Sao Hôm Restaurant is nestled in the historic Nha Long Co area, a renowned site in Can Tho. Its location by the Ninh Kieu riverside offers a charming setting for diners to savor authentic local cuisine. The perfect place to have a delicious lemon juice (50d). Or another fresh juice, or an excellent dinner. Probably the best restaurant in town for the food quality, the localisation and the service. It’s a tourist trap. If you don’t see any Asians dining, you know it’s not authentic.
Don’t get me wrong, the setting is very nice and upscale, the service was attentive, but the food is…neh. It’s generic and unauthentic Vietnamese food. If you were looking for some proper local food from the mekong delta, try somewhere else.
Had dinner here while staying nearby. Large restaurant with plenty of tables. Central location on the riverfront. Very convenient. Relaxing atmosphere. Many groups of tourists. Quick service. Much choice on the menu. Food ok. Reasonable prices.
Nice spot situated in Can Tho market, overlooking the water. Service was pleasant, and the fish and vegetables were fresh. Dishes were lightly seasoned and flavoured with a lot of garlic and sweet onions.
As an overseas Vietnamese person, I really liked the food here! My mum (hard to please and is an excellent cook) also enjoyed the food. The rice paper rolls were excellent, a true speciality of this region. The mango fish salad was lovely too, another specialty. The restaurant was also very tidy and clean. A very peaceful setting to enjoy the view as well. The only downside was that the waiter couldn’t explain why they brought out seafood fried rice when we ordered the fried rice with Chinese sausage, egg and pork. It was still cooked well though. Anyway, it was still a great experience and would recommend.
The food looked okey but already a bit blend. After l tried the seafood stir fry noodles, they were super blend. There was no sauce but there was some watery liquid under the pasta, so the soy sauce l wanted to add didn’t stick to it. The seafood was cold and super chewy. I couldn’t finish it. And also the restaurant was almost completely empty and they messed up my order on the first try
This restaurant was recommended by my bike tour guide and was a great recommendation for our dinner in Can Tho.
Amazing location by the river bank next to a boat and atmosphere that is well lit perfect for dinner. Being an open restaurant layout, everything was well maintained and cleaned with helpful staff serving you food.
The food that we got was delicious, especially the garlic fried rice which took both my wife and I by surprise on how good yet simple this dish was. Their Mekong style spring rolls was also amazing.
The caramel fried banana dessert with a dash of coconut ice cream was perfect to finish our meal off. I would highly recommend this place for large or small groups of travels to consider as you can truly kick back and relax while you dine at this fine restaurant.

Awful, expired food prepared with zero effort. Avoid the snake meat and okra.
The service was good. Street side on a busy tourist promenade, good for watching people lucky enough not to be eating there.
This restaurant looks beautiful from the outside (1 star) but that’s where it ends.
We ordered the satay chicken and the stir fried port. I also ordered a glass of wine and the guy behind the counter was helpful in choosing a local one.
As for the food……the Chicken was ok, not much satay taste.
The pork however was not cooked. We sent it back. No apologies. However, they didn’t charge us for it (another star) so that’s good. But an apology would have been nice too.

It’s salty, expensive and tastes bad, so don’t be scam by the reviews was not true!!!! No meal is acceptable except bottled water.
I may have eaten some chips and some meat, but I didn't finish at least half of that because I was starving and I try not to waste it, but I ended up with at least most of it left because it was terrible.
Can you explain why the product I got was completely different from the photos in the review, and the beef and noodle had a strange taste.

Ok. This is a treat. The food pics on the website look like Michelin starred food from Europe. So in we go thinking this could be interesting.
It looked wrong from the start. The old lady in the back showed the same interest in us as the snakes in the large jar behind her.
Signs of life when a young waiter flip flopped his way over and gave us a menu minus the amazing dishes on offer on the website.

Nice atmosphere, staff super friendly, we ordered a traditional Prawn sweet and sour soup and a traditional pork stewed, Chicken fried rice, and I think it’s called rockling beef with rice, the prawn sweet and sour soup was a bit sweet, but overall food were ok
Even though staff is friendly it's hard to communicate in English. Menu with photos is a helper though. If you want to take a chance on trying both of egzotic meals - crocodile and snake - it's great place to do that. We've tried both of them, but they have only slight diffdrence visually.
Try the catfish dishes in hotpot!
Food is reasonably priced, location is along the main street. Small family restaurant with friendly service. :)

Roof-top restaurant with spectacular view on Mekong. Welcoming staff. Extensive menu. Great food & best presentation we have seen up to now in Vietnam. Not a busy night & service was not up to par: appetizer asked without lettuce came WITH lettuce, rice bowl ordered never came, wine served once, then we were on our own; staff did not bother to check on us for sweets or bill. We were expecting service in line with L’Escale price level. Rice bowl were on our bill! Shape up!
Small gem
We, 2 adults and 2 teenage girls, had full dinner and dessert, all which was very tasty. It's the best duck I tried in Vietnam, and girls where euphoric about the lava cake with ice cream. Prices are very fair. Location is probably the best in the city. Service was good, except they forgot a few things during the dinner, but remedied that with a smile. We only wish we had tried more restaurants like this.
Top quality Mediterranean food in Can Tho. Highly recommend the soup and steak. Really nice change from Vietnamese food 24/7. Rooftop dining was nice and the staff where 10/10
First visit here. It was very busy with three large group bookings. Sadly, there was no single table available on the main road to get a full river view experience. However, I could see the river ahead of me. The menu has a range of dishes. There are 2 set menu and I chose one of them. It was 650k and included pumpkin soup, avocado salad, flambé king prawn in vodka, American tenderloin steak with few pieces of veg, fries, and green pepper sauce and panecota to finish. I also had the Ninh Kieu cocktail. The food was all cooked well but did not wow me. The steak was a little tough in parts, but I did eat it all. I think the staff focus their attention on the large groups to keep them all happy.

The food and service is perhaps the best Western style offering in Can Tho. The staff were attentive and the food perfectly prepared and presented. Table settings were presented to the highest standard.

Not good place for wedding party or any party. It is very very old style, old facilities, staffs didn't know what to do, food is not good. Space is so basic.
Everything’s quite so so. Nice dishes. Beautiful garden by the river. But the waitress was such a mood-killer. She was rough and impollite, served us in slow-motion style. And the toilet is not good as i expected.

We came here to look for a safe and clean place to eat. Looking at the google reviews, it was clear that a lot of westerners eat here. So we gave it a crack. Food was good, service at attentive and friendly, price is reasonable for the busy location.

We had our lunch here after the completion of our 4 day, 3 nights Mekong bike tour. The food was above average and did its job.
The set up is very country like with a modern twist which is very nice. Great location at the corner of the street so you can see all the action of cars, bikes and people walking about.
I was very impressed with their tomato soup and this was the highlight of my set menu lunch meal.
They have an upstairs dining area too which is great if you're after a bit of peace and quiet.

Referring to Nam Bo restaurant, the people in the profession almost know ... if you ask the locals which restaurant for foreigners to eat ..? There are people who share only the Nam Bo, but there are others who do not know. They just said, "I don't know what its name is, but I see quite a lot of foreigners coming there." The service staff is professional, tidy, clean .... I really like this place whenever I have the opportunity to go to Cantho, I always stop for lunch and dinner with my family and friends.
Sat outside and enjoyed the ambiance, the street was closed to walking traffic only so was very pleasant. The food was very good, we had a grilled squid dish and a pork dish along with a papaya salad (Highly recommend).

This is a busy spot, especially with foreigners, but we had a very bad experience. We ordered the a sweet and sour pork dish, and we discovered some of the pork was undercooked and completely raw. We only noticed it towards the end of the meal. When we showed the raw meat to the owner, his response was shocking. He told us it was our fault for not noticing it sooner and sending it back!!!! It was a crazy and deeply concerning response to a serious health risk. When we asked for the bill, there was no apology or discount offered. We had to argue with the owner just to discuss the issue and his explanation was the meat was cooked from frozen so it's normal to be like this!!!! This restaurant has terrible customer service and dangerous cooking standards. Be careful if you eat here as it seems to be the customers job to make sure the restaurant cook their food!
Wow. Been in Vietnam for over a month, and had one of my top dinners here in that time. Fantastic fresh spring rolls and sauce. Great veggie curry, with a cold beverage. Going back.
There are lots of very good local restaurants in Can Tho, including a good number of vegan ones. International options are more limited though, especially for vegetarians and vegans. But this place is wonderful. The quality is excellent, they have a vast menu with a wide range of both Vietnamese and international dishes, almost everything comes with a vegetarian or vegan option. I sometimes come here to satisfy cheese cravings with their quesadillas, but their Vietnamese food is also very good. They also do very good salad and the fruit juice is real fruit juice with no added sugar.
Popular with both locals and foreigners, depending what time you come. I can't praise it highly enough!
Reasonable prices and varied menu. We had the soup, which was good and filling. Friendly. You can sit and watch the world go by.

Prices were fair and cheap for things on the menu, but beware of extras. We asked for some extra lettuce for the wrap and roll, assuming it’ll be free. It was $4 AUD. That’s wild for a local restaurant.

Lúa Nêp is a good restaurant, good service and beautiful view of the river. We were here few years ago and the restaurant expanded since. Their food and service are excellent like the first time we were there. We have coʻm chái and thįt kho and it was amazing combination. We also ordered fried fish and it was very good too. For all of that and a Tiger beer for around $13 USD.

Beautiful scenery restaurant. It is right on the lake with tables situated right on the edge of the water. The food menu was huge with a lot of choices including many authentic Regional food. They even have a play area for the children and places for photo ops. Overall place was very nice food was also delicious plenty of choices for everybody. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

It’s a pity, but I did not really enjoy eating here. We were waiting a bit too long for the service and after that everything we wanted to order was no longer available. Then after re-choosing meals, these weren’t available as well. So we ended up with omelette (cold) and duck (really small portion, half of it just bones). It’s probably good to visit before the peak hour if you really want to eat what you choose.
On the other hand, the server was really kind to us and atmosphere of the restaurant was nice
They serve good food (Vietnamese food). If you’re looking for Western or European food, this place is not for you. But if you want to enjoy local vnese food, this is by far one of the best places to enjoy. Food is served hot. There’s a staff who can speak english for foreign customers. The place seems very homey. I have visited this place 5 times and I still want to visit this same place for local vnese food.
The restaurant is located in a quiet area and has a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere - nicely decorated.
Service was great and some servers spoke English. There is an English language menu available.
We had 3 dishes which were very good - BBQ Pork Belly, Fried Eggplant and Braised Duck - served with complimentary rice.
With 2 beers and 2 lemonade, the bill was 174,000 VND - about $10 Australian. Highly recommended.
Had a fabulous lunch here after a long trip to Can Tho. The restaurant is located on a quieter street, is super charming and the staff were all friendly and nice.
The food was delicious. Pretty much everything on the menu is meant to be eaten with rice and we had the braised duck, the pork belly and a side of the morning glory and it was exactly what we needed. Hit the spot!
Food was soooo tasty - rice portions with dishes are big so mind for one person! Worked for me as I was starving, and traveling. I could have had more but had an overnight bus to catch. Cute set up. Herbal-y “chamomile” tea was great too. Served with lots of ice. I wish I could go back!
My third attempt to eat here as most places are usually closed during Tet week. The food was good and they were generous with the rice, unlike many other places. Arrive early if you want claypot rice or their other dishes that sell out quickly. Many options from the dinner combo that I ordered. You get a main entree, soup, option of claypot or steamed rice, iced tea, and fresh veggies which I barely touched. Some type of dressing would have been nice. Will definitely return.
We were recommend this restaurant by our Hotel (Queenie House) for local vietnamese food and were very happy with it!
We had four dishes:
- 'Braised Dried Basa Fish' supposedly a best seller and understandably so. We loved it.
- 'Basa Fish Sour Soup' also a best seller we were told, and again we were not disappointed
- 'Stir Fried Morning Glory' wich was very good and a great side dish
- 'Rice Noodles with Fried and Fresh Spring Rolls' which was very good, we preferred the other dishes though.

You're supposed to take a small piece of the cake and wrap it with a piece of each vegetable and then dip it in the fish sauce for full experience and it is quite delicious. Recommended.

I just had to write a review about Nem Nướng Thanh Vân in Can Tho! I stumbled on this little gem while wandering around the city, and it was an absolute delight. It's definitely not a fancy place – more of a local joint with plastic tables and chairs. But that's part of the charm, you know? You get the feeling you're eating where the real Can Tho folks eat.
The star of the show, of course, is the nem nuong (grilled pork sausage). It was incredible! The meat was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and had this amazing smoky flavor from being grilled over charcoal. They serve it with a whole platter of fresh herbs, rice vermicelli noodles, pickled vegetables, and this incredible dipping sauce. I think it had a hint of peanut butter in it, which sounds weird, but trust me, it worked!
One thing to note is that the portions are pretty generous. I ordered one serving and it was plenty for lunch. Maybe even a little too much! But hey, no complaints there. And the price was fantastic – super affordable, especially for the quality of the food.

First Banh Xeo I’ve had in Can Tho, recommended by my friend. It was a good meal for 85k. I wished the banh xeo was crispy, but at least the banh khot was. Definitely different with the coconut trunk. Strips of bbq duck would have been awesome but it was ground duck meat instead with occasional bone fragments to pick out. Generous mound of vegetables. I’m glad I tried it but wouldn’t be my go to spot for banh xeo.

The best sizzling crepes (bánh xèo) in town, in my opinion. My personal favorite is the bánh xèo with coconut core 😉(củ hủ dừa). The mini pancake (bánh khọt) is also an excellent choice. Neither dish is overly oily, and they are served hot with a bountiful assortment of fresh mixed vegetables. Highly recommended - they are absolutely worth the experience.

I was recommended to come here if I wanted a great piece of steak. This is by far one of the best I have had in my lifetime. I ordered the tenderloin steak medium, and it was cooked to perfection. Every piece just melted in the mouth. There is not a lot that comes with it but just enough to compliment the meat. I chose the rosemary sauce and am so glad I did. I had olives and garlic bread aperitifs. I recommend the red wine also very drinkable. The service was amazing, and they constantly refilled your water glass. I shall definitely return again and must try the goose pate on the next visit. I also wanted to try the roasted squash, but you have to pre-order this dish. I recommend that you call ahead to book a table to get the desired time. Everything was superb, thank you.

The best restaurant for meat I've tried so far in Can Tho (I've tried almost all the Western restaurants). The wait is a bit long but the dishes are good. I had green olives as an appetizer, the foie gras block and the filet mignon with two glasses of red wine. The meat is good. The cooking is respected. I asked for rare, I got it rare. On the other hand, the side dish is really small and especially the amount of wine in the glass is really very small. It doesn't correspond to standard quantities. They could make an effort on the side dish. The side dishes are not very generous but the meat is generous. They sell cheese (camembert) but there is no bread. 😭 The bill hurts a bit on the wallet but the price goes with the quality of the meat. Overall, I was delighted with this restaurant even if something goes wrong.

Our best place in Cat Tho!!! We kept coming back every day and the staff always greeted us with smiles and provided great service. Cai Rang Floating Market is a vibrant and bustling marketplace located about 6km from Can Tho City in Vietnam. It is renowned for being the largest floating market in the Mekong Delta, attracting hundreds of boats each day. The market offers a wide variety of agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, fish, and meat, as well as prepared food and drink items like rice noodles and fruit juice.
These days, the market isn’t as crowded or lively as it used to be. Most of it now is set up for tourists to experience local life.
A private boat trip costs around 500k vnd. If you want to save money, you can join a shared boat, but usually need to wait until about 7 AM when enough people show up.
It’s worth going early to catch the sunrise,the river view in the morning is peaceful and beautiful.
Boats on the river sell quick bites like bun mam and hu tieu. You’ll also find boats selling fruit and handmade local crafts, pretty fun to check out!
People here live on their boats and do everything from cooking to trading right there, it’s a unique lifestyle of the Mekong Delta.
If you’re in Can Tho, this is definitely something you should experience!

After a very early start we travelled by boat to this floating market. Enjoyable boat ride but the market was very underwhelming. More tourist boats than market boats! This tourist attraction may be in decline as the real market activity is increasingly on land.
The photos they post on google and on their adverts are very outdated, so this is like “expectation” vs “reality”
We went to the Cai Rang Floating Market to experience their so call “vibrant floating market” hoping we would see the same things as what we saw on google and on the tours advertisements.
We took the private boat tour and even went there very early because they said that the market starts at 6am, and it’s better to come early because that is when the floating market are busier but i’ll let you be the judge, I have attached some photos for your reference.
Nevertheless, the experience is still cool up to an extent
Our tour includes a visit to the Cacao farm (but they ask for entrance fee at the farm whether you are in a tour or just walk-in)
And a two more places along the Mekong Delta but it will always depend on your agreement with the tour agents
Very little left of what we were told is the last floating market - now it is only wholesale and most business with tourist boats is for food and drink; this is very limited too (mid November 2025). The area of boats stretches about 200 metres when it used to be over 1 kilometre. Could I recommend a visit? For socioeconomic reasons you should go - just to see it's decline and the move to land living, for entertainment you should not. Tours are informative but the use of the waterways as a place to dispose of garbage and assumed bathroom waste from the houses is a reflection of the demographics of this and many regions of Vietnam. What never ceases to amaze and uplift me is the positive cheerful and welcoming attitude of the Vietnamese people. I would come again to Vietnam just for the people.
The floating market was not so special. It was very organized and made only for tourists. The real river markets are probably only deeper inside the country. But the breakfast — Pho soup on the river — was very good. The taste was even better because of the nice atmosphere. Price 2 USD, for the soup.
Cai Rang Floating Market is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Can Tho. We woke up early to enjoy a pleasant boat ride to the market. Although it now caters more to tourists than serving as a traditional market, it was still enjoyable to see a part of the traditional lifestyle in the Mekong Delta, where people sell food and fruit directly from their boats.
Get there whilst you can. Our tour guide said there used to be 15 floating markets, but with the increase of bridges and modern vehicles, there is only 1 left. This market is subsidised by the government yo try and keep it alive. It's certainly an experience worth having a look at.

Nothing about this works. Around the pier, people will try to sell you overpriced tickets, but the truth is: there’s nothing worth seeing.
You’ll have to wake up at 4:30 AM because boats are supposed to leave at 5. In reality, we spent an hour sitting at the pier waiting for latecomers. The “tour” then takes you to have “breakfast” at 6:30, where a few small boats approach to sell fruit, then to another stop to buy groceries, then yet another stop to buy miscellaneous goods in a bazaar.
It’s a tourist trap from start to finish, with nothing genuinely interesting to see. The guides only speak Vietnamese, so you’ll have no idea what you’re doing or where you are. You’ll be hopping on and off the boat endlessly, like livestock, after waking up in the middle of the night.

My partner got the pad Thai with tofu which she did not like and ended up not eating. They also only carry 1 Vietnamese beer, which they were out of when we were there.
This restaurant is located on the 6th floor of the hotel. The food is okay for me but the dishes we ordered were heavily seasoned with salt and additives. The staff were friendly and good at making recommendations, however, one demerit point is that they served drinking water for the table without telling us that they are not free. It turned out to be that we had to pay x 3 water bottles at roughly 12 USD totally which we did not intend to do that, while we got the thai milktea at the same price as water bottle. It is kind of ridiculous.

2nd, if you are counting, the signage or lack thereof. Our Grab driver gave up even though it turns out that we were less than 50m away. It was only my persistence, and a call to the restaurant, that got us there. There is a super small high street sign no more than 1ft wide with the name which still says Hell - I think. For yr convenience, Hell is in an alley near the very of lane, on the right. You didn't think it was that close, right? ;-)
I should mention the cocktails we had instead of usual wine were very good, albeit somewhat slow. Btw, if you want wine, you are basically out of luck, which i think is something of an error. The focus is firmly on cocktails and spirits.
As said, the food was uniformly excellent, and well plated.
We had one of the very tasty 'degustation' menus. That was because I was much too hasty and did not notice that they had all those dishes as individual dishes as well on the menus at the back. Silly me, but it did mean we tried some different tasty dishes, but too much for these two not-big eaters, but my wife adored the hand-made chocolates - which we never would have ordered.
The salmon was prob the stand-out, although the duck breast was also excellent. and the chocolates of course. :-)
Now. The quibbles.
1. The biggest service error was not changing plates AND cutlery after each course - which is standard practice, and especially serving salmon after a heavy creamy pasta dish. This was a point that the waiter seemed to have a problem comprehending to my surprise, given his otherwise excellent service.
Now about the menu I selected.
2. The initial garlic bread was ok, but .. not in keeping w the rest of the tasty menu. Just quick & easy.
3. The quite tasty prawn pasta dish was just too creamy and heavy in this long menu. It needs something lighter and, dare I say, more interesting.
Otherwise, excellent.
4. Given these are shared dishes, some dishes needed serving spoons eg the duck salad.
5. The table cloths were just inappropriate and dysfunctional, ie, 'not fit for purpose'. And just not simple, functional and elegant - which is what was called for. For a point of difference, plain black, or dark burgundy would work.
6. Although quite tasty, although possibly lacking actual alcohol, the serving glass was totally underwhelming, unlike for example, the glass for my later very tasty classic Sidecar. See photo.
7. Final quibble was actually final: the BILL had additional tax added that was NOT incl in listed price. This a big 'no no'! You simply do NOT do this (unless there is a very clear statement). Restaurants who do this go to Hell. ;-)
Note to owner, as a professional in both food & beverage, and marketing, can I suggest a much clearer understandable, and much stronger, more empathetic marketing and brand name change

This is not fast food, everything is freshly prepared for you so come with time to appreciate the peaceful surroundings - and come early enough in your trip to have time to re-visit.

After trying a few tasty dishes on our first night in Can Tho, we had to come back the next day to try some more. The place is very beautifully decorated and has many relaxing areas. At the main entrance area, there were many wind chimes hanging that made beautiful music while I sat waiting for my food. This was peaceful. There is more seating upstairs. The washroom is behind a floating divider, and they are clean and a nice washbasin and mirror. There are stairs by washrooms to an indoor garden like area with more tables.
I am not sure that the staff were very happy to serve me. I felt like I shouldn't have been there. It was a shame when the place was so beautiful.

Could feed 4 !! This dish you add tofu , noodle and greens to the pot to cook and ladle it out to eat. Everyone eats the duck pieces with their fingers and it’s a bit messy and fun and tasted amazing.
The staff were very friendly and helped to show what to do.

Too extreme for me. The duck hotpot had an insanely strong smell and taste because of fermented tofu. Moreover, the meat literally consisted in floating chunks of duck with bones and everything. 🤢 The whole restaurant, including tables and chairs, wasn’t clean at all. Most of the staff was 13 years old and didn’t speak a single word of English. They only accept cash.
I definitely found it authentic, probably too much for my personal tastes.

The market is indoors and sheltered nicely from the heat and rain. It is fairly small but quiet and they sell lots of clothing, souvenirs and sundry goods. The view is very nice looking out at the river. It can get stuffy and hot though. Prices were slightly high for postcards but other souvenirs were reasonably priced. Spent about thirty minutes there looking for gifts for my friends- postcards, magnets and some t-shirts.
The clothes market to me is not interesting but the food market is great. Lots of activity and some great looking food. Great place to buy fruit as there aren't many places in Can Tho that have anywhere near the choice so stock up.
A small clean market on the Mekong, worth visiting.
At night, the market becomes bustling and sparkling under magical lights. Visitors will be overwhelmed by the charming ancient beauty that is no less than the ancient town of Hoi An. Asian architecture with multi-storey tiled roofs together with harmonious river water are special highlights that make Tay Do night market an attractive destination.
Can Tho Market, if in the City, do visit that place, it will give you a great insight in the local culture and products. Each visit to Can Tho I visit the Market as I enjoy the vibe there as well as finding items which kind of special in the area and always great quality.
