This place serves good food overall. And their service was very good, very attentive waiter and waitress. Enjoyed our meal there. We ordered set meal for 2. We enjoyed 梅菜扣肉 the most. Soup is warm and hearty. Pudding dessert paired really with the espresso shot.

A casual lunch short stay in Taichung surprisingly visited this mansion with history since 1929. Building used to belong to a wealth gent with 3 wives all under one roof, but different sections…. Now converted to authentic Tai Wan cuisine, love it! All dishes in small portion dishes abled us to sample many dishes all new to me except the succulent roast chicken, braised pork knuckles, both delicious, no wonder this place Michelin recommended! After lunch we stepped to next room the coffee lounge used to be the third wife’s quarter, tranquil & relaxing…. This place really worth visit if you visit Tai chung🥂🥂

High-quality Taiwanese food with a slightly modern take. The service was super friendly and took their time to explain the menu thoroughly. As a single-diner, it can be difficult to find good Chinese food options because you often need to dine in larger groups. However, here they have a great option to make any Main dish into a set meal (teishoku-style) that comes with seasonal side dishes, soup and a beverage. They also have some smaller dishes that add-on well to the set meal in terms of quantity and price in case you’re hungry or want to try a few more things. For me the real star was the service though, some of the best I’ve received in Taiwan.

Finally had the chance to visit this restaurant in the West District. I was served by a lovely waitress named 晴晴, who was friendly and attentive throughout my meal. The ingredients of the day were exceptionally fresh and perfectly suited to my Cantonese taste. I was very impressed by her thoughtful food recommendations and overall service. The dishes were delicious, and I even ended up ordering an extra dessert because everything was so enjoyable. Overall, I’m very happy with the dining experience and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for quality food and great service.

Fantastic: fried egg tofu. Tasted like a plate of phenomenal agedashi tofu. Good: Taiwanese sausage (I personally felt it was fantastic), Black garlic chicken soup, stir fry duck with pineapple Average: Stew egg, shrimp and seaweed. It was really quite bland. Overall, an enjoyable meal.

Shin Yuan was fabulous, staff was great service was impeccable and the food was perfect each dish had its own unique twist to it. Beef was flavourful, chicken taro such a wonderful blend and the soups was amazing

2 Dec 2024 - second stay, room 405 Room was way smaller, and toilet was so tiny that the shower area was right next to the basin which was right next to toilet bowl. If you turn on the shower, the whole bathroom will be wet, including toilet bowl. Water drainage not great. 29 nov 2024 - first stay, room 706 Great location. Plus points: staff are friendly and efficient; near night Market; 2-in-1 body wash and shampoo is better than most other hotels'; aircon is good; not expensive (NTD$1,500 for a standard king sized bedroom) Not so great: room is small and tight; no kettle; bathroom space quite small; lift is quite small; pillow way too soft and flat; wifi is slow; water pressure in shower is too low.

Rooms was good enough for small family，the location is perfect and very close to POI Feng Jia Night Market and the shops

Super convenient place to explore the night market. Stepping out and just a little walk and all the street food will greet you.

No issues here, just be aware where it is located. If you want to go to town then it is a bit far.

Before going to Taiwan, my family and I read the reviews and were really worried that it'll be an uncomfortable stay. However, when we entered the hotel, it wasn't as bad as what the reviews mentioned. The bed was comfy, deco was OK too. The space for a 4 pax room was quite squeezy, not much room space to put each of our luggage. 2 pax room was quite small as well. But it feels OK for a 1 night stay before moving to other places.

Rooms are rather small and bad positioning of funitures ,regardless family size or not, they are almost the same size but just extra bed. Lighting is pretty bad in the room and in the toilet. Beware of the toilet Floor, extremely slippy and dangerous. The air- condition is dripping and noisy . The room has no sound proof , so you can hear outside noise. Worse part they have nice lobby area at different floors but no control of noise from visitors. They allow uncivilize family talking out loud, laughing loud, screaming and shouting out of the lungs at the lobby even at 2300 or 0000 or later. Careful if you complain to the reception, they will let the family know your room number ,how dare the reception revealing customer's room number but no bearing the responsibility of hotel rules. Had an extremely no privacy bad experience, the family member actually seek revenge by calling my room number several times disturbing us at late night after 0000. If I am the boss I will fire the reception (FYI his duty date is on 17oct night, a guy) and please also establish strict hotel rules. This hotel is ridiculous poor service and very rundown. The rating is not even reliable. Stay away from this hotel. Horrible receptionist poor quality room and horrible amenitities. One last thing they allow outside cars to use their carpark. You will see the 2 lift super busy crowded for those who stay in the hotel.

very spacious room. very strong smell of moisture when opening the room door. was given the room at level 8, got a locked door was told is for Karaoke it made me felt very uneasy throughout the stay (unable to change as hotel was fully booked) no windows as well. i had difficulty with my basin drainage, informed guest service before leaving in the morning, when i returned, issue wasnt solved yet. Tried to call guest service via phone but no one picked up as well, had to go to lobby to seek for assistance. location was friendly, got bus options to various location. breakfast provided have to go to another location.

Price is okay from location point of view. Generally it is clean. But old style. Good tv local channels. Towels smell like bleach, but acceptable. Mostly self serve. Room has coffee packs and bottles of water.

Hotel location is unbeatable. Super accessible in the centre of Taichung and at an unbeatable value too. One complaint I would say is that although checkin is at 4pm on the dot, it does seem like the employees are instructed to not allow early check in. We arrived at the hotel around 2pm hoping for a chance to check in early which is usually allowed at most hotels unless they are still cleaning rooms. We are told by the hotel staff that the rooms are being cleaned and to wait a bit longer. At 3:45 I come back and I’m told the same thing. As soon as 4pm rolls around I walk up again and before I can even ask if any rooms are done being cleaned, I’m told I can self check in at the kiosk along with all of the other guests waiting in the lobby. I really doubt that in 15 minutes all the rooms were miraculously cleaned and ready to go. It almost seems as if they are instructed to not allow early check in, or simply do not care enough to go out of their way to explain to guests why. It would have been more transparent to simply say that they don’t allow early check in. My assumption was that if at 3:45 none of the rooms are done being cleaned, that I would have no chance of checking in at 4pm. A but misleading. The cleanliness of the room was also ok, on par with that of a 3 star hotel, for the price paid I have no complaints.

Worst checkout experience ever. Check in time is 4pm and checkout time is 11am without any consideration even for 1 minute early check in nor checkout later than 1 minute. 2 staff wearing specs on duty on 25 May 2025 during daytime, one male and one female should be terminated from the front desk service and exit hotel industry. Requested for late check out at 10.15am on that day but wasn’t granted even for 30 minutes with the reason one of my friends is a chronic disease patient under special treatment and we needed a bit of time to prepare ourselves. That guy wearing specs asked me to send my friend to the hospital instead of taking 30 minute extra in the room. Both of them asked us to pay NT300 for more 30 minutes late checkout. Sharp at 11am they called to urge for checkout. Every 10 minutes they called to the room whilst we ready and took a bit extra time to prepare for checkout. They even checked on the cctv to make sure we were out. They questioned my friend whom had a surgery but recovering to go to the hospital which I felt very insulting. They even asked for her ID card to make sure she’s the citizen and I was arguing with them that the 30 minute late checkout has nothing to do with taking her ID for verification. My friend was staying with us in the same hotel from 22-24 May whilst we stayed from 20-25 May for 2 bookings. The hotel is not worth for a long stay not just with the way they treated us for not granted that 30 minute of late checkout more so I even brought an extra booking for them since my friend made another new reservation in the same hotel just because to spend some quality times with us due to her sickness. She wasn’t able to return home and stayed the final evening with us with the approval from the night shift lady staff and they even provided extra blanket and bedsheet. These 2 fellars asked us to pay for the extra person on the last evening whilst it wasn’t informed by the night shift staff and the most stupid respond is they didn’t know the night shift granted us the approval for my friend whom checkout out from another booking stayed with us just for 1 evening. This has nothing to do with us with their miscommunication. They checked the cctv throughout to make sure we didn’t lie for what we explained. I’ve never felt so insulted by any hotel service like how GUIDE HOTEL Taichung ZiYou, 承携行旅 had done on 25 May 2025. Both with my friend whom is sick and my friend traveling with me. The AC never worked properly. During the summer, the lowest can go until 25 degC and upon complaining they just mentioned it is normal. This is a ridiculous and brainless answer. Middle of the night, the entire main switch panel fallen and cutoff the entire power of the room. Again complained in the next morning but no action was taken, we had to fix ourselves. The housekeeping is the worst ever. Please do not expect cleaning service, they only replenished the towels, tissues and beverage. We have to wash the cups, clean the toilet, basin and table. For the whole week we stayed, never changed nor tidied up the linen nor pillow case. I only appreciate the staff working night shift between 23-24 May 2025 who were accommodating keeping our dried food in the chiller as the minibar in the room is hotter and higher temperatures than the room temperature. Well, everything is normal to them when the minibar and the room were hot. You just need to accept. My visit to Taiwan was disastrous on our last day which ruined my entire experience. This is the third times and I won’t go Taiwan again because of the Taiwanese hospitality. Both of these hotel staff made a big mistakes in treating the guests. My Taiwanese friend felt so sorry with the situation and certainly ashamed with the hospitality we received on the day we departed from Taiwan.

My first visit to Taiwan and I will not be staying at this place again for the following reasons On arrival we could not check in until 4pm but on check out we had to vacate room by 11am No smart tv in the room unheard of in my travels Outside in the smoking area there were untold amount of cigarette butts which was tidied up when I mentioned this to the staff Taiwan is promoting itself in Australia but I am afraid they are falling we short

Everything was great. The price is reasonable, given the spaciousness of the room, cleanliness, and convenient location. However, one issue that upset me and my family was the behavior of the male receptionist with glasses. He had a bad temper and was rude while assisting us with the self-check-in process. At first, he didn’t even want to help when the machine malfunctioned. When we asked for assistance, he guided us in a scolding tone. Despite this, everything else about the stay was wonderful and pleasant.

Spacious family room, clean enough. Strangely uncomfortable mattresses. The location is opposite to a red light district area where many ladies of the night hang around. Nearby are some adult clubs …. It is not pleasant. The surrounding buildings also make for an unwelcoming environment… old and run down adjacent to the hotel. The main road location of the hotel is rather noisy to sleep next to, hence writing this review after midnight as I can’t sleep next to the traffic noise… The self check in is a novel idea but for tourists who have travelled some way to get to the hotel I prefer to be greeted by staff for an inviting check in rather than dealing with a slow machine. Staff was at hand if need check in help so might as well provide the full service check in to welcome guests? I’m happy to do self checkout, which makes more sense. Compared to other 4 to 5 star hotels I have been to, I think this hotel is more accurately a 3 to 3.5 star hotel. Finally, the cost of the room is slashed to about Aud50/night (last minute deal), whilst I paid over Aud 150/night booking in advance

Clean and value for money. Pretty spacious as I booked a family room. Got 2 queen sized bed and 2 bathroom. Parking is limited and you might have to parked opposite the sister hotel

This hotel fails to reach the value for its price. (I’m paying over 6500 NTD for my night). It’s far from a 5-star hotel as it indicates online. The facilities feel worn and cheap. The overall musky environment makes one feel physically uncomfortable. Spots and details of room are unkept, dusty and dirty. Hotel swimming pool is closed permanently, Good thing they have a big kid’s playroom to offer. At least the front desk staff was friendly.

Very happy about the room layout as we dislike noise (especially with 2 little kids) and they put the bathroom most close to the road and the bedroom is noise shielded by another door from the bathroom. Breakfast was nice varieties and staff were very friendly. Another puzzle is that in the night we can hear noise from other rooms, not sure it’s from upstairs or next door, luckily it went away as it got late.

Room is comfortable but all the hotel facilities are in another building which is not quite convenient, neither in the Dadun building nor the main building! The swimming pool is big but remember to have your own sandals! The only one disadvantage of the pool is that the step ladder is made up of rock / granite, no matter you are coming up from or going down into the pool, it hurts and extremely uncomfortable! It’s really a stupid design! The breakfast is normal, and there is only one coffee machine, queuing up for a century just for a cup of coffee! Besides, the food is normal, do not expect too much! The ventilation there is not good, full of oily cooking smell. How can a 5-star hotel manage like this?

first the pros: 1. the room is clean and spacious 2. lots of food selection for breakfast the cons: 1. the breakfast food quality is not 5-star worthy. more like 3 stars. 2. the staff in the gym were borderline rude. 3. there are no other window beside the ones right next to the bath tub. if you open the drapes there’s another building adjacent. there’s basically no way to get natural lighting without being utterly exposed. 3. the bed mattress offered very poor support. coupled with #4 the stay was far from comfortable. 4. there was a very bright red LED on the smoke detector that can’t be turned off or blocked which shone through the night. very inconsiderate design. this is definitely one of the worst ‘5-star’ hotels i’ve ever stayed.

Waste of money. Not clean at all, we found trash in our room when checking-in. So we are not sure if they really clean the room or not. After switching to another room, someone previously stayed at that room smoked, so we are forced to stay at a smelly room whole night with US165 night stay.

Good location but room is not as clean as in the picture. Quilt cover doesn’t match the quilt therefore not comfortable to sleep. Toilet paper cannot be thrown into the toilet otherwise it will be clogged.

Went on a family holiday and this hotel was booked by the tour guide. A family of three stayed in the room and there was a single bed and a king sized bed. Although room was decent, the air quality was really bad. Curtains were dusty and towels smelled funky. There was an oppressive feeling when I entered my room and the lights in my room flicked occasionally throughout the night. My sis who was in another room had difficulty breathing and her eyes swelled after entering her room. Not sure if it was due to the dust or the formaldehyde from the furnishing. The staff at the reception was really rude and condescending. Quite disappointing for a Taiwan establishment. Thankfully we only stayed for one night 😅🙏

Sharing my honest thoughts and feelings about my experience at this hotel. We stayed for 3 nights. 1st day - perfectly normal. 2nd day, around 9am - there was a motor sound that came buzzing from one of the walls. It was loud enough to cause a vibration on certain areas of the wall. It's not the music blasting at full volume kind of loud but if you're trying to sleep, and the room is silent, that kind of droning sound will drive you crazy. I told the front desk about it before heading out around noon. When we returned that night, the sound was gone. (This was around 10pm-ish) However, I still went to speak with the front desk just to make sure it won't happen again the next morning. But she(different staff, she was very polite) had no idea what I was referring to. I explained the whole situation again, and hoped I wouldn't have to hear that sound again in the morning. And yes, I didn't! Because it came back around 11:30pm the very same night. At that time, there were no staff on site, so I had call a number and explain the whole ordeal AGAIN. The gentleman who picked up was very helpful. Despite being around midnight, he came by and helped us change rooms. Day 3 - I went down to the 1st floor to get some hot water for formula milk. This was 8:30am. When trying to get back into my (new)room, the room card didn't work. Again, no staff at the front desk this early, so I was forced to ring the door bell, which meant to risk waking up my wife and baby from their sleep. Overall, TERRIBLE experience. Utilising a self check-in system is fine, but having no ground staff available when problem araises is an absolute nightmare. Especially, when the system is not self sustaining - room key cards won't open doors NB. Thank you again to the gentleman who came to help, but the situation would have been handled a whole lot better if a staff member came to me first and offered the option to change rooms while it was still early in the night.

Please avoid! Very unhygienic. When we came up to the room the table was so unclean and greasy to be exact, that we have to buy the wet tissue to clean it. White particles floating in the air from the vent. Please see the photo. Our throat were so uncomfortable that we felt we can’t really breathe properly. The towels are so old and don’t even have the same logo. We realized that we have booked one more room and would like to get a refund. The receptionist we encountered was very unhappy to help us. She insisted asking me for the receipt and guess what without the receipt, she can still get the work done. But I had to go up and down three times. Took forever to process. So now we just woke up in this hotel first morning and decided to book another accommodation. We actually booked 3 days but it is too uncomfortable to stay the whole course. Very good location tho. Please avoid!

Good location but the hotel amenities are quite dated. Had issues with 2 out of 3 rooms where the toilet wasn’t flushing when we checked in, room sudden loss of electricity, tv not working, aircon issues and the sound proofing is terrible overall. Only got ourselves to blame for not reading more reviews on the hotel but booking solely based on location and availability. Counter staff also have a cant be bothered attitude, frown and answer customer question loudly and rudely. Only saving grace is the short walk to Feng Jia night market. No pictures taken of the hotel as nothing worth to share.

16Dec23 (Saturday) 18 Dec 23 (Mon, check out) The room that we have taken was room 5008. The toilet wall was sort of frost glass. Unfortunately, the frosted effect cannot make it. If the person is naked, and he is inside the toilet, with the light on, people from outside the toilet can actually "see through" the naked guy.🤦🤦 Secondly, there is no place to "hook up" shower head, we feed back to the hotel staff, the hotel staff told us, the hotel was fully booked, no other room to replace. The hook (that is used for hook up the shower head was damage by previous occupant and the repair work o yet commence. In short, we have to live with it for 2 days (no compensation, take it or leave it). Thirdly , the bath towel was with holes. (See photos , we received on our day 2 stay) Limited power socket point (max 3,) There is one power point on the bed. - I wonder what a stupid idea to place a power point over there. There are:- 1)no door lock on the toilet glass door. Wonder why the operator did not include?. 2) no hooks in the toilet (for us to hang our clothing) 3) There is no main peephole and no door lock (with chain) My view:- Not sure how the 4 stars grading was given but personally, in my opinion, I think it should not be 4 stars, base on the above sharings, it should be lower. Disclaimer, my view is just for your reference.

Given torn towel, make up room without toiletries like tissue paper, toilet paper, limited pillow. Don't like the toilet coz is easily seems through from outside the room, not suitable for friend or even family. So naked scene R rated. No hanging place for clothing, can't lock the toilet door. Our last day, Internet was cut off straight away. Counter service people not so friendly

I had such a great experience at this hotel, thanks in large part to Tina at the front desk. She was warm, welcoming, and went out of her way to help me adjust my stay. Her patience, attentiveness, and professionalism made the whole process and stay effortless and stress-free. She was also incredibly helpful in answering all my questions and making sure I had everything I needed throughout my stay. My room was clean, spacious, and incredibly comfortable, with a modern yet cozy feel. The air conditioning kept the room nice and cool, the Wi-Fi was fast and the location was convenient — just a short walk to Taichung Train Station. I felt well taken care of and would absolutely stay here again.

I recently stayed at this hotel from Oct 2 to 5 with my friends in a room for four, and it was awesome! The room was big and nicely decorated, with clean and comfy beds. The staff were super friendly and always ready to help. And thanks to Tina, the receptionist. She's very helpful and always provided solutions. The location was great too, you can walk to 洪瑞珍 for sandwiches, and there are plenty of local eateries around. It’s also close to Taichung Station. We had a really good time and I’d definitely recommend it!

Everything was exceptional! From the moment we arrived, the staff was amazing especially Lily, who was incredibly hospitable and took great care of us from check-in until the time we left. She even asked if we would like some water to take with us when we were checking out. Thank you, Lily, for your wonderful hospitality! The room was very clean and spacious, and we slept so well.

We will never stay anywhere else in Taichung and will now look for Check Inns wherever we go in Taiwan. The room was lovely and clean, service impeccable and the location very walkable. Comfortable bed and a good nights sleep make all the difference when travelling.

The check-in was very easy and the stuff very friendly. After we went up to the room we saw some stains on the bed sheets but after we reported it to the stuff they changed the sheet immediately. All in all the room is good for the price.

I am staying in this hotel for 3 days 2 night on holiday trip. Receptionist Lily was very nice and friendly and answered a lot of my questions. Check-in was very seamless as well. There are even free snacks and drinks at welcome corner lvl 2.

This hotel is in a good location close to Taichung TRA station. The hotel concentrates on getting the basics right: cleanliness & comfort. Everything works as it should, but do not expect any extras, and be aware that many of the rooms are windowless.

Stay six nights here , the location is awesome and convenient to fengchia night market. It's very convenient to find food and supper in late nights. The room is clean and spacious, the staff are also very friendly. The breakfast also got appropriate variety.

Room was a little small, but good size for solo traveler. Noise can be a bit nuisance, can heard next room. Location is okay quite near to bus stop and to different food shops.

Quite good hotel. The gym is very very basic and the equipment (two treadmills, one elliptical, two bikes) is relatively low quality but relatively new and working. Don't recommend it if you want to workout a little.

Good hotel to stay but no swimming pool facility. Rest are ok. In dining hall items are limited. We have to self return the used utensils to the return area when finished.

In front of the main door,the underground is the holding ceremony for wedding on the spot for form location. Now you also can have the wedding here,where is the spot for. SienChuenYuen is the traditional perform place,like the BuDai Si,which is the sew that performs the main actor. Now it has already been using extent for weakness. On the back of,when it gets a big theme, but it doesn’t prefer to hiring. The hand artifacture is presenting the SienChuenYuan. FuSiengTang is the fortune teller spot. Everyone likes to ask for astrology with each and before wedding. It has been presenting for a long time. Presenting the city cluster in TaiChung City is closed.

The name Hommie is apt. This place feels exactly like home! I’ll definitely be booking this place again if I ever come back to Taichung. The rooms are clean, the service is good, the smell of the hotel is nice and they even have an area to hang or have meetings etc. Oh! There’s even a playroom at the basement.

Very clean room, in a bustling but more quiet neighborhood, centrally located. Great aesthetic, and lovely staff that speak English and Mandarin. I recommend ! Oh and the bathrooms are equipped with bidets! :)

I got to say this hotel exceeded my expectations from the photos that I saw. Everything was clean and comfortable. It was not too far from the city center, we mostly UBER to different places or took a bus. There was even free snacks and water. And we received such an amazing service from Angela! She is amazing, she recommended us to go different places and helped us to even plan the most convenient route. Love her!

Great location. Many foods and shopping within walking distance. The service of the staff was fantastic. We rented a big car and forgot to inform them. But they were nice to arrange a space for us to park. Even to call another vehicle to shift the car inside as we were driving Starex. The carpark can take 7 cars and the height limit was about 1.9m. Free drinks and biscuits at level 1. Kids can play at their rest area with toys. The only downside was the toilet was too small, I couldn't clean myself without hitting the wall. The WiFi was fine, but it does get disconnected sometimes. And sometimes, there will be a loud sound from outside lasting for minutes. I was staying at room 409. Maybe to avoid for light sleeper. The rooms were clean, and good for two. My friend is staying in room 406, two beds, bigger than my queen size, but the room size looks the same. Another staying in room 403, they have a chair inside.

Upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised by the reception staff's willingness to assist us in reserving a parking spot for our rather large car, as it couldn't fit in their basement parking lot. Their help in this regard was greatly appreciated. One downside of the room was the size of the toilet, which can be pretty small, and larger individuals might find themselves knocking against the shower zone. Additionally, there's no vanity sink top, but the hotel compensates for this by providing a storage cabinet for your toiletries, which is a thoughtful touch. We stayed for two nights with two different room types. The first night was a twin room with two singles and the second night was a room with a queen size bed. The room is clean and midsize. We liked the location of the hotel. Many restaurants and cafes close by. Water was nice and hot though! And toiletries smelled good. Hair dryer was very weak. Fridge, water, and kettle included!

Room and service was basic. Location is few blocks from bus, mrt and tour sites. Breakfast is no longer served in house. If breakfast is included, the breakfast pack can be picked up at the lobby from 7am consists of a breakfast sandwich ( pork or chicken), fries or 3 pcs small hotdogs and a cold drink.

I tested positive for Covid on my first day arriving at this hotel. Allison (the hotel manager) quickly arranged another room for me so I can separate from my family. While I was sick the older cleaning lady on my floor was really caring toward me, checking on me and making sure I have enough water. I wasn't expecting much from this hotel but the rooms are actually spacious and clean. Allison went above and beyond to cater to our needs. So many good eateries and shops (and massage place!) all within walking distance. We will be returning to this hotel whenever we're back in Taichung.
