The Speckled Trout Restaurant and Bottle Shop offers a rustic, no-frills dining experience with a focus on Southern fare and Lowcountry seafood for both lunch and dinner. The restaurant combines Grandma's best recipes with modern chef sensibilities, featuring dishes like pickled watermelon salad, deviled eggs with house-smoked trout, chicken n dumplings, and hoecakes with molasses butter.
My husband and I visited Blowing Rock for a weekend getaway, we absolutely loved the Speckled Trout. The food was fantastic, our server was so kind and tentative even with how busy they were. We enjoyed it so much we went back a second time and sat at the bar for lunch! Highly recommend this restaurant you won’t be disappointed!
Rachel M — Google review
I ordered the trout and french fries. My wife had the trout and grits. All of the food was served only slightly warm. French fries would have been great, if they were hot. Overall, the food was good, just not hot as it should be from the kitchen. Bar drinks were OK. I thought they were small, expensive and nothing to write home about. Total bill with gratuity was $82 for two for lunch.

We came for lunch on a Saturday. I would highly recommend a reservation if you’re going during peak season. They opened at 11 and immediately had a line out the door. We did make a reservation and were sat immediately. Our server was nice and food all came out relatively quick. The smoked trout dip was phenomenal. It’s super dense but didn’t feel heavy after eating it. The wagyu burger was delicious! I would’ve liked to have a little more of the goat cheese and aioli because those flavors were subtle. The burger itself was cooked well. The trout po boy was good but not as good as the burger. The bread to trout ratio was a bit off and I felt like it needed more inside. Loved the touch of celery in the slaw! But again wished for more sauce on this as you couldn’t really taste the remoulade that much. The fries were SO GOOD. None left on our plates. All in all a good lunch and would go back!
Ansley H — Google review
Guess what we ate at the speckled trout? It was really good. They have 4-5 preparations of the trout that you can choose from. We had several at our table and all were good. The collard greens were very good also. They have a nice selection of beer.
Douglas D — Google review
We ate here twice this past weekend. I had the cracker crusted trout both times; once with mac ‘n cheese and the second time with Hoppin’ John. The food was incredibly delicious! If I was local, I would eat here a minimum of once a week! Fun atmosphere and friendly staff.
Philena S — Google review
it’s been a long time since i had a meal wow me as much as this one did. my family and i ordered a variety of entrees, and every single one was delicious. the blackened trout was buttery with the perfect amount of spice, and the strip steak is to die for. the sides were also delicious, especially the smoked gouda grits and green beans. the flourless chocolate torte was the cherry on top. our server, kellan, was very friendly and attentive. if you’re visiting blowing rock, this place is an absolute MUST. i highly recommend making a reservation and being patient with parking.
Jacob K — Google review
Great service and fantastic food! The grits were from my hometown in SC and were amazing! Everything we had was delicious! I had the blackened trout, gouda grits and collards. I promise my intention was to take a pic before I ate, but seeing it made me completely forget!!😂

We sat at the bar and ordered dinner. What a great meal. The bar staff is amazing. Plenty of beers to pick from. Wine list is fantastic. Had the grilled pork shop porter house and she had the almond crusted trout

Restaurant
Bistro Roca is an upscale-casual bistro and bar that offers a blend of New American comfort foods and wood-fired pizzas. Situated in the heart of downtown Blowing Rock, this restaurant prides itself on serving Southern-inflected American bistro fare using seasonal, local ingredients in a rustic setting. The menu features a variety of dishes such as steak, fish, appetizer spreads made with local ingredients like mushroom conserva and harissa carrot hummus.
We had an excellent experience from start to finish. The service was outstanding, and every dish exceeded our expectations. We started with the figs and spring rolls, both of which were absolutely delicious. For our entrées, we enjoyed the ribeye and crab cakes — each cooked to perfection and full of flavor. We ended the meal with the bread pudding, which was the perfect sweet finish. The restaurant is also conveniently located just a scenic walk from The Embers Hotel, making the evening even more enjoyable. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

This was our first time having lunch at Bistro Roca, and it was a wonderful experience! We sat out on the porch, which was peaceful, cooler than inside, and much quieter - a perfect spot to enjoy a relaxing meal. We ordered the Fried Green Tomato BLT and the Cuban Crepe - both were fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. We’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend this gem in Blowing Rock!

FIVE STARS to Bistro Roca in Blowing Rock! Excellent food and service in a relaxed, casual atmosphere. From superb comfort food prepared in a wood-burning stove to upscale, meticulously crafted dishes, everything is top-notch. Bistro Roca is also home to Antler’s Bar — North Carolina’s oldest continuously operating bar, open since 1932! See attached menu plus a couple of our lunch selections, including their 'famous' Fried Chicken salad!

Went with a group of 7 ladies and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. From our drinks to the main course, the food & service was exceptional. I highly recommend the Roasted Figs appetizer, which you can get wrapped in prosciutto. I also suggest the Crab Cakes, Salmon, or a burger…I didn’t eat any of those things, but based on my friends responses to their meals, I would say they were delicious!
Jennifer D — Google review
Our first time here. We were presently surprised of how the staff took excellent care of us. Miranda was awesome! Our favorite was the lobster Mac & cheese and the chocolate cheese cake. We will be back!

We were really impressed by the food! Two apps, 4 mains, and a desert…all great. Pleasant somewhat dark interior with a large bar area in a quiet part of town. Great.
Douglas D — Google review
We made a reservation for dinner in view that every restaurant in town was getting full even during weekdays. We ordered an octopus as an appetizer 🤔 and I was really disappointed, I have never seen a octopus presentación so week and unbalanced. To started it was served on a bed of hash browns waffle house style with some kind of Digon mustard that it did make no sense and not to mention that the octopus I believe never left the ocean because there was exactly seven pieces of about 3/4" in diameter and 3mm think. My wife chose the wagyu steak which I know it's an expensive piece of meet, I really don't care about the price of the plate but the service and presentación of it, she asked for a medium well steak it came as well done not to mention that even though it's a expensive steak you really expect a piece of steak and not a gourmet piece, the presentation was with something that I have no idea what it was but a couple of deep fried balls, after I tasted them it seems to be like a deep fried risotto, again for that exclusive type of steak the presentation had no balance at all. I had the duck ramen that was well done and presented as it need it to be, the duck was delicious and the ramen was well done. I'm not impressed with the food at all.

Great food....Ethan was great waiter. Calimari may be the best we ever had. Pizza was very good. The best silverware EVER...and I love good tools.

Restaurant
The Town Tavern, located on Main Street in downtown Blowing Rock, is a charming American sports bar and grill with a large outdoor patio and numerous TVs for sports enthusiasts. The restaurant offers a varied menu including sandwiches, burgers, steaks, wings, NC barbecue, salads, wraps, and desserts. With live music performances adding to the ambiance of the outdoor patio dining experience during the summer and fall seasons.
The food is okay, but the vibe and service were A+. Our server was attentive and friendly. The live music was excellent. 100% repeatable.

The food is amazing especially the Philly cheesesteak and the fish and chips. The fries are so good there and are perfectly cooked but they stick together a little bit. Our waitress was very nice.

After a full day of helping organize our son’s apartment for his senior year at App State, we headed to Blowing Rock for dinner. While I didn’t catch her name, the singer had a great voice & her little band was playing outside. It’s a nice atmosphere with not only couples, but some parents & children in the mix. I was in the mood for comfort food and the Philly Cheesesteak recommended by Julianna (our server) was awesome! She was also very attentive despite having so many other tables to serve. My husband really enjoyed the fish & chips, the cole slaw, the potato salad. I thought the sweet potato fries were also perfect! Check out The Town Tavern & be sure to add your name to the waitlist because you’ll need to, it’s a popular place! Enjoy! Josephine Local Guide

Greeted and seated quickly. Our server Julianne was excellent. Tried the French onion soup and grilled cheese both very good. Hubby got fish and chips and said it was excellent. Also got onion rings and they were great.

1st time at the TT today. i just got a basket of pub chips which were really good though it only came with ranch dressing for dipping, a chipotle ranch would've been better for me. (i didn't see that as an option on the menu and shame on me for not asking) i also ordered their house salad with grilled chicken. it was quite large, well prepared, and very good. but what stuck out were the bartenders. i didn't get their names but this is one hustling crew. the best i've ever come across! i now have a go to place in the mountains whenever i'm in the area. thanks towtav!!
Bruce N — Google review
Kinda loud...boozed up yappy gals yootin & hollerin....kinda funny! Food was ok....had a chili dog. But small size. Beer was good. Lots of sports tvs... College student Ella was adorable and a very good waitress...
Glenn S — Google review
Despite being a Minday night, we had an hour wait for a large group of 8. The other BR restaurants were 40 minute waits, so that should reflect the popularity of the tavern. They had a large firepit for people to enjoy while waiting with some outdoor seating. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Good selection of " bar foods" and brews
Kathy B — Google review
Wait time was over 50 minutes for 2 people. Ordered a steak burger and sweet potatoe waffles. The sweet potatoes waffles was cold and the steak hamburger was under cooked not completely done. Two plates cooked exactly the same.. Waitress stated that is how hamburger comes medium. It doesn't not state on menu that hamburger is cooked medium. I like my hamburger done no red. I would have rated negative value but 1 was lowest. It is a pricey place so expected the quality of food to be better.. Not a clean place either. Ceiling fan over table back room was covered in dust.

Nestled in a log cabin on the grounds of a boutique mountain inn, The Best Cellar is renowned for its haute American cuisine featuring land and sea fare. This popular dining spot has been serving locals and visiting guests since 1975, evolving from simple sandwiches and soup to now offering a modern decor and an array of delectable dishes.
Our first time dining at Best Cellar. Decorated beautifully for Christmas time. We watched the snow fall as we ate dinner. Very cozy and charming. The seafood sampler was delicious, our favorite was the oyster Rockefeller. For our mains we got the bone in ribeye and crab cakes. My husband got the seasonal gingerbread old fashion cocktail. Our server was great and brought out cucumber and berries for our 2 year old.
Meagan D — Google review
Probably the best place in town for a romantic dinner! The restaurant was decorated tastefully for Valentines Day, with cute, themed drink options. The roasted duck and seared tuna were excellent choices for main meal! They have a robust wine selection with reasonable prices, and the mixed drinks were so creative. Service was attentive but not invasive. Definitely make a reservation during busy season!
Laura W — Google review
The restaurant's atmosphere is very nice. This is not the place to dine on a budget. The drink prices are somewhat typical, $7-8 for a beer and 1/2 of a glass of wine for $11-13. Had a Founders Porter and enjoyed it. Appetizers are $10-20. We had the lobster bisque ($12). Delicious and I'd like the recipe. I had the buttermilk chicken entree, with mashed potatoes and asparagus. ($30). The chicken was delicious, but considering the price, a small portion, as were the mashed (actually pureed) potatos. If you slice a chicken breast long ways into 3 cutlets and serve 2 of the slices, breaded and fried, along with a 3" quenelle of potato (3 or 4 small forks full). There were ample asparagus. Honestly, for a $30 chicken dish, i expected much more food. Overall, the dish is not a value. The 16 oz bone-in ribeye was seasoned well and delicious ($46). The same potato portion and 1/2 of an acorn squash, glazed with cinnamon sugar. The squash was very tasty. Lesson learned- if you want to know the portion size, order the dish that contains the amount on the menu (i.e. 1/2 duck, 16 oz steak, 8 oz. fillet, etc). We had the banana cream pie for dessert. Made fresh daily, by our waiter, who was excellent. The pie is incredible. Bill including 1 beer and 2 glasses of wine was $144 for the two of us.

We celebrated both Valentine’s Day and our birthdays at The Best Cellar, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Despite booking last minute, we were fortunate to get the best seat in the house! From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable—attentive, welcoming, and truly top-notch. The food exceeded all expectations, with an outstanding selection and exceptional flavors in every dish. It’s rare to find a restaurant that delivers such a flawless dining experience, but The Best Cellar did just that. We loved it so much that we’ve already booked another night this week! Highly recommend for a special occasion or just a memorable night out!
Brittany K — Google review
The Best Cellar went out of their way to accommodate us. We were in Blowing Rock for a last-minute anniversary trip and called for a reservation. They were booked but went above and beyond to work us in. We had a fantastic time with a great table on the porch. They said they had music but we didn’t realize just how big an event it was. The entire lawn in front of the hotel was packed with people! Food was excellent and service was great. But the atmosphere was unbeatable. Thanks again!
Steen S — Google review
We were there for their Friday night live music. The venue is great (as long as it’s not raining) and the band we saw was spectacular Euphoria! Gorgeous flowers at this time of year
Marie T — Google review
The reception host. James, so gracious. Our server also named James was outstanding, knowledgeable, friendly, efficient. But the best part was the general manager, Missy and her assistant Emma who made sure everything was perfect. And it was.perfect. Seafood appetizer the beet salad, the halibut the Cinnamon butter squash,, the garlic string beans, he mashed potatoes were incredible. We have been in in the Boone area blowing Rock Banner Elk area for 6 weeks and had many wonderful experience but none was better than this. The food was amazing but the staff was equal.
Jeffrey S — Google review
I came in for dinner while visiting blowing rock and enjoyed everything. The seafood sampler was amazing and the duck was divine. Our server, Monica was an absolute delight. She was able to answer all of our questions about the menu in detail and offer awesome recommendations and service. If you go you have to try the banana cream pie, which they make fresh in house everyday!

Nestled along the Blue Ridge Parkway near Blowing Rock, Moses H. Cone Memorial Park is a preserved country estate that once belonged to Moses Cone, a prominent figure in the Gilded Age. The 3,500-acre estate features 25 miles of carriage trails that are popular among hikers and horseback riders. The centerpiece of the park is the grand mansion known as Moses Cone Manor, which now houses the Southern Highland Craft Guild.
My husband and I loved this place! The house is so beautiful to look at, inside there are some small shops with interesting items for sale. There are a lot of options for hiking with family and friends and all so beautiful. We went to the Cone graves as well as the lake. The views were absolutely amazing. The trails are well maintained and ready for anyone ambitious. We will come back soon!
Cinthya O — Google review
I would give 5 stars, but unfortunately with the government shutdown, there was no ranger to do the tour. The craft store was adorable but above my budget. The grounds looked beautiful and the horse drawn carriage ride fun. Maybe next time we can explore a bit more and do the tour. Staff was friendly. Parking is limited.
Mary C — Google review
Ok, so not only is it easily accessible, it's also gorgeous. Tons of walking/running and hiking trails coupled with beautiful mountain scenery. The manor itself is pretty, but it pales compared to the scenery. Pristine wilderness, cery pretty bass lake, quirky stairs to nowhere. It's definitely worth a stop if you're on the Parkway and is honestly a destination unto itself.
James M — Google review
Quickly stopped by on our blue ridge parkway road trip, was a nice view and to see the mansion too. Didn't want the trails nearby. Portaloos/portapotties were available on site if needed. Plenty of parking too.

Second visit here. . Little disappointed we couldnt tour the house, but maybe that is due to the government shut down.. the grounds were beautiful and it was a nice relaxing walk with our family of four..lots of beautiful spots for pictures as well..

Blowing Rock Brewing Company is a laid-back microbrewery with a restaurant and bar offering terrace seating. Adjacent to the brewery, the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum provides an enriching experience with seasonal exhibits and historical documentaries. Established in 2013 after extensive research, this mountain craft-beer haven has garnered local support. The brewery is part of the Blowing Rock Ale House and Inn, which offers lodging and fine dining.
Great craft beer and delicious food with a top notch wait staff! My love and I both enjoyed delicious well prepared bison burgers with perfectly prepared green beans on the side. She enjoyed a hazy IPA while I enjoyed a scotch ale

Don't let the outside fool you, the food is awesome. We started with a few beers and the Ale House Chips, which are ridiculously good. My wife loved the Superfood Salad...Power Greens mix, Purple Rice, Quinoa, Goat Cheese, Blueberries, and Walnuts. I loved the Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich. Everything, including the service, was awesome.
William M — Google review
Big fan of this place, have been many times and really enjoy the vibe. The cheese curds are absolutely delicious, you’ve got to try those. The most recent visit I got the southern friend chicken sandwich and green beans and really enjoyed it. The green beans are doused in garlic butter, very good. Lots of outdoor seating as well so great to come to in the summer/fall

Cozy brewery with a nice backyard Biergarten. We enjoyed the tomato soup and grilled cheese, along with the Carolina bison burger and house chips. Service was friendly and with a smile. The English porter had that smooth texture and malty finish. Highly recommend!

I personally loved eating here, you can never go wrong with some wings and carrots! The menu was simple and easy to order off of. Service was fast and quick.
A U — Google review
The fantastic the great and the ugly. Fantastic beer. We drove across the state to try on tap what I’ve only had in the grocery store. It did not disappoint. I particularly loved the Red Rider, with its malty goodness. I also had the IPA. And we ordered a six pack of their Hazy IPA to go. All of it was delicious. My favorite was the Red. Great food - we had the bison burger and chicken sandwich, all of which were excellent. Even the green bean sides were fantastic. Way better quality food than what you might expect at a pub. It was delicious all around. Now for the ugly. The reason for the three stars was the service. We sat outside, but didn’t see our server nearly the entire time. She took our order, and that’s pretty much it. She disappeared for a solid hour. And I mean that. We had to ask for napkins from other servers who rolled their eyes at us like we were an inconvenience. We had to source our own silverware for our hot food, but were told they had none. I ordered beer at the bar and brought it back to my table, because there was no one to order from. And yes, we went inside to try to find our server, but she was nowhere to be found. I understand they must be slammed but were also very disorganized and mismanaged, because every time we went inside for help, we’d hear servers complaining in front of customers about their situation. And a LOT of servers were complaining. Not sure if this is an employee problem or a management problem (or a combo of both), but what I do know is that this was the worst service I’ve ever had in a decade. Had it not been for the great food and beer (and incredible bartender who was quick to help), this would likely be a 1-star review. So my hats off to the chef, the brewmaster, and the bartender who were the only persons helping us enjoy the restaurant. My suggestion to visitors: Go inside and order their fabulous beer and food to go. And eat and drink somewhere else.

The museum was beautiful and informative. The staff, to include an amazingly nice young lady at the desk(didnt get her name) and Sam Reep, were extremely friendly and helpful. The young lady gave us directions to find the Junaluska mural that we were interested in, and Sam emailed me some amazing additional information. We mentioned eating and not only did Sam make some great recommendations, he made reservations to a place that the locals loved! We were so very excited to eat there, unfortunately, my friend became a little ill and we had to cancel the early afternoon reservations and they were booked for the rest of the evening! All of this gives us reason to return to the quaint town and see the new exhibits coming to the museum and experience the wonder all over again!

What a nice museum. Very informative video on the history of Blowing Rock, and how it came to be. Then a nice flow through the multiple galleries within the museum. My favorite exhibit was the watercolors. A wonderful collection of art and history all under one roof. The gentleman working the welcome desk was very informative and nice.

I drove in from Boone and dropped by for about an hour, and had the privilege of seeing Andréa Connell's Pattern Mapping exhibition as well as some other local paintings. A wonderful little spot to step into if you're in the area!

The Blowing Rock is a famous cliff in North Carolina known for its strong wind gusts that can blow light objects back to the thrower. The area also features the Hickory Ridge History Museum, located on the grounds of Horn in the West, which showcases some of the oldest building structures in the region and offers insight into frontier life during the mid-to-late 1700s.
It costs a few bucks, but definitely worth it just for the view! The shop workers are nice, there's beautiful little koi and turtle ponds to sit by, lots of beautiful flowers that attract butterflies, trails to walk if you want, an awesome view from the observatory, and a shop that has ice cream. It was worth the money. I spent a couple of hours there. As a bonus, I saw a very cute cat.

This place is beautiful. Yes you have to pay an entrance fee but it’s so worth it. The observation deck, the seating areas, little museum and the small hike down the steps. Although they are steep, not so bad going down but coming up a bit challenging.

Very pretty, and very easy to get to. The Blowing Rock is 10 feet away from the lobby. They have a lot of very pretty plants, all with nameplacks. They had cute turtles and moist. It's an easy going attraction the whole family can go to

Costs a few bucks to get in but with a few trails and overlooks, not to mention a little garden area featuring some turtles, it was a great way to spend a few hours. It wasn't very windy while we were there so didn't feel like risking being a litterbug by tossing my hat off to see it blown back. Great little spot for family pictures and to stretch your legs.

This place is amazing! Named after a local legend that has to do with lost lovers and peculiar, unusual wind currents, there are several different wonderful views of the Caldwell County valleys below, both at the titular rock formation, and elsewhere along the property! Lots of different observation platforms and small gardens dot the property with short walking trails in between and there is also a museum dedicated to geology and minerals, a gift shop, and a small shack where you can get a whole meal! There's even a US Coast And Geodetic Survey marker somewhere in the area! Sadly, we never got around to the museum, but I would definitely want to come back here either way!

Beautiful day. DJ playing people walking their dogs, the christmas store was okay. The store in Savannah, Ga. Is way better. To much walking to get to so decided to leave, needed a restroom also. But it was nice to visit for a one time deal.

This is one of my sons favorite places to visit when we drive up the mountains, his trip is not complete if we don’t stop here to see the views, pet the cats and get some ice cream/popcorn. Everyone that works there has been completely nice and has been helpful with advice on things to do in the surrounding area. I love bringing family here when they come visit from out of state!

This is a private business, so there is a fee to get in. Trails are nicely paved, small area. Not the there is on pathway that has a lot of stairs. Beautiful views.

Located in Blowing Rock, NC, Six Pence Pub is a British-inspired establishment that offers an extensive drinks list and a menu featuring American and English comfort food. The pub exudes a warm and inviting ambiance with its cozy yet elegant setting. It's known for its shepherds pie, fish and chips, and fried pickles.
The food is so good. The French onion soup is delicious. The half sandwich and soup combo is really good. The Guinness beer is really good. The waiter was so nice and said everything we needed to know before we could even ask. He said everything about the dietary restrictions for the specials and it was very helpful. Also the fries were so unique and absolutely delicious and the tartar was amazing! 10/10 recommended! 🙃

My husband and I went for about a four day stay in blowing rock when I saw this pub online. I was determined to try it as I was really wanting to try the fish and chips which I did and they were delicious. They were crispy. Everything tasted wonderful flavorful. My husband had a pot roast dinner and that was pretty good. I would say the fish and chips is definitely better. Their service was good. I feel like the waitress could’ve been a little more attentive, but not something that would keep me from going back and the decor and the atmosphere was great.

Went in for fathers day! Great food and drinks, bartenders were both amazing. Shift change! The food was delicious, and the environment was even better, There were a lot of young servers running around by the bar playing grab ass it was funny, I have a sense of humor other guests were annoyed and left.

We arrived and the place was busy. We weren't able to get a table together for our party of 6 ( they have a very limited number of tables that accommodate groups of more than 4). The place looked and felt like your normal run of the mill pub experience and menu options. I had the open roast beef sandwich and my wife had the salmon BLT. Both were delicious. The fries (pub chips) were out of this world good! Perfect crisp and they were a flat shape. The only reason for the lower score is because as soon as we say down we asked to buy my mother in laws table meals and the whole time the waiter lead me on like he was with it, and then he still let my mother-in-law pay after she had already bankrolled the trip. Just felt disrespectful. I don't know if he thought I wouldn't tip as well or what 🤷🏼‍♂️. I wish I remembered his name but I didn't get the receipt to have it. I'd go back and try them again if we are ever in town.

I used tend bar here in the early 2000s, I had the fondest memories of the people, the amazing food and atmosphere that brought me back to my childhood in England. After a 15 year hiatus I was so pleased to return to the friendly staff, the fish n chips were just as delicious as so had remembered it to be and the scotch eggs were still amazing!! So happy to support this wonderful family owned business!!

Great pork chops! My wife and I were visiting Blowing Rock to do some hiking. Popped into Six Pence on a Sunday night for dinner. The pork chops came with mashed potatoes with a jalapeño sausage gravy that was out of this world. My wife’s salad was packed with chicken. We’ll visit again next time we are in Blowing Rock.

I only had a beer and Fish & Chips. Expect to pay $30 for fish & chips but they were delicious. Portion was enough for 2 though. Got there early for dinner on a Monday with no problem seating outside, it does fill up fast. Service was great!

This pub restaurant is right in downtown blowing rock. Our experience was underwhelming. Not much charm to this place and looks a little run down on the inside. I got the grilled cheese and my husband got the pub burger. The food was good and the portion sizes were very generous. The service was fine but compared to the other restaurants in blowing rock we wouldn’t come back here again when we have better options.

The market also serves as a deli with refrigerated cake slices available. In addition to food items, visitors can find locally made products such as lavender soap and vegan peanut butter brownie bites at the nearby farmers market.
The lady’s working were amazing and helpful. I wish I had a place like this where I live in Florida because I would be here weekly. They have stuff I never knew I needed 😂great selection of IPAs, tons of different jars of pickled canned goods, rare chips and homemade salsas. Definitely worth a stop if you’re anywhere in the area

Every time I go hiking nearby, I enjoy stopping by for a snack and get something to go. When it is cool outside, it is nice to sit outside on the patio and enjoy your food For a small store, they do have a lot of varieties. they have tons of alcohol choices, bake meals, snacks and their sandwiches. Sandwiches are not bad, pretty basic, but enough to fill your hunger.

We enjoyed stopping here for lunch. The sandwiches were great and the vibe was too. We got our sandwiches to go and had a picnic nearby but I would have enjoyed sitting on the patio just as much. It was large and spacious. There was live music and best of all- the patio is pet friendly. Take note- Inside the store in the back left corner are coolers which have take and bake meals for families- and they looked great! I wish I had seen better advertising for them as I definitely would have tried those. (The coolers are marked Ladyfingers)

What happened to this place? It used to be a great little market and had great sandwiches. We would always look forward to coming here during our yearly visit to Blowing Rock. The owner clearly doesn't care. The employees are awful. The selections are just really bad now. So disappointing.

We drove up to see our son at Appalachian State University so we did some exploring. This was our first time visiting downtown Blowing Rock. There was a Halloween event, kids all dressed in costumes. It was adorable! We walked in to the market to get some water & I was impressed with the store. I love the fact that you can get yourself something to eat and drink & enjoy the outside seating in the middle of everything this town has to offer. This is the most ideal location & I took pics to show what they offer in their market. Enjoy!

We’ve enjoyed lunch at The Blowing Rock Market several times over the years, but unfortunately, today was a disappointment. We waited nearly 50 minutes for seven deli sandwiches, and three of the seven were incorrect. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t recommend this spot to others. Very slow service and incorrect orders.

Cool little market and deli right on Main Street in Blowing Rock. They have a deli for sandwiches and generally a couple soups. They stock a ton of craft beer and have 5-6 beers on tap. They also carry a decent selection of wine. There some general groceries - milk, eggs, etc along with various locally made breads and sweets. They also have a Lady Fingers freezer with ‘take and bake’ items which is great. They have gone back and forth on gas and on this last visit they had one pump but no gas on either side. They have limited seating inside and out. BLK spot!👍🏻👍🏻

I visited here and spent a lot of time looking through their jams and honey and was blown away by the food. The bacon eggs and cheese was cheaper than McDonald’s and was REAL! Freshly made biscuits that were the best I’ve ever had. The market is absolutely great.

Nestled in the charming town of Blowing Rock, North Carolina, Hellbender Bed & Beverage is a rustic-chic restaurant and bar that offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The place provides creative twists on bar bites and Southern fare, making it a delightful surprise for visitors. It's an ideal spot to relax and indulge in leisurely tea time or enjoy outdoor dining with family and friends.
First time here and it won't be my last. Great little spot right on sunset. Sat outside on a gorgeous day. Staff was wonderful and the food came out quick. We had the avocado toast and the breakfast burrito. Both were amazingly good. We definitely be back.
Jesse W — Google review
Ate there for a brunch spot, have not found a good breakfast restaurant in Boone yet, so give this a try. Our waiter took our drinks, then proceeded to avoid us for 25 minutes. There was nothing special about the menu, so I ordered the BLT without tomato or avocado. Our food took 35 minutes to get to our table. It was not busy, and they were telling people 45 minutes when there were plenty of seating. I will say that I only saw 2 servers, but I don’t know how the inside was. We sat outside. My BLT was mediocre; my mom makes better. My brother ordered the chicken biscuit. When it came, it was in a take-out wrapper and looked like it came from Bojangles. The egg was rubber, the chicken was cold, and the chicken was rare. It had some pink spots. Now, I will say that it looked all too be frozen. I reheated it, so I don’t know if that would make it okay, but he decided not to eat it. I think that this spot would be okay if you just need a bite but are willing to wait.

First, I understood that when traveling with dogs, it can be hard to find spaces that are top notch. With that said, I really wanted to love this place. We arrived on a chilly rainy afternoon, the Inn had a rustic, mountain pub vibe with a roaring fire in the bar, staff was very friendly. It’s an old building, so we expected there to be some age to the property. Floors are slanted, ceilings low, wash room is separate from the bathroom, all things that come with an old building and add charm. We had our 2 small dogs with us. So, we booked room 7, on the top floor, has a separate seating area from the bedroom and a back door that leads to a small area at the rear of the property so the pups can have a place to go potty. All great when traveling with dogs and needing to have take out when weather doesn’t permit patio dining. The bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows. Room also has a sound machine which is a nice touch. Sadly, the space just didn’t feel clean. In the sitting room, throw blanket, sofa and throw pillows were stained and smelled as though they had never been cleaned. Throw rug in the living room was filthy. TV in the sitting room wouldn’t show a picture, only sound. Room does have a Kuerig which is standard these days. However, coffee & real sugar was not stocked nor did they have anything to stir in creamer and sugar. Wine glasses were in the room, however they were very dusty. I think management could definitely do better on cleaning and preparing the room for new guests. Whether you are traveling with or without dogs, be aware that room 7 has a definite barnyard scent. We have stayed in many dog friendly properties that have been very clean. So, it can be done. Overall, fair for the price. But likely would not stay again.

Visited 6/14/25 for early dinner. Wanted try the Smash Burger. Was seated at highboy right next to bar. Received glass of water few minutes after I was seated. Waited another 20 minutes for server, but no one ever approached me. Ended up leaving. Room only had about 8 other customers, so no reason a server couldn't ask if I was ready to order. Employees were informed by staff that sat me that I was there for them. I heard them mentioning it when I sat down. Employees need have better customer awareness. Not impressed. I'm a local, so if food and drink were good I would have been repeat customer with company.

The experience at hellbender bed and beverage was incredible. We needed a restaurant to accommodate a large crowd last minute. We were not quite sure on the final head count (anywhere between 10-15) and all needed separate checks for work expense reports. Not only were they accommodating to a difficult request they were so nice! So so nice. We called in the morning to arrange for the evening and they were so awesome to work with us. The dinner went so smoothly…the food was absolutely delicious, drinks and cocktails amazing and the wait staff was so prompt and chill! I highly recommend a visit here. They also have an awesome front porch that was packed. Location is also perfect in Blowing Rock. Thank you to Hellbender Bed and Beverage for a wonderful experience!!

Hellbender is an absolute gem in Blowing Rock! My husband ordered the Pork Ramen bowl - he said, “By far, it had the most depth and flavor of anything I’ve ever tasted”. I had the Adult Grilled Cheese Sandwich - if you are looking for fresh, healthy, and local goodness, then order this! The food is creative and delicious, the High Country Famous cocktail was freshing and spot-on, and the atmosphere is both welcoming and elevated - perfect for any day in Blowing Rock. Every detail, from the service to the presentation, feels thoughtfully done. This is the kind of place that makes you want to linger just a little longer…. Highly recommend to anyone visiting or living nearby.

Staff is great but kitchen is HORRIBLE. We ordered our food and my grains salad came without the main ingredients… grains. Instead of comping my meal they decided they would replace it. Just got home to find out the chicken and feta I paid extra for is missing… how do you get the same order wrong TWO times in one night..? My fiancé also ordered a side dish that never came and they tried to charge us for. Thankfully we caught it but wow, get it together. It wasn’t even a busy night…

Most quaint, locally owned cafe with friendliest staff. Good coffee and lots of options for their baked goods. Wonderful and quiet seating areas upstairs so be sure to go check it out. Outdoor seatings are nice too, but you'd be facing traffic and parking spaces so I only reserve that option for early morning outing.

The vibe of coffee shop is the best. Cozy and warm, best for winter days and mornings. I have tasted one of their specialities Butter bear coffee with caramel and butterscotch mix, its sweet but has unique taste. I would recommend if anyone like sweet coffee. They were selling their own coffee blend i havent picked any. Price is a bit on high end but okay spend when in locations like this especially in vacation.

My wife and I went here to grab some matcha and coffee for ourselves and family. I frequented this shop when I lived here several years ago, so I didn’t think twice about coming here because it’s always been great. The shop was very very busy this morning and they only had two employees working. Not a big deal, the girl at the counter acknowledged us, apologized for the wait and took our order. They were definitely scrambling to get orders complete. Coffees seemed to be fine. Our matchas, not so much. If you have ordered matcha before or know what it looks like, you know it’s green. As you can see in the picture, there is no matcha in the matchas. They taste watered down and bland. As of this writing, I was informed that the cappuccino ordered was “nothing special” and “very bland.” It was a disappointing experience. The employees were stressed out but it could’ve been better. Most likely not coming back again.

Coffee Shop No. 492 Camp Coffee Roasters Blowing Rock NC April 9 2025 Camp Coffee Roasters is a little coffee shop in Blowing Rock, North Carolina, a charming little mountain village. The downtown area sits about a mile from the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway (connects the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina to the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia). Camp Coffee Roasters has a cozy vibe and an obvious appreciation for the outdoors. It might have something to do with their neighbors; Footloggers, an outdoor store. Be sure to climb the stairs near the front door of the coffee shop. They lead to a loft, overlooking Footloggers, where you can relax in a wing back chair or get some work done at a table near a window. The barista was friendly and made a respectable cortado. Enjoying life one cortado at a time!

Coffee was quite good and the service was awesome! The shop is small and tight with all the merchandise and the upstairs area while cozy is a bit odd that it goes through a clothing store. The cookie was very cake like, which I'm not a fan of but the croissant was pretty good. Parking is on the road on an intersection and a bend, so take caution when backing out.

Ambiance is very nice, good place to work/study. However, staff did not say a single word to me and the coffee did not taste good. I order a mocha that did not taste remotely like chocolate, sweet, or even good to begin with. This is my second time getting it and it tastes the exact same. Please do better!

This was our first and last visit. The staff was rude, staring us down while we looked at the menu and making a snide remark when we asked a simple question. One of the coolest Mellow Mushroom locations I’ve ever been to! The vibe here is unreal. The building and outdoor patio are super unique—Blowing Rock charm mixed with Mellow Mushroom’s funky style. You can tell they really put thought into the design. The staff was friendly and on point from the moment we walked in. We ordered a couple specialty pies and everything came out hot, fresh, and loaded with flavor. The crust? Perfect. Crispy outside, soft inside. Also, shoutout to their beer selection—tons of local craft options that paired great with the food. If you’re visiting Blowing Rock, this spot is a must. Good food, great service, and a setting that stands out. Will definitely be back!

Incredible pizza and wings. This was the first time we’ve been to Blowing Rock and this was the first restaurant we visited since we didn’t have reservations at the others. We were seated immediately. Waitress was attentive. Parmesan wings were some of the best wings I’ve had. Pizza came out quickly and was very tasty.

Oh my gosh! 🤤🤤🤤 My server was super friendly, and super accommodating. I’ve been told my requests can be difficult. When asked what I wanted, I just told her whatever her favorite was. And she nailed it! Lol She brought out some pretzel bites with a really dipping sauce that I recommend you double up on. It’s so good! Then I was brought a small pizza built 50/50 “Super Pep” & “Holy Shitake”. I’m gonna dream about this pizza, haha My server then gave me suggestions on hikes that are dog friendly, and others that are not. She also shared some information and personal experiences of the hurricane, and everything that followed. I didn’t eat anywhere else in town, but I feel confident saying this is the best food in town!

Pizza was great! Lots of pepperoni which was awesome. I ordered baked wing in hot (not hot at all) and Thai Chili. Though their menu says crispy baked wings they lack crispness. Hot sauce was was probably added then baked because the wings were dry. The Thai chili sauce was added to the wings after. My only complaint about the food is I ordered tater tots and got like 6 pieces. I would've preferred 12-15 tots for the price. Atmosphere is busy and loud. We ate inside and it was really warm. Too warm and stuffy. They need some fans for circulation and more bathrooms. One bathroom for each gender in such a busy place. So there's always a line.

The Mellow Mushroom Review: Visited The Mellow Mushroom on a Friday and had about a one-hour wait before being seated. The place was busy and lively, which showed it’s popular, but the pizza I ordered ended up being a bit hard and overcooked. The toppings and flavor were good, but the crust could’ve been softer and fresher. The staff was friendly and kept things moving even with the long line, but overall the food didn’t quite live up to the wait. Might give it another try on a less crowded day to see if the experience is better when it’s not as busy.

This is the best pizza restaurant in Blowing Rock and is very popular with both locals and visitors. The only knock I have is parking. Its location in the center of town makes parking a real hunting expedition when looking for free parking. There is a free city lot behind the bank that most visitors don't know about providing about a 60% or better chance of finding a spot. I recommend arriving for a late dinner around 7:30 PM. The main advantages being easy to find parking and the crowd will be thinned out. The service and food are very good with reasonable pricing. Last night our server (Sarah) was EXCELLENT.

Nestled in the Appalachian Mountains, Doc's Rocks! Gem Mine & Amusements offers a unique experience for visitors to pan for their own gemstones and fossils. The gemstone mining operation provides an opportunity to unearth precious treasures while learning about their formation. Families can enjoy sifting through buckets of ore to find gems, and even have them cut on-site. In addition to gemstones, kids can search for arrowheads, fossils, and shark teeth.
My husband and I came here 11 Apr 2025 during our vacation and I can't say enough good things. Everyone that works there is very nice and will take time to answer questions and tell ya some history! We'd only gem mined once before at a different location but didn't find much so we decided to give gem mining another go at this location and we ended up getting a couple of buckets because it was so fun and it was exciting seeing what the earth can do and seeing what gems and/or fossils one can find, which we found a lot of both!!! And as if finding beautiful gems wasn't enough, Daniel, the gemologist, was AMAZING!! He went through our finds with us and explained what each piece was, how it was developed in the earth, whether it was worth cutting or not, and also helped us separate our findings so they'd be easier for us to identify again on our own. This man is a WEALTH of information! We had SO SO SO much fun and will def be back next time we're in the area for more gem mining AND putt-putt. If you are in the Blowing Rock area, I HIGHLY suggest swinging in to Doc's Rocks!

We thought it was an authentic gym mining experience, but it was Gems and sand put in a bucket. We did get to pan in the indoor little river like area and we all got some really pretty gyms. The female employee that helped us was very nice and knowledgeable about all the gyms. She took the time to go through every gym that we had and explain each one to us. All in all we did have a good time and got so cool Gems to take home as souvenirs.

They also have a small indoor mini golf course.

Expensive but fun and you get a lot of rocks and gems. I recommend getting the bucket I forgot its name but it’s the one that costs $100 it’s a good deal because instead of getting to large buckets you can get one huge bucket that’s 3x bigger than the large one.

Had a great time, took my 4 and 2 year old. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We found our gems then spent time identifying them with a staff member. We only did the gem mining. Cool little spot to visit and spend some time..

Wow we had a great time here. My kids were able to comb through the big bucket of rocks and each of them got special treasures. They also went through the extensive museum and saw really fantastic specimens of fossils, rocks, etc. The attraction has varying levels of pricing so everyone can participate to some extent. Great place for a few hours of inside fun

We stopped at Doc's Rocks on the way back from our vacation. Kids had a blast. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. lots to do , look at and touch. Good prices. The dinosaur museum up stairs was nice and well stocked, and given with a guided tour. I definitely will go back.

We had so much fun! The youngest kid got the emerald strike, and we got the mother load. We got some amazing stones. It was a neat experience for the kiddos. The fossil museum was the best in my opinion. The guy Chris who was in there had to tons of stories and really super cool information. We enjoyed his guidance on what to look at and history information.

Twigs is a top restaurant in Blowing Rock, known for its refined Southern cuisine and sophisticated ambiance. Located at 7956 Valley Boulevard, the restaurant offers high-quality dishes made with fresh, local ingredients. The cozy dining room provides a comfortable setting to enjoy a diverse menu featuring starters, soups, salads, and entrees. On Friday and Saturday nights, guests can also enjoy live music performances by various bands.
We decided to celebrate a birthday with our friends who had recommended Twigs. The food was delicious, and the presentation was impressive. My Petite filet was cooked perfectly 👌 Everyone enjoyed their choice. Our server Cole was awesome. Patient, attentive, a great sense of humor. Martinis were made as requested! A good selection of wine. We will definitely go back.

Rustic meets fancy at this cute little restaurant in Blowing Rock. We didn’t have a reservation but we got there shortly after 5pm and were able to get a table on a Thursday night. The atmosphere is intimate and my husband and I enjoyed our experience. We started with the fried Brussel sprouts which had a dipping sauce that had a good flavor. My husband got the wild caught salmon and I got the filet mignon. The filet did have some chewy fat I had to cut off but it was good overall. We also got the Cesar salad with our meals. We finished with the Triple Chocolate cake and decaf espresso which were lovely. On Thursday nights the bar has a beer flight special so the bar was packed as soon as the doors open. They do have daily bar specials and a separate menu for the bar as well. Great place to check out for a nice date night.

My husband and I went here on our first night while visiting the area. The atmosphere inside was very cute, perfect for a date. Although we liked what we ate. I had an extremely hard time finding anything to eat as a person with a gluten allergy. The menu was not labeled and the restaurant wasn’t very accommodating. The waiter only had one thing on the entire menu I could eat(a salad), and I added grilled salmon to it. We liked the taste of our meals, however, the portion sizes of the meals left us both hungry after.

I went to Twigs and it was awesome! Tori was my server and she was very kind and polite and hardworking. She checked in on me many times while also serving 5 other tables in a timely manner. She even drew a smiley face on my cheeseburger with ketchup :) 🍔 I definitely recommend dining in at Twigs and request Tori as your server! ⭐️⭐️

White table cloths and food (both quality and presentation) were excellent. The staff was awesome and the cocktails were perfection! The restaurant atmosphere and cleanliness however, were questionable. At the initial impression, We noted the door at the entrance had smudges and fingerprints on a large part of the door. As we walked in, we appreciated the “twig” furniture but noted the cushions were old and deflated. We also. Noted several Christmas decorations that were still up( it is August). The dining room floor is carpet and that is always a res flag for cleanliness. Overall, again, some of the best food we have had in BR, but…. the negatives will hinder our desire to return. We would love to see a “refresh” for the entire restaurant

Sincerely wanted this to be a good experience on our monthly date night but was unfortunately not... From the time we entered there was a sense of chaos. Nobody at the hostess stand and when the arrived physically appeared distraught. We offered to wait at the bar for our reservation and then was forgotten according to the hostess. The bartender demanded we cash out prior to moving to the table which is usual for a good establishment. Once arriving at out table, an elderly couple across from us that was seated 15 minutes ahead of us still hadn't had contact with there server much less even offered water. We called out for another waitress to service our table and she was great. When the young man who should have waited out table showed.to the couple across 20 minutes later, scolded the couple for complaining because they where short staffed. When our food finally started to arrived course after course, it was awful. Anything fried tasted heavy of old oils... My wife returned hers to the kitchen entirely it was so bad. I would say to all who consider dinning here, avoid at all cost. Fast food would be a better experience entirely.

I wrote a review a couple of weeks ago, but it hasn’t been posted. I’ll try again, because I feel so strongly about what I shared. We ate at Twigs on Thursday evening before Labor Day. It was my husband’s birthday, and we were looking forward to a nice dinner. We had a reservation - but didn’t need it. Our server was excellent - but it went very downhill from there. First, the atmosphere was cozy but dated. It definitely could use a refresh. The real issue was the food. It took quite awhile to arrive; our waiter sweetly apologized, saying there had been a mix-up in the kitchen. When the entrees arrived, they both were, very literally, awful. My husband ordered a pasta dish. The pasta was undercooked and dry. Worse, the seasonings were strange and tasted so odd, neither one of us could eat it. My steak, which I ordered medium, arrived raw/bloody. I asked for it to be cooked some more, and when it came back, it was still underdone. And, it had the similar odd/strange seasoning that the pasta had. We sent both meals back, something we’ve never done before. Please don’t waste your time or money here. It was such a disappointment. (We didn’t pay for the meal, but of course we tipped the waiter well; it wasn’t his fault.)

My very favorite place in Olive blowing rock the chef is so magnificent that you should never ever even think to suggest changing anything that he makes because this man knows what he’s doing his beautiful wife works there as well and you will get five star service and the best food and all of blowing raw as well, as having the phenomenal experience of dining and one of blowing rocks, very old establishments, I started going there 30 years ago. It’s just a bar with a bunch of bands and hillbillies and it was fun, but it was also you know crazy fights drugs alcohol now it’s fine dining at its best. The bar menu is phenomenal the main restaurant menu, phenomenal, and the chef maybe one of the best chefs I’ve ever had the experience of enjoying food the way he will make anything that’s on the menu because he’s not gonna he’s not gonna give you anything bad he’s going to make sure he knows what’s good and that’s what you’re going to get and if you think you want it different than he prepares it you’re wrong because he knows just what he’s doing. I highly suggest anyone and I hate to even share this place and I’m not going to even share their specials, but I highly suggest anyone ever going to blowing rock from anywhere in the whole world stop by this gym of a place. They’re only open after five, but you will never be disappointed and don’t ever try to change any special orders because the chef knows better and that’s the only restaurant I can say that about and I’ve traveled the world🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Storie Street Grille is a family-owned restaurant in Blowing Rock, NC that offers delicious Southern classics mixed with Mediterranean flavors. The restaurant has an extensive wine list and cocktails liquored up with NC Spirits.
Storie street grille and sidecar bar is highly recommended. The spicy paella was so flavorful. It was spicy because of the spicy chorizo which we like even if that was the first time that we have tasted a spicy paella. But the spiciness was not overwhelming for us. The shrimps and mussels which were in abundance compared to the one that we have tasted in Barcelona Spain were so fresh. There was the perfect amount of saffron not too overpowering and not too mild that you won’t taste it at all. The Pasta inferno with its spicy rosa sauce was so scrumptious. The first time too that we have tasted a spicy pasta and the pasta was cooked just right. The calamari were fresh and just the right amount of breading and their dip was the perfect pair. Their spicy Paella (No Es Paella) and their NC Trout were popular but we just did not feel like eating fish freshly caught from their rivers and streams 3 weeks after that devastating hurricane causing that terrible flooding. We primarily went to Blowing Rock and its neighboring Towns to support local businesses. The restaurant location was so convenient for us along Main Street just a block away from our hotel so it spared us from looking for parking on the side streets. Love the restaurant ambiance and our waiting staff were great. Definitely make reservations. We came earlier than our reserved time so we stayed at their bar and the cocktails that we have were amazing. I came with my wife Line and our daughter and her boyfriend and all of us love this Restaurant and bar that I featured it in our vlog entitled “Blowing Rock NC things to do this Fall” at Lino and Line YouTube channel.

What a wonderful restaurant with friendly, helpful staff. The patio on the back is a lovely spot to dine. The steak my husband ordered was cooked well, tender and tasty. My vegan options were great! Kale, quinoa and tofu in a salad. Beautiful presentation

Certainly not the first time I've been but first time since they opened the sidecar bar. Love the vibe. This is one of the best restaurants in blowing rock. First time having pasta here and wow! So good! And generous portions. Drinks were also well made and service was great. Will certainly be back
Jesse W — Google review
Service was excellent, Jacob really went above and beyond with accommodating our dietary needs. The good was fresh and very good. We were sitting on their balcony, which is kind of outdoorish, there was a solid roof and open windows all around. It was lovely. For an appetizer we ordered Baba Ghanoush, served with cucumbers and toasted bread. It was tasty, very standard flavor. Blackened chicken with potato tots and Grain Bowl with chicken were the main course. Everything tasted good and was very fresh.
Masha K — Google review
We went in at an odd time for their style of serving plates, so we did not have a full choice from the menu. We also were not offered a choice in case we wanted from the dinner menu which starts at 5pm and we entered at 4:49pm. Regardless, we ordered an appetizer of green fried tomatoes, real good, 1 smashburger that was fine and shrimps and grits were also decent but too much sauce , my partner ordered a glass of pinot noir. In general, you can try the place, but it is definitely overpriced. As a Miami native - I am used to high prices in trendy restaurants, but this one was priced like I was back in South Beach. The service was really good - super nice young lady.

Really great experience. Service was quick and friendly, cocktails were fresh, not too sweet, and perfect strength. I got the trout and heirloom grits and haven't stopped thinking about it ever since, to the point I'm going to attempt to make it at home! The flavor was like rich and subtle at the same time, not sure how to even describe it, and hearty but light. It was a generous portion and I ate the majority of it and didn't get that bloated blah feeling after leaving so many restaurants. The french fries I stole off my friend's plate were excellent as well, like Five Guys but better! Will definitely go back next time in I'm town!
Jessica M — Google review
Hardly a negative thing to be said here. The food was insanely good and the quality is fantastic. Good service too. The Baba Ghanoush was the only thing that was just okay. The meatloaf was maybe the best I’ve ever had. Try this place out!

Storie Street Grille & Sidecar Bar – We had a fantastic experience here! The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. My personal favorite was the soup of the day—potato soup—it was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. Everything we tried was cooked perfectly, and the atmosphere made the meal even more enjoyable. Definitely a spot I’ll be returning to!

Great spot in Blowing Rock! 🌮🔥 Mexican Rock serves both authentic and creative Mexican dishes. The tacos are flavorful and the Bomb Potatoes are huge and loaded with delicious fillings. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and everything tastes fresh. The restaurant has a fun rock-style vibe with stone décor and a lively atmosphere—perfect for friends or family gatherings. This was a great little Mexican place. The bartender was fun and sociable and grey with the frozen margaritas. We tried every flavor and they were all delicious. Lovely brunch! Coffee was great and really enjoyed the breakfast sandwiches. Did liver mush with egg and cheese on English Muffin and same on wheat bread. Generous portion and was piping hot. Liver mush perfectly cooked. Friendly staff. Highly recommend. Other food items going to other tables all looked delicious. Decent amount of seating inside and outside

We ordered chicken fried steak and flounder. The black eyed peas were under cooked, the mashed potatoes and green beans were good, but the flounder was greasy and the chicken fried steak was awful. Our waitress never smiled. The only thing she said to us was “Are you ready to order? “and” are you ready for the bill?”

In addition to the delectable treats, the establishment also features a full espresso bar serving fresh coffee and crafted lattes. It's an ideal place to unwind after a day of shopping downtown.
Originally from FL and was craving ice cream while it was less than 20° outside while visiting. This store offered great ice cream sandwiches. They also sell muffins! I highly recommend trying the Red Velvet Cookie ice cream sandwich with chocolate ! If you're near the area, I definitely recommend stopping by. FYI: Parking might be a bit of a slight issue if you arrive during a busy weekend, but you can parallel park near the store.

I stopped by this coffee shop after seeing the great reviews. I got an Americano, an iced latte, and two cookies. The cookies were good, but I was really disappointed by the drinks. The Americano had way too much water…. it was honestly undrinkable, couldn’t have more than one sip (photo says it all), and the latte wasn’t great either :/ I didn’t finish it. 2 stars for the cute spot and the cookies.

This little spot tucked right on Main Street was the cutest! 🥹✨ The second we walked in, it smelled like warm cookies and fresh coffee—total comfort vibes. Blue Deer serves up handcrafted cookie ice cream sandwiches, coffee, and more. And the best part? You get to sample the ice cream before choosing (yes please! 🙌). We went all in with two amazing combos: 🍫 Double chocolate chip cookies + lemon crunch ice cream 🍋 🍓 Strawberry cheesecake cookies + peach ice cream 🍑 The flavors were super refreshing, the cookies were warm and chewy, and the whole thing just hit the spot. So good and sooo worth the stop. Cute, cozy, and 100% delicious….

This was our first visit to Blue Deer on Main. Molly & Ayden are the sweetest! I didn’t know this place offered ice cream, and not just any ice cream. It’s shocking what kinds of ingredients are in the popular brands!!!! So often times I ask shops where they source. Here they offer ice cream that is sourced from Homeland Creamery, family-owned and operated for multiple generations in Julian, North Carolina with sustainable farming practices. They believe in taking amazing care of their cows and happy cows = better tasting milk. I can tell you right now we will never go back to the other ice cream purveyors after tasting this! My husband picked out a double chocolate cookies and ice cream, and I went with the strawberry cheesecake & vanilla ice cream. Words cannot convey how delish this treat was! We’ll be visiting their Boone location too when we visit our son at App State. Something about this ice cream just tasted more real! We’ll be telling everyone & just hope we can still get it, once I share as a top Google Guide, this is too good to keep a secret! Enjoy! Josephine Local Guide

Egg Rollin' offers a unique and satisfying food experience with a variety of delicious egg rolls. Despite some waiting time, customers were extremely pleased with the result. The rolls come in different flavors like Buffalo Chicken, Cuban, Reuben, and limited-time specials. Customers enjoyed the diverse range of flavors packed into each roll. The service was also praised for being awesome. Some even wished there was an Egg Rollin' closer to their home so they could visit every day.
Wow. This was quite the unique food experience! We were a little unsure due to the service taking quite a while for the food to arrive, but we were extremely satisfied with the result! The crab rangoons were tasty (but I think there was queso in there instead of cream cheese, which was interesting). We split the 4 for $14 rolls, choosing Buffalo Chicken, Cuban, Reuban, and limited time ACP! They were all so great! It was like trying a wide variety of food categories in one sitting. We were definitely full after this. Worth a try!

Cute little eatery in strip outlet shopping. Interesting meal selections, lots of options and sides. I went for the egg rolls paired with my selection fries. Seemed different sauces for egg rolls, All sweet and not much to my liking. Would prefer to have sauce bar (rather than waiting, asking for different sauces when small egg rolls were mostly eaten. Had asked for mustard and catsup and were missed until I requested again. No lids for refill on takeout soda. Would return again and again if I lived here for additional options, perhaps more to my greater satisfaction.

I love the food from this place - highly recommend for that reason. But on this particular day, we walk in and are greeted with a “hello, can I help you” and reply with “yes”. We are standing and looking at the menu on the wall, and I assume she didn’t hear us, but instead of walking closer (she was standing halfway across the restaurant) and repeating herself, she said “yes, no, I don’t know, guess not… whatever… hello?!”. For this reason alone, we walked out and chose not to eat there today. I’ve had great experiences in the past, and I would recommend the food because it is really good. But I was not happy with how we were greeted and spoken to as potential customers today.

Great find! We went in curious and left happily satisfied. We tried the Chicken and Waffles, the Cuban, and the Crab Rangoon and they were all really delicious! The egg rolls were all full flavored and the crab rangoons were stuffed and you can actually taste the lump crab meat! Leann (the owner) was lovely and we look forward to coming back and trying more of the fun options on their menu!

I normally love Egg Rollin' and I am really sad they are closing the brick and mortar store. However I was horrified that they allowed someone bring their dog in the restaraunt AND have the sit at the table where othet patrons would eat later. Not only is it unsanitary but it can make other guests who may not like dogs, are alergic to dogs or have a fear of dogs uncomfortable. Please put your HUMAN customers health and safety first. On a side note it is a clear violation of health code.

The food was okay but the customer service was as unbelievably unprofessional and rude. This lady (believe her name was sharon) had the worst attitude i’ve ever seen in a restaurant. We were greeted with attitude snarky attitude and mean mugs. She was busing tables and taking orders but it was no way to be greeted when this is a first time experience.

Had an awesome float trip with my son and our guide Lawson from Speckled Trout Outfitters! It was our first time fly fishing, and Lawson was incredible—teaching us on the fly (no pun intended 😉). We landed around a dozen trout and had an absolute blast on the water. Lawson and the entire team at Speckled Trout were professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. I’d absolutely recommend booking a trip with them if you’re in the area. Pro tip: after your trip, you’ll probably be hungry—do yourself a favor and walk next door for the trout nachos. Trust me, they’re seriously 👌

I can’t recommend him enough, he was very knowledgeable and patient with us! We started out as total beginners and by the end of the trip we had a new love for fly fishing! We hope to get back in the spring and “hook up” with Lawson again!

Our fly fishing tour today was amazing. Our guide Joe was exceptional, very knowledgeable, very thoughtful, and an all-around good dude. My companion was an experienced fisherman but who had never gone fly fishing. I really have no fishing experience at all. He helped us to get in a great place first and by the end of the day we cought nine fish. The whole day was fun and interesting. The area that we fished in was in the Chuck Norris film Delta Force. It was this fact along with at least 40 to 50 other Chuck Norris factoids that we learn from our guide. He is one of the most knowledgeable Chuck Norris fans we have ever met.

Amazing full moon hike with Ryan around Price Lake! A fun blend of lunar trivia and team building. I've hiked that trail more times than I can count but never at night with only the light of the moon to guide the way. New memories for an old favorite.

The menu features classic dishes using fresh ingredients from the area, making it a great option for vegetarians and those on gluten-free diets. There is also a restaurant offering terrace dining where guests can enjoy the stunning view.
We stayed at the Inn & ate at the restaurant. I’ve lived in NC for over 20 yrs. & I can’t believe I’m just now discovering Gideon Ridge! The Inn is adorable, very clean, the most comfortable bed & the bathrooms are updated very nicely. Their little touches are what makes the experience so quaint. Our meal was one of the best we’ve ever had, the lamb shank was next level. It was my husband’s birthday & they all mentioned it…again, the little touches. Breakfast the following morning was an added bonus, we didn’t even know it was included. We’ll be back, the views are unbeatable!

We have stayed at Gideon Ridge 8 or 9 times over the years. It is our most favorite getaway. The rooms, the staff, the food - all of it is unparalleled. Can't wait to go back again.

We first learned of the Inn when staying in Blowing Rock for a horse show. My wife made reservations for dinner, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We thought the place so beautiful, we had to come stay for a weekend, and we’re so glad we did. We stayed in the Cedars Cottage, which is just gorgeous. The bed is huge and very comfortable, the shower is spacious & hot, the fireplace is lovely and puts out wonderful heat, the little patio is secluded and quiet. We highly recommend the Inn, and I imagine that we will make a stay here an annual event.

My boyfriend and I just got back from the most amazing stay at Gideon ridge. We’ve been before for just dinner which was incredible but this time we stayed for 3 nights and we can’t wait to go back. The staff are so friendly, warm and accommodating. They go above and beyond including putting fresh baked cookies and a card wrapped in a cute little gift bag, on your door handle every night. It was such a nice surprise and really showed how much effort they put into the tiny details to help their guests feel welcome. The views are incredible and the inn itself was decorated beautifully for the holidays. They had a wood burning fire going in the living room all day which was a perfect spot to drink coffee and read. The rooms were large, cozy and clean with luxurious robes and fluffy towels. (They don’t skimp out on fresh towels). The rooms had the perfect amount of vintage charm with modern luxuries. Breakfast every morning was incredible. So fresh and filling with delicious coffee. Major shoutout to the chef and cooking staff. Highly recommend grabbing a cocktail at the bar (which had an amazing bartender/mixologist) and watching the sunset in the sunroom. We seriously can’t think of anything disappointing to say about our stay and are counting down the days until we’re back. It’s a place where you can feel equally comfortable wearing your pajamas around or dressing up. We were so sad to leave today but want to thank the Gideon Ridge staff for an exceptional stay in this cozy, private oasis ❤️❤️ we’ve stayed in a lot of places around the world and this is by far one of our best experiences. We stayed here in April and the location, food and environment were excellent. We arrived Sunday and found that the restaurant was open for more casual dining on Sundays so we were pleased to get a bonus meal at the restaurant. Our dinner reservation on Monday (the main reason we stayed) was one of the best meals we’ve had in NC and we were pleasantly surprised when the chef cooked the breakfast pancakes on Tuesday-the blueberry pancakes were superb. Breakfast the following day (not cooked by the chef) was still much better than the average hotel breakfast. They are very thoughtful about the guest experience and they put out cookies for you ever night which is a sweet touch. The grounds were absolutely lovely and it was the perfect quiet getaway. My only small qualm is that when I tried running the bath in our room oily residue/scum came out from the jets and when I informed staff they didn’t really address it. I think offering to clean the tub or change rooms (there was availability) or even comp some free drinks would have been an adequate response 🤷🏽‍♀️ the scum made the tub unusable and that was one of the reason we chose our specific room. This is why I cannot give it 5 stars but overall we still had a great experience and we would return.

High quality place with a good view. A trusted friend of mine works here and personally recommends the food, which is probably the best test of ‘Is it good’ I can think of. The staff seems like they’re allowed to have fun while they work. Beautiful view. One thing you’ll notice is that the building was constructed without electric air conditioning in mind. It gets hot. It’s getting hotter now than when it was built, and that trend will continue. It might be helpful to update the insulation and to research options for other building-cooling techniques. Modernizing buildings instead of replacing them is one of the most important things we can do! Quality is always worth its price.

Really nice park. Everything looks like brand new. The playground is amazing and biggest that we visit. It has a volleyball, double tennis, basketball, and soccer court. The main entrance is through beautiful kiosk with a real gardening work.

Super cute shop with all kinds of little things you had no idea you needed. I went in to browse and left with a coffee cup but could’ve left with so much more. American restaurant
The Restaurant at Gideon Ridge in Blowing Rock, NC is a highly sought-after dining spot known for its exceptional service and extraordinary food. It's a popular choice for anniversary celebrations and romantic dates. Reservations can be challenging to secure due to high demand, with booking windows opening only two weeks in advance. The location offers stunning views, especially during sunset or sunrise. While the menu may benefit from updates, the dessert receives high praise.
It’s odd to have visited The Blowing Rock Park here as many times as I have over my decades in NC, but to have somehow completely missed this hidden gem of a restaurant (or the Inn!) so close by. Now that we know about it though, we’ll be sure to return. The Cheese Plate was easily enough to serve as a starter for 4 people; the 3 of us had to take some to go, so as to avoid killing our appetite for the main course. We skipped the soup/salad for the same reason and are glad we did. My wife and daughter shared the 8oz Wagyu Tenderloin with a fresh Basil Pesto (quite sharp and amazing), while I had the Venison Tenderloin. Both were cooked to perfection, and the accompanying vegetables & potatoes were wonderfully seasoned. Oh, and that Guava Crème Brûlée? TO DIE FOR! I’ve had crème brûlée in 2-star Michelin restaurants that were no better (and they were amazing, obviously!) Sooooo creamy and light, exploding with flavor, the crisped top wasn’t too thick/crunchy, but a perfect thin layer. INCREDIBLE.
Charles P — Google review
Sensational. The food is amazing but it’s the service, ambiance, and atmosphere that really steal the show. The small menu highlights fresh local ingredients and the dishes reminded me of some three Michelin star dinners I’ve had in NYC. Eric Ripert himself would be proud of their halibut presentation! The views are spectacular and the service is friendly and knowledgeable but never stuffy. We’d happily drive from Charlotte to have dinner here whenever we can.

Stellar. Everything was impeccable, from the view to service to the food. They strive for perfection and make you feel like you're the most important people in the room. There's not enough good things to say. Get a reservation two weeks in advance and try it for yourself.

The dining experience is exceptional, with each dish reflecting the chef's creativity and passion. Every plate is a unique masterpiece, showcasing vibrant colors and intricate presentations that promise a feast for the eyes and palate. Using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and distinctive sauces, each bite offers a harmonious blend of flavors and textures that truly sets this restaurant apart. Service is warm and attentive, with enthusiastic staff eager to share their knowledge and recommendations, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere. The impressive wine list is thoughtfully curated to complement the exquisite food, inviting you to explore new pairings. Whether for a special occasion or a casual meal, this restaurant delivers an unforgettable experience. Last but not least is their stunning view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Never have enough.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Gideon’s Ridge Restaurant We had an incredible dining experience at Gideon’s Ridge! The views are absolutely breathtaking — a perfect backdrop for an elegant evening. The restaurant itself is beautiful and welcoming, with a peaceful atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. Our waitress, Bower, was exceptional. Her friendly personality and attention to detail made the entire experience perfect from start to finish. I had the duck, which was cooked to perfection — flavorful, tender, and beautifully presented. My wife had the sea bass, which was equally delicious and fresh. Every dish was crafted with care and paired wonderfully with the stunning setting. If you’re looking for a memorable meal with amazing food, wonderful service, and unbeatable views, Gideon’s Ridge is a must-visit.

Sheer perfection in every way. The dishes are creative and in keeping with the seasons. We first had delicious drinks and enjoyed the amazing views and followed by the pate, mushroom mousse, scallop appetizer and farmers salad. WOW! First time visiting Sunny Rock and we LOVED everything! The service was wonderful and the food was amazing. Everything perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The prices was very reasonable as well. We had no issues with anything and my family are very picky when eating out. Our server was so sweet and so attentive. If you are in the area, you should absolutely stop in. Best hot chocolate and apple cider ever! Definitely a must try!

Due to being short staffed like every other restaurant now, we had to sit at the bar. However, I consider it a blessing.. the bartender was quick, friendly, and very attentive. The food was affordable with some unique choices as well as classics so everyone will find something they like (or would like to try). Only downside, the coffee tasted a little burnt.

This is a great breakfast place, that I am sure locals frequent for good reason! I had 2 scrambled eggs with corned beef hash and cottage fries. I didn't want bread so they substituted it for tomato slices. The corned beef was good but I would have loved it crispier ! Hubby had the strawberry 'French toast' which is a croissant , sliced, dipped and fried. It was delicious! I also had the apple cider too which was so so good! I would have loved to have more but we were going to go hiking after! They had already closed by the time I remembered to go back the next day!

We have wanted to try this place for a long time because we always saw a line outside so knew it must be good. This morning we got up early to make sure we could get in. It was fabulous! My husband had the Sunrise and I had the Boone Bennie (picture). He always complains about his eggs wherever we eat but not today. He said they were perfect. My breakfast was so delicious and cooked perfectly. My only regret is that I could only eat half. Service was also very good. If you haven’t been here you are missing out. We will definitely return.

My husband, some friends, and I went here to eat. I had the lobster and my husband got a ribeye. My entree was good, but I didn’t like the “mac and cheese”. It tastes like pasta salad and is spicy, which was really disappointing. The ribeye was overcooked, but okay. Service was decent.

We had such a wonderful experience at Blowing Rock Outback. Our Waitress, Becka was a delight!! And William came out to personally greet us and made us a special treat! We will never forget this night. Thank you!

Everything was really great! My steak came out a little overcooked, but Lauren, our waitress, was so kind and offered to either have a new one made or take it off the bill. Since we were short on time, I just asked for it to be taken off the bill. Jay, the kitchen manager, even came over personally—he was super apologetic and made a fresh steak to go. I love when something might not go perfectly, but the way it’s handled makes all the difference. And this couldn’t have been handled any better. The quality, the service, and especially the attitude of Lauren and Jay were outstanding. Thank you both for the amazing customer service. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in town!

I was in Blowing Rock and was getting hungry after a long day. All the main street restaurants were busy, as it was Saturday afternoon and a beautiful day. I was craving a steak. After driving around and finding no place to park, I started to drive home. I saw Outback and pulled in. Huge parking lot, I got seated and served immediately. I had the Prime Rib. Absolutely delicious. The waitress chuckled at how fast I ate my dinner and I normally take my time to savor my meals. I would highly recommend this Outback location.
Lambros B — Google review
We arrived early and we were just wanting to spend some family time together. The waitress didn’t seem to really want to be at work. We ordered coconut shrimp…they brought us some tiny shrimp with hardly any breading, forgot our sauce, and forgot my wife’s spoon for our soup. When I asked about the size of the shrimp, the sauce, and my wife’s spoon…the waitress returned saying that the manager said that is the way they’ve always been. Still no spoon?! Clueless! Now, if you’re like me you are generally good hearted and can put up with a lot of disappointments with restaurants these days. That being said, “Who wants to pay a premium for large coconut shrimp only to get tiny shrimp, no sauce, no utensils, and an argumentative waitress that seems clueless about service?! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO TO TEXAS ROAD HOUSE INSTEAD. You’ll get twice as much, excellent service, and feel good about leaving a tip.
Rocky S — Google review
Food was good. Service was good too but it was very slow inside. Didn't like that servers kept waling past a piece of food on the floor and only walking around it and not coming pack to clean it up. That a fall hazard for customers. Finally after 30 minutes my husband used a napkin to clean it up.
Anne D — Google review
Great Experience at Outback! The staff was friendly, courteous, and professional. Our waitress, especially, was knowledgeable and genuinely pleasant! We did have to wait to be seated. We waited around 25 minutes. We were sent a text message when our table was ready. The food was as expected from Outback, good quality 👌 We ordered: 1. Strawberry Salad 🥗 Wild arugula, crisp romaine lettuce, fresh strawberries, cinnamon pecans and goat cheese crumbles, tossed in a raspberry vinaigrette. This was SO GOOD! The Strawberries, pecans and cheese make this salad a home run! 2. Loaded Baked Potato 🥔 -Hot and delicious -perhaps a little too much sea salt on the outside 3. Filet Shrimp on the Barbie w/broccoli and sweet potato. The broccoli was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The shrimp had a peppery seasoning. The filet had a few tough pieces, however it was ordered as medium cooked. Great atmosphere! Definitely recommend!

That atmosphere was nice and the service was good, but the food was mediocre at best, even as far as complimentary breakfasts typically go. I would gladly have to get my food myself if it meant it was better quality. But then again, I guess the whole point of staying at this hotel was for the atmosphere and not the quality of the accommodations.

Not a great experience this weekend. Despite wait staff friendly, service was terrible. This restaurant needs a floor manager. Breakfast was good, but long wait, no coffee refills unless asked. My waiter disappeared in the back. Other wait staff walked right by with us refilling their tables, but ignored our empty cups. Hash browns were burned both mornings. Evening service was pretty much the same lack of service. From the website I was assuming this was a fine dining instead I get better attention and food at a Denny's. I blame management.

The food was good, but the overall experience was lacking. We ate at 0900, and only half lights in the place were on. It was like eating in the dark, due to our table location. The milk was fresh and real with cruds in it. My nephew wasn't a fan. I enjoy strawberry jam. The staff said they were out due to they only come 2 in a pack, rest were grape. The staff wasnt really busing tables it seemed that day. Many sat with dirty plates and cups. Maybe they were under staffed. It did take a long time to get waited on and I'm pretty sure the waitress wanted to be somewhere else. Overall the good food didn't out way the atmosphere.

Visited with a party of eight people. Those of us that ordered a seafood related dish left satisfied (the teriyaki salmon was awesome) but those of us that ordered beef were extremely disappointed. The steak was full of gristle and tasted more like the grill than anything else. Calamari appetizer was also disappointing. There were 8 pieces of calamari on the plate, and for $8. We honestly thought that half had fallen off the plate on the way to our table. Food also took an extremely long time to arrive, and the restaurant was hardly full. The only redeeming part was the awkward stage area with sitting chairs that made for a GREAT group photo at the end of the meal. (Also, "à la mode" was misspelled on the dessert menu, followed by a handful of crazy caps.) Don't charge $30 for a steak and $8 for apple pie with ice cream and have spelling mistakes and grammatical inconsistencies on your menu.

I will try to find something positive about this Grill but can only say the waitress was nice (but not well trained). Party of 4 very few people in the restaurant. Every meal was over salted to the point it made it unpleasant. Cast Iron Cornbread - Very Dry Soup of the Moment -Chicken Noodle (over salted) Seared Beef Tips - Over Salted Creamy house-made vegetable risotto - Not eatable Local NC Trout* - Fair at best Grilled Flat Iron Steak - Over salted and sauce had aftertaste Go somewhere else, I warned you.

We really enjoy a cocktail and some piano tunes by Charlie Ellis in the lobby. Feels like we’re transported back 100 yrs to some Hollywood age of elegance. A relaxing way to spend an evening with spouse & close friends when we want a break from touristy Blowing Rock and college-town Boone vibe

Surprisingly GREAT food, and the Bartenders work hard to see you are taken care of. Honestly, if you want a great drink, great food, and genuine good folks among a historic setting, you can't go wrong here.

Coffee shop
Located on Main Street in the picturesque town of Blowing Rock, North Carolina, Bald Guy Brew offers a charming and sustainable experience for tea enthusiasts. The delightful aroma of freshly roasted USDA Organic Coffees fills the inviting space, creating a promising atmosphere for an afternoon tea. With knowledgeable staff and on-site coffee bean roasting at its headquarters in Boone, this cozy haven impresses with its rotating seasonal coffee menu.
As a coffee professional, I have high standards for good hospitality and coffee. Visiting Blowing Rock, I happened upon this little cafe and was blown away. The woman who took care of us was incredibly warm and her suggestion to get the maple sage latte was a 10/10! She made it in a cappuccino for me and added whipped cream since I wanted a cozy drink. The espresso was dialed well, the espresso was steamed perfectly and it was overall a memorable experience. Makes me excited to get back to the coffee shop I manage and set higher standards for our hospitality- thank you so much! ☺️

Very friendly staff and great prices. The coffee and hot chocolate were delicious. Plenty of seating inside and outside (at least during the off season). Great place to pop in if you're exploring downtown or before you hit the hiking trails.

Coffee Shop No. 493 Bald Guy Brew Blowing Rock, NC April 9, 2025 I was instantly drawn to this shop because of their name. Bald Guy Brew! The logo might be one of my favorites of all the coffee shops I have visited. Sadly, my barista had hair 😉and there were no stickers. Not only do I enjoy cortados, but I have a thing for stickers from coffee shops. I should use that hashtag. #coffeeshopstickers I can’t be the only 80’s baby who has a thing for stickers from coffee shops. The setting of the Bald Guy Brew is picturesque. It sits at the end of a busy street in a little mountain village. Chairs and tables are set up outside. We actually soaked in some sun before I walked in and bought a cortado. The shop was aesthetically pleasing with different colors of wood, black borders and accents, and plenty of natural light. My gaze was immediately drawn toward one of the most beautiful Kyoto-style slow drip coffee tower I’ve ever seen. The live edge of the tower was stunning and it hung majestically on the wall. I couldn’t help but stand there and admire it for a bit. The atmosphere was relaxing and peaceful. I could have sat there all day in the coffee shop. The cortado’s description on the menu, “A ‘cortado’ is a serving of espresso that is cut with an equal part, or slightly more, of warm milk,” made me hesitate. I was worried it gave the barista freedom to turn my cortado into a flat white; which happens often. But I noticed the word “cut” in the description so I went ahead and ordered the cortado (I know…having coffee drama or problems is a tough life). The cortado was delicious served at a perfect temperature with a good ratio of milk to espresso. Enjoying life one cortado at a time!

We dropped by here and got two iced lattes. Unlike most coffee shops, their coffee isn’t overpowered by syrup. Both were truly delicious. Staff is friendly, and the drinks came out quickly. This place is also very well designed and a nice spot to relax for a few 👍🏼

While visiting Blowing Rock, we were looking for a local coffee shop to visit. We ended up going to Bald Guy Brew and we were pleased. The place is very nice inside and everyone was very nice. We went with the Golden Hour Latte and it was good. Definitely would visit again!

A beautiful little shop in the heart of downtown Blowing Rock. Lovely place and we experienced quick service. We were welcomed and questions answered quickly and efficiently. Right outside the door there is a qr code where you can download their menu. The shop is decorated nicely. They have a bar where you can doctor your coffee. I just got a cup of their drip coffee and it was pretty good.
April W — Google review
Cute little coffee shop. Loved the dark drip coffee and the barista was spot-on describing the flavor - love going to coffee shops that really know coffee. I also tried the blueberry scone and it wasn't my favorite - it appeared homemade (bonus for that), but the blueberries were too wet and fought the dryness of the scone. Bottom line: I'll definitely be back to also try the espresso and more pastries :-) but the drip coffee was enough to put Bald Guy Brew on my go-to list.

Stopped in to grab some coffee while visiting Blowing Rock from Delaware. Great little coffee shop! We both ordered lattes to go. As mentioned in some other reviews, they are a little on the slow side but they make quality stuff. We both really enjoyed our lattes and would return.

Annie Cannon Gardens is a serene and easily accessible trail located just a few blocks from downtown. The trail offers picturesque views of Glen Burney Falls or Glen Marie Falls, depending on the route taken. It starts in Annie Cannon Gardens and leads hikers through cleanouts and a pump station. The trailhead is conveniently located near Mayview Lake and Annie Cannon Park, providing easy public access. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful walk surrounded by nature, away from the hustle and bustle of downtown.
We absolutely loved this trail! It was a little more steep than we expected but the reward at the bottom was amazing!! The beginning of the trail is all downhill, but the falls were absolutely beautiful! The trail back is basically all up hill so be prepared for that, but we took our time and enjoyed nature along the way there and back. It was a total of about 3 miles and we took about 2 hours to complete. It can be done much faster, but we were in no hurry.

This is a beautiful trail just a block off Main St. We stayed at the Hemlock Inn and walked the trail early morning in November to do some fall photography, when temperatures were cooler - ideal for hiking. What a little gem! The Rhododendron-lined trail follows the creek that drops significantly in places, creating cascading waterfalls along the way. Just remember that when you get to the bottom of the trail you need to hike back up! Great morning workout. I’ll be back in the spring!

Guests can enjoy a complimentary breakfast that exceeds expectations. With rates starting at $134.99, this upscale yet affordable retreat provides tranquility and comfort with various amenities.
I recently stayed at the Meadowbrook Inn, and I have to take a moment to recognize the incredible service provided by Mia. From the moment we checked in, Mia went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and stress-free. She was warm, professional, and incredibly accommodating—nothing ever felt like too much to ask. Whether it was helping us with ensuring a pack and play was in the room for our infant or simply greeting us each day with a genuine smile, Mia’s kindness and attention to detail truly stood out. She made us feel like valued guests, not just room numbers. Mia is a true asset to the hotel, and her dedication to excellent hospitality made a lasting impression on us. Thanks to her, our stay was not just enjoyable—it was exceptional. We’ll definitely be back, and we hope to see Mia again!

Oh!! The Meadowbrook!! It’s our favorite place in Blowing Rock to stay!! When we took to the Blue Ridge Parkway for our anniversary, Blowing Rock was home base, even though we live just an hour down the mountain from it. We found it last year, on our way through the final stretch of our trip and this year, we returned to make this spot OUR spot. The continental breakfast of fresh fruits, apple bakes, and an assortment of goodies made our mornings prior to take off a breeze. The in-suite pool was a great way to relax after a long day, in privacy! There was something quite magical about swimming on a whim late at night or early morning, without prying eyes around. The room itself - absolutely stunning! It had a small kitchen, living room with fireplace, a veranda with views of Blowing Rock, a separate bedroom with a massive king sized bed, and huge bathroom with a jetted bath. While we were out and about the majority of our time on vacation, this hotel’s presence had one heck of a way of welcoming us back. It felt like home. And a home we will more than likely return to as the years tuck on. When you find a good thing, every thing else is measured up to it and it just falls short. That’s exactly what this place is; Home - Away from home!
Times L — Google review
We had not stayed at the Meadowbrook for 15 years. The rooms were fresh and the service was outstanding. What nice front desk staff! The pool was exactly as freezing as I remember. It's pristine and I can see why it stays that way because it's absolutely too cold to swim. The breakfast is not worth it but they do have complimentary coffee in the lobby and there are plenty of places to eat in the area.
Shalom C — Google review
Lots of potential but just not enough in estment into the property. There are good parts and you will be fine staying here. This is for the Inn... The mold and musty smell has to be delt with. Given the age of the building, I'm sure this will be an investment. But this hotel could be incredible given it's location. The Internet wifi is no good. And Blowing Rock has awful cell coverage. So you really need wifi. It may not be the actual pipe to the internet, it could be the wifi access points and RF issue. Hirer someone and get it fixed. Wifi dropouts and slow download/upload speeds. Makes it difficult to use Google maps to find restaurants, etc. The mattress is way too hard. I did ask to move rooms because of it and they were very accommodating, so that was great service. I asked about getting an updated room and they said that all rooms have been updated. I was told the mattress were replaced 2 years ago (2023). I happen to see a date on the mattress the next morning because the fitted sheet came off. Picture is attached... They were off by 3 years. Breakfast is not that great. It's easy to go somewhere else with the awesome location. The place just needs more investment. It could be great!

Meadowbrook Inn is a well-maintained hotel close to everything downtown on the parkway. The Staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a full buffet of hot and cold food. And, there are plenty of places like the Toastery that are nearby if you want a personal breakfast before taking in the breathtaking scenery. And, dinner options close by too. We enjoyed our Suite which gave us plenty of room to enjoy our 3-day visit without feeling cramped. The room came with a small refrigerator and microwave, and hotel amenities were nice and added to our relaxing visit. Thank you for making this an enjoyable trip despite the on and off rain.
Richard W — Google review
The Meadowbrook Inn is an interesting thing. It was apparently built some time ago and that shows. Everything is a little shabby and weirdly put together. We stayed in a suite for a wedding and the rooms, while spacious, had so many doors it was hard to find your way around. Lighting was TERRIBLE! The tub faucet leaked and the furniture was so uncomfortable. The breakfast was quite good. The public spaces were very institutional and a bit shabby. It didn't help that the elevator went out and we were on the 3rd floor! The Inn is an easy 10 minute walk to the heart of downtown Blowing Rock.
Cathryne W — Google review
We had a good weekend visit. We found many pluses, including the staff (Zoe was especially helpful at the front desk), a good room with a very good shower, a location that was very central to the main business district, plentiful off street parking, tasty cookies in the afternoon in the lobby, and a nice breakfast that was included in the price. Some suggestions include the following. The towels are very scratchy. It would be nice to have softer ones. It would be nice if they separated their garbage at breakfast into recyclables. They use paper plates, and those could be recycled. All in all, we found our stay pleasant and would recommend this as a place to stay for others.
Ron K — Google review
The location is marvelous, it's right in the middle of everything but feels more like being out in the country, which is so nice. At first it seems so pretty and luxurious, but the longer you're there the more that you realize is wrong with the building. It's very old, which could be really great, if it were well-maintained, but it's not. They seem to, sadly, be letting it fall apart and there's a lot of work that needs to be done. Our room didn't have a microwave, so we had to go down to the lobby to use that one, which was highly inconvenient. There was also a door in our room to connect to the room next door, with strangers, so that was a bit unsettling. There were ducks outside, near a pond, that you could feed with a complimentary pouch of food for them. The breakfast area was nice, with places to sit inside or outside. But they had the audacity to put a tip jar out at the "free breakfast", which is so extremely tacky and unprofessional. The food was rather disappointing as well, because of the lack of flavor/taste, just so bland. We visited September 2024.

They also source fresh produce from local farms. Customers have praised the delicious breakfast biscuits with fresh eggs and bacon as well as the wide selection of take-and-bake items perfect for hosting parties or family gatherings.
Got the absolute PLEASURE of checking this place out for the first time today! My friend and I just drove around and noticed this absolute banger of a menu filled with nerdstalgia and affordable food! I ended up with “The Thor” pizza and my friend “The Binding of Isaac” Guys if you’re visiting the area pass up on the Temptation of Mellow Mushroom (which is great) and give Myer’s Fabeled Pizza a shot. The pizza sauce has a really nice flavor too it that isn’t pasty or overly sweet legit best sauce I’ve had. The pizza crust is firm and has a nice crust that supports the pizza’s topping. The staff was incredible and friendly, the atmosphere is so quaint and has really cute artwork throughout, even the bathroom was clean and presented well. 10/10

This place has awesome pizza. The atmosphere is really chill too. The ceiling looks like the sky. I highly recommend you try the Mos Eisley pizza with the hot honey. It was the best pizza I’ve ever had. We dined in and the pizza was done very quickly and delivered to our table. Staff was nice. Prices were very fair for what you get. I prefer this pizza over Mellow Mushroom any day.

Saw the reviews and the themed pizza on the menu and decided to stop by. The atmosphere was fun. Lots of locals so you know it’s a good place. The red sauce is sweet, so if you aren’t a sweet sauce fan try the white. I had the honey dukes- red sauce with pepperoni and sausage with hot honey. My niece had the Beetlejuice which was a white with chicken, green pepper, chili oil. Both were good. We also bought some items from the frozen food area. The pot pie was amazing and the berry cathead biscuits were huge and delicious!

Strange set-up for a restaurant if your dining-in (set-up more for when Covid restrictions were in place). Get your own plates, silverware, condiments, drinks, etc when we were dining-in. You order at the front and pay initially when you come in. They didn't come around and ask how things were, etc. Loved the Bruno Pizza (2 types of pepperoni with a sweet sauce and thin crust) and the takeout container salad ($11) was very good. Late afternoon so it was not busy. Recommend take-out pizza but not dining-in.
Tami S — Google review
We ordered a pizza through their website and then enjoyed shopping the store when we picked it up. Added a Caesar salad and a banana pudding cup from their offerings in the store. Neat little place with a few tables. The salad was very fresh and crisp and the banana pudding was very good. The pizza was devine. Got the Persona, one of their white base pizzas and loved it.
Vikki M — Google review
The Detroit style pizza is a 5 star pizza experience and the location and staff were top notch. The NY style pizzas were a 3 star rating. I grew up in NY so this was nothing like NY pizza. It may be okay for the surrounding area. I would recommend the Detroit. They also have a very impressive take out ready to go section.

The food is great and the recent renovations really lean into the whole literary fable vibe. Awesome local spot for a quick lunch or some takeout

If you are in Blowing Rock Fabled Pizza & Myers Kitchen is a must! The pizza is amazing - great thin crust, delicious sauce, and SO many different and unique toppings - there's something for everyone. There is seating inside and out. They also have great to-go foods (fresh and frozen). Our top favorites are Burt's marinara, blackened chicken pasta (unbelievable sauce), and the 100 acres salad (fantastic balsamic dressing). And make sure you get one (or a bunch) of the assorted goodies - I highly recommend the key lime pie and lemon bars. Scrumptious! Go to Fabled Pizza. You wont be disappointed!

Nestled on the south side of Memorial Park, the Blowing Rock 1888 Museum is a charming little gem that offers visitors a glimpse into the rich history of Main Street. Housed in a quaint cottage dating back to 1888, which once served as a two-room hotel, this museum showcases an evolving photographic timeline curated by the Blowing Rock Historical Society. Every five years, new images are added to illustrate how this picturesque mountain town has transformed over time.
8/20/2024: Love the historical areas of small towns especially the mountain towns in NC. So this building is actually the only building remaining from the first hotel in Blowing Rock, called Watauga. We have something similar in Wendell, NC. Small towns such as Blowing Rock and Wendell are just two across the state where local (and small) historical society's are saving remnants of the past to keep the story of the town alive for the future. It's right on Main St on the edge of a beautiful park. The entire town area is walkable - just park and have fun.
