Pizza restaurant
Pekara Kovaci kod Mahira is a legendary pizza joint in Sarajevo, known for its unique Bosnian twist on traditional pizzas. Despite being a bakery without seating, it's a must-visit spot for delicious Bosnian-style pizzas with authentic smoked ham, cheese, and flavorful sauces. While not as famous as other dining places in the city, this establishment offers mouthwatering family-sized pizzas at an affordable price.
Amazing pizza. They make the pizzas freshly in front of you. There is only one kimd of pizza but you can remove the ingredients if you dont like; there is dried meat, cheese, tomato sauce and mushrooms in it. On top they add kaymak.
Merve S — Google review
This bakery is pure Sarajevo magic. At Pekara Kovači kod Mahira, the pizza is a one-hit wonder: crispy crust, smoky dried meat, mushrooms, tomato sauce, and a glorious dollop of kaymak that ties it all together. The bread? Rustic, golden, and full of character—perfect for a hillside picnic or a snack on the go. But here’s the twist: there’s no seating. So if you’re eager to devour your pizza while it’s still piping hot, your best bet is to perch alongside the nearby cemetery wall. Sounds odd, but trust me—it’s oddly peaceful, with sweeping views and a quiet vibe that makes your meal feel almost sacred. Locals do it. Travelers do it. It’s practically a rite of passage. Come for the carbs, stay for the quirky charm. And maybe bring a napkin or two—the pizza’s generous and gloriously messy.
Laurence H — Google review
I'm staying around the corner from here & knew it had to be good judging from the constant queues (more often that not, locals). Before winging about only having one topping available, consider asking - "what would you recommend?" and appreciate that these guys have perfected their niche. They are a perfectly nice bunch of hardworking folks trying to keep up with the demand for their delicious pizzas! Attempting the language is a small gesture that goes a long way, so give that a crack. And lastly, since it is a takeaway, it's down to us customers to find somewhere to enjoy our food. TOP TIP: Try the yellow fort. It's literally a five min walk further up the hill. You'll be rewarded with the most spectacular view in Sarajevo AND still have a tasty pizza that's the perfect temp. Also leftovers the next day are still exceptional. All that for the equivalent of a fiver!? Wow. Vrolo Dobro!
Abbie T — Google review
I had a good pizza here. I'm Italian, so I'm a huge pizza lover. Nevertheless, I tried it and was pleasantly surprised. It was cheap and delicious. A great way to learn more about their culinary culture.
Antonio M — Google review
This pizzeria really has rude employees, as if they're giving away free pizza to people. They talk to customers in their own language and laugh with their coworkers. I think many people have experienced this. None of them understand English. The pizzas may be tasty, but you can eat here at the cost of being subjected to this treatment. I definitely don't recommend it. First of all, they need to learn to show respect to their customers.
Ahmet A — Google review
Famous pizza in Sarajevo - a bit up the hill! Nothing to choose from - just one type of pizza. You can eat it at the little square up the street - which is perfect for a sunset dinner. Small ones are good size - big ones for two.
Paul B — Google review
Amazing local variety of pizza can be enjoyed here. Imagine a very crispy and crusty pizza pie topped with kaymak and cured meat if you choose to. I opted for the meatless variety, which actually does not cost any less but probably should… Anyways, decent taste, and not just for its modest 10 KM price tag, but overall really good taste. Mushrooms are juicy but perhaps the tomato sauce could use an upgrade. No place to sit down so come prepared to eat by the cemetery. Which is a unique experience but not really comfortable for travellers who are on a rush.
Mustafa K — Google review
Takeaway pizza. One item menu and it’s delicious. We took it up to the yellow fortress and ate it watching the spectacular view. It was delicious.

Restaurant
The Singing Nettle is a modern Bosnian restaurant located just two minutes away from Sarajevo's Sacred Heart Cathedral. The menu features traditional Bosnian dishes with a modern twist, prominently featuring nettles in various dishes like nettle bread and juice. The restaurant offers a range of vegetarian and vegan options clearly labeled on the menu, using seasonal ingredients and indigenous plants to bring forgotten specialties of Bosnian cuisine to the forefront.
A wonderful place with very unusual and interesting food. Tradition infused with a modern style and healthy cuisine, with nettle pesto added to every dish. Very tasty and intriguing. A good selection of wines. The hostess is friendly and relaxed. It feels like being in a living room. A delightful experience.
Marina J — Google review
This restaurant takes “traditional” to a whole new level. Inventive use of ingredients that made every dish so special. I ordered 2 starters (too hard to choose), main and dessert, and in every dish I experienced a flavour new to me. I would go again tonight, but unfortunately for me, it’s closed on Sundays. Guess I need to visit Sarajevo again! Thanks for a lovely evening.
Steinthor M — Google review
Great place for vegans!! Enjoyed an amazing selection of sides, starters and main courses from their menu that clearly labels all vegetarian and vegan dishes. Cozy, small dining room and intimate setting, i think they had two people working: the waiter/floor manager and a woman in the back cooking the food. They handled a dining room that was steadily filling up as the night went on with grace and enthusiasm. This was such a cool and unique spot and for my fiancé and i, it was an amazingly unique opportunity to enjoy the intersection of traditional Bosnian food with delicious vegan options that fit our diet. I am very grateful to have stumbled upon it.
Justin — Google review
This is a traditional Bosnian restaurant with unexpected flavors mixed into every dish. Every bite was excellent with a lovely host/cook/server. We can highly recommend the beet salad, nettle bread, minced beef pillows on cinnamon sticks, the beef stew/goulash dish, even the chocolate and nettle dessert. We highly recommend a visit.
Linda L — Google review
.I had a full vegan course with uštipke (ill get the doube portion next time), sataraš and the nettle bread and a small beer. Whatever you do, you NEED to try the uštipke/ donuts. Seriously. The food was amazing and comforting, very well seasoned, and you can actually glimpse into the kitchen a bit. The atmosphere is incredible. You enter what feels like a private home, and have an opening in the ceiling up to the first floor. Flowers all around, pleasant lightning, simple and comfortable. The owner is a master of his art. During my visit he had a 10-head group and continuous inflow of gursts yet he managed everything. Yeah, on a very busy night you might wait a little bit, but he did talk to every customer to let them/me know he hasnt forgotten and it was clear as day how busy the restaurant was - deservedly so. Honeatly. Get the uštipke. You will thank me.

Hidden gem shared with us by our local guide. Staff were accommodating of our large group (13), which included dietary restrictions (vegetarian, gluten-free). Beautiful atmosphere, friendly and attentive service, and delicious food.
Melanie B — Google review
Everything about this restaurant is great. The food is delicious with complex and creative flavours yet based on authentic cuisine from this region. Every dish I tried was beyond delicious. The place is cozy and warm allowing you to feel as if eating at a relative’s house. The owners are very hard working and provide a great personalized service. My son loved playing with their little boy. All in all, I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting my hometown, and we will definitely come back!

Nestled atop a hill, the Yellow Fortress, or Zuta Tabija, is an 18th-century bastion that offers some of the most breathtaking views of Sarajevo and its surrounding mountains. This historic site has become a beloved destination for both locals and travelers seeking to witness stunning sunsets that bathe the city in golden hues.
The Yellow Fortress offers one of the most breathtaking panoramic views of Sarajevo. Perched on a hill just a short walk from the old town, it’s the perfect spot to take in the city’s skyline, especially during sunset. The climb is a bit steep but absolutely worth it. Whether you’re into photography, history, or just want a peaceful place to sit and reflect, this spot delivers. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Sarajevo.
Ammar A — Google review
Great spot to see Sarajevo, especially at sunset. It does get busy a couple of hours before, so best to go early if you want a good place to sit. The walk up from the old town is uphill and a bit of a workout, but the views make it worth it. There’s also a small cafe at the top.
Hallian — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Yellow Fortress is a must-visit in Sarajevo! The climb up is totally worth it for the breathtaking views over the whole city. At the top, you get a panoramic look across Sarajevo and it’s especially magical at sunset when the sky lights up behind the mountains. It can get busy (especially around sunset), but the atmosphere actually adds to the experience – locals and travellers all gathering to watch the city lights come on. The viewpoint is spacious enough that you can still find a good spot. If you’re visiting Sarajevo, make sure this is on your list. A peaceful yet lively place that captures the heart of the city – definitely one of the highlights of my trip!
Fawad F — Google review
The fortress provides breathtaking views of Sarajevo, especially captivating during sunset when the city is bathed in golden hues. The Yellow Fortress is a must-visit for those seeking a blend of history, culture, and natural beauty in Sarajevo. Its panoramic views and serene ambiance make it a favorite spot for tourists.
H A — Google review
Nice spot for a view of Sarajevo and a good place to watch the sunset. It gets busy an hour before sunset so best prepare for it. Good few spots to watch it too.
Sakina K — Google review
From this vantage point there are breathtaking views of the city of Sarajevo. It is a bit uphill to walk from the old town, but nice walk and in the end wonderful view.
Diana M — Google review
It's a hidden gem in Sarajevo, even though many people climb up there to enjoy the sunset — which is absolutely fantastic. The view of the city with the reddish horizon is both poetic and mesmerizing. No admission fee. Tip: The available tables and chairs are for paying customers only, so make sure to buy something if you’d like to sit and enjoy the view. Cash payments only.

Nice view of the sunset with a little coffee shop. The hill is a bit of a steep climb but not bad. Buy some jewelry from the little girl and her mom selling at the entry!

Noovi is a great restaurant with delicious food and impeccable service. The terrace is decked with plants and flowers, making it a lovely atmosphere to enjoy your meal. The pasta had too much butter in it, but the steak was amazing. It rivals some of the best restaurants in Sarajevo - definitely worth checking out!
Great pizza, salad and wine! Our server was friendly and attentive. Definitely plan to return.
Clarice H — Google review
At out bosna visit we found this place via reviews. The foods that i had here was over my expectation i just fall in love again with the italian food. Pizza was pretty thin and crusty. I can clearly say that the chef is really good and they use great ingredients. I advice this place to everyone.
Duygu K — Google review
The schnitzels we ordered were oiled and tasteless. The potatoes were burnt. The wine was good though. bathroom was dirty and Believe it or not, there was a hose on the floor behind my table (like laying in the floor as in a garage). The owner was rude and rushed us for the order and was mad if we ordered anything else, like another glass of wine. At a point during our order, I asked for her suggestions and she said she was busy and would come back after I decided... Not returning ever to this place.
Paulo S — Google review
Great food, lovely place, 10/10 service. Absolutely recommended if u visit Sarajevo.

Fantastic little spot where food is very tasty and the service is impeccable. Our waiter was friendly (had pretty bad experiences beforehand in Sarajevo), took the time to answer our questions about the wine and local area. The terrace is decked and surrounded by plants and flowers, loved the atmosphere.

The Italian restaurant Nostra Cucina is a great place to eat in Sarajevo. The food is always tasty and perfectly prepared, and the staff are friendly and cat-friendly. It's a great value for your money, and you're sure to enjoy your meal here.
Nostra Cucina was an extraordinary experience. The lovely waitress with her chic haircut attended to us with genuine warmth and attentiveness. The dishes were exquisite—rich, flavorful, and perfectly executed. We indulged in pasta, gnocchi, and pizza, all of which were hearty and exceptionally well-prepared. The local red wine was a highlight, boasting delightful aromas and leaving a harmonious finish on the palate. A must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic culinary delight!
Hakan K — Google review
The best Italian restaurant! The service is excellent. They can prepare a very good steak! My favourite meal is the sandwich with beef, the salmon one is very very good! Salmon steak with poppy seeds is my ultimate recommendation! Prices are affordable. Keep up the good work!
Tomijeve T — Google review
We had an amazing experience at this Italian restaurant. I ordered the chicken with mushrooms served on a baked potatoes, and it was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked, rich in flavor, and beautifully presented. The service was excellent as well; the staff was friendly. Highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic and satisfying Italian cuisine!
Kristijan N — Google review
I am not a gourmet, I have no attachment to food and its taste, but this restaurant decided to surprise me. For the first course, I took tomato soup, quite a filling and tasty course, a little sourness and a small amount of croutons. For the second course I took pasta with chicken and mushrooms under cream sauce. An absolutely magnificent dish, delicate cream sauce, soft chicken meat and delicious pasta, sprinkled with fresh microgreens on top (I can’t say exactly what plant). For dessert I took a dish from the chef. A fantastic combination: delicate sweet cream sauce, a whole menu of cold berries and dark biscuits. I advise absolutely everyone to try the food in this restaurant at least once!
Metal R — Google review
We did not know where to eat but felt like eating pasta. So, we consulted Gemini and Nostra Cucina came number 1 in the recommendations. We went ahead and the experience did not fail our expectations. Great food, very welcoming and accommodating staff too. We had mushroom soup for appetizer, carbonara and risotto with shrimps for our mains, and some choco lava and ice cream with mixed toppings -- everything we had made us smile and really satisfied. 👍
Jesse A — Google review
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant for those who adores Italian food. It’s those kind of places that has an Italian style of decoration but has really nothing much to do with the real Italian cuisine. The grilled veggies were good enough but the chicken was uneatable dry and tasteless. Some of the waiters have no so nice customer service skills.
Katja N — Google review
Very nice stuff and tasty food! The waiting time was fine, prices all affordable and big variety in the menu. I went there twice and both times enjoyed the meals and services as well!
Guram S — Google review
The Bosnian breakfast is excellent and fun if you're unused to the local cuisine. The staff were polite and attentive. Service seemed slow, but only until we were served our dishes! Only had breakfast, so we can't rate the other times of day. Saturday and Sunday Nostra Cucina opens at midday. The coffee was okay, nothing special!

If you're on the hunt for a delightful dining experience, look no further than Piccolo Mondo, a charming little Italian eatery tucked away just around the corner from your accommodation. This cozy spot not only serves up mouthwatering Italian dishes but also offers a taste of Bosnian cuisine, making it a unique culinary destination. Piccolo Mondo is particularly renowned for its extensive pizza menu, featuring an impressive array of toppings that allow you to customize your pie to perfection.

The pizzas at this place are really really good. They give you sos with it which is amazing. The sizes of the pizzas are big and you get what you payed for. Workers are also really nice. I really recommend this place
Nudžeina K — Google review
Since I normally prefer Neapolitan style pizzas, the thin crust pizzas of Piccolo Mondo really took me by surprise. Their pizza is not only tasty and crispy, but it is also served with three accompanying sauces. Especially the salsa like sauce and chili oil pair so well with their pizza, though I realized mixing all three sauces in every single bite is the way to go. It could be the best pizza place in Sarajevo, kudos!
Mustafa K — Google review
On September 25th around 7:30 PM, one of your employees behaved very rudely. I don’t know his name, but he is a slightly overweight middle-aged man. I ordered two takeaway meals for a total of 35 KM. When I paid with a 100 KM bill, he disrespectfully threw the change onto the table and slammed the coins down. My order was a risotto and a pizza. Instead of handling them properly, he placed the heavy risotto container on top of the pizza box. When I got home and opened it, the pizza was completely ruined. I want to point out that your restaurant provided the meals and I paid the required price of 35 KM, but this employee’s behavior was disgraceful, as if he had never received any basic training. At his age, he should at least know proper manners. The way he disrespected both the customer’s money and the food really lowers the reputation of this restaurant. I will avoid coming back to this restaurant in the future to prevent encountering such a person again. If he has health or psychological issues, he should be advised to see a doctor or take a rest, instead of mistreating paying customers

By far the best food I've had on my trip to Bosnia everything is so fresh and it's all beautifully seasoned. The lasagna is on par with my own mother's cooking which is honestly impressive I wish I could bring this beauty back to the UK after my visit and when I go home I'm going to miss this places amazing food

Generally Sarajevo offers great pizzerias. This place is one of them, and we ordered medium sized Alpini, Quattro Formaggi and Piccolo Mondo special. Alpini has lots of garlic and onion flavors, which I don’t like a lot in pizza, but I loved the other two. I definitely recommend!
M. S — Google review
As a well traveled foodie, I can confidently say this is the absolute best pizza I have ever had in Bosnia. If you like a real tasty thin crust pizza this is the place! Only other pizza I've ever had like this was in america. It's a typical bar style pizza super thin crispy crust toppings under the cheese great sauce , we got the spicy pizza and it was absolutely exceptional ! This is our new spot to visit whenever coming to Sarajevo!
Dzenis A — Google review
We had a delicious pizza. The shop's classic pizza is pretty good. We were glad we came. I have a couple of suggestions. Actually, this is a style. The dough is too crispy, perhaps the yeast content could be increased a bit. Second, the shop's classic pizza shouldn't have eggs. It's completely inappropriate. It ruins the flavor. Also, the staff is polite and attentive.

Trattoria Uno is a delightful little gem that you might stumble upon while exploring the city. This cozy Italian eatery boasts a warm atmosphere and attentive service, where staff are quick to offer assistance without waiting for requests. The menu features an enticing selection of pasta and pizza, with highlights like the incredible caprese salad made from fresh organic tomatoes. While the local wine may not be top-notch, it remains budget-friendly.
This was a nice place discovered by chance. Small, cozy, great atmosphere and a very good client service, proactive and they didn't expect for the client to ask, they offer immediately. The caprese salad was incredible, organic and tasty 🍅 tomatoes. The local wine not so good, but affordable.

This is my first time visiting this restaurant—nice selection of pasta and pizza. The service was totally fine! The pasta prices are reasonable considering the portion size. Cannelloni are expensive for the amount you get. Smoking is allowed inside, but only IQOS cigarettes, not regular ones.

Best place for Cevapi in Sarajevo. In the evening usually they are busy. Loved there food. Highly recommend.

Very tasty burek and pies. They are not too fatty, they are really tasty with ayran. We tried cheese and burek with meat, we don't know which is tastier. Fast service. Prices are affordable.

This is the most popular burek shop but I didn't like the minced meat burek. I think Turks have hyped this place because of a different kind of burek and a bit of popular culture. The filling was rich but the minced meat was not roasted so it was very heavy and raw. It's like “Çiğ Börek”, a Turkish delicacy, but the taste is more intense and heavy. I liked the one with cheese better, but in general, all the pastries are fat-free, which is a plus point. And the waiters are very kind.

I am Turkish from the Netherlands. This place has the best sirnica borek (cheese) I ever had and the best mantije. I tried multiple places and this one was the best of them in stari grad/old city Sarajevo
