Grandad Bluff, located in La Crosse, Wisconsin, is a 600-foot-high ancient bluff offering stunning panoramic views of the Mississippi River Valley. This popular state park features a viewing platform and shelter house where visitors can take in the breathtaking vista that stretches out to three states: Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. The park also provides coin-operated binoculars and picnic areas for visitors to enjoy.
The view is gorgeous. There's ample parking, and the walk from the parking lot to the bluff is short. We took our friends here because they had never seen it and they loved the view too!

A cool spot. Great panoramic view. I went in the middle of the day, but I can imagine a great sunset view from here.
Dana N — Google review
This is a breathtaking view of at least three states. Gorgeous at any time, but during the Fall especially so.
Penny W — Google review
A gem in La Crosse for those who love nature and must see. Note that if you want to see the scenic overview, you have to put “Grandad Bluff Park” into your GPS which is about 0.5 miles further up the road. Pics taken in early fall just as leaves were starting to change colors. So peaceful and a true nature lover escape.

Great views of La Crosse and greater Wisconsin! A quick 5-10 minute drive and you are at the peak. Just a few switchbacks and tighter corners but nothing too bad. Dog friendly if they are leashed and well mannered.

Steak house
Le Chateau is an upscale French restaurant housed in a historic 19th-century mansion, offering a warm and sophisticated ambiance for diners. The menu features classic French dishes such as onion soup, escargot, squid ink pasta with truffle cream sauce, lobster risotto with lemon and edamame, and seared salmon with roasted corn and cucumber couscous. Whether you're seeking a casual dinner or celebrating a special occasion, Le Chateau provides an exquisite dining experience.
Visited for our anniversary dinner. The staff recognized the event but I was surprised they didn't off a dessert as a congrats and thank you. We have not had much "classic French food" so we didn't know what to expect. We ordered two appetizers and two entrees. The smoked salmon app didn't seem to have any smoked flavor so that was odd. The French onion soup was good, but not what I expected. My wife had the salade nicoise, she enjoyed that. I had the steak with fries (it still seems strange to write it) we added on shrimp and lobster and all of these items were cooked really well. I don't use a lot of steak sauce but thinking the French are the sauce kings I inquired. The kitchen made me something on the spot. They should bottle it. As for desserts, those were a home run. I had the French Silk Pie cake and it was amazing with their French pressed coffee. We were allowed to explore the house and it was fun to see. What a place. A masterpiece of construction. It's amazing people could do this level of detailed work way back when. Definitely recommended.
Pete W — Google review
First time here and the ambiance was Amazing! The bar downstairs in the "cave" was really neat, there's plenty of room to sit with friends. We toured the home while we waited for our food. The waitress and staff were friendly, the drinks were delicious and the food was ok. My fish was too salty but I still ate it all. My wife was not happy with her scallops, the noodles were bland and mushy.
Adrian V — Google review
My husband and I journeyed to La Cross after hearing recommendations to visit La Cave & The Chateau- both owned by the same people and located in the same stunning vintage house. We started our evening at La Cave and had a marvelous time enjoying custom cocktails. Then we ventured upstairs to The Chateau where we enjoyed delicious French-inspired cuisine. The beautifully decorated rooms enhanced the dinning experience and each bite left us wanting more. Highly recommend!
Brooke S — Google review
This restaurant lives up to its name. It's like a castle or a palace with very nicely decorated rooms and a high-class decor. The staff is very nice and the food was delicious. I had the lobster risotto with french onion soup to start and lime cheesecake for dessert.
Verlyn S — Google review
Let’s start with the basics, the food was not good. My husband ordered the duck and received a tiny plate of bland couscous topped with a very small duck breast, that to be fair was cooked at the temp requested. I ordered the steak frite. From past experience I know that when I order a steak medium rare it rarely comes that way, so I specifically asked our server if they will cook it accurately and he reassured me that their Michelin star chef would not have it any other way. Of course my steak came medium well. Realistically, it would have been difficult for anyone to cook it any other way because it was just so thin. Now, if that wasn’t enough, the whole thing was absolutely drenched in salt to the point my tongue shriveled up. This was certainly an expensive disappointment. They did bring us a couple after dinner drinks on the house to make up for the steak, but it turned out to be an undrinkable, overly sweet, orange liquor of some type (not Cointreau). Reviewing the service is a little more challenging because we had a very good experience in downstairs ‘La Cave’ with the bartenders before our formal dinner. The upstairs restaurant service was friendly but uneven. A restaurant pretending to be fine dining needs to train their server properly imo.
Sylvie L — Google review
We had an exceptional stay for our 25th anniversary! The food was spectacular - my husband had salmon and I had scallops - so good. The dessert was to die for! The aura of the mansion is very elegant- LaCave underneath the restaurant was crazy- with yummy drinks! Highly recommend!
Steph L — Google review
My husband and I recently enjoyed our first meal at Le Chateau and it did not disappoint! Chef Megan cooked everything to absolute perfection! Our server, Carlee, was very attentive, friendly and professional. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend!!
Jillian M — Google review
The atmosphere of La Chateau will speak to only certain people, as it has the feel of eating inside a very old home. The interior we will kept and the staff were very inviting. Our service was fast and attentive. But the food. Oh, the food is incredible!

Food & Drink
Nestled in the heart of Historic Downtown La Crosse, Turtle Stack Brewery stands out as a charming independent craft brewery and tasting room. This delightful spot is known for its exceptional handcrafted beers, available both on tap and in bottles. With a rotating selection of nine taps, visitors can enjoy an array of brews including IPAs, golden ales, stouts, and more.
Great little brewery with very good traditional beers. If you’re looking for a great beer without all the extra weird or wild stuff this is a great choice! Other drink options for NA people as well which is nice and great that it’s right downtown.
Brittany — Google review
Great tasting brews, and wines. Bartenders are knowledgeable on what you may drink in their brewery. They are also knowledgeable about the local bars and restaurants in downtown La Crosse for food to go and enjoyment of the downtown area. I got to enjoy the taste of the Cherry Stout, roasty and chocolate malt character with just a kiss of dark sweet cherry, ABV 6.9%. On a personal note, it's a stout flavor, with the consistency of a Porter.
Don H — Google review
We stopped in for a beer and a stamp in our Reel Craft Pass on the way to the Irish Festival. Great service and great beer. I recommend the Black Lager. Always worth a stop at Turtle Stack!
Carol G — Google review
We stopped by 6 breweries in thr LA crosse area over the span of three days and this was in the bottom three. The beers were below average and that is personified by them selling coffee flavor shots for $1 to add to your beer if you want. The bartender wore two airports for the first hour we (and other customers) were there. There is a nice little patio out front to drink beers and see folks moving through downtown.
Kyle H — Google review
Delicious beer with lots of variety to have something for everyone! Love the turtle logo and wish more of the merch had it in my size so that I am able to help support.

Turtle Stack Brewery, what a great name for a brewery by the river. This is a small brewery in downtown La Crosse. It is easy to walk to if you are bar hopping, Octoberfesting, or at conference. It is not a big place but it's comfortable. Service has been friendly even when it was busy. They make a variety of beer on my last stop they had a, Golden ale, a session, Belgian blonde, imperial ESB, brown, NEIPA, IPA, Coconut Porter, doppelbock. If you are in downtown put this local brewery on your to do list.
Adam D — Google review
Stopped in to try the raspberry Belgian. It did not disappoint. Also… bartender Ryan has the best playlist. Thanks Ryan

A cute little brewery with limited taps and a coffeehouse-like atmosphere. We loved the Maibock. The bar stools and chairs are INCREDIBLY UNCOMFORTABLE. You've been warned.

Embark on a journey with La Crosse Queen Cruises, a modern replica of the grand riverboats that once graced the Mississippi River. With two accessible decks, including an open-sided upper deck with dining and bar areas, this paddlewheel riverboat offers various cruise options. From classic sightseeing tours to family-favorite Pizza Cruises, there's something for everyone. The informative narrations and friendly staff make for an enjoyable and educational experience as you glide along the majestic Mississippi River.
Excellent experience! Great staff and crew. Got a lot of history and local flavor, including swinging bridges. And the food was the absolute best for brunch! And that's from other passengers too that I didn't know. Would definitely do again and hope that we went thru locks and no barges in front of us.

What a great experience. Very inexpensive for what you get. Great views of the river and wildlife. The bar is well stocked and very welcoming.
Jason S — Google review
Wholesome experience. The internal amusement system is limited, although you can't from this small sized cruise. But, their behavior, welcoming gesture would give you the joy in whole ride. I would recommend to try this journey.

The 3 hour cruise with dinner or lunch is so worth it!! Had gone in the sightseeing tours before and am so thankful we did the lunch buffet!! Going through the lock and dam was so neat!! Spotting Eagles and spending time with my bestie made it the best cruise we've been on!!

Absolutely amazing ride would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

This is a paddle boat on the Mississippi. It was very knowledgeable and enjoyable. I would recommend and go again.
Paula M — Google review
We are visiting from the Northeast and the pizza cruise was recommended to us. The cruise itself was great, staff was fantastic, and the company was great to work with. I think I would prefer going on one of their regular sightseeing cruises. The pizza cruise wasn't really worth it being domino's pizza. Is there no local pizzeria that you could support? The only big issue we had were the way children were running rampant. It was near impossible to safely access stairs because kids were all over the place. There were no staff telling adults to monitor their kids, parents weren't monitoring their kids. It was a bit of a safety concern. Over all, we did enjoy seeing the Mississippi and the boat itself.

The park's history dates back to 1911 when it was known as Levee Park and hosted various community gatherings. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely morning walk along the Riverwalk or savor coffee while taking in views of the La Crosse West Channel Bridge.
Fantastic views of the Mississippi River and lots of stunning and spectacular flower arrangements scattered throughout the park.

Riverside Park is a public park located on the riverfront of downtown La Crosse, Wisconsin. It's beautiful place on the bank of Mississippi River. It's just at walking distance from downtown. The serene view of the river and surrounding makes it a must visit. The ferry licated in the part is operated on specific schedule not throughout the year. Usually May to mid Oct. Lovechild is a stylish modern supper club in La Crosse, offering seasonal American cuisine and a full bar. The restaurant provides a cozy and intimate atmosphere, making it perfect for special occasions or gatherings with friends. Their menu features uncomplicated yet flavorful dishes made with locally-sourced and seasonal ingredients, including options for vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free, and gluten-free diets.
It was an interesting and amazing experience.I'd recommend making reservations since they're only open for a few hours per day. The atmosphere was very nice and the staff was very attentive. They were constantly coming around filing our cups and making sure we didn’t need anything. There was a little bit of wait between appetizers and entrees so I would say to expect to spend about an hour and a half to two hours there. My table ordered a variety of food and we all shared family style. We had the ribeye, lamb, pork and 3 different pastas. Overall, all the food was very tasty. The pork was a bit dry but still tasty. The pasta with shrimp was good. One was dairy free and more lemony, which made it more refreshing. Everyone agreed that the ribeye was the best, and may be one of the best they've had in town. We also had the tres leches cake that was very good as well. I would say, this place would be a very good date night place or the place to go for a special celebration.
GX M — Google review
We were traveling from Missouri and ended our trip here and it was absolutely fantastic experience. Gents (sp?) was our server and he made our experience fantastic. You can tell he took pride in his work and was proud to work there. I had the short rib ravioli and it was delicious. My husband had the flat iron steak with chimichurri sauce. The sourdough bread was fantastic. We are road tripping and were worried we’d be under dressed in jeans and nice shirts but maybe because it was Oktoberfest weekend everyone was super casual. It was a tad loud maybe because of drunk Oktoberfesters, mainly the people at the bar. The wine list was insane and whiskey/bourbon choices were plentiful. If we lived here we would come here regularly. We are well traveled foodies and not easily impressed and this place was delightful.
Jenny F — Google review
Love the atmosphere and the vibes. The dimmed lighting is so perfect for a date night. We were seated right away without waiting since we arrived at 5p. The food was amazing and great portions. Only negative thing was that we waited an hour for our entrees other than that I have no other complaints.
Salina V — Google review
There is no other place like this in LaCrosse. If you’re looking for the best place to eat, look no further. The service is perfection, knowledgeable, prompt. Food is incredible, delicious, fastidiously prepared. Atmosphere is classy yet unpretentious. Dress up, dress down, no pretense. Seriously go to this place and enjoy one of the best meals of your life.
Shawn K — Google review
Dinner and drinks were incredible! The aesthetic exudes classy upscale modern supper club. The service was top notch.
Cheryl I — Google review
We had an absolutely amazing experience at Lovechild. From the wait, which was not bad considering a busy Friday evening on a holiday weekend, to our server, who was so excited to tell us more about every item we were interested in, the service was above and beyond. The food was incredible, with highlights being the homemade pasta, steak, and dessert options. The wine menu is almost overwhelmingly extensive, and the cocktails are all unique and inspired. We will be back the next time we're in La Crosse, and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a special evening in the area.
Mike — Google review
My husband and I loved our meal at Lovechild and had great service from Larson. Delicious and refreshing apple-Manchego salad, fabulous lamb shank, and amazing beef tenderloin. We had a lovely bottle of Cava, too. The atmosphere is beautiful. We’re from the Minneapolis area, and wished we lived closer. This place is a gem!

Just stopped in to support local businesses and I will say their Rye Whiskey is pretty close to Jack Daniel’s in my estimation but be careful…bit stronger than Jack so you may need some ice enhancement! Very brief but positive interaction with the staff and very good experience overall! Staying in a local hotel at the time but had to give them a whirl! Recommended!

We did not eat but enjoyed the beverages. Addison can pour water with the best of them...as well as make fantastic drinks and recommend flights. Fun place with good drinks!

Stopped a couple times on our La Crosse weekend and had excellent and attentive service both times from Joseph. The Asian spiced Crispy Brussels Sprouts were terrific. The Rye Old Fashioned was in the top 5 all time for me and my wife liked her Nutty Blueberry just as much. Definitely will become a regular stop for us on future trips to La Crosse.
Scott R — Google review
We make it a point to come in each time we are in town. This trip, we had such fantastic service, food, and drinks that we ate/drank here FOUR times in three days, lol! The Brussels are amazing, as are the smoked wings. We like the Robber's Rye. Be sure to try a cocktail. The staff comes up with recipes and they are delicious (I had the Live Lav Love). The customer service here is off the charts. Everyone was friendly and attentive, even when the place was full. Huge thanks to Addison, Tanner, Justin, and Ben for such a great time on our trip. We can't wait to visit again next Irish Fest time (or sooner!).

Went in today for lunch and had above and beyond service. No where in the area serves a good nashville hot sandwich, so after finding out they have one on the menu here I had to try it. Movie theater
The Rivoli Theatre & Pizzeria in La Crosse, Wisconsin is a historic theater that offers a unique combination of pizza, beer, and wine alongside showings of both kid-friendly and adult films. This theater provides a true dinner and movie experience where you can enjoy freshly made gourmet pizzas while watching a variety of movies, including first-run Hollywood films as well as classics.
This is a charming must-see theater where you can have food and drinks and enjoy the beautiful character of the venue. It has historic charm, a peaceful ambiance, & is a rare opportunity to see! Inexpensive tickets for those on a budget! Absolutely love going there every chance I get.
J M — Google review
Rivoli Theatre and Pizzeria is a fun, nostalgic spot that brings together the charm of an old-school movie theater with the convenience of in-theater dining. The spacious seating with tables is perfect for a comfortable movie experience, and the added perk of ordering food and having it delivered right to your seat is a treat. The theater has a lovely vintage vibe that adds to its unique character. They serve beer and soda. The pizza was decent, though the crust was a bit doughy for my taste, and the popcorn, though tasty, was prepared ahead of time, leaving it slightly mushy. However, the friendly staff, dressed in festive Halloween costumes, made the visit extra enjoyable. Overall, Rivoli Theatre and Pizzeria offers a great mix of atmosphere and entertainment, making it a fun place to catch a movie with a meal!
Traci T — Google review
Love. Love. Love. This theater! Amazing cult movie nights, good prices on tickets and food! They serve pizza and alcohol! The seats are comfortable and the staff is friendly! Love going there for date night!

How I haven’t been here more often is beyond me . Nice place great prices and that you can see old and new movies alike ? Sign me up! Love that they even go all in on a theme sometimes, we hit up the Jurassic park showing the other month and man was it great to see on a big screen. Great place! Gotta get the pizza next time, it smelled so good.
Brittany — Google review
A local independent theater and pizzeria offers a unique combination of entertainment and dining. Imagine a small, cozy cinema with a single screen showing classic or independent films, paired with a pizzeria serving gourmet, handmade pizzas. It's a community hub where people can enjoy a movie and a meal in a relaxed, intimate setting, often with a quirky, personal touch that big chains lack.

When in La Crosse, a visit to the Pump House Regional Arts Center is a must. Established in 1977, this non-profit organization was created to enrich the city's cultural scene by repurposing the historic Pump House into an art hub. The center hosts a diverse array of art exhibits featuring works by local and international artists. From rotating exhibits in the galleries to engaging theater performances, there's always something captivating to experience.
Neat historic space right in downtown. Admission is free / donation / or membership based. Multiple gallery spaces and even classes for you to sign up if interested.

Some exhibits and programs I’ve seen here have been quite nice; however, it is also very lacking in a community-building aspect. I’ve gone to people in charge of the place on more than one occasion to get help connecting with artistically-minded people in the broader La Crosse community, but it has not led to anything helpful. There is very little emphasis placed on actually connecting around shared artistic interests at this place overall, and I would not strongly recommend it for this reason.
Kai C — Google review
We attended Cocktails & Cabaret at the Pump House. The performance space was incredibly small and seating very tight. There is only a center aisle, so no matter what you must disturb many people to come or to go.

Nice venue with the exception of needing to go from 2nd floor to the basement due to bathroom renovations. There was an elevator (yeah) but it was poorly placed for guest use (bet it mostly gets used as a freight elevator) and the location was not well marked on the 2nd floor. The program host was gracious in explaining the necessary inconvenience for the ladies and a very generous intermission allowed for a bathroom break. Overall, the facility was clean, well maintained and the chairs in the performance space were very comfortable. Acoustics were fine for a small venue event like this. Also got to do a quick check out of the current art exhibit in the main gallery space on the 1st floor.

We went to an evening theater production here. It was entertaining for sure. I think a little leg room would have been nice but the chair itself was comfortable. What I thought made it awkward is that if anyone during the performance needs to use the restroom or grab a drink, you'd be on the stage with the entertainment. No intermission! Thankfully no one at the show we attended had to make their debut in the play but surely it happens. They do offer you beverage selections before you head up to the performance.

Pump House is such a beautiful asset to the La Crosse community. I’d recommend checking it out, whether you’re just visiting the area or a local. The exhibitions are smaller, but they’re cycled through quickly. We went in February for an Artist reception and it’s already time to make time for Pump House again, they’ve got their new featured artists up. Excited to see the new exhibition. Friendly staff. Cozy environment. I’m looking forward to joining a paint and sip class as soon as it aligns with my schedule. Make sure to check out what they’ve got going on around the time you plan to visit, because they’re doing cool things!

Nice art centre with rotating exhibitions. There was a photography display and a drawing display there when we visited, plus a Boys and Girls Club display upstairs. The layout is easy to walk through and has some interactive points. The info points give great background on the artists and their techniques. This is not a huge building, so you can pop in for a bit while you are in the area and enjoy the art without having to set aside an entire day for it. The rotating exhibitions mean popping in regularly to see the variety. It is a great addition to the area and we enjoy it.

Fine dining restaurant
The Waterfront Restaurant and Tavern is a charming establishment located along the picturesque banks of the Mississippi River. Since its establishment in 2006, this elegant restaurant has been celebrated for its commitment to using locally sourced, farm-to-table ingredients in crafting modern American cuisine. The menu features an array of delectable dishes, including day boat scallops served with linguini, English peas, bacon, and a garlic cream sauce.
Today I visited this establishment with my family and was genuinely impressed. The prices are reasonable, and the food is absolutely delicious. I had the best cream soup from the chef that I’ve ever tasted in my life. I also ordered a pear and gorgonzola salad — it was outstanding. My husband had the steak. The price was fair, and the quality exceeded expectations — tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The grilled vegetables served with it were also full of flavor. Compliments to the chef! I’d also like to highlight the elegant interior. The place has two halls — we were seated in the tavern section, which I definitely recommend. The location is great, and the view from the window is a lovely surprise. Overall, I’m very satisfied and will definitely return tomorrow to try the chef’s soup again.

High end atmosphere look out at the river indoor and outdoor seating. Great food and Kaylee was the best waitress we had in town all week. Came for my birthday it's a nice place. Wagyu beef and yummy martinis farm to table local food too. When back in town we will come here again. Can meet in the bar and have bar food for happy hour. Easy walk downtown. 👍🏻

We have traveled the country for several years and there are a handful of restaraunts that have the trifecta (food, atmosphere, and service). The waterfront has all three in spades. Beautiful decor and ambience. Impeccable food and Sophie, our waitress was an absolute delight. I ordered an Old fashion that was well done with a local whiskey. Steak was perfectly cooked with a delicious salty skin. MacNCheese was unique and delicious. With bread crumbs on top, giving a unique crunch and salty flavor. The pork chop was the standout. Incredible quality and flavor. Every bite was a delight. For desert, my wife got the creme brulee which was as excellent as expected based on the other food. I got the key lime pie. It had a unique take on the pie that was excellent and quite unforgettable. Our waitress, Sophie, was incredible and friendly. She committed a chunk of time to ask about our adventures around the country and had such good insight on the food prepared.

If you cook steak as a staple on the menu the temps have to be better. Our well was pink. The med rare was black and blue and my chicken must have been cooked a week before they served it to me. It was drier than Death Valley. :-(. The other items were good but we came for the meat and it wasn’t great. All the other items got it to three stars. But the meat abuse is unforgivable.

We haven't been to Lacrosse in 10 years. We were very hungry and since the weather was disposing, we decided to choose a place with a terrace. It was one of the best experiences we've had in a while. The view is amazing the food is fabulous and the service is very good. We had Walleye pike on the first day. I'm not much of a fish eater but it was something fabulous. Then the next day just a burger with pear & gorgonzola salad. The price is not very high for such service and food.

Three stores in one: cafe, ice cream shoppe and confectionery. The flow does feel like walking through three different spaces Affogato is pictured and it was truly delicious! Also tried drip coffee and mint chocolate chip / cookies & cream waffle cone. Did not get any candies but they have fudge, truffles, turtles and lots more. You’ll definitely find something for a sweet tooth

Pearl Street Brewery, established in 1999, is a local gem in Wisconsin known for its award-winning Ales and Lagers. The brewery offers a wide range of traditional and experimental beers that cater to both seasoned beer enthusiasts and newcomers. Housed in the old La Crosse boot factory, the brewery's industrial ambiance with low ceilings creates a unique atmosphere for enjoying their 16 different beers on tap. Visitors can also enjoy the outdoor beer garden while sampling from their selection of brews.

Pearl Street brewery is a pretty cool little brewery that moved into the old La Crosse boot factory; it's dark and industrial with low ceilings. They have lots of space with a little outdoor beer garden. They generally have 16 of their beers on tap with a few that well distributed. On my last stop they had lite, a lime, Brown, chocolate strawberry porter, orange hazy IPA, Hopped IPA, Pale Ale, amber wheat, hibiscus sour, citra IPA, Oat Stout, an aged sour, Belgian Quad, margarita sour, a double IPA, and a cucumber seltzer. The service and the patrons are friendly. It is worth a stop and you may catch a band on the right night.

Stopped in @ noon open on Sunday. Being the first & only one at the bar for a bit I had a chance to chat up the friendly beertender Jenna. She helped me build a flight and gave me two samples of beers that piqued my interest... Spruce-A-Lool and Shitty Lyte Beer. Of the five bees I tasted... all were wonderfully delicious. As I exclaimed about the Spruce-A-Lootel "it's not offensive like I assumed and was pleasantly palatable". The Shitty Lyte beer I expected to taste like a regular domestic... had a little..something to it, I can't describe it, but a little punch. Jenna was attentive and funny my whole visit despite the bar filling up w customers. All the customers were equally as funny as we all talked and joked. Don't skip past Pearl Street and your directions are correct when it reads to take a left in to what looks like an apartment parking lot... you go the short distance past that to Pearl Street. I liked that the brewery really covered your palate with light to hoppy to malty and flavorful. I really enjoyed the Siberian Disco Toasted Stout and Java Lava Coffee Stout. I also enjoyed my Old Fashioned, they have a menu of cocktails as well. I definitely won't be waiting another four years for my third stop in to Pearl Street. Thanks Jenna for an afternoon of delicious beer over laughter and brewery styles and beers, cheers!

What a fun place! Beers ranged from traditional to more experimental and each one we tried was really good! Most functional and beautiful flight rack I've seen. Staff was super friendly and fun! Hixon Forest offers a variety of hiking trails, including some that lead to the top of Granddad Bluff. The interconnected trail system in La Crosse is impressive, providing opportunities for hiking and other activities. Visitors can also enjoy themed cruises on the Mississippi River aboard the La Crosse Queen. While some reviewers mentioned concerns about restroom facilities, many appreciated the natural beauty and wildlife sightings along the trails.
Some great trails with some fab static views of the city and surrounding bluffs. Trails are easy to intermediate and are easy to navigate.

Lovely trails, I believe they were rated intermediate. Beautiful views if you're willing to walk a little while to get there. 4 stars instead of 5 because the restrooms are portapotties and kind of gross. However, it is the great outdoors so if you hike often, using the restroom outside isn't a big deal. We also saw frogs and deer which was a huge highlight. Blackberries grow naturally on some parts of the trail. Definitely worth the trip!

The Freighthouse Restaurant is a historic dining establishment located in downtown La Crosse, housed in a former freight house dating back to 1880. The restaurant offers fine dining with a unique railroad decor and multiple dining rooms featuring antique bars and fireplaces. Their menu features a variety of meat and seafood dishes, including prime beef that is naturally aged and hand-cut daily.
January 2025: Stopped by for a team dinner. First time here so I asked the waiter for a recommendation. He suggested the prime rib which sounded good to me. You start by going to the salad 🥗 bar which had a lot of options. When my entree came, I was amazed at the size of the beef. I ordered a medium rare cut but it came out closer to rare. I didn't send it back because I was okay eating it. Service was friendly and attentive. Great place to eat in La Crosse.
Ken W — Google review
Went for a family reunion dinner gathering as an early Father’s Day celebration because one family member suggested it. Probably considered one of the higher-end restaurants in La Crosse area. Ambience and decor was dark, not warm or inviting. Plenty of parking and not a very long wait to get it, although we did have a reservation. Food presentation was decent but the quality left much to be desired. I ordered the Sirloin steak and Scallops combo—the scallops were fine, but the steak was dry and extremely tough because it was overcooked (I had requested medium well) and probably sitting for a bit. Another family had their filet undercooked. The worse part was the asparagus—they were nice and tender, perfectly cooked but had grains of sand so clearly were not washed or rinsed thoroughly. This wasn’t just one spear that had sand grains but every spear on my plate and especially at the heads of the spears. Another family member had the same issue with their asparagus so whoever cooked the batch must have been in a hurry. This is an absolute disappointment for a higher-end restaurant for something so basic. The only reason this wasn’t rated one star was because of the good service of the waitress. Our server was very friendly and even though there were 9 of us which we assumed would automatically result in the 20% tip being added to the check, that did not happen. We of course made sure to tip her well. Frankly all their staff were very friendly. Unfortunately the food quality will deter me from returning the next time I am in town.

Cute place with a great atmosphere. Very cozy and intimate feeling. Stopped in for dinner on a Monday night at around 7:15pm - got seated quickly in a comfy two person booth on the corner. Wine was great and priced affordably. Service was prompt and courteous, although slightly awkward - we were asked about dessert just as our entrees arrived and then asked again after we had 2 bites down. Both of us had steaks; the peppercorn strip was overcooked, tough and underseasoned. Filet was cooked perfectly but woefully underseasoned. The side of asparagus was cooked very poorly - wilty tops and woody stems. Not worth the up charge. I’m sure the place has its moments but it feels like charm is the leading quality here. The food wasn’t too remarkable. Especially when the total before tip was $130 for two steaks and a few glasses of wine.
Steve L — Google review
I had high hopes for The Freighthouse, given its 4.6 ⭐️ reputation and the unique setting, but unfortunately my experience didn’t live up to the expectations. I ordered the 20oz Porterhouse, cooked medium-rare. While it was prepared to the correct temperature, it had absolutely no flavor. For a steakhouse of this caliber, seasoning and flavor should be the highlight, and this was deeply disappointing. I paired it with a baked potato, which honestly ended up being the best part of the meal — simple, but actually enjoyable. On the positive side, our server Kristen (or Kirsten) was excellent. She was friendly, attentive, and clearly did her best to make the evening pleasant. Service was not the issue here. The atmosphere seemed like it had potential with the historic building, but the dining room was noticeably smokey/hazy, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the meal. Overall, this visit fell short. For the price point and the reputation, I expected much better. Good service can’t make up for bland food and a less-than-comfortable dining environment.

First time here and this place was Amazing! The atmosphere is neat, our waitress Sidney was sweet, courteous, and attentive. Best of all was the food. We ordered prime rib and crab legs, man was it delicious. We lucked out due to arriving a bit later and our food portions were huge, the biggest piece of Prime Rib we've ever had. Needles to say, we had a lot of leftover meat, which fed us the following night. Money well spent and totally worth it.

Long day, and we arrived late and near closing. They were kind enough to accept us in but we nearly left when no one came to our table for the first five minutes. My wife had a great piece of salmon with a buttery dipping sauce and I ordered a small sirloin steak with steamed veggies. There was absolutely no seasoning on my food..at all. It came out hot but that’s all I appreciated about it. Pretty expensive for what I received. I very much liked the atmosphere. I enjoy history and it was neat being in the old train station.

We were seated, not busy. But took forever for the server to come to us. Kinda dark in there. Could use more lighting . I ordered blackened Salmon. Presentation of food was nice. Salmon alittle over cooked. Lacked seasoning. Kinda dry. Gnats flying around too. First time here from out of town. Not pleased with service. Food not horrible. Food Was nice and hot which was good. Restaurant
Digger's Sting Restaurant is an elegant old-fashioned steakhouse located just a few blocks from Riverside Park in La Crosse, Wisconsin. With a history spanning over 50 years, this establishment offers an intimate setting and serves prime rib, seafood, and classic cocktails. Visitors have praised the quality of food and service, with particular highlights being the prime rib, clam chowder, and garlic toast. The attentive staff and delicious drinks such as Digger's Margarita have left patrons impressed.
We went to dinner for my birthday. Full disclosure, we both forgot to make a reservation. So we showed up to see if there were any openings. We snagged a reservation for later in the evening and then walked around and visited local establishments in the meantime. Once we got back, we were seated and then greeted by our server. We ordered drinks and started with the Snow Crab and Artichoke Dip for an appetizer. For the record, it was unbelievably delicious. We then both ordered a steak with a seafood addition. The scallops and Cajun shrimp were both fantastic. The steaks were both perfectly cooked and amazing cuts. We ended with the ever famous grasshopper. But since we were full, we split it. I would 100% come back and try more of the menu. The atmosphere is the true supper club vibe.

I had dinner at Digger’s Sting with my three aunts while visiting La Crosse for work. This was my first time here, and I was impressed from the start. The atmosphere has a historic charm, with a beautiful bar and well-set tables. Service was great—our server was down-to-earth, shared the specials, and made us feel well taken care of. We all ended up ordering the specials, and the food didn’t disappoint. The salmon, topped with garlic dill, was packed with flavor—maybe a bit strong for some, but I enjoyed it. Overall, a great experience! I’ll definitely be bringing my wife next time we’re in town. Highly recommend checking this place out!

We stopped at Digger’s based on a recommendation from our Air BNB host on the way from Indiana to South Dakota and absolutely loved it! They had excellent service and fantastic food. The prime rib was especially tasty, and we also really enjoyed the cheese curds and snow crab and artichoke dip. The Cajun shrimp were also tasty, and so was their soup. If I lived closer, I would frequent this spot. For what we got, the menu was reasonably priced. Our service was also great, especially considering how full the restaurant was. Don’t be deceived by the older exterior and missing lights on the sign - the inside of this restaurant is very charming and the food is wonderful.

We loved the cheese curds, Caesar salad, battered shrimp, and prime rib. Super disappointed in the steak fries as they were chewy….not good. Mashed potatoes were okay. Definitely would have liked better tasting sides! Love the atmosphere.

My husband had 14oz boneless ribeye. Steak was cooked to perfection at med rare. Everything was outstanding including the old fashioned. I had shrimp Alfredo. Service was top notch.

Cody provided great service. He knew when to come check on us and served food and drink in a reasonable time. The prime rib was tender and juicy including the pellicle and was seasoned just right so we could enjoy the steak with or without au jus or horse radish. Making reservations on line was easy, thank you. The Maple/brown sugar and blackberry old fashioned was a great way to end a great meal. Atmosphere is perfect for a dinner club: quiet, prime rib, old fashioned, good craft beer. The only thing missing was the ice cubes in the urinal.

I was given a choice of where to celebrate my birthday. I chose Diggers. Four guests were from out of town/state and it was there first visit. We were seated immediately. Our server Maddie was amazing! Kudos to her for her professionalism and friendliness. Orders were of steak, prime rib and salmon. Everyone raved about the food. Generous portion sizes so got to enjoy our meals again. I love the atmosphere. No bright lights, unique decor, just different from any place. Never felt rush and even brought me an ice cream treat for my birthday. It was a perfect night spent with loved ones.

Enjoyed our visit at Diggers Saturday night, October 25th immensely. Everything was spot on from the appetizer crab artichoke dip to the end of our meal. Our server Cody was phenomenal and very attentive. Bravo to chef Steven on all of the choices we made at our table of 4. Outstanding! We will certainly be back.

Nestled in the heart of downtown La Crosse, The Root Note is a charming organic café that doubles as an art space and music venue. This delightful spot offers a menu brimming with both sweet and savory crêpes, alongside expertly brewed Kickapoo coffee and Rishi Tea. Indulge in unique creations like the Baby Blue crêpe, featuring sautéed veggies paired with Wisconsin white wine and topped with bleu cheese and a fried egg.
My husband and I brought our kiddos here, and we enjoyed our experience. We drove 2.5 hours for some work stuff and chose this cafe. The barista was really friendly and our coffees were delicious. Waiting for our food as I right this review... I'm sure it's going to be just as great.

I love the sweet crepes they have. They change flavors every so often but they’re always delicious. I tried the grilled cheese with Kale pesto and it was also really good! I always come for the coffee but occasionally will sit down for a meal. They have the best coffee in the area!!

Corey and Jared run a fantastic cafe! From the lovely decor (I love the plants at the front and as a divisor of the space) to the super tasty Gibraltar (i.e. cortado) along with the beautiful latte art, this place is a hidden gem. The coffee selection here is also veryich on point! The only thing I regret is to not have bought a bag of the Colombian coffee that they were serving that day. I'll definitely come back whenever coming by!

We came in from out of town and were so happy to find this place. It exceeded my expectations. We are from Oregon and have had a lot of great coffee. The coffee and the food was delicious. My fiancé and I both loved the breakfast biscuit sandwich. I got it with a gluten-free bun and it was great. I loved the unique flavors of the specialty drinks. The best part was the relaxing atmosphere and the great service. Everyone there seemed happy to be there and happy to answer my long list of questions I always have when I order at a new place. We came back the next day and brought the rest of our family and they loved it too!

The location is great right off the river near the park. The food is decent and prepared quickly. I'm not a fan of self-serve. The roasted bean juice is the best part. Not a big fan of the interior change, the past setup had a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Though I like the hosted local art.

Riverside Amusement Park is a fantastic destination for families and people of all ages to enjoy a day filled with recreational activities. The park offers a variety of entertainment options, including miniature golf, go-kart racing, and batting cages. While some visitors experienced issues with the go-karts, others had an amazing time at the park's attractions. The staff received praise for their patience and excellent service, making it a great place for youth groups and families to visit.
Played some mini-golf with my dad. The course was in great shape and was fun to play. Took 20-30 min to play 18 holes. Friendly staff, too. Will definitely go back if I’m in LaCrosse again! Also did some go-karting in the Bomber. Great value, tons of fun!

Fun course in La Crosse! There is a good variety in challenge. The super steep hill caused my ball to hop into a fence area - not super ideal! But I got it back! The white edging isn't my favorite, especially with tough putts but we managed. There is something about nicely laid brick!! Some holes were hard, some easy. Lots of opportunity for Holey Moleys! We got an ACE on our score card. They are creating a second course with some interesting looking obstacles. We look forward to returning! Would recommend! Check out Patty Puttz on YouTube for a full episode walk through, filled with trick shots and laughs!

Hours said open until 9:30pm, so we showed up just before 9 to use the batting cages. Bought two tokens and as we were finishing up someone came around to empty the token boxes. At 9:08 I asked if I could buy 2 more tokens from him and he said no, he couldn't and he thought the registers were closed too, basically telling us we were done, even though they were open for another 20 minutes and we would've been 5-10.

After attending a concert at the La Crosse Center, it was apparent that the central location was not ideal for a music venue due to poor sound quality. The performance by Justin Moore on 4/20 left my left ear hurting from the reverberating sound. Despite having attended numerous indoor and outdoor concerts before, this experience was far from enjoyable. However, I must commend the exceptional employees, particularly Nikki K., who were friendly and accommodating.
Seats were comfortable, and staggered so the person in front of you doesn’t block your view. The sound system was awesome. It was loud and clear, but not loud enough to hurt your ears. You could distinguish the individual instruments. The bathrooms were easily accessible and the drinks were reasonably priced.

UW Graduation: Parking is in a lot nearby. Your bag was checked at entry. There was a good amount of seating. Some folding chairs were marked off for handicap access. Concessions was open surprisingly The restrooms had some wait time. There was a good deal of congestion going in and out of the building.

La Crosse Center: A Community Hub The La Crosse Center is a fantastic asset for our community, plain and simple. It's right here in downtown La Crosse, and its spot on the Mississippi River gives it a unique, beautiful backdrop. They've put a lot of work into updating the place, and it really shows. It feels modern, has plenty of room, and they've got all the tech you'd expect for good sound and visuals. That new Riverside Ballroom? It's a great addition, offering a really nice space for events. What truly makes the La Crosse Center work is the team there. They're professional and always go the extra mile to make sure everything runs smoothly. Plus, its location means you're just a short walk from plenty of hotels, places to eat, and other local attractions. It's a reliable choice for everything from big conventions to concerts, and it consistently delivers. It's a genuine community hub that we're lucky to have. Live your best life!
Ginja N — Google review
Went to the dwight yoakam concert. The seating was very poor. Uncomfortable chairs, speakers were in the way of a big portion of seats blocking the view to the stage, they even put seats BEHIND the sound tech on the main floor. There were plenty of empty seats but the venue staff was very rude, not letting people sit somewhere they could see or letting people come up to the stage barrier. We got a bucket of beer and this place is so cheap they wouldn't let alone leave with the bucket they got! The only good thing about this whole place was the bands playing.
Kassandra W — Google review

Drew B — Google review
I attended the Dwight Yoakam concert last night. The bands were incredible, but I must say the security staff at the center were overbearing to the point it was distracting from the show. When the lead singer of the Mavericks stops the show, tells security they are being ridiculous not allowing people to dance, proceeds to drop his mic and walk off the stage, you got a problem. Ease up on the police state and let people have fun. How ridiculous. I won’t be back.

4.5-5 My brother has birthday parties here almost every year, and although it's a little pricey, and if at capacity overcrowded, I've never been there while it is too bad. Go for day trips on rainy days, birthday parties, etc.. love going here, staff listen to kids(usually) and as long as everyone is careful it's very fun! Have fun into adults who seem to think it's only for them, don't look other ways when jumping, etc. been pushed a couple times into pits/off trampoline by adults like that. Do eat food before coming tho, they don't really have many options. Otherwise great!

Great place to bring the family. Very clean and well maintained. Downside super hot! They have an exhaust fan but didn't have it on. They are also short staffed thus you need to find someone to open a area to use it. So your wasting the time you bought to jump/play on waiting for them.

We went to Jump Start mid-day on a Wednesday and pretty much had the place to ourselves. It was my daughter's 13th birthday and the staff was 100% AMAZING. They even allowed my daughter to choose songs from her personal playlist, which added value to our family's experience. Big KUDOS to Jason, who displayed SO MUCH patience while waiting for my daughter to build up enough courage to do the Mega Drop. It was extremely warm inside, especially on the upper level, so Jason's willingness to let my kids do the Mega Drop is commendable. We think Jason should get a pay raise for his attention to detail, his willingness to help make the guest experience memorable, and his patience throughout the 2 hours that we were there. Jason even paid for my daughter's ice cream!! Thank you, Jason, and the Jump Start crew for a great experience! p.s. If it hadn't been so warm inside, I would have given Jump Start a 5-star rating. It was otherwise a 5-star experience!

The park also features decent fishing spots and a good disc golf course making it an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts. I have been to the beach many many many many years ago but not to the park area. My girlfriend and I went there to fish and we were pleasantly surprised to find several fishing docks with railings and pole holders. Also was a porta potty and a covered picnic table area with very easy shore access for fishing too. Looking forward to going there again and spend the day fishing and grilling some food.

Huge park, connected to the beach, great place to picnic, plenty of space and not likely to be overcrowded compared to the smaller parks in La Crosse. Definitely worth checking out on a beautiful day and a good alternative across the river from La Crosse. Plenty of areas to fish from as well if you want to fish from the shore.

The park is beautiful and it's a wonderful place along the river to just hike or picnic or hang out especially in the fall. I went there to fish though and it was very crowded at all the spots that I normally go to. The High Roller Skating Center of La Crosse offers a unique and exciting experience for children to have fun. This well-designed amusement center provides the perfect setting for kids to enjoy the sport of skating. Parents appreciate this place because it keeps their children entertained with various energetic skating games such as HillBilly Run, Pongapalooza, Dodgeball, Dime Game, Races, Capture the Flag, and more.
I had my son's 16th birthday party there last night and it was a great time for all. I think some kids/people think a skating party is just for little kids, but that is not the case. His group of friends had a blast! Everything was organized very well, and I was surprised how good the pizza was. The best $100 I have spent, I highly recommend.
Ang B — Google review
Well maintained rink with some small town vibes! Extremely well maintained hybrid flooring and the cheapest rink I have been to hands down anywhere recently at $6.17 after tax! Rink is on the smaller side. Rentals included! Unfortunately I forgot my skates and used the rentals, they aren't bad for rental skates tho (pictured). Went on a Thursday from 5-6pm and the atmosphere was pretty relaxed (video). Free lockers to store stuff, although I'm not sure all the keys actually worked. Pizza looked good too! They played a fun "Ghostbusters" game during the first hour which has you changing skating direction constantly, that's different! Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.
Jason B — Google review
I was very disappointed to learn that there is an entry fee just to watch my children skate. As a disabled veteran who is unable to skate myself, it feels unfair to be charged simply for attending as a spectator. Additionally, my 88-year-old grandmother was also required to pay an entry fee, which seems unreasonable. I had planned to support your business by purchasing food from the snack bar, but this policy has left me reconsidering. I hope you will take feedback like this into account and consider adjusting your entry fee structure for disabled non-skating guests.
Kyle K — Google review
Dude what an awesome place. I haven't gone skating since middle school back 15 years ago. Me and my girlfriend went tonight and it was a blast. The vibe was totally positive. Couple people fell down and nobody laughed or made a big deal. Couple really good skaters there were fun to watch. The lady at the door/front counter was very friendly and smiling. The rental skates were pretty solid. My gf got the roller blades and can't speak for those. She wasn't going very fast tho. I was zipping around having a great time. I think I paid like $13 or $14 bucks for the two of us to get in and rent the skates. What a great price! Don't listen to the negative reviews. Idk how the one guy spent over $100 just on getting in. The lady complaining about the arcade too? Dude it's a roller rink! Go skate! The lighting on the floor was awesome, the music slapped, the guest and staff were great. Yes the rink is on the smaller side, but it wasn't very crowded and man it was a ton of fun! I seriously cannot wait to to back!

Such wonderful owners. I think the indoor playground inside is worth going just for that! There's the roller rink, arcade, and playground options for the kids. They also have food and drinks. It's always a great time!
Bekky M — Google review
Wife and I went to enjoy ourselves, ended up getting harassed by a group of unaccompanied minors and were barely there 15 minutes. The place seems nice, the facilities looked good. They have a selection of rental blades or quads. Shame we didn't get to stay longer. We reported the kids to the manager (owner?) and received a refund and tickets to adult night. Unfortunately we're both working adults and don't have time on a Friday night. We won't be going back. If you're an adult looking for a place to skate around, I would avoid this place until they change their policy on allowing unaccompanied minors to attend. I highly recommend Galaxie Skate Center in Richland Center. Edit: After seeing another review, it seems that this is a recurring problem and their policy definitely needs to be addressed.

Cavalier Theater and Lounge is a vintage watering hole and theater with an art deco atmosphere. It offers a wide selection of signature cocktails and hosts regular concerts, creating an easy-going atmosphere for visitors. The venue is known for its friendly bartenders, diverse theatrical shows, and infectious energy during live performances. With a rich history, it's considered one of the best places in town to enjoy oldies music or catch a great band while sipping on expertly made cocktails.
Going to events here is fun. I just wish the floor was leveled out or the seats were put back in somehow. It's hard to stand on an incline as an old person 😅

It's actually a pretty small music hall. I was going to an overtime concert expecting more people and a bigger area. Worst part of it all was as a $ 130v.i.p ticket holder I was treated no different than the people who paid 25 dollars to get in. Had no arrangements for v.i.p just charge more for the higher price ticket.

Dirty, dingy, rundown. Owner is a creep who likes to post in the 3rd person and rant on social media. Bar literally has bugs in the bottles. He's been caught refilling alcohol bottles on camera in front of patrons which makes me wonder what he's doing behind the scenes. This man has been in the business for decades and can't even make an old fashion..... Oh and now that he can't find real business he just allows a bunch of underage college kids in. This place used to be historical and amazing. Now it's a joke that should be shut down.

Love this venue. Great for live music 🤘
Margie C — Google review
There are seats at this theater, but probably not one left for you, even if you show up early. Buyer beware: if you purchase a ticket here, you are not guaranteed a seat. It seems that the venue actually overbooked this particular event by roughly 50 people. We tried to find a seat for 10 minutes and just decided to leave. There was no disclaimer on Cavalier Theater's website that it would be standing room only (because they overbooked). If you'd like to see anything here, I would recommend arriving half an hour early if they'll even let you in that soon. On a positive note, the theater itself was very unique and seems like an old gem.

The place was packed with people we got are drinks in a timely manner with only 1 miscommunication which the bar tender fixed right away and without hesitation, the mix drinks although correctly made, were not consistent. I personally had 3 mixed drinks, I asked for doubles, the first was a strong double the next one was not a double but was charged as if it were a double and the 3rd was an exact double because the bar tender used the shot mixer to measure it out. But overall it was a great night.

Rotary Lights in Riverside Park, hosted by the local Rotary Club every December, is a must-visit holiday attraction. The extravagant Christmas light displays, live nativity scenes, reindeer, and an ice rink create a magical atmosphere for visitors. Families can enjoy free activities like s'mores, visits with Santa, and hayrides while taking in the festive ambiance.
December just got a whole lot brighter, thanks to this event. The light decorations are pure magic, and they really get the festive party started. Rotary lights are the main attraction in this adorable Mississippi town, and for good reason - it's a dazzling display of color and light. And, of course, Santa and his reindeer are the icing on the cake. This was my second Christmas here, and I'm still grinning from ear to ear.

This was such a fun experience! There are a myriad of light displays, free s’mores, live music, and good vibes all around. They also have hot chocolate for sale. The lights and music are synced up and are very fun to walk through. You can either drive through or walk, although I would recommend walking as you get to really enjoy all the decorations and cheer!
Mia T — Google review
The best light display! We live in La Crosse and take this for granted for sure!! It's all free to enter driving or walking (but ask for monetary or food donations). There's s'mores, Santa, live nativity, reindeer, ice rink, hot cocoa for purchase, free hayrides, carriage rides to purchase and more! We always go multiple times a season! An incredible way to celebrate the holidays!
Bekky M — Google review
Always a favorite stop for the holidays! Lots of cool light and Christmas displays, places to get warm, hot chocolate and snacks, plus Santa and a gift shop! So fun for the whole family. Bundle up because it's almost always a little colder being down by the river. Bring food donations if you can, as the display is free and they run off of donations and concession sales!
Jordan H — Google review
A well put together and gorgeous light display. There was multiple areas with different music and different themes. There was live action actors for a christmas story and fire breathing dragons! The only think missing on my visit was the snow. There was snacks and hot chocolate, roasting marshmallow pits and even horse drawn carriages to take you through! You can walk through or drive on the road loop.

Bed & breakfast
Bentley-Wheeler Bed and Breakfast is an award-winning establishment that showcases the historic Queen Anne architecture of the 1890s. The property boasts lavish spindlework and a second-story porch with original house exterior views. Once home to prominent figures like Edward E. Bentley, president of Batavian Bank, and J.E. Wheeler, president of La Crosse Exchange State Bank, this B&B exudes character and history.
We stayed in the ballroom suite. It was marvelous and central to so many of the fun adventures we had. It is also great to just sit and relax in from the balconies, claw foot tub, and fainting couch to the comfy bed and full kitchen. We are planning to come back next year for a few more days. Hosts were so personable and friendly. Just the best b&b I've ever been to.
Brenda W — Google review
This is our second visit in the last two months. I have never loved a B&B this much. The top floor ballroom is simply magical. The owners are so genuine. I can't put into words the uniqueness of this place and the love i have for it. Highly recommend.
Kristen C — Google review
Far exceeds expectations. What a treat and it was my birthday. Almost didn’t want to leave the space for the show I came to see at the Lacrosse center. Full kitchen, treats, coffee bar and REAL milk. Honestly I can’t say enough. If I’m ever in this part of the country again, this will be where I stay.
Kristina W — Google review
An absolutely breathtaking bed and breakfast. The hosts were amazing. They were so much fun, gave us the inside scoop on where to go and what to see. We had an early morning fishing charter and there was hot coffee and snacks ready to go by the time we left at 530am! My wife, Rita, and I absolutely loved the experience! We will definitely be back. Oh, and my wife has not stopped talking about the wonderful beds. Apparently I need to find out the make of the mattress and everything else that was on your beds - SO comfy!

Jay and Ken are fantastic. Very fun, kind and helpful. Great to visit with. They go above and beyond to make your stay memorable. An elegant Bed & Breakfast. The Ballroom Suite is an amazing experience.
Mark J — Google review
I did not stay here, I had friends staying here I got a short tour of the house and it's beautiful. My friends say that it is comfortable and well worth it. Definitely some place to keep in mind if you want to B&B in Lacrosse.
Jonathan H — Google review
This house has been restored beautifully. Jay and Ken made our stay very memorable. I thought I wasn't a B&B guy but this experience changed my mind and my wife and I will defiantly be going back to the Bentley-Wheeler again!
Mike B — Google review
We booked the ballroom suite a month ago and recieved our confirmation email 2 days ago only to be notified the morning we got to town that they somehow managed to overbook the room and all they had was an auxillary room with a restroom across the hall. They offered to comp that room but it was not what we were looking for. The mistake was blamed on their computer system but in the email to us they mentioned that it was possible to go into the system manually. It would seem to me that the professional thing to do would be to check for overbookings before the confirmation emails go out a few days in advance. Now we are just going to go home. We are very disappointed as we had really been looking forward to our stay. Call and ask them for certain confirmation if you are planning on staying here

Fayze's Restaurant and Bakery is a popular casual eatery and bar located in downtown. It offers a wide variety of American dishes, cocktails, and freshly baked goods including their signature Lebanese bread. The restaurant is known for its delectable pastries and bread that are sure to satisfy any sweet cravings. Customers often have to wait for a table, but the delicious food makes it worth the wait.
Tried this local hot spot after the LaCrosse Half Marathon and ended up waiting about 45 minutes for a table, which, considering the large size of our party, was not bad. We were able to sit and wait in the bar area and have a cocktail where I ordered a "spicy" Bloody Mary, which was delicious but not spicy at all. They seated us upstairs, and there was plenty of room for all of us. My husband had the Traditional Breakfast with crispy bacon and said everything was served perfectly. I had the Cinnamon Swirl French Toast with a side of bacon, and that was absolutely amazing! The pieces were thick yet light, airy, and perfectly sized. Our waitress, who definitely had her work cut out for her, did a great job. She was attentive, quick and very pleasant. It's understandable why this place is a LaCrosse must.
Mel B — Google review
If you’re coming this week, just be prepared to wait. I also encourage you to be patient and kind as they are short staffed and swamped. We waited about 45 minutes to get seated and about 30 minutes for food. When all was said and done, our server was friendly, they kept our coffee full, the portions were pretty big and overall the food was tasty. I’m glad we got to stop for this La Crosse staple before they close on October 8. And yeah, the buns are really good.
Christina M — Google review
The service was above great. We were never overlooked or passed by without a quick check in. Server's were always smiling and pleasant. Food was delicious. 7yr old daughter told waiter it was definitely worth the wait. Lol, not long really. Definitely would recommend. And definitely enjoy the Talame bread, which is world famous and made here!
Randy B — Google review
They serve a great breakfast! Very busy place on the weekend, but not a terribly long wait for two people (about 45 mins). The Eggs Benedict was delicious. The English Muffin was well toasted but the eggs could have been runnier. I also tried their cheese curds which were good. The service was very good. From the host running the show to the young folks in charge of seating you to the waiters taking care of you, all of that experience was really pleasant. It was a busy Saturday, but none of the staff seamed stressed out. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our experience.
Joseph W — Google review
Just thoroughly enjoyed our brunch here. Everything was so good from staff to food to bakery item. Their talame bun is just incredible and so unique. Love the ambience too and they have some vegetarian options. A must place to stop by if you are in Lacrosse.
Shalini K — Google review
Stopped in on a Sunday morning, the wait was 45-60 min. We put our name down on a list and wandered around town, came back and our table was ready. We had eggs Benedict, corned beef hash & had to try the WI cheese curds. The eggs Benedict was flavorful, had good texture. The eggs weren’t as runny as my BF would’ve liked, but it was definitely tasty. He did comment on how great the English muffin was, and it was crispy! I had the corned beef hash, it was good, a little dry but tasted great. I decided on a Talame bun, didn’t know what to expect but it was good. Why not try something new in a city you’ve never been. Lastly, the cheese curds were pretty good too. They had great flavor, and ranch as dipping sauce. Since we’ve been here in LaCrosse we’ve had cheese curds at another restaurant which we weren’t a big fan of. The service at the restaurant was good, from the check to the seating experience. If you’re in LaCrosse, check this place out. Prices are affordable too!
Q J — Google review
We enjoyed a few meals here in the past few years. We had a few fish fry dinners on Friday nights. The food was always good, but you could tell they were short staffed in the evenings. We had breakfast this September and got delicious french toast and omelet with pretty fast service. We always enjoyed their bakery items. Sad to see them close.
Yuliang H — Google review
This was a pleasant surprise. We are not from the area, but we're passing through and decided to stay the night. Saw this place online that was close to our hotel and decided to give it a try. Great people. A cozy place to eat. Great food. More comfort food than fancy, but they did a great job.

4 Sisters Wine Bar & Tapas Restaurant is a casual eatery during lunchtime, but transforms into a chic and urbane location in the evening with scenic views of the Mississippi River from its lounge. The menu offers an eclectic selection of tapas, seafood, and steak entrees. It's a great spot for gathering with friends or enjoying after-work happy hour due to its unique tapas menu perfect for sharing.
Quite honestly, I could go on and on about 4 Sisters Wine Bar & Tapas. I was so impressed with this restaurant. My mom said that last time they were in lacrosse that day had a meal here and really liked it. Boy was that an understatement. They have a beautiful patio space overlooking the riverfront park and the river itself. Inside the restaurant is cozy, but not crammed, all of the staff was very friendly, and I was absolutely floored by the quantity and quality of food you get for the prices on the menu. To give you an idea of the prices, we ordered these two “starters“ and after a 20% tip, it was still under $40. We had such a hard time deciding what to get. My mom remembered having the nachos and raved about them so we had to go with that and we opted for adding shrimp. Then, almost anytime I see ahi tuna on the menu I have to get it. The tuna was light and refreshing, but the star of the show were these nachos with fresh chips, layered toppings, so that it wasn’t all just on top, the bang bang sauce on them was spicy, but not overpowering, and there was plenty of shrimp throughout. They are happy hour specials had good drink prices and their bourbon list was possibly the most impressive one I have seen in a restaurant date. If you’re staying in the cross, passing through, or just need an excuse to explore a beautiful city, I’m sold. After eating there we drove down through the riverfront park and the city’s tribute to their sister cities was BEAUTIFUL. I’m definitely going to make time to go through there again.
Alex W — Google review
We were told our food was delayed due to my steak not being medium rare on the first try. When we received the meal the steak was like beef jerky (and with too much salt) & the potatoes too salty. Most of it was too salty and dry. Maybe it was an off night for the chief or they were newly hired. Definitely NOT what I expected of each dish for the price. Two stars for tasty house wine for a great price.
Ashley G — Google review
This was a great find for 4 out of state visitors! We loved that the tables facing the river front. Tapas were decadent (blackened shrimp & fig/brie dip), drinks were good, and entrées were delicious. I wish the signage was more obvious as Google Maps wasn't much help once we arrived in the parking lot.
Punkin0425 — Google review
Stopped by here this afternoon with a buddy and my father and had a lovely time. Be careful ordering too many tapas as they aren't normal size tapas, but more of meal size tapas. We started out ordering the; Mini Blu Burgers, Fish Tacos and Empenadas to kick off the meal and each one was full of flavor, but if i had to pick, the empenadas stole the show. For our main dishes we ordered; The blackend shrimp alfredo, Buffalo Trace beef tips and the tenderloin salad. Each plate was delicious in their own way and definitely will be back!
Jeremy G — Google review
A relaxing place next to Riverside Park. Indoor dining is comfortable. Outdoor dining can be a challenge during summer evenings because of the sun. There are good menus for food and drink. I like having the tapas because you can get everything you want without overdoing it (we got the empanadas to go for breakfast). And the selection of tapas are very good and satisfying. There is an entree menu as well. It was our first time at their restaurant but not our first time in La Crosse. We will be returning to 4 Sisters!
Christopher G — Google review
Staff are professional and generous. Maria helped us have a great experience. However the cheese journey was surprisingly like something we’d get at a grocery store and in two hours prepare for a dinner party. Then the pepperoni pizza was on par with pizzas we’d get at said grocer. The shrimp bacon was way overcooked. Besides that, other dishes like the ceviche were a highlight. it’s a place with lovely view. Might return.
Silas P — Google review
Absolutely terrible!! The host let several other parties be seated before us! We waited over 2 hours, we were told 1 hour. We watched a couple next to us get seated before us, they showed up 30 mins after us! FYI There are NO reservations, so why would the host seat them before us! The bartender was well aware and questioned what was going on to the host. Absolutely disappointed and will never go back! This was absolutely unacceptable! We left and didn’t even eat… 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

The shop has garnered praise for its unique atmosphere that exudes a perfect small-town feel. I love coming to Jules. The ambience is always great and so is the service. Everyone is so friendly and I always get something I like. I don’t have pictures of the other items I have gotten but the raspberry ice white mocha is delish ish, there soups are always great portions and filling, and last but not least the crepes are amazing. I have gotten the caramel apple crepe and the strawberries and cream one and they are both great. 10/10 would recommend

I took my girlfriend here for one of our first dates recently because she highly recommended it. It had great breakfast food and iced coffee and was buzzing with college-aged people. The staff was friendly and quick to make and deliver our food to the table. The restroom had an interesting quirk with a sink that had two different faucets for hot and cold, but I thought it was cool (no pun intended). Keep in mind, also, that the parking is mainly parallel parking on the street, so be mindful of that if you're like me and have rarely ever parallel parked in your life. Overall, I'd definitely come here again for another breakfast date.

Jules Coffee House is a delightful haven for anyone seeking a warm, inviting atmosphere and exceptional coffee. From the moment you step inside, the aroma of freshly brewed beans and the gentle hum of conversation create a comforting ambiance. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready with a smile and a recommendation. The coffee itself is truly outstanding. Whether you prefer a classic latte, a bold espresso, or a unique specialty drink, Jules has you covered. Their commitment to quality is evident in every cup, using carefully sourced beans and expert brewing techniques. The pastries and light bites available are equally delicious, complementing the coffee perfectly. Beyond the excellent offerings, Jules fosters a sense of community. It's a place where you can relax, work, or catch up with friends, feeling completely at ease. The cozy seating, tasteful décor, and soft lighting contribute to a truly enjoyable experience. If you're looking for a top-notch coffee shop with a welcoming vibe, Jules Coffee House is an absolute must-visit.

Sent here by a friend that used to live in the area. This place is really cute. Plenty of drink options and even food made to order. Have you ever seen an iced coffee flight? They have it. Street parking. Typical prices. Bathrooms available. We will come back.
J M — Google review
I've said it before I'll say it again. This is my favorite coffee shop. It's the best for studying and has some of the best (without being overpriced) espresso in the area. They have affogato! Everyone needs to try espresso over ice cream trust me. :):) the baristas are awesome and the scones here are the ONLY ones I've found that are "proper" scones, biscuit-y rather than dry. :)
Grace P — Google review
This place had the best avocado toast in town, or at least from the 3 places I tried it. Great atmosphere, loved that it was connected to the bookstore! I appreciated the selection of different seats and types of chairs. Some of the other coffee shops in town had very narrow seats, I appreciated that there were several comfy options here that my hips actually fit in. A great place to sit and get some writing done.
Jenn V — Google review
Awesome coffee place. Tried one of their iced coffees, and purchased an espresso flight, which was great both presentation wise and taste wise. The atmosphere is very laid back, and the lighting is not blinding or overpowering, which is very appreciated. They have booths and tables. There are two tables which allow for chess or checkers play, and a box that provides the pieces. This was quite exciting, and we took advantage. I didn't have time to try any sandwiches or crepes, but will next time I'm there. It might well raise my review to 5 stars. I highly recommend this coffee shop.

Cute space and amazing crepes! Husband had berry and cream crepe and I had the cinnamon, brown sugar crepe. Both so good! They had just pulled bacon from the oven and accommodated our craving with a side of bacon even though it's not in the menu. 5 stars all around!

I grew up in La Crosse and when I was visiting I stopped in to pick up a bunch of Talame buns and rolls to bring home for my sister and myself. In 2 days, when I got home they had all molded before the sell by date which was the day I got them home. We were so bummed because we were excited to have the tasty dinner rolls from our childhood. My sister reached out and the staff that responded were AMAZING! Not only did they assure they let their baking team know just in case others were like that but they even went the extra mile as to mail us a check to cover the cost of what we bought. Wow! Thank you so much for the amazing customer service. I’ll be back in town next month and will make sure I stop in to pick up more and continue to support this co-op!

Wow, what an experience at a locally owned, small town feel, bait shop! The big guy at the counter was extremely helpful on what bait to use and where to find fish at. My son and I rented a 15 HP fishing boat and were extremely impressed with the practically brand Yamaha motor and fish finding electronics. All said and done, spent about $100 (Rental, bait and license). Well worth it for the life long memories we created!

Helpful and friendly staff. We rented the XL pontoon for a multigenerational family of 9. The price was better than other locations. The boat was comfortable and in very good condition. We took it up to Trempealeau where we stopped for lunch. It's a beautiful stretch of the river.

I am from the area and was looking to rent a boat for my boyfriend's birthday. The service was phenomenal. Overall, the service and price are outstanding, and their staff is ready to help if any issues arise on the water. We will definitely be renting here again! I highly recommend Schaefer's River Rentals.

This boat rental operation is not large but they are wonderful. They did a nice orientation to the boat we rented as we were not as familiar with a fishing boat. They have a small store with bait, maps and sodas. If you want food beyond chips and Snickers, stop on the way. Onalaska lake is beautiful. We are not fishermen but the fishing boat was just right for the two of us.
