The 50 best cheap eats in Flanders

It is my 3rd time visiting Brussels I think. And whenever I visit I would always drop by to have their massive sandwich with fries. It’s been years but the quality of their sandwiches never changes. Please bring your appetite if you visit. Their sandwiches are massive and you better eat them in pairs. I finished one myself and I think I was good for the whole afternoon. I tried their chili cheese also and it was great.

The fries are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and absolutely delicious. The portions are generous, and there are plenty of sauces to choose from. It’s a simple place but full of local charm, perfect for a quick and tasty bite.

I came here after hearing that it’s one of the oldest (if not the oldest) Belgium fries shops in Brussels. It very no frills, you order and grab a seat and enjoy or take it away. The line wasn’t too bad, waited maybe 10-15 minutes. I tried a small with one sauce and their pork and chicken sausage. The andalouse sauce was interesting but I didn’t find their fries much different than what I’ve had in the states. Very fast food-ish, a little greasy and mildly salted. Nothing to write home about and probably not something I’ll need to have more than once. It’s not bad by any means, I’ll eat it any day but it’s not something you can’t get anywhere. Some of the other fries place I’ve tried in the city were much more interesting. The guys there were very friendly and they push out orders really fast.

There was a queue as I went in the afternoon but the team there were fast in serving orders. Their fries lived up to my expectations. Proper Belgian style. Other items were also good. Chicken Wings are little salty to my taste. Probably you don't come here to have wings.

I’ve tried many fries across different countries, but nothing compares to this one. Even when I find other “Belgian fries” elsewhere, somehow they just miss that magic. Maybe it’s the oil they use, or maybe it’s the atmosphere — eating it fresh from Fritland’s counter in Brussels, surrounded by the city’s buzz, makes it taste even better. So yes, if you ever visit Brussels, don’t miss it. Because once you try Fritland, you’ll realize how hard it is to find that same taste again anywhere else. ❤️

It's very good frites that I ever tasted! Very crunchy outside but soft inside. My kids loved it! And the quantity is generous... We also tried the cheesy balls with melted cheese & jalapeno inside.... is da BOMB! Very delicious. If you want to eat for lunch, better come around 11.30 - 12.00, when there's still few people, because after 12.30... the queue was already very long. But worth to try!

Very yummy food. We got the Mitraillette with Andalouse sauce for 8€ during lunch time at around 15:00h and we waited around 15 minutes but it was so worth it. The staff was super nice and helpful and you can eat outside with the nice breeze.

I liked the duck with rice. Food is good although with such a diverse menu they don't get foreign dishes 100% (rice was not sticky), but it is eatable. The place is really cozy and nice.

The food was very nice and the seating area was cozy. The portions were on the bigger size, and it felt like good value for what you pay for. We booked a table and I would recommend doing it if you want to eat here as most the tables had a reservation. I took photos of the English menu.

Lovely bar/ indian restaurant right next to the train station of Brugges. The seating area is very cozy and nicely decorated. The hello to the queen cookie crumble with banana, nutella and vanilla ice cream was delicious and decently priced within the context and the portion, 10.90€. What was insane was that a 1L water bottle costs 10€! Super overpriced and incomprehensible. Despite that, this place is nice just avoid buying water from here, better drink a beer. Looking at the menu, in general the food also looks very pricey.

Beautiful location, with a nice outside area. Very diverse range of dishes, from curry to burgers. Nice service and decoration. Really enjoyed our lunch!

Service took very long, we had our main course after 1.5 hour of waiting. As true Asian I don’t recommend this restaurant , the noodle is not even close to Asian taste- heavy sauce from the bottel. Thai or Indonesian they are not authentic but adapted version ! And food and drinks are pricey side when relate to the food quality. There are many people who look like gypsy, I guess we are in a wrong place.

Food was super big servings and very delicious, it was a mix of Mediterranean food and Indian I guess. We ordered a pita, a pasta and a seafood soup, all highly recommendable. The chai masala was interesting to try. It costed 70 euros for all we ordered, ain’t cheap but may consider only ordering one main dish for two people next time.

Classic pub style comfort food, very good value for money as the dishes where huge. I had the veggie spaghetti which is served with loads of cheese on top which is grilled, quite unique and I liked it! Good service, it got a little cold in the conservatory but luckly we had layers on.

Fantastic bar that does homely meals at a more affordable price than some places in the city. Was a mix of tourists and locals alike when we were in. While the glasshouse at the front is lovely, we preferred to sit inside as it was a nice cosy atmosphere. Highly recommend the pork cheeks.

I had the spaghetti bolognese for lunch, a salad, and a La Chouffe beer (a great recommendation from the waitress). The food was delicious, great selection of beers, service was warm and friendly, and the setting was quiet and comfortable. I highly recommend L’ Estaminet if you want delicious Belgian Pub fare in a relaxed atmosphere.

We had tasty lunch at tge terrace. Nice ans kind staff, quite fast kitchen.

They don’t care to have tourists. Waiter was rude and unfriendly and was very clear that tourists were not welcome because it was a restaurant for the local so don’t bother going to that restaurant even if is refer by other local persons. We when on the 1/2 hour boat tour and Ms Sara , the captain, took pride in recommending that restaurant and it turn out to be a disappointment. I wish I had the name of the waiter to call him by his name. As a tourist it leave you either a bad taste even thought the experience in Bruges was great.

Tried this place as hoped to sample some good local cooking and we were not disappointed. We arrived relatively early for dinner and the old part was already full but there was room in the conservatory. It soon filled up! The menu is not huge but the portions are! We had pork cheeks and the fish pie. Both were excellent, the fish pie has plenty of fish and a delicious cheesy sauce. Interesting choice of beers too. Service not the fastest but OK considering it was so busy.

One of the best pastas I've ever had. I really loved the Bocca and four cheeses. The price is amazingly cheap compared to the quality and other restaurants in the area. I went there for two days continuously. You can dine there as well on a long nice table. The food is also ready in just minutes.

Stopped by for a waffle after reading the great reviews and was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, the waffle I received was undercooked — the inside was raw and doughy, missing that signature crisp exterior and airy interior that make a perfect waffle. Sadly, it wasn’t something I could eat. The aroma was promising though, so hopefully it was just an off day.

Delicious vegan ice cream - both sorbet and gelato options so I was so happy :) I got oreo and hazelnut

The Biscoff Special may be one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. We made a special trip to Bruges just to have it again. Highly recommend!

Some of the best ice cream we had during our travels. Flavours are fresh and natural. Must try the banana. Reasonably priced, starts at €2,50 for one scoop. Cups come with a small waffle inside. Staff were friendly and helpful, gave us tastes of flavours.

When I was still studying at the nearby high school, I came here every Friday evening to grab a nice, hot, fresh made waffle. To this day, this is in my opinion the best place to just grab a casual waffle while you're exploring the center of Bruges. It's very close to everything, and usually doesn't get *that* busy, but in the summer months it can get quite a bit of people.

We read through dozens of reviews trying to find a reasonably priced dinner option before discovering this gem. By Bruges standards, €13 for soup, salad, and an entree felt like a steal. The food was fresh and of high quality. Note that they only accept cash!

I quite enjoyed all aspects of the place. I did not have a reservation, didn't know was needed, but as I was by myself they let me have a small table. It felt more like eating in someone's dining room than a restaurant. I got a strong farm to table vibe. One daily special, veal in lemon cream sauce was excellent. The soup was warming and enjoyable on a chilly evening. Good value for your money given some of the touristic menus I saw on the beaten path.

A very overrated and expensive place. Is the place homely? Yes. But is it worth the money? Absolutely not. We were charged 6.50 euros for a bottle of tap still water! The portion sizes are small and taste is average at best. Avoid.

Lasagna was addicted. Will be spending the next couple of months in rehab trying to get over how good it was. Cheap for Bruges as well. Service was excellent. Can't recommend it enough!

Cosy place with a pleasant ambiance , menu or better take the plat du jour: soup to start and choice between two dishes, with choice for either baked potatoes or rice. Start with a good aperitive or a local beer, and you will have a good evening for good price.

Had a great meal at this lively, traditional brasserie. The absolute star of the show was the fish stew – it was incredibly rich, creamy, and packed with flavour. A must-try dish! The staff were also very friendly and attentive, which added to the great experience. While the beef stew was decent, the real highlight was definitely the fish. The sides we had, like the frites and mashed potatoes, were fine but nothing special. I would highly recommend coming here for the amazing fish stew and the bustling, classic beer hall atmosphere.

The food was very tasty and in a good portion. But it's sad I came for the mussel but it sold out 15 minutes before I ordered. Here they are famous about hare dish, but I was too scared to have it so I tried the beef instead with the same sauce. The wave was very tender, and the sauce was very fresh. The staff were very nice and helpful. They always smile and attentive.

Lovely restaurant to experience authentic Flemish cuisine! We tried the onion soup, stew, chicken, and salmon — everything was absolutely delicious. Although the place was packed, the staff managed to find us a table for four in under 10 minutes. It’s quite lively and a bit noisy, but you still have enough space to enjoy your meal comfortably. A charming, authentic spot in Brugge — highly recommended!

It was bustling in the mid to late afternoon, and outdoor seating was full, but we squeezed into a table indoors. We stopped in for a quick bite. We were able to get in relatively quickly and the service was prompt given how busy and crowded it was. The truffle mayo fries were incredible. We almost ordered more because my daughter practically inhaled them. The hot dog and beer were also quite as well. Great spot!

The best Flemish stew and mussels I had during my eight days in Belgium! Cambrinus also impressed with its huge beer selection and lively, cozy atmosphere. A must-visit in Bruges but be sure to book ahead, as it gets busy.

Visited here several times over the years. Always good traditional food. Greats beers. Service friendly and helpful. Booking essential these days as it is popular. Recommend the mussels and home cooked lasange, but it's all good.

Amazing food and amazing time. The location was great and we were sat outside because of the glorious weather in Bruges. The ribs were unbelievable, slow cooked and tasted incredible. The picture makes the ribs look dry but I can assure you they were very tasty. They were unlimited too which meant we then had the BBQ slow cooked ribs. Highly recommend this location.

Chilled dining and is exactly as described, ribs n beer. The slow cooked ribs were very good, nice smokey bbq sauce. These come as a full rack with a side of potato wedges. Wedges were OK. I couldn't finish a whole portion of ribs so no chance to try the others, still good value given the general cost in the city, but amazing value if you can manage subsequent half racks. Opted for a bottle of wine, not a huge selection as its about the beer. Nice buzz, not rushed in anyway.

What an absolute gem of a place. All you can eat ribs did not dissapoint. The wasabi and apple flavour was pure genius. The ribs were so well cooked that the meat fell off the bone. Highly recommend booking as it was busy.

I think it's one of the best restaurants in Bruges. The slow-cooked rib is unbelieveble! And no limit: all you can eat. Fantastic. The beer and chocolate sauce is very special. Delicious cheese croqette, friendly service, excellent local beers. Strongly recommended!

This restaurant is a must to eat at not just for the food but a thank you should also be said to the Manager and all his staff for making the evening so enjoyable. Its a well run place, with staff making their customers feel valued and well fed! Its good to see some old faces year after year, so obviously the staff are happy. Very easy to make a reservation online from England too.

Stumbled across this place and decided to come for dinner on the following evening! Very tasty and filling racks of ribs. Got the slow-cooked ribs with the beer and chocolate sauce to start. It was a great combination and couldn't miss out on that option while tourists in Belgium.

Maybe we came on an off day, but it was not as good as I had hoped. Food was overcooked (dry chicken). I like this type of cuisine, but this place did not do it justice. Maybe I should give it a second try or grab a bite from their Street Food location.

Oh my god guys DONT SKIP ON THE FRIES!! THEYRE SOOOO GOOD!! This place was really good, staff was nice. I fell in love with the fries haha. The halloumi wasn’t great to be honest but was ok, I was expecting better. It’s only takeaway which is a bit impractical but I sat on a bench in a park which was nice. My dish had pita bread but I’m gluten intolerant so they gave me the option to either have extra salad or extra fries so I got salad but I should have gotten fries because they were so good! Overall it was great.

Nice food and ambiance, but the staff seemed a bit impatient with us, possibly because we came in on the later side (still well before closing time). We were told we'd need to wait for a table, and the staff seemed a bit annoyed that we agreed to do so instead of just leaving. Other than that, we have recommended the food and found a decent spread of vegetarian options.

this place is amazing. I can not gove enough stars! we were in Brugges just for a day and didn't have reservations since we just discovered this restaurant while walking through town. kind staff bent over backwards for us to find a table in full restaurant. we just had to come back in an hour what was nost a problem, because we want to stroll the streets a little more. when we came back, we had to wait a little longer, maybe 20 min and they were sincerely apologizing for that. as a apology they served us drinks, and desserts at the end. what a great gesture! so, the food was really good and tasty, real greek food. every one of the dishes was perfect! Huge recomendation for this little mediterenian place in Brugges! Orange choko home made cake, light, sweet just enough, soft...mmmm...

Excellent Greek cuisine! Everything we had was amazing from the 2 appetizers of dolmades and tzatziki to the 3 entrees of pork souvlaki, moussaka and lamb chops. The ambiance was very cool too. I highly recommend this restaurant.

If this were a vegan restaurant, I'd give it 5 stars. They only have a couple of vegan dishes and several vegetarian ones. Great atmosphere, fantastic service and an absolutely lovely meal! We had the vegan souvlaki and it was delicious. It came with a garlic tzakiki sauce to die for, fabulous potatoes, rice pilaf and a salad. I highly recommend it. They also had vegan dolmades but I couldn't fit it all so we'll have to go back to try them. We were served an unexpected but wonderful dessert of marzipan in a light syrup that was so delicious I wanted to lick the plate. We also got plum wine at the end of our meal. I can't wait to return to lovely Bruges and The Olive Tree for another delicious meal.

Horrible service. We were waiting for our food almost 1.5 hours. Slow service, food was not good at all. They lied that they were preparing food on the spot for us. The mussaka arrived partially cold/frozen. Small portions. I do not understand how it is possible to have such high rate

The venue is basic with uncomfortably small tables. But buzzy due to many people in a confined space. The waiter brought out the wrong beer but quickly replaced it and no charge for the "error". Anyone can make a mistake but this one was quickly and efficiently resolved. However, our main mission was to try their much hyped fish and chips. The portions were a decent size made up mostly of chips. Sadly, these were pretty bland. The fish was fresh but not a lot of it, and it suffered from the same lack of flavour. We did try two different styles of the catch of the day, the classic and a rosemary thyme version. Neither of us liked the latter. The classic was OK, but we were expecting more than just OK. My partner, who was only recently introduced to the delight that is fish and chips, commented that these were the worst she'd ever eaten. Overall, a disappointing experience that failed to justify the Brussels tourist prices.

Fried fish is crispy and served in hot temperature. Potatoes 🥔 fries also feel home made. Lemonade with mint is also ok.

I’m very disappointed with the fish and chips. The potatoes and fish were clearly fried in old, burnt oil. The taste was awful, and the food was not edible at all. I expected much better quality. Honestly, this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had with fish and chips.

My review is based on my recent uber eats experience with this restaurant. I used to order a lot from the restaurant based in Ixelles. This time I ordered from this one in the city center because the menu was different and I wanted to order the squid. I already ate the squid a few years ago and it was fantastic. But today it was just terrible overall. Squid was different in shape, taste and quality. It was overcooked, probably been dipped a few times. Also, the lemon slice they gave us with the fish was ridiculous. I’ll just show you the slice, hilarious at first, but adding to the list of frustrations with today’s experience. I’ll probably try again in the main restaurant in Ixelles. But never again in city center, won’t recommend anyone.

It's very tasty and has good fish and chips. Calamari is also good, but black ink sauce is too sour for me. I highly recommend it.

Had lemon basil tempura with a Belgian beer. The fish was so fresh and tasted so good. Crispy inside and out. Thick cut potato fries were just tasty. Staff was friendly as she recommended some light beer to the beginner drinker like me. Highly recommended and worth every penny.

A restaurant at a crossroads. You place your order first, then sit at the tables, which are not comfortable. After that, the waiter brings your order. The food is somewhat good, but the prices are high. The bill was €65 for small portions. The smell of the grill is also annoying. I do not recommend it.

This place is great and always packed with people but the service is very quick! There are tables across the street but it is self service! We had the shrimp croquettes and oysters! Both were amazing and really flavourful! The atmosphere was great with people from all ages having fun and enjoying good food and drinks! I would definitely visit again!

Visited in Oct 2025. Lunch for two. You need to first order your food at the counter. Then go find your table (like in a food court). When your food is read, waiter will call/shout your name and bring the food over. We had fish soup, sea snails, grill sea bass, razor clam and a small white wine. The food tasted ok. Portion was a bit small. It was still a interesting dining experience

Seafood is my favorite meat. And this place got variety of seafood. I had fried calamaris, razor calms, fresh oysters plus a French bread with something that I forgot what it was, possibly shrimps. Razor calms are rare, I didn’t expect to see it on the menu, it was a must. 4 different dishes satisfied me in one time.

This place serves fresh sea foods and its delicious. The place gets really busy during the day. It is closed on Mondays. There is a big outdoor seating area and also a small indoor seating area.the food is freshly prepared and when it is ready they will get it to you by calling our your name.i had to wait for a while for my food and went to the preparation counter to pick it myself. The taste was good. Surely recommen this place.

Amazing experience! Even though the kitchen wasn’t fully open yet, the staff was super friendly and served me salmon tartare on fresh bread — easily one of the best raw salmon preparations I’ve ever had. It was so good I came back later the same day to try more. Warm service, great food — I’d definitely return next time I’m in Brussels

We were trying to find a place for eating mussels while vacationing in Ghent... This restaurant was a great surprise, close to the historic center, having a beautiful space, with just the slightly dim lighting to heighten the rest of the senses, and very friendly and careful staff. The food was absolutely fantastic, mussels were sublime, meat was cooked to the perfect point, and the duck with noodles was great as well!

What a beautiful restaurant! The relaxed ambiance is perfect, and having the option to sit outdoors is a wonderful touch. The seafood here is the real star. The oysters were incredibly fresh and fantastic, and the mussels were perfectly cooked and delicious. The shrimp croquettes were also lovely. The main course was a bit of a mixed bag. The catch of the day was cooked well but could have used a little more flavor. Unfortunately, the frites and the dessert were a letdown and didn't match the high quality of the starters. Overall, I'd highly recommend coming here for the amazing seafood and the great atmosphere.

We hadn’t made a reservation and called on Friday afternoon. They told us it was very busy and that the only available time was at 9 PM. So, for next time on a Friday, I would definitely recommend booking in advance on Friday . When we arrived, we were greeted by a stunning entrance hall that seemed made for a restaurant. We were about ten minutes early, but they already had a table ready for us. The place looked beautiful — lively, crowded, and buzzing with energy. However, it was so busy that the staff seemed a bit rushed, which was a shame. The food is slightly more expensive than at other restaurants, so our expectations were high. Unfortunately, the dishes didn’t quite live up to them, though the meal was still enjoyable overall. We started with oysters, which were delicious, and then tried two types of fish for the main course. The fish itself was well-cooked, but the vegetables that came with it were a bit disappointing. In the very end, we gave the restaurant four stars out of five — mostly because of the stunning interior and the pleasant atmosphere, even though the food and service could have been a bit better

Mixed feelings about our experience here. Obviously the space is beautiful - and the WC is even more stunning. But the menu was limited (and they were "out" of the one chicken item 5 minutes after opening?), they don't pour water as a courtesy, and the wines by the glass were limited. The food itself was okay, nothing of note. And when a reservation was made months in advance noting a special occasion, which you also mentioned on arrival...doing nothing to honour that is a missed opportunity. Staff seemed rushed and stressed. Should have been so much better.

Pakhuis is a very good restaurant, the food, ambience and service is excellent. It is expensive, but this is expected. My only serious complaint is both times we have visited recently, the waiters were excellent until we had to leave and get the bill, they just disappeared and we had to get up to pay.

Beautiful interior and great food and drinks to match. We liked the service too. It’s a shame we couldn’t find time to come back for a second meal. Probably one of the best meals we had on our holiday in Belgium!

This was the highlight of our 10 day trip, and is the best food experience I’ve ever had! There are some mixed reviews, but I can assure you that if you really press in and engage in the experience, it will not disappoint. Disclosure: budget 1-2 hrs in line. He gets to about 3-4 groups of customers per hour. BUT, it’s worth it! You will see people not being able to be patient enough, and that makes the experience all the more special because it’s exclusive. Bring a small snack if you get hungry. You will get 15-20 minutes exclusively with the chef himself, and he not only values you and your time, but wants to cultivate a unique and truly special experience. He’s fluent in many languages, and makes sure you do not leave disappointed (he only wants payment if you’re satisfied). The sandwiches themselves were really unique and after getting the full experience, they are probably the best I’ve ever had. This is almost a spiritual experience, learning patience and watching a person do what they love unattached to greed or efficiency. He’s truly one of a kind, and anyone who has the privilege of meeting him should count themselves lucky. This is one of a kind— don’t miss it!

So overpriced. Yes good, the cheese is quality but the bread is bad… I would also put more veggies especially given the price. Also it takes about 30 mins to get served because the guy speaks a lot. I understand the business model of being friendly but then he makes the same jokes with every single customer… Sure its good but definitely not the best and overhypped.

The owner made sandwiches with love and talking about the ingredients but its better to make it faster when there are a lot of people waiting. Taste was good and ingredients are fresh. If you have any plans after there better to not go or cancel it because you need 2 hours for it.

Waited over an hour for a sandwich at Tonton Garby in Brussels… Was it worth the wait? Honestly - no. Worth the price of €12 each? Probably. But the sandwich maker himself? Incredibly warm and genuinely passionate about cheese, bread and the people he serves. And the sandwich? The sweet one with fruit was the best I’ve ever eaten. Fresh and flavour-packed. The savoury one was still good, but didn't have the same wow factor. If you’ve got patience and an appetite, go meet the man and taste the magic. Just don’t expect fast food. This is a one-man, one-sandwich-at-a-time operation.

Magnificent. The owner is the best. Each sandwich is custom made for you. The owner speaks many languages and will ask you for your taste preferences and builds the sandwich based off of your choices that pair well starting with the cheese. He gives samples of the cheese as he makes your sandwich as well. You pay after eating and if you do not like the sandwich he will eat it. There was a very long line due to the process of making the sandwiches. Was a great experience regardless of the wait.

Admittedly we waited a long time to reach the counter to be served by Tonton. In return for our patience we received a warm, personal experience, where he took the time to chat with us about what we like and built our sandwiches from huge range of cheeses and cold meats. Seating is limited, which was annoying to have to find somewhere else to eat after queuing for so long. The kids loved their sandwiches and even wanted to come back the next day, but with the prospect of another lengthy wait, and many other places beckoning, we gave it a miss!

I have never experienced service like it and doubt I will ever again. Not a commercial drive but a love of food. You don’t choose what you want, he asks you about you, likes and dislikes as well as other social chat and then makes you a baguette like you have never tasted. Strawberry, fig, red current, cheese and other fillings. WOW! We thought we would be served in 10 minutes, small queue of 5 people in front of us. 30 minutes later an we were talking about where we were from, making my wife happy if I want a happy life and other things. Then the food arrived. 🤩 Recommend to get there before 12.

I visited this restaurant 10 years ago and had a fantastic experience, which led me to book again, particularly because the website advertised live music on Friday evenings featuring local artists. Unfortunately, upon arrival, there was no live music, and the atmosphere was quite lackluster. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, we were seated between two other tables, creating a cramped dining experience. Interestingly, the couple seated next to us mentioned they had also booked expecting live music. The food was mediocre. We ordered the beef stew, which had good quality meat but was served lukewarm. Overall, it was a disappointing evening. While I understand the experience might differ during peak season, the website's promotion of live music was misleading and left us dissatisfied.

Fantastic experience at Bistro Zwart Huis! The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The atmosphere is cozy and full of character, and the live music made the evening even more special. The staff were friendly. Truly a place you don’t want to miss when visiting Brugge!

We visited Zwart Huis during our trip to Bruges, and it turned out to be one of the highlights! The atmosphere is truly special — dim lighting, live jazz (or great music), and a stylish interior in a beautiful historic building. The food was outstanding: the meat was cooked perfectly, and gave a great insight into Belgian cuisine. The service was super friendly and attentive without being intrusive, but also very welcoming and cosy, as if you were visiting old friends. A perfect spot for a romantic dinner or a dreamy evening with friends over wine. Would absolutely come back! ❤️

We came here for dinner and ordered a Caesar salad and goat's cheese salad. The goat's cheese salad was absolutely beautiful, probably one of the best I've had. The staff were extremely friendly and made us feel at home which was great. Fantastic selection of Belgian beers and different foods. It was quite quiet when we went in, but it looked as though it would pick up later on. So definitely worth going to if you're in Bruges.

Lovely restaurant with a little bar area. Great service, excellent food! Beware large portions! We had a starter and a main each but probably should have had a starter to share, as 3 out of 4 of us couldn't finish our main even though it was delicious! Croquettes & Belgian stew were fantastic! Beautiful looking interior with dual level, open fire on the top level and stunning lighting, jazz instruments decorate the walls and complement the jazz music being played.

Delicious food it took a while for us to get our food but it was worth the wait. We seem to have been maybe forgotten? The décor is fantastic the fireplace adds so much to the ambiance of the whole place. One derful music playing kept the place lively, very crowded when we were there as they told us it is like that all the time!

It's so popular it means it's packed! However it's worth being crammed in for the delicious Belgium Fries with awesome toppings. The mayo bar was a 1st for us, and very tasty. The 1 shrimp croquet for €7 with 1 tiny shrimp in it was ridiculous...save your money for the fries and beer 🍺 Over all I recommend 🇨🇦

Absolutely loved this place! The frites were perfect and the shrimp croquette was delicious. You can tell everything is freshly made, and it was all served perfectly hot. A fantastic spot for a quick and high-quality meal. Highly recommend!

Super tasty Stoofvlees fries and strawberry ice tea! There was a little wait for the food but well worth it as the meat was beautifully cooked and tasted very tender. It was a little expensive but looked amazing (and tasted great too). Worth trying when in the area!

If in Ghent…dont miss this. Li’l crowded but worth it. Tried 3 Vegetarian options and all were lip smacking. The days special Veggie Chilli reminded me of exact flavours from back home. Recommended

Best fries in belgium! The Stovless ones is amazing, the parmessan and basilic is also really good. The fries are super crunchy but soft on the inside and try the truffle sauce!

They did have very good frites. I got the veggie burger, which was a beyond burger, which I’m not a big fan of. I enjoyed the frites. I got mine plain. The beef stew did not have a lot of beef. We thought it was a little expensive for the veggie burger. I would not come back.

These are local fries with different toppings. You can find the regular ones with the option to choose two toppings. Amazing fries. I tried de beef stew topping for something local. 11 euros. They were good!!! Regular ones around 5 e for a very decent size.

Small and very welcoming place. The staff is a bit pushy, because they need to change the tables as quickly as possible. Great selection of beers, although a bit expensive for the quantity offered. You can't choose, there is only 25cl. We also had a toasted ham and cheese but the bread was really poor, and also the products inside. For €9 I expected a good sourdough bread.

They ware closed on Sep 23 when I visited them the first time but my persistent pays off! It is a legendary place for many foreign Belgian beer lovers. It is the place you need to visit for once in your lifetime! Very simple bar only sale beer and soft drinks for kids. When you order your beer, they will accompany your beer with a small plate of cheese. That’s it! But the beer is really good!

The house beer, De Garre Tripel is what all beer should be. Also their Gulden Draak on tap is nice. They have lots of other beer on menu to try. Good vibes and free cheese too

This is a hidden gem located down a tiny alleyway close to the main square in Brugge. At the end of the alleyway there is a set of steep steps leading a somewhat anonymous doorway. Beyond that door is a wonderful, atmospheric "olde worlde" bar with a fantastic selection of beers served by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Try the house tripel it is excellent. Do not miss this bar. You may have to be a little be patient and wait for a seat on busy days but it is worthwhile.

This place is hidden down narrow alley and only found via recommendation. A nice little cosy beer bar with their own local drinks. I had 2/3 beers including the house triple. Also had the pate which was a good snack Bar man was helpful and friendly. Would of gone back. With location it's full of tourist but as per try something different and you can enjoy it. Could imagine it's great on cold night. Got free cheese with beer which was nice touch.

Fantastic local pub with a hidden entrance. Ancient building, tongue in cheek service. Love it! Considered not reviewing so I don't contribute to even more tourists like me 🤭 there. But they do deserve the creds. It's one of those places, IDK. (Food might be better, we just had the cheese with beers)

This bar is a true hidden gem in Bruges. Tucked behind a narrow entrance, it opens up into a super cozy, old-vibes kind of place that feels like a secret spot only locals know about. You must taste these waffles. They’re so light and fluffy and have a range of toppings. There are even savoury options though we opted for the sweet version. You can even make your own and select the toppings if your choice.

Everything was excellent! The savory waffle with mozzarella and pesto was full of flavor and perfectly balanced, and the Norwegian salmon waffle was fresh and delicious. The vanilla milkshake was creamy and just the right amount of sweet. The service was super friendly, and the atmosphere cozy and welcoming. We would have loved to try the sweet waffles too — they looked absolutely exquisite, but we simply had no room left!

Great place, great waffle and great ENERGY. After being turned away by another place - because they were closing 20mins EARLY - this was a lovely change of scenery. We arrived 30mins before closing and they didn't turn us away and treated us with respect and great energy throughout. I had the "Mikado" waffle (Custard w/Choc sauce) and my wife had the "Strawberry fields" waffle. Which we loved and we'll definitely be back again!

On the internet, you’ll find endless “top waffle” lists, some fancy, some wild, recommending all sorts of “waffleries.” Liège waffles—round and fluffy—or Brussels waffles—square with that magical crisp exterior. We went for the square ones. And yes… we nailed it. We ordered: - Chuck Berry (Berry & cream – their homemade jam) - Classico (vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and a tiny cup of melted chocolate – heaven in a bite!) - Strawberry Fields (a mountain of juicy strawberries with whipped cream). And the names! Pure genius. Each comes with a larger-than-life picture of either modern legends (Trump, Obama, Michael Jordan) or the classic icons (Kennedy, Sinatra, Marilyn, Cassius Clay). You literally get culture, dessert, and a history lesson in one. The service? Impeccable. We were served by a young student with a very Belgian name I couldn’t pronounce—kudos to her and to whoever had the brilliance to hire her. Prices? Totally reasonable for the delights served (€11). And here’s the fun part: listen as you cut through that crispy waffle exterior—it’s a symphony for your taste buds, basically screaming: “Release the saliva!” Bonus: after a lifetime of searching in other countries, we finally discovered the Vanilla Iced Latte here—mind-blowingly good. So listen up, ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, future waffle lovers: if you ever find yourself in Bruges, don’t miss House of Waffles. Because if you do, when you reach the pearly gates, St. Peter might very well ask: “Why did you skip waffles so good even the saints themselves would line up for?”

First waffle experience in Belgium did not disappoint. I forgot to take pics of the kids sweet waffles but the adult ones were out of this world. I thought they’d be too heavy and we’d be stuffed but they were light and fantastic. An experience that you can’t miss!

As a solo traveler, many people are accustomed to people coming and having a seat for one and accept you. This time around, I actually made reservations but even by doing that, what I found profoundly inconsiderate and rude, was they had me seated in an area that was away from the main dining area and in some secluded corner. Then as food arrived, the staff was nonstop hovering by the entryway as if one should hurry eating. But funny enough enough, the food is done and im ready for the check, given I said I was finished and asked for the check, they have never approached me again. So again, I ask for the check once again with no acknowledgement. And then again to some other guy. Guess 3rd times a charm?? 25 mins for a check. Anyways. Lasagna, not bad but definitely not anything in Italy nor close to it. The pasta is a bit tough and heavy. The meat flavoring was pretty good. I contemplated going to the Italian place across the corner, murano I think, probably should have listened to my gut.

The restaurant describes its cuisine as “slow food” vs. “fast food.” It’s part of a global, grassroots organization to prevent the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions. “Slow Food” represents food that is good, clean and fair priced. To make it work the food has to be delicious and our pizza was one of the best I have ever had - and I have spent months in Italy. The crust was made from wheat grains that were organically grown in Italy. It was topped with artisan cooked ham, seasonal mushrooms, and smoked scarmorza cheese. The service was also excellent. Our server was funny, helpful, and professional. If I lived in Bruges this would be one of my go to restaurants.

A cozy and inviting restaurant, perfect for enjoying a delicious pizza paired with quality Italian wines and local beers. The wide selection of authentic pizzas makes the place especially appealing. The gourmet pizza with fior di latte and burrata was outstanding, especially the touch of lemon added a refreshing and unique twist. While the truffle tagliatelle could have been creamier and more seasoned, it was still enjoyable. Overall, it was a very good experience. Lovely experience. We came to the restaurant just as they were opening (around 6 pm), We sat outside and saw the view of the plaza. The service was excellent, warm people. We ordered a soft soda, rosé wine, and shared margarita pizza and carbonara pasta. The pizza was great, but the carbonara pasta was exceptional. We enjoyed it very much. *I also added a photo that shows we completely devoured our food. The price was reasonable. When we finished eating we went inside the restaurant to use the washroom and it was so beautifully designed and decorated. I recommend sitting inside or in the patio. Overall an amazing experience and very recommended if you’re in Bruges.

We had a reservation, which is important because the place gets busy, though they do take walk-ins. The ambiance is really nice. I visited a while ago for pizza, which I remember being very good. This time, I tried the pasta. The dish was good, classic and simple, though I wish there was more variety on the menu. The tomato sauce was nicely umami, but the burrata on top didn’t seem like the best quality. The sauce texture could have been a bit better to coat the pasta more evenly, but overall, it was a solid meal. I also had a vodka martini which was amazing, and the red wine we ordered was very good as well. Service was friendly and smiley. A pleasant spot for a straightforward meal.

We had three different pizzas. We chose the vegetarian options. The pizzas were surprisingly tasteless. Mine was a little burnt, as you can see in the picture. The beer selection is also limited.

Grand Horta Cafe in Antwerpen is a must-try for breakfast lovers! We went on a Saturday at 11 am, just in time for their grand breakfast, which runs until 11:30. The service was excellent, and the staff was very attentive. It's definitely a popular spot, so I'd recommend reserving a table in advance to avoid disappointment. The cafe has ample seating, creating a comfortable and spacious atmosphere. After breakfast, we also tried their Bao Buns, which were delicious and only available after the breakfast service. Overall, a great experience. Will experience their dinner next time 🙂

Attend a meal here, was absolutely exceptional staff very attentive, and made to feel very welcome despite the large number of attendees, the food was delicious and very well presented, and all topped off in an amazing building. Highly recommend, Perfect location in Antwerp.

I attended the Gala Dinner at Horta during the European Aviation Conference 2024 and was thoroughly impressed by the architecture, having delved into the history of the place. The interiors are equally captivating. The meals were elegant and delicious and the staff was extremely friendly. Next time, I look forward to trying dishes from the menu.

It’s our 3rd time trying this restaurant while we’re in town. The service staff are very kind and the food is usually really good but avoid carbonara pasta at all cost. ( it tasted like ready pasta :( !

This is my favourite restaurant in Antwerp. First time I came was in the 1990s. The steaks are the best in town here.

In a small and quiet alley, we found this superb restaurant near the marketplace. The service was perfect. The Asian waitress took her time to explain everything and asked us many times if everything was going well. The food was served, not to fast, not to slow. I'd gladly come back again next time.

This place is beautiful, fancy, and downright romantic. The staff is very helpful and friendly, the ambience is perfect, the menu is creative, and the food is amazing. I recommend any horse steak - I ordered the one with pepper sauce (AMAZING), while my wife ordered the one with Foie Gras, which was great minus that greasy and horrifying hepatic tissue. The Shrimp stew is incredible as are the Croquettes. Take your spouse here for any special occasion.

The fries were perfectly crispy, and the homemade dipping sauces added an extra layer of flavor. The portions were generous, and the food felt light and fresh rather than greasy. The atmosphere is casual and modern, making it a great place for a quick yet high-quality meal. The staff was friendly and efficient, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable dining experience.

Nice place in the middle of a touristy section. I got fish and chips. They were good. It was great to get out of the freezing cold into a warm warm spot with a table right next to the window and the nice view. This is the kid size. The big one would’ve been too much for me and not worth the price.

The best thing about this place is the service, it was attentive and fast. The food is also tasty for its price. You don't have to expect super food, it's a great quick meal. Perfect if you are a tourist. The portions are big, very big, which is a plus. When we come to Antwerp again - will definitely dine at this cafe. The fried mussels were unexpectedly the most delicious.

I had the classic fish and chips which came with a generous amount of tartar sauce. It was a good sized portion of fish and chips which I couldn't finish. The home brew ice tea was delicious. Lovely ambience with patterned floor tiles and aged timber and iron tables. Tables set for two which can be adjusted to fit groups. Indoor and outdoor dining available.

Good quality restaurant in the middle of Antwerp old town. Portions are fair sized and the quality of the ingredients is high but things can be a little hectic at times. Worth a visit, however, as the seafood price/quality ratio is much better than the other restaurants in the area.

Small noodles location in the busy street with a decent choice of options. You can choose the spice level and the quantity matches with the cost. The food was good and the flavours are in place with no surprises. The service was pretty quick, given the small crew. Perfect place to have a tasty hunger break in between the city exploration.

Very good choice of starters, noodles, and wok dishes, as well as homemade lemonade (lemon and ginger—simply delicious). The meals are freshly prepared in the nearby kitchen, and the prices are fair and reasonable. No booking was required on the day we visited the restaurant midweek in July (evening).

This place serves the most delicious tonkatsu I’ve ever had! 🥢 Every bite melts in your mouth, and the combination of spices and sauces makes the dish incredibly flavorful and satisfying. The staff is amazing so friendly, attentive, and welcoming. From the moment you step in, you feel warmth and care, making the experience truly enjoyable. The atmosphere here is so inviting that you just want to come back again and again.

Others have mentioned the tasty noodles etc so skipping over that bit, but I'd also like to point out the amazing selection of high-quality tea (we had oolong). We had kimchi and the vegan gyozas as appetizers and greatly enjoyed both.

Because of such high rating, I had very high expectation. The food was quite average, there is nothing special about it, and not much flavor either. I am not sure why this is considered as Lebanese. Exactly same as that of turkey or Greece. I just had so many better versions than this one.

My friends and I came from another city to eat here. It was the most delicious durum I've ever had. We also ordered other dishes. But for me, the garlic pasta was a real discovery. Delicate but at the same time spicy, perfect consistency, creamy white color - it's perfect! The fries were perfectly fried, My shawarma with chicken and andalusian sauce won my heart, no meat spared for you here! My special love is hummus.Everything was so delicious that we left empty plates❤️And a nice present at the end, we were treated to a drink. Honestly, my day was hard, but the atmosphere in this place and the people who work here changed my mood and well-being. You can really feel the love in every dish here. Love for their work, love for the people who come here.I was also surprised that one of the employees spoke a little Ukrainian. It warmed my heart. L’Express is a nice Middle Eastern/Lebanese restaurant near the Grand Place in Brussels. We had lunch and ordered hummus with meat shawarma, hummus with chicken shawarma, and fattoush salad. The food was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. A good spot for a quick, tasty meal in the city center.

I ordered the shawarma and it was really good — juicy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The portion was generous and the ingredients tasted fresh. Great service and authentic Lebanese taste. Definitely coming back!

The food was decent, but the staff were not friendly at all. Their attitude toward customers was not nice. I had to wait more than an hour for my meal, and the tables were not clean either. Honestly, the taste is okay, but the prices do not match the quality of service. The waiting time is too long, and even parking is expensive. Not a place I would come back to soon.

We ordered two wraps. While my partner enjoyed the wrap, I didn’t. The plate, on which my food was brought, was dirty. It didn’t make my meal pleasant. The drink was far too basic for being home made and 4 euro’s (store juice). The homemade lemonade is just water with a little lemon juice in it. The price for the amount of food was decent. It’s really a place for students, which makes the atmosphere lively and fun. The outdoor setting is also spacious. We enjoyed the vibe of the place, but not the food. Just manage your expectations for this place.

Nice atmosphere and friendly vibe. The onion soup was really good, but I didn’t love the meatloaf with cherry sauce and the chowder with meat balls and chicken. Overall, the food seemed good quality, just not all to my taste.

The portions are huge, and please don’t be put off by the presentation – my husband got his stuffed bread in a plastic container with a lid, we received our tortilla on a plastic tray, and the salad came in a plastic bowl. Despite that, the food was delicious and excellent. It feels like having lunch at your grandparents’ house.

The outdoor seating was a great feel. Went there after reading good reviews about the place and I was not disappointed. The portions were adequate and decent price. Definitely recommended.

I'm strongly recommended trying chicken fricassee chowder. Its delicious!!! 😋😋😋 Also the establishment has high chairs for children and a place to change diapers. Very convenient if you plan to visit Dewerf with a child.

We miss it every time we eat pizza. Wonderful place which is easily missed but shouldn't be. The food is delicious with a great beer selection to accompany. We will hopefully be back again one day to sit near the window overlooking the water and watch the world go by. Big thank you to all the welcoming staff and especially the chefs.

Ordered the sharing deal for 2 people. It was nice to get 3 small pizzas to try more in one sitting and the amount of food was perfect for us (not ultra hungry) but the sides that we ordered were not worth it. Avoid the tomato salad and the spicy carrot. Nothing special. The pizzas were nice though and the vibes and staff were cool.

We were on a road trip with a stopover in Ghent, and during our time there, we had a lovely experience at Otomat. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and friendly smile from Chris (we are not sure if he is the manager, but he certainly made us feel right at home!). We ordered two pizzas (Ritmo De La Nacho and Margherita Classic), and both were absolutely delicious—beautifully baked with unique flavours and a perfect crust. You can really taste the quality and creativity in every bite. The wonderful pizzas, combined with Chris’s warm hospitality, lifted the whole experience to another level. We are already looking forward to coming back for brunch next time. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Ghent—it is a gem! P.S: The pizzas smelt so good that we forgot to take the pictures before we started eating. Hence the pictures with missing slices :)

Very nice, been to Otomat in Antwerp before and this location is just as nice! The Vol-au vent pizza is a personal favourite, the first time i saw it on the menu i frowned but now it’s just my absolute favourite! We had a lovely server, he had a very funny peanuts (snoopy) shirt :)

At Otomat in Ghent, I had the Boulette Pizza, which was quite unique but also very tasty . Definitely something different from your usual pizza. To drink, I tried both the homemade lemon and rose lemonade and their iced tea, and both were refreshing and good. The service was friendly and relaxed, which fit well with the casual vibe of the place. The interior isn't particularly pretty or fancy, but it's simple and cozy. Exactly the kind of setting that works for a spot like this. Overall, Otomat offers creative pizzas with great flavors and good service at fair prices. A nice place to try something a bit different while keeping things casual.

What truly made this restaurant stand out was the exceptional service. Despite being fully booked, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. We chose to sit outside, and they provided cozy fleece blankets to keep us warm. When a table became available indoors, they thoughtfully moved us in without us even asking! The pizzas we tried were delicious, though they weren’t the traditional Neapolitan-style base we were expecting. Regardless, the overall experience was fantastic. I highly recommend this place for the atmosphere and hospitality, and I’ll definitely be returning!”

Vegan options available. Burgers have a nice crispy bread-like bun, we had the avocado one but the flavor was lost among the sauces. Potatoes were okay, the sauces made them interesting, but they didn’t feel particularly fresh. The vegan cheese croquette was good, but the price (6€ per unit) feels overpriced. Drinks were tiny 250ml bottles (or 200ml for flavored sodas). 38 euros for this meal seems to be normal in Belgium, but as a low income tourist this is the first and probably last time I’ll lunch fries in Belgium 😔 Staff was great, eating outside was nice.

The table and chairs were dirty, there was no service — we had to call the waiter ourselves after waiting a long time. For a place famous for its fries, we ended up eating greasy, frozen ones. We had to pay 3 euros for sauces, otherwise they wouldn’t give any. If you’d like to pay 9.5 euros for a bowl of oil-soaked fries, this is the place for you.

I was quite disappointed by this place. Given the name and country, I was expecting to be blown away by the best fries I’ve ever eaten in my life but they were very plain and unremarkable. The burger was just as bland. The local beer however was lovely and the staff is incredible!

Wallpaper paste on sub standard fries. I can get most things down but I admitted defeat here. No flavour, consistency of glue and if those fries aren’t frozen then they had been knocking about all day because they were dry and hard. The croquette stuck instantly to the roof of my mouth and took most of my beer to dislodge it. Staff were lovely but I wish I’d just gone to the Markt, paid a fraction of the price and eaten decent fries whilst sitting on a step. At least I would have finished my meal.

This small Greek restaurant, nestled in a lively street full of other eateries, has been a personal favorite for over 15 years—and it never disappoints. If you’re a kebab lover, this place is a must-visit. Their kebab is consistently delicious and satisfying. That said, I wouldn’t recommend their full plates—they’re just average in taste. Still, they’ll do the job if you’re really hungry. Prices have gone up a bit over the years, which is unfortunate, but they’re still reasonable compared to similar spots. Seating is limited, spread over two small floors, and the hygiene definitely leaves much to be desired—I’d give that just 1 star. The staff is friendly, though usually rushed due to the high volume of customers and tourists, so don’t expect personal attention. Overall: If you’re craving a solid kebab in the heart of the city, this is the place to go. Just manage your expectations on cleanliness and service.

The service began well with the host and the seating as previously requested was a great one as well. It all went downhill when the female server picked up the order, it was a game of tug of war to push your bill up, for one person I paid 141€. And I don't seem to have anything to remember other than the snobby lady who only attended tables in Dutch. I will say the food presentation was great and the dessert was also good. But no need to make your way over, go somewhere else, better service. I found a pellet used in hunting in the hare, that's unacceptable. Also the chef never even came across the room to say hello or something. If a two star Michelin restaurant chef can do it, you can too, service from the heart not from the size of our pockets. Pity I must say. Adding to the fact that all 5 star reviews are of people who only have one review, how believable is that?

It is NOT a michelin star restaurant at all. The food was excellent but the service was horrible, even for a low cost restaurant. Many many basic mistakes were made that made us feel bad about the whole experience. Service is cold and not welcoming, making us feel bad not taking the extras. The water (6euros 500ml) wasn't even served to us. Waiter came back 3 times (!!!) to ask us to repeat what we ordered. Price were never mentionned. Service was pushy toward extras and wine tour. My glass of wine was never presented or explained to me, i have no idea what i drank. Bread crumbs on the table was never cleaned which felt weird. It was our first starred restaurant and lowered the michelin standard to us

The concept of "slow food" is taken seriously here. Bread is served after 30 minutes, and the first course arrives after 50 minutes. Empty plates aren't cleared away for over 15 minutes, which would make the restaurant feel like rush hour. It's a real shame that the service is so uninspired, almost destructive. The food, on the other hand, was very fine. Overall, though, the restaurant leaves a bad impression. Two hours for a three-course lunch menu. Horrible.

Nice space. Clean and tastefully decorated. Servers are very busy as they are few and many tables. The food were delectable and portions are generous. The vol-au-vents is the best I have tasted so far. I especially love how they have food options not readily available elsewhere - calf's brain, veal tongue. Reservation is needed as it gets full.

I tried this traditional Flemish restaurant for the first time and I was truly impressed. The food is excellent — and coming from an Italian, that really means something. Everything was genuinely delicious. The service was outstanding. The waitresses were extremely kind, spoke multiple languages, and were incredibly helpful. I felt very well taken care of from start to finish. The location is great too: right near the center of Ghent and just steps away from the castle. It was a really pleasant surprise, and I will definitely come back. Highly, highly recommended.

Came here on our first night visiting Belgium and it was a wonderful experience. They have digital menu in Dutch, but one can easily translate it to English through the browser. We ordered vol au vent, Flemish stew and the dishes were amazing, definitely a highlight of our trip. The service was also prompt and the waiter was very kind to answer our questions about the menu.

We absolutely loved the pork stew and cheese croquettes! The steak bearnaise wasn't the best, however. Although the steak was cooked well, the meat was quite tough and didn't seem to be the best quality. The service was lovely!

Had a lovely evening dinner at Meme Gusta. Even though online reservations were full, I was able to call and find a table for two on Tue night. For vegetarians - mushroom toast was really fantastic! Even the starter size was quite filling as a meal. Also good are the cheese croquettes and crème brûlée.

I wanted to love this place. It’s mentioned in Rick Steve’s book but it just didn’t hit the mark. The food was ok. My husband and his friend had a pasta dish that looked so unappealing. I had naan and toppings and soup. It was good. My friend had a salad. She said it was good. What I found frustrating was that although we were 4 of maybe 10 people there for lunch it took over an hour to get our food. The service was so slow. Also, I had placed my water bottle on the table at some point and the gentleman serving us abruptly told me I can’t drink my own water!! I wasn’t -I just didn’t want my bottle on the ground. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Lovely place, very nice staff (they also speak good English), tasty food. This is our third time here, we won't miss a visit to Den Amand when coming to Brugges. Had the Caserecce pasta with shrimps and the mildly spicy scampi with pasta, could not recommend them enough! Also, nice white wine of the house. P.S. very clean bathroom too, which is always a plus!

The food was delightful; I was particularly impressed by the spring rolls. The beer was also very good. The staff member, perhaps the owner, was exceptionally friendly and helpful, offering excellent food recommendations.

As a last minute dinner decision, Bistro Den Amand exceeded every expectation! The restaurant is small and cozy and exceptionally clean. The service is great and the food is absolutely incredible. The sea bass off the specials menu was amazing. Recommend calling for a reservation as there are very few tables and you don’t want to miss the opportunity to dine here.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Den Amand! Both the steak and fish were well-cooked. The ‘krieltjes’ are a recommendation, as is the mushroom sauce! The latter I could have drank an entire glass of. Service was friendly and quick. House wine paired well with our dishes.

Quaint 6 table Bistro just steps away from the Market. The husband and wife team provided us with a terrific meal and attentive, informative and pleasant service. I definitely recommend the Bruges specialty appetizer to enjoy while the main course is being thoughtfully prepared. Other than the appetizer, we had one of the nightly specials, wild venison with Port sauce, fresh vegetables, baked apples, mushrooms and croquettes, and the Chateaubriand with peppercorn sauce, baked fingerling potatoes and added a fresh seasonal salad. Everything was delicious. Bonus: Belgian style non-alcoholic beer!

Quirky old building, very small inside drinking area but with a larger outdoor terrace for the summer months. Good value for money drinks and the service was swift and friendly. The only toilet is downstairs in the basement.

Had a great beer in this picturesque pub with terrific seating outside on the plaza and an excellent ambience inside. Unfortunately my server didn’t really seem to appreciate customers who don’t know much about Belgian beer. Rather than answering any of my questions, brusquely said, “I’ll bring you a great local beer”, without even offering a choice of double, triple or whatever. It was very good but nowhere near the best I’ve had so far here in Belgium.

After 5 years living in Europe and having visited 10 countries this is the worst customer service that I have experienced by far. The staff was extremely rude and pushy to order as fast as possible because "every table is money". It is self evident that they do not care about the service or people, but about how much money they can get from you. They claim themselves to be the smallest pub in Ghent. That might be true, smallest mindset, lower customer service and even a tiny beer selection from the tap. With hundreds of excellent bars in Ghent, unfortunately, we made the worst choice. I'm sure if you take a look around and you'll easily find plenty of better options.

Tasty waffles! These had a much lighter texture than many we tried in Belgium. They tasted healthier, especially with many fruit toppings available. The pomegranate chocolate nib flavor/texture combo was very good. I also enjoyed that they were shaped like Belgian lace squares. The waffles were pretty pricey, but it makes sense given its location on a central tourist street. There was a pretty view of the canal you could watch while eating your waffle. :)

This is a wonderful place to take a break. The environment is beautiful with a lovely view of the river, and the staff were very friendly. The waffle itself was fine, though I personally prefer a crispier texture. The ice cream was a delicious bonus! A great choice if you're looking for a relaxing spot.

Beautiful atmosphere and a great concept – you can watch both the preparation and the making of the waffles by hand. Everything is freshly made and carefully arranged, and the waffles tasted absolutely delicious. We were lucky to find a seat in the backyard, where we could enjoy them with a lovely view of the canal. A clear recommendation for anyone looking for a wonderful waffle experience in Belgium!

I only coffee with oat-milk, but my girls loved the waffles there. So good, that we came back a few days later. If you are looking for something different from all the others, come here. No seating, to my regret.

If you only have time for ONE waffle when visiting Bruges, make sure you have it here. You can taste that the waffles are made with high quality products and love. Heres why I came: I try to eat very healthy, and have to be gluten and dairy free. This place checked both boxes. And since I was traveling from a different country, I was able to say that I got a Belgian Waffle and didn’t feel gross afterwards! Definitely recommend it. And its only 4 euros

Best thing ever!!! All of the flavors just click. The pomegranate and cacao give it a crunch. The waffles are spongy and moist. The strawberries and whip cream give it a slight sweetness. Best, nothing is too sweet and its light. I could eat this everyday.

Loved this place. The bagels are fully stuffed and very filling, and the drinks were nice. We went for brunch and the service was really quick. We didn't have to wait too long for our meals. It was also rather easy to order, you scan the QR code and can still easily pay by cash when you finish.

The bagels were delicious and freshly made. The terrace had a lovely atmosphere with the spring sun shining bright. The service was very friendly and quite quick. Ideal for breakfast, lunch or brunch. They even have breakfast menu options.

Lovely coffee place, perfect for an after-market or after-shopping drink / bite. Decoration is really vintage, giving you that living room 80’s feeling. When it comes to the service, it is not the fastest and not really structured. Paying is at the counter and you just say what you’ve had. Coffee is tasty, but nothing really special. Bagels are delicious as well, but slightly overpriced.

It started ok with a drinks in the bar downstairs. Once in the restaurant, we were seated. Drinks arrived, and the main course was 40 minutes later, and it appeared ( we were given a nice taster of soup) before. Mine was the Lamb curry, which was great. Both had grated carrot as a salad?? My wife's was supposed to have been chicken pie. It had 3 small pieces of chicken. In the uk, you would pay 3 euros for a poor chicken bake. The restaurant was pretty busy. Service was poor, not once did anyone come over and ask how the meal was. Left early it was cold room as well

We had a lovely evening here last night. Food came quickly considering it was so busy and our waiter was great, friendly and helpful giving us tips from the menu. Food was excellent too - including the complimentary leek and potato soup taster! Highly recommend, especially if you fancy something a little different to the other restaurants in Bruges.

Visited this establishment yesterday, 29 July 2024. We made a reservation before arriving. We were warmly greeted at the door and given a choice of seating options. Both waiter and waitress were very kind and polite to all guests. When I heard South African and bunny chow, my patriotic tastebuds were aroused, and adventure filled my being. Upon arrival of the meal, I was surprised by the presentation, as I'd never seen a bunny chow like it, and as a native South African I've always eaten a bunny chow with my fingers. The filling on the inside was delicious, I would describe it as a lamb stew, more than a lamb curry. It was very delicious. The meal was served with French fries and a carrot salad, also freshly prepared and pleasant on the palet. Definitely NOT a bunny chow. I made a bunny chow in my kitchen and this is what a bunny chow is, every South African knows that. If you are in Bruges, please support these guys, I will certainly be returning and seeing them more often.

We sat in the bar downstairs for a few hours and enjoyed the company of the owner and had great conversations. Drinks were good (South African wine was delicious) and our last minute decision to have charcuterie was a wonderful surprise. A must go for a unique experience of South African hospitality. Loved this South African restaurant! The atmosphere was lovely and the food was incredible. My friend and I got the bunny chow (a lamb curry served in bread; photo attached) and my veggie friend got the veggie pie. It had a selection of vegetarian options which made a nice difference to the many places that only had one (or no) veggie option. The man who served us (long curly hair with blue eyes) was super friendly and attentive too. Would 100% recommend!

Fantastic location, deliciously filling food and amazing Hospitality. When we got there at around 8.30 pm the bells from the Belfort Bell tower were playing which made the experience even better! Highly recommended

Perfecr coffee shop for coffee lover! This coffee shop exists years of years. They really give you quality and non-commercialized kind of coffee. Try and visit this shop and you see yourself. What real coffee is. This place is just next to the Star Bucks coffee shop. If you are facing Starbucks, go on, you're left, follow the small street, and you see the shop on your right.

What attracted me to this place is the history with its establishment since 1937. Mokabon is such a charming little coffee shop that captures the essence of a cozy European café. My coffee and my husband’s chai latte were SUPER DELICIOUS. Probably some of the nicest coffee we had in Belgium. Very tasty. We also got a waffle with whipped cream. After we paid I realized my husband didn’t add the seasonal fruit so I asked the server if we could get a side of fruit too and even though it felt like a simple request, the server seemed annoyed saying they needed to check. In the end, they were able to get us raspberries on the side which the actual barista rang us up for instead of the server for some reason. The raspberries were delicious tho! The waffle was pretty tasty too. I’ll add that it’s a small place with not a lot of seating. We ended up just standing at a small table near the register. We noticed solo people sitting at round tables of 4 chairs and watched others sit down not with that other person. So, it’s not strange to share tables with strangers. We’re from the USA where that sort of thing doesn’t happen and is considered kinda rude. So PSA to other tourists!

If you want an old-school coffee experience, this is the place. Nothing fancy, just really good coffee in a lovely little shop. We enjoyed our afternoon pick-me-up in this unassuming little place. It felt like it was flash frozen in the post-WWII era!

The restaurant offers a 4 course menu. No options left or right except for the dessert. There good quality food but I'm missing a bit the last mile. They work rather with spices than with the base incredients. I like the wine list, it's a good sele of global vineyards. When you sit in the back of the restaurant, it might get noicy because you are nearby the kitchen.

I’m glad that I bumped into this lovely restaurant on the way to the concert centre. It sit on a quiet street just 2mins away from the busy area. The hospitality was wonderful and the food was great! Slightly underwhelming given the reviews and its listing in the Michelin guide. Everything was cooked decently and nicely presented, but somewhat lacked depth and the flavours weren't particularly special or interesting. Gastronomic style over substance. There was a lack of non-alcoholic drink options. Service was polite but there were only 2 waiters for the whole restaurant.

I found this place to be a bit stuffy and disappointing. It was more show than quality. I felt for the quality the prices were extortionate. For example I had a bavette steak as a main, which was priced at over 30 Euros. It's a £3 steak and I could cook it better at home. I did not leave feeling satisfied with the food, to be honest .I know the ratings are high, but I felt a waste of money for what choices there were on the menu. I think this will appeal to a certain type of person who likes more show and a fancy setting. The staff are very professional and it's a nice interior but not a choice for me to return to hence the 4 star rating which I'm being quite generous with.

Delicious! Great creative use of ingredients and flavors, had the turbo, cauli & romanesco, puréed potatoes, warm fresh baked bread and rice pudding for dessert, nice wine suggestion. Great food and service, very comfortable cozy. In and outside seating.

Beer were amazing! Service isn't good BUT having only 1 server on the floor and 3 behind the bar is the issue. Our server was running around like a mad man while no one else helped. Suggestion would be to have 2 in the back and 2 out serving the patio/restaurant but still an amazing experience.

It’s this famous bar where they serve you beer in this really huge flask. And the other hype is that while they serve u the beer in this flask, they keep one of your shoe. And then return the shoe when you finish your beer and return the flask. Fun idea. Otherwise it’s a proper bar vibe.

Really great atmosphere, even on a Wednesday afternoon. The owners/staff are friendly and really good at what they do. Snacks were generous and really good quality (we had pate and cheese). Beer choice is off the scale. Really should be on everyone’s to do list.

I was in Ghent on a day bus tour, and we had a free hour before we left, and This is one of the places i went. -I came here for the shoe in exchange for beer tradition. -It was very busy, the inside was full, and you can only get the large 1 yard of beer inside, not on the pattio outside. -There was a line out the door, and i waited in line for maybe 10-15 min. -eventually i was seated, i was solo, so they added me to a large round table half full of people (4 out of 8), and they were a friendly group from amsterdam. -Soon after i ordered the yard of beer, they came pretty fast with it, and asked for a shoe in exchange. - I chugged the beer in 3 gulps. It was a little different drinking from that large glass, as the beer doesnt flow consistently from the shape. -Then i paid and left drunk and happy -The service was great, it was very busy, and they were running around helping everyone, but always had a smile on their face. I would love to come back here and get a booth in the back area

Beer was fantastic, the house beer Max van't Huis was great, the glasses were unbelievable! Tradition to give up one show was very good humoured. This is indeed a beer lovers MUST DO in Belgium. The menu for beers is endless, but brewery and alphabetically. But go for the Max 😎 Atmosphere was friendly, my "young adult" daughters were very comfortable, the clientele were mixed and inclusive, very friendly and family included. I would recommend to anyone and everyone.

Great, if odd bar. Went in years ago and we were the only ones in. Really busy (but still seating) in late May this year. Hanging mannequins are quirky. Buy a yard of ale and leave a shoe as a deposit for the glass

Amazing ambiance. The place is located in the beautiful Heverlee, away from the crowds of Leuven. We had our dinner on the terras in the back. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food menu is written on the different boards around the place. There is a menu for the drinks on each table. The food was quite good. I had the vegetarian cannelloni filled with sweet potato in quite a decadent sauce of tomatoes and different spices, topped with a generous amount of tasty parmesan cheese. There were plenty of other vegetarian and non vegetarian options. I recommend going here for anyone tryna ng to have unique food experience around Leuven.

It's not a fancy restaurant. It is rather something usual although the menus are oddly international. I like the abundance of food and I appreciate their interpretation of foreign dishes.

It is really nice relax kind of mixed cafe and restaurant. I do like small snack portion. the price is only around 5-6 euro. I am full from that portion :) For the normal big portion food, for me is just OK (big portion but quality is not top with the ok price). I am sure will come back if I run out of idea for simple lunch/dinner.

Rudest staff of any shop I’ve ever been in… laughing and chatting to each other. I had to ask 3 times picking individual chocolates. Only they my children were with me that I didn’t walk out of there. Soo rude.

The chocolates were exquisite, making it an ideal stop for those seeking treats for friends and family, and they have an extensive collection of homemade items to choose from. However, it is a bit pricey.

We visited many chocolate shops, and The Chocolate Crown was one of them. The staff were friendly, and the variety and shapes of chocolate were absolutely unexpected. As for the prices… well, let’s say all those chocolate creations probably don’t cost the same as a croissant, so maybe the price is justified, right? It’s worth checking out if you come across it. It’s a fun shop with a movie-like atmosphere, you know, the famous Willy Wonka vibe.

We stumbled across this chocolate shop during our visit in Bruges. The chocolate was very good and tasty and the lady who served us was very kind and nice. I highly recommend place! This was one of the best Belgian chocolate we ever ate.

Excellent chocolate shop. A good range of chocolate and nougat, with some reasonably priced presentation boxes. This chocolate is the real deal - the 'Belgian' chocolate you buy at home is not a patch on this.

One of my all time favourite cafes when I go travelling!! Has a great jazzy vibe, quality coffee and some baked goods! Think they serve lunch too but I did not get to try!! Check it out. Good ambiance and music throughout the shop. Plenty of seating. Very friendly waiters/waitresses. Good choices of non-dairy milk, no extra charge. The coffee is a more fruity and acidic roast, which is unfortunately not to my preference, however, it is one of the smoother fruity roasts and not too aggressively acidic.

Coming here I had high expectations as the reviews are mostly positive. I live across and it always looked lively and the food delicious. However, I left a bit disappointed. The concept is sharing dishes - 3 of us ordered 5 dishes. They were bringing each dish one by one taking forever in between each dish. I don't know if they were waiting for us to finish one dish to bring another but for me this way is not it. Sometimes you want to try 2 things at once. I mean we are "sharing" but why can't we share all the dishes at once? The food itself was mostly nice. I have to say the way they make salmon - delicious. One of the best I've had. Though, their duck was super chewy and really not that great. For 20€ tiny piece of meat I would expect much more. The staff was really nice and attending. Still, overall I did not enjoy the experience as much as I wanted and expected.

We came midweek evening after we had checked for a restautant with vegetarian food. The food was absolutely delicious and came out in a time that allowed you to enjoy each dish. Staff attentive but not intrusive. We had four of the mains to share: dumplings with mushroom; sweet potatoe with panna cotta and kimchi; aubergine with a crispy bread crumbs; and salmon with fennel. Menu clearly marked to help you select gluten free or vegatarian. Interesting & excellent choice of artistanal beers, and good selection of none alcoholic drinks. (Can be expensive but the 'Hands of Desire' we had was well worth the price - 75cl bottle) The tables were a little close and there was some noise from other diners but possible to chat. Will definitely come again. Could be my new favourite place in Leuven!

I’ve been here before & enjoyed it but last night the service was disappointing, even though the food & cocktails were still tasty. We had to repeatedly ask for basics like napkins, cutlery, and plates! When we ordered two pitas for four people, the waitress refused to cut them in half! More surprisingly, despite ordering individually via the QR code (with each person’s name listed) we paid everything within one bill & were told to figure it out and split the costs ourselves because “that’s how their system works.” If that’s the case the QR code ordering seems pointless. Great food, however the service needs further attention to keep customers coming back.

The place does have a great vibe. The food selection is not varied but tasy and good quality. I had a chance to try their cheesecake and it was lovely. The hummus and crackers is also not bad. I would recommend the place.But better to go before 14:30 or after 18:30 because in between they kind of close the kitchen.

Quiet location approximately 15 mins from the center. We ordered the pitas as main dish and we like them very much, the peppers and hummus algo good👍 we tried veggie and lamb. The virgin mojitos were also nice and refreshing. We just found the pitas and dishes a little bit pricy given the quantity 😅

Pita breads were fantastic, however, be careful as the quality does not extend across the entire menu. We were charged 9€ for poorly cooked baked potato served as fries. All in all a good experience, but I'd rather be sick than fork out for those disgusting potatoes again 🤮🤮🤮.

I came to this restaurant based on reviews, and the staff were friendly from the moment I arrived. I chose to sit outside. The restaurant has two floors and is very spacious. I went during the day, so it wasn’t crowded. I ordered several dishes since there were three of us—fresh oysters and mussels in white wine, which were delicious and perfectly balanced, not too salty. Highly recommend this place if you’re visiting Brussels!

Famous seafood restaurant in Brussel. Their mussels fish are excellent as it is. Taste so good from their well cooked and freshness I can feel from every bite. The potato fries are not quite impression, not the good one. Salad are good. Pasta are too creamy for me. Staffs are friendly and helpful with the menu. Seating area are large and they have more seat upstairs so it’s big enough to host large group. Restroom are upstairs. Credit card accepted. Enjoy!

Absolutely the best mussels ever! They offer all kinds, and every dish is simply delicious — everything here is perfect. They even have their own beer, La Léon, which pairs wonderfully with the food. For dessert, I highly recommend trying the Wafel Léon — it’s the perfect sweet ending to your meal. If you’re visiting Brussels, you should definitely stop by this place. It’s a must-try! We had a lovely evening at Chez Léon with my family. We first walked past the restaurant and were immediately drawn in by how delicious the food looked, so we decided to come back one evening for dinner. On the night, we ordered Filet Américain prepared at the table, Garlic Butter, Assiette Léon, and Spaghetti Bolognese. The food quality was excellent, and everything was full of flavour. I would also like to give special appreciation to Alan, who was so friendly and entertaining—he made our two children laugh and enjoy themselves throughout the meal. Overall, we had a truly wonderful evening and would highly recommend Chez Léon!

Great vegan tarts and pastries, with speciality coffee. It's worth being aware they are 100% vegan, so no cow/dairy milk is available. But they do offer both oat milk and a pea based milk alternative.

The selection of brewing equipment, coffee beans, and pastries was great, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Even better, it’s dog-friendly, so my sister’s Shiba Inu, Miyu, could relax indoors with us and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. This is a perfect spot for coffee lovers and their furry family members!

I think the cafe is only one which has really good vibes and good space to focus on work with great coffees in Gent. I will say the best cafe in Gent! If Heating up little bit for my bread and Brewing coffee with hotter temperature would be better. But still Good to enjoy! :)

I was pleasantly surprised by Way Coffee Roasters in Ghent. As a non-vegan, I walked in completely unaware of the cafe's plant-based focus. However, this didn't detract from the experience at all. The flat white, made with oat milk, was surprisingly delicious. The coffee itself was rich and flavorful, and the oat milk blended seamlessly. It was clear that the coffee beans, roasted in-house, were of exceptional quality. To accompany my coffee, I ordered a cream croissant, and I was blown away. It was buttery, flaky, and the cream was the perfect complement. I couldn't believe it was vegan! The friendly staff and inviting atmosphere added to the overall enjoyment of my visit. If you love coffee, this place is a must visit; don’t let the vegan part scare you off!

Unique experience drinking a fresh coffee right next to / in the roastery. The Americano has a very detailed profile and a full, creamy body. Indoor and outdoor sitting areas are quiet and relaxing. Service is fast and friendly.
