Restaurant
Empanadillas El Gordo is a popular spot known for its savory half-moon shaped turnovers that can be filled with various ingredients and are available baked or fried. These Puerto Rican empanadillas are similar to empanadas but have a thicker outer crust. The menu offers a variety of fillings including ground beef, chicken, and even pizza. The place is recommended for its tasty, large, and affordable empanadillas, making it a great option for breakfast or lunch.
Delicious meat and pizza flavored empanadillas (turnovers) by the San Juan Bay on the Cataño-side are worth the stop for sure!😋

Go eat here. It's the best Empanadillas I had in Puerto Rico. Tasty, large, and cheap this is a much better option if your touring Casa Bacardi. At El Gordo you can go get two empanadillas and drinks for about 10 bucks. Perfect for breakfast or lunch if your on that side of the bay. Cash only though,so bring a twenty it's worth it.
Kenneth B — Google review
The place is amazing. The food is delivered quickly. Everything is delicious! They also provide hot sauce at the counter.

Best empanidilla in PR, the only ones you are going to find from cubed steak and cheese. Locals favorite is the STEAK and CHEESE, is the bomb. Dont miss out.
Eileen T — Google review
Extremely quick service and the food was delicious. Super affordable and It’s just a little local stand and we loved it. Pretty spot by the ocean to eat as well.
Nicole M — Google review
First time here. I didn't find anything outstanding. I ordered an empanadilla de pizza, my friend ordered a bistec and cheese, my mom ordered a beef one and my grandma ordered a chicken with lettuce and tomatoes. Everyone was satisfied with their orders. Everything was good but again nothing outstanding.
Jackie R — Google review
Fast, quick, and delicious service. You've gotta go early they're mostly a neighborhood spot for locals. Empanadillas of just about everything chicken, beef, pizza, and you can have them open it and add cheese or salad. Recommend adding both. Cheap too.

Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant
Marmalade is a stylish restaurant in San Juan known for its international menu and creative dishes. Chef Peter Schintler has crafted an ingredient-driven menu that combines local flavors with global influences, featuring dishes like ceviche paired with tostones and vegan poblanos rellenos atop spicy black beans and mole. The restaurant offers tasting menus ranging from five to 14 courses, with the option of a plant-based menu.
We were on our honeymoon and decided to splurge. So glad we did! Best meal of my life! First off the service was impeccable. They truly made you feel like a king. They knew it was a honeymoon dinner and brought us champagne and even a signed poster at the end with well wishes on it! The head chef and owner tries to make his rounds and talk to every table and tell you a little bit about the food. We did the tasting menu with the wine pairing. My favorite course was the famous white bean soup. My least favorite was the lamb meatballs, but they were still good. Every course was extremely flavorful and the perfect amount of food and wine. Worth every cent.
Anthony L — Google review
We had the most amazing honeymoon experience here — everything about it was great including the staff, the atmosphere, the attention to detail, and the food and drinks were unbelievable! A complete culinary experience. Every dish ended up being my favorite dish. At the end of our 5 courses the staff even hand wrote us a congratulations card for our honeymoon and it was hand signed by everyone. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone celebrating a special occasion because they go above and beyond to make you feel special :)
Adrianna B — Google review
From the moment you walk in, the passion of the staff is unmistakable. Service is warm, attentive, and genuinely rooted in a love for food. The menu is both creative and thoughtful, showcasing ingredients sourced from local producers wherever possible. Every dish feels like a celebration of flavor and craft, executed with pride and precision. A phenomenal dining experience that blends hospitality, innovation, and a true sense of place.

Incredible time as had been our previous visit. Service was excellent, the entire staff clearly works as a team to deliver an impecable experience every step of the way. The food was all outstanding and our server gave excellent suggestions. Everyone acknowledged that we were repeat guests and they also brought out a small appetizer on the house as our reservation from the previous evening had to be rescheduled as they didn’t have water due to no fault of their own. We dined here last year when we came to Puerto Rico and this was probably the thing we were looking forward to the most on our return visit this year. The fluke crudo was definitely one of the best things that I’ve ever eaten in my life and both me and my girlfriend are big foodies. Amazing restaurant in every aspect possible, definitely recommend and will be back. Thank you!
Norm V — Google review
Every bite was immaculate and surprising. At one moment, I felt transported to a quiet street in Italy with handmade pasta so delicate and flavorful it could’ve come from a local Tuscan kitchen. The next, I was reminded of home in Maine—seafood so fresh it tasted as though it had just come off the boat. Marmalade offers a luxurious experience without being overdone; the service was warm, attentive, and perfectly elevated. My husband and I ordered completely different courses and were equally impressed with each dish from start to finish. Every plate was thoughtful, beautifully presented, and full of depth. As a special touch for our honeymoon, they decorated our table with rose petals and made us feel like royalty. Meeting the chef at the end of the evening was the perfect finale—he was gracious, passionate, and genuinely kind. This is a restaurant that knows how to craft a memorable experience.
Nadia A — Google review
This is an amazing fine dining experience. Took my wife for her bday. This is truly an amazing place with amazing food, servers and Chef de Rang. The white bean soup it’s so tasty and delicious, they actually have already printed copies of the recipe available to the guests. We felt welcome and each plate and wines were explained to us. I had mistakenly consumed the garnished Fresno pepper and the Chef de Rang move quickly to get a fresh antidote 😂 of cold sweet wine to calm the spiciness and it worked perfectly. A 5 course meal for a party of two could range anywhere from $450 and up.
John V — Google review
We’ve had beautiful meals all over the world with celebrated and Michelin chefs. This was the best meal we’ve ever had. EVER A few hours before our arrival I had a friendly call to check on preferences, allergies and restrictions. But this phone call felt different - it was casual but professional, welcoming, funny, and warm. We like to make early reservations so we can watch the energy change as guests fill the space. I recommend it just to visit with the knowledgeable and interesting front of house. Upon entry you’re surrounded with subtle elegance and, as you observe, more and more the elegance grows. While walking to our table I was handed a pashmina - but didn’t need it because the temperature of the dining room was perfect. A simple but much appreciated touch. The purse tables were also stunning and artfully crafted. I mentioned that we were celebrating a wedding anniversary. Each member of the team sincerely wished us happy anniversary as we walked in and all evening. The service is top-notch. Attentive without being overbearing. Each team member knew the menu and how to recommend dishes. The pre-fixe menu is a masterclass in culinary creativity. Every dish is beautifully presented with a sleight of hand table reset at each passing. Again, attention to every tiny detail is priority. Takes a long time to get to this… the cocktails are inventive, complex yet whimsical. And finally getting to the food… wow. Just wow. The flavors exploded on the palate. It’s evident that each course is crafted with care, using the freshest ingredients with unique flavors that work so well together you wonder why you haven’t seen it before. Every bite felt both familiar and exotic at the same time. This food brought my tastebuds into focus - couture for the mouth. We were both rendered speechless multiple times. From start to finish, the entire meal is a journey. Couldn’t possibly pick a favorite course. We were in a lovely corner booth with a giant pile of pillows. Near the final course I understood the need for the pillows as we were left in a state of bliss. I threw myself into them and took some deep breaths. Marmalade isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just treating yourself to an exceptional night out, this is a place where the food and service will exceed your expectations. Highly recommend come hungry and ready to be treated to exceptional service.
Jennifer V — Google review
Had an amazing time at Marmalade! The food was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor — you can tell a lot of care goes into every dish. The service was super friendly and fast, and the vibe of the place is just perfect for a night out. Everything from the drinks to dessert was on point. Definitely one of the best spots I’ve been to lately. Can’t wait to come

Caribbean restaurant
Barrachina is a historic indoor-outdoor venue located in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is renowned as the birthplace of the world-famous Pina Colada, which was created by Don Ramon Portas Mingot in its magnificent courtyard back in 1963. The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring Spanish, Puerto Rican, and international dishes that cater to every palate. Whether you're craving traditional local specialties or familiar international cuisine, Barrachina has something wonderful for everyone.
The food was absolutely amazing!!! First time in Puerto Rico and I would highly recommend. The staff was very welcoming and helped us with food selections. It was my First time eating Mofongo and I would tell everyone to try it! It’s a very hardy dish that reminds you of Homemade mash potatoes but better!
Freddie J — Google review
There's construction going on but still made the best of it. We are on a cruise and stopped in San Juan and was suggested this restaurant. The garlic shrimp was delicious. Pina Coladas were good very pineapple tasting. We also tried the Puerto Rican Delight. The empamadas looking things were good and the corn sticks were yummy. We were not a fan of the croquettes but that could be just us.
Ashley L — Google review
Barra China in Old San Juan is a good place to drink a cold and delicious piña colada at a reasonable price. The food was just ok and nothing to brag about, but tasty! I’ve always liked the tropical 🌴 atmosphere at Barra China, but after years and years of visiting this bar/restaurant I think that some remodeling and updates to the venue will bring in more business. The piña colada recipe continues to be the star ⭐️ of the show and the service friendly as always. See you soon BC! 🇵🇷
Alicia M — Google review
We tried their famous piña coladas—they were good, though I was hoping for a thicker, creamier texture. The appetizers were solid overall, but the standout was definitely the stuffed plantains. They were packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. A tasty start to the meal in a lively atmosphere.
Margarita S — Google review
Fun to try the first Pina Colada. We ordered food too and I would NOT order the skirt steak. I'm not sure what it was marinated with but we couldn't even take a bite and ended up paying for a full uneaten plate. We also had the seafood Mofungo. It wasn't my favorite but the seafood was decent. We did like the appetizer plate (2 person portion was easily split by 5). The staff were sweet and friendly! Nice little gift shop next door too.
Bree K — Google review
They were under construction, so I imagine the atmosphere will be amazing soon but was just ok for us. Food was good but not exceptional. Pina coladas are as good as expected for the reputation.
Crystal T — Google review
We went for the piña colada and it was good. They were closing so we were only allowed to get it to go. I felt like I was drinking my mom’s fermented pineapple juice extract. I think it was because it was the original, the bar tender couldn’t explain to us the meaning of the taste of it because to us it was different from other ones we had.
Ingrid H — Google review
If you come here stick to the Pina colada drinks!!! Read more and you’ll find out why. Let’s start with the outside, gorgeous exterior, great photo opportunities. We walked inside and waited for the hostess. We debated whether on grabbing drinks to go vs enjoying drinks at the bar but it was crowded. After waiting a couple of minutes at the to go bar we decided to dine in. Service was still slow at the dining area and the waitress made a comment that she would not be able to greet our table anytime soon since she had other tables. We were there for almost 20minutes or so before we were able to place our order. Eventually she greeted our table and she was fairly pleasant. Of course we ordered Pina coladas which were absolutely delicious. My homegirl is a slow drinker and surprisingly she finished her drink before me! The tostones with pollo and plantanos with mariscos were decent. It lacked flavor but for the price and how hungry we were at that moment we still ate it.

Restaurant
Cocina Abierta, which translates to "open kitchen," is a cosmopolitan restaurant in San Juan led by Argentine chef Martin Louzao. The restaurant offers innovative tasting menus with wine pairings and cocktails, emphasizing pan-Latin cuisine with influences from the Caribbean to the Mediterranean. What sets Cocina Abierta apart is its interactive experience for diners, as it features an open kitchen where guests can watch the talented kitchen staff prepare diverse creations.
While in Puerto Rico we wanted to support the movement for food sovereignty through sustainable farm to table dining. Cocina Abierta was a wonderful experience with a vegan tasting menu option. My husband and stepson both agreed that the vegan dishes were truly the best, they did the menu very well. Nice cocktail menu as well, good service, we had a lovely evening.
Lynette K — Google review
We arrived earlier than our reservation time and they seated us immediately. The bartender was generous with his pours; the drink tasted delicious and was worth the price. Most places they charge you a lot but there's so little alcohol in the cocktail. Not here. The food was phenomenal! Five course dinner and each course was a full serving. We couldn't eat it all but we definitely tried. This is one of those restaurants that even when you're full, you still keep eating because the food is SO good!! I seriously recommend coming in hungry because this chef will make sure you leave completely satisfied.
Kait — Google review
We had a fantastic time at Cocina Abierta, we did the 5-course menu & it was a fabulous representation of elevated traditional cuisine. The wine selection is also great and well priced, and we are very appreciative of Oné who took amazing care of us. We will be back!

You can just walk in to enjoy a nice meal or attend one of their experience events where you can try an amazing selection of unique dishes. They are very good making accommodations for allergies and will provide options to substitute an ingredient or the whole plate with a delicious dish.

Nice experience since arriving here. Parking 🅿️ available near to the restaurant. The host is Very nice. We had the best waiter Christopher. He explain the concept, the service was 10/10. thanks 🙏🏽 Christopher!!. Recommend the experience. I went there to celebrate my husband birthday 🎉 and was grateful! The chef design a delicious meal and nice presentation.

A uniquely wonderful dining experience from start to finish. Each dish was a feast for the senses and everyone we interacted with was gracious and kind. The highlights for me were the duck mofongo and the “wildcard” cocktail made by the incredibly talented in-house mixologist, Rafael. This was such a special evening and I hope to return someday!
Marilyn F — Google review
I made a last minute reservation here (day before) and while it did require credit card information and come with a cancellation fee, there were still good dining time options available (18:30). I loved the structure of the menu before I even arrived. You have the option to effectively create a cost-efficient “combo” by picking an item from each “act” on the menu for a $85 5-course meal. You can also order Ala carte. You can also order one 5-course combo and add a couple Ala carte options. We went with two adults and one child and ordered one course and 5 items ala carte. We ordered the croquettes, empanadas, and sweet potato naan from the prologue section, all of which were delicious. From the main menu, we ordered the crudo, the snook, gnocchi, beef steak, duck mofongo, wahoo, and cacao dessert. Our favorites were the sweet potato naan (we ordered two servings), the snook, the beef steak, and the duck mofongo. I love experiencing multiple flavors and textures in one bite and all of these dishes offered that. The naan came with three different sauces (my favorite was the honey butter). The snook had two different sauces and capers and edible flowers. The beef steaks came with crispy onions, plantain balls, and pineapple vinegarette. And the mofongo was so smooth, paired with a consume and guava hoisin marinated duck. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and accommodating as well as kid-friendly. Service was super quick - we were in and out of there in 1 hour and 15min, even after ordering additional food after we finished our first round of orders. The total came out to $200 before tip for 2 adults and 1 child. It was still very quiet around 18:30 but started picking up from around 19:00-19:30. There’s also a parking lot right next to the restaurant for $7, which was very convenient.
Ehatss F — Google review
This had to be my absolute most favourite meal and restaurant we went to during our stay in San Juan! It was 10/10 with absolutely everything from the locally sourced ingredients, to the unique cocktails, spectacular service, and the flavourful and well thought out out courses - or Acts as they are called on the menu! We opted for the 5 course tasting menu, and were not disappointed with any of our selections!!! From the Rainbow Runner Crudo, to the Breadfruit gnocchi, and Croillo Duck Mofungo - EVERYTHING was amazing! I’ve never been a huge fan of gnocchi- but I honestly could eat the gnocchi from Cocina Abierta every day without complaint!! The ambience in the restaurant is stunning — and definitely makes it a restaurant that you can go to for date nights, special celebrations or whenever you feel deserving of a treat!! Next time I visit San Juan, I will definitely be back!

Cafeteria
Breakfast restaurant
Restaurant
Cafetería Mallorca is a charming throwback to the 1950s, offering a cozy diner-style experience in San Juan. This spot is renowned for its signature dish, the Mallorca - a sweet and fluffy buttery egg bread sprinkled with powdered sugar. The café opens at 7:00 a.m., welcoming locals and visitors alike to savor this traditional Puerto Rican delight.
The place has a very casual and laid-back vibe. There’s nothing particularly unique about the atmosphere, and most of the staff are middle-aged, which gives it a homey feel. If you're looking to try a local breakfast in San Juan, this was definitely the best spot for us. I'll share photos of the menu below to give you an idea. We tried the mollarco, and it was very tasty. I had the plain one, and it was perfect with coffee — highly recommended! My husband had the cheese-filled version, which was also good, but we both preferred the plain one. Overall, it’s a nice spot for a simple and authentic local breakfast. Definitely worth a visit!

WOW! All I have to say. This place was all over my page online so I decided to give it a try. Everything was so fresh I was blown away. The bread was to die for highly recommend. One last thing to add our server was great.
Dave’s C — Google review
Don’t even have the words to describe this place. I have been thinking about my Mallorca with eggs and swiss ever since I walked out the door after paying. I immediately searched where I can get mallorcas in the city I live in once I’m back. Our waiter was the best part of this restaurant he was so edgy and hilarious but still kind and tended to our needs before we even asked. The pastries were incredible, the drinks were great, and the vibe was 10/10. It’s such a shame there are no local PR restaurants like this in my city, I’m craving my order again 😭
Nina H — Google review
Loved it, service is a little slower but it seems like an very older gentleman takes orders & serves the food by himself. Seating is limited and my advice is if you see an open table go ahead and seat yourself, even if the table is not cleaned, the older gentleman will clean it. It seems like he knows who has recently sat down. The food was delicious, my wife & I each got a ham, egg, & cheese mallorca and we both loved them. I also had French fries which were very fresh & hot (so hot I had to wait a little bit for them to cool down). My wife got a papaya shake which she couldn't stop telling me about how good it was and kept offering me some. I recommend this place but get there early because again Seating is limited. The price was very generous, for 2 ham, egg, & cheese mallorca, French fries, a papaya shake, a 12 oz sprite, 2 16 oz dasani bottle water and tax came to a little over $20 . The decor needs some work but the food is so delicious you barely notice, this is a very mom & pop establishment. If you're in Old San Juan or San Juan or heck in Puerto Rico I definitely suggest you go here.
Matbleek — Google review
Mallorca ham, egg, cheese was very tasty. The pork with rice and beans was a good value at 13.95. The service was slow but it is island time, take your time and enjoy. Practice your Spanish before coming, our waiter and person checking us out only spoke Spanish.
Sarah L — Google review
If you're looking to visit Cafeteria Mallorca, the key is to get their early. Seating is limited, and it can be tough to find a place. That said, it is worth planning and making it work. We arrived at around 8:30 AM and got one of few tables left for our family of four. A cruise ship had arrived that day and we watched a pretty steady stream of cruisers wander in from that point forward. Because of the busyness, service was a bit slow. Not really the fault of any of the servers, just the nature of place. But when the food arrived, there was little "happy dances" around our table as everyone tasted what we ordered. We kept it pretty basic by ordering two different sandwiches: Mallorca w/ ham and cheese & Mallorca w/bacon and cheese. They weren't much to look at, but they were some of the tastiest little things. So tasty, in fact, we attempted to remake them in our AirBnB for the next two mornings. An important thing to note - if you're looking for a place to hide from the heat, this won't be the place. Food was great, but it was a bit stuffy sitting there. You acclimate and it doesn't detract from the food, but it isn't the cold blast that you find in other places.
Adam F — Google review
Great food, quick service, fair price! Loved the Mallorca and fresh squeezed orange juice. Coffee was delicious and strong (made in a very cool old machine). Would love to go back for pastries! Get there early if you don’t want to wait
Abby W — Google review
This place was not worth the wait at all!! Definitely over hyped from tik tok. Staff was nice but this place was so cringe it looked almost abandoned inside. I’m scared to know what the kitchen looked like if the front was that falling apart. Food was ok and cheap and hope they remodel from all the extra customers.

Restaurant
Santaella is a stylish restaurant located in Santurce, offering a blend of tapas, main dishes, and innovative cocktails within an industrial-style space. The dining room overlooks an interior garden and features a contemporary design. Chef Jose Santaella brings his expertise from working with renowned names like Ferran Adria and Eric Ripert to create upscale market-driven cocina criolla. Guests can enjoy this elevated local cuisine for lunch at affordable prices or visit in the evening for cocktails and small plates.
10/10 dining experience. Sat at the bar with my husband to celebrate our first anniversary. Lucky for us, they had our favorite wine on their wine list so we started the night with a bottle. Our dishes arrived in a steady manner, and everything we ate was incredible. Service was spectacular, and we were very well attended to.

Santaella was hands down the best dining experience we had in San Juan. Every dish was bursting with flavor and presented magnificently, the cocktails were delicious and balanced, and the service was warm, attentive, and genuine. The atmosphere is vibrant yet intimate, making it feel special without being stuffy. Yes, it’s pricier than most spots in San Juan, but the quality easily matches Michelin-level restaurants in NYC. Absolutely worth every penny and HIGHLY recommended!

Finally was able to make a reservation this past Saturday. We were sat immediately and Julian was our server. We started with drinks. My brother had the Paper Plane which he enjoyed and I had the Tamarind Margarita. We ordered half the menu and the standouts were the shrimp bao buns, jamon croquetas, goat cheese truffle honey quesadilla for appetizers. The entrees also met our expectations. My shrimp trifongo was creamy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. My hubby's NY strip steak was cooked to temperature and my brother said his fried chillo was the best he's ever had. The vibe when we entered (about 7pm)was weird since they were playing like elevator music but towards the end closer to 9pm they started playing house music. Was hoping they would dim the lights a little as the night progressed but it remained very bright in the dining room. Aside from that minor grievance, we had a very positive experience. Thank you Santaella.

So reservations were made for 5 ppl at 10:30PM but seems like they don’t have a time limit on how long people can spend on a table simple because and we spent over 25-30 mins waiting on a table…. At the beginning the experience was not it honestly, especially when you are hungry and the last reservation of the night. So it started off rocky and then when seated certain food items were not available, I really wanted to be optimistic and really give them a chance sooo here it goes… what made it special was a couple of things its right next to La placita, very busy yet fun to go fine dining and party afterwards. However, for me was ambience it was busy but the jazz music really gives the vibes a flow. Even though certain food were not available the waiters provide us with other options to select of seafood, appetizers, red meat. The Chorizo empanadilla delicious, filled with chorizo and maduro. The GOAT quesadilla was what won my heart, so delicious and flavorful with goat cheese over arugula, drizzled writhing a sweet syrup yummy. Popcorn chicken with a sweet curry was good too. But after being told the pastel on was no longer available the chef decided to make us one from scratch and let me tell you IT DID NOT Disappoint! It was delicious, the maduros were smashed in perfect texture, ugh reminds my oh my grandmas pastel on. Let just say it made the beginning of the experience forgetting. The Service very friendly and on top. Even though we did catch a dish that was a bit dirty but that didn’t stop us from getting drinks, which were great and strong.

A bit disappointed. I feel this place is overrated. Nice location, good ambiance, but the food was just OK. Probably good for drinks and meeting people, but from a food quality perspective, I've been in other places in this town that in my opinion are much better for the price you pay. Service was cordial but a bit slow. We got couple of appetizers and one main dish to share but it took almost 2hrs to go through it. Only highlight of the night was the Goat Cheese Quesadilla, flavorful and the White Truffle oil gave it a good dimension. The popcorn chicken was ok, but won't be memorable. And we felt the Lacón Asado (Braised Pork) was too dry, and the caramelized part was not enough to balance it. It felt like a holiday dish that needed a cherry compote, or a cranberry sauce to complement it. For dessert they didn't have the Baked Alaska but we got an alternative Caramel Cake with flambeed meringue, but unfortunately it was extremely sweet. Desserts need a balance too.

The food and drinks were an absolute 10/10. Very unique flavors that work amazing together. Highly recommend the calamari appetizer and pork belly entree! Unfortunately, we did not have the best service during our dinner. Our server was not very attentive to take our orders and it took almost an hour for our entrees. I had told the host that it is my partner’s birthday and if they did something. He said he would tell our server and they brought out whipped cream in a ramekin with a candle…for the price and class of the restaurant - I expected so much better. I would have no problem paying for dessert if they had told me we had to get something.

Exceptional experience!! So great we were blessed to eat here 2 nights in a row!! Our flight was very late getting in and most restaurants closing, but Reinaldo found us 2 seats at the bar. We had grilled octopus appetizer and the seabass entree. The flavors were devine!! Jonathan at the bar has a real talent mixing the exotic cocktails that are offered. He was also very kind and helpful to suggest different dinner and drink options. The service here is exceptional. The second night we loved the ahi pops and tried an ages Puerto Rican rum tasting. Such a beautiful place with magical food and drinks and kind people. Thank you so much. I can’t wait to try out my new cookbook.

We got reservations for Santaella because we heard it was supposed to be amazing. Upon arrival we realized they gave us reservations for Azeteo even though the reservation clearly showed Santaella, which is still the same owners but their menu is significantly different with way less options. We ordered a good amount of food and it tasted good. The portions were small and the prices were on average for higher end food. Overall the meal was fine we were just looking forward to the Santaella menu!

La Casita de Rones is a historic restaurant in Old San Juan that offers delicious food and drinks. It's perfect for Instagram Photos because of its beautiful setting and the cruise ships passing by. Unfortunately, there are no offers currently available.
Such a beautiful restaurant with great scenery, especially outside overlooking the water! Our waitress was very attentive and gave great recommendations as it was our first time here. The piña colada is so creamy and delicious, 10/10 have to try and the espresso martini was really smooth too! The starters we ordered were all very solid, Fried Cheese 8.5/10 really different cheese texture but so good. Rum Glazed Chicken Wings, great flavor 9/10. Firecracker Pork Dumplings had an incredible sauce 9/10! For entree's we got the Chicken Stuffed Mamposteao and Skirt Steak and wow the portions were so big! Both were very solid, overall I'd highly recommend checking out this place!

My boyfriend and I were excited to try this restaurant after seeing the reviews but we were disappointed. The food was good but nothing to rave about. Our waiter was so sweet and always checked up on us. Unfortunately, what ruined it for us was the managers attitude towards us when he saw 4-5 pigeons attack our table and eat our food within seconds of it being placed in front of us. We were told "next time just shoo them away they are just hungry" and he acted like it was an inconvenience to remake our food. Won't be back

While we didn’t wait to be seated we did sit for a good 10-15 minutes before we had to personally stop a server to ask for drinks and menus. Once we did that service was quick and our server was great. Everyone in my party got different dishes and I wasn’t overly impressed with mine (the rum chicken with fried plantains) but the skirt steak my friend got was delicious. The rice and beans were also delicious. The atmosphere was very cute and the water views were nice but the sun was a bit blinding on the back patio even being under the flower ceiling they have. No fault of theirs just something to be mindful of depending on the time of day you visit.

Definitely go for the Ambience and service, the look and feel were great, cocktails for sure…. NOW IF YOUR HUNGRY go somewhere else, the food was poor my daughter and I had two plates of the Chicharron de pollo (fried chicken chunks) and it the chicken was fried maybe a day or two days before it was dry and bland. Wife had the Carne the Cerdo frita (fried pork chunks) with Rice and beans, the side was miles ahead of the protein again not fresh and over cooked, dry and bland. Only saving grace was my son who had the Rum glazed wings those looked and tasted fresh, plumpy and the glaze was great….

Enjoyed almost all the food. Service was amazing and actually authentic to be right by the port and a tourist grab spot. Drink were exceptional! Amazing view when seating outside at the bar.

This was our first time visiting La Casita de Rones in Old San Juan and it was a good experience. The back patio is great as it overlooks the ocean and overall has a nice vibe. The food was good, pictured is the Fish Tacos and the chicken breast dinner. The drinks were also good, but had to be put in plastic cups due to a water shortage issue. Overall a good experience and we would visit again.

Had a rum old fashioned and the skirt steak tacos, for an appetizer we had Firecracker dumplings. The food was delicious, tons of flavor. How we described it amongst our group, the food was cooked with pride and soul, the chicken was juicy and crispy, the steak was tender and full of flavor. The rice with our friend’s dishes was seasoned and full of flavor, was worth the wait for our food.

Stopped by this bar at La Casita (pink) in Old San Juan with the intention of enjoying a nice cocktail before taking the ferry to Cataño for dinner. My husband and I felt that we were being totally ignored and not welcome by the woman bartending. She placed two glasses of cold waters in front of us without saying a word. We ask for two mojitos and she insisted that we download the menu before serving us drinks. She then went on chatting, more like flirting away with a customer that looked like he’d had enough! The prices are ridiculously high and I’m sure that she’s not a talented mixologist, so thank you lady for ignoring us, because we saved our money and went to a much better place…Nono’s Bar 🙌🏽🍹🥰

La Factoría is a vibrant hangout with a rustic-chic vibe that has gained international acclaim for its excellent cocktails and classic bar bites. It's a local favorite in Puerto Rico, known for introducing mixology to the island. The bar consists of four different spaces, each with its own theme, including a room filled with rum-fueled dancers and a DJ playing until late. The middle space features old-school salsa music and boasts one of the best dance floors on the island.
It's probably the best cocktail bar I have ever been to. Great vibe. I feel like you're back in the Hemingway error. The bartender was awesome and talented. Made me a paper plane and my wife and lavender mule. Excellent. Highly recommend this place

This was, hands down, our favorite spot in San Juan. We went both in the morning and at night, and both experiences were amazing. The bartenders were incredibly kind and professional — they prepared our cocktails right in front of us, based on personal recommendations, and really made us feel special. The cocktails were absolutely fantastic. We tried several different ones, and each had its own unique and delicious flavor. The atmosphere is that of a stylish, elegant bar — I’ll share some photos! Whether you’re looking to relax after a long, hot day or wind down after a night out, this is the best bar in Old San Juan. Highly, highly recommended!
Tuğçe K — Google review
Oh my god, La Factoría with live salsa completely blew my mind! The vibe, the dancing, the music — it’s all just incredible. Definitely a place you can’t miss. The cocktails are excellent, and it’s such a cool experience discovering hidden little bars behind different doors. It does get really hot inside, but honestly, I had an amazing time and would go back in a heartbeat.

I went to dance at this place with my friends because everyone recommended it. It did nit disappoint. It 's located in Old San Juan. Every room in this 2 story building has a bar with a different theme and music, so you can walk around from room to room and enjoy different types of music rhythms like Salsa, techno, reggaeton, techno, etc. The salsa room was packed with people dancing. It seemed like a good combination of locals and tourists.
Yarleny R — Google review
It's somehow highly rated, but not worth the hype. It's kind of different bars all in one place where you can hop on, but becomes costly as you step up! You go here just for the atmosphere, but not for anything else. Cocktails and the food are good and so is the location.
Raghu G — Google review
Reviewed as a bar when looking for delicious drinks this place was ok at best. We arrived close to open and all the additional rooms were closed, so we were told lots of drink options weren’t available. Staff were friendly and service speed was decent. It definitely sounds like this place is a lot of fun at night as basically a club, but definitely not a place for amazing drinks. If you’re looking for great drinks go to Kane Rum Bar. Overall for all the amazing reviews this place was ok, so if you want the best experience for what they offer go at night.
Coach T — Google review
La Factoría has the reputation that it has for very good reason!!! It IS the epicentre of fun, excellent vibes, superb live music and salsa dancing with people at all different levels. We went after finishing a late dinner on a Saturday night, and the vibes that we were hoping for - we received with open arms! There was no long line to get in, and it was definitely crowded inside. Getting drinks wasn’t too crazy of an ordeal — but most importantly, and I cannot stress this enough, it was SUCH an amazing time!!

This bar definitely has a great atmosphere. It has different rooms and each room has its own bar. Music is always on point here; can be loud but you’re still able to talk. It’s a tourist area, prices are according to that. Tip: there’s an area most people don’t know about. Have fun looking for it.

Sazón Cocina Criolla DTMO, located in Distrito T-Mobile, is a Puerto Rican restaurant that offers an authentic culinary experience. The menu features a variety of dishes such as stuffed mofongos, flavorful paella jibara, asopao de camarones (shrimp stew), and Caribbean lobster. The restaurant provides attentive service and delicious food, with the only downside being the loud outdoor environment due to performances.
Good restaurant with amazing food and nice staff. There was a wait and the outside seating does have a view of the T-Mobile district if that’s your thing. Some dishes were pricey but they were also good in the moment. HUGE portions had some left over for the next day. The flavored lemonades were delicious

Ivan our waiter was amazing! Very attentive and helpful. Food was very good. Chuleta Kan Kan is good but a bit hard. Churrasco was very good and tender, done perfectly. Nice atmosphere. Very busy place and food took a while to come out but it was busy especially today that it's Easter. Will be coming back.

Food was decent. My chicken wings were very dry. Service was good. It rained pretty hard while we were eating outside so it was a nice ambiance. Pretty pricy for the food, but that’s the theme of the restaurants in the TMobile district.

Food was good. My favorite thing was the Jibaro rice, it had perfect flavor! We loved the Filete de mero with garlic sauce. My favorite puertorrican food is tostones and the ones they served us tasted like old frozen ones (very bad). Overall the Jibaro ricr was so good I forgat the tostones.
Iriana C — Google review
I was disappointed in the atmosphere it was really nothing to see. This place is located on the TMobile mall in Puerto Rico. The wait for a table this night was crazy over 40 minutes. The food wasn't all that and we ordered just about half of everything on the menu. From the bacalito, to the chueletas and drinks. The fried pork was over fried and it was hard. The rice was probably the best thing on the menu. The decor was kinda cute. I really can't say much about this place because every thing we had was either too salty or over cooked. Thank goodness we had a friend with us who ets everything otherwise it would have all gone to the garbage. But as always go check it out for yourself and write a review. One thing I have to say is Si vas a representar la orgullosa herencia culinaria de la cultura puertorriqueña, ¡sirve y cocina la comida correctamente!

If you’re staying at the Aloft San Juan by the Convention Center, you are in for a treat. Just steps from the hotel's front door is Sazón Cocina Criolla, in the heart of Distrito T-Mobile. Whether you're solo or with a group of friends, this restaurant and the location are a great choice and offer a variety of traditional dishes. I started out with an Empanadilla de Pernil for my appetizer. This was a first for me as I usually get this with beef, but the pernil was a solid recommendation. For my entree, I had Churrasco with Plantanos, which really hit the spot. All of this went along great with a Pina Colada. Salon is located inside the T-Mobile District and is absolutely a great spot to spend some time and unwind. Between the music, the flavors, and the energy, Sazón amounts to more than just a dinner. It’s an absolutely great experience, which is why it is one of my regular spots.

This was our worse dining experience we have ever had on this beautiful Island. Our waitress was Dennise, she rarely checked on our table. Our drinks took about 25 minutes to arrive. It was myself and two teenagers 15 and 17. Our food took an hour to arrive, I ordered stewed cod (horrible it was very fishy tasting I assume the fish was not fresh). My sides were rice and beans (rice was sticky and beans had no taste at all, very bland). I also ordered arepas, they were delicious. Most of our food was left as we couldn't eat it. My granddaughter ordered Sorullos stuffed with cheese and Mini alcapurrias (they were over cooked and hard). The Sorullos were good. My other granddaughter ordered the same as myself (stewed cod) She tried eating it and like me, she didn't like it. She liked the arepas that came with it. Also ordered was Mofongo, very dry, took one bite only, left the rest. I had sweet tea and loved it. The girls had non-alcoholic Pina Colada (they each drank two, they really loved it). I personally will not return here (My bill was $103 I left a $17 tip our server looked at it and walked away. Not even a thank you and I went against my granddaughter's wishes not to tip because our server did not serve our food someone else came plus the fact that she never came back to check on us! Please check the place out for yourselves, you may have a better experience, One thing I can say is that it does not represent the authentic culinary heritage of our Puerto Rican culture that is experienced throughout the Island. The tourist seem to like the place so that's great for the economy. Not worth the money we spent. Very pricy for food we didn't eat. DTMO is a great place and fun time for all members of the family.

Los 3 Cuernos, also known as The Three Horns, is a popular local bar in Old San Juan with a unique and vibrant atmosphere. The walls are adorned with thousands of artistic dollar bills and traditional vejigante masks, creating an eclectic and lively setting. This one-roomed jukebox dive bar is famous for its exotically flavored chichaitos, such as Nutella or guava shots made with Anisette liqueur and rum.
This bar was pretty cool, the bartenders were nice and personable. I got the most basic of basic : vodka soda and a medalla, can't go wrong. Atmosphere is cool, they have a bucket of things to decorate dollar bills with and add them to the wall, we put a T-Shirt shaped dollar up. It's worth the stop :)

Awesome Old San Juan alley bar! I have been to the SJ area a half a dozen times (usually for the day on a cruise, but also for a long weekend), and I always end up here at some point. Just off of Plaza Colón (which is long overdue for a post-colonial rebrand/update; I vote for Pedro Albizu Campos or Roberto Clemente), so it is just a short walk from the cruise terminal. Great mix of locals and tourists (and cruise crew members) and cheap Puerto Rican cervezas and drink/shot specials! The long narrow bar is wallpapered with dollar bills and decorated with Puerto Rican art. Pick up some street food from Plaza Colón (or a mofungo from Yeyos a few doors down) and stop in for a cold Medalla (or 3 or 5).

I went here on March 19th 2023 (2:00 AM). My 5 friends decided to go here since it was late. I really wanted to like it, but sadly I had the worst drink in my life here. A lot of stuff was out of stock that night so we all decided on the passion fruit paprika drink. Not a single one of us enjoyed the drink. It was *inedible*. It had no passion fruit flavor. 0 sweetness. I also specifically asked for no paprika in mine. They didn’t listen. I took one sip and ALL I tasted was bad smoke from the paprika flavor that was overdone. My friend described it as lead. All 6 of us ended up throwing away that drink full. It was a waste of money and time. I’m hesitant to give it a second chance 😞…

This charming little spot in Old San Juan was absolutely adorable! The wall decor was fantastic, adding so much character to the place. The food was delicious, and the coffee was rich with chocolate notes—so flavorful. The espresso martini was one of the best I’ve ever had—smooth, well-balanced, and memorable. This place offers a great variety of food, and the service is excellent. Be sure to try the chocolate grilled cheese and the chocolate burger; they are both creative and fun dishes. The mocha coffee is superb, and brunch here is the best. The ambiance is pleasant, and the overall service was satisfactory.

This was such a unique experience. Who would have thought of a restaurant where everything is served with chocolate…even the burgers…of course the chocolate can be put on the side…. like the spicy chocolate that was served with the plantains. The restaurant was clean, and the food was delicious. However, the service needs help. Our server was Jonathan, and he was less than good. I cannot even say average as we waited a very long time for most of our drinks and food and the restaurant was not even full or busy…so this was a bit concerning. Now if he was new, I pray his service improves with time. Please check out pictures of food we had. The quesito was so delicious. Thanks.

We were intrigued by the idea of having chocolate in all menu items. It somewhat delivered. Our party had Latin smash burger, French toast, and grilled cheese with bacon. The chocolate sauce for the French toast was yum! The service was horrendous. Perhaps the server was new. He bungled the order so the grilled cheese arrived way after the other food. He also charged for the iced Americano even though we canceled it because they could not make it decaf. It was a fun restaurant with good food. I hope they work on training the servers better.

Strong and Delicious! Everyone was super polite and helpful. Multiple people helped us with our family's orders (not everyone could decide what they wanted the 1st time we ordered) they explained our options and were very patient with everyone in our group. 5 Stars For Sure!! **That is More Appreciated Than They Know!!**

Very interesting cuisine. A touch of chocolate in most of the dishes. Unique taste for chocolate lovers. Loved the art exhibit upstairs for a children's foundation.

Fellow travelers, when in Viejo San Juan, please visit Chocobar Cortés, the definitive Puerto Rican chocolate experience. This location is beautifully decorated with images from what seems to be past advertisement campaigns. They even have a wall covered with old metal chocolate moulds. Walk to the back of the seating area to find a display honoring the short stories that used to come packaged with the bars themselves, and a heartfelt letter from a longtime fan and consumer. During our visit, we ordered the following: - Don Ignacio (made with Barrilito 3-Star Rum) - Chocolate Old Fashioned (made with Woodford Reserve Bourbon) - Churros - Quesito Cortés Our favorite drink was the Don Ignacio, which to no surprise, acts as the flagship drink of the establishment. Both glasses were dipped in chocolate that hardened which just added to the beautiful presentation of the cocktail. The excelent service, inviting setting, and quality cocktails and products will certainly make you say: ¡Rico Chocolate Cortés!

Pirilo Pizza Rustica in Old San Juan is a must-visit spot for pizza enthusiasts. The restaurant offers a wide variety of creative pizza toppings and even features a cuatro leches cake on the menu. What sets this place apart is its second-floor seating area, which exudes a different ambiance with dark wood furnishings, vintage photographs, and high-backed seating.
Was looking for a pizzeria and after seeing there reviews decided to give a a try. Definitely worth the trip, ordered a pizza, lasagna and some Robert Mondavi wine. The pizza was amazing . Being born in New York I know a good pizza when I taste it. The place has a nice rustic look and the waitress was amazing as well. This be my pizza spot for sure.

Looked a little shady from the outside but once you go up the stairs the restaurant has the cutest decor throughout! The staff was very attentive and the food was top tier! I had the fried eggplant with plantains and it was fresh and flavorful! My sister had the lasagna, was a little oily due to the cheese but overall it had good taste. My other sister had a pizza, great flavor. My older sister got the breaded chicken breast, it had good flavors but it was a little chewy in some parts. Would come back, enjoyed the experience and food.

Don’t be put off by the dingy staircase entrance — it’s not the most inviting first impression, but once you reach the top, you’ll find a charming little pizza restaurant that’s definitely worth the climb. We had about a 30-minute wait for a table. The staff mentioned they’d call us when our table was ready, but we ended up checking back in after a short walk and were seated upstairs. The service was friendly and efficient, and the food came out in good time. We started with the arugula salad with balsamic dressing — fresh, well-balanced, and delicious. For mains, we ordered the chicken lasagna and a 16-inch pizza. The lasagna was delicious! Super cheesy! The great thing about their pizzas is that you can do half-and-half, so we went with pepperoni on one side and margherita on the other. My husband loved how cheesy the pizza was. I personally thought it could’ve used a touch more salt, but the flavors were still solid. Overall, it’s a great little spot for a casual date night — cozy atmosphere, good service, and tasty food. Don’t judge this one by the entrance!

I have eaten at Pirilo but at the Dorado location and this Pirilo was a bit disappointing since the pizza was very thin like a sheet of paper both my pizza and my daughters, if I were to visit again it would only be in the Dorado location. Sad I like to help the local businesses but you know what you are serving before it get to the table. This is the only positive I took. the restaurant has a very nice setup

Don’t be shocked by the entrance. At first we were not impressed by the service. We waited quite a bit to even place a drink order. When we finally did, and had been waiting our waiter came back and asked what we ordered for drinks? I was like this is bad, so that order never got placed. Another 20 minutes, finally order calamares and our pizza La Pampa 10”. The couple next to us, was leaving and asked what was taking our food so long and stated he would send over his favorite go to person there. That’s when the evening got so much better. Carlos was our savior and was so kind/polite. He took care of us and didn’t disappoint. Thank you Carlos for taking such good care of us. The carrot cake was excellent. We will definitely be back and ask for Carlos.

Definitely top notch pizza! We arrived to find a line of ten people deep outside the door of the restaurant. It took about 30 minutes to get seated once we got our name on the list. Staff were friendly and service was fast. Their prices were average for the area. We got two pizzas and each was packed full of flavor. Overall it was worth the wait as the all the food was delicious!

I heard really great things about this pizza place so I decided to try it out while in Old San Juan. Here’s my thoughts. The pizza itself (while took some time however it was a busy Sunday night so that’s expected) was amazing. One of the best I’ve had so far while living on the island. We got the mushroom pizza and while it’s not my favorite, I loved it. I would absolutely get it again. The service was a little lacking. Our server got us drinks and then stopped back after we were all done and wanted the check. I would have to say it’s a close 5 stars however the service would have checked all the boxes.

The food was really good. I had pepperoni pizza. My friend had the dish with sausage and fried cheese. Our server was polite. She agreed to move us when we asked not to sit by the kitchen.

Orozco's Restaurant is a local puerto rican restaurant that serves traditional dishes in a down-to-earth atmosphere. The menu includes items such as sweet plantains, octopus mofongo, filete de tilapia with rice and pigeon peas, pasta with marinara sauce, and vegetable plate. If you're vegan or vegetarian, there are some options here. Orozco's is a great place to celebrate someone's birthday.
The staff were super friendly, and their recommendations were spot-on. We tried the mofongo and a mixed dish—both were delicious. I especially loved the jazz musician; he played some great tunes and added such a fun vibe to the place. Highly recommend!

Very disappointed my wife has been talking about this place weeks before we got here. So we went in ordered 2 whole red snapper meals and shrimp empanadas the empanadas were fantastic believe it or not the hot sauce that they clean to be the best in town really was but the red snapper was 100% the worst I’ve ever had when the waiter came and asked everything was he could tell by the look at our face that we were very disappointed and we told him it was extremely overcooked to the point you had to use a knife to cut it. And not seasoned at all. We had to cover it with the hot sauce. The killer part was the water said,” I saw it when it came out and I knew it was over cooked!!!” The why did you search it??????? They discounted 15 bucks and gave us a bottle of hot sauce…..

Faat service and good food is what you'll get when you dine here. I was directed to come here for the Mufongo, and they did not disappoint! That dish was enough for two adults and some, and the tenderness on the proteins was amazing!

This Guy Fieri restaurant near Condado Beach is definitely aimed at tourists. From the outside, it looks like a casual mom-and-pop dive bar, but don’t be fooled—it comes with premium prices. We spent $100 for two entrées and an appetizer, which felt excessive. You can find similar (and often better) food across the island for a fraction of the cost—easily 75% less. We ordered the shrimp empanada appetizer, which cost $15 for two empanadas that were cut in half—so four pieces total. Each half had maybe half a shrimp and some cheese. Definitely not worth the price. The plated meals tasted good, but still didn’t justify the steep cost—unless you're just here to say you've been to a Guy Fieri spot. Also, be aware there’s no free parking. There’s a small uncovered lot next door for $12 (24 hours), but we chose the underground garage at La Concha Casino—$7 for one hour or $12 for two. It's a bit more upscale and felt safer. Plus, you get to check out the hotel and casino on your way in or out. In short: If you're a big Guy Fieri fan, maybe it's worth a quick visit. Otherwise, there are better, more affordable options all over the island.

Orozco is the type of restaurant that would come up pretty quickly on any Google search if you’re looking for authentic food in Condado, San Juan. The food is authentic and it is quite delicious. We came in on a Tuesday afternoon around 5pm and there was a fair amount of patrons. This is our first time in Orozco and didn’t know what to expect. We were a bit skeptical at first because we see that the prices are gravitated more towards tourist, They do seem pretty expensive. But the shrimp empanadas that we got were OUT OF THIS WORLD . You can taste the garlic and fresh shrimp in every bite. The dough wasn’t oily , but perfectly fried. The accompanying sauce and hot sauces at teg table were PHENOMENAL. Heres the thing though, you only get two empanadas for $15. The water bottles were $3 each and we got 2. $21 before tax and tip. Tax is unavoidable (almost 12% at the time of this review) and we always tip 20%. Thats a total of $28 for 2 empanada and 2 water bottles were. Even though they were delicious , we are not sure if the prices justify the portion. We wouldn’t mind coming back because the food is great , and we only had a snack here. So open to trying them again. We would also like to note that the service is pretty standard for the island . A little more laid back and they take their time . We waited at least 10 min before someone came to take our order and another 10 min just for 2 water bottles. If they can speed up their service, serve larger portions to justify the prices, and maybe change the video of Guy Fieri on a continuous loop across the TVs, this would easily be 5 stars . Subjective and personal review : 3.8/5 stars , but I’ll let ya be the judge .

The atmosphere and the customer service were great. Unfortunately, was not impressed by the food, and it was a bit overpriced in my opinion. Chicken nugget and french fries was $20 even though the menu says $12.

I’ve been going here for over 15+ years and the service, food, people and value has gone down significantly. It took a long time for us to get our food. The food portion size is different. No skirt stake with rice, beans and plantains. We wanted apps, however everything was too slow. No longer open for breakfast and lunch, so maybe they are charging more for less. I understand the pricing must go upwards/ tiny portions/but Geesh at least keep up the quality & service. Fish was fresh and delicious. My kids enjoyed the food. Just no longer the best in PR. Live music was ok, need more TLC & friendly pp. It was a disappointment.

I decided to try this restaurant because of the brunch menu. The restaurant opened up at 9am. I got there at 10am and they were sold out of the lemon ricotta pancakes 🥞 that fast. So I tried the st German breakfast. I didn’t like the potatoes because of the garlic seasoning. The eggs were ok and I didn’t care for the Italian sausage. The restaurant atmosphere was nice. I decided to give this restaurant a try because of their brunch menu. Unfortunately, I arrived at 10 am and they were already sold out of the lemon ricotta pancakes that I had been hoping to try. So, I opted for the St. German breakfast instead. The potatoes were a bit too garlic-y for my taste, and the Italian sausage was just okay. The eggs were fine, but I didn’t really care for them. On the bright side, the restaurant atmosphere was nice.

Everything 100/10. The specialty lemonades were perfection. The food was clean (not greasy or heavy), and great portions. The key lime pie was the best I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot!). Very very good. When I am in town again I will be back for sure. We went right before the lunch rush and didn’t have an issue with wait time but once it got busy it took about 20 minutes to get our check. We weren’t in a hurry so it wasn’t an issue but good to note. The staff were very nice, we spoke English and Spanish with them. I’m a little bit of a food snob and this place was EVERYTHING.

This place was good enough we went back 3 times in a week partially due to it being close by and affordable. The place is constantly packed. The only thing I didn't like there was the seafood monfongo. The cod fish balls were interesting. The empenada good. The yellow rice was good 2 of 3x and it had been sitting to long. The roasted pork and roasted turkey was good. The sweat tea is amazing

We enjoyed our food! The calamari is missing because it was eaten quickly. Be prepared to wait, but it is worth the wait. We arrived at 6p and within 30 minutes of our arrival they were full and busy! Subtracted one star for the saltiness of the fried pork.

We visited this local casual spot here in Puerto Rico and enjoyed another delicious meal. The place was packed, which gave it a lively atmosphere. Our server was just okay at first, but after a while she warmed up and service improved. I ordered the shrimp mofongo—it was good, though not quite as flavorful as the one I had yesterday. The empanadas were tasty, and I appreciated that the oil used was fresh and clean, without any leftover flavors from other foods. Overall, it was a good experience and worth the visit.

The food here is delicious and the prices were great. The service was just okay but I gave them the benefit of the doubt because it was overly crowded when we went. I got over it once I tasted that delicious food. I had the crab and lobster empanadas as a appetizer and it was so tasty. I tried the stuffed Avocado and it was amazing and the portions were huge. The beans and rice were delicious.

The service was nice and pleasant and after all the great reviews on social media I had to check this place out. The soup was flavored nicely it was just room temperature. I’m not sure if that’s how you’re supposed to serve it. The chicken by far was awful. Fried way too long and sucked out all the juices from it and was bone dry. Just a chalky taste. My tacos were ok. Nothing amazing but they could have been better. A lot better. I’m sad that I didn’t get the amazing flavors everyone on social media had. A lot of better places around the area in my opinion.

I came here at the recommendations of many people and honestly it was a decent suggestion. They were busy when I got there at 5pm on Mother’s Day (Sunday) and we had to wait in a line. I was eventually seated at a table by the window and was looking over my virtual menu for quite some time when the owner (?) came by and asked if I was by myself. I said yes so he asked me to get up for a second while he moved my table and took some of the chairs. No big deal…they are busy. Another 10ish minutes go by, I see a lot of tables around me getting served and I was getting a little disappointed by this time bc I thought maybe I was being overlooked. Finally after about 10-15m later from being at, a very sweet waitress greeted me and asked if I wanted to drink something. I declined and asked for recommendations on 1 appetizer, 1 entree and then dessert. I got the coquetas de pollo (6/10), monfongo with the garlic chicken (monfongo was kind of dry 4.5/10. Chicken was decent but could have used more of the gravy stuff 6/10) and a side of yellow rice with beans mixed into it (8/10). Everything was good. I wouldn’t say the best and I felt like it was lacking a little bit of flavor 🤷🏻‍♀️. The star of the show was their tres leche cake. I WISH I would have ordered 2!! It had a dense and moist cake with the 3 milks soaked in it and a whipped creamy brulee style topping and had a hint of coconut. It was 11/10!! Also, keep in mind the parking is crazy and I believe $15 so if you are traveling, highly suggest an uber as the area is very busy and populated

My girl friends and I arrived to the restaurant walked in and saw how busy it was. From that moment I knew the food had to be really good. There’s a long line once you get inside that starts from the back of the restaurant and may even start out side the back door. That’s how good the food is. People are willing to wait half hour need be to get a table. I ordered the Aguacate relleno de crab. It was delicious, I will say I wish it was a little warmer when it arrived to the table. It was cooked in a red sauce which I didn’t mind, just assumed it was just the crab meat alone. Each one of us ordered an Aguacate relleno with different proteins. They were all delicious. As an appetizer we ordered tostones relleno, add a little hot sauce and thank me later. For desert the Flan de Coco it was amazing.

If I could give them ZERO STARS I would. I'm going to start off by saying that this food gave me food poisoning. I was sick with diarrhea, vomiting and the sweats for 36hrs. I ordered a double burger with cheese fries. The burger was undercooked and raw in the middle. The burger was tasteless, bland and had absolutely no flavor. The cheese for the cheese fries was yellow trash. No taste, no seasoning and no flavor. This was a huge surprise since I expected better because I tried this place only because I was told that it's the Five Guys of San Juan. Let me put that rumor to rest once and for all, Buns Burger Shop is MOST DEFINITELY NOT ANYTHING LIKE FIVE GUYS! Buns Burger Shop is absolutely NO COMPETITION FOR FIVE GUYS! Five guys burgers are filled with flavor, seasoning and taste. Not to mention Five guys french fries are legendary and incredibly delicious. I guess if you don't know any better you might think they're equal but they most definitely are NOT! Buns Burger Shop along with your burger order will serve up a side of food poisoning. So don't eat there but if you insist on still going, please be careful! Also, a note about the staff, they really weren't any good. Messed up my drink orders and didn't give me any napkins or straws nor did they direct me to where I could find it. The restaurant seating area was nice and clean but don't be fooled by that because the kitchen is serving up food poisoning. I will never dine here again and neither should you.

After a night of drives and gatherings we decided go get a late night meal. I ordered on single cheeseburger and a double cheeseburger. I also ordered the fries. We really enjoyed the vibe and mean. The prices are also decent.

Had the single bacon cheeseburger with cajun seasoned fries and everything was great. You can select a lot of different toppings for free as well as some specialty toppings for an added cost. Jose Enrique is an upscale Puerto Rican restaurant located in Condado, San Juan, envisioned by the celebrated chef Jose Enrique. The restaurant is situated in La Placita de Santurce, a lively area that transforms from a farmers market during the day to a vibrant street party at night. Jose Enrique, who hails from Santurce and is renowned for his innovative culinary skills, has been recognized as one of the best chefs in America.
José Enrique is well worth a trip if you are in San Juan. I visited this establishment with my family. From the moment we arrived the staff was warm and friendly. The cocktails were terrific and the appetizers were fantastic. We ordered the blood sausage, swordfish fillets, stuffed eggs, and pork skewers. Everything was fantastic, and the blood sausage was particularly good. It was spicier than others I have tried, but not too spicy. For dinner we had skirt steak with rice and beans, which was delicious and perfectly portioned. Others also had pork loin (off the menu), halibut, and lick your plate chicken. All of the food was great, but the chicken was very impressive. Of note, the batata y mojo is a mashed potato creation that was both surprising and delicious. It has vegetables on top and was slightly sweet. If you're anywhere near this place, I recommend it.

My wife and I were staying in Condado and wanted to have a nice dinner on a Sunday evening. We originally had a reservation for 9:00, then I received a text message from the restaurant, it said something to the effect that to due to some circumstances our reservation time had been changed to 8:15. It wasn't an issue for us, just pointing it out. The service is slow, but helpful, and I've come to expect that in PR. The food is very good, but at this price point, food excellence is expected. We had several starters and the chicharonnes were delicious. The mains were the guiso and fish of the day. The fish of day dish was fantastic and the guiso was okay.

A fun, flirty and spicy night out! This space strips away all the unnecessary flair and let’s the food SHINE. Beer is served in a short glass with paper napkins, the art on the wall is modern and entertaining. Alejandro was outstanding at explaining the menu and really pulling us into the experience. We ordered the chefs special and WOW we understood immediately why it was a menu staple. Each dish we had shone in its own right! I highly recommend this restaurant for a relaxed night away when you know the food is going to be outstanding.

We visited on Saturday night for dinner. They didn't open until 6:30pm but took our names. The place filled up pretty quickly. . Their menu was very simple and mostly written on the white board but the waiter explained to us more in detail. . We ordered crab, lion fish, and the picadillo. Food was good but we thought they were a bit too salty.

Based on the reviews, price point, relax atmosphere, this sort of place is normally my sweet spot. I left wanting. The fried fish had an innovative look, good crisp, and flavor, but was a tad overpriced for the app., and the sauce was basic. The popcorn balls felt heavy in the sauce, a butter base with several herbs and something else, I'm not able to place my finger on, perhaps garlic. Though if it was garlic lacked the kick and flavor of the below ground food gold. I really had hoped for more. I would give it a second chance if back in the neighborhood. The service was very good. Always feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @joerazz

I'm sure writing a review is unnecessary for such a phenomenal restaurant, but in case you're on the fence - GO! Once you can find the place (no sign outside, but I love this level of quirkiness) you will enjoy the most amazing culinary experience. Every dish is fine tuned to exceed your expectations. I got a main course of broccoli and even that was next level. I like that Jose Enrique is not pretentious. While the restaurant is clean and modern, there are no frills. The design is simplistic and the energy is poured into the important thing - the food. You will be served intricate and artistic dishes by tattooed waitstaff in Doc Martens, and you will wonder why every other restaurant doesn't operate this way and let the food speak for itself.

Our dining experience here was quite memorable here..... My native PR friend told me that Jose Enrique is THE best restaurant in PR, so we went. It's apparently their new location, because they didn't even have the sign completed on the day we ate there, no biggie. The menu is fairly short, which I appreciate. I like having a focused menu, which means they can probably make the limited dishes very well. I ordered my fav thing in PR: skirt steak, thinking if skirt steak is good in most other places in PR, imagine how fantastic it would be here! we also ordered the halibut with their signature sweet potato mash. The plating of the skirt steak was a bit surprising, I definitely paused my breathing for a couple seconds being all confused after the dish was served, couldn't make sense of it, I think my mind was refusing to accept that's gonna be the dish I would get. Then I unhappily took a bite, the meat was undercooked (i ordered medium rare) and it was not tender at all.....how in the world did they manage to do that?! then I tried the halibut......it was sooo dry..... I asked for the floor manager and told him about the fish, and he happily sent it back and brought us back a new plate, we cut the fish through and it was raw inside. We sent it back again. Third time did turn out to be a charm. Nothing to complain about anymore, but the meat was not impressive, not even memorable. I do have to admit, the sweet potato mash with the avocado and papaya salad on top was definitely the golden star of that dish, and was in fact probably my favorite food I had in my entire PR trip. The flavor of it is brilliant: sweet potato, savory mash, with purple onion, slightly sweet but delightfully juicy papaya, then creamy avocado, and then a little bit of cilantro. It was heaven. whoever came up with it, must be a genius. Giving it 4 stars because of the sweet potato mash.

Many photos you see on Google maps are from the old location. The menu now doesn't include some of those delicious looking items. 1.5 hour wait. I thought they didn't take reservations, but asked me if I had one when walked in. The mashed yams were great. The chocolate cake was delicious. Only paid parking in lot nearby

Café Cuatro Sombras is a trendy coffee shop located in the heart of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. It stands out for offering locally grown and roasted coffee beans, providing a strong yet not bitter flavor. The café is the face of the owner's family coffee plantation, Hacienda Santa Clara, which was established in 1846 in the mountains of Yauco.
My husband and I LOVED this place, we went back twice on the same day. Great quality coffee using the local beans. The hot coffee taste better than iced. It’s so creamy and rich. Great flavor and fantastic atmosphere. The colors of the pillows match the chairs. We can tell that they actually care about the business, it’s not a sloppy cheap decor. The back garden area is also beautiful!!

Went in for breakfast around 10am on a Friday. It wasn’t crowded and we were able to get a seat quickly. Their baked goods looked lovely and we grabbed the Mala Resa (could be a different spelling). It was a sandwich cake with guava jam in between, not too sweet. From their menu, we had the avocado toast. For $10, I would expect a larger toast or two of the smaller toasts so this was a little overpriced. The other one was croissant with ham, cheese and guava butter. For $10 or something around that, it was filling and I loved it. But nothing beats their iced latte. We had no sugar and it tasted the best. Definitely a must try! The only drawback was that service was a little slow for a time when it wasn’t too crowded.

We came here for breakfast and it was very good! We got a latte and ~cinnamon roll~ to start. Then we got the croissant sandwich and the cuatro sombras sandwich, which were both very good! The cafe was also very cute. There is also an outdoor seating area.

Great coffee shop! Food was delicious and they have plenty of options for sweet pastries, it has also good variety of breakfast. It has a calm atmosphere, very nice to go with friends, solo or with couple. It gets busy, so definitely consider that. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I ordered the croissant with ham & cheese, with guava, it was awesome, also had a quesito.

No Wifi, misleading reviews prior lead me to think they did. But it wasn’t a big deal. This is a nice, quiet dimly lit cafe with many options for food and drink. They have delicious food options, an easy to read menu, friendly staff and comfortable seating area with pillows. I recommend this place! Chai was well made and flavorful. They do have alternative milk options as well!

Cute little coffee house with modern/boho chic decor. The coffee was amazing. I had the double macchiato and it was rich and creamy in flavor. They have indoor seating and a small outdoor garden within the store. The prices are on the higher side but still worth it. A must visit when in Old San Juan.

☕ The coffee is excellent — 10/10! The atmosphere inside the café is nice. However, if you don’t like crowded places, I wouldn’t recommend it. It gets really noisy with people constantly walking around, which kind of ruins the vibe. The food takes a long time to prepare — I waited 30 minutes. So, if you’re thinking of grabbing a quick brunch in 20 minutes and heading out, this isn’t the place. But if you have an hour to spare, it’s actually a pretty good spot.

Vaca Brava, located a few blocks from Pier 3 in Old San Juan, is a lively and casual restaurant offering authentic Puerto Rican flavors. The menu features classic dishes such as crispy tostones, chuletas, shrimp, and fried beef mofongo. Known for its fantastic Argentinian-style cuisine and popular among locals and visitors alike, this restaurant is a meat lover's paradise with tender grilled meats served with rice, fried plantains, and fries.
This was our first time eating in Vaca Brava at Old San Juan, which was crowded today. We waited about 30 minutes outside to be seated and about 30 minutes to receive the food after ordering, but it wasn't packed inside. The food was good and flavorful, and the portions were considerable. Only one plate of ribs was rare, with only 1/4 of it being meat and the rest just fat. We ordered the Trio De La Vaca, which comprises chicken, steak, and ribs on top of fries. It was a huge plate and was enough for a group of four. The guy who served us was friendly and very attentive to our needs. He gave us various options and was very knowledgeable about the menu. Considering the location of this restaurant, the prices are not significantly higher than those of similar restaurants outside tourist-frequented sites. One negative detail was the dirty floor under and around the table. The grease made it sticky in one area and slippery in others from previous eaters. Overall, it was a relatively good experience, and we left with full bellies.

On 6/7/2025 I am writing to express my extreme disappointment regarding a recent dining experience at your restaurant. My husband and I arrived at your establishment excited to enjoy a meal together. However, our enthusiasm quickly waned as we found ourselves waiting for our food for over an hour. The server informed us that there was a delay in the kitchen, assuring us that our meals would be out in 15 minutes. Unfortunately, it took 30 minutes for our food to finally arrive. In an effort to understand the situation better, my husband approached the manager on duty, who also appeared unsure as to why our food was delayed. Regrettably, no apologies were offered for the inconvenience caused by the significant delay. Despite the delicious food that eventually reached our table, the lack of effective time management in the kitchen has left us with a sour impression of your establishment. We value punctuality and good service, both of which were lacking during our visit. As a result of this disappointing experience, we have made the decision not to return to your restaurant in the future. I believe it is important for you to be aware of the issues we encountered so that improvements can be made to prevent similar situations from happening to other patrons in the future. Thank you for taking the time to read this message. I genuinely hope that you will address these concerns and strive for better service standards moving forward.

I’m a regular customer at Vaca Brava in Old San Juan and have always recommended the place for its atmosphere and food. However, what happened today was completely unacceptable. I understand this is a tourist area and there were three cruise ships docked today. Still, as a frequent guest — someone the staff knows — I expected decent treatment. I ordered from the regular menu, not the lunch special, and yet my friend and I were made to wait over an hour. When the food finally came, only my dish arrived — my friend’s order never showed up. Worse, the dish I received was not exactly what I ordered. The specifications were wrong, and the portion of meat was half the size of what they usually serve (especially compared to the menu photo). When I asked, the waitress gave me a couple of excuses like “maybe the supplier changed” or “what you see on the menu isn’t always what you get.” There was no apology, no offer to speak with a manager, no attempt to make things right. And in the end, because the area was flooded with tourists, I was charged more for what was basically half a lunch. Sadly, this experience made me feel like a stranger in a place I used to trust. Very disappointing.

Pretty good place but little expensive for what quality food you get. I did like the food I just had way better food for less money at other local places. I guess you have to pay tourist fee :)

The service was good along with the food. The new york strip was ok not great but it could be just my taste. I would recommend at least trying.

Poor service. Restaurant was supposed to open at 11 and didn’t open until 1120. They kept telling people a few more minutes. An employee was sitting at the bar eating, they were wiping tables and standing around talking. People started to leave it was hot outside. At 1120 they started letting people in. I ordered the snapper and she said it would take over an hour so i asked if the steak come with the green sauce and she said yes… so i ordered it. I minus well ordered the snapper because it took an hour for my steak and his salmon to come out . You saw other people starting to leave without their food. My husband asked for a corona and not light and she brought him a light… it took 10 minutes before she came back and she told him that’s all they had. When they brought my steak it was well done and no geeen sauce. She told me she would be back and i had to stop her 15 minutes later and ask for it. Another 10 mins and she brought out A1 steak sauce and said that’s all they had. Not good experience for the prices asking. As we went to. Nearby restaurant we saw another family that we saw at Vaca Brava walk into the restaurant we were in. Should have opened on time. Poor preparation and definitely not a good look an employee sitting at the bar eating while everyone is standing out side waiting to get in.

Unfortunately, our recent visit was extremely disappointing. Our food arrived cold, and the waiter was inattentive, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. Our $100 meat entree was subpar, and our drinks were watered down. Despite our concerns, management was dismissive, offering only a 10% discount. I would not recommend this restaurant to others. 160 dollars down the drain for only two people.

Princesa - Cocina Cultura, formerly known as Princesa Gastrobar, is a charming restaurant located in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. The outdoor seating area under an open trellis-style ceiling creates a cool ambiance for diners to enjoy elevated Puerto Rican cuisine.
Affordable and delicious! Our waiter was informative, funny, and kind. The lamb chops were amazing, I needed more. I wasn't fond of the side that came with the rack of lamb. Everyone that was with our party enjoyed there good. I will definitely be back.

We loved it here! It was a nice evening, so we sat outside. There were lots of flies in the area, so our server (Diego) placed fly repellers at the table. They worked well. To start, we each ordered a jibarito (very tasty) and shared an order of croquetas pescado. We enjoyed those very much. My husband also ordered chicarron de pulpo, which he loved. I do not eat octopus, so I didn't' sample. It looked appetizing, though. For our entrees, we had pinon de ovejo and a whole fried fish (it was snapper on this day). My husband really enjoyed the lamb dish. The fish was served with fried plantains, and was so simple and flavorful. They were kind enough to remove the head (you have to ask). We did not have dessert, as we were heading to Anita's for gelato (reviewed separately).

Definitely some tasty food across the menu. Staff were super friendly and service was top notch. Their prices were good especially considering the quality of food we all received. They had a nice selection of rum. It was unanimous that their fish was cooked perfectly and was extremely delicious, but everything was quite tasty.

The food was amazing. The waitress was a but rude when I wanted something light, so I ordered 2 appetizers for my meal and we shared 1. She rolled her eyes when I said that's all I wanted. Other than that, it's a beautiful restaurant and the food and drinks were great.

We absolutely love visiting Princessa whenever we're in Puerto Rico. We were thrilled to see the same server from our visit in January—he not only remembered us but also recalled my favorite dish. That's what I call exceptional customer service! The atmosphere is vibrant and inviting, thanks to the tasteful decorations and arrangements. Most importantly, the food is outstanding. This is the place to go for authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. Not only is it delicious, but the presentation is simply fabulous.

Puerto Rican restaurant
Nestled in Old San Juan, La Casita Blanca is a charming restaurant that has been serving both locals and tourists for over 40 years. The name "Little White House" perfectly captures the simplicity of this place, with its potted plants, plastic tablecloths, and old rum bottles used as vases. The menu is exclusively in Spanish and is handwritten on a weathered chalkboard. Upon arrival, guests are greeted with complimentary codfish fritters and plantain soup.
My family and I went to La Casita Blanca on a Saturday night expecting things to be slow or would take long. We were mistaken, after entering they accommodated our group of 8 plus a baby we were immediately seated with warm smiles from all of the employees. Our Waitress, Yoselin was cheerful and a delight. We asked for her recommendations and her recommendations were just what we were looking for, typical Puerto Rican dishes. We were welcomed with sopa de plátano and bacalaito. After ordering our food, it came out quickly and the food was spectacular. The busboys and other servers were very quick to clean up any empty plates and with a joyful attitude. This was truly an experience to remember and a highlight of the Puerto Rican hospitality. 10/10 would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Puerto Rico.

My husband and I went to La Casita Blanca on a Saturday afternoon thinking it might be busy or take a while, but we were pleasantly surprised. As soon as we arrived was seated right away, greeted with warm smiles from the staff. Our waitress, was so friendly and full of positive energy. She gave us great recommendations — exactly what we were hoping for: authentic Puerto Rican dishes. We were welcomed with sopa de plátano and bacalaito, which were both delicious. Our meals came out quickly, and everything was absolutely amazing. The busboys and other servers were also very attentive, keeping the table tidy with cheerful attitudes. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that truly showed the warmth of Puerto Rican hospitality. 10/10 — highly recommend to anyone visiting Puerto Rico!

La Casita Blanca is an excellent local restaurant, away from the typical tourist spots. The decor and ambiance are truly amazing. Fortunately, our wait time was only about 10 minutes, which is quite rare; usually, you're looking at a wait of 1 to 2 hours. However, finding parking took us around 20 minutes, so opting for valet service would likely have been a smarter choice. We ordered carne guisada and bistec encebollado, both beautifully presented. While the flavors were delightful, a touch more salt would have enhanced the dishes further. The service was decent, though we did have to wait a bit to get our server's attention on a few occasions. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience!

We knew the food will be fabulous so it was no shock! We came on Thursday around 2 pm and they close at 4pm on Thursday, thus, no wait for us. We’re seated immediately. Food was 5 stars. I got a Piña colada which was the best I have had! Sprinkle of cinnamon on it was the golden touch. We got the stuffed avocado and skirt steak and fried cheese. All very good. 5 stars all around.

i now know why this is bad bunny’s favorite restaurant. it was absolutely incredible. best meal i’ve had on my trip! we came on a thursday around 2:30, they close at 4 and the wait was about 10 min long to be seated. they give complementary balacao fritters and plantain soup which was amazing to start. we got the beef stew and the skirt steak, both came with rice and it came with a plate of bean soup. also got their espresso martini which was so good. i highly recommend this restaurant and if i return to san juan i will be back!

I came here because of an influencer on IG. The place always had a line wrapped around, with a wait of about 30 mins long. The decor is very homey with plantains and plants hanging all around as the main decor of the place. They have seating on two levels. We sat on the top level. Their menu is limited and to the point. I ordered their coconut arepas stuffed with crabs as an appetizer, fried pork chops and my friend ordered their garlic shrimp both came with yellow rice. I did not like the taste of the crab, it was stewed and frankly didn't taste like crab meat at all to me. The arepa itself was tasty. I enjoyed my pork chops though they were on the small side. My friend did not enjoy his garlic shrimp, it was lacking flavor. Overall, the experience was much to be desired and the food was overpriced. I forgot to mention they gave us a soup before our meals, I believe it was green plantain, that was very tasty.
Tiffy L — Google review
Our visit to La Casita Blanca was excellent! They provide plátano soup and bacalao for the table. They had a variety of aguas frescas to try. We had the tamarindo and guava aguas fresca which were good. They bring out a large menu for you to select your plate. Each plate offers sides such as rice and beans, rice with pigeon peas, or tostones. We had the aguacate relleno de camarones al ajillo with rice and beans and bistec empanado (not pictured). The food came out fast and was delicious. If you like spicy they have a house made hot sauce that was a good pairing with the food and is available to buy. We got there around 1 pm and waited a little bit but they do their best to keep the line moving. The service was excellent with the server checking in with us regularly. The atmosphere was great you really felt like you were at someone’s home eating authentic Puerto Rican food. There is street parking but there are a lot of car mechanic businesses around the restaurant and we had to park a few blocks down. Another option would be getting dropped off by uber/lyft, which we saw a lot of peoplw do. We will definitely be back!

My wife and I some friends have gone to El Patio many times in the past since 2011. It is a good place to stop in for lunch while walking around Old San Juan. This is a Bar and Restaurant with the bar at the front and the restaurant towards the back. My wife and I both had Burgers and Fries on this trip, mine a cheeseburger. I have to say since eating here in the past, I am sorry to say this burger needed a little bit more flavor.. not sure what but something is needed. Very nice atmosphere, just wish the food and service had been better. Our party of 4 ordered basic Puerto Rican food before heading to the airport, rice, beans steak, pork chops, sweet plantains with salads and asopao (soup) Ordered didn't take too long to come out and had food flavors but was barely warm, especially the the soup and beans the beans should be steaming hot but they were not. Very disappointed, hopefully they will improve in the future.

In the middle of the party scene this place offered a nice break from that while still keeping the vibes going music was great but not like a club! Although if you wanna get down, the front street facing bar is perfect, but you can sit and enjoy a good meal while having a conversation.

The lady, while paying the check, was expecting us to pay a minimum 15% tip on the amount. Whereas we wanted to pay a custom tip of $5, which I felt was being rude later. Once payment was done, I asked for the receipt. She threw the printed receipt like she got mad 😠 and I’m never coming back. Thumbs down. 👎 It was only 2 of us and I know how much to tip as I have traveled a lot in USA. Customer is God or else you will lose the business.

Amazing place, really delicious waffles and food in general, great service. Home-made sauces, unique waffles taste. It is a bit expensive for brunch but it is worth every penny. You can order half savory waffles and half sweet ones to try both options. Went there with my family based on the description and comments on Google maps and enjoyed the experience. Great place . Unfortunately, it will be closing in day as the owners are retiring. A local gem that shows care and love in all they serve. We had the brunch . The problem was that with the announcement that they are closing , there was a wait that lasted is for three hours due to the onslaught of tourist and regulars before they closed But once we were served ,it was worth it. My wife had waffles topped with strawberries, kiwi and bacon and a light topping of powdered sugar. I had the Nutella waffles which as you guessed had drizzled Nutella. Also, fresh strawberries, kiwi and a side of latte cappuccino which was delicious. Made homemade and fresh . I scarfed it down . My wife ate hers with such joy. The owners , gave us a strawberry in whipped cream and had a candle with it, as it was my wife's birthday. Both owners apologized for the service but it went to the fact that they were understaffed and the place has such a stellar reputation. But , hopefully, one day they might reopen in another way or open in another form . Thank you for such an experience. We enjoyed it .

The tea menu is so long and the waffles are customizable. As someone who eats gluten-fre and dairy-free it was really nice to find the entire menu was available to me, not just a small section. I highly recommend this place, it has been my favorite restaurant of the whole island.
Kimberly T — Google review
The food is amazing. The staff is passionate, attentive, and happy to explain and give recommendations. Could not decide on sweet or savory, so ordered half waffles of each. So so good. Will come any time I return to the island.

Where to even begin! We came early to beat the crowd. Because of this, we got an amazing run down of the menu, the teas, the coffee process and their history from one of the owners. To start- the coffee was incredible. Some of the best coffee I've had, and after learning how they make it, I was so excited to try it and it did not let down! I'm missing it already. The owner explained the menu from head to toe, gave recommendations, and told us that everything can be substituted/adjusted so that every bite is the exact way you want it (I love this, because you feel like you're at home and can make your waffle have the exact toppings/proportions that would would do if you made it yourself). My sister and I each got a savory half waffle and a sweet half waffle, with coffee, and it was the perfect amount. They were absolutely incredible, and every time I come to PR in the future I will be stopping here. The couple that owns it were so kind and welcoming and I really hope this place continues to be successful, as they seem to have so much passion for what they do. I did not get to try any of the teas, but they had a huge list to offer and could make them into cocktails, iced teas, milky teas, literally anything you could want. Definitely check this place out as you will not regret it one bit!

The food was delicious! The waffles are sweet or savory. I loved the savory smoked salmon with manchego cheese, also the guac and smoked salmon one. You can get half orders so you can try two types or it’s just a good option if you aren’t that hungry. I also ordered a small fruit bowl, which was a little small then I expected but honestly was still a good portion.

Puerto Rican restaurant
Deaverdura is a laid-back restaurant located in Old San Juan, offering traditional Caribbean cuisine in a vibrant setting. The popular eatery is known for its flavorful dishes such as roasted pork with rice and beans, accompanied by cilantro-lime chimichurri sauce. Additionally, patrons can enjoy white-rum-based cocktails mixed with various fruit juices. The casual spot boasts a short menu featuring local favorites like empanadas, tostones, and homemade sausage.
Food was incredible! Best food we had on the island. and we could see the food being made fresh! Service was quick for us because we went between 1-2 PM but I can tell that it is a busy place to try to eat. Limited menu which is good because it means the food is made authentic and better service.
Tiffany C — Google review
Deaverdura is such a gem in Old San Juan! The food is full of authentic Puerto Rican flavor and feels homemade with love. We tried a mix of everything—fried plantains, sausages, and mofongo—and it was all delicious. Portions are generous and perfect for sharing with family or friends. The restaurant itself has a cozy, colorful vibe that makes you feel right at home. Service was friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. It’s the kind of place where you can sit back, enjoy amazing food, and soak in the local culture. Definitely a must-visit if you want a true Puerto Rican meal in a relaxed, fun atmosphere!
Nestor C — Google review
The food was amazing. Everything was spot on full of flavor. It’s a small space so wait times can be brutal especially if you’re having to wait outside in the heat BUT it is totally worth the wait. The sampler platter alone was enough for three people to eat and be full.
Ivonne M — Google review
We got the sample platter! Fed theee of us easily! Loved the plantains rice pork lil sausages, and corn sticks. Ate blood sausage for the first time was OK but not my fav. Love the atmosphere and the food was delicious. The bathrooms were a little wonky one had a sink one didn’t and you had to get paper towels outside.
Jesse P — Google review
This place has great food. We tried the same dishes in other places, and this is the best tasting. We got the Puerto Rican sampler and LOVED IT. It gets busy here so be patient or come back and try another day. Night times are difficult to get in so don’t set yourself up for disappointments if you’re impatient. Not sure why some reviews say it’s not authentic, can’t get more authentic than this, my grandma would make all this. 🤷🏻‍♂️ And it’s like a home cooked meal.
Richard S — Google review
Worth the wait! We went twice, and both times there was a line out the door—and for good reason. The place isn’t fancy, but the atmosphere is lively and full of local charm. The first time, we ordered the sampler and got a taste of everything: pork, rice, morcillas, tostones—it was all delicious. A true local gem we were happy to return to.
Margarita S — Google review
A quick Google search for Puerto Rican food within walking distance from Castillo del Morro lead us to Deaverdura. We also ended up with the sampler as other reviewers suggested. Thought it was good value and most of the items were good. The blood sausage …. It tasted exactly like the Korean version called sundae. The shredded pork, fried plantains/rice, and mini empanadas were good. The rest seemed a bit bland. Pineapple and tamarind juice hit the spot after walking in the humid but quaint cobblestone streets of old San Juan. Servers were nice but didn’t get much attention after the food arrived.
Michael C — Google review
When you arrive there is a sign outside the restaurant telling you to wait for service. This can be anywhere from 10-30 minutes. Servers spend time with customers and provide good service and to do that they manage the amount of people coming in. Be respectful and wait for them to invite you in. The food was incredible. I got a coconut with rum as my drink and my wife got passion fruit juice. We got the chicken with garlic, white rice, and beans as well as the arroz con gandules and pernil. As is customary in Puerto Rico, each of our plates came with salad dressed with olive oil and vinegar. I wish we had more people with us so we could have ordered the appetizer sampler. This was easily one of the best meals we had in Viejo San Juan. This is a local spot where most of the customers were Boricua.

The bistro features nightly performances ranging from jazz to bossa nova and samba, as well as collaborations with guest musicians.
Legendary experience! This is a 1/1 unique, amazing culinary art experience! The food was unbelievable and actually has taken the top spot for two of my favorite all time dishes…tuna tartare and lobster ravioli. All food was outstanding and drinks were on point. Did I mention CARLI? This man is a music icon and played the piano for us. Basically a gourmet dining experience with unique twists AND an intimate show from a musician who, amongst other accomplishments, was a long time collaborator with The Beach Boys. Carli talked with us for a while afterwards, just such a cool and unique experience you cannot get anywhere else. 11/10, A+++ don’t think it over just go and see Carli

There was live piano player which created a beautiful and enchanting atmosphere. Mary provided excellent service! The shrimp and lobster ravioli is recommended with the addition of jumping shrimp. We had a small infant and they were quite accommodating. I believe my little one enjoyed this enchanting experience.

I would recommend this place to anyone visiting San Juan, very intimate and romantic for couples or even friends! The food is amazing, we got the tuna tartare as an appetizer and it was delicious. The drinks are top notch, and the owner is very kind and plays the piano beautifully! Very cool to learn he played with The Beach Boys back then!

Good and not good experience at the restaurant. The live music was great, the interior design is amazing. Customer service is good too. The pasta I had wasn’t great. Just simple store bought pasta with homemade sauce, not impressed , especially for the price I paid.

We had a great time at Carli’s! Even with the water shortage, the food was delicious. Mari was on point and very helpful, fantastic waitress. Surprise guests played the piano and sang. Carli played some good tunes as well! Will definitely come back when we visit again.

Acapulco Taquería Mexicana is a casual eatery with an open kitchen where you can watch the preparation of their signature al pastor pork. The restaurant prides itself on serving authentic Mexican cuisine, eschewing Tex-Mex fare in favor of dishes like al pastor and lengua tacos, cochinita sopes, and more. Despite its unassuming location behind a pawn shop, this spot is known for some of the best Mexican food in Puerto Rico.
Wow, everything is very tasty and delicious, from drink to tacos and bowls to desserts. My favorite food was Quesabirria, it’s somehow like a large taco that comes with shredded beef which is perfectly marinated and cooked, it is absolutely one the best food I’ve ever had; it was so delicious that I came back again 2 days later. Staff are really friendly and the environment is pleasant too. I loved everything about this restaurant.

Casual sit down taqueria, friendly team. Open air upstairs seating. The tacos took about 15-20 minutes to come, sort of a longer wait. I really enjoyed the steak taco on the left. Carnitas was very salty but the salsas complemented them well. Corn tortillas were good too.

The food was simple yet amazing. Each bite was delicious. Every taco ordered was a hit. Drinks were so refreshing and tasty. I truly recomend this little spot with great and quick service. The only hicup is parking, and the fact that it being a small establishment you might have to wait a few to be seated. But if you dondecide to go you will not regret the experience.

Great taco place. Great service . Great coctails. And most important dog friendly! We had a delicious lunch and we will definitely come back. One star down because the churro machine broke, and we weren't able to have desserts.

My family and I came in to enjoy a nice meal around lunchtime — couldn’t have been better! My family and I are vegetarians, so finding authentic food that meets our restrictions is often difficult. Acapulco Taquería gave us a great meal during our visit. The food was fresh, the service was welcoming, and the atmosphere felt incredibly warm. Our favorite dishes had to be the guacamole, burritos, bowls, quesadillas, and churros. Each item was fresh and very flavorful, definitely recommend for anyone looking for a great meal!
Niharika — Google review
The food in this place is outstanding. It is one of the best places to eat tacos in the area. The Guacamole was very tasty. Margaritas were good but pricey, they didn't even serve it in the traditional margarita glass. The place got 2 floors, the second tends to be more crowded. Service was average, luckily we didn’t see the girl with red hair of the previous bad reviews. Parking on street, credit cards accepted.

The absolutely best! We disembarked our cruise ship and while wondering came across this place. Wanting an iced coffee we stepped in and we were not disappointed. We had the San Juan Bay ( if you know what’s in it please tell us) and oh man. It was sooo sooo good!!! If you cruise into here check this place out it’s only less than a 5 minute walk from the port. And well well worth the short walk!

I wanted something to get me going and this seemed to be the spot to help with that. My significant other and I walked inside. I looked at the menu on the wall and then went to the counter to order. From the HOT coffee section, I ordered an espresso…………….1.95 and an 8oz americano for 2.50. We sat down at a counter. The espresso had a sharp flavor. I loved it. The americano had a pleasant taste. I added Miel to it, which amplified the flavor. The service was great. I didn’t have any issues. Overall, I had a great experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to go again in the future. Delicious pastries and coffees that are very reasonably priced! I had a slice of guava cake, a with cinnamon cake dolce de lèche and a Puertorican mocha and tried my husband’s white nut cappuccino. Very good. He had a Mallorca sandwich and a cheese and onion empanadas and enjoyed both. Staff was very friendly with answering our questions.

This is a cute place, we specifically went to this place after reading all the reviews. It's a cute place with fun flavors, and a few bakery items to eat. We ordered the San Juan and the Banana specialty lattes and a bagel with cream cheese. It was pretty good, decent iced coffee. But it's just a normal cafe, pretty small, but I am sure not many people sit and eat there. It has a beautiful view of the water and it wasn't too crowded so it's nice and peaceful.

This place caught my eye on Instagram and let me say the hype is real ! Friendly atmosphere and the customer service was exceptional to say the least. After I landed in Puerto Rico it was pouring, so I didn’t had a chance for days to go outside to enjoy anything. I landed in the afternoon & by the time I reached my hotel I can’t wait to try some authentic food ! So from the hotel they recommended this restaurant. It wasn’t that far, most probably could have walked but it was pouring outside lol..! I was very excited to try the Mofongo everyone told me to try while being in Puerto Rico. Obviously meat isn’t halal so I have tried the shrimp one. I gotta say I didn’t like it at all, highly disappointed! It was kinda sad & made me scared for rest of my trip to try Mofongo different place. The thing is everyone will not like everything they will ever try, just because I didn’t like this dish doesn’t mean I will not like anything else. I did like the dessert called Tres Le Che, yum! The price is on the higher side, so it made me little skeptic about rest of my trip. But I was on my first solo trip & simply thing like this will not scared me off ___ Customer service is great, place is big enough, decor is nice. Restroom was good. I stayed here for a while just to see if the rain stops so I can go somewhere near by to enjoy! They volunteered to take some pictures lol, and you know me it made me extra happy lol

This place was just okay. We ordered pina colada’s and they weren’t good at all. Portions were big but still didn’t seem worth the prices. Monfongo was descent. Highlights of the meal were the ceviche tacos and fish bites This place left a lot to be desired especially based on its popularity and recommendations.

OMG! Food at this place is absolutely delicious! Steaks, chicken, fish, tropical dishes, and drinks. I had an amazing time with my family and friends. The service staff made it feel even better, with their promptness and kindness.
Stuart P — Google review
Fish was fresh, but fried at low temperature which makes it to absorb lots of oil, in addition they put too much salt. Plantains were cold, chewy and dark brown which means they weren't fresh. Fish was ordered with rice and beans because all orders come with salad, and it was delivered with 2 salads. When I questioned the server he stated he did the same comment at the kitchen but they told them to take it as served.

Lovely breakfast spot! Wonderful coffee. I had the waffle with whipped cream and fresh fruit. At our table we also had the French toast, breakfast tacos and the jibaro. French toast was perfection. The jibaro was a ton of food. Yummy chicken sausage! Some of the most perfect breakfast potatoes we've ever had. The breakfast tacos were a little lack luster and needed a boost by one of the many choices of bottled sauces. We were so happy with the service. One of us needed to catch a flight and our waiter was very accommodating, making sure she was taken care of in case she needed to leave. Beyond that, he was super attentive, funny, kind, and personable. We'll definitely visit again if we find ourselves in San Juan again. I personally think 2 people could share some of the dishes and that would help with the higher prices they have here.

Nice brunch spot that has an outstanding staff - everyone there was so nice! The food was good but nothing amazing. The portion sizes are also on the smaller side of things. The drinks were pretty good and they gave us a little extra which was nice. Would check this spot out if you’re around the area.

Delicious!! We listened to people's reviews and got the breakfast pizza and the red velvet pancakes and they were both incredible. The crust on the pizza was so crispy and delicious, and the potatoes were seasoned amazingly. The pancakes were honestly just dessert posing as breakfast, but we weren't upset about it! I especially loved that the frosting is actually cream cheese frosting, because I feel like a lot of places will just do vanilla. The latte was also very good and I loved the little cookie that came with it. Definitely recommend.
Rachel S — Google review
So we went for brunch to Cafe Marquesa, the food was good and the service was on par even though it was packed. We ordered three dishes, the sweet and spicy chicken tacos, the shakshuka and the eggs royal (Smoked Salmon Benedict), along with our usual irish coffees. Of the three the best was the Eggs Royal by far, the hollandaise was luscious and the plate was well balanced. And even though the potatoes were a bit over cooked as was the side of sausage that we ordered the dish was wonderful. The sweet and spicy tacos were also very nice, the mixture of texture between the avaocado, the plantillla and the chicken made for a satisfying bite, but it lacked spice in the sauce so it was mostly sweet chilli in flavor. The shakshuka was well presented it arrived hot and stayed hot until the end of the meal. But it severely lacked flavor, the tomato base was more paste than sauce and lacked both moisture and seasoning. In my humble opinion it would have benefitted greatly from some olive oil, salt and a bit of water to smooth it out. As for the coffee, well you can never go wrong with a taste of Glen in the morning over PR ground beans!

Ice cream shop
Anita La Mamma del Gelato is a delicious ice cream shop located in Old San Juan. The staff are incredibly friendly and let you try different flavors before picking one, while the decor is lovely and they are open until 12 PM which is great after dinner. The gelato itself was amazing and I would highly recommend it to anyone!
Review of Anita Gelato, Puerto Rico Anita Gelato in San Juan is a true gem, combining indulgence with a beautiful, unique ambiance. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the stunning interior design that perfectly captures the essence of elegance. The deep green patina walls paired with the sophisticated gold accents create a refined atmosphere that makes every visit feel special. It’s the kind of space where you’ll want to linger, and the inviting vibe only adds to the experience. Of course, the real highlight here is the gelato. With an impressive array of flavors, each one is a work of art, both visually and in taste. The gelato presentation itself is stunning — each scoop is perfectly arranged, making it feel like you're enjoying a gourmet treat. As for the flavors, they're nothing short of amazing. I had the Salted Caramel and Biscuit Cheesecake, and I can’t recommend these enough. The Salted Caramel is rich with just the right amount of salty-sweet contrast, while the Biscuit Cheesecake brings a delightful creaminess with a touch of crumbled texture. Together, they’re an absolute flavor dream, complementing each other perfectly in every bite. The staff at Anita Gelato are incredibly friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall positive experience. One thing to note is that it’s a popular spot, so be prepared for a bit of a wait, especially during peak hours. But trust me, the wait is worth it for such a high-quality treat. In conclusion, Anita Gelato is a must-visit if you’re in San Juan. Whether you're there for the incredible gelato, the beautiful interior, or the warm service, it’s an experience that combines luxury with local charm. Highly recommend!

Anita Gelato is honestly the best gelato I’ve ever had in my life. The flavors are rich, creamy, and full of flavor in every scoop. The pistachio was next level and so smooth. From the reviews I was expecting this place to have the most amazing ice cream. I disagree. Two of us got gelato and it was good? But not amazing. Certain flavors definitely have more taste than others, and some just simply weren’t that good. The store was jam packed and we waited in a confusing line with no signage for the gelato. The line wrapped around five different ways. The staff was super friendly which was a plus. However, for how expensive it was, we were expecting our taste buds to be blown away. Overall, I’d say this one has the hype but not the taste nor flavor to back it up. Although the store itself was cute, we don’t foresee coming back.

I have always being the most dedicated ice cream lover. I would separare a monthly stipend only for the ice cream expense. Now to the main point, an amazing overall experience has vanquished at the remarkable gelato place. For me, by the retirement of one of their top flavors: SMORES. Anytime I would travel to do a two hour, 1 and a half hour, one hour line easily to take this amazing gelato home with me. Sometimes the gelato would be sold out at the time I got to order and of course it would devastating after a long line but I could always come back another day to get it. Now they have retired it, in the words of one of their employees. But why? I sincerely hope this decision could be reverted because I am convinced there is not a match of any flavors like the Anitas Smores.

In the small streets of Old San Juan you will find this shop bustling with patrons from all over the world. The customer service here was really good! As an Ice Cream Expert that travels the country looking for good ice cream I can say the flavors were quite unique. Of course like always not all the flavors are for everyone, but they do have a lot to choose from. I am not personally a fan of Gelato. So I am always looking for someone to change my mind… I tried multiple flavors of course. The Limited Edition (their version of Biscoff) was a well balanced flavor. Also the Hazelnut Mousse & Chocolate Crunch was pretty good. I would recommend to get a cone if you order. Unfortunately, I did not and I grabbed a regular size cup. The issue with that is they over fill the cup and then give you a small tasting spoon to eat it with and it makes a complete mess. 😞 I was still not convinced about Gelato… Keep making smiles and serving well!

So good!!! So many flavors to choose from but the staff does a great job being patient and allowing you to have samples. A great experience and highly recommend.

On your visit to Old San Juan you MUST stop in to Birra y Empanadas and treat yourself to what will likely be the best bites of your life! This small pub makes the very best empanadas I have ever had the pleasure of eating! Here you will find an unassuming, local bar that is an absolute gem! Cold beer, good cocktails, genuinely friendly, down to earth staff and the best empanadas you will ever put into your mouth, hands down! No frills. No splashy menu. Just great service and a small variety of delicious baked empanadas. Get one of each to start with and then go ahead and get yourself some more. You will thank me later. I’m still dreaming of these heavenly, pillowy, perfectly seasoned stuffed pockets of perfection! Birra y Empanadas…keep doing what you are doing because you are doing it right!

This place has a welcoming vibe! Music is chill with reggae type of music. Looking at the walls, you sense a feel of history. You are greeted when you enter. We were able to choose our seat. There was some table games which we played connect four. ☺️ The empanadas were delicious. We had beef empanadas. As well as onion with cheese. We tried spinach with cheese. Every one was authentic Puerto Rican and super delicious. The drinks were also yummy.

Dive bar with some of the best empanadas you’ll find! Beef and chorizo are preferred but chicken and veggie are also delicious. Have been several times and always have great service. Definitely a must stop when in old town!

This is a small family owned bar that sells empanada. They have beef, chicken, and chorizo empanadas and they were very tasty. We got a pina colda to drink on the side which was also good!

Best empanadas we ever had, and the drinks were on point as well! Priced very affordably, and it has a nice Vibe! Just minutes from the cruise port, this place is a must!

Probably the fastest service I've gotten out here. Sat down, told them we just was 2 beef and 2 chicken empanada, and they came out literally within like 7 mins! They were smack though. Cant figure out which one is better but we definitely were satisfied.

Excellent spot to sit back and enjoy times with friends - good food, music, and beer! Rincon Brewery lager hit the spot and my wife enjoyed her cocktail. Empanadas are delicious - esp. beef and pollo/onion & cheese.
Vernon W — Google review
My wife and I popped in here for a quick beer and snack and I honestly not expect to have the best empanada on the entire planet. These empanadas are so good, the homemade sauces are so good, the wait staff were very kind and informative. The space is super cool, if a little hot, but most places in the Old San Juan district seem to be. Cannot recommend more highly!

Mercado La Carreta is a lively restaurant located in Old San Juan, offering a vibrant atmosphere and friendly service. Situated overlooking Plaza de la Barandilla, it provides a great spot to enjoy brunch classics such as beer-battered chicken and waffles, Mallorca sandwiches, and jibaro platters with pork and sweet fried plantains. The restaurant also features specialty coffees from local producer Gustos Coffee.
First time visiting, me and my aunt Loved it, from the service to the food! We love the ambiance and our bartender Daniel was great! He made one of best Espresso Martinis I’ve tasted! And Jimmy was amazing to! We had a veggie omelette it was delicious! We will definitely be back’

My family and I visited Mercado La Carreta a few days ago and we enjoyed our experience. Right upon arrival, the staff made the atmosphere pleasant. Our waitress, Carol was the absolute best. She was able to explain any of our concerns about the menu and provide us with meal suggestions (that turned out amazing). She was also just a great time to be around. Now for the food! I had the Turkey, Bacon, Avocado sandwich. It was delicious. The bread was toasted to perfection and the flavors work well together. I also enjoyed the coffee here. It was definitely one of the best ones I had the entire trip. 10/10 would recommend

Our daughter came to this spot last time she was in P.R. she couldn't stop talking about it. So we came to check it out for ourselves. No wait, we we were seated immediately and served kind quick. Food was excellent and the drink were good. Place is a little pricey but worth it. Wifey had cheese cake French toast which was amazing, I had the veggie omelet. Vegetarian options are small.

My family and I came here for a quick breakfast before exploring Old San Juan and got more than expected! The food and café was so delicious and rich. We had an amazing server, Carol. She really made the experience 10x better, she was so funny and gave good recommendations. I appreciate when servers aren't hovering but are attentive. Great Job!

We ordered a coffee, espresso martini’s, and flat ham & cheese sandwiches. It wasn’t the best sandwich I’ve had in PR but it was satisfying with fresh French fries. It was a busy place but I think they still did well with service. I would return.

The food was amazing! We got the steak and eggs, and our waiter Perla recommended the Picaña with a honey spicy sauce—so good! Perla was super sweet and helpful. 10/10 recommend this place and would definitely come back again!

On my first day in San Juan I stumbled upon this delightful spot. The passion fruit mimosa was a great way to start of the day. Such a quaint space with gorgeous food! Definitely a must when walking the streets of old San Juan. ❤️🇵🇷
Heather D — Google review
We had a truly disappointing experience. We ordered the vegetable omelet along with coffee. The coffee was good, but the omelet was very dry and tasteless. The cheese wasn’t melted — or it had melted and then hardened again. Worst of all, we found a hair among the spinach! I returned the dish, and the staff just said “oh” and looked at it — no apology, no explanation. Paying for a poorly made and unhygienic meal like that was really frustrating. We came because the location looked nice, but I absolutely do not recommend this place. Don’t make the same mistake we did.

Mavi, also known as Mauby, is a traditional beverage made from boiling the bark of the mavi tree and then fermenting the mixture. It can be flavored with spices like ginger and cinnamon or infused with fruit for different variations. This popular drink can often be found at local roadside stands. Additionally, it is recommended to try empanadas while enjoying Mavi, as they are highly praised for their delicious taste and come with an extra sauce that adds to their flavor.
You want the local Puerto Rican food experience? You found it... Mavi. The outside is a huge shared concrete structure, with multiple shop owners, with vibrant colored facades and pricey offerings... however upon walking into this place, you realize you've found the humble gem amongst its bragaddocious sq ft occupiers... Simple, almost diner-like, and hands down, the meatiest, tastiest, and cheapest empanadas ive had... Clearly by the flakiness of the crust and the huge portion of filling, this place is well known for their local treats... and makes them well... $4... a steal... and served piping hot to the touch when broken open... .

Drinks were very very good quality but $27 for a small cup of mango lemonade that was mostly ice and a smoothie. Edit: The owner replied saying they use only a little ice but that is not true the cup was filled with ice Either way everything is expensive in the area so not surprising but just very expensive for a cup of juice I was surprised and asked if that is really there price before I paid she said it’s because the ingredients are fresh but still insanity

My first taste of PR. The service was super friendly and the food is legit tasty. Had the pork and chicken empanadas and a mango/coconut water drink. Perfect late lunch in a cute little spot.
Sue W — Google review
We weren’t pleased that around lunchtime their empanada selection wasn’t much considering their menu showed a lot of options. No veggie combo empanada and no spinach as well. Ended up with two broccoli empanadas and they were OK. They had a hard time putting together the Mediterranean salad we ordered (probably due to language barrier), but it came out really good. The strawberry banana smoothie was very refreshing.

I'll preface this with saying that I only came here late at night, 230am. Which if you're out and about when everything is closed or closing, this is one of very few options. That being said, I went here with a friend, the place had very few people in it, maybe 4 total, all of whom seemed to have been waiting a while. I should've taken that as I sign, but we wanted a snack. We ordered one quesadilla and one alcapurria. Not only was the food very mediocre, but it took an hour and a half to get us our food, we didnt get our food until 4am. Which is an insane amount of time to be waiting for a quesadilla and an alcapurria. Maybe the place is better during the day, but our experience being here late night was very bad.

Nestled conveniently between Old San Juan and the airport, Barbacoa Puerto Rico is a must-visit for barbecue enthusiasts. After attending a conference in the city, I found myself staying nearby at Ocean Beach and couldn't resist making multiple trips to this gem. As someone from Kansas City, where barbecue is practically a way of life, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their offerings.
It was recommended by a friend. In her recommendation was spot on, we had jumbo shrimp.Appetizer grilled excellent. We split a 1/2 rack of ribs with sweet potato fries. Very flavorable and falling off the bone. I will be recommending this place to my friends
Ray L — Google review
I am from Kansas City and barbecue is part of life. I love barbecue and have eaten it many places. To my surprise, Barbacoa really hit the spot. Four places where I recently had barbecue-- Galveston, West Palm Beach, Charlotte and Albuquerque-- were a bit disappointing. Someone at Barbacoa has the gift and knowledge to properly smoke their ribs. Their seasoning and smoking process is such that the ribs do not require any sauce. The ribs were tender with just enough bite to have the correct texture. Wow. In addition, the dirty rice completed the meal. Service was good, friendly and quick. There is a good size bar for those looking to drink. I should have tried the brisket and chicken but I had a scheduled dinner event later in the day. I would definitely recommend Barbacoa. The only drawback is the limited parking, which seems like a major issue in much of the San Juan area.
Wendell J — Google review
It took a few tries to eat here due to an unexpected kitchen closure (short staffed), but we are glad we eventually got to try it while in town. The food was quite good though we were sad the pulled pork and smoked chicken were sold out. The pastrami sandwich was very good and so were the ribs. The restaurant was incredibly smoky the entire time we were there - about 90 minutes. It was better by the time we were leaving but not entirely clear. That was the biggest draw back to our entire experience. If you’re smoke sensitive, I’d skip it if it’s smoky when you first walk in because it may never clear.

Food was great but service was even better. Everyone engaged & willing to be of premium service. Quite enjoyed my lunch visit!! Smoked piña coloda, pork ribs, Mac n cheese with a side of Thai ginger sauce (I mixed into the Mac) & then the KEY LIME PIE!! Happy happy girl ((:

This place exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious. Service was great and the entire staff was extremely kind to our 1yo daughter. The chef has won some cooking competitions and won the 3rd place on a world wide competition last year. Honestly everyone should know about this place. Beers were a little bit expensive ($10) on our personal opinion, but they were super deliciously cold which made it worth the price. We will definitely be back very soon!

Easy to find, locally owned and operated, and the staff is attentive, but still gives ypu space to feel unrushed! Bartender is an artist, and the portions are generous! Yesterday, as I walked past this establishment, I was intrigued and decided to give it a try. I must say, I was thoroughly impressed! The smoked chicken was bursting with delicious flavors and cooked to perfection, while the grilled shrimp was savory and scrumptious. Additionally, the establishment offers both indoor and outdoor seating, providing ample options for diners. Furthermore, the happy hour drinks were great - worth checking out!

This is my favorite restaurant in PR! I eat here every time I visit the island and it is always the best meal of the trip. This time, it was my first stop after the airport! There is free street parking or you can pull into their lot for $8 valet parking (not sure where they put your car but we had all of our luggage inside and it was safe). You pay for valet in cash or PayPal. We arrived around ~6pm and there were plenty of tables but around 7pm it started filling up so I’d recommend coming earlier if you don’t have a reservation. The drinks were incredible and I appreciate that they also have a robust mocktail menu too! The menu is diverse and lots of options depending on what you were feeling. I always get the taco appetizers and they’ve never disappointed AND whatever avocado entree they have, it’s huge and delicious!! This time I also got the tenderloin which was juicy and well seasoned as well as goat cheese on bread which was a nice starter. The staff have always been friendly and welcoming! My partner speaks Spanish but I don’t (I’m slowly learning!) but most if not all of the front-facing staff I interacted with spoke English. However I appreciated that they were very nice and encouraging when I tried to order in Spanish haha. Thank you!! I didn’t get to meet the chef or kitchen staff (they were busy!) but full compliments to them as well! Already can’t wait for my next trip to PR so I can eat here again!!

This was a fantastic meal and experience. Areyto staff were friendly, helpful, and made great recommendations. The food was full of flavor and well-portioned. Note. The menu is seasonal and rotates monthly. We went in October, and pumpkin was the ingredient of the month. We opted to get the soup of the day… a pumpkin bisque… which was fantastic. Also ordered corned beef croquettes and ahi tuna with coconut arepas. The croquettes were tasty and came with an avocado crema. I personally loved the arepas as they had a slightly sweet taste that paired well with the ahi tuna and green aioli, but my wife preferred the croquetes. Get them. Our entrees were delicious too. Wife got the filet mignon with truffled risotto. I ordered the chef special (fish of the day), which was Mahi Mahi with a pumpkin gnocchi and fried asparagus stalks. The fish was well seasoned and while it was a bit dry, the gnocchi and sauce hid the dryness. The star of the night was dessert. Pumpkin spice bread pudding. This was the best bread pudding I’ve ever tasted (and the only thing we took a picture of). Do not skip dessert! We ordered a cocktail and mocktail and both were good. All-in, great experience and a must visit restaurant while in SJ.

Moncho Pan Panadería is a renowned bakery in Cupey/Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, known for its delectable offerings. This monstrous sandwich is perfect for satisfying late-night cravings after a night of drinks.
The Cubano sandwich is big and super tasty. It has been a long time that I did not taste something so good. I tasted one in Miami, that was good, but compared with Poncho Pan's cubano is nothing. Real pork leg and ham. Also, people there is very friendly. Excellent coffee.

I’ve been going to this place for about 25 years now and it has NEVER disappointed. Small and cozy inside with just a few tables, and some tables outside too. Loyal to the owners Spanish (as in Spain 🇪🇸) roots with paraphernalia all over the place. They serve your typical assortment of empanadas, pastelillos, and croquetas, however their bread and butter (pun intended) are their sandwiches. I’m partial to the chicken sandwich due to personal dietary restrictions, but the tuna sandwich is also very good. I suggest getting the sandwich with Pan Sobao.

I’m soooo happy I found this cocktail bar. I tried a couple drinks and all of them were fantastic. The best part were the prices. $10-$14 for a drink that’s made with love and care? Go next door and pay $9 for a rum and coke.

Interesting place. The good: The drinks and service were great. The food was good as well. The other side: This places smell really weird. The music is quite loud and the tables and menus need updating. Would I go back? Probably, yes, the drinks were that good.

I cannot speak highly enough about Junglebird and the lovely bartenders. My husband and I showed up like a couple of nerds at 5:01 to be sure we could get seats at the bar. We got super VIP treatment by Robertson and Ed.. they schooled us on PR tiki history and served the most amazing drinks.. my favorite of all time the green swizzle that I’ve since been obsessed with recreating. The food was also bomb. This review is a bit late. Went in December 2024. Can’t wait to return this December!

I don’t say this lightly when I say, they have the best tuna tartare on the island. Coffee shop
Café Regina is a contemporary coffee shop in Puerto Rico that offers a unique experience for coffee enthusiasts. The owner, Kali Solack, incorporates the rich flavors of Puerto Rican agriculture into their offerings, such as turmeric tea with fresh pineapple juice and locally made sourdough topped with fresh ricotta and star fruit jam. The café is known for its experimental coffee creations like Coffee with tonic and the popular Dark N Stormy, a cold-brewed coconut syrup and ginger beer concoction.
Charming, stylish, and seriously good coffee! We visited Café Regina in Santurce after a lovely recommendation from a shop owner across the street and we’re so glad we went! The place has a super stylish interior, with thoughtful design and a warm, creative atmosphere. We had two coffees: I went for a large oat milk cappuccino, and my friend tried “The Stormi”, a unique house creation. Both were absolutely delicious smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. If you’re a coffee lover, this place is a must! For food, we ordered the stuffed avocado toast. At $10 per portion, the dish was beautifully presented and tasted amazing — but the serving size could be a bit bigger for the price. Still, quality-wise, it was totally worth it. Since it’s a popular and hip spot, there can be a short wait. But they’ve cleverly designed a side beach-style area where you can relax until a seat in the main space opens up. It’s a casual come-and-go vibe, so the wait time wasn’t too bad at all. We paid $35 total for two high-quality coffee drinks (including a signature mix) and two small dishes. Overall, Café Regina is a beautiful spot to start your day in Santurce highly recommended for coffee and good vibes!
Alessandra S — Google review
They are serious about their coffee at Cafe Regina. I asked for a pour over, and the bean that I asked for they no longer had, so the barista talked me through another option, and I could tell he cared about the coffee. I was delightfully met with a funky medium roast brew that was nuanced in flavor and almost tea like. My husband had a latte that was also wonderful. The place is quite crowded. There was consistently a line and rarely a table for those who wanted their drinks to stay. I can understand why it is so popular, but the small space and the high volume of people doesn’t make this a place where you want to stay awhile and read a book or journal or work. The space is bright and minimal with large windows and light woods and white. It feels like a trendy coffee shop in New York.

This is a very cute cafe with nice lighting and plants. A good open space with delicious coffee and breakfast items. The toast portion is a little on small side, so it might not fill you up. The pricing is comparable to the other trendy cafes in the area, just expect touristy pricing because of the location.

One of my new favorite cafes for a Sunday breakfast! Coffee is good, but the papaya bowl is out of this world!!!! I also love their pumpkin grilled cheese- absolutely amazing. However, it does get very busy, long line and limited seating. So be aware.

Cafe Regina is truly one of the coolest coffee experiences in San Juan! With a very hip vibe, the Cafe accurately represents the diversity of the City. It is lively and has a delicious selection of quality artisanal coffees, as well as a great menu. Most importantly, you will never have an iced cashew milk latte quite like this one! They make their own cashew milk and mix it with real maple syrup. That’s truly taking iced lattes to the NEXT LEVEL! ☕️👍🙏

We were recommended this cafe by someone we met at El Tap. This is a lively place and has a bright atmosphere. The food is great and baristas are amazing. Look at this latte art!
Kimberly E — Google review
Cute place , the cashew creamer house special coffee is delicious, the BLT tasted like peanut butter ( maybe they didn’t clean something between servings). They scream your name when you food is ready but this is a very busy place, you can barely hear them. I’d rather get a text message to know when my food is done. They ask if you want avocado on your BLT, skip it, too messy .Also toast was burnt and I had a random piece of turkey in my sandwich.
Sarah L — Google review
Tried the cashew latte and their papaya bowl (out of granola). Paid about $16 including tip. Pretty underwhelming… very cute spot and nice service and employees are nice. Not sure if they had WiFi, but all outlets are covered, so it’s not the best place to try to do work.

Very kind workers, delicious food, calm atmosphere. They once helped me when i thought i was being followed by a weird man and ever since then i try to stop by when i can. The prices are worth the quality, never had softer cupcakes!

Definitely the best cupcakes i ever had. Not cheap but worth every penny. Its a cozy coffee house with outstanding service.

We love Bien Dulce! Everything from the fine quality fresh pastries to the amazing friendly ambiance and excellent owners makes you glad you stopped by! My daughters college apartment includes a Bien Dulce apron souvenir of the multiple visits during her summer program at UPR San Juan. Be careful about going late, some items will be sold out!

Amazing treats all around! From cupcakes to panetelas, this place does it all! Fresh, wholesome ingredients are what make these fabulous treats so yummy! They also make their own bread!! My favorite is their lemon bars, you can feel them melting on your mouth!

El CAFETÍN is a lively spot in Old San Juan, perfect for starting your night out. It's popular among locals and visitors alike, offering cheap mojitos and a great beer and shot combo. The bar has friendly bartenders, good music, and games like Jenga and dominoes, creating a social atmosphere where you can easily meet new people. Crew members also frequent this bar for its relaxed vibes and delicious coconut mojitos.
Had a GREAT time visiting El Cafetín! We visited several times on our trip and kept recommending it to fellow travelers and other guests visiting the island that we would bump into in the lobby of our resort or during excursions. It's located on the outskirts of Old San Juan. Walking distance to 'El Castillo del Morro'. The 'Urbano' vibe is amazing and lively. As soon as you walk in, the music takes over and induces you to move to the rhythms. All the bartenders that helped us were very respectful, and courteous. We would like to highlight 'Jadiel' (in pic) he was fantastic. We tried all the flavors, but our favorite was the coco and parcha (passionfruit). We enjoyed the variety of patrons. The 'puro pari' vibes flow out onto the cobblestone streets. It never felt unsafe and both locals and tourist seemed to be there with the common objective: Enjoying life and the simple pleasures of a well-made drink. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Cafetín por una experiencia de otro nivel!

We had a great time!!!! They were super mega busy but they handled it well. Didn’t take too long for us to get our drinks. Enjoyed the vibes, music, the dancing, the men with no shirts, and the drinks!!! Great time! Great time!

Loved this spot! Drinks were great, service was great also… it’s packed so if you are uncomfortable with being very close to people or you suffer from ansiety I suggest you stay at ease…other than that go in dance through the crowd till you get to the bar and get served drinks by shirtless bartenders 🇵🇷💃🏼 PR will always be a good time
Joa C — Google review
The service was superb! I discovered it accidentally but visited multiple times. Especially, Yaniel and Luis are the best bartenders. Must-experience for Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Vika V — Google review
To me, it's an overhyped place. It is a tiny room and super dirty and messy, great vibes and boys take off the shirt, but nothing special
Travel G — Google review
El Cafetín feels like a Bad Bunny track come to life—think “Después de la Playa”, but you’re holding a mojito instead of a mic. Whether it’s 2PM or 2AM, the beat’s steady: loud, messy, joyful chaos. It’s not a bar it’s a rhythm. San Sebastián moves around it, the drinks hit like hooks, and the crowd sways like a verse about to drop. You don’t just go to Cafetín… you get caught in it.

security guard was rude and not showing integrery towards the biz giving tourist attitude for not taking a cap off another than that bartender 100%

- Drinks are really good and cheap, $10 for a medium Guava Margarita that comes with a ring candy. - Pretty good vibe although gets a little too crowded on late hours of the night, and its a small space. - Music keeps repeating over and over. Would recommend to bar hop. - Street parking only. - Cobble stoned narrow roads. - Seemed to be a gay bar? Or just a lot of LGBTQ+ people hanging out at that time.

The restaurant offers a variety of seafood specialties, including the delicious mofongo relleno de mariscos and octopus salad. This was a beautiful place to eat, they have both indoor and outdoor dining. My family and I ate here during our stay in Puerto Rico and we loved it so much we grabbed some food to go on our way to the airport!

This is my second time coming to Cueva del Mar. The parking situation is a pain and worse when it’s peak and evening hours but the stress goes away once you are finally seated and ready to eat! The staff is phenomenal, friendly, attentive and kind. The restaurant has plenty of space to sit when coming in groups. The atmosphere is very welcoming, very clean, and inviting. The menu is extensive and diverse with plenty of options to choose from. We ordered a platter with different appetizers, deep fried but it doesn’t taste like oil which is a good sign they keep the kitchen clean and change the oil when due. Ordered a piña colada which is a must when visiting the Island at least for me. I ordered a Mofongo con Camarones in the white sauce and devoured it like I hadn’t eaten in a lifetime. My fiancé ordered the Churrasco with the garlic shrimp and mamposteao, this man has eaten more meat in many different restaurants and swears that the churrasco was one of the best he’s ever eaten. It was very well made. Overall a great and pleasant experience, will definitely be back again.

Wow! The service was super fast, and the food was very good. We got in during happy hour, 4-7 pm. We started out with their drink specials of Sangria. Appetizers- emapnadas de Carrucho and Jueyes, dozen raw oysters Dinner- mofongo de camarones a la creola, Frutti de Mare pasta woth Garlic and Olive Oil Dessert - Flan de Coco Everything was very good. I believe the best time to go is on a Monday around 6 pm. The service was fast and very attentive to our questions about the menu.

Scryer Rum Barrelhouse & Rooftop is a must-visit destination for rum enthusiasts in Puerto Rico. This craft rum distillery and cocktail bar, located at 259 Calle Tetuan, offers a unique experience that blends creative flair with a neighborhood vibe. The owners' resilience after Hurricane Maria is reflected in the establishment's ambiance and offerings. Visitors can enjoy small-batch, cask-seasoned rums while taking in stunning views of Old San Juan from the rooftop.
Great little place we ran into walking the streets of Old San Juan. They make their own Rum and have some excellent drinks. We met one of the founders, Derek, and had a great conversation with him about his background and our home. They are looking to expand into New York and I think they will do great there. I had the Claude and Sherry and Dark & Stormy which were both awesome and appropriate for walking back to our cruise ship.
Greg D — Google review
As always, this is just my personal review. This place has its own style—if you're looking for a Mojito or other ordinary drinks, you’d better look elsewhere. Here, cocktails are for those who appreciate style and authenticity. They do have familiar drinks, but for the full experience, it's best to go for their signature cocktails. As for whether I’d come back—definitely yes! And if you have the time, visit the rooftop in the evening—it’s an unforgettable experience.
German G — Google review
Nice place in the streets of old San Juan with a great Atmosphere, good stop if you need a break to get out of the sun with very detailed cocktail menu. Had the Claude and Sherry was clean with smooth finish with their rum. Should have tried on the rocks but was pressed for time but was happy with my choice.

Fantastic little spot in the middle of Old San Juan. Great and friendly bartenders and amazing tasting rum. Rooftop was spacious and even a bar upstairs too. Great vibes all around.

Their house rum was quite delicious. We had time to kill for a reservation so we came upon this place and so happy we did. Their prices atmosphere was relaxing. The staff were upbeat and service was fast. Their prices were more than fair. All Their all the rum we tried was seriously delicious. I definitely should have bought more bottles. Overall if you’re looking for a chill place to hang and sip tasty rum give them a chance.
Coach T — Google review
A Hidden Gem in Puerto Rico! Scryer Rum is truly a hidden gem. Their house rum is absolutely delicious — smooth, rich, and unlike anything else I’ve tried. I’ve visited several whiskey distilleries across the U.S. and abroad, and this place easily ranks at the top of my list. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the passion behind their craft really shows in every detail. My only wish is that they could sell their rum directly on location, but beyond that, everything about the experience was outstanding. If you’re in Puerto Rico and enjoy spirits, this is a must-visit spot. Highly recommend!
Edward M — Google review
San Juan truly knows how to do rum! Scryers was a great spot to just chill and have a few cocktails to wait out the hottest heat of the day!
Kenzi — Google review
Delicious rum that tastes more like bourbon. Fun location. Mixed drinks are quite pricey and their spin on a pina colada left much to be desired. I'd love to get the rum at home for sipping.

Pio Pio is a delightful surprise in old San Juan, offering an amazing dining experience with outstanding food and spectacular service. The menu may be small, but the kitchen puts love and effort into every dish and drink, using locally sourced ingredients. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and hospitable. Guests can enjoy unique dishes packed with flavor and depth that are beautifully plated. The wine selection offers a pleasant surprise as well.
One of the best culinary experiences of my life. Chef Ciarán is a magician and every person that works there is just incredible! Do not miss the opportunity to go to this magnificent culinary gem! 1st course : lobster roll, homemade brioche with caviar and a tart with cream, cured egg, and truffle. 2nd: tuna crudo 3rd: house made sourdough, whipped ricotta with olive oil, prosciutto, and candied walnuts 4th: pasta with conch and spicy tomato sauce with fresh Parmesan 5th: porchetta with black beans 6th: pineapple upside down cake and coconut trifle with mango 7th: chocolate and hazelnut ice cream sandwich

We made a reservation for the Playlist Chef’s Table experience and WOW—-it was amazing. We were seated at the bar and right from the first moment we felt like we were a part of the back of the house team! The food was amazing—watching the chefs prepare the food with such love and care was a sight to see! We also got the wine pairings with each course. All were amazing and the wine service was great, too. Highly recommend this dining experience!
Kelly B — Google review
Pio Pio is a very cute coursed hole in the wall restaurant in the middle of Old San Juan. The chef is a cute Irish gentleman with a terrific Puerto Rican inspired menu. Highly recommend the Con Coco cocktail, which is basically an old fashion with coconut flavoring. The meal started with a cream tart, lobster roll, and a crudo. I especially liked the creaminess of the lobster roll. Following that was a swordfish tortellini — I’ve not had a fish tortellini before and I was pleasantly surprised at the texture and flavor! Easily my favorite with at the restaurant. It was magical to see the staff make the tortellinis in front of us. We liked the lamb and dessert as well. But the real star after the tortellini was the Irish coffee with an ice cream sandwich. Beautifully sweet but not overpoweringly so. Great vibe and a family feeling amongst the staff, they definitely are passionate about what they do! Do note that the meal will get into the $300s for two, so if that’s not your cup of tea then be warned.
Michael C — Google review
This is one of the top 5 meals of my life! Such an intimate setting, you get to talk to the chef’s and watch them create the amazing cuisines. I would highly recommend the tasting menu. On top of the food, had the best champagne and white wine I have ever had. As not a huge wine person I would have finished both bottles if I want so full from all the amazing food.
Thomas Y — Google review
I ordered the tasting menu expecting individual servings, but what we received were shared plates for two people something that was never explained to us when ordering. While that lack of communication threw us off, I have to say the food itself was amazing. The pasta was absolutely delicious, and the lamb was incredibly tasty. Despite the confusion, I’m happy to give them a second try.
Gabriel R — Google review
Pio Pio completely turned our night around after a disappointing experience at a restaurant nearby! The food was absolutely top notch. There were multiple times when we stopped to note that we had never tasted anything like the dishes we had at Pio Pio. The drinks were excellent too. The cocktail list was very unique and creative. Lots of interesting clarified cocktails. The drinks themselves were so good we ended up getting multiple rounds. We could tell that the owners and staff cared a lot about what they were doing, and this shined through our every experience there. Pio Pio made me want to move to San Juan permanently. 10/10, A+, 🔥
Joey G — Google review
Walked in and got a table for two without a reservation. Ordered the Con Coco which was strong but delicious. Also ordered the lobsters rolls, eggplant which was surprisingly yummy and the pasta with meatballs. Staff was super friendly. Was a bit on the pricey side but worth it!
Will C — Google review
This was a really fun tasting experience - creative big swings that all landed with us. The wine paring was pretty good too, call it an A-. We're glad we did it even if it wasn't life changing. And I hope everyone gets to try the "Puerto Rican Moonshine" (Pitorro?) at the end - definitely a special finish! My only very minor critique is that they do the check via POS terminal brought to your table while they wait. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but it just feels a little fast casual for an otherwise higher end dining experience.
