy's grandmother makes at home. And the sweets were fabulous. I would thoroughly recommend a visit... and ask Amy about the jam!

This is literally the reason we come come to Cardiff! My favourite bar in the world, and I class myself as well travelled. Food is great quality, drinks are very well priced for a city centre bar and the atmosphere is incredible, no matter what time of the day you visit, whether it’s during the day, or into the night. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, whether that’s service, bar or security… Live music during the day, and a great DJ who knows how to play to the crowd of a night, genuinely couldn’t ask for more!

Good place to hang out with friends. Mix crowd, bunch of youngsters and middle age, above middle age people. Live music is really good. There is DJ as well. Staff are very helpful, cleaning and clearing tables everywhere.

Our visit was rather limited as 4 of us went to the bar and as part of the order wanted 2 pints of Erdinger on draft. The barmaid started pouring it into a straight glass so we prompted could have the correct glass. She said they didn’t have any clean so we said we didn’t want one then. She rolled her eyes so rather than have confrontation all 4 of us walked out. We ended up in a pub a few doors away with pleasant service and great staff attitude with a £100 spend through the evening. If you don’t or cant provide the correct glass for a “premium” beer at a premium price then don’t sell it or go out of your way to ensure you have clean ones. This was capped off with the barmaids attitude resulting in this review. We were mature people looking for a nice pleasant experience that we didn’t get. Shame on you on this occasion.

First time back here in years and thankfully it's still great. Beautiful exterior and interior, beer choice not the best and no craft but they serve a very good pint of Guinness. Really nice atmosphere for city centre and friendly staff. Not sure about the food situation as I couldn't see any menus

I first visited this pub in 2007 when it was a Brains pub. Beer and food were good then. It closed down during Covid and remained closed for a year or so afterwards. Reopened in 2024 (?) under new ownership. It's a tradition pub with interesting unique exterior and cosy interior. Outdoor seating in fine weather. Lagers, Guinness etc and usually two real ales on handpull. Limited food at certain times but always well kept real ales at typical city centre prices. Usually my first port of call for a beer when in Cardiff.

One of Cardiff’s old pubs that was Brains for many years. Following Brains demise the pub closed and subsequently re-opened. A reasonable pint of Guinness and fairly busy inside.

Had a fantastic night with friends, beer great, service super, great pub to chill relax and chat . Highly reccomended.

Wow, just came up from London to see my daughter who lives locally, she raved about this pub & it didn’t disappoint. The bar staff were friendly, drinks were perfect, even the locals were nice, but the food? The best fish & chips I’ve had. The others had huge burgers (chicken & Beefburger) which I tasted & were out of this world. It’s a proper pub & I can’t wait to go back!

Great food. I was raised in a part of the US where people prided themselves on the quality of their fried chicken. The Grange was equal to or better that any southern grandmother's ever was. The staff was amazing. Friendly, welcoming, and happy to share their knowledge of Cardiff. Not to mention their expert advice on which pints will best suit your fancy.

A lovely welcoming pub. Manages to be both a traditional pub and to do it with a bit of a young and contemporary vibe. Mind you, I am nearly 60, so anything with a pulse seems young and contemporary to me. Beer garden and generous food portions. Didn't try the food but everyone else in my party said it was good. The pub welcomes dogs.

Best thing about Cardiff! Skip the pier and the inner city and have a Sunday roast at the Grange Pub. Cold drinks, great food and a warm atmosphere are waiting for you. Lovely!

Definitely the best pub in Grangetown, less than ten minutes walk from the back of Cardiff Central Station. Decent choice of beers, a really good beer garden, the pub is also dog friendly. The food is fantastic, really really enjoyed the fried chicken burger, as well as the wings.

I've always liked this place. There's always a good atmosphere and you get a range of people going there which is often a good sign. I've not had food there in years (I don't live locally) but it was always good when I did have it. Whenever I'm visiting friends in Cardiff, we'll normally go here :-)

Nice enough food but expensive. Not child friendly. Some of the staff, including the manager Bryony, can be rude. It’s a shame as it could be a lovely, family friendly pub.

This pub is the place to be if you're looking for some fun nightlife. The music is always on point, the drinks are reasonably priced, and the atmosphere is lively. Whether you're there for a casual drink or to dance the night away, this pub offers a great time. It's always a good idea to get there early, as it can get quite busy later in the evening.

the ladies toilets are FULL of black mould! wtf!! its on the doors, the walls, the ceiling!! stinky like poo and mould mixed u can imagine!! horrid!! also no ice in the drinks and no straws. great for music and the staff seem nice.honestly work hazard for the staff being around so much black mould.

Went for a gig the other day, had a good few pints and loved the vibes inside, however the speaker system for live music was extremely tinny. As someone who works in sound, I can explain that it was clipping multiple times and was very distorted. Highly recommend the Vulcan take steps to improve it.

Great Venue, nice and spacious area for groups, couples etc. Absolutely love the Decor also like the Games Area, Staff were helpful, friendly + communicated well - quality pool table and table tennis area an all roubd great relaxing vibe / atmosphere and wide range of drinks on sale on draught / spirits etc definatly will be going back nect time I'm in the area

Decent vibe, but can get quite student heavy which is great for some but a bit much those wanting a quiet pint! If you are looking for a bit of an upbeat time they hold regular events with a decent sound system and atmosphere! 🍺

Alright pub, drinks are well priced and good for value. Seating is comfortable and they have a decent area to play pool. The outside seating area is comfortable for smokers and people wanting fresh air. However the only frustrating thing was that they couldn't take card at the time.

I really like going to The Vulcan Lounge because it's very cheap for food and drinks and the staff are very friendly and welcoming

Will always have this place in my heart. The food is always amazing, and it takes about 10-20 minutes to come. It was not too expensive. It is easily accessible and has a lift. They also have toilets etc.

Extremely busy, low staff numbers, waited 40 minutes for our drinks (2 x pints of coke), waited an hour and 15 minutes for food! Extremely hot inside, no air conditioning. Tables hadn't been cleared at all during our 2 hour visit. Staffing levels needs to be better, especially when events are happening!

Don't normally leave bad reviews, but... So bad. Mostly about cleanliness levels. Had to ask four or five times for someone to wipe a table. Mess everywhere. Couldn't enter my pin number on the card machine when I paid because the buttons were sticky. Paid on a different machine and although successful, the pin machine buttons were also sticky. So gross. Couldn't finish my food. If the areas you can see are this bad, I couldn't help wondering what this kitchen was like. Conscious it's a busy site but food cleanliness needs to be maintained as a bare minimum.

Popular, for good reason. Always seems welcoming with good ales , pretty good food (including excellent breakfast) and very cheap but tasty coffee. A frequent watering hole for us when we want something cheap and cheerful!

Food was luke warm and I was missing items on my plate didn’t see a server to complain, worst spoons I have been to and I’ve been to Neath Wetherspoons which was the worst one I’ve been to since today

Porter's is by far my favourite place to go on a night out! The free live music is always top quality and groovy (videos and pictures from last year or so attached). The atmosphere is always so uplifting and I always leave dancing. The staff are lovely, drinks are really affordable and they even do student deals. If you are a student, visiting or living in Cardiff and haven't been, make this bar a top priority to visit!

Another semi hidden pub in the heart of city centre which is well worth a visit. There’s always something on during the week, open mic night, live music, and I believe comedy shows. If you go early on a weekend (after 4pm) it can be fairly quiet. They even have a small area with some classic video games to play.

Beautiful find . The bar maid open up the choc bloc gin and encouraged testers. It was nice to try new drinks. The bar staff so friendly its like walking into a friendly local . The band got everyone dancing . Everyone danced loved it .

The foxy Roxie's held a magnificent event which was packed with even the 3 mothers of the performers in attendance. We all fitted in, had a fab time. Comfortable, clean and tidy. Buzzing. Such a good vibe. Right size. Bar. looked good. First impressions, absolutely impressed. no drunks.

Cosy place and retro modern feeling! Good service and "delicious" drinks! Quite large place if you counting the outside places! Considering the blend between a bar and theatre it perfect for the lovers of laughter and spicy conversations and interesting smart people! Interesting corners for a quieter conversation! Place outside for smokers! I liked it very much and recommend the experience! We’re back at the end of September 2018!

We attended a wedding reception for a big group. The staff could not do enough to help us all have a great day! They were very quick to serve all guests and helped out at all times. The garden was a great space and well used by the guests. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Albany for any occasion. Thank you so much!

Had an amazing night playing the pub quiz (might be because we won). Brilliant atmosphere and very friendly patrons and staff alike. Paula ran the quiz and was very accommodating and brought a real sense of fun to the quiz. Lovely range of beer and ales on offer at a reasonable price. Will definitely come again thank you!!!

Enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch at the Albany. I had beef and my partner had chicken. The food arrived well presented, piping hot and very very tasty... generous servings at affordable prices. I 100% recommend.

We had our dad’s wake at The Albany. The landlord and family, Paula, Terry and Luke, put on an amazing event for us. The service and care we got from them was exceptional. We couldn’t recommend it enough for anyone planning something similar. It’s also a lovely place to have a pint, great garden, and even has a skittles alley. What more could you ask for. Thank you!

My favourite pub in Roath, has a great atmosphere with a warm feel and the best pub garden around. Owners (Paula and Terry) are very welcoming and you can tell they give great care to the place and to their customers. Couldn't recommend enough!

Had a really enjoyable Sunday lunch. Excellent selection of veg. and loads of it. Presentation and service was First class and a pint of Brains Bitter is one of the best you will get anywhere. Every success to the Licensees.

Visited on a Thursday Evening and the upstairs lounge was very quiet in fact we were the only ones in there, after we ordered our food they shut the bar so if we wanted anymore to drink we would of had to go downstairs to the bar. Service was great and food lovely.

Sadly wasn't a great success, they had no cheese and ran out of sausages. Fish was delicious but chips and peas were lukewarm and cash only. Seemed to only be one member of staff but she did really well under the circumstances and was quick and friendly.

Took the Grandkids here for Saturday lunch, we all enjoyed an adult main course plus a yummy pud, all for under £40 so good value. Not fine dining but adequate and a tasty meal.

It was a bit foreboding at first. It has the look of an estate pub, the type with a flat roof typical of rough areas, but this is not the case. Inside it was comfortably furnished and having found a place where we felt we would like to eat and chat we ordered a couple of meals and drinks. I would say it was no better or worse than J.D. Wetterpants in terms of quality and value for money. Not busy during the early afternoon. There isn't much nearby as the area is very residential to one side with the nearby Newport Rd and all of its shops and outlets to the South.

Go here quite regularly but following our visit last Friday 23rd March we will not be returning. The food was disgusting and the service just as bad. Fish so over cooked that it was dry and the batter a dark brown I had to ask the barman if they could make a BLT as it was not on the menu I had to explain that a BLT consisted of bacon, lettuce and tomato in a baguette or sandwich he went and asked the chef who said yes. A chicken club sandwich was served instead with cold grilled chicken. The barman asked if we were happy with our meals we said no for the reasons above he said 'O I will tell the cook' that was the last we saw of him until he served the table next to us with the nicest looking piece of fish with a golden batter at this point we got up to leave and one of our party approached the barman to reiterate our complaint and his response was '''Yeah sorry about that'.

The quintessential local pub experience. Cheap and cheerful food, reasonable beers and a man propping up the bar so long he's covered in a thick layer of dust everywhere but his drinking arm. 5 stars: would get glassed again.

Run for the benefit of the staff. Kitchen is supposed to serve until 9 pm but will refuse to take orders any time they are"busy". Seen people turned away at 8.15 when staff want to finish early. Brewery need to sack the lot and get some worthy workers in

A really brilliant experience here. Make sure you download the audio guide and bring your earphones. One thing I would have preferred is that their locations and different numbers so you would know what to listen to add particular spots. But it's great to see so many languages catered for and despite it being busy, it was a really peaceful and enjoyable atmosphere. Definitely a highlight on my trip to Cardiff.

Lovely well-maintained castle, friendly staff, and spacious lawns which make for a beautiful sight. It’a not very big but it’s lovely to see and the Firing Line museum below is informative and interesting. Worth a visit!

Definitely worth the trip to the castle. The views from the top are amazing. Quite steep steps to go up to the top though. I would also recommend doing the tour for the extra money. The tour takes you to some extra places that you are not allowed to go on with a standard admission ticket. You will need to look at the times when the tours take place before you go.

Cardiff Castle was a fantastic experience. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the grounds felt like a peaceful mini park in the heart of the city. I joined a guided tour to explore the stunning Castle Apartments, including the ornate Arab Room and Roof Garden — absolutely worth it. Climbing the Norman Keep’s steep stairs rewarded me with breathtaking panoramic views of Cardiff. The castle’s mix of rich history, beautiful architecture, and family-friendly atmosphere makes it a must-visit. Highly recommended!

This castle is worth visiting. Many things to see and do. The house is lovely and there’s an informative museum too. Children love to roam at the ground. No parking available on the site. You need to find one on the other place.

Lovely castle at the heart of Cardiff city centre. One of the most well-preserved castles we visited. We visited on a weekday so it was not too crowded. The highlight was walking through the WW2 air raid shelter. The posters, the darkness and the sound effects from the speakers really enhanced our experience and we felt as if we travelled back in time. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our visit and we highly recommend it as a must see when you visit Cardiff.

Viewed this castle the rooms are very art deco it's amazing how they painted the walls and I do love the stain glass windows. If you feel you have the energy the steps to the castle ruins is a must as it shows views over the town.

We visited The Corner House during a August bank holiday weekend trip in Cardiff. Prior to the trip I’d done some research and found that the Corner House’s menu looked rather appealing therefore decided to book a table on the Tuesday evening to dine there. We were slightly early upon arrival from our reserved time however there were plenty of places to sit and we were quickly shown to a downstairs table. The venue looked clean and presentable and there were a few other people in during the time of our visit however it wasn’t overly crowded or busy. The service was good and the waitress was quick to take our orders. Overall, I’d say the service was quick and we didn’t seem to be waiting long between courses. They were also prompt to bring the bill when requested and to take payment which is good. The menu items were a little on the pricy side depending on what you ordered therefore I expected it to be good decent tasty food. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel this was the case although all of the food was nice it didn’t exactly wow me or bowl me over and left me feeling a little disappointed. To start I opted for the Pan Fried King Prawns at £10.50 which were tasteless, didn’t really taste of anything. The main was slightly better, I ordered Signature Duo of Pork at £21.25 and I did request the dish with additional scallops but they didn’t have any which was disappointing. The dish itself however was nice. My partner opted for the ‘dirty burger’ and at £21.50 you’d probably expect it to be something special however upon arrival it looked just like any other burger you’d get from any restaurant nothing overly special about it at all. I opted for dessert and had Toffee Crème Brulee at £9.75, not sure what I was expecting with this, the menu said strawberries and there were no strawberries on the plate I’m guessing they didn’t have any. The portion size seemed rather small considering how much I paid for it and once again wasn’t anything special about it. Unfortunately, I don’t believe the food here lives up to the expectations, although it was nice that’s all I can really say about it. Perhaps if I had chosen different dishes my experience would have been better. However, from what we did eat I believe it to be over priced especially the burger my partner opted for. The price point doesn’t really reflect the taste I expected, I thought it would be food I’d rave about for ages afterwards but it was quickly forgettable. In the end perhaps my expectations were too high on this occasion the menu over delivered but in reality, the food under delivered for me. Once again this is just my opinion but I wouldn’t recommend or visit this venue again.

Perfect spot for a drink an evening meal. Lovely food and amazing service. Shoutout to our waiters Rhoda and Alex who were very friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend a visit here and loved the new revamp that they have had.

Absolutely loved this place. I had the port & cheddar mushrooms to start and the chargrilled gammon steak for mains — both were excellent. The steak was grilled to perfection, with just the right amount of seasoning and char, far better than the usual pub standard. Everything felt well balanced, especially the flavours and textures. What really stood out was the attention to detail — not just in the food, but also in the overall service. The staff were kind and professional, and the atmosphere was warm and relaxed. You can tell they care about the customer experience. If you’re looking for a casual but high-quality lunch, this is definitely a spot worth visiting.

I was excited for the menu with all the environmental options and promising vegetarian for me and meat for others in our party. Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment - but they did fix one thing, which was appreciated - and they had two good things: the halloumi fries and chips - so perfect! The burger was over burned, they replaced it and he liked it. But the Mac and cheese was completely bland like they forgot the cheese, - the onion rings were undercooked and oily, and - the pesto asparagus was bitter and tough. They said they’d make me more, but never did and I was tired so didn’t chase it. I did tell them the new burger was good and appreciated. We paid a lot of money for all of that and it was disappointing to send it back. I hope they improve.

A really lovely meal with my partner on a Sunday afternoon! Holly served us promptly and sweetly. The Yorkshire puddings were delicious and so was the meat. Highly recommended!

I popped in for lunch the other day and had such a lovely time. The food was absolutely beautiful, really tasty and nicely presented. The staff were all so pleasant and helpful and I must mention Lucy, one of the waitresses — such a bubbly young lady and so good at her job. She really brightened up my day! It’s a lovely place and I’ll certainly be going back again soon.

Came here Saturday with my partner. We arrived at about 4 pm and were seated straight away. Quite a few people there at this time but not rammed. Service was fast with drinks being served to us very quickly. We ordered plate a and plate b. I had plate b which was £40. Having been here a few times over the years and it being on point, I have to say on this occasion I was slightly disappointed. The brisket was a bit dry. The ribs were well smoked and had nice flavour but ribs on the small end of the rack were very hard. The beans were absolutely banging fairplay. The coleslaw was fresh and creamy but lacked any real flavour to be honest. There wings and pulled pork were really nice. For the price and considering it's a smoke house I expected the plate to be on point so was a bit of a lot down. Also I noticed the burger menu average price was £20!! That's very steep for burger and Fries in my opinion. Overall the experience this time was just OK. Staff were very nice and the service was great.

Went on a monday about 5pm....very quiet..welcomed by lovely girl i think chloe?? Orederd food ..didnt take long to arrive ..drinks were reasonably priced...food was banging ! Amazing ! .deffoget yr money worth and quality was fab! Staff were amazing.friendly.efficent attentive ..! I gave dessert a miss but my son etc had some.lookd amazing they said it tasted fab! But we all agreed no dezsert worth 9.50!?? Over priced. Miller amd carter amd most places are 7.50.sp deducted a point for that as size quite small and jzt well overpriced! However great staff great service great food will deffo return..thanks guy yu do a great job!

One of my absolute favourite restaurants in Cardiff! Incredible BBQ sauce, meat is delicious, Wing Wednesday is a great deal. Bonus that they're fabulous with my Coeliac gluten free and nut allergy.

Enjoyed our visit to the Plough, first time in some years as I live other end of city. Booked for an early dinner before attending a Paint and Prosecco night’s which they do once a month. Lots of fun would recommend for anyone looking for a mid week activity either on your own or as a group

Haven’t been to the Plough for years for food, usually favouring the Villagio, Fox, or Fino. Due to the 40% discount on mains thought we’d give it another go. Service was decent but sadly the noise levels were unbearable and whilst the food was largely “okay” beware that a medium steak is more what I’d call very well done, dry. Also seemed pretty small portion of meat but maybe it shrunk due to overcooking. Not worth £19.50 before discount anyway.

I went there for my birthday, (I had a voucher) Everyone was pleased with their food. I had the halloumi, pepper & courgette kebab, 🍢 it was lovely! We'd all go again!

The food here is absolutely amazing. Shout out to the chef. Arrived hot, great presentation and tasted wonderful. The prices are reasonable with a great variation on the menu. Didn’t have to wait to get served and couldn’t fault the service.

Went with a group early evening. The staff were very friendly and polite. Drinks came fairly quickly but we waited nearly an hour for the food. My meal, the special pie was really nice, my wife’s fish however came in a batter that seemed overcooked and quite inedible. The waiter said he would tell the chef, I hope he did. Some improvement needed, this would make a big difference.

Had lunch today at the plough. Drinks were prompt. The food we had was hot and tasty. Lasagne’s and burger, deserts were also lovely. Crumble, brownie and cheesecake. Alex was very helpful and friendly, checked on our food and table throughout. Alex seemed to be the sole server for the dining area and managed this excellently even with two larger tables eating beside a few smaller tables like ours. Thanks, will definitely be back.

I had the pub chicken tika with a pint of cider and Guiness later on. The food was tasty and reasonably priced, it also came quite fast which was nice. The staff are really friendly.

Great spot with excellent outdoor seating! I love to sit and people watch with a beverage… the weather was great, the beer was cold. Very happy. Lots on tap and friendly service.

Lovely steak with the light option, and the salad was different to the normal, boring salads and tasty.

Came in for a quiet pint. Great music and amazing bar staff as always. Will and George were great hosts and very accommodating as always. The range of drinks are very good with a vast range to pick from. The pub has the feel of a local pub which you don’t often get in the city centre.

Came here for some food whilst out shopping and I have to say the service was amazing as well as the food. I've never been here before but I now have a new local. There's plenty of seating outside and the inside offers a warm environment, especially now that it's cold. Amazing service from the barman Will. I will definitely be back!

The staff at the duke have been absolutely fantastic on my visit. Warm and welcoming, nothing to much for them and it seems to be a very well oiled machine. On top of this the food was outstanding for pub grub, I went for the tuna jacket, very impressed with the presentation, and the taste was fantastic. My partner loves burgers so went for the cowboy burger, and he demolished it. I’ll certainly be back to the Duke, thanks again to the welcoming staff.

Went for the first time with friends. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating especially the barman with the reversed baseball cap on. Food was quick and absolutely delicious..will definitely now be our favourite go to! Thank you Duke of Wellington!

A decent place overall. The meat pie was excellent — tasty and well-prepared. The salad, on the other hand, wasn’t as good and felt a bit underwhelming. The wait for the food was quite long, which made us a bit anxious. It would be nice if things moved faster. Still, the atmosphere was pleasant and made the visit more enjoyable. Dog friendly.

On the way to train station and called in for something to eat...was bit late for breakfast and too early for lunch but fortunately O' Neill's serve all day. I really liked the different choices on the menu. And food was very tasty and very little wait time. Evenings are most likely geared to drinking, party nights and sporting events. But definitely a good spot for breakfast or lunch.

Spent the afternoon here before the Stereophonics gig. The DJ was on point and created a fabulous, happy atmosphere. Also love the floating shots service. Although busy the bar staff were quick to fulfil the orders and keep the pints flowing. Can’t recommend enough for a pre gig drink or five!!

Food is decent but I’m not a fan of places where all the ordering is done on an app. The staff were friendly but one star for service given the process of ordering from your phone.

If I could recommend this place a thousand times, I would! We booked a table before going to the Utilita Arena, I would highly recommend booking in advance if you’re going to an event because it can get busy. There are QR codes on the table for you to order but unfortunately ours didn’t work, so we had to go to the bar to order. I had the Green Machine Mac & Cheese which was delicious. My partner had the Rocket Man pizza which he said was great, it was quite big but it was thin so not too filling. We also had to have the tater tots which are always among the best I’ve ever had!! It was busy when we arrived, but service was still impeccable and we didn’t wait too long for food. If I’m ever in the arena for an event, I absolutely will be coming here.

Nice and clean place. Staff are amazing and friendly. Prices are reasonable. Pizza was okayish, wasn’t the best. Too thin and bit greasy. My wine was very good though.

Food and drinks at Stable today, I forget how great this place is. Firstly booked for 6 but ended up being 8 which was accommodated with no fuss. Pizza's were insane. The best selection of ciders and beers. Staff amazing too. Great, straightforward, no fuss, good value, delicious food, great service. Just what we all needed after Cardiff Half.

Absolutely amazing service by Charlotte and Alex, made sure we had enough food and drink, would 100% recommend as it’s fabulous, £37 for bottomless cocktails and food!!! Bottomless brunch is really good value for money. As a group of 5 we shared bowls of tater tots, garlic bread and nachos to start. This was probably enough food, but then also had a pizza each! The staff were great, really friendly and helpful. I think our waiters name was Evan and he was exceptional. We had booked a table on a day there was a big concert in the castle so everywhere was extremely busy, however this did not reflect in the service. We didn’t have to wait long for our food or drinks. Would highly recommend

Four of us visited in March and 12 of us in April, for lunch and a couple of pints. Service and food were excellent on both occasions. Really good pub food, exceptionally friendly staff and a casual, warm feel to the place. The recent re-opening, refurbishment and the cheerful, obliging new manager make the Conway a great community pub. Thank you! We all enjoyed and are planning a return trip.

The Conwy has recently been taken over, it is still set out as a lovely little family restaurant. Prices are pretty standard, staff very attentive and friendly, well presented, food really tasty and fresh veg used, lovely atmosphere. Lovely Sunday lunch. I will be going again when next in Cardiff, you should give it a try, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Good pub food - both the steak and the lamb were nice dishes. Slightly disappointing wine offering (although good beer selection) and the service was efficient although they were rushed off their feet! Dog friendly, which is a plus.

Lovely place but very limited vegan options on the menu. Only one starter and one main labelled vegan on the menu. Staff were very nice and swrvice qas quick. Had the hummus starter. Could have done with much more caramelised onion and a bit less tahini. The rest of the group enjoyed their food much more but I personally won't rush back.

Nice pub venue in the centre of Cardiff. Short staffed but the guy behind the bar was very helpful and friendly. The food was pub food but pretty decent. The steak was small and didn't look great but tasted ok. 4* given when considering venue and food compared to other chain pubs.

We had a lovely pre-gig pub lunch here, meeting extended family in December 2024. There was a great varied menu with lots of choices at good affordable prices and we were lucky to grab a table as people were leaving, but I’d recommend making a booking as we went past the prior evening and it was still bustling with business. Despite the roaring trade, service was quick and arrived promptly. It was a decent portion size and tasty. I’d definitely choose this again for an affordable eat close to the Utilita Arena.

I've visited this place with my wife couple days ago and had a great time the atmosphere was beautiful I've ordered the fish and chips which was nice fresh and crispy with side of chips and mushy pease just how i like it. My wife had the steak which was cooked exactly to her liking nice and juicy. Overall had a great experience the staff was lovely and I'll definitely be coming back .

Great place in the city centre. Great in summer when the windows are open. You might think you were in Paris, London or Rome. Great music every second Tuesday featuring the best musicians in Cardiff. Absolutely fabulous. Highly recommend the sourdough cheese on toast.

I love going to The Lounges because of their huge gluten free menu. Ive been to a few and this did not disappoint. The food was great, a wide variety of gluten free options with a dedicated menu. The cocktails are always great and it's a nice cosy atmosphere. The staff are always friendly too.

First time going to Juno Lounge. We’ve recently moved into the area & noticed it was under refurbishment so we were glad that it was finally open! We had the Tapas & a jug of Sangria.. The food was lovely & the atmosphere was good too. Staff were also friendly & helpful. I’d definitely recommend!

I've visited a few different Lounges venues, and had nothing but positive experiences, and Juno Lounge was more of that. The food was delicious, and delivered quickly, and the drinks were very tasty too! There was a slight confusion with one of the drinks orders, but this was rectified promptly. I was unfortunate to leave a personal belonging on the table, and didn't realise until I was far away from the venue, but Ryan was very helpful in reuniting me with my lost item, so extra thanks to him. 10/10 would recommend if you're looking for a reasonably priced place to eat/drink.

I loved that there’s full vegan & gluten free menu. I had crispy cauliflower wings with noodles which was really good!! All staff members were really nice

Lovely place to grab a bite especially with their newly renovated upstairs area. It's bright and airy, filled with natural light and a charming garden-like atmosphere that makes dining feel extra special. We asked for clean glasses but the replacement ones were worse, hence the 4* for service.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 Last Saturday, our whole team from the Albany Road Post Office went to Juno Lounge on Wellfield Road for a team dinner. We had an amazing time! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the food and drinks were excellent, and the service was outstanding. The entire team at Juno Lounge made us feel so well looked after, especially Zoe, who was so friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the evening. A big thank you to everyone working on the bar and the floor staff for making our night special. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great service and a relaxed vibe.

A £10M refurb, a bigger kitchen and a fresh/new vibe can't stop the kitchen from serving frozen onion rings and slaw that tasted like it was made from 2-week old cabbage. It also can't stop the bar serving flat beer at £6.50 a pint. Some of the staff were like zombies, also. Had an even worse experience in the Didcot one a few months back. It aint cheap, either, for what it is. Get it together, guys!

Waited an hour for probably the worst meal ever in a pub. Staff were all young kids, not an adult insight behind the bar. So no supervision. This is what was served up. Luke warm as well. My meal last week. These were the chips from another pub

Popped in here this afternoon with my wife for the First Time we will definitely be back to this lovely establishment my wife had the roast beef and I had the roast turkey dinner All of the food was of excellent quality and delicious All of the staff who served us were brilliant at their jobs and it was a very fast efficient and tasty experience overall do not hesitate to have lunch at this local business. Please be aware that you are strongly advised to book do not turn up and expect to get a table because it is a very popular venue and quite rightly so. PS.is worth going here just for the roast parsnips Yum Yum.

We came today, Sunday 3rd. Lisa was absolutely brilliant, even though she was rushed off her feet! She was so lovely and attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. Such a lovely time with family today at the pantmawr. Food was beautiful and service was brilliant. I had a fantastic experience at The Flora Pub, thanks to the incredible service from Dan and Ellie behind the bar. Both were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive throughout the evening. Dan knows his craft – he made great recommendations and mixed drinks with real skill. Ellie was just as impressive, keeping everything running smoothly with a smile and making sure no glass stayed empty for long. It’s rare to find bartenders who strike the perfect balance between friendly and professional, but Dan and Ellie nailed it. Their energy added so much to the atmosphere and made the night feel special. I’ll definitely be back – and hoping they’re working when I do. Cheers!

Went for Sunday roast - and arrived not long after noon. First off the veggie roast no longer comes with Yorkshire pudding (shock horror! - but I was able to add one for and extra £1. I was impressed when my plate of food first arrived. It looked like a truly edible feast. However, the nut roast was a bit sloppy and had red peppers in it - which was not to my taste - but which others may enjoy. Unfortunately the roast potatoes ( the absolute heart of a Sunday roast!) were hard and tasted mostly of oil. It must be difficult to make roast potatoes en masse and keep them tasting fresh because it seems that restaurants have a difficult time getting them right. Veggie gravy tastes like bog standard Bisto - ‘just add boiling water’ stuff - which was disappointing because I loved the Flora’s veggie gravy from a couple of years ago which was served with a celeriac roast then. The star of the roast was a side of tenderstem broccoli served with wild fresh garlic and a pesto butter - which I could happily have eaten all day.

Nice student pub with very tasty food. Fair prices. Only sad thing is there is no ale or local beer, all cask larger like Amstel or carlsberg .

Great little pub with a warm, laid-back vibe. The real highlight is Dan behind the bar — friendly, quick with a pour, and even quicker with a good story or a solid beer recommendation. Whether you're a regular or just passing through, he makes everyone feel like a local. Definitely worth a visit if you're after good drinks and even better company.

The flora is brilliant I love the style of the bar and the staff are always really friendly. They have a good selection of alcohol as well as soft drinks. The only food I never tried in here is the Sunday roasts and they are absolutely fantastic. I cannot fault them and I have been absolutely stuffed for a day or two after having them would highly recommend them. The atmosphere in the bar and in the beer garden have always been a good one and I love the fact that it's dog friendly as well.

Worst bottomless brunch I’ve had. The brunch its self was in a quiet room upstairs away from the atmosphere of the bar. We started are brunch at 8pm and there was one other group there at the time it just had no vibe there. The drinks were very slow and after waiting awhile for another order my friends went to the bar its self and tried placing an order but were told the server would be over in a minute and to wait and that took an extra 5 minutes. After that the service was a bit better with drinks at least. I kept asking where the food was and it didn’t turn up till 9:30pm when we started at 8pm. The food was pre ordered as well which made it more confusing why it took so long. The food was all cold apart from one of my friends where it was slightly warm. My friend did complain about the food and we had a discount off the price which was good and a tray of free shots. We were told the other table had also complained of the food being cold and at the start of the night a group of girls who saw us coming in said it was awful and there food was cold as well. I’d be more underwing if they were busier but it was quiet and the fact it was pre ordered made me more annoyed. I definitely will not be coming back again for the brunch but the bar downstairs did have a good vibe, I’d recommend going here after a brunch somewhere else.

Went in for a quick brunch before exploring the city. Good and quick service, polite staff and yummy food. The chips that came with the burger were probably one of the best ones I've had in a long while. Crunchy fresh and seasoned to perfection. Loved the seating options too. Overall great experience! Definitely recommend this place.

Had a fantastic experience in The Philharmonic for my best friend’s hen do, there were 16 of us so we were a big group. Plus it was Saturday on a rugby day so it was super busy. We booked for bottomless brunch and the experience was great we all had back to back drinks about 7 per person and the food was out at once and all hot/tasty. We were all super happy, big thank you to the young girl serving us, we were a rowdy group but she was attentive and kept the drinks flowing!

The experience was genuinely awful. First, I was charged a £120 deposit after increasing my booking from 10 to 12 people (double the original £50 deposit with no explanation, despite asking three times). On arrival, we were given three separate tables scattered around the room — despite booking for one group. When I raised this with a staff member, she was rude, dismissive, wouldn’t make eye contact, and rolled her eyes at colleagues. We asked to move to a round table that could actually seat us together — only to find it covered in vomit. We reported it, expecting a proper response, but got another eye roll and the bare minimum of cleaning. More vomit was later found behind cushions and on the floor. Staff called us “high maintenance” for asking for basic hygiene — WE CLEANED UP SOMEONE ELSES VOMIT ON OUR TABLE. The same staff member later accused us of only submitting 4 food orders (we booked for 12), dropped her pen on one of my guests, didn’t apologise, and continued ignoring questions while writing on her clipboard. When I asked who to speak to about all this, she shrugged and said, “The head office is in London – not my problem.” We had ONE drink in the first hour of a bottomless brunch, the food arrived cold, and the staff were consistently rude. Totally unacceptable service, poor hygiene, and a complete lack of professionalism. Would not return and don’t recommend.

Lovely welcome from the bar person as we arrived. Just popped in out of the rain and was immediately informed of the two for one offer on. Great choice of cocktails and usual bar drinks menu. Huge pub so on a wk end I can imagine it would be quite a place to add to the crawl round town and a great spot for big groups.

Team away day and ended up here. Food was good and plentiful. I had the chilli loved fries and was more than enough on the plate. Menu had, pizza, gyros, burgers and different loaded fries. Live music on and we were told before we ordered incase we all wanted somewhere quiet. Great food, great different Ales and if you're after a night out with Live music, would highly recommend.

The staff at HOS were absolutely wonderful and made a special effort to make sure everyone in the large 30 people party were happy. They went above and beyond for us and I recommend them as a venue for any celebration! The team are incredible and helped make everything easy.

Staff fantastic very friendly. Food not so good had chicken gyros and fries chicken was extremely dry. Partner had chicken salad tiny pieces of chicken yet again very dry left 90percent of it . I certainly would go for a drink here again but definitely not food.

What a great place! The food was really good and I found it hard to choose from such an amazing selection of beer. The bar staff, Louise, helped me choose and was a great recommendation. She was funny and made the visit more than worth it. Really enjoyed my visit and I will definitely go again.

Whenever I am in town and want to meet up with someone for a drink, I always recommend Head of Steam. Classic pub feel but still feels like a modern establishment. Staff have always been very friendly and quick to serve. They have a great selection of beer and cider which allows me to try something different every time. These two things keep me coming back time and time again, highly recommend dropping by for a drink.

What a gem of a pub located in Cardiff Bay. A traditional old school pub with pictures of the docks and Cardiff from yester years. Great selection of tasty beers. Friendly staff that assisted in drink selections as well as telling us about the venue and its recently celebrated 160th year history. If you are looking for a traditional pub experience with great value, defo worth a visit.

Never used to come to the Packet but since the new management has taken over, it has become a bit of a local for us! Tracey and her team cannot do enough for us when visiting. The atmosphere was insane on our last visit - the live singer was phenomenal. Great deals on bottle beers and shots! Worth it for an authentic drink in the bay with character and charm!

I visited the Packet on a Monday afternoon. It made a nice change from all the (Mostly) big name places to eat in the Bay. A 160 year old traditional pub with a good selection of drinks, friendly chatty staff, and a small outside garden, only a few minutes walk from the main bay area. If you are looking for a traditional drinking pub in the bay area, away from the hustle and bustle of the big restaurants in the bay, I would strongly recommend this Pub.

A traditional pub that dates back 180 years to when Cardiff Docks were just starting off. It’s been remodelled over the years but still retains that proper pub feel. More than that - the beer is first class and the staff - led by the landlady - are always friendly and cheerful making you feel that serving you is a pleasure. A five star rating doesn’t do it justice!!

Didn't have food so no comment. Came down for a show at the millennium center poped in for a drink and a wee. Talked to the nice lady before hand, loved her and came back to see the nice lady after the show. I now know shes the Landlady and when I offered to buy her a drink she said to give it to the staff. Lush pub, lush atmosphere, lush staff, and as a barmaid myself a fluffing lush boss. Loves it!!!!!

Lovely traditional style pub playing a great play list. We visited during a downpour afternoon midweek, so it was quiet but great vibe. Has screens up subtly places for those interested in the sports but doesn't have a sports bar vibe. Really liked it and great prices too.

Lovely pint of SA at this welcoming locals pub. Good for watching sport. Less expensive than some of the other bay pubs and a nicer atmosphere. Well worth popping in.

The food is lovely and if you enjoy the street food vendors of Cardiff then it’s a great spot to support them. However, and this is a big however, the so called “owner” (the guy who seats you) is so awful at customer service. He is abrasive and has left a bad taste in our mouths about being at the venue. Again, the food traders saved the evening so we hope they are being paid fairly. The night (albeit a 6 nations night) started at 7:30 and the place was understandably busy. We had booked a table (this was sold as a “6 nations table) for 4 people to watch the game. The game in which only 2 people could watch as the seating was tucked away in the corner of the venue with one small tv facing just 2 of the table. How this is acceptable I don’t know? When we asked to move the answer simply was you booked a table, this is a table, and if we didn’t like it there were pubs called The Albany and The Royal George we could go to. Frankly, as someone who has been to these places they are much more accommodating and nicer places to drink with better quality beverages too. Save your money and only support business who want your custom. By the sounds of the so called owner those places are The Albany and the royal George!

Ideal if you want to eat but not sure what! There are multiple vendors so lots to pick from and they always change so you’ll never get bored of having the same thing when you go there. Fairly cheap drinks as well because it is in a student area

Incredible! Absolutely delicious food at a good price - what's not to like! The vendors seem to change often, but if you get there and the nduja hot honey chicken is there then it's an absolute 10/10! Delicious!

Had 4 steak and mash from Fire & Flank. Absolutely amazing mashed potato and steak and the steak was cooked perfectly. 5 star At the same time, ordered the New York buffalo sandwich From Ychafi. Again, this sandwich was pretty awesome and tasty. 5 Star The reason I didn’t order from Sin Nombra is I observed whilst they’re not busy the two chefs are wearing hoodies Which is not necessarily a bad thing, but in my opinion doesn’t look good in the kitchen. Also observed when not cooking Both chefs were on their phones And also the one without the glasses and looks younger With dark hair was constantly scratches his face. 2 Star

Ultimately super surprised with this place. Huge bar, masses of space to eat, friendly informative staff and superb food. Big place but tucked away. Very impressed. Amazing selection of food from vegan to meat covered chips. Lunch with beer was the best I've had in a long while. Definitely be back again very soon.

I rarely write reviews but the Acme burgers are like crack cant get enough lovely guy serving that stand. Decent cocktails aswell, good atmosphere. My fav bartender was the man with the long hair not sure if the name but big up this place.

Id Give this place a solid 4.5 out of 5. Has been on my list of places to go for a while, so I took the opportunity to organise a bro date here. Atmosphere was awesome. Went on a Friday night and to fill up such a big space outside of the centre was quite impressive, but at no point felt like I was rubbing shoulders with strangers. Bit of a pale Ale snob myself and they indeed offered me with a Great choice of Local pale ales and beers. When I say that, I mean ACTUALLY FROM CARDIFF 🤯. Staff were chatty, and knew their stuff about the products they sold. 5/5 as far as the bar goes. Also ate here, having the 2 meats, 2 sides option at the texas bbq joint here. Slightly pricey, but I was willing to splash for a good BBQ feast. It looked great and the pickles were pretty awesome, but I could only give this a 4/5 I'm afraid. Bbq sauce was a bit sickly sweet, and this is personal preference obviously, but the crinkly fries just reminded me of McCains microwave chips (but were cooked to perfection). It was good, but I can't help feeling like it fell into the realm of average. Still worth the money though. Overall worth a visit, expecially for drinks. I feel like most people would give this a 5 across the board, I'm just pedantic. I'll definitely be visiting again though, that says enough.

Disappointed in myself for failing to spot or appreciate the wonderful Kings Road Yard in Pontcanna where @pipes brewery is also located. Great vibe, full of locals of all ages, with the love of community and locally brewed beer. On a Saturday afternoon, after an excellent lunch at Tom Simmons, to sit in the late summer sunshine with a pint of Pipes American IPA takes some beating. Simply glorious.

Loved this little gem! The beer was great, their Lupulin pale was the highlight of our whole trip (including the fact that we went to Bristol craft beer festival afterwards!). The lady serving was very friendly and it's a great venue with other little independent businesses in the alley way. Nice chill place to spend the afternoon

This is a great little spot. We visited on a winter’s afternoon. Unfortunately there was only one fire brazier out as it was pretty cold but that didn’t stop us from enjoying the beer and hot mulled cider from this micro brewery. Great atmosphere down the whole alleyway. Food stalls here are also tops.

Brilliant beer! There's always a great selection in bottle to take out. Be sure to check out what's on tap every Friday 4pm - 9pm and the first Saturday of the month they are open all day. Great atmosphere! Well worth venturing off the beaten track for a visit if you're in town.

An absolute gem of a micro brewery, a great tasting range with occassional experimental brews. All served by a great team in a great location.

I really enjoyed this place,a very friendly atmosphere, youngsters welcome before 9pm. I attended a family meal with 3 generation attending. The menu is varied to suit all ages and prices are reasonable. I found the food excellent as did everyone at our table. You can download the app, order and pay from it then it's delivered to your table. I will definitely recommend trying it.

Terrible smell of urine and BO inside! Food nothing like what I had ordered. Everyone smoking and vaping in the non smoking outside space. One of the worst pubs I have been too in 40 years. No one cared Avoid if possible. Worst basic real ale beer choice than in my Wetherspoons local in Essex but was cheaper and OK quality. It was quick but definitely get what you pay for.

Food was quick but seemed reheated and they had a notice by the bar about no eggs, but none on tables where we can order direct. There are loads of shops around to get eggs and this is not the first time they have run out apparently. Quite disappointing!

The poor barmaid was rushed off her feet. Too many people waiting too long. The beer wasn't great, and the guest ales were better in the Central. No issues with the server, she was excellent

The way my disabled girlfriend was made to walk home for 10 minutes and come back to get her ID that she forgot - by your barman with glasses. So she walks home comes back to her pint and he doesn’t even bother to check her ID at all so he just wanted her to vanish momentarily and as I’m writing this he never came back. She is a person of colour, clearly over the age of 18, and sending people away with no care to check if they can even be there just indicates that age verification is more of an exercise of power than a practical tool to prevent visible minors from drinking underage. Walking all the way the other end of city road and back just for nobody to really care if she had it or not. Calm down. Never had an experience this controlling here before and other staff are alright, been a semi regular for long time. But this was beyond knowing she could have came out and came back in and had nobody notice because nobody is that invested in the process

Vile experience here. I got attacked by a woman who threw a glass at my head but I was the only one kicked out for ‘not reporting it’ soon enough (maybe because I was in shock!!!) They also said they were kicking me out for being on drugs never done drugs in my life so that is CRAZY! I told them to look on the camera to see the woman attacking me completely unprovoked and they refused to do so which is shocking. I’ve visited this pub for years and after this experienced I cried my eyes out for hours I can’t believe how vile this treatment was. Drinks are fine but DO NOT GO HERE if you want to be treated like an actual human.

Walkabout Bottomless Brunch – A Complete Shambles I booked Walkabout’s bottomless brunch expecting a fun afternoon with good food and flowing drinks, but it turned into a complete mess. Service was painfully slow, food was poor, and staff repeatedly blamed the situation on being “short-staffed.” That excuse didn’t hold up when we could clearly see staff spending time on personal chats and phone breaks instead of serving customers. When I asked to speak to a manager, he promised to bring over jugs of drinks (which wasn’t what we asked for) but even that promise never happened. It summed up the whole experience — empty promises, poor service, and no accountability. This brunch felt more like endless waiting than anything “bottomless.” Definitely not worth the money and I would not recommend it to anyone.

We did bottomless brunch and Mo was our server, he was fantastic! We were never without a drink and always had the next one on order which is what you want from a bottomless. He was really friendly and a good laugh, made our day! He was running between a few tables but we all had excellent service! Thank you!!

Great venue to host a private party, management and staff (Beth, Mo & Matthew) were fantastic and went out of their way to ensure we had a great time. Highly recommend

We went to Walkabout for brunch yesterday afternoon. The service from start to finish was amazing. We couldnt thank Katie enough for the polite, friendly service she provided during our visit. We didn't feel rushed and the drinks kept coming. Comparing it to other experiences elsewhere, we would definitely recommend walkabout for brunch as service elsewhere wasn't anywhere near as good.

Aeodan was absolutely amazing. He served us for our bottomless brunch and he made our day. To have someone so attentive and so interactive, even on a Saturday night was completely unexpected. I am a vegetarian and he made sure that when I asked for a meat burger to be vege (completely my fault). He made sure the kitchen knew and was aware, I can’t recommend a place and a server enough, Aeodan was amazing, needs a pay rise!!

Really Friendly & Helpful staff who gave service with a smile, a broad menu with lots of choice, Quick service despite the current pandemic restrictions in place. Staff helped me with the App so I could order and receive the discounts. Reasonable prices, Plenty of Covid guidance in place - great PR with being able to choose music for the Bar, the interactive quiz was good idea too. Clean Venue & Upon entry Track, Trace & only required information requested. Friendly Atmosphere and Excellent Customer Service from Entry Point to Exit - Screens clearly visible too.
