We booked a table in advance which was fine, but unfortunately the table was dirty when we arrived. I asked for it to be cleaned and a rather grumpy waitress came over, gave it a quick wipe, and in the process just spread the crumbs around. I ended up having to use the laminated menu to scrape the table clean myself, which left a layer of grease and crumbs on the edge of the menu – not a great start. I ordered the vegan thali but found it very salty and more like a ready meal than freshly made. On the other hand, my wife and son enjoyed their meals, so perhaps I was unlucky with my choice. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and has a cosy feel, which was a positive. Overall though, the experience was mixed and let down by the service and the food in my case.

Was looking for somewhere a bit different to have lunch on a short visit to Buxton, and this café caught my eye! I was greeted by a friendly and smiley young waitress who made me feel really welcome. The café was very busy, almost full, but she found me a table close to the entrance. I loved the cosy but vibrant atmosphere, and the colourful Indian decor with its intricate artwork and abundant floral decoration. Family friendly and dog friendly. The toilets are up a flight of stairs, but they were clean and well kept. There was lots of choice on the menu, from street food to imaginative main courses, and breakfasts with an Indian twist. I ordered the Desi English Breakfast, which combined the familiar British bacon, sausage, fried egg and mushrooms with potatoes flavoured with cumin and a bowl of masala spiced beans. Well cooked, with just the right level of spiciness, and ample portions. There was a wide choice of unusual and creative hot and cold drinks, but I opted for the straight latte, and it was very good. Pity I was so full, because there was a tempting selection of cakes and pastries to try. Service was both quick and attentive, and the prices were very reasonable. I was so glad I found this place! Would happily recommend!

Had amazing brunch at the Chakra Lounge today. Perfect comfort food. Drinks to recommend Turmeric latte and Dirty Chai Latte. Food to recommend gluten free breakfast and the Tikka eggs Benedict with mushrooms salmon and spinach on sour dough.

Lovely food, lots of choice in the menu. Good portion sizes. Nice friendly venue, with a nice atmosphere. Not expensive, and staff helpful if struggling to make a choice. Toilets upstairs so not accessible, but were nice and clean.

If you want something a little different for your breakfast, try this place, with perfectly spiced food. I tried the Indian spiced scrambled eggs, with mushroom on sourdough bread. A real treat! Cosy atmosphere, good service and friendly staff. The coffee and cakes are great too! Recommended.

Great brunch spot. The menu is refreshingly different from the usual items you see. One of our group had the scrambled eggs and said it was the best they'd ever had! Healthy portions abound so come hungry! The twists to each dish worked well and weren't too overpowering. My benedict sauce was light and not too sickly. Eggs were done well. We shared a French toast which was perfect too. Took home a cruffin which went down well with a cuppa. Service was on point.

absolute treasure in centre of Buxton! (honestly nearly didn’t pop in but sooooo glad we did) ! Delicious matcha latte and THE BEST GF Vegan cake I have ever eaten: Almond and pistachio torte. Staff are lovely and friendly and (NB we called in to a Pudding Emporium around the corner to enquire if we could have a cuppa - got extremely frosty reception) so happy to have discovered Chakra longe!

Beautiful gardens with free street parking if you can find it or loads of paid parking either around the town or in the gardens which can be located by the main road. Free public toilets, a small railway train that goes around the park for £2.50 per person, lasts around 5 minutes and is very cute, allowing you to see and take in the park from different angles. Theres loads of different paths, trees, wildlife and plants, some with information plaques, as well as frequent benches, bins and play parks for the kids. Extremely child, disabled and pet friendly. The streams, ponds and riverways are very well kept, as is the whole park and its lovley to see the ducks and wildlife enjoy it too.

Nice easy walk round a pond. Lots of water birds, ducks ,geese, herons. Quite a bit of duck poo on paths near pond. Nice bar, cafe, swimming pool, music venue.

Love the pavilion gardens here in Buxton. Some nice snack/eateries, locally made beers and I particularly like the "hot house" garden, and walking around the park.

What a lovely and unique place. We walked around gardens for a bit, lots of wild birds, small water lakes, had live music playing, which made atmosphere really nice.

Disability freindly in most of Buxton pavilion.Family freindly clean beautiful park and buildings, small train ride in the park lots of geese and other birds in the park.a small river running through the park.you have Buxton opera house with a tea room and inside garden area.not far away is the famous Buxton spring water well you can use your own bottle and fill it for free.You could have a full day out here all while including a day at the opera.

This restaurant was an absolute gem of a find! Absolutely incredible staff, so friendly & helpful. The atmosphere was bustling & lively, but not too loud. Really beautiful decor too. But the food?! It was out of this world. Hands down the best meal of our holiday. We had the set menu, there were 4 of us, and the staff were happy to tweak it slightly (one likes very spicy food, the rest more medium). Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely go again.

We were a party of three here for an evening meal, in this very authentic Thai restaurant. The chefs are Thai, the waitresses, bar one, are Thai, the proprietor is Thai, all the staff were dressed as Thais, and there was a real Thai welcome too to this very clean and fresh feeling place. The three of us ate a very good cross-section of Thai food on offer, and ALL of it was excellent - perhaps I should point out here that two of the party had previously lived in Thailand for thirteen years and speak Thai, and so they really know their Thai food! And the cost, well, coming from London, we were amazed at the value! We just wished we had an equivalent nearer to where we live!

Excellent lunch specials ! Can in for the lunch special and indeed was special! The pad Thai was excellent, and so were the pad sir ew and rice chicken lard. Very satisfied and would 100% come back if we can around this area again.

We were recommended this restaurant by the owners of our holiday cottage and we're happy they did. Plenty of choice from a varied menu , very friendly staff and most of all: delicious food! And of course, as always, vegetarian friendly.

Had a great time at the Tap House while visiting Buxton. We stopped by for lunch and went with a couple of sharing plates. Food was great and the variety of beers is amazing. Decided to try the Deepdale, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Staff are also super kind and welcoming. Would definitely come back if we visit the region again.

We were in the Peak District for the bank holiday weekend travelling down from Newcastle. Booked for Sunday lunch as recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint! One of the best Sunday lunches we’ve ever had! All amazing! The ales are fab as well, my husband loved them and as the designated driver the fact that they had a low alco ale available was brilliant and very good! If you do decide to try this I’d recommend booking a table.

Visited this place by chance and I liked it. You will find a good selection of beer and you can taste them. Place has a good atmosphere and staff is really friendly. The food was good, burger very tasty. There is no parking lot, it with some luck you may be able to park your car in front where you will find few marked areas. It is far from where I live, otherwise for sure I would be back.

We had such a lovely evening here last night! The food was absolutely delicious — we started with the arancini which were perfectly crispy and full of flavour. For mains, we had the stacked burger and the lasagne — both were amazing, cooked to perfection and full of taste. The atmosphere was fantastic too, with brilliant live music that really added to the experience. Couldn’t fault a thing. Highly recommend and we’ll definitely be back!

Underwhelming food, below par service. Not suitable for big groups. We booked this place as a large group, and from the second we arrived we felt like we were an inconvenience to the staff. It seemed they were too busy for us. We had to pre order food, however it was a hassle making amendments to the food 8 out of 10 us got the burger and every single one of us complained about the bacon- it came out virtually raw- we asked for crispier bacon and to be fair to the waitress she did bring some back. However when I mentioned this when paying just as some constructive critism, I was told by the waitress ‘ the chefs do like to do the bacon slightly lighter than I like’ I said the bacon is raw- there’s no 2 questions about it Some ordered the beef cheek and pancetta pie- it looked very nice on the plate but lacked taste. I feel bad writing this review as it had great previous reviews hence why we booked it, however it was very underwhelming

Lovely place, good selection of beers. I had the sirloin steak which was very well cooked - although I asked for medium rare and it was more of a medium - but the flavour and sear was so nice I didn’t really mind. Had the arancini for starters which was also really nice. Big portions for the mains. A bit noisy inside but it was full.

We had really good meal at Ithaca on Saturday evening. The owner was very accommodating with the booking which was last minute. The food was good and all items hot (apart from salad), we ordered the sea bass (which partner thought was exceptional) and cod and shared a Greek salad. Portion sizes were good. The service was very good and attentive apart from initial wait for menus.

Food was absolutelyfabulous. My partner had sardines for starters, which were wonderful. I had seafood orzotto for my main and the waitress noticed I needed a spoon and brought me one before I could even ask, not often I've experienced that level of service. Looking forward to our next visit.

The team there are the best thing about the restaurant, but the food is bland and overpriced. I had the cod which was literally tasted of pure garlic and nothing else, my wife had the steak which tasted of pure garlic, with her 7 chips, very very disappointed, won't go here ever again. The photos online make this restaurant look high end, unfortunately it's not like this at all, not even average.

Absolutely top notch dining experience at Ithaca. Highly recommend you book a table as other potential diners that hadn't booked were turned away. Anyhow , warm welcome on arrival , delicious food and good service , what else do you need ? There is an extensive menu and it was difficult to pick as there were so many nice dishes so as a compromise we chose one main dish and then added 4 starter dishes and a portion of fries. All cooked to perfection and packed full of flavour. Full plates to empty plates tells you all you need to know. Overall , a super dining experience and can't wait to visit again No hesitation in recommending, enjoy !!

Came on Sunday for a roast. I got the veggie option with the beetroot wellington which was nice as it was hot, but the rest of the food was not warm. Potatoes looked nice and crispy but actually tasted old and hard on the outside. My glass with ice in it made my drink taste weird. The staff were attentive and overall it is a nice pub, but unfortunately the food let it down so I wouldn’t come here again for food.

Excellent Sunday Lunch, we had Turkey crown large portion, the turkey wasn't dry and there was plenty. So had Cauliflower cheese. Nice atmosphere and good service.

We called into The Old Sun Inn with friends. Everything from the welcome, the ambience, the food and the team were absolutely without fault. The menu is huge and very varied. There’s something for everyone. The team are really welcoming and do a fantastic job. My wife is a manual wheelchair user; we found the accessibility to be really good. There’s step-free access at the back and the inside of the pub is step-free. We really enjoyed our meal and I’m well chuffed I picked the Old Sun!

We had our wedding reception at No.6 this weekend. It was absolutely fantastic, ran like clockwork and the team here are so lovely, welcoming and professional. The venue is stunning, and really showcases the unique heritage of Buxton in the beautiful High-Peak of North Derbyshire. The catering was out of this world and was exactly what we’d hoped it would be and more. Our guests were raving about the whole event - it was perfect!! We would recommend ‘No.6 The Tearooms’ to anyone who is looking for an intimate venue in a beautiful setting, any day of the week. We will be back to celebrate an anniversary without any doubt. Thanks!!

I had hoped, after having travelled many miles, and booking well in advance, that afternoon tea would have been a lovely precursor to a show at the Opera House. Unfortunately it was not. There are 3 areas in the restaurant: a lovely lounge area, a cosy more rural themed area and the service area, where staff are coming back and forth and people pay at the till in front of the counter. On arrival I was seated in the service area. Someone really needs to get the staff to understand that afternoon tea is an experience not just food. That's why you pay more!!!!. However, after being relocated tea was brought out. The sandwiches were too thickly filled and had one half white bread and one half brown. It didn't taste right and staff should ask which is preferable. Then the Scones...just awful. I couldn't eat mine. So big, but dense, salty and dry. It was like eating a lump of brown bread with jam and cream. If it wasn't for the raisins I would have mistaken them for that. The cakes were nice, but only one pavlova and there were two of us. I would have reflected all this back, but no-one came to ask us if everything was ok. It was a busy day but that is no excuse. I still had to pay £54, not value for money and will not be back or be recommending.

Lovely place to eat,and very nice interior with different tea pots around the room. Food was very nice. Portion for the sandiwch and quiche was nice. Jacket potatoe found was a tad small compared to a normal jacket potatoe but everything still.tasted well and service is great. The dessert so many to choose from but the lemon cake and the choclate torte and freshly made scone and clotted cream was amazing. Would recommend

Beautiful old hotel. A little tired but didn't deter, and the very old lift a bit of a hairy ride!! Lol part of charm and character Upgrade booking not updated. Four poster Room booked not available. Sadly Disappointed. Alistair dealt with well. Very theatrical! Alternative room spacious. Lovely double aspect. Massive bed. Small bathroom. Minimal tea tray, toiletries. Staff really lovely, service fabulous. Attentive. Helpful. Breakfast first day poor both hardly ate. Second day better breakfast alone. Evening meals delicious, beautiful dining room. Lovely relaxed lounge. Perfect location in centre. Beautiful surroundings. Will return

My daughter and I spent a wonderful day here at the Buxton Crescent spa for my birthday. It was a great experience. The staff were brilliant and made us feel very welcome. The pools and saunas were lovely and everywhere was spotlessly clean. The lunch we had was delicious. We both had the Indian head massage treatments. Very relaxing and very chilled afterwards. Would definitely do this again.

We plumped for a four-poster room that was spacious, decently appointed, but somewhat tired, with the bathroom in particular not seeming to have been cleaned with any real effort or conviction since the long-haired brunette who had clearly stayed before us. On the plus side, the large double bed was remarkably comfortable. The first experience was with a rather curt and disinterested bearded gentleman on reception, but redeemingly his reception colleagues elsewhere during our stay were polite and cheerful. The bar was cosy and welcoming albeit a tad expensive, with the late-night bar girl pleasant and chatty. Breakfast was a self-service affair, although the food was hot, fresh and tasty. The breakfast waiter was remarkably, politely and pleasingly exuberant.

This is the second time we've stayed at the Old Hall Hotel. The first time we were really impressed and this time even more so. We had a beautiful large room, four poster bed, spotlessly clean. Beautiful towels and linen. Hospitality tray was excellent. Really enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast. So much choice,staff were very attentive. Parking outside and a three minute walk to the theatre. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic experience at a hidden gem. Went there with family for a Sunday roast with all the trimmings. We were given a huge plate of freshly carved roast beef, which was all home made (even the horseradish), followed by a scrumptious Eton Mess, all for an incredibly good price. Restaurant is in a great location as you can see the gardens outside. Beautiful, old world setting. Service was great too. The manager - who wore a Scottish kilt to honour the hotel's history - couldn't have been more helpful.

We booked this through an online voucher at a good price. The hotel was beautiful. The staff were exceptional, couldnt have been more friendly or helpful. The evening meal was delicious and a great range of items at the buffet breakfast. Loved relaxing in the lounge after dinner. Great location too. Will definitely return

This 16th century hotel is now inevitably getting a little tired with crumbling ceilings and broken window panes, however despite this it holds loads of charm with stories of famous old visitors and ancient furniture dotted around. Our Sunday roast meal was very nice and the staff are warm and friendly. Nicely situated next to the Pavilion Gardens and Opera House!

I love local restaurants in Buxton, but I love this Sacro too. Staff is amazing, food is great especially when you go with kids - meals are cheap, fresh! It would be lovely to invest and buy a few toys for kids like jigsaws or small one to play at the table. We are visiting Sacro very often and I cannot say any bad word about this place!

Such a lovely place. Really nice inside, our server was lovely. Didn't catch a name but for having only been working there 2 weeks we was really impressed. She went over our order carefully 3 times to make sure it was all correct due to our little girl having coeliacs disease. Food was 10/10. Such a shame we dont have one in Norwich.

Been in Sacro a few times and always enjoyed the food. Plenty of seating spaces available, great selection of drinks, food can be ordered via QR code which is very convenient.

We visit here every time we are in the area, and it is always brilliant! Lovely setting, staff are wonderful and food is incredible! Between us we had a couple of burgers (the diablo smash burger was great), a brunch and the pasta (pictured). Good variety of drinks and although we didn't have allergies, it seemed that these would be well catered for. The menu was clearly laid out for different diets too.

Came here for a Saturday evrning Meal, having been to many Thai restaurants, based on location, interior and reviews I thought it would be pretty good. I think the food is mediocre at best, it's catering for English tastes. Very bland small portions. We had the starter to share and everything was dripping in oil. Number 22 curry which does not come with rice, you have to buy separately, was very sweet and again small portions, not like the large deep bowls I'm used to. Also the food gets very cold quickly in these shallow dishes. All in all a very disappointing experience indeed.

It's a hidden gem in Buxton for Thai lovers. We came to know about this place from a Thai originate lady who recommended to try this restaurant once. It's worth visiting if you are in Buxton and like to try Thai food. Service was a bit slow, but food was delicious. They have a good range of food options from starter to the Main dish. We tried their Duck as a main and it was soft, tender and juicy.

Our first evening (25th January) on our Peak District trip, (staying at Green Lane B&B, Buxton), we'd walked about 5mins to arrive at Khomkhai Thai restaurant (almost hidden away in the back alleyway). Good choices available in the food and drinks menus. The food came out hot and quickly. However, we discovered later on that we actually didn't have any scallops with our order of the sizzling "Talay Jan Ron" (in the menu it stated: mixed seafood of prawns, scallops, mussels and squid). Which was very disappointing as the presence of the scallops would justify the high price for this dish. Some dishes were alittle on the sweet side and some on the salty side. But overall, it was cooked and tasted ok. There are two front doors! With no clear signs we had to go with trial and error and found the entrance door was the one on the right-hand side. We were warmly greeted and seated by the young waitress. We didn't book but there were plenty of tables available (at 5.40pm, Wednesday 25th January), although most of them had been reserved for later dining (7pm onwards). The dining area is lovely decorated with Thailand Buddha sculptures, paintings and plants. Service was friendly from both the waitresses and the kitchen staff. There is a public paid car park opposite which provides free parking after 6pm.

Lately I’m finding Buxton buzzing and returning to its former glory… I spent many years as a kid here and my dear late grandfather used to consider The New Inn ‘his spot’ . After a few years closed imagine how delighted I am to see an independent offer and the glorious doors swinging open once again. Gorge refurbishment using traditional materials, colours and furniture… very cozy nooks and crannies, open fireplaces and even a ‘snug’ at the rear… The menu is made up of easy crowd pleasing items, if you’re looking for a Sunday roast this is not the place but they do have a tasty brunch menu and full marks for bringing something a little different. My deep fried cod baguette and fries was tasty and simple whilst my chum munched away on a Wagyu brunch burger in silence so I can only assume it hit the spot… Beer offer looked great and I hear well kept plus there are plenty of wine and soft drink options. Lovely job

First time in Buxton and wont be the last, staff were really friendly and invited us out of town folk to the quiz. Great time at the pub, stayed a little later for some extra fluids. Dog friendly which is always a win!

In my opinion this is a close second to the Sun Inn as the best pub in Buxton. Excellent ale, choice of drinks & snacks, real fire, good lighting & decor, good music at the right volume & knowledgeable, friendly staff. I will be back to try the food.

Great pub, well decorated throughout. Service was excellent. Good range of ales. Thursday night is excellent value. Pint of cruzcampo (other options available) wagywu burger with 4 topping options, and seasoned fries all for £17.95. Great value for good quality drink and food.

I feel blessed having three pubs in a few hundred yards of each other, where sitting and chatting is the primary business model. No gaming machines, jukebox or TVs. Just great beer, food and lovely staff. The New Inn, is by far the cozyest, especially with the fire roaring.

We made a large order and it all came a little earlier than expected which is always a bonus. Everything was delicious, hot and fresh and we had 0 complaints. The restaurant really looked after us with a couple of freebies due to a high order which was very much appreciated and we’ll most definitely be ordering again as we have done prior anyway. I don’t usually think much to Buxton takeaways, I use tikka villa time and time again for various meals and also chicken kebabs etc love the fresh naan. Delivery prompt and special thanks to the female driver who finds me in the depths of Flagg with no problem!!!

Ordered a takeaway from the Tikka Villa as we were on holiday locally. Food was ready on time and handover nice and simple. Parking out the front for quick pickup of orders. Food was tasty. My Chicken Pathia was on the hotter end of the scale so be aware if you’re on the cusp of heat levels.

Popped in to collect a takeaway whilst staying at a local campsite - really good food! My chicken tikka chom chom was excellent, but wish I’d ordered a naan roll - they looked tip top.

Absolutely disgusting food definitely not kfc burnt dried up chicken not edible some parts were green. First time in over 2 years had one, up all night vomiting, & no email address to complain & as always chips cold & burnt never again would I purchase food from there. Total waste of £22

We usually pick this branch nearby us. £7.88 20 chicken wings promotion must try 😍 The chicken wings is fried just fine, crunchy skin and still keep juicy inside. Staff is helpful and cleanness is acceptable here.

We’ve been sent an absolute load of soggy and luke warm inedible 💩 tonight! The chicken was pink too, proper micky take & almost £40 for what I’d not give a dog. I’ll be ringing HQ tomorrow to get a refund. I’ve rang the branch and told them and they put the phone down on me, I rang back couple of times and they wouldn’t answer the phone, I wonder why 🤷🏻‍♀️ Absolutely disgusting treatment from a big brand.

Bought a regular frise and i tell you there was no more than 10 luke warm chips. I suggest that you buy your chips from MC Donalds next door where you can get a decent portion of hot chips Because this gaff are as tight as you can get.

Called at the place en route back home from Derby. Hate the self service screens but the staff very happy to take other a t counter thank goodness. For elderly and or infirm customers the self service units are unsuitable. Great personal service with a smile. Thank you KFC.

Probably won't be returning here, KFC's quality has gone to the dogs and is a shadow of its former self. I bought a mighty bucket for one and the wings were tiny, they were the tips of the chicken wings which contain little to no chicken

Various home made options on the menu. I tried their fish cake which was huge and full of fish chunks. Very tasty fish cake but sadly the chips were disappointing with some barely cooked. Staff were pleasant enough and I was warned there was a few minutes wait for the fish cake.

I've sadly just made what will likely be my last visit to the coach house. My family and I have been going here for many years, and I even recommend it to visitors. Today however was different. Very small amount of barely cooked chips, incredibly lumpy curry sauce, and a pie still frozen in the middle. Add a can if drink and unfortunately this was not worth the £12+ I paid to the young lady who was obviously in a hurry to get home. I'm sure this isn't the norm, but I just won't risk it for that price sorry.

The food was alright. The portions could've been a bit better tho and the food was a bit expensive.

Great place, house was well equipped. There's a Tesco nearby Incase you need groceries. Didn't encounter any issues and the hosts were great.

THE worst Fish and Chip shop I've encountered and I've lived all over the UK. It's not so much as their food is bog-standard, it's their rip off prices. As I am local went in today for just a portion of chips as had a takeaway meal waiting. Was expecting a hefty £3.00 but no....£3.80 for small limp chips in a tray. Rip off and the girls serving have the personalities of a statue

Nice fish and chip shop. Food tasty and staff polite I do think charging 1.60 for gravy is a bit mad. Is it the same price regardless of big or small chips.

Very expensive, £3.50 for a portion of pie smaller than a Greggs pasty. We ordered a spam fritter and were served a cold slice of spam, see pictures. Its quite clearly not a spam fritter, worst bit was someone had taken the time to wrap the cold slice of spam on a tray. Would have gone back to complain but it's a 10 minute journey and we wanted to eat the rest of the food before it went cold. You would think for the over inflated prices your food would be at the very least cooked.

Lovely friendly family! Waited for food to be cooked, so we knew it was fresh! I've never been asked if I'd lime a slice of lemon on my fish , what a lovely touch! Large portions and lovely quality!

Whilst visiting family in Buxton, we had a takeaway from Fairfield Plaice. The shop was very clean, service with a smile and the food was freshly cooked. Thoroughly enjoyed our takeaway and would definitely use again.

Lovely staff :) Got to be the nicest chip shop in Buxton and by a long shot too. Also really well priced with nice deals on. Staff were very friendly, food sorted quickly and the chips were super crispy and tasty! Won't be going anywhere else for fish and chips any time soon! :)

Good quality fish n chips. Freshly cooked, and cooked well. Only small so expect a wait at busy times.

Friendly service, Delicious food. They would probably benefit from having a little table and chairs or stools to sit on at the side but other than that, absolutely fantastic.

I have not tried Fairfield Plaice for 2 years so I thought it about time I gave it another go. My last review was a single star as it didn’t impress in any way…..what a difference!! Mini fish : Perfect batter; golden, light and crispy. The fish itself was very tasty moist and had a beautiful texture…I genuinely savoured every mouthful. Portion size was good value but so tasty I could definitely be greedy and have two. Chips - reasonable portion size and again perfectly cooked good amount of classic chunky chips with a few of those lovely little crispy scraps. Service : Excellent friendly and efficient My biggest concern now is I live too close and I have no willpower.

Went in a while ago and it was spot on. This time however, different story.. After arriving home from the chippy in less than 10 minutes and tucking in, we found fish and chips to be less than warm, same with the mushy peas and curry sauce. Not very tasty either. Ordered a large cod but got 2 small ones. Staff were friendly but seemed a little confused as to our order. Also I'm not keen on being called 'pal' tbh. 5 of us eating and we all felt the same. Sorry but is what it is. Will try elsewhere in future.

Disappointed with Quality – Not Worth the Price I was really disappointed with my recent order of fish and chips. The fish was mostly batter with very little actual fish inside — definitely not what I expected. The chips were equally underwhelming, mostly made up of small, scrappy bits rather than proper, thick-cut chips. Oddly, both pieces of fish were packed separately in their own polystyrene containers — which seemed wasteful and unnecessary. From a business perspective, that alone must be adding needless cost. I’d rate the fish 3 out of 10, and the chips just about a 5. I understand it was a Monday, but for a quick meal that cost over £20, the quality should have been much better. Unfortunately, I won’t be ordering from here again.

Really impressed with the communication and service from the team at Harpur's Plaice. We recently placed a group order for 29 people for collection on a Saturday night - everything was ready on time, and in insulated bags, which we really appreciated. Highly recommend!

At last..!! A large Cod that is actually Cod.. large ..and cooked to perfection with a nice crispy batter.. generous portion of chips and mushy peas too.. sensibly priced as well! A chip shop like they used to be.. I shall be coming back for more!

Tried here sun night ordered large donner on naan donner on a tray and a bottle of Diet Coke. With delivery to chapel it was £24.50 So not the cheapest and my expectations were naturally high . It arrived late as drivers sat nav took him the wrong way and was only luke warm (not his fault) after a last in the Microwave we had our meal. Well what can I say it was the tastiest donner I’ve had in the U.K. and I’ve had a lot (living in Istanbul) paired with a pillowy soft and very tasty garlic naan chilli sauce chilli sauce was delicious hot but not overbearing chips are chips but a nice touch offering salt and vinegar. All I all 100% 10/10 at the price with delivery can’t afford to order often but as a treat my new go to in summary excellent food well cooked and plenty of it.

Pitta chicken kebab fell apart as soon as I picked it up. Salad and sauces were bland. Pitta bread was very poor quality. My friend ordered a vindaloo and that was totally flavourless - just salty heat. Only good parts were the chicken in the kebab - tasty and well-cooked.

Mohammed Shakeel the first face you will see when you walk in the shop makes a good kebab and nothing is any problems with him he just gets on with it. I've not had one bad meal from here in all the years I've been using the takeaway. The mix shashlik is one of the best kebabs they do and also a decent meat feast pizza. All in all no issues with any of the staff there all polite and always speak when I'm in the shop. Proper ice cream milkshakes are out of this world I highly recommend the mint aero and the Oreo milkshake 2 of my favourites. Boss man Mohammed kassam is very approachable if you have any issues with anything and appreciates any feedback on his staff

Great place for a take away. Came here on a recommendation from a local couple as we were in Buxton for a weekend away. Ordered 2 kebabs and 2 fries - wow ! Perhaps THE biggest mixed kebab I've ever had...! The regular sized one was huge too!! So big we could only eat half a kebab each. Loads of fresh salad, if required. And loads of gorgeous crispy fries. Delicious food at a great price. The 2 lads running the shop were a great laugh too (hope your leg is better now....!). Fabulous place. We'll be back. Last night I buyed chicken and chips, it was very Bad taste, annoying smell, it was contaminated chicken, ahhhhh....

Buxton has quite a number of very good chippies and this is one of the best. Upsides: fresh and well cooked. Hot and quick orders. Great quality food. Friendly service. Decent range and sensible prices. Downsides: no scampie or gluten free options. The fish batter has been very oily a couple of times had to leave to rest and drain and use lots of vinegar/lemon juice but still very tasty. Enjoy 👍!

I try all the Fish and Chip shops in Buxton as they evolve and change hands. In my opinion this is now the best. Friendly service, good quality and range of food. Haddock is usually available and the 'sharing' portion of chips is just enough for us three. (Probably enough for two with large appetites.) They use recyclable packaging (take your own bag for large orders). Parking is tricky outside the shop but I always park in the nearby Sylvan Car Park and work up an appetite as I walk to the shop. It's only 100m after all. Only one reservation - the last time I visited, the chips were lukewarm by the time I got them home. A quick zap in the microwave was needed, but better than the dried out version that you sometimes get from elsewhere.

Having lived in Buxton for 9 months you have to try everything available to eat quickly and in my opinion this is by far the best chippy in town! You can tell it's good by those selection of potatoes, hand cut with good oil and care put in. I love that you get big chips, medium chips and little crunchy ones in your portion and all cooked to same consistency 👍🏻 Not tried fish yet but had a sausage in batter and batter seems good!! My only gripe is that I have a family member with a fish allergy and I've been told by staff that chips and everything else are cooked in same oil! (No second fryer) But for myself 4.6 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😁 Cheers Gastro-fry!!!

Super fresh oil and lovely crispy batter. Everything here is first class. We got 2 sharing boxes of chips and fed 3 adults and 2 large kids easily. Sausages and fish all in for £17 amazing. The packaging is eco friendly recyclable card too. Thanks for a lovely meal.

Since moving to Buxton from Stockport, we’ve been on the hunt for a great local takeaway, and after trying just about every one, this is hands down the best takeaway in Buxton. The food is always fresh, consistent, and full of flavour. We’ve never had a bad order. Their burgers are better than any burger joint they are incredible, Also the kebab wraps are next level. Or if you still prefer the standard chicken kebabs, beef kebabs, or ofcourse their iconic doner kebabs its still amazing! Better than food in Manchester! Also their pizzas are also great! The base is grand theyre toping selection is great too! Just qould love a bit more sauce and it wouod be perfect!, their popcorn chicken is amazing! Cheese and gravy chip ! So so good, milk shakes banging! I cant dault this place all i wish they did was chicken wings with no batter and saucey flavours and ill be eating there 3 times a week! Just joking! Im glad i found this place! Im hooked. We order from them almost every week because we know it will be great every time. The food quality, portion sizes, and delivery service are all top notch. Honestly, I don’t think their current Google rating reflects how good they are. They deserve way more than a 3.8! Like 5 out 5! Absolutely banging munch lad. 10/10 would recommend. Got a make it yourself pizza and a bacon chicken burger absolute scran. Pizza was absolutely on point no complaints at all. Burger was perfect. Price was really good. Cant complain but delivery came a tad early but food absolutely made up for it. Dropped it off at the hotel lobby. Beautiful stuff

Good amount of food for a good price. Fries could have done with some more salt but other than that it was all nice and hot fries were crunchy chicken had a crunch with some tenderness.

I read the reviews before ordering food here. I'm only in the lovely town of Buxton overnight. I had a large Kebab in Naan bread. Outstanding value for money, you do get a lot of food. Taste wise I'd give it a seven out of ten, I do love a Doner Kebab and am very fussy, this Kebab while tasty.....was not exceptional, however I do recommend visiting here, especially if you're shot faced.

Friendly staff and their meat feast is the best in town! Consistent quality of food over 10 years at least. Great prices and tastes fresh unlike a couple of places on the market I won't mention

Loads of good for your money and delicious too! Check if your dish comes with chips as we didn't, ordered extra portions and ended up with rather a lot of chips 😂 We had kebab, burger, pizzas and a kids share box. Couldn't fault any of them.

THIS PLACE WANTS SHUTTING DOWN!! The food is rancid. My pizza was so disgusting I only had 2 bites and couldn't stomach anymore. I took it back for my money back and the dark haired woman with the dirty cap on was less than happy about my decision for a refund.

Thanks to these guys still being open in a time when to good old Sandwich shops are being replaced by the big chains. Here you have lovely staff providing the worker, office person or traveller with just what they want, hot or cold meal, good coffee or a bacon sandwich. A must if you are about to go off on an Adventure in Buxton

I recently tried the breakfast at the Corner Cupboard, and unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark for me. The eggs, sausage, and bacon all had a rubbery texture that was quite off-putting. It's a shame because I had heard good things about the place, but based on my experience, I probably won't be going back anytime soon.
