Sokcho Beach is a popular destination known for its 2 km long white sand shoreline, offering opportunities for swimming, walking, and shell collecting. The beach is surrounded by a pine forest and features resorts and eateries. It is a favorite spot among locals, with parks, flower roads, and trails attracting Sokcho citizens. Its beautiful beach with additional view for ferris wheel which make it more perfect! you should come in summer, its a perfect time to be there! and its not far from express bus terminal even you can walk from there, so as soon as you arrive in sokcho by bus, you can go directly to sokcho beach~ you can walk a little bit to the right side and there is a stairs that is the best spot to take a picture there! you'll be enjoying and don't wanna go back home xixixixi enjoy!🤍

Very nice beach to visit, clean and white sand, strong wind even in the summer. A day from Seoul is not enough since it takes 2 and half hours, recommend 2 days to discover the night time of Sokcho City.
Lam N — Google review
Good to stop by and take a stroll from Lotte resort Sokcho. There are some places to stroll with the ocean view, such as “외옹치바다향기로” (Oeongchi Bada Hyangiro Trail, address : 43 Yeonggeumjeong-ro, Dongmyeong-dong, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea), and “영금정” (Yeonggeumjeong Sunrise Pavilion, address : 43 Yeonggeumjeong-ro, Dongmyeong-dong, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea)
POLARIS J — Google review
Beautiful scenery. In the summertime it's really busy. Fireworks (but security limits them), night market food stalls, carnival games, and lots of photo ops. Daytime it's packed with families and night time you're not allowed in the water but it's bustling with people out for an evening stroll. Worth visiting in the summertime for day time and night time experiences. They gave public washrooms (really clean), and air or water pumps to clean your shoes or feet once you're out of the sand. Safe, kid friendly, and lots to do/see here.
Katie S — Google review
Beautiful beach facing the East Sea! They decorated the pier with colorful lights at night and painted it with fish and crabs. It has fine white sand and close to hotels and restaurants. Don't miss out walking at night or riding the ferris wheel. Also try to wake up early and head over here to watch the sunrise.
Belle — Google review
Clean sandy beach, with life guards present. Some parts where they don't allow you to swim. However, even on a busy day, i found enough space to swim
M A — Google review
I am Caribbean, so very few beaches impress me. The water is not blue but it was iced cold, the sand was like sandpaper (wear sandals ) there are a few areas that are picture worth, plenty of street food, and available parking (we visited during the week days) i liked that it wasn't trashed.
Mev A — Google review
Nice sandy beach with many sightseeing opportunities. Try the sokcho eye for a great view!

Flea & Street Markets
Sokcho Tourist & Fishery Market is a traditional market that has been around since 1953 and is highly recommended for visitors. With around 450 stores, the market offers a variety of goods and food options. While it can get crowded, the seafood vendors are particularly popular for their fresh and delicious offerings. Visitors can enjoy watching the lively atmosphere with fresh seafood on display, although some may find the persistent soliciting from merchants to be a bit uncomfortable.
A lot of food! Absolutely recommended when you visit to sokcho! There is an actual fish market below to buy fresh seafood. The menus are not really English translated. A lot of sweets choices too.
M M — Google review
Great place to have a wander. A fantastic display of fish, shellfish and crabs. Lots of lovely seafood restaurants around the market to have lunch or dinner. The people working in the market are very friendly and welcoming 🙂
Ann C — Google review
Great fish and seafood! Also all the market staff was super friendly and chatty which was really nice. No options for vegans and vegetarians
Varvara M — Google review
Walked the market selling street food. Plenty of choices and i tried their cake (white color) which is tasty. Bought their teokkboki, it was a bit spicy and less chewy compared to what i have tasted before. Headed to the basement for seafood - bought snow crab at stall 153 and had them cooked for me. Its 29k won per kg and additional 10k won charge for cooking. The crab meat was sweet and the owner was friendly. The fried rice was the bomb - the best i have tasted.
Iced L — Google review
A nice market to visit in Sokcho. Good number of shops around. We tried some local specialties here which were nice. We visited on a weekend so it was crowded
Rennie L — Google review
It had been a long time since I visited a traditional market in Korea, especially in this charming seaside town. The market was brimming with life—tanks filled with all kinds of fish, still swimming and waiting to be sold. Stalls offered a vibrant array of fermented and marinated side dishes, perfect companions for steamed rice. There were also colorful rice cakes, crispy seafood tempuras, fresh fruits, and snacks of every variety. It felt like a feast for the senses, with every corner offering something new to discover. For lunch, we couldn’t resist the allure of a grilled seafood restaurant. The freshness of the catch, combined with the rich flavors of the grill, made for an unforgettable meal. Traditional markets like these are more than just places to shop—they’re a window into the heart of local culture. The variety and freshness of the food, the lively atmosphere, and the friendly banter of the vendors all contribute to an experience that’s as rich and fulfilling as the food itself. It’s a reminder of the importance of preserving these spaces, where tradition and community come together so beautifully.
Peter S — Google review
The market is pretty big but you’ll notice only a few vendors are really busy. Definitely try the seafood vendors they’re really good and you can watch them cook in front of you. What I thought was weird is we went to one place and wanted something and they said it was sold out even though it was on display, and they said everything on display is actually fake. Crazy huh!
Warren W — Google review
Love the market. Plenty of fresh or dried seafood. They also sell cookies and cakes which you can bought as souvenir. Plenty of stalls selling deep fried prawn, cuttlefish, hotteok, twist doughnuts - to name a few. Will definitely come again.

If you're in Sokcho you should visit this place; it offers a nice view of the surroundings for only 2,500 won entrance. Unfortunately you can't buy any drinks or food for now. The park near the tower is great for slow walks and relaxation.
Melline G — Google review
It's quite worth to have a short stay here. We came here for the night view, but the time a bit early, so we also have some wall and rest at the park down the tower. The view of morning and night of the tower are different. So after became dark, we bought tickets and go up to see sokcho night view. It's very quiet when we there so we able took a lot of photos at upstairs and there's not so many people. After see the night view, we came down again for it's night time colored tower.

It’s a beautiful 15 floor tower. The entrance is 2500 won. You can have a great view of the whole city. There is a caffe on top of it.

Tower in Sokcho, you can buy a ticket, take an elevator and enjoy the view on Sokcho. However, I think the view from bridge is better since you can see Seoraksan mountains.

Yeonggeumjeong Pavilion is a stunning seaside structure located on a rocky outcrop, accessible by an illuminated bridge. The pavilion was named after the geomungo, a traditional Korean musical instrument, due to the sound of waves hitting the rocks resembling its music. Visitors can admire the breathtaking view of the East Sea from this picturesque location. Additionally, nearby attractions such as Yonggeumjeong Sunrise Pavilion and Sokcho Expo Tower offer further opportunities for exploration and panoramic views of the city.
That wind breeze and the view is definitely 10/10. It’s my first visit this winter and I’m looking forward to enjoy more with calm weather ☺️
Lilian K — Google review
Pavilion located by the sea. It’s so lovely! Quiet, not crowded, nice views! I enjoyed the visit. The bottom pavilion was sadly closed for maintenance, I think from March to July this year. I was surprised as I didn’t see it online but do check! Still worth a visit as the top pavilion is accessible (where I managed to have some really good views)! It’s not crowded so the small pavilion manages to fit all the groups here. Some nice locals moved over to the sides once they were done with photos, so we could have a nice photo spot~
Rennie L — Google review
I had the opportunity to visit Yeonggeumjeong Pavilion during winter season, when the temperature was below zero. It’s an incredibly beautiful spot, especially for watching the sunrise early in the morning. 🌅 The atmosphere was peaceful with a refreshing breeze, though it was so cold that my hands went numb. 🥶🥶 The area was clean, and traveling there was very convenient, which made the whole experience truly memorable. ❤️
Ammiie A — Google review
Yeonggeumjeong Sunrise Pavilion is a beautiful seaside spot in Sokcho, perfect for enjoying the ocean breeze and stunning sunrise views. Perched on the coastline, the pavilion offers a peaceful atmosphere with the soothing sound of waves crashing against the rocks. The pavilion itself has a traditional Korean architectural style, adding to its charm. A short walk along the bridge leading to the pavilion makes the experience even more enjoyable, especially in the early morning when the sky changes colors with the rising sun. It’s an easily accessible spot near Sokcho Harbor, making it a nice addition to any Sokcho itinerary. While it’s not a large attraction, it’s a great place to relax, take photos, and appreciate the natural beauty of the East Sea. Overall, Yeonggeumjeong Sunrise Pavilion is a must-visit for early risers and those looking for a peaceful scenic stop in Sokcho.
Thắng M — Google review
Luckily, we went here during autumn. And it was not hot. Just bear in mind to bring your sunglasses. This place is clean and not many people went here during that time. Really nice view from the pavilion. I saw many stalls and shops selling food, but I did not have enough time to try any food here. Maybe I need to come back here again and spend my time walking on the street and buy food.
Nasha — Google review
Place to see sun rise...very simple but beautiful ocean view. Spend 10-15 minutes- took few photos and left.
Danny K — Google review
This is one of my favorite places in sokcho so far. Beautiful panoramic views of the sea beach and the place has an aesthetic touch to it. Very calm and full of solitude vibes. If you want to spend some lonely time or if you want to come with your lover, in both ways you will be satisfied! No entrance fee

I went there for the sunset and it was a beautiful view and an easy hike, but I'm not sure it would've been worth it had I not been in the area already. If you can stop by, that's wonderful, but if you're not already near, you won't miss much by skipping it.

Sokcho Gelato is a delightful Korean ice cream shop that offers a wide range of unique and local flavors. With no parking available, customers can briefly park in front of the shop to enjoy their treats. One must-try flavor is the potato gelato, which resembles cold mashed potatoes. However, it is definitely worth sampling for its distinct taste. Located in Seokcho, this gelato shop stands out for its variety of flavors like mugwort and their use of seasonal ingredients.
Gelato shop in Seokcho. Unique flavors like potato, mugwort were taste good. Overall gelato was fine, but it does not taste rich as you think galato would be. They use local ingredients and change flavor frequently as they use seasonal ingredients.
Jaihyun L — Google review
A place serving unique flavors for gelato, most of them local specials! They even serve a tiny sample spoon with a flavor you didn’t order! Nice service! I ordered potato and mugwort flavors. Both were really good and interesting! Potato really had a unique texture like grainy mashed potatoes. But it didn’t taste odd at all! Mugwort was surprisingly really fragrant! I thought it would be grassy or weird but no I really enjoyed it! I enjoyed this over potato. Highly recommend to drop by and try their special flavors :)

I happened to park the car right across this restaurant without knowing this is popular. Cold raw fish soup was fresh and cool. It was very crowded even though it was not busy hour. Across the street, by the parking lot, there are pine trees followed by the beach. After meal, coffee or tea on your hand, stroll on the beach or seat under the trees looking at the horizon. It makes you realized that you are in east coast finally.

Crab house
If you're looking for a delightful dining experience in Sokcho, "유진게찜" is the place to be! Nestled on the second floor, this gem offers breathtaking views of the sea that enhance your meal. The atmosphere is perfect for enjoying their plump and tender snow crabs, which are notably less salty than red crabs, making them a hit with both adults and kids alike. The crab shell rice adds an extra layer of savory goodness to your feast.
(Translated by Google) I ate on the second floor, and the view was amazing. I think I secured the best spot when Daege Village was first formed. Even the weather today was beautiful, so I was so happy the whole meal. The crabs were plump and delicious. They weren't salty and had a soft texture, so they were much more delicious than red crabs! The kids loved them too. The crab shell rice was also delicious and savory. The kids wanted more ramen, so we ordered another one! We got to Sokcho and were so excited for all the great seafood we read about prior to us coming. We found this restaurant as it served fresh crab and we were craving it. It wasn’t our first choice but it was open so we decided to check it out. We ordered 1 Hong crab (홍게) and 1 big crab (대게). The place was not busy which was good because there was plenty of space. There were rows of live crabs in tanks at the entrance. We were seated upstairs and got the side dishes. So hungry. The hong crab came out alone and we were told that the big crab would come out later. After 20 min... the other crab came out. There was very little meat on the Hong crab and not much more in the “big” crab. We expected the ramen to be packed full of seafood flavor but Were disappointed when the ramen tasted like shin ramen with a few pieces of crab added. The rice scramble in the crab shell was sadly mediocre and lacked flavor. Overall were were disappointed with the food. To top it off the bill came out to 145,000 Won which was definitely overpriced for the quality of the food we ate. I would not recommend coming here if you’re looking for fresh crab in Sokcho.

We went there for dinner and the man at the door insisted on telling us that “one crab is 140000” several times for some reason We were seated upstairs which looked ok and wasn’t very crowded. The food was average at best the snow crab we ordered was okay. The ramen was tasteless only interesting thing we were served was the rice and even that was again average.

If u google Crab restaurant, this restaurant will be shown mostly. It is famous for tourist but i think some reason for the fame is viral marketing. Food is good and crab is fresh of course. But it is not special than any other restaurant. U can enjoy food and sea view ar here.

Whether you're sipping on a refreshing grapefruit cooler or indulging in their smoky cheesecake, every bite is a treat. The atmosphere is enhanced by pleasant background music, making it the perfect spot to unwind.
I was a bit skeptical of this place, thinking I would simply be paying for the oceanfront location…until I started drinking the coffee and grapefruit cooler, and nibbling (then wolfing down) the smoky cheesecake. All were delicious and ate highly recommended. Pleasant background music throughout my visit sealed it for me. “I’ll be back”!

As a coffee lover exploring Sokcho, I came across this café through a local review site. It’s tucked away on a local food street, conveniently near a public parking lot. The real highlight here is the stunning ocean view from the spacious seating areas on the 3rd and 4th floors—absolutely worth a visit if you’re in the area. While the coffee and overall experience are fairly average, the view alone makes it a nice spot to relax for a while. Not necessarily a destination café, but a pleasant stop if you’re nearby.

Nestled in the charming coastal city of Sokcho, this delightful restaurant is a must-visit for seafood lovers. Surrounded by a picturesque pine forest and sandy beach adorned with captivating sculptures, it offers an inviting atmosphere year-round. The highlight here is undoubtedly the fresh snow crab, which is expertly prepared to ensure easy peeling and delectable meat that bursts with flavor. Diners rave about the accompanying soup, rich and savory as if it has been simmering for hours.
The crab was prepared very well, it was easy to peel apart the shell to get to the meat. Crab tasted especially fresh, the crab roe (green thing) is also yummy, did not taste fishy at all. They served a soup as a side dish, it was very flavourful, feels like they stewed it for days. Even though we were foreigners, the shopkeeper did not treat us differently and quoted the same as locals, as well as provided good service. If I return to Sokcho, I will definitely return!

Very friendly owner and fair price for snow crab. We got a 1.5 kg crab for two people at 60,000 KRW per kilo, and it was huge! The meat was sweet, savory, and really fresh. Lots of tasty banchan were included, and you can also order fried rice with the crab head. Even though English wasn’t easy for them, the service was kind and welcoming. We waited about 40 minutes since the place was full, but it was totally worth it, the crab was amazing.

Formation and Characteristics •Cheongcho Lake is a typical lagoon formed when seawater flows into the land and is separated from the sea by a sandbar (sand dune). •It is adjacent to Dongmyeong Port to the north and the East Sea to the east, and 500-ton ships can freely enter and exit through the waterway connected to the sea. •Since it is not affected by the waves of the open sea, it also functions as a port, such as a shelter for fishing boats and the inner harbor of Sokcho Port. History and Culture •During the Joseon Dynasty, a naval base was established, making it a strategic military location where warships were anchored. •Lee Jung-hwan, the author of Taekriji, selected the scenery of Cheongcho Lake as beautiful enough to be included in the Eight Scenic Views of Gwandong. •In the past, boating and sightseeing were popular, and it is still counted as one of the Eight Scenic Views of Sokcho. Tourism and Natural Environment •Around Cheongcho Lake are Cheongcho Lake Park, Cheongcho Pavilion, Expo Tower, Abai Village, and Seokbong Ceramic Art Museum. •The lake park has walking trails, benches, a healing forest, and an observatory. •You can enjoy different scenery in each season, and it is said to have great ecological value as a migratory bird habitat. Cheoksan Foot Bath Park is a perfect spot to unwind and pamper your feet after a day of adventure. The footpath offers various pools with temperatures ranging from hot to cold, including a refreshing rock pool. You can rent towels and seat cushions for a small fee if you forget to bring your own. It's conveniently located near Seorak National Park, making it an ideal post-hike retreat.
Very unique and interesting experience of Korean culture~!

After a long, beautiful hike at the Seoraksan National Park this was a delicious treat for our feet! It's a small, basic place, clean and for 1000 Won you pay for the towel to dry your feet and a little mat to keep your bum dry as you sit and soak your feet. After paying, you take off your shoes and clean your feet at the rinsing station only then go find yourself a nice spot to sit. If you enjoy boiling your feet like I do, sit near the source where hot water enters the pool! Test and see what you prefer. The locals are friendly and we even had a great laugh at my red feet. They gestured that we walk the cold stream lined with pebbles after, to get the max out of this experience. Again lots of laughter as I struggled to keep my back straight and "relax" as I walked barefoot on these pebbles. Our feet felt SOOOOOO good after this!!! Really recommend this experience especially because it's local, small and friendly.

This is one of the best spent 1000 won ever. A simple pleasure but oh so pleasant. A small seating mat and towel. Today was the first open day of the year and it was snowing. Thew cafe is not yet operating. To soak one's feet in 40c water under a tent while snow is falling is luxurious. Highly recommend.

It's a great place to relax your feet and enjoy time. For 1,000 won, you can rent a towel and seat.

Only 1000 WON to get a towel and a sitting mat. Enjoy the hot 41 degrees C water and a pebble walking path for acupoint massage

Free public foot bath near a hiking course. We stayed about 45 minutes after a hike and enjoyed relaxing our feet in the hot water.

A memorable experience that your feet will thank you for. This feet footpath is a great way to relax after a day of adventures, a long hike or even if you are in need of some r&r. Remember to bring a towel but if you don’t they do have some available for 1000 won. There are several pools for you to soak in that range from hot to cold and even a rock pool to stroll through. Your feet will be silky smooth and revitalized from the nourishing water!

National park

Seoraksan National Park is a stunning and special destination, boasting large mountains, waterfalls, diverse flora and fauna, and numerous hiking trails. The park offers awe-inspiring natural experiences with its breathtaking vistas and beautiful landscapes. It is the highest mountain in the Taebaek range in Gangwon Province, South Korea. The area is rich in biodiversity and provides a peaceful retreat for nature enthusiasts and hikers.
A phenomenal national park! It’s couple hours of drive away from Seoul but I think it’s definitely worth your time. The mountains are breathtaking and the Buddhist temple is amazing to walk through. You can also take the gondola up and there’s a very short hike to get to one of the peaks. There are drink and food vendors peppered throughout the park as well if you ever get hungry. If you can rent a car in Seoul, I think it’s one of the best places that you can visit for a day trip!
Scott L — Google review
Absolutely worth it! There are several walking trails BUT make sure you go prepared! Some of the hikes require a lot of stair climbing! One of the hikes brings you from the Buddhist temple to the top of the mountain. The hike is 3.5km one way and requires a lot of stair climbing! Halfway up there is another temple inside the rock. Once you’re on top of the mountain you can see several cities on the coast. The view is fantastic! The other hike takes you to 3 waterfalls. Same here, lots of stair climbing! The hikes are not suitable for little kids, people with strollers, or people in wheelchairs. There is a huge parking lot where you pay 6,000 Won per day.

What a beautiful, beautiful national park. I would highly recommend visiting if you are planning on staying close by - and if you are not, I would recommend you doing it! We were staying in Sokcho, it is very easy to access Seoraksan by bus (number 7 or 7-1) as it is taking you right outside the park entrance. We arrived at the park at around 9am and it was the perfect timing as not too crowded at this time. We had a little walk around and decided to take the cable car straight away. I would highly recommend you to do it as soon as you arrive as it gets really crowded from 12pm. The views are absolutely breathtaking from up there. My friends and I are not expert at hiking, yet we went all the way to the top of the trail. It took us around 2 hours and a half with a few breaks and an hour and a half to walk down. You can judge by yourself by looking at the pictures, but I do think that it is more than worth it.
Lola — Google review
Beautiful mountain park and worth to be visited any season of the year. We came here mid-spring and the weather was perfect and the trees were all green. We paid a 6,000 won parking fee and 15,000 won per person fee for the cable car that took us to one of the peaks of Seoraksan. Up there, there's several trails that lead to decks with breathtaking views. There's also a Buddhist temple inside the national park and several trails where you can walk and just enjoy the sound of birds under the shade of the the trees. Plenty of cafes, restaurants, stores that sells beverages and snacks so you will bever get hungry. There's also gazebos and benches to rest or have a picnic.
Belle — Google review
Great national park! Free entrance, only need to pay for parking. There are a lot of restaurants, coffees, toilets at the entrance as well as on your hike. You can take the cable car or choose a hike that you prefer. We checked on Kahoot before and chose a hike that was 12km (round so 6-6km) It was lovely however the last 2 kms were uphill (so prepare yourself). I would really recommend this national park to everyone!!
Anna N — Google review
This mountain range has several trails and I took the relatively easier Osaek trail or the five colours trail. It is called the Jujeongol course and goes mostly along the river. The initial part of the trail has steep climbs on a ladder, but later gets flat. In the way you can get to see a pagoda built during Silla period around 668 AD. Try to have the cool natural spring water called Osaegyaksu Mineral Water which is supposed to have high mineral content as mentioned on the board near its entrance.

Seoraksan National Park, located in the northeastern part of South Korea in Gangwon Province, is one of the most stunning and iconic natural destinations in the country. It is especially famous for its breathtaking landscapes, particularly during the autumn months when the foliage turns vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow. If it rains during your visit to Seoraksan National Park, don't worry—you can still enjoy a memorable experience! The park transforms beautifully in the rain, with mist rolling over the mountains and waterfalls becoming even more dramatic.

Beautiful national park. Hiked up to Ulsanbawi Rock. We were a bit unprepared with the weather as it was snowing and we didn’t have crampons. Most of the hike was good but certain parts were iced over. Were to turn back around, but a group of ajussi and adjumma decided to stay with us until the top. Was a good experience with pretty views.

The Seorak Sunrise park is a beautiful place to spend time. It’s a place for taking rest and enjoy the nature. The beach view is just awesome 🤩. Cheonbuldong Valley is a stunning river valley in Seoraksan Mountain, South Korea. It's known for its dramatic landscape featuring rock walls, waterfalls, and natural pools. The valley offers picturesque boardwalks and paths that allow visitors to explore the majestic peaks and various water features such as Gwimyeonam, Oryeon Falls, and Cheondang Falls.
A scintillating valley. Photos do no justice. I wouldn’t say it’s grand or majestic, rather more personal and intimate. Not a beginner’s hike. But very much worth a visit.
Sam N — Google review
That was a breathtaking valley with maples, full of small waterfalls, Near there there was an tall rocks that is called 비선대 (bi seondae) with a view of the center seoraksan. It was unforgetable, memorable memory I had at seoraksan. I will recommend this place at autumn for its unbelivable maple trees.
Brad — Google review
Aside from the top of Daecheongbong Peak and the next two kilometers or so down from there, I don't remember having more "ooooh and aaaah" moments anywhere else in Seoraksan National Park as I did here. The scenery was absolutely stunning. The mountains rising high above you on either side, the water rushing through the valley below, and the peaks in front of you off in the distance were absolutely beautiful. This section is a little bit of a hike from the Visitor Center, but it is before most of the uphill sections of the trail that lead to the mountain peaks, so I'd say most people would be fit enough to make it here. If so, you'd be crazy not to visit this place. Pictures don't do it justice
