Located in central Cardiff, The Potted Pig offers a unique dining experience in former bank vaults. The restaurant serves modern British cuisine with French and New York influences, constantly evolving its menu to create carefully crafted dishes.
Absolutely fantastic. This is my third time visiting, once for evening meal and twice for roast, this time we tried the sharing roast with lamb, pork and beef. The lamb fell apart, the pork was tender and the beef was just the right amount of pink. Crisp potatoes, perfectly cooked veg, love that it includes cauliflower cheese as most places this is an additional side you have to pay extra for! We got there early so got to enjoy the calm moments before it got busy. Such a beautiful venue, wonderful attentive staff, and probably one of the best roasts iv had. A firm favourite that I will always return to when I visit Cardiff for a weekend.

Deliciouus! And the atmosphere is also very nice - very elegant decorations. I loved the small pig details. 😜 But I found it to be a bit too cold. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Elena Y — Google review
Great experience last night. The staff was friendly and engaging while the manager was amazing at helping to find the right wine to go with our mains. We ordered from the specials menu and the regular menu and were not disappointed. Great flavour with good sized portions. We weren’t rushed at all and had a lovely time. Thank you for a lovely night! Try the sticky toffee pudding!!

Went here for our wedding anniversary, and we will definitely be back the next time we're in Cardiff. Everything we ordered was delicious, the staff were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was perfect.
Chrys M — Google review
What a gem! My wife and I enjoyed the signature starter, potted pig, Ox Cheek Tagliatelle and Tender Lamb Shoulder with a nice Spanish Rioja. The manager sat us in a romantic corner and made us feel special by stopping at our table several times to check on us.
Mike P — Google review
Nice and warm welcome. Nice and almost relaxing atmosphere. Food was really great. Michelin "recognized" with a plaque outside for a reason. Great value for money and truly recommendable.
S X — Google review
The mains were not great. My wife's ravioli was barely warm and had to send it back to heat it up but didn't come back much better. My monkfish and cod linguine was also not hot enough and I was hunting for the cod so didn't think it was worth the price. My burrata starter was good but my wife found her terrine starter dry. Overall we were disappointed.

Delicious food in great company! As French people, we are « picky » on food (everybody knows that🤣) but we were really surprised to find this amazing place that we highly recommend. If you visit Cardiff, don’t miss it! 😉

Tapas bar

Cocktail bar
Bar 44 Cardiff is a stylish bar-restaurant located near the Millennium Stadium, offering a refined selection of Spanish tapas. The venue features decorative Spanish elements and vintage Tio Pepe adverts, creating an elegant atmosphere. The menu includes daily-changing one-pots and traditional dishes like Galician fish stew and slow-cooked meat-and-chickpea concoction cocido.
We had an excellent meal here and it couldn’t be improved. Each dish was amazing and not too pricey, with quality ingredients. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and happy to answer any questions. The atmosphere was warm and cosy - couldn’t recommend enough.
Tharani A — Google review
The most perfect way to spend an early evening or lunch. The 3 tapas and a drink for £22 offer is outstanding value for the quality of food you get. I’ve been all over Spain and the U.K. and other than in very few Spanish places, it has to be the best tortilla I’ve had. Runny and gooey like it’s meant to be, not stone cold and dry like a lot of U.K. places. The chicken was so soft and tender. Machego with honey.. need I say more. My only criticism is they might want to invest in some kind of sound proofing as it does get very noisy. Otherwise definitely coming back!
Victoria P — Google review
Loved the authentic Spanish tapas here. Each dish felt thoughtfully crafted, and the flavors reminded me of being in Spain. The staff were knowledgeable about the wines — a fantastic dining experience overall.
Mark — Google review
A fantastic tapas bar/restaurant! We opted for the early evening menu which offers a drink and 3 tapas for £24 which we found to be excellent value. We enjoyed every dish and also the red berry sangria very much. Portion sizes were generous for tapas at the price point. We could easily have ordered more but decided to go for dessert, both of which were again, excellent. Very tasty food. If we return to Cardiff we will definitely try the sherry flight tastings which also looked good value! In short - lovely surroundings, friendly staff, excellent food and a great choice of dishes. Highly recommend.
Emma H — Google review
We arrived without and booking and were welcomed by Gemma, who was really accommodating and offered us a big table even though it was a Saturday evening. We ended up taking one for two as it was quieter, but the flexiblity already made a really good impression. Gemma knew the menu inside out and made exellent recommendation on both food and drink. This was the type of service you normally only get in the US. Every dish was amazing (shrimps, fish, anchovy cesar salad, artichoke, blue cheese and Basque Cheese cake) and the house sherry and brandy excellent. This is the best dinner I have had this year. I would actually come to Cardiff to eat here agin, The food and drink is better than Spain!

Gorgeous food, amazing service Would recommend the tuna belly! Will be coming back for cocktails

Very good food with a decent range of dishes. Perfect for a family meal after graduation in a corner space. We had a mix of meat and seafood, couldn't fault anything. Service very good without being in your face. We ate reasonably early, not the busiest time.

Absolutely first class tapas. Food delicious and great service. Highly recommended. The deserts and sweet sherry's a real revelation.

Pub
The Conway is a trendy pub that offers a daily blackboard menu featuring modern Welsh and European cuisine. The revamped interior resembles a cozy living room with comfortable seating and plenty of books. The menu showcases fresh twists on classic dishes such as roasted fish with chorizo, pork and apricot sausage rolls, and mushroom risotto. This gastro pub boasts a decent selection of beers and ales on tap, along with good service and inventive offerings like roasted salmon with beetroot.
Great place! Friendly and kind staff. Great food quality. We felt very comfortable eating inside. There are some tables outside too. We had the chorizo scotch egg(with roasted garlic alioli), fish and chips and focaccia BLT. Not expensive at all. Highly recommendable!
Alejandro B — Google review
Four of us visited in March and 12 of us in April, for lunch and a couple of pints. Service and food were excellent on both occasions. Really good pub food, exceptionally friendly staff and a casual, warm feel to the place. The recent re-opening, refurbishment and the cheerful, obliging new manager make the Conway a great community pub. Thank you! We all enjoyed and are planning a return trip.
Chris G — Google review
The Conwy has recently been taken over, it is still set out as a lovely little family restaurant. Prices are pretty standard, staff very attentive and friendly, well presented, food really tasty and fresh veg used, lovely atmosphere. Lovely Sunday lunch. I will be going again when next in Cardiff, you should give it a try, I don't think you will be disappointed.
Sue P — Google review
Good pub food - both the steak and the lamb were nice dishes. Slightly disappointing wine offering (although good beer selection) and the service was efficient although they were rushed off their feet! Dog friendly, which is a plus.
David “ — Google review
Recently reopened, had a good sunday sirloin of beef roast served in comfortable surroundings.

Lovely pub, laid out really well with a nice long bar. Great choice of beers and ciders. Nice outside seating at the front. Service friendly and quick.

Really lovely to sit outside and enjoy a sunny evening in leafy Pontcanna- good food
Craig O — Google review
Lovely place but very limited vegan options on the menu. Only one starter and one main labelled vegan on the menu. Staff were very nice and swrvice qas quick. Had the hummus starter. Could have done with much more caramelised onion and a bit less tahini. The rest of the group enjoyed their food much more but I personally won't rush back.

Heaneys Restaurant is a trendy establishment offering refined dishes and evening tasting menus, along with an assortment of wines and cocktails. Situated in the former location of Arbennig, this Kickstarter-funded diner is the brainchild of Great British Menu finalist Tommy Heaney.
Delicious. A fine dining restaurant with great service. Did the tasting menu with wine pairing. pretty generous with the wine too. Food was delicious. bartender made a cocktail tailored to my taste.
Debbie T — Google review
My girl and I had a tremendous birthday lunch comprising the Short Taster 7/8 course menu - we couldn't do the wine pairing as we were driving (cue violins). Each course was a delight - small plates as per a taster menu, each was packed full of flavour, impeccably cooked and an exciting experience. It's difficult to pick favourites so I won't - it was all fantastic. I thought the lamb dish needed more beetroot. The service was faultless, as is the decor. I'd prefer jazz on the playlist, but that's just a personal preference. Worth every penny.
Jeffrey C — Google review
We enjoyed an amazing 10-course tasting menu at this restaurant last Saturday afternoon. I can’t believe we had not been to this restaurant before this. Impeccable service and exquisite food! I was a marmite hater but the marmite butter was excellent. I highly recommend this place.
Nuhu G — Google review
We had a really excellent meal at Heaney's ahead of the rugby. We had the shorter tasting menu and each element was absolutely delicious. One of the best meals we've had in a while, and that's from two London foodies.
SueH — Google review
“I had an absolutely amazing experience at Heaney’s. The tasting menu blew my mind, and the staff and service were just outstanding. Huge thanks and appreciation for everything they do!” Thank you for a great night x
Sarah B — Google review
This was an amazing find and I highly recommend to others! The food, service and atmosphere were all worthy of 1 Michelin star. Very surprised they hadn’t already got one, but hopefully it’s their time soon. The tasting menu and wine pairing was carefully considered, and well matched. The attention to detail throughout was well designed. Thank you for an amazing experience!
K D — Google review
Always wanted to go to Heaneys, and the £35 5 course set lunch menu deal gave us the opportunity (deal was even available on a Saturday). Fair to say it did not disappoint. Absolutely sublime from start to finish and an incredible culinary masterclass. Potato terrine and ox cheek were particular highlights but all of it was 10/10. If you get the chance to go, don’t think twice - it takes the dining experience to another level
Joseff B — Google review
Came here for our 1st wedding anniversary. Excellent restaurant with Michelin star quality food and service. We had the long tasting menu and each course was delicious. My wife is lactose intolerant and they accommodated to her needs with no issues. It is pricey but that is to be expected for the quality of food. Courses were weighted towards fish so non fish lovers would struggle with the tasting menu. But having said that I'm not a huge fan of fish but I enjoyed every course. Would definitely return again for a special occasion. I would expect this restaurant to be awarded a Michelin star in the near future.

The Society Standard is a Bristol-originating mini chain that serves bright, hipster industrial cuisine in buildings that would otherwise be left unused. The look is reminiscent of old school desks and designer graffiti, with Vegans and vegetarians catered for as well as carnivores. The burger was served medium but lacked flavour and the cauliflower cheese was one of the best I've had.
Great place for a Sunday Roast on Whitchurch Rd (Veggie Option -Seitan, cauliflower cheese, yorkshire pudding & mushroom gravy) cool vibe, nice staff. I’ll be back to try the brunch at some point!
Cardiffgirl _ — Google review
From first impressions the place from the outside looks great, family friendly and inviting, the decoration is cosy, clean and relaxing. The food I would say was average to good which was a bit of a surprise but still a very nice Sunday lunch.
Matteo L — Google review
Decent atmosphere, reasonable food and average price. The food is enjoyable, but nothing special. The burger wasn't offered medium rare, but was by no means dry. Unfortunately there is nothing that makes this place stand out from my first visit. I've heard good things about the roast, but that'll be another time I suspect.
Young Y — Google review
Came here on a Sunday so didn’t get to try the notorious steak that people had been raving about but that being said they give above standard portions. I had the roast beef which was soft juicy and tender I will also give a special mention to their pickled cabbage (was absolutely amazing 😉) my only negatives is that the Yorkshire was a little bit doughy and cauliflower cheese a little bit too hard for my liking. So to wrap this up this place is exactly what it’s name is a great atmosphere and up to Society’s standard. 4.5 🌟
Nathan P — Google review
Great atmosphere & friendly staff. They tend to be fairly busy so I would recommend booking just in case. The food and drinks are nice, however you'll get more bang for your buck from other bars/restaurants down the road. Overall enjoyable experience but if you're going out for drinks there are better and cheaper options out there.
Garin D — Google review
I guess this is trying to be a hipsters bar/restaurant with school chairs and retro finishing. The bar offers mad dog brewery offerings but not any draught lagers. It's a take a number and order at the bar kinda place. The food served on bread boards and I half expected the drinks to be served in jam jars but I think they drew the line at that! Food however was good. Mac and cheese was tasty, others had mussels and chicken which went down well. Nice desserts and all in all great value for money. You wouldn't hang about on the hard school chairs mind but if you want cosy go to harvesters.. If your under 30 and have a beard then this is for you...
Joe R — Google review
Staff are friendly and very helpful, my Sunday lunch was huge and full of lots of vegetables, however the sirloin beef was tough, chewy and fatty. The lemon tart had a wonderful pastry and a lemony filling.
Shilpa D — Google review
One of the best buttermilk fried chicken burgers I've ever had! Juicy insides and crunchy coating with no greasiness. Great value for money and they do good cocktails too.

The Heathcock is a charming restaurant located in the enchanting area of Llandaff in Cardiff. The restaurant takes pride in using locally sourced ingredients, offering a diverse and rich culinary experience. Their menu changes daily to ensure fresh and seasonal dishes that are best enjoyed through their sharing plates. The restaurant has been praised for its delicious food, making it a must-visit dining spot in the Welsh capital.
Me and my partner visited for the first time yesterday after a from a friend! The seemingly typical British pub on first appearance truly dazzled us! The restaurant was quiet and well laid out, the staff were extremely attentive, well mannered and helpful.. and the food …we had the tasting menu and it was stunning! The chef seriously knows how to put flavours on a plate!! Will definitely come again 👏🏻
Joshua E — Google review
This is a very good place. I went there with no booking-and was seated in the bar area as the restaurant was full (a good sign). I was able to choose from the full menu which was fantastic. I had a main course-rabbit in bacon with a small rabbit pie and a side dish. It was totally delicious. This place on a Wednesday seemed to be doing really really well-like its sister restaurants I imagine in Bristol and Vale of Glamorgan (which I’ve been to twice-fantastic). Definitely want to return to.
Robert S — Google review
The food was outstanding — I had a three-course meal, and each dish brought something different, with bold flavours and clear attention to quality. It was obvious that real care had gone into both the ingredients and the preparation. The service was faultless. Staff were attentive without being intrusive, and the pace of the meal felt calm and unhurried. While some people have mentioned the wait between courses, I actually appreciated it — it gave me time to enjoy each dish properly and made the whole experience feel more considered. The only real disappointment was the lavatories. They were in poor condition and in need of a proper refurbishment, which felt out of step with the otherwise high standards throughout the restaurant. That said, this is somewhere I’ll absolutely be recommending to friends and family, and I’ll definitely return for a special occasion. A fantastic meal, thoughtful service, and a lovely atmosphere — just let down by one detail that hopefully won’t be overlooked for much longer.
C J — Google review
The food here was amazing! So deserving of their recognition and I was super impressed by the service. They were highly considerate of allergies/dietary restrictions and had a good selection when it came to wine etc. The prices are reasonable, and as such super good value. I can highly recommend visiting this place!
K D — Google review
Casual atmosphere with perfectly seasoned and prepared first course and mains. The focaccia was delicious and the strawberry soufflé was to die for!! We live in London and can easily say it was one of the best meals we’ve had in the UK!

Greatly enjoyed the tasting menu. Service, atmosphere and food were all fantastic. Very accommodating as we had some special dietary requirements. Faultless evening. Make sure you're good and hungry before you go as the portions are generous for a tasting menu. The menu included welcome drinks and no supplements for any items so overall was pleasingly good value for money. Will definitely come again.

We booked for Sunday dinner today. Pub is lovely and very clean. Staff were very friendly. They sat us down in the dining area which was also really nice. We ordered a trio of meats roast dinner and the duo of beef dinner. Both meals were out of this world. This is our first time booking and we will 100% be back again. I will be highly recommending this place to friends and family. We were served by Eva and Maddie who were extremely friendly and super helpful. Our chefs were also Dan and Laura. Thank you all. 10/10.

Location was quiet and tucked away which was nice. Decor inside it’s quirky but we loved it, floral wall paper etc. dining area got busy as time went on which showed it was popular. Sunday lunch was delicious, plenty of gravy and vegetables to go with cooked to perfection meats which fell apart especially the beef. Would definitely come back to try other menu options. Recommend Sunday lunch 😄

Although there should have been us plus 4 others we were told, the 4 didn't turn up, they missed an amazing 2 hours. Our host was a young guy called Seb, he was absolutely great. Not know what to expect, he went through the plan and explained the beers, what they make on site, what they bring in, how the beers are made, history and you are brought 8 thirds to try in order. Time to discuss each one, the colour, the taste, the origin. He was very knowledgeable and really made a great experience, would recommend this masterclass.

Visited with our dogs. Very dog friendly. Ale and food were fabulous. Thanks to the chef for popping out to ask if our meals were ok. Bar staff really friendly and knowledgeable. Awesome .

First of all came in and it was very friendly service. Ordered boneless chicken strips and when it’s came out it was the bone chicken wings. I went up to the waiter to say about this and he sighted not very nice about it even though it was their mistake. When the boneless chicken strips finally arrived they were dripping with water and falling apart. Overall terrible food and service won’t come again.

We hired a space here for my 30th birthday and it was perfect! We had exclusive use of the canope area and were able to decorate the space and play our own playlist, which made the event feel really personal and fun. The staff were absolutely lovely and made sure everything ran smoothly. The food was great, and the beer/cocktails kept everyone happy. Highly recommend this venue for anyone thinking of hiring a space for a party or event (plus the doggos can join in). A special mention to Zechariah who helped the vision materialise by meeting with me beforehand and corresponding to my 100 emails and questions. Super star!

Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Came here for lunch this afternoon with my wife, dog and baby daughter. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. The bar staff were lovely, offering a high chair for the little one and even some dog biscuits for our lab! The staff were also very knowledgeable about their drinks and even gave my wife a free sample to try! (Which was delicious). The food was affordable and great portion sizes. The fish finger sandwich particularly went down an absolute treat! Thanks guys!

Very disappointing experience at the Brewhouse for Father's day. We were sat down at our table and we ordered our drinks which were supposed to include a free pint of beer and single shot of whisky. The waiter told us that is was only half a pint and walked off. We had to go to the counter and show the actual advert, they reluctantly agreed. Our drinks arrived and no whisky. We called them back over and eventually the whisky arrived. The whole situation appeared intentional to not give the free drinks. The food arrived relatively quickly and we were again disappointed (photo added), there was a small portion of vegetables and even less gravy. They refused to add more vegetables and reluctantly brought over a small additional portion of gravy. Before we could ask for any sauces, they walked off again. I then had to go and ask for them. I wouldn't have minded if it had been very busy, it wasn't at all. We've been here for the last 4 father's days, unfortunately it will be our last.

I've been coming here for decades, when it was the Mochyn Du - only one of two pubs that served Leffé on draught.. There's always a friendly crowd here in large and spacious in and outdoor areas. My visit on 20/6/25 was distasteful as the queue was long, but people were getting served at a good pace, however; when I got served at 5.55, the pleasant young lady said the 6pm happy hour had finished!? There were other customers frustrated by this too. We left early due to this disappointment.

I visited the Brewery and Kitchen in Sophia Gardens with a friend last month, on a busy Saturday, and had a wonderful, delicious meal at a very good price. Great atmosphere. The staff, led by Amy, were helpful and delightful. I had a beef burger laced with a delicious 'jam', one which Amy's grandmother makes at home. And the sweets were fabulous. I would thoroughly recommend a visit... and ask Amy about the jam!

Asador 44 Spanish Grill & Wine House is a cozy and modern restaurant located in the heart of Cardiff, offering a contemporary take on traditional Spanish cuisine. Inspired by the Basque Country's culinary traditions, the restaurant specializes in grilling high-quality, locally sourced produce and expertly aged meats over open flames. The warm and inviting interior features rustic wooden tones and an open kitchen where diners can watch the chefs at work.
Could not recommend this place enough. We went for my brother’s graduation, and had the most fantastic meal. The staff were brilliant, the service was flawless - they were helpful and gave great suggestions. The food was absolutely delicious. We tried a load of the ‘snacks’ - everything was great, and really recommend the bread with sobresada butter. Then had the lamb and suckling pig sharing platters which were to die for. The meat was tasty, and pull-apart. We also had a number of sides which were fantastic - the artichokes, leek gratin, etc. Brilliant atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone in Cardiff!

Excellent restaurant with some amazing food. Unfortunately the Spanish sirloin was not the best, very chewy & fatty. Everything else was great though & staff were very friendly

A solid restaurant. The 600g sirloin was a little tough for being served medium rare. The lamb shoulder was absolutely delicious! Our drinks order was lost so waited around half an hour for drinks. The front of house team were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed.

Great service only surpassed by the quality of the food. Had the sharing lamb as a main , with prawn croquettes and sourdough to start. The tables are spaced out, the service not intrusive and the general atmosphere was good. Look forward to eating there again.

Living in Spain, it is hard to try Spanish restaurants abroad but asador44 is a great exception. Food has quality and is tasty, the service is good and the wine list acceptable offering Spanish references only including pleasant surprises as Zarate, José Gil, Lopez de Heredia, Envínate or Luis Pérez wines. To my mind, one of the best restaurants in Cardiff

We recently visited Asador44 for our Wedding Anniversary. We have dined at Asador a number of times and it never disappoints. The atmosphere and décor is warm and welcoming, as are the staff. James who served us was polite and knowledgeable about the menu. On previous occasions we have had the stunning steak dishes, supplied by a favourite beef supplier we use and are perfectly cooked on an open asador flame grill. On this occasion, we opted for different dishes. My wife had a favourite of ours Pulpo a la Gallega whilst I had the Confit duck leg with aged rice. Both dishes were a pleasure on the eye and tasted delicious, accompanied by a bottle of the house white wine, which was enjoyable. We finished off with the Chocolate tart and ice cream, which was incredibly rich and indulgent. As ever, dining at Asador44 is always a pleasure and we cannot wait to dine there again.

Went here for a birthday dinner and had the last spot for reservation. Finding parking was a nightmare (not the restaurant's fault, obviously) but the staff made every effort to accommodate us despite arriving slightly late. The food was served promptly, was piping hot and delicious, full of flavour! Ended the evening with a nice little surprise- 44% off the bill at the roll of a dice! (They had a promotion going in January) 10/10 would recommend!

Went for a night out with a few friends who had been before to Asador. The food variety, restaurant layout and the look a feel were all very good. The service was excellent and the food was good but be prepared to pay for it, as it’s not a cheap night out and I am not absolutely convinced the food is worth the price. Would I go again, probably yes but it would be only to go with friends at their request, but I wouldn’t say no. The bill was £400 between 4 of us with 1 bottle of wine in that.

Bill's Cardiff Central Restaurant is a contemporary European chain offering separate breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch, and dinner menus. The restaurant provides a great British dining experience with options for gluten-free lunches such as grilled rump steak, Bills fish pie, Nduja meatballs, and gluten-free Burrata. Additionally, the restaurant offers pet-friendly seating both indoors and outdoors with a special dog menu featuring pooch wine and snacks. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available at this charming location in Cardiff Bay.
We received outstanding service from our server Tilly, and all the staff who assisted with bringing food to our table. Everyone was friendly and professional. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! The flavors and seasonings were balanced, portions were just right and the presentation of each dish was spot on. I made a request to have the ice cream separate for my brownie dessert which is why it is plated as it is in the picture. I loved it! We also ordered a Passionfruit Martini and it was balanced, not too strong and not too sweet. We chose this restaurant because of the wide range of options so that everyone in my family could order something that would suit them. We ordered the seafood sharer, calamari, fries, hamburgers, fish pie, passionfruit martini, Americano coffee, ice cream, and a brownie.

What a pleasant surprise! I came with 3 colleagues around 8:40pm on a Thursday night for dinner and we were blown away by Bills. Their menu is a lot more extensive than we all thought and the vibe and decor were just so cute! We were seated right away near the bar area and decided to order family style. Here’s a list of everything: Ribbed corn (10/10) Classic sharer (9.5/10), dumplings were okay, sauce made it better Duck curry (7.5/10), good but our least favorite Sweet potato fries (8/10) Garlic greens (8.5/10) Wings on their specials menu (11/10), their ranch is out of this worlddd, not sure what they put in it but we dipped everything in it and asked for more. We stayed past closing and they didn’t rush us out at all. There were other customers still enjoying their meals and we were so pleasantly surprised. This is a must go for future visits. In total the bill was under 100£

Great service at Bill’s from the moment we arrived. After a disappointing service at a different restaurant this was a breath of fresh air. Went to Bill's for brunch with the girls (4 adults, 2 children.) Due to traffic, many were running late and the servers were very understanding and accommodating. Once everyone arrived, we promptly ordered drinks and food. When food arrived, the server unfortunately tripped and dropped all the adult meals. Thankfully the children's meals were already on the table and the rest of us were happy to wait. The server was absolutely lovely, quickly cleaned up and was very apologetic. It was a complete accident and we didnt mind waiting. The food was worth the wait! It was hot, fresh and absolutely delicous. Considering how busy it was, we didnt have to wait and excessive amount of time (the server even took the main meals off the total bill which was extremely kind of her) All in all, we had a lovely girls brunch and would definitely go back again

Food was lovely. I had the breaded chicken breast with fries, coleslaw, and egg. My mum had a full english breakfast. Didn't like the capers on top though I think it kinda ruined the meal but It's my own fault for forgetting to ask to remove them. Full english breakfast was lovely. They take blue light card which is great if you want a decent discount. It took a very long time for staff to take our order and bring the bill, it was busy though. I'd recommend if its not busy and if you have a blue light card as the price would be worth it for the discount. Suitable for people with food allergies and had no issues with that.

Chapel 1877 is a unique Welsh restaurant and bar located in central Cardiff, housed in a beautifully restored chapel dating back to 1877. The venue seamlessly blends the historic medieval chapel with modern artistic elements and contemporary dining. The interior boasts ornate and exuberant decor inspired by French-Italian designs from the 1800s, creating a sophisticated atmosphere for visitors.
I was really lucky to walk in and manage to get a table without booking. It was pretty packed when I left. I was given a table by the kitchen area where I could see the live view of the chefs cooking our dishes. The restaurant is based in a chapel converted. Really feeling the coziness in the restaurant and romantic for sure in the evening. Food was superb. really enjoyed the scallop pork belly starter although I could see the dish was served in different presentation for other tables - guess the head chef is trying to get the best presentation of that dish. The steak was alright, really rich sauce to go well with the steak. The lamb was lovely cooked, juicy and tender medium rare 😋. Didn’t go with dessert as I was full but my overall experience here was fantastic!! Please do book this place for any celebration or romantic dinner.

The place is amazing, you can feel the history and sort of "mysyery" in every single corner. The food itself is one of the best I've eaten so far in UK. The Chapel will take u in the journey full of excitement straight to haven.

The restaurant preserves the structure of a old Chapel, which gives it a unique atmosphere, with many cozy corners and large interior balconies. The food was excellent in its taste and presentation. The attention was outstanding from the very beginning to the end. Definitely a place to share a romantic dinner or with friends. Located in the center of Cardiff. It is absolutely a "must visit".

Went for lunch in one if the booths. Best to book ad it can be busy and only got 3 booths as well! Refit very tastefully done with most of the original features as well. Good selection on the menu and wine. Everything is done very well. You are looked after by the staff room start to finish. In the city centre at the bottom of Churchill Way. Very easy to get to and only a couple of mins walk to the St David 2 shopping centre. Well worth a visit. This was our first time for a Birthday treat. Will be going again soon.

Came here to try a higher class of dining on a student budget, so booked and ordered from the bar menu. Was quite busy with people coming and going mainly for a drink (Monday night). Staff were friendly enough, although there was no drinks menu which made ordering at the bar quite awkward. Food came quickly, and tasted great, but was maybe a smaller portion than I would have liked for the money - probably due to the level of cooking in fairness... Some slight confusion (that came across as reluctance) when using a voucher code, but overall really lovely food with decent service and a ln interesting location.

We had a lovely breakfast and couldn’t fault the atmosphere. it was warm and welcoming. However, we were a bit disappointed with the table we were given, as it lacked natural light and didn’t feel very pleasant. We asked if we could be moved, but unfortunately, our request wasn’t considered. We had made a reservation, but it got cancelled as we arrived late, we struggled to find the Cosy Club using Google Maps and eventually parked at John Lewis before walking over. It was my husband’s birthday, and while we appreciated the gesture of bringing out a brownie, the way it was done felt a bit unusual. One of the staff members brought the brownie without saying anything or acknowledging the occasion, which caught us off guard, so we initially didn’t accept it. Thankfully, another staff member later returned with the brownie and warmly wished him a happy birthday, a gesture we truly appreciated. Overall, it was a mixed experience.

An absolutely lovely ambience in the building, I love restaurants on the first floor as I really enjoy the view they give you over the street. Service was perfect the staff were absolutely lovely and super friendly. The drinks were lovely and the food was okay but with a couple of issues. A salad we ordered arrived dry as they had forgotten sauce to put on top although this was rectified by staff, I also felt the steak was perhaps a tad overpriced and a little bit tough Although the peppercorn sauce was lovely. Desserts were amazing though.

Absolutely disgraceful attitude from the supervisor yesterday. My partner and a friend of ours went in for some drinks in the afternoon. My partner is unable to have alcohol for a medical reason. He ordered a 0% pink grapefruit gin and the waitress mistakenly ordered the normal gin on the menu. A different server came over with the drinks and we asked her again if it was the 0% gin which she confirmed it was but obviously couldn't be bothered to check. When we got the bill we queried with our original waitress why we'd been charged for the alcoholic version. In fairness to her, mistakes happen and she was incredibly apologetic, owned up immediately, clarified it was the alcoholic version she had put through the till, and went to get her supervisor. The supervisor came over and proceeded to try and blame us for the mistake as we'd asked for the 0% pink gin which she explained they didn't offer, and the servers mostly know it as the Pentire seaweed 0%. When we clarified that we had asked the server to confirm it was a 0% and we were concerned due to a medical issue, she said "I'm sorry you're upset" but still didn't take any accountability. Our original waitress was far more apologetic and professional than the supervisor. Whilst we understand that mistakes happen, considering we had tried to confirm our order twice, we consider it completely unacceptable that the supervisor did not take responsibility for her teams actions, and belittled us for a legitimate medical issue. Having both worked in hospitality previously we do understand that there can be communication issues and basic mistakes, but trying to pass blame on to a customer is beyond the pale. Our service charge and charge for the drink was removed but we do feel this is insufficient considering the supervisors attitude, and we were made to feel like it was our fault. This was especially upsetting as my partner was previously hospitalised after having alcohol and we had to monitor him for the remainder of the day. Safe to say we will not be back to any of the cosy club venues and I recommend anyone with any dietary requirements to be extra vigilant if you decide to visit.

Arrived as a group of four, for our table we had an excellent staff member take our orders, Ruby, they were fun, conversational and welcoming. For starters we ordered Gf Asian buttermilk chicken, the Gf paprika prawns, croquettes. For mains two Gf house burgers (one with pork belly and bacon) and a normal cozy house burger. I was personally amazed by the paprika prawns. The Asian buttermilk chicken was just sensational. Just to mention, the burger bun for the gf burger I did find slightly dry, maybe a little bit more chillie jam on the side? 😁😉 Will be coming again soon for the starters lol x

We visited The Corner House during a August bank holiday weekend trip in Cardiff. Prior to the trip I’d done some research and found that the Corner House’s menu looked rather appealing therefore decided to book a table on the Tuesday evening to dine there. We were slightly early upon arrival from our reserved time however there were plenty of places to sit and we were quickly shown to a downstairs table. The venue looked clean and presentable and there were a few other people in during the time of our visit however it wasn’t overly crowded or busy. The service was good and the waitress was quick to take our orders. Overall, I’d say the service was quick and we didn’t seem to be waiting long between courses. They were also prompt to bring the bill when requested and to take payment which is good. The menu items were a little on the pricy side depending on what you ordered therefore I expected it to be good decent tasty food. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel this was the case although all of the food was nice it didn’t exactly wow me or bowl me over and left me feeling a little disappointed. To start I opted for the Pan Fried King Prawns at £10.50 which were tasteless, didn’t really taste of anything. The main was slightly better, I ordered Signature Duo of Pork at £21.25 and I did request the dish with additional scallops but they didn’t have any which was disappointing. The dish itself however was nice. My partner opted for the ‘dirty burger’ and at £21.50 you’d probably expect it to be something special however upon arrival it looked just like any other burger you’d get from any restaurant nothing overly special about it at all. I opted for dessert and had Toffee Crème Brulee at £9.75, not sure what I was expecting with this, the menu said strawberries and there were no strawberries on the plate I’m guessing they didn’t have any. The portion size seemed rather small considering how much I paid for it and once again wasn’t anything special about it. Unfortunately, I don’t believe the food here lives up to the expectations, although it was nice that’s all I can really say about it. Perhaps if I had chosen different dishes my experience would have been better. However, from what we did eat I believe it to be over priced especially the burger my partner opted for. The price point doesn’t really reflect the taste I expected, I thought it would be food I’d rave about for ages afterwards but it was quickly forgettable. In the end perhaps my expectations were too high on this occasion the menu over delivered but in reality, the food under delivered for me. Once again this is just my opinion but I wouldn’t recommend or visit this venue again.

Absolutely loved this place. I had the port & cheddar mushrooms to start and the chargrilled gammon steak for mains — both were excellent. The steak was grilled to perfection, with just the right amount of seasoning and char, far better than the usual pub standard. Everything felt well balanced, especially the flavours and textures. What really stood out was the attention to detail — not just in the food, but also in the overall service. The staff were kind and professional, and the atmosphere was warm and relaxed. You can tell they care about the customer experience. If you’re looking for a casual but high-quality lunch, this is definitely a spot worth visiting.

I was excited for the menu with all the environmental options and promising vegetarian for me and meat for others in our party. Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment - but they did fix one thing, which was appreciated - and they had two good things: the halloumi fries and chips - so perfect! The burger was over burned, they replaced it and he liked it. But the Mac and cheese was completely bland like they forgot the cheese, - the onion rings were undercooked and oily, and - the pesto asparagus was bitter and tough. They said they’d make me more, but never did and I was tired so didn’t chase it. I did tell them the new burger was good and appreciated. We paid a lot of money for all of that and it was disappointing to send it back. I hope they improve.

Went here for a cocktail as my boyfriend had never had one and wanted to try a Pina colada. Despite it being very quiet we waited ages before anyone came to seat us . We were then told we could have a table and got sat at the bar despite there only being 2 tables with people on them in whole lower floor . We Went for the 2 for 1 cocktail offer . The cocktail cost £16 . I know it was a 2 for 1 offer but £16 for 1 ? Really? Went to an actual cocktail bar and the prices were alot better and better tasting cocktails. The cocktails came out in tiny tumblers which had loads of I've and barely any cocktail in them .

Visited TGI Fridays in Cardiff St David’s and overall it was a bit of a mixed experience. The staff were genuinely lovely, really polite and doing their best, but the service was just far too slow. It felt like they were short-staffed or struggling to keep up with how busy it was, which meant waiting a long time for both food and drinks. When the drinks finally arrived, they weren’t particularly strong, which was disappointing given the price. It almost felt like they were more mixers than anything else. That said, once the food came it definitely made up for it. The burger was packed with flavour, cooked really well, and the ribs were just as good, tender and tasty. Portion sizes were decent too. It’s a shame the service didn’t match the quality of the food. If you don’t mind waiting around and are mainly there for the meal, it’s worth it. But if you’re after quick service and strong cocktails, you might leave a little underwhelmed

Bit underwhelming. Food is expensive for the quality and quantity, the service was poor no wait staff at the entrance to attend to diners who were queing to be led to a table. The free scan and redeem free dessert card on the table was not valid for the uk! Food took a long time to arrive. Portions are smaller than typical Cardiff portions especially Nachos. The tex mex nachos had loads of jalapeños, no sour cream or refried beans (these were vegetarian) and too little salsa and guacamole. Mozzarella sticks were ok. The burger was good though with lots of fries. They charge for water. They have vegetarian and vegan options. Overall bill about £30

First time I’ve been to TGI’s in a few years and I was completely blown away with the standard of service from Sally S. The new menu was outrageous and just as tasty as I remember. 1000% recomend visiting here asap especially if Sally is working! Thanks to all of the TGI team including the chefs! See you soon!

Had honestly a bad experience here. Walked in, got placed upstairs which was unbearable to sit in with the heat we had, you'd think that a place that serves £26 burgers would have AC. Which brings me to the next point, prices are absolutely ridiculous for the "quality" you get. Burned, unseasoned food. Half of the servers didn't wear uniforms so weren't sure who was who. The gentleman who served us spoke extremely quietly and after asking him two or three times to repeat himself, we had to give up and just agree with whatever was being said, which unfortunately may have contributed to wrong items being served to us. The food took around 30 mins to arrive, it was extremely ordinary and unseasoned , not the experience we had in other restaurants. We paid £156 for 4 people. I had used the loo after our visit which was very dirty, you could see wet toilet paper on the floor in the stalls and in general it didn't look like anyone had checked nor cleaned the toilet the entire day (this was about 5pm). Overall a very disappointing experience The only redeeming quality was the cocktails which, when bought as the 2for1 offer, were decently flavoured and priced. Although when you want to buy just 1, for £16 this is an exorbitant price

Expensive for food that wasn't even warm, took more than 30 minutes to arrive! Burgers and a grill platter to share more than 30 minutes. Steak was rubbery and chicken looked as a more pumped up pigeon 🫣 only tasty thing were the chips 😒

Aliyah was our server and she was so friendly and very attentive. She made sure we were satisfied with all our dishes, drinks. and asked if we needed anything which was excellent customer service. I’ve been to the st David’s op location before and our server never came back to ask anything after taking order. Had someone different bring food and then had different person bring bill. No one checked on us and I had to ask if I could have a fork from the person on next table as no silverware on our table. Food was cold then ,as well. So, we haven’t been back since. However, tonight’s service was amazing and food was good. Will definitely be back

The Ivy Cardiff is a trendy and eclectic restaurant that offers a unique dining experience. With its plush and classic interior, it has become known for exceptional service. Located within a 15-minute walk from Cardiff Met University accommodation, it's the perfect spot for a boujee Saturday brunch. The menu features a variety of options including seafood, meat dishes, eggs Benedict, buttermilk pancakes, steaks, and more.
Had a delicious meal here with friends. Mostly attentive service although occasionally waiting to get attention , when it wasn’t too busy really. I found the venue a little echoey.however. The environment was lovely.
Gill J — Google review
The venue is beautifully decorated with a stunning atmosphere — definitely a lovely place to sit and relax. The food was alright, nothing exceptional but enjoyable enough. Service, however, was very slow. It felt like there was only one server handling the entire place, which made the experience a bit frustrating. Staff were doing their best, but the venue really needs more hands on deck during busy periods.

Food was absolutely delicious and the service was exceptional, Solomon our waiter went above and beyond to make my birthday meal special. We visited as a family of 5 on the 26th of July, we all had a variety of different meals which were brought out quickly and efficiently, he was very attentive and he couldn't of been more welcoming, he even gave me a birthday desert with my very own candle. His service was excellent and he really made every effort to make the day memorable. Thank you Solomon and the staff at the ivy for making my day so wonderful. Would highly recommend.

Special & “an Experience” - there is no other way to describe it except to say good value too. The decor is amazing and the service formal but in a wonderful way. It’s not somewhere to dash in and dash out. Rather it’s somewhere to relax and soak up the experience. Arguably, other places can sell better perhaps but none will rival will rival the range of menu options or the experience. The central bar island is a work of art and the venue loaded with wonderfully tended plants and interesting art. Where else can you have Champagne for breakfast?
Ashley M — Google review
Not just dining but a true dining experience. From the way you're greeted to the service at the table, from the main room decor to the very plush toilets, everything is an experience. The Ivy Cardiff is probably one of the slightly more expensive places to eat in the city, but, for a special occasion, it is honestly worth trying. Eating there on a Saturday, it was the main menu only, and to be fair, the drinks are what will probably push your bill up. They do have a very nice looking 2-course set menu for certain days which could be a winner in terms of value, if you're being a bit more cost conscious, I'll happily return to test that out. Fantastic food, table water without even asking (something I always ask for), service was brilliant, and you weren't rushed at all, which added to the experience. We booked in advance, so didn't wait for a table. There may be a wait if you just turn up. Oh, and if it's your birthday (as it was for me!) make sure to mention it as they might give you a little treat (see pictures).

Great brunch menu with lots of substantive lunch items but with some breakfast items. Eggs royale with smoked salmon particularly delicious. Great service and set up - as to be expected. Treat yourself. Careful - toilets are up a decent flight of steps…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Full Version From the moment we walked into The Ivy Cardiff, we were treated wonderfully. We were greeted warmly at the front desk and shown to the bar, where the staff were cheerful, polite, and genuinely welcoming. The drinks were absolutely sensational — perfectly crafted and beautifully presented. Our server, a lovely young lady named Mikyla (apologies if that’s not the correct spelling!), was exceptional. She was friendly, relatable, and extremely knowledgeable, offering fantastic recommendations for which drinks paired best with our dishes. The food was simply exquisite. We started with the zucchini fritti — light, crispy, and perfectly seasoned — alongside the salty sourdough, which complemented it beautifully. For mains, we enjoyed perfectly cooked steak with creamy mash and crisp chips. Dessert was the birthday box, which was as delicious as it was fun. On our second visit, we returned for a light brunch — we couldn’t resist ordering the zucchini and sourdough again, and added the maple pancakes on the side. Everything was just as amazing as before. Every single staff member we met was friendly and professional. Special mention to Jamie, who took the time to chat with us and even opened the door as we left — a truly lovely touch. Thank you to everyone at The Ivy Cardiff for making both visits so memorable. We’ll definitely be back soon!

Pub
The Plymouth Arms is a charming pub with a cozy atmosphere, featuring wood paneling, framed pictures, and carpeted floors. It offers a well-stocked bar with cask ales, lager, fine wines, British gin, and soft drinks. The pub also boasts a beautiful beer garden where guests can enjoy plentiful supplies of food and drinks during the summer months. Located near the popular tourist attraction St Fagans in South Wales, it's an ideal spot to relax after exploring the outdoors.
I only ordered items from the starter menu. Delicious food, beautifully presented. Our plate was full of different flavors—each bite lifted my spirits. The decor has character, and there are plenty of benches outside. Come and visit! It's definitely worth a try.

Beautiful pub in spectacular surroundings. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated straightaway, Lisa and Ben were incredibly friendly and inviting and couldn't do enough for us. Food was absolutely phenomenal, there was a great selection to suit all tastes. Cannot wait for our next visit!

I’ve been a customer for many years. I’ve even taken part in the quiz occasionally. I’ve dined with family, friends and solo during the past forty five plus years. The ambiance is always pleasant and the food on the whole is very good. The car park was full to capacity on the final day of August. The beer garden was sunny and on a spontaneous visit, I ordered the trio Sunday roast. I took my place in the bar area, ordered a Guinness then sat and waited. Why they have a huge tv screen showing Sky News on mute is baffling. I’d ban every tv in every pub unless an important sports fixture was on. Even then, I wouldn’t show it. That’s my only criticism really. The meal was served twenty mins later. It didn’t disappoint at all. Though some crackling would have been appreciated. Meats cooked to perfection and the gravy was delicious. Yorkshire pudding and vegetables were great. The restaurant was busy. Some staff smiled, whilst others had the world on their shoulders. A sticky toffee pudding and ice cream was the desert of choice. This time I ordered from the app that was on table 19. Don’t forget to key in your registration upon arriving. Staff are generally too busy to remind you. Then again, I was a walk in today with no reservation and I seated myself. It’s a tad more expensive than other pubs, however you get what you pay for. Recommended.

Had good & drinks. Probably the best vintage inn I've been to in terms of food, staff and location. Service here is really great; the staff make you feel welcome from the moment you are seated. I imagine the bar can get busy at times, particularly on a hot day. One thing I'll say is I feel sorry for the staff with the build up of drinks glasses - doesn't seem to be much room to keep on top of them. Maybe an extra dish/glass washer would be useful for them. Drinks are a bit pricey but that's just the world we live in at the moment, 2 pints probably don't even equate to the staff's hourly wage 🤷 yet they still can't do enough for you and always a smile on their faces. Wife and I both had starter and then pork belly for main. Food was presently beautifully, top marks for the kitchen here. Scallops were a bit bland, could've done with some seasoning and the crackling served with it probably would've been nice if you want a risk a dentist trip, but the rest was stunning. Good atmosphere and bonus points for being dog friendly! Overall 9.5/10 if you are looking for some British pub food or a few bevvies.

It's the best Sunday roast I've ever had.. I went for the slow cooked pork belly, and it was absolutely delicious.. the meat was simply just melting in my mouth, the crackling was crispy, the Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, and vegetables were as good as you could expect from a proper restaurant. No complaints at all from me. Hubby had fillet sea bass and king prawns, served with baby potatoes, peas, broccoli, and a creamy white wine sauce and he was content with everything. Definitely will be my go-to place for Sunday roast.

Restaurant
Casanova is a discreet 2-floor restaurant in Cardiff that offers modern techniques applied to regional Italian cooking. The menu features a variety of starters like mackerel and new potato salad, beef dripping bruschetta with anchovies and fennel, and spiced black pudding with celeriac puree and apple sauce.
Amazing great food. I had wild mushroom risotto, then hake plain grilled/fried in a soup/stock with peas, broad beans, asparagus, pancetta. I loved it and will bring my wife here. Best Italian food I've had for a long time.

This is a lovely, clean, traditional, independent Italian restaurant, with an intimate atmosphere and attentive staff. We went for the set lunch, and found the quality of the food to be excellent, and the portion sizes to be just right. Our wine was served perfectly chilled, and the coffee was outstanding. Just two things, the tables are very close together, so you don't get a lot of privacy or space during your meal, and also, they offer no dairy alternatives. Otherwise, excellent 👌

Sat upstairs, beautiful and cozy atmosphere. The service was impeccable, I felt cared for by staff. The moment I sat down I had water poured for me and a glass bottle left on the table, which staff immediately filled when empty. The bread and olives were delicious. Our mains arrived just as we finished our starters and they looked perfect. I ordered the Ragu and was not left disappointed. It was the most flavourful pasta I've had in my life, the lamb was incredibly well cooked and had not one ounce of fat, the Pecorino cheese the most amazing pairing. The Pannacotta was absolutely divine it had the most rich cherry topping and delectable almond praline. This is an amazing restaurant and I would recommend this strongly to friends and family.

We arrived 20 minutes late to our reservation, but the staff were extremely accommodating and efficient. Menu was seasonal with some regional classics. The Rotolo, Pesce, and Canolo were all highlights with reasonably priced house red. Atmosphere was welcoming and warm.

Been planning on going to Casanova for a couple years now ever since I heard about it from people that know more about food than me. I am pleased to say the hype is real this place is probably one of the best meals I have ever eaten I have no bad comments to say about Casanova I took my girlfriend there for her birthday and we had the chefs tasting menu each, every single dish we ate was incredible and surprisingly satisfying, so good I would’ve licked the plate if It wasn’t such a nice place. The staff were lovely however, I can not stress enough how incredible the food was, the only regret I have is I didn’t order more food, I will be going here again and again this is on the top of my list of places to eat in Cardiff. Did not disappoint in food, drinks, staff, venue and vibe. 10/10 if I could give 6 stars I would. Thank you Casanova.

Lovely pub restaurant, the staff were friendly and efficient. We booked for Sunday lunch, the food was excellent, the roast beef was particularly tender and the portion sizes were generous. The side orders of veg were large enough for three. The pub is dog friendly and has a very pleasant atmosphere, perfect for a quiet Sunday lunch.

Met with a group of seven ladies for lunch, we spent a wonderful Friday afternoon there with the host Belinda (Bee) looking after us. Belinda was exceptional with her warmth, friendliness, humour, patience & caring. She was extremely accommodating, helping us to adorn the table with some flowers we’d brought, delaying the start of meal by 40 mins due to one of the group having transport problems, enabling us to stay on after the booking for a further three hours (13-18hrs). The bar staff were also very warm & friendly! It couldn’t have been a nicer afternoon! I had the vegetarian option roasted celeriac … delicious 😊 Great atmosphere… happy to recommend!

Booked a table for 7pm expecting it to be very busy due to its reputation , but it was very quiet with only a few gentlemen in following the close of play at cricket. However this didnt detract from the great service, good beer and wonderful food we received. The staff were smart and attentive. On the bar were a selection of Evan Evans beers, all good quality. The food was beautifully cooked and nicely presented. The pastry on my beetroot, onion and goats cheese tart was amazingly light and crispy. Great pub, good beer, magnificent food

The ladies working were unbelievably accommodating and went above and beyond - even putting the women’s rugby world cup on a tv for us! Great pub with good food and still a pub vibe. You can have a proper lunch or dinner (you can even mix and match courses across the people in your group with no problem which we needed as all our family came from all over the place and were in different food zones!!), you can have snacks or just a drink. Nice pub vibe but posh enough to feel special.

Housed in a grand traditional grade 1 listed townhouse designed by renowned architect William Burges, the venue has received accolades for its exceptional wine list. Each dish is expertly paired with a recommended wine to elevate the dining experience.
Andrew the host was an absolute legend, from the phone call booking all the way up until our time there ended. Excellent service with intelligent conversation mixed with good banter. The decor was lovely and in keeping with the age of the building. The food itself was great. Been a long time since I had a tasting menu but I was not disappointed at all and completely stuffed. No surprise this restaurant is in the Michelin guide 👌🏽

I went with my partner for his birthday in February to use a fine dining gift voucher we had. I have to say I was expecting to be blown away but the experience and food but my experience didn’t really meet my expectations. The venue was stunning. We opted for the lunch time 5 course tasting menu and some sparkling wine which was delicious. The restaurant was empty apart from two other tables. The service was quick but staff seemed snobby and rude as myself and my partner were making anecdotes and giggling and were glared at by staff. I didn’t realise it was such a serious place, laughter is a good thing is it not? The staff members also went round and spoke to the other two tables of people but not to us, maybe because we are younger (mid 20s) The food was unique and unlike anything I had tasted before some of which I really enjoyed like the bread and the ratatouille (although it is a cold dish). Some things were not to my taste like the duck with white chocolate dressing. Overall I wouldn’t come back and I wouldn’t recommend it for the price.

Visited for my birthday with my family and had the tasting menu. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The building was interesting and historic and the staff were lovely however that's where the enjoyment ended. The food was really underwhelming. It was presented in a pretentious way, which can be nice on a day out, but it was (mostly) chronically under seasoned and not well cooked. Simple things like, flabby chicken skin. Crab ravioli that tasted more "fishy" than the nice normal sweet flavour of crab, wrapped in a much too thickly rolled pasta. Overall it was disappointing because it's sad to waste a meal out when you could have cooked better at home. It took four hours. FOUR. For a pre-set menu. The furniture was mismatched and the building was in need of some repair and painting.

Superb high end dining with impeccable yet friendly service for our large group of friends. Every dish of their 6 course tasting menu was amazing and the experience even further elevated when paired with their matching wines option. All topped off with a beautiful & sophisticated setting within one of Cardiff's classic Burgess buildings. Not cheap, but a real high end treat.

TLDR: Come for the wine. Not the food. Park House Restaurant, a place so grand, I went with my folks, to take a stand, But it was not to be, it was quite bland. We walked in the door, the staff were polite, But the room was cold, not quite right, We should have worn coats, that was quite the plight, Feeling like a fridge, not quite a delight. The view was nice, of the park out there, But the decor was dull, like an empty chair The food and drink, we hoped would save the day, But alas it was not so, it was a disappointing affair, Mains were unbalanced, flavors all askew, Beef and pork served cold, what to do? Turbot was the best, a balanced dish, But not quite worth the price, my wish. So if you're in Cardiff, and looking for some chow, I recommend The Potted Pig, don't go to Park House now. --- Review Park House Restaurant & Wine Bar After reading about this place on Timeout and seeing the historical Michelin stars I was looking forward to a wonderful meal with my parents whom are hard to convince to venture out. Sadly this was not to be. Though the exterior is impressive that is where our positive experiences ended. We were promptly greeted and seated by staff in a room in cold as temperature as it was in decor. I’ve never had to unironically eat in a fine dining restaurant that required me to wear a jumper and coat to be comfortable. Thankfully there is a nice view of the park, but the general ambiance is lacking with cardboard boxes in the corner and uninspired illustrations of grapes on the wall. The place feels tired and unloved. My hope was the food and drinks would make up for a poor first impression. When asking advice for a Rosé wine the first response I got was an unexpected criticism for selecting a “summer drink”. After insisting describing the profile of the drink we wanted I felt the staff were uninterested and continued to suggest the same bottle with little ability to explain its profile or provide alternatives. The wine was good, but the experience of acquiring it not so much. The food felt very unbalanced in its flavours. Bread with over salted and served with salted butter. Starters were sweet to the point of overpowering with little other distinguishing flavours. For the mains the flavours were better but did have a canteen sense of assembly to them with multiple components reused between the dishes. The beef and pork dishes were sadly served cold to Luke warm compounding our hypothermia. The beef dish was reheated and was certainly decent. I personally gave up on the pork dish half way through - it was fatty, salty, sweet mess of flavours. The Turbot was by far the best and most balanced of the mains. Nothing served was quite worth the price of it. I write this because I believe Cardiffs food scene deserves to be better. A place like Park House is so frustrating because it has so much potential but as I mentioned earlier the place feels unloved. If you are looking for a nice nose to tail restaurant I strongly recommend the POTTED PIG.

Food looks better than actually tastes. Tried their tasting menu (9 courses) with wine pairing and it was somewhat disappointing. Dishes were either over seasoned or little seasoned, never be at the right balance. Tweeks on dishes didn't seem to go well with ingredients. Sadly, there was no dish that amazed me. Wine pairing was questionable too. Service was good though.

Delicious chocolate dessert with 24 carat gold stole my heart. It is generally an elegant restaurant with tasty food, although the waiting time for the dishes was too long. During our visit there were only two other reservations so waiting for dessert 45 minutes was overkill. It is true that we received an additional gift as part of the apology from the chef, but such situations shouldn't take place. I still recommend.

Nestled in the Brewery Quarter, Spice Quarter is a contemporary Indian restaurant housed in a former brewery yard. The venue boasts ornate lanterns and carved screens that add to its ambiance. While it faces competition from well-known chains, such as Busaba, Spice Quarter stands out as an independent eatery offering authentic Indian cuisine without unnecessary frills. The detailed menu caters to both connoisseurs and newcomers to Indian flavors, allowing patrons to explore a wide range of dishes.
I recently visited Indian restaurant Spice Quarter, and it was absolutely amazing! I have never had tastier Indian food in the UK before. I own Lonely Traveler Productions, a company dedicated to exploring culinary delights worldwide, and I must say, The Spice Quarter’s authenticity really impressed me. Beautiful place. Me and my friends didn’t book but the staff was able to find us a table. Overall great lassi and mains. The samosas was not as good as we expected and we wouldn’t recommend it. Booked this restaurant at very short notice and were easily accommodated. When we arrived, we were very taken in by the beautiful decor. The service started off being very attentive, but very quickly started to feel as if we were being rushed through our food and out the restaurant as quickly as possible. The food was absolutely delicious, with some curries I had never come across before, the leftovers the next day were very good also. The bill was also extremely reasonable for a restaurant in the centre of Cardiff. Overall a very good restaurant, although the service would put me off visiting again in the future.

Porro Llandaff is a charming neighborhood eatery located near the picturesque cathedral and bustling high street of Llandaff. The restaurant prides itself on offering the best of Italian cuisine using top-quality Welsh produce. Their menu features a focus on pasta, pizza, and other Italian favorites, with special options for gluten-free diners. The kitchen is led by chefs dedicated to celebrating simple, high-quality ingredients.
This place has wonderful food, drinks, and conversation. We were pleasantly surprised that we didn't need a booking for the night. There were only two of us and it was about an hour before the busy dinner time. I highly suggest giving it a try.

Service and atmosphere was prompt, nice and friendly. Food was well presented, fresh and hot. My only complaint would be that everything was quite bland and if I didn't know what I was eating I couldn't really say what the flavours were (both our starters and mains including the protein) nothing was offensive but nothing was punchy either. I would guess little to no seasoning with none on table to adjust to preference. Desserts were amazing though, wine selection and liqueurs were also good

I was given Porro gift vouchers by my folks for Christmas so was excited to try somewhere new. The food was delicious. Highlight for me was the pea and mint Ravioli, kudos to the chef! My only criticism was that the tiramisu had too many almonds on top. It didn't really add anything to the dish. Sometimes less is more.

Disappointed Regular – Standards Have Slipped I’ve been a loyal customer of Porro for years, having visited well over a dozen times, but sadly, my recent experiences have been increasingly underwhelming. My latest visit for Sunday lunch, on what should have been a special Father’s Day, was particularly disappointing. The food quality has noticeably declined over the last few visits, and this time was no exception. The lamb, which carries a £4 supplement on top of the set Sunday lunch menu, was so fatty it was inedible. My partner couldn’t eat hers at all. When we mentioned this to the waitress, we received little more than a shrug, and the charge remained on the bill. Service was also poor. They had run out of kids’ menus and we were left waiting around 15 minutes for someone to print some, which was a surprising oversight given the occasion. While our waitress was friendly and clearly doing her best, she appeared overwhelmed and unsupported due to the apparent lack of staff. Drinks arrived after I had finished my main, and portion sizes felt smaller than in the past. To top it all off, the bill included a 10% service charge, despite our table being only four people. The menu clearly states it is added for parties of five or more. I usually tip on top of the service charge, but on this occasion I asked for it to be removed, as it felt a bit sly. It is frustrating to see a restaurant I once championed decline in quality and consistency. Regrettably, I won’t be recommending Porro any longer. Quite the opposite.

We were staying in the area for our anniversary and were recommended here. The servers were lovely, the atmosphere was wonderful and the food was gorgeous. Highly recommend the Steak and Vegetarian Linguine as well as the Chocolate Torte and Tiramisu.

Love coming here! We find it a fab atmosphere and good food. Great place to relax and to even get some work admin done whilst enjoying some lunch and coffees! The front of house staff are lovely. Becky and Sam are consistently warm, welcoming, and impressively attentive. Their friendly and accommodating nature creates an atmosphere which instantly sets the tone! See you again soon!

My partner and I had booked private dining for us and our family after our small wedding around the corner. Neither of us had been to Porro before but the restaurant was recommended to us by a friend. The communication leading up to the date was fantastic. On the day, the private dining room was set up with decorations that we had provided and it looked beautiful, just like I imagined. The staff were attentive, friendly and the whole atmosphere was lovely. To top it off, all of our guests mentioned how gorgeous the food was. We are looking forward to returning!
Ffion R — Google review
Underwhelming. Let me start with the good: the goat’s cheese starter and the tiramisu were nice. The bad: despite being a 2-person booking, we were sat on a 4-person table in a loud, busy room upstairs - disappointing as there were spaces in the adjacent room with multiple vacant 2-person tables throughout the evening. Mains were poor: my lamb shoulder was so dry that I couldn’t finish it. It was especially underwhelming considering the price of almost £30. My fiancée had an average fish cake as the hake special had run out - however we then overheard the table behind us being offered the same special but with sea bass to replace it, and the table opposite who had ordered before us had sea bass too when their mains came out. The fish cake itself was bland and dry and the serving was stingy as you can see in the photo. Our waitress was kind enough but at no point did she ask how our food was or try to make any sort of conversation- no passion for service and my impression was she just wanted to get through the shift. I had the Sangiovese red wine which was average. Overall, a little disappointing as last winter my fiancée had eaten here and had a really good experience. Therefore, we were excited for tonight, especially as we were both celebrating the start of annual leave, but it fell far from expectations and its strong reputation.

The Botanist in Cardiff is a unique gastropub-style dining experience that offers a striking interior and a spacious outside terrace. This cocktail bar serves an extensive range of botanical cocktails, including seasonal options and custom creations by their mixologists. The food menu features an a la carte selection, Sunday Roasts, and their signature Hanging Kebabs.
Highly recommend the Triple Hanging Kebabs (Chicken, Lamb & Halloumi!). Food, Service, vibes were amazing. The decoration is insane, a real nice rustic jungle aesthetic. Highly recommend. The live music is pretty amazing! Went on a Saturday night and it was one of my favourite places to visit!
C B — Google review
The Botanist Cardiff is an absolutely stunning venue with a fantastic atmosphere that really sets it apart. The interior is beautifully designed and there is a gorgeous feature that truly makes the experience feel unique, a stage surrounded by a lake, complete with live music, which adds an elegant and lively touch to the evening. It is the kind of place where you want to sit back, relax, and soak in the ambiance. We came here for drinks and food and were really impressed with both. The cocktails were well made and beautifully presented, with attention to detail in every glass. I tried a couple and each one was smooth, flavorful, and nicely balanced. That said, they were on the expensive side, at just over ten pounds each. This is fairly standard for a premium city centre bar, but it would have been nice if the prices were just a little more accessible so more people could discover this place. For food, we ordered the hanging kebabs and they were absolutely amazing. Perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. We also went for the sharing option, which came in at around forty two pounds, but it was more than enough for two people and definitely worth it in terms of taste and portion size. The presentation was eye catching and it arrived at the table looking every bit as good as it tasted. Service was friendly and attentive and everything came out in good time despite the place being busy and rather late. Overall, this is a fantastic spot for a treat or a special evening out. It is not the cheapest option in Cardiff, but the quality of the drinks, the food, and especially the setting all help justify the price. I would happily return and recommend it to anyone looking for a vibrant and stylish night out, just be ready to spend a little more than average. Excellent beer and wine selection also!
Dewi G — Google review
Very creative drinks and cocktails, and a very nice selection of non-alcoholic options too. The venue is absolutely delightful incredibly beautiful. The food was very nice as well. All of the small plates ordered were tasty and the large kebabs and the botanist bowl were all very much enjoyed. The biggest issue really was the service, the weight staff seemed unenthusiastic and not particularly friendly. Our table felt a little intimidated by our waiter who had slightly rudely laughed at us when we were taking a little while to order he would clean empty tables before taking away our plates we just felt slighted in a way, he seemed rude. The kitchen also made a few clumsy errors, there was no pomegranate in a pomegranate couscous salad and falafel was not initially present in the botanist bowl despite being a crucial part of the meal. This was fixed in the end. We also felt it wasn’t justifiable as they were very quiet that it took so long for our order to be taken. On a different night, this could a very easily be a five star review. We just felt slightly put out by the front of house staff, the service was really not there.
Kian G — Google review
Everything about The Botanist is lovely. The staff, food, atmosphere, and a big emphasis on the drinks. Monday through Friday from 4 to 7pm you can enjoy happy hour, I certainly did. With a nice price and a 2 for 1 deal, you certainly get all the drinks you need. I was there celebrating a family members birthday and they went above and beyond, including a decorative dessert board. The hanging kebab you’ll find no where else, it definitely doesn’t disappoint. This is a perfect place to have some nice photos at your table or the bar with its greenery and low lighting. Be mindful of all the steps (there is an elevator). The staff are also very understanding about arriving a few minutes late to your reservation time. Definitely make a reservation if possible. Earlier in the evening you should necessarily need one, but better safe than sorry to miss out.

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting our family from Asia at The Botanist, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. I had requested a simple note saying “Welcome to Cardiff,” but what we received was so much more—a beautifully decorated wooden plate with the message thoughtfully written on it, accompanied by a delicious brownie! It was such a heartfelt surprise, and our guests were genuinely touched. The staff were incredibly attentive, professional, and clearly passionate about creating a memorable experience. Every detail, from the ambiance to the service, was spot-on. We’re so grateful for the warm hospitality and can’t wait to return to The Botanist to host more of our loved ones in the future. Thank you for making our day so special!

We come here a lot, one of our favourite restaurants in Cardiff. Really like the thali but if there are four or more of you, you can do a group deal where the chef picks what you eat. We have done that with friends and they loved it. Great dosas!

Fantastic authentic Indian food. We knew we were going to be in with a treat when we received the obligatory poppadoms and chutneys which were home made and very different to the normal fair you get in an Indian restaurant. The menu is extensive (all vegetarian or vegan) and all absolutely delicious. We left loads as the portion sizes were excellent. The prices are superb (check one of the photos of a menu). The whole meal for two, including a large Kingfisher came to £46. Incredible value.

I was in Cardiff to meet with a dear friend and his wife who were visiting Cardiff from India. Whose diet was vegertrian. I chose this restaurant using the words 'vegetarian restaurant near me'. I was so pleased that I this place. My friends were delighted with the food that was cooked the Maharashtraian way. I chose poori (a fried flatbread), which made in Maharashtraian way (with methi leaves & jeera) served with channa (chickpeas). I would recommend this ... It transported me to my lunchbox during my childhood in India. The service was good. The atmosphere was like a restaurant in India.

Best food place in Cardiff, possibly all of Wales, and potentially better than anywhere in England. I recommend it to all my friends - if they're ever in Cardiff they need to go to the Vegetarian Food Studio. I am an unpaid shill for this place, except they pay me in food when I pay them for food. Filling portions that are full of flavour. Loads of choices. My recommendation is you should have the Bhel Puri, maybe to share as a starter.

Amazing vegetarian food in Cardiff at good prices! We had a chickpea curry, green bean curry, rice and rotis and the food was so good. Authentic North Indian food, clearly labelled with vegan, vegetarian and allergens. Can’t wait to try more from here!

On a recent business trip, I really fancied a Gujarati meal. A Google search brought this place up and the reviews looked great....so I thought I would give it a try. (FYI I am Gujarati). The server was efficient and friendly, the resturant has a sort of charm about it. Sadly the food was a let down. I ordered a plain dosa and a mixed platter of snacks, with salted lasi. The lasi was nice (it's really hard to get that wrong!). The plain dosa was not crispy at all. In fact you would expect a dosa to hold up its rolled up shape, not the one that I got.....it was flat, not crispy, and the flavour was only just passable. The plate of mixed small bites was awful....I left most of it. I think the waiter must have thought I was full and offered to pack it for me to take away - I said no thanks. I was genuinely so disappointed, I was looking forward to some homely food, I can't see myself coming back here. I couldn't work out why the reviews were so high, I think all I can put it down to is the the large majority of reviews are from non-gujarati customers, the lack of other options in Cardiff for similar food...... come on Cardiff, you can and should do better. And as for the owners of the resturant, I know you cook better than what you serve at home, do the same in your restaurant so others can appreciate the wonders of Gujarati food like we do at home. I had to grab a subway on my way back to my hotel!

We went for brunch and really enjoyed the experience. The decor was lovely, creating a welcoming atmosphere. I had the vegetarian breakfast, and my daughter had pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. Everything was beautifully presented, and the ingredients felt thoughtfully chosen. It's a great spot for a relaxed meal!

We visited as a party of five to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The staff were warm and attentive, and the atmosphere and location were excellent, creating a lovely setting for the evening. Service was generally good, though there was an issue with the timing of the starters — they were brought out at different times, which meant most of the table had finished before one guest received theirs. Once served, however, the starters were well received and enjoyed by everyone. I had the calamari, which was beautifully presented and paired with a sublime aioli dip. For my main course, I chose the sirloin steak salad. The steak itself was tender and full of flavour, but the salad was disappointing, as it was both overly dressed and lacking in variety. On a more positive note, the drinks were excellent and perfectly prepared. Overall, while there were some inconsistencies with the food and service, the welcoming staff, atmosphere, and drinks made it an enjoyable evening.

Spent a wonderful New Years Eve at the Brook Bistro. We always enjoy coming here as the food is great and they are very dog friendly. 3 course meal at £49.95pp was good value for money but a glass of spritz/mocktail on arrival would have been a nice touch. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal (scallops, monkfish, lemon posset). My lemon posset was slightly runny at the bottom, don't think it was quite set. The flavour was gorgeous though. Overall, we loved our evening and would consider spending new year's eve there again.

Another fantastic visit with a couple of friends for a late lunch. We ate off the 2 courses for £21.95 menu and the food was superb, especially the desserts! I thought the dessert I had on my last visit couldn’t be beaten but the summer Eton mess was to die for! Great value for money and lovely staff. I can’t recommend this independent restaurant enough. Looking forward to eating in the new garden area next time if the weather is better!

First visit to The Brook for brunch and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The menu is massive, including cooked breakfasts, salads, french toast, pancakes and a multitude of egg dishes. Plenty of options for veggies and we tried the vegetarian breakfast salad and the Eggs Cyprus. Both presented well and tasted amazing. Service first class and the restaurant looks amazing. Definitely give this one a try.

Wow! Highly recommend the breakfast to everyone! We’ve been here before for dinner and it’s always 10/10. We come this morning for breakfast and we were not disappointed. We had a few different things off the menus and it was all so good. The service is great and the atmosphere made my morning. Any who visit the brook needs to have an amaretto sour. Hands down best drink I’ve had anywhere and it’s so drinkable leave room for at least 3. Thank you guys. I’m sure we’ll be seeing you again very soon.

Me and my partner booked a table here for a Sunday roast - it was a surprise booking for my partner but I decided after looking at the menu and seeing ‘slow-roasted leg of lamb’ as well as the many Mediterranean inspired dishes. The food was incredible, it was fresh, quick to come out and absolutely worth every penny! However, the service absolutely outdid the food if that was even possible! We were warmly greeted and taken care of by multiple staff members who even helped me write out a Welsh birthday message for my friend! I have already recommended this place to my friends as there is nothing I can fault especially with the beautiful decor! We will definitely come back again😊

Nestled within the luxurious Parkgate Hotel, The Sorting Room Restaurant is a stunning new gem in Cardiff's vibrant dining scene. Housed in a beautifully renovated former mail sorting room, this upscale eatery offers an exquisite brasserie menu crafted by renowned chef Justin Llewelyn. Guests can indulge in delightful dishes like the Beef Wellington made with 21-day-aged Welsh beef fillet and rich perigourdine sauce.
This had to be the prettiest/daintiest afternoon tea I've ever had. Really enjoyed the savoury options as they are quite often a bit of a let down. The beef brisket slider was absolutely delicious and I could have scoffed another one! Scones were served straight from the oven. They were very light and buttery. The pastries were the most delicate I've ever had. I was expecting them to be rich and heavy but that wasn't the case. The pixie orange lacked the mousse texture that was stated on the menu and could hardly taste the orange flavour. That was the only pastry that disappointed. Service was excellent and out teapots were never empty! Overall, I really enjoyed our experience. Perfect for a special occasion.

My wife was given three course meal for two as a gift. Only a small choice of items on the menu 4 starters, mains and deserts but this wasn’t a bad thing as the food was outstanding. Portion sizes were just right. Service was also great. £11 for two bottles of water and £45 for a decent bottle of wine. My desert wasn’t as expected and didn’t really work, lemon drizzle cake with Eaton mess cream.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming which is always a good sign. The choice of food on the menu is broad and ought to cater for most tastes including vegetarian, vegan and gluten intolerant options; the choices of alcoholic beverages is mostly unfortunately limited to ‘lager’ based ales albeit some of the slightly more tasteful European types; no doubt this reflects the general age groups the establishment is encouraging to visit. Five of us had dinner in the early evening; three adults and two teenagers as there was plenty of option on the menu for younger preferences. The internal deco is themed with old style industrial lighting and more homely lampshades in another section making for an interesting mix of styles. It was a midweek visit and the place was busy making for a noisy environment; however the music was not too loud it was simply the sound of conversation in an environment that reflected sound off the walls; that said many popular establishments have similar problems; people seem to think of noise as somehow atmospheric. A simple solution noise pollution is to possibly have some soft furnishing on or near the walls or ceiling or if considered a fire hazard there are some other options available that ought not to be too costly; this would greatly improve the ambiance for those people such as grandparents taking their grandchildren out for an evening meal. The table service was a bit haphazard as there were some untimely waits for some dishes to arrive whilst others came along quickly. The Fino Lounge however, is well worth a visit.

I do enjoy the food here and the service is great. You can also bring dogs in the downstairs area. The service here is great and it is always busy when I visit. There are a couple of small outside tables for when it's sunny. The downsides are it isn't cheap (although not expensive) and the tables outside could do with being a bit more sturdy so if you knock them you dont accidentally spill our drink.

They dealt so well with the huge numbers people in there that afternoon Food was great too

Good selection on tap (lager, ales, cider) and a good range of spirits and mixers available too. The staff were friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. I appreciate the interior design of the pub but my absolute favourite element is the large beer garden. The garden has a variety of tables suitable for every need, some tables in the open and others under shelter. There are heaters for the evenings and blankets that can be borrowed. I first went here around 10 years ago when I last lived in Wales and I’m so glad to have found it again!

Nestled on Wellfield Road in Roath, Silures is the brainchild of two industry veterans who have previously worked at prestigious establishments like The Savoy in London.
This is one of the top restaurants in Cardiff. Me and my partner booked this restaurant as we like to explore new dishes and this place did not disappoint. We went for a la carte dinner. Everything exceeded our expectations. Ideal for date night. Would highly recommend and would definitely return.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Silures in Cardiff, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I stepped foot inside, I was greeted with warm and friendly smiles from the staff. The ambiance of the restaurant was cosy and inviting, creating the perfect atmosphere for a delightful meal. Speaking of the meal, the food at Silures truly exceeded my expectations. Every dish that came out of the kitchen was a masterpiece, bursting with flavours that left my taste buds dancing with joy. The menu offered a wide range of options, ensuring there was something to satisfy every palate. What impressed me even more was the reasonable prices for such high-quality cuisine. It's not often you find a restaurant that offers such a fantastic dining experience at such affordable prices. The staff at Silures played a significant role in making my visit memorable. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about their craft. Their friendly and accommodating nature made me feel right at home, and their recommendations were spot-on. I simply cannot speak highly enough about Silures. If you're looking for a restaurant that combines delicious food, reasonable prices, and a welcoming atmosphere, then look no further. Silures is the place to be. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

When you first enter Silures, it feels like an elevated pub but lo and behold, you will soon be transported to a fantastic, mouthwatering and well curated dining experience when you ascend the stairs. Never one to shy away from an expensive menu, I did find some of the entrées to be a bit overpriced. Having said that, we thoroughly enjoyed everything about the meal, including the soft lighting and intimate decor on the first floor. I highly recommend this restaurant when in Cardiff.

Dined in the new terrace outside which was beautiful! Salmon rillete was one of the nicest things I’ve eaten in Cardiff! Staff lovely. Risotto and prawns were epic tasted so fresh!

My wife & I had another amazing evening at Silures. We started with cocktails in the quaint and private garden. Our meal was in the main restaurant which is wonderfully decorated. We always start our meal with olive oil sourdough, which is amazingly grilled without a hint of oiliness. The Buffalo Burrata was a starter we tried as well and worth a mention. Go to mains for us are the fillet steaks which are always perfectly grilled with amazing sides. Silures is a gem in the heart of the city on Wellfield Road and highly recommended for quality of drinks, amazing food and a great ambience.

Absolutely incredible venue. Everything about it. The most pleasant, professional friendly staff. Beautiful food so elegantly done. A rare find in Cardiff. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a drink, food or nibble. Divine

Such a beautiful restaurant, we went to Silures for a birthday meal with a large group. Had the prawns to start, sea bass for main, and basque cheesecake for dessert. The prawns and sea bass were delicious, the cheesecake wasn’t the best basque cheesecake I’ve ever had, it could have been more creamy. I was really impressed with the mocktails, they weren’t just fruit juice, actual thought has gone into creating this menu. The waiters were amazing, the only reason I’ve marked down the service is because there were quite long waits in between courses and I appreciate with a large group this does happen, but even the desserts took 30/40 minutes to arrive and only a few of us had them. I would definitely go back, top quality food 👌

We visited Silures last year for our anniversary dinner and were genuinely impressed, it set the standard for special occasions. The team went above and beyond, with a personalised anniversary card and a celebratory cake on the house. It made us feel truly valued, and we couldn’t wait to return this year. Unfortunately, our recent visit was the complete opposite. From the start, the service felt inattentive and disorganised. Staff seemed unsure about the menu and unable to provide any helpful suggestions. The manager, who eventually came over, was polite and seemed to care, but our main server remained disengaged and unfriendly. We even had to ask to place our order, despite clearly being ready, the servers were preoccupied relaying tables next to us and avoiding eye contact. At one point, they disappeared to stand in the hallway, out of sight entirely. It wasn’t until my girlfriend leaned over and waved to get their attention that we were finally able to order. The food itself was fine but didn’t justify the experience. The duck portion was noticeably small and left me feeling hungry, especially given the restaurant’s pricing and reputation. There was no check-in once our food arrived, and after our plates were cleared, we waited around 15 minutes before anyone offered a dessert menu. We had planned to stay for another drink, but as soon as we declined dessert, the bill was placed on our table without a word — abrupt and frankly rude. We mentioned our disappointment to the host on the way out and were met with a blunt apology. Steps of service clearly need to be re-taught to the team, as the experience fell far below the standard Silures once set. Such a shame, especially as it’s within walking distance and used to feel like a special local treat. I’ve always recommended this restaurant for special occasions, but after this visit, I’ll be suggesting elsewhere from now on.

Bar
The Flora is a lively and modern pub located in Cardiff, offering a beer garden with local craft brews, cocktails, and updated comfort food. It's known for serving scrumptious roast dinners with a variety of flavorful meats or a veggie option accompanied by an enormous Yorkshire pudding and an inspiring selection of vegetables. The pub welcomes dogs inside and in the sun-trap garden where patrons can enjoy pool games and succulent cocktails.
Hands down the best Sunday roast we’ve ever had. The beef was incredibly flavourful and juicy, and the chicken was perfectly marinated—packed with flavour and cooked just right. The Yorkshire puddings were a highlight, generously filled with roast beef bits, and the vegetables were nicely spiced and well-prepared. The only slight letdown was the roast potatoes, which could’ve been crispier and weren’t fresh, and there was no ketchup available. Still, the meal was so delicious overall that we’ll definitely be back!

Absolutely love this place! Robyn served me and she was absolutely amazing – so friendly and welcoming. She really made it feel like home by offering guess who which was played with a side of giggles. Great service, good vibes, and just an all-round lovely experience. Can’t wait to come back tomorrow!!

I had a fantastic experience at The Flora Pub, thanks to the incredible service from Dan and Ellie behind the bar. Both were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive throughout the evening. Dan knows his craft – he made great recommendations and mixed drinks with real skill. Ellie was just as impressive, keeping everything running smoothly with a smile and making sure no glass stayed empty for long. It’s rare to find bartenders who strike the perfect balance between friendly and professional, but Dan and Ellie nailed it. Their energy added so much to the atmosphere and made the night feel special. I’ll definitely be back – and hoping they’re working when I do. Cheers!

Went for Sunday roast - and arrived not long after noon. First off the veggie roast no longer comes with Yorkshire pudding (shock horror! - but I was able to add one for and extra £1. I was impressed when my plate of food first arrived. It looked like a truly edible feast. However, the nut roast was a bit sloppy and had red peppers in it - which was not to my taste - but which others may enjoy. Unfortunately the roast potatoes ( the absolute heart of a Sunday roast!) were hard and tasted mostly of oil. It must be difficult to make roast potatoes en masse and keep them tasting fresh because it seems that restaurants have a difficult time getting them right. Veggie gravy tastes like bog standard Bisto - ‘just add boiling water’ stuff - which was disappointing because I loved the Flora’s veggie gravy from a couple of years ago which was served with a celeriac roast then. The star of the roast was a side of tenderstem broccoli served with wild fresh garlic and a pesto butter - which I could happily have eaten all day.

Nice student pub with very tasty food. Fair prices. Only sad thing is there is no ale or local beer, all cask larger like Amstel or carlsberg .

Amazing pub with a fantastic crowd. Good list of cocktails. The bartender Ann made us Sex on the Beach & The Godfather and they were amazing. Cocktails are at 2 for £10.50. Recommended 10/10

Great little pub with a warm, laid-back vibe. The real highlight is Dan behind the bar — friendly, quick with a pour, and even quicker with a good story or a solid beer recommendation. Whether you're a regular or just passing through, he makes everyone feel like a local. Definitely worth a visit if you're after good drinks and even better company.

The flora is brilliant I love the style of the bar and the staff are always really friendly. They have a good selection of alcohol as well as soft drinks. The only food I never tried in here is the Sunday roasts and they are absolutely fantastic. I cannot fault them and I have been absolutely stuffed for a day or two after having them would highly recommend them. The atmosphere in the bar and in the beer garden have always been a good one and I love the fact that it's dog friendly as well.

It's known for its breathtaking views of the bay, making it an ideal spot to catch the sunset while sipping on delicious cocktails. This pet-friendly establishment welcomes dogs and provides a spacious garden area for relaxation. The venue also offers street food and reasonably priced drinks, with attentive staff members who ensure that both guests and their furry companions are well taken care of.
The Christmas lights switch-on event at Lo Lounge was magical. The lights set the perfect holiday mood, while the Christmas stalls offered unique gifts and treats. We indulged in tasty hot chocolates and fantastic food, making for a great evening. The friendly staff created a warm, welcoming atmosphere all wearing their Christmas Jumpers and the big screen showing Home Alone inside added a nostalgic and cozy touch.

The Lo Lounge hosted the Thai festival on the 17th August 2025, this is a great place with a nice bar area, plenty of seating outdoors, indoors, with view over the bay. It's easy to find and there is parking close by. We had a great time there and I would definitely recommend going to one of the many functions they host.

What an amazing night absolutely loved and enjoyed the show that was put on by lo lounge , the fire girls show was brilliant and the fireworks were fab and the dj blasting out the tunes! Had a walk around the bay today and thought I'd stop off for a nibble. Menu really restricted with not much choice. Pretty much just chips with a topping available for about £9. I bought myself, partner the dirty fries, and my daughter plain fries. Plus 2 cans of pop and it came to almost £30. It's just felt really expensive. Won't come back in a rush given the limited menu choices but the staff were friendly and accommodating.

We popped in here after a lovely walk from the Barrage. It was a great find. Great atmosphere and great views. There is plenty of space outside on a nice day. I only popped inside on route to the toilets. These were no e and clean. Staff were friendly and I noticed on of them making sure a dog was given water and he also gave them treats. Nice touch. We ordered drinks from the bar and they were reasonably priced for the area. At the table you will find a few menus for drinks and food. It can get confusing as the one we ordered from was for the food shack that's we walked passed by the bike rental place. Italian hot filled pastries (panzerrotto) I believe. He will actually bring them to your table after you have ordered from the app. It's nice the venue allows this, not sure how they are affiliated with each other. But it's great to have that option. I believe they have wedding guests sectioned off outside. We were treated to a duet of opera singers. Very nice. Overall a great experience.

I love this place!! Super cute and amazing salad. My go-to order is the small salad which is £8.5. Which I think the portion is pretty much. They always have nice selection of salad, taste so good!! 100% recommend

Traditional lobscouse with toast seems like a normal dish but this was the first time i have Welsh cuisine. Lobscouse taste great and the beef in it was very tender, with the crunchy toast it was amazing. The chicken ciabatta was tasty with the sauce too it was a pity for the chicken was a bit rough(i prefer thigh than breast). The little pastry that i didnt know the name was crunchy and buttery with lightly touch of cinnamon match perfectly with the cappuccino! Love it!

Have thought long and hard about leaving a bad review for a small local business. I bought a salad for 9 quid. It was not much bigger than a side salad. It was vegetables and pasta. The mark up on this would have been a lot. When I asked the guy if this was a normal size he said - ‘yeah there’s quite a lot in there.’ I’m sorry but you should know your metrics and not guess what’s fair - making it right wouldn’t have cost a lot. I felt dismissed and insignificant as a customer. Why would I come back again. Shame as we are a local family.

This place is an absolute “must go” in Cardiff. The atmosphere, the concept, the food and the staff there contribute to the whole experience. Have come back multiple times and recommend to all of my friends. The owners and workers deserve a big congratulations for such delicious food and treating costumers so well. Had a fantastic experience here. We had the tasting menu dinner, and I can honestly say that everything was delicious, and cooked to perfection. The cooking is not pretentious, but shows off the ingredients and the skill of the chef very well. The potions are generous. And it's not "cheap", but is actually very good value. It is not often the case to get such well executed food for a reasonable price. You could go to a place with a bigger reputation or in another city and pay twice the price for comparable quality. The waiter was very helpful, got our dietary requirements correct and explained everything in a polite, friendly manner. Highly recommended, we'll definitely be back.

Stella Italia Cardiff is a charming restaurant that beautifully marries Indo-Italian cuisine, creating an unforgettable dining experience. Diners rave about the mouthwatering dough balls that kick off the meal, followed by standout dishes like Coconut Beef Pizza and Butter Chicken Penne, which are bursting with flavor. The friendly staff enhances the overall experience with their welcoming demeanor and attentive service.
We’ve been to Vivo Amigo before and wanted to try Stella Italia for a while. We had the battered cauliflower, Arancini, Pineapple Paradise pizza and a curry calzone. The Arancini was delicious, warm in the centre and beautifully presented. Overall a great experience, 10/10 service and we will be back to try more options! Would only ask if the front door could be locked/securely closed as we were quite chilly sitting next to it.

What a gem of a place! A fusion of 2 of my favourite cuisines! Went on a Wednesday early evening. Service was impeccable, food was glorious! Cannot recommend it enough! And as an added bonus you can order from the restaurant next door which is a Indian mexican fusion restaurant. For starters we ordered chilli paneer tacos, veg and paneer rolls, brie bites, garlic dough balls and cheese naan bites. All were delicious and moreish. Kids has a garlic bread with cheese which was a pizza in itself and a margherita which was lovely and soft. For our mains we ordered a chilli paneer pizza, paneer makhni calzone and a saag paneer pasta. The pizza's were one of the best I've had in a while. Dough was toasted at the bottom yet soft and fluffy on the top. Personally the saag paneer wasn't for me (I don't like cooked spinach) That chilli paneer pizza was a revelation! It's must try dish!!!! For deserts we got 2 ice creams in a waffle cone for the kids, a warm croissant with gelato and tiramisu. All were lovely, although we were all full from the mains! Would have been nice to a few Indian/Italian fusion deserts (ras malai gelato, gulab jamun or jalebi cheesecake, masala chai tiramisu or cannolis) Will highly recommend you go here and I for sure will be going back!

The service was efficient, and the team ensured we felt well taken care of throughout our visit. We had such a great time that we’re already planning to come back and try the Vivo Amigo next time. If you’re looking for excellent food, a warm ambience, and attentive service, Stella Italia is definitely worth a visit!

The food was excellent, we went there with our daughter and they accomodate every needs. Service on point. We came back after the first lovely experience and unfortunately we will not return. We ordered the “parmigiana” pizza and as specified in the menu comes with burrata (we love burrata and that is the only reason why we got the pizza). Once the pizza arrived we noticed the burrata missing, once we reposted the burrata missing we have been told that they didn’t have any burrata left, we ate the pizza because we didn’t want to waste the food but we didn’t appreciate the fact that they just brought the food without advertising the missing ingredient. The server was really nice about it but the fact that we haven’t not been told before ordering has really put us down. Such a shame. I’d like to add that the discount wasn’t offered by your staff, when revived the bill we got charged full price. I had to tell the server that I wasn’t willing to pay full price and ONLY then we had offered the discount, hands why I dropped the review to two stars. Ambience deserves 5 stars as I think the decor looks good but it’s not enough to justify the poor service.

Second visit to Cafe Rouge in Cardiff - first time one of the courses had to be sent back due to the steak being incorrectly prepared however the response from the staff was timely and polite with a high degree of satisfaction. The second time the drinks took too long to arrive (about 40 minutes) - the main courses took far longer and when they arrived two of the four were wrong. Very dissappointed. Bluster and excuses from the staff - we left.

A beautiful place to go for brunch. The location and atmosphere are wonderful, and the food is also well made.
