Amusement park
Theme park
Nasu Highland Park is a family-friendly amusement park nestled in the Nasu Highlands, offering an array of attractions and rides suitable for visitors of all ages. With over 40 attractions, including eight large roller coasters and various entertainment options such as live music and animal encounters, the park promises a full day of fun. Set against the backdrop of the Nasu Mountains and Kanto Plains, this expansive park features intertwined roller coasters, water rides, and a 3D theater.
Nice small theme park. Decent rides for a smaller park, crowds during a school day (week day) were essentially zero. Zero to 5 minute wait for all rides.
Dave A — Google review
Arriving at 12 and leaving at 5 we were able to do most of the larger rides aswell as the newer indoor attractions. We could get on each coaster in less than 20minutes, some just walk up and get on. They are decent coasters, alittle old so you feel more impact compared to newer tech. Food was good junk food but alittle pricey. Overall a fun trip and nice scenery.

every penny worth. I visited on Summer holiday. Must recommended. I visited USJ, Yomiuri land, but I was tired of waiting in queue. but here my kids enjoyed thoroughly just with few min of Queue. Luckily I got opportunity to see the fire crackers.
Mubarak A — Google review
Amusement park in a really pretty setting. 8 coaster at this park but only 6 were open for my visit. I did check the schedule beforehand and didn't see any coasters closed, so that was a little but disappointing. Long lines for food at lunchtime due to a few school/college groups. Lots of attractions for everyone to do, including a big wheel, shot tower and double decker carousel. A huge gift shop near the entrance with a few gacha machines too! I bought my tickets in the day at the entrance and didn't queue to get in. So many dogs! Being a dog friendly park, lots of people take advantage of this! So cute. There are also attractions in the park dogs can do, they are well catered for.

Nasu Highland Park is a great park to create experiences like never before that will open the wonderful creative minds of many. The attractions and mazes create a diverse, appealing landscape across many ages! The thrill rides like Big Boom have many elements that create many interesting roller coasters! Although, getting to Nasushiobara by Shinkansen then to the park by an 1:30 hr bus, it is very comfortable and convenient overall! The laser attraction where the deck of cards is, has a laser room that will satisfy the needs of everybody due to the hilarious people that hit the lasers like Audrey Bui and the length of the ride! Have a great day at Nasu Highland Park!!!
Roman T — Google review
Great park in a remote area. Unique and fun rides. Lacks a modern standout ride, but still has some charm with some of its oddities. Like most parks in Japan, the safety routines are over the top, and can hinder operations. Standout attractions would be Big Boom, a oddball coaster with a steep drop and large camelback into a vertical loop. Also has a nice double Decker carousel and a cable driven observation wheel.
Jacob O — Google review
I had so much fun at this place! Different kinds of attractions there..I visited there during holiday so the place was jampacked with people. Good to choose unlimited ride if you will go there during weekdays or else you will wait in line for more than an hour. But still I had a very enjoyable day there and hope to visit again soon.
Bubu C — Google review
Nasuhai is a little bit chilly because you are on highlands, great view too, other than that you can just easily explore the place in one day, kids will surely benefit the fantasy pass set ticket, they can ride and play all day whichever they want.

Zoo
Nasu Animal Kingdom is a unique zoo and farm combination located in a scenic farmland area. It offers interactive experiences, captivating animal performances, and hands-on exhibits that set it apart from traditional zoos. Visitors can interact with various animals such as rabbits, kangaroos, alpacas, penguins, and seals. The renowned bird performance where birds fly inches above visitors' heads is particularly exciting for children.
Staff were really friendly. They had all sorts of cats, birds & other animals. We went a few days ago...during winter so if going during winter, dress warm. You do have to go outside to enter the other sites.
Fiona R — Google review
Love this place. The shows are excellent! Good balance of learning and entertainment. The bird show in particular had a lot of wow factor as the birds flew in barely over the heads of the audience. More immersive exhibits compared to other zoos I've been to. The wetlands and rainforest enclosures especially. Marmosets and lemurs wander around (seemingly) freely and the sloths are cage free. This adds a good touch of excitement to moving through the park. Feeding events/ opportunities are also great. Feed penguins and a seal at 300 yen (3 small pieces of fish) also you can buy feed for the otters and ducks. Restaurants are as expected a little expensive but surprisingly good quality and portions. Also some animals walk around the park with their handlers and you can touch them. Skunk! Anteater! Tortoise! Love this place, will certainly go again.
Adrian S — Google review
This zoo is absolutely amazing! The entire place is clean and well-maintained, and all the animals look healthy and full of energy. It’s clear they are very well cared for. There are plenty of small animal feeding shows that kids absolutely love. The on-site restaurants serve delicious food, making it easy to spend the whole day here. Weekdays are less crowded, and even on rainy days, the covered areas are so well designed that the fun never stops! Highly recommend for families.
Cerise — Google review
On the day we went sightseeing in Nikko from Tokyo, we visited this zoo at our daughter’s request to see capybaras. The capybaras were calm, and we all fed them leaves. Some were even soaking in a hot bath. Although we only stayed for about 45 minutes due to time constraints, we were able to see many rare animals. Not only Miss daughter, but the whole members of my client family was happy.
ITokyoTravel-iTokyoDrive T — Google review
I went here last year and it was terrible. Im not a zoo person in general because I love animals but I was taken here by my cousin. I saw two seals that were in an extremely small area with barely any water; there was just enough for them to submerge their body — not swim. The water looked very murky and green. I also saw what I think was a reindeer. The hooves of the adult reindeer were definitely way too long and needed trimming. It also looked like it was on the semi malnourished side. I was able to see some of its ribs. I'm not a vet or anything but i've always loved animals and I have studied about them through many videos and all I know is none of this felt right to me. I felt very heartbroken for the animals. The kangaroo looked very depressed in the corner and I'm really hoping they let it out at some point every day because that is not a big enclosure at all. Same with the reindeer. I also saw a tiger which I dont have a picture of but I swear, its enclosure was way too small. It kept pacing back and forth repeatedly, and books/videos have told me that usually means the tiger is either stressed, bored or frustrated. I wouldnt want to waste a penny on buying a ticket for this zoo. I personally do NOT want to support this.
Rina T — Google review
Went on a weekend, not very crowded. A hidden spot with little foreign tourists. Great place to bring young children on a family trip. Many attractions to observe the animals up close, with many events held at different timings. Lots of enclosures that allow for visitors to feed the animals for 100 yen. The park is very large and split into 2 parts. The second part visitors can take a free bus or pay to ride a tractor and Chairlift. It would be good to drive there since public transport is scarce.
Neo C — Google review
A unique experience. This Zoo is quite unique because of its animal shows. There are several shows like., Dog show 🐕 Bird show 🦅 Dog and Cat cafe🐕🐈 Dog for rental Cat show Dog and sheep show 🐑🐕 A wild life experience area with green area. Since it’s big there is a free shuttle bus to connect two major parts of the zoo. There is also a tractor ride. 🚜 🆓 Shuttle bus 🚌 🆓 Roapway (500¥ per person) child below 3yrs 🆓 Animal feeding comes with a cost 😊 we need to buy the food if we want to fed the animals and the food cost varies depends on the animal., it starts from 100¥ ~ 300¥. Note : 📝 the shows are very limited, a maximum of 2 ~ 3 shows per day, so the day should be planned well if we want to see all the shows in a single visit. Parking 🅿️ 1000 ¥ , which seems not fare, it should be free of cost in my opinion. Entry ticket 🎟️ Adult : 2600 ¥ Child (3+ years) : 1200¥

Great place. They need to update some of the animal enclosures. Some are too small for the animals. The bird show is absolutely amazing! Parking price was a bit crazy. I had a very fun time

Nasu Stained Glass Museum is the largest of its kind in Japan, featuring antique stained glass from the 19th century. The museum is housed in a stone building designed to resemble an English manor house, creating a serene atmosphere for visitors. In addition to admiring the beautiful stained glass displays, guests can enjoy concerts on weekends and even participate in a stained glass craft experience to create their own unique key chains.
Nice place to visit. There is also a workshop that you can hand-on to practice your skill
Albert H — Google review
The Victorian Era vibes was amazing, you can buy a lot of great souvenirs. Great quality products and overall beautiful pieces of stained glass.
Angel G — Google review
Lovely property that looks like a medieval mansion combined with a church. The beautiful stained glass windows are of course a joy to see. In addition, you can hear an old music box play and a live pipe organ in the church. Stained glass lamp works are also available for purchase.
Yuko — Google review
The ticket does not worth the price. Only similar lamp design displayed. Colorful windows and English style decorations. The shop sells products made with glass and related to the church but does not worth shopping there deliberately. Great spot for shooting outside of the church like other churches. A workshop for glass accessory (requires 40-60min) but the designs are not quite attractive. Overall, not recommended. Felt like a scam for the ticket and travelled by bus for it :( But if you go by car, and have other attractions to go nearby, great place for some pictures.
Monique L — Google review
A nice day out especially if its rainy. Atunning performances
Rowan ( — Google review
It's modern stained glass, I was expecting them to be medieval works. The place was on the upper side of the hill, so it took efforts biking there. But the calm athmostphere and some orgel and pipe organ performance do make the place nice to visit.
Hana T — Google review
An old church with stained glass windows. Pipe Organ concert every 30 minutes or so. Also other recitals in crypt. They have various lamps to sell as well.
Marlene Y — Google review
Very pretty place and definitely worth a look. However Westerners might find it a bit odd that so many Christian religious items, imagery and replicas are used for the sole purpose of admiring and selling stained glass.

Nasu Garden Outlet is a resort-style shopping mall with 132 stores, featuring a focus on sports and active wear. Notable stores include On Classics Store, favored by professional runners, BARCLAY+ women's shoe brand, and Grand PARK for quality and comfort. Located near Nasu Highlands and hot spring resorts, it offers an ideal stop for tourists visiting the area from Tokyo. Unlike other outlets in Chiba and Gotemba, Nasu Garden Outlet offers reasonably priced brands with bigger discounts.
A very relaxing place for shopping with a wide range of brands having shops at the outlet. The highlight from the Outlet was the long chips - they were freshly made on site and they tasted great!
Stella Y — Google review
This outlet is great for walking with your pet. I particularly think the Nike store is fantastic for anyone looking for good, cheap sneakers. There are many on the shelves compared to other Nike outlets. The photo posted of the La Boheme restaurant is wonderful, sophisticated atmosphere and very good food.
Roberto R — Google review
I love this outlet mall. Because it is one level only, it’s quite big. Prepare to walk for long distances. Besides that, lots of brands and products are available at a very reasonable price. Food selection is also good. To get here, the best option is still by car. If you are a visitor coming to this place can be quite tricky.
Joe L — Google review
The atmosphere is relaxed, with many brands and food products to explore.
Niko — Google review
While this outlet mall is conveniently located near Nasushiobara Station, international travelers might find it somewhat lacking. The selection of luxury brands is very limited, and even popular brands like Nike have a restricted range on offer. However, the mall is extremely pet-friendly. You can dine with your pets on the terraces of restaurants, and they are allowed inside if you carry them. There’s also plenty of space for dogs to run around freely. That said, the quality and variety of the products might be a bit disappointing, especially if you’re used to shopping at outlets abroad. Overall, Nasu seems more suited for enjoying the great outdoors and local cuisine rather than for shopping.
Kyle S — Google review
Really big shopping garden with lot of famous branded outlets, you can find clothes, foods, vegetables and some sweets. also can find rare items for gift like blue berry honey. so it's good visit if you have a extra time like 1-2 hours. price is very reasonable for almost everything
Aruna S — Google review
I went there on a free shuttle bus from Nasushiobara station. If you want to get there, try to check it on thr website for the schedule. It snowed the day before I came (on 28th Dec) so snowed all the place. This time every brand is on big sales with many famous brands. Got nice stuffs for my holidays. They also have restaurants and convenience stores in case you are lost in the maze of shopping stores. :)

Nasu Safari Park is a renowned destination featuring a safari zone where visitors can observe various animals up close. The park offers the option to drive through in your own vehicle or hop on the Lion Bus for a leisurely exploration. With over 700 animals from about 70 African species, including lions, giraffes, and elephants, it's an adventure suitable for both children and adults. Additionally, the park boasts amusement facilities such as roller coasters and hosts popular themed events.
The safari park is really fun. You have the choice of driving your own vehicle or taking the animal busses. The animals get right up and you can feed them. It was a great fun to see and touch the animals directly. Besides the vehicles, you can also walk to side of the enclosures and feed the animals as well. Although you have to attract them towards you with your own abilities. Which was actually half of the fun! It gets a little pricey to keep buying the animal feed, but treat it as a worthwhile experience. Try to go on a weekday to avoid the crowds. That way, you really get to take your time and have fun.
Gary P — Google review
we really enjoyed this experience. We came with rental car. Better driving ourselves instead of taking the park bus is that we could explore at our own pace while observing and feeding the animals. There are many different types of animals to feed, and getting up close to them is a fantastic experience for both children and elderly people👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Neoh R — Google review
Interacting with animals has always been a special moment for me. But after more than two decades of traveling in Japan, I have yet to visit a place where captive animals seem genuinely happy and fairly treated (zoo, cat cafe, pet shop). Perhaps I have a biased western point of view and I am sure that workers at those parks love taking care of their animals. Nevertheless, the overall experience is often a let down. Sadly the Nasu Safari Park doesn't deviate much from that fact. The theme park aspect is great, the souvenir shop is huge and the staff is super friendly. You can access the safari tour with your own vehicle, with a rental car provided on site (recommended) or by funny buses designed as animals. There is also a restaurant but it was closed so I can't speak of the food. The real downside is that the tour is timed and since all the vehicles are following each other, there's almost no time to stop to take pictures or simply watch. On the animal side, the safari offers lions, giraffes, antelopes, bisons and such. But most weren't too lively aside from the ruminants that stick their tonge onto your car hoping to receive treats that you can buy at the ticket counter. That was kind of funny. However some seemed really depressed like the tiger at the entrance who went around in circles or the birds at the petting zoo in their minuscule cages. A little bit heartbraking. Anyway, if you're passing nearby, you can go and judge by yourself. If you have kids they'll probably love it!
Michael C — Google review
There’s a little discount when you buy tickets from the hotel. We chose to self drive with our own car. As it was low season, we were able to go super slowly and interact with all the animals without cars behind us. Do purchase the feed for an ultra fun experience. Beware of the alpaca! It spat into the car and spit was all over my face. It was a brown alpaca haha May pay a little sum to wash the car at the end! We love the experience.
Cheryn — Google review
We get to feed wild animals. It was a great experience. The donkey was very funny. I recommend renting the safari car.
Y C — Google review
A great place to get up close, and really see the animals. Entry was a little expensive, 2 adults plus bus fee was 7800 yen. They sell animal biscuits for another 1000 yen. You can take your own car, chartered bus, or special bus through the park. It was great to see all the animals in such a short distance. We took the guided bus, which was the perfect speed to enjoy looking at, and feeding all of the animals. The bus driver aso gives information about the different animals. The restaurant was also really good, but amazingly crowded. Even going for lunch during off hours, there was over an hour wait. There's a small petting zoo with rabbits, goats, sheep, and llamas. Overall, it's well worth the cost to go at least once.
Sonya S — Google review
Nice place to come with family. We rented a car at the park. Some people were driving their cars in the park and just thought that was dumb. Especially when the donkeys come and start chewing off your side view mirror. It was a a little small in my opinion. But it was fun we got to feed the giraffes and the elephants and many deer. If you can you should check it out just once. Plan on spending about an hour here
Andy H — Google review
One time is enough, but still fun experience! If you bring your pets, you need to leave your pet in the cage near the gate. You can rent a car to drive through or you can bring your own car. You can feed animals for ¥1000.

Nasu World Monkey Park is a popular animal park in Kanto, Japan. It offers visitors the chance to interact with various animals, including petting squirrel monkeys and lemurs, feeding parakeets, and even riding elephants. The park also features a 30-40 minute monkey show held three times a day. Children under six can feed monkeys from outside the cage, while older children can enter the cage for closer interaction. Additionally, there's a restaurant and souvenir shop on-site.
Great place!!! Riding the elephant was fun!♡ you can also feed them and the monkey show was amazing 😁
Jean C — Google review
Attended on a Saturday with no wait. Best part was the lunch in the Cafe and the bird enclosures were pretty good too. Sadly the monkeys were either in a concrete bunker with minimal trees or real life situation. We had seen macaque in the wild 2 days prior and was far more enjoyable. All other monkeys in small cages and unable to see them clearly. Elephants were also in a small area of muddy soil with no trees to encourage them to gather their own food. Very disappointing.
Peter G — Google review
The place was not huge, and there were a few animals. I felt bad for the elephants for working straight for a couple of hours, carrying people on their backs. My daughter was also bitten by a small monkey on the face.
Lyzel Q — Google review
Nice place, a big variety of monkeys, the staff is kind and you can, okay with the lemurs, enjoy the monkey show and ride an elephant as well, the only negative comment is that the place need a little maintenance but it's not a big deal, I recommend it especially if you go with kids.
Jorge C — Google review
Staff were lovely and very kind when we experienced touching the monkeys, but other than that, seeing Elephant Rides advertised was disappointing and sad to see, and the cages that the monkeys and birds were in were small and overall the place felt cramped and old.
Amy-Louise E — Google review
One of the best monkey parks in Kanto, Japan. See and touch animals, monkey show for children, elephant rides, restaurant and souvenir shop. Staff were excellent! Definitely recommend as a destination if you plan to visit Nasu.
Paul W — Google review
One of the worst decisions in my life. You pay money for seeing a dead baby monkey trampled by his baby brothers because no one cares. The caged monkeys are all in bad shape. Wounds, missing fur and psychological I don't know how much they are hurt. The cages are really smelly and it looked like the owner doesn't really care about cleaning. We left after 15 Minutes. Don't go there!!!
Da B — Google review
Nothing interesting. Prisoned poor monkeys into small cages. Don't pay money for promoting those poor unhappy animals anymore. There was also two elephant, one is chained in a narrow space. Please dont ride her, she was really upset that can be seen from her eyes....

Nasu Rindoko Lake View Family Ranch is a leisure facility located around the picturesque Rindo Lake in Nasu Highlands. It offers a wide range of attractions and activities, including animal encounters at the petting zoo with alpacas and Jersey cows, thrilling rides such as the KAKKU zip-line that glides over the lake, and boat rides. Visitors can also enjoy making butter and explore various shopping and dining options.
Its a good place with lot of attractions. Adult price is 4900¥ for including all rides. Just for entry and separate tickets per ride you have to pay 1600¥. Must do is the Go Cart
Ankitt K — Google review
Is OK, installations are a bit rundown, sleeping on the lake in summer at night is too cold day is too hot, tent have only one layer, Alpaca tents are better, distances from tent to toilet a bit long. Kids enjoyed.
Ek B — Google review
Good for small kids. Big park. You can feed some animals like alpacas and some faem animals. We love the ATV dinosaur adventure though it will take 30 mins wait.
Y C — Google review
As I got the free admission tickets for the fireworks, we went there together with my grandson. We arrived about one hour earlier than the starting time, but my grandson very enjoyed the amusement facilities which are very traditional one. As long as grandson is happy no complaints at all. But it might be a different story if we go there earlier as the sun was down already when we were there. Fireworks lasted 30 minutes and can be enjoyable enough.
Comfortably N — Google review
I highly recommend the 🦕 Dinosaur Adventure attraction at the park. The animatronics and arrangement of the dinos makes the walk with the dinosaurs very realistic. So much so that my little boy needed to be held the whole time because of the realism of the robotic dinosaurs 🦖. The park cost ¥1600/ adult to get in and the Dinosaur Adventure is another ¥600 per adult. This park also has a petting farm where you can pet and feed goats, alpacas 🦙, ponies and milk 🐄 cows. Throughout the day you can pay to milk a cow or bottle feed a calf. A great place to spend the day with your kids.
Tokyo V — Google review
This theme park seems nice if you have kids but if you do not there is not a lot to do. The theme park entry fee is quite expensive and you have to pay 1000 yen for parking at the park. For the cost of entry there is not a lot to do. There are some animals you can see and interact with, some rides for kids, and some restaurants. This place is dog friendly. Staff is friendly.
Kate — Google review
Nice place but the never-ending happy music loop makes me want to exit and never come back. Either that or kill myself. If they had paused the music every once in a while I might be able to stay sane. They have the pool open during the summer but the water was slightly cold and the duck toys were not clean. Do not recommend for babies who are still eating everything.

Senbonmatsu Farm offers free entry and parking, making it a relatively inexpensive outing for adults. The farm features a petting zoo with a variety of animals and a large corn maze that takes over 30 minutes to complete. Visitors can also enjoy the quiet forested area and check out the horses on this beautiful ranch. Additionally, there are carnival games and attractions for kids, as well as an on-site restaurant offering unlimited bread, milk, and yogurt.
We spent about an hour walking around and shopping at Senbonmatsu Farm. The shop had a nice variety of dairy products, and everything looked fresh and locally made. One of the highlights was the beautiful path lined with sakura trees—perfect for a peaceful stroll. We didn’t have time to try out the other activities since we had to check in at our hotel, and although we planned to come back, we didn’t get the chance.

This place is truly a paradise for dog owners. It boasts a spacious area with a dog run available for a fee. When I visited on a weekday afternoon, there were many pet owners from both in and out of the prefecture, evident from the variety of license plates in the parking lot. While it seems less known among international tourists, this hidden gem is a fantastic spot to experience the charm and nature of Japan, particularly in Nasu. Having traveled extensively, I found this location exceptionally memorable. Especially during the cherry blossom season, it offers a serene escape from the crowded spots in Tokyo, allowing you to enjoy the blooms at your leisure. The facility also includes restaurants and snack options like ice cream stands, as well as areas where you can interact with animals. It’s rich in variety and perfect not just for those with dogs but for families too. I highly recommend a visit!

If you go to Nikko, you should definitely try the soft serve ice cream here. Made from fresh milk, the soft serve was so delicious that even I, who have a milk allergy, couldn't resist having some without experiencing any stomach pain. It was incredibly tasty.

I thought it could be difficult to communicate since I don't speak japanese but one of the teachers knew English which was great for all the detailed explanations. After we went into the museum and around the 1st was all the old teddy bears in different setups, themes, and more, it was lovely! Nestled in the Nasu Highlands at the base of the Nasu Mountains, Sessho-Seki, also known as the Killing Stone, is a legendary boulder with a dark mythological tale. According to Japanese folklore, this large rock is believed to emit deadly fumes and is associated with the legend of Tamamo-no-Mae, a nine-tailed fox spirit.
A cool spot for a quick side trip if you’re in Nasu. There’s no entrance fee, and not a ton to see if you’re expecting something spectacular, but the stones are interesting, and the history makes it more fun. There are signs explaining the legend, which are worth reading! You can really smell the strong onsen scent in the area. There’s also a path leading up the mountain to a temple (I think), but I didn’t go up since it was too cold. 🥶😅 Worth a visit if you’re nearby and into legends and history!

There is a music box demonstration about once every 30 minutes, and you can enjoy the sounds as well. Each time they demonstrate a slightly different music box, you can enjoy it several times. The girls, ages 12-15, had fun making music boxes. There were also families and couples. I feel like I have been able to touch the entrance to the depths of the music box. It would have been nice if there were more in-depth exhibits such as the structure. NOZARU Tree Adventure Nasu is an exhilarating treetop experience located in Nasu-Machi, Tochigi. Visitors can navigate through the forest canopy using ropes and harnesses, swinging and sliding between pine trees on an elevated route. The park offers a thrilling outdoor activity suitable for families, providing a great workout while ensuring endless adventure. Reservations can be made online for specific time slots, with each session lasting three hours.
The adventure courses are really fun and challenging. If you want to finish all the 8 courses, you must arrive on time. It spent us 3 hours for 6 courses in the lower area. You don't have to afraid of the heights as you won't fall off from the rope and platforms. But you should have a good stamina for the courses. DARK pants/trousers are recommended! Some staff can speak in English in case you are not speaking in Japanese.

My family had so much fun, and it was a great workout! We had a lot of questions before we went, so hopefully this review will answer some of yours. Reservations are taken online. They take people in blocks of 3 hours each, 4 blocks per day, so select the best day and time for you. It's all in Japanese so if you're a non-Japanese speaker you'll want to use a PC to make it easier to translate the forms. They're basically asking for your name and other normal info. In the comment area, write all the names of your party and their height in cm next to each name. Height restrictions for the Nozaru (adult) course: 130 cm to 185 cm Weight restrictions for the Nozaru (adult) course: 25 kg to 110 kg We have a family of 4. Our youngest is 120 cm, and the rest of our group are above 130 cm. People over 110 cm and under 130 cm must use the "kozaru" course ("child-monkey"), and must have an adult accompany them. Adults are not allowed on the course, and must watch from below. If you have two adults who want to climb but one has to watch the kid, you have the option to pay for both adults for the Nozaru course, but switch any time you choose. That's what we did. After you sign in at reception and fill out the release form, they'll have an expert help you get your gear on. There is a harness system and a separate clip system. They attach the clip system using a wrench, so it won't come undone accidentally. Next is the helmet fitting, and finally you'll select a pair of gloves. Everything is washed after each use. Which is a good thing, because we got sweaty during our run! Basic don'ts: don't touch the delicate roller area where your clip attaches to the wires. Don't ever use the clip's wire to move along because you can mangle your fingers if you get them caught in the clips. Don't swing your clips around because they're heavy and can really hurt. Don't let your clips drag on the ground and get dirty. One person on an element at a time, but two are allowed at the nodes between elements (the platforms). Is it safe? The clips are pretty darned ingenious. It was the first time I've used anything like that. There are different systems for the Kozaru and the Nozaru course. The Kozaru course slips on to the end of the wire using a "hammer clip." The clips for the Nozaru course are linked in such a way that only one can be unlocked at a time. This means that you always have at least one point of connection to the course, but usually two and sometimes 3. For Nozaru there are 7 courses you can try. They recommend starting with courses 2, 3, or 6, but it's really up to you. There is enough time to try them all if you're fast, and in any order you like. I personally found 6 to be the easiest. For Kozaru there are 5 courses with a wide range of difficulty. The courses start with a brief climb for the Nozaru. It's tricky, because you have to manipulate the harness and the rope that you're clipped to. It's best to have a partner help you pull the rope up little by little, but it's possible to do it by yourself. The harness often gets caught on the climbing pegs, so go slowly enough that it doesn't yank you off balance when that happens. Continue through the course, using the wrapped area below your clip for stability when you need it. Remember, don't put your hands on the wire you use for your clip. Find another way. When you get to the zipline at the end, make sure your clip lines aren't twisted. Keep your legs straight and pointed forward for the best landing. Let your legs hang if you want to go slower. Once you're down and if you have more time, choose your next climb and go for it! Access: we came by bus and luckily it was a good-weather day. Get off at the Osoyamabashi bus stop and follow the Nozaru signs. It's about a 15 minute walk. If you're already in the Nasu Highland Park, there is a small path you can take. It's past the petting zoo, across the bridge, and up to the right. The path is marked with the sign in the first picture. DISCOUNT: bring your Highland Park admission tickets for a great Nozaru discount.

It's best to check the website for reservation availability. This athletic facility is located next to Nasu Highland Park. It's a fairly professional athletic facility, and on the adult monkey course, you'll be strapped in and walk about 8 meters above the ground. It may be difficult for those with a fear of heights, and you may be a nuisance to other visitors, so I recommend carefully considering whether to go. After checking in, you put your luggage down and have your harness and other safety equipment put on. After receiving a lesson on how to use the harness, you head out onto the course. There are only eight courses, which may seem like a small number, but when you actually try them, you'll find it difficult to move forward due to the physical demands and fear. I think you'll make it through the three-hour time limit. It's not that well-known yet, but it was a very satisfying athletic facility. I tried it on a sunny day, but it might be a bit tougher in bad weather. The staff aren't particularly friendly, but they do a good job of assisting you. I arrived after 11:00, but even after ringing the bell, the staff member didn't come out for a long time, and when she did, she looked quite listless. The staff member was a young female. When I told her I wanted to go blueberry picking, she replied listlessly, "We're not open yet." She explained that the weather was... and that they haven't been open much lately. It was early July, the peak season, and the shop was open. They're also open online. There were no other customers. It didn't seem fully booked. I was curious, so I asked, "Are the blueberries grown outdoors since it was raining?" and she said they were in greenhouses. "The weather doesn't matter, right?" I replied, and she mumbled something. It was clear that she had no interest in assisting me as a staff member. She seemed to want to send me home and go back to the waiting room. The vibe of this place is so chill, nice art craftsmanship applied to this area.

Treasure Stone Park in the Tohoku area offers a delightful family-friendly experience. Children can explore an artificial river and underground mine, sifting through sand to uncover agate and other precious gems. This amusement park provides an enjoyable treasure hunting activity that is sheltered from rain. The amicable staff offer entertaining explanations that are easily understandable for children. Overall, Treasure Stone Park is highly recommended for its educational yet fun-filled attractions.
Pretty enjoyable amusement park suitable for family visitor in Tohoku area. Here you can enjoy treasure hunting in the river and also in the mine. It is inside the facility so you do not need to worry about the rain. Also the explanation by the friendly staff here is very entertaining and easy to understand children as well. Highly recommended!

Very entertaining for children and people who like stones. Basically there are 2 plans, the Underground Mine and the Crystal River. The Crystal River plan can be attended on the spot but the Underground Mine requires advance reservation. Attended the Crystal River plan and I can say it was fun, although it was only 20 minutes. If you find a small key, you'll be able to exchange it for a nice-sized crystal. They also sell crystal geodes, which is very interesting. You choose whichever you like (price according to size), and you crack it open and take it home. Nice place to spend one hour or two.

It's so funny place. you can get an experience to mining stones in the sand with your kid(s). but that's all of it nothing more. and hard to find entrance for car.
Kevin J — Google review
So, i didnt go to the main park but we drove around it a bit and then went to the stone digging thing! It was so beautiful and looked very high class. As for the actual stone thing it was super super fun, now everything moves kinda fast so people who don't really understand stand Japanese might not fully understand but it's really simple, you get a bucket and shovel. You dig for crystals or tiny keys and then you get the rock out of the dirt in your shovel ( dont put the sand or dirt in your bucket! Only the stuff you want! ) and put it in your bucket. Then if you find one of the tiny keys 🔑 you can get a big (ish) crystal. So yeah. Have fun! Ps The drive there is really far from Tokyo or Yokohama and it's the mountains so be prepared if you do go, it is a very beautiful town and drive. There's no place like those mountains in the world. Soo pretty.

Loved the crystal river stone hunting at this place. We went on public holiday so, had to wait for 65mins for our turn but, while waiting we shopped and did sand play during wait.
Nita N — Google review
Kids enjoyed it. There are 2 courses, but you need to reserve the mine course at least a day ahead. The crystal river is the one available without a reservation, but it depends how busy it is.

Rail museum
SL Land Museum is a great place for a family outing, especially if you have little ones who are fans of Thomas the Tank Engine. Despite some mixed reviews, the museum offers various interactive exhibits that can be enjoyable for young children. While it may not rival larger theme parks, it still provides enough entertainment as a local attraction. Additionally, visitors can find Thomas-themed merchandise at the souvenir corner to bring home as mementos of their visit.
(Translated by Google) My two-year-old son has recently become obsessed with Thomas, so we went to SL Land, but I didn't think it was as bad as some other reviews said. There were various mechanisms inside the building and I had a lot of fun! Well, I don't have a dream like a certain famous mouse kingdom, but it's enough for a small local museum! There were some Thomas goods in the souvenir corner, which made my son happy.

This is not a rail museum. Inside the wagons are some very old and dirty play area for kids : my 2 year old cried because he found the place scary (the place in general is quite creepy, probably nothing has been renewed since the 70's). You have to pay an additional fee for the few things that interest kids (railway mockup). If the entrance fee was cheap I would not have mind it so much but with 1000yen for adults and 600yen for kids the place is totally overpriced. Even on rainy days I don't recommend. You'd rather spend those 1000yen in playing at the neighbouring car museum.
Elisa M — Google review
Huge waste of money, 2 adults and a toddler were 4000 yen. Then once you're in all the rides, trains require more money. If you want to see the model trains move you need to pay 100 yen per train per loop. Wanted to get our moneys worth but only stayed 30 mins max.

(Translated by Google) After reading the reviews, I was wondering if I should stop going or not, and as I passed by, I realized that my son wanted to go! ! ! I cried, so I decided to go... As everyone has written, the big diorama was great! It was interesting to see the night view! I guess the air wasn't very good because I had to close the curtains for quite a while.😅The facility was dusty to begin with... The talking tree at the entrance to the second floor was talking with its broken mouth, nostalgic tea dogs and pigs were jumping out at the title ``Jumping Insects,'' and suddenly there were vehicles that looked like those at Thomas' game center. Licca-chan's color is fading and she's about to fall over, which makes it a little creepy (lol) On the 3rd floor, I walked through a hallway that looked like a haunted house at a school festival (lol), so I didn't really understand it. I may have had some preconceived notions based on the reviews, but it was already full of highlights lol. The train outside was generally nice, but the kids' room was dusty and the air wasn't very good, so we left right away😅It would have been more attractive if it was clean, but...the kids seemed to want to play. For some reason, there is a Hello Kitty battery car outside the train. For adults? However, any vehicle is fun for a child (lol), but since I'm taking the opportunity, I told him to go with Thomas, so I guided him to ride the Thomas vehicle lol. I enjoyed having Sir Topham Hatt and others face-fucking. The Dome Theater was also completely unrelated to SL, but I enjoyed it. It seemed like they were showing Nintama and GeGeGe no Kitaro alternately, and since we were the only customers, they said, ``Either is fine,'' and ``It's early, but let's get started.'' What about adults? ? ? It's a big facility, it's not very clean, and I think 1,000 yen is a bit expensive, but my 2-year-old son seemed to enjoy it, and even the adults had some fun with it too, and it took just over an hour! It might be difficult to repeat (lol) but it might be okay to go once if you want to see something scary!

(Translated by Google) Frankly speaking, it is not worth paying the 1000 yen admission fee. A play area made up of a decaying freight car, a treasure corner with old-fashioned problems, a ride-on toy for children (plus extra charge!), etc. Are you going to pay 1,000 yen for this? Will a 3-year-old child also have to pay 600 yen? ? That's the level of fraud. I tried my best to enjoy it since I had already paid for it, but I just felt like I had been cheated. It's one of the most disappointing facilities in Nasu, so we recommend skipping it.

(Translated by Google) The restaurant next to SL Land was a little expensive, but the kids were happy because the locomotive delivered the food. However, although the panorama at the museum was interesting, there wasn't much about trains other than that, there was trick art, a mysterious maze, and a video of Nintama Rantaro, so I went there expecting to see trains. It makes me feel sad. It's so sad that I wish the playland inside the train outside could be designed with a train motif.

(Translated by Google) Admission fee is 1000 yen. It already looks suspicious from the outside, but when you actually enter, you are left at the mercy of the incomprehensible exhibits. It's a so-called B-class spot. But what was the owner of this place thinking when he decided to display this kind of content? The pamphlet says things like ``a special date course for boyfriends and girlfriends,'' but it is definitely not like that, and I will definitely regret it. Although it is advertised as SL Land Museum, when you enter inside, there is a mysterious trick art on the 2nd floor, a half-baked number of Licca-chan dolls, and a half-baked attraction on the 3rd floor, and on top of that, there is GeGeGe no Kitaro outside. Dome theater...! What does it have to do with SL? There are many wonderful places in this area, but there are also some spots like this one where you "throw away your money", so visit at your own risk...
