This is an amazing market, seems everything is here, quite big! Upstairs are clothing, bags and silks. We don’t have a very good experience up there, they were very pushy! A lady meet us on the stairs asking us to have a look at her clothing, told her we’re not looking anything in particular just having a look around. But she won’t have it, they will put anything you might be interested in your face! She was getting rude when I wasn’t buying. Price start really high! Another woman won’t let you passed by until they shoved anything they’re selling on your face! They repeat what you saying in a rude way! Downstairs all food, plenty of dry fruits, nuts, anything you can think of and in all different sections. Quite pleasant to look around here because they won’t bother you that much unless you ask! Helpful to have google for translation, most of sellers won’t understand English. Great experience.

A good place to practice your bargaining skills and try some local cuisine. The market has sections: kitchen ceramics, baskets weaving, shoes, nuts and grains, fresh flowers, food incense etc.

Great market and street market outside in the week at least when we visited. Friendly owners help guide you through just about every food type and fruit. This is a special market where you can buy your fruit and veggies and tea and then sit and have some fresh food. I decided to see the Tay Loc Market (Cho Tay Loc) in Hue. The colors and smells of fresh produce in the markets are always so stimulating. Busy scenes of vendors selling food to morning shoppers are the best show of Vietnam’s vibrant street life. The Cho Tay Loc combines both a wet market and a dry goods sections with another area for cheap street food dining. This was a very nice opportunity for me to see the actions that drive a vibrant local economy and daily life. Be sure to grab a bite or get coffee at their little food stalls, and grab a few tropical food home.

I ran out of socks and managed to find some here . They didn’t have a lot of clothes to fit horizontally challenged people like me but I got some singlets as well as a puffy jacket. The people were very helpful and friendly and I don’t think they were trying to take advantage of my ooor language skills . Hundred years ago, it used to a enormous and glorious palace. Sadly, many constructions are damaged, though they are being restored, could not bring back the original spirit of the place. The atmosphere was quite sad in a rainy day.

Come to the palace for a photo op, especially in traditional costumes. It's not a particularly interesting place for a casual tour, but it's beautiful in its details. If you're visiting on a sunny day, be sure to bring an umbrella, as there's very little shade.

What a beautiful place, full of history and nice buildings. One of them stands out on pictures. Tickets cost 200k for entrance fee. You will easily spend 2h minimum there. We decided to rent an electric bike for 90 min, so we could go around more easily without being too tired. It was worth it. I think it would have been better to go with a tour to understand the whole history and background behind the imperial city. So much to learn. Anyways, worth it!

On the way to Hue, we passed a wonderful bridge and an incense village. there is a lot of history to cover here, it was very very hot, so be prepared with sunglasses, hats, umbrellas, water..visited Hue imperial city – the palace of 13 Nguyen Kings with Ngo Mon Gate, Library, Thai Hoa Palace, Nine Dynastic Urns, etc.

Last visited 3 years ago and some buildings were under restoration, now able to enter and definitely worth seeing, Hue's main attraction and rightly so, recommend getting a multi site ticket for the Emperor tombs as well which can be used for 2 days

A lot of walking which was also fun but we also rented a golf cart with someone driving us around. It’s amazing that we get to look into the past, how the royals of the Nguyen Dynasty lived.

This place serves up transitional chè. We didn’t like the location because several street hawkers tried to sell us stuff. They were persistent and the owner didn’t bother to shoo them away.

20k for a “large” size cup Che that is made up of 90% ice and 10% the actual content. Taste was very bland, as you can imagine as it’s pretty much just ice. Definitely nothing to brag to your dogs about. Top that off with the grotesque “service” here, if you can even call it that, you have a recipe for an extremely uneventful experience.

Not a popular tomb complex but it’s beautiful. We had the place to ourselves at 8.30am. Lots to see. Restoration work was happening in one area. There are several tombs here, spread out - just follow the brick paths. Nice temple too with red and gold interior. 50,000 Dong entrance fee.

Highly recommended! One of the best places for Bun Bo in Hue. There are two styles of Bun Bo in Hue: one is bland, while the other is rich and has a hint of fermented shrimp sauce. This restaurant offers the second style. I particularly love the Bun Bo with eye-round steak here. While Bun Bo Hue is mainly sold in the morning, this place serves it all day long.

Nice Bun Bo Hue in very local place. I really enjoyed both meatballs and bloodcake. Very tasty and great atmosphere to enjoy it. On a note, the chilli is really kicking here. Price is extremely honest too.

We came to this place right before they closed and the broth pot was almost empty and there were no pork hocks left but we just gotta try. And we were not disappointed. Highly recommend to come here and set the bar high for Bún Bò Huế for the rest of your stay in Hue :)

A guide brought us here because we wanted to eat like the local. And we were the only non-local at this small eatery in a dark alley at dinner time. We had the beef and pork noodle soup on a very short table and chairs. Soup was good, and the pork balls were better. The beef and pork were ok. There was a piece of pig blood cake with we didn't dare to try. Recommended.

Apparently this place is very famous among locals for bun bo. They are famous with the pork cakes, but they dont have crab cakes. The soup is less flavourful than the bun bo we usually have. If you would like to try a local joint the come here, the street is small and the place is not very comfortable neither look hygiene though.

The food is so fresh and just off the grill good! Lovely ladies serve some of the best food in the area! The pork garlic bbq skewers are super yummy!

A beautiful and unique place, the pagoda sits on a hill, peaceful and serene, right next to the picturesque Perfume River. There are tasty local foods and great seating spots by the river. Nearby you can enjoy kayaking, swimming in the river, and listening to the famous Hue folk songs. Inside the pagoda, many relics and valuable information about the Nguyen Dynasty (Vietnam’s last feudal dynasty) are preserved. The pagoda also houses a great bell recognized as a national treasure.

A quaint tourist spot. It is serene, sleepy and yet charming. This spot is especially enticing when there are not a lot of tourists around and you are left on your own. The history of this spot is already covered on other sites, so I am not going over it.

Stunning beyond my wildest expectations. I could have spent hours there other than for the heat. Without question the visit here has been my highlight of the whole trip to Hue. Early, early morning or very late afternoon most highly recommended.

This isn't the most popular of the tombs, but it's the most interesting. There's a large park here, where you can stroll in the shade or sit by the lake. Plus, it's close to the city, so it's easy to just wander around in the pleasant atmosphere.

This mausoleum is one of the four most beautiful mausoleums in Hue, famed for its poetic and elegant architecture. This enormous construction has 2 main parts: palace and tomb. Take time too walk around and explore this place!

Personally I preferred this over the other royal tombs in the area. The site was much larger than I thought it would be, and was lovely to walk around. The grounds were serine and very well kept. Not many information plaques that I could find so maybe an audioguide would be good. Lots of trees so plenty of opportunity to stay in the shade on sunny days.

Seen on an extremely wet day (serious flooding in Hue city) this is an interesting complex of temples, buildings and artifacts set in 12 hectares of beautifully laid out grounds with attractive lake, bridges and a temple on stilts. Worth a visit.

The space is open and full of greenery, with calm lakes and ancient architecture that feels like stepping into an old poem. If you’re visiting Hue, don’t miss Tu Duc Tomb. It’s beautiful, tranquil, and rich with imperial charm — perfect for a quiet, soulful afternoon.

An absolutely stunning and unique imperial tomb. The mix of Vietnamese and French architectural styles is unlike anything else in Hue, with dark stone exteriors leading to an explosion of colour inside. The interior is covered in intricate glass and porcelain mosaics, and the level of craftsmanship is incredible. The climb up the steps is worth it for the detail and atmosphere. A must-see if you’re exploring Hue’s imperial history.

This site is very impressive with detailed architecture that mixes Vietnamese and French styles. The mosaics inside are beautiful and worth seeing. However, it is quite crowded with many tourists, and the area is not very large, so the visit can feel a bit short compared to other tombs in Hue. What an incredible visit to the Tomb of Emperor Khai Dinh! I traveled here with a group, and we were all truly impressed. The tomb itself is a masterpiece, blending Eastern and Western architecture in a way I've never seen before. The details are stunning—from the grand dragon staircase (as seen in our photos!) to the intricate mosaics inside. Beyond the amazing structure, the atmosphere is very special, and the views of the surrounding hills and nature are just beautiful. It was a memorable and wonderful experience for our entire group. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Vietnam!

Nice to walk around. Inside the building is beautiful and well worth a visit. Also a beautiful view of the mountain. Just be warned there are 127 steps to the top! The statues were also very cool to see. Easy to get a taxi there and back from the centre of town. 150k entry per adult, worth getting the combo ticket at the citadel if you are visiting multiple tombs. Very busy at 3pm!

This extremely ornate mausoleum is a must see. It exemplifies the influence of Chinese style dynasties as the influence the French has in the style of objects preserved with former rulers. This one has a lot of stairs, so make sure to wear something comfortable and beware of the hot season.

Really lovely palace. There aren't many information plaques so maybe the audioguide would be better for those wanting to know the history of the place. It's not very big and will only take 30-45 minutes (without an audioguide). There isn't too much shade so make sure to bring a hat on sunny days.

The mausoleum was pretty impressive with fantastically detailed decoration. A slightly over-long video with English subtitles gives useful background on this and other notable historic complexes in the area, so worth a watch if your eyes don't glaze over or your brain melts with the plethora of phonetically challenging characters. Nice local food place within a block of our hotel. Busy. No English and they didn't understand Google translate either. We figured things out with some sign language in between some broken Vietnamese and English. Very tasty crispy pancakes, and grilled pork. Great at filling the sides salad and veggies to wrap with your meats. I'd say minimum spend here is $130k VND might feed people if you are small eaters with 1 order of each of their 2 dishes: 9 lemon grass nem pork skewers with rice paper wrappers (all in 1 order) plus 2 banh khaoi (also 1 order) both come with veggies and the homemade (Hue area specific) sauce. The sauce has nice flavor but abit thick. I like the same dishes but prefer it with the traditional fish sauce found in other areas of Vietnam. Still fun to try for the experience while you're in the area. My son loves the food without any sauce. Quite flavorful as is.

Prices are a touch higher than street-level options, but that’s a fair trade for quality, consistency, and experience. Locals mingle with tourists, creating a lively, friendly chaos. Expect a wait during peak hours, but it’s worth it. This is not a place for choice overload. It’s a place to focus, to understand Huế through two dishes that demand attention. Crisp, fresh, and comforting, Bánh Khoái Hồng Mai delivers a perfect snapshot of traditional Huế cuisine, rough edges and all.

There's only 2 menu here, banh khoai and nem lui. They make the banh khoai upon ordering so it's guaranteed to be crispy. I didn't order the nem lui but I heard you can order by pieces? One of the staff knows english, even if they dont, they will still teach tourists how to eat the banh khoai. I feel it is quite good, a mix of different texture but the meat a bit tough.

“Only” 2 dishes on the menu and this is exactly why you want to stop here if you are in Hue. Nem Lui (pork skewers) are delicious and you cant stop eat them. Banh khoai (pancake) with shrimps are heavenly crunchy and tasty. Eat, love, repeat.

You know it’s going to be good when a restaurant only has 2 items on the menu, and this is no exception. Don’t skip either item, and don’t forget to generously apply the hot sauce and peanut sauce!

As they have just couple of items on menu, its made to perfection. I was instantly in love with their Banh khoai, the crispy filled pancake. The rest was super fresh and tasty, too. Service: charming, speaking English, explaining how to eat Hue way, and very honest- as i wanted to leave tip, they asked 3 times, if im sure, if im not mixing up the notes... so sweet. It is not a fancy restaurant, more on the basic side, but do yourself a favour, get off the beaten (tourist) track and have a lunch there. You will come for more :)

I here to try the rice pancake, super crispy but a little mild in tastes to my preferences, have to add some chilli sauces. The grill meat is fairly averages, i see they serves ice tea to some customer but not all, overall good to experience if around the area.

Broth is average, plenty of room for seasoning to your liking, which can be a good thing, but lacking in bone richness. The veggies plate is great. Service is mediocre. I asked for a cha Hue, 3rd time was served and it was incorrect but they didn't charge me for it.

I saw this place from my hotel window and thought I’d give it a go and man did they deliver! The first thing I noticed was the very fast service, literally zero waiting time. I had their Dac Biet and it was amazing, very juicy and tender meat and the serving size is huge.

Unfortunately, bun bo hue are abundant in this city. Thus, the standard is pretty high. This one however doesn't stand out and the flavor was just okay. Not bad, but nothing special either. The service is great though! They also have a large space, plenty of parking, and is very open for locals and foreigners.

I’ve been here several times, and it’s always bustling with both locals and tourists. The restaurant is located on a large and busy street, making it very easy to find and convenient for parking. The portions are great too—just one bag per person is enough for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I’ll definitely come back the next time I visit Hue!

We drove 2.5 hours from Da Nang to Hue for a day trip. We starved ourselves and avoided breakfast, in anticipation of eating Bun Bo Hue at its place of origin. We're huge fans of Bun Bo Hue and we had very high expectations. Our driver recommended this place and it was the first stop on our Hue tour. What a fantastic find this was. We ordered the 'Tham Cam' or fully loaded, which came with all the essential cuts of meat that make up a bowl of the famous noodle soup. It was 50k VND, it was generous in both vermicelli noodles and meats. A common misconception about Bun Bo Hue is that it should be spicy from the get go. It is not. The base of the soup should be sweet, heavily scented with lemongrass and have a generous hint of fermented prawn paste, which this soup has copious amounts of. It was a very hearty and deeply flavourful soup. The spiciness comes from adding the home made chilli paste and pickled chilli vinegar. You add the chilli paste slowly until the spice level is right. It's a really nice chilli paste, not the best I've had, but really good and compliments the dish. It was fantastic, 4 bowls of the special bun bo hue devoured. A special mention to the nem and cha they had, specially made in banana leaves. It was so good we ate and then took away more. You can't get this stuff and at these small prices. We were eating it until evening. Made a great snack. This is a great place if you want really good, hearty Bun Bo Hue. Highly recommended.

Worst experience eating in Vietnam so far. They served a “tourist” version of bun bo hue. When I pointed this out, they threw in a couple more toppings but this STILL was NOT how they served the locals, which included pork trotters. The flavours were not anything memorable either and the soup was room temperature, so really they have no redeeming factors. AVOID

No prices displayed. We walk in and lady charged 65,000 vdn for a bowl of bun bo. Go to Bà Gai next door. They charge half price for the same.

It’s ok if you pass by and wanna stop over for a bowl of Bun Bo Hue, but not a must-try place. To me, the Bun Bo is ok, it doesn’t have a very strong taste so it might be good for foreigners. Reasonable toppings. The price might be high for local but I think it’s ok for tourists, cuz Bun Bo in Saigon, for example, have similar price. I like the fact that the beef and pork leg are soft enough. Mình order tô thập cẩm, phần thịt cũng nhiều, nước vị nhẹ thanh. Ăn ổn.

It’s convenient for travelers or night owls who want something more than fast food after dark. Overall, a decent choice for a late, local bite, especially if you value kind service and need something quick and satisfying.

Very busy place mostly because it's cheap and has a lot of seating. Parking directly in front is limited for the amount of people there. You can park motorbikes on the opposite side of the road as well. It's very noisy there and the shouts to call the food orders. They service fairly quickly. I ordered Cơm Hến (miniature mussels) which are only found around this region. I didn't even see them in the bowl since they're small to begin with and even smaller when cooked. The other items were sides. Most of the food in Hue is typically bland to begin with. Culturally this region eats bland. The food isn't bad and it's not spectacular. It's good cheap food. I would give this place 3.5 stars mostly for good service.

A Huế local specialty that you must try. We were recommended to try this place by our Grab driver. The service was very nice. The lady recommended to us what to order and she showed us how to eat it. The dishes bursted with a lot of flavour. The atmosphere was alright but the cutlery and the tables needed a bit of a clean.

Com Hen (boiled clam with rice) eatery, with clam rice noodles, clam porridge and lots of local desserts. Clam porridge is really tasty, can taste the sweetness of the clams. Ram It rice cake and banh nam (rice cake with pork and shrimp) is also good. The place is along the river and very rustic and simple. Resident dogs are sweet too. Ended up coming twice.

Com Hen is a famous Hue specialty made with baby clams, herbs, and rice. The taste is refreshing, flavorful, and unforgettable. Eating it in a small local shop gave me an authentic experience. It was truly delicious, and I’ll definitely suggest my friends to try Com Hen when in Hue.

Clearly states 12k a bowl on the menu. Ordered 2 bowls and lady ask for 30k. Fantastic math skills. I mean ok, it was only a 6k scam and you can laugh at it, but it’s not about the amount, but the dishonesty. It just a bad taste in the mouth. Best to let it go and not argue with these kind of people and move on with life. And it wasn’t even really good. Good thing I saw the menu or maybe she would ask 100 or 200k or even 400k like they did to another foreign patron. Who knows with these kind of people. If you’re a foreigner coming here, just keep that in mind.

Had a wonderful experience here, the tailor was really experienced and recommended colours and fabrics suitable for my skin tone and the style of dress I wanted. The price was reasonable, and I got my dress in less than 24 hours. Would highly recommend!

Best experience ever! They are all super nice, and really patient! We managed to have 5 pieces made in 1 day, with good quality and they did exactly what we had in mind! They have a big variety of colors and styles!

Our local Hue guide brought us to this place as we’d asked about a local tailor shop. The ladies at this shop were super friendly, courteous, and obliging. We got a men’s bush shirt made out of fabric procured elsewhere and another one out of linen that we bought there. Both fit well and turned around in less than 24h. I bought a couple of Ao Dai’s…ready made from the shop. The fit was perfect on one and needed a bit of adjusting on the other. The clothes weren’t cheap but I was also not looking for a deep bargain. I wanted good quality tailoring and fit. Hopefully, the clothes will last us a while!

I bought a made-to-measure silk pyjamas from Gia Huy in February 2024. Initially I was happy with my purchase: while the seams were not very clean, the fabric was nice and the price was reasonable. However, 6 months later the pyjamas started to dissolve (for want of a better word): it developed large holes in several places - see the attached photos. If I had bought the pyjamas locally, I would demand a refund.

Excellent tailors and staff! I was recommended here by a friend who comes to Hue often. They did a fantastic job creating beautiful dresses from photos that I gave them, and additionally made me a suit and altered some pants and shirts. I highly recommend this store!

I had such a great experience at Gia Huy tailor. I highly recommend them. The ladies in the shop were so friendly and helpful. Unfortunately I didn't get the name of the lady who helped me, but she was really sweet and spoke very good English. I took forever to decide on colors and the staff patiently helped me. And then my clothes were ready the same day with one fitting. I got a top and pants for about $60usd. Also the ladies did a bunch of alterations on my own clothes for me and it was extremely cheap and fast. I wish I'd had more time in Hue because I would definitely get more things made by them!!
