Pari Mahal is a beautiful and historic spot in Srinagar with stunning views of the city and Dal Lake. The gardens are well-maintained and the architecture is truly fascinating. It’s a great place to spend a few hours soaking in the history and the views. The only reason I’m giving it four stars instead of five is that it can get a bit crowded at times, but overall, it’s definitely worth a visit!

A wonderful historic place with heritage structure. Nice location on a hill top. You can get very nice view of dul lake and Srinagar city from this place. Rs. 30 is the entry fee. Parking is available but limited.

Stayed one night on a houseboat in Srinagar and absolutely loved it. Waking up to the calm of Dal Lake with shikaras gliding past was unforgettable. Our hosts were warm and attentive, and the people around the lake were wonderful. The floating vendors—fresh vegetables, flowers, antiques—were a real highlight and never pushy. Meena Bazaar felt genuinely authentic, with quality items at fair prices. Everything felt safe, clean, and beautifully looked after. If you’re considering a houseboat stay, go for it—one night wasn’t enough. Highly recommended!

This is one of the larger gardens in Srinagar, but also one of the quietest and most empty. There is a pretty big variety of plants in the garden, and although maybe not as photogenic as some of the other ones, I think it might be the best if you're looking for a good walk or a place to relax. The price of admission was fairly reasonable for what you get (I think it was around 200 rupees for a foreigner). Would recommend if you're looking for a place for a relaxing stroll or you have some time to kill.

Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Botanical Garden, Srinagar The garden is decent for a casual visit if you're already exploring nearby places like Chashme Shahi or Pari Mahal. It has a peaceful atmosphere and some variety of trees and plants, though it doesn't feel very well-maintained in parts. The layout is simple, and there are open green spaces which are good for a relaxed walk or a short break. There isn’t much in terms of rare botanical attractions, and if you’ve seen other well-known gardens in Srinagar, like Shalimar or Nishat, this one may feel a bit underwhelming. Still, it's a calm place to unwind for a while, especially if you're looking for some quiet time away from the crowds.

Garden is beautiful with amazing view of lake and mountains. There is a long queue in front of the gate for the tickets , specially on weekend . Washrooms was not maintained and clogged .

We had a very enjoyable experience at the garden, from what we could see they were generally well maintained. Although it was cloudy on the day so the views were not as good as they would normally be,it still looked beautiful in the misty weather. It being a Monday there were only a few visitors so it felt peaceful and serene.

The smallest of the three Mughal gardens of Srinagar, the Chasme Shahi is nestled in the Northern slopes of the Zabarwan range, up from the right bank of the Dal. The garden was constructed around an ancient spring with supposed medicinal properties, by Shah Jahan for his eldest son Dara Shikoh. The garden is laid in the 'chahar bagh' layout, beautifully terraced across the hills. The spring housed within a beautiful Mughal pavilion is the center piece, from where channels symmetrically divide the garden into parts. Pathways on either side of the channel lead one from the entrance gateway up to the pavilion. Trees of various species abound, with flowering plants arranged in beds. Tickets can be bought from near the entrance. Parking space outside the garden, is limited. *Tips: There are 3-4 stores near the entrance of the garden, selling local souvenirs, collectibles, etc. Although they are fixed price shops, their prices are very reasonable and fair (compared to similar shops lining the Dal Boulevard).

Good place for kids and family to kill atleast 2 hours. The greeny lawn is maintained properly. They have given seating chairs in multiple places for elders to relax. Shalimar Garden Shalimar Bagh is a Mughal garden in Srinagar, linked through a channel to the northeast of Dal Lake, on its right bank located on the outskirts of Srinagar city in Jammu and Kashmir, India. Its other names are Shalimar Garden, Shalimar Bagh, Farah Baksh and Faiz Baksh, and the other famous shore line garden in the vicinity is Nishat Bagh. The Bagh was built by Mughal Emperor Jahangir for his wife Noor Jahan, in 1619. The Bagh is considered the high point of Mughal horticulture. It is now a public park. This time it’s also called as crown of Srinagar. History Emperor Jahangir built his celebrated Shalimar Bagh, his dream project to please his queen. He enlarged the ancient garden in 1619 into a royal garden and called it ‘Farah Baksh’ (‘the delightful’). He built it for his wife Nur Jahan (‘light of the world’). In 1630, under Emperor Shah Jahan’s orders, Zafar Khan the governor of Kashmir extended it. He named it ‘Faiz Baksh’ (‘the bountiful’). It then became a pleasure place for the Pathan and Sikh governors who followed Zafar Khan. During the rule of Maharaja Ranjit Singh the marble pavilion was the guest house for European visitors. Electrification of the premises was done during Maharaja Hari Singh’s rule. Thus, over the years, the garden was extended and improved by many rulers and called by different names, but the most popular name ‘Shalimar Bagh’ continues to this day. During the Mughal period in particular, Emperor Jahangir and his wife Nur Jahan were so enamoured of Kashmir that during summer they moved to Srinagar with their full court entourage from Delhi at least 13 times. Shalimar Bagh was their imperial summer residence and the Royal Court. They crossed the arduous snowy passes of the Pir Panjal mountain range on elephants to reach Srinagar Layout The layout of the garden is an adaptation of another Islamic garden layout known as the Persian gardens. This garden built on a flat land on a square plan with four radiating arms from a central location as the water source. It needed to be modified to suit the hilly terrain and availability of a well, which could be diverted from a higher elevation to the planned gardens. Modifications involved the main channel running through the garden axially from top to the lowest point. This central channel, known as the Shah Nahar, is the main axis of the garden. It runs through three terraces. This layout left out the radial arms and the shape became rectangular, instead of a square plan of the Chahar Bagh. The garden, as finally laid out, covers an area of 12.4 hectares (31 acres) built with a size of 587 metres (1,926 ft) length on the main axis channel and with a total width of 251 metres (823 ft). The garden has three terraces fitted with fountains and with chinar (sycamore) tree-lined vistas. The Shahnahar is the main feeder channel to all the terraces. Each one of the three terraces has a specific role. The garden was linked to the open Dal Lake water through a canal of about 1 mile (1.6 km) length and 12 yards (11 m) in width that ran through swampy quagmire. Willow groves and rice terraces fringed the lake edge. Broad green paths bordered the lake with rows of chinar trees. One of the most serene places to be in. We had gone in Nov, and so the trees were in full "bloom".. Worth spending some time on the island. This is one of the 2 islands in Dal Lake. Also called Rop lank or silver Island. One has a beautiful view of the Dal lake from here. This Island originally had 4 Chinar trees from where it derives it name. The garden is must visit for all age groups. The garden is created with 12 terraces sloping one after another. Center of the garden one water channel is running with fountains. These fountains are made with stones. Lot of flowers are planted across the garden. The chinar trees in the top terrace is very beautiful. It is better to visit in October November to feel the autumn vibes. The entry ticket is 30 rs for adult & it's veryless for the beautiful garden.

A nice park on the banks of the Dal lake. The park offers 3D cinema, 7D theatre, hot-air balloon rides, making it a great destination for families. Plenty of parking space is available. Best to visit in the summer season. Do not include this place for food. They charge 3x the price with 3x low quantity.

One of the best gardens I have seen. Neat, clean and beautiful. No crowd at all. Flowers are beautiful and colourful. Worth visiting.

They do have some arcade games also at the place to spend some time on.

It is one of the most beautiful gardens in Srinagar. The garden is very well maintained. The entire garden is decorated with various colorful flowering plants. There is one hot balloon in the garden, and it also charges 1100/- pp, Moreover, the surrounding view of the garden is surrounded by beautiful mountains, all together creating a wonderful atmosphere. Must visit.

Zabarwan Park has always been a lovely place to relax and enjoy the view of Dal Lake, but my recent visit was quite disappointing. There’s some ongoing construction or repair work happening in the park, which is creating a lot of disturbance for visitors. The noise and restricted areas are taking away from the peaceful environment the park is known for. What was most concerning, however, was the condition of the public washrooms. They were not clean at all—very unhygienic and neglected. The urinals in the men’s washroom were broken and completely unusable, which made things quite inconvenient. For a park that sees so many tourists and locals, basic facilities like clean and functioning restrooms are essential. I really hope the concerned authorities look into this matter seriously. A little attention to maintenance can go a long way in making Zabarwan Park a pleasant place for everyone again.

One of the places to be experienced while visiting Kashmir. The villagers comes in their boats to sell their produce and the wholesalers buys the same. We can also buy vegetables if interested. The market happens after early morning prayers, so need to reach the area around 5.30AM. After sunrise there will be no market here.

It’s a part of dal lake but pretty deep inside. It’s an off beat destination and should be reached before sunrise so you can see the whole market bustling in full energy. They have vegetables, flowers, kahwa, goodies, handcrafted items, imitation jewellery, clothes and artistic items for sale during the morning. Reach there before sunrise and ask your shikara boatman to guide you through the places I’m between. Trust me, this is one of the best experiences I’ve had in Kashmir!

The amazing FLOATING VEGETABLE AND FLOWERS MARKET in Dal Lake, Srinagar Kashmir Srinagar's Dal Lake is famous the world over for its scenic location, for its Shikaras (boats) that float on it and for the promotion of aqua sports like water skiing. The Dal Lake is also famous for its 'floating vegetable market', the only one of its kind in India and only the second in the world, the other being the rowing shops along the backwaters of the Mekong Delta in Vietnam. Floating vegetable vendors are a prime tourist attraction in the Kashmir Valley, and this is reflected in the sales and annual turnover, estimated to be in the range of Rs. 35 crores. There are no permanent shops on the lake. The floating vegetable garden in Kashmir is the only one of its kind in India and a must-see for travelers. I loved my stay there! The Sabji Bazaar (meaning vegetable market) is the prime fascination for tourists in the valleys of Kashmir. It is an unorganized market where individual sellers gather in the center of the lake at the break of day and wrap up just as the sunlight touches the water.This market doesn't encourage selective or partial selling of items; it focuses instead on selling wholesale. The items for sale include tomatoes, carrots, turnips, leafy vegetables, and the famous nadru (lotus roots, a delicacy in the Kashmir Valley), all sown in the rich ecosystem of this wetland. The popular Kashmir flowers are also produced and sold in this market.

Harwan Garden is one the Famous Mughal Gardens situated on the foot of Zabarwan Hills. The scene is so picturesque that one feels that his soul is being absorbed in the Nature. Massively dominated by huge CHINAR trees, several flowing streams, stone laden paths, green grass seems to be beautiful floor of the garden....... So natural......... Kids have a particular zone here where they can do different types of physical activities like Slides, Swings and much more....... I suggest in summer season one should spend an afternoon here in the shades of Huge CHINAR trees, the blossom will give you 17 level AC comfort with fresh air.....

The park featured a wildlife species such as the hangul, musk deer, Himalayan black bear, leopard, Himalayan serow and 70 species of birds, including the paradise flycatcher, Himalayan monal, and Himalayan snowcock.

Tulip Garden opens up from late March and extends upto late April until the Tulips wave in blooms. With an entry fee of Rs 75/person, this heavenly garden, is a soothing treat to the eyes. It will take about 2-3 hrs for a full tour of the garden. There are fountains and blossoms everywhere, reverberating a happy vibe over the valley. There is a market outside the garden, which I found very pocket friendly and I took all the gift items from there itself. There is a botanical garden nearby this place.

Tulip Garden is located adjacent the Botanical Garden. The garden is planned in line with the Mughal gardens in terms of the layout of pathways with water channels, cascades and fountains. The garden opens in March when the Tulips bloom - a mesmerizing spectacle of nature to behold - in all possible colours and hues. Not only tulips, there are flowering plants of various other species as well. Beautifully manicured lawns and decorated flower beds arranged in various shapes abound. Located at foothills of the Zabarwan range, the garden is terraced in two or three levels - not as steep as the Chasme Shahi. Entry fee is Rs.75/person. Parking is about half a kilometre away... common for both the Tulip and the Botanical gardens.

Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip garden@ Srinagar* is open from 9 am to 7 pm. the best season to visit is when it blooms; that is last weeks of March and first weeks of April (but the period veries) It has *73 varieties of tulips*! and it is the largest tulip garden in Asia spread over an area of about 74 acres;situated at the base of the *Zabarwan* range, built on a sloping ground in a terraced fashion consisting of seven terraces with an overview of the Dal Lake. The garden was opened in 2007 with the aim to boost floriculture and tourism in the Kashmir Valley. About *1.7 million tulip bulbs, all in multiple colours*, were brought from Keukenhof tulip gardens of Amsterdam. Besides tulips, there are 46 varieties of flowers, including hyacinths, daffodils and ranunculus which were also brought from Holland. The Tulip festival is an annual Spring festival to increase tourism by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir. The festival showcases a variety of flowers in the garden. April 2023, the garden was visited by 365,000 tourists, including 3,000 foreign tourists.(India shining). Well it’s worth a visit if you could beat the crowd. Watching so many pretty flowers , all layered together in colourful rows is quite a sight.. the garden is well maintained with benches to rest and relax. We visited in early April. Made a good decision to reach early around 8.30-9, this helped to beat the heat and crowds.. avoid Sundays as the locals also visit on public holidays.

Very beautiful garden. Visiting here is a heavenly experience. Must see if you are fond of nature. It is open from March to April only for selected days. There's parking which is nearby to the entrance of this garden. You can see various varieties of tulips which are extremely beautiful. Entry ticket is ₹70 for Indians. Just adjacent to this is a botanical Garden which is good to sit and enjoy picnic but it doesn't have any tulips. It also has separate ticket. If you go to see only tulips just make sure you go to the right garden. Besides drinking water there's also few benches where you can sit and enjoy the views.

The landscaping, benches, and walking areas are well-kept, and it is clear that this space was designed for people to enjoy peace, nature, and community. However, one major concern that is affecting the beauty and experience of this space is the poor condition of the central water pool. The water appears dirty and stagnant, giving an unpleasant view right at the heart of the park. Additionally, cigarette butts can be seen scattered around various corners, which not only tarnishes the view but also creates an unhealthy and disrespectful environment, especially for children and families. This park is meant to be a symbol of calm and public pride, but such neglect can turn it into a disappointing experience for visitors. I strongly urge the concerned authorities to take the following actions: 1. Immediate cleaning and regular maintenance of the water pool – the pool should reflect beauty, not pollution. 2. Strict ban on smoking inside the park premises – this should be enforced with fines or challans for anyone found smoking or littering with cigarette butts. 3. Installation of clear signboards about the prohibition of smoking and littering. 4. More waste bins in visible spots so that people have no excuse to throw trash or cigarette butts on the ground. People visit such places to refresh themselves and enjoy clean surroundings. If maintained properly, this park has the potential to be one of the most beautiful public places, leaving visitors with lasting positive memories. Let’s protect and preserve it with responsible action. Thank you.

The Pratap Park located between Srinagar—Residency Road and Maulana Azad Road.it is in lalchowk area.this is a time pass place . A great place for rest... not much family, friendly but still good rest point for everyone. Although the gates of the park remain mostly closed. and there is also a food point worth mentioning. I would gladly recommend this place to everyone. Park is well managed and in good shape. View from the park is lovely and time spent here good and fresh. Bathroom facilities are also available at both the end of park. It has all the good shops showrooms and malls around.

The Pratap Park in city center Lalchowk has turned into hangout spot for scores of students studying in different educational institutions in the vicinity who are seen bunking classes under the very nose of school authorities. Passer byres and eyewitness working at different shops around the park said that the students studying at women’s college, SP Higher Secondary School, SP College, Girls Higher Secondary School Kotibagh, Girls Higher Secondary School Amirakadil could be seen skipping classes, roaming around, sitting in groups and having fun in Pratap Park for whole day. The boys and girls seen inside Partap Park in schools uniforms are hardly checked by the concern officials, especially school authorities, if they are really bunking the classes and wondering around for hangout. The park has a peaceful and great ambiance. Students come here for studies, relax and spend a good time.

One of the few green places left in Rajbagh which is more crowded than down town. Maintenance is poor. I suggest they charge a nominal fee so that the park is maintained and kept clean.

Lovely place with nice views and a decent crowd. Mostly frequented by families chilling or health conscious people taking a jog or brisk walk. Mornings are always better if you want quiet time and a serious workout. Evenings it turns into a family zone. But it badly needs maintenance for garbage, waterlogging and garbage control. Wish there was a caretaker on duty too, the guy assigned is never present in the morning. He just comes around in the evenings to bully parkgoers.

You can see the best of winter sunsets from this place and the bridge adjacent to it. The hazy evenings and the red skies will make you delusional. Surrounded by enchanting and majestic chinar trees, this place is nice to enjoy the sights of a sunset.

Have captured this pic of a gorgeous full moon night from the footbridge right next to this park (no filters) Grey blue clear evening skies and crystal clear water in the dark, made a stunning mirror like reflection of this light up majestic mountain with a fort. Haven’t seen a more beautiful picturesque frame in all of Srinagar residential area. It’s a marvelous thing to walk this city in a good clear evening considering a few safe measures. Just be home early before 9pm. It’s a bit weary and pin drop quite after that.

I stumbled upon this park accidentally while walking towards some beautiful cafes in Srinagar. It was snowing and I had some time to spare. On entering this park I noticed that there is a beautiful view of river Jhelum and the mosque here is a splendid architecture. The arches and domes of the mosque are a sight a behold. Do walk in of you are around.

Jhelum park is built along the banks of Jhelum river and is very beautiful, definitely worth a walk at night after dinner. The park is well planned with beautiful modern art sculptures at every few steps. As lights are used in these art pieces, it is better to visit it after sunset.

A beautiful place, better than even sonamarg and remove the Gondola and it's better than Gulmarg too. Very few tourists, serene meadows, still very clean and calming. On the flip side, the route is not well maintained, facilities such as washrooms, restaurants, seating etc are in a very poor condition. Visited in winters, and so that may be a reason. Otherwise a beautiful meadow..

Beautiful Meadows Valley was one of the most peaceful and scenic places I’ve ever visited. The wide green landscapes, fresh air, and colorful blooms made it feel like a hidden paradise. It was a perfect spot for relaxation, photography, and reconnecting with nature. It’s truly disappointing that the valley is now closed. A place so naturally beautiful deserved to be preserved and cherished. I hope it reopens someday, because experiences like this are rare to find.

We visited the national park and unfortunately the park was closed for public due to a VIP visitor. No prior intimation was put up on their website leading to disappointment. We got an opportunity to see only the animal rescue centre where we saw a few Himalayan black bears and 2 leopards.

In terms of wildlife, the park mainly houses Brown Bears, Black Bears, and Leopards, along with a fish farm. While it’s interesting, the variety of animals is quite limited. Overall, it’s a good place to explore, though not the most exciting if you’re expecting a wide range of wildlife. Still, it’s worth a visit for the natural beauty and quiet atmosphere.

Located on outskirts of Srinagar city, Dachigam covers an area of around 141 square kilometers, it is best known for its population of the endangered Hangul deer, but you will be lucky to spot one. It is mostly visited for few caged bears and Leopard and a large Trout fish farm. My recommendation is keep a full day for this place. Book ticket online, reach early and trek , enjoy the wilderness, lush forests and high-altitude grasslands. And if you are lucky you may spot hangul (Stag).

Beautiful garden but needs better care... Achabal Garden is a truly beautiful and historic place, with lovely natural surroundings and flowing springs. However, the water is very dirty and the garden as a whole needs proper care and maintenance. Visitors also tend to litter.. especially with plastic, which spoils the charm of the garden. Strict laws and better upkeep are needed to preserve its beauty.

Spend ur last day of Pahalgam by visiting here. U will love the place. Calm yet lively. Natural and beautiful. The loudness of water streams makes stones of the park alive. It’s not the noise of water but the voice of the garden. Garden made in 4 steps as represents Mughal architecture. Waterways devide the entire garden very sophistically. Best thing is that u will not find any tourist here. Most of the locals visit this place. Waterways have swift water flow so be careful for ur children and for urself. And don’t be in hurry else u will not be able to have a conversation with Theo’s beautiful garden. Please keeep it clean.

Entry is reasonable, but maintenance could be improved in some areas (especially dustbins). Overall, a must-visit spot near Anantnag for history lovers,families, and photographers.

Origins & Architecture Built around 1620 AD by Empress Nur Jahan, later remodeled by Jahanara Begum between 1634–1640, Achabal follows the classic Persian Charbagh layout adapted to its hillside topography. Originally spanning multiple terraces, today it comprises three levels, with water cascading from an underground spring atop the hill through engraved water ramps known as chadars, creating beautiful water features and fountains. Sacred Spring The garden is nourished by an underground spring, believed to be a re-emergence of the Brengi River, which vanishes in Dewalgam and resurfaces here, a unique hydrological phenomenon.
