Food court
Foodhallen is a trendy indoor food market located in the former tram depot of Oud-West neighborhood in Amsterdam. It's part of the larger De Hallen complex and features over 20 diverse food stalls offering a wide range of global cuisines, from Greek meze to Vietnamese summer rolls, American barbecue to wood-fired pizzas. The market is popular with both locals and visitors due to its high-end food options, including gourmet burgers, vegan sushi rolls, and more.
Possibly the best food hall we’ve ever been to. We went four nights in a row, it’s that good, and ate something different every time and there was still way more we could have tried. Coming from the UK we were also surprised by how reasonably priced it was. Pro Tip - try the lemonade with lime and mint from the central bar, taste sensation. Loads of veggie and gluten free options. It’s always packed but you will find a seat as people tend to move around quite quickly, just be mindful you can’t sit for ages unless you are eating and drinking but there’s plenty of space near the bar to stand as well. 100% must visit.
Tim F — Google review
A great food hall with tons of vendors and a huge variety of options! My partner and I split up to order, each finding something we loved quickly and managing to snag a table during a busy Thursday night. Great for meet ups and nights when you don’t want to cook in!
Kaitlyn K — Google review
We went here on a Friday around 4pm and it wasn‘t too crowded. We walked around for a good ten minutes just enjoying the atmosphere and looking at all the different food options. I got a poke bowl with vegan salmon which tasted okay and was a little too small for my liking, but the real star of the show were my friend‘s fries which came at a great price and tasted amazing. The portion was huge too, so it was enough to share :) We also tried the cannolis and those were great too.
Alina — Google review
The food court was okay in the sense that there are many options to choose from. The deep fried fish was quite delicious but the calamari was not. Portion size was small. The lemonade we got from one of the bars there was very fresh and tasty.
Arda T — Google review
So delicious and a great welcome scene for any traveller! All the food was the best I've had so far on my trip 😋 I got an Indian wrap €13 2x ciders €10 4x mini tartes from Petit gateau + 1 chocolate cookie - €20 The live music was great and chatting to locals was great too 👌🏽
Frances W — Google review
It’s a cute place where you can find many food options. There are central counters where everyone orders what they want, and then you move to your table with self-service. It gets quite crowded on weekends, and there’s no reservation system.
Begum M — Google review
A perfect spot for casual and fun dining. There’s a great variety of options, though I find the food a bit pricey for a “plaza” setting. As for the atmosphere, I would improve the quality of the chairs (they’re uncomfortable) and the acoustics, as it can get quite noisy.
Juliana M — Google review
Great place to eat and drink! So much choice and something for everyone. I had a beautiful salmon bowl from Padron and it was delicious. Excellent lively atmosphere. Highly recommend especially if everyone wants or likes different foods!

Fast food restaurant
Febo is a popular chain of auto vending machines that are known for accepting card payments, including Visa. However, some locations may experience low stock at times. Despite this, the service is generally friendly and efficient. The Kaassouffle is particularly well-received and lives up to its reputation. It's not uncommon to see pigeons enjoying a meal alongside customers.
Febo is a must try experience if you’re visiting Amsterdam. They have vending style machines were you can buy individual items or you can order from a machine near the counter or even at the counter. It’s very much fast food but it’s tasty. The cheese pocket things are unbelievably good. If you’re on a budget visiting Amsterdam, you could probably visit for lunch and dinner.
Jennifer R — Google review
Looks like a local fast food chain, I’ve tried the cheese burger and a vanilla milkshake, they were ok. I’ve tired this beef kroketten, I didn’t like it much. Funny story, this big bird was standing in front of the door and just kept looking at the restaurant. I’ve asked the worker here and he said this bird comes here everyday for food.
Ahmad — Google review
Great concept, you just tap your card and press on a button to get the food you want. Just keep in mind that they only accept card. The food and prices are okay. Really messy store during the nights and it litters down the whole neighbourhood.

Lebanese restaurant
Restaurant
The Lebanese Sajeria is a popular spot in Amsterdam, with two small, family-run eateries offering delicious Middle-Eastern wraps, soups, and desserts. The name of the eatery comes from the round grill called a saj used to bake flatbreads known as manoushes that encase flavorful fillings. The first location was an instant hit in the Nine Streets area, while the second one on Utrechtsestraat also serves alcohol.
We come here almost every week and it has become one of our favorite spots! The food is always fresh and healthy; the falafel with zaatar and the beef with labneh are absolute must-tries. Their soup is fantastic too, we never skip it. On top of that, the staff are incredibly kind and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. Highly recommended!
Den M — Google review
I tried both of their chicken and beef rolls with extra pickle and extra chilli. I can still feel the taste and I crave for those every day. I loved it. At peak time there is queue so you may need to wait but the wait was worth.
Mohammad K — Google review
This place has great rating and reasonable pricing. We stopped by during the afternoon to check out the place. There were quite a few people in line and some of them were returning for the 2nd time as the food was so good. That sealed it for us, as we were searching for our dinner location for the day. We ordered the Aubergine and Labneh (vegetarian) and Lamb Tarator Manousheh’s both were awesome. Fresh made bread followed with fresh ingredients. Really worth the wait. Would definitely come back and highly recommend the place for good bight.
Tushar M — Google review
The Lebanese Sajeria is a true hidden gem! The saj wraps are freshly baked, thin, and perfectly crispy, filled with flavorful and authentic ingredients that transport you straight to Lebanon. Every bite feels homemade and full of love. The staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, always making you feel at home, and the atmosphere is cozy yet vibrant — perfect for a quick bite or a casual meal with friends. If you’re looking for authentic Lebanese street food with high-quality ingredients and lots of flavor, this place is a must-try. I’ll definitely be coming back! 🌿🥙
Shant K — Google review
We were surprised by how tasty these were!!! There was so much flavor in both wraps. I had one with Chicken and Hummus and my husband had Beef and Labneh. Both of them were amazing but I think we both liked Beef & Labneh a bit more. The Labneh sauce was sooo creamy 🫶🏻 We will definitely come back to have this again and try other dishes too ☺️
Nhi D — Google review
I went today after looking for Lebanese food in Amsterdam and i also wanted something that is not heavy and would make me feel full at the same time and actually I was a little bit unsure how “lebanese” it would really taste like. I can easily say that it was perfect! The taste is so good the bread is fresh, the zaatar is so perfect with the Halumi i highly suggest! People there are nice too!
Badoor J — Google review
I have to round this one up to a 5. I got the lamb, but next time I would probably do the beef. I got the sourdough wrap and added pickles. The lamb for me was a 4, but I just chose wrong for me so I know I would have liked the beef. Too many nuts in the lamb for my taste. Location is very small, but not abnormal for Amsterdam.
David H — Google review
I went to THE LEBANESE SATERIA and tried everything. For me, the best were the eggplant manakish with labneh and the spicy meat with labneh and the spicy cheese —they were absolutely amazing! The staff were extremely friendly, making you want to come back again and again.

Cultureel Eetcafé 'Skek' is a student-run eco-friendly cafe located near Amsterdam's Red Light District. The restaurant offers a no-frills, mostly organic menu with generous portions of burgers, soups, salads, and mains. The dining room also serves as an art gallery for young talent. Visitors can enjoy live music nights and a laid-back atmosphere while being served by friendly student staff.
Great place! It is divided in two, a restaurant section and a bar section. I think the place is super cozy and the staff is sooo friendly and helpful. They are very fast and the food is great. The location is also super central and the prices are super nice! Definitely one of the places that I frequently visit!
Laura I — Google review
We were the first customers and we came here to have lunch. At first we thought the food was cheap when we looked at the menu but when we got our sandwiches we realized the price was expensive 🥲 Even though the sandwiches were delicious, they didn’t fill us up at all. We definitely expected more. We had to go to another place to get something extra. They definitely could’ve used more staffs. It was a Saturday and there was only 1 staff, so it took quite long for us to have our order. We’re open to come back here to try their dinner menu though. We also liked the vibe and the decoration here.
Nhi D — Google review
I’ve been a regular here for almost 4 years (when I’m in the Netherlands, I always stay nearby on Nieuwmarkt), and they’ve always treated me very well – I especially love their live music and the nice vibe. But tonight, when I stepped in just to buy a beer and go outside immediately, a waitress (short, with black hair and quite unfriendly) stopped me, saying bicycles weren’t allowed inside. I explained it was a unicycle (quite small), that I’d only be a moment—just to order—and would immediately rejoin everyone outside (the bar was completely empty). I offered to leave it on the landing. She refused: “Those are the rules—not even on the landing.” I ended up leaving my unicycle unsecured outside. Three minutes after stepping out with my beer, the same waitress told me I was “too far from the bar” (I was at the sidewalk curb!). Then, about 10 minutes later (not even 00:30), she yelled at everyone: “TERRACE CLOSING! ALL DRINKS INSIDE!” When I said I thought they closed at 1:00, she snapped: “Now!” (My mistake—closing of terrace probably is at 00:30, but her manner was the issue). Frustrated, I gulped down my beer as fast as possible, not waiting for her next command. Tonight, this bar felt more like a courthouse or police station than the alternative, LGBT-friendly space I’d always considered it to be. What a pity! 😔🫤 P.S. I've never had any problems getting in with my unicycle (which takes up less space than a folded stroller).
Osel G — Google review
Very informal, casual, gezellige ambiance. Truly feels like a safe space
Tyra — Google review
I always love the ambiance here! Cool people and a lot of students. The place feels accepting and open :)
Nynke N — Google review
Myself and my husband visited here after finding it in the happy cow app. We had the bread basket with houmous for the starter, then my husband had the skek burger and I had the jackfruit burger. Mine was out of this world, and my husband said the same. They have a small menu with a few vegan options, but what they have is great for bar food. The atmosphere was lovely, service was great, all round recommended.
Fiona B — Google review
My boyfriend and I have been here twice in our short stay in Amsterdam, each time we've been happy. Although their menu is short (varied toasted sandwiches and snacks) depending on the time of day, we really enjoyed the laidback atmosphere and relaxed staff. The prices are very fair for the portion sizes and the quality of the food. There are a few tables downstairs and a few tables outside. It seems to be student-run, and there is a 25% discount on food if you're a student.

Fou Fow Ramen has become a prominent part of Amsterdam's dining scene, with two locations on Elandsgracht and Van Woustraat. The restaurant offers a variety of delicious ramen dishes, including options for carnivores like the creamy pork bone Tonkotsu and the spicy Tan Tan Men. Vegetarians can also indulge in flavorful options made with kelp and dried shiitake.
Probably my favorite place to eat in Amsterdam for the last year and a half. All ramens are great, size large is amazing, I get a proper meal! People working there and kind and warm and atmosphere is always good and cozy, as many people are enjoying themselves!
Milan V — Google review
We went there really spontaneous for dinner and were happy that they still had a table for us. The restaurant is really cute and it has nice seating space outside (many people walk through it, a bit annoying). The menu offered many vegan options which was really nice! The ramen were okay but nothing special (the noodles were fine but the tofu didnt taste really fresh). All in all it was quiet okay and the prices were reasonable.
Zoe W — Google review
Small place for a quick ramen, there seems to be always queue but goes quite fast. Plenty of vegan option, gyoza were great! Ramen was tasty, will go again to try the non spicy version
Annalisa F — Google review
The vegetarian ramen was very tasty, though not the best I've tried in Amsterdam. Price-wise I was happy to see that there are more affordable options in the menu. The service was lovely, no comment on that. Overall certainly recommend coming here if you're in the area craving good ramen.
Diana H — Google review
It’s nothing super special, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it to my friends and definitely not wait hours in a que for it. The ramen, chicken, and broth were good, but I felt like the toppings were quite blank. It could’ve used some spring onion or some more veggies in general. I really enjoyed the side dish miso glazed eggplant though, however for 8,50 the portion was super small. The girl serving us was not smiling or friendly. Just did her job. So yeah, if you really want a quick and easy ramen it’s allright, but don’t expect fireworks ;)
Lieve — Google review
Delicious ramen, quick and friendly service. Good for 1-2 maybe 4 people but no more. Located on a busy corner, easy to get to from public transport. Open kitchen concept, €18 for the large ramen.

My friends and I were making our way to another ramen place (but realized it was closed that day) when we stumbled upon this gem. We were a table of three—two of which are vegetarian. They had great vegan/vegetarian options. Will order the lemon ginger ramen next time. 5 stars!
Marc G — Google review
The ramen here is very tasty, and they offer a dedicated gluten-free menu featuring gluten-free noodles and broth (options that are hard to find in this type of establishment). The staff is friendly and helpful, and the prices are fair. I definitely recommend it for everyone.

Surinamese restaurant
Warung Spang Makandra is a popular spot in Amsterdam, offering affordable and delicious Indonesian-Surinamese cuisine. With three locations across the city, it's known for its spicy curries, peanut sates, and Surinamese sandwiches. The restaurant was even featured on Anthony Bourdain's The Layover. Diners can enjoy dishes like saoto soup, beef rendang, and roti at very reasonable prices.
First time trying out Surinamese cuisine and it was simply excellent. We were craving Asian food during our long trip in Europe, and this place totally satisfied us. The flavours of each dish were unique and delicious, service was extremely friendly. We loved the platter which contains small portions of their signature items. Hot soup was a nice complement. The restaurant was bustling busy on a weekday evening. Although the wait wasn’t too long, I would make a booking in advance if visiting again in future.
Ash P — Google review
Spang Makandra is an absolute treasure in the heart of Amsterdam! I had never even heard of Surinamese cuisine before – but it turned out to be an absolute dream. The food was simply outstanding – full of flavor, fresh, and unlike anything I’ve ever tasted before (see my photos). Every bite felt like a new culinary discovery, and the quality and price are truly excellent. What makes this place even more special is its story and atmosphere. Since 1978, Spang Makandra has been bringing people together through the rich and diverse Surinamese cuisine, blending flavors from Indigenous, Creole, Indian, Javanese, Chinese, and European traditions. You can really feel that sense of connection and hospitality the moment you sit down. The staff are incredibly warm and welcoming – their energy adds so much to the experience (just look at their smiles in my pictures). Eating here felt like being part of something bigger: not just a meal, but a celebration of cultures coming together. Honestly, I wish we had a restaurant like this back in Austria – it would instantly be one of my favorites. If you’re in Amsterdam, don’t miss this place. Highly recommended!
Martin D — Google review
Great atmosphere and vibes. Staff are friendly and accommodating. We had the chicken satay and Spang Makandra special. Both dishes were really good. Peanuts were not as finely chopped but the texture was actually okay. The ginger and passionfruit juices were delicious. Servings were decent. All in all, great value for money. Lots of tables to accommodate groups of all sizes. We came during lunch without a reservation and did not have to wait long to be seated. We would happily eat here again and recommend this to others.
Mikaela M — Google review
I had dinner reservations at Warung Spang Makandra in a Friday night for 7:30 PM and the restaurant was incredibly busy and crowded. After we checked in, I think we wait about 10 minutes before being seated. Bakabana (fried plantain) - I loved plantains and peanuts so a fried plantain with a savory peanut sauce was right up my alley and it was delicious. The plantain was crispy on the outside but soft in the inside. One thing to note is that one order is an entire plantain so just something to keep in mind. Teloah (fried cassava with salt cod) - this was also delicious. It's like a French fry but different. We got it with the salt cod but I ended up dipping it in the peanut sauce from the fried plantain Spang Makandra Special (fried rice - noodles, chicken filet, chickens satay, long beans, egg, potato sambal and perkedel (fried potato)) - a really good entree for someone who wants to try a little bit of everything. The chicken satay was great Mixed Meat (chicken & lamb) Roti - this entree was huge and full of meat. You can pick which cuts of meat you want (ex. chicken filet vs chicken on the bone). Lots of different things to try with the curry and roti. Very delicious and filling A really fun and new experience with Suriname food. Definitely recommend trying if you haven't had this cuisine before.
Vivian A — Google review
Really delicious food with generous portions and decent prices. A dish and a glass of wine came to around €20 per person which is reasonable in central Amsterdam. It is worth noting how busy it can get so it is worth making a reservation.
Nanako — Google review
I would have given 5, but the fact that they do not give tap water only to charge people an extra 3 euros for bottled water is unaccaptable and very unsustainable as well. Water is a human right. How can you say you do not have tap water when someone is asking for water? You do have a tap and it has water running. Everything is great other than that but i am not okay with this nonsense policy. The staff at the welcome desk was the kindest person with a sense of humor.

The food is really really good 10/10. Flavour is there, portion sizes are good. I see why Anthony Bourdain talked about this place so highly. The waiter was another story. Wearing all black with a black cap. As I do get it was lunch rush and really busy but he was really condescending and rude when I would ask questions. Plus gave me no time to check the menu when I sat down so I asked for more time and he came back an hour later even after calling him multiple times. Definitely wanted to rush me out of there as a solo diner. All the other staff there were there were amazing and kind and accommodating just not him lol.

I went here on a Friday night having booked in advance. The place is very popular, and booking is advised. Food was delicious and I definitely ordered too much. But I was by myself and wanted to try many things. I had the chicken satay, the plantain, the yuca fries and the mixed roti main. First 2 were my favourite and the bill came up to €35. Now for the part I didn't enjoy. Staff didn't seem to care at all. Maybe part of it was how popular the restaurant is. But it took 5 minutes to be seated even with a booking, 5 minutes to realise I don't have a menu, 10 more minutes for someone to take my order and I tried the whole time to order a beer but that never materialised. When I finally got someone's attention to order a drink they said a colleague will take my order which didn't happen. I am a bit disappointed by this since everything else was good.

Spaghetteria is a popular budget-friendly pasta bar with eight locations across Amsterdam, including three cafes. The restaurant serves traditional Italian pasta dishes made with organic flour and offers six classic options on the menu, with three rotating daily. They also have vegetarian, meat, fish, and gluten-free variations. The cozy and inviting atmosphere features wooden tables and an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs prepare your meal.
Spaghetteria is a hidden gem in Amsterdam you have to visit. I went with my friends and honestly, it was incredible. Fresh handmade pasta, and the kind of cozy authentic vibe that makes you want to stay for hours. The staff was lovely, the flavors were nice and comforting, and every dish felt like a little trip to Italy. If you’re in Amsterdam and craving good pasta in a cool, casual setting — this is the spot. Can’t wait to go back!

Food was not bad. The pasta was cooked al dente and the burratta was a good appetizer. Other than that the only con is that were a lot of people so waiting for our food took a while

Very nice place to have some drinks with friends. Always a nice reception, even just before closing time. Food is simple, but good as well if you're there earlier on the evening. Definitely recommend😃

Some of the best pasta I have ever enjoyed. We arrived around 8pm on a Sunday and got a table for 2 within minutes of arriving - and it was very busy. We had wine recommendations and the waiter read the entire menu to us in English which was tremendous. Lovely experience, great atmosphere.

The place it's really nice, good atmosphere, a little bit crowded, but I believe that a restaurant with good food will always be full of clients enjoying their food. The staff was friendly, they recommended me a good dry white wine for my spaghetti. You will find only 4 or 5 types of pasta and 1 desert. I ordered the spaghetti with sea fruits. They were so good, tasty and so well done. For sure I will get back to this place, it was a pleasure to enjoy a dinner here.

Love this place. Delicious pasta with seasonal options, one of the best tiramisu I’ve ever tried in my life. Also drink selection is impressive. The only thing I don’t like is that you want to order more to try but can’t stop and end up really full 😂 So be careful with that because portions are really big

If you are looking for some food that packs a punch try this place out. Right off Rembrandtplein (great area for nightlife) the food was quick and the premise clean. You get to choose your base rice/noodles etc, protein/veg of choice, sauce & topping and they do a quick stir fry for you at your spice level preference 👍👍 great stuff! Open late

I know the customer is not always right, but we had a bad experience where we were double charged for some parts of our selection. Instead of admitting the mistake and being refunded we were told that there were double prawns etc in our food. The food was actually ok (I know this is hard to get wrong), and filled a late afternoon sized snack hole. But poor service always leaves a bad taste!

Like other people mentioned, large portions. I got the vegetable base with beef and shiitake mushroom add ons. Solid take-out food and they stir-fry it on the wok in front of you! Friendly staff who like to joke around, seem pretty happy, good vibes.

The food here is amazing. Fresh ingredients. It feels mostly local here and it’s a bit out of the tourist area. Monique, the owner is lovely. So happy to find a warm place to have a bite to eat that feels authentically Amsterdam.

Cozy place, but average food. They have a nice concept of paying for 2,3 or 4 dishes and choosing anything from the menu. Good opportunity to try various things from the menu. Portions aren’t big, which explains lower prices. I think it’s still a good value for your money. But food isn’t outstanding- in the end, it’s a simple brunch place, no stylish- fancy- servings. Their sandwiches look just like… sandwiches :)

I loved having breakfast here. The place is very cosy and the staff is wonderful. Everyone was smiling and cheerful, which made my lazy and sleepy morning a lot better. There was a cat sleeping on one of the seats 😍 the food was delicious made with fresh ingredients. I was there on a Monday morning and most tables were taken, which only shows that it's a place serving good food and popular regardless of the time and day of the week.

Very good restaurant with tasty food. They’re gluten free options and you can have free tap water with the drinks ☺️ the waitress (and owner) is very nice. A very cozy place, I would have come for brunches or to read a book 😃

What a fun place for brunch / lunch! The concept really is picnic-like: You order 2, 3, or 4 items from a good-sized list of sandwiches, soups, salads, and hot dishes such as quiche, and the staff brings out a single plate with all your small portions. Everything we had was delicious, but my favorite was probably the quiche. Dessert was also tasty. Of course, this is all enhanced by the presence of Pedro the cat, who visits from a nearby establishment. We were lucky enough to be seated next to Pedro's blanket, which meant we got to enjoy petting him and just being in his presence! Reservations recommended for weekends.

La Perla Pizzeria is a popular spot in Jordaans Little Italy, known for its thin-and-crispy Roman-style pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven. Since 2009, they have been serving up some of the best pizzas in town, using imported produce from Italy such as buffalo mozzarella, nduja, and cinta senese fennel salami.
Absolutely the most delicious dinner of my entire trip! The freshly made pizza was incredible, and the pizza chef was amazing—tossing the dough with impressive skill! I highly recommend dining in, no matter how long the wait for a table—it’s totally worth it! We even got a delicious tiramisu to end the meal. Thank you so much! The pizza was so good, we came back two days in a row!

They offer wood-oven Italian pizza that was very delicious and flavorful. The kitchen is across from the restaurant and also handles takeout orders. The staff were very friendly, and we truly enjoyed the experience

Highly recommend this lovely cozy restaurant! Went there on a Sunday around 15:30, no reservation was needed. We had the salad verde which needed no oil or vinegar. It was super fresh and felt like biting into a cloud! Then we got a Margherita and Puttanesca, both excellent. The mozzarella was so fresh and smooth, and the sauce was a perfect balance of acidity and sweetness. We got a karaf of red wine which was amazing and the waiter was super friendly and welcoming. 10/10 experience, definitely revisiting<3 Thank you La Perla

It's a pizzeria a bit above average for Amsterdam. The prices are also a bit higher. It's comprised of two shops facing each other: a bakery on one side and a restaurant on the other. The pizzas are for one and a half people, but if you're not too hungry, they'll serve two.

Great pizzas! Atmosphere was on point, good relaxing music to set the mood, the pizzas had a great under carriage with a thin but very tasty crust. Not too much and not too little toppings aswell, just perfect. Customer service was also pretty good. Would recommend

If you're in the mood for some crispy jacket potatoes, then be sure to check out Jacketz in Amsterdam. Offering a large variety of toppings and sauces, these guys know how to put together a delicious plate. With prices that may seem a bit higher than the competition, it's definitely worth checking out what this Dutch restaurant has to offer.
HUGE portion of soft and fluffy potato! Highly recommend the crispy bacon bits add-on, cheese and the garlic sauce! Staff were polite and swift!
Jun N — Google review
It's a cosy place, but it's very tiny, which makes it a bit awkward, because it's hard to fit at the tables, you have to keep an eye on someone passing by. While we were there, at least 50 people were turned away because they couldn't sit down because the place was full. We waited a very long time for our food, it took 1 hour from ordering to getting it, one portion was already cold, the other was warm because I asked for melted cheese on top. Otherwise it was delicious. But the service staff is impeccable, the guy who is there is really good, he was nice to everyone, smiled, friendly service, so hats off to him!

It is what it says on the tin.. A jacket potato! Great filling meal. I had the stew on a full jacket and it filled the hunger after walking round. Small quaint place, slow service to begin with but there was only 2 members of staff here at the lunchtime service. Whilst the food was lovely, not sure if €40 for 2 potatos and 2 drinks is a bit much.

Enormous potato! So delicious! I think this may be the best potato dish I have ever eaten. Menu allows you to choose your own favourite set of fillings, toppings and sauces. There are meat, fish and vegetarian options. Few tables are outside near the canal so you have a beautiful view if you sit there. Inside you can also found safe lockers where you can charge your phone! Nicely done. I honestly can recommend this place. I will come back there if I have a chance!
Michalina P — Google review
These jacket potatoes were divine. I highly recommend the chili con carne filling, it was absolutely delicious. The portions are quite big and the staff is very helpful.
Paola T — Google review
Incredibly tasty potatoes at a nice price. The portions are large. The restaurant seems small, but there are still places below and on the street. In the evening, the cafe hype. Very busy. Most likely this is due to the very close location to the central station and affordable price. The potato is very large, the dishes are decorated beautifully, seasoned with grass and cheese. There are different variations. You can collect the ingredients yourself, but you can choose a ready-made combination with meat, fish or vegetables. Light beer is tasty and at a price like everywhere else 5 euros. On average, for two you can meet 20 euros without algokogol. We have very sensitive stomachs and this restaurant has shown high quality food. Friendly staff are also here. Of the minuses - sticky tables, I do not know why. Clean but sticky. If the weather is nice, then it’s better to sit outside, here the tables are good. The toilets are very clean. I will be back here every time I am in Amsterdam. thank
Илья Т — Google review
The good is just wow, the best potato I’ve ever had. Well recommended. One thing to point out - is service, the staff didn’t care much about us, they were passing by us several times with no attention to our side, I was quite upset, to order the food we needed to go to the cash to approach staff to take our order. But we were happy with the food in the end. The prices are reasonable.

A very awesome restaurant! I was recommended this place and am so very glad I came here. The interior is quite nice and comfy and very clean. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and great with quick service. The portions are very generous and the quality is top notch. Some may see it a little more pricey for their taste but the service and quality and portions more than deserve the price. It was a real treat to visit here with friends and I guarantee I will visit here every time I visit this wonderful City.

The open kitchen allows diners to witness the skilled chefs working over sizzling woks as they prepare regional specialties like yam kai jang.
This is my favorite spot when it comes to Thai food in Amsterdam. Absolutely fantastic experience! It's usually very crowded so it's normal to eat close by strangers. Food quality is excellent and prices are very honest for quantity too. This is a place for locals, don't miss it if you are around!

They were busy but you can tell they cater to the bigger parties. The food was great when grandma is in the kitchen but I reordered a chicken satay and the second time it tasted nothing like the first & that’s because grandma was taking a lunch break right next to my table. Make sure grandma is cooking for the most flavorful Thai food ever. Highly recommend dipping the spare ribs in the peanut sauce- next level flavor

This little gem is a winner when it comes to decent food. The food was pretty decent and the price was even better for somewhere in central Amsterdam. Just a short walk from the bulldog coffee shop is is on a busy walking route. We went when it was as 29c outside, there was 2 of us and they sat us next to another couple in what can be described as the worlds smallest restaurant It was a sweat box. Managing to then get a space on the bench outside and it so much better. Had the Tom Yum and it was pretty decent. Not the best I’ve had but very close Also we had the Massaman curry and it was really good. We shared on dish between 2 and it was just enough Would go back there. Staff were good. Only one nice guy the folk in the kitchen were having a bad day and were a bit rude.

The Thai street food tastes just like eating in Thailand. The chef and service staff are Thai. I recommend the stir-fried beef with basil. The basil flavor is hot and spicy.I love it ❤️😊.I will definitely go back.

There are several waiters and they don't pay attention to the customers. I don't recommend it, it was just horrible, they could see that my friend was having lunch but at no time did they come to ask me and the other customers were served as they went along. In addition they are not accommodating in the food we asked for a dish without meat and the dish of my friend arrived with sickening pieces of meat . 🤮 Besides I never got my ordered dish.
Zénab T — Google review
I had dinner here and it was a mixed experience. I ordered the Tom Yam Koeng and the Kou Pad "BIRD" Luom Mid. The Kou Pad was excellent - a flavorful and well-executed dish that we really enjoyed. However, the Tom Yam Koeng was a bit of a letdown. It didn't taste like the traditional Tom Yam I had in Thailand, perhaps it's a Dutch adaptation of the dish. The restaurant itself is very small, and it was quite hot inside, which made the dining experience a bit uncomfortable. There were a few benches outside, which would be a better option on a nice day. Overall, if you're looking for a quick and tasty Thai meal, this is a decent option, but don't expect a completely authentic Thai taste, especially with their Tom Yam.

Before connecting with Johan, I had spoken with another employee who was unfortunately very rude and unwilling to help. When I asked if she could check something for me, she simply said “no” and left it at that. It was very discouraging. Thankfully, I tried again and got Johan....what a complete difference! (Translated by Google) At STACH on Hoogoorddreef in Amsterdam, I stumbled upon a chicken and avocado sandwich that far exceeded my expectations. As soon as I walked in, the fresh and modern look was immediately striking: plenty of light, clean lines, and a cozy counter stocked with snacks and coffee syrups. The menu is displayed large and clearly above the bar, allowing you to leisurely choose from the wide variety of sandwiches and drinks. I chose the Chicken and Avocado sandwich, and it proved to be a hit. The photo shows the firm, freshly baked multigrain baguette, generously filled with tender chicken pieces, spicy seasonings, and a generous layer of creamy avocado. What I really appreciated was the generous use of avocado—full, creamy, and perfectly ripe. The fresh arugula on top made it all deliciously crunchy. From the first bite, you can immediately taste that this sandwich is freshly made; the chicken was juicy and well-seasoned, without being overpowering. The atmosphere at STACH is relaxed and modern, with friendly staff who work quickly and cheerfully, even during the busier lunchtimes. Besides sandwiches, they also offer a wide selection of coffees, iced drinks, and small snacks like banana bread or Florentines – perfect for takeaway. This location is also easy to reach: Hoogoorddreef is located in the heart of Amsterdam Zuidoost, close to offices and public transport. Parking nearby can be a bit tricky, so the metro or bike is recommended. Fun fact: STACH is known for its changing specials, and I also saw the Lebanese Sajeria Special on the menu. That makes it worth coming back often to try new combinations. My tip: definitely try the chicken avocado sandwich if you like savory, spicy, and richly filled. Order an iced latte or homemade lemonade for the perfect lunch break.

Restaurant
Nestled in the vibrant Jordaan district of Amsterdam, Winkel 43 is a charming café that has become a beloved spot for both locals and visitors alike. This cozy establishment buzzes with life from morning until night, offering an inviting atmosphere complemented by a delightful menu featuring hearty European snacks, lunches, and dinners. However, it’s the legendary Dutch apple pie that truly steals the show!
After spending 10 days in Europe, this was the best meal we had on the entire trip!! This is my favorite restaurant in Europe (so far)! We are vegetarians, and my wife and I found both of our dishes to be delicious! We also really enjoyed the pie, and that is a huge compliment coming from my wife, who doesn’t it like pie in general but said this was the best pie she had ever had! I can’t wait to eat here again!
Jacob M — Google review
Amazing apple pie served right from the oven. Along with a delicious double espresso or cappuccino, among other available beverages. If you love pie just have to come this cute little place. Will definitely come again in the near future.
Hanif M — Google review
Any travel guide in Amsterdam will tell you to stop by Winkel for their famous apple pie, and it’s absolutely worth it. I’m not even an apple pie fan, but this one was really, really good. The crust, the filling, everything was perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. Yes, there’s a long line, but they run the place like a well-oiled machine. The line moves quickly, the pies are constantly coming out fresh, and the drinks are made in no time. If you get lucky and snag a seat outside, you can enjoy your dessert while people watching. Inside seating is nice too, especially by the window, though the space itself isn’t particularly special. Still, it’s a must-try spot in Amsterdam. Definitely worth the stop for a slice of their iconic apple pie.

Tried the famous apple pie at Winkel 43 in Amsterdam — absolutely loved it! You get a big, warm, fresh, and delicious slice. I had mine with whipped cream and a hot chocolate, which cost me €10 in total. There were about 30 people in line when I joined around 5 PM on a Saturday, but the service was super efficient and the queue moved quickly.
Nimsara S — Google review
Very busy place - not a bad thing just something to note. I found the cafe too dark for my preference and I couldn’t see the food I was eating which is pretty important to me for the full experience. I know this doesn’t matter to some so personal preference. The apple pie was okay. Definitely tastes home made which is good, and had a very crunchy crust which I like. It was room temperature which, didn’t taste fresh out of the oven. I like mine to be at least warm. It did come extremely fast though, I imagine they just have the pies on plates ready to go. It’s also not too sweet. But I wouldn’t say it’s the best or anything. Just good, not great, in my opinion. I’ve had ones I enjoy more. The bitterballen on the other hand was really good. Best I’ve had so far. They were piping hot and tasted fresh. They pair really well with the mustard sauce provided.
Seth I — Google review
Came because of the hype and a recommendation from a local friend of ours and this place’s apple pie reputation is very well deserved. We came at a good time so we were seated right away (2 people). Service was a bit slow because of the amount of people so it’s understandable. The pie itself was fantastic. No words to describe how good it was, so I rate it 10/10 for ruining apple pies for me because I don’t think I can get it anywhere else that’s this good. The coffee was good as well!

This is such a cute, cosy cafe ! The queues can be long but moves quite fast. It’s nice to sit outside too. The cake is delicious and I love the mint tea they have. Would definitely come back ! I’d say get somebody with you etc to sit at the table whilst you order (to sit outside etc).

Great place to taste apple pie… queues can get long but they have outdoor seating too! The slices are quite big so sharing between 2 would work! Highly recommended!

Dutch restaurant
Moeders, which means "mothers" in Dutch, is a charming restaurant in Amsterdam that offers a unique dining experience. The establishment is adorned with photos of mothers and antiques, creating a quirky and cozy atmosphere. While it may not be the most budget-friendly option, Moeders provides great value for money with generous portion sizes and authentic home-cooked Dutch cuisine.
Make reservations early. Small place and seems to always be full. Great food and good service. Spare ribs were on point and my wife had the salmon. She said it was done perfectly. Apple pie is delightful too
Blake T — Google review
Moeders is a very famous restaurant in Amsterdam — it’s one of the go-to spots for traditional Dutch food. If you want to experience authentic Dutch home-style dishes, this is definitely the place to try. Be sure to make a reservation, as it’s popular with both locals and tourists and fills up quickly. We tried the pea soup, ribs, and beef stew — all were decent. The white asparagus soup, however, had a sour asparagus flavor that I couldn’t quite figure out. Overall, Moeders serves comforting, home-style food rather than refined Western cuisine, so if you’re looking for something fancy, this might not be it. The dishes and bowls also look quite well-used — you can really feel the restaurant’s history 😂.
Jo A — Google review
If I could, I’d give 10/5! An amazing concept restaurant with delicious Dutch cuisine. You should definitely try the “Dutch rice dish” the portion is generous, and the beef with its sauce… I don’t even have enough words to describe it, you just have to try it! I came to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, and the staff were so warm and welcoming. They offered us a dessert and a shot of Dutch liquor while singing Happy Birthday. We’re so glad we chose Moeders for this special day ❤️ Thank you for everything ❤️your kindness, your warm welcome, and above all, your DELICIOUS cuisine!
Yağmur A — Google review
I actually don’t know how to rate it, I know it’s more traditional Dutch food, which means I should know what I’m getting. But still, I have to say the quality of the dishes are not the best. The “lobster” soup was very very salty (I use “” because it’s shrimp). And the vegetarian Stampot was alright, but it’s nearly first time for me to not to finish my plate, not because of the portion, just pretty… boring. Anyway, we were there to see the interior and just to experience, so I guess food is less the point. Right, the slot for reservation is 1.5h, but because the main course was served very late, we didn’t have time for desert.
Xijia L — Google review
Service was incredibly great, people are really friendly, pleasantries and jokes were exchanged between us and the staff. Food was amazing too, highly recommended the lobster soup and bitterballen!!! We also ordered the Rijstafel but given that my friend and I were both not big eaters, we couldn’t finish it at all. Love the meat stew in the Rijstafel set and also the grilled potatoes were yummy. Highly recommended this place :)
SP G — Google review
The ambiance and location of the restaurant is so good. We ordered 5 Dutch Ricedishes. I think there was a lot of variety of potato in it so it was not so fantastic, you need to be aware of it. Tastes of the meaty foods were so great. We went there without reservation but in the crowded days it might be problem.
Furkan S — Google review
Moeder’s is the definition of a true Dutch dining experience… cozy, warm, and full of character. We decided to let the staff choose our dishes, and honestly, they nailed it. We started with the green pea soup, which was way better than I expected. It was hearty, savory, and had this subtle smoky flavor that made it feel like comfort in a bowl. For the main course, we got the Hollandse Rijsttafel (Dutch rice dish), which came with all the traditional classics. The portions were generous, easily enough for two people. The meat was incredibly tender and flavorful, the potatoes perfectly cooked, and surprisingly, the applesauce stole the show for me. It wasn’t overly sweet and somehow tied all the other flavors together perfectly. The atmosphere is charming and intimate, with tables placed close enough that it almost feels like a big family gathering in the best way. If you’re looking for a spot to experience authentic Dutch comfort food, Moeder’s is absolutely worth it.
Paige R — Google review
A very popular spot in Amsterdam. They have a nice original system where you sit outside and can order snacks and drinks whilst you wait for a table to order from menu. Located on the outer Amsterdam you avoid all the hassling. The restaurant has a lovely theme of 1000s of framed photos of mothers and children. A lovely atmosphere. Food was good, service great and food nice. Price as expected. Worth a visit.

Omelegg - City Centre is renowned for its exceptional omelettes in Amsterdam. The menu offers an extensive selection of omelette flavors, catering to diverse preferences. In addition to their specialty, the eatery also provides alternative options for non-omelette enthusiasts. As the first omeletterie in the Netherlands, Omelegg takes pride in satisfying egg cravings from 7 AM onwards.
As a huge omelette fan, most of my omelette encounters have been at hotel breakfast buffets — decent, but nothing to write home about. So when I heard about Omelegg, a restaurant entirely dedicated to omelettes, my curiosity was instantly piqued. Let me just say… coming here was one of the best dining decisions I’ve ever made. I ordered the “Farm Boy”, and wow — it lives up to its name. Perfectly cooked, fluffy, and generously packed with all sorts of goodness — bacon, veggies, and more. The portion was massive, easily enough for two people. But since I arrived hungry and ready, I devoured the whole thing without hesitation. The place was fully packed when I arrived at 2.30pm, so I had to wait across the street on a tiny lane, surrounded by curious passers-by wondering why I was standing there. Thankfully, the wait was only about 20 minutes, and as soon as a table opened up, I was warmly welcomed inside. Omelegg serves omelettes all day from 7am-4pm Mon-Fri, and 8am-4pm Sat and Sun, so you can enjoy these incredible dishes from morning until mid-afternoon. I spent about half an hour here, and every minute was worth it. Omelegg isn’t just a place to eat — it’s a full experience. I’ll definitely be coming back on my next trip to Amsterdam.

Amazing breakfast spot in Amsterdam! The omelettes are creative and delicious, with plenty of choices. I had to wait around 30 minutes for a table, but it was definitely worth it. Quick service once seated and very friendly staff. A perfect place to start the day — highly recommended!
Myat K — Google review
Great eggs restaurant with a lot of variety. We ordered the greek wedding and it was fine and the salmon deluxe and it was delicious and the baked potatoes which was a bit tasteless. The service was quick and the line outside was packed but only took us 20 mins to get a table. The atmosphere is like your typical morning breakfast restaurants where it is fast paced and seated in tiny tables that are right next to each other where you can hear the fun conversations people are having.
Ahmed A — Google review
Came here on my birthday for breakfast and found the experience to be decent, though I thought the food was overpriced, and in my opinion, undercooked. The inside of the omelette, when cut open, was incredibly runny. I’ve seen French and Japanese style omelettes cooked this way, but honestly it gave me such a bad stomach ache and texture-wise really put me off. I wish they gave you an option for how cooked you want the eggs. I had the Popeye with jalapeños. Service was good and quick. Highlight of the meal was definitely the bread on the side - softest bread I’ve had in my 5 years living in Amsterdam!! The servers wouldn’t tell me where they bought it from though - trade secrets I suppose. Bread and team were great, eggs less so.
Phoebe D — Google review
The shop has a big variety of omelettes and coffee, which is what drew me in. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t match the menu. The place felt quite congested, and the service was disappointing. We waited for 20mins outside shop standing in rain. The cashier lady first allotted us a table, but when more people came in, she asked us to move to another one—and even called us selfish when we hesitated. That really crossed the line. I didn’t felt comfortable sitting in that environment, so I packed my food and left. The food was decent and the server guy was kind, but the attitude and service of employees here definitely need serious improvement.
Simrat C — Google review
The place is very cute and cozy, thanks to some luck we didn't have to wait to sit. We ordered and after some minutes everything was ready, very fast! The food was really good, especially my scrambo royale, also the apple juice was really liked. The only bad thing is that they didn't let us split the bill so one of us had to pay for everything, i don't know why :(
Alessandra — Google review
Great selection of eggs for every taste and whim. Either build your own from the ingredients listed or get one of their house specials. Everything we has was fantastic. The coffee is good too. Please note that the place is tiny and you might have to wait.

If you're on the hunt for authentic Flemish-style fries in Amsterdam, look no further than Vlaams Friteshuis Vleminckx. This beloved takeaway spot has been delighting locals and visitors alike since 1957, serving up perfectly crispy fries presented in charming cardboard cones. With an impressive selection of over 25 sauces to choose from—ranging from zesty lemon mayonnaise to rich peanut satay—you can customize your snack just the way you like it.
Amazing crispy fries. They were fresh and full of flavor. I added the fries sauce + samurai sauce + ketchup and it was a great combination. They have variety of sauces to choose from too. The queue was ling but very fast (only 5 mins). Definitely one of the good fries in Amsterdam.

Frites were pretty salty. Looks like the frites weren't sufficiently mixed. The crunchiness was good. They top your fries with onions on ask. A small shop corner without much personality.

My friend always insists that I come to this particular chip shop, he really likes it and always recommends it. I think the chips and sauces are very high quality, but a bit far away from the station of the Amsterdam Central. But if is your first time in Amsterdam it's really recommend , but after you visit once you can find allot of french fries on the way nearest to the Amsterdam Central Station.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Vleminckx – iconic Dutch fries spot 🍟 If you’re in Amsterdam, this place is a must! The fries are crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, freshly made right in front of you — pure comfort food heaven 😍 I tried them with the Hannibal sweet onion sauce, and OMG… that mix of creamy, tangy, slightly spicy onion flavor is next-level 🤤🔥 Totally addicting! The portion was generous, service super quick, and the whole vibe is that old-school Amsterdam street-food charm.

INCREDIBLE FRIES! I tried fries in Brussels, Ghent, and Bruges. They were all good, but these were the best. U went with the recommended sauce “OORLOG MIX” which was peanut sauce, mayo, topped with onion. 10/10 easy.

I love the experience of getting fries from a little kiosk around a corner. It just feels so fun so local! Our only regret was not getting a large fry. They were the perfect crispy without being burnt, fresh, and the perfect thickness. The service was fast and efficient didn’t even wait in line that long!

Sugo offers a convenient solution for those who want to enjoy high-quality pizza on the go. Their specialty is pizza al taglio, which is a rectangular pizza served in small slices, perfect for snacking or as a main course. The pizzas are known for their incredibly crispy dough and fresh ingredients. Customers can mix and match flavors, with options like mushroom, Formagio (a cheese combination), chicken pesto, and caramelized onions with black olives.
The dough is really good, the toppings (depending on the pizza) can be great. The caramelized onions and walnuts is definitely a great choice. The small option (2 slices) is more than enough if you aren’t too hungry. 👍🏼

Had to keep waiting hour for getting order and pizza. Self-serviced drink and picked up pizza from downstairs. Pizza tastes fine, but the experience was negative.
Nick N — Google review
The pizza here is good but it is way too expensive. Me and my girlfriend came here just for a quick little snack. So we both ordered one slice and a coke. This cost us 20 euros which is a ridiculous price (see picture to see how big 2 slices put together are), although the pizza did definitely taste very good! I do have to say that both the atmosphere and service were a bit lacking, the place felt a little dead. Trying this place out was definitely worth it but I would only recommend people to check it out if they are not on a budget.

Restaurant
Welcome to Happyhappyjoyjoy, a vibrant culinary haven where Asian flavors come alive under a canopy of red umbrellas. This delightful eatery, the brainchild of renowned Chef Julius Jaspers, showcases an array of dishes influenced by Thai, Malay, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Chinese, and Korean cuisines. Perfect for sharing with friends or indulging solo, their menu features mouthwatering dim sum specialties like steamed dumplings and bao buns—especially famous is the duck bao bun!
Amazing and uniquely designed food, with great choice between all Asian cuisine as well as fusion and local. Waiting time wasn’t long and we found a place for two even without booking although it’s recommended. The atmosphere is incredible and the decorations are one of a kind. Worth the price, although it’s not the most expensive.

The restaurant looks nice, small plates type. Service was a bit slow, it was quite hard to get the server's attention (server's always changed). I felt like it was a bit of a rip-off, servers were pointing out the most expensive stuff on the menu and prices are too high for what you get. Ramen - not very tasty Burger - delicious Dim sum - delicious Juice - delicious

Good Asian Restaurant in Amsterdam. Really enjoyed the bao buns. The staff was quick, attentive and friendly. Besides the bao buns and the dumplings (dim sum) we also had some red curry, spring rolls and the pad thai. The pad thai was my least favourite but still good. Overall a great place. Worth a visit if you are in Amsterdam. They also have other locations in the city.

What a fun and literally joyful establishment! The decor is enough to bring a smile on ones face. Add to that the good service and delicious variations on Asian streetfood and you will definitely leave happy. There are enough great options for vegetarians. Definitely a must. Thumbs up!

Variety of food (Thai, Indonesian, Malay and Chinese) to choose from the different courses. Food was good but the service of the staff stood out as very friendly and helpful as they also accomodated my request to replace the baby corn with the bamboo shoots in one of my dish. Recommended for a nice Asian cuisine experience.

A mix of dishes from Asian countries. Best dim sum I've had in amsterdam. The crispy shrimp balls were amazing, so were the steamed scallop dumplings. If you've got room go for a dessert you won't be disappointed.

Great service and friendly staff. Most of the dishes I tried are super tasty. Make sure to have a reservation if you’re a mid size party or larger. Great for drinks as well. For more experiences like this follow @quiquinnv

Burger Bar is a popular late-night spot in Amsterdam, with seven branches across the city. Most locations are open until midnight during the week and until 1:00 am on weekends. What sets Burger Bar apart is its customizable burger options, allowing patrons to choose from a variety of patties, sauces, and toppings. In addition to classic Angus beef and crispy chicken burgers, they also offer vegan options such as falafel and portobello mushroom burgers.
I visited Burger Bar and was truly impressed! The welcome was perfect — the staff were friendly and professional. The burger was absolutely delicious: top-quality meat, perfectly cooked, with crispy, flavorful cheddar that made every bite amazing. The fries were fantastic, crispy and well-seasoned. A special mention goes to Jacopo, who expertly explained the origin and preparation of the meats — such passion and attention to detail are rare to find. An excellent experience all around: quality, service, and atmosphere. I highly recommend trying it — you won’t be disappointed!

I ordered The Real Bite, it tasted decent, they did however forget the lettuce. The bacon tasted quite good. The fries are crispy. They do sometimes forget something.

The smash from hell burger was very tasty. The cheese was nicely melted and there was the perfect amount of sauce. It was a little expensive for a burger without fries or salad but it's a good option if you're in the city.

I had the Protein Bomb and Classic burgers — they were very delicious! Both looked appetizing, and I wanted to try them right away. The bun was soft and tasty, and the burgers were light and not greasy. I’m very satisfied! 😊

I have tried their burger menu, and it was so huge that I couldn’t even finish it! Considering how expensive Amsterdam is, Burger Bar is really affordable! Their food quality is great, the service and staff are very friendly!

Went for a late lunch and we tried beef and chicken burgers. Even though I’m a beef burger guy, I liked the chicken one. It was a bit expensive (maybe this is Amsterdam)! We’ll come back again.

Kind of a small place, but what the it might lack in size it more than makes up for in flavour. The burgers are juicy and delightful. One could get lost in their voluptuous layers, and the service is just as warm and inviting as the food itself.

Latei is a funky cafe in central Amsterdam that offers a unique experience for vintage treasure hunters and food enthusiasts alike. The cafe's vintage-themed decor, including retro knick-knacks, lampshades, and embroideries, are mostly for sale, making it hard to leave empty-handed. With shabby-chic furniture and curiosities adorning two cozy floors and a small terrace with street-side seating, Latei exudes a 1960s rock & roll vibe.
Great sandwiches and coffee. Nice interior design i really like it. Also nice staff and we met also the owner he was very kind.

Small place full of simple and fulfilling dishes! A great part of the menu serves different types of dutch sandwiches (I ordered the homemade hummus, it was really really nice). Nice option around the area, the decoration is very interesting. It seems like a great place to chat and feel present (without the need of a cellphone)! Almost everything tries to be organic and a lot of the menu is also homemade!

I love this place so much, we went three times in our visit to Amsterdam because we coudn't have enough. The food is delicious, the place itself has so much character (I found it inspiring), the staff are friendly. I enjoyed drawing little bit of this quirky colorful Amsterdam jewel on my notebook and I will remember their aesthetics forever.

I can't say enough good about this place! I ate there 2 or 3 times while in Amsterdam and everything is fresh. One the way in each morning they pick up their bread for the day fresh from a local bakery. They will even fresh squeeze a combination of quite a few fruits and veggies into a juice for you. It's a must visit if you are ever in Amsterdam!

Went there for breakfast and fell in love. The ambience was unbelievable. It’s such a cute cafe. I ate fried eggs served with hartog bread with salami. It was pretty good. I also drank basil-lime lemonade. It was probably one of the best drinks I’ve ever tasted. If I ever come to Amsterdam again, I will definitely go to this cafe.

De Pizzabakkers is a popular chain of pizzerias in Amsterdam, with five locations across the city. They are known for their carefully selected Italian ingredients and wood-burning ovens that produce some of the finest thin crust pizzas in town. The menu features a refined selection of pizzas topped with fresh cheese, meats, and veggies, along with classic Italian dishes like bruschetta and tiramisu.
A cosy little pizzeria with a relaxed neighbourhood vibe. The pizzas are on the crispier side with the Pepperoni Da Noi offering stacks of flavour. Meanwhile the sprinkle of olive oil & sea salt on the pistachio gelato was a fine addition to finish.

This cozy pizza spot is perfectly located next to a charming little park and a peaceful canal. Lovely idea for grabbing a pizza and enjoying it outdoors when the sun is out. They serve a variety of delicious pizzas, including a special “Pizza of the Month” that’s always worth trying. What I really appreciate is their attention to different dietary preferences. They have tasty vegan options. Plus, they offer Italian soft drinks like Italian cola and ltalian beers and prosecco, which adds authentic touch to the meal. The interior is beautifully designed and they even have a dedicated takeaway counter so you don’t have to wait long if you’re in a hurry. Highly recommend this place whether you're a pizza fan, a vegan foodie, or just looking for a great spot to enjoy good food by the water! Forgot to mention. Very cozy little pizza restaurant. The atmosphere is nice. They have Italian style pizzas, and some special Italian starters. I really liked the eggplant-cheese-mousaka-like starter (I cannot remember the name sorry!). We had the pizza with mushroom and bacon. We loved this bakery, despite it being a chain. Small, quaint, neighborhood cafe. The bagels (salmon & cream cheese and a pesto tomato avocado) were delicious and the coffee was great as well (cappuccino). We ate outside along the canal. A very pleasant breakfast experience.
Todd D — Google review
Perfect location with seating next to the canal. I don’t know did the servers forgot that they have tables outside also or what, but we and some other clients waited up to 20 minutes to order. Outside tables were filthy and they didn’t clean them, even though they saw it. Food took around 20 minutes to arrive. Coffees were cold as they brought them. Bagels were good, but with overall experience not worth it.

Maoz Vegan is a vegan restaurant with a Counter-serve falafel stand. The toppings and sauces are all customizable so that each meal is unique.
I decided to get a salad bowl with falafel, it's so nice that you get to pick what you want in your own salad. All the different dressings/ sauces was vegan. I felt overjoyed to finally have a problem with choosing. As a vegan you get used to maybe one or to options. But here everything was vegan and they had been since the 90's. The woman working there was so friendly and told me she had worked there for over 30 years. I told her that I took pics of the food and asked if I could get one of the front. It was no problem and she said she had never heard about Happy Cow. And that it's apps like that that helps they stay open so she appreciated that so much ❤️ PS. I also wanted to give a Google review in hope of more people eating vegan could see it.

One of the best meals I had in Amsterdam. Everything was so fresh and flavorful, the fried aubergine was to die for and the managers special hot sauce was so incredible!
Yannet 8 — Google review
My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Forget everything you thought you knew about falafel, because Maoz Falafel in Amsterdam is an absolute revelation. While the Netherlands boasts a vibrant culinary scene—from Indonesian to Argentinian to Turkish——the real unsung hero is the humble falafel found at Maoz. This isn't just a meal; it's an experience in a pita. Maoz, a name that fittingly translates to "courage," (I think). is the brainchild of Nahman and Sima, who had the guts to reinvent the falafel stand. You get your perfectly toasted pita, stuffed with fresh lettuce and a few of their delicious falafels, and then the magic begins. You take control. This isn't a food line; it's your culinary playground. The All-You-Can-Stuff-It Falafel Experience The falafel itself is a work of art. It’s crispy on the outside, fluffy and green on the inside, with a beautiful blend of cilantro, garlic, and cumin that sings with every bite. I’d confidently rate it a 9/10, and as a food lover, that’s high praise. But the real joy is customizing your creation. The endless salad bar is where you make your masterpiece. I’m talking about piling your pita high with their tangy onion salsa—my personal favourite—followed by a crunchy vegetable salad, a zesty carrot salad, and a dollop of creamy coleslaw. You have to finish it off with a drizzle of their vibrant chili coriander sauce. The harmonious blend of flavours and textures is truly unforgettable. While I’ve always been a fan of their classic falafel pita, the eggplant version is a must-try. The smoky, tender eggplant perfectly complements the crispy falafel. I've been eating here since my parents discovered it in the '90s, and it’s a tradition that has stood the test of time. When someone says Maoz has the best falafel in town, they aren't kidding—they're just telling you the delicious truth.
Ali K — Google review

The diner-style eethuis is always bustling at lunchtime, with patrons queuing up for their tasty and affordable offerings.
Went around 20:00, wasn’t busy but picked up straight after. I asked the Uncle serving if he could help me with some recommendations for chicken/vegetarian. As someone from a Trinidadian family, I have to say that the curry chicken roti roll was quite good. So good in fact, that I had to go twice. It could do without the pickles, but it was easy enough to ask for them removed. Portion size was decent as well, a little more filling would have been appreciated, but it's enough food to leave you satisfied. The service was friendly and we understood each other well enough despite my subpar Dutch and their limited English. The restaurant itself isn't too special, but the food is good and I definitely recommend it as a take out option for anyone staying in the area.

The taste of the food was really good and the portions were fulfilling (even too much for one person, so I recommend coming with a companion).

We came to order some pick out. We got the lamb sandwich, fried rice with 3 meats. We asked them to give us 3 of their most popular meats. One of them was really spicy. Some of the meats were a little dry. But strangely addictive. If you are craving Asian food, this is a cheap option. The lamb sandwich was nice and hot. Everything was a little on the saltier side but overall not bad. The sauce goes really well with the rice. The portions are not bad also.

A little hidden gem inside the Metro Station. The portion is huge and the food is great, a nice surprise to see in Amsterdam where eneryhting is overpriced. If you're not sure what to order just ask the staff, they'll help you to narrow it down.

I have been told they have the best fries in town and I can confirm that after my first try. It’s fast food, you can eat around the river or take away home. We got their family pack and it is insanely huge but we have 8 people :) so perfect option for us. For a location this good, we weren't expecting such great food, plus the chicken was halal, and portions were great too! There are plastic containers where you can pack your leftover food yourself...smart efficiency. And the open kitchen adds a unique charm and vibe to the whole place.

I was soooo looking forward to dining here as I love the branches in LDN however I was left disappointed; I didn’t even finish my food. The pasta was stogy - like the pasta was OVERcooked. The garlic bread was delicious. The espresso martini was a great fix. Just shame about the pasta (I imagined to eat out the prawns and chicken from my bowl :) ) there wasn’t any service as everything was ordered via QR code. Hopefully I caught them on a bad day and this isnt a regular occurrence.

Unfortunately the pasta does not taste the same as it used to. They’re very greedy with the sauces and spices. It’s the second time this happened to me which is unfortunate because I used to looove the Vapiano pasta’s. Will not come again
Andjalie P — Google review
Stopped here for some lunch whilst exploring the streets of Amsterdam. There was only 1 waitress it appeared working an entire floor of what was slowly getting busier with customers. Placed our order via the QR code and drinks arrived shiftly, shortly followed by the food, but no starters. The pastas are a large portion, however the carbonara is the second worst carbonara I’ve ever eaten. Does not taste anything like a carbonara. Overhead the waitress say to a couple “we are an inspired Italian, not authentic”. Arrabbiata was stodgy, felt the pasta had been sat on the stove for too long. Eventually, when the meals were practically finished, our “starter” arrived, to which the waitress stated “i guess it’s more an after than a starter”. However, shame, as it was delicious the garlic bread. Staff were friendly, no complaints of their friendliness, just slow service which is to be expected when it’s a one man show. Very nice inside, cool vibe and calm atmosphere. But unfortunately, wouldn’t recommend. Luckily pricing wasn’t too bad.

Good restaurant and nice environment in general. The pizza was tasty but a little bit burned at the edges. Also, something that I didn't like was a heavy noise from a machine that was lasting for 3-4 minutes and was annoying. Our table was close to the kitchen, so I would recommend to choose a table away from there. The service was friendly and quite helpful.

UPDATED 20230910 This time the service was really terrible. I had to wait an whole hour for my take away pasta's while its was already made after 20 min. Just to figure out that they put it in the heating fridge the whole time. No one even bothered to check the order after even asking twice about it. If you're craving something sweet but don't want to break the bank, Venetie IJs is a good option. The gelato here is made with authentic Italian ingredients, making it reminiscent of your favorite gelateria back home. Both Pisans and Venetians love this place and will never agree on who's right – so you'll just have to try both to see which one you like best!
Simply amazing On a warm afternoon I felt like having some ice cream. I remembered walking by Venetie about a week before so I thought I’d give it a try. I ordered what I usually order: one scoop of pistachio ice cream in a cone. Maybe it was the Italian atmosphere inside, or the beautiful day outside but this was by far the best scoop of ice cream I had in a long time. The ice has just the right texture and tasted great. Even the cone had a special after taste. I’ll be back!

Just one half of what is left!! Boss was gracious and kind. Great gelato. The Dubai Pistache was the absolute best. Would definitely recommend this for an after dinner treat..or afternoon treat…or just a treat for being in Amsterdam!!

☕🌟 Well, if you're on the hunt for a delightful espresso experience, look no further! I always swing by this charming spot for my daily dose of caffeinated elegance—and let me tell you, they know how to do it right. Every espresso is served just how the coffee gods intended: strong, smooth, and accompanied by a dainty cup of water like a proper ritual. Divine! But wait—there’s more! On sunnier days (or let’s be honest, whenever I need a sweet escape), I indulge in their scrumptious ice cream. The coconut flavour, it's a tropical vacation in a cone! Creamy, dreamy, and absolutely worth every lick.

Walking back to our hotel after dinner we happened upon this gelato place and decided to take a look. So glad we did! It’s a highlight of our stay here! I can’t eat dairy and I was surprised and pleased to have so many vegan choices. The chocolate was so rich and delicious. The passion fruit was perfect, blood orange was really delicious as well. Took me right back to Italy. Highly recommend!

Absolutely love this place. No frills espresso, exactly the way I like it. The new interior kept the Italian vibe. Morning sun on the terrace, cozy inside & if you like it quiet, there's space in the back. Also my favorite neighborhood place for after dinner ice cream.

Nice and interesting place! The staff is very friendly! Mostly a burgers place with a nice selection of beers and vegetarian options also on the menu. Good portions. Price is around 20 per person including beverage. The theme of the restaurant is drag queens, and the decoration is eclectic, with walls full of skulls and glitter. There is a cat hanging around the tables.

You don't have to travel all the way to Alkmaar or Gouda in the Netherlands to find fresh cheese. Kaasland, a Dutch cheese shop, offers a wide selection of dairy-free cheese and is open until 7pm most nights. They accept credit cards and are happy to provide samples. With affordable prices starting at around ~3 euros for a generous portion, this shop caters not only to cheese lovers but also those who are lactose-intolerant.
They have a wide variety of delicious cheeses. I bought three different types of cheese. Also, if you want to taste them, they have very helpful staff.
Doğucan Y — Google review
Extremely knowledgeable on all the different cheeses they serve. Willing to accommodate custom cuts. I spent around 108e to bring back to America. I thought my cheese had mold because the vacuum seal was on top of plastic film and it made part of the cheese look purple. I emailed for customer service and was quickly responded to. Not only, was it no issue at all and a huge mistake, but they responded professionally and swift. Joost and Darien were extremely helpful and I would definitely recommend this place.

Great variety of cheeses and a better stop over the other commercialized shops. The staff were very helpful and patient with us. I had heard they will make you a sandwich with fresh bread, sliced cheese of your choice and selected veggies. The woman who helped my husband and I was so great! Would highly recommend going out of your way to get your cheese here!

Really nice buffet-style meal at a reasonable price, less than €10 for dinner! Good idea to go before 7pm, as after that much of the food has been cleared out by the previous diners. Also the library is really nice!

It's the restaurant on the last floor of the Public Library. It's not really on a rooftop, and there's not really so much of a good view except if you sit right by the window. Nonetheless, it has a nice buffet with a good variety of fresh food and drinks

Very convenient for parents with young kids visiting the library. There are plenty of high chairs and a toilet with a baby change near the cafe. I came with a pram and one of the staff helped me take my tray to my table so I could wheel the pram over and grab a high chair. Quite cost effective too - €5.50 for a fresh Woodfired pizza big enough to feed 1 adult and 1-2 children.

Excellent vegan place. it is a nonprofit run by volunteers. We went on a night when for 5 euro you get 3 course set menu. It might always be this way. We had red lentil soup, followed by rice noodles with spinach, tofu, broccoli and peanut sauce. Very good. Dessert was chocolate dipped fruits. Excellent concept where they serve at kitchen and you go get food. Excellent price/quality ratio. Free water. Beer or wine is only 2-3 euros. Some people may have been going back for second plates for no extra charge.

Top vegan place, love it. Hard to reserve, but try, opens only on the weekends (check their agenda) very casual and different from a classic restaurant, the MKZ dinners are prepared by collectives. And always, always amazing. Beer selection is good, wines not really. ;)

This popular spot in de Pijp infuses Kiwi and Brazilian influences into their menu, featuring dishes like eggs benny, New Zealand-style full English breakfast, Navajo eggs, and huevos rancheros.
Open early on Sundays- worth getting up for! Excellent varied menu. We had florentine and BR special. Both very well executed. Super garlicky spinach and yummy think bread. Friendly efficient service.
Jason L — Google review
Unfortunately, the food was quite disappointing. The dishes lacked flavor, presentation, and overall quality — which was very unexpected. The bread was cut too thick and had no taste, it wasn’t toasted or spread with butter. Adding simple touches such as garlic butter, cheese sauce, or other flavor elements could make a big difference. All three dishes we ordered were completely bland. These days, it’s easy to find inspiration online for improving flavor and presentation, and I believe there is definitely room for improvement.
Simona S — Google review
We had a tasty brunch here on a Sunday morning. My only wish was that the wait list system worked because I tried to join the wait list as we were walking there and it wasn't working... Of course we arrived and the place was full so we could only add ourselves once we got there. This meant that we could only get bar seats which was a bit tight for space. Aside from the seating situation the food itself was great. We got the Navajo Eggs and the Huevos Rancheros. Both were delicious and had a good balance of fresh ingredients with savoury elements.

Great breakfast and healthy options 🌸 We got early breakfast here. We ordered the B&R breakfast with side eggs and avocado with coffee and matcha. Everything is delicious and fresh, especially the pancakes. The portion sizes are good. Coffee and matcha latte was also good. Quick and friendly service. Highly reccomend and would visit again =)

We arrived and a had a little wait once we joined the virtual waiting list, but that was okay as we just walked around the area for a bit. The staff were lovely and food was great. They have good gluten free options and everything is clearly marked on the menu. Only giving 4 stars as the prices were very expensive.
Nicola B — Google review
I ordered the B&R Special with extra avocado instead of bacon. The eggs and bread were delicious, and the butter elevated the whole dish. The orange juice was fresh, but the pancakes were underwhelming compared to the rest. Nice atmosphere and excellent service, overall, a solid 5 stars despite the pancakes.

I have been to a lot of brunch places in Amsterdam but this is definitely one of my favorite or maybe my new favorite in town. The pulled pork is just amazing. We went there around 1pm on a working day and waited outside for around 10 mins, which is okay. Will definitely come back.

The food was delicious and it's the best coffee I've had in this neighbourhood! I don't eat beef or pork, so they swapped the pork in my eggs Benedict with extra avocado. The ingredients were fresh, the flavours were amazing and the flavour pairings from the Brazilian and Kiwi cultures were incredible. One of my favourites! The staff was super nice. Even though they're reservation system was temporarily down, and I had to wait for 45 minutes before I could find a table, the staff was super nice and offered me a spot to relax in the waiting area. They also helped me with my luggage. Great experience in general, totally recommend it for brunches and breakfasts!

Delicious stroopwaffel and one of the best I have tried in Amsterdam. The place is very cozy and chill and I will definitely go back again.
Ahmed A — Google review
So glad I went out of my way to buy stroopwafels here before we went home. They aren’t exactly the kind you see in all the other shops. They are more like a very thin spiced biscuit with the caramel inside. And I loved it!
Emily E — Google review
Holy crap this is the best stroopwafel that I had in my life! I wish that I had bought a box to go when I was there. The store is small and quaint, but the stroopwafel is so good. I highly recommend!
Kelly L — Google review
This stroopwafel was honestly the best I’ve ever tried! Perfectly balanced in flavor, not overly sweet, just the right amount of caramel, and so tasty with my coffee. The texture was soft but still had a nice bite to it. A must try if you’re looking for an authentic and delicious treat..
Reem A — Google review
This place makes very good Stroopwafels with honey. The poppy seeds dessert, the ginger almonds and the Oliebll were also very good. There is a place to sit inside and coffee is available. The service isn't the friendliest out there especially towards newcomers. Highly recommended nonetheless.

Lovely bakers and very kindly took an order of Oliebollen from me for mine and my wife's birthday for early October. Excellent taste and also bought some butter cookie pieces. Can't recommend this bakery for sweet treats enough! <3 thank you.
Spencer G — Google review
I heard a lot about their Stroopwafel, so I was excited to try it, but honestly, it was a huge letdown. It was way too hard, super crunchy, cold and pretty much tasteless. Definitely not what I was expecting. And for the price? Totally not worth it. I really don’t get the hype. As someone who’s tried pastries all over Asia and Europe, I can confidently say this was one of the most overrated ones I’ve had in my life. I was expecting something maybe a bit softer (?), warmer, or at least flavorful, but instead, it was just a plain, sugary crunch with no real taste. The cappuccino was also pretty cold, which was really disappointing. As someone who has lived in Italy for years, this felt like a huge disappointment to what a proper cappuccino should be. It’s not just about the taste—it’s about the experience, and serving it lukewarm just ruins it. Not trying to be rude, but there’s absolutely nothing special about it. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. There are way better options out there for pastries or a sweet breakfast, specially if you already have tried good pastries in other European countries or Asia.

Located in the oldest part of Amsterdam, Oude Zijde, Waag is a historic building that has served various purposes over the centuries. Originally a city gate, it now houses a relaxed restaurant with a candle-lit terrace. This impressive structure dates back to the 15th century and was once part of the city walls.
Lovely food, staff nice and friendly. Recommended 🙂 one day I had a avocado smashed on toast and the other day we had a egg Benedict. Both delicious 😋

De Waag is a beautiful restaurant/bar. It is a beautiful building and on the terrace outside you have the perfect spot in the middle of Amsterdam. The service is quite slow but very friendly. The food is quite average, a bit comparable to other restaurants in the area. The prices………well what do you expect in the middle of Amsterdam, the location is great, so you shouldn't complain that it is expensive.
Andre S — Google review
Dining inside a 15th-century city gate was a unique and interesting experience! Waag Restaurant is Amsterdam’s oldest non-religious building, which once served as a weigh house (waag) and anatomical theatre. The candlelit interior and vaulted ceilings created a dramatic, historic setting that was hard to beat. Food was decent; the white asparagus was fresh and nicely prepared. Overall, the building itself makes the visit worthwhile. A memorable spot for the ambience!

Really enjoyed dining in this restaurant that has 300 lit candles inside. We ordered the half chicken, boneless ribs with a side of sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious but I really liked the boneless ribs. It was covered in peanuts and the meat was tender and flavourful. Would recommend making reservations as we were turned away the first time we tried to eat here

Such a beautiful old building… I stopped for a moment without even planning to 🙂 It looks a bit like a small castle right in the middle of the city. People walking around, taking photos, a relaxed atmosphere. I didn’t stay long, but the place has something calm and pleasant about it. A nice stop while wandering through Amsterdam.

The restaurant is in a beautiful place, the terrace is beautiful. I recommend Tuna Tataki, excellently prepared, Crispy chiken and Chies Finger. The price of food for 3 people with one drink is about 60 euros. Friendly service, quiet and relaxed atmosphere. If you are visiting Amsterdam, I recommend this restaurant if you want to enjoy "regular" food. The building was built in 1466, which is a rarity and a special historical place. If you want to drink 1 liter of Gin and Tonic, this is the right place 😊

Customers can also choose from a variety of toppings such as Nutella, caramel, mokka, white chocolate, Oreos, strawberries, and whipped cream for an additional cost.
Transcendent. Served warm and fresh atop a knob of butter and dusted with powdered sugar. I kid you not this was a glowing piece of heavenly delight. So simple but so incredibly done. I have only been so truly blown away by a handful of times and this was one of them. Highly recommend you set aside time (and stomach space) on a visit to Albert Cuyp market. The line wasn’t long either.

Really nice poffertjes on the market! I chose to get them with powdered sugar and butter (the standard). It was really nice and quick but maybe a tad bit too much butter. As it was on a market i won’t rate the atmosphere as it is just a market stall!
Paris P — Google review
Tried the mini pancakes at Albert Cuyp Market — today I went for the raspberry flavor. At first, I thought it would be real raspberries, but it turned out to be just raspberry-flavored candy. The pancakes themselves were quite good — sweet and rich — though adding the topping made them a bit too sweet.
SUNNY D — Google review
Best place for authentic Dutch Poffertjes. You can enjoy freshly baked and hot poffertjes with butter and powdered sugar. There are also various options of customizing poffertjes with different types of toppings but if you are looking for authentic experience, go for the plain ones wihhout toppings. Absolutely amazing! This is the kind of tourist trap that aren’t trapping 🤣 you deserve the hype! Their chocolate cookie (their only cookie) is amazingggggg even when you queue (the queue always look so long, but they’re actually so fast!) you can smell the good stuff there! It is sooooo soft in the middle, with white chocolate melting inside, and crisp on the outsidee oh God i LOVE♥️ and please eat it while it’s hot cause it’s 20000 times betterr! But don’t worry they give a very detailed way to reheat your cookie at home 🤭👍🏻 (1 cookie = 3€, 6 cookie = 15€)

Phenomenal cookie. Stopped by on a Friday morning to finally try “the best cookie in Amsterdam.” I got there about ten minutes before opening, and there were already 10–15 people in line. While waiting, I watched the bakers through the window. White aprons, trays of dough, golden decors, chocolate everywhere, and the whole scene felt straight out of one of those candy-factory montages from old movies. Once inside, the process was simple. They sell only one kind of cookie, so you just choose how many (up to two dozen per person) and whether you want them in a tin or a paper box. Since I was flying them home, I went for the tin, which seemed to be what most people did. The staff were incredibly kind. One of them even handed me the last warm cookie from the tray for free. The cookie was simple but a perfect mix of dark chocolate batter with a core of white valrhona chocolate. It had that deep roasty aroma that lingered without bitterness, and it wasn’t too sweet. I’ll admit, I’ll always measure cookies against the ones my mom baked when I was a kid, but this was the closest I’ve come to that memory of a “perfect chocolate cookie.” They even include reheating instructions, and sure enough, once I pan-warmed them back home, they somehow got even better. My only regret was not getting the full two dozen.

Simply the best cookie we have ever had. The white chocolate filling was so creamy, and fits perfectly within the soft and rich cookie. It’s no wonder the shop continues to draw the crowds with just one item on its menu!

My friends and I just happened to walk pass after shopping at Bijenkorf Amsterdam. The queue was long but we still joined in the queue. There’s only one item to purchase yet, it’s so popular. The cookie making at the workshop was an essential part for me while waiting in the queue. While my turn to purchase, the cashier worked efficiently to pack and done. Taste wise, it was good and I adored the texture if the cookies, it’s crunchy on the outside and little chewy on the inside. Not too sweet but that’s excellent for me.

Apparently, this is the must-try cookie shop in Amsterdam, so of course we had to check it out. We even skipped dessert at Bistro de la Mer just so we could try these famous cookies! When we arrived, the line was super long—but it moved really fast. It was actually fun watching the cookie makers through the window as they molded the dough by hand and pressed chunks of white chocolate into the center. Kind of like the see-through kitchen you see at Din Tai Fung, if you know what I mean. The cookies were warm, chewy, and definitely tasty. But honestly, they didn’t blow my mind. If I bake cookies at home and eat them fresh out of the oven, they’re also warm and chewy—so this didn’t feel too different. Still, it was fun to try once and worth the experience. Four cookies cost €12—not exactly cheap—but the packaging is cute, and the shop itself has a great vibe. Overall, glad we tried it, but I probably wouldn’t go back.
Critsy Y — Google review
Insanely amazing cookies! Soft and crispy at the same time! There is always a hugeeeee waiting line so make sure to go early. They shut the moment they are out of cookies and they only bake a limited number of batches everyday. When we went they had a limit of only 8 cookies per person. You get an option to buy in a tin box or a regular paper box. Or even loose cookies if you want a single piece. They cookies are on the expensive side but worth a try.
Devanshi S — Google review
So, so, so delicious! Definitely worth trying and even worth the wait. I missed out on getting a cookie on my first visit because I arrived about an hour before closing and they had already sold out. So the second time, I went 30 minutes before opening. There were only 5 to 6 groups ahead of me, but by the time it opened, around 15 to 20 groups were in the queue. I was the second one to go in and bought a box of cookies for a friend and one for myself. The cookies were amazing. The white chocolate inside added a nice twist and gave the flavor more depth. Service was fast, and you can watch the whole baking process, which makes the experience even better. 🍪🍪

Restaurant
Pancakes Amsterdam, located at Prins Hendrikkade 48, 1012 AC Amsterdam, offers a diverse menu featuring pancake-centric dishes inspired by both international cuisine and traditional Dutch cooking. The restaurant categorizes its menu by style, with dedicated sections for flat Dutch pancakes and thicker American varieties. Toppings range from savory combinations like ham and cheese to sweet treats such as chocolate sauce and stroopwafel crumble.
The staff were incredibly approachable and friendly, lovely people from start to finish. Great environment with wonderful ambience while eating! The food was delicious, got some sweet Dutch pancakes which were superb, a constant sweetness throughout that didn’t turn sickly towards the end like a lot of other “sweet treat” food spots

After arriving in Amsterdam, I really fancied some pancakes and being a very short walk outside of the station this place was perfect. It was a little busy when I arrived however I still got a seat straightaway. Firstly just want to say that the staff were brilliant! Really friendly and helpful, they were always smiling and created a nice atmosphere. A great selection of food and drinks are available but I went for the basic maple and bacon option and a coffee. The coffee arrived almost straight away and was lovely. Like I said it was a little busy but my pancake arrived about 5-7 minutes later so still very quick service, and these were equally nice. Really fluffy and just spot on. It was a really good sized portion, (I got through about 2 and a half of them before they beat me) and the bacon wasn’t quite as snappy/crispy as I like, but they were nicely cooked and tasted great. And to top it off, after I paid they gave me a nice little keyring to remember the place and I personally love it when places do things like this. It’s just a really nice touch and I’ll always remember this place when I see it, and it really set the tone for what was an awesome day in an amazing city. 🙂 When I’m next in Amsterdam I’ll definitely be coming back here. The only thing I can say to just be aware of is if it’s busy, it can be a light bit tight if you sit outside as you’ll be sitting quite close to others. For me it wasn’t a problem as I’m not very big, but there was still a little bit of manoeuvring to get in and out, but the food and service you get is top notch so well worth it. In fact while I was eating a couple turned up with some suitcase and the staff offered to keep the cases safe inside so they could sit outside. Thank you Pancakes Amsterdam for a memorable and enjoyable visit.

We had breakfast here, and it was really good! The portions are big and very filling — definitely enough to start your day right. The prices are a bit on the expensive side, but that’s expected since it’s located in the city center. The service was good, and overall, it was a nice experience. Worth trying if you’re in Amsterdam and want a hearty breakfast!

We came here a few times — a calm, friendly spot just across from Amsterdam Centraal Station that’s incredibly convenient if you’ve got a train to catch. It’s easy to find and perfect for a relaxed breakfast or a casual brunch before exploring the city. The team working there were warm and efficient — friendly smiles, quick service, and they never made me feel rushed despite the steady stream of people coming in. My pancakes arrived sooner than I expected, piping hot and nicely presented. The menu has a good range of choices, including protein-friendly options (think extra eggs or savory choices) and clearly marked gluten-free alternatives, which I appreciated as someone traveling with dietary preferences. The portions are satisfying without being overwhelming, and they pair nicely with a well-brewed cup of coffee. The atmosphere is welcoming and laid-back — light, cozy seating and a gentle buzz of conversation that makes it a nice place to linger. It’s also family-friendly, with menu items that appeal to kids and adults alike. If you’re in a hurry, they do handle takeaway swiftly, which is convenient given the station location. One practical note: because of how convenient it is, especially for travelers arriving or departing from the station, the place fills up quickly — particularly on weekend mornings and during tourist season. If you want a quieter experience or a guaranteed table, come early or aim for a late-afternoon snack time. That said, turnover is decent, and the staff manage the flow well, so wait times aren’t usually too long. Overall, a relaxing and reliable spot for pancakes in a prime location. Friendly service, tasty options for different diets, and a cozy vibe make it worth a visit — just plan for crowds and come early if you want a guaranteed table. Highly recommended for a casual, delicious pit stop by Centraal Station.

Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Portion to Price: 3/5 Overall: A good experience to have a pancake in Amsterdam but I didn't leave too full. The extended review... Food: Apple and Bacon Pancake - 3/5 - A good combo and pretty standard fare taste wise. Service: 3/5 - Standard service. Ambiance: 3/5 - A quaint ambiance with nicely spread out seating. Portion to Price: 3/5 - Could have used a little more portion.

Overall pretty good experience. The food was good, there was wide range of options on the menu. I got something basic, but looking at the food on other tables some of the pancakes can be quite decadent. Coffee was good here, with options for oat or soy milk. I will say the temperature inside the restaurant was very hot and a bit of airflow would have made the dining experience more pleasant. The servers were nice, but limited interactions with customers because it was busy.

Have been to Amsterdam so many times we did not have a chance to go to PANCAKES in Amsterdam but this time we finally have done it, but it disappointed us. Be honest, we like the coffee at PANCAKES, it tastes smooth and nice but Taking about The pancakes, it’s very average. It tastes like anywhere else in Amsterdam we have been. It doesn’t amaze or surprise us at all. I have to say this location of this PANCAKES store is very good, less five minutes walk from Amsterdam Centraal station, that’s why here is super busy. It look us about 25 minutes to get a table, maybe because of four of us, it’s easier to get a table or seat by the window if you are a couple. This place is not very big, it’s kind of small, I think the restaurant tries to put too many tables to get more customers. It’s not comfy to sit inside at all,not even mention to enjoy the pancakes. As we tried to use the sugar powder (poeder suiker) on the table, it’s very standard topping with Dutch pancakes, then we have found out the sugar powder inside is like rock hard when you try to shake it and you will feel it. We have no idea how long this has been on the table. We even tried to use the one from next table, it is the same. I think this is a very important part of Dutch pancakes experience, but this really disappoints us. Really disappointing. Finally we have to mention this. We did not realise the staff even put 10% tips on the bills without asking till we left the restaurant and asked the person to pay the bill. It’s very disrespectful and disgraceful. I have not been to any other branches of PANCAKES, but I will not recommend this one personally.

I recently visited Pancakes Amsterdam and it was such a delightful experience! The Dutch pancakes we ordered were melt-in-your-mouth and with just the right balance of sweetness. I tried the Dutch pancake with sweet strawberries, hazelnuts and whipped cream, and it was absolutely delicious. The presentation was lovely too! Portion size was generous. The atmosphere of the shop was friendly and inviting. Staff were attentive and welcoming, which made the visit even more enjoyable. Overall, I’d highly recommend Pancakes Amsterdam to anyone looking for a comforting brunch spot or a sweet treat / savoiry pancakes any time of day. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more of their menu before my holiday comes to an end!

Noorderlicht Café is a vibrant and trendy spot located in Noord-Amsterdam, accessible via a free ferry from Central Station. The café is housed in a unique greenhouse-style space and offers a bustling atmosphere with seasonal dishes served by the river. The venue boasts an intimate setting with colorful lights visible across the IJ River, creating a lively ambiance for patrons enjoying live music on the waterfront terrace.
So, here's a little review for this spot called Noorderlicht. It's up in Amsterdam Noord. I’d been there before, back in the day, and it was a nice enough place. But they’ve done a renovation since then and I hadn’t checked it out until recently. So we went the other day just for some snacks, and then today we came back for lunch with a big group of friends—there were about a dozen of us. The other day we had some classic Dutch snacks: fried cauliflower, onion rings, fries and bitterballen. All very tasty and just your typical Dutch comfort bites. Today we all went for burgers and roti. The roti was really good, and the burgers—well, maybe not the best burgers I’ve ever had, but definitely nothing to complain about. The place itself was already nice before, and now it’s even more beautiful—very hipster, kind of that recycled-material, hippie vibe. They’re clearly trying to reduce waste and they have some vegan options, which is pretty cool. The service has improved a lot too—people used to be a bit gruff, but now the waitstaff is friendly and smiling. It’s a gorgeous spot with a lovely terrace and a garden right by the water, overlooking the IJ, so you get this beautiful view and can even see Amsterdam Central Station in the distance. We really enjoyed it and I’ll definitely be coming back.

Came on Amsterdam sail day. Utter chaos. Waited for be served for around 15 minuets, only to have 3 waiters arrive at our table within 3 minutes after the order had been placed. Had to wait for a bottle of wine more than 20 minutes. They brought the wrong wine a few times and forgot the glasses. They needed overall 7 trips by 3 different waiters to accomplish the order. By the time the wine arrived, the food was finished but we celebrated it like winning the Champions league. The menu does not have gluten free options and I was served the Caesar Salad with the croutons. The salad was university student standard. To make the experience memorable, they asked us to pay in the middle of the service. I genuinely questioned if we were being filmed for laughs l. The location is fantastic, but I recommend you bring your own food and drinks.

They charged us €1,60 for a Karaf of tap water... Unacceptable. Edit after owner's response: That's understandable and a fair business practice. However, what is not a fair is the lack of communication: when ordering "tap water," it should have been clarified that it wasn't actually tap water and that there would be a charge. Transparency up front is always appreciated.

It took 1h20 for food (2 soups and 2 salads) to arrive and they made us pay when we ordered. They did not inform us it would be so long when we ordered even though the place was not so busy. Waiters did not tell us about the long wait and refused to tell us how much much longer the food would be. Food was good quality and presented well when it did arrive. Manager gave us a round of drinks as an apology otherwise review would be 0/5.

The terrible experience we had today at Noorderlicht is the perfect example of how poor management and not owning your mistakes can make you lose a regular visitor. I brought my parents for lunch and we ordered 4 “Noorderlicht burgers”. The waiter asked us to pay in advance because the place was very busy, and he told us it was 88 euros. I asked why 88 if the menu said 19€ per burger (as in the shared picture). He mentioned that if we wanted cheese and bacon was 3€ extra. I told him that shouldn’t be like that because in the menu it said 19€ INCLUDING THE CHEESE AND BACON AS INGREDIENTS. But anyway, I decided to pay. He was very polite and mentioned that they were changing the menu and that probably it was a mistake, so he would ask the management team to solve it. After a while, I told the waiter (he was very polite all the time) that I was aware it was not his fault but that I thought it was not acceptable to pay 12 euros extra for 2 ingredientes that in the menu were reflected as included. He said that we were right and that he was going to ask his supervisor. A young woman came and told us they could offer us a free drink as a compensation but we told her in a polite way that we preferred our 12€ back. Her manners changed there. She started being very rude and entitled, and told us that that was everything she could do as they couldn’t refund us. We insisted and she said she was going to talk to her boss. She came back a couple of minutes later and she told me that if we wanted a refund I had to give her my name and bank account. I told her that I was not going to share my personal details and that I thought that was not the correct way to proceed with a refund. They should either give the money back on the card we paid with or give us the amount in cash. Being even more rude, she said they couldn’t do that. I asked why and she said “because my boss says so”. Then I told her that I would like to talk to her boss. She made a terrible face and left. A few minutes later, another woman came and asked with very rude manners that what was the problem. We explained her the situation, and that we thought it was their mistake charging us for ingredients that were already included in the menu. She said “ok, but we offered you drinks and you denied them. Also, you already ate the cheese and the bacon”. We told her that if we wanted more drinks we would have been happy to pay for them (also we are not stupid and we know that their cost for 4 beers is way less than the 12€ euros they overcharged us). We insisted that we just wanted to pay the fair price that was reflected in the menu and therefore we wanted our 12€ back. She left and came back with 6 coins of 2€, threw them to the table and said “let’s see if you learn to trust us more now”. Horrible, horrible management of the situation. It was their mistake, and instead of owning them, they decided to lose a regular visitor for 12 euros. I am definitely not coming back. Well done, team! 👏 (Also we had to wait 20-30 minutes for the drinks we ordered before lunch and the food was very mediocre) UPDATE Their answer to this review is full of lies and again shows the kind of people running this place. Avoid it at all cost.

Brouwerij Troost is a popular Amsterdam brewery that has expanded to three locations across the city. The original location in De Pijp offers a small-batch brewery experience in a former monastery, while the Westergasterrein branch provides cavernous space for tours and tastings. Additionally, their cozy brew pub in Oud-West is perfect for sampling their range of organic beers, including lagers, weizens, IPAs, and more.
Brewery and burger place. Great range of beers of their own. The IPA is top notch. Fantastic location, lots of different types of searing inside. We settled on high tables near the bar. Good burgers! Stayed for a couple of beers. Great atmosphere. Can be a pitstop place or a session in itself. Prices ok.

Great place for some drinks and to enjoy a pub quiz with your friends! They have an English pub quiz every week, and we attended once and had a lot of fun. I think it is very well organized and quite professional. They have a nice selection of drinks, and also some food and bites. With the pub quiz we had the burger deal - I had the falafel burger which was ok, but nothing special. However the sweet potato fries were amazing. My friends enjoyed their burgers though, so that's a plus! Buit I would recommend the place more for drinks. The place is quite spacious, but I definitely recommend making a reservation. The staff is super friendly. Would love to come back again for the pub quiz!

Don’t go here for food. Drinks came immediately, beer was good, people were nice, but the kitchen did not function. Went for a quick snack and fries took 30 minutes to get to us on a slow Monday night, and were delivered to the wrong table. Fun place to get a drink but the food was not it.

Fromagerie Abraham Kef is a must-visit with multiple locations in North, East, and West. While they offer an impressive selection of French cheeses, their expertise lies in raw-milk small-produce Dutch cheese. The Noord branch offers all-Dutch cheese tastings accompanied by wine, craft beer, charcuterie, pates, and rillettes from Amsterdam artisanal butcher De Pasteibakkerij.
We came in here looking for some Dutch cheese to take home, and were very glad we decided to stop by this place! Martijn was incredibly helpful in recommending several amazing cheeses. Do yourself a favor and ignore the touristy cheese shops and check out Fromagerie Abraham Kef!

Whilst in Amsterdam for a short visit I dined at a fabulous restaurant called 'R21', the cheese I ate at the restaurant was divine and so I asked where it came from and I was told "Fromagerie Abraham Kef". The very next day I visited Abraham Kef's and bought 4 varieties of cheese (Lazuli, Tynjetaler, Blokje Gewassen Korst and De Jong - Belegen) to take back home with me to enjoy over Christmas. The shop is not a 'stocked' with as many varieties as some other cheese shops in Amsterdam but the staff are friendly and the cheese amazing. Well worth a visit if you love your cheese.

Advised to try this cheese shop as it has a wide range, not just the mass-produced infused gouda cheese seen on practically every street in the centre of Amsterdam. Eethuis Pondok Indah, a quaint eatery located on Prinsengracht, offers genuine and affordable Indonesian cuisine. The restaurant prides itself in serving delicious meals that won't break the bank. Customers can choose from a variety of vegetable and meat options, with the tempeh being particularly popular. This was my first time trying Indonesian food and selected this location based on Anthony Bourdain's recommendation. The lady running the restaurant was very helpful and spoke good English. As we had never tried this food, she gave us food suggestions. Food was delicious. There is only a couple tables here and it is mostly a take out restaurant, but overall seemed to be quite popular.

The take-out meal was fantastic! As others have noted, the gentleman who owns this place was super nice and helpful in assisting us with our order. He has owned it for over 30 years, and his wife does the cooking. We got a dish with rice, one meat (sweet beef, which was so tender and not fatty), several vegetable sides, and an egg. Everything was so tasty, and the meal was 11.5 euros and served 2 of us! We were able to get exactly what we wanted to try and were so happy with everything. A few locals were getting their take-away orders right before us which is always a validation. I highly recommend giving this place a try!
