Park
Nestled in the heart of Decatur, Toy Park is a delightful haven for children aged 0-10, offering an array of toys like dump trucks and play cars alongside traditional playground equipment. This community-driven park features toys generously donated by local families, creating a playful atmosphere where kids can enjoy themselves without any cost. While some toys may show signs of wear and tear, this only adds to the charm and excitement!
My great-granddaughter Novah absolute loves this park. We have a smaller park near the house but she always declares that she wants to go to the "big park. It's way more fun!" She loves going on all the things there. We spend hours there. Like that they keep it up so the children can enjoy it.
Yáminah G — Google review
Decatur Toy Park is such a gem! It’s the perfect spot for kids to run, climb, and explore with so many fun and creative play structures. The space feels safe, welcoming, and filled with laughter every time we visit. Parents can relax while the kids burn energy and make new friends. It’s also so nice to have a free and community-focused place like this in the heart of Decatur. We’re so grateful for this park—it’s truly a favorite for our family!
Diana T — Google review
We love this park! My toddler regularly asks to go play here and I love that there are so many different toys to play with (that I don’t have to buy or keep at my home).
Zohra B — Google review
My kids loved it!!! It was something for all of them to explore! My 10 year old found a pogo stick and was enjoying that. A lot of area for sitting, plenty of shade. Only thing is it doesn’t have a bathroom area so we left because Mommy had to go potty but about that time the littles were all played out.
Selah's G — Google review
A really fun playground with lots of toy cars the kids can ride. There’s scooters and bicycles as well. Nice seating area and benches for the parents. Loved being here!
Arteida M — Google review
Honestly, we really liked it! The concept is great and there are endless toys/cars to play with in addition to the playground. My only complaint is that a lot of the stuff was broken or damaged. That's gonna happen, of course, I just wonder how regularly these items are removed.
Lauren R — Google review
Park has variety of toys through out the park. Some pieces are broken but overall hear experience for kiddos and parents.
Tyliyah J — Google review
Nestle in downtown Decatur... This is a nice little gem of a park!!! Has shade and sun, mostly shade at the right times of day, has donated toys. If your little youngster($) like to get out and get into it😹😉 this might be a park for them!!! Parking is shaded too!!!

Nestled in the heart of Decatur, Decatur Square is a charming location with a small-town feel despite its urban surroundings. The square features niche shops, restaurants, an open pavilion, mural, old buildings and gazebo that provide unique backdrops for visitors. It's conveniently located near the Decatur MARTA stop and offers entertainment at the gazebo or opportunities to relax sidewalk-side with a drink.
There are plenty of eateries, shops, and other businesses in the area. It's a nice place for families to spend time together and relax. The area has changed a lot over the years. It now has paid parking with limited time. I think that makes visiting the area a little challenging. But overall, it is a nice and accommodating place.
Catherine A — Google review
Nice space between a lot of restaurants and stores. Clean area, with gazebos for entertainment to play potentially. Artificial turf, near lots of large trees. Unfortunately, there are only portable potties unless you buy something in the local restaurants. Located centrally to a Marta stop.
CMB C — Google review
I visited during construction, so I did not get to see it in full glory. They will be adding permanent bathrooms. Currently there are homeless people around and the construction causes congestion.
Kaylin M — Google review
Really enjoyed the Decatur Brew Fest held at the Square in May 2025.
Gary O — Google review
Omg we had a wonderful time at the Decatur Wine festival. We dance, sing, and taste all types of wine. I laugh so much, I cried. Lol. It could have been the wine.. 🤣😂😁 The square was nice and clean. We enjoyed every minute of the festival.
Pamela C — Google review
It is always a pleasure to spend some leisurely time with family here. My three years old grand daughter loves to run around in this well maintained square. There are plenty of restaurants around and at least two wonderful ice cream parlors nearby.
Arun G — Google review
A neat space though like so many areas near MARTA stations, there's a population of residentially-challenged folks. They didn't disturb us as we passed through and we didn't disturb them. So many different restaurants and bar spaces and generally cool shopping spots. We had a good time!
Bruce K — Google review
Very nice park with an awesome community garden and historic info. Plenty of seating, tables with umbrellas for eating or resting. A lot of shops. A pleasant surprise to run into and enjoy. The only down side is the homeless hang around and while that does not bother me what so ever and do not bother anyone the trash that is left behind is crazy. Its obvious that its not tourists or visitors trash bc its mainly books and clothes, clothing irons, dirty clothes, and rando trash left in heaping piles. A side from that one thing a pretty neat place.

Garden
Woodlands Garden is a 7-acre urban green space in Decatur, offering self-guided tours, walking trails, and gardens with native plants. The garden is open every day and provides a serene environment for picnics and exploration. On Sundays in the spring, summer, and fall, visitors can enjoy live music in the screened pavilion from 2 to 4 pm.
Beautiful garden. Very well maintained. Lots of shade. Bring bug repellent with you. It's free but I encourage a donation.
Aaron B — Google review
Really enjoyed the shady, beginner-friendly walking trail. The Fairies in the Garden event going on for October was precious and made our walk extra magical. Don’t miss the live music in the pavilion going on during the weekends.
A C — Google review
Huge discovery today, went to hear live music free in the Garden Pavilion at the Woodlands Garden in Decatur. This is Seven acres of donated woodlands 20+ years ago by Chet and Gene Morse. Located on the corner of Scott Boulevard and Clairemont Avenue, a true delight. Many Champion Trees and the largest Bigleaf Magnolia I’ve ever seen. If you have company in town and want a nice, pleasant, ADA friendly walk, I highly recommend this garden. Free parking and free admission. NOTE: this is a dog free park so leave your pup at home. A true secret gem in Decatur/Atlanta area. If you want a beautiful drive back to Marietta or 75/85, take Scott Blvd. west which turns into Ponce de Leon Avenue. This is a four laned road that shows you some of the most beautiful homes in Decatur/Atlanta. Volunteer opportunities on Wednesday mornings 9 a.m.

Wonderful wooded setting of native Piedmont flora. Music In The Garden features talented local musicians in the spring and summer.
Uncle D — Google review
Beautiful place, even though many plants haven't bloomed yet still was a good day at the garden.
Natalie S — Google review
Beautiful, serene, and full of native plants, keystone species, and Champion trees of several varieties.
Jamie D — Google review
Absolute lovely and pristine place to go for a stroll and enjoy peaceful scenery, beautiful birds, and flowers.
Mary M — Google review
Decatur’s Woodlands Garden comprise a 3.2-hectare public park that is a key urban sanctuary for the residents of the city. The largely wooded land contains more than 30 species of tree and a wide range of plants native to the region. The brainchild of Chet and Gene Morse, the area where the park stands was donated to the city in the early 2000s to ensure its permanent protection from construction. Their forethought in giving their gardens to the public ensure there is a place for plants from the Georgia Piedmont biosphere at the very heart of the city.

The Decatur Ghost Tour is an unforgettable experience that immerses you in the supernatural. Led by the talented medium Boo, participants have the unique opportunity to connect with spirits and engage in meaningful conversations with those who have passed on. The tour is not just about storytelling; it’s interactive, allowing guests to use dowsing rods in a cemetery setting, enhancing the thrill of ghostly encounters. Many attendees rave about Boo's captivating energy and knowledge, which brings history alive while keeping everyone entertained.
The Decatur Ghost Tour was absolutely incredible! Boo was fantastic – her knowledge, energy, and storytelling truly brought the history to life, keeping us fully engaged and entertained throughout. One of the highlights was getting to use dowsing rods in the cemetery, which made the experience even more interactive. Beth was also amazing and so likeable. I picked up a signed copy of Boo's book at the end of the tour, and I’m already binge reading it – it's hard to put down! This definitely won’t be the last time I take this tour. Boo and Beth went above and beyond, even walking us back to our parking spots to ensure we got back safely. If you’re on the fence about going, don’t hesitate – I highly recommend it!
Selina — Google review
An entertaining and spooky way to explore the historic streets of Decatur. The guides are engaging storytellers, and the tour offers a unique perspective on the city’s haunted past.
Tim L — Google review
This is one of the worst ghost tours I’ve ever gone on. The way she spoke was not only fake and boring, but not at all enticing in any way. We spent 200 dollars and there were NO ONLINE ORDERING, “Cash only” she says. We used dousing rods and you could clearly see her moving the rods towards each other. While using the dousing rods, she (first try) guesses the ghosts name, “is it Charlie, yes” she says. That’s strange, out of billions of billions names, she guesses a random ghosts name FIRST TRY. She speaks crazy nonsense as we walk up to a RANDOM STRANGERS HOUSE. While walking to the cemetery, she says to me and my friend “start walking slow, and I’m gonna walk up and pretend the gate closed”, stupid terrible prank, didn’t spook a single person, absolutely wack. Like I said before, she was so very boring, and every picture she showed seemed to have been already taken, or altered in some way. She says (without turning around at all or looking) “Jimmy came out early” and some girls put their hands out to feel “Jimmy”, NOT A SINGLE PERSON SAYS THEY FEEL ANYTHING. This tour was terrible, and should be taken off the internet indefinitely. 0/10 score.

I went to Decatur Ghost Tour last night and it was everything ! My first time going (which was also my very first ghost tour in life)was back in 2011,I then moved to Miami then moved back to Atlanta during Covid .Amongst the years in between I have traveled to other places to experience their ghost tours and all I could think about was how Decatur Ghost was still my favorite and how I had to go again ! Well, here I am ! 13yrs later ! Boo really knows here stuff, gave us so much intriguing history and insight to how ghosts operate and is really in tune with “The other side” she let us know which ghosts were around and where they were standing…We even got to physically feel the difference between the hot and cold spots around them.We also used dowsing rods in the graveyard and let me tell you …The ghosts were reallllyyyy active last night and answered so many questions for me that I was able to peace together some of their life stories! And I suggest taking a lot of pictures ,you never know what you’re gonna get! Last but not least, Boo tuned into my life a little while walking on the ghost tour and told me things about myself that she wouldn’t have known about me unless she was tuned in to her abilities and to the other side because I never said it to anyone.I suggest you all get a reading with her because she is a real deal Medium/Psychic ! Also I am thankful for Beth as well(I believe that is her name) She is just the sweetest and a great person for Boo to have in her life ! Many blessings to them both !
Soma R — Google review
This was such a great tour! We had such fun, it was a lovely way to spend the evening. We had an early in the square and walked it off with this awesome tour. The two guides were incredibly nice. There was a great mix of history and macabre. Highly recommend!
Karina G — Google review
This ghost tour was INCREDIBLE. The tour guide, Boo, is a very talented medium. She showed us dozens of spirits and facilitated communication between those spirits and the patrons. I saw, heard, and physically FELT multiple ghosts along the tour. I had fascinating conversations with people who have passed over. Boo also helped my partner to contact a lost loved one and get some long-awaited peace and closure. As a psychic myself it was wonderful to get tips from a professional. Thank you Boo and Decatur Ghost Tours!
Devon R — Google review
If you enjoy ghost tours, this one you must go on. Boo does a great job with storytelling. Be sure to take a lot of pictures. I got a few good pics while on the tour. Definitely worth it!

A must do activity if you're ever in the Decatur, GA area! Boo is an excellent tour guide and a genuinely sweet person who makes you feel welcomed. We have been on her tour several times and each time is a different but amazing experience provided by Boo's medium abilities. Thanks again Boo!

Hamburger restaurant
Farm Burger Decatur is a casual-chic eatery with counter service, offering grass-fed beef burgers, fries, veggie options, beer and wine. The restaurant prides itself on being a farm-to-table burger joint that focuses on sustainable and humane business practices by partnering with local farmers and ranchers for the best quality ingredients. Their chef-driven menu is seasonal and includes offerings from local farms to ensure guests are getting the best possible ingredients.
A buddy and I decided to hit up Farm Burger for a much-needed break, and it did not disappoint !!! Justice, the guy who took our order, was super friendly and really patient with us. He went through the menu in detail and even came back a few times to check on us after bringing our food. They burgers were fresh, juicy, and tasty!!! The fries were loaded with parmesan cheese and were hot. Loki came to our table several times to check on us as well and was extremely nice. Loki was great too; she noticed little things, like my friend needing a top for his soup to take home. The whole team was just fantastic. This place is definitely my go-to for burgers!
Alexandria F — Google review
The salad and patty were delicious. You can taste everything, it wasn't drenched in dressing. It paired great with the hibiscus drink. Definitely worth a visit.🍔❤️

Listen! Vegan/vegetarian friends! You need to try the housemade vegan burger!! It is amazing 👏🏼!! Everything about it was delicious 😋! I am 50 minutes away and I can't wait until my next visit! Plenty of parking for patrons. The bathrooms are clean as well! The whole vibe here is welcoming! My hubs and daughter both got the chicken burger (#4) and both said it was so good and juicy 🤤! Pictured is the vegan burger!

My last visit was not good experience which was reflected in my review. The owner reached out to me via email requesting that I return to try again. He was very professional and friendly. I went back and this time it was excellent! I had a double cheeseburger with a fried egg and grilled onions. The burger was fresh, cooked to my request and juicy! The fries are always good! Thanks to the owner, because excellent customer service nowadays is very hard to get but it means a lot and goes a long way. I highly recommend Farm Burger. True rating - 8.5 out of 10!
Nafis Z — Google review
I’ve ordered Uber Eats from this Farm Burger many times and it’s usually on point, but this one was disgustingly bad. Stale bun, nasty chicken with the wrong toppings, 4 day old fries with random green things in them. Gross. Threw it in the garbage post haste and went to pickup Grindhouse. Get it together.
Brian M — Google review
It was my first time trying it, and the food was pretty good. I just wish the caramalized onions were cut thinner on the burger, and the other burger had so much arugula on it. I love the house cut fries, and the shake was delicious. I would check this place out again.
Alexa M — Google review
Tried this spot after seeing great reviews, but we were kinda disappointed. Service was fast and friendly. The place is pretty cool but we thought the food was a little overrated. The Farm Burger was bland, and the bun wasn’t even warm. The double burger was over-charred, though the bacon added a nice smokey flavor. The onion rings were the best part and I’m usually not a fan of onions rings.
Tonia I — Google review
I got a number 1 farm burger with onion rings and a vanilla shake.Next time I might make my own burger.Food was good last time the chocolate shake is delicious. The food is delicious.I ordered through Uber Eats.

Butter & Cream is a charming ice cream parlor that offers a mix of classic American flavors and inventive creations, all crafted in-house with the finest ingredients. The menu includes beloved favorites as well as seasonal selections, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy. Visitors can also explore unique treats at nearby establishments like Greenes Fine Foods and Rocket Fizz. Upon entering, guests are greeted by the delightful aroma of freshly made waffles, adding to the inviting atmosphere.
My goddaughter and I visited here on our Sundays date. She really enjoyed her ice cream and the experience. We normally go to Jenni’s but when I’m walking in the area, I passed this place and loved their reviews so I asked her if we could give them a try. She said, she likes Butter & Cream better and she cannot wait to go back. The staff were okay. They could work on being a little more friendly and as some smiles but overall, great experience and we will return. She dug into her ice cream and I forgot to get pictures before she was almost done 😩. Highly recommend!
Shar D — Google review
Amazing ice cream - Amazing staff! Love the atmosphere with the ice cream scoop decorations. We got the seasonal flavors Butterscotch Brownie and Cherry Pie and both were absolutely DELICIOUS. We also loved seeing how many other local small businesses they work with to make their ice cream! This is a must-stop if you're in the Decatur area. The only downside is the parking situation in the area.
Shannon S — Google review
This is my favorite ice cream spot. Please bring back the cashew ice cream!! 🥺 They have this cashew nut flavored ice cream that I enjoyed so much. It was nothing short of unique - I’ve never tasted anything like it. Unfortunately each time I go they don’t have it and I’m afraid it might not come back on the menu. Nevertheless they have lots of other unique flavors to try!
Melisa C — Google review
Delicious Ice Cream in a Perfect Spot! Stopped by this fantastic ice cream shop in downtown Decatur, and I’m so glad I did! The location is super convenient — right next to MARTA — making it a great stop whether you’re exploring the area or just passing through. The flavors here are top-notch. I highly recommend the strawberry — it’s not overly sweet and tastes just like fresh, real fruit. Their coffee flavor is another standout — smooth, rich, and incredibly satisfying. You can really tell they put care into their ingredients. Friendly service, cozy vibe, and delicious ice cream — what more could you ask for? I’ll definitely be coming back!
Vahid S — Google review
We stopped in for some ice cream while visiting my brother in law in the area. Cute shop with a nice variety of flavors, with plenty of vegan options as well. However we thought the portion to prices ratio was a little pricier than what we’re used to in CT, and while it was good, I thought there definitely could’ve been more toppings mixed in. The waffle cone was also stale. It satisfied our craving but I think I still prefer Jeni’s.
Food C — Google review
Holy (dairy-free) cow. I think I could happily swim in a pool full of their Dark Chocolate Sorbet, the richest dairy-free “ice cream” I’ve ever had. Vanilla Sorbet tastes decently sweet - without much vanilla bean, per se - but is also impressively creamy for a dairy-free option. The OG Goodness (Brown Sugar Ice Cream with Butter Cake) is so nicely sweet and paired perfectly with the bitterness of the Dark Chocolate Sorbet. Serving cups are densely packed as well, though the prices are sky-high. Still, a fantastic option for a late-night treat!
Shreya R — Google review
Delicious ice cream with unique flavors such as dark chocolate sorbet, cantaloupe sorbet and midnight snacks (cheesecake base with chocolate chip cookie dough and brownie chunks). It's great that they have a kiddie scoop option, which is just enough if you want a taste but not too much (or perfect for kids!). The midnight snacks was excellent, with just the right amount of mix-ins.

They offer various dining options including limited capacity dine-in, takeout, and delivery through popular platforms such as Doordash, UberEats, and Postmates. The restaurant has a welcoming family-oriented ambiance with generous portions of delicious food made from authentic recipes.
Great neighborhood restaurant. We stopped by for lunch. Food was fabulous and plentiful. Nice Greek atmosphere in this larger than expected restaurant. My wife had a mini mushroom pizza and I had the Chicken Tetrazini. We both got a fresh lunch side salad. Service was excellent. Leave some room for a great dessert!!!

Had the privilege of trying Athens pizza for the first time last week when some co workers brought several boxes of their Pepperoni, Cheese and Athens special in celebration of Lab week at the hospital where I work. The Athens special stood out for me with the feta cheese, sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions and pepper toppings all on each individual slice! I was quite impressed which compelled me to make this review to say a job well done on their part.

Love this restaurant! A gem in a field of ordinary stones! Take time to check out this authentic Greek restaurant. It’s a large facility that’s well-staffed. The pizza is out of this world and other menu items had generous portions! Can’t wait for one of the delicious desserts!

We came in about 20 minutes prior to closing, but received excellent service. The food came out fresh from the oven and was delicious! They have more than pizza, and nightly specials. We got the garlic bread with cheese appetizer expecting small pieces of bread. Nope! Unless you eat a lot, this is good appetizer for 4-6 people and it had a gracious amount of cheese. The pizzas were delicious!

Got delivery . It was Hot abs fresh but the salad was ridiculously small with not many extras just lettuce ans the calzone was weird they put sauce inside it. I asked for extra sauce and they put it inside. Also the breadsticks had some type Of meat on it? Ew .

Donut shop
Revolution Doughnuts & Coffee is a charming shop that offers an array of creative donut flavors, such as vanilla bean, carrot cake, and caramel-bacon. The small but promising donut joint in Decatur prides itself on serving farm-to-table, hand-crafted donuts made from organic ingredients. Owner Maria Moore Riggs was inspired to create organically-made donuts during her time at a California resort where they sourced ingredients from organic gardens and farms.
With a nearly full-vegan selection, this place not only excels in providing stellar baked goods but further exceeds the competition. The Classic Glazed is a monstrous, shiny donut emulating the exquisite taste of a high-quality glazed donut yet further outdoing other yeast-based donuts with its unbelievably pillowy feel. Having this felt like eating a lightly maple-flavored cloud, all while not having to pay an arm and a leg for it! This is 100% a must-visit place!
Shreya R — Google review
Revolution Donuts came highly recommended and maybe we bought too much into the hype. The donuts were ok, but definitely didn’t live up to the hype. My hats off to their ability to generate buzz, but just didn’t meet our expectations.
Jim B — Google review
This has been my favorite doughnut spot in Atlanta since I was in High School. My personal favorites are the strawberry or peach sliders (spring/summer menu) and the raspberry sprinkle (year round). I’m currently a fan of their seasonal drinks. I got the strawberry matcha and it was nothing short of delicious. They offer vegan and gluten free options. This is a first come first serve bases. So getting here early is essential to getting what you want. Especially the weekends. Staff are great. Plenty of seating and parking during off hours.
Emma W — Google review
The peacg matcha was amazing, so was the peach latte. The doughnuts were very light and delicious and they had savory options for non sweet people. They also had other flours used, and milks.

Awesome place to go to and get some luxurious donuts! Store has a nice ambiance, but I'm usually an in and out type of person. I love these donuts though, and they have many options. The original and the cinnamon are my go to favorites, as well as the mango coconut! Would definitely recommend people to try once.

I enjoyed THE BEST lavender matcha latte I've ever tasted along with a delicious vegan donut (I'm not vegan and I loved it!). Along with the food, I appreciated the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. I'll definitely return. Maybe next time I'll bring my boys 😁 (note: I did bring home treats for them to enjoy 😉)

I’m ashamed to say how many Revolution donuts I’ve consumed over the years - at least one a week for the last 4 years, you do the math. We love the donuts, the casual neighborhood feel of the shop, the manager Mr. Todd, and specifically the blueberry and gingerbread old fashioned donuts. Know that they change their menu monthly and are closed on Mondays, so plan in advance to ensure you get to try all of their delicious limited flavors!

First time at this donut shop. My father recommended I try it as he met the owner at a food photography workshop in Vermont. Donuts were good and plenty of unique flavors! Had the birthday cake, gingerbread old fashioned, and tangerine pistachio donut. I'd come for another visit!

Specialty Museums
The Waffle House Museum, located in Avondale Estates, is the site of the very first Waffle House that opened in 1955. It now stands as a museum where visitors can take tours led by Waffle House employees. The tour includes a look at the original restaurant and memorabilia from that era, such as menus, dishware, silverware, and uniforms. On certain days, visitors can even enjoy free waffles during the tour.
The Official Waffle House museum is phenomenal and an awesome piece of American history! I encourage everyone to visit and learn about the huge role Waffle House has played in the development of America as we know it today. Awesome, awesome, awesome!
Chef G — Google review
Over the years, I’ve asked Waffle House customers if they know there’s a dishwashing sink located right in the middle of the restaurant—between the grill and the guest. Almost none of them do. Let that sink in. That’s how cognitively dissonant the entire Waffle House system is. The dishwashing system—central to hygiene, labor, and flow—is completely unacknowledged in their training manuals. It doesn’t exist in the “10 Steps of Service.” It’s not part of the designed flow of labor. It’s just... there. Loud. Wet. Central. And invisible. This isn’t just a logistical flaw. It’s a culture-wide blind spot. And that’s what Waffle House has normalized: the erasure of labor, the denial of reality, and the expectation that both staff and guests pretend nothing is wrong. I’m not angry. I’m awake. And this system desperately needs someone who is.
SOUL W — Google review
I wouldn’t make special plans to go here… but if you just so happen to be in the neighborhood and it happens to be open… then I would go. It takes a matter of minutes to go through the museum. The museum staff members are extremely friendly and welcoming. It is also a great place if you want Waffle House merch… yes there is a population of people that want Waffle House merch… my son happens to be one of them🤪… he walked away with a Waffle House t-shirt. Entrance is free!

They are open to the public without appointment quarterly. There is an additional meuseum next door with merch availible for sale.

We had an outstanding visit to the Waffle House Museum. We were lucky enough to be in Atlanta on one of the 4 days a year when the museum was having an open house. Original restaurant is restored and next door is small museum featuring the history of the iconic institution. Great for pictures. Visitors were clearly enjoying themselves, reliving their experiences at the restaurant. Staff were super friendly and were clearly proud of their history. Highly recommend this if you get a chance.
David C — Google review
This site of the 1st ever Waffle House is a great place to entertain the family on the cheap. Go during their free weekends and get waffles and bottles of Cokes...for free! A nice piece of Georgia history and a must for any Waffle House fan, but be aware, this is NOT an actual restaurant, so don't go looking for food on a non-open house weekend. My kid loved playing the available games with the other children and that iconic paper hat...couldn't get it off him!
Benita D — Google review
Happy 70th Anniversary! This museum is wonderful. I love that you all showcase the history.
Rachel C — Google review
This is where it began. The very first Waffle House and it's now the Waffle House Museum. I've been to a hundred Waffle House restaurants, as far north as Scranton PA and as far west as Oklahoma City and 27 of them just in North Carolina. The marker reads, "At this location, on Labor Day 1955, Avondale Estates neighbors Joe Rogers, Sr., and Tom Forkner founded the first Waffle House restaurant. The name was inspired by the most popular item on the original menu. The restaurant's focus on fast-food speed and round-the-clock service reflected mid-century societal shifts toward an automobile culture. As suburbs and the interstate highway system developed throughout the region and the nation, Waffle House grew to include over 1,600 locations nationwide, becoming an American cultural icon open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In 2004 Waffle House reacquired the original restaurant building and opened it as a museum in 2008." This is marker number 44-2 and it was erected in 2012 by the Georgia Historical Society, the Waffle House, the City of Avondale Estates, and the Avondale Estates Downtown Development Authority. At the moment, the museum is closed for remodeling. I look forward to returning and having a proper tour. Until then, "Chunked and covered, please."

Suburban Plaza Shopping Center is a vibrant hub that offers a delightful mix of shopping and dining experiences. Nestled conveniently for both locals and visitors, it features an array of stores, including popular retailers like Walmart and Ross, where you can find everything from clothing to home goods. The plaza also boasts a variety of eateries, perfect for grabbing a bite after shopping. Whether you're in the mood for pizza or craving something unique from local restaurants, Suburban Plaza has got you covered with its diverse menu options.
Decent directory of shops. Clean parking lot. Ample space. There's food available. A few doctor's offices. The Comet Pub & Lanes is attached to it. I shop there. I Dash over there. No complaints.
Flame G — Google review
Nasty facility, rude employees: When they close the doors at night, there is no cleaning crew. When they open the next morning, the previous night's filth is still there. Some (not all) of the trainers are hostile to customers that are not paying extra for training services. There is no proactive maintenance done on the equipment or facilities in general, so the machines are often broken and the building is rundown and shabby. The facility is too small to support the ever growing population of the Decatur area, so the gym is often very crowded. Security in the parking lot is non-existent. Update six months later: (not sure why google identifies this post as the shopping center and not the gym) A number of the staff have changed which has been nice, but the facility is still gross in the morning. Still lots of broken equipment. And more and more crowded by the day. Adding more photos. Jan 2023 update: This gym is still gross, and this morning no one is here to open the doors. Feb 2023: Since the first of the year there have been at least 5 mornings the gym opened up very late.

Ample parking and a nice selection of stores at this shopping center make it a “one stop shop” kinda plaza. Shoot, you can even go bowling there! Still grieving the loss of Joann and wondering what store will go in its place.

The Ross at Suburban was ok. The store was full of customers and of course short staffed. But overall the cashiers and manager was very nice and pleasant. Would definitely return to this location to shop

I have used several pharmacies over the years: Walgreens, Kroger's, CVS, and Centerwell online. None of them provides the care and attention that we received from Mary Nguyen, the pharmacist at Suburban Plaza in Decatur, GA. We had to take several travel inoculations, and she was tremendous in assisting us. She was very pleasant, and we loved her sense of humor.

Park
Oakhurst Dog Park, situated next to the Boys & Girls Club in Decatur, is a top spot for dog owners seeking a place for their furry friends to socialize and enjoy the outdoors. The park features a large open field where dogs can roam freely, as well as an area with ample tree coverage and mini trails. It's important to note that the main field may get muddy during or after rain due to its location on a flood plain.
Big beautiful dog park! Well maintained. All of the dog owners are relatively proactive when their dogs are greeting and interacting with each other. There’s a dirt loop trail at the top of the park that’s a nice walk. Although there were lots of dogs at the park it still felt spacious!
Aly R — Google review
Absolute heaven for dogs! Lots of space to run and play. Plastic kiddie pool for the dogs to cool off in and plenty of water bowls & a source of fresh water for them. The park has a terrific trail through the woods for people & dogs to walk in the shade all within the fenced area of the dog park so it's safe for them. Dog waste bags & trash cans provided; seems dog owners do a really good job of picking up after their dogs. Makes it better for everyone. Can't say enough about this dog park- it is amazing!

We just moved here from Durham, NC. This dog park is an absolute treasure. Plenty of shade, “pools for the pups”, water bowls, and the hoomans ain’t so bad either. Do yourself and your pup a favor and make this a must visit. An excellent way to ensure your puppers chill-out at home. Irene D
Irene D — Google review
It’s a nice big place but honestly most dogs I don’t think are vaccinated or fully trained. Everytime I’ve gone my dog has been attacked. Last time I went some lady’s doodle bit my dogs ear and when I realized my dogs ear was bleeding she had already fled the park.
Emily M — Google review
My pup, Grape Jelly, loves this park so much! It's close to our house, and it's always busy with lots of dogs to make new friends no matter the time of day or year. There's a little trail area, and a big open field so no matter what your dog is into they have something to do. Watch it when it rains, it gets super muddy in the field area. One star deducted because there's no parking, you have to park at the church across the street.
Noah K — Google review
Truly one of the best dog parks in the city. The folks are kind, the dogs are great, and enough space to spread out. I think this is what all communities should look like.
Seth B — Google review
This is my favorite dog park! It’s large enough that even during busy times it doesn’t feel crowded. And there’s a very pretty shaded area that’s great for walking around or resting at one of the picnic tables. It’s not divided by size, which I actually like! The divided parks I’ve been to tend to cause some barrier aggression between the large a small dogs, so I like it being open (although I understand this may not be a pro for some owners - especially with smaller dogs). It also seems to have a really awesome community that comes together regularly to maintain the park, so I’ve never seen it in poor condition. Still haven’t made it to one of those clean up days myself, but I intend to!

Absolutely thrilled with our experience at Decatur Library! They generously allowed the Carl Is Always Wrighting @carlisalwayswrighting brand to do a photo shoot there for a VoyageATL magazine feature, which went live on May 8, 2025. Since the release, we've been gaining fantastic traction, and it's all thanks to the welcoming environment and support from the library staff. This is the second time they've graciously hosted us for a magazine shoot, and each time they’ve been open, accommodating, and professional. We truly appreciate their continued support and look forward to collaborating again soon. Highly recommend Decatur Library as a versatile and friendly space for creative projects!

Awesome location with incredible staff in the heart of Downtown Decatur! Thank You, K. Foskin for helping us find our book, "Collin's Sweet Adventure" in The Local Author Collection section (available for checkout)! It was an entire field trip! We'll definitely be back to visit again soon!

The children's section is cute, but if you're looking for a library with a more "cozy" feel this probably isn't it. Wood chairs and tables in very open spaces throughout (and not a ton of outlets). There's some privacy at the desks along the sidewall of the 2nd floor, but when the sun starts hitting about 1pm, it's tough to stay there even with the shades drawn. I'm sure they offer great services as all libraries do, but I'm skipping this one for study/work purposes. **Bring something to wipe your table down, because mine hasn't been wiped in many weeks.

Lenox Cupcakes offers a variety of delicious treats, including vegan options. Customers have praised the beautiful presentation of the cakes and the pleasant experience working with the business. While some feedback mentioned dense frosting on regular cakes, others found them to be delicious. However, there were concerns about packaging affecting presentation upon arrival at home. Despite this, customers highly recommend Lenox Cupcakes for its amazing offerings and friendly service.
The team at Lenox Cupcakes did a great job on our wedding cupcakes and a small rosette cake for us to cut as grooms. All of our guests said they enjoyed the cupcakes they tried.
Taylor O — Google review
We ordered two six inch birthday cakes, one chocolate strawberry, one vegan chocolate. The vegan one was really good for a vegan cake and would be worth five stars. I ate the vegan one. The normal cake feedback was that the cake was really good but the frosting was very dense...I had to scrape a lot into the trash. But the cakes were beautiful and it was a very pleasant experience working with the business. I would highly recommend it. On a note, these were very very tall cakes.
Helen L — Google review
I've been approx. 4 times And each time everything is delicious. Recently, I ordered a dozen cupcakes with an assortment of flavors. And the students LOVED them. My favorite so far is the red velvet.
Yosheika H — Google review
A coworker brought some of these in. They were by far the worst cupcake I have ever had. The cake part was dry and hard. The frosting was hard as a rock. Completely inedible. The cupcakes were supposedly fresh, but they were either old and stale or these people don't know how to make a cupcake. There are so many other options for cupcakes in the area, do not waste your money here. Also, my coworker said they had some questionable flyers all over the front of the store which was not a good look. However, she had ordered online and said that if she had known about that, she would have gone elsewhere.
Heather S — Google review
I had a chocolate and a carrot cake cupcake. The chocolate was dense and hard enough to knock someone out and the icing was just as hard. The carrot was more like a muffin than a cupcake and the icing was absolutely terrible, I never knew icing could make someone feel sick. If the price of 8$ for two small cupcakes and the bad customer service wasn’t bad enough the cupcakes being dry and having terrible frosting certainly was.
Asia P — Google review
We had all these delicious cupcakes all of them were very good very moist and soft. My favorite was the icing very delicious
Nicole N — Google review
Overpriced Dry Cupcakes. I got 6 cupcakes; Red Velvet, Pumpkin Spice, Key Lime, Cookies N Cream, Salted Caramel, and White Chocolate. The Keylime was by far the worst I've ever had. The Red Velvet was probably the best out of those flavors. However, the cupcakes themselves were very dry. Plus they were stacked with frosting, and it was litttle too much in my opinion. And the frosting was hard. It was like eating a ball of sugar. Lastly, The customer service is trash and the owner is very rude. Don't waste your hard earned money here.
Nykaira G — Google review
This place is amazing. One the cupcake presentations that I got were perfect lady said she could not get the design I wanted to look exactly the same but she did a very good job at making it look similar to the picture. The only thing that was I think she used cream cheese frosting so it kind of melted. But still tasted so good. I'm even ordering another 2 dozen today. I highly recommend this place for cupcakes!

Revolution was a popular spot in the 1990s, especially for the lesbian community. The Armory, Backstreet, and the Cove were also late-night hotspots during that time. According to Mitch Grooms, a bartender at the Armory from 1987 to 2001, people would often end their nights at these places. On another note, a customer shared positive feedback about their first Botox treatment with Mike.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I couldn’t be happier with my Endolift experience! From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations. The procedure itself was comfortable, and the results are absolutely incredible. My skin feels firmer, more lifted, and refreshed in a way that looks so natural yet noticeable. What impressed me most was his skill and attention to detail—he’s truly an artist in his work. I felt completely confident in his hands, and the outcome has honestly left me speechless. I’ve gotten so many compliments already, and I finally feel like my outside matches how youthful and vibrant I feel inside. If you’re considering Endolift, I can’t recommend him enough. Professional, knowledgeable, and talented beyond words—this experience has been life-changing, and I’m so gratef
