Heaneys Restaurant is a trendy establishment offering refined dishes and evening tasting menus, along with an assortment of wines and cocktails. Situated in the former location of Arbennig, this Kickstarter-funded diner is the brainchild of Great British Menu finalist Tommy Heaney.
Delicious. A fine dining restaurant with great service. Did the tasting menu with wine pairing. pretty generous with the wine too. Food was delicious. bartender made a cocktail tailored to my taste.
Debbie T — Google review
My girl and I had a tremendous birthday lunch comprising the Short Taster 7/8 course menu - we couldn't do the wine pairing as we were driving (cue violins). Each course was a delight - small plates as per a taster menu, each was packed full of flavour, impeccably cooked and an exciting experience. It's difficult to pick favourites so I won't - it was all fantastic. I thought the lamb dish needed more beetroot. The service was faultless, as is the decor. I'd prefer jazz on the playlist, but that's just a personal preference. Worth every penny.

We enjoyed an amazing 10-course tasting menu at this restaurant last Saturday afternoon. I can’t believe we had not been to this restaurant before this. Impeccable service and exquisite food! I was a marmite hater but the marmite butter was excellent. I highly recommend this place.
Nuhu G — Google review
We had a really excellent meal at Heaney's ahead of the rugby. We had the shorter tasting menu and each element was absolutely delicious. One of the best meals we've had in a while, and that's from two London foodies.
SueH — Google review
“I had an absolutely amazing experience at Heaney’s. The tasting menu blew my mind, and the staff and service were just outstanding. Huge thanks and appreciation for everything they do!” Thank you for a great night x

This was an amazing find and I highly recommend to others! The food, service and atmosphere were all worthy of 1 Michelin star. Very surprised they hadn’t already got one, but hopefully it’s their time soon. The tasting menu and wine pairing was carefully considered, and well matched. The attention to detail throughout was well designed. Thank you for an amazing experience!
K D — Google review
Always wanted to go to Heaneys, and the £35 5 course set lunch menu deal gave us the opportunity (deal was even available on a Saturday). Fair to say it did not disappoint. Absolutely sublime from start to finish and an incredible culinary masterclass. Potato terrine and ox cheek were particular highlights but all of it was 10/10. If you get the chance to go, don’t think twice - it takes the dining experience to another level
Joseff B — Google review
Came here for our 1st wedding anniversary. Excellent restaurant with Michelin star quality food and service. We had the long tasting menu and each course was delicious. My wife is lactose intolerant and they accommodated to her needs with no issues. It is pricey but that is to be expected for the quality of food. Courses were weighted towards fish so non fish lovers would struggle with the tasting menu. But having said that I'm not a huge fan of fish but I enjoyed every course. Would definitely return again for a special occasion. I would expect this restaurant to be awarded a Michelin star in the near future.

Modern Indian restaurant
Asian restaurant
Purple Poppadom is a vibrant and modern restaurant in Cardiff, known for its imaginative take on classic Indian curries. The restaurant has received numerous accolades, including being listed in the Michelin Guide and Good Food Guide. Its urban ambiance and flavorful handmade treats have earned it recognition, such as being named Curry House of the Year 2013 and The Best Indian Restaurant in South Wales Award 2013.
One of the best, most authentic Indian culinary experience I have had. The flavours were amazing in every single dish I tried. This restaurant is one of the many reasons why I absolutely love Indian cuisine. The service was on point and the waiters were very friendly. I highly recommend a trip to this place to order the tandoori lamb dish, it was out of this world.
Alexander L — Google review
So, a number of awards, a reduced unusual but very interesting menu and prices well above average - we weren't sure what to expect. The chutneys were the first sign suggesting we were in for something good. We had the Kozhi Curry which was very good with a range of spices coming through a coconut base sauce with a little bit of a kick. The Lamb Shank dish is one to definitely try. However, was it good value for money ? You'll have to decide this for yourself.
Mark F — Google review
Had a wonderful experience dining here the food absolutely lived up to its reputation as part of the Michelin selected restaurant list. The appetizers and main course were both superb, full of rich, layered flavours that really impressed. The dessert we ordered, however, didn’t quite match the standard of the rest of the meal it was good, but not as memorable. The staff were genuinely warm and attentive, and the ambience inside is elegant and inviting perfect for a fine dining experience. The restaurant is located in an area that isn’t particularly exciting and being on the first floor makes the entrance a bit unconventional, but once you’re in, the atmosphere makes up for it. Overall, this place delivers an excellent fine dining experience with Indian cuisine – something that’s still quite rare to find at this level. Definitely worth a visit.
Shubhankar G — Google review
We had an amazing dining experience at Purple Poppadom, Cardiff – truly deserving of its Michelin Star. The food was outstanding, with every dish full of flavor and beautifully presented. The service was warm and attentive, making the evening extra special. A must-visit in Cardiff for anyone who loves exceptional food and fine dining. Highly recommended!
Vivek R — Google review
We had an absolutely delightful Sunday Roast at one of the best restaurants in Cardiff. The food was simply spot on – amuse bouche was amazing, the chicken was perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with flavour. The cauliflower cheese was particularly delicious – creamy, rich, and comforting, just as it should be. The dessert, a classic bread and butter pudding, was beautifully balanced – not too sweet, with just the right texture and a lovely finish to the meal. The staff were genuinely friendly, welcoming, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxing Sunday afternoon. Overall, it was a lush experience from start to finish. We’ll definitely be back!

What a fabulous place highly recommend, Fantastic scenery , Staff were brilliant always asking if we need anything else. The food was fantastic some much flavour and spice everything you expect. Would definitely visit again.

Amazing food & excellent & friendly service. One of the best if not the best Indian restaurants in Cardiff hands down!
James W — Google review
Daylight Robbery Disguised as Fine Dining – Avoid at All Costs I rarely have a bad meal, mainly because I research every restaurant religiously before visiting (in Tripadvisor we trust). But my god – The Purple Poppadom slipped the net, and what a mistake that was. The menu was the first warning sign. None of the classic Indian dishes you’d expect – no Jalfrezi, no Bhuna. We ordered poppadoms to start, which arrived as a basket of broken shards with three token chutneys. No yoghurt, no onions – laughable for a restaurant trading on “fine dining” credentials. The mains were even worse. My lamb rogan josh was just lumps of meat dumped into thin gravy, and my partner’s chicken dish was so poor it had to be taken off the bill. When I raised the fact that my £18.95 lamb dish had just four pieces of meat, the waiter smugly corrected me: “There are five.” Oh, well in that case – what a bargain! Portions across the board were poor: the rice came in the tiniest bowl imaginable, and while the naan was decent, it hardly rescued the meal. Then came the insult: a bill of £67 (with a £25 meal removed) for two underwhelming mains, four broken poppadoms, two beer and two soft drinks. Outrageous. The last award this place won was five years ago, and it shows – the quality has collapsed since. And the service? When we raised our (very reasonable) concerns, the waiter found it all too stressful and sloped off into the kitchen for a vape. Absolutely disgusting. The Purple Poppadom is living on a faded reputation it no longer deserves. Overpriced, under-portioned and underwhelming. Quite possibly the worst Indian I’ve ever had – and I will never return.

Located in central Cardiff, The Potted Pig offers a unique dining experience in former bank vaults. The restaurant serves modern British cuisine with French and New York influences, constantly evolving its menu to create carefully crafted dishes.
Absolutely fantastic. This is my third time visiting, once for evening meal and twice for roast, this time we tried the sharing roast with lamb, pork and beef. The lamb fell apart, the pork was tender and the beef was just the right amount of pink. Crisp potatoes, perfectly cooked veg, love that it includes cauliflower cheese as most places this is an additional side you have to pay extra for! We got there early so got to enjoy the calm moments before it got busy. Such a beautiful venue, wonderful attentive staff, and probably one of the best roasts iv had. A firm favourite that I will always return to when I visit Cardiff for a weekend.

Deliciouus! And the atmosphere is also very nice - very elegant decorations. I loved the small pig details. 😜 But I found it to be a bit too cold. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Great experience last night. The staff was friendly and engaging while the manager was amazing at helping to find the right wine to go with our mains. We ordered from the specials menu and the regular menu and were not disappointed. Great flavour with good sized portions. We weren’t rushed at all and had a lovely time. Thank you for a lovely night! Try the sticky toffee pudding!!

Went here for our wedding anniversary, and we will definitely be back the next time we're in Cardiff. Everything we ordered was delicious, the staff were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was perfect.

What a gem! My wife and I enjoyed the signature starter, potted pig, Ox Cheek Tagliatelle and Tender Lamb Shoulder with a nice Spanish Rioja. The manager sat us in a romantic corner and made us feel special by stopping at our table several times to check on us.
Mike P — Google review
Nice and warm welcome. Nice and almost relaxing atmosphere. Food was really great. Michelin "recognized" with a plaque outside for a reason. Great value for money and truly recommendable.
S X — Google review
The mains were not great. My wife's ravioli was barely warm and had to send it back to heat it up but didn't come back much better. My monkfish and cod linguine was also not hot enough and I was hunting for the cod so didn't think it was worth the price. My burrata starter was good but my wife found her terrine starter dry. Overall we were disappointed.

Delicious food in great company! As French people, we are « picky » on food (everybody knows that🤣) but we were really surprised to find this amazing place that we highly recommend. If you visit Cardiff, don’t miss it! 😉

Asador 44 Spanish Grill & Wine House is a cozy and modern restaurant located in the heart of Cardiff, offering a contemporary take on traditional Spanish cuisine. Inspired by the Basque Country's culinary traditions, the restaurant specializes in grilling high-quality, locally sourced produce and expertly aged meats over open flames. The warm and inviting interior features rustic wooden tones and an open kitchen where diners can watch the chefs at work.
Could not recommend this place enough. We went for my brother’s graduation, and had the most fantastic meal. The staff were brilliant, the service was flawless - they were helpful and gave great suggestions. The food was absolutely delicious. We tried a load of the ‘snacks’ - everything was great, and really recommend the bread with sobresada butter. Then had the lamb and suckling pig sharing platters which were to die for. The meat was tasty, and pull-apart. We also had a number of sides which were fantastic - the artichokes, leek gratin, etc. Brilliant atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone in Cardiff!
Mia G — Google review
Excellent restaurant with some amazing food. Unfortunately the Spanish sirloin was not the best, very chewy & fatty. Everything else was great though & staff were very friendly
James W — Google review
A solid restaurant. The 600g sirloin was a little tough for being served medium rare. The lamb shoulder was absolutely delicious! Our drinks order was lost so waited around half an hour for drinks. The front of house team were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed.
Jas S — Google review
Great service only surpassed by the quality of the food. Had the sharing lamb as a main , with prawn croquettes and sourdough to start. The tables are spaced out, the service not intrusive and the general atmosphere was good. Look forward to eating there again.

Living in Spain, it is hard to try Spanish restaurants abroad but asador44 is a great exception. Food has quality and is tasty, the service is good and the wine list acceptable offering Spanish references only including pleasant surprises as Zarate, José Gil, Lopez de Heredia, Envínate or Luis Pérez wines. To my mind, one of the best restaurants in Cardiff
Acme — Google review
We recently visited Asador44 for our Wedding Anniversary. We have dined at Asador a number of times and it never disappoints. The atmosphere and décor is warm and welcoming, as are the staff. James who served us was polite and knowledgeable about the menu. On previous occasions we have had the stunning steak dishes, supplied by a favourite beef supplier we use and are perfectly cooked on an open asador flame grill. On this occasion, we opted for different dishes. My wife had a favourite of ours Pulpo a la Gallega whilst I had the Confit duck leg with aged rice. Both dishes were a pleasure on the eye and tasted delicious, accompanied by a bottle of the house white wine, which was enjoyable. We finished off with the Chocolate tart and ice cream, which was incredibly rich and indulgent. As ever, dining at Asador44 is always a pleasure and we cannot wait to dine there again.
Lee C — Google review
Went here for a birthday dinner and had the last spot for reservation. Finding parking was a nightmare (not the restaurant's fault, obviously) but the staff made every effort to accommodate us despite arriving slightly late. The food was served promptly, was piping hot and delicious, full of flavour! Ended the evening with a nice little surprise- 44% off the bill at the roll of a dice! (They had a promotion going in January) 10/10 would recommend!
Mehar S — Google review
Went for a night out with a few friends who had been before to Asador. The food variety, restaurant layout and the look a feel were all very good. The service was excellent and the food was good but be prepared to pay for it, as it’s not a cheap night out and I am not absolutely convinced the food is worth the price. Would I go again, probably yes but it would be only to go with friends at their request, but I wouldn’t say no. The bill was £400 between 4 of us with 1 bottle of wine in that.

Restaurant
Thomas by Tom Simmons is a high-end brasserie in Pontcanna, Cardiff, offering French-inspired dishes made with Welsh ingredients. Since its opening in February 2020, it has gained popularity among celebrities and national restaurant critics. The restaurant's elegant ambiance complements the exquisite menu curated by Pembrokeshire-born chef Tom Simmons. Dishes like Welsh lamb cannon with crispy lamb belly and black garlic showcase the fusion of French technique and Welsh produce.
We had vouchers for here, which expired in December 2024. Unfortunately I was diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemo, so I emailed to see if we could extend the voucher, which the restaurant said was no problem. I then needed radio added on so had to extend the vouchers another two times, which they were more than happy to accommodate. Once we were there (finally!) the experience was fantastic, everything from the staff, the atmosphere, the food was phenomenal. Due to the radio my mouth is quite sensitive, the staff were more than happy to provide me with some samples of wine and whiskey to see which worked best for me. Our first meal out since our boy was born and since I finished treatment. It was a great experience.

Visited here on a Saturday night, the place seems very hectic for what’s meant to be fine dining. We went for the £85 tasting menu, a few glasses of wine each etc and the food just felt flat. The food lacked seasoning, although the presentation was beautiful, I had to ask for Salt which you don’t expect especially for that price point. I’d been to Hiraeth a few days before and it just didn’t match up to it on service, atmosphere or food quality. I think they’re out pricing themselves for the quality & atmosphere vs other comparable tasting menu places in the area.
Victoria P — Google review
Menu’s on the pricey side, portions are small (as you’d expect for a fine dining restaurant) but can’t complain about the quality of food - we ordered all the mains except the chateaubriand and a few starters and desserts, all were great and sophisticated but I liked the desserts best - try the peanut butter parfait and yuzu cake! Overall for the price we paid everything is up to standard but not mind-blowing good. Would love to visit again for their lunch menu.

I choose this restaurant for my daughter last year studying in Cardiff, the tasting menu and the scallop not only are delicious but also the presentation are so beautiful. All the staff are helpful friendly knowledgeable snd attentive, the whole meal we feel comfortable snd very enjoyable. Next year will come again when she graduation ceremony.

From the second we arrived we were made to feel welcome and cared for. This was a celebration meal for a promotion and the card on the table was a lovely gesture, which I will treasure. I explained at the start of the meal that I wanted to have the wine tasting experience aswell, however due to medical reasons I am unable to drink that much alcohol. We were offered the chance to have 1 glass of each shared between the 2 of us. Each The food was out of this world, I felt like I should try everything, including the marmite butter, I am not sure what sort of wizardry they had done but I actually loved it! The whole experience was amazing unique experience, well worth spending more than you would normally.......

Wonderful 70th birthday celebration. Treated royally by professional approachable attentive but not overbearing staff who provided expert explanation of all courses at the appropriate time. The flavoursome food was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection everything was a highlight, high level cookery, the Chefs at this establishment are top notch. My birthday experience was both recognised by our servers and enhanced sincerely with a superb miniature chocolate & passion fruit cake which I very much appreciated.

We visited Thomas yesterday for my birthday and were so impressed. The staff were friendly and welcoming but very knowledgeable about the menu and wines. We ate from the a la carte menu and every dish was perfect, so tasty and a very high standard. Lovely touch to serve me a complimentary dessert with candle and a birthday card hand signed by all staff. We finished in the bar area where we had fun chatting with the bar staff and the best espresso martini I’ve ever had. Would definitely recommend a visit and we will be returning.

The Heathcock is a charming restaurant located in the enchanting area of Llandaff in Cardiff. The restaurant takes pride in using locally sourced ingredients, offering a diverse and rich culinary experience. Their menu changes daily to ensure fresh and seasonal dishes that are best enjoyed through their sharing plates. The restaurant has been praised for its delicious food, making it a must-visit dining spot in the Welsh capital.
Me and my partner visited for the first time yesterday after a from a friend! The seemingly typical British pub on first appearance truly dazzled us! The restaurant was quiet and well laid out, the staff were extremely attentive, well mannered and helpful.. and the food …we had the tasting menu and it was stunning! The chef seriously knows how to put flavours on a plate!! Will definitely come again 👏🏻

This is a very good place. I went there with no booking-and was seated in the bar area as the restaurant was full (a good sign). I was able to choose from the full menu which was fantastic. I had a main course-rabbit in bacon with a small rabbit pie and a side dish. It was totally delicious. This place on a Wednesday seemed to be doing really really well-like its sister restaurants I imagine in Bristol and Vale of Glamorgan (which I’ve been to twice-fantastic). Definitely want to return to.
Robert S — Google review
The food was outstanding — I had a three-course meal, and each dish brought something different, with bold flavours and clear attention to quality. It was obvious that real care had gone into both the ingredients and the preparation. The service was faultless. Staff were attentive without being intrusive, and the pace of the meal felt calm and unhurried. While some people have mentioned the wait between courses, I actually appreciated it — it gave me time to enjoy each dish properly and made the whole experience feel more considered. The only real disappointment was the lavatories. They were in poor condition and in need of a proper refurbishment, which felt out of step with the otherwise high standards throughout the restaurant. That said, this is somewhere I’ll absolutely be recommending to friends and family, and I’ll definitely return for a special occasion. A fantastic meal, thoughtful service, and a lovely atmosphere — just let down by one detail that hopefully won’t be overlooked for much longer.

The food here was amazing! So deserving of their recognition and I was super impressed by the service. They were highly considerate of allergies/dietary restrictions and had a good selection when it came to wine etc. The prices are reasonable, and as such super good value. I can highly recommend visiting this place!

Greatly enjoyed the tasting menu. Service, atmosphere and food were all fantastic. Very accommodating as we had some special dietary requirements. Faultless evening. Make sure you're good and hungry before you go as the portions are generous for a tasting menu. The menu included welcome drinks and no supplements for any items so overall was pleasingly good value for money. Will definitely come again.

Such a great place! The food was amazing, as was the service. The staff were very friendly and professional, from the welcome, to stopping at the table to top up glasses of wine whilst collecting empty plates made it a 5-star experience.

Great quality food at such a reasonable price, we had a lovely visit to the Classroom in Cardiff. The wine list is extensive and the cocktails we had were great. The added bonus of far reaching views over Cardiff made for a lovely lunchtime. Thanks to all!

A truly fantastic venue showcasing excellence in fine dining in all aspects. The food was cooked to perfection with astonishing precision, each flavour and texture perfectly balanced with great skill. Service was friendly, attentive, and helpful, which added to the excellent evening spent here. With fantastic drinks on offer, and a broad panoramic view from the windows this is a.must visit venu! With the reductions in price due to the staff being in the process of being trained as part of their qualifications, this is fine dining at a more affordable level than most! Would strongly recommend.

Located in the Cardiff and vale college on the 5th floor. Modern interior, airy. Nice views and sunset for dinner. Service by Eastern European waitress both robotic and curt. Food selection limited. Portion massive: all courses. Tuna tartar was good but on the tasteless side- Under salted. The lamb was excellent- Came pink and would like it to be. Good accompaniment. Stick toffee massive portions and too much to finish- good dish. Variable cocktails- negroni. The apple martini was undrinkable. Good value for money for the size of the portions. Good option for dinner. Service could be a bit more Friendly, less judgmental and less Robotic.

Welsh restaurant
Milkwood is a charming neighborhood cafe and restaurant situated in the stylish Pontcanna suburb of Cardiff. The restaurant offers contemporary Welsh dishes using locally sourced produce, including ingredients from suppliers like Cardiff Salad Garden and E Ashton Fishmongers. The menu features delectable options such as buttermilk fried chicken-topped waffles for brunch and Cornish cod with cauliflower for dinner.
My boyfriend and I visited cardiff last week. We decided to go to Milkwood for breakfast, as we had been recommended to give it a try. My boyfriend had the breakfast bun, and I had a full English breakfast. The food was amazing, and the chef brought our food out to us. We would definitely recommend it to others and when we go back to Cardiff we will be going here again. Lovely staff, great food 👌 😋

First time visiting this place for late breakfast as we wanted to try Welsh dishes. We didn’t book a table but they were very accommodating and found us a table for two. I ordered bacon, cockles and laverbread on toast and it was very good. I will definitely return and would recommend to try.
Palida S — Google review
Serious scran. The real deal. Ordered the Milkwood breakfast and each piece of food on the plate was banging. The standout for me were the hash browns, which were the crispiest I've ever experienced. I exited here with a full stomach and left behind a clean plate, knowing that one day I'd be back.

I may have finally found my Cardiff brunch spot. Milkwood in Pontcanna absolutely nails it. Big bright space with loads of natural light, retro gold signage and a buzzing, friendly atmosphere. Walk-ins only, but we got seated straight away even with the weekend crowd. There is seating inside, cosy corners at the back and plenty of space outside if the Welsh sun decides to show up. The Milkwood Breakfast is no joke. Sausage, bacon, poached eggs, toast, crispy hash browns, roasted tomato and buttery mushrooms, plus I added extra halloumi and garlic mushrooms. It nearly defeated me, but totally worth it. Big hearty portions, everything cooked properly and the ingredients actually taste fresh. The menu’s stacked with tempting options and there are plenty of veggie and vegan friendly choices too. I kept seeing the buttermilk chicken pancakes landing on other tables so they’re firmly on my list for next time. The drinks? Game-changing. Best iced latte I’ve had since landing in Cardiff. Smooth, balanced and exactly what my caffeine-deprived self needed to rejoin society. Their iced tea also knocked it out of the park. Super refreshing, fragrant and ideal after a good stomp through Pontcanna’s parks. Staff were lovely, efficient, and made the whole experience feel easy. Bonus points for being easy on the eye too, just an observation. Between the cracking food, chilled community vibe and proper coffee, Milkwood’s officially my new go-to.

Been here several times. We always love the food and service is consistently brilliant, however today in particular was really busy, but Lille was attentive, kind and was still smiling and chatty despite the rush. Food and drinks came quickly and we didn't feel rushed at all. Overall Lille made sure we had not just a lovely breakfast but a thoroughly enjoyable experience today. Thank you! <3 P.S best mochas in Cardiff. X

Ramen restaurant
Japanese restaurant
Matsudai Ramen is a popular Japanese ramen spot in Cardiff, known for its epic bowls of flavorful ramen and delicious fried chicken. Founded by ramen enthusiast James Chant, the restaurant has garnered rave reviews from food critics and customers alike. The menu features a variety of ramen options, from the garlic-infused Vampire Slayer tonkotsu to deeply savory miso.
I’ve been following Matsudai since their early pop-up days, and then became an avid kit enjoyer until their restaurant opened. I unfortunately moved away in ‘22 and after 3 years finally found myself in the area! I came with high expectations and they were exceeded. I stand firmly by the statement that Matsudai is STILL some of the best ramen I’ve had outside of Japan. I had the Shoyu upgraded to Tokusei (deluxe) it was so flavorful and amazing just like I remembered. I only wish I still lived in the country to enjoy Matsudai more often..
Lady V — Google review
Below mediocre; we’re unsure as to how it has maintained such a high rating. Would avoid. The countertop was sticky and the service was somewhat slow despite the relative lack of customers (it was late in the evening). The pacing of dishes was good. The chicken karaage was the highlight of the meal, and perhaps the only recommendable dish. The chicken was juicy, crispy, tender — everything you’d expect — and paired nicely with the curry mayo sauce. The mini chashu don was underwhelming for £6. The rice was barely seasoned and the grains didn’t stick to each other, unlike traditional Japanese rice. The chashu itself had a nice smoky flavor but it wasn’t particularly seasoned either, meaning the overall dish was bland. The iekei-inspired ramen was average. Although the broth was too salty, it still had the depth expected of pork bone broth, and the chashu was tender (albeit very thinly sliced). Unfortunately, the shoyu ramen had no redeeming factors. The noodles were slightly undercooked, nearly crunchy, and the broth was exceptionally salty yet somehow simultaneously flavorless. Both dishes were lukewarm when they arrived, likely because they had been waiting for a while on the countertop before a member of staff finally delivered them to the table. We couldn’t finish either bowl. Nothing is more heartbreaking than spending a decent amount of money on disappointing food and service, and this place is expensive. To add insult to injury, one member of staff held out the tip machine, turning it so that he could also see our choice, and watched judgmentally as we pressed No Tip (having been put off by the entire dining experience and the additional 20% VAT). Do look elsewhere if you’re searching for a satisfying meal.
Keon ! — Google review
I’ve been craving a good ramen for a while now but couldn’t find a proper Japanese ramen spot in Cardiff. Saw a lot of recommendations of this place on TikTok, and i’ve been wanting to visit this place for months. Finally made it today as i finished work early and decided to stop by for dinner. Not sure if it was because its Halloween and they had limited menu, but luckily the Tonkotsu ramen was still available- exactly what I was craving. For the starter, I ordered the yuzu-cured gurnard, not really knowing what to it is. It came out sashimi-style and honestly? It was so good — delicate, fresh, and perfectly balanced with the citrus flavour. Then came the Sunset Tokotsu Ramen — and wow. The broth was rich, packed with umami, and not bland at all. The noodles were cooked perfectly — nice and chewy, not soggy, which I really appreciate since they tend to soften quickly in hot broth. There was only one dessert on the menu, the matcha crème brûlée, and at first I thought of skipping it to get dessert elsewhere. But i’m so glad I stayed — it had a deep, authentic matcha flavour, not too sweet, and a beautiful finish to the meal. The total came to about £36, which honestly made sense considering I had a full meal - starter, main, and dessert. For the quality, and flavour, I left the restaurant satisfied. Overall, everything was excellent — the food, the service, and the pace. I went alone without a booking, was seated quickly, and my food came out fast and hot. Had the perfect dinner — comforting, flavourful, and exactly what I needed. Definitely coming back again 😋🍜

I lived in Japan for 2 years and visited so many ramen restaurant but I never seen this short ramen noodle. I asked the manager that the noodle size is ok or not. He said it is standard but the other staff member told me it is not. The manager was super rude and ramen was horrible. I can say this ramen is not authentic, specially you cannot find this kind of noodle in Japan.

We were recommended this place and we’re definitely not disappointed - delicious food and friendly service. Also lots of great veggie and vegan options - the chef was even so kind as to tweak one of the dishes to make it vegan friendly. Highly rate!
Saskia S — Google review
The ramen is really good. The noodles are high quality with a great bite to them. I opted for chicken topping which was absolutely fantastic and melts in your mouth. The broth was really amazing too although for me a little unconventional. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Cardiff. Their karaage and gyozas were top notch too.
Mohamed ( — Google review
Their ‘iekei inspired’ Yokohama style ramen was pretty solid all round. Noodles, broth, toppings and all were pretty on point. I also ordered a second bolw, a regular shoyu ramen and that was a letdown. The noodles were tremendous broken to the point you could just spoon them from the broth. I’ve voiced comments about the noodles to one of the waiters who so kindly checked with the chef. The reason given was they over stirred the noodles. This is akin to having chopped up spaghetti which is a cardinal sin in Italian cooking. Check out the pics. Overall, I’ll definitely be back for more but I’ll stick with their iekei ramen.
Bertrand N — Google review
Although I've had ramen many times this was an enjoyable experience Matsudai style! Things were unusual & new to us, so we appreciated the waiters help. We were seated in a dark area due to another customer having an issue with bright light & after requesting a candle things seemed a bit less gloomy. From the layout / wooden chairs & benches/ vibey music / open kitchen & noise from customers this isn't a quiet place!! The food was yummy, not cheap but tasty. It's not quite in town and we had a 30minute walk across the city to it & the area has many multi cultural shops & restaurants. If you're in the mood for Ramen & don't want a restaurant chain...then try this!

Restaurant
Casanova is a discreet 2-floor restaurant in Cardiff that offers modern techniques applied to regional Italian cooking. The menu features a variety of starters like mackerel and new potato salad, beef dripping bruschetta with anchovies and fennel, and spiced black pudding with celeriac puree and apple sauce.
Amazing great food. I had wild mushroom risotto, then hake plain grilled/fried in a soup/stock with peas, broad beans, asparagus, pancetta. I loved it and will bring my wife here. Best Italian food I've had for a long time.

This is a lovely, clean, traditional, independent Italian restaurant, with an intimate atmosphere and attentive staff. We went for the set lunch, and found the quality of the food to be excellent, and the portion sizes to be just right. Our wine was served perfectly chilled, and the coffee was outstanding. Just two things, the tables are very close together, so you don't get a lot of privacy or space during your meal, and also, they offer no dairy alternatives. Otherwise, excellent 👌

Sat upstairs, beautiful and cozy atmosphere. The service was impeccable, I felt cared for by staff. The moment I sat down I had water poured for me and a glass bottle left on the table, which staff immediately filled when empty. The bread and olives were delicious. Our mains arrived just as we finished our starters and they looked perfect. I ordered the Ragu and was not left disappointed. It was the most flavourful pasta I've had in my life, the lamb was incredibly well cooked and had not one ounce of fat, the Pecorino cheese the most amazing pairing. The Pannacotta was absolutely divine it had the most rich cherry topping and delectable almond praline. This is an amazing restaurant and I would recommend this strongly to friends and family.

We arrived 20 minutes late to our reservation, but the staff were extremely accommodating and efficient. Menu was seasonal with some regional classics. The Rotolo, Pesce, and Canolo were all highlights with reasonably priced house red. Atmosphere was welcoming and warm.

Been planning on going to Casanova for a couple years now ever since I heard about it from people that know more about food than me. I am pleased to say the hype is real this place is probably one of the best meals I have ever eaten I have no bad comments to say about Casanova I took my girlfriend there for her birthday and we had the chefs tasting menu each, every single dish we ate was incredible and surprisingly satisfying, so good I would’ve licked the plate if It wasn’t such a nice place. The staff were lovely however, I can not stress enough how incredible the food was, the only regret I have is I didn’t order more food, I will be going here again and again this is on the top of my list of places to eat in Cardiff. Did not disappoint in food, drinks, staff, venue and vibe. 10/10 if I could give 6 stars I would. Thank you Casanova.

Bar 44 Cardiff is a stylish bar-restaurant located near the Millennium Stadium, offering a refined selection of Spanish tapas. The venue features decorative Spanish elements and vintage Tio Pepe adverts, creating an elegant atmosphere. The menu includes daily-changing one-pots and traditional dishes like Galician fish stew and slow-cooked meat-and-chickpea concoction cocido.
We had an excellent meal here and it couldn’t be improved. Each dish was amazing and not too pricey, with quality ingredients. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and happy to answer any questions. The atmosphere was warm and cosy - couldn’t recommend enough.

The most perfect way to spend an early evening or lunch. The 3 tapas and a drink for £22 offer is outstanding value for the quality of food you get. I’ve been all over Spain and the U.K. and other than in very few Spanish places, it has to be the best tortilla I’ve had. Runny and gooey like it’s meant to be, not stone cold and dry like a lot of U.K. places. The chicken was so soft and tender. Machego with honey.. need I say more. My only criticism is they might want to invest in some kind of sound proofing as it does get very noisy. Otherwise definitely coming back!
Victoria P — Google review
Loved the authentic Spanish tapas here. Each dish felt thoughtfully crafted, and the flavors reminded me of being in Spain. The staff were knowledgeable about the wines — a fantastic dining experience overall.

A fantastic tapas bar/restaurant! We opted for the early evening menu which offers a drink and 3 tapas for £24 which we found to be excellent value. We enjoyed every dish and also the red berry sangria very much. Portion sizes were generous for tapas at the price point. We could easily have ordered more but decided to go for dessert, both of which were again, excellent. Very tasty food. If we return to Cardiff we will definitely try the sherry flight tastings which also looked good value! In short - lovely surroundings, friendly staff, excellent food and a great choice of dishes. Highly recommend.

We arrived without and booking and were welcomed by Gemma, who was really accommodating and offered us a big table even though it was a Saturday evening. We ended up taking one for two as it was quieter, but the flexiblity already made a really good impression. Gemma knew the menu inside out and made exellent recommendation on both food and drink. This was the type of service you normally only get in the US. Every dish was amazing (shrimps, fish, anchovy cesar salad, artichoke, blue cheese and Basque Cheese cake) and the house sherry and brandy excellent. This is the best dinner I have had this year. I would actually come to Cardiff to eat here agin, The food and drink is better than Spain!

Booked this restaurant at very short notice and were easily accommodated. When we arrived, we were very taken in by the beautiful decor. Lovely restaurant with good food. Not the best Indian ever but decent quality. The staff was very polite but unfortunately, the service was a bit slow. Went for our anniversary - arrived 15 minutes early which was our fault so waited at the bar with the loveliest most incredible bartender!! He was the most positive part of our experience offering us a taster of a sherbet mocktail alongside our cocktail and cobra!! (You know who you are!!!) he recommended a place called cocktail club so please find out and reward him xx When we were sat we ordered with a lovely lady (blonde) again service wise, amazing!! Unfortunately after waiting a while for our food it came, and we were quite disappointed with the taste of the food. I feel so sorry for the kitchen that have to follow the recipe provided by the chain, as I’m sure the chefs could make better themselves! Therefore this poor review is not a reflection on ANY OF THE STAFF, but the franchise and brand MOWGLI itself. We are young and therefore so hesitant to complain, yet when the lovely blonde lady came to check on us, we showed a small amount of dissatisfaction in an awkward and unfortunate interaction, to which she asked her manager to comp the whole dish (£16!). She also offered us a dessert but unfortunately we decided we had to be on our way. Thank-you SO MUCH to all the staff who are NOT a reflection of MOWGLI’s poor poor food and catfish online!! I can now presume the promotional social media I’ve seen is entirely false and PAID PROMO… Thank-you so much to all the staff today, and I’m sorry that this business’ poor food is burdened onto you.
Alexandra B — Google review
I've been to Mowgli a few times now and it's always really nice. This time we visited on a Wednesday so it was considerably more quiet than on the weekends and the atmosphere was much nicer, it didn't feel quite as crammed! We went for the Platter for 2 which is plenty of food and it includes ice cream/sorbet. We had 2 chicken and one paneer dish, the Ginger Chicken being both of our faves. The chat bombs were also a big hit, they're the perfect palate cleanser between curries. We also tried a couple cocktails, a very well made Espresso Martini and the Chili Mango Margarita which ended up being the spiciest thing on the table! It's a bit disappointing that all the curries seemed to be very mild, we were expecting at least a bit of heat but can't complain too much as it is completely up to the chef which curries you get. Service was excellent right up until the end where we got the bill and I said I'm happy to pay straight away but the server decided to give us "5 minutes" so after 20 minutes we just got up and paid at the bar.

Shopping Malls
The Cardiff Market, a Victorian shopping mall with two levels, has been a vibrant part of the city since the 18th century. The market is filled with merchants and food stalls, offering a variety of local culinary delights such as Welsh cakes cooked on cast iron griddles. The historic structure features a soaring glass roof and exudes a friendly atmosphere. In addition to exploring the market, visitors can also enjoy nearby attractions like the National Museum Cardiff and indulge in street food at Cardiff Indoor Market.
fantastic spot to explore, offering a variety of fresh produce, local goods, and unique finds. The atmosphere is vibrant, and it’s a great place to support independent traders. I came early, so many of the shops weren’t open yet, but it was still a pleasant visit. Definitely a must-visit if you're in Cardiff and looking for something local and authentic!

You can find a variety of stalls there: foods, books, bags, souvenirs, fish… I tried Welsh cakes from a stall run by very sweet ladies. They were delicious! Also, I realized I forgot to bring my lock, and I found one there and bought it. Imagine how diverse the market is. 😅

Love the great food options here and the decent attempt at gentrifying a very cool old building & market. It sadly is still rather filthy and is still a little short of the mark compared to some other (foodie) markets around Europe. That being said, I’d come back thanks to the delicious food (kudos to the Neapolitan pizza, Greek gyros and Welshcakes). If they cleaned this place up a bit it’d be 5-star level.

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Cardiff Cardiff Market is a vibrant, historic gem that offers a real taste of local life. From the moment you step inside, you’re met with the buzz of traders, the aroma of freshly cooked food, and a genuine sense of community. Whether you’re after traditional Welsh cakes, vintage clothing, handmade crafts, or fresh produce, there’s something here for everyone. It’s a fantastic place to grab lunch—don’t miss the roast pork rolls, the fresh fish & chips, or the classic Clark’s pies. The vendors are friendly, full of character, and clearly passionate about what they do. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The market building itself is beautiful, with its Victorian architecture and glass roof letting in lots of natural light. It’s not just a place to shop, but a place to experience Cardiff’s culture, history, and everyday charm. A must-visit for anyone wanting to see the real Cardiff beyond the tourist trail!

An absolute gem in the heart of the city! Cardiff Market is the perfect blend of historic charm and modern energy. The Victorian architecture gives it so much character, and the atmosphere is always buzzing without feeling overwhelming. There’s a fantastic mix of food stalls offering everything from Welsh cakes and fresh seafood to bao buns, pierogi, and loaded gnocchi — something for every craving. I had one of the best casual meals of my trip here. Beyond food, there are also stalls selling local produce, flowers, books, and quirky vintage finds. It’s spacious, welcoming, and full of personality. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, Cardiff Market is a must-see spot that captures the spirit of the city.

What a pleasure to behold, all the market stalls: fruit and vegetable stands, fish markets, sweets, nuts, restaurants... In short, a town shouldn't exist without a central market.

Brilliant market, with fresh fruit and veg. Food stalls downstairs and upstairs, seating is limited though. The cake stalls are amazing especially the Welsh cakes, it's a must visit when I'm in the capitol. One of the better markets to visit in Wales 👍

Nestled on Church Street, Bacareto has quickly become a beloved spot since its opening last year. Drawing inspiration from the charming bacari of Venice, this cafe bar offers a delightful array of coffee, pastries, tramezzini, and panini during the day. As evening falls and 'Aperitivo hour' begins, Bacareto transforms into a vibrant hub filled with cicheti to accompany refreshing ombra or Spritz cocktails.
Really delicious food, loads of vegetarian options and delicious wines. Really well priced for the quality of the food and varied flavours! Second time we’ve been and it’s better than the first!

Great service. Sat at the bar, dining on my own and the staff made me feel welcome. Great food suggestions. The small plasters were delicious and appetising. The chef excelled and the pistachio gelato (homemade) was sublime as was the pizzertte and everything I tried. Will definitely go back next time I am in Cardiff.

This is one of those 'have a vermouth and a bowl of olives places'. One of my favourite types of restaurant in the world. So good. Staff are really friendly and helpful. The menu is amazing. The drinks are great: lots of riffs on negronis and amaros and aperativos etc. Beautiful food, properly made. There was a real buzz about the place. Thoroughly recommend.

My colleagues and I went for a meal here on Wednesday night. We sat in a booth which was comfy and we ordered basically one of all of the tapas on the menu. It’s Italian tapas and I really enjoyed it. My favourite dish was the arancini. Each dish was nicely presented and tasted really good. It was flavour combinations I’m not used to so enjoyed seeing what things were and everything was nicely balanced. We drank the wine (see pic) which was very tasty. Recommend it! Overall I had a pleasant experience there. I’d go again. Even by myself. Would say best for upto four people.

Great food, good service, nice wine & reasonable prices. We tried several small dishes here, and all were tasty (especially the wild mushroom polenta and the pea pancake with asparagus). The wine was good. We also had decent coffees with delicious gelato (I highly recommend the mint stracciatella and charcoal peanut butter flavours). Service was friendly and reasonably quick. Lots of plant based options and seasonal stuff, which is nice to see.

Absolute beacon of Cardiff. Fantastic atmosphere, truly one of a kind. We had the Bella Modella to share which was beautiful along with some sourdough to snack and it created a great ambiance. One of the best spots in Cardiff for a date, catchup or a group outing, highly recommend.

Viva Brazil Cardiff is a chic Brazilian restaurant offering a unique dining experience with its rodizio style service. The restaurant features meat carvers who move from table to table, serving 15 sizzling types of meat for guests to sample. The warm and welcoming decor creates a comfortable atmosphere, while the enticing aromas of the meats add to the overall experience. In addition to the variety of meats, Viva Brazil also offers a vast salad bar with diverse sides and traditional Brazilian dishes.
First time here and I loved the idea of it. Unfortunately the atmosphere wasn't great because they places us next to a huge group of noisy drinking lads when there were other tables. The table layout was also stupid because the side was curved not cornered so your chair doesn't fit behind the table unless its tucked in (without a person). It meant having to sit awkwardly out into the walkway.
TheKaKaNow Y — Google review
We had a fantastic meal at Viva Brazil Cardiff. We were a party of eight celebrating an anniversary on a Sunday evening. The dinner menu was just under £40 per person and included around 14 different meats plus the choice of lots of side dishes. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and we did not have to wait very much at all between servings. You help yourself to the side dishes and the staff come around frequently with new choices of meat to try. You have a coaster that you display to let the staff know whether or not your table is ready for a new choice of meat to try. I really enjoyed the Picanha steak and Rump Steak. The crispy fried polenta and mashed potato were also excellent sides. The food was plentiful, so make sure you are hungry before you come to the restaurant. I really enjoyed the evening out and would recommend.

I had the cod fish with bell peppers and potatoes as my main dish. It was delicious. While I waited for my order to come, I went over to the salad bar got me some garlic mashed potatoes (yum!), peas and corn and tomato salad. I enjoyed every meal I had. Great lady host and considerate serves.

Still a great place 6 years after my first visit. Lots of great choice. Went for the unlimited and once you done the 14, you can request more of whichever meat you liked the best. Lovely choice on the buffet section too, mash super good, garlic spinach and loads on chimichuri on tap. Service was great. Lovely family feel. They DO NOT stop! Proper hard workers. Like a meat marathon to all the tables. Super friendly and thoughtful to those who like the burnt bits more than the pinker. Lamb was especially surprisingly good. Couple of the meats we didn’t ask for back hence 4 starts but mostly superb. Tip, get a few slices each time as you will get gristle in some slices. (To be expected) Pineapple kept being called back for more as that is on another level! Thanks for still being great. 👍

Never been to a restaurant quite like this with a unique dining experience! We managed to try all 22 meats (just) and the variety is amazing! Our personal favourite was the Parisian pork and Tip cheese steak. The buffet had a great variety too, can’t say we ate much of this since trying to make room for all the meats. The servers was great and more than happy to bring more out of your favourite meats. All cooked on the barbecue. Only meat we didn’t like was the lamb unfortunately, was a little fatty for our liking but otherwise we fully enjoyed the rest. Not bad for 21 out of 22 meats. Really recommend

We had a good time here. I guess my standards are quite high when it comes to Brazilian Steak houses as I set my standard for this based on the steakhouses I've been to in the USA. The customer service was very very good. The food will ot disappoint you. The sausages was a memorable moment for us gastronomical.

We've been here several times since it opened and never had anything but a fabulous experience. The sides bar is incredible with a huge selection, which is well labelled with all allergens and the meat is second to none. The service is always amazing with very attentive and polite staff, all of whom were aware of my gluten allergy when they came to the table and advised me what I could and couldn't have. A fantastic meal, full of flavour and variety, what more could you want!
Jen D — Google review
We enjoyed the sides more than the mains, but overall the experience was underwhelming. Service was very slow—understandable given they were fully booked—but it still impacted the evening. Not a fan of having to leave the table to join the queue at the bar to get our own drinks, which took away from the dining experience.

Taco restaurant
Wahaca Cardiff is a vibrant Mexican restaurant located on Tredegar Street in the heart of the city center. It offers a small-plate dining concept, making it perfect for a quick bite or a full meal. The restaurant features stylish and modern decor with ample seating space and a lively atmosphere. One of its highlights is the extensive gluten-free menu, offering 24 options including tacos, enchiladas, and nachos prepared separately for those with intolerances.
Visited on 12 June 2025 and had booked a table for 3 people @ 1800. Never visited Wahaca before, but looked at the menu before visiting. We were shown to our table and told that Miguel would be looking after us. He was fantastic. He asked if we’d visited Wahaca and we said ‘no’ so he went through and explained the menu. My husband changed his mind after the recommendation from Miguel, so he had the platter for one. He gave us plenty of time to choose drinks and then shortly after took our food order (I spoke in Spanish to him when ordering), so we had nice conversations during food being brought to the table and whilst ordering puddings etc. the food was fantastic (I had the sunshine bowl with chicken and our daughter had the club tacos). He asked if we had allergies. We shared Churros for pudding 🥰🥰🥰🥰. Miguel was friendly, courteous and professional and made our first visit very memorable. My husband and I had wonderful Tequila based cocktails and our daughter had a coke. We paid about £90 we thought was great value. Would definitely visit again. I have to say, It was very busy, but people were served quickly and food wasn’t on the pass for long, brilliant staff. Amazing. 😘😘😘🤩😎🫶

Today was our last day of our trip to Cardiff , and we chose Wahaca Cardiff for our final meal — and we’re so glad we did! The lady who greeted us was incredibly friendly and gave us a lovely table upstairs. I started with a margarita which was absolutely perfect. For starters, we had the hummus and guacamole — both were really tasty. For my main, I ordered the chicken & avocado tacos with cauliflower and broccoli on the side — everything was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. I truly enjoyed every bite. Our waitress, Catherine, was absolutely lovely — super kind, attentive, and made us feel really well taken care of. Highly recommend visiting this place if you’re in the area — great food, great service, and a warm atmosphere!

Wonderful as usual! We tried the new autumnal menu and it did not disappoint! Sophie B was our server and was brilliant, attentive and friendly through, along with everyone else who brought food over etc. Wahaca has always hit the spot and this time was no different. Highly recommend the butter bean & confit garlic dip alongside the roast butternut squash and the pork belly. If you’ve come for the drinks the day of the dead special blood orange and hibiscus margarita is magical.

Thank you for a wonderful evening! We had a lovely meal, I had the chicken potatoes ( which were lovely) and veg, my other half had the salmon and pasta, which both tasted good, we had quick efficient service. But tonight for us on Valentines, was about your thoughtfulness and the atmosphere. We loved that we stepped out of a cold, rainy evening into your quirky, warm, clean, surroundings for our reservation. We were told by the staff, we could take the gift on the table, and a balloon when we leave. We relaxed to the beautiful music, and we couldn’t tell when that stopped, and when the lovely lady came out, and started to sing for real. She had such a soft calm voice that didn’t overpower our conversation, and created the perfect ambience. We felt like we were in, our dream of somewhere abroad. We were tired, but you created a lovely atmosphere for us to take a moment to enjoy life. Thank you very much for that, the gift you gave us, and for letting us have a balloon too! Very thoughtful! And just fun! We needed tonight, thank you so much.

I’ve been twice now and won’t go anywhere else amazing and quick service, friendly staff, amazing food never waiting long and always so fresh and piping hot. If you haven’t been here you’re missing out and you need to try because once you’ve tried you won’t be disappointed and will never want to go anywhere else I know I don’t. Our first visit was Halloween for my mums bday they went above and beyond and when they overheard it was her birthday after food they surprised her and came out with a massive slice of cake with a sparkling candle singing happy birthday. We didn’t ask them to do this or even know they were going to. They went that extra mile which made my mum feel so special so an extra big thank you for that. Thank you to all the staff for the most amazing time we have while dining here

AVOID!!!! UNLESS YOU WANT BAD SERVICE! Large group of work colleague visited this establishment for a meal prior to a charity fund raiser the next day but we left hungry and disheartened. We arrived with high hopes, but were quickly greeted with indifference. The host barely acknowledged us, and after being seated, it took over 20 minutes for anyone to even bring us water or take our order — and the place wasn’t even that busy. Once we finally ordered, the food took nearly an hour to arrive. No explanation, no update, no apology. Just long, uncomfortable silence and the growing feeling that we had made a big mistake. When we politely asked about the delay, the server responded with a shrug and a tone that bordered on rude — as if we were bothering them for expecting basic service. Zero professionalism, zero accountability. By the time the food arrived, we had already lost our appetite. The dishes were lukewarm and clearly rushed, but honestly, the service had already soured the whole experience. There are plenty of restaurants that understand how to treat their customers — this is not one of them. Unless you enjoy being ignored, waiting endlessly, and dealing with staff who act like you're the problem, go somewhere else.

Welcomed by a lovely waiter. Service was great. Waiter provided two menus standard and lunchtime special 3 courses for £22 started with prawn cocktail which was standard, I had sirloin was was tasty but obviously reduced size due to discounted menu, finished with sherry truffle, couldn’t taste any sherry but was refreshing. Wife had prawn cocktail and pollo napoletano which was beautiful. Overall average but good quality.

The food is great with a varied selection, though the vegetable portions are small (Rack of Lamb pictured, minus a smaller carrot piece I had already eaten). The Faggots portions are generous, though. The staff are lovely and helpful, and even set a place with biscuits/treats and water for my dog. The atmosphere is great, with a live singer for entertainment (not always, so do check beforehand). I have visited many times and I'm sure I'll be back there soon.

My husband and I dined at Demiro’s for the first time this afternoon. The restaurant was empty at 15:30pm on a Friday, which was ideal for us as we hadn’t made a reservation. The service was to a very high standard - all of the waiting staff were very friendly and attentive and had fantastic humour. The Festive Menu was very wallet-friendly: 2 courses for £16.95 or 3 courses for £20. The drinks menu is also very extensive and reasonably priced. We enjoyed our meal and will definitely return in the very near future.

I Went to Pasture for a second visit on a Wednesday night before a gig as previous been and loved it we brought friends with us. My wife is celiac and honestly from stepping through the door the staff couldn't do enough and explained the menus they have and how they use separate areas in the kitchen. The food knowledge was amazing. Great atmosphere with amazing service and well the burger was great! The Mac n cheese side is the best I have ever had! We do love coming to cardiff, so we will definitely come back again!

Had food this evening at Pasture and to say it didn’t disappoint would be an understatement Take the service out of it (will come to this later) the food itself is just incredible, we opted for 600g of Chateaubriand which comes with 2 sides and 2 sauces. The taste of the food was just second to none. By far the best we have had in a long time Now onto the service 🫶 We walked in and were seated immediately even though we were 30 minutes early. We were welcomed off the street by front of house sparking conversation as if we were regulars (this was our first time) We were then introduced to the amazing Miriam. An absolutely amazing person who not only spoke us through the experience but took interest into why we were there and stayed to discuss our preference when it came to steak, even suggesting that we have the steak cooked slightly under what we like and if it’s to much they would put it back on the grill to make sure it’s perfect. Following the order she came back to explain she had ended her shift and Alexandru would be taking over, not before giving us an appetiser on the house. To say we were slightly gutted she was leaving would be an understatement that was until we met Alexandru who equally looked after us with the same energy and time as if we were the only customers in the room. Our food came out and he immediately came up to us asking if the steak was cooked to our liking as Miriam had explained it might need going back. We had no complaints and were left to the most sensational meal. The whole experience was just incredible and the 2 members of staff made it as if nothing was to much for them and genuinely cared that our food was to our liking. This is the go to place in cardiff if you like steak, good atmosphere and amazing service 10/10 all round 🙌

It was our first time in Pasture and I was celebrating my birthday. Our waitress/host Veronica made us very welcome and was fantastic with a lovely personality. We loved the beautiful interior and ambience of the restaurant. We really enjoyed the Monkfish ceviche and sourdough. My wife had a rump steak and I had ribeye. Both delicious and cooked as requested. The desserts were also fabulous - one chocolate dome and one delice. Thank you to Veronica and another waitress who also served us, the chefs for their wonderful food and the rest of the staff for an amazing experience. We can't wait to go back!

If you love a good steak, Pasture is the place to be! The meat was cooked to perfection, and the open kitchen adds a nice touch. It’s a little on the pricier side, but worth every penny for the quality and service.

Came for our first date night in a while, and it did not disappoint! Super friendly and helpful staff, and our waiter was very clued up on the different cuts of meat and was happy to answer any questions we had. We had the croquettes to start with which were lovely, and then I had the rump for main and my husband had the ribeye. Both were fantastic, cooked to perfection. We then wanted to stay for a drink after our meal so got taken down to a table in the cocktail bar downstairs, which also had a lovely intimate feel and great atmosphere. We would highly recommend this place if you like steak - really good!

Stopped in here on a whim as a party of 3 as a walk in around 5pm on a Saturday evening and they were able to seat us, even though it looked pretty busy, which was great. Service was also perfect!

Nestled in a historic 19th-century mansion on Park Place, Cardiff, Park House Restaurant & Wine Bar offers an elegant dining experience with British gastro-cuisine. Housed in a grand traditional grade 1 listed townhouse designed by renowned architect William Burges, the venue has received accolades for its exceptional wine list. Each dish is expertly paired with a recommended wine to elevate the dining experience.
Andrew the host was an absolute legend, from the phone call booking all the way up until our time there ended. Excellent service with intelligent conversation mixed with good banter. The decor was lovely and in keeping with the age of the building. The food itself was great. Been a long time since I had a tasting menu but I was not disappointed at all and completely stuffed. No surprise this restaurant is in the Michelin guide 👌🏽

I went with my partner for his birthday in February to use a fine dining gift voucher we had. I have to say I was expecting to be blown away but the experience and food but my experience didn’t really meet my expectations. The venue was stunning. We opted for the lunch time 5 course tasting menu and some sparkling wine which was delicious. The restaurant was empty apart from two other tables. The service was quick but staff seemed snobby and rude as myself and my partner were making anecdotes and giggling and were glared at by staff. I didn’t realise it was such a serious place, laughter is a good thing is it not? The staff members also went round and spoke to the other two tables of people but not to us, maybe because we are younger (mid 20s) The food was unique and unlike anything I had tasted before some of which I really enjoyed like the bread and the ratatouille (although it is a cold dish). Some things were not to my taste like the duck with white chocolate dressing. Overall I wouldn’t come back and I wouldn’t recommend it for the price.

Visited for my birthday with my family and had the tasting menu. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The building was interesting and historic and the staff were lovely however that's where the enjoyment ended. The food was really underwhelming. It was presented in a pretentious way, which can be nice on a day out, but it was (mostly) chronically under seasoned and not well cooked. Simple things like, flabby chicken skin. Crab ravioli that tasted more "fishy" than the nice normal sweet flavour of crab, wrapped in a much too thickly rolled pasta. Overall it was disappointing because it's sad to waste a meal out when you could have cooked better at home. It took four hours. FOUR. For a pre-set menu. The furniture was mismatched and the building was in need of some repair and painting.

Superb high end dining with impeccable yet friendly service for our large group of friends. Every dish of their 6 course tasting menu was amazing and the experience even further elevated when paired with their matching wines option. All topped off with a beautiful & sophisticated setting within one of Cardiff's classic Burgess buildings. Not cheap, but a real high end treat.

TLDR: Come for the wine. Not the food. Park House Restaurant, a place so grand, I went with my folks, to take a stand, But it was not to be, it was quite bland. We walked in the door, the staff were polite, But the room was cold, not quite right, We should have worn coats, that was quite the plight, Feeling like a fridge, not quite a delight. The view was nice, of the park out there, But the decor was dull, like an empty chair The food and drink, we hoped would save the day, But alas it was not so, it was a disappointing affair, Mains were unbalanced, flavors all askew, Beef and pork served cold, what to do? Turbot was the best, a balanced dish, But not quite worth the price, my wish. So if you're in Cardiff, and looking for some chow, I recommend The Potted Pig, don't go to Park House now. --- Review Park House Restaurant & Wine Bar After reading about this place on Timeout and seeing the historical Michelin stars I was looking forward to a wonderful meal with my parents whom are hard to convince to venture out. Sadly this was not to be. Though the exterior is impressive that is where our positive experiences ended. We were promptly greeted and seated by staff in a room in cold as temperature as it was in decor. I’ve never had to unironically eat in a fine dining restaurant that required me to wear a jumper and coat to be comfortable. Thankfully there is a nice view of the park, but the general ambiance is lacking with cardboard boxes in the corner and uninspired illustrations of grapes on the wall. The place feels tired and unloved. My hope was the food and drinks would make up for a poor first impression. When asking advice for a Rosé wine the first response I got was an unexpected criticism for selecting a “summer drink”. After insisting describing the profile of the drink we wanted I felt the staff were uninterested and continued to suggest the same bottle with little ability to explain its profile or provide alternatives. The wine was good, but the experience of acquiring it not so much. The food felt very unbalanced in its flavours. Bread with over salted and served with salted butter. Starters were sweet to the point of overpowering with little other distinguishing flavours. For the mains the flavours were better but did have a canteen sense of assembly to them with multiple components reused between the dishes. The beef and pork dishes were sadly served cold to Luke warm compounding our hypothermia. The beef dish was reheated and was certainly decent. I personally gave up on the pork dish half way through - it was fatty, salty, sweet mess of flavours. The Turbot was by far the best and most balanced of the mains. Nothing served was quite worth the price of it. I write this because I believe Cardiffs food scene deserves to be better. A place like Park House is so frustrating because it has so much potential but as I mentioned earlier the place feels unloved. If you are looking for a nice nose to tail restaurant I strongly recommend the POTTED PIG.

Food looks better than actually tastes. Tried their tasting menu (9 courses) with wine pairing and it was somewhat disappointing. Dishes were either over seasoned or little seasoned, never be at the right balance. Tweeks on dishes didn't seem to go well with ingredients. Sadly, there was no dish that amazed me. Wine pairing was questionable too. Service was good though.

The food is great…we had 9 course menu with wine pairing…worth it as added to the experience. Staff very friendly and atmosphere very enchanting

Delicious chocolate dessert with 24 carat gold stole my heart. It is generally an elegant restaurant with tasty food, although the waiting time for the dishes was too long. During our visit there were only two other reservations so waiting for dessert 45 minutes was overkill. It is true that we received an additional gift as part of the apology from the chef, but such situations shouldn't take place. I still recommend.

Located near the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, The Grazing Shed is a popular spot known for its delicious burgers made from local ingredients. This hip and independent eatery offers a variety of options including beef, chicken, and vegan burgers. In fact, it's one of the best places for both vegans and meat-eaters with five different vegan burger choices available. The menu also features unique flavor combinations such as Gorgonzola and smoky bacon or avocado mash and cider apple chutney.
Well, the Grazing Shed has now moved, and it's opposite Cardiff Castle. Revised and reduced menu, but still fabulous. Better even than before. My John Wayne smashed burger and skin on fries were fantastic. They've added chicken to the menu, and I tried some Smokey BBQ. Delicious fried chicken thighs (so much tastier than breast) with delicious BBQ sauce and melted cheese. Highly recommended, alongside a pint or two from the Mad Dog Brewery Co.

Grazing Shed is the perfect spot if you're craving a great burger in Cardiff. The burgers are high-quality and served quickly, with a variety of options to choose from. Just a heads-up: adding chips can be filling. The soda options are unique – not the traditional flavours you might expect, but enjoyable all the same. We tried the John Wayne, the lamb burger (incredibly tasty and tender), and a smashed burger, and shared an unlimited soda. We also ordered chicken wings, which were flavourful, though maybe just slightly overcooked – but not enough to dock a star. The main reason this isn't a five-star review is the price; we spent about £55 for three people. While the quality is worth it, it would be great to see the prices come down a little so we could visit more often. Seating is all on benches, which can be a bit uncomfortable if you need back support – something with better seating would be a welcome improvement. Ordering is straightforward with an iPad system they likely introduced during COVID to streamline the process. However, you’ll still need to check a paper menu to see details on ingredients and sauces, as the iPad interface doesn’t display all of that. It’s a nice feature but could be made more user-friendly. Overall, if you're in Cardiff and looking for a quick, filling burger, Grazing Shed is a solid choice. Just be prepared to spend a bit more than you would at a pub or fast-food spot.

Food was delicious and service was amazing, very friendly staff. Although, the portion sizes were slightly smaller than anticipated, it was worth the price.

Fantastic freshly prepared burgers with lots of different tasty options available. Sauces and buns are also made on site with no additives. We tried two of the most popular burgers on the menu (beef and chicken) and had to upgrade to the dirty fries!

Located on Crwys Road in Cathays, The Hellenic Eatery is a popular Greek restaurant offering a variety of dishes for under 10. This family-run establishment boasts an extensive menu featuring wraps served with tzatziki and chips for just 5.50. With options like gyros, grilled halloumi, sausage, and chicken, there's something to satisfy every craving.

A Saturday evening dinner for 4 to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Food was excellent and not standardised catering. A very Mama Mia atmosphere with a totally customer service orientation made it a very successful event. There were nice unexpected and uncharged for touches that added that added to the feeling of the restaurant valuing our custom. Definitely will be repeating another visit.

Not often leave a review for a restaurant but I must rate this restaurant 10/10. Come to Cardiff for my race and craving for Greek cuisine. It’s really out of my expectations the dish is freshly made not precooked you definitely can taste that. The portions, the food standard and quality are definitely worth the price! They even serve free house sweet treat called Greek Donuts with cinnamon and honey on top. Honestly it’s my first time to try this kind of dessert and it’s sooooo fresh and yummy! Last but not least the staffs are so friendly and kind! I will defo come back again if I travel Cardiff. Thank you!!!

I am visiting from Liverpool and found this place by chance for a pre-theatre dinner. I'm now very sad it is 200 miles away from where I live because the cooking is just lovely! I had their rabbit stifado special (£19.50) and it was one of those dishes which, even as a keen cook, makes you want to hang up your pots and pans because you know you'll never be able make something that delicious. It even had kidneys and livers, and whole juniper berries. My mother-in-law had moussaka; the white sauce was velvety and creamy flavoured with lovely levels of spice. My partner had chicken spits; the chicken was tasty, with a beautiful char, and the pitta was soft, moist, and clearly homemade. The aubergine salad starter was also beautiful. Simple, fresh, tasty, and so much more than the sum of it's parts. Tiny wine list (one of each colour) but we had a bottle of white (£23) and it was delicious and all you would ever need. Service was warm and friendly, and as we didn't have time for desert, they gave us a quick free dish of dough balls, honey, and cinnamons to share quickly, which was delightful. I hope to get back there before I leave on Monday to try their beef stifado with greek pasta. If you are in the area and what something genuinely proper to eat, you would mad to miss this place.

Gaynor H — Google review
I’ve been a long-time customer of The Hellenic Eatery, and while I still enjoy visiting, I’ve noticed some changes on my recent visits that weren’t necessarily for the better. On one occasion, the restaurant was playing non-Greek music, which took away from the authentic atmosphere. Part of the charm used to be the cultural touches — like the TV showcasing Greek places and traditions — which really reinforced the experience of “being in Greece” while dining. Unfortunately, those elements seem to be missing now. Service-wise, the staff appeared to be short-handed. Both times I visited recently, the restaurant was busy, and we experienced long waits for starters and mains. Even after asking for the bill, it took around 10 minutes for someone to bring over the card machine. In terms of food, I did notice some differences in preparation. For example, the htapodi with hummus and the tirokafteri had a lot of oil added on top. The oil sat heavily on the dishes and overpowered their flavors, which was a shame as the ingredients themselves are good quality. Also, the tables near the entrance can get uncomfortably cold at night when the door opens frequently. That being said, there are still positives. The staff remain very knowledgeable about the food, happily explaining how dishes are made and what ingredients they use. The overall atmosphere is still pleasant and welcoming — though it could be improved by bringing back some of the authentic Greek touches that made it so special before.

I’ve been a customer of Hellenic Eatery for a very long time and always enjoyed it, but the new owners are really making it into something special. The last two visits there have ended with complimentary doughnuts for the whole table (and a lovely digestif liquor for me as I’m coeliac). Speaking of, while they don’t label the menu items as gluten free, if you speak to them they will cook your food separately — I asked if their chips were rolled in flour, and while it appears that they usually are, the staff cooked a portion of chips for me in a separate pan. Lovely, friendly jokey staff and absolutely delicious Greek food. The change in ownership has only made it better!

Everything was amazing, starting with the traditional greek restaurant that makes you feel like you're in Greece as soon as you step in. The food was delicious with decent prices. The staff very friendly and they've surprised us with some cinnamon honey glazed doughnuts at the end. It was a great meal and came quite quickly as well. We'll definitely be back again.

We often come to this restaurant. The food and atmosphere are always brilliant, but one of the main reasons we keep coming back is the excellent customer service. The staff are very friendly, especially Mariam, who has served us the last few times. She is always polite, attentive, and very welcoming. I had dinner with my partner tonight . The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The service was excellent — the waiters were friendly, attentive, and clearly doing their best even though the restaurant was quite busy. However, the calm and pleasant atmosphere was unfortunately disturbed by one of the chefs in the kitchen. He seemed very stressed and was repeatedly and quite loudly using the service bell to call the waiters, even when they were already occupied. His behavior came across as impatient and unprofessional. It was uncomfortable to watch, especially since the rest of the staff were handling everything with such professionalism and calmness. Aside from that incident, everything else was wonderful. The food and service were truly impressive, and we would still be happy to return in the future — hopefully next time the kitchen environment will be a bit calmer to match the otherwise lovely dining experience.

Fantastic authentic Indian food. We knew we were going to be in with a treat when we received the obligatory poppadoms and chutneys which were home made and very different to the normal fair you get in an Indian restaurant. The menu is extensive (all vegetarian or vegan) and all absolutely delicious. We left loads as the portion sizes were excellent. The prices are superb (check one of the photos of a menu). The whole meal for two, including a large Kingfisher came to £46. Incredible value.

I was in Cardiff to meet with a dear friend and his wife who were visiting Cardiff from India. Whose diet was vegertrian. I chose this restaurant using the words 'vegetarian restaurant near me'. I was so pleased that I this place. My friends were delighted with the food that was cooked the Maharashtraian way. I chose poori (a fried flatbread), which made in Maharashtraian way (with methi leaves & jeera) served with channa (chickpeas). I would recommend this ... It transported me to my lunchbox during my childhood in India. The service was good. The atmosphere was like a restaurant in India.

Best food place in Cardiff, possibly all of Wales, and potentially better than anywhere in England. I recommend it to all my friends - if they're ever in Cardiff they need to go to the Vegetarian Food Studio. I am an unpaid shill for this place, except they pay me in food when I pay them for food. Filling portions that are full of flavour. Loads of choices. My recommendation is you should have the Bhel Puri, maybe to share as a starter.

On a recent business trip, I really fancied a Gujarati meal. A Google search brought this place up and the reviews looked great....so I thought I would give it a try. (FYI I am Gujarati). The server was efficient and friendly, the resturant has a sort of charm about it. Sadly the food was a let down. I ordered a plain dosa and a mixed platter of snacks, with salted lasi. The lasi was nice (it's really hard to get that wrong!). The plain dosa was not crispy at all. In fact you would expect a dosa to hold up its rolled up shape, not the one that I got.....it was flat, not crispy, and the flavour was only just passable. The plate of mixed small bites was awful....I left most of it. I think the waiter must have thought I was full and offered to pack it for me to take away - I said no thanks. I was genuinely so disappointed, I was looking forward to some homely food, I can't see myself coming back here. I couldn't work out why the reviews were so high, I think all I can put it down to is the the large majority of reviews are from non-gujarati customers, the lack of other options in Cardiff for similar food...... come on Cardiff, you can and should do better. And as for the owners of the resturant, I know you cook better than what you serve at home, do the same in your restaurant so others can appreciate the wonders of Gujarati food like we do at home. I had to grab a subway on my way back to my hotel!

Curado Bar is a cozy spot in the city center that offers Spanish tapas and a variety of wines and gin & tonics. It's known for its intimate atmosphere and focus on Spanish snacks, drawing inspiration from traditional bars in northern Spain. The bar is owned by the team behind Ultracomida restaurants in Aberystwyth and Narberth, ensuring an authentic experience with imported Spanish produce available for purchase at their deli.

I had a really enjoyable meal here last Tuesday evening. We were sat upstairs and the decor is fairly low key. It’s not fancy but it doesn’t need to be. On the way in I noticed some bar tapas so when the menu came we started by ordering one of each of all of the meat ones and a vege one. They were delicious and well presented. We coupled this with some beer and wine. John, our waiter, was super friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the food and wine. Made us feel really welcome and was on hand through the meal when we wanted more. We then ordered a round of hot and cold tapas. The standouts were the chorizo which was sooo soft. The mushrooms were also immense. Loved them. Wanted more! All the dishes were great. The calamari’s was a little dry and maybe needed a dip with it but it was a small footnote. Really enjoyed the meal and would 100% go back again.

I'm not the biggest fan of Spanish food but haven't had any for years so thought why not try some tonight. I looked online and this place appeared to have good reviews so off I went. First impressions was how surprisingly busy it was on an early Thursday evening. It took a while before I was seated. I was seated at the bar first but asked if I could be seated at a table. They gave me an hour as the table was booked, which was more than enough time. There wasn't really anything on the menu that really popped out to me so decided to play it safe and order a potato small plates and a shin beef special. The potato arrived piping hot so I had to let it cool down for a bit. Flavourwise, I personally thought there was too much going on and I'd rather it was a more simplistic affair. I guess this is how it's meant to taste so bear that in mind. As for the beef, that arrived a lot cooler and it did taste quite nice though I wish there was more chucks of beef. The sauce was really tasty but I had no spoon and it didn't come with any bread to soak up the juices so I wasn't sure how best to consume this dish. Though I wish I had picked other dishes, that's not to say the food I did have was by any means bad. Its more likely I don't appreciate Spanish cuisine as much as others do.

A lovely space and the staff really welcoming. The service was warm and friendly, the person serving me was obviously very passionate and enjoyed what they did and you could tell. I went with their selection of a glass of wine and ordered 5 items off the menu. The food is okay, nothing really stood but was tasty, well priced and wont break the bank, perfect for solo dining, as it was good to try a few things. The kitchen had some issues throughout the evening which the team communicated really well, I would very much recommend going and just enjoying the busy atmosphere in a restaurant.

Visited 21st August 2025. Celebrating my wife’s birthday. Had a really enjoyable meal at Curado Cardiff! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. A special mention to Maria, our waitress, who was incredibly kind and helpful throughout the evening — she really made the experience even better. Would definitely recommend and look forward to coming back!

The restaurant has gained a strong reputation for its delicious menu items, including the popular Tokyo Platter which offers a selection of their best sushi. The warm and relaxing ambiance makes it an ideal place to enjoy beautifully served Japanese food at reasonable prices.
Good vibe, food quality is above average, therefore the prices are more than fair. Service was top-notch, food came fast, and the waitresses were available at all times. Have been here a few times already, and every time, I enjoyed my meal and left with a good impression.

Such a lovely little Place, good service & delicious food. The spring rolls were stunning, the tempura crab too & the ramen was not much to look at but tasty. Thanks for a lovely evening

The food is extremely delicious. Salmon is fresh, eel is sweet. Environmental is clean and comfortable. Staff is very friendly. We were late due to traffic, but the staff proactively called and changed the booking time for us. I don’t live close by but I’ll certainly come again.

Food excellent. Service was good but it was cold inside. Had to eat with my coat on. At the door at the back by the fire exit. Enjoyed the mochi with a squeeze jam filling.

Delicious unique flavour combos and BIG sushi rolls that are super fresh. Love everything I’ve ever ordered here and I’ve probably ordered the whole menu I’ve been here so much! Definitely try this if you’re in the area and you love Japanese food 👍

Really good sushi!! Coming from an Asian person✨ the udon is good too - good location - park on cottrell Road then walk! - bit spenny but still better than ones in town - visited several times now!!

This place! Honestly the best sushi spot in the area. The selection is amazing! Much richer than most other sushi places. I love the huge variety of maki rolls. The sushi is soft, juicy, and incredibly fresh (a good vet could probably bring the fish back to life 🤭). Every bite is full of flavour with lovely touches like sauces, mayo, and other tasty details. Once I came a bit late to pick up my order, and (I think) the owner kindly prepared our starters again so they’d be warm, and even gave us a complimentary dessert! Such a thoughtful gesture. Love, love, love this place!

Nestled within the luxurious Parkgate Hotel, The Sorting Room Restaurant is a stunning new gem in Cardiff's vibrant dining scene. Housed in a beautifully renovated former mail sorting room, this upscale eatery offers an exquisite brasserie menu crafted by renowned chef Justin Llewelyn. Guests can indulge in delightful dishes like the Beef Wellington made with 21-day-aged Welsh beef fillet and rich perigourdine sauce.
This had to be the prettiest/daintiest afternoon tea I've ever had. Really enjoyed the savoury options as they are quite often a bit of a let down. The beef brisket slider was absolutely delicious and I could have scoffed another one! Scones were served straight from the oven. They were very light and buttery. The pastries were the most delicate I've ever had. I was expecting them to be rich and heavy but that wasn't the case. The pixie orange lacked the mousse texture that was stated on the menu and could hardly taste the orange flavour. That was the only pastry that disappointed. Service was excellent and out teapots were never empty! Overall, I really enjoyed our experience. Perfect for a special occasion.

Really enjoyed our Easter Sunday lunch experience. The hotel and restaurant has a luxury feel to it and the decor is lovely. The staff were very attentive and friendly and made the experience more enjoyable. We had 3 courses and enjoyed every one, all having different things. The malbec wine was delicious and the cocktails also went down well. Would definitely come again.

Great atmosphere, very clean and modern. Feels luxurious as if it is a fine dining experience. However, the price is much much cheaper. Overall, it is an amazing food and presentation compared to the price. I would highly recommend the visit here! And the staff were extremely polite as well.

My wife was given three course meal for two as a gift. Only a small choice of items on the menu 4 starters, mains and deserts but this wasn’t a bad thing as the food was outstanding. Portion sizes were just right. Service was also great. £11 for two bottles of water and £45 for a decent bottle of wine. My desert wasn’t as expected and didn’t really work, lemon drizzle cake with Eaton mess cream.

Wow! The food here is exceptional. They made my birthday so special with little touches and the service from Kim was amazing, such a caring person who went the extra mile to make my birthday wonderful. The beef wellington is a must and the maple martini was one of the best cocktails I’ve had!

Everything about this restaurant was really good. I use these words specifically. It wasn’t exceptional but it was really good. The menu offers a solid choice of starters, share plates, mains and desserts. Nice wine & cocktail menu. Staff were friendly and kind.

Mo provided great service. We was there at lunch when the restaurant didn’t serve beef wellington yet. A bit off because we went a long way there to try the dish. Mo then managed to get us that which’s very good of him. Food amazing and not too pricey for a combo of starter and main dish. We’ll def come back if we visit Cadiff again. Thanks

Chai Street Indian Restaurant is a casual, quick-service spot offering traditional Indian street food and convenient grab-and-go lunch boxes. Located on Cardiff's High Street with another branch on Cowbridge Road, it's part of the same team behind Mint and Mustard restaurant. The menu features a wide range of authentic and delicious street snacks and main courses at affordable prices. The restaurant also offers outdoor seating for those who prefer to dine al fresco.
We stumbled on Chai St and thought why not! We had a very friendly welcome and the menu was interesting alongside some daily specials. Service was excellent - just enough ‘is everything ok’ but not too much. Loved the decor which included hand made upside down umbrellas and a hand painted mural. It’s a great stop if you’re in Cardiff.

Chai Street - and specifically their chaat bombs - came recommended to us and did not disappoint. Service was the perfect balance of attentive and giving you space to ponder and eat slowly. The food was delicious. We were just after something light so ordered a couple of the small plates to share along with a portion of popadoms. We also had the delicious mango lassi which was unusually but deliciously topped with fennel seeds. There are lots of vegetarian options and a comprehensive allergen menu accessed by a QR code from the physical menu. There is a breakfast/brunch menu which includes dosa, serves until 1pm. All freshly prepared, full of flavour and good value.

We were in Cardiff for a short 2-day break, and after visiting Cardiff Castle we decided to explore the area for dinner. That’s when we came across **Chai Street**, an Indian street-food style restaurant, and decided to give it a try. The service was on the slower side, but once the food arrived it was clear that the wait was worth it. The chef deserves credit—the dishes were flavorful, well-prepared, and really hit the spot after a long day of sightseeing. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal here. If we visit Cardiff again, we’d definitely come back to Chai Street for another dinner.

Me and my cousin came in today, I've been wanting to try it for about 2 years and I was not disappointed! The decor was stunning, and loved that music from Rocky aur Rani was playing as we sat down. The two guys who served us were so lovely and friendly and brought water to the table at the end of the meal for us which I thought was lovely. The food...the food!!! I've wanted to try both pani puri and thali for ages and got to do both today, pani puri is amazing! What an explosion of taste and spice, so zingy and crunchy, gorgeous! And the thali was amazing, both lamb and chicken curries were immense, hands down the softest, richest lamb I've ever had, it tasted so good and just fell apart. The naan was lush and the raita was so tasty, loved the spiced potatoes too. So much food and it was gorgeous! 10/10 all around, defintiely recommend if you're in Cardiff, best Indian meal I've ever had 👏👌👏 🙏❤️🙏

Went there yesterday only to eat Vadapau but found out they had changed the menu and it was not there anymore. Asked the staff about it and they were so accomodating and told us they could get us Vadapau. Initially ordered two portions but since it was absolutely delicious, we went for a third portion as well!! 😂 Really hoping they bring it back to the menu. Pani puri was yum too! The staff there was extremely friendly and welcoming and kept on checking up on us every now and then :)

This dog-friendly venue invites guests to savor lunch, drinks, or small plates inspired by modern European cuisine from Tuesday to Sunday. Nestled on Wellfield Road in Roath, Silures is the brainchild of two industry veterans who have previously worked at prestigious establishments like The Savoy in London.
This is one of the top restaurants in Cardiff. Me and my partner booked this restaurant as we like to explore new dishes and this place did not disappoint. We went for a la carte dinner. Everything exceeded our expectations. Ideal for date night. Would highly recommend and would definitely return.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Silures in Cardiff, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I stepped foot inside, I was greeted with warm and friendly smiles from the staff. The ambiance of the restaurant was cosy and inviting, creating the perfect atmosphere for a delightful meal. Speaking of the meal, the food at Silures truly exceeded my expectations. Every dish that came out of the kitchen was a masterpiece, bursting with flavours that left my taste buds dancing with joy. The menu offered a wide range of options, ensuring there was something to satisfy every palate. What impressed me even more was the reasonable prices for such high-quality cuisine. It's not often you find a restaurant that offers such a fantastic dining experience at such affordable prices. The staff at Silures played a significant role in making my visit memorable. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about their craft. Their friendly and accommodating nature made me feel right at home, and their recommendations were spot-on. I simply cannot speak highly enough about Silures. If you're looking for a restaurant that combines delicious food, reasonable prices, and a welcoming atmosphere, then look no further. Silures is the place to be. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

When you first enter Silures, it feels like an elevated pub but lo and behold, you will soon be transported to a fantastic, mouthwatering and well curated dining experience when you ascend the stairs. Never one to shy away from an expensive menu, I did find some of the entrées to be a bit overpriced. Having said that, we thoroughly enjoyed everything about the meal, including the soft lighting and intimate decor on the first floor. I highly recommend this restaurant when in Cardiff.

My wife & I had another amazing evening at Silures. We started with cocktails in the quaint and private garden. Our meal was in the main restaurant which is wonderfully decorated. We always start our meal with olive oil sourdough, which is amazingly grilled without a hint of oiliness. The Buffalo Burrata was a starter we tried as well and worth a mention. Go to mains for us are the fillet steaks which are always perfectly grilled with amazing sides. Silures is a gem in the heart of the city on Wellfield Road and highly recommended for quality of drinks, amazing food and a great ambience.

Such a beautiful restaurant, we went to Silures for a birthday meal with a large group. Had the prawns to start, sea bass for main, and basque cheesecake for dessert. The prawns and sea bass were delicious, the cheesecake wasn’t the best basque cheesecake I’ve ever had, it could have been more creamy. I was really impressed with the mocktails, they weren’t just fruit juice, actual thought has gone into creating this menu. The waiters were amazing, the only reason I’ve marked down the service is because there were quite long waits in between courses and I appreciate with a large group this does happen, but even the desserts took 30/40 minutes to arrive and only a few of us had them. I would definitely go back, top quality food 👌
Alanna D — Google review
We visited Silures last year for our anniversary dinner and were genuinely impressed, it set the standard for special occasions. The team went above and beyond, with a personalised anniversary card and a celebratory cake on the house. It made us feel truly valued, and we couldn’t wait to return this year. Unfortunately, our recent visit was the complete opposite. From the start, the service felt inattentive and disorganised. Staff seemed unsure about the menu and unable to provide any helpful suggestions. The manager, who eventually came over, was polite and seemed to care, but our main server remained disengaged and unfriendly. We even had to ask to place our order, despite clearly being ready, the servers were preoccupied relaying tables next to us and avoiding eye contact. At one point, they disappeared to stand in the hallway, out of sight entirely. It wasn’t until my girlfriend leaned over and waved to get their attention that we were finally able to order. The food itself was fine but didn’t justify the experience. The duck portion was noticeably small and left me feeling hungry, especially given the restaurant’s pricing and reputation. There was no check-in once our food arrived, and after our plates were cleared, we waited around 15 minutes before anyone offered a dessert menu. We had planned to stay for another drink, but as soon as we declined dessert, the bill was placed on our table without a word — abrupt and frankly rude. We mentioned our disappointment to the host on the way out and were met with a blunt apology. Steps of service clearly need to be re-taught to the team, as the experience fell far below the standard Silures once set. Such a shame, especially as it’s within walking distance and used to feel like a special local treat. I’ve always recommended this restaurant for special occasions, but after this visit, I’ll be suggesting elsewhere from now on.

Haven't been here for a while, was in the area so popped in for dim sum. Under New management I think. Lucky we were early as it was busy and queuing by the time we left. Celebrated my sister's birthday here, the garden gnome looking homunculus is all grown up ( words of my nan in our language). Great food whether British Chinese or traditional, also heard they got good dim sum, will have to try that.

Nice afternoon spent with friends and family yesterday. We have had popular dishes and dumplings. Delicious meals and very well presented! One of the dishes was really spicy 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Not really enjoyed the rest of the flavours because of that but we should warn you about the spiciness as if you are not used to as weren’t than better no to order it. We mixed it up with rice my friend diluted with water- nothing helped so be careful about that! Delicious chrysanthemums 🍵 Recommend to come with someone that knows the dishes. No pictures for each dish to have an idea what it looks like. Translation in English for the dishes but still not enough to get the idea of what that will be. Beautiful location not very visible from the car but accessible. Recommend booking. We’re going back to taste even more.

Almost exactly what you want from a dim sum (they do other stuff) restaurant. Some of the dishes had a slight twist (the custard baos had a pink filling) but you'd have to be a pretentious dim sum goer to turn them down. In a retail park so plenty of parking.

Scaramantica Pizzeria, a trendy eatery known for its handcrafted pies and refreshing cocktails, is an ideal destination for pizza enthusiasts. Led by the renowned Tony Frawley, this establishment specializes in Neapolitan-style pizzas cooked to perfection in a wood-fired oven. With an array of traditional and innovative flavor combinations, their pizzas are flawlessly charred and bursting with taste.
Scaramantica Pizzeria is hands down one of the best pizzerias in Cardiff! From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by a cozy and inviting atmosphere, with a friendly staff that makes you feel right at home. The pizza is simply outstanding – the crust is light, airy, and perfectly charred, just like a true Neapolitan pizza should be. I tried the “La Scaramantica” pizza, and the combination of fennel sausage, goat cheese, truffle honey, and walnuts was an explosion of flavors! You can tell they use high-quality, fresh ingredients, which makes all the difference. On top of that, they have a great selection of cocktails and wines that pair perfectly with the food. The service was fast, professional, and super friendly. If you’re a pizza lover, this is a must-visit spot in Cardiff! I will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!

Hands down one of the best pizzas I've had in Cardiff! My partner and I had been meaning to try this place for a while, and since moving back to the area recently we're really glad we did. Lovely atmosphere (it smells divine, all those fresh pizzas being cooked!), lovely service, and lovely food. First we shared a bruschetta starter, which was nice and light, but I definitely want to try the garlic focaccia and arancini next time! For our mains I had the Parmigiana pizza (the one with aubergine), which was DIVINE. My partner, being vegan, had the Vegana pizza, which he very much enjoyed. I couldn't finish all of mine, so they kindly boxed it up for me and it was just as good reheated the next day for lunch! 👌🏻 We shared a bottle of white wine whilst we were there, and finished up with a shot of limoncello as a nice palate cleanser. Sadly there were no vegan options for dessert, not even a simple sorbet, which is a slight disapppintment in restaurants now. That being said, we very much enjoyed our meal here and will definitely come again. We made a reservation on the website beforehand, which was very straightforward to do, and it was nice being given the option to sit inside or outside when we got there. Also - the toilets are lovely and clean! ✨️ I can't recommend this place enough for delicious Italian food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. 🍕🥂

Little Kochi is a charming Indian restaurant in Cardiff, founded by Albin Sunny, who was inspired to share the flavors of south Indian cuisine after receiving incredible feedback from a friend. The restaurant offers authentic dishes prepared by Keralan chefs using spices directly from Keralan farmers. The menu is carefully curated, offering a range of rich and delicate flavors with thoughtful accompaniments and presentation.

Would prefer to reserve the table, and it can become bit busy. I would surely come again if I pass through Cardiff. This restaurant is for people who wants to spend some time together and have food and not for people who are in for quick bite.

Hands down, one of the best food experiences I’ve had in a while. The pork starter was incredible I’m a fan already! The beef with porotta was absolutely to die for, rich and flavorful, and the fish curry (Allepey style, I think) was outstanding, perfectly balanced with spice and tang. The ambience was warm and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. It was my graduation day, and the team at Little Kochi made it feel extra special with their service and food. Truly an unforgettable meal I can’t wait to go back!

During a recent trip to Wales, my friends and I had the opportunity to dine at Little Kochi, and it was an experience that far exceeded our expectations. Although we are based in London and accustomed to dining at South Indian restaurants, Little Kochi truly stood out, offering some of the best South Indian cuisine we’ve had, surpassing even what we’ve enjoyed in London. The restaurant was spotless and welcoming, creating a perfect ambiance for a relaxed evening meal. We started with a selection of appetizers, which were well-prepared and offered fresh flavors. While the starters were enjoyable and provided a good start to our meal, it was the main courses that really took the spotlight. The appam and beef curry, in particular, were absolutely outstanding. The depth of flavor and authenticity in these dishes were remarkable, showcasing the rich culinary traditions of South India. The balance of spices was impeccable, and every bite was a true delight. It’s rare to find such exceptional South Indian food, even in London, making Little Kochi a hidden gem. The service was just as commendable, with attentive staff ensuring a seamless dining experience. The team was courteous and professional, adding to the overall positive impression. In summary, Little Kochi is an exceptional find, especially for those seeking authentic South Indian flavors. The combination of outstanding food, excellent service, and a warm, clean environment makes it a must-visit. We will definitely be returning on our next trip to Wales, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the area.

Thai & Asian Delish cafe, located in Cardiff Market, has been a staple for years, serving up authentic Thai dishes like red and green curries, massaman, pad krapow, panang, and Tom Yum. The food is cooked fresh to order and offers great value. Visitors highly recommend the pork noodles and appreciate the friendly service from the staff.
Fantastic food. Apologies my photos don’t do it justice. Ordered prawn pad Thai, was asked to wait about 15 minutes as it’s cooked from fresh. About 12 minutes later opened a box of yummyness. Piping hot, great balance and full of flavour. The noodles were sumptuous and the mix of vegetables complemented the prawns throughout. I loved it. Sat on the counter by the hatch. Wasn’t great but did the job and was in the hustle and bustle of the market. Will definitely go again!

They only offering take-away services, there were four stools available but there were more seatings in upstairs. Authentic Thai food by Thai chef continues to impress with its delectable offerings, generous portions and reasonable prices. We had Thai Red curry with Chicken, Thai Green Curry with Chicken and Pad Thai with Prawns, the Thai flavours served here never fail to impress. The Thai Red curry was very hot and delicious. Friendly staff, the entire process from placing order to collecting it was remarkable swift.

A nice big portion of curry and rice. It's not singing to me, but if I was on a lunch break nearby, I wouldn't be queuing around the corner for a cold sandwich, I'd be going for a hot curry, absolutely.

Lovely little Thai takeaway in Cardiff market with some of the best Thai food I've tasted. Freshly cooked authentic dishes, generous portions and good value. Really impressed. Usual favourites green and red curry, pad Thai, stir fry noodles etc..10-15min wait but worth it for hot, great tasting meals. Not much seating but just find some seats upstairs on the balcony area. Sorry for the half eaten food pics (..it was full..) but I couldn't wait 😋 definitely recommended

Delicious Thai food cooked by Thai chefs. The green curry is chilly and sweet, should try. There are only four seat for dine in, but you can find more seats on the market first floor.

Best Thai food in Cardiff. Staffs are Thai and they do cooking the real Thai flavor, also they are sooooo friendly when they knew where we came from😂 The flavor is wonderful, food is enough and the price is so low. You won't regret👍🏼

staff were super friendly and very kind, the food was very large and absolutely worth the little price they ask for. we got a veggie pad thai that was absolutely amazing and easily the best one we've ever had. will absolutely come back and i highly recommend coming. service was a little slow but considering the small size of the kitchen and the fact that there were only two staff members, we are absolutely not complaining. the location is so cute and the food is delicious considering it's just in the middle of a market. will be back.

Excellence value authentic Thai curries. I usually go for the massaman or the penang. Both are spicy and fragrant. The sticky rice is tasty but I go without. I use this tactic so I can eat loads of the delicious curry. Super fast service and really friendly staff

Great to have a Michelin starred restaurant in the capital city and we'll deserved. You can see and taste how skilled and passionate the chefs are for their food, in every well created delicious dish. Felt welcomed from the moment we walked in the door and was well looked after. Exceptional dining experience all round, will definitely be visiting again.

Sensational experience! Food was exceptional, seasonal, varied, simple in presentation but complex yet well balanced in flavour. So many stand out dishes, but for me the scallop was the best I’ve ever eaten and my first taste of mutton was very delicious! Service was very friendly but attentive without being intrusive. The staff expertly talked us through our wine pairings with interest and passion. We had a wonderful evening at Gorse and highly recommend it!

A jewel of a restaurant well deserving it's Michelin star. Every detail is thought through with fastidious attention to detail. The food is innovative, and delicious. We had the four course set lunch which started with a seaweed broth that was light and fragrant and set the tone for the courses to follow. We can't wait to return to enjoy the more extensive tasting menu.

An amazing culinary experience. So many fantastic Welsh flavours. Highly recommend the paired wines. Excellent service from the staff and great to be able to see the chefs working their magic. Every single dish was delicious.

Just a phenomenal experience. Yes, you are paying a premium over other good quality places in Cardiff, but other than that this is worthy of it's Michelin star, with a variety of local, original dishes (we had the 7 course tasting menu), friendly excellent and knowledgeable service and staff, a lovely venue and just tasty tasty food! Look forward to our next visit!

Having first visited during their pop-up at Ground Bakery, I was so happy to see Gorse receive a Michelin star in the first year of opening. We opted for the 10 course taster menu and were not disappointed. There was a lovely flow of flavours through the menu and some lovely treats such as Welsh lobster, monkfish and Salt Marsh lamb. Service is relaxed and friendly but also knowledgeable and helpful. This is a great addition for Cardiff, and does Pontcanna proud. Highly recommend!
Leonie M — Google review
Amazing experience. We had a ten course dinner and everything just perfect. Specially love the main, cod, welsh lamb and lobster. Definitely come back next time. Thank you Tom!

Easily my favourite set course lunch I've had this year. We came early and the place was empty but the staff seemed excited to serve us and were super engaged with the menu and making sure we had a nice time. Cocktails were unique and delicious twists on classic mixes - highly recommend The David. The food was stunning, in terms of presentation, taste, quality, and overall experience. The favourite dish when we went was the deer, which was delightful and a great portion size. You'd be hard pressed to find anything this good at this price anywhere else - the £35 pp was worth every pence. Highly recommended and I will be back for dinner!

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Cardiff, Brother Thai has emerged as a standout gem in the city's street food scene. Spearheaded by Andrew Chongsathien, this roti bar offers an innovative twist on traditional Thai cuisine. Their signature flaky and buttery rotis are a must-try, generously topped with bold flavors like sticky spicy beef and roasted jackfruit. Complementing these delightful wraps are enticing sides such as crispy mushroom larb and delectable Thai fried chicken.
They have really yummy food. My favourite are coconut ice cream and fried chicken. I would highly recommend you to have a try the fried chicken which is special. I never had same style at other restaurants. Their fried chicken use chicken thighs.

We've been here many times and it delivers the same amazing results every time. Food is always hot and fresh and rammed to the gills with flavour! The beef roti and waterfall salad are always a high contending choice for me and the flavours work so amazing together. Keep up the awesome work guys 👌🏼

We were greeted by one of the chefs and definitely a credit to the restaurant. The food was amazing, we had never tried Thai food before and this was one of our favourite places that we visited in Cardiff. We need more brother Thai restaurants around the country. It was so good 👍 Even though parking was difficult to find for longer than an hour, we definitely recommend 👌

Delicious, authentic Thai food. They were quite busy (Sunday lunchtime) and couldn’t seat me right away but they called me back about 20 min later when a walk-in table become available. And I’m so glad they did because I enjoyed the meal and friendly service.

If you’re looking for an authentic dining experience with food that speaks for itself, Brother Thai is a must-visit. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to return to again and again. The atmosphere was relaxed yet full of life, with the gentle buzz of happy diners adding to the charm.
Thilini — Google review
It was fine I guess. Definitely not bad but I don’t understand all the hype around it. Had the sticky beef roti. Packed with flavor but the beef was chewy to the point my jaw hurt. The cucumber salad on top was refreshing and the perfect addition to the rich beef. But the paratha/roti was frozen. For a restaurant who serves this as their signature dish, you would expect it to be made in house. We also had the red curry with rice and that wasn’t as nice, it fell flat. Incredibly oily due to the coconut sauce splitting and it just ended up causing this unpleasant texture.
Rush R — Google review
Food was tasty but I do feel it’s slightly over hyped. I had the beef roti and wontons. The beef was a tiny bit on the chewy side and quite greasy but flavours were good overall.

My favourite restaurant in Cardiff! I’ve been multiple times and I love it more every time. The Satay chicken rice bowl is incredible, the chicken is so juicy and full of flavour. Staff are great and the general atmosphere is nice too. Little garden out the back in the summer. And it’s SO affordable!

South Indian restaurant
Tukka Tuk Canteen is a delightful spot that aims to recreate the charm of South Indian roadside eateries. The menu offers a wide variety of options, including tasters, small plate-style "short eats," and traditional banana leaf meals. The bone marrow varuval and parotta are highly recommended. Visitors are greeted with the vibrant aroma of spices and sizzling street delicacies, creating an authentic experience reminiscent of bustling Indian streets.
I recently stumbled upon Tukka tuk canteen, and I must say, it’s a true delight for anyone who craves authentic Indian street food. From the moment I walked in, the vibrant aroma of spices and sizzling street delicacies transported me straight to the bustling streets of India. Food: The food here is simply outstanding. I tried the Kerala fried chicken& Bombay fries and the Crispy chicken balls, and both dishes were bursting with flavors. The Kerala fried chicken had the perfect balance of tangy, spicy, and sweet, and the crispy chicken balls were rich in flavour with a hint of spice that made every bite more irresistible than the last. Each dish felt like it was made with a lot of love and authenticity. Service: The staff were warm, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. They were more than happy to make recommendations and even customise the spice levels to my preference, which I really appreciated. Ambiance: The place is cozy and vibrant, with a decor that reminds you of a bustling Indian bazaar. It’s casual, comfortable, and perfect for a quick bite or a relaxed meal with friends. Value for Money: The prices are very reasonable considering the quality and authenticity of the food. You get a lot of bang for your buck here, with generous portions and rich, flavorful dishes. Overall: If you’re a fan of Indian street food or just want to experience something new and delicious, I highly recommend Tukka tuk canteen. It’s a hidden gem that’s sure to become a favorite!

West Pizza in Grangetown, Cardiff is gaining popularity for its gigantic and floppy pizzas available for pre-order and collection on Fridays and Saturdays. It has become a favorite spot to meet friends due to its affordable prices, casual vibe, and delicious pizza offerings. The place offers paper-thin style pizza slices with the option to buy dips. Customers appreciate the Welsh-speaking staff and the unique touch of using Welsh alphabet lights for table numbers.
Amazing place, can't remember the pizza I got last time but I can't have dairy so get vegan cheese. It was my fault when I asked for the pizza 'Cochyn' this time around, I assumed it was the vegan cheese margarita because it said 'NO CHEESE', which I thought was a funny way to say vegan cheese, like similar to the fake names like in the supermarkets, but I got home and it's only a pizza base and tomato sauce. It's definitely my fault but I'll definitely ask next time 😅 Love the place and the pizza, best pizza place in town!

Absolutely perfect pizza - served both by the slice and whole. A great lunch after a walk around Pontcanna Fields. Still yet to have a bad slice and it's always worth getting a seasonal special when available. Flavour is top notch and never any issues with the distribution of toppings! Special mention also to the cookies and basque cheesecake often offered at the front, leaving you compelled to add them to your order.

This is a great new Pizza place, by the slice or a full 18 inch pizza. Really tasty paper thin style pizza slices, dips available to buy and table has pizza condiments ready. The individual slices are well priced at around £3-4 per slice. Place has a great vibe, nice and chilled with plenty of seats available. Parking is a struggle, would advise parking nearby and walking to the laundry quarter.

In my humble opinion, the best pizza in Cardiff. Taking someone who's eats like a little bird? They do pizza by the slice. Taking someone who can smash an entire pizza? They offer an 18". Great specials and delicious dips. You can also get yourself some merch!

Hiraeth is an independent gastropub run by Andy Aston and Lewis Dwyer, offering a changing tasting menu and a la carte options in a cozy setting with fireplaces and wooden ceilings. The restaurant gained approval from the Michelin Guide and holds double AA Rosettes. It recently opened at Victoria Park after the closure of Nook, adding a taster menu to the area's dining scene.
What an amazing meal. The restaurant is slightly out of the centre of town, quite small but with a lovely atmosphere and food that is well presented and delicious. We had the seven course tasting meal. Each course was delicious. They had made a few pre arranged changes for the non meat eaters and these were superb. Well done and I cannot wait to return,

Brilliant August set menu. We’ve eaten at Hiraeth three times now, twice at the new spot and our most recent visit really showed they keep upping there game. Great front of house staff who were very good at explaining the dishes and wine parings. Highly recommend going for the pairing it made the experience even more enjoyable. Bream with curried hollandaise, prawn toast and tiramisu notable dishes we really enjoyed. Thanks for a great evening, keep up the good work. We’ll be back for another monthly menu and for the breakfast at some point!

Wow! Greeted by the friendly staff whom talked us through our menu options. We were a party of three but only one wanted the wine pairing, not a problem. We all had the six course taster menu but due to an allergy, one member was allowed to swap this dish for one on the snack menu. The food was superb and most dishes were actually served by Andrew himself which was a lovely touch. Each course was fully explained prior to presentation. I have walked out of establishments like this before feeling hungry. Not at Hiraeth. Each dish compliments the previous one and you leave fully satiated but not uncomfortably so. Superb food, great staff and lovely personal touches from Chef Andrew.

Have had several takeaways which were delicious with fab creative flavours, so we decided to try and go in person today. We checked their website, google opening hours and instagram before and all said open. Cafe Citta is a charming, family-run Italian restaurant known for its home-cooked dishes and cozy atmosphere. Run by Adriano D'Arezzo and his wife Diana, the restaurant has gained a reputation as one of the best Italian eateries in town. The open kitchen adds to the inviting ambiance, with customers often comparing it to dining in their nonna's kitchen.
One of the best Italian restaurants I have ever visited, it should be since I've been planning on going for 15 years now, such a small place, but with an excellent, authentic atmosphere. Will definitely come again, although always remember to book in advance as there's only 13 tables.

We tried one of the day's specials - the Pasta Salmone, and it was delicious. Service is always super friendly and quick and It's got a brilliant cozy vibe. Compact inside when busy. If you can get over (/avoid) that or sit at the tables outside, 101% worth it. Very busy days? Book ahead or consider being flexible with timings. Still reading? After three friends recommended Cafe Citta, a mere two years later (edit: just read recent other reviews and saw another person who waited too long!), we went as a family for a celebration. Teenagers' tastes were covered with resultant smiles, (1x Normal) Adult's choice was wide as well 👍 Eager to return. (1x) Picky father's narrow criteria led to three strong choices . (Two were recommended beforehand.) Portion, taste and texture spot on. Looking forward to the next time. (Carbonara?)

The starters, mains and desert, we ordered, were fantastic😋!!! Full of flavour, and moreish yet satisfying. Quite a small place but fun and intimate. Italian is my favourite food ever, I have tried many places. I was a bit worried to try somewhere new and this place did not disappoint. The best pasta dish I have ever tried! And so reasonable for the price! Many chain restaurants in Cardiff charge more, and I will never go back to somewhere else after trying here! I live an hour away, and still plan to travel next week to attend this restaurant, as it is my new favourite place. Such a hidden gem down a small backstreet in Cardiff 🥰

It is an institution in Cardiff for Italian food. You must go here if you want great Italian food. They are small and cozy but the food is so delicious. Everything we ate was spot on. We have been going here for so many years and it has never disappointed us. The food is fresh and tastes so good, it is always very generous with portions and the deserts are so amazing. We really enjoy our visits here and they give excellent service. The swordfish was tender and juicy, my chicken was juicy and the flavours were amazing. The pasta was so fresh and tasty. The starters the eggplant was very hot but the cheese and sauce was what you want. The Panna cotta was so smooth and rich, the berry sauce was sweet and flavorful. The tiramisu the cream was so fresh and rich I loved them both. If you found this helpful please press like. Thank you Went back today and the food was very good. Just one annoying thing they gave us the bill for four people 102 pounds and than took it away and charged us more 111.20 I wasn't too impressed by this which was the only thing that let them down.

Chapel 1877 is a unique Welsh restaurant and bar located in central Cardiff, housed in a beautifully restored chapel dating back to 1877. The venue seamlessly blends the historic medieval chapel with modern artistic elements and contemporary dining. The interior boasts ornate and exuberant decor inspired by French-Italian designs from the 1800s, creating a sophisticated atmosphere for visitors.
I was really lucky to walk in and manage to get a table without booking. It was pretty packed when I left. I was given a table by the kitchen area where I could see the live view of the chefs cooking our dishes. The restaurant is based in a chapel converted. Really feeling the coziness in the restaurant and romantic for sure in the evening. Food was superb. really enjoyed the scallop pork belly starter although I could see the dish was served in different presentation for other tables - guess the head chef is trying to get the best presentation of that dish. The steak was alright, really rich sauce to go well with the steak. The lamb was lovely cooked, juicy and tender medium rare 😋. Didn’t go with dessert as I was full but my overall experience here was fantastic!! Please do book this place for any celebration or romantic dinner.

Good selection on the menu and wine. Everything is done very well. You are looked after by the staff room start to finish. In the city centre at the bottom of Churchill Way. Very easy to get to and only a couple of mins walk to the St David 2 shopping centre. Well worth a visit. This was our first time for a Birthday treat. Will be going again soon.

Came here to try a higher class of dining on a student budget, so booked and ordered from the bar menu. Was quite busy with people coming and going mainly for a drink (Monday night). Staff were friendly enough, although there was no drinks menu which made ordering at the bar quite awkward. Food came quickly, and tasted great, but was maybe a smaller portion than I would have liked for the money - probably due to the level of cooking in fairness... Some slight confusion (that came across as reluctance) when using a voucher code, but overall really lovely food with decent service and a ln interesting location.

Calabrisella Canton is a classic Italian neighborhood restaurant located in Cardiff, offering a variety of traditional Italian dishes such as pizza, pasta, and mains. The restaurant is open all day from breakfast to dinner, attracting locals for morning espresso and evening wine. Known for its huge thin-based pizzas, Calabrisella Canton is owned by three friends from Calabria who also operate a gelateria on Cowbridge Road East.
Calabrisella were incredible as our wedding caterers. We’ve long been huge fans of their restaurant, where we had our first meal as a couple together. It was the perfect choice for our special day. Every detail was meticulously handled and they took care of all our catering needs; a beautiful canapé spread for cocktail hour, a two-course sit-down meal, our wedding cake, a dessert table, and a pizza van for the evening. Our guests were absolutely blown away by the food; everyone raved about the exceptional quality and generous portions—no one left with an empty belly! Salvo, Angelo, and the entire team took excellent care of us, offering a bespoke and delicious menu tailored to dietary requirements, including allergies, vegetarian, and dairy-free options. The tasting session was brilliant, and Chef Domenico was amazing; the food quality was outstanding and the plating on the big day could easily rival that of a Michelin-starred restaurant. The canapés were beautiful and our wedding cake—a classic Italian sponge with fresh fruits and cream—was a huge highlight. They even crafted a stunning dummy cake for photos that perfectly matched my inspiration pictures. The dessert table was exquisite, and every sweet treat looked as good as it tasted. The waitstaff on the day were professional, attentive, and ensured everything ran smoothly. The communication with our venue, Insole Court, was also seamless, leaving us stress-free throughout the process. Calabrisella’s team put so much thought and care into every aspect of the catering, it truly made our day unforgettable. Whether you're planning a wedding or any other event, book them—you will not be disappointed! Grazie ancora Calabrisella! Photos by Imogen Eve Photography.

We moved to Cowbridge Road East a few weeks ego and I need to tell you it's our favourite pizza so far. We tried 2 other places first, but Calabrisella is way better if it comes to pizza choice. I have gluten intolerance, but I felt ok after (which I always do in Italy after pizza) so from time to time I will treat myself to their pizza for sure. Highly recommend.

We absolutely love this place for its delicious, authentic Italian food! It's popular for a reason, and you can taste the quality. Plus, the staff are so warm and attentive. They make you feel right at home!

The delivery was fast. The sauce and dough were very tasty, however there was a lack of toppings. I had paid extra for chicken and mozzarella and as you can see there was very little there. This was a shame as everything else was good the toppings that were there tasted great.

Cannot recommend this place more!! The food was delicious but the service was what made the experience so memorable. Every waiter was so lovely, helpful and attentive which makes such a difference! We had the burrata and Bolognese arancini which were both fab. The calzone was massive, had the perfect amount of filling and the dough was great too. The homemade pasta was the star. Definitely worth visiting asap!

Absolutely phenomenal food; every plate I saw looked fantastic too!

Really reasonably priced, fresh and tasty Italian food. Casual Cafe style setting. The arancini starter was delicious, the lasagne was fresh and a perfect size portion! The dessert was so fresh and light! The Staff were friendly and welcoming, really nice that they brought water to the table without us requesting it! Will definitely return 😊

I have been a regular customer of Calibrisella for over a year. The food is always good, and I love the fact that all pizzas have the option of being a calzone. I first tried cannelloni from Calibrisella. I have now managed to go to Sicily and try the local food directly (not just for review purposes). These guys have got it spot on. Eating the amazing food while on holiday and knowing I can still have it in Cardiff, makes me feel a special kind of privilege. Calibrisella is known in Cardiff for good Italian food, and with good reason.

The Botanist in Cardiff is a unique gastropub-style dining experience that offers a striking interior and a spacious outside terrace. This cocktail bar serves an extensive range of botanical cocktails, including seasonal options and custom creations by their mixologists. The food menu features an a la carte selection, Sunday Roasts, and their signature Hanging Kebabs.
Highly recommend the Triple Hanging Kebabs (Chicken, Lamb & Halloumi!). Food, Service, vibes were amazing. The decoration is insane, a real nice rustic jungle aesthetic. Highly recommend. The live music is pretty amazing! Went on a Saturday night and it was one of my favourite places to visit!

The Botanist Cardiff is an absolutely stunning venue with a fantastic atmosphere that really sets it apart. The interior is beautifully designed and there is a gorgeous feature that truly makes the experience feel unique, a stage surrounded by a lake, complete with live music, which adds an elegant and lively touch to the evening. It is the kind of place where you want to sit back, relax, and soak in the ambiance. We came here for drinks and food and were really impressed with both. The cocktails were well made and beautifully presented, with attention to detail in every glass. I tried a couple and each one was smooth, flavorful, and nicely balanced. That said, they were on the expensive side, at just over ten pounds each. This is fairly standard for a premium city centre bar, but it would have been nice if the prices were just a little more accessible so more people could discover this place. For food, we ordered the hanging kebabs and they were absolutely amazing. Perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. We also went for the sharing option, which came in at around forty two pounds, but it was more than enough for two people and definitely worth it in terms of taste and portion size. The presentation was eye catching and it arrived at the table looking every bit as good as it tasted. Service was friendly and attentive and everything came out in good time despite the place being busy and rather late. Overall, this is a fantastic spot for a treat or a special evening out. It is not the cheapest option in Cardiff, but the quality of the drinks, the food, and especially the setting all help justify the price. I would happily return and recommend it to anyone looking for a vibrant and stylish night out, just be ready to spend a little more than average. Excellent beer and wine selection also!
Dewi G — Google review
Very creative drinks and cocktails, and a very nice selection of non-alcoholic options too. The venue is absolutely delightful incredibly beautiful. The food was very nice as well. All of the small plates ordered were tasty and the large kebabs and the botanist bowl were all very much enjoyed. The biggest issue really was the service, the weight staff seemed unenthusiastic and not particularly friendly. Our table felt a little intimidated by our waiter who had slightly rudely laughed at us when we were taking a little while to order he would clean empty tables before taking away our plates we just felt slighted in a way, he seemed rude. The kitchen also made a few clumsy errors, there was no pomegranate in a pomegranate couscous salad and falafel was not initially present in the botanist bowl despite being a crucial part of the meal. This was fixed in the end. We also felt it wasn’t justifiable as they were very quiet that it took so long for our order to be taken. On a different night, this could a very easily be a five star review. We just felt slightly put out by the front of house staff, the service was really not there.
Kian G — Google review
Everything about The Botanist is lovely. The staff, food, atmosphere, and a big emphasis on the drinks. Monday through Friday from 4 to 7pm you can enjoy happy hour, I certainly did. With a nice price and a 2 for 1 deal, you certainly get all the drinks you need. I was there celebrating a family members birthday and they went above and beyond, including a decorative dessert board. The hanging kebab you’ll find no where else, it definitely doesn’t disappoint. This is a perfect place to have some nice photos at your table or the bar with its greenery and low lighting. Be mindful of all the steps (there is an elevator). The staff are also very understanding about arriving a few minutes late to your reservation time. Definitely make a reservation if possible. Earlier in the evening you should necessarily need one, but better safe than sorry to miss out.

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting our family from Asia at The Botanist, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. I had requested a simple note saying “Welcome to Cardiff,” but what we received was so much more—a beautifully decorated wooden plate with the message thoughtfully written on it, accompanied by a delicious brownie! It was such a heartfelt surprise, and our guests were genuinely touched. The staff were incredibly attentive, professional, and clearly passionate about creating a memorable experience. Every detail, from the ambiance to the service, was spot-on. We’re so grateful for the warm hospitality and can’t wait to return to The Botanist to host more of our loved ones in the future. Thank you for making our day so special!

Came to the lovely botanists tonight for my best friends birthday, it was absolutely amazing! All of the food was so delicious, and the ambiance was lovely. The live music was so much fun, it felt like a party, and the lead singers voice was incredible! Ethan took care of us all night and made sure everything was perfect! Would 100% recommend!!

Cantonese restaurant
Located in a medieval building dating back to the 15th century, Summer Palace Restaurant has been serving authentic Chinese cuisine since 1988. The owner, Mr. Chim, has created a unique cooking style by modifying ancient recipes from the provinces of Canton, Peking, and Szechuan. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes including stir-fried scallops and Mongolian roasted lamb, as well as vegetarian options.
The food there are very delicious Chinese cuisine. Their service is very good. But you have to make a reservation in advance. Otherwise you will get disappointed if you walk in with no booking.
Karen K — Google review
The vibe and service was really good. We didn't have a reservation so we were lucky to have gotten a seat. The food was decently portioned and good for the price. However the restaurant loses a star for the absolute mess of fried rice. It was rice for £3. The Chicken curry sauce was also very grainy like it was made from a can. Overall good! But a little overhyped in my opinion.

Went here two months ago. The most amazing Chinese food, sharers were nice too Very friendly service. First time we had been here and was very impressed. We will booking a table again in the next week or so. Looking forward to it already.

Managed to get a reservation here for my wife's birthday in mid appril, was really looking foreward to it! Unfortunately my wife was ill so we were unable to go, so luckily i managed to get hold of restaurant and cancelled! Now for the past couple of weeks I have tried to rearrange a time to go but it has been impossible to get through on the phone as the answer service keeps saying the log is full! We would love to be able to comment on the summer palace restaurants but unfortunately can't!!

Excellent food, friendly and helpful staff at all times - whether dining in or takeaway the food and service is first class. If you haven’t been, then you don’t know what your missing!

Went to Summer Palace twice within a week for two different occasions, one being a big group meal. Summer Palace is really popular and I feel you'd be unlikely to find a table just by turning up (they do offer a takeaway service though which also appears to be popular). Must say the food is very tasty, well portioned and all come out quickly. Over my two visits I've sampled a good selection from the menu and all dishes have been of a good quality. Salt and chilli squid, chilli beef and their King Prawn dishes have been particularly tasty. The waiters and waitresses are all very polite and attentive, and the restaurant itself is nice and cosy without feeling cramped ... no matter the size of your group. Must say that Summer Palace is one of the best Chinese restaurants I have been to in a while, and I would thoroughly recommend visiting it.

Chapter Arts Centre is a vibrant cultural hub in Cardiff, offering a diverse range of international art, performances, and films. The center also features a cozy cafe for visitors to relax and enjoy some refreshments. In addition to its artistic offerings, Cardiff boasts an array of entertainment options and dining experiences. From the Wales Millennium Centre's lively shows to the sophisticated theater productions at The New Theatre, there's something for everyone.
Thoroughly impressed with the space and the services offered. I think one improvement that could be made is to the seating area on the ground floor. It crowds the bar a bit which can quickly become a bottleneck when the venue is busy. The theatre rooms themselves were brill, great to see the sound and stage effects team working behind the scenes at the rear of the seating area. Seating was perfect for a 1-2 hour showing, any longer might be rougher on the knees and back. Staff were super friendly, offered all sorts of recommendations. Beautiful outside seating area with heatlamps provided.

Went to the cinema here and had a drink in the lovely sunny courtyard. The cinema was very impressive and not too hot inside. The seats were very plush but a little bit tight on the hips, leg room was fairly good. I really enjoyed this cinema, highly recommended.

Today I attended an event at Chapter Arts Centre focused on patients, medication, and our health.. bringing together doctors, pharmacists, clinics, advocacy groups, and patients alike. The event itself was wonderful: informative, inclusive, and full of positive conversations about how we can better support one another. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by the venue’s actions. Attendees were asked to leave because the staff were not up to date on what CBMPs (Cannabis-Based Medicinal Products) are. This decision felt deeply discriminatory toward people who rely on prescribed medication for legitimate health conditions. It’s important to remember that the Equality Act exists for exactly this reason.. to ensure no one is treated unfairly due to their health or medical needs. Stigma should never override the law or compassion. Many of us attending were simply trying to participate in an event about health and wellbeing, yet we were made to feel excluded for managing our health responsibly. I truly hope Chapter Arts Centre takes this as an opportunity to educate their team, review their policies, and work toward becoming a more inclusive and understanding venue. No patient should have to fear being discriminated against for their prescribed treatment.

Great venue. All refurbished since I last visited (more than 10 years ago). Friendly, spacious cafe and bar and comfortable cinema screens. We parked a few minutes walk away

Great location and space It's fab they have vynil music evenings. BUT I have not seen a decent exhibition here for the last three years. They always look like random items from the charity shop bin. I went there again today, and they have empty picture frames on display.. Give local artists a chance, employ local people who are in touch with the community.
Oksana Z — Google review
Me and my dad went just for the gallery and we absolutely loved and analyzed the current exhibition. We really like what the artists were expressing and felt the difficulties endured by those immigrant women. It was thought provoking. We got a pleasant and interesting visit. I recommend this place especially if you're into modern art.
Fan N — Google review
I discover this beautiful Centre during my last time in Cardiff. Stop over for a coffee and a cake in the large coffee bar. A wonderful ample room, with a lovely atmosphere, where to socialise over a coffee, but there is much than a cafe: cinemas, theatres, exhibition spaces, studios, etc. Im coming back.
A A — Google review
I've been coming to Chapter for 6 years and it's such a fantastic and valuable centre for arts and culture in Cardiff. The cinema programme is always really interesting - a mix of films that would be shown at the bigger chains, smaller films that I don't see elsewhere, and series/festivals (e.g. animation film festival, short films etc). I've only been to see a theatre show here once but it was great. The Caffi Bar serves excellent food and drink and is a lovely place to chill out by yourself or with friends. Diolch yn fawr to the Chapter team!

Tea house
Breakfast restaurant
Barkers Tea House is a newly opened tea spot in Cardiff, related to the popular Coffee Barker. It offers vintage afternoon teas and a warm atmosphere. The venue is located within Bute Park & Arboretum, housed in a beautifully restored castle-like gatehouse with indoor and outdoor seating options. The place boasts an extensive ten-page tea menu featuring nine different high-quality tea varieties served in cast iron teapots and china cups.
Fabulous tea house and cafe within one of Cardiff’s beautiful arcades. The architecture and decor suit the arcade setting perfectly. The staff are lovely and the food is delicious and also substantial for the price. Recommend and will return.
Rhys P — Google review
Tucked away in the beautiful Victorian arcades of Cardiff, Barker Tea House is a real hidden gem. I stopped in for brunch and was thoroughly impressed – the food, atmosphere, and service were all spot on. I had the eggs Benedict with added avocado, and it was absolutely delicious – perfectly poached eggs, creamy hollandaise, and the avocado was a great addition. Rich, fresh, and really satisfying. I followed it up with a slice of red velvet cake, which was light, moist, and generously frosted – one of the best I’ve had. And of course, no visit to Barker is complete without a proper pot of tea, which was served beautifully in a cast iron pot, and hit the spot. The interior is cosy and full of character, with a relaxed, slightly vintage vibe that fits perfectly with its arcade setting. A lovely spot to unwind and treat yourself. I’ll definitely be back!

I’m hoping to move to Cardiff later this year so have been exploring the city for my favourite spots, and this is definitely one of them! Bakers is so beautifully decorated and the vibe in there is amazing. There is so much to choose from food wise and it all looks delicious, from homemade cakes to pancakes, breakfast items and afternoon tea. The staff are so wonderful, super attentive and friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. I can’t wait to go back and try more from the menu, thank you for a wonderful experience!
Kathryn B — Google review
We arrived and there were two staff members who turned their backs on us at the counter, ignored us and preceded to talk to themselves. Eventually after 2 minutes one staff member finally acknowledged that we were there. Absolutely poor customer service to start off with. We came in for the afternoon tea for 2 pax on a Saturday, we were told to find a seat and comeback with the table number. I told the staff member the number, went back to the table and decided to change the table number. On doing this and I'm not sure if it is customary, but I was told I had to pay up front quite rudely. 10 minutes later a staff member placed a tray with pots of tea, cups and saucers and didn't set the table, they just left it there for us to set up. The afternoon tea itself was great, a credit to the chef. I would of given the experience 5 stars but the front of house staff gave lousy service, so I took 3 stars off this sitting. I gave 1 star back after the girl who brought us our afternoon tea gave us excellent customer service. Afternoon tea food 5 stars. Front of house service 2 stars.
Heath G — Google review
Perfect spot for a coffee (or food) tucked away nicely from the hustle and bustle of the main streets. Cosy atmosphere inside but we chose to sit outside in the arcade 😊 On a re-visit we sat inside and had the avocado and egg on toast. Disappointed to say that the first offering was not up to par, but the staff dealt with it immediately and apologised. Great when staff are supportive in putting things right. The second offering was much better, but still not the best compared to other places - maybe a rethink needed ?
Mark F — Google review
I visited a few weeks back on a Saturday with a friend for a catch up and afternoon tea. It was nice to be able to do it on a whim as they’re walk ins only on a Saturday in a world of pre-booking! I highly enjoyed and it and would recommend and hope to go back myself! Really tasty scones! The afternoon tea was about £30 for two people you get unlimited tea refills. They also had a big menu which contained sandwiches and pancakes I saw being brought out which looked huge! I sat outdoors and there is blankets on the chairs if needed which is a nice touch especially in wales where it’s likely to be cold / rainy! You order inside at the till but my table didn’t have a menu and there wasn’t really anyone around to ask but luckily we looked in advance. It did take quite a long time for the afternoon tea to come out around half hour so that was the only downside but luckily we weren’t in a rush!
Paige B — Google review
Lovely boutique-style coffee shop. Ordered the smashed avocado on toast with egg and it was lovely but the egg was hard. Asked for an extra egg and it came hard as well. Coffee and tea were both really nice. Every server that attended to us looked surprised all the time, as if they were new? Lovely bathroom - really clean and cute decor.
