Restaurant
Located on the fourth floor, Bor Pen Yang Restaurant 2nd offers a glimpse into the everyday life of Vientiane. While the city may not be known for its vibrant nightlife, there are still some great options to explore. Future Nightclub is one such option for those looking to enjoy the party scene. Additionally, Kong View restaurant provides a serene setting by the Mekong River, offering a perfect place to unwind after a long day.
Great local find after arriving past 9PM in Vientiane. Cheap & delicious food. Ask for an English menu. Clean and comfortable place, polite young waiter. The stir fried dishes work well with white rice. Yes it is true that music here is loud and locals drink here, so take note if you’re sensitive. Overall highly recommended, thanks for opening up till late!

Great food. They cater very well to non-local visitors. Plenty of chilli to saviour.

Very clean and well kept premises where small lively groups meet. Food was nice and value-priced. Staff were polite. The menu is in Lao and an English version is provided. They are open late, till 11:30 pm.

The food and prices were good. The service was unfriendly though and the restaurant looked closed from the outside at first which was a bit confusing.

Nice place! Open late for the area and they have a decent selection of good quality Lao dishes. Been a couple of times and I will keep coming back and update as needed. Come there after sundown to enjoy the joyful boisterous nature of the locals for the best experience or drop by for a good lunch.

Noodle shop
When exploring the culinary delights of Laos, one cannot miss the exquisite Khao Piak That Dam. This comforting noodle soup features chewy rice noodles that resemble Udon but are made from a delightful blend of rice and tapioca. The dish is typically prepared with tender pork or chicken, infused with aromatic herbs like lemongrass and galangal, along with shallots and garlic for depth of flavor.
If you love to eat like a local, this very popular noodle shop should be on your list. A Lao friend brought me here for lunch -- it was crowded, but the owners and customers made space for us at a shared table. The restaurant serves Khao Piak -- a thick, chewy rice noodle soup -- with pork or chicken. The menu lists three bowl sizes (35-45k kip) along with freshly squeezed orange juice, passion fruit juice, pepsi, and water. There's a nice chili paste available if you want to make your soup spicy. It's nice, simple, but flavorful food. I had the Khao Piak with chicken and an orange juice -- the juice was great burst of flavor (much better than what you're getting at a store) and the soup was really filling. Just overall happy with the meal and experience. I'd definitely go back and also bring foodies along.

Asian fusion restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Vientiane, 3 Merchants Restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience with its perfectly balanced flavors and high-quality ingredients. The restaurant's fusion cuisine draws inspiration from the rich culinary traditions of Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. The charming ambiance and excellent service make it a must-visit when in town. With its original decor and first-class presentation, this restaurant is a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds.
I had a fantastic dining experience at 3 merchants restaurant. The food was delicious, with fresh ingredients and beautifully presented dishes. The service was top-notch—friendly and attentive staff made sure we were well taken care of. The cozy atmosphere added to the charm, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. Highly recommended! Special thanks to Lynda for the service!
Melissa S — Google review
As the restaurant location I stay was just beside my hotel, 3 Merchant will be the best choice for my meal. Upon the recommendation in trip advisor, I straight away make a reservation directly at the website. As I reached the restaurant, I was greeted warmly at the counter, straight away they ushered to my seat which is a sofa with window view. Perfect for a solo diner like me. Before my official trip, I already make up my minds and straight away order their courses meal "The Nice" and a cocktail with no wine paring this time round. All the dishes was beautiful plated, with nice and clear presentation from Staff Yue. Every single dishes was explained clearly with every single ingredient on it. After every single dishes was complete, Yue will ask for feedback, how the tastes, is everything alright! Every single dishes make my expectations, mind blowing, especially the scallop, dumpling with coconut soup on below. My mind instantly went blank for a few seconds. Lastly my course ended with a sweet savory. Chef NIM personally came out do the final plating of the deserts. It really surprised me with a display of culinary skills! Thank you for the wonderful hospitality from the team of 3 Merchant!

This place is amazing! I love the decor of the restaurant that has a touch of the rustic look. The food is amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful especially Lynda who attended to us while we were there. She is attentive, friendly, polite and professional. The whole experience was excellent! It's located on the ground level of Crowned Plaza Vientiane. Highly recommend!

Absolutely the best spot in Vientiane for a fantastic meal! If you’re used to big-city prices, this will feel like a bargain for the quality you get. The service was excellent, and the food was full of flavor — every dish hit the mark. The setting is beautiful too, with tasteful decor and plenty of cozy seating. A special shoutout to Namfon, who provided outstanding service and great recommendations — and spoke excellent English! And I have to mention the butter wagon — yes, a butter wagon! Never seen that in any restaurant before. It’s both impressive and oddly charming — a brilliant touch that deserves its own round of applause. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Vientiane!

Quite hard to find. If you travel here to eat, this beautiful res is inside the Crowne Plaza and behind the reception desk. Best cuisine experience in Vientiane. The service and food quality were beyond my expectations. The price is also reasonable.

We had a delicious meal at 3 Merchants! The Khao Soi was the best! Must try. Best I’ve tasted. And the service was incredible. Miss Yuee was so attentive. We weren’t sure what to order and she explained everything to us in detail. She was so sweet, making sure throughout the meal that we were enjoying the food. Amazing service and delicious food. Must try this restaurant if you’re in Vientiane. It’s in the Crowne Plaza hotel so bonus if you’re staying there. Loved it!

Amazing! This small market has various kinds of delicious food, snacks, drinks, homemade dishes, vegs, fruits. The price is unbelievable cheap. 25.000LAK for 1kg of litchi. A big fold delicious bread filled with different stuff is just 20.000 LAK. I like here more than the city centre night food market.
Kye T — Google review
At night, my family visited the Night Market to eat various foods and fruits. It was so tasty and the price was also much cheaper than where I live. I had a chance to taste traditional food of Lao and it was awesome, a perfect food for a cool night.

Lao and local night food are here! With only one chanel shop style with two side stall that the chef are selling cooking / cooked food so it's easy for you to looking what you like to have for tonight dinner. Most of the menu are Lao food which seminary to Thai food and you could try most of the menu are tasty and consider cheapest a menu maybe starting from 5,000 LAK or 0.7$. Recommend nfor the grill pork and baby pig so yummy 👍 There's no public toilet but you may use the toilet at the Destiny coffee shop also parking inside is charged but if you lucky to have a space of parking side the road it's free 😁 #LetsGuide #LocalGuides #LocalGuidesConnect

So many stalls, so many smells! We ordered from two different stalls, and bought pad Thai, seen savanh (Lao beef jerky), and sai oua (Lao sausage). The market is less geared toward tourist, so there are less english speakers, but the prices were very reasonable and the vendors were helpful despite the language barrier. There are very few places to sit so we took our food across the street into Nong Sa Phang Lenh park

Pho restaurant
Restaurant
PhoZap has been a go-to spot for delicious pho since 1958, offering a variety of Vietnamese-inspired noodle dishes with fresh herbs and vegetables. Despite the hot and humid weather in Laos, there's never a bad time for their flavorful pho. The menu features small, medium, or large portions that are filling and reasonably priced. In addition to pho, they serve other Vietnamese dishes, fruit shakes, and local snacks.
The restaurant building was really beautiful. It gave me old town vibe. I love how they decorate the place. :) the food serve was very quick and the taste (i ordered pho) was the best pho i had in Lao :) i really want to go again. The price was reasonable. All in all, 5 out of 5

This is a well-known restaurant for pho - Vietnamese noodles. The restaurant is pretty big. You can choose to sit inside or outside. Compared to other local pho restaurants, the price is a bit high.

Good pho, so many local people drying the lunch time. Air-conditioned room and outdoor seating. Very fast service. Pho came in less than 2 minutes after ordered. Drink were too sweet, I should order for less sweet. This restaurant is more than 60 years old. Highly recommend here.

The restaurant is spacious so you are not eating in the crowded ply. The service is quick and kind. The staff doesn't speak English but they are willing to communicate and menu has English descriptions. Food is delicious and not overpriced.

Ive been in laos for a few days now so i dont know much. BUT what i do know is that the pho and the fried rice was gass 🔥🔥 the fried rice was so good that i had to order one more plate 😂😂. but the most shocking thing about this place for me was the price. 1.5$ for a plate of fried reice?!! crazy how the prices change depending on the location!!

Laotian restaurant
Asian restaurant
Lao Kitchen, located in Vientiane, offers a delightful experience of traditional Laotian cuisine. Situated near the waterfront, the restaurant provides a pleasant ambiance for diners to enjoy authentic dishes such as grilled Mekong fish, Pakse-style pork sausage, and bamboo shoot stew. Additionally, they serve delectable desserts like sticky rice with mango or banana and coconut milk. The menu also includes vegetarian options to cater to various preferences.
Big fan of the food here, specially the southern stew! We went for a cooking class on the day before and we were told that the food at lao kitchen was not as good as in our class. Definitely a bit different but still delicious.

Place is clean and service was fantastic. Set up cutlery and served water. As for taste wise, it was not fantastic but decent taste. Tourist spicy level, which is zero to low, may be requested in this restaurant.

Great options for Laotian food! It is a really fancy restaurant. Keep this in mind! Food definitely costs more than other places around but I loved it and thought it was worth every penny. Staff were super sweet
Hannah R — Google review
Good place to sample local food. All dishes we had were full of flavors and in great portions. We ate the Pork spring roll, the Red curry steamed rice and the Khong soup (a vegetable soup). I do recommend all the dishes we had. The prices were were good too.
Patricia S — Google review
Nice explanation about Lao Food on the menu. The price is a bit high for what you get, the "small" fried rice with chicken is 25.000 Kip, for that I get a pretty big plate somewhere else. I missed any kind of spice in my rice and didn't get any chili soy sauce like you usually do when ordering this dish. There were no sauce or spices on the table to add to my taste neither. The mango sticky rice was so-so, I wouldn't recommend it since the mango itself wasn't ripe and sour instead sweet. Staff was nice and fast. Place was clean and calm.
Kai A — Google review
So many vegan options there! They serve brown rice, tofu and lots of veggies. Their dishes are usually made out of oyster sauce. I just asked them to use soy sauce instead and they were happy to do so. The prices are really cheap and you‘ll get a great meal for that. I‘ve already been there several times!
EARTHLING — Google review
I ordered the fish cakes to start and the red curry for mains, both were good but just good. Maybe it was just my choices that didnt give the chef a chance to shine but what I ate was fairly average. Staff and setting were lovely.

Night market
Ban Anou Night Market is a must-visit spot in Vientiane, offering an array of street food and traditional local delicacies. The market opens every evening around 6 pm, featuring a variety of street snacks such as pho with hand-pulled noodles, grilled skewered meats, rice pancakes, and local beverages like coconut drinks and chai tea. In addition to the culinary delights, visitors can explore stalls selling clothing, accessories, and souvenirs.
This is a small street night market… caters for locals to have takeaway food….. very little seating area… it’s doesn’t cater for tourist market…. But saying that it’s well worth the effort to visit… very authentic street food…. You can always get some food and take and eat at the big night market down the street and have with a beer!
Elwyn F — Google review
Anou Night Market is a great spot for street food lovers, offering a wide variety of Lao dishes, with grilled meats and papaya salad being the standout choices. The prices are very reasonable, making it an excellent option for a casual meal. This slightly hidden gem is highly recommended for anyone looking to experience authentic Lao street food in a vibrant atmosphere.

Really small night market. Some food option, but not that many. We tried delicious sausage here though! Worth visiting if you have extra time.
Matheus B — Google review
Went there on a Friday night, not much to eat, mostly bbq skewers. A lot of smoke, full of locals some by foot some stopping by bike. If that’s the kind of food you like then go for it, it looks better than the other markets in town, but no prices are showed so you might get the tourist price …
Clémence A — Google review
Night market with plethora of options from basic noodles to seefood and insects to try. Highly recommend the backdoor atmosphere of this a little hidden market.
Janko K — Google review
Just a small collection of stalls that sell generally the same local food. You are better off going to Vientiane night market (the food one) nearby.
Janus K — Google review
Great price for clothes and other stuff. The best thing about this market is - you don't need to waste your time and efforts on bargaining. The prices are mostly fixed and are cheap. Made in China but are good. If you are a shopping girl you would love it.
Atishay J — Google review
This place is amazing! Here I ate best duck ever and I have been in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and now Laos. This duck was only 20.000kip (2.34$) and you get half of juicy, delicious, fingerlicious meat with crisp crunchy skin of duck. Skewers for 5.000kip (0.58$), sticky rice, sausages...they have everything. Lical food for čocal people. For me way better then Night Market next to Mekong river where typical tourists go. Btw. Ve sur to take some mosquito repelent, this is also their feeding area. If I could rate with 10, I would give 10!😍😋🇱🇦

If you're venturing into the culinary scene of Laos, a visit to the Thatluang Lao Noodles Restaurant is an absolute must. This eatery specializes in Khao Piak Sen, a delightful noodle broth that serves as perfect comfort food, especially on chilly days. Much like Vietnamese Pho, this dish features flat rice noodles served in a rich broth with generous portions of beef or chicken and topped with fresh herbs, bean sprouts, basil, chilies, and beans for added flavor.
Good taste for Advance Kao Piak. Very delicious! Highly recommended if you like to eat like a local!
Wasin K — Google review
Good local Laos food. Price also local. No ENG, no VIE. Foods: A little sweetened than normal but it’s okay. Much like southern Vietnamese foods. I also got the plate of rice with meat (don't really know the name) which is even more OK, but forgot to take the picture.
Cuong J — Google review
I found this noodle shop through TikTok - took a tuktuk from my hotel to the shop the next day to have khao piek for breakfast. Their main specialty is the pork khao piek ( with pork blood & knuckles ), which comes in 3 different sizes but I opted for the small one. It was delicious. The noodles were thick and chewy - which what I wanted, instead of the usual thinner noodles at other shops. I would consider this shop a “ hole in the wall “. It is a little bit further from Vientiane City Center ( 10 - 15 min) but I’m glad I tried it. Service was quick, fast, and friendly. Definitely recommend trying it!

Very nice local Lao thick noodle-like broth comes with generous servings of pork slices and pork blood. Every table comes with a big bowl of pork lard fried in fried chilli as garnishing. Come here for the food, not atmosphere.

10Hawker Chan Singaporean Chicken Rice

Asian restaurant
Hawker Chan Singaporean Chicken Rice is a renowned Michelin restaurant situated in Parkson Mall in Vientiane. Despite initial waiting times, it's now more accessible during lunch hours. The signature dish, half chicken in soy sauce, is priced at 190,000 kip and is praised for its delectable rice and flavorful sauce. While the portion size has increased, some find the chicken not hot enough and the sauce quantity insufficient.
Very fast service, great taste and clean restaurant.
Jan S — Google review
Clean, prices are fine. But rice and chicken were cold. With bones, fat and cold. Luckily I was hungry so I ate almost everything but it was damn cold as snow. There is no way to warm the food. The cashier (staff) said that they don’t have a microwave and they can’t warm it.
Юлия Т — Google review
Hawker Chan, the Michelin-starred street food from Singapore, has opened its first branch in the Parkson shopping center. Due to its fame, it can get quite crowded at times. I found the food overall to be average and not quite to my taste—oily and overly sweet. The ribs seemed reheated and lacked freshness, while the BBQ pork was a bit too sweet for my liking. However, the standout dish was the spicy tofu with green apple, which was a delightful surprise.
Kitsada S — Google review
A taste of SG in LA. Food tastes good and serving size adequate for its price. Ambiance typical of fastfood center. Missing is sterilizer for the utensils.
Huele S — Google review
Love the manager here do friendly. Feels you met him 10 years ago. Food tasty specially char siu and soy chicken. Veggies are good too.
A. G — Google review
The owner is so friendly and attentive. The food is delicious and the portions are brilliant. 59k for a meal which is well worth it for the amount of delicious food you get!

Very delicious. 10/10 recommend
Karoon J — Google review
The food is not that good to be a Michelin star. The chicken portion is too little. Won’t try it again

If you're on the hunt for a delightful culinary experience, look no further than Kindee Thai Noodle Soup. This dish is a comforting bowl of egg noodles swimming in a rich and flavorful broth, often accompanied by an array of toppings that elevate its taste. The soup is typically served with fresh herbs, zesty limes, crunchy bean sprouts, and spicy chilis to customize your meal just the way you like it.
Found this gem . It’s pretty hidden but worth it. I had the Thai boat noodles and it was fire. Taste just like the ones in Thailand 😁. Definitely going back for more and trying out the other noodle soup

Best place for northern Thai style Khao Soy in Vientiane. This place can be a little hard to find, but it's well worth the visit for people who are craving Thai style Khao Soy (Lao style Khao Soy is different, more like pho, whereas Thai-style is curried egg noodles.) Food is good, it's a nice simple noodle shop and a great stop for people who like these flavors. Will definitely eat here again.
