Thrissur Zoo offers a good experience, especially for families and children. It houses a decent variety of wild animals, giving visitors a chance to see many species up close. While the collection is appreciable, it does feel smaller compared to larger zoos in other cities. One area that definitely needs attention is the kids’ play zone. It’s quite small and feels outdated. Renovating and expanding it would greatly enhance the overall experience for families with young children. Overall, it’s a peaceful place to spend a couple of hours, but there’s potential for better upkeep and upgrades to make it even more enjoyable.

Visited the Thrissur Zoo recently and had a pleasant experience. Though not very large, the zoo offers a peaceful environment with a decent variety of animals, birds, and reptiles.  Clean pathways and shaded areas make it a relaxing visit, though some parts could use better signage and upgrades. Overall, a calm and affordable outing for families and nature lovers visiting Thrissur.

The entrance fee for one person is Rs. 20, and for children, there is nothing to see in this museum except a tiger, a lion, a spotted deer, and a few snakes. I learned that all the animals here have been moved to the largest natural park in Thrissur, which is about to open. Those who want to visit Thrissur should go to the Thrissur National Park. I felt that spending time there was a waste.

The zoo could use some improvement. A few animals appeared unwell and their living conditions seemed inadequate. Overall, it wasn’t a very enjoyable or relaxing visit, so I would suggest considering other options for now.

Othr days open from 10 to 5pm.variety of dears, fox, hipapotamus, tiger, cheetah, lion, crocodile, snakes, monkeys, birds can be seen.Benches to rest are also available.Food area is also available outside the zoo.parking is available outside. Total hygenic and environment friendly atmosphere is maintained by the staffs. Best spot to visit especially with your kids.

Beautiful grandiose palace! Loved the architecture, beautiful wooden detailing and the floor tiles are so lovely! Few rooms with coins, sculptures, pottery and other found objects that really tells a story of the time. What I loved the most was the down to earth, simple, rich details that tells a story of wealth and prosperity. No gaudy details just simple clean lines of the local materials and architecture style. We visited the palace in July and it was a treat to be in the nallukettu to see the rains fall and after that the balconies upstairs were pleasant because of the slight wind and lush greenery.

Absolutely a jaw dropping experience. If you are with the family and kids. Then you must go early and spend time in each and everything you see than just walking and looking around. The construction is amazing and I still feel that I only saw 10 percent of the whole Palace. There is definitely lots of hidden secrets and secrets doors and passages which is closed to public. You will be shocked to see the items and equipments inside. The artifacts are absolutely stunning and the details in it is amazing. Yes saw a bath tub made of wood. Which means bath tub were used in that time too. This construction is again similar to other Palace made during this time. The kitchen is on the left side when you are facing the Palace. I will say that this is a upscale version of small Palace. But if entirely different from bharahims illem. There is lots of things common. But entirely different construction. Next the Palace there is a garden as well. And its full of different butterflies. Yes there is older version of play items fir kids. Item like slides etc. Now you see the modern version made out of metals. But in this garden you can see those items purly made of sand. Cements etc. Next to the garden there is a big pond as well. I couldn't explore more because it was already closing time. Its a must to visit place in thrissur.

Good place Neatly maintand Historic Some historic antique excavated pieces are there, some of them from other parts of India. In my view, There we can see lot of historical thinks like Coins, tools, swords etc that belongs to Tipu's era or Akbar's era. Onething I must say is, DONT TOUCH anything and Don't even sit in the floor or balcony .. i like the behaviour of staffs and guides there but better to improve little more politeness.

A place well maintained. Very well organised with beautiful garden. Only issue is that even for hybrid camera we have to pay 1500rs which is not worth. Parking is available for very few cars. Recommended place.

(Visited in August 2025) - Our Lady of Dolours Basilica / Puthenpalli is an iconic church in Thrissur. It has the distinciton of being India's tallest Church and Church Tower, and Asia's tallest Church Tower as well as 3rd tallest Church. The Gothic architecture is pristine and it is an imposing building.

The first mistake we made was visiting without finding out much about the place beforehand, so we missed the Bible Tower view. The surroundings are calm and divine, but we couldn’t explore much as we arrived during prayer time and it was already late in the evening.

Finally I would say that it's a Must visit for anyone who wants to feel the soul of Thrissur and Kerala’s heritage.

Most famous temple in thrissur where thrissur pooram is celebrated. We visited there in the evening after 5pm (suggesting you the same). No dress code like traditional dress like mundu and saree in this temple. But men has to remove their shirts while visiting the main deity. After coming out we sat near the temple and watched sunset.

The Presiding Deity: Sree Bhagavathy Some of the salient features of this temple are…. The temple faces west with an entrance mandapam. The temple’s office is the right side. Dwajasthambam (Gold plated – Gold about 10 kgs), balipeedam and a 13 stages deepasthambam/ metal lamp are in front of the temple. Dwarapalakis are on both side walls of the entrance gopuram. In sanctum sanctorum the old idol of the Goddess Paramekkavu Bhagavathy was a wooden idol (daru silpa). A Panchaloka Vigraha was installed latter. Bas-reliefs of Durga, Aman, Arjuna on a Charriot from the epic Mahabharata, Maha Vishnu’s Ananta Sayanam are on the front wall of sanctum sanctorum. In sanctum Bhagavathy is in a sitting posture with right leg folded and left leg is hanging. Sree Bhagavathy is with 8 hands holding various weapons, like Silambu, sickle, Trishul, emathandu, Sword, Snake, kai vattala, etc. Vinayagar, Saptamatrikas, Shiva as Veerabhadra, Nagars, Brahma Rakshasa and Melakavu Bhagavathy (Originally this was the place where animals are sacrificed. After the ban of animal sacrifice, this Mela Bhagavathy temple was constructed) are in this temple. ARCHITECTURE The temple consists of Sree kovil, namaskara mandapam, nalambalam with entrance / exist on the 4 cordinal directions, pradakshinapatha, and thriuchuttambalam. The Sree kovil is rectangular in plan on an adhistanam. The namaskara mandapam is in front of sree Kovil. The temple walls are built with laterite stone plastered with mud and lime. A Kerala style guttur tiled roof pyramidal vimana is on the adhistanam. The Sree kovil walls are with mural paintings.

Probably a very beautiful temple but foreigners are not allowed to step in. It’s said “foreigners” not “non Hindus”. It means that my Sri Lankan Hindu friends could not enter while an Indian even if Christian, Muslim, Sikh, Buddhist or Jain is most welcome to do so. A spectacular event. But light hearted ladies, kids and elders pls avoid. Heavy crowd during the umbrella changes. Chances of suffocation. So prepare yourself for 2 hr of joy, excitement, push n pulls, you have to flow with the crowd. If you have connections you can arrange your spot in the neighborhood buildings.

COULDN'T ENTER DUE TO TRISSUR POORAM HOLIDAY.HEARD THAT THIS IS THE FORMER PALACE OF SRI SAKTHAN THAMPURAM THE EMINENT RULER OF KOCHI.

Had an uncomfortable experience at this archaeological museum. Several individuals — whose roles were unclear — acted in a hostile and pushy manner. They kept pressuring us to move quickly through the exhibits and tried to direct us to areas we weren’t interested in, without explaining why_ mostly female staff members. Their demeanor created an unwelcoming environment. They were just sitting and chatting away, forcing people to move very unprofessional. When we asked for help finding our way or understanding the layout, they were unhelpful and dismissive. This detracted from what could have been an enjoyable and educational visit. I hope the museum addresses this, as it’s important for guests to feel safe and respected while exploring cultural history. Unfortunately the place is a 4star but their demeanor drops it to a 1.

A small but beautiful archeological museum.It was earlier belonged to the Royal family of Kochi. Built by Rama varma shakthan thampuran. The museum displays different royal processions ,artifacts and ancient coins.The adjoining heritage garden is the final resting place for Shakthan Thampuran

It is the tallest church tower in India. One of the major tourist attractions. It is situated very close to Puthenpally. It is situated 2 km away from Thrissur railway station and about 1 km away from Saktan bus stand. Buses are not available to the front of the church you'll have to take a watch or catch an auto. The church tower is so high that you can see the whole of thrissur from above. There are stairs to go up and a lift facility is also available. There is an entry fee of Rs.20 per person, google pay is not available only cash is accepted. The visiting hours are 9.00 am to 6.00 pm with a break time from 1pm to 2 pm. Monday is a holiday. The footwear has to be removed and bags should be placed outside before entering.

A peaceful and inspiring place with beautiful art and architecture. It has detailed carvings and stained glass that tell stories from the Bible. The view from the top is amazing, showing the beauty of Thrissur town.

My Mother's Native Place and I make it a point to go there every year for the annual Pooram festival around March-April which is considered the Mother of all Pooram festivals in Kerala as it has been going on for over a 1000 years. Legend has it that three elephants who arrived late for the pooram were turned away and the upset parties approached the then King Sakthan Thampuran who promised them they he would create a Pooram festival bigger than the Arattupuzha temple and hence the Thrissur Pooram came into being. Also there is another misconception that the presiding deity is Lord Ayyappan which is incorrect. Since the temple is called Sastha Temple it is mistaken for Lord Ayyappan as He is addressed as Dharmashastha too. The presiding deity is actually Sage Vasishta and in an unusual fashion the deity faces west when normally most temples have their deities facing east. I believe this is to indicate how all the Gods and Goddesses pay their tribute by turing eatward to face the westard facing Sashthavu of Arattupuzha. Even during the Pooram several Gods and Goddesses from the temples all around Arattupuzha make their way to the temple during the annual pooram that lasts almost 2 days lead by Sage Vasishta's most beloved disciple, Lord Rama from Thriprayar. One of the most delightful drumming events, the Chenda Melam happens here on two nights and on the early morning of the final day which cannot be missed. The non-stop drumming goes on for 2.5 to 3 hours. On the first day "Tharkayil Pooram" there could be around 150 performers and on the second day "Valiya Pooram" upto 200 or more of them. The performance in the presence of the caprisoned elephansts is a feast for the eyes and the ears. Amma in those days has counted 150 elephants for the final day event that takes place in the early hours of the day. I have counted 63 elephants in the poorams of the 2010's but these days the number has dwindled to 35, yet it is a grand sight. The fireworks on night of the "Tharkayil Pooram" is also a sight to watch. lf you don't have relatives in Arattupuzha the Nilambari resort and Hotel Savera Park are your best places for accommodation and food. By the way there is another Aratupuzha (note spelling change) near Kayamkulam in the district of Alappuzha which is sometimes confused with Arattupuzha of the Thrissur district.

After visiting a large number of malls across kerala and the globe, let's just say this is a very very average mall, yes it is very peaceful as Its generally not that crowded, also the shops even though not many, all the ones which are required are there, don't expect any luxurious stores here though, it's a mall made in mind keeping the Indian shopping style and brands , well this is good because the other brands won't really sell and would be there just for show, but yeah if want a peaceful day roaming and having fun, this place is a great choice, the biggest highlight of the mall is the apartment view and the pond at the back side, it looks absolutely stunning especially in monsoon season and is a great place to click some pretty dope pics, the mcd ice cream store is also here and u will get icecreams for super cheap like 30-40 rupees and that along with with view , is one awesome thing. Apart from that the food court is good but not the best, there is also a theatre so no complaints there as well, and yeah as i said, fun mall to roam around, but not a place u should be coming for specifically to visit thrissur, combine it with guruyaur temple then yeah it would be a good 2 day tour. It is a nice shopping mall to look at, but it is a bit difficult to buy things in the shops here. The reason is that all the things are very expensive. If you drink a cup of tea, it costs 20 rupees. If we were outside, it would cost 10 rupees.

*Disappointing Experience at Shobha City Mall* I visited Shobha City Mall with my family today, August 30, 2025, expecting to enjoy the newly opened game section. We were informed that it would be opening today, and I even confirmed with the mall's service team, who assured me it was open. However, when we arrived, the game section was still under maintenance and not open to the public. It's extremely disappointing to see a mall not meeting its commitments, especially when they've confirmed the opening date multiple times. My family and I were looking forward to spending some quality time together, but it didn't work out as planned. I hope the mall will complete the maintenance work soon and open the game section as promised.

One of the underrated gem of a temple, Peruvanam located at Cherpu in Thrissur. The temple is as bigger as Vadakkunnathan but less crowded, can be the most peaceful temple you ever visited. Temple has got one of the tallest Sreekovil and surrounded by 7 acres of land.

It's a very peaceful temple, so beautiful that you can feel a different vibe as soon as you step into the compound. It holds great historical importance and has similarities to the Vadakkumnathan Temple and the Thriprayar Sree Rama Swamy Temple. Inside, you'll find old sculptures along with ancient wall paintings. Om Namashivaya This temple is very famous erratappan (2 shiv lingas), located at Peruvanam village. Covers 7acres of land with very traditional architecture. Built in 12th century. Best time to visit is in the morning.

Very unique temple, Actually two temples in one enclosed space called naalambalam. Most important, if you are going by car, there is plenty of parking on the west side between Mahadevan temple and Devi temple right by the side of Kodugallur Thriprayar road. Google may not take you here. Another important point is the sequence of darshan. You have to start with main deity Irattayappan that is two Shivlingas, a rare feature again and end at the same place passing through different nadas or deities . The sequence is displayed on the west main entrance. South, Adjascent is the temple of Madathilappan at height in a three floored structure that is a protected monument. You have to climb steep steps to have darshan. The history of this temple is linked with Penance of Sage Puru, possibly name Peruvanam has its roots due to this. A very peaceful and unique temple that one should visit.

Very good spot to hangout in the evening in Thrissur. Inside the park it is maintained very well. The 'Kulam' also has to be maintained very well. Antisocials are dumbing wastes into the pond I believe.

A small park situated behind Thrissur railway station is a great spot for hanging out with friends or family. It offers water activities like boating and kayaking, and also features a gym and a cafeteria.

Behind Thrissur railway station, you go along towards the left. Soon you would come across this beautiful spot. Basically this is a place to relax and enjoy. I saw a few wall paintings here and there. A duckling springed from bottom for kids. Few benches at different areas. Plenty of places to sit. A tea place and a beautiful view. I was here at noon and, was under the shade here. There is a small open gym at the end of the left.

Activities like kayaking are available at cheap rates. 100 rs person for half hour . dual seated for 200 and vise versa. The water source have to make better ( maybe it's because of summer season )

A small hangout place in middle of the city. Water and it's cleanliness is seasonal. I made visit in December, it's full of "common water Hyacinth". Tea/coffee available. Small parking space as well .

The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna (Unnikannan), and the idol is beautifully decorated, radiating divine charm. The darshan was smooth, and the priests were respectful and disciplined. You can genuinely feel the devotion in the air. The temple architecture is pure Kerala style – simple yet elegant, with wooden carvings and sloping tile roofs. What makes this temple unique is its deep involvement in the Thrissur Pooram festival. If you’re interested in Kerala’s cultural traditions, you’ll appreciate the Pooram-related exhibits they keep inside the temple – especially the decorative items and percussion instruments. Cleanliness is excellent, and the premises are well-organized. You’ll find ample space to sit and reflect or just take in the peaceful environment. I also liked that the temple staff were helpful but not intrusive. One highlight was hearing the Chenda Melam practice session in the evening – a bonus that made the visit even more special. Also, the prasadam (poha/aval and chandanam) was simple but soul-satisfying.

This is a neighbourhood temple in Thrissur but quite popular one. This is on the main road in a busy residential area with restricted entry approach. The Sree Krishna here, like Guruvayur, is that of child swarupam. There are other upa devatas - Bhagawati, Ganapathy & Ayyappan as well. This temple is also part of the famous Pooram celebrations.

However, being situated at the center of the city, one major challenge is parking. It’s quite difficult to find a proper space nearby, especially during peak hours or festival days. Overall, despite the parking inconvenience, I feel Thiruvambadi Temple is a must-visit for anyone seeking divine bliss and traditional Kerala temple vibes. A place where devotion truly comes alive.

Temple is super. However Vazhivadu coupons are not treated with respect. You have to pay money and then you are advised to abandon it with the Poojari. You can't even leave it at the Nada in front of the Devan. If you try to keep it in front of the Devan they will shout at you. Bad behavior of staff. Devotees have got to be respected.

Good place They won’t give you dental kit or towels

The building was constructed during British Raj period. Before it was converted to a guest house, it was the residence for Political officers of the United Kingdom. The guest house has 30 rooms in three blocks, and two VIP rooms. Politicians and bureaucrats get more priority in the allocation of rooms. The Government of Kerala is planning to add 40 more rooms by constructing one more block.The Kerala Tourism Department runs the facility. Being a government guest house, it has witnessed many major events in the political history of Kerala.

RooLast time I stayed in room no 212,this time 210, the adjacent room on the 1st floor. Balcony is road facing. Full of greenery & within campus.Rooms are real large. Staff are good but like any other govt employees. No assistance for carrying luggage, water bottle 2,handed over at the time,later on you need to go to dining area, lunch and dinner on prior booking,but not advisable. Good for pleasure stay with less expectations.

The best government guest house in Kerala.The rooms and toilets are large and clean. Even though the furniture are old, they are kept near and clean. The food they serve is only as per their menu system. But it is tasty and homely.

Room is spacious, and has the basic necessities like good washroom, cupboards, furnitures, AC, a living area and a balcony. The food here gives a very homely feel. Sree Maheswara Temple is an old and famous Lord Shiva temple located at Koorkencherry, the busiest and main place of Trichur City. The temple is very clean and neat with spacious ground. Sree Narayana hall is used for wedding and other functions. Thaipooya Maholsavam is the famous festival celebrating every year in the temple. During the festival the temple is beautifully decorated and also with three panthals in front of the temple. The spectacular view of kavadiyattam in the temple for Thaipooyam festival is amazing and wonderful.

The inspiration to build up the temple and consecration behind Sree Narayana Guru was Swamy Bodhananda.Sree Narayana Bhaktha Paripalana Yogam (SNBP) was founded and organised by Swamy Bodhananda in the year of 1913. Besides Shivarathri the main festival of the temple is Thaipooyam Mahotsavam, a seven day long festival dedicated to Lord Subramanian. The temple runs one of the leading library named Sree Narayana Library and Reading Room in front of the temple. The temple has good parking facilities. Koorkenchery Mahadeva Temple is surrounded by Kanimangalam, Chiyyaram, Vadookkara and Kannamkulangara Desoms. Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi and Bodhananda Jayanthi celebrating every year in the temple with various programs. The nearest bus station is Thrissur. Nearest Railway Station is Thrissur and Nearest Airport is Kochi.(40 kilometers).

Referring to the roadside eatery, It seems more reasonable to get masala dosa at a nearby eatery for the price. Among the most awful things I have ever done. After arriving at the hotel, we waited for assistance for a considerable amount of time. A staff member told me there was no menu here when I requested for one. Oh my god. I ordered biriyani, but it's only okay and costs ₹170, so it's not worth it. interior, and overall terrible state of disrepair. Extremely bad management, and the things we bought are unavailable during business hours. Absolutely not advised for anyone travelling to Trissur. Please stay away from this hotel if you are planning a trip to Trissur.

The only plus is its location near Thrissur railway station. Despite a big hoarding claiming it’s air-conditioned, there was no AC inside. Tried the chicken biriyani – it was a letdown. Oily, with sticky rice and overpowering masala

One of the worst experiences in my life. We have reached the hotel and we have waited for 35 minutes for somebody to attend for us. They were not attending the customers and they were having a shortage of staff. Some customers went out and searched for another restaurant because of this delay. Very poor management and the items which we ordered, are not available at the peak time of business. Strictly not recommending for any persons visiting Trissur. Anybody who is visiting Trissur, please avoid this hotel.

This is my first tym ever doing a review. I usually never do this but today I am forced to do it. Two days before I went thrissur for an event and reached this hotel.No water supply for washing hands first of all.but they told there was som problem with tap and I felt ok as they provided alternate water for the same.i reached by 9 am and was sitting in a table next to billing area and sat there for almost 30 min.I was waving calling andno one responded.one of the waiter even though saw me didn't even care to even come near my table.atlast I called uponthe staff at juice section and he told me that there was nothing available except for idiyappam and egg curry.i asked for ghee roast or anyother dosa but but he told me there wasn't any. Atlast out of hunger I order what he told me and after sometimes I was served with dry old appams and oil curry with sauted onions.Even though I wanted to call the staffs but I knew noone would respond.i poured out the oil from the curry and ate much whatever I can have .and tried calling one to order a tea.even though I had my breakfast tea haven't reached and waited for a 10 min again but ended up staying there all alone unattended. A hotel being near to railway station have no washroom facility no food options,no wash facilities and completely disappointing service.I have to tell this is one of the worst hotel one can ever go .go at your own risk I didn't want to give a 1 star but it's the minimum one can give .

Good hotel, but you have to waste lots of time here for getting food. staff and waiters are waste. they are not concidering customer and not taking order.

Biryani is the food I ate. It was good premium tasty food without heavy spice. It has egg, papad, pickle, and salad. The salad was good too. The Biryani price is Rs.170.

Marth Mariam Big Church is the very old and first Christian church in Thrissur city, established in the year 1814 situated in High Road Thrissur . The church belongs to the Marth Mariam Cathedral of the Chaldean Syrian Church of India. The church maintained with beautiful and neat and also with good parking area. Inside the church is very calm and peaceful. A very old and good church in Thrissur.

Established in 18th century the church is an typical example of Syriac cultural model with hanging glass lanterns in rows and two-tiered pulpit.

One of the oldest Churches in Thrissur town. The burial sites of many bishops here are revered here. The main church is adorned with beautiful antique lamps. The parking space is good. The place is always impeccably clean and provides good amenities to the public.

It's only a shopping centre. Cannot call shopping mall. Restaurants and dress sections are good and have nice collections. Super market is a not enough. Children playing area is good

A good shopping mall with ample car parking. Purchased a perfume as well as dress for adult and kids. I felt it's expensive comparing the quality of the dress materials. All age groups dress available with varieties of selection. Specially to mention about the snacks and pastry shop on the top floor. Very tasty pastries and other snacks, unfortunately the staffs and service is just pathetic as they are forgetting the order and we need to remind them again to serve it. A supermarket and a restaurant are also there on the top floor. Ground floor there is a play area for kids.

Kids play area inside the mall is very safe and secure for infants and toddlers. They provided foam floor mats for safety of kids. Parents can complete the purchase by keeping our kids happy during shopping. There is minor charges to be paid for access to this play area, but it worth paying if we compare the facilities and maintenance. PS: we visited this place before the pandemic.

After having visited Shobha Mall and other such places, Mall of Joy is nothing great to write home about. There are some international brands on offer, but most shops are in-house businesses. One upside is that it is almost never crowded and you can shop at your own pace. There is ample parking space and that is another plus point. I would go here to shop only if I am hard pressed for time.

This is the parish church of syro malabar community of the Padavarad, Ollur locality...The parish church provides the facility for prayers and liturgical activities of the community...It is situated at the prime location in the main road connecting Ollur...The church in the name of St. Thomas, the only apostolate of Jesus Christ believed to have visited the Asian region especially to Kerala....The church also houses the burial ground for the dead parishners...It is under the Thrissur Archdiocese...!!!

Very poor service delivery from death birth marriage department . Staffs provide very poor service, they don't value other people's time, they talk amongst themselves and smile all the time and use their mobile phones constantly. Customer approach will change their face like as they don't want to. There does not seem to be proper management in this office. It is like they want to ignore and avoid people . They think they are on KUDUMBHASHREE meeting .

The thrissur Municipal office is situated between round and sakthan stand. This building is a good example of government offices and look like a church model. Many certificates and good approach here. In a corporation area people's are get well services here. The implementations are fast.

Very old office in Thrissur. Could be made more user-friendly and efficient by using automated systems and cloud data storage to avoid the old clusters of files which are disintegrating on the ancient shelves. Nonetheless we have to depend on this office solely for any corporation related processings.

This temple is located in Krishnapuram, near Ollukkara. Temple inside and surrounding areas are very neat and calm and quiet. There is big open space for car parking. Thiruvanikkavu Bhagavathy is main Diety, Aldo Lord Ganapathy shrine is there. There is a big elephant next to the open ground within a compound wall area. During festive season and in evening when there is music you can see thus elephant enjoying the rhythm and stepping.

Best temple. They are maintained the temple very well. The festival is 'Bharani' in the malayalam month of 'Kumbam'. The Godess is known as powerful. Quite, calm and peaceful atmosphere. Just 5 kilometres from Thrissur town and near NH 17.

Cool place to spend evenings lot off shops and also the theekikadu maidan ath the centre of round is a chilling place for friends and family and also there is a park also in the centre of round as well.

Road quality is above average. No lane markings. Police should ensure that and place hefty fines (via cctv) for motorist making erratic lane changes...most notorious being public buses. 🙋
