Nestled in a lush 13.5-acre area, Thrissur Zoo & Museum is a historic establishment dating back to 1885. It features a diverse range of animals, birds, and reptiles, including endangered species. The zoo also houses an Art Museum, Botanical Garden, Natural History Museum, and Zoological Museum. Visitors can marvel at tigers, camels, hippos, flamingos, and various bird species while exploring this well-maintained space.
Worth it ..very good place.. well maintained.. clean Good place to go with children.. Worth every Rupee Lots of things to do Zoo, botanical gardens, variety of birds, animals, trees, plants, snakes. After finishing the zoo tour you can visit the museum which is in the premises Which shoes different cultures and shows a lot of historical artifacts. It also has animal remains Worth it do visit
Garison C — Google review
Thrissur Zoo offers a good experience, especially for families and children. It houses a decent variety of wild animals, giving visitors a chance to see many species up close. While the collection is appreciable, it does feel smaller compared to larger zoos in other cities. One area that definitely needs attention is the kids’ play zone. It’s quite small and feels outdated. Renovating and expanding it would greatly enhance the overall experience for families with young children. Overall, it’s a peaceful place to spend a couple of hours, but there’s potential for better upkeep and upgrades to make it even more enjoyable.
Vineetha V — Google review
A peaceful and affordable spot in the heart of Thrissur, this zoo and museum offer a mix of wildlife, history, and nature. Though small, it houses animals, birds, a snake park, and a lovely museum with Kerala’s traditional art and artifacts. Great for families and kids. Needs a bit of modernization, but still worth a short visit.
Ganesan B — Google review
Thrissur Zoo is a decent place to spend a few hours, especially if you’re visiting with kids or have an interest in wildlife. The zoo has a fair variety of animals and birds, and the adjoining natural history museum adds some educational value to the visit. The lush greenery and shaded paths make walking around pleasant. However, some enclosures feel a bit small and could be better maintained. The layout can be confusing for first-time visitors, and a few areas look like they need renovation. It’s not a bad experience overall, but there’s room for improvement in terms of cleanliness and animal care. A good visit if you’re in the area, but not something worth traveling far for.
Iam_Sarath_sk — Google review
Visited the Thrissur Zoo recently and had a pleasant experience. Though not very large, the zoo offers a peaceful environment with a decent variety of animals, birds, and reptiles.  Clean pathways and shaded areas make it a relaxing visit, though some parts could use better signage and upgrades. Overall, a calm and affordable outing for families and nature lovers visiting Thrissur.
Beyona B — Google review
The entrance fee for one person is Rs. 20, and for children, there is nothing to see in this museum except a tiger, a lion, a spotted deer, and a few snakes. I learned that all the animals here have been moved to the largest natural park in Thrissur, which is about to open. Those who want to visit Thrissur should go to the Thrissur National Park. I felt that spending time there was a waste.
Subair H — Google review
The zoo could use some improvement. A few animals appeared unwell and their living conditions seemed inadequate. Overall, it wasn’t a very enjoyable or relaxing visit, so I would suggest considering other options for now.
Sulfikkar N — Google review

Nature & Parks
Nehru Park, also known as Heritage Garden, is an 8.5-acre landscaped park located in the heart of Thrissur. Named after India's first prime minister, it is a popular attraction for both tourists and locals. The park boasts a vast collection of ayurvedic and medicinal plants, making it a serene and educational experience. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of flowers, hedges, statues, an aquarium, and various recreational facilities for children.
Located at the north end of the temple , the place is a heaven for kids. With lots of swings , rides , mud and open area to play , the place attracts a lot a kids and sometimes adults too. Ice cream and chocolate seller can be seen at the exit.
Supreet V — Google review
A large park but some of the area needs proper management. The security guard tries best to ensure there is no plastic dumbing and entering adults into children only items.
Arun — Google review
Good place to spend some time with your children or your beloved partner. Calm and quit atmosphere. There are shops outside the park in which you can buy Peanuts and even toys to your kids.
Advaith A — Google review
Spacious park with big play area for kids. Evening walkers can spend good time here. The park will close by 8pm. Exercise equipments are also fixed inside the park. The dancing fountain is very nice and the kids will really like it. The place is lighted well and the authorities are keeping good care of the park. And surprisingly the park is very clean. Food and snacks are available at the gates outside the park.
Syam S — Google review
Visited Nehru Park in Thrissur recently and found it to be a peaceful and kid-friendly spot right in the heart of the city. The park is quite spacious with well-maintained gardens, walking paths, and a decent play area for children with swings and slides. The highlight is definitely the giant steel elephant sculpture—it’s a great photo spot! There’s also a small aquarium and boating facility, which kids seem to enjoy a lot. The place gets livelier in the evenings, especially with the musical fountain and open-air stage where events are sometimes held. It’s free to enter and open from around 1 PM to 8 PM. The park could use a bit more maintenance in some areas, but overall it’s a nice place to relax or spend time with family. Plenty of snack vendors outside too. Worth a visit if you’re nearby!
SGM — Google review
Nehru park has quite a good number of slides, swings, seesaws etc.. But some slides and seesaws are having damages, rust, parts missing etc.. Beware of a big concrete and mosaic slide, which is not kid-friendly actually. Though, there's a neat lawn area also with a good tree, onto which even children can climb (with elders' supervision) and take photos. We can take good photos in the park. It's rush during weekends especially after 5.30pm. Try to go on weekdays to avoid rush.
Pratibha K — Google review
Average place .. Equipments are quite old and damaged. Still kids will like to visit.. Renovation is in progress with some exciting experience to start..
Hidesh N — Google review
Well-maintained play equipment. Even though the park is for children parents can also enjoy this place... Constant monitoring of officers is there, which is a good thing. Another interesting thing is the overall neatness... As compared to other parks the amount of waste inside the park is very less. Benches are constructed in several parts of the park which can be used for relaxing... In my opinion, this park is not only for children but also for people of all ages. No entry fee is required, the park opens at 1 pm.

Vilangan Hills, also known as Vilangan Kunnu, is a picturesque hilltop park located near Trissur in Kerala. This green hillock offers stunning panoramic views of Thrissur city and the kole wetlands. Originally a common hillock, it was transformed into a scenic picnic spot under the eco-tourism scheme by the State Government of Kerala. The park features 150 mango trees and provides an enchanting allure to visitors.
Oh my goodness. What a beautiful place to visit with breathtaking views and beautiful greenery. The trails make you feel as if you're walking in a jungle. We stopped by a shop there for coffee. The coffee was delicious and the people working there were so nice. This place also has a kids playground which is very nice. It was definitely worth the visit!

Nice experience 😉 But with your loved ones 🤩 I went solo on my way to Thrissur zoo, saw this place and entered here. It's mentioned as a tourist place. But poor maintenance Roads are horrible 😭 This is the place where I've seen couples kissing lively. I was shocked to see 🙈 lots of couples here and there all in hidden spots and in the roadside parking in their cars and lots of couples in uniforms. I wonder 🤔. The atmosphere is peaceful. It's strictly mentioned no plastics or wastes to be thrown. And they will check your bag. You can buy drinking water and snacks items from the inside shop once you enter. If you buy drinking water they'll charge 40/- for 1 litre bottle and will return 20/- on your way back when you show the bottle in the ticket 🎫 counter in order to avoid throwing plastics inside the hills. I won't suggest it for solo travellers like me as it's difficult to find a place to sit calm and peaceful as every 5 minutes new couples keep on entering 😄. The sounds inside are mesmerizing of birds and other 🦋 insects.

“Vilangan Hills, located near Thrissur, is a beautiful and tranquil spot perfect for nature lovers. The hill offers panoramic views of the city and lush surroundings, making it ideal for photography, walks, and relaxation. The area is clean and well maintained, with benches and shaded spots for picnics. It’s a popular place for families and evening visitors, though it can get a bit crowded on weekends. Overall, Vilangan Hills is a refreshing escape from the city’s bustle and a lovely place to unwind.”
Amritha — Google review
Vilangan Hills is a peaceful green spot near Thrissur City, kept cool by the trees even at noon. From the viewpoint, you get a beautiful panoramic view of the paddy fields. There’s also a children’s park and a snack counter. A perfect place for couples or anyone wanting a break from the city’s hustle and bustle. The only drawback is the poor road leading up.
Ajay M — Google review
Calm and quiet place with lots of activities for kids. Have a small coffee shop and juice bar. Ticket charges are there, by comparatively lower. Preferred visiting time is upto 06:00am. Sightseeing tower is available where we can have nice sun set view.

Located 7 km away from Thrissur town, Vilangan Hills is a destination for all ages with its scenic beauty and incredible amusement rides which were popular even before new renovations including a 16D theatre. The herbal plants initiative called Asokavanam is maintained along the trails in collaboration with the State Medicinal Plants Board, The Vilangan Trekkers' Club, and the Asokavana Samiti. The four viewpoints and Selfie Corner are fun apart from Kole fields with the walking trail connecting each of them. The hill has plenty of rides for the little ones, some of them free too except for a nominal fee at the entrance. The new rides can cost slightly more but are enjoyable nevertheless. Vilangan Hills remains a favourite among people of all ages for its trekking trails and rides. Set in the lap of nature
Shahad I — Google review
Not well maintained. Has a children's park and small cafe, a small spot as a view point, but the view is covered by trees and bushes. Another view spot on the west side maybe good for watching sunset. Road to the hill is also a message right now in Nov 2025.

Sobha City Mall is a sprawling shopping complex located in Thrissur, Kerala. Situated along the Guruvayur Road, it has become a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The mall boasts an extensive range of retail stores featuring both national and international brands, making it a go-to spot for all kinds of shoppers. In addition to shopping, visitors can enjoy various entertainment options such as a 6-screen multiplex cinema, restaurants, food court, and gaming arcade.
Modern mall with great variety and comfort Sobha City Mall is a clean, well-maintained, and conveniently located shopping destination. It has a good mix of branded stores, a decent food court, and a multiplex for entertainment. The atmosphere is peaceful and less crowded compared to bigger malls, which makes for a relaxed shopping experience. Parking is well-organized, and the staff are helpful. A great place to shop, eat, and unwind.
Afra A — Google review
The food court offers a great selection of restaurants and snacks, especially for non-veg lovers. There’s also a good movie theatre inside, perfect for weekend entertainment. Ample parking space and helpful staff make the overall experience smooth and stress free.

Sobha City Mall is one of the best malls in Thrissur. Well-designed with a premium feel, it has a great mix of shopping, dining, and entertainment options. The mall is spacious, clean, and well maintained with ample parking facilities. A perfect place to spend time with family and friends – whether it’s shopping, catching a movie, or enjoying food at the restaurants.

Away from City centre, a peaceful place and ambient area for relaxation..the lake view is fantastic in the evening!! Mall is not that big but useful outlets all are there!! Food court is nice and variety of foods available including pure veg and Non veg options!!
Haris . — Google review
After visiting a large number of malls across kerala and the globe, let's just say this is a very very average mall, yes it is very peaceful as Its generally not that crowded, also the shops even though not many, all the ones which are required are there, don't expect any luxurious stores here though, it's a mall made in mind keeping the Indian shopping style and brands , well this is good because the other brands won't really sell and would be there just for show, but yeah if want a peaceful day roaming and having fun, this place is a great choice, the biggest highlight of the mall is the apartment view and the pond at the back side, it looks absolutely stunning especially in monsoon season and is a great place to click some pretty dope pics, the mcd ice cream store is also here and u will get icecreams for super cheap like 30-40 rupees and that along with with view , is one awesome thing. Apart from that the food court is good but not the best, there is also a theatre so no complaints there as well, and yeah as i said, fun mall to roam around, but not a place u should be coming for specifically to visit thrissur, combine it with guruyaur temple then yeah it would be a good 2 day tour. My overall rating 4.2/5.

🛍️ Sobha City Mall, Thrissur — 4/5 ✅ Rating: 4/5 – A Solid Family Destination Sobha City Mall offers a well-rounded experience for shopping, dining, and entertainment. Here’s what stands out: ⸻ 🚗 Parking & Access • Ample parking available—including vertical and multi-level basement facilities for cars and two-wheelers—keeping congestion minimal and visits hassle-free . ⸻ 🛒 Shopping & Eating • A spacious, air‑conditioned layout with a decent mix of branded and local retail outlets, making it ideal for casual shopping . • The food court features popular chains like McDonald’s, Domino’s, Baskin Robbins, Nagas, SFC, plus quaint dessert stalls—clean and well-maintained with options for lakeside seating . ⸻ 🎥 Cinema Experience • Home to a 6‑screen INOX multiplex on the upper floor, the cinema offers comfortable seating and generally clean, well-kept facilities . • Most screens offer surround sound, with only one featuring Dolby Atmos, which may leave audiophiles wanting more—especially given premium ticket pricing . • Some users have mentioned occasional glitches (e.g. unexpected wildlife incidents in earlier years), though such cases are rare . ⸻ 🌿 Ambience & Facilities • The mall feels modern and serene, enhanced by a scenic man‑made lake and outdoor landscape for relaxing strolls . • Staff and security are typically helpful, with good upkeep across common areas . ⸻ ⚠️ Minor Downsides • While parking is plentiful, traffic during peak hours can lead to delays entering the facility . • The food court, though clean and varied, doesn’t equally excel across all outlets; some diners consider it average . • The retail mix is solid, but some big brands and hypermarkets are missing, so it’s not a comprehensive shopping destination like larger malls in Kerala .
Thoufi M — Google review
It is a nice shopping mall to look at, but it is a bit difficult to buy things in the shops here. The reason is that all the things are very expensive. If you drink a cup of tea, it costs 20 rupees. If we were outside, it would cost 10 rupees.
Subair H — Google review
*Disappointing Experience at Shobha City Mall* I visited Shobha City Mall with my family today, August 30, 2025, expecting to enjoy the newly opened game section. We were informed that it would be opening today, and I even confirmed with the mall's service team, who assured me it was open. However, when we arrived, the game section was still under maintenance and not open to the public. It's extremely disappointing to see a mall not meeting its commitments, especially when they've confirmed the opening date multiple times. My family and I were looking forward to spending some quality time together, but it didn't work out as planned. I hope the mall will complete the maintenance work soon and open the game section as promised.

Located in Thrissur, Kerala, Vadakkechira is a historic pond that dates back to the reign of Shakthan Thampuran (1751-1805). This well-preserved landmark was initially constructed for irrigation and drinking purposes. Over time, it has undergone tasteful renovations and now boasts illuminated lights and a stunning fountain. Visitors can enjoy peddle boating with options available for both two and four people.
It has been tastefully remodelled. It's best to go in the evening when the lights and fountain are turned on. Peddle boating is now available for both two and four ppl. There is a snack kiosk inside. With ample seating, this is a great place to spend time with family and friends.

This is a temple pond attatched with the sakthan thampuran museum or palace. It was totally destroyed by the careless approach of devaswam board and government towards vadakechira. And now kalyan group donated their csr fund and developed/ maintained this place so good. Government has no role in the current view of vadakechira. Boating is privided there at minimal cost. Its a quiet place to sit and relax in the evening time.

Sitting on the rocks, watching the gorgeous sunset while listening to music, made my visit to this beach truly unforgettable. It was a wonderful experience. While the beach is already nice, there are plenty of improvements the authorities could make to make it even better.

We visited Snehatheeram Beach around 8:15 PM while on our way to Thrissur. Even at night, the beach felt lively with people walking, talking, and enjoying the calm atmosphere. It was surprisingly neat and well-maintained. We stayed for about an hour and found the place peaceful and relaxing. A good spot to take a break, simple, clean, and worth a short visit!

This beach is very nice but very crowded during weekends.... the washroom is very dirty and not maintained.... too many people on the beach and very difficult to get pictures...... if the washrooms are maintained well people will prefer to visit this place again.... there are people collecting money for washroom but not maintained atall......

Wonderful spot for 1 day trip... parking charges was bit high ₹50 and there is nothing much to see or buy or to eat. I went around 5pm it was very crowded, but we walked few distance and there were no one.. it turned into a private beach. But first time I saw the crabs and snails alive ... Just enjoyed the sunset...
Krrish — Google review
One of the finest sunsets. By the evening, u shall see some sea creatures like turtles, crabs, snails, starfishes moving towards the seashore through its waves. I had seen westerners walking. Newly wed photo shoots were there. Boys playing football on the sand. Kids enjoyed the play sections around. The water is not too good for a bath . It's clumsy and dark. So, i didn't prepare to walk in or dive. (no one did that)... Overall a good experience.

Snehathreeram Beach is a beautiful and serene spot, perfect for those looking to enjoy a peaceful coastal experience. The natural beauty of the beach is truly impressive, with clean shores, gentle waves, and a relaxing atmosphere that makes it ideal for family outings, evening walks, or simply unwinding away from the city. The sunset views here are especially stunning, and the beach generally feels safe and welcoming. It’s less crowded compared to other popular beaches, which adds to its charm. However, there is definitely room for improvement when it comes to tourist facilities. Basic amenities like clean restrooms, changing rooms, proper seating areas, and food stalls are either limited or missing altogether. Better signage, parking arrangements, and waste management would also go a long way in enhancing the overall experience for visitors. With a bit more attention to infrastructure and maintenance, Snehathreeram Beach has the potential to become a top destination for both local and international tourists.

During my visit to Snehatheeram Beach, I had the chance to witness its stunning beauty and I wanted to share my experience. I was fortunate enough to go in the afternoon when the sun was shining brightly, casting a warm and welcoming ambiance.

Kauthuka Park is a scenic and diverse nature reserve located 25 km away from the city center in Thrissur. It boasts of an abundance of wildlife, including birds, fish, and animals, as well as waterfalls and caves that provide picturesque views. This park is a tribute to human persistence evident in the amount of hard work put into its creation. Visitors can appreciate the stunning architecture and natural beauty it offers without being distracted by any individual's experience.
Its a private property. Good place to visit, worth the money(Rs150) given as entry fee. There is a banyan tree growing on the wall of their house with its roots. There are caves, tree houses, many pets, including rabbits, hens, rabbits, fish. Nutmeg trees, different banyan and other trees are there. Those who like nature will love the place also kids. Wash room available is neat and clean. Old things like nannangadi is here. A model of muniyara is made here. Places are there to sit inside the park.
Sinda P — Google review
It's a one of a kind park with no cages shut. All the animals walk freely in the park, except of course the fishes. The trees are also unique with many of them made accessible for easier climbing. All of this was made possible because of one person, Mr. Varkey Veliyath who made all of this in his backyard. None of the birds, chickens, and rabbits seemed to be terrified of humans, which shows the love and care he has poured in. It was good to talk to him as well. Would definitely recommend a short visit.

Kauthuka park is a one of its kind places where you can visit in kerala. This is a miniature wildlife sanctuary where it has preserved culture and animals/birds/fishes It has a tree house which structure is made up of living trees and here, the trees which do actually walk on its own There is mother whom you meet who has adopted children who are other than its own (not talking about the humans 😏) Owner of this park has a big heart, he is so generous that he put extra effort for our group photo to make our experience memorable. His love for nature is commendable, his vision and his experties is quite inspiring Do visit Love from Chattisgarh

We came across Kauthuka Park while traveling from Kochi to Guruvayoor and decided to stop by since we had some time to spare. With no expectations going in, we were pleasantly surprised by the experience — it was well worth the visit! The park is a 1-acre biological wonderland located right behind Mr. Varkey’s home, lovingly maintained by him and his wife. They personally take care of all the animals and plants, and it really shows in how clean, peaceful, and vibrant the place is. It’s a unique spot where you can see a variety of pets, birds, and plants, and get a glimpse into the harmony of nature. We spent about 45 minutes here, and it was a refreshing and heartwarming break in our journey. Highly recommended for families, nature lovers, or anyone passing by!

An excellent venture by a single person! The love of nature and the care of animals and birds can be felt. The atmosphere is so warm and positive ! The location on Google map is 500M away but the sign board will take you to the place; this is to avoid getting rerouted through pocket roads and mud roads(as per the owner).

Chavakkad Beach in Kerala is a serene and unexplored destination with its wide sandy expanse, clear waters, and nearby temples. It's a popular spot for picnickers, honeymooners, and tourists alike. The beach offers stunning sunset views and activities like speed boating. While the beach provides ample parking and a kids' play area, there are opportunities for improvement in hygiene standards at nearby tea shops.
Best of its thrissur beaches is chavakkad to stay in night, and also rooms are available, boating also available, hygiene fish market, cool climate ,and the beach is very clean

Chavakad beach is, like any beach, fascinating giant waves, yes waving you to come near get drenched in the salty water enthusiastically calling you inviting you like a friendly host which very rarely you can resist.. The great grand sea continuously roaring with white hearted foam, the waves humbly bending the face like a young wife blushing.. You can't take it that way always.. at times gets ferocious and swallows whatever coming on its way. Anyway enjoy the sea from a distance safely sitting on the beach. Chavakad beach tells these to you when you go there. Don't miss it. 🙂🙂👍
Vasudevan P — Google review
Serene quiet beautiful beach for evenings and mornings. Water sports activities like speed boat and floating bridge available. Children and adults can take a dip in the sea and play as water is not rough as in other beaches
Muthu S — Google review
One of the crowded beach spots in Thrissur! Weekends and holidays are super busy. 🏖️ Evenings are chill with friends and family. 🎊 There's a small kids' park and paid rides, but the restrooms are paid and often crowded. Parking's a nightmare, even the paid lot! Still, a fun evening out. Hygiene is average. 😔😔 #Beach #Thrissur #Weekend #Family #Fun

Chavakkad Beach in Thrissur is a serene and less-crowded beach, perfect for those who love calm and natural surroundings. The highlight here is the Azhimukham, where the river meets the Arabian Sea, creating a beautiful sight. The golden sands, gentle waves, and long coastline make it ideal for evening walks, relaxing with family, or just enjoying the sunset. Unlike some busy beaches, Chavakkad is peaceful, giving visitors a chance to unwind. You’ll often see fishing boats and local life around, which adds to its charm. The beach area is clean and well-maintained, though food stalls and facilities are limited compared to more commercial beaches — so it’s better to carry water and snacks if you plan to stay long. Overall, Chavakkad Beach is a calm, scenic, and refreshing getaway, especially for sunset lovers and those looking for a quiet beach experience in Kerala.
