Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant
Marmalade is a stylish restaurant in San Juan known for its international menu and creative dishes. Chef Peter Schintler has crafted an ingredient-driven menu that combines local flavors with global influences, featuring dishes like ceviche paired with tostones and vegan poblanos rellenos atop spicy black beans and mole. The restaurant offers tasting menus ranging from five to 14 courses, with the option of a plant-based menu.
We were on our honeymoon and decided to splurge. So glad we did! Best meal of my life! First off the service was impeccable. They truly made you feel like a king. They knew it was a honeymoon dinner and brought us champagne and even a signed poster at the end with well wishes on it! The head chef and owner tries to make his rounds and talk to every table and tell you a little bit about the food. We did the tasting menu with the wine pairing. My favorite course was the famous white bean soup. My least favorite was the lamb meatballs, but they were still good. Every course was extremely flavorful and the perfect amount of food and wine. Worth every cent.

We had the most amazing honeymoon experience here — everything about it was great including the staff, the atmosphere, the attention to detail, and the food and drinks were unbelievable! A complete culinary experience. Every dish ended up being my favorite dish. At the end of our 5 courses the staff even hand wrote us a congratulations card for our honeymoon and it was hand signed by everyone. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone celebrating a special occasion because they go above and beyond to make you feel special :)

From the moment you walk in, the passion of the staff is unmistakable. Service is warm, attentive, and genuinely rooted in a love for food. The menu is both creative and thoughtful, showcasing ingredients sourced from local producers wherever possible. Every dish feels like a celebration of flavor and craft, executed with pride and precision. A phenomenal dining experience that blends hospitality, innovation, and a true sense of place.

Incredible time as had been our previous visit. Service was excellent, the entire staff clearly works as a team to deliver an impecable experience every step of the way. The food was all outstanding and our server gave excellent suggestions. Everyone acknowledged that we were repeat guests and they also brought out a small appetizer on the house as our reservation from the previous evening had to be rescheduled as they didn’t have water due to no fault of their own. We dined here last year when we came to Puerto Rico and this was probably the thing we were looking forward to the most on our return visit this year. The fluke crudo was definitely one of the best things that I’ve ever eaten in my life and both me and my girlfriend are big foodies. Amazing restaurant in every aspect possible, definitely recommend and will be back. Thank you!

Every bite was immaculate and surprising. At one moment, I felt transported to a quiet street in Italy with handmade pasta so delicate and flavorful it could’ve come from a local Tuscan kitchen. The next, I was reminded of home in Maine—seafood so fresh it tasted as though it had just come off the boat. Marmalade offers a luxurious experience without being overdone; the service was warm, attentive, and perfectly elevated. My husband and I ordered completely different courses and were equally impressed with each dish from start to finish. Every plate was thoughtful, beautifully presented, and full of depth. As a special touch for our honeymoon, they decorated our table with rose petals and made us feel like royalty. Meeting the chef at the end of the evening was the perfect finale—he was gracious, passionate, and genuinely kind. This is a restaurant that knows how to craft a memorable experience.

This is an amazing fine dining experience. Took my wife for her bday. This is truly an amazing place with amazing food, servers and Chef de Rang. The white bean soup it’s so tasty and delicious, they actually have already printed copies of the recipe available to the guests. We felt welcome and each plate and wines were explained to us. I had mistakenly consumed the garnished Fresno pepper and the Chef de Rang move quickly to get a fresh antidote 😂 of cold sweet wine to calm the spiciness and it worked perfectly. A 5 course meal for a party of two could range anywhere from $450 and up.

We’ve had beautiful meals all over the world with celebrated and Michelin chefs. This was the best meal we’ve ever had. EVER A few hours before our arrival I had a friendly call to check on preferences, allergies and restrictions. But this phone call felt different - it was casual but professional, welcoming, funny, and warm. We like to make early reservations so we can watch the energy change as guests fill the space. I recommend it just to visit with the knowledgeable and interesting front of house. Upon entry you’re surrounded with subtle elegance and, as you observe, more and more the elegance grows. While walking to our table I was handed a pashmina - but didn’t need it because the temperature of the dining room was perfect. A simple but much appreciated touch. The purse tables were also stunning and artfully crafted. I mentioned that we were celebrating a wedding anniversary. Each member of the team sincerely wished us happy anniversary as we walked in and all evening. The service is top-notch. Attentive without being overbearing. Each team member knew the menu and how to recommend dishes. The pre-fixe menu is a masterclass in culinary creativity. Every dish is beautifully presented with a sleight of hand table reset at each passing. Again, attention to every tiny detail is priority. Takes a long time to get to this… the cocktails are inventive, complex yet whimsical. And finally getting to the food… wow. Just wow. The flavors exploded on the palate. It’s evident that each course is crafted with care, using the freshest ingredients with unique flavors that work so well together you wonder why you haven’t seen it before. Every bite felt both familiar and exotic at the same time. This food brought my tastebuds into focus - couture for the mouth. We were both rendered speechless multiple times. From start to finish, the entire meal is a journey. Couldn’t possibly pick a favorite course. We were in a lovely corner booth with a giant pile of pillows. Near the final course I understood the need for the pillows as we were left in a state of bliss. I threw myself into them and took some deep breaths. Marmalade isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just treating yourself to an exceptional night out, this is a place where the food and service will exceed your expectations. Highly recommend come hungry and ready to be treated to exceptional service.

Had an amazing time at Marmalade! The food was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor — you can tell a lot of care goes into every dish. The service was super friendly and fast, and the vibe of the place is just perfect for a night out. Everything from the drinks to dessert was on point. Definitely one of the best spots I’ve been to lately. Can’t wait to come

Jose Enrique is an upscale Puerto Rican restaurant located in Condado, San Juan, envisioned by the celebrated chef Jose Enrique. The restaurant is situated in La Placita de Santurce, a lively area that transforms from a farmers market during the day to a vibrant street party at night. Jose Enrique, who hails from Santurce and is renowned for his innovative culinary skills, has been recognized as one of the best chefs in America.
José Enrique is well worth a trip if you are in San Juan. I visited this establishment with my family. From the moment we arrived the staff was warm and friendly. The cocktails were terrific and the appetizers were fantastic. We ordered the blood sausage, swordfish fillets, stuffed eggs, and pork skewers. Everything was fantastic, and the blood sausage was particularly good. It was spicier than others I have tried, but not too spicy. For dinner we had skirt steak with rice and beans, which was delicious and perfectly portioned. Others also had pork loin (off the menu), halibut, and lick your plate chicken. All of the food was great, but the chicken was very impressive. Of note, the batata y mojo is a mashed potato creation that was both surprising and delicious. It has vegetables on top and was slightly sweet. If you're anywhere near this place, I recommend it.

My wife and I were staying in Condado and wanted to have a nice dinner on a Sunday evening. We originally had a reservation for 9:00, then I received a text message from the restaurant, it said something to the effect that to due to some circumstances our reservation time had been changed to 8:15. It wasn't an issue for us, just pointing it out. The service is slow, but helpful, and I've come to expect that in PR. The food is very good, but at this price point, food excellence is expected. We had several starters and the chicharonnes were delicious. The mains were the guiso and fish of the day. The fish of day dish was fantastic and the guiso was okay.

A fun, flirty and spicy night out! This space strips away all the unnecessary flair and let’s the food SHINE. Beer is served in a short glass with paper napkins, the art on the wall is modern and entertaining. Alejandro was outstanding at explaining the menu and really pulling us into the experience. We ordered the chefs special and WOW we understood immediately why it was a menu staple. Each dish we had shone in its own right! I highly recommend this restaurant for a relaxed night away when you know the food is going to be outstanding.

We visited on Saturday night for dinner. They didn't open until 6:30pm but took our names. The place filled up pretty quickly. . Their menu was very simple and mostly written on the white board but the waiter explained to us more in detail. . We ordered crab, lion fish, and the picadillo. Food was good but we thought they were a bit too salty.
Chan P — Google review
Based on the reviews, price point, relax atmosphere, this sort of place is normally my sweet spot. I left wanting. The fried fish had an innovative look, good crisp, and flavor, but was a tad overpriced for the app., and the sauce was basic. The popcorn balls felt heavy in the sauce, a butter base with several herbs and something else, I'm not able to place my finger on, perhaps garlic. Though if it was garlic lacked the kick and flavor of the below ground food gold. I really had hoped for more. I would give it a second chance if back in the neighborhood. The service was very good. Always feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @joerazz

I'm sure writing a review is unnecessary for such a phenomenal restaurant, but in case you're on the fence - GO! Once you can find the place (no sign outside, but I love this level of quirkiness) you will enjoy the most amazing culinary experience. Every dish is fine tuned to exceed your expectations. I got a main course of broccoli and even that was next level. I like that Jose Enrique is not pretentious. While the restaurant is clean and modern, there are no frills. The design is simplistic and the energy is poured into the important thing - the food. You will be served intricate and artistic dishes by tattooed waitstaff in Doc Martens, and you will wonder why every other restaurant doesn't operate this way and let the food speak for itself.
Sarah P — Google review
Our dining experience here was quite memorable here..... My native PR friend told me that Jose Enrique is THE best restaurant in PR, so we went. It's apparently their new location, because they didn't even have the sign completed on the day we ate there, no biggie. The menu is fairly short, which I appreciate. I like having a focused menu, which means they can probably make the limited dishes very well. I ordered my fav thing in PR: skirt steak, thinking if skirt steak is good in most other places in PR, imagine how fantastic it would be here! we also ordered the halibut with their signature sweet potato mash. The plating of the skirt steak was a bit surprising, I definitely paused my breathing for a couple seconds being all confused after the dish was served, couldn't make sense of it, I think my mind was refusing to accept that's gonna be the dish I would get. Then I unhappily took a bite, the meat was undercooked (i ordered medium rare) and it was not tender at all.....how in the world did they manage to do that?! then I tried the halibut......it was sooo dry..... I asked for the floor manager and told him about the fish, and he happily sent it back and brought us back a new plate, we cut the fish through and it was raw inside. We sent it back again. Third time did turn out to be a charm. Nothing to complain about anymore, but the meat was not impressive, not even memorable. I do have to admit, the sweet potato mash with the avocado and papaya salad on top was definitely the golden star of that dish, and was in fact probably my favorite food I had in my entire PR trip. The flavor of it is brilliant: sweet potato, savory mash, with purple onion, slightly sweet but delightfully juicy papaya, then creamy avocado, and then a little bit of cilantro. It was heaven. whoever came up with it, must be a genius. Giving it 4 stars because of the sweet potato mash.
Lili Y — Google review
Many photos you see on Google maps are from the old location. The menu now doesn't include some of those delicious looking items. 1.5 hour wait. I thought they didn't take reservations, but asked me if I had one when walked in. The mashed yams were great. The chocolate cake was delicious. Only paid parking in lot nearby

10/10 dining experience. Sat at the bar with my husband to celebrate our first anniversary. Lucky for us, they had our favorite wine on their wine list so we started the night with a bottle. Our dishes arrived in a steady manner, and everything we ate was incredible. Service was spectacular, and we were very well attended to.
Shad B — Google review
Santaella was hands down the best dining experience we had in San Juan. Every dish was bursting with flavor and presented magnificently, the cocktails were delicious and balanced, and the service was warm, attentive, and genuine. The atmosphere is vibrant yet intimate, making it feel special without being stuffy. Yes, it’s pricier than most spots in San Juan, but the quality easily matches Michelin-level restaurants in NYC. Absolutely worth every penny and HIGHLY recommended!

Finally was able to make a reservation this past Saturday. We were sat immediately and Julian was our server. We started with drinks. My brother had the Paper Plane which he enjoyed and I had the Tamarind Margarita. We ordered half the menu and the standouts were the shrimp bao buns, jamon croquetas, goat cheese truffle honey quesadilla for appetizers. The entrees also met our expectations. My shrimp trifongo was creamy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. My hubby's NY strip steak was cooked to temperature and my brother said his fried chillo was the best he's ever had. The vibe when we entered (about 7pm)was weird since they were playing like elevator music but towards the end closer to 9pm they started playing house music. Was hoping they would dim the lights a little as the night progressed but it remained very bright in the dining room. Aside from that minor grievance, we had a very positive experience. Thank you Santaella.

So reservations were made for 5 ppl at 10:30PM but seems like they don’t have a time limit on how long people can spend on a table simple because and we spent over 25-30 mins waiting on a table…. At the beginning the experience was not it honestly, especially when you are hungry and the last reservation of the night. So it started off rocky and then when seated certain food items were not available, I really wanted to be optimistic and really give them a chance sooo here it goes… what made it special was a couple of things its right next to La placita, very busy yet fun to go fine dining and party afterwards. However, for me was ambience it was busy but the jazz music really gives the vibes a flow. Even though certain food were not available the waiters provide us with other options to select of seafood, appetizers, red meat. The Chorizo empanadilla delicious, filled with chorizo and maduro. The GOAT quesadilla was what won my heart, so delicious and flavorful with goat cheese over arugula, drizzled writhing a sweet syrup yummy. Popcorn chicken with a sweet curry was good too. But after being told the pastel on was no longer available the chef decided to make us one from scratch and let me tell you IT DID NOT Disappoint! It was delicious, the maduros were smashed in perfect texture, ugh reminds my oh my grandmas pastel on. Let just say it made the beginning of the experience forgetting. The Service very friendly and on top. Even though we did catch a dish that was a bit dirty but that didn’t stop us from getting drinks, which were great and strong.
Jennifer C — Google review
A bit disappointed. I feel this place is overrated. Nice location, good ambiance, but the food was just OK. Probably good for drinks and meeting people, but from a food quality perspective, I've been in other places in this town that in my opinion are much better for the price you pay. Service was cordial but a bit slow. We got couple of appetizers and one main dish to share but it took almost 2hrs to go through it. Only highlight of the night was the Goat Cheese Quesadilla, flavorful and the White Truffle oil gave it a good dimension. The popcorn chicken was ok, but won't be memorable. And we felt the Lacón Asado (Braised Pork) was too dry, and the caramelized part was not enough to balance it. It felt like a holiday dish that needed a cherry compote, or a cranberry sauce to complement it. For dessert they didn't have the Baked Alaska but we got an alternative Caramel Cake with flambeed meringue, but unfortunately it was extremely sweet. Desserts need a balance too.

The food and drinks were an absolute 10/10. Very unique flavors that work amazing together. Highly recommend the calamari appetizer and pork belly entree! Unfortunately, we did not have the best service during our dinner. Our server was not very attentive to take our orders and it took almost an hour for our entrees. I had told the host that it is my partner’s birthday and if they did something. He said he would tell our server and they brought out whipped cream in a ramekin with a candle…for the price and class of the restaurant - I expected so much better. I would have no problem paying for dessert if they had told me we had to get something.

Exceptional experience!! So great we were blessed to eat here 2 nights in a row!! Our flight was very late getting in and most restaurants closing, but Reinaldo found us 2 seats at the bar. We had grilled octopus appetizer and the seabass entree. The flavors were devine!! Jonathan at the bar has a real talent mixing the exotic cocktails that are offered. He was also very kind and helpful to suggest different dinner and drink options. The service here is exceptional. The second night we loved the ahi pops and tried an ages Puerto Rican rum tasting. Such a beautiful place with magical food and drinks and kind people. Thank you so much. I can’t wait to try out my new cookbook.

We got reservations for Santaella because we heard it was supposed to be amazing. Upon arrival we realized they gave us reservations for Azeteo even though the reservation clearly showed Santaella, which is still the same owners but their menu is significantly different with way less options. We ordered a good amount of food and it tasted good. The portions were small and the prices were on average for higher end food. Overall the meal was fine we were just looking forward to the Santaella menu!

Chocobar Cortés is a cocoa-focused cafe located in Old San Juan, offering a unique dining experience with chocolate-infused dishes for breakfast and brunch. The establishment is an extension of the fourth-generation chocolate-making operation, Chocolate Cortes, which has been producing locally and sustainably grown cacao varieties since 1929. The menu at Chocobar Cortés features a variety of sweet and savory dishes that incorporate chocolate into every bite.
This charming little spot in Old San Juan was absolutely adorable! The wall decor was fantastic, adding so much character to the place. The food was delicious, and the coffee was rich with chocolate notes—so flavorful. The espresso martini was one of the best I’ve ever had—smooth, well-balanced, and memorable. The service was warm and attentive, making the whole experience even better. You must stop by if you’re visiting Old San Juan!

This place was so cool! We sat at the bar and ordered the coconut frozen hot chocolate and the regular dark cocoa with cheddar cheese cube (on the side). Also got the little truffles in the case - these were delicious!! Unique experience while walking around Old San Juan. There is a door to the art gallery upstairs by the entrance, this was nice to check out afterwards. 10 out of 10!!

This place offers a great variety of food, and the service is excellent. Be sure to try the chocolate grilled cheese and the chocolate burger; they are both creative and fun dishes. The mocha coffee is superb, and brunch here is the best. The ambiance is pleasant, and the overall service was satisfactory.

This was such a unique experience. Who would have thought of a restaurant where everything is served with chocolate…even the burgers…of course the chocolate can be put on the side…. like the spicy chocolate that was served with the plantains. The restaurant was clean, and the food was delicious. However, the service needs help. Our server was Jonathan, and he was less than good. I cannot even say average as we waited a very long time for most of our drinks and food and the restaurant was not even full or busy…so this was a bit concerning. Now if he was new, I pray his service improves with time. Please check out pictures of food we had. The quesito was so delicious. Thanks.

We were intrigued by the idea of having chocolate in all menu items. It somewhat delivered. Our party had Latin smash burger, French toast, and grilled cheese with bacon. The chocolate sauce for the French toast was yum! The service was horrendous. Perhaps the server was new. He bungled the order so the grilled cheese arrived way after the other food. He also charged for the iced Americano even though we canceled it because they could not make it decaf. It was a fun restaurant with good food. I hope they work on training the servers better.

Strong and Delicious! Everyone was super polite and helpful. Multiple people helped us with our family's orders (not everyone could decide what they wanted the 1st time we ordered) they explained our options and were very patient with everyone in our group. 5 Stars For Sure!! **That is More Appreciated Than They Know!!**

Very interesting cuisine. A touch of chocolate in most of the dishes. Unique taste for chocolate lovers. Loved the art exhibit upstairs for a children's foundation.

Fellow travelers, when in Viejo San Juan, please visit Chocobar Cortés, the definitive Puerto Rican chocolate experience. This location is beautifully decorated with images from what seems to be past advertisement campaigns. They even have a wall covered with old metal chocolate moulds. Walk to the back of the seating area to find a display honoring the short stories that used to come packaged with the bars themselves, and a heartfelt letter from a longtime fan and consumer. During our visit, we ordered the following: - Don Ignacio (made with Barrilito 3-Star Rum) - Chocolate Old Fashioned (made with Woodford Reserve Bourbon) - Churros - Quesito Cortés Our favorite drink was the Don Ignacio, which to no surprise, acts as the flagship drink of the establishment. Both glasses were dipped in chocolate that hardened which just added to the beautiful presentation of the cocktail. The excelent service, inviting setting, and quality cocktails and products will certainly make you say: ¡Rico Chocolate Cortés!

Lote 23, located in Santurce, is a vibrant food park and community center that opened in late 2016. It offers a variety of dining options from kiosks and Airstream trailers, serving everything from hearty plates of pernil to light poke bowls and handmade popsicles. The park also hosts events like yoga sessions, film screenings, and artisan markets.
Amazing place with loads of great food and drink options. Fabulous cocktails, good craft beers and tasty food. The Lot I’d full of young, beautiful, trendy people. I had a poke bowl and my companion had ramen, both were delicious. Absolutely go here if you’re in the area

Really friendly service. Lots of food options, plenty of seating, good music, public bathroom, nice art, easy to get to. Love the atmosphere. Saw a roaming hen with two small chicks.

I loved the different choices of food options we could choose from. It was a nice easy walk from the art museum too. The food was delicious

The drinks at Tequila Cantina are delicious and the bartender is super sweet. We came here after trying to go to La Casita Blanca . It was a 2 hour wait there . Mofongo here was great but don’t do Bicteca . The pork was little too salty. If you are a New Yorker (Nuevayol in the house ) go for the drinks and maybe pizza , the locals love their pizza here .

First time coming here, loved it. Awesome for the whole family LOTS OF VARIETY from drink like beer rum mojitos, Mexican food, pizza, soup, burger, ice cream. Definitely recommend it to everyone. Went to Postreo Jaus, PIRA.RUM (Watermelon Mojito), Deep Dish (cheese deep dish & meat lover tavern pizza) today. All were awesome

Very nice touristic place for a beer or a coctail. Even better at night. We ate a Carribean food from the green track . Very delicious but pricey. (16$ with tax). They say that PR is a bit cheaper than the US but the prices here are still expensive. Nice for a drink only.

Vianda, located in Santurce, is a trendy restaurant founded by former NYC chef Francis Guzman and his wife, Amelia Dill. The stylish wood-paneled bar draws a diverse crowd of visitors and regulars for early evening cocktails. The farm-to-table menu showcases the island's culinary heritage with dishes like sourdough tostadas and raices locales. The restaurant's laid-back vibe features friendly service and minimalist decor with white walls and hanging plants.
An excellent wine list, sophisticated atmosphere, excellent food, and top-notch service. I wish I had a place this good near home: an awesome vacation weekend dinner. The bread was delicious and forgot to take a picture of the pigs head dish that was unexpected and especially tasty. I'd make it a point to get here anytime I am traveling to San Juan.

Made a reservation to see what this restaurant was about. Parking is a 3-4 minute walk if you can't find a spot on the street. The bar looked well stocked, and able to prepare any cocktail you would want. The food was high quality, but also lacking in quantity. I ordered the crispy pork belly with fried rice in a coconut curry. The pork belly was as good as any you would find in a Cantonese restaurant. However, I was expecting a little more for. $30 dish. In the picture, you can't see the rice as it was hidden under the shallow pond of curry. The curry had good taste with the right amount of spice and peanuts Still needing more, I ordered the fried chicken. This plate was more substantial, and finally filled my stomach. Overall, if you're looking to taste finer cuisine in San Juan, this place is it. Just be prepared to spend more to be satisfied.

I came here for an eerily dinner on a Thursday night and left utterly pleased with my experience. The service was stellar and the drinks were so, so good. The food was truly Michelin star level quality. Highly recommend it! Special shine for the ceviche and the pork belly dishes.

Went to Vianda to celebrate a special night of friendship, and it did not disappoint. It made the night even more memorable. Our drinks, En Las Nubes, Corazón de Melón, Pika Piña, and Pomarola Fizz, were crafted to perfection. They were delicious, balanced, and delightfully exotic. We tried a variety of dishes. The Ceviche was fresh and creative. The Secreto Ibérico and Pastelón de Pernil were inventive takes on Puerto Rican flavors. The Crepas de Morcilla had flavors that made me dance with every bite. The Agnolotti de Maíz were puffy pasta pillows filled with deliciousness. To finish, we had the Tres Leches with pistachio, which was subtle but tasty. Our servers were attentive throughout the night. The vibe was enjoyable, although it was a bit loud, which made conversation with companions slightly challenging. I would definitely return and recommend this place

Not to miss!! This was the best meal we had during our entire stay in San Juan. The atmosphere is simple - don’t be fooled by that because the food is top notch. Made me recall some of the places I dined at San Sebastián Spain. Go hungry and thirsty… worth every bite and every penny! We opted for high top seating by the window. The bar seating also looked great and people seated there were enjoying it. Thomas did an amazing job helping us navigate the menu and the portions so we could try variety of things. We kept raving about the Crudo for days - it was that good! Then the unassuming cabbage arrived and sent us to heaven in a speed train! The goodies kept on delighting the palate. Desert cocktail, the clarified espresso martini was amazing and complemented the pistachio tres-leches so well. Chef also stopped by to check on how our meal was going. So if you want to have one great special meal while in San Juan - this one is it, enjoy!

The drinks are very creative, depths and delicious. Foods are small plates but no lack of flavors. Farm yo table feels. Definitely come back

For the cost and accolades this restaurant received, I had higher expectations. Nothing was bad but nothing was amazing either. We ordered grilled cabbage, eggplant empanadas, fried chicken, catch of the day with mofongo, and pork stew. My favorite was the mofongo, as the garlic sauce was done very well, but the fish was a bit overcooked (better than being undercooked though). For dessert, we ordered the popcorn de sundae and tres leches. Again, both were fine. The staff, however, were super friendly and accommodating. They prepared a birthday plate on short notice.

I loved the clarified tomato cocktail and the grilled prawns the most. The prawns had a nice smoky flavor and were perfectly savory, and the Pika Pina was great too. (The mezcal base was spot on)

Restaurant
Cocina Abierta, which translates to "open kitchen," is a cosmopolitan restaurant in San Juan led by Argentine chef Martin Louzao. The restaurant offers innovative tasting menus with wine pairings and cocktails, emphasizing pan-Latin cuisine with influences from the Caribbean to the Mediterranean. What sets Cocina Abierta apart is its interactive experience for diners, as it features an open kitchen where guests can watch the talented kitchen staff prepare diverse creations.
While in Puerto Rico we wanted to support the movement for food sovereignty through sustainable farm to table dining. Cocina Abierta was a wonderful experience with a vegan tasting menu option. My husband and stepson both agreed that the vegan dishes were truly the best, they did the menu very well. Nice cocktail menu as well, good service, we had a lovely evening.
Lynette K — Google review
We arrived earlier than our reservation time and they seated us immediately. The bartender was generous with his pours; the drink tasted delicious and was worth the price. Most places they charge you a lot but there's so little alcohol in the cocktail. Not here. The food was phenomenal! Five course dinner and each course was a full serving. We couldn't eat it all but we definitely tried. This is one of those restaurants that even when you're full, you still keep eating because the food is SO good!! I seriously recommend coming in hungry because this chef will make sure you leave completely satisfied.

We had a fantastic time at Cocina Abierta, we did the 5-course menu & it was a fabulous representation of elevated traditional cuisine. The wine selection is also great and well priced, and we are very appreciative of Oné who took amazing care of us. We will be back!

You can just walk in to enjoy a nice meal or attend one of their experience events where you can try an amazing selection of unique dishes. They are very good making accommodations for allergies and will provide options to substitute an ingredient or the whole plate with a delicious dish.

A uniquely wonderful dining experience from start to finish. Each dish was a feast for the senses and everyone we interacted with was gracious and kind. The highlights for me were the duck mofongo and the “wildcard” cocktail made by the incredibly talented in-house mixologist, Rafael. This was such a special evening and I hope to return someday!
Marilyn F — Google review
I made a last minute reservation here (day before) and while it did require credit card information and come with a cancellation fee, there were still good dining time options available (18:30). I loved the structure of the menu before I even arrived. You have the option to effectively create a cost-efficient “combo” by picking an item from each “act” on the menu for a $85 5-course meal. You can also order Ala carte. You can also order one 5-course combo and add a couple Ala carte options. We went with two adults and one child and ordered one course and 5 items ala carte. We ordered the croquettes, empanadas, and sweet potato naan from the prologue section, all of which were delicious. From the main menu, we ordered the crudo, the snook, gnocchi, beef steak, duck mofongo, wahoo, and cacao dessert. Our favorites were the sweet potato naan (we ordered two servings), the snook, the beef steak, and the duck mofongo. I love experiencing multiple flavors and textures in one bite and all of these dishes offered that. The naan came with three different sauces (my favorite was the honey butter). The snook had two different sauces and capers and edible flowers. The beef steaks came with crispy onions, plantain balls, and pineapple vinegarette. And the mofongo was so smooth, paired with a consume and guava hoisin marinated duck. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and accommodating as well as kid-friendly. Service was super quick - we were in and out of there in 1 hour and 15min, even after ordering additional food after we finished our first round of orders. The total came out to $200 before tip for 2 adults and 1 child. It was still very quiet around 18:30 but started picking up from around 19:00-19:30. There’s also a parking lot right next to the restaurant for $7, which was very convenient.

This had to be my absolute most favourite meal and restaurant we went to during our stay in San Juan! It was 10/10 with absolutely everything from the locally sourced ingredients, to the unique cocktails, spectacular service, and the flavourful and well thought out out courses - or Acts as they are called on the menu! We opted for the 5 course tasting menu, and were not disappointed with any of our selections!!! From the Rainbow Runner Crudo, to the Breadfruit gnocchi, and Croillo Duck Mofungo - EVERYTHING was amazing! I’ve never been a huge fan of gnocchi- but I honestly could eat the gnocchi from Cocina Abierta every day without complaint!! The ambience in the restaurant is stunning — and definitely makes it a restaurant that you can go to for date nights, special celebrations or whenever you feel deserving of a treat!! Next time I visit San Juan, I will definitely be back!

Puerto Rican restaurant
Nestled in Old San Juan, La Casita Blanca is a charming restaurant that has been serving both locals and tourists for over 40 years. The name "Little White House" perfectly captures the simplicity of this place, with its potted plants, plastic tablecloths, and old rum bottles used as vases. The menu is exclusively in Spanish and is handwritten on a weathered chalkboard. Upon arrival, guests are greeted with complimentary codfish fritters and plantain soup.
My family and I went to La Casita Blanca on a Saturday night expecting things to be slow or would take long. We were mistaken, after entering they accommodated our group of 8 plus a baby we were immediately seated with warm smiles from all of the employees. Our Waitress, Yoselin was cheerful and a delight. We asked for her recommendations and her recommendations were just what we were looking for, typical Puerto Rican dishes. We were welcomed with sopa de plátano and bacalaito. After ordering our food, it came out quickly and the food was spectacular. The busboys and other servers were very quick to clean up any empty plates and with a joyful attitude. This was truly an experience to remember and a highlight of the Puerto Rican hospitality. 10/10 would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Puerto Rico.

My husband and I went to La Casita Blanca on a Saturday afternoon thinking it might be busy or take a while, but we were pleasantly surprised. As soon as we arrived was seated right away, greeted with warm smiles from the staff. Our waitress, was so friendly and full of positive energy. She gave us great recommendations — exactly what we were hoping for: authentic Puerto Rican dishes. We were welcomed with sopa de plátano and bacalaito, which were both delicious. Our meals came out quickly, and everything was absolutely amazing. The busboys and other servers were also very attentive, keeping the table tidy with cheerful attitudes. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that truly showed the warmth of Puerto Rican hospitality. 10/10 — highly recommend to anyone visiting Puerto Rico!

La Casita Blanca is an excellent local restaurant, away from the typical tourist spots. The decor and ambiance are truly amazing. Fortunately, our wait time was only about 10 minutes, which is quite rare; usually, you're looking at a wait of 1 to 2 hours. However, finding parking took us around 20 minutes, so opting for valet service would likely have been a smarter choice. We ordered carne guisada and bistec encebollado, both beautifully presented. While the flavors were delightful, a touch more salt would have enhanced the dishes further. The service was decent, though we did have to wait a bit to get our server's attention on a few occasions. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience!

We knew the food will be fabulous so it was no shock! We came on Thursday around 2 pm and they close at 4pm on Thursday, thus, no wait for us. We’re seated immediately. Food was 5 stars. I got a Piña colada which was the best I have had! Sprinkle of cinnamon on it was the golden touch. We got the stuffed avocado and skirt steak and fried cheese. All very good. 5 stars all around.

i now know why this is bad bunny’s favorite restaurant. it was absolutely incredible. best meal i’ve had on my trip! we came on a thursday around 2:30, they close at 4 and the wait was about 10 min long to be seated. they give complementary balacao fritters and plantain soup which was amazing to start. we got the beef stew and the skirt steak, both came with rice and it came with a plate of bean soup. also got their espresso martini which was so good. i highly recommend this restaurant and if i return to san juan i will be back!

I came here because of an influencer on IG. The place always had a line wrapped around, with a wait of about 30 mins long. The decor is very homey with plantains and plants hanging all around as the main decor of the place. They have seating on two levels. We sat on the top level. Their menu is limited and to the point. I ordered their coconut arepas stuffed with crabs as an appetizer, fried pork chops and my friend ordered their garlic shrimp both came with yellow rice. I did not like the taste of the crab, it was stewed and frankly didn't taste like crab meat at all to me. The arepa itself was tasty. I enjoyed my pork chops though they were on the small side. My friend did not enjoy his garlic shrimp, it was lacking flavor. Overall, the experience was much to be desired and the food was overpriced. I forgot to mention they gave us a soup before our meals, I believe it was green plantain, that was very tasty.
Tiffy L — Google review
Our visit to La Casita Blanca was excellent! They provide plátano soup and bacalao for the table. They had a variety of aguas frescas to try. We had the tamarindo and guava aguas fresca which were good. They bring out a large menu for you to select your plate. Each plate offers sides such as rice and beans, rice with pigeon peas, or tostones. We had the aguacate relleno de camarones al ajillo with rice and beans and bistec empanado (not pictured). The food came out fast and was delicious. If you like spicy they have a house made hot sauce that was a good pairing with the food and is available to buy. We got there around 1 pm and waited a little bit but they do their best to keep the line moving. The service was excellent with the server checking in with us regularly. The atmosphere was great you really felt like you were at someone’s home eating authentic Puerto Rican food. There is street parking but there are a lot of car mechanic businesses around the restaurant and we had to park a few blocks down. Another option would be getting dropped off by uber/lyft, which we saw a lot of peoplw do. We will definitely be back!
Jasmine G — Google review
Food was amazing, service was great. You may have to wait for a table but it wasn't long and so worth it. Make sure you grab a bottle of their hot sauce to take with you because it's that good!

Verde Mesa is a charming restaurant located in the heart of Old San Juan. The cozy and rustic ambiance, with pressed-tin ceilings and vintage furniture, sets the stage for a delightful dining experience. The menu features superb Mediterranean-Caribbean fusion cuisine, with a focus on using indigenous tropical ingredients and fresh local produce. Vegetarian-friendly options are plentiful and inventive, such as the refreshing ceviche-style chayote salad and hearty pumpkin and barley porridge.
While in Puerto Rico we wanted to support the movement for food sovereignty through sustainable farm to table dining and it led us to Verde Mesa which was an incredible dining experience. The moment we entered the restaurant we were greeted with boisterous conviviality and an ambiance that was cozy, creative, and full of personality. The Local Tomato Salad was excellent, even our 16 year old was surprised how much he liked it because he usually doesn't eat tomatoes. Vegan friendly menu. The Verde Mesa Rice was a really standout dish and the guys loved the Purple Cloud dessert. This is a restaurant I can't wait to go back to.

Top of my list! Truly a gem. Everything we tried was spectacular, from cocktails to appetizers to main dish to dessert. Our waiter, Pedro, was telling us you can't go wrong with any dish in this place and I believe him. Nice decor, classical, but magical. The infusion Cocktails were unique. Tiradito de Atun with Passion Fruit was gone in seconds. Lamb-filled Cappelletti, nice Moroccan flavors. For mains, we were recommended their Verde Mesa house Rice (Vegetarian), a MUST try. And we also shared the Pork Cheeks, and they were a perfect blend of flavors with the rice. Both enough portions to share for two people. Almond Flour Dark Chocolate Mousse Cake to finish a perfect dinner, so rich, but very well balanced in sweetness. I believe this place has been in operation for 16-years, I wish them many more to come. They seem to have achieved culinary perfection. P.S. Pedro was so cordial, welcoming and friendly it really made our night special, Thank You!

Verda Mesa is a gem in San Juan! This farm-to-table restaurant not only delivers fresh, flavorful dishes but also a truly memorable dining experience. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with just the right mix of rustic elegance and cozy charm. We ordered the arroz verde with snook (robalo) on top, and it was simply outstanding—the flavors were vibrant, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented. Every bite felt like it was crafted with care and made from thoughtfully sourced ingredients. The service was excellent as well—attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming, which added even more to the experience. From the atmosphere to the presentation, every detail reflected passion and dedication. Highly recommended for anyone seeking delicious food with a local touch and an atmosphere that feels both special and comfortable.

From amazing decor, to tasty drinks, and food, what else do you need? Christina was our server tonight. She was wonderful and patient. I was worried that the Lavanda-rita would be soapy and too strong. She assured me it's strong, but not at all soapy. I'm happy I grabbed it, because it's truly a remarkable drink. It's perfect. Next up, appetizers that I will think about forever. Fresh tasting tuna with a fun spiced twist. Toasted scallops with pineapple galangal. I recommend eating with a spoon, so you scoop up all the goodness in one bite. Main dishes were star plates. I had the Tuna with daikon caramel, bok choy, and pumpkin. I actually teared up, the fish was well seasoned with a kiss of ginger that brought everything together beautifully. My boyfriend had the snook on top of cabbage, fareeka, ghee, ginger. It reminded me of my grandma's cooking in the best way. Like food for my southern soul, it was such a comforting palate. And then to top everything off, the passion fruit panna cotta. Heaven. I'm an emotional person, and this place and service made me cry. I don't know if I cried because this experience was near perfect or if I'm sad I can't have it again soon. Thank you, Verde Mesa team. I will be spreading the good word about you to everyone in New Orleans that will listen to me. To anyone reading this thinking about going here, do yourself a favor and please support and enjoy a fantastic place. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

La Factoría is a vibrant hangout with a rustic-chic vibe that has gained international acclaim for its excellent cocktails and classic bar bites. It's a local favorite in Puerto Rico, known for introducing mixology to the island. The bar consists of four different spaces, each with its own theme, including a room filled with rum-fueled dancers and a DJ playing until late. The middle space features old-school salsa music and boasts one of the best dance floors on the island.
It's probably the best cocktail bar I have ever been to. Great vibe. I feel like you're back in the Hemingway error. The bartender was awesome and talented. Made me a paper plane and my wife and lavender mule. Excellent. Highly recommend this place

This was, hands down, our favorite spot in San Juan. We went both in the morning and at night, and both experiences were amazing. The bartenders were incredibly kind and professional — they prepared our cocktails right in front of us, based on personal recommendations, and really made us feel special. The cocktails were absolutely fantastic. We tried several different ones, and each had its own unique and delicious flavor. The atmosphere is that of a stylish, elegant bar — I’ll share some photos! Whether you’re looking to relax after a long, hot day or wind down after a night out, this is the best bar in Old San Juan. Highly, highly recommended!

Oh my god, La Factoría with live salsa completely blew my mind! The vibe, the dancing, the music — it’s all just incredible. Definitely a place you can’t miss. The cocktails are excellent, and it’s such a cool experience discovering hidden little bars behind different doors. It does get really hot inside, but honestly, I had an amazing time and would go back in a heartbeat.

I went to dance at this place with my friends because everyone recommended it. It did nit disappoint. It 's located in Old San Juan. Every room in this 2 story building has a bar with a different theme and music, so you can walk around from room to room and enjoy different types of music rhythms like Salsa, techno, reggaeton, techno, etc. The salsa room was packed with people dancing. It seemed like a good combination of locals and tourists.
Yarleny R — Google review
It's somehow highly rated, but not worth the hype. It's kind of different bars all in one place where you can hop on, but becomes costly as you step up! You go here just for the atmosphere, but not for anything else. Cocktails and the food are good and so is the location.

Reviewed as a bar when looking for delicious drinks this place was ok at best. We arrived close to open and all the additional rooms were closed, so we were told lots of drink options weren’t available. Staff were friendly and service speed was decent. It definitely sounds like this place is a lot of fun at night as basically a club, but definitely not a place for amazing drinks. If you’re looking for great drinks go to Kane Rum Bar. Overall for all the amazing reviews this place was ok, so if you want the best experience for what they offer go at night.

La Factoría has the reputation that it has for very good reason!!! It IS the epicentre of fun, excellent vibes, superb live music and salsa dancing with people at all different levels. We went after finishing a late dinner on a Saturday night, and the vibes that we were hoping for - we received with open arms! There was no long line to get in, and it was definitely crowded inside. Getting drinks wasn’t too crazy of an ordeal — but most importantly, and I cannot stress this enough, it was SUCH an amazing time!!

This bar definitely has a great atmosphere. It has different rooms and each room has its own bar. Music is always on point here; can be loud but you’re still able to talk. It’s a tourist area, prices are according to that. Tip: there’s an area most people don’t know about. Have fun looking for it.

Barrachina is a historic indoor-outdoor venue located in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is renowned as the birthplace of the world-famous Pina Colada, which was created by Don Ramon Portas Mingot in its magnificent courtyard back in 1963. The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring Spanish, Puerto Rican, and international dishes that cater to every palate. Whether you're craving traditional local specialties or familiar international cuisine, Barrachina has something wonderful for everyone.
The food was absolutely amazing!!! First time in Puerto Rico and I would highly recommend. The staff was very welcoming and helped us with food selections. There's construction going on but still made the best of it. We are on a cruise and stopped in San Juan and was suggested this restaurant. The garlic shrimp was delicious. Pina Coladas were good very pineapple tasting. We also tried the Puerto Rican Delight. The empamadas looking things were good and the corn sticks were yummy. We were not a fan of the croquettes but that could be just us.

Barra China in Old San Juan is a good place to drink a cold and delicious piña colada at a reasonable price. The food was just ok and nothing to brag about, but tasty! I’ve always liked the tropical 🌴 atmosphere at Barra China, but after years and years of visiting this bar/restaurant I think that some remodeling and updates to the venue will bring in more business. The piña colada recipe continues to be the star ⭐️ of the show and the service friendly as always. See you soon BC! 🇵🇷

We tried their famous piña coladas—they were good, though I was hoping for a thicker, creamier texture. The appetizers were solid overall, but the standout was definitely the stuffed plantains. They were packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. A tasty start to the meal in a lively atmosphere.

Fun to try the first Pina Colada. We ordered food too and I would NOT order the skirt steak. I'm not sure what it was marinated with but we couldn't even take a bite and ended up paying for a full uneaten plate. We also had the seafood Mofungo. It wasn't my favorite but the seafood was decent. We did like the appetizer plate (2 person portion was easily split by 5). The staff were sweet and friendly! Nice little gift shop next door too.

We went for the piña colada and it was good. They were closing so we were only allowed to get it to go. I felt like I was drinking my mom’s fermented pineapple juice extract. I think it was because it was the original, the bar tender couldn’t explain to us the meaning of the taste of it because to us it was different from other ones we had.
Ingrid H — Google review
If you come here stick to the Pina colada drinks!!! Read more and you’ll find out why. Let’s start with the outside, gorgeous exterior, great photo opportunities. We walked inside and waited for the hostess. We debated whether on grabbing drinks to go vs enjoying drinks at the bar but it was crowded. After waiting a couple of minutes at the to go bar we decided to dine in. Service was still slow at the dining area and the waitress made a comment that she would not be able to greet our table anytime soon since she had other tables. We were there for almost 20minutes or so before we were able to place our order. Eventually she greeted our table and she was fairly pleasant. Of course we ordered Pina coladas which were absolutely delicious. My homegirl is a slow drinker and surprisingly she finished her drink before me! The tostones with pollo and plantanos with mariscos were decent. It lacked flavor but for the price and how hungry we were at that moment we still ate it.

Restaurant
El Jibarito is a long-standing restaurant in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, known for serving classic regional and Caribbean-style dishes. The restaurant offers a family-friendly ambiance with salsa music playing in the courtyard and simple decor. Despite its casual atmosphere, El Jibarito has earned a reputation for having some of the best mofongo in the area, attracting both locals and tourists.
During our recent visit to this restaurant, we were greeted by a waiting list. The duration of the wait can vary. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with authentic decor. However, parking is limited. The service was exceptional, and the cuisine was extraordinary. Our meal consisted of fried chops, arroz con gandules, garlic shrimp, fried plantains, white rice with beans, and cube steak with onions.
Kendry R — Google review
The staff were amazing and the inside of the restaurant is super fun. The food though was lacking for most of our group (mofongo was the winning meal). Everything was lacking flavor and the salads were just some clumps of lettuce with a tomato chunk with no dressing. No one in our group was happy with the food and we just ate because we were hungry but we didn't bring anything back with us. Steaks were thin, chicken had no flavor, the shrimp were sad, and the rice was so-so. The drinks were good and the restaurant is located in a popular location and was packed on our visit. Maybe their food will work for you but we'd recommend looking around because there are lots of restaurants nearby. Good luck 👍

Hands down some of the best Puerto Rican food on the island. Every bite tasted authentic — perfectly seasoned, cooked with love, and full of flavor that reminded me of true homemade comida criolla. Located right in the heart of Old San Juan, this spot captures the essence of Puerto Rico both in taste and atmosphere. If you’re looking for real Puerto Rican cuisine, this is the place

This was my first experience with Puerto Rican food and this was really good. I had the red snapper with mofongo and it was so good! Everything was awesome! Great service. No wait time. Loved it! Will be back!!
Sharon N — Google review
We had dinner here, and had to wait a bit for the table but we were fine with that. We saw that people who came after us were seated before us though. Once we finally got seated, no one brought us any menus, so that was inconvenient. We had to grab them ourselves from the front. We had the baked filet and baked salmon, the filet was better than the salmon. The green plantain and trifongo were pretty good.
Maryum B — Google review
This is one of the most recommended places in Old San Juan. Of course you have to wait because the place is not huge and the service is not that fast, but once the food arrives, you understand why it took so long. I had the Plato Navideño (Christmas dish), which has a bit of everything. The food has a homey taste that you’ll love. Definitely would come back!

When I was a kid my mom made cube steaks regularly. Haven’t had one since visiting this restaurant over 50 years later. It was so tasty. The yellow rice was good and even better with garlic sauce on it. My husband had the garlic chicken that he said was great. Sorry no food pics. We were so hungry we forgot. But definitely authentic PR food. Don’t miss this place.

This place was very good. We had a large party so had to wait a bit. It’s a little cramped inside overall but worth it for the good food and drinks. Our waitress made recommendations to our party. Some had salmon, shrimp dishes, steak and onions and I had a fabulous roasted pork - so tender, expertly cooked and seasoned. I had mofongo as my side, also the white rice with beans was very good. We had margaritas, rum punch and mojitos. The rum punch was lit! I should have gotten one to go. But the glasses are pretty small - but it’s only 8 bucks which isn’t bad. The food came quickly despite how busy they were. The salad that comes with the meal is small and no dressing - will need to use oil and vinegar. It can feel noisy but it’s because it’s so small. Feel very family style. Loved it. I don’t think they accept cash payments at all. Also the menu is QR code to a Google Drive which can be a pain to pull up. Attaching it here hopefully helps! I would definitely eat here again. And it is on a tiny street that is hard to navigate for drivers - but we took an uber and it was fine. We did walk to the walking area after which was mostly downhill.

Pirilo Pizza Rustica in Old San Juan is a must-visit spot for pizza enthusiasts. The restaurant offers a wide variety of creative pizza toppings and even features a cuatro leches cake on the menu. What sets this place apart is its second-floor seating area, which exudes a different ambiance with dark wood furnishings, vintage photographs, and high-backed seating.
Was looking for a pizzeria and after seeing there reviews decided to give a a try. Definitely worth the trip, ordered a pizza, lasagna and some Robert Mondavi wine. The pizza was amazing . Being born in New York I know a good pizza when I taste it. The place has a nice rustic look and the waitress was amazing as well. This be my pizza spot for sure.

Looked a little shady from the outside but once you go up the stairs the restaurant has the cutest decor throughout! The staff was very attentive and the food was top tier! I had the fried eggplant with plantains and it was fresh and flavorful! My sister had the lasagna, was a little oily due to the cheese but overall it had good taste. My other sister had a pizza, great flavor. My older sister got the breaded chicken breast, it had good flavors but it was a little chewy in some parts. Would come back, enjoyed the experience and food.

Don’t be put off by the dingy staircase entrance — it’s not the most inviting first impression, but once you reach the top, you’ll find a charming little pizza restaurant that’s definitely worth the climb. We had about a 30-minute wait for a table. The staff mentioned they’d call us when our table was ready, but we ended up checking back in after a short walk and were seated upstairs. The service was friendly and efficient, and the food came out in good time. We started with the arugula salad with balsamic dressing — fresh, well-balanced, and delicious. For mains, we ordered the chicken lasagna and a 16-inch pizza. The lasagna was delicious! Super cheesy! The great thing about their pizzas is that you can do half-and-half, so we went with pepperoni on one side and margherita on the other. My husband loved how cheesy the pizza was. I personally thought it could’ve used a touch more salt, but the flavors were still solid. Overall, it’s a great little spot for a casual date night — cozy atmosphere, good service, and tasty food. Don’t judge this one by the entrance!

I have eaten at Pirilo but at the Dorado location and this Pirilo was a bit disappointing since the pizza was very thin like a sheet of paper both my pizza and my daughters, if I were to visit again it would only be in the Dorado location. Sad I like to help the local businesses but you know what you are serving before it get to the table. This is the only positive I took. the restaurant has a very nice setup

Don’t be shocked by the entrance. At first we were not impressed by the service. We waited quite a bit to even place a drink order. When we finally did, and had been waiting our waiter came back and asked what we ordered for drinks? I was like this is bad, so that order never got placed. Another 20 minutes, finally order calamares and our pizza La Pampa 10”. The couple next to us, was leaving and asked what was taking our food so long and stated he would send over his favorite go to person there. That’s when the evening got so much better. Carlos was our savior and was so kind/polite. He took care of us and didn’t disappoint. Thank you Carlos for taking such good care of us. The carrot cake was excellent. We will definitely be back and ask for Carlos.

Definitely top notch pizza! We arrived to find a line of ten people deep outside the door of the restaurant. It took about 30 minutes to get seated once we got our name on the list. Staff were friendly and service was fast. Their prices were average for the area. We got two pizzas and each was packed full of flavor. Overall it was worth the wait as the all the food was delicious!

I heard really great things about this pizza place so I decided to try it out while in Old San Juan. Here’s my thoughts. The pizza itself (while took some time however it was a busy Sunday night so that’s expected) was amazing. One of the best I’ve had so far while living on the island. We got the mushroom pizza and while it’s not my favorite, I loved it. I would absolutely get it again. The service was a little lacking. Our server got us drinks and then stopped back after we were all done and wanted the check. I would have to say it’s a close 5 stars however the service would have checked all the boxes.

We haven't been here in years and still popular today than it was years ago. We couldn't get our desired reservation but we got lucky a couple of days later and the food is still great. This house setting is more open than before so there are different areas to sit on different levels. The food delicious as always and the customer service is personal and the staff is attentive. I will continue to return whenever I visit San Juan Puerto Rico 🇵🇷.

We visited Casita Miramar while in San Juan to celebrate our 1-year anniversary. While the restaurant came highly recommended, our experience unfortunately did not live up to expectations. To start, we were given complimentary starter soup and bacalao fritters both were actually quite good and gave us hope for the rest of the meal. However, we ended up waiting well over an hour, about 1 hour and 30 minutes, for our main courses. During that time, our server, Jeffrey, noticed our visible frustration and said he would “go investigate” what was taking so long. Despite that, the delay continued, and by the time the food finally arrived, we had completely lost our appetite. We didn’t even touch our meals. It was clear we were upset, but no apology was ever offered. Jeffrey asked if we wanted the food packed to go (we declined), and that was it no effort to acknowledge the inconvenience, and nothing was taken off the bill. To make matters worse, a large party of 13 or more people was seated next to us while we waited, and it genuinely felt like the staff’s focus was almost entirely on them. We understand large groups can take attention, but being completely overlooked, especially while celebrating something meaningful, felt dismissive and frustrating. It’s unfortunate, because the place has charm and the starters were promising, but the lack of communication, care, and hospitality during our visit really soured the evening.

The restaurant was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was beautiful. The lighting was perfect for an evening meal. The food was incredible. So delicious. We each ordered different items and we loved every dish. The portion sizes were large. The staff was so very nice. They even gave us a birthday dessert of tres leche cake. The service and food for an absolutely perfect night. It’s very affordable. It’s a must go too!!!

Both the food and drinks were amazing. I ordered Churrasco and it was cooked to perfection!! The soup they bring out before the meal was so flavorful I was thinking about that soup all week. One of the best I've been too so far. The servers were very attentive making sure our drinks were never empty. The area is a little difficult with parking but I did get lucky with street parking. The place itself is not that fancy but it's definitely one of my favorites!

1000000/10. This dinner was immaculate. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is very classy-chic. The menu items were authentic Puerto Rican cuisines, the sangrias were tasty, and a special shoutout to our hostess Alyah. She was so sweet and gave the best recommendations!!

First let’s start with who attended to us, Gabriel. He was absolutely awesome, friendly and very attentive to us. He made sure we felt like home. The food was amazing with awesome flavors. My daughter had mofongo with shrimp and I had mofongo with skirt steak absolutely awesome. We also had Alcapurrias de corned beef and mamposteao which were all great. The drink was one of the best we have ever had, “El Conflicto” the mixture of piña colada with ginger tea and cinnamon was absolutely delicious. The dessert of “coquito tres leche” was the best dessert we have ever had absolutely delicious and you can taste the coconut. There isn’t enough stars to give Casita Miramar. Thank you for everything.

Amazing food, wonderful service & the space is beautiful! The wait staff was so kind and answered a lot of the questions we had. We started with the plantain and pumpkin soup and bacalitos and that within its self was delicious. Simple but so flavorful at the same time. All of us got a different item to share and the food did not disappoint. We ended dinner with a tres leches cake and a shot of their special rum. I’m not a big fan of tres leches but that was delightful.

Café Cuatro Sombras is a trendy coffee shop located in the heart of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. It stands out for offering locally grown and roasted coffee beans, providing a strong yet not bitter flavor. The café is the face of the owner's family coffee plantation, Hacienda Santa Clara, which was established in 1846 in the mountains of Yauco.
My husband and I LOVED this place, we went back twice on the same day. Great quality coffee using the local beans. The hot coffee taste better than iced. It’s so creamy and rich. Great flavor and fantastic atmosphere. The colors of the pillows match the chairs. We can tell that they actually care about the business, it’s not a sloppy cheap decor. The back garden area is also beautiful!!

Went in for breakfast around 10am on a Friday. It wasn’t crowded and we were able to get a seat quickly. Their baked goods looked lovely and we grabbed the Mala Resa (could be a different spelling). It was a sandwich cake with guava jam in between, not too sweet. From their menu, we had the avocado toast. For $10, I would expect a larger toast or two of the smaller toasts so this was a little overpriced. The other one was croissant with ham, cheese and guava butter. For $10 or something around that, it was filling and I loved it. But nothing beats their iced latte. We had no sugar and it tasted the best. Definitely a must try! The only drawback was that service was a little slow for a time when it wasn’t too crowded.

It has a calm atmosphere, very nice to go with friends, solo or with couple. It gets busy, so definitely consider that. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I ordered the croissant with ham & cheese, with guava, it was awesome, also had a quesito.

No Wifi, misleading reviews prior lead me to think they did. But it wasn’t a big deal. This is a nice, quiet dimly lit cafe with many options for food and drink. They have delicious food options, an easy to read menu, friendly staff and comfortable seating area with pillows. I recommend this place! Chai was well made and flavorful. They do have alternative milk options as well!

Cute little coffee house with modern/boho chic decor. The coffee was amazing. I had the double macchiato and it was rich and creamy in flavor. They have indoor seating and a small outdoor garden within the store. The prices are on the higher side but still worth it. A must visit when in Old San Juan.

☕ The coffee is excellent — 10/10! The atmosphere inside the café is nice. However, if you don’t like crowded places, I wouldn’t recommend it. It gets really noisy with people constantly walking around, which kind of ruins the vibe. The food takes a long time to prepare — I waited 30 minutes. So, if you’re thinking of grabbing a quick brunch in 20 minutes and heading out, this isn’t the place. But if you have an hour to spare, it’s actually a pretty good spot.

Mario Pagán Restaurant, located in Condado, is a stylish and refined dining option that offers a unique twist on Caribbean cuisine. Chef Mario Pagán, a renowned figure in Puerto Rican culinary circles, has three restaurants that showcase his expertise in using locally sourced ingredients to create innovative dishes. At Mario Pagán Restaurant, he creatively manipulates traditional Puerto Rican staples into memorable and delicious entrees.
Exceptional! The food went beyond our expectations, me and my husband shared the best meal we ever had. Our server, whose name I am completely blanking on, went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. He was very attentive, our glasses never were empty and he did an amazing job describing the food and specials. His recommendations were also spot on, and we enjoyed everything we had thoroughly. We shared the fried pork cracklings, and the flavor was out of this world. My husband chose the Filet meal, and I the Scallops. Both meals were phenomenal and it wasn’t hard to finish both plates in their entirety. The chocolate soufflé was also a good ending to our meal. Overall, we chose this restaurant as a “nicer” date night spot, as we are celebrating our honeymoon and are so glad we went with Mario Pagan over other suggestions we had received. The experience itself made the entire dinner worthwhile, -to the point we are considering going back before our trip ends.
Arianna S — Google review
We had high expectations, though the menu sounds delicious everything we had was quite bland. The soup and appetizers were cold, the chocolate soufflé everyone raves about was anything, but rich. It was large in portion, but tasteless. The sea bass was cooked well, but had no flavor. The Gouda bites were cold and tasted like Cheetos. The best thing was the free bread. Atmosphere felt rushed and busy. Our server Rafael was great and very warm. He was the best part of the restaurant. Another positive is that the tuna tartar was excellent, but sadly among the dishes, the only good one. I don’t leave bad reviews, but for the price point and the prestige of the place we were led to believe it had, I felt others should know. Additionally QR code menus really took away from the ambiance. For an upscale experience in San Juan, I recommend Marabar 1919.

Nice upscale restaurant in the San Juan area. Staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is bright and nice. The cocktails were made really well. The dishes were all filled with rich flavors, but I found the apps and smaller plates to have more unique flavors than the entree white fish. However everything was still great and highly recommended here for an upscale lunch!

This review is based solely upon my opinion and food restrictions. Let me start by saying our waiter was genuinely concerned she was personable staff were very attentive, respectful, We started with what we thought would be the absolute best Alcapurias we would ever have sadly, we were very disappointed felt like Salt was the only flavor coming through. Unfortunately, I wanted the only thing that they were out of “chicken”. She told me they had an alternative since I had certain dietary restrictions. Recommended sweet potatoes with a very fresh tasting salad, very fresh cheese topped with quinoa and some type of what seemed like corn flakes type of crunchy feeling to it. Half the plate would have sufficed. What started very salty, and crunchy grew into extremely sweetness very undesirable towards the end the smoke on the sweet potatoes was excellent however. My wife had the drink it was very good her lobster tail was so full of meat was excellent. Not a fan of the smoke in the room at all. Btw- I apologize in advance for such a negative review as I do know over salting can really ruin a meal. I only wanted to eat exceptional Alcapurias to finish my San Juan experience. On my way to Aguada before I leave back to NJ I will continue to try hitting up the food carts.

I had high expectations here, unfortunately it was bad. High price and poor quality. We had two appetizers, tuna tartare, which was bland and the Gouda bites, it was ok. My husband had the canelon de cabrito, it tastes cow meat and it came cold. I ordered the filet with gnocchi. I ordered medium, it came medium well, also cold, 5 pieces of gnocchi, and something that come was under the broccoli was extremely sweet and unnecessary in the plate, I could not eat. I ordered the coconut mousse with pomegranate ice cream, it was ok, nothing wow. Because I said that plate took a long time to come and it was cold, they gave us a free dessert, a cheesecake. I really appreciate their gesture and that dessert was the best thing that night.

Nestled in the lively Santurce neighborhood, Cocina al Fondo, which translates to "kitchen in the back," is a captivating culinary gem that pays homage to Puerto Rican traditions and flavors. Embracing a circular system concept, it champions sustainability while showcasing the island's rich history through meticulously crafted dishes. The restaurant supports local agriculture by sourcing ingredients from nearby farmers and fishermen as well as its own garden.
This restaurant is a must-visit, but you need to plan ahead. Securing a reservation is essential, as this spot is highly sought after. The dining experience here is truly exceptional. The service is outstanding, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure a memorable meal. The kitchen, led by a renowned, award-winning chef, delivers on all expectations, elevating local ingredients to the next level. While the prices are a bit higher than other places in the area, the quality and experience make it completely worth it. We found that having multiple rounds of drinks drove up our final bill, but if you stick to food and one or two drinks, you can expect to spend around $70-80 per person. Overall, this restaurant comes with my highest recommendation. It's a fantastic spot for anyone looking for an extraordinary culinary adventure.

We sat outdoors, and the space had a charming, homey feel with lots of natural elements in the decor. While the weather was a bit muggy, the fan helped make it more bearable. It’s a cozy setting overall, ideal for a casual night out 🍽️ Food & Drinks Their menu is presented by ingredients rather than traditional dish names, which adds a unique touch though it does make ordering a bit of a guessing game. I had a dish featuring fish and shrimp in a tomato-based stew. It had depth of flavor, but leaned noticeably salty, and the prawns were unfortunately overcooked and tough in texture. The chiro chicken was a highlight — crispy and well-seasoned, though a touch dry in the center. Portions were generous, and you can tell there’s intentionality behind the food, even if the execution isn’t perfect across the board. 👨‍🍳 Service & Hospitality Service was fine but felt rushed. Our server quickly cleared items and moved things around mid-meal, which made it feel like we were being hurried through the experience. That undercut the otherwise warm vibe we were hoping for. 💡 Unique Selling Point The concept is clearly curated with care — ingredient-driven, locally recommended, and aiming to be a new go-to. However, for the price point and overall experience, it didn’t fully live up to the hype. While it’s a decent spot to try once, it wouldn’t be at the top of my list for a return visit.

Nice wine list. Natalia and her staff will take good care of you. Everyone makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive until you leave. Octopus, lamb ribs, rabbit meat balls, quail…. Everything cooked to perfection and beautifully served. Dessert and coffee are not to be missed. Nice garden area with plenty of space for bigger groups. Overall a great place for dinner. A new favorite for us. Highly recommended.

I usually enjoy bold, salty flavors, coming from an Asian background, I’m not someone who prefers mild seasoning. However, the dishes here were extremely salty, all 3 dishes, to the point where I couldn’t taste the actual flavors of the food. The shrimp wasn’t fresh either. It’s a shame because the place has potential to be really delicious with fresher seafood and better balance in seasoning. If you’re sensitive to salt, definitely ask them to go light.

Not much service 😆 the sandwich and croissant was perfectly seasoned and very fresh. Coffee was strong enough mango smooth was ! Yummy and refreshing! The cat 🐈 was a bonus so cute. Decoration is relaxing!

Nice coffee spot right outside the walkway to Castillo San Felipe del Morro. Great local, medium bodied, coffee, with multiple options for hot and cold drinks. The pastries are delich and brunch is served all day. **EASY TO FIND** the location is inside the building...there should be four entrances, but when we can (Apr 2025) only two entrances on the east and west points of the building.

This coffee shop was a quick and easy stop before visiting the Fort. The food was fresh and delicious. The owner was very nice, stopped by to check on the food and make sure we were happy with the service. It is located inside of the plaza. The map takes you to the outside and you will have to walk around to find the entrance.

Decent coffee. I believe it’s single origin medium roasted in house . Service is okay. Nothing to rave about . The space and atmosphere was cool. Cool little spot in old San Juan . I tried the Irish coffee, the whipped cream was delicious. The iced coffee we had wasn’t anything special. No notes that stood out. Prices are decent. Nothing to rave about.

Went to enjoy a good coffee in the middle of my walk, because the sun doesn't stop a good hot coffee 😆. Limited menu, my friend order a majorca with ham and cheese, it was good!

Nice little coffee roasterie with food options. Lattes were good. They forgot to make mine. Food was actually good. Construction going on outside, so inside was cramped.

It won’t disappoint!coffee was spot on! I’m sure in the coming year the outside seating will improve with all the remodeling. Inside was very nice! A can’t miss if you’re up on this side of island!

Puerto Rican restaurant
Deaverdura is a laid-back restaurant located in Old San Juan, offering traditional Caribbean cuisine in a vibrant setting. The popular eatery is known for its flavorful dishes such as roasted pork with rice and beans, accompanied by cilantro-lime chimichurri sauce. Additionally, patrons can enjoy white-rum-based cocktails mixed with various fruit juices. The casual spot boasts a short menu featuring local favorites like empanadas, tostones, and homemade sausage.
Food was incredible! Best food we had on the island. and we could see the food being made fresh! Service was quick for us because we went between 1-2 PM but I can tell that it is a busy place to try to eat. Limited menu which is good because it means the food is made authentic and better service.
Tiffany C — Google review
Deaverdura is such a gem in Old San Juan! The food is full of authentic Puerto Rican flavor and feels homemade with love. We tried a mix of everything—fried plantains, sausages, and mofongo—and it was all delicious. Portions are generous and perfect for sharing with family or friends. The restaurant itself has a cozy, colorful vibe that makes you feel right at home. Service was friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. It’s the kind of place where you can sit back, enjoy amazing food, and soak in the local culture. Definitely a must-visit if you want a true Puerto Rican meal in a relaxed, fun atmosphere!
Nestor C — Google review
The food was amazing. Everything was spot on full of flavor. It’s a small space so wait times can be brutal especially if you’re having to wait outside in the heat BUT it is totally worth the wait. The sampler platter alone was enough for three people to eat and be full.
Ivonne M — Google review
We got the sample platter! Fed theee of us easily! Loved the plantains rice pork lil sausages, and corn sticks. Ate blood sausage for the first time was OK but not my fav. Love the atmosphere and the food was delicious. The bathrooms were a little wonky one had a sink one didn’t and you had to get paper towels outside.
Jesse P — Google review
This place has great food. We tried the same dishes in other places, and this is the best tasting. We got the Puerto Rican sampler and LOVED IT. It gets busy here so be patient or come back and try another day. Night times are difficult to get in so don’t set yourself up for disappointments if you’re impatient. Not sure why some reviews say it’s not authentic, can’t get more authentic than this, my grandma would make all this. 🤷🏻‍♂️ And it’s like a home cooked meal.
Richard S — Google review
Worth the wait! We went twice, and both times there was a line out the door—and for good reason. The place isn’t fancy, but the atmosphere is lively and full of local charm. The first time, we ordered the sampler and got a taste of everything: pork, rice, morcillas, tostones—it was all delicious. A true local gem we were happy to return to.
Margarita S — Google review
A quick Google search for Puerto Rican food within walking distance from Castillo del Morro lead us to Deaverdura. We also ended up with the sampler as other reviewers suggested. Thought it was good value and most of the items were good. The blood sausage …. It tasted exactly like the Korean version called sundae. The shredded pork, fried plantains/rice, and mini empanadas were good. The rest seemed a bit bland. Pineapple and tamarind juice hit the spot after walking in the humid but quaint cobblestone streets of old San Juan. Servers were nice but didn’t get much attention after the food arrived.
Michael C — Google review
When you arrive there is a sign outside the restaurant telling you to wait for service. This can be anywhere from 10-30 minutes. Servers spend time with customers and provide good service and to do that they manage the amount of people coming in. Be respectful and wait for them to invite you in. The food was incredible. I got a coconut with rum as my drink and my wife got passion fruit juice. We got the chicken with garlic, white rice, and beans as well as the arroz con gandules and pernil. As is customary in Puerto Rico, each of our plates came with salad dressed with olive oil and vinegar. I wish we had more people with us so we could have ordered the appetizer sampler. This was easily one of the best meals we had in Viejo San Juan. This is a local spot where most of the customers were Boricua.

Family restaurant
Acapulco Taquería Mexicana is a casual eatery with an open kitchen where you can watch the preparation of their signature al pastor pork. The restaurant prides itself on serving authentic Mexican cuisine, eschewing Tex-Mex fare in favor of dishes like al pastor and lengua tacos, cochinita sopes, and more. Despite its unassuming location behind a pawn shop, this spot is known for some of the best Mexican food in Puerto Rico.
Wow, everything is very tasty and delicious, from drink to tacos and bowls to desserts. My favorite food was Quesabirria, it’s somehow like a large taco that comes with shredded beef which is perfectly marinated and cooked, it is absolutely one the best food I’ve ever had; it was so delicious that I came back again 2 days later. Staff are really friendly and the environment is pleasant too. I loved everything about this restaurant.
Amir K — Google review
Casual sit down taqueria, friendly team. Open air upstairs seating. The tacos took about 15-20 minutes to come, sort of a longer wait. I really enjoyed the steak taco on the left. Carnitas was very salty but the salsas complemented them well. Corn tortillas were good too.
Abigail O — Google review
The food was simple yet amazing. Each bite was delicious. Every taco ordered was a hit. Drinks were so refreshing and tasty. I truly recomend this little spot with great and quick service. The only hicup is parking, and the fact that it being a small establishment you might have to wait a few to be seated. But if you dondecide to go you will not regret the experience.

Great taco place. Great service . Great coctails. And most important dog friendly! We had a delicious lunch and we will definitely come back. One star down because the churro machine broke, and we weren't able to have desserts.
Stacey M — Google review
My family and I came in to enjoy a nice meal around lunchtime — couldn’t have been better! My family and I are vegetarians, so finding authentic food that meets our restrictions is often difficult. Acapulco Taquería gave us a great meal during our visit. The food was fresh, the service was welcoming, and the atmosphere felt incredibly warm. Our favorite dishes had to be the guacamole, burritos, bowls, quesadillas, and churros. Each item was fresh and very flavorful, definitely recommend for anyone looking for a great meal!
Niharika — Google review
The food in this place is outstanding. It is one of the best places to eat tacos in the area. The Guacamole was very tasty. Margaritas were good but pricey, they didn't even serve it in the traditional margarita glass. The place got 2 floors, the second tends to be more crowded. Service was average, luckily we didn’t see the girl with red hair of the previous bad reviews. Parking on street, credit cards accepted.

Best authentic Puerto Rican food I ever had. Reminded me of my grandma’s cooking. Can’t wait to go back. So delicious.

Absolutely a must go! Traveled to PR for the first time and these are by far the best Alcapurrias I’ve ever had! Crunchy exterior soft inside. I tried the Maria cocktail and it was yummy! My favorite was the chicharron de pollo with tostones (or rice and beans!!!) service was great! We waited about 20-25 mins to be seated but it was worth it.
Vanessa P — Google review
The food was good- very filling for the price! I’m not sure of the rules when it comes to getting a server here, but we sat ourselves and then when we were ready to order we went and got the server. The overall service was pretty quick and they were kind. We got the beef la alcapurria and then a Carne grits pork and a chicken chicharrones plate. The one with chicken had mofongo- it wasn’t my favorite but i found myself eating it still (i liked the texture).
Angela L — Google review
This place is a VIBE!! Best mofongo I’ve ever had!!!! Hands down! The alcapurrias were on point. I had a cocktail too and it was real good. Good music playing in the background. Lots of locals eating here too. The Best sign of a good spot to eat. A total VIBE! Will come again.

One of my favorite and probably the most authentic meal I had on my visit to Puerto Rico. Bustling, loud, crammed and very local was the vibe. I was cool with it because the servers were fast and attentive and the food was incredible. It was a fun experience hitting a less touristy spot. I would absolutely go eat lunch here again.
Arrio R — Google review
I have no complaints about this place. Food quality, portions, and prices were worth the visit alone. The passion fruit mojito and octopus salad are amazing and the alcapurrias are giant! And right next to La Placita. Definitely on the itinerary for our next visit to PR.

You can’t come to Puerto Rico and not eat authentic Puertorican food! The conejo y queso de bola pastelillo is amazing! Any meat with arroz con habichuela is sooo good! They drinks are strong and well made, not basic drinks. Everyone is kind and welcoming!

Asked at the hotel we are staying at for a true PRican restaurant nearby and they recommended this place. I'm so happy we asked! We truly had a wonderful experience. From the start, the gentleman that took our order, Jose, was super friendly and made my sweet gringo husband felt at home!! We ordered chicharrones de pollo and pechuga de pollo as our main dishes. Everything was wonderful and came out pretty quickly (about 4:30pm on a Wed). Enjoyed a couple of local beers as well. Oh, and ordered an alcapurria de corned beef which was also very tasty!! Definitely recommend the place for the great food & service and, for sure we will return before we leave the island.

Café Regina is a contemporary coffee shop in Puerto Rico that offers a unique experience for coffee enthusiasts. The owner, Kali Solack, incorporates the rich flavors of Puerto Rican agriculture into their offerings, such as turmeric tea with fresh pineapple juice and locally made sourdough topped with fresh ricotta and star fruit jam. The café is known for its experimental coffee creations like Coffee with tonic and the popular Dark N Stormy, a cold-brewed coconut syrup and ginger beer concoction.
Charming, stylish, and seriously good coffee! We visited Café Regina in Santurce after a lovely recommendation from a shop owner across the street and we’re so glad we went! The place has a super stylish interior, with thoughtful design and a warm, creative atmosphere. We had two coffees: I went for a large oat milk cappuccino, and my friend tried “The Stormi”, a unique house creation. Both were absolutely delicious smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. If you’re a coffee lover, this place is a must! For food, we ordered the stuffed avocado toast. At $10 per portion, the dish was beautifully presented and tasted amazing — but the serving size could be a bit bigger for the price. Still, quality-wise, it was totally worth it. Since it’s a popular and hip spot, there can be a short wait. But they’ve cleverly designed a side beach-style area where you can relax until a seat in the main space opens up. It’s a casual come-and-go vibe, so the wait time wasn’t too bad at all. We paid $35 total for two high-quality coffee drinks (including a signature mix) and two small dishes. Overall, Café Regina is a beautiful spot to start your day in Santurce highly recommended for coffee and good vibes!
Alessandra S — Google review
They are serious about their coffee at Cafe Regina. I asked for a pour over, and the bean that I asked for they no longer had, so the barista talked me through another option, and I could tell he cared about the coffee. I was delightfully met with a funky medium roast brew that was nuanced in flavor and almost tea like. My husband had a latte that was also wonderful. The place is quite crowded. There was consistently a line and rarely a table for those who wanted their drinks to stay. I can understand why it is so popular, but the small space and the high volume of people doesn’t make this a place where you want to stay awhile and read a book or journal or work. The space is bright and minimal with large windows and light woods and white. It feels like a trendy coffee shop in New York.
Shad B — Google review
This is a very cute cafe with nice lighting and plants. A good open space with delicious coffee and breakfast items. The toast portion is a little on small side, so it might not fill you up. The pricing is comparable to the other trendy cafes in the area, just expect touristy pricing because of the location.
Goretti — Google review
One of my new favorite cafes for a Sunday breakfast! Coffee is good, but the papaya bowl is out of this world!!!! I also love their pumpkin grilled cheese- absolutely amazing. However, it does get very busy, long line and limited seating. So be aware.
Gabriela R — Google review
Cafe Regina is truly one of the coolest coffee experiences in San Juan! With a very hip vibe, the Cafe accurately represents the diversity of the City. It is lively and has a delicious selection of quality artisanal coffees, as well as a great menu. Most importantly, you will never have an iced cashew milk latte quite like this one! They make their own cashew milk and mix it with real maple syrup. That’s truly taking iced lattes to the NEXT LEVEL! ☕️👍🙏
John M — Google review
We were recommended this cafe by someone we met at El Tap. This is a lively place and has a bright atmosphere. The food is great and baristas are amazing. Look at this latte art!
Kimberly E — Google review
Cute place , the cashew creamer house special coffee is delicious, the BLT tasted like peanut butter ( maybe they didn’t clean something between servings). They scream your name when you food is ready but this is a very busy place, you can barely hear them. I’d rather get a text message to know when my food is done. They ask if you want avocado on your BLT, skip it, too messy .Also toast was burnt and I had a random piece of turkey in my sandwich.

Tried the cashew latte and their papaya bowl (out of granola). Paid about $16 including tip. Pretty underwhelming… very cute spot and nice service and employees are nice. Not sure if they had WiFi, but all outlets are covered, so it’s not the best place to try to do work.

Beautiful location near the beach. Indoor and outdoor dinning is aesthetically pleasing. My party and I were a group of four who only ordered one main dish and appetizers. The waiter was lovely but we had to get someone else to help us several times before she reappeared. We got the meatballs and the center was cold. We had to call over the hostess due to our waiter not being available. Thankfully they redid the order and it was nice and hot.The drinks were great so much so that we had to order another round. I’m sorry I couldn’t remember the name, it did have coconut rum in it if that helps. When in PR I will definitely go again.

Food was delicious. It was lovely to sit outside. Super comfortable and far enough away from the sidewalk that you didn't feel like people were standing or walking by you too closely server. Server was delightful. Very attentive. Would definitely recommend.
M P — Google review
I’ve seen the Serafina chain around NYC before and was craving Italian cuisine so I decided to give it a try here in Puerto Rico. First thought the ambience was hip and trendy with graffiti like murals on the walls. Since it was a hot and humid summer night, I decided to sit inside to beat the heat, but unfortunately I could barely feel the AC. For my meal, I ordered the meatball appetizers and the chicken linguine. The portions were pretty generous and I feel like I could have easily shared my pasta, considering we had appetizers as well. The meatballs were pretty standard. It didn’t have as much flavor as I’d hope in the meet itself, so I found myself constantly re-dipping it in the marinara sauce. The chicken linguine, although large in portions, lacked depth in flavor. It was overwhelmingly creamy. I found myself adding a couple rounds of cracked black pepper to try to give it some complexity. This is when I realized that this is the quality/standard I get for dining at an Italian chain restaurant. The service was great and I had no complaints. I’m a thirsty girl and drink a lot of water. Thankfully my waiter was attentive and kept refilling my glass. Overall, my experience at Serafina was OK. I feel like there are definitely better Italian restaurants at this price point. But if you go into it looking for value, then maybe it’s not too bad.

I had such a great experience at Serafina in San Juan! The food was absolutely delicious – fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The cocktails were just as good, and the lively atmosphere made the night even better. The location in Condado is perfect, giving it that trendy yet welcoming vibe. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and I can’t wait to go back!

I stayed at a hotel nearby and each time I walked by it looked like it was a great place to eat and enjoy a beverage. I stopped in after my 4 mile walk at around 930am. I ordered a mimosa and avocado toast and sat outside. The service was great. My waiter was very accommodating. The avocado toast was amazing. The pesto sauce it was made my tastebuds dance. I asked for hot sauce and they did not have any but I was given red crush pepper and pepper. The avocado toast didn’t need it but I requested it just in case. A Must visit if you are in the area. Yummy 😋

The lobster ravioli was amazing here. Lobster not only inside the pasta but huge chunks outside also. The sauce was amazing. Not sure why this place doesn’t have more stars. Our waitress angelica (i think that was her name) was informative and kind. She even let us sample some wines before we bought a bottle.
Sonja H — Google review
Great experience overall despite a hiccup with one of our dishes, which was promptly resolved. Definitely pricey but is in a prime location at an upscale resort. Breakfast restaurant
Kasalta is a beloved bakery and diner located in Ocean Park, known for its diverse offerings beyond just pastries. The establishment has two sides; one serving Spanish-inspired dishes like tapas, paella, and hearty soups, while the other offers Cuban sandwiches, soups, pastries, and desserts. Visitors can also purchase Spanish staples such as olives, Manchego cheese, and Serrano ham.
This is a great spot for both savory foods, like sandwiches, and sweet foods, like pastries! There were two of us, so we were able to split up and wait in both lines at the same time which was useful for saving time. The lines didn’t move very quickly, but it wasn’t too bad of a wait. All of the food, sweet and savory, was delicious! The sandwich on Mallorca bread was unique, and I’m glad we tried it!
Zane M — Google review
This place is a great local spot. They have their operational procedures down. The food is spectacular, and the coffee is great too. I had the Cuban and an Americano. Their pastry case filled with sweets was tempting, too. The place was always filled with people coming and going but it never felt crowded. I would highly recommend coming in for a visit.
Shad B — Google review
This place looked charming, and with such a large menu, we walked in with high expectations. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to the warm hospitality we’d experienced elsewhere on the island. The service felt a bit cold, and the food followed suit. I ordered the Mallorca with bacon and cheese, but it was overly dusted with powdered sugar, and the amount of cheese—about 10 slices—was just overwhelming. I also tried the bread pudding, hoping for a nostalgic taste from my childhood, but it fell flat and lacked the richness I remembered. It’s a beautiful spot with potential, but sadly, our experience didn’t match the promise.
Margarita S — Google review
Recommended this spot by a local and former President Obama came here. The restaurant is divided into two sections, a sandwich line and a bakery line. The Bistec was a bit bland and heavy with the steak imagine it like a Philly cheese steak style meat and shoestring fries stuffed inside. The Cuban sandwich was a bit better because it had sour pickles to help lift up the heaviness of the sandwich. Overall the sandwiches are okay, but nothing to rave about. The desserts were fun to try, the local signature is the guava pastelito which is like a sugar coated hard puff pastry filled with guava jam. They also have cakes, flans, and other baked goods as well as chocolate bon bons if that interested you. Good for a large group setting!
Goretti — Google review
I came here for brunch since it was recommended by staff in the nearby hotel where I was staying. For about $20, I had an omelette, pancakes, quesito, and water. The food was okay. I think it's more popular for pastries and other dessert.
Roland C — Google review
This place is highly overrated. I’ve tried two different pastries and they taste nothing like they should. The palmier (palmera) was thick, dry and dense. Not flaky and light like they are from a French bakery or any good bakery. The tiramisu tasted like pancake syrup. It was also thick dry and dense and I could only eat one bite it was so nasty.

It’s the overpriced for what you get. The tripleta sandwich was mid at best. The quesito was decent. The coffee just okay. The line was LOOOOOONG. The staff was friendly. There is parking, but I walked there.

Caficultura, located in the heart of Old San Juan, is a charming cafe known for its trendy and popular all-day breakfast and brunch menu. The cafe offers a variety of delicious gourmet sandwiches, hearty dishes, and numerous vegetarian options. The building itself is beautifully restored with distressed concrete walls meeting an old Spanish-style wood-beamed ceiling adorned with a magnificent antique chandelier. Visitors can enjoy farm-to-table food and delightful coffee drinks made from beans sourced directly from Puerto Rican farms.
We’ve eaten at probably 15 restaurants in Old San Juan and this is one of the best. The French Mallorca was superb. Good coffee options, delicious juices, and excellent service.

Caficutura in San Juan is a true gem for brunch lovers. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm, charismatic service that immediately sets the tone for a relaxing and authentic Puerto Rican experience. The food was absolutely wonderful, rich in traditional flavors and presented beautifully, making it as much a feast for the eyes as it was for the palate. The attention to detail in both service and presentation shows real pride in their craft. If you’re in San Juan and looking for a vibrant, welcoming brunch spot, Caficultura is a must-visit.

Awesome brunch, deserves better ratings. In my humble opinion, this place should be higher in reviews rankings. Great coffee, spectacular Avocado Salmon toast (Tostada Mañanera), and yummy Angus breakfast sliders. The quail egg was perfect and makes them so juicy, and yes, you can taste the Spanish Chorizo bits in there. Friendly staff, and great location right at the entrance of old San Juan. You won't be disappointed.
Sergio H — Google review
At the entrance to Old San Juan, you will find this gem of a place! I have been a lover of cafés since I was a teen. Caficultura is a remarkable establishment. The coffee was incredible! As far as I know, it is all Espresso based coffee drinks, so if you want basic drip coffee you have to settle for an Americano. It was delicious as well as all the other coffee drinks. They have a small and approchable beverage program that offers thoughtful cocktails, local beer, small curated wine selections and teas. Of course the coffee is the star! The culinary offerings were perfect for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Our family tried the Crouque Madame, the Mallorca French Toast, Quinoa Bowl and the basic breakfast. It requires multiple visits to try all the menu. All the food was delicious. The menu was sophisticated yet very approachable! The service was attentive, warm, welcoming and informative. They answered all questions and requests with helpful responses. I don't recall the name of the person who helped us, but they took care of our table with patience and made our experience enjoyable. The vibe of the space also takes the experience to another level. It is classic Spanish Colonial architecture with the furnishings that felt eruopean, like stone table tops with ornate cast iron bases, and a center chandelier that took me 150 years into the past. Don't let that fool you because even though they give nods to San Juans past and coffee traditions, they are very rooted in the present by the vibe they present! The playlist was great too. An amazing Café experience on the Isla del Encanto!

Calficultura never disappoints! I first visited in 2014 and went back twice this week — the menu has changed, but the food and coffee are still incredible. Excellent service, delicious flavors, and a cozy vibe. I’ll definitely be back every time I’m in Puerto Rico!

Beer hall
Bar & grill
Nestled in the heart of Old San Juan, La Taberna Lúpulo is a charming and laid-back taproom that boasts a wide array of craft beers on tap and in bottles, along with light bites to complement your drinks. The tavern's ambiance is inviting, with its soaring beamed ceilings, large oak doors opening onto the street, and a spacious wooden bar.
Some of the best beer for this popular area. Lots of choices of styles and brewery locations. They had a great selection of liquor, especially the randomly placed rum bottles. Their prices for liquor were all over the place, some bottles should have been higher while others probably lower. Staff were friendly and showed great attentiveness. Overall I was quite happy to find this place as it was a great place to relax and sip on a tasty beverage after walking around.
Coach T — Google review
La Taberna Lupulo is a great taphouse and restaurant in Old Town. They have a full bar, and nearly 50 beers on tap, with options not listed on the website. Roughly 1/2 their beers are local and with this many taps, they cover most styles. Their menu is not huge but what they make is really good. The atmosphere is great, it's big, open, and has the classic spanish old town feel. Service is friendly though the music can be a little loud. This is a spot I would stop at again.

This is a great place to have a taste of the many kinds of artisan beers our island has to give! The service from the bartenders are always great and the bouncers at the entrance are very respectful. This time we had a female bartender and she is a very kind person. She takes the time to explain to you the flavors you might encounter on each beer. Overall, this is a great place to drink local artisan beer oh, and the music is always on point. We just don't like the "reggetón" music of other pubs around the Old San Juan area and this is the only place we can rely on to listen to good music because it is also not too loud for you to speak with your companions, and you can have a wonderful time there. Another note: the bathrooms are always very clean! I highly recommend this place to locals and tourists alike.

Fantastic spot for craft beer right in the heart of old San Juan. Whether you’re fat drinking or being rowdy out late, this pub is a definite must go to. You won’t regret it.

Lady at my hotel sent me here. What an awesome bar.Great draft beers.I got 2 local ones orange and passion fruit. great food.I got the cheese bites and the crunchy chicken wrap and a delicious chicken sandwich. great bartenders. thank you Yamil!

We had some snacks and beer at this place. The drinks were nice, and the beer was actually pretty good. However, the food was disappointing. The fish inside the taco was burnt, yet they still served it — which was quite frustrating. Despite the friendly staff and decent drinks, I wouldn’t recommend this place. The snacks were below average, and overall, it felt like a waste of time.
Tuğçe K — Google review
Absolutely loved this place. Sandra was exceptional, very attentive and friendly. She went above and beyond giving us great recommendations. I only got the chips and salsa but the salsa was amazing!!! Just the right amount of heat and super flavorful. Will definitely be saving this place for the next time I come.
Arcie T — Google review
Interesting and tasty beer/mead/drunk selection. 47 local and imported beers on the menu along with a few other unique options. I really liked how the bartender had a good story about each. Good place to do a bite or a drink. A “spritely” 10-minute hike from the cruise docks.

Tropical Taste Restaurant in Old San Juan is a must-visit for those craving authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. The restaurant offers amazing service and delicious food, with special attention to accommodating dietary restrictions like shellfish allergies. The menu features delectable dishes such as churrasco mofongo, a large sampler, and fried whole red snapper. The atmosphere is simple yet inviting, and the flavors of the food are rich and satisfying.
This is meal was definitely worth it. It was the first thing I ate when I got to Puerto Rico and I was extremely satisfied with it. It definitely eat there again. Based on the reviews, I decided to try a mojito as well and it VERY good as well. The only thing that bothered me was that it was actually so cold in there that I wanted to leave as soon as possible. AC + fans. Maybe it’s necessary in the hotter months ¿? I left the second I finished my food. The server was very attentive and kept the place very clean.

First time in Puerto Rico, my coworker recommended me this place, he was right, this was the best so far on my trip. I ordered the churrasco Mofongo, it was amazing, I’m a huge steak fan and this is the best, I was so hungry that I ate it all, the portion was huge and prices were cheap. I also ordered a Passionfruit Mojito that was delicious. My server was friendly and efficient. Highly recommend this place and hope to come back soon.

First time in Puerto Rico and found this place looking for mofongo. This place is a hidden gem and you owe it to yourself to check it out! The food was amazing and Emmanuel was very helpful and friendly. We got the coffee coquito and it was the best I've ever had!! You could taste the love and effort that went into making it. Highly recommend them and I'll be back someday.

A group favorite restaurant of the entire trip - the Pollo Salsa Criolla was easily my favorite! The service was fantastic, and the environment felt authentic and welcoming! If you are in the Old San Juan area I definitely recommend Tropical Taste!

Hidden gem in Old San Juan! This place has amazing food and a great atmosphere. The service was 10/10 attentive and super friendly. It was the first thing I had after arriving in PR and I will be back! Thank you. 😀❤️

Went here after we docked at Old San Juan because we were looking for good local Mofongo. I was not expecting to find the holy grail of drinks. Emmanuel was our server and the maker of the Coffee Coquito on this particular day. It was by far the best Coquito I've ever had. My Madrina es Puerto Rican and that Coquito is way better than hers and any other of my family friends. If I can convince you to come here and get one single thing on the menu it would be that drink. Emmanuel was awesome and attentive, and I would buy more drinks when I come back

Tiny, off the beaten path restaurants are the best and this is no exception. Beautiful decor and staff. Drinks are not too strong. Absolutely best place to be.

Food is good. The service is good but it’s slow. 1 person handling the floor and 1 in the kitchen do not expect to eat together and order 2 to 3 rounds of drinks the first time you get the guys attention. Cause it will be a while before he comes back to check on you.

Carli's Fine Bistro & Piano, owned by Carli Munoz, a former member of the Beach Boys and a piano player for Wilson Pickett, offers an exquisite dining experience accompanied by world-class musical performances. The bistro features nightly performances ranging from jazz to bossa nova and samba, as well as collaborations with guest musicians.
Legendary experience! This is a 1/1 unique, amazing culinary art experience! The food was unbelievable and actually has taken the top spot for two of my favorite all time dishes…tuna tartare and lobster ravioli. All food was outstanding and drinks were on point. Did I mention CARLI? This man is a music icon and played the piano for us. Basically a gourmet dining experience with unique twists AND an intimate show from a musician who, amongst other accomplishments, was a long time collaborator with The Beach Boys. Carli talked with us for a while afterwards, just such a cool and unique experience you cannot get anywhere else. 11/10, A+++ don’t think it over just go and see Carli

There was live piano player which created a beautiful and enchanting atmosphere. Mary provided excellent service! The shrimp and lobster ravioli is recommended with the addition of jumping shrimp. We had a small infant and they were quite accommodating. I believe my little one enjoyed this enchanting experience.

I would recommend this place to anyone visiting San Juan, very intimate and romantic for couples or even friends! The food is amazing, we got the tuna tartare as an appetizer and it was delicious. The drinks are top notch, and the owner is very kind and plays the piano beautifully! Very cool to learn he played with The Beach Boys back then!

Good and not good experience at the restaurant. The live music was great, the interior design is amazing. Customer service is good too. The pasta I had wasn’t great. Just simple store bought pasta with homemade sauce, not impressed , especially for the price I paid.

We had a great time at Carli’s! Even with the water shortage, the food was delicious. Mari was on point and very helpful, fantastic waitress. Surprise guests played the piano and sang. Carli played some good tunes as well! Will definitely come back when we visit again.

Great host, amazing food, and an excellent atmosphere all around. The bartender, Angel, was outstanding, friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. One of the best meals and restaurant experiences of my life. Not only the food, but the service. Our server, Nisyha, was so knowledgeable and passionate about the dishes and our experience it made our dinner all the more enjoyable. Edwin is an incredible mixologist and I highly recommend Espiritu Libra. There is food and then there are dishes created with so much passion and love that the flavors transcend. El Mercado y su Pulpo was an explosion of flavors so perfectly balanced I will be thinking about it for days to come. Post Casa Moreyra was one of the best ceviches I’ve had. The wasabi leche de tigre was so smooth and creamy with just enough spice to enhance the dish. The matcha cheesecake with black sesame and sesame ice cream made me cry. Go hungry, try new dishes, expect to have the time of your life. Gracias por la mejor comida de mi vida!

I dined solo at Sur Barraní Nikkei PR, and it was absolutely phenomenal. The food was outstanding — their ceviche is to die for. I sat at the bar and didn’t have a cocktail, but the bartender was incredibly nice and clearly a true craftsman. Watching him make things like vermouth-flavored marshmallows from scratch was so impressive! You can tell everything here is made with care and creativity. JungleBird is a cozy tiki bar located on the edge of La Placita in San Juan, known for its Taino-tropical drinks and imaginative bar food. The bartenders at Jungle Bird put a modern twist on the classic Pina Colada by combining tepache with Don Q Oro and coconut cream to create the Tepache Colada.
“This part of the city has a vibe all its own—think Jungle Bird meets a touch of NYC energy. It’s fun, exciting, and full of life without feeling overwhelming. The eats are amazing, the music sets the perfect mood, and the area has just the right amount of buzz. It’s a busy spot but never overcrowded, making it ideal for visitors looking for a great night out. Plus, with its cool atmosphere and unique style, it’s a fantastic place to grab some Insta-worthy pictures while you’re at it!”

JungleBird is located in a lively neighborhood with plenty of bars and music. I loved the cool aesthetic, and the vibe was great—everyone there seemed really happy. We only had drinks, but the food looked delicious and definitely worth trying next time.

Their mix drinks were average. It was hard to come here after Kane Rum bar which really put the standard high. Their prices were on par for the area just not the quality compared to Kane. We sampled some appetizers, but overall nothing was worth mentioning. Staff were friendly and service was fast, but the place was empty. Overall I really wanted to like this place it was just a let down.

I’m soooo happy I found this cocktail bar. I tried a couple drinks and all of them were fantastic. The best part were the prices. $10-$14 for a drink that’s made with love and care? Go next door and pay $9 for a rum and coke.
Brandon S — Google review
Interesting place. The good: The drinks and service were great. The food was good as well. The other side: This places smell really weird. The music is quite loud and the tables and menus need updating. Would I go back? Probably, yes, the drinks were that good.
Steven D — Google review
I cannot speak highly enough about Junglebird and the lovely bartenders. My husband and I showed up like a couple of nerds at 5:01 to be sure we could get seats at the bar. We got super VIP treatment by Robertson and Ed.. they schooled us on PR tiki history and served the most amazing drinks.. my favorite of all time the green swizzle that I’ve since been obsessed with recreating. The food was also bomb. This review is a bit late. Went in December 2024. Can’t wait to return this December!

I don’t say this lightly when I say, they have the best tuna tartare on the island. I’ve been visiting PR monthly for the past year and I’ve had a lot of opportunities to try different restaurants’ version on it, and JungleBird found the secret sauce! The drinks are good, i love the atmosphere and the service has always been acceptable…but I’m just here to tell you all to go try the tartare and report back!

Homey lil bistro with great bites, good service, and well made drinks. Mussels were the star of the orders we made, but the baked goat cheese was a close second. Orujo is the beautiful life project of Chef Carlos Portela, a place to relax and just go with the flow. The food is well thought out and delicious. The wines are amazing as well. One of my fav places on the island. You can taste the love and hard work. Gracias Familia!
Chef G — Google review
A Masterclass in Modern Puerto Rican Cuisine I had the honor of staging at Orujo while visiting San Juan, and the experience was nothing short of transformative. As a working chef, I’ve seen my share of kitchens — but what Chef Carlos Portela and his team have built at Orujo is on another level. Focused, precise, and deeply rooted in Puerto Rican identity with a modern, progressive lens. Technique is respected. Ingredients are allowed to speak. Chef Carlos needs no introduction — he might not even be from this planet. There’s a kind of interstellar clarity to the way he moves, teaches, and creates. Chef Tony brings the heartbeat of high-volume mastery to the team. Whether it’s a 25-course tasting or 200 covers across four seatings, his timing and command never waver. Tony is a philosopher in the kitchen — his calm presence, thoughtful observation, and sense of balance make him someone I’d follow without hesitation. It was an honor to work beside him. Chef Sebastian, both a culinary student and a fisherman, carries himself with a level of intent that’s rare even in seasoned kitchens. Every move he makes shows purpose, curiosity, and respect for the craft. Watching him work gives me genuine hope for the next generation of chefs — focused, grounded, and already thinking beyond the plate. Chef Danny, an Army brat of Puerto Rican descent born in Germany, brings a unique global lens to the kitchen. Equal parts culinary scientist and sommelier, he moves seamlessly between technique, theory, and terroir. His generosity and curiosity made the kitchen feel instantly welcoming. A sharp mind and loving spirit. Chef Karen is, without question, the kind of chef every kitchen needs and few are lucky enough to have. Holding down garde manger with absolute precision, plating with an artist’s restraint, and quietly commanding the room with her presence alone — she’s as sharp as she is grounded. With a master’s in Human Resources and the soul of a pastry chef, there’s quite literally nothing she can’t do. Her desserts? Worth flying to Puerto Rico for — full stop. Her balance of flavor and form is otherworldly. She carries grace like a blade — quietly, beautifully, and without apology. Bien ah provecho, my friends. Until next time. Carlos J Executive Chef Stagiaire, June 2025
Carlos J — Google review
This is a must if you are a true foodie. A comprehensive tasting menu taking you through a journey of PR’s taste and local ingredients without seeming pedestrian. Chef Portela mixes sweet and savory in a balanced way all while adding depth and complexity to his dishes. It is no wonder chef is James Beard finalist and only a matter of time until the honor is bestowed.
Frank R — Google review
Orujo, offers an unique sensorial journey that is meant for everyone to enjoy. Chef Portela’s rotating, seasonally-inspired plates—from the most simple to the most complex dish—encourage wellbeing: of our bodies, minds, and soul. Nature, art, the lyrical essence of our island, the aromas, and our colorful, intense Caribbean heritage are all imbued into every element of our cuisine. We proffer an escape through a festive, gastronomic journey that reinterprets Puerto Rican cuisine through a bold new narrative of fortitude, tenacity, and, of course, taste.
Jsilvestry21 — Google review
I visited by myself for a treat on a solo trip, and it was a highlight on an overall fantastic vacation. Every moment of this meal was incredible. The atmosphere feels like your coolest friend's living room, making wait time for dishes more like a chill invitation to explore the space, chat with other diners, read a book from the staff's personal library, etc. The food/wine and dining experience was unforgettable – certainly one of the top in my life. This team is so talented. The service was exceptional. The staff were beyond welcoming, and I loved the spontaneous conversations that happened with other guests. I also learned so much about the locally-sourced ingredients. Carve out 4-5 hours for a meal here, and dream about it for the rest of forever. Am I being hyperbolic? No.
Ali M — Google review
One of the most incredible dining experiences I have ever had. The entire menu is 23 courses so do plan ahead that dinner might last the entire evening. However, every dish that came out of the kitchen was absolutely delicious and was also so thoughtful. There are no servers at the restaurant. Instead, the chefs and sous chefs themselves bring you the food which makes for a much more intimate dining experience. Although the menu itself has the quality of a three Michelin star restaurant, the surroundings feel more humble and cozy. The kitchen is small and diners are invited to visit and chat with the chefs throughout the meal. Would give this six stars if I could.
Emily M — Google review
This was such a fun dining experience! The space is small and intimate, and you get to chat with the chefs as they bring out each course. It’s fine dining but with a relaxed atmosphere. It’s like hanging out at a friend’s place who happens to be an amazing chef and wants you to try all their latest dishes. The menu is always changing so we will definitely be back next time we are in San Juan!

Restaurante Raíces is a lively and popular restaurant known for its themed country venue and traditional Puerto Rican dishes. The waitresses wear all-white campesina dresses, adding to the rustic charm of the place. Despite feeling somewhat Disneyfied, both locals and tourists flock here, sometimes waiting over an hour for a table. The giant deep-fried kan kan pork chop and mofongo with churrasco are among the signature dishes that attract visitors.
This was by far the best place we ate during our trip! The food was absolutely delicious. I had the seafood dish — it was amazing and very generous in portion, definitely something I highly recommend. It was more than enough for one person. My husband chose a traditional meat dish; while it was tasty, the portion was a bit small and he didn’t feel completely full. After our meal, we tried the flan for dessert — honestly, it was the best flan I’ve ever had. A must-try! The staff were very friendly and helpful. We did have to wait a while for the food to arrive, and we wish the service had been a bit faster. But aside from that, everything was wonderful.

We stopped in during our recent cruise aboard the Carnival Celebration. It was highly recommended so we had to try it out. Unfortunately, I guess everyone on the ship decided to do the same, as they got slammed, slowing down service drastically. They opened at 11am, sitting by 1105a and done by 135p, not quite how I wanted to spend my afternoon in Puerto Rico but the food was delicious and our waiter was awesome. He continued to check on us constantly, bringing us drinks and informing us of the delays. Overall great spot if no cruise ships in port.

As I'm walking down Calle Recinto Sur in Viejo San Juan, I had plenty of restaurants to choose from for dinner. But one restaurant caught my attention because of the staff that was outside of the door. From the moment I walked in, the servers were incredibly warm and hospitable, dressed in beautiful traditional Puerto Rican attire that added a sense of pride and authenticity to the atmosphere. The music? Absolutely phenomenal!!!! Playing Salsa from an older era was like stepping into a time capsule of Puerto Rican soul. The variety of paintings on the wall also added to the ambiance. For dinner, I ordered Jugo de Piña and the Churrasco with Mofongo. The portion was perfect, not too much and not too little. The pineapple juice even had a piece of fresh cut pineapple with it. There are a lot of restaurants to choose from, but Raíces is a solid choice.

I will say, we came here two years ago and didn’t think we’d ever try this place out again, tonight though- we were in disbelief how quickly our food came out & how delicious everything tasted. Staff was friendly/ welcoming, it was clean & a bit chilly. We were here 2 years ago, it was very hot & after waiting a super long time without being helped, we ended up leaving. So this was night and day difference! We will definitely be back!

Four stars all around for this famous restaurant located in Old San Juan dining district. Fish Tacos were very filing. Bottled water is offered instead of tap water. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the waitresses who wore those white outfits. Very classy.
Christopher L — Google review
None of the dishes were very good. Fish was overcooked, octopus was tasteless and hard. Crab dish was ok but very little filling for the shell thickness. Best one was the sausage and that’s more related to quality of ingredients than the cooking. Not a place to come back or recommend.

Oh my goodness!!! The treats here are amazing. We stopped in to kill some time before a tattoo appointment in the area. The sponge cake on a stick - so good. This is where I discovered Quesito’s - freshly made - warm, and so good! I inquired about some strangle little round bread things in a bag at the counter, and the cashier explained it was homemade right there for salads - similar to croutons - but fresh! He gave us some to try. We ended buying a bag to bring home. This little place is worth it. Side note: bathroom was unavailable while we were here.

This spot is a tourist trap. Food here was just alright, not worth a second visit. The sausage was lukewarm like it was cooked the previous day. The Empanadillitas with ground beef were pretty hard. Chicken mofongo and chuleta kan kan were also just okay. The best items ordered were the drinks!

I’m visiting Puerto Rico for a few days, and this was the first place we stopped for breakfast — it did not disappoint. The food was delicious with a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options to choose from. The service was fast and friendly. I’d definitely recommend it to fellow travelers, especially those who speak English.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ PANNES is a must-visit in San Juan! Breakfast was delicious and generous, and the salmon dinner later that evening was absolutely perfect — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The cocktails were excellent, and the service was friendly and attentive. Great vibe, great food, and a place I’ll definitely return to!

My wife and I both loved the food we had. She also loved her coffee and I loved my screwdrivers. They were definitely poured with love. Shoutout to Angie with the amazing service. Far better quality and prices versus what we had available at our hotel. Would definitely recommend

It’s about 3.5 stars. It’s average food and a bit over priced but the lunch specials aren’t too bad. The beef/stake we got was WAY too salty. But the rice was cooked well- soft and fluffy. Beans were good, and tostones were great. They weren’t hard like some places, didn’t taste old or they’ve been under the heat lamp. No repeat, but it was fine.

Pinky's Calle Loíza is a casual diner-style eatery located in the Condado area of San Juan, offering primarily breakfast and lunch options. It's a great spot to visit after enjoying the nearby beautiful beaches, scenic cycling routes, or exploring the Old San Juan district. The menu features healthy burritos, wraps, and excellent smoothies. Visitors can expect generous portions of fresh dishes at affordable prices. The diner provides a welcoming atmosphere with attentive customer service.
Stopped by for brunch and had a great experience! The place is super cute but small, with limited seating, so I’d recommend getting there early. That said, service is quick—we only waited about 10 minutes. The menu has a wide variety of options, and everything we tried was delicious. The smoothies are huge and totally worth it. And the hot sauce? Easily my favorite on the island. Definitely a 10/10!

Solid sandwich spot! So many options to choose from and service was quick. I love that they leave the blender when you order a smoothie. Definitely worth a visit. I ordered the Surfer Sandwich and Vitamin C Boost Smoothie. Everything was delicious and fresh. Can't wait to come back on my next trip to Puerto Rico!

I have to say this is one of my favorite places in Puerto Rico. I could try something different every day and be living a dream. the service is professional. The high quality flavors is the standard. you’re pretty lucky person if you live close enough to eat here multiple times a week.

10/10 recommend! Short walk from the beach, very quick service and nice portions. I love how the smoothie comes in a blender and the Pinky’s Sandwich was so satisfying 😋 it’s a small spot and I was lucky to snag a table inside where there’s AC but there’s also some seating outdoors.

OMG this place is awesome!! You get huge portion of food for a cheap price. I’ve been searching for good authentic food and this place is it. The staff was friendly and attentive. The place is small but is filled with lots of love. The lady even saw that i was a bit uncomfortable sitting next to some guys and offer to move me. They are so sweet. Pleas give this place a try and show them some love ❤️

Friendly staff. Waited about 30 minutes to get seated for a table of 3. It’s a Small space. When we went water pressure was low so they couldn’t do shakes or use PB since they couldn’t clean it effectively which was fine with us. Food was delicious.

If you find yourself lucky enough to be in San Juan, particularly Ocean Park, Calle Loiza and you want a great cup of local coffee and the most delicious food, you MUST stop in at Pinky’s. I visit PR multiple times a year to visit family and vacation and it’s a must have as soon as I land. The employees also add to the charm, they are all kind welcoming speak both English and Spanish and will make sure you are well taken care of while you are enjoying your meal and delicious coffee or smoothie. I’ve been coming here for many many years now and I promise you will not be disappointed. Buen Provecho!

Café Manolín Old San Juan is a beloved local spot that serves up traditional Creole-style cuisine in a cozy and welcoming setting. This 1950s diner is a popular choice for breakfast and lunch, attracting both locals and tourists with its simple yet delicious dishes. After enjoying a meal at Café Manolín, visitors can explore the charming streets of Old San Juan, stopping by nearby shops like Pure Soul Boutique for unique clothing and housewares.
Absolutely in love with this quaint, cozy spot. The staff was incredible. The food was absolutely delicious and hit all the right notes. The mofongo was moist, the meat was juicy and so flavorful. Great portions and great prices. The drinks were also delicious and so well balanced. I will say it's suuuuper busy. I got lucky with seats at the bar but it was still elbow to elbow. Didn't take away from the experience but worth noting. Go here! 5🌟

Café Manolín is a gem in Old San Juan! Super chill spot with classic Puerto Rican food that hits the spot. They serve up authentic island comfort food with fast service and generous portions. Don’t leave without drinks & dessert too; coffee with brown sugar, “china”(fresh orange juice), flan & a shot of local Rum made this a great way to kick off our adventure in PR.

Our food was out of this world and the wine pairing elevated our experience to the next level. The service was exceptional, thank you Anna! This was a special treat but way worth the cost.

We were on the hunt for affordable Puerto Rican food in Old San Juan—and we found a hidden gem! This place is absolutely amazing. There’s no big sign out front, and while GPS said it was on the right, it’s actually on the left. Just look for a purple building with a small sign—that’s your spot. The vibe inside is warm and cozy, like a mix between a café and a diner. The prices are super reasonable, and the menu has a great variety of Puerto Rican favorites. We ordered the 10 oz churrasco and wow—it was cooked to perfection. I’d read that this spot has the best churrasco on the island, and I have to agree. If you’re in Old San Juan and craving authentic, affordable Puerto Rican food, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

We sat at the counter which was tight. The waitress didn’t tell me switching rice and beans for mofongo was up priced. The mofongo dry and hard. The waitress forgot to upgrade my husband’s rice and beans which was a good thing because the rice and beans were better. His king fish and plantains were good.

Manolín Café was the perfect taste of San Juan during our cruise stop. The place was buzzing with locals, the line moved quickly, and the energy felt authentic. I had the mofongo with fried pork—crispy, garlicky, and packed with flavor. It was exactly the kind of local experience you hope to find between ports.

Wifey and I had a late lunch at this location. It was highly recommended and we absolutely loved it. We were on a cruise celebrating 10 years of marriage, and we very much wanted something local and authentic. Restaurant
Cafetería Mallorca is a charming throwback to the 1950s, offering a cozy diner-style experience in San Juan. This spot is renowned for its signature dish, the Mallorca - a sweet and fluffy buttery egg bread sprinkled with powdered sugar. The café opens at 7:00 a.m., welcoming locals and visitors alike to savor this traditional Puerto Rican delight.
The place has a very casual and laid-back vibe. There’s nothing particularly unique about the atmosphere, and most of the staff are middle-aged, which gives it a homey feel. If you're looking to try a local breakfast in San Juan, this was definitely the best spot for us. I'll share photos of the menu below to give you an idea. We tried the mollarco, and it was very tasty. I had the plain one, and it was perfect with coffee — highly recommended! My husband had the cheese-filled version, which was also good, but we both preferred the plain one. Overall, it’s a nice spot for a simple and authentic local breakfast. Definitely worth a visit!

WOW! All I have to say. This place was all over my page online so I decided to give it a try. Everything was so fresh I was blown away. The bread was to die for highly recommend. One last thing to add our server was great.
Dave’s C — Google review
Don’t even have the words to describe this place. I have been thinking about my Mallorca with eggs and swiss ever since I walked out the door after paying. I immediately searched where I can get mallorcas in the city I live in once I’m back. Our waiter was the best part of this restaurant he was so edgy and hilarious but still kind and tended to our needs before we even asked. The pastries were incredible, the drinks were great, and the vibe was 10/10. It’s such a shame there are no local PR restaurants like this in my city, I’m craving my order again 😭
Nina H — Google review
Loved it, service is a little slower but it seems like an very older gentleman takes orders & serves the food by himself. Seating is limited and my advice is if you see an open table go ahead and seat yourself, even if the table is not cleaned, the older gentleman will clean it. It seems like he knows who has recently sat down. The food was delicious, my wife & I each got a ham, egg, & cheese mallorca and we both loved them. I also had French fries which were very fresh & hot (so hot I had to wait a little bit for them to cool down). My wife got a papaya shake which she couldn't stop telling me about how good it was and kept offering me some. I recommend this place but get there early because again Seating is limited. The price was very generous, for 2 ham, egg, & cheese mallorca, French fries, a papaya shake, a 12 oz sprite, 2 16 oz dasani bottle water and tax came to a little over $20 . The decor needs some work but the food is so delicious you barely notice, this is a very mom & pop establishment. If you're in Old San Juan or San Juan or heck in Puerto Rico I definitely suggest you go here.
Matbleek — Google review
Mallorca ham, egg, cheese was very tasty. The pork with rice and beans was a good value at 13.95. The service was slow but it is island time, take your time and enjoy. Practice your Spanish before coming, our waiter and person checking us out only spoke Spanish.
Sarah L — Google review
If you're looking to visit Cafeteria Mallorca, the key is to get their early. Seating is limited, and it can be tough to find a place. That said, it is worth planning and making it work. We arrived at around 8:30 AM and got one of few tables left for our family of four. A cruise ship had arrived that day and we watched a pretty steady stream of cruisers wander in from that point forward. Because of the busyness, service was a bit slow. Not really the fault of any of the servers, just the nature of place. But when the food arrived, there was little "happy dances" around our table as everyone tasted what we ordered. We kept it pretty basic by ordering two different sandwiches: Mallorca w/ ham and cheese & Mallorca w/bacon and cheese. They weren't much to look at, but they were some of the tastiest little things. So tasty, in fact, we attempted to remake them in our AirBnB for the next two mornings. An important thing to note - if you're looking for a place to hide from the heat, this won't be the place. Food was great, but it was a bit stuffy sitting there. You acclimate and it doesn't detract from the food, but it isn't the cold blast that you find in other places.
Adam F — Google review
Great food, quick service, fair price! Loved the Mallorca and fresh squeezed orange juice. Coffee was delicious and strong (made in a very cool old machine). Would love to go back for pastries! Get there early if you don’t want to wait
Abby W — Google review
This place was not worth the wait at all!! Definitely over hyped from tik tok. Staff was nice but this place was so cringe it looked almost abandoned inside. I’m scared to know what the kitchen looked like if the front was that falling apart. Food was ok and cheap and hope they remodel from all the extra customers.

The whole fried snapper comes highly recommended. Their sampler plate, featuring fritters, dumplings, and fried cheese, is a great way to start your meal.
This little gem was a great find—nothing fancy, just a small, local spot tucked away behind other establishments. It may be easy to miss, but it’s definitely worth seeking out. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the pork chops and chicken breast with rice and beans—simple, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. A true hidden treasure!

This place was phenomenal! The food was exceptional—a surprise, because I’m expecting food in touristy places to be just “good enough”. My picky 10 yr old and my adventurous 13 yr old both ate their entire meals and my husband and I indulged in the freshness and delightful taste of our meals. With a visit when in Old San Juan! ❤️🇵🇷 PS. Great for gluten-restricted folks! We all have the allergy and did great—plenty of alternatives.

If you are in Old San Juan, Cafe El Punto is a must visit. We were a party of 12 and they easily accommodated us. Our waitress Nahir was absolutely amazing. Ate, drank, shopped, everything was perfect Local authentic art throughout the building, especially up front by the street and upstairs. All for sale. They ship anywhere! Just ask! My vejigante mask arrived safely and was perfectly packed - even though the shipping fee was high at the store I feel like they lost some money between the post office and packing materials. Food was taaaan deliciosa we ordered pretty much all the appetizers plus mofongo and stuffed plantains. Piping hot, great flavor, service was attentive and drinks delicious. Highly recommend.

I understand why this restaurant is so highly rated! We came as a group of 4 without a reservation on a Sunday and it was packed! Fortunately, we did not have to wait very long and the host was able to accommodate us. Please please try the guava cream cheese French toast! It was the best French I’ve ever had! Well balanced, dense in flavor but light and sweet in taste. I also had the mimosa with tequila and watermelon juice and I only needed one! We had a great experience at Bistro Café! First thing to know: the portions are HUGE, so definitely plan to share or come very hungry. We ordered: • A waffle with Nutella, chocolate, and fresh fruits • A croque madame • A chicken sandwich with fries We also got two fresh juices and a coffee. Everything was delicious—the food was flavorful, and the presentation was beautiful. The service was really nice, and the decor of the place added to the good vibes. We paid around $90 total, which felt reasonable considering the portion sizes and overall prices in Puerto Rico. Would definitely recommend it for a fun, filling, and visually pleasing breakfast or brunch spot!

We visited twice during our week's stay in Puerto Rico. Each time, our wait for a table (for a party of 2) was less than 10 minutes. The food was absolutely amazing each time, and so were the beverages. Service was good. We really enjoyed our server during our second visit. She was more attentive to our needs and personable. Whereas the server during the first visit seemed really rushed and short in communication. Our food was brought in a reasonable time considering how busy it appeared each visit. Food portions were large, and we found ourselves having leftovers each time. Parking was challenging to find each visit, but if you ride around in a circle long enough, eventually, a parking spot will become available.

Panadería España is a Spanish bakery located in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico. The bakery offers a variety of delicious treats and dishes, including strong coffee, Cubano sandwiches, caldo gallego soup, seafood paella, and braised chorizo. They also serve fresh orange juice and baked goods such as pan de aqua, oversized cookies, and cheese pastries called quesitos. The restaurant has a simple dining area where guests can enjoy their meals.
Very wide selection for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It was very busy—and I can see why! They also have a huge variety of baked goods and sweets. The roast beef and chicken sandwiches were simple yet delicious, and the bakery items were equally tasty. As a visitor to Puerto Rico, this was a wonderful experience that truly made me feel immersed in the local culture and cuisine. The staff were very friendly! I only wish I had discovered this place earlier so I could’ve visited more than once during my trip!

Everything is made fresh to order, which makes a big difference. It’s definitely a must-visit spot for tourists! It’s always busy, but the staff are friendly and attentive. The food was good, just as expected, and they offer a little bit of everything on the menu—something for everyone. The only downside is that parking really sucks, so be prepared for that. Otherwise, great experience!
Carmen — Google review
This place has the potential to be a 5 out of 5, but I would rate it a 3.9. Unfortunately, its popularity has led to a decline in the quality of service. The staff seem stressed and are not in the best mood, with the exception of the car security guard, who is incredibly friendly and attentive—his demeanor nearly elevates this review to a 3.5. There is a wide variety of food options and generous portion sizes, but the soup is disappointingly small. The fried foods are often sad, cold, and not fresh, whereas the cooked dishes and salads are fresh. It's a matter of quality versus quantity—you decide. Overall, this place could certainly improve to achieve a rating of 4 or higher. However, the pastries are nice and offer a good variety as well.
Xavier R — Google review
This place was absolutely delicious. We ended up trying a bunch of baked goods and a few sandwiches. Everything we sampled was fantastic, but their sandwiches were by far the best. Their service was great and fast. Their parking was pretty bad as people parked everywhere. Overall if you have the ability to drive here it’s definitely worth it for your tastebuds.
Coach T — Google review
Why this place has so many good reviews? Cheese flan? It tasted artificial vanilla. Croqueta? It tasted fried dough! I couldn’t eat the whole sandwich, they added a lot of bad quality ham, and cheese that did not tasted cheese, bread was not crispy. The only thing I had that was good, was the coffee, that it! Other thing, staff do not want to be there, they treat you like: “what are you doing here?”. Horrible.
Mariana B — Google review
I was visiting from out of town and HAD to stop at a panadería before catching my flight and this one was on the way. Lucky me. The service was outstanding, the attendant working with me even picked out the best avocado to take home an eat in 1-2 days. I had a lot of fun picking from the assortment of pasteries. I also got a meal from their hot buffet to eat on the plane, which was comforting and flavorful. Next time, I'll have to sit down to eat here, and do a little shopping.

I first spotted Panadería España on my way to Luquillo during my first trip to Puerto Rico, but that trip went so wrong I never got the chance to try it. The second time I visited PR, I landed and immediately told my family, “We have to go!” And we did and wow. We ended up having breakfast there every single day of the trip. The food was absolutely amazing it brought me right back to my childhood. The flavors were just like the ones I grew up with in Spain. And the bakery? No words can do it justice. If I could give more than five stars, I absolutely would. One of the best places I’ve ever been.

The restaurant El Hamburguer is a local favorite for those looking for some of the best burgers around. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and there's always a line but it moves quickly. They have a wide variety of burgers to choose from, including options with bacon, yucca and sweet potato fries. Two burgers are usually enough food for most people. This unique place is definitely worth a visit!
This joint is a San Juan staple that locas and tourists can all agree on. Whether you want a quick bite after swimming in the ocean or a late night snack after drinking, this is the place. I like to think of it as the Boricua White Castle. When you visit PR, this is one place you have to try. Great burger. *note that I forgot to take a pick of my food because I visited after one of those nights of drinking ;) aprovechó!

Used the drive through for my first visit. Have to add all the ingredients to the burger so not as economical as other places for a burger. Not sure if the burger was supposed to be flattened but the hamburger was more of a shape of a ball versus a patty. While the burger was cooked to perfection it lacked flavor. Fries are far better than the onion rings.

The wait line is outside of the main entrance door. Great traditional burgers. Juicy. Not burnt. Quick service, once seated. Great pricing in a tourist area. We did a side of onion rings to add onto our bacon burger. We walked from the parking garage and the views along the beach were very nice. One bathroom each for male and female.

Cheese burger 3/5, for a fresh made burger it was lacking some test, but properly cooked. Hotdog Large 5/5, great taste, specially with Onions. Onion rings 5/5 great taste and fresh. French fries 3/5 with no ketchup with ketchup 4/5 Wait time 4/5 gets busy but was able to skip the line due to small group size(2). Service 3/5 kind but too busy to feel prioritized, brought us the wrong order originally asked for a bacon burger. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

Such a neat spot. The burger comes as a giant ball and had a great grill/char flavor but as an fyi, it is plain ground beef. Imo could use some seasoning in there but it still tasted good! Other toppings are extra. Recommend getting bacon, they give a nice helping. Fries were great.

Amazing service, very fast. Super affordable. Hamburgers were very delicious. Busy, but you get in and out easily.
Ashley M — Google review
Great place for a burger and fries. Been coming here since a kid and the burgers and fries have been the same consistently. Burgers are on the smaller side in the meat to bun ratio but taste and mouthfeel always spot on. Parking it is customary to tip a dollar to the guy if you park in their parking lot. I usually tip if the guy is still there after eating and walking back to the car. You won't be disappointed eating here, great food and great ambience.

This a quaint hamburger joint in old San Juan. Scenic ocean front across the street. Easy to find. But the parking lot is small. An employee watches the cars so they have security. The wine burger is good and they add plenty of bacon. The onion rings are very good(homemade). I loved them. Better than Burger king by a mile. The service is pretty fast. Its best to go close to opening hours to get parking. But there are parking lots close by. They put puertorican music so the atmosphere is very relaxing.

comfortable outdoor spot with authentic Mexican flavors, refreshing cocktails and very friendly staff. the fish tacos were excellent (best i've had since a Tulum trip 20 years ago). the refried beans and chicken on the nachos were perfectly seasoned along with the fresh fried tortilla chips. Amaretto margarita was real tasty and not to be skipped . can't wait to return to try more👍🏼

Amazing ceviche tacos, great service and nice breezy outdoor atmosphere that is covered. Added bonus was the adorable Russian blue kitty charming us while we waited and ate.

Amazing experience and a must in Santurce. We had the Queso Fundido and empanada. So delish. Then we had baja fish tacos and chicken quesidallas. So filling and delicious. I wish we had the cerviche nacjos, they looked amazing. For sure the next visit. Of course, we had Pina coladas and they were great. Price is affordable and really good visit. A+++

Parking was a pain to find, but there is a lot nearby (I believe it was $2 to park there). My son had fish he loved it and so did I… I had chicken tacos and those were just okay. Their piña colada 10/10!! Overall good price and service.

La Casita de Rones is a historic restaurant in Old San Juan that offers delicious food and drinks. It's perfect for Instagram Photos because of its beautiful setting and the cruise ships passing by. Unfortunately, there are no offers currently available.
Such a beautiful restaurant with great scenery, especially outside overlooking the water! Our waitress was very attentive and gave great recommendations as it was our first time here. The piña colada is so creamy and delicious, 10/10 have to try and the espresso martini was really smooth too! The starters we ordered were all very solid, Fried Cheese 8.5/10 really different cheese texture but so good. Rum Glazed Chicken Wings, great flavor 9/10. Firecracker Pork Dumplings had an incredible sauce 9/10! For entree's we got the Chicken Stuffed Mamposteao and Skirt Steak and wow the portions were so big! Both were very solid, overall I'd highly recommend checking out this place!

My boyfriend and I were excited to try this restaurant after seeing the reviews but we were disappointed. The food was good but nothing to rave about. Our waiter was so sweet and always checked up on us. Unfortunately, what ruined it for us was the managers attitude towards us when he saw 4-5 pigeons attack our table and eat our food within seconds of it being placed in front of us. We were told "next time just shoo them away they are just hungry" and he acted like it was an inconvenience to remake our food. Won't be back

While we didn’t wait to be seated we did sit for a good 10-15 minutes before we had to personally stop a server to ask for drinks and menus. Once we did that service was quick and our server was great. Everyone in my party got different dishes and I wasn’t overly impressed with mine (the rum chicken with fried plantains) but the skirt steak my friend got was delicious. The rice and beans were also delicious. The atmosphere was very cute and the water views were nice but the sun was a bit blinding on the back patio even being under the flower ceiling they have. No fault of theirs just something to be mindful of depending on the time of day you visit.

Definitely go for the Ambience and service, the look and feel were great, cocktails for sure…. NOW IF YOUR HUNGRY go somewhere else, the food was poor my daughter and I had two plates of the Chicharron de pollo (fried chicken chunks) and it the chicken was fried maybe a day or two days before it was dry and bland. Wife had the Carne the Cerdo frita (fried pork chunks) with Rice and beans, the side was miles ahead of the protein again not fresh and over cooked, dry and bland. Only saving grace was my son who had the Rum glazed wings those looked and tasted fresh, plumpy and the glaze was great….

This was our first time visiting La Casita de Rones in Old San Juan and it was a good experience. The back patio is great as it overlooks the ocean and overall has a nice vibe. The food was good, pictured is the Fish Tacos and the chicken breast dinner. The drinks were also good, but had to be put in plastic cups due to a water shortage issue. Overall a good experience and we would visit again.

Had a rum old fashioned and the skirt steak tacos, for an appetizer we had Firecracker dumplings. The food was delicious, tons of flavor. How we described it amongst our group, the food was cooked with pride and soul, the chicken was juicy and crispy, the steak was tender and full of flavor. The rice with our friend’s dishes was seasoned and full of flavor, was worth the wait for our food.

Stopped by this bar at La Casita (pink) in Old San Juan with the intention of enjoying a nice cocktail before taking the ferry to Cataño for dinner. My husband and I felt that we were being totally ignored and not welcome by the woman bartending. She placed two glasses of cold waters in front of us without saying a word. We ask for two mojitos and she insisted that we download the menu before serving us drinks. She then went on chatting, more like flirting away with a customer that looked like he’d had enough! The prices are ridiculously high and I’m sure that she’s not a talented mixologist, so thank you lady for ignoring us, because we saved our money and went to a much better place…Nono’s Bar 🙌🏽🍹🥰

Wine store
Wine wholesaler and importer
Nestled in the vibrant Condado neighborhood, Bodegas Compostela is a culinary treasure that elevates traditional dining to an art form. This charming restaurant has been delighting patrons for over 30 years with its classic Spanish fare and an impressive wine selection. Ideal for special occasions or intimate dinners, it offers a sophisticated atmosphere where you can savor exquisite dishes like their renowned spit-roasted suckling pig—perfectly tender with irresistibly crispy skin.
A very special and refined dining destination. The owner/chef partners are very conscientious and careful to ensure a refined and customer-focused experience, and as a result I have been told that this restaurant is a frequent and favorite spot for many of the local businessmen and women of the San Juan area. The menu selections for our party of four, although a bit on the pricey side, were outstanding in preparation , presentation, freshness, and seasoning. I had the Bronzino, a special for today, which was expertly cooked moist on the inside, and with a seared crunchy skin. My wife had the octopus which was soft but not mushy. Our tuna appetizer was super-fresh and all dishes were nicely sized but not at all overwhelming. The wine list is extensive, and our waiter recommended an excellent Spanish wine that was a very nice blend that mated well with our entrees. Evidently their wine importing was the original core of their business and they expanded to add a Spanish dining experience over the years. If you want to experience a low-key, refined and high quality restaurant focused on good food and good wine for the local area (with no attempt to cater to the tourists only), then this is your place.

Over priced menu for average food. Seriously the ones that keep giving 5 are you serious? I wouldn’t pay half the amount for that food. I know food trucks and stands with more flavor. Only wine menu by the bottle. No menu for wine by the glass and no cocktail menu. No ambiance. I rather spend my crypto elsewhere. Sorry, chef suggestion less paprika and just a little S&P. The ones that say beat restaurant in PR doesn’t even make too 50 for me.

Hands down the best Spanish restaurant on the island. The service is top notch, multiple servers are always on hand to assure the best possible experience. The wine selection is extensive and daunting to be honest. Best is to ask for a recommendation, cant go wrong. Food is exquisite, very authentic Spanish taste. The owner is very gracious, listened to our preferences and recommended what fit our personal style. Highly recommend. Yes, it is pricy, but well worth the price of admission.

This place have a very special place in my heart cause it use to be one of my mother favorites. She was a spaniard and she always mentioned the how faithful to the spanish heritage was the selection they presented. Maximino had imprinted a personal and intimate touch in every corner of this beautiful place. It's diffucult to separate the superb stadard of the cuisine from the friendly elegance of their staff. Its like a family with high end manners and empathy wich nowadays give them a very exotic added value on this industry. Wine selection beyond description begining with my favorites from Vinedos y Bodegas Ponce!! Maximino and everyone at Compostela thanks so much for being there!!! See you soon!!! JSanchez

In addition to their exceptional baked goods, Spiga also serves savory breakfast options and sandwiches made with their fresh sourdough bread.
Good reviews on Maps brought me here after walking around Old San Juan all day. Was pretty hungry when I got here and scored a seat inside pretty quickly. It's a small place, so that was lucky. The fresh pasta was delicious!!! People seemed to really enjoy the pastries as well. There's also a cute little dog that must belong to the staff. He wanders around the restaurant and may come right up to your table and beg for food. 🤭 I would recommend visiting.

We are so pleased we found Spiga for our wedding! We ordered an assortment of their fresh bread and pastries to have on the dinner tables for our guests to snack on, and it was such a perfect touch. They even made fresh rosemary butter that paired beautifully with the bread—it was absolutely delicious. Spiga was so friendly, quick to respond, and made the entire process easy. The bread and pastries were unbelievably fresh and flavorful—our guests couldn’t stop raving about them! Even though I didn’t get many photos, (you can see it staying fresh under the white cloth on the dinner tables) I’ll never forget how amazing everything looked and tasted. I highly recommend providing guests with fresh bread and butter at your wedding—it was such a thoughtful, memorable detail that everyone loved. Thank you, Spiga, for making our day even more special!

Best food in Condado (and we tried many restaurants in the area) We went here twice and every single dish was excellent. Featured Amanda · married on 01/24/2020 Juan Carlos is professional while personal and the food and view are perfect! Planning a 40-50 person wedding in San Juan is not easy if you're on a budget, but Oceano fit all of our needs. We started out looking at the hotels but felt the minium consumption was over the top for what you get. Oceano offered a spectacular view, privacy, and amazing food at a fair price. Negotiations and changes to our contract were all handled by Juan Carlos with the utmost professionalism. We were blown away by the tasting and on the wedding day, our guests raved about the food. The bartenders were on point with fast personal service. We had the pork carving station at our cocktail hour on the 3rd floor and the guests seriously would not stop talking about how delicious the pasta was. My husband's 85-year-old Abuela said the pork was on point, and she's a tough critic! With our 39 guests, Oceano's 2nd floor provided plenty of room for dancing and partying and we were not disturbed by any patrons and music volume was never an issue. Even if we'd had all our 50 guests RSVP I don't think it would have been too tight. The DJ was able to have music on both the 2nd and 3rd floors simultaneously. Do yourself a favor and have the white glove service! The staff at Oceano were so professional, none of my guests realized it was a buffet. The service was phenomenal. No guests waiting in lines or fumbling and spilling dinner on their dresses! Thank you so much Juan Carlos! We really had the best night ever dancing and partying all night with our family!

Restaurant
Punto de Vista Rooftop Restaurant, located at Hotel Milano in Old San Juan, offers an easygoing atmosphere and authentic Puerto Rican comfort food. The restaurant's funky colorful mural and barrel chairs create a laid-back vibe. Despite its casual ambiance, the food is top-notch, with dishes like churrasquitos and tamarindo ribs standing out. The location is convenient for those visiting the cruise dock in Old San Juan.
The restaurant is on the top floor of Hotel Milano. Hard to get a seat. No reservations. Here's how to get a seat: Get there right at 5 p.m. and put your name on the list. If they don't seat you immediately, go somewhere nearby and get an appetizer or cocktail. The wait can be 60-90 minutes. The greeter out front will send you up the elevator. You must press the fourth floor AFTER the doors start closing. At the top floor, the elevator jumps. Walk up the stairs to the right. It's best to come here when the sky is dark for the best view. We loved the fish tacos. The fish is fried, FYI. The fries are delicious. The sliders are really good. Everything tastes good. Best meal we had in Puerto Rico.

If you can, sit at Maggie's table! Our entrees came and one of which seemed off to me; luke warm and no taste. Maggie came and asked if I would like to get something else, and recommended the shrimp dish. I agreed to change my dish to the shrimp and it was much better! Not only was she attentive to us, we saw her taking pictures for one of the tables, and wiping the lens to make sure that the pictures come out clear! Thoughtful by nature. I would gladly go to any restaurant with her as my server!

Fantastic place. They serve decent food in a good price. You can count on nice cocktail here too. Service is super hospitable and friendly, you can be sure they will help you with your orders and choosing the best combination. Mahi mahi was good but a little bit dry, still worth ordering! Shredded pork with some rice and bean on a side was a mind breaker. Tortilla wraps with chicken - okay but what’s new? Definitely recommend this place, portions are big (you can ask waiters how big exactly they are, they are eager to help anytime) so you won’t leave the place hungry. Be sure you are not allergic to pretentious plate decorations, because they try it really hard. I think we all can forgive this fact, because they can feed you right and in a nice scenery (place is located on a rooftop).
Ola H — Google review
I don't know why other people gave it less than 5 stars. The wait can be long but two doors down are nice bars to sit and wait until they text you. It is worth the wait! The flavors are so yummy and seasoned to perfection. They have drink specials and the food isn't expensive. The staff are attentive and friendly. I found this place from a woman who was staying at my hotel from Orlando. She was going and talked me into going with her. I am glad I did. Next time I am town, I plan to return. It is kind of hard to find and the elevator is hilarious how it only takes 4 people at a time.

I love this place! The staff speak both English and Spanish, they have very good happy hour 2 for 1 mojitos. Prompt and tasty. If you arrive after 4pm the wait times can be over 30 minutes however they have a very good system to let you know and many small shops close by to waste time.

The food was ok, service was pretty good. They do not have good vegetarian options. Only appetizers. The worst part about going to this restaurant is the lift the then the stairs. The lift reminds me of some horror movie. The stairs were super smelly.

An excellent, slightly off the main road, restaurant on the top floor of a hotel in beautiful San Juan. This an excellent restaurant for local cuisine with helpful wait staff for beginners. The mojitos are some of the best in the islands. They are also happy to help accommodate children with less adventurous palates with chicken fingers or a smaller order of nachos. The panoramic views are a beautiful way to enjoy the sun setting over the city. A must visit if you have only a little time in the city.

Great place for authentic food, scenic views and great drinks!! Perfect location for cruise ship tourists, however be prepared to wait as it’s a smaller location but absolutely worth the wait!! Mofongo was recommended as a must have when visiting Puerto Rico and I must say...it is!!! This is a tasty dish of mashed plantains creamy garlic sauce and choice of topping, we did churrasco it was amazing!! Drinks are great we had a wide select at our table and they were all very good. The PDV EYD “drink” is actually drunken fruit and was probably the strongest alcohol at our table which we all enjoyed. 😂 The views from the roof top are great day or night time but I preferred night as the city lights are beautiful as well as the cruise ship lights which you can see from the restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant any time you’re in San Juan!!

The Mezzanine in Catano, Puerto Rico offers a unique experience with its 1950s Old San Juan ambiance. The bar is located in the home of Pedro Albizu Campos, a leader of the Puerto Rican nationalist movement. Despite its historical significance, The Mezzanine serves classically inspired drinks with a tropical twist such as the Guava Cosmo and Patria Libre. The bar's rustic interior and generous happy hour attract both visitors and locals.
What an awesome find. We had struggled to find a place open for dinner on a Monday night. We tried 3 places and finally decided to give the Mezzanine a try. We were welcomed in, even though Eloy was the only one working he still made sure we were tended to. A great job managing the whole place regardless of the staffing. Eloy had great recommendations for drinks and great conversation as well. The food was absolutely delicious and the drinks even better. We actually never sit at the bar anywhere but if you come here, just do it, the experience and conversation with Eloy and the other staff that arrived later was so welcoming. 🌟 5 Stars – A Must-Visit in Old San Juan! 🌟 N Mezzanine was an absolute gem! Tucked away with charming ambiance and a cozy, elevated vibe, this spot instantly became one of our San Juan favorites. We tried the shrimp & pineapple dish — the flavors were bold, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The fish tacos were equally amazing: crispy, well-seasoned, and topped with vibrant slaw and just the right touch of spice. To drink, we enjoyed an Old Fashioned made with Maker’s Mark — expertly crafted and smooth — and a refreshing house cocktail that was bright, citrusy, and ideal for the warm Puerto Rican evening. Service was attentive but relaxed, and the overall vibe was chic without being pretentious. Highly recommend if you’re looking for great food, creative cocktails, and a memorable experience in Old San Juan!

The saving grace to our experience was the shrimp with pineapple and the aioli and our lovely server. Now the worst - The sweet and sour meatballs straight up tasted like something out of Chef Boyardee canned ravioli or the meatballs that come in them. We took a bite and were like nope. Luckily our server gave us grace and offered for us to get a replacement, which we did again with the shrimps. No wait for a table on a Tuesday night. We sat on a high table on the balcony which so cool to people watch. Drinks were okay.

Hidden gem in Old San Juan. Located on the second floor of a lovely historical building, with arched balconies overlooking the picturesque views of this magestic part of town. The design is sophisticated, ambience is chill and pleasant Food is delicious and the cocktails are absolutely amazing. Bonus - the downstairs cafe of St. Germain is also highly recommended

We had such an amazing dinner here. The tapas were great but our server was better! Adrienne was our best server of the trip! She went above and beyond to make sure our friend's anniversary dinner was special and gave great food suggestions. We loved all the tapas except the Mac and cheese. Restaurant Seemed sketchy from the outside but we went up the stairs and loved it all.

This is a great place and location. Right down in old San Juan on the 2nd floor, they have a bunch of drink specials and great food. We visited on a Saturday night. This place was happening with a lot of traffic. We were able to sit on the balcony, and people watched for a while and had a little dinner and some cocktails while we sat here and people watched. It's a lot of fun. Definitely stop by.

We stumbled upon this sweet spot on a Thurs around 5pm. The service was top of the line. The food was delicious. We had the ceviche and patata bravas. It’s a vibe. Editing to add: we came back an additional four more times during our trip. The brunch was stellar. We had mimosas and an incredible brunch. You guys are amazing!

Eloy and Lorna were magnificent! The experience was nothing short of perfect. The ambiance was relaxing. Dim lit, music not too loud, and balcony seating for two. It is freaking awesome. Very romantic. Came here for our honeymoon and this place was absolutely a highlight. In fact, we had brunch downstairs at the St. Germaine (same owners, different aesthetic and vibe- both outstanding) and now we are here for cocktails and dinner. We will be returning to Puerto Rico just for this experience. Both Eloy and Lorna were very informed and shared the rich history and significance of this particular establishment on Puerto Rico’s history. Just awesome. Don’t miss out.
