The Waterfront Restaurant and Tavern is a charming establishment located along the picturesque banks of the Mississippi River. Since its establishment in 2006, this elegant restaurant has been celebrated for its commitment to using locally sourced, farm-to-table ingredients in crafting modern American cuisine. The menu features an array of delectable dishes, including day boat scallops served with linguini, English peas, bacon, and a garlic cream sauce.
Today I visited this establishment with my family and was genuinely impressed. The prices are reasonable, and the food is absolutely delicious. I had the best cream soup from the chef that I’ve ever tasted in my life. I also ordered a pear and gorgonzola salad — it was outstanding. My husband had the steak. The price was fair, and the quality exceeded expectations — tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The grilled vegetables served with it were also full of flavor. Compliments to the chef! I’d also like to highlight the elegant interior. The place has two halls — we were seated in the tavern section, which I definitely recommend. The location is great, and the view from the window is a lovely surprise. Overall, I’m very satisfied and will definitely return tomorrow to try the chef’s soup again.

High end atmosphere look out at the river indoor and outdoor seating. Great food and Kaylee was the best waitress we had in town all week. Came for my birthday it's a nice place. Wagyu beef and yummy martinis farm to table local food too. When back in town we will come here again. Can meet in the bar and have bar food for happy hour. Easy walk downtown. 👍🏻

We have traveled the country for several years and there are a handful of restaraunts that have the trifecta (food, atmosphere, and service). The waterfront has all three in spades. Beautiful decor and ambience. Impeccable food and Sophie, our waitress was an absolute delight. I ordered an Old fashion that was well done with a local whiskey. Steak was perfectly cooked with a delicious salty skin. MacNCheese was unique and delicious. With bread crumbs on top, giving a unique crunch and salty flavor. The pork chop was the standout. Incredible quality and flavor. Every bite was a delight. For desert, my wife got the creme brulee which was as excellent as expected based on the other food. I got the key lime pie. It had a unique take on the pie that was excellent and quite unforgettable. Our waitress, Sophie, was incredible and friendly. She committed a chunk of time to ask about our adventures around the country and had such good insight on the food prepared.

If you cook steak as a staple on the menu the temps have to be better. Our well was pink. The med rare was black and blue and my chicken must have been cooked a week before they served it to me. It was drier than Death Valley. :-(. The other items were good but we came for the meat and it wasn’t great. All the other items got it to three stars. But the meat abuse is unforgivable.

One of our favorite spots for special occasions! We came for the Mother’s Day brunch and everything was phenomenal most definitely worth the price. Even the baby loved the dessert! We’ll definitely be back for more celebrations.

We haven't been to Lacrosse in 10 years. We were very hungry and since the weather was disposing, we decided to choose a place with a terrace. It was one of the best experiences we've had in a while. The view is amazing the food is fabulous and the service is very good. We had Walleye pike on the first day. I'm not much of a fish eater but it was something fabulous. Then the next day just a burger with pear & gorgonzola salad. The price is not very high for such service and food.

Lovechild is a stylish modern supper club in La Crosse, offering seasonal American cuisine and a full bar. The restaurant provides a cozy and intimate atmosphere, making it perfect for special occasions or gatherings with friends. Their menu features uncomplicated yet flavorful dishes made with locally-sourced and seasonal ingredients, including options for vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free, and gluten-free diets.
It was an interesting and amazing experience.I'd recommend making reservations since they're only open for a few hours per day. The atmosphere was very nice and the staff was very attentive. They were constantly coming around filing our cups and making sure we didn’t need anything. There was a little bit of wait between appetizers and entrees so I would say to expect to spend about an hour and a half to two hours there. My table ordered a variety of food and we all shared family style. We had the ribeye, lamb, pork and 3 different pastas. Overall, all the food was very tasty. The pork was a bit dry but still tasty. The pasta with shrimp was good. One was dairy free and more lemony, which made it more refreshing. Everyone agreed that the ribeye was the best, and may be one of the best they've had in town. We also had the tres leches cake that was very good as well. I would say, this place would be a very good date night place or the place to go for a special celebration.

We were traveling from Missouri and ended our trip here and it was absolutely fantastic experience. Gents (sp?) was our server and he made our experience fantastic. You can tell he took pride in his work and was proud to work there. I had the short rib ravioli and it was delicious. My husband had the flat iron steak with chimichurri sauce. The sourdough bread was fantastic. We are road tripping and were worried we’d be under dressed in jeans and nice shirts but maybe because it was Oktoberfest weekend everyone was super casual. It was a tad loud maybe because of drunk Oktoberfesters, mainly the people at the bar. The wine list was insane and whiskey/bourbon choices were plentiful. If we lived here we would come here regularly. We are well traveled foodies and not easily impressed and this place was delightful.

Love the atmosphere and the vibes. The dimmed lighting is so perfect for a date night. We were seated right away without waiting since we arrived at 5p. The food was amazing and great portions. Only negative thing was that we waited an hour for our entrees other than that I have no other complaints.

There is no other place like this in LaCrosse. If you’re looking for the best place to eat, look no further. The service is perfection, knowledgeable, prompt. Food is incredible, delicious, fastidiously prepared. Atmosphere is classy yet unpretentious. Dress up, dress down, no pretense. Seriously go to this place and enjoy one of the best meals of your life.

Dinner and drinks were incredible! The aesthetic exudes classy upscale modern supper club. The service was top notch.

We had an absolutely amazing experience at Lovechild. From the wait, which was not bad considering a busy Friday evening on a holiday weekend, to our server, who was so excited to tell us more about every item we were interested in, the service was above and beyond. The food was incredible, with highlights being the homemade pasta, steak, and dessert options. The wine menu is almost overwhelmingly extensive, and the cocktails are all unique and inspired. We will be back the next time we're in La Crosse, and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a special evening in the area.

My husband and I loved our meal at Lovechild and had great service from Larson. Delicious and refreshing apple-Manchego salad, fabulous lamb shank, and amazing beef tenderloin. We had a lovely bottle of Cava, too. The atmosphere is beautiful. We’re from the Minneapolis area, and wished we lived closer. This place is a gem!

Le Chateau is an upscale French restaurant housed in a historic 19th-century mansion, offering a warm and sophisticated ambiance for diners. The menu features classic French dishes such as onion soup, escargot, squid ink pasta with truffle cream sauce, lobster risotto with lemon and edamame, and seared salmon with roasted corn and cucumber couscous. Whether you're seeking a casual dinner or celebrating a special occasion, Le Chateau provides an exquisite dining experience.
Visited for our anniversary dinner. The staff recognized the event but I was surprised they didn't off a dessert as a congrats and thank you. We have not had much "classic French food" so we didn't know what to expect. We ordered two appetizers and two entrees. The smoked salmon app didn't seem to have any smoked flavor so that was odd. The French onion soup was good, but not what I expected. My wife had the salade nicoise, she enjoyed that. I had the steak with fries (it still seems strange to write it) we added on shrimp and lobster and all of these items were cooked really well. I don't use a lot of steak sauce but thinking the French are the sauce kings I inquired. The kitchen made me something on the spot. They should bottle it. As for desserts, those were a home run. I had the French Silk Pie cake and it was amazing with their French pressed coffee. We were allowed to explore the house and it was fun to see. What a place. A masterpiece of construction. It's amazing people could do this level of detailed work way back when. Definitely recommended.

First time here and the ambiance was Amazing! The bar downstairs in the "cave" was really neat, there's plenty of room to sit with friends. We toured the home while we waited for our food. The waitress and staff were friendly, the drinks were delicious and the food was ok. My fish was too salty but I still ate it all. My wife was not happy with her scallops, the noodles were bland and mushy.

My husband and I journeyed to La Cross after hearing recommendations to visit La Cave & The Chateau- both owned by the same people and located in the same stunning vintage house. We started our evening at La Cave and had a marvelous time enjoying custom cocktails. Then we ventured upstairs to The Chateau where we enjoyed delicious French-inspired cuisine. The beautifully decorated rooms enhanced the dinning experience and each bite left us wanting more. Highly recommend!

This restaurant lives up to its name. It's like a castle or a palace with very nicely decorated rooms and a high-class decor. The staff is very nice and the food was delicious. I had the lobster risotto with french onion soup to start and lime cheesecake for dessert.
Verlyn S — Google review
Let’s start with the basics, the food was not good. My husband ordered the duck and received a tiny plate of bland couscous topped with a very small duck breast, that to be fair was cooked at the temp requested. I ordered the steak frite. From past experience I know that when I order a steak medium rare it rarely comes that way, so I specifically asked our server if they will cook it accurately and he reassured me that their Michelin star chef would not have it any other way. Of course my steak came medium well. Realistically, it would have been difficult for anyone to cook it any other way because it was just so thin. Now, if that wasn’t enough, the whole thing was absolutely drenched in salt to the point my tongue shriveled up. This was certainly an expensive disappointment. They did bring us a couple after dinner drinks on the house to make up for the steak, but it turned out to be an undrinkable, overly sweet, orange liquor of some type (not Cointreau). Reviewing the service is a little more challenging because we had a very good experience in downstairs ‘La Cave’ with the bartenders before our formal dinner. The upstairs restaurant service was friendly but uneven. A restaurant pretending to be fine dining needs to train their server properly imo.

We had an exceptional stay for our 25th anniversary! The food was spectacular - my husband had salmon and I had scallops - so good. The dessert was to die for! The aura of the mansion is very elegant- LaCave underneath the restaurant was crazy- with yummy drinks! Highly recommend!

My husband and I recently enjoyed our first meal at Le Chateau and it did not disappoint! Chef Megan cooked everything to absolute perfection! Our server, Carlee, was very attentive, friendly and professional. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend!!

The atmosphere of La Chateau will speak to only certain people, as it has the feel of eating inside a very old home. The interior we will kept and the staff were very inviting. Our service was fast and attentive. But the food. Oh, the food is incredible!

The Freighthouse Restaurant is a historic dining establishment located in downtown La Crosse, housed in a former freight house dating back to 1880. The restaurant offers fine dining with a unique railroad decor and multiple dining rooms featuring antique bars and fireplaces. Their menu features a variety of meat and seafood dishes, including prime beef that is naturally aged and hand-cut daily.
January 2025: Stopped by for a team dinner. First time here so I asked the waiter for a recommendation. He suggested the prime rib which sounded good to me. You start by going to the salad 🥗 bar which had a lot of options. When my entree came, I was amazed at the size of the beef. I ordered a medium rare cut but it came out closer to rare. I didn't send it back because I was okay eating it. Service was friendly and attentive. Great place to eat in La Crosse.

Went for a family reunion dinner gathering as an early Father’s Day celebration because one family member suggested it. Probably considered one of the higher-end restaurants in La Crosse area. Ambience and decor was dark, not warm or inviting. Plenty of parking and not a very long wait to get it, although we did have a reservation. Food presentation was decent but the quality left much to be desired. I ordered the Sirloin steak and Scallops combo—the scallops were fine, but the steak was dry and extremely tough because it was overcooked (I had requested medium well) and probably sitting for a bit. Another family had their filet undercooked. The worse part was the asparagus—they were nice and tender, perfectly cooked but had grains of sand so clearly were not washed or rinsed thoroughly. This wasn’t just one spear that had sand grains but every spear on my plate and especially at the heads of the spears. Another family member had the same issue with their asparagus so whoever cooked the batch must have been in a hurry. This is an absolute disappointment for a higher-end restaurant for something so basic. The only reason this wasn’t rated one star was because of the good service of the waitress. Our server was very friendly and even though there were 9 of us which we assumed would automatically result in the 20% tip being added to the check, that did not happen. We of course made sure to tip her well. Frankly all their staff were very friendly. Unfortunately the food quality will deter me from returning the next time I am in town.

Cute place with a great atmosphere. Very cozy and intimate feeling. Stopped in for dinner on a Monday night at around 7:15pm - got seated quickly in a comfy two person booth on the corner. Wine was great and priced affordably. Service was prompt and courteous, although slightly awkward - we were asked about dessert just as our entrees arrived and then asked again after we had 2 bites down. Both of us had steaks; the peppercorn strip was overcooked, tough and underseasoned. Filet was cooked perfectly but woefully underseasoned. The side of asparagus was cooked very poorly - wilty tops and woody stems. Not worth the up charge. I’m sure the place has its moments but it feels like charm is the leading quality here. The food wasn’t too remarkable. Especially when the total before tip was $130 for two steaks and a few glasses of wine.
Steve L — Google review
I had high hopes for The Freighthouse, given its 4.6 ⭐️ reputation and the unique setting, but unfortunately my experience didn’t live up to the expectations. I ordered the 20oz Porterhouse, cooked medium-rare. While it was prepared to the correct temperature, it had absolutely no flavor. For a steakhouse of this caliber, seasoning and flavor should be the highlight, and this was deeply disappointing. I paired it with a baked potato, which honestly ended up being the best part of the meal — simple, but actually enjoyable. On the positive side, our server Kristen (or Kirsten) was excellent. She was friendly, attentive, and clearly did her best to make the evening pleasant. Service was not the issue here. The atmosphere seemed like it had potential with the historic building, but the dining room was noticeably smokey/hazy, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the meal. Overall, this visit fell short. For the price point and the reputation, I expected much better. Good service can’t make up for bland food and a less-than-comfortable dining environment.

First time here and this place was Amazing! The atmosphere is neat, our waitress Sidney was sweet, courteous, and attentive. Best of all was the food. We ordered prime rib and crab legs, man was it delicious. We lucked out due to arriving a bit later and our food portions were huge, the biggest piece of Prime Rib we've ever had. Needles to say, we had a lot of leftover meat, which fed us the following night. Money well spent and totally worth it.

Long day, and we arrived late and near closing. They were kind enough to accept us in but we nearly left when no one came to our table for the first five minutes. My wife had a great piece of salmon with a buttery dipping sauce and I ordered a small sirloin steak with steamed veggies. There was absolutely no seasoning on my food..at all. It came out hot but that’s all I appreciated about it. Pretty expensive for what I received. I very much liked the atmosphere. I enjoy history and it was neat being in the old train station.
Matthew C — Google review
We were seated, not busy. But took forever for the server to come to us. Kinda dark in there. Could use more lighting . I ordered blackened Salmon. Presentation of food was nice. Salmon alittle over cooked. Lacked seasoning. Kinda dry. Gnats flying around too. First time here from out of town. Not pleased with service. Food not horrible. Food Was nice and hot which was good. Overall a 3 out of 5.

Buzzard Billy's is a casual eatery in La Crosse, known for its Cajun-Creole fare and 1950s-style cocktail lounge upstairs. It caters to tourists, business travelers, and convention-goers. The restaurant offers authentic New Orleans cuisine with popular dishes like the Cajun Combo, jambalaya, blackened catfish, armadillo eggs, gator fingers, and fried crawfish tails. Patrons have raved about the food and atmosphere.
Buzzard Billy’s was a great experience! Having never been to Lacrosse before, it was nice to go to a restaurant that the ‘locals’ recommended rather than a chain. The gumbo, poutine, and fried walleye were all amazing. Unfortunately the kitchen service was very slow, for us as well as all the tables around us, but the server was very friendly and the food was excellent. We will definitely be back!

We stopped in for an early dinner, 5:00 pm last Saturday. We were told the wait would be about 20-30 minutes... it ended up being about 15. We ordered Gator Fingers as an appetizer, they were great. We ordered the Alligator Gran Chenier, Seafood Jumbalaya, and two Chicken Gumbos. The buttered garlic bread was great. All of the food was great and genuinely spicy (a good thing). The lady who waited on our table was very friendly and service minded.

Server was a train wreck! Manager was worse!!! A single portion of salad or pasta is big enough for a family of four, making this the number one restaurant of waist in all of my reviews.... The way they handed my concerns regarding the food waist was almost as bad as the amount of food I saw being thrown away. Shame on the owners ! The photos are what's left after we were completely stuffed from eating. The food is great, just split whatever you're having and plan on leftovers.

Great food, excellent atmosphere. Our server Chelsea made some great suggestions on local beers. Try the armadillo eggs as a starter and follow up with a salad and burger. Don’t miss the side of onion rings. We will definitely be back.

We were told that we had to try Buzzard Billy's Armadillo Eggs in La Crosse, so we found the restaurant during our Wisconsin Road Trip and ordered some up. Not my usual style of food, but I liked them! The outside of the "egg" (a little smaller than a baseball) was covered in crisp, slightly spicy bacon and there were jalapeño slices inside the chicken center as well, but overall, the armadillo eggs were pleasantly spicy and not too hot. After a couple of those, however, a house salad and a Spotted Cow were absolutely all I needed as a meal! I really like their homemade ranch dressing -- great on the "eggs" as well as on the salad. We had a fun night, and Chelsie was friendly and helpful.

Fayze's Restaurant and Bakery is a popular casual eatery and bar located in downtown. It offers a wide variety of American dishes, cocktails, and freshly baked goods including their signature Lebanese bread. The restaurant is known for its delectable pastries and bread that are sure to satisfy any sweet cravings. Customers often have to wait for a table, but the delicious food makes it worth the wait.
Tried this local hot spot after the LaCrosse Half Marathon and ended up waiting about 45 minutes for a table, which, considering the large size of our party, was not bad. We were able to sit and wait in the bar area and have a cocktail where I ordered a "spicy" Bloody Mary, which was delicious but not spicy at all. They seated us upstairs, and there was plenty of room for all of us. My husband had the Traditional Breakfast with crispy bacon and said everything was served perfectly. I had the Cinnamon Swirl French Toast with a side of bacon, and that was absolutely amazing! The pieces were thick yet light, airy, and perfectly sized. Our waitress, who definitely had her work cut out for her, did a great job. She was attentive, quick and very pleasant. It's understandable why this place is a LaCrosse must.

If you’re coming this week, just be prepared to wait. I also encourage you to be patient and kind as they are short staffed and swamped. We waited about 45 minutes to get seated and about 30 minutes for food. When all was said and done, our server was friendly, they kept our coffee full, the portions were pretty big and overall the food was tasty. I’m glad we got to stop for this La Crosse staple before they close on October 8. And yeah, the buns are really good.

The service was above great. We were never overlooked or passed by without a quick check in. Server's were always smiling and pleasant. Food was delicious. 7yr old daughter told waiter it was definitely worth the wait. Lol, not long really. Definitely would recommend. And definitely enjoy the Talame bread, which is world famous and made here!

They serve a great breakfast! Very busy place on the weekend, but not a terribly long wait for two people (about 45 mins). The Eggs Benedict was delicious. The English Muffin was well toasted but the eggs could have been runnier. I also tried their cheese curds which were good. The service was very good. From the host running the show to the young folks in charge of seating you to the waiters taking care of you, all of that experience was really pleasant. It was a busy Saturday, but none of the staff seamed stressed out. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our experience.

Just thoroughly enjoyed our brunch here. Everything was so good from staff to food to bakery item. Their talame bun is just incredible and so unique. Love the ambience too and they have some vegetarian options. A must place to stop by if you are in Lacrosse.

Stopped in on a Sunday morning, the wait was 45-60 min. We put our name down on a list and wandered around town, came back and our table was ready. We had eggs Benedict, corned beef hash & had to try the WI cheese curds. The eggs Benedict was flavorful, had good texture. The eggs weren’t as runny as my BF would’ve liked, but it was definitely tasty. He did comment on how great the English muffin was, and it was crispy! I had the corned beef hash, it was good, a little dry but tasted great. I decided on a Talame bun, didn’t know what to expect but it was good. Why not try something new in a city you’ve never been. Lastly, the cheese curds were pretty good too. They had great flavor, and ranch as dipping sauce. Since we’ve been here in LaCrosse we’ve had cheese curds at another restaurant which we weren’t a big fan of. The service at the restaurant was good, from the check to the seating experience. If you’re in LaCrosse, check this place out. Prices are affordable too!

We enjoyed a few meals here in the past few years. We had a few fish fry dinners on Friday nights. The food was always good, but you could tell they were short staffed in the evenings. We had breakfast this September and got delicious french toast and omelet with pretty fast service. We always enjoyed their bakery items. Sad to see them close.

This was a pleasant surprise. We are not from the area, but we're passing through and decided to stay the night. Saw this place online that was close to our hotel and decided to give it a try. Great people. A cozy place to eat. Great food. More comfort food than fancy, but they did a great job.

Dublin Square Irish Pub & Eatery is a traditional Irish pub and restaurant located just a few blocks from the Children's Museum of La Crosse. Established in 2010, this award-winning bar offers an atmospheric interior and patio seating for guests to enjoy tasty pub food, great drinks, and live music or sports games on TV. The menu features simple dishes that showcase the best of Irish cuisine using fresh ingredients and classic recipes.
Wednesday night trivia league. We had a wonderful time with great food, atmosphere, and the friendly staff. I had the Rachel sandwich w/fries. YUM! It was Oktoberfest and Thanksgiving had a party. My wife enjoyed the Shepherd's pie and soda bread. It was a fun night at Dublin's Square.

Food was very disappointing. Beef tips were all grisel, and not at all tender. The mashed potatoes were lacking in flavor and just not appetizing. However, their French fries were crispy and okay.

Sat on the covered area outside of the proper bar area. Overhead heating made it comfortable. Make sure you find one of the chairs that can rock. The brandy old fashion drink was good as well as the moscow mule. Good selection of on tap beer. Saturday night made for college football games on the TV.

Definitely my favorite bar! The bartenders were all friendly and fun! They worked well together and had good conversations. I actually left to go check out other places and just ended up missing Dublin Square so I went back and got food. It was SO GOOD! I wish I could go all the time. Highly recommend.

I was impressed. Atmosphere was comforteringand service was great. Cheese Curds were awesome. The Chef Salad I think had the chef in it. ( Huge serving) my son said it was great. My burger was prepared to order. GREAT JOB. We were home for Christmas from Arlington Texas so this was great choice. 4.5 Stars

The absolute best Fish and Chips I've ever had! My friends and I ate here 2 days in a row on our trip to La Crosse. We will be going back next visit. You really should give this Pub a try.

Cool place to just hang and people watch. The out side covered patio was a great place to relax after walking all over downtown. The the spring and fall would still be comfortable as they have heaters as well. Food and service was good. I wish they were a bit more dog friendly though as many people had dogs there that had to be left on the outside of the gate. Strange being that most of the hotels in the area allow dogs in the hotel.

The restaurant offers hickory-smoked meats and features a blues lounge with scenic river views. The building is adorned with historic images and relics, including chandeliers from the Stoddard Hotel, which once hosted famous guests like Elvis Presley and John F. Kennedy.
I loved everything about this place. Very cozy, great subtle music and ambience was exactly what I was needing. Beer, wine and cocktail selection is top notch. I enjoyed the brisket, really enjoyed the brisket and to finish everything off service second to none. I will make sure and stop in next time I’m in town.

Server Ellie is a rock star! We loved the 80’s menu from the relish tray to dessert and everything in between. Fantastic as always.

With all the Hype about Piggy's, I expected alot more. We were disappointed with the service and menu selection. I expected this place to knock me off my seat, but really shocked on the lack of BBQ on menu. How do you go to a restaurant known for BBQ, but they don't even have ribs on the menu? No signature item. I asked what was good on the menu, and the server stated she hasn't even eaten there. What? And no, she was not a vegetarian.
Andrew — Google review
Great service and good food. One of the chops was slightly over, but the sauce made up for it. I have never had a bad meal here.
Robert L — Google review
We enjoy Piggies. We haven’t eaten at there in many years and it was as delicious as we remember. My husband and I both had the lunch special. Chicken Filet Sandwich. They also have an excellent soup and salad bar. But, both of us wanted a sandwich.
Mary H — Google review
The food ingredients were of good quality, but the spicing was off; too much salt and too much garlic. The food was presented well, with nice color on the meats and perfectly cooked vegetables. This was my first time there, but others who had been, said this was not typical. The service was indifferent as we were frequently without drinks and were frequently left without any service for extended times. When they were present, they were efficient and courteous. The decor is charming, maintaining the feel of the old foundry in which it was built. The old carved wood bar must have come from the old world and was a solid anchor for the rest of the furnishings. It may have been a night where the head chef was sick and the staff was slammed.
Glenn G — Google review
We came in at 8:00 p.m. on a Saturday during Oktoberfest. They closed at 9:00, so wasn’t too busy. Our waitress was working the whole floor with a big party in a private room, but we never felt neglected. Drinks stayed full and our food came out timely. The food had shining moments, but had some misses too. The cheese curds while tasty and with a good dipping marinara, were pretty greasy. The bacon wrapped chicken had good breading and chipotle ranch, but the bacon was chewy since it didn’t really have time to cook up more or a way to crisp up within the breading. The burnt ends were really tender and tasty, but the cheesy potatoes could have used a little more seasoning. Overall, the space is really nice and we enjoyed our meal. I would try other items on a more normal time of day like lunch or earlier dinner.
Christina M — Google review
Wasn't too busy, but this place was definitely short staff. We waited to be seated for a while, tried to flag someone down, got ignored, and decided to seat ourselves. A table down from us walked out they stated they waited 20 minutes for wine and were done waiting. The waitress came with the wine they had already left. We told her we would stay if she came and waited on us or we could leave if she didn't have time. This waitress came brought us water, we ordered wine, came in a few minutes, ordered pasta and steak with a salad, everything came out fast. Steak was tender and cooked perfectly. House salad had very fresh greens. Dressing was great. I'm very impressed how the diner went. The waitress saved the night. Of course, I have to give credit to the chef, too.

Tapas bar
4 Sisters Wine Bar & Tapas Restaurant is a casual eatery during lunchtime, but transforms into a chic and urbane location in the evening with scenic views of the Mississippi River from its lounge. The menu offers an eclectic selection of tapas, seafood, and steak entrees. It's a great spot for gathering with friends or enjoying after-work happy hour due to its unique tapas menu perfect for sharing.
Quite honestly, I could go on and on about 4 Sisters Wine Bar & Tapas. I was so impressed with this restaurant. My mom said that last time they were in lacrosse that day had a meal here and really liked it. Boy was that an understatement. They have a beautiful patio space overlooking the riverfront park and the river itself. Inside the restaurant is cozy, but not crammed, all of the staff was very friendly, and I was absolutely floored by the quantity and quality of food you get for the prices on the menu. To give you an idea of the prices, we ordered these two “starters“ and after a 20% tip, it was still under $40. We had such a hard time deciding what to get. My mom remembered having the nachos and raved about them so we had to go with that and we opted for adding shrimp. Then, almost anytime I see ahi tuna on the menu I have to get it. The tuna was light and refreshing, but the star of the show were these nachos with fresh chips, layered toppings, so that it wasn’t all just on top, the bang bang sauce on them was spicy, but not overpowering, and there was plenty of shrimp throughout. They are happy hour specials had good drink prices and their bourbon list was possibly the most impressive one I have seen in a restaurant date. If you’re staying in the cross, passing through, or just need an excuse to explore a beautiful city, I’m sold. After eating there we drove down through the riverfront park and the city’s tribute to their sister cities was BEAUTIFUL. I’m definitely going to make time to go through there again.

This was a great find for 4 out of state visitors! We loved that the tables facing the river front. Tapas were decadent (blackened shrimp & fig/brie dip), drinks were good, and entrées were delicious. I wish the signage was more obvious as Google Maps wasn't much help once we arrived in the parking lot.
Punkin0425 — Google review
Excellent dining experience… we had the shrimp bacon wrap and baked Brie for appetizers. My spinach lasagna was overdone - dry and they offered to replace but I asked just for more creamy sauce which livened it up. The waitress was very attentive for out side dining in the clear “igloo” setting. My second time of dining outside in cold weather. The minimum costs of being able to dine outside is $125 dollars ~ worth it if wanting to experience course dining and taking time to enjoy an amazing time spent with friends. Highly recommend!

Stopped by here this afternoon with a buddy and my father and had a lovely time. Be careful ordering too many tapas as they aren't normal size tapas, but more of meal size tapas. We started out ordering the; Mini Blu Burgers, Fish Tacos and Empenadas to kick off the meal and each one was full of flavor, but if i had to pick, the empenadas stole the show. For our main dishes we ordered; The blackend shrimp alfredo, Buffalo Trace beef tips and the tenderloin salad. Each plate was delicious in their own way and definitely will be back!

A relaxing place next to Riverside Park. Indoor dining is comfortable. Outdoor dining can be a challenge during summer evenings because of the sun. There are good menus for food and drink. I like having the tapas because you can get everything you want without overdoing it (we got the empanadas to go for breakfast). And the selection of tapas are very good and satisfying. There is an entree menu as well. It was our first time at their restaurant but not our first time in La Crosse. We will be returning to 4 Sisters!

This was walking distance from my hotel so I thought I would give it a try. Very glad I did. They have bar seating, indoor seating, outdoor seating and these cool little plastic bubbles in the winter. I did not check out the bubble seating, but it looked fun. Caesar salad with mahi-mahi was great. Service was great. Price was very fair. Absolutely no complaints. I will return.
Steve N — Google review
We enjoy the atmosphere and drinks at 4 Sisters. The food isn't bad, but is slightly elevated standard Sysco type foods. We are back every winter for the domes and definitely don't plan on stopping because the vibe is exceptional. We just dial back our expectations on food and focus on the drinks/overall experience more. The sweet chili cream cheese dip is fantastic as are the bottomless mimosas.
L J — Google review
We ordered •Call Me Honey drink •avocado blackened shrimps •sweet and spicy bacon wrapped chicken (definitely my favorite and the most filling) •creamy bacon gouda dip •fish tacos It is one of the best shareable restaurants I have tried. Everything we ordered was 5 star quality. I was so full but it was delicious and I wanted to keep eating!

Nestled in the vibrant downtown of La Crosse, The Crow is a must-visit gastropub that effortlessly combines a contemporary vibe with rustic charm. This spacious hangout serves up hearty pub fare, featuring an impressive selection of gourmet burgers and daily mac and cheese specials. With a diverse array of craft beers and bourbons on offer, it’s the perfect spot for both casual lunches and lively dinners.
Stopped in last night after getting in to town. the burger was delicious. Figured while in Wisconsin we need to try the cheese curds. Their take is different in that they are cubed and beer batter. The jalapeno isn’t very spicy but went extremely well with the marinara. Service was quick and friendly. Definitely recommend.

We ate here for lunch. The restaurant was not busy but we were seated in a section that was full. This was probably good for the waiter (for tips). As you would imagine it was a slow start. Instead of service the waiter dropped off to tell us it would me a minute. After several minutes that got super old. We even talked about leaving. After sticking it out things improved. The waiter was a great guy - maybe just trying to tie up loose ends at other tables before starting our journey. Pretty much the whole section left by the time we got our food. I got a sweet crow salad and white chicken chili. NOTE: the WHITE chicken chili was NOT WHITE. Someone clearly forgot to add the heavy whipping cream to finish it off. Beside the color issue, the flavor was great. That is 2 thumbs up (plus 1 big toe). My wife had a mac and cheese sandwich and side salad. Another complaint, while waiting for our server, who was clearly overrun when we were seated, two other servers stood near the hostess table ( with the hostess) doing nothing. This indicates a lack of care about customers, piss poor management and an all around crappy business strategy. If people don't have work - find some, or stand around or of site. I would recommend this place, but be prepared for a delay or two. It sounds like the place can get pretty busy and have long wait times.
Pete W — Google review
I had the pleasure of dining at The Crow, and I have to say that it was an incredible experience from start to finish. I decided to go with the Glazed Donut Burger, and to make it even more indulgent, I added an extra patty to turn it into a double. At first bite, I’ll admit the sweetness of the donut glaze paired with the savory burger felt unusual; but within moments, it all clicked. The combination turned out to be absolutely phenomenal. It’s the kind of unique, bold flavor that makes you step outside your comfort zone, and it’s without a doubt a must-try for anyone dining here. For my side, I chose the fries, and I was pleasantly surprised to find an assortment rather than a single style. My basket included curly fries, crinkle fries, steak fries, and waffle fries. Each was cooked to perfection and added a fun twist to the meal as you never knew which type of fry you’d grab next, and they were all delicious. The service was top notch as well. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and confident. She didn’t even write our order down, yet delivered it perfectly. That level of attention to detail and professionalism really stood out and made the experience even better. Lastly, the atmosphere at The Crow deserves a mention. The vibe was relaxed yet vibrant, making it the perfect vibe to enjoy a memorable meal. Whether you’re there for a casual night out or to try something adventurous, it’s a spot that makes you want to come back again. Overall, The Crow exceeded expectations on every level; food, service, and atmosphere. The Glazed Donut Burger is truly something special, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a unique, flavorful, and fun dining experience in La Crosse.

Stopped here when staying nearby on business and it was packed with college students on Bingo night. Great vibe and lots of energy. It was a cool night and the wings and white bean chili were delicious. Great cocktails too.

Downeast Cider Pumpkin cider and Surly Furious cider and beer were delicious. We started with the breaded and deep fried cauliflower chunks that were called cauliflower wings. They were tasty!Interesting sauces -- dilly Ranch, Crow sauce (which is a creamy Buffalo mixed with Parmesan Garlic, really good!), and Sweet Chili. Their signature fries are a mix of shoestring waffle, curly, and regular. We were not too hungry, but we had to eat something. We decided on the turkey guacamole sandwich (we split it) and it was unremarkable. The lettuce was wet. The lunch meat was wet, the tomatoes were wet, everything contributed to it being completely soggy and mealy. Oh well. The "Mac of the Day" was 3 cheese, with Wisconsin cheddar, Parmesan, and Gruyere. That was much better! We told the waitress about the terrible sandwich and she said "oh I wouldn't have liked that either, you want your bill?" After paying, we shared our experience with the manager. The Crow has a great vibe, if we're ever back in LA Crosse, we'll come back again!

Digger's Sting Restaurant is an elegant old-fashioned steakhouse located just a few blocks from Riverside Park in La Crosse, Wisconsin. With a history spanning over 50 years, this establishment offers an intimate setting and serves prime rib, seafood, and classic cocktails. Visitors have praised the quality of food and service, with particular highlights being the prime rib, clam chowder, and garlic toast. The attentive staff and delicious drinks such as Digger's Margarita have left patrons impressed.
We went to dinner for my birthday. Full disclosure, we both forgot to make a reservation. So we showed up to see if there were any openings. We snagged a reservation for later in the evening and then walked around and visited local establishments in the meantime. Once we got back, we were seated and then greeted by our server. We ordered drinks and started with the Snow Crab and Artichoke Dip for an appetizer. For the record, it was unbelievably delicious. We then both ordered a steak with a seafood addition. The scallops and Cajun shrimp were both fantastic. The steaks were both perfectly cooked and amazing cuts. We ended with the ever famous grasshopper. But since we were full, we split it. I would 100% come back and try more of the menu. The atmosphere is the true supper club vibe.

I had dinner at Digger’s Sting with my three aunts while visiting La Crosse for work. This was my first time here, and I was impressed from the start. The atmosphere has a historic charm, with a beautiful bar and well-set tables. Service was great—our server was down-to-earth, shared the specials, and made us feel well taken care of. We all ended up ordering the specials, and the food didn’t disappoint. The salmon, topped with garlic dill, was packed with flavor—maybe a bit strong for some, but I enjoyed it. Overall, a great experience! I’ll definitely be bringing my wife next time we’re in town. Highly recommend checking this place out!

We stopped at Digger’s based on a recommendation from our Air BNB host on the way from Indiana to South Dakota and absolutely loved it! They had excellent service and fantastic food. The prime rib was especially tasty, and we also really enjoyed the cheese curds and snow crab and artichoke dip. The Cajun shrimp were also tasty, and so was their soup. If I lived closer, I would frequent this spot. For what we got, the menu was reasonably priced. Our service was also great, especially considering how full the restaurant was. Don’t be deceived by the older exterior and missing lights on the sign - the inside of this restaurant is very charming and the food is wonderful.

We loved the cheese curds, Caesar salad, battered shrimp, and prime rib. Super disappointed in the steak fries as they were chewy….not good. Mashed potatoes were okay. Definitely would have liked better tasting sides! Love the atmosphere.

Cody provided great service. He knew when to come check on us and served food and drink in a reasonable time. The prime rib was tender and juicy including the pellicle and was seasoned just right so we could enjoy the steak with or without au jus or horse radish. Making reservations on line was easy, thank you. The Maple/brown sugar and blackberry old fashioned was a great way to end a great meal. Atmosphere is perfect for a dinner club: quiet, prime rib, old fashioned, good craft beer. The only thing missing was the ice cubes in the urinal.

I was given a choice of where to celebrate my birthday. I chose Diggers. Four guests were from out of town/state and it was there first visit. We were seated immediately. Our server Maddie was amazing! Kudos to her for her professionalism and friendliness. Orders were of steak, prime rib and salmon. Everyone raved about the food. Generous portion sizes so got to enjoy our meals again. I love the atmosphere. No bright lights, unique decor, just different from any place. Never felt rush and even brought me an ice cream treat for my birthday. It was a perfect night spent with loved ones.

The restaurant is quite unassuming from the outside, but the inside looks very nice. For the appetizer we had a special crab cake made with shrimp which was great. My wife had the shrimp and scallops pasta dish which was also delicious. Lastly, I had the BBQ ribs which were done perfectly. They were falling off the bone and had the right amount of sauce with them. As a part of the ribs there were sides of sweet potato fries and apple kimchi. Overall the food was excellent. Our server, Barry, was also super friendly and did an excellent job. We will be back.

Hidden amongst neighborhoods is this beautiful place with amazing food! My server Erin was very polite, friendly and professional. She had great knowledge of the menu and explained the specials well. For a starter I picked soup in which they had beer cheese on special and it was very good! They also bring out this amazing bread and some kind of homemade apple butter that made me ask for more! My main dish was the seafood ravioli: Pan seared sea scallops, baby shrimp and the ravioli is stuffed with Maryland blue crab and ricotta finished with some asparagus and a wonderful lobster sherry sauce! Rudy's Drive In Restaurant is a classic 1930s-style eatery that offers a taste of Wisconsin's best dishes. Established in 1933, it has become a popular dining spot for both locals and visitors. The restaurant features carhops on roller skates delivering delicious burgers, hot dogs, root beer, and ice cream treats. It's known for its friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.
Visiting from out of town. Searched for a place with gluten free options. Burgers were awesome. Loved the jalapeno cheese curds as well. Very fast service and they were busy.

CASH ONLY - food was solid but not spectacular, could have used more seasoning. Portions were between small to average but at least the prices were reasonable. Onion rings were very good and the ice cream was the best part! Food rating averages out to around 3.5-4 stars out of 5. The service was quick and friendly. Our order was ready in less than 5 minutes and everything is brought out via roller-skates. 5 star service. We sat at a table outside and brought our dog with.

I've been meaning to come here and try the food for some time, glad I finally did. I had the super burger and cheese curds. The cheese curds were some of the best I've had. The burger was very good and everything was very reasonably priced. The service was very quick, with tons of staff rolling around on skates. Worth a stop if you're in the area.
Troy G — Google review
Food was average. It is a fair price but nothing to brag about. There needs to be a sign that says cash only. I checked before ordering and I couldn't see any kind of sign that said cash or check only. I was only told about this after I ordered food. Lucking I had cash on me. Overall vibe was cute and retro. Waitresses skated around which was cool.

Rudy’s Drive-In is a La Crosse classic that delivers more than just burgers—it serves up nostalgia, community, and comfort with every tray. From the moment you pull into the lot, you’re part of something timeless. The carhop service, complete with roller-skating staff, brings a joyful energy that’s hard to find anywhere else. It’s not just a gimmick—it’s a tradition that’s been kept alive with heart. The menu hits all the right notes: crispy chicken tenders, juicy Super Burgers, and cheese curds that are perfectly golden. The root beer float is a must—cold, creamy, and served with a smile. Prices are fair, portions are generous, and the food consistently hits the spot. Whether you're grabbing lunch with friends or treating the family to a laid-back dinner, Rudy’s makes it easy to relax and enjoy. What really makes Rudy’s special is the atmosphere. It’s a place where locals gather, where memories are made, and where the past and present blend effortlessly. On a warm evening, with music playing and the smell of fries in the air, Rudy’s feels like summer in La Crosse. It’s not just a drive-in—it’s a reminder that simple pleasures still matter. And Rudy’s delivers them with style. Live your best life!

This was a disappointment to sat the least. We travel all over the country and like the idea of drive in. We know what to expect at a drive in. The management here needs to take a break and review the manner in which the food is served, and the customers are addressed. Eliminate the word NO from the service staff. NO additional tray. Only one tray per vehicle. Where are the rest of the vehicle passengers supposed to hold their drink, their burger, their fires, their onion rings? Provide an additional tray so we do not have to hold everything or depend on the driver to hand everything back and forth to the rest of the passengers and then take it back to place it on the ONLY tray we were allowed to have. After all, the place was anything but full. I am sure there was another tray inside that would have solved the issue. But, NO apparently was the word of the day. NO credit cards. Make it easily noticeable for those of us not carrying cash, which is the vast majority of todays population. Charge me the unfair percentage if you must but eliminate the cash transaction, and make it clear as we drive up. We would have paid for refills and would have purchased 2 desserts. NO free refills. This has become the norm and the exceptions to the rule stick out like a sore thumb. Yes, there is a cost associated with this but we are already charged an exuberant for the small portion of the burger, fries and onions, and the drinks arrive in very think glassware that may look like a good quantity but it is not. We ended up having to leave the car and get cash fm an ATM. NO credit cards. Once the food was delivered, we ended up leaving our car and eating at a table. NO extra tray. We left disappointed with the experience.

Rosie's is the most coziest friendliest yummiest place! My daughter and I went there for breakfast and oh my gosh it was amazing! The hostess that sat us was super nice and fun and our waitress was the best! Are food was incredibly awesome and delicious and the portions were unbelievable! The rye bread for breakfast was so yummy! And the pancakes were as big as my daughter's head! The coffee was fresh we had an awesome meal and it was just an amazing small friendly cozy place!

5 Stars for Rosie’s Café – A Hidden Gem Worth the Detour! While driving home from Rochester, Minnesota to West Michigan, we were on the hunt for a great local breakfast spot — something with character, not just another national chain. That’s when we found Rosie’s Café, and let me tell you, it was worth every mile of the detour. Located just outside of town in a quiet neighborhood, Rosie’s is small, charming, and absolutely packed — a sure sign that locals know what’s up. We actually missed our exit and had to backtrack through town about five miles, but it gave us a chance to see the area and build anticipation. When we arrived, the place was buzzing. It's not a huge space, so there isn’t much room to wait inside, and the communication on whether to seat ourselves or wait could have been clearer. That said, the staff was friendly and handled the crowd like pros. We were seated within 10–15 minutes, which flew by. Once seated, we were greeted quickly and warmly. The menu had tons of great options — everything from classic breakfasts to local favorites. We had a few questions and custom requests, and our server was super accommodating. Despite how busy it was, the service was attentive and upbeat. The food? Hot, hearty, and absolutely delicious. Generous portions, great presentation, and flavors that made it clear everything was made with care. We left full and happy, no question about that. One highlight? Their homemade cinnamon rolls with house-made icing — you can take a half dozen to go for under $17. Of course, I grabbed six… and asked for one extra with icing on top for the road. No regrets. Rosie’s Café is a small-town treasure with big flavor and genuine hospitality. If you’re ever passing through this stretch of Wisconsin, make the stop — it’s worth it. Thanks, Rosie’s! We’ll definitely be back.
Brian T — Google review
The food at The Café was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every dish we tried was excellent, and I would definitely come back again for the food alone. The service, however, felt a little rigid. Our waitress was polite and professional, but she stuck strictly to the basics and wasn’t very engaging. I felt like she could have been more attentive and helpful in guiding us through the menu or checking in. Overall, a great place to eat, but the service could be warmer to match the quality of the food.

Worst experience this past weekend. We have been customers of this place for over 20 years and have never had an experience like this weekend. We ordered 2 cheese omelets, one with ham and one with bacon, and an additional side of hollandaise. This was a pick up order to go and at pickup, the employee told my partner that one omelet was missing the bacon and asked if he was fine to take just a cheese omelet....he said that would be fine. When we got home, neither omelet had meat in it and when I called to see about a fix for this, the employee was rude and extremely argumentative with me? ("well, I told that guy that we would make a new one and he said no, so what do you want me to do about it?"). Our bill was $36 and no one could explain to me how our bill was this much. One staff even did the math...$11 per cheese omelet, $4 something for hollandaise and $0.75 for the to-go boxes (that's only $27.50, so how did my bill add up to $36??). I assume we were charged for the additional meat that we did not get, and staff was obviously aware of this! The price that we were charges for an incorrect meal is insane! When I reached out via FB, the manager/owner/FB page manager let me know that I would need to provide proof that our meals were missing the meat in order to fix the issue 😂. We will never return to this restaurant. What a sham and a shame.

Asian restaurant
Hmong's Golden Egg Rolls is an informal cafe that specializes in Asian cuisine, particularly pho and egg rolls. They also offer Thai curries, stir-fries, and fried seafood. Customers have praised the restaurant for its speedy service, delicious food, and timely delivery. The house special pho is described as light and flavorful, with the option to customize it with condiments on the side and vegetables. The eggrolls are also highly recommended, especially when paired with the tasty pink sauce.
I think it’s safe to say this is one of, if not the best restaurant in la crosse. Fresh ingredients expertly prepared (and for takeout, packaged securely) make this restaurant your best option in La crosse. The egg rolls, spring rolls, entrees, and pho are all great choices. I come here all the time!
Dylan — Google review
really great food in a casual environment. I had the papaya salad and spring rolls. Papaya salad was delicious and authentic, but could gain some spice from fresh Thai chilis instead of dried chilis.
Dana N — Google review
My sister took me to her favorite Hmong place and I was not disappointed! We got spring rolls and egg rolls, both with pork. They tasted great, I loved. the dipping sauces, but the pork was just very very thin strips, can't say I really noticed it, but both were tasty. The egg rolls were different than I've ever had in that they were long and thin - think I prefer them this way. They came out crispy and very hot to the table. We shared the fried chicken leg, which was the drumstick and the thigh, with sticky rice. I loved how they cut it into four pieces and how crispy the skin was. For dessert I had their special drink/dessert the Nab Vam. It is a "tapioca dessert drink filled with colorful jellies, crunchy water chestnuts, chewy pearls, lightly sweet with creamy coconut". It was not only beautiful, but delicious. Service was quick, and it's a bright, airy place, and I definitely would go back again.

We had no idea what to expect with this spontaneous dinner find. Walking in, the atmosphere was bright, clean, and modern. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The menu had a bunch of amazing options. Our food came out far more quickly than anticipated. We had the chicken stir fry, papaya salad, and two egg rolls. They were all incredibly good. We will definitely be back.

Was seated within minutes, food came out at appropriate pace for a Saturday evening. Delish and hot. Could use a little more spices in the dishes. Great service and staff. Hands down one of the best egg rolls I’ve had in Wisconsin.

Vietnamese cuisine has my heart. Great place & it sure does smell appetizing. I was craving Pho & egg rolls for a very long time since moving to La Crosse a month back and this place did total justice to my cravings. Warm & welcoming staff plus you get your food served pretty fast here so if you are super famished this should be your go to place. Absolutely delish food .

Awesome Asian food. The curry was as good as Thailand’s and the fried rice was a perfect balance of sweet and umami. The egg rolls were equally delicious, though we did not care for the sauce included. Almost had a watermelon flavor to it. 5 star - Need to go! Would go out of way to come.

The overall experience at Restore Public House is impressive. While it was not crowded during my visit, it easily ranks among the top three restaurants in lacrosse. The service is quick and friendly, and the dishes I tried, such as the beets and striploin, were excellent. The chef's personal touch of checking in on customers adds to its appeal. I am looking forward to returning soon to try their spaghetti and Brussel sprouts.
Terrific rustic American restaurant with fresh, farm-to-table ingredients. Recommended for a nice night out with reasonable prices.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Charming Dining Experience This restaurant offers such a warm and charming welcome — I felt right at home from the moment I walked in. Emma was my waitress, her service was attentive and friendly, and every detail, from start to finish, was excellent. I ordered the Shrimp Pasta, and while I didn’t snap a photo, I can confidently say it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this spot for a relaxing, high-quality meal out!

Excellent brandy old fashioned sweet. Burger was also top 50 material(I eat hundreds a year), had one note of a taste I don’t like, but that’s just preference, the ingredients and quality were all there. Rest of our food was top notch as well.
Jason — Google review
I recently dined here and left with mixed feelings. On the positive side, I really enjoyed the atmosphere, especially the outdoor seating. The sauces were excellent, and the fingerling potatoes were some of the best I’ve ever had. That said, I felt the food and service could use a little refinement. We ordered the sirloin and the New York strip, while ordering the server asked “is medium rare okay for those” it made me feel pressured, I’ve never had a server ask about steak temperature that way so it threw me off, however I let her know I would like mine medium and my partner confirmed medium rare for his. When they arrived they were both pretty overcooked, especially the sirloin being cooked medium well-well (little to no pink). The flavors were there, but proper execution on the steaks would have made a big difference. I was also surprised by the portion size for the NY strip at $49 a plate. While we don’t mind paying for high-quality food, the serving felt a bit small for the price, and we left less satisfied than I’d hoped. As for service, it wasn’t poor, but it didn’t feel sincere. Our server checked in briefly, but there wasn’t much opportunity to address our needs or mention the steak temperatures. Small details like ensuring water glasses don’t go empty would go a long way. I share this feedback in the spirit of encouragement. I truly see a lot of potential here. the atmosphere is nice, and there are aspects of the food that were good , With a few adjustments in attentiveness, I think this restaurant could easily live up to what it’s going for.
OWA — Google review
I'm from out of town. This is the second time I've dined at Restore Public House. The scallops were excellent, as was the flourless chocolate cake. What set this visit apart from most restaurants was our server. I didn't get her name, but she was exemplary. She rattled off the specials and drinks in a way that almost induced me--a light drinker--to partake. She was very attentive and made sure our water glasses were filled. Mostly, her enthusiasm and friendliness made the dining experience memorable. She mentioned studying pre-school education; I can believe she will be a wonderful teacher. She is a wonderful server.

A Hidden Gem We’re So Glad We Found We ended up at Restore Public House after discovering our usual favorite, The Waterfront, was closed on Sunday — and honestly, I’m so glad it was! This place turned out to be an absolute gem. Everything we ordered was incredible — the steak with Béarnaise sauce was cooked perfectly, paired with delicious potatoes and tender asparagus. The desserts were just as amazing and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with a warm rustic charm that reminded me of the Driftless vibe back home in Viroqua — only elevated. It’s not a big space, but that just adds to its intimate, authentic feel. We left talking about how glad we were to have found this spot. Truly a hidden treasure in La Crosse that deserves way more attention.

We went to Restore Public House for date night and we were delighted with the experience. The building is smaller, but cozy and had great energy. Our server (so sorry I don’t remember their name, Saturday the 18th) was knowledgeable and super helpful, even giving us a few recommendations for a post dinner hang out. We started with the house old fashioned and the tequila cranberry drink, both were great with balanced flavor profiles and not sweet. We then had the Shaved Brussels appetizer, which we dug into before I snapped a picture. My husband even enjoyed it even though he’s not a Brussel sprout fan. I had the Seared Scallops and my husband had the Alaskan Halibut. Presentation was beautiful and flavors were on point. We would both get these dishes again. Dessert was the s’mores cheesecake (which we also dove into before a photo) and oooohhhh man. You should definitely get it. Great overall experience and we’ll definitely visit again!

We had a wonderful date night at Restore Public House! The food was the highlight of the experience and is easily one of the best, if not the best, dinner we have had in LaX. We started with the masala potato dish and it was so flavorful. I got the sirloin and it was cooked perfectly - one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. My husband got the spaghetti and it was outstanding. Our cocktails were delicious! The service and ambiance were spectacular. 10/10 recommend. *the steak was 1/2 eaten at the time I took the picture

Blue Moon Restaurant is an eatery in Onalaska, Wisconsin that serves classic American cuisine, as well as beer and cocktails, in a relaxed and historic setting with a cozy ambiance. The restaurant offers 99-cent kids meals with the purchase of an adult entree. This deal is valid for up to two children per adult and runs from 4 p.m. until closing time.
Always a favorite for breakfast--it's Perkins, only 1,000 times better. They have all your standard breakfast classics like French toast, eggs bene, etc, but most of them have fun and delicious twists. They also have delicious adult bevs like mimosas and different flavors of bloodies. I tried the cinnamon roll this time, and it was SO fluffy and delicious. It's definitely sharing size, though, so definitely split it with a friend. The only thing that's been "meh" has been the service. It's never really been bad, but also never really good. In their defense, I've always been when it's been near capacity, so I can't reasonably expect top-notch service. Either way, definitely go!

Mikaela made our experience even more great than it was. She was very friendly & attentive. This was the first time here. Good variety of selections of food. I chose the East Coast Chicken sandwich with a side of cottage cheese. Very good sandwich. My friend had one of the specials of the day which was a cod sandwich with steak black bean soup. She loved it. Beautiful view across from the restaurant & you can also enjoy outdoor seating. Decor inside is cute too.

Blue Moon exceeded our expectations! Great breakfast at a great price with exemplary service. Despite the massive (and well-deserved) crowd on a beautiful Sunday morning, we were seated and served quickly. The bartender was amazing and made the perfect Bloody Marys. My companion was excited to see that they were served (correctly) with a beer back. Food was outstanding, and surprisingly fast! Beautiful view of Lake Onalaska across the road. Definitely worth a stop, we’ll be back!

Special of the day was prime rib & eggs. Very tasty. Buttery golden hashbrowns. Excellent Bloody Mary! Server was friendly. Place was clean. Busy, which is always a good sign. Had a 15 minute wait, which went fast and was probably closer to 10 minutes.

We always try to find a local restaurant when traveling. The Blue Moon was the best selection! I would describe this location as an upscale local tavern. The waffle fries and onion rings may have been from a supplier, but they were really good! Tasted freshly made. Making a stop at The Blue Moon was well worth the time!

What a great place. Bartender great as 8 of us took a seat. Waitress was fun and happy, giving us a few zingers to make us laugh. Food was awesome, so good we tipped the cooks as well. This place has the Hog House Stamp of Approval! We will be back!
Robert S — Google review
Nice restaurant, I’ve been here before but never ordered food. I got the Nashville hot chicken and it was ok just tasted like cumin and buffalo sauce. The amount of fries was like a small McDonald’s fry and the ranch was tangy- which I don’t like. What bothered me was the flies that wouldn’t leave us alone and the fact that the restaurant had no fly swatter. Yuck. Also that the meal was almost $18 so with tip it was $22 for just a sandwich and a small fry. Not worth it at all. I might go again but I’m definitely not running back just based off the ranch. Servers were nice and attentive.

Things have changed. Our first time in since new ownership. And it's fantastic. Excellent service and the menu is filled with nicely chef inspired options. My wife loved the flatbread. With an all-you-can-eat buffet that kicks off daily at 4 PM, you can indulge in an array of inventive pizzas like peanut butter and jelly or mac and cheese. The menu also features unique dessert options such as turtle cheesecake pizza and dirt dessert pizza, ensuring there's something for everyone.
A fun place, lighthearted atmosphere. Quick bite, with your buffet style pizza and salad bar. If you're a medical person, especially after working in surgery, this will make you laugh!i liked the pizzas offered.

We always come out for Exploratory Surgery, which begins at 4pm every day. Exploratory Surgery is their buffet option that includes the crazy pizzas...everything from baked potato to mac and cheese to sauerkraut brat PLUS a variety of dessert pizzas and standard pizzas for those who are a little shy about new things. The servers visit each table with pizzas as they come out of the oven, and customers are often asked for their input on what should come out next! Between new pizzas, customers can visit the pizzas on the buffet bar or visit the salad bar. The staff here are very friendly and upbeat, and they are very helpful!

Food is great at dinner, but do not go here for lunch. I came here for lunch for my son's 7th birthday and we couldn't even request a pizza. Terrible customer service. They even had rotting pineapple served at the salad bar.

Every time I'm in LaCrosse, a trip to Pizza Doctors has to happen for their experimental pizza buffet. Where else can you get a mac & cheese pizza, chili dog pizza, spaghetti & meatball pizza, turkey & dressing pizza or brat & sauerkraut pizza, and dont forget the dessert pizzas. M&M pizza, puppy chow pizza, peach or apple dessert pizzas, dirt dessert pizza, so many more pizzas and dessert pizzas to choose from. And they come around to your table as the pizzas come out and offer you a slice before they set it out on the buffet line. The slices are small enough so you can try all the different variations of pizza they offer. Dont worry, you can still get cheese, pepperoni and sausage pizza if you'd rather not try any other crazy combinations they offer, but I'd say then you'd be missing out!

Going in, my family and I were excited about trying a new place with promise of different pizza flavors and a fun place to eat. It was about $13 per person and was definitely not worth it. The place was super dirty, and when we wanted to talk to a manager the employees didn’t even know who it was. They did clean up when we talked to them about it but accused my dad of lying, also the one boy took the dirty washcloth he used to clean around the salad bar and shook it out directly over the salad sauces. And to top it off they barely had any pizza out for people to try. Disappointed in a place I’ve heard great things about.

Pizza Doctors is a great place for a family outing.. It's fun to do the Exploratory Surgery Buffet. I think the kids love the variety and the fast pace. I love all of the different combinations of pizza's. Some of them are pretty wild, but a lot of fun. It's a little more expensive than I thought it should be, but for a fun family outing it is worth it.

Nestled in a charming locale, The Mint is a delightful eatery that emphasizes locally sourced ingredients and offers an array of small plates and entrees. On my last morning in town, I couldn't resist trying this highly recommended spot for brunch. The cozy atmosphere, managed by the DriftMore restaurant group, sets the stage for inventive dishes like their unique take on Eggs Benedict with wild rice cakes and poached eggs drizzled with bourbon maple hollandaise.
I had a dream about the best breakfast in the world. My dream came true at The Mint. Fresh farm to table food that tastes amazing. Can't wait to go back and try dinner and more.

My first trip to The Mint was absolutely amazing! The food is farm to table, homemade & so good! The prices are great, and the staff is so friendly. We went for lunch time and were recommended to visit for brunch on the weekends, and will definitely be going back! The atmosphere and food just make for an all around wonderful experience!

This place wasn't too bad. Nice outdoor scenery, a bit romantic indoors. Pretty and attentive waitresses. Food selection is a bit selective, so may not be for everyone. My mother and I were about to leave as we didn't quite see an option we were favoring from the small selection. But then our waitress made us aware of the grass fed beef burgers which mind you come with a side of greens and no fries. Which is all good, some healthy with not so healthy. We decided to stay and try the burger option. For 8$, wasn't a huge harm if we didn't like them. Burgers were darn good with the greens side. One of our burgers came more bloody than we like while the other came out perfect. After we requested a new one and mentioned pink is good just no blood, we got a well done burger. I guess the chef didn't want to take his chances this time around.... It wasn't too bad, though. Overall, 4 star for our first time around at this place. Would I recommend it, for the scenery yes, regarding the food, look or call ahead for the menu options. Great staff.

Group of women out for dinner we were sat outside as inside is pretty small and it was a beautiful evening under the patio lights. The chairs were comfy for a nice long meal. The staff was great, knowledgeable about the dishes, they were having fun and made me think it's a good place to work. All the food was a joy. So much good rustic pairings and flavors. Local ingredients and good sweet and savory mix. Small menu but well thought and something for everyone. The downside is NO parking!! I look forward to going back to see the menu change with the seasons.

This place is phenomenal. The food is exquisite, the drinks are delicious, even the after dinner mints are homemade. This might be my new favorite place in La Crosse. My party had the steak, the chicken, and a pork chop. We all thought it was among the best we'd ever had of our respective items. Check it out!

The atmosphere is unpretentious but inviting, making it a great stop for families or anyone seeking a hearty meal. With its large menu and efficient staff, this restaurant has become a popular choice among locals and travelers alike.
Amazing food and service! Came for dinner and had to come back for breakfast before leaving the area. Quick seating for a large party and food came out faster than expected. Could not believe how cheap the meal was considered how big the plates were. May have to move closer so we can become regulars.

Visited on 6.30.2025 and had breakfast before driving to Minnesota and Iowa. After about a 20 minute wait, I finally got served by Amber. The French Toast was excellent. I think a 4 rating is fair considering the restaurant wasn't full and several servers looked at me until Amber took my order.

Enjoyed the Alaskan waffle so much! It was covered in strawberries, strawberry sauce, whipped cream with a nice big scoop of ice cream. Price was excellent for the portion. The server was helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend and return to eat again when I come to visit the area!

This was my 2nd time coming here, and I loved the food so much. Our server even gave my daughter something to color with while we waited for our food. I thought the $7-$8 plates might be too much for my 3 years old, but to my surprise, it was perfect. My husband ordered the butt steak, I think it was called, medium rare, and it was amazing. Their pancakes and waffles were huge, which is definitely a plus! We couldn't finish all of them, but were able to get a to go box for the rest. Will come here again when we have time.

I was surprised this morning when I asked for orange juice and they brought me a glass of fresh squeezed. What a nice surprise! They give you generous portions and don’t price gouge you. Great place!

The food is meh, the prices are too, and the service is TERRIBLE. I’ve been here on 3 separate occasions now and every time I’ve left feeling rather upset. On my first visit it took over an hour after we were seated to have our orders taken. On the second visit we had food that was ordered and paid for but never brought to the table. Today on this visit we decided to order ahead because we knew they would be slammed. Within the ordering service they use we were given an estimated wait time of 10 minutes. With more than that amount of time passing by the time we arrived AND the app clearly stating “order is ready”, we reasonably assumed we’d be able to walk in and grab our order. Instead, we had to stand and wait 20 extra minutes before being handed our food which I might add was done wrong! I was given an entirely different skillet from the one I ordered! I will be spending my money elsewhere from here on out

We were seated right away and had a great waitress! Food came out quickly. But, my tomato juice, hashbrowns, French toast and eggs were very bland. We sat right by the waitresses work area and they were talking/ complaining very loudly about other co-workers. Just wasn’t a great vibe or atmosphere. Won’t be going back.

WOW! What a great little gem of a local restaurant! The staff was friendly from the moment we walked in. We started with French Onion Soup w/ gigantic garlic toast croutons, which was absolutely delicious. Clearly homemade! I had the $22 filet special that also came with an additional side as well as the soup or salad. Every dish our family ordered was fantastic! The desserts were also amazingly delicious. Now let’s talk about the atmosphere and value ! The restaurant is decorated in antique photos and vintage beers cans, which added cozy charm. The whole meal was a great value, less than $100 for four of us ! Finally, our waitress decorated our to-go food container for my son, which made his night ! Do not sleep on this restaurant !

Service was great . Food not so good which I was disappointed as I have been there before. We ordered two Filet mignon both was very bland no flavor. My other son ordered two deep fried catfish which he said had a strange taste and texture. When we got home we looked at his leftover piece it was very slimey and still pretty pink inside definitely not done . Tenderloin tips where good . Paying $170 plus a $50 dollar tip you would expect your food to be better. I Sure hope he don't get sick from the raw fish

Long wait. The hostess and the people clearing tables extremely slow. There were several tables that would of been available when we first arrived, except that no one had cleared the tables. Hostess didn't greet anyone, she waited until people walked up to her. Our server was great, but there was still a fairly long wait to get our food after ordering. Food was ok, but nothing worth bragging about. The peppers and onions in my western omelet were under cooked, as well as my hash browns. I ended up feeling nauseous after finishing my meal. Probably will not come back for breakfast. Would not recommend.

Amazing reuben! I had mine on sourdough. It has an extra piece of butter-grilled bread in the middle to beef up the sandwich. Fries were delightful; crispy outside, fluffy inside and not greasy. It's has always been busy when I go there but the service doesn't slack and is always pleasant and attentive. The prices are reasonable and the vibe is cozy and comfortable. My go to stop when in lacrosse for a hearty meal. I never leave hungry...ever.

Big Al's Pizza is a well-established pizza and burger joint located in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The restaurant is known for its nostalgic Americana decor, featuring vintage ads and even a 1959 Cadillac as part of its interior design. Recent updates to the interior have enhanced the dining experience, although some patrons miss certain iconic decorations like the upside-down Christmas tree on the ceiling.
We shared a BBQ Chicken pizza and a Street Corn Salad and both were very good. The salad was so good, that we wish we’d each got our own and just skipped the pizza! (Even tho both were very good, the salad was just superior.) Their salads are big, too. You won’t be disappointed trying the street corn one. 🤤 Great service, clean bathrooms and restaurant and overall we had an enjoyable experience.

Pizza was delicious and order correct. It was a busy weekend with local college kids and other people visiting Big Al’s but the service was top notch. While I waited for my order I had several staff member ask if I needed help. I didn’t mind waiting for several minutes as my pizzas were made fresh and hot! Great ingredients and fabulous staff. I was thankful we ordered take out as it was quite busy and a loud atmosphere. If you’re looking for a friendly conversation place- you may want to make sure it’s a quiet weekend in the city first. Will definitely be back.

Big Al’s has been in business for a while and is always a favorite place to go for pizza. I have eaten here multiple times over the years since I was in college and recently they seemed to have changed and updated the interior. The sitting is a little better, but I do miss the upside down Christmas Tree on the ceiling among other cool decor. The brisket sandwich was good and the chicken wings were ok. We were hoping for traditional wings, but they only have boneless. The salad was excellent though. Overall a good experience and always a good choice among other restaurants downtown.

WOW! This place was AWESOME! We had a group of 10 of use visiting La Crosse for our daughter's wedding and this is where we chose to eat the night before! Thank you Ashley for having a nice big table for us to all sit together! To our waitress Kaitlyn P, you were AMAZING, you made the night so much fun for all of us! The pizza was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS we ordered 6 different pizzas including a gluten free one and they were all GREAT! The drinks were GREAT TOO! We ordered a couple of pink squirrel ice cream drinks at the end and they were SOOOO DELICIOUS! Big Al's is a MUST DO if you are in the downtown La Crosse area! Thank you everyone at Big Al's for making our family celebration ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!

Let me start by saying i LOVE big Al's and was craving it. So I ordered a take out order 2 pizzas and they were over cooked and hard to eat there was not enough cheese on my cheese pizza and due to being over cooked it was very difficult to bite through and chew. I will absolutely return to Big Al's, however I just wanted to make sure that they are aware so they can fix it. I hate leaving bad reviews and I would have preferred to email big Al's about the issue but could not find an email address there is only a phone number and chances of the message getting to the right person when making a call are slim in most cases.

A Gen Xer’s dream! Loved all the memorabilia and nods to my formative years! The small details are what made me smile - the menu item names, the posters in the restrooms, the music and 90s movie playing on a small screen on DVD no less! Hubs and I enjoyed challenging each other to the 80s trivia left on our table while we waited for our food. (I won!) Service was amazing and food was really good! We shared the “Those aren’t pillows!” biscuits and gravy 😆 and a Western omelette. No complaints - food was hot and delicious. Not to mention inexpensive! Our total bill was $25 with sodas. I smiled ear to ear the entire time and can’t wait to return for a little flash back to my childhood!

Always an excellent choice for breakfast! Lotsa Tots are my go to (with cheese vs sausage gravy). Pancake of the month is usually good, too (June was Pineapple Upside Down Cake). No cost 2 hour parallel street parking is available, but there's a parking ramp across the street, too. Usually busy, so expect a bit of a wait. It goes pretty fast.

Wow. I've been wanting to try this place ever since I've heard about it and this place far exceeded my expectations. For 16 dollars with drink is deal you just can't find anymore. The service was excellent with friendly staff. The steaks chicken and unlimited burgers were all very tasty. To think I could've ate 4 burgers that tasted that good is incredible and they had the type of cheesecakes I like. This reminds me of a ponserosa but a little more homie. This is comfort food at it's finest. I'll definitely be back

Home style buffet. We live in Madison and drove up specifically to come here. Location is good, food was good, service was great. Staff were working their butts off making sure the tables were cleaned and refills and the buffet was clean and stocked. Every thing in the buffet was well stocked! Which is a rare thing for any buffet but these gals (primarily saw women working except at the grill which were men) kept the buffet clean and the guys on the grill were very helpful and polite. Steaks were super moist and perfect size and consistent. Unlike going to like golden corral or a different buffet where you get inconsistent cuts and could get a cut with inconsistent temps these steaks were wonderful. Burgers looked good but we didn't have them. Could have slightly more room in between the steak/meat station and the rest of the buffet as if you wanted sides or other meal options you felt like you're cutting in line. Lasagna was kinda lack luster but was alright. Had a well stocked taco bar. Well stocked dessert station. Cheesecake wow! That is delicious and one of the best cheese cakes we've had.

The service was ok. Waitress kept our table clean but don’t ask if we wanted refills. We would have to ask for them and she allowed one to run dry. The food was warm at least but for me wasn’t flavored nicely. The enchiladas were good. The salad bar was really good too. The steaks were dry, tough and over cooked every time. I went up 3 times for a med rare and each was well done. Definitely need to season them otherwise they are flavorless. The deserts wasn’t that bad

Prices are very good, for seniors it was $14. 2nd time I have been there and will go again when in the area.

I ordered the walleye dinner ($32), which comes with garlic mashed potatoes, and mixed vegetables (zucchini, onion, etc...). I requested the potatoes be substituted with the mac & cheese. They gave me potatoes, and no vegetables. The fish was awful and tasteless. I've eaten walleye since I was a child, and this is by far, the worst I've ever had! I was only able to stomach 2 small bites. Pretty sure the fish was frozen, and not fresh. I requested tartar sauce...apparently they only have tartar sauce with their Friday fish fry. I was only able to eat the mac & cheese, but only after I picked out the overcooked/sharp bacon pieces. I tried a couple small bites of the potatoes...nothing special, not much flavor. My husband ordered the prime rib ($40), but they only have packets of Heinz horseradish sauce...TACKY, especially for the price! I tried some of his veggies...overcooked/mushy. Our server was very nice, but VERY inattentive. The manager came to our table at the end of our meal. He apologized, but only offered me a complimentary dessert. Not even a portion of my meal was comped. The salad was delicious, and 10/10 to the bartender. The mac & cheese was delicious, once I got past the bacon. There is a LOT of room for improvement here! You can do better, and you need to! We won't be back. Am also not happy about paying $96 for one of the worst meals I've ever had, with service to match.

I would avoid dining here if at all possible. We are at the Radisson every year for Oktoberfest. Where we find the staff at Radisson in general to be polite and helpful, the staff at the Three Rivers are anything but. There is a host stand at the entrance to the restaurant and it is generally unmanned, so waiting 10 or more minutes for someone to come out of the kitchen area to help us is not uncommon. After waiting the requisite 10 to 15 minutes to get any service this morning, we asked for.a table for.7 and were told verbatim "I won't do that.". We told him we could split up the group and again were refused. He said that there were two groups of.9 and 13 who had made reservations and that he would not be seating anyone else. We could see the tables set up for the two groups. We could also see 5 or 6 additional.empty tables. Because of the size of our group, we have tried to reserve space here.in the past and were told they did.not accept reservations. That policy may have changed, but we were extremely disappointed that the person speaking to us made no attempt whatsoever to accommodate us. He did not.offer to put us on a list, did not provide any insight into how to get a table, just said we will not be seating anyone else. He then walked off without bothering to acknowledge any of the two or.three groups waiting behind us. This has been a recurring theme with this restaurant over the years and I am certain that were they not in the lobby of a busy hotel they would have gone out of business years ago. Great hotel, disappointing restaurant.

I had a French dip for lunch that cost $21 and I was hungry when I left. It was very good. It was just very meager. They dumped them in a small dumpster right in front of me while I was eating

Too many good places within walking distance to settle for this poor excuse for a restaurant. Horrible service, ridiculous prices, mediocre (at best) food. Texas Roadhouse is a vibrant steakhouse chain that offers a blend of American cuisine with a Southwestern twist, set against Texas-themed decor. Guests often find the staff to be attentive and welcoming, providing prompt service from the moment they arrive. The menu features a variety of dishes, including perfectly cooked steaks and flavorful salads. While some patrons may have experienced minor issues with their meals, many leave satisfied and eager to return for another enjoyable dining experience.
Took my mom to dinner last night, Thursday. I had done the wait list seating. I wasn't thorough on reading the text... it said to send REMOVE when your full party had arrived. I sent that as we walked in and I told the hostess I had done the ahead seating with our confirmation number. She looked at her stuffs...informed me I should be sending HERE as remove will do just that for my name on the list! She said it wasn't a problem since there was no wait yet but she wanted me to know so it wasn't an issue at a later date. I thanked her for her clarification and that I appreciated her! On to dinner... the delightful TJ was our server. He was ever so accommodating when we noticed the only ceiling fan on was the one next to our table, so we asked if it could be turned off? Poor TJ, trying to reach the chain....then it was pulled to the point it was cycling on high. He found his manager and there is a wall switch to make it easier, but thank you for being so accommodating!! The food....was delicious!! I always enjoy that my side salad comes out on a cold plate. When we asked TJ for a second butter for our rolls... he brought out another roll basket with two butters!! Above and Beyond. Thank you TJ and Texas Roadhouse for providing us a the delicious meal coupled with delightful and attentive service we have come to know and appreciate from other restaurants in your chain, we will be back, cheers!

We had been going to this Texas Roadhouse at least twice a month for years and had a stretch about 1.5 years ago where the ribeyes we ordered came out pitch black so we quit going. About a year ago we started going back and things were ok until 2 months ago. About 2 months ago we ordered the bone in ribeye and it was burnt black. They tried to disguise it by putting the burnt side down. My husband ate what he could and then shared my meal with me. We didn’t complain bc we were in a hurry. We avoided the steaks on our next visits until tonight. The server talked us into a fresh cut special 23oz bone in ribeye and said it was about $4-5 more than the 20 ounce on the menu. Well it was $8 more and when the steak came out it was charred black and definitely did not look like a 23oz steak!! The steak was $40. I tried 2 small bites and my husband tried 3 while we waited for our server to come back ( which took a while). We told her it was burnt black. She took it to the manager and he came back out with the steak and apologized and said he was sorry but it was a special cut and he was out of them. I told him it would be ok to just get us a 20oz. Then he said well it looks like you ate most of the steak (we had a another couple with us that looked at him in surprise and said no they didn’t and we said the same thing) so I can’t do that for you. He told us we could just cut the black char off. It was everywhere!!!! He said he could adjust our bill a little. (Went home and ate after we left). To top it off there was a nail or staple sticking out from the seat and my husband had shorts on and cut his leg in multiple places on it sliding into the booth. The manager said oh thanks for letting me know and walked off. Should have gone to the freight house or outback. Definitely would have been better all around. (Afterthought I took a picture after my husband decided to eat some of it since he had to pay for it. He shouldn’t have…he was sick all night.) My husband told me he would have walked out but didn’t because we were with another couple.

Saturday, 07/12/25,. I was there at 1:30 p.m. It was not extremely busy, I was able to get a table right away. I had the prime rib sandwich that is not yet on the menu. With a side of mashed potatoes and all the fixings on top. That cost me $15

I want to take a moment to highlight the amazing service we received during our recent visit, all thanks to our waitress. From the moment we were seated, she treated us with genuine respect and warmth, making us feel like more than just another table to serve. It was clear that she takes pride in her work — she didn’t just go through the motions or act like she was there just for a paycheck. She was attentive without being overbearing, kind without being fake, and professional while still being down-to-earth. It honestly felt like she cared about giving us a good experience, and that really stood out. She made us feel truly welcome, like we belonged there. It’s rare these days to find someone who treats their job with such sincerity and effort, especially in customer service. Her positive attitude and respectful demeanor turned a simple meal into something we genuinely enjoyed. We left feeling appreciated and well taken care of, and that’s something we won’t forget. If every restaurant had staff like her, dining out would always be a pleasure. Highly recommend! Paulie was my waitress today and I thank her for the such great service!!!

Finley was THE best! She was genuinely so nice and personable. Any business is lucky to have this girl. The food was amazing as always I love my chicken critters. I rated a 4 for the atmosphere because it was extremely cold, typically its not that bad.

Not going to lie I always stayed away from here mainly because of the amount of people that always seem to be there. I know it should be the other way around but... Went twice in the last 5 weeks and neither time disappointed. The food was great (I had pulled pork dinner, steak fries and mac and cheese 👍🏻👍🏻another person had the sirloin with mushrooms, mashed potato and side salad) Both meals were cooked well and portions were more than plenty! Would recommend!

We've been going to Texas Roadhouse for years. I will say it was awesome then and is awesome now. While some other chains have had the quality of the dining experience go down, Texas Roadhouse has kept up it's exceptional experience. Severs are knowledgeable, food is excellent and wait times are acceptable.

Fortunately the only place for late night food in downtown La Crosse. Amazing draft beer selection. Very creative menu. I enjoyed a nicely diverse selection of craft beer and a very creative and tasty Kimchi Rueben. Impressive selection of bottled beer and cocktails. Relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Friendly bartender! Highly recommended.

Stopped in on Christmas Day about noon... was there a couple hours, the place just got busier as the day went on. I've been meaning to stop in since I moved my mom to the area a few years ago. I got the vibe the Bodega is an Institution! I love the old tap handles, coasters and world money that adorn numerous places! Elizabeth took great care of us...offering beer samples and making a delicious Old Fashioned! We didn't dine on the $15 holiday meal as this was a stop as our dinner cooked @ home. I liked that the tap lists are on overhead TV's and broke out by lists, such as Christmas beers. There was a good selection; the local breweries, several WI breweries and just good breweries from around the US and a few high ABV imports. The stool seating are regular height bar stools, so easy to hop on to and padded, thanks. The place never got annoyingly loud as it got busier, thanks! I love the whole wall of floor to ceiling windows! Street parking was easy and w a convenient 2 hour limit. Now that I've finally made it in I will definitely be in when I come to town. Thanks Bodega and Elizabeth for a fantastic inaugural visit, cheers!

Went here for lunch at 12pm on a Wednesday. Cool looking place but one member of our party was 20 years old so we were denied service and told to leave. Luckily, Buzzard Billy’s was right down the street and we had a great meal there! I highly recommend the Beef Brisket Shells and Cheese.

Huck Finn's On the Water is an American restaurant with a picturesque outdoor seating area that offers stunning water views. The menu features a variety of dishes including burgers, steak, catfish, and ribs. Guests can enjoy dining by the marina with a great view of the water and bluffs on the other side. Some diners have noted that while the service was good, they were not offered drink refills.
Very cool place at the marina. A little interesting to find but plenty of parking & the food was very good. Our server was very pleasant & he checked back often which was great because it was hot & we went through the drinks. The calamari had a lot of breading on it but was well seasoned & the coconut shrimp was great. The wraps & the salads were also heavy portions & very good. It’s a great patio with a fun view of the marina as boats come & go.

Looking for a seafood restaurant and my son came across this place. Willing to try something new and we were not disappointed. Wonderful atmosphere, especially sitting outside. Service was prompt and timely. Food was well prepared as all of us enjoyed what we had.

Met up with some friends for lunch recently on a Thursday and the ribs were the menu special so I tried them. They were very tasty and as advertised, falling off the bone. I was, however, expecting a little larger serving for the price but excellent flavor none-the-less. Waitress was pleasent. Nice river view. All in all a great lunch. Updated: Met up with my friends again for lunch today before we went on the river. I had the special, cornmeal catfish, which was excellent. Definitely recommend.

Took us a bit to get service, even then the prices don't really make sense. The waiter couldn't explain why the petite steak was the same price as the normal steak. But if you're looking for a place to go to stare at beautiful scenery, you can't do much better in this area. Gorgeous views.

Very quiet after a busy weekend. We always enjoy Huck Finn’s. Our waitress was a sweetheart and very efficient! I ordered the shrimp special. 10 shrimp broiled. Flavor was great. Just small shrimp and not like my husbands shrimp for surf and turf. Good overal. My husbands steak had good flavor and done correct. Just a little tough. We enjoyed our time and will come again.

Just went to eat with my family of four for the very first time and it will be our last time. We walked in spoke to the hostess/ waitress and chose outdoor dining we were handed the menu and instructed to find a tall outside. We reviewed the menu and found everything appealing but we continued to wait for several minutes before we just got up and just walked out. The final straw was watching a couple that was seated long after us being addressed and served before us. Not one person approached us to say hello or say I am your waitress/waiter we will be with you momentarily. There were at least 4 waitresses/waiters that I saw walking around us. I have never felt so disrespected and invisible. My children have never had to walk out of a restaurant without eating before so that was an uncomfortable experience.
Marie F — Google review
Had dinner outside by the marina so view was great with the water and bluff on the other side, we even had a riverboat in the background. Service was good, but we weren't offered refills on drinks. Food was good. I had ribs with 2 sides, (salad not pictured). Ribs were not all as "fall off the bone" as I'd anticipated, and there were some bone fragments as well. The sauce had good flavor but was very sweet and rich, which some love but not my favorite. For the price I had higher expectations. I would recommend Huck Finns to try. The others in my party were pleased with their food.

Houghton's Jackson Street Pub is a cozy spot that offers delicious food and great service. The fish dishes, including the fish sandwich and the large fish dinner with crinkle cut fries, are particularly popular. The decor adds to the overall experience, and guests appreciate the efficient and friendly staff.
Quick service by Courtney at the bar counter. Best fish fry I've had so far in La Crosse!

Definitely meant to be more of a bar than a pub + restaurant. The food was cheap and greasy, the server only had enough patience for the regular bar-goers, and was rude to the college employee who took over her shift when we got there. If you're looking for a quick and convenient drinking spot near the Viterbo University, then it's not a bad option. I wouldn't recommend anything food wise unless it's late at night and you're looking for something to go along with a couple of drinks
Dawson C — Google review
This was our first and last time dining here!! The food was okay, the salad bar is the smallest salad bar that I have ever seen, and be prepared because the prices listed on the menu are NOT the prices that you will be charged—our ticket prices were at least $.50 to a $1.00 higher, and when I asked our server about the price difference she said (in a slightly sarcastic tone) “well, I have no control over the prices”, and the owner hasn’t updated the menus in a long time. The only thing that I truly enjoyed was the atmosphere, it was very nice and relaxing.

It's a great place to get a good meal, great service, and good, cold beer. Really enjoyed my first visit with my Mom and Brother so much that we went back again the next day. The Monday lunch special of meatloaf sandwich and mashed potatoes & gravy was a huge disappointment. The meatloaf consisted of burned edges, not appealing at all. Nutbush City Limits is a family-friendly bar and eatery offering American breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a classic atmosphere. Originally located along Hwy. 16, it was forced to relocate in 1985 due to highway expansion. Service was really good, food came out hot and it didn't take that long. Very nice portions of food and my burger was really good. I'd eat here again if I'm in the area, but I don't know if I'd go out of my way to do it. If I have anything less positive to say, it would be that I felt the prices were a bit high, but that seems to be the standard these days. Definitely not over the top by any means. Also, please update the online menu, it's really old.
LW H — Google review
If you enjoy frozen food and sauces out of a bag, this is the place for you. I had heard good things so I made plans for breakfast here. Big mistake. I ordered the beer battered pancakes with sausage links and one biscuit & gravy, because if you have B&G on the menu, I'm going to judge you by that alone. My brother had a spicy avocado eggs Benedict with tater tots because he's a tater total addict. Nothing could have prepared us for how awful the food was. They literally just put beer batter for fried fish or cheese curds in pancake mix. I'm not sure why you'd want a bitter beer aftertaste in pancakes but they went for it. Probably the worst pancake I've ever had. The biscuits and gravy was a frozen biscuit with powdered sausage gravy mix. I can look at it and tell you it's a mix without even tasting it. I'm 90% sure it's from Sysco. My brother's Benedict was just as bad. They took powdered Hollendaise sauce and blended it with a canned cheese sauce and threw in some spices they thought would liven it up. Eggs were cooked correctly but it was a weak outcome. His tater tots had more sodium than a salt lick which was odd, because they didn't salt the tots after cooking them. They had all that salt inside the actual tots. It was an insane amount, like a recoil amount. Not the restaurant's fault, but it is what it is. All in all, it's just not worth the higher prices. You can find much better food for cheaper anywhere in LaCrosse. It's too bad really, I had heard good things.

Coworker and I were heading to a nearby city for work from another state, and knowing fast food costs are wild now, would rather find a good burger from a local place…was literally just a “nearby restaurant”…I had the huge BBQ bacon burger, buddy had the wings special. Schmidty's Bar & Restaurant has been serving classic American dishes in a laid-back atmosphere since 1955. The outdoor seating is pet-friendly, making it a great spot for travelers with dogs. The restaurant seems to be popular among locals, as evidenced by the bustling parking lot and friendly greetings exchanged between regulars.
We had a fabulous experience on a Saturday night while in the La Crosse area visiting our son. The steaks were phenomenal. I had the Jameson whiskey filet and my husband had the queen cut prime rib. They were both perfectly cooked to medium rare, cut like butter, and were seasoned nicely. The salad bar was ok- maybe a little sparse but very fresh. The chicken dumpling soup was to die for. Our younger son had the cheeseburger and even that was great and they still cook to order (medium rare)!! Yay! We will definitely be back. Karissa was our server and she was fantastic. What a friendly, caring, and attentive young lady! Do not take her for granted; you’ve got a gem in her. Our food could have stunk and we’d still give 5 stars for her genuine, heartfelt service!! See you soon, we hope!!

First time in after the change in ownership. Wasn't impressed then, same can be said for now. Our cheese curds were definitely the highlight of the meal. My patty melt.....was grilled nicely. Otherwise the burger patty had no flavor, and the texture was terrible. Fries were nice and crisp though. The wall our booth butted up to was heavily flecked with previous guests food/beverage, who knows for how long. I had high hopes for some improvement over the former operators, but I guess not.
Charles G — Google review
Normally the food is good, but tonight I found out that the butterfly shrimp that is on the menu is something that the cooks do not know how to make and the chives on the baked potatoes is actually parsley. When speaking with staff, they thought it was funny. No one would take any accountability. This is so sad. UPDATE, I spoke to a cook she will cook butterfly shrimp and was told that butterflying the shrimp does make it taste any different. I beg to differ, as every which way shrimp is prepared, broiled, batter fried etc., does change the taste. Again - the attitude is not appreciated.

Have been to Schmidty’s before and always had a great meal for a good price. Salad Bar & Soup was terrific. Appetizers and entrees were OK at best. Very greasy and I don’t think oil had been changed in awhile. Service was slow but to give them the benefit of the doubt, there was a large party in the adjoining dining room.

Normally a very good dinner, but we arrived at 7:30pm and the salad bar was nearly empty, one roll left and the broiled fish was not very good. I asked to swap out salad bar for the vegetables but that was not an option unless added charge. When you pay full price, no matter the time you arrive, the dinner should be the same quality and selections as any other time. I blame the management for not attending to this. Still, we like the place, but would not go late. A $60 bill (2 drinks) for a less than satisfying dinner.
Jan W — Google review
Food has improved with new ownership and no ill will on them! Always a great place for supper or a drink. Schmidty's is the go to neighborhood place for fish fry and the like!

Wow. Arlene would be cracking skulls in this place. Soup on the salad bar was all water not even a vegetable. No lettuce in the salad bar. No rolls. The service is horrible. Guests standing around not being helped. Pork chop was completely raw to the point of bleeding. The server stared at it like she didn't know what to do. She took it back and cooked the same one. Really want your food cooked next to something from someone 's table. Last time for us here. What a horrible way to manage a La Crosse icon.

We have been here various times throughout the years when we visit LaCrosse and always look forward to the salad bar which use to be well stock with various options in a Supper Club way. Food is always awesome. Atmosphere is typical downtown excitement. I unfortunately only gave a four star review because the cashier seems to have an attitude. I had gotten 2 bowls of loaded baked potato soup and a sandwich. My total came out to be $30. Considering the rating, I assumed $30 was appropriate. But everything was bland. Sandwich was decent. But the soup had absolutely no flavor. You’re better off buying canned soup for 50 cents at Walmart. I called back offering to bring back my soup for a refund or to substitute for a different soup, but was declined. Will not be buying from here again. Food and Service was terrible.

Busy Saturday morning. Seated quickly. Service was slow. Had to ask for water. Menu had great choices. Ordered Avacado toast with extra eggs. Flavor was good and food was fresh but alittle "wet" my wife ordered a bowl with veggies ham and eggs. Her dish was "wet" as well. We figured it was the oil or the butter the food was cooked in. The bowl had way to many onions and potatoes where cut very big so where not cooked thru. I did order a cappuccino since it was a coffee resturant and was very disappointed. Not a recommended breakfast choice based on our experience. We thought it had potential but food was mediocre at best and service was slow.

Went in here the night before the LaCrosse Half Marathon, hoping to carb up on the Pesto Bruschetta Linguini. Unfortunately, by the time we got there for our 7:00 reservation, they were all sold out. Instead, us runners opted for the Mac and Cheese. I ordered mine "hot" (spicy) with Sriracha and Jalapeños and added pulled pork. While the dish was tasty, I didn't find it at all spicy. However, I do recognize that I can tolerate a fair degree of heat, so for me, adding a few more Jalapeños would have been great. My sister-in-law requested bacon on hers, and there was a lot of flavorful bacon added, which stayed nice and crispy. The Wisconsin Grazing Board was a nice, shareable size for the table with a great assortment of flavors. This is a cute spot, with lots of room, perfect for families and larger sized parties. Our waitress was great, being very attentive and patient. Definitely a place worth a return.

The greeter and waitresses were VERY attentive and super friendly, with genuine smiles and provided quick service. The food was so good that I ate everything I ordered! I really loved the extra large onion ring...I'll be back when I'm in that area again.

Had the 3 meat trio with chicken, burnt ends and Jalepeňo cheddar sausage. It was delicious and all for a reasonable price. Nice staff. I went back to take advantage of a great offer and got the baby back ribs with sweet Korean heat sauce, burnt ends, and pulled pork. Very delicious!

Stopped off of 90 for lunch and smelled the smoke! Needed immediate brisket satisfaction or else. The navigator parked the RV as I went in to order. Take out no call ahead and it took about 12 minutes. Not bad. The burnt ends appetizer was good, the onions they gave with it weren’t so crispy or my choice anyways so not harm there. The Sassy BBQ salad raised the moral of the navigator while the might mini passengers smashed the ribs and corn dogs. I had the brisket sandwich and thought it was good. Nothing crazy or overwhelming but good. The pickles were the most unique flavor I’ve had. They had an after taste of coleslaw and I liked it, but wasn’t ready for it. No disappointments here and you can expect what you would from any Famous Dave’s. That smoke!!!!

Everyone hustling because it was understaffed, girl sat me at table, took order, helped other guests, and I think cooked part of my food...she did it with a smile and didn't miss a beat. But REALLY.... should your restaurant be understaffed like that, no other servers, no hostess, a bartender, a manager, one server, one cook...if they had had more than 4 tables and a couple pick ups like that hour and a quarter I was there my experienced service would have been much slower and poor...Ya got good people there, get them help, don't burn them out, or get them hurt because they have to rush...and that makes my experience worse too...it only reflects poorly on upper management and the owners.

Tucked away in the delightful city of La Crosse, Howie’s on La Crosse is a vibrant sports bar that beckons food enthusiasts and travelers alike. This lively spot boasts an impressive menu featuring gourmet burgers, delectable sandwiches, and mouthwatering pizzas, all complemented by a full drink selection. Whether you're craving their signature Howie burger or some flavorful chicken wings with various spice options, you’re sure to find something to satisfy your appetite.
There is a huge selection of on tap beers, mainly local or midwestern with some of the standard big beer brands as well. The menu had plenty of choices with speciality burgers, delicious fries and specialty sides, fun cocktails, and an excellent kids menu that included a dessert and a great price! The restaurant itself had a great ambiance. Our waitress was excellent and we were served quickly and efficiently. Well trained staff and excellent food! Had options for all!

My mother-in-law, son and I were having lunch at Howie’s today (09/09/2025). We have been coming to Howie’s for years. So we are regular customers and come in every Tuesday. I ordered the chicken tender meal with coleslaw, instead of fries; with honey mustard on the side. The server brings my food out. It had fries when I didn’t want that; along with regular mustard, instead of the honey mustard. Before I ate, I asked if my son wanted one of the tenders. About 20 minutes of eating, my son comes across one of the tenders that he couldn’t even bite into. We tell the server, and he told the manager (Blake). Blake comes lashing out at us stating, “I am NOT giving you a new tender!! Every time you guys come in, you always have this issue!!” Blake then stated, “If you don’t like it, then DON’T come here anymore!!” Blake was then clearing our table and not asking if we were finished with anything. So he was taking away the mini corn dogs that were not finished. My mother-in-law asked for the manager’s number. Blake brought the number and told her that he called and said to expect a call. After the incident, Blake was no more to be seen. He is a coward, disrespectful and DOES NOT deserve to be a manager!!

This is a great bar! We sat outside on the patio because they are dog friendly. The fried pickles are nicely battered and well seasoned, with a homemade ranch that is delicious. The Howie's Cheesesteak was also very good and my wife really enjoyed her chicken wrap on a homemade tortilla. Our server Janessa was so kind and thoughtful to our dog. She brought out a water dish and we were able to get a burger patty for him ($2). Thank you Janessa and Howies for a wonderful evening. Hope to be back in the area soon and come again.

I’m trying to setup catering but no one will answer the phone or return an email. Is this place even open? Update: I got a call back from Dave. He left a voicemail apologizing that he didn’t see my emails. I also left a voicemail days ago which was never returned. We ended up going with a different company that wanted our business.

Howie's burger is good, forgot what I got this time but was feeling hungry so I added another patty and it was stacked so tall with other stuff it was hard to eat but worth the challenge. Have come here with large groups a few times and they do a great job getting everyone to a table. Servers are great, good food, nice local place.

Stopped by Howies for lunch after my son had hand surgery today. Mercedes was our server. Service was great, the food was great and what most impressed me, and I have been there before, was that Logan the bar manager came over to each table in the bar and asked how everything was. Now it was not that busy but that really was a nice gesture on the establishment. Kudos to Logan and Mercedes. You were appreciated today!!! Thank you.

New Taste of India is a bustling eatery that serves up a mix of traditional Indian and Indian-Asian fusion dishes, along with delectable desserts. Despite not being commonly associated with Asian cuisine, the restaurant offers a unique and flavorful experience that caters to your Asian food cravings. The menu features classic items like samosas and naan paired with mango lassi, as well as more adventurous options such as Buttered Chicken, Lamb R.J., and Goat Curry.
The food was great! I would got to say, the service was ok, could be better. The waitress makes it kind of awkward. And this was not the first time I’ve gone to this restaurant too. The waitress isn’t bad, she just seems a bit awkward. But other than that, the food is great and it comes out in a decent amount of time. Every time I go, I would get the goat saag with the basket of a variety of the naan bread. We also got the chicken butter curry and that was good too. Overall, I love going to this place! And I believe it’s the only Indian food place in town, although I could be wrong.

Food was great! One humorous thing to note, I ordered Chicken Tika Masala and my wife ordered Butter Chicken. They’re exactly the same with different cuts of chicken! Either way, it was delicious, as was the naan.

Tasty food, but way overpriced for what it was. Ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken — both came out identical in color and flavor. Staff confirmed they were correct, but if you closed your eyes, you couldn’t tell which was which. Pretty sure they shared the same sauce. Naan for two ran almost $20, so overall it felt like a pricey way to get the same dish twice.

Food was very good! Lamb Tikka Masala and Chicken Vindaloo were a hit. Love the small business vibes and the copper dishes.

The food is great. The restaurant is dirty, the ceiling is covered in dark black soot and stuff falls from the ceiling. The staff are all nice enough but don't speak great English (all speaking Spanish which is weird for an Indian restaurant). And...the staff sat and watched us while we ate our food, perched on a table near the kitchen door, just watching. It was unnerving. The cost of the food is outrageous as well. It was like paying for a meal in a 5 star restaurant in a big city!

I recently visited Fiesta Mexicana in La Crosse for a dinner with a close friend whom I hadn't seen in years. It had been quite some time since I last dined there, but the experience was exceptional. The food was mouthwatering and arrived promptly, while the staff provided attentive service. Upon returning to the area, I am eager to revisit or order takeout from this beloved eatery.
Food was outstanding! Salsa was a great-spicy mild! We were given TWO bowls of salsa at that! And they even refilled us on the salsa! I had a pick three combination which was really good. Even the co-owner even gave an on the house sopapilla. 10/10!

The place was basically empty when I walked in. Sat at the bar. Margarita was your typical. Staff were very friendly, hands down. The queso dip with chorizo sausage was good. They use the sausage that is not greasy. Yes, there is a BIG difference in chorizo's. Small selection on burritos meat selection, that is. They made accommodation for my to go order (pastor), normally tacos only here. A burrito does not and should not be served with Pico and sourcream on top. Those should always be on the inside. One should NOT have to eat a burrito with a knife and fork. Got back to my room in complete disappointment! Did not eat it much less touch it.

I really like this location and tend to dine in within the bar area. Prices are very reasonable, food tastes good and what you would expect from a Pub & Grill. My go-to is the California Burger with a side of fries (photo attached). There are two parts to this pub. One side of the building is more a family setting with a proper restaurant dining area. On the opposite side is the pub/bar. Seating around the bar is ample and there are also dining tables for those who want to have an adult beverage with their meal in a more casual setting. They typically have fresh popped popcorn that diners can help themselves to while they wait for their meal or while having a beer. Overall - it's a good place to stop in, have a drink, and enjoy a no-frills lunch or dinner. My only disappointment, thus reducing the overall to 4-stars, was they recently stopped doing a Tuesday night dinner special on burgers as it became a ritual among myself and a few friends each week to stop in, have a beer, nibble on some popcorn, and eat a burger combo. I'll still go back though. I've never had a bad experience and staff is pleasant.

Neat atmosphere. Service was a little slow at times, water glass got empty but overall she was friendly and it was the end of the night so I’m sure she was trying to get other stuff done. I’d never tried breasted chicken before. Not a huge fan. Menu was deceptive. Offers 1/4 or 1/2 a chicken. One would assume this meant a breast, wing, thigh and leg for a half. Especially when it says you have to pay $1 more for all white meat. I got two breast/wings and asked the waitress but she said they only offer white meat which is a bummer since the thigh is my favorite. Seems crappy to that they charged the $1 extra when I didn’t even have the option for dark meat. I’d go back to try some of the other stuff on the menu.

Food is always excellent no matter if it is breakfast or dinner! Love love love the popcorn, best I have had in town. Only complaint I have is one of the hostesses there is not very kind, and hasn’t been on multiple occasions , just always seems to be bothered that we came in and never smiles . The owners wife is very kind and attentive to customers needs. I have seen her on many busy mornings handle the customer seating flow seamlessly and with grace . She really appears to genuinely care about her customers!

Crab house
Red Lobster is a bustling chain eatery that offers classic American seafood dishes in a charming New England-themed setting. It attracts regular patrons who appreciate their enticing promotions, such as the all-you-can-eat shrimp and special crab leg offerings. While the cuisine is satisfactory, it's the exceptional service provided by the waitstaff that truly elevates the dining experience. The staff members are friendly, attentive, and leave a lasting impression on customers.
We've loved Red Lobster for years. This one dates back to our college days in the 1990s and we've never been disappointed. Our server was amazing. She was attentive to what we needed even though she had a ton of tables. We had shrimp and they were delicious! The one issue we had was plainly stated as we walked in. The restaurant was/is short staffed, and they struggled keeping up with the people they had. This is not unusual for most businesses, but it was sad to see how it changed this great place. I'd recommend Red Lobster and go with the Never End Shrimp! Lots of shrimp and with the "never ending" part, you shouldn't go away hungry! :)
Darin J — Google review
We recently stopped in for a later lunch (1300) and the place was probably 3/4 full. There were several empty tables available but the hostess said there will be a 15 minute wait. Assuming shortage of wait staff was the reason. It appears a large part of the main dining room has been cordoned off which I again assume due to the shortage of staff. Our waitress (Melissa) was very pleasant and took good care of us. The hostess on the other hand appeared to be in pain and struggled to produce a smile. We ordered two of the lunch specials, the Sailors Platter and the Southwest Shrimp Bowl. And along with that those famous Cheddar Bay biscuits! Both of our meals were actually very good! The shrimp on the Southwest bowl had an excellent grilled taste. It's apparent to me that Red Lobster is not the same as I recall from years back when it was one of THE places to go. Now, it just seems old and worn out and in need of a face lift. However if you can get by the appearance, the food, at least for us, was very good and might be worth your time to check out.
Mark M — Google review
Red Lobster is a nice place to eat fish. Yet, it looks a little bit chaotic when it comes to service. The food was delicious, for sure, but there were misunderstandings when ordering. There seems to be a difference between who can serve your meal and who can’t, so that was probably the issue. One person took my husband’s order, but it seems like it was not given to the kitchen properly. The waitress (who’s not the original waiter we had, nor the person who took the order) came back with a different dish. The food was good, I would come back if I had to, but it was not extraordinary or anything out of this place. I have been in other locations and they seemed to be better organized.
Anna T — Google review
Not like it used to be and expensive for what you get. There is no bartender so couldn't sit in the bar and have a drink and order carry out. I had to sit in the dining room. I told the hostess and waitress I was getting carry out. The food was brought to the table, had to tell them a 3rd time my food is to go. Ordered another beer and was told by waitress they were out of it. They only had 2 bottles left of corona beer. I wanted to order the fries with lobster on top that is shown on the new item menu and was told by the waitress they don't have the cheese to make it, then I tried to order the lobster queso dip and again was told by the waitress they don't have the cheese to make it. The baked potato looks like it was smashed. The clam strips had very few strips and more like clam pebbles I ate with a spoon, the scallops were smaller than the size of a penny and the coleslaw was only three bites. The shrimp and fish were the only thing that was good. Will never go there again.

The wait to get a seat was long and it wasn't because the restaurant was that busy. I stood by the door for 10 min waiting for my wife and saw the hostess once. When my wife showed up a waiter walking by went in back and got the hostess to come out and seat us. The waiter we had was fantastic and had already had previous customers complain to him about having to wait to be seated. The food was good for a chain restaurant. Best part though was waiter we had.

The Madison and Sun Prairie Huhots have closed down, and so whatever chance we can our family stops at Huhot in the Dells or La Crosse for a meal. If you've never been here, you can see from attached pictures that the food is cooked by employees around a hot grill. First, it is up to you to pick any type of pasta, a range of meats or seafood, and of course vegetables. There is then one more step before you bring your bowl to the grill, and that is where you choose from a variety of sauces to add to your dish. Next, when you get to the sauce and oil table, choose from a variety of mild to hot spicy sauces and juices and oils. My favorite go to is: Pad Thai noodles, steak and/or chicken slices, green 🫑, broccoli, peas, chick peas, mushrooms, zucchini noodles, and cilantro. Then for sauces: 4 ladles of black peanut 🥜 sauce, 1 ladle of kung pow yao, 1 ladle of burn the village, 1 ladle of lime juice, and 1 ladle of sesame oil. Finally, you bring your bowl to the grill. It's nice and customary to tip the chefs, so bring some extra fives and singles...or go higher if you're feeling really generous. Sometimes the chefs will do extra tricks for tips depending on who is working and what their skill level is. Note: ***Sometimes different Huhots have different local rules. The last time I went I got scolded by a little grandma employee because I dripped some of the peanut sauce. It did not irritate me because she was right, and thinking of other customers. But if you're a spiller like me, I know that at least this worker would prefer you bring two bowls that are less full to one bowl that is overbrimming...in order to avoid spills. It's fun bringing people to Huhot who have never been to one before. My daughter and I brought her roommate who was visiting for the first time. We had a blast. Don't forget you can order rice from the waitress...and several desserts await if that is your thing. I usually don't have room, because the dinner is all you can eat, and three bowls is usually enough to keep me from pissing off my diabetic nurse by ordering one of their s'mores or cheese cake bites. The Wannebo family really does love this place, though. Not too fancy...but a long way from McDonald's, if you know what I mean.

I needed some high protein option. So I loaded up the bowl with 5 eggs and a bunch of meat and veggies. All the options of flavors you can add are great. Sweet and sour and samurai teriyaki is a great flavor combo.

The food is great and the ones who make it do a great job...unfortunately our servers are always horrible, the hardly touch our table and we pretty much never get refills on our drinks.

La Crosse Bierhaus is a delightful spot to unwind, especially when other dining options are bustling with long waits. With its inviting ambiance and a menu featuring classic German fare, it’s easy to see why this place stands out. Guests rave about the delicious brats and German potato salad, while the friendly staff adds to the welcoming vibe. The experience is enhanced by live polka music that creates a lively atmosphere perfect for enjoying their impressive beer selection served in traditional stein glasses.
Stopped here on probably one of the busier afternoons of the year as a statewide event was going on at Lacrosse Center. First off, food was good. Ordered the Lacrosse brat and potato salad. Atmosphere was great. There was a musician with an accordion who also had jokes. Our server, Addie, was very pleasant and unfazed given how busy they were. I will certainly return.

So, where to begin… If I could give no stars I would. We arrived at roughly 4:30, there were 4 of us. Place was pretty much empty. Our server was polite and brought out waters quickly. We ordered a couple beers, she offered us a sample… all is going well at this point. We ordered the pretzel for an appetizer, and it was the best part of the meal. After the pretzel arrived it was a significant amount of time before we saw our server again. We ordered the Saturday special , which was a chicken schnitzel, and the pork schnitzel which was not on special. After about a 40 minute wait our food arrived. Of the four of us, two got the special and two ordered the regular dinner. The portions on the specials were considerably smaller than the regular entrees. All of them were fried to hockey puck status. The sauerkraut was bland and inedible. The red cabbage tasted like cardboard. We left a majority of the food on the plate. Had it not been for the pretzel appetizer, which was gigantic, we would have left hungry. The reason for the service rating is because as we were paying the bill, we mentioned the sub par food, the server’s response was “ yea, those looked way over done to me too.” So after all that, the servers thought the food looked bad, and yet served it anyway. As we waited and waited for our check more and more people started to enter and the place filled up quickly. Our server was not only serving and bussing tables, she was slinging drinks behind the bar. She was definitely slammed, and this review is not directed at her, but rather whoever the manager is for not having the proper staffing. Bottom line is the food was horrible and the insufficient staffing made the experience less than enjoyable. Will not be going back.

We had an enjoyable lunch at LaCrosse Bierhaus today. Yes, it was busy but our waitress was very attentive. There was a bit of a wait for our food however, the musical entertainment with the accordion was quite entertaining and did his best to get the crowd involved. I had a brat and fries and they were fantastic.
Jane L — Google review
I would never recommend this place. Our Pork Schnitzel was way over cooked, even hard to cut with a steak knife. The spaetzle was cold as well as the cabbage. Told them the Schnitzel was way over cooked the waitress said Sorry about that. I gave it two stars because the pretzel was good.

Cool vibe. Live polka. Monster Bavarian pretzels with mustard. Great selection of German and a curated selection of Wisconsin and Minnesota beers. My only disappointment was when I ordered the Beyond Burger (they also have a Beyond Brat). It was clearly cooked on the same grill top as beef/other meats, and the server confirmed it. I don't want beef on my meatless meal. Do better, management. Don't offer vegetarian entrees if you do this type of stuff. It's misleading and immoral.

We had such a great time here. Friendly greeting at the door, was seated immediately. Great beer menu. Drinks were delivered quickly. The Oktoberfest beer from tap was INCREDIBLE! So good! This was our server's second day at work and she was phenomenol! Attentive, quick and very helpful. We also ordered the Bacon on a Stick (freaking fabulous) and the pretzel, which is ENORMOUS! And delicious. Overall, we really enjoyed just a great evening here. Hope to make it back soon.

Had very high hopes but quickly fizzled once my food arrived. Buns were rock hard, brats were okay, sauerkraut decent, but potato salad was good. Disappointing they didn't offer a military discount.

Amazing food, beer, and atmosphere! It was a joy and I will definitely be back! Went with some friends and we shared a couple appetizers plus our meals. Even the sides were outstanding! Plus fun and appropriate live music! The entire experience was a salve for my soul.

Hunan is a delightful eatery that serves up an array of mouthwatering Chinese dishes, including crispy deep-fried dumplings and the standout orange beef. The menu boasts a fantastic selection of sauces that perfectly complement each dish. While the meats are sliced thin for quick cooking alongside fresh vegetables, they may not always deliver a robust flavor on their own. However, the garlic honey chicken truly shines with its perfect balance of spice and sweetness—definitely worth trying!
If you don't like the flavor, it's your own fault! The suggested recipes are great. The choice of sauces is excellent! The meats are thin, to cook at the speed of the veggies, but when they are thin, you don't taste much of the meats' flavor. The waitress was prompt, the chefs did a great job of throughly coming the food.
Jack M — Google review
The veggies looked as if were frozen and re cooked. The General tso's chicken sauce non existent, probably because it was as watered down as the sweet and sour was. The fried wantons were literally empty, pretty much a folded fried wanton wrapper. Food in general reminded me of the stuff you can get in the freezer section, then poorly prepared. Ended up throwing away $30 because it was so bad. To top it off the fortune cookie wasn't sealed and the fortune mocked the terrible experience
Quaid D — Google review
Ordered online here tonight, ordered sesame chicken and paid 3 extra dollars for extra sesame chicken and a thing of white rice with it. Ordered shrimp lo mein (which was terrible) and egg rolls. We never got our sesame chicken at all or rice and i called and kindly told them that they had forgotten to give it to us and the guy AND chef literally yelled at me telling me i was lying and that i did get it. The food was terrible and i paid 50 bucks and tipped 10 to get half my food. Will never be returning. Do not go here.
Kristina G — Google review
Rated one star as there is no lower rating, food was not prepared as advertised, menu described entree as savory, and taste was sour with a little sweet. Noodles in thee lo mein were overcooked and soggy. Fried rice was flavorless and dry. If I could rate lower I would.

This place makes a lot of really good food, but the garlic honey chicken is pretty amazing. It's worth it just to go and get that, it's nice and spicy but at the same time as that wonderful sweetness. The staff for helpful without being hovering.

Heard good things about the quality of the food. Was very unhappy with the Egg Foo Young, it smelled burnt, looked burnt, and tasted burnt. When I called to give my feedback the response was oh it didn’t taste good, have you ever had the dish before. I was again just repeated that it smelt burnt, looked burnt, and tasted burnt, the cook should not have sent it out. I do not recommend this restaurant

Our experience was not good. The host was not friendly and the food was not up to standards like it was before these owners. The host was also our waiter and when clearing our table, he spilled juices from our plates onto our coats and seats. When I mentioned this to him, he said so sorry and that was it. Very disappointed and will never go back.

From the name and catch phrase I definitely expected more from this place. Maybe it was just the time of day we went but still none the less we were not impressed. We were the only ones there and sat at a table with no staff in sight for about 5-10 min. Than the server /bartender was in and out of the restaurant on her cell phone most of the time. Food was ok though. Since I myself am a first responder, we were very excited we were able to finally try this place but unfortunately will probably never return.

We were very disappointed in our Easter Brunch. We had to wait at least 15 minutes even though we had reservations & there were empty tables. The food was mediocre at best. They had a large selection of food but it just wasn't very good quality for charging $18.50 per person. The food seemed dry as though it had been sitting out for some time.
Kim F — Google review
DiggersHotline had their annual safety dinner there last night. The meal was an absolute disaster!!! they ran way short of food with 10-20% left to eat. The chicken was extremely dry... I supposed they hoped you’d by drinks to help choke it down 😂. They ran out of gray for the potatoes, ran out of the vegetables and had completely ran out of salad toppings with many people left. Seriously? Huge miss calculation. It took probably 30 minutes to get people through the line and could have easily setup to run two lines through (one on each side of serving tables) to cut the serving time in half. Need some common sense management! HUGE disappointment! Hope Diggers rethinks their venue for La Crosse next year.

Got 2 stars for having cold drinks. If not for those, 1 star. If you are expecting good food, keep looking. In Wisconsin, it should be illegal to serve the fish they do on friday nights. The chicken had a dry leather texture and the side dishes were all out of a box. Service was good but it didnt make up for the food. Will never be back unless we are starving and all of LaCrosse is closed.

We checked in to hotel after driving 3.5 hours and only one waitress for bar and food. She said we could maybe get an appetizer... They had a wedding that day... So we went elsewhere. I felt sorry for her.

Polito's Pizza is a local chain renowned for its delicious pizza offerings, including both individual slices and large specialty pies. One of the advantages of dining at this establishment is the mouthwatering taste of their pizzas, which has received high praise from customers. A fresh pizza ordered for a family was particularly impressive and came at an affordable price of $34 for four people, beverages included.
Freaking excellent pizza. Garlic knots were fresh and delicious as well. Friendly service! Quesadilla pizza was just bomb. 💣 🍕 I would have gotten a 2nd slice if I wasn’t stuffed. Fantastic price — got combo 3 for much is 2 pizza slices, garlic knots, and 2 drinks for $16. Very reasonable. Bathroom also very spacious and clean! Always a plus in my book.

Pretty tasty pizza, the 20” is gigantic! Went there today for a pick up, lots of pizzas already made for customers to buy by the slice. I would like the crust a bit more crispy so next time I’ll ask for it to be cooked a little longer. The guys working there were very friendly and personable! Would recommend!

We’re just passing through and this pizza joint is better than most places in my town, fast friendly service and the foods really good, I’d post pictures but it was that good.

We ordered a full pizza. That was delicious. I dont know how the large slices are but the whole fresh pizza was great. The two young men working were so helpful and very accommodating. They were friendly and very good at their jobs. The restaurant was a little dusty and needed cleaning near the bathrooms, but the great customer service and pizza made up for it. Very reasonable price.

Decided to try this place out and got 3 pizza slices. 2 cheese and 1 macaroni & cheese. Wasn’t the biggest fan of how they had the pizzas out in open with no covering or warm lighting. She got the slices then heated them back up briefly in the oven. The cheese slices were decent, but wasn’t big fan of Mac pizza. The pizza was also really greasy which was not pleasant.. overall decent place to try but I’d order the pizzas fresh and not by slice unless they just came out oven.

Great tasting by the slice pizza and incredible value. I took my wife and three kids here for lunch and I was very surprised with my low total bill. Incredibly cheap price for great tasting pizza. Las Margaritas is a Mexican bistro located in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere with booth seating and colorful artwork adorning the walls. Customers have praised the vibrant ambiance, friendly wait staff, and delicious Mexican cuisine. While some diners noted minor issues with service and language barriers, overall feedback on the food was positive. The menu includes a variety of Mexican dishes and cocktails, making it a popular choice for those looking for an enjoyable dining experience in the area.
Beautiful atmosphere, decorations were matching and gorgeous. Service was very friendly and inviting. Food was top notch, maybe more seasoning options for the meats would be a suggestion. Thank you.

I hate to sound rude but the food was horrible. I ordered a shrimp salad and it came hot and soggy drenched in some type of red sauce when I asked for no sauce it taste like ketchup and had melted cheddar cheese on it. My sister ordered "Carnitas de res" and it was supposed to have steak, but at first the waitress brought out a plate with pulled pork on it then when she brought back what my sister ordered the steak tasted and smelt like it was sitting out for too long before they cooked it😖

My mom & I stopped in for dinner Monday night. A little surprised when perusing the menu online it said....drive thru! Sure enough as we were coming down the road you could tell it was a drive thru!!So the bar wasn't set particularly high but I'm also a big believer in the most unassuming places can prepare some rather delicious meals! We arrived about 5:30 and felt like we had beat the dinner rush as the parking lot was rather empty. Beautiful & colorful art hangs all over the restaurant walls. Colorful beautifully carved chairs awaited us inside. I liked that the restaurant was sort of divided in to thirds....keeps the noise to a minimum. She promptly brought out chips and salsa...when I heard my mom say "mmm warm chips!" What? I've never heard of warm, freshly made chips! Bonus points! We again perused he menu and both opted for number 22 Burrito Supremo under the House Specials. Me w chicken and sans tomatoes, her for ground beef. WHOA! I am not exaggerating when I say I think Lenondro brought out our meals in under five minutes! They were so delicious and neither of us even ate half! Not hat we overindulged in chips and salsa; we still had half a basket left when our food arrived. As we sat and looked over the specials they have some good deals on margaritas and margarita pitchers and some rather interesting options.... a banana margarita? I am quite intrigued and if the everything else I experienced up until this point wasn't already bringing me back in, this drink would! When I went up to pay, our server was standing near the take out window, so I had to walk by the spacious bar. Las Margaritas really covers all the bases for seating/dining options! The menu is expansive with your typical Mexican offerings, then they have standard American options such as burgers, wraps, sandwiches and pastas. We looked over the dessert menu but we knew that wouldn't be happening, never enough room, ha. I feel like Las Margaritas may be a hidden gem. I definitely look forward to my next meal here when I'm in town again. Thanks Las Margaritas for the delicious dinner served by friendly and attentive staff in a comfortable setting! Las Margaritas is a don't miss stop for a meal.

We both ordered the Burrito Supremo, she had carne asada and I had the ground beef. No flavor whatsoever, until I added hot sauce, it was so bland. If you have stomach issues and wanna go somewhere the spice is lacking.....this is your place. The chips are on point!!! Best I've had..,the salsa is amazing as well. Hopefully it was just an off night, but I can promise you I'm not going to spend 50 bucks for me and my wife to find out.

Food was mediocre. My boyfriend had hair in his food which was repulsive and the food was very greasy. Service was fast but our waitress was very rude and seemed to get annoyed for wanting us to take our time when looking at the menu. She kept rushing us. Not a good experience

Showed up early for supper and was greeted with a ton of smiles. The entire staff was extremely friendly. Got the House Platter appetizer which was good. Wife got the Pollo A La Diabla and I got the Burrito Supremo Con Steak. They were both delicious. And I'm sure they will be tomorrow as well as we couldn't finish it all. We will be trying more in the future.

Greatest Mexican restaurant in the area. I admit, my favorite place used to be Senior Villa for the longest time. However, upon my first visit, this is now my fav place. The atmosphere, the artwork on the walls, and the music are sensational! The wait staff are the best! Our waiter was the nicest, most polite guy ever! I love this place! Definitely worth the visit! If you've never been to this restaurant, YOU HAVE TO GO! You won't regret finding this awesome place! Their tamales are the ABSOLUTE BEST I've ever eaten in a restaurant!! I've been to a lot of restaurants all over the U.S. If I could, I'd give 10 stars hands down no doubt!😍😍😍😁

Nestled in the heart of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Marge's On Rose is a delightful breakfast and brunch spot that exudes a warm, homey atmosphere. This charming café offers an inviting experience where guests are greeted with kindness and exceptional service. Whether you're stopping by after a morning stroll from campus or just looking for a cozy place to enjoy your meal, you'll find it here.
On Wednesday morning about 7:30 my mom and I stopped in for breakfast. Small parking lot but big restaurant. I think we could have parked along either side of St James had we not squeezed in to a spot, so parking shouldn't be a problem and shouldn't scare you away if it's full...there is plenty of space inside! We had told Lori twice, to come back...we needed more time w the menu. As my mom and I perused the menu, I was going to just opt for two eggs and toast. My mom asked if I'like to share a bacon omelet and apple fritter french toast? Server Lori assured my mom they were delicious. I obliged For how not busy it was it felt like it took quite a bit for our food to come out. But.....once it did... worth the wait! I unfortunately had no room for my apple fritter french toast, my mom ate hers and exclaimed "this is the first time I've ever had french toast and didn't drown it in syrup.... I didn't even need syrup." Some bites she ate just the french toast, some she dipped the bite in a little syrup. It wasn't loud in Marges; not sure if it's because it wasn't busy or they just have great acoustics, either way, it's appreciated. I don't know what it was about the omelet... the bacon? The oil the eggs were cooked in? I didn't discuss w my mom her thoughts, but I thought there was a bit sweet taste to it! I liked that the tables all had small ads for local businesses! Way to keep it local/small! There was a white board on the wall w the delicious sounding daily Specials and quite a selection of pies! Thanks Marges for a delicious meal served by friendly staff in a welcoming and comfortable setting. Will stop in for lunch next time I'm in town, cheers!

As a Black Man in America, going to places where no one in the room looks like you, can be challenging at times. In this case, everyone was so kind, graceful and just happy to be at a homey spot eating great food. I am here in town for the state track meet and I walked to this breakfast joint all the way from campus and it was totally worth it. The server was phenomenal and made me feel at home. This place has great food, prices, and people. Get here as soon as you can because they close at 3pm.

I truly don’t understand how this place has so many positive reviews. The waitress slide menus on our table and walked away without saying anything. There were only 5 other tables but it still took 45 minutes for 2 pancakes and 1 omelette. The pancakes were flavorless and not fully cooked. The only positive thing about it was the cinnamon roll, but even that took 30 minutes. It wasn’t even warmed up, so it took half an hour to put it on a plate and pour on some frosting?? We watched people who came in after us get their food before us. After reading other reviews, this seems like a common occurrence. The waitress was also watching as my partner was signing the receipt almost to see if he was going to leave a tip. I genuinely don’t um how this place is still in business.

As soon as I got into the restaurant it smelled like a musty basement, I knew that wasn’t a good sign. Got seated and the window was covered in flies, by then I lost my appetite. I ordered steak and eggs anyway and my steak was super rare and tasted like iron and was bland, egg whites weren’t done and were slimy. Hashbrowns only had a few crispy parts. Went to the bathroom and it smelled heavy of urine and there were about 20 flies in there. This place was nasty. I do NOT recommend!!!
