The Buxton Brewery Tap House & Cellar is a great place to go for food and drinks. The food is excellent, and the beer selection is really good too. The staff are really welcoming and friendly, which makes it a great place to hang out.
Top place! Visited on a Friday lunchtime,no reservation was needed. A massive beer range both craft and cask, super friendly staff. The food on the lunch menu was very tasty and really good value. Perfect mix of quality food and quality beer. I would love to visit and try the full menu.

Had a great time at the Tap House while visiting Buxton. We stopped by for lunch and went with a couple of sharing plates. Food was great and the variety of beers is amazing. Decided to try the Deepdale, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Staff are also super kind and welcoming. Would definitely come back if we visit the region again.

Good selection of local beers, personal favourite was the Right to Roam. Food was good, with good gluten free and vegetarian options. Fishfinger sandwich was great. Unfortunately not everything we ordered arrived and service was very slow

We were in the Peak District for the bank holiday weekend travelling down from Newcastle. Booked for Sunday lunch as recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint! One of the best Sunday lunches we’ve ever had! All amazing! The ales are fab as well, my husband loved them and as the designated driver the fact that they had a low alco ale available was brilliant and very good! If you do decide to try this I’d recommend booking a table.
J F — Google review
Visited this place by chance and I liked it. You will find a good selection of beer and you can taste them. Place has a good atmosphere and staff is really friendly. The food was good, burger very tasty. There is no parking lot, it with some luck you may be able to park your car in front where you will find few marked areas. It is far from where I live, otherwise for sure I would be back.
Luciano F — Google review
Service is absolutely fantastic here! Massive shoutout to the staff, they couldn’t be more wonderful. Veggie, vegan and gluten free friendly, kid menu options as well. Of course, the beers are fantastic. Will definitely come back here whenever in the area. Thanks!

Really great Bar in the center of Buxton 👍 It is pretty big inside with lots of decent tables and seats, the atmosphere is very comfortable and relaxed 😎 They serve great Beer 🙂 (as you'd expect with it being a 'Tap House' 🤣) Food is also really good 👍 A really varied Menu, with really good food (especially the Onion Rings 😎) Service is good and the Staff are very friendly. Well worth a visit for a good Beer or Nz nice bite to eat 👍

Underwhelming food, below par service. Not suitable for big groups. We booked this place as a large group, and from the second we arrived we felt like we were an inconvenience to the staff. It seemed they were too busy for us. We had to pre order food, however it was a hassle making amendments to the food 8 out of 10 us got the burger and every single one of us complained about the bacon- it came out virtually raw- we asked for crispier bacon and to be fair to the waitress she did bring some back. However when I mentioned this when paying just as some constructive critism, I was told by the waitress ‘ the chefs do like to do the bacon slightly lighter than I like’ I said the bacon is raw- there’s no 2 questions about it Some ordered the beef cheek and pancetta pie- it looked very nice on the plate but lacked taste. I feel bad writing this review as it had great previous reviews hence why we booked it, however it was very underwhelming

Lubens is a top-notch bar and restaurant located in the charming town of Buxton. It's known for its cozy atmosphere, dog-friendly policy, and a wide selection of real ales. The establishment offers delicious vegan and vegetarian options, making it an ideal spot for families as well. Situated near the market place, Lubens features a lovely interior with log fires that create a warm ambiance. Visitors can expect well-presented dishes, friendly service, and an extensive choice of cocktails.
Simple presentation, no fuss, maximum taste!! Really good fresh food, gluten free chicken burger the wife had ever had, which was essential a fresh battered chicken fillet which had a crunchy batter, with a pass for kind of taste. I had the Steak burger with Pulled Birra Beef and flavour from marinade "adoba" have that perfect sharpness and herby finish. No shiny sweet brochure here, just a good bun, skin on fries and picked cabbage which was withe a balsamic picking juice or cider vinegar or both, either way was delicious. Blue Moon wheat beer with orange was a good pairing. Reasonably priced great service, staff were friendly and had a good sense of humour. To place in Buxton for Gluten free options and hot fresh food

Found this gem of a place on a Friday night looking for an early dinner: highly recommend this pub, the service was 10 out of 10… our share plate was fabulous, fresh and delicious! Beers were cold and a great variety to choose from,
Raelene R — Google review
Very nice food, freshly cooked, I had the special board burger, my wife had the mussels, both very well cooked. Service is friendly and attentive, would highly recommend if you're in the area! Can't wait to come back again.

We had an excellent lunch at Lubens. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and very helpful when deciding what to have. I went for the 70s throwback prawn cocktail and then the burger of the day which was a steak burger with all the trimmings and for dessert I had the banoffie tart with ice cream. All in all a really great meal and I highly recommend a visit.

Great place! We visited in the evening and had a lovely dinner. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Dog-friendly too :)
Julia H — Google review
So happy to have found Lubens! I’d recommend booking if you can, as we found it after a hike in the area. We managed to find a table and very glad we did. The place was lovely and lively. In fact it was busy throughout the plenty of drinkers and eaters. The atmosphere was lovely. We had a dog and it’s a fantastic dog friendly place. They have a great drinks menu. Really well priced. My friend had a gorgeous French martini and I had a pinot noir. The food selection was good. Lots to choose from depending on how hungry you are. We were hungry. 😋 My friend is gluten free and they we super helpful arranging food she could eat. She was even surprised by the lovely potatoes, which the team happily confirmed were cooked separately and gluten free. I chose the fish cakes and was glad I did. Hot, crispy and gorgeous fish, potato, cheese and herb filling. The portion size was big and we were very happy. Decided on the biscoff cheesecake too and that was a delicious end to the meal too. Best of all. Staff were fabulous. Everyone so lovely and helpful, which I think is a rarity. So well done to you all. You clearly work hard and have a great team. I’ll definitely come and make sure I book a table when I’m next in the area.

The Swan is a Pub in which regulars can relax and enjoy a good pint. It has many little rooms, all of which are comfy enough to chill in. There is also plenty of space to socialize with friends.
Visited Buxton for the new year and visited The Swan new years eve. Not disappointed at all. Great locals and bar staff we're fantastic. Thatchers went down very well with myself and my son. The band we're great and very entertaining, sorry but can't remember their name. Please add if anyone knows so they get a mention as a thank you. Next time we're in Buxton we'll definitely be calling in. Thanks to the landlord and landlady for a Fantastic evening.

came to this pub while in desperate need of refreshment and shelter while trekking in the peaks, and found an absolute gem! there's a lovely community here and i felt very welcomed. great pint of guinness too :)

Wow, what a great place. Last pub we visited on our weekend in Buxton, should've been the 1st !! Best pint(s)of ale all weekend by far, Tim Taylor's or Bass, both were perfect !! Landlady put the rugby on for us too. Great atmosphere- we only left as we had a restaurant booked, otherwise we'd have been here all night ! Next visit to Buxton, it's the Swan for us !! Many thanks !!

Very much a locals pub, but nice enough beers and seating 👍
Simon V — Google review
I visited this pub with a couple of friends for a quick drink on Saturday and the bartender informed me that it was only their second day in management and that they'd not yet organised serving hot drinks. She then offered to make me a cup of tea from the kettle in the kitchen and then saud she wouldn't charge me. It came out in mi uses and was lovely. Definitely went out of their way when they didn't have to. Lovely old fashioned vibes and very welcoming friendly staff, definitely recommend x

The Cheshire Cheese is a quaint local inn located in the traditional village of Wheelock, near the scenic Trent and Mersey Canal. It offers warm hospitality, quality food, and an extensive selection of drinks and fine ales. The pub's solid stone building exudes charm, with minimal signage adding to its unassuming appeal. Visitors can enjoy the characteristic atmosphere while savoring great customer service in this picturesque setting.
Surprisingly large Titanic brewery pub. Dog friendly and stacks of olde worlde charm. Very friendly bar staff, sadly did not have time to sample the food, though I'm definitely returning. Enjoy. M
Mirk R — Google review
Stingey overpriced portions. But quality can't be faulted neither can the service. 7 English pounds for the pudding pictured! Beer is flawless though. Titanic is the reason I came to Buxton. And they cater for pooches with water and snacks. Winner 🏆
Gerard S — Google review
I've been here many times but today's food was particularly great. This fish and chips was fantastic - I'll definitely have that again! Titanic is a cracking brewery and this is such a good pub.

Very nice old traditional pub lots of seating areas inside and a spacious beer garden at the rear , plenty of different ales at the bar , with a sample before you decide. Pleasant bar staff .

Its a really good family orientated pub ! Dog friendly ! Dog biscuits readily available !! Good human food ! Plenty of seating !

Omg..avoid the Sunday Lunch.. Gravy should have meat juices, stock, wine, herbs etc not coloured water.. Vegetables should be colourful not cooked to death..meat should at least be tasty even if you can’t get it pink.. All a bit ping and wing… The pub itself is lovely inside..shame about the food.
Charlotte W — Google review
A beautiful little pub located in the heart of a beautiful little town . The staff was great and the food was amazing. Though we didn't order any mains the sides were worth the go. The staff wore PPE and restaurant was well maintained. The food took ages to arrive, probably due to the timing we went. But for starters it was definitely a long wait. The food was worth the amount and couldn't ask for more. Would recommend this pub to anyone looking forward for a simple yet enjoyable pub experience .
Joshua A — Google review
Lovely pub in Buxton. Short walk from the market place. Driven by many times and often said 'must try it one day'. Now we have and it certainly will not be the only time. Lovely old building (fairly low ceilings in parts) with an impressive range of Titanic Brewery beers ( independent Staffordshire brewery). Food was all locally sourced and cooked to perfection. Smaller sized fish portion was perfect for this oldies lunch and the massive burger, including black pudding was devoured by my son 😋.

The town's centerpiece is the Opera House, surrounded by fine Georgian buildings like the Crescent and Devonshire Royal Hospital.
Lovely old building, with lots a great features. Went to see Amy and Carlos Reborn dance show. A really lovely show. The Opera House staff were all very friendly and helpful. The bars were not too busy and had a good selection of drinks. Toilets were clean.

We visited today as I'd booked a backstage pass for my Mum's birthday present. We go for shows often but never seen backstage before. The staff (volunteers) were excellent and very knowledgeable on everything including the history. Got to see the orchestra pit, the stage, the VIP area, the artist rooms where they get ready, and all around the seat areas. Would highly recommend.
Rachael R — Google review
Went to watch The Illegal Eagles on Friday evening…what a fantastic experience! The venue itself is an absolutely beautiful old building, a truly stunning setting for any performing artist. The staff inside, who I believe were volunteers, were wonderful. They were polite, courteous, and friendly throughout. They kindly directed me straight to the VIP lounge upstairs, which I had booked as a special treat to celebrate a birthday. The lounge, although small, was worth every penny. The host was lovely and welcoming, and the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed, a perfect place to chat with other theatre-goers who had also booked the experience. I honestly can’t wait to return to Buxton and visit the Opera House again — it’s always a real thrill. I’ve also discovered that they offer heritage tours of the Opera House, which I imagine would be absolutely fascinating.

We went to see The Vanishing Elephant. The opera house is amazing a beautiful old building well worth a visit. Old fashioned service by friendly staff. The show was really good too. Would recommend

We had a wonderful evening at the Opera House watching Frankie's Guys, a very talented group of four guys showcasing the songs of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Together with the four band members, we were kept entertained for 2 hours. All staff we encountered, from the security personnel, the bar staff and the auditorium staff, were very friendly and professional.

The Old Sun Inn is a charming 17th-century coaching inn located in the picturesque spa town of Buxton, nestled in the heart of the Peak District. The traditional pub boasts stone floors, oak paneling, and a cozy fireplace, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. With its maze-like layout featuring various rooms and nooks to enjoy a pint of cask ale, it's a popular stop-off for locals and visitors alike.
We had dinner at this lovely pub on Saturday early evening, very glad we booked as it was very busy, a good sign! We arrived a bit early so had a drink at the bar until our table was ready. Really impressed by the wine choice, and price! The food was great too, plentiful and very good. Too full to try a dessert, but they looked great too. It was very welcoming and the staff were friendly and attentive. Lots of choice for all dietary requirements.
Karen D — Google review
Came on Sunday for a roast. I got the veggie option with the beetroot wellington which was nice as it was hot, but the rest of the food was not warm. Potatoes looked nice and crispy but actually tasted old and hard on the outside. My glass with ice in it made my drink taste weird. The staff were attentive and overall it is a nice pub, but unfortunately the food let it down so I wouldn’t come here again for food.
Laura N — Google review
A truly lovely pub! The staff were very welcoming, and we were moved to the snug, where our two small dogs could roam freely while we enjoyed our Sunday roast. I had the best vegetarian Sunday roast I’ve ever had. The prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is wonderfully cosy.

What a brilliant pub! On a cold & miserable day in November, we were looking for a warm cosy pub with good beer, a good atmosphere & good food ( we weren't looking for much !). This pub bowled over all 4 of us. Probably one of the best pubs we'd been in for a while. We took full advantage of the excellent choice of beers & food, all of which were excellent. Despite looking quite small from the outside it was a but like the Tardis inside with a snug, a fire, which was always topped up with logs, at least 4 rooms for all tastes. No wonder there were people coming & going during our 2 hour stay. A big shout out for all the staff who were very proud of the place, friendly & efficient. If we get up to Buxton again we'll certainly spend some time in the Old Sun.
Paul L — Google review
We called into The Old Sun Inn with friends. Everything from the welcome, the ambience, the food and the team were absolutely without fault. The menu is huge and very varied. There’s something for everyone. The team are really welcoming and do a fantastic job. My wife is a manual wheelchair user; we found the accessibility to be really good. There’s step-free access at the back and the inside of the pub is step-free. We really enjoyed our meal and I’m well chuffed I picked the Old Sun!

The Railway at Buxton is a relaxed tavern located in the UK's highest market town, surrounded by the beautiful Peak District. The pub offers a great value carvery with options like beef, turkey, and honey roast gammon, along with a variety of fresh vegetables and potatoes. After undergoing a complete transformation and introducing a new menu, it has become known for its delicious carvery. We arrived at short notice for my partners birthday, the food and service was exceptional! By far the best "pub" food i/we've ever had. Would recommend to anyone and anything off the menu 😊
Kurt — Google review
Extremely Disappointing Dining Experience I had dinner at The Railway at Buxton on a Saturday evening around 7pm, expecting a pleasant weekend dining experience. Unfortunately, it turned out to be highly disappointing. Upon browsing the menu, I found that several items I wanted to order, including steak, beef burgers, and lamb skewers, were unavailable. In fact, nearly one-third of the menu—both starters and main courses—was not being served. There were no signs or notices at the entrance to inform customers of the unavailable items, which I found both unprofessional and misleading. It’s unacceptable for a restaurant to run out of so many items during peak hours on a weekend night, when customer expectations are naturally higher. When the food finally arrived, the quality was mediocre at best—far from the standard I anticipated. This added to my frustration, as the available options were already limited. Overall, the lack of transparency, poor preparation, and average food quality made this dining experience very disappointing. I felt compelled to share this review, along with photos of the menu and food, to warn others. I sincerely hope the restaurant addresses these issues and improves both its inventory management and overall dining experience. Until then, I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for a reliable and enjoyable meal in Buxton!!!!
Wilson C — Google review
Popped in for lunch today. The bar and restaurant were very quiet, the decor and seating area is very nice. The food however left a lot to be desired. I had the lamb kofta wrap which was very nice but a very small portion for £9.95 with no chips or salad just a smattering of dry rocket. My husband had the fish and chips. When it came we commented to each other that it looked like the sort of frozen fish you get from the supermarket, along with oven chips! When he started eating he soon discovered the chips were just cooked and the fish batter was soggy and greasy. It was also stone cold. We complained to the server and she gave us a refund on his meal, (£15.95) as it was inedible. It’s a lovely pub but I think next time we will just have drinks!
Claire R — Google review
Really wonderful place, the staff are lovely and the food is delicious. Also very dog friendly, for example, they noticed my dog and asked if he wanted water and I really forgot to think about so I was so greatful :D Bonus photo of how delicious my dog thought his sausage was :D

Excellent. The staff are brilliant and very friendly and welcoming. The menu options are excellent, vegetarian choices are impressive, including for their carvery Sunday. The food was well presented and tasty. The service was great. So nice we went back for a second visit. Exceptionally welcoming to dogs also.

Three really nice meals. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was served very well presented and tasted lovely. The only criticism was that the TV and music were very loud and there were not lots of people in the pub so it didn't need to be as loud.

Lovely pub with lots of cosy seating areas. Not a huge selection of ales but decent enough. Large menu and the food was quite good.

Where to eat on a Monday evening in Buxton with a dog that was the question? So let's give the Railway a go, really dog friendly brought a water bowl for our dog soon as we sat down. Good menu with usual food but also some really different and tasty dishes. Great food offers (2 coarse for £21 includes drink beer/wine) portions are great we had starter and main each. Spicy beef noodles and ultimate burger for main tasty and hot! If back in Buxton again will certainly be back! Beer a great price only £3.95 a pint!

Went out for the day in Buxton. A local person recommended The Vault stating how good their meals were. I had Braised Beef with mash and vegetables. Excellent tasty meal. My husband had Pie of the day with amazing chips and vegetables. Excellent. Definitely recommend. We will go again. Also the table service was excellent. A good all rounder.

Went in yesterday with my wife, we both had the pulled pork cheese burger. I am gluten free so they pointed out couldn't guarantee the chips not 100% gluten free. I was happy with that and appreciated the honesty. Got to say both meals were fantastic, also the young lady who dealt with us was brilliant. Sorry didn't get her name but partner in the place. Also have to comment great choice of music playing, I would recommend this place all day long!

Absolutely amazing, lovely rooms! Great for an overnight stay. No problems whatsoever as we had what we needed. Just be aware though, it’s just the basics , so no hair dryer or iron which we were aware of, but one resident didn’t read her email and thought her room would be fully equipped! These rooms are above the pub, but ear plugs are provided upon entering your room. Staff at The Vault Pub were lovely, but they are nothing to do with the rooms. Only a 5minute walk to the town centre (which is a big bonus). Will definitely be staying here again when we visit Buxton

Fantastic pub, great food and kind staff. We arrived close to kitchen closing time but the staff were super welcoming and had no problems with us arriving a little later than the usual dinner service. Food was excellent and portions were generous. Overall a great experience.

Very modern, clean accommodation and would highly recommend for a mid week stay. However, we stayed on Saturday night and didn't get any sleep. It does warn when booking about the bar below staying open until 3am, but it makes no mention of the boy racers on motorbikes and car's with massive exhausts, zooming past until 4am at least!

But further up into the main high street of Buxton town centre. Felt a little like it hadn't been kept on top of since opening, clean but could be cleaner. Chandeliers were nice but needed the one over, sticky table tops. It feels upcycled, which isn't a bad thing. Had a couple of cocktails which were OK. Syrups an no skills kind of cocktails but priced as if they were made properly. Not bad staff were very friendly.

Great place for a family lunch. The food was fab. My Vault Special burger was well tasty. All the staff were very friendly and made all of our family, which ranged from Great Grandma to great grand child who is 3 months old, very, very welcome.

Nestled in the heart of Buxton, RedWillow Buxton is a charming taproom that beautifully marries history with modern craft brewing. Housed in a former bank, this inviting space boasts warm wood accents and an impressive interior featuring mahogany details and cozy seating areas, including a snug reminiscent of the old bank manager's office. Since its transformation from a Royal Bank of Scotland branch in late 2017, it has become a go-to spot for locals and visitors alike.
Lovely tap from red willow brewery. Serving an extensive selection from the breweries own ale. Also does nice cocktails. It’s a beautiful building. They’ve converted an old old bank which is in the old part of town. Fitted out lovely with a gorgeous glass snug which I presume was an office. I’d be interested to know if they still have the vault in the cellar. Dog friendly. Highly recommended 🍻 🐕 🍹 🏦

Nice taproom for RedWillow Brewery situated in an old bank. Good mix of beer styles with 4 cask beers, 11 keg beers (including an AF beer) and a couple of ciders, mostly all their own beers. There were a few people drinking cocktails and wine as well when we were there. They've also got a fridge with cans from the brewery for take-away. Dog friendly.

Dropped by this former bank building in Buxton and was immediately made to feel welcome by a friendly, knowledgeable and motivated member of staff. The cask beer tasted fresh and appeared well kept. The atmosphere was busy but calm. Can recommend a visit.

What a delightful tap-pub/ bar with some great beers and wonderfully restored/ preserved historic bank interiors. Delicious Breakfast stout is smooth and subtly tasty. Friendly and helpful bar staff. A great place to get gently sozzled over an afternoon…
Gary C — Google review
Fantastic selection of craft beers and ciders, as well as some excellent quality cocktails. The highlight was a young guy called Chris working behind the bar who was really enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the beers, made some great recommendations, and made us feel really welcome - we ended up staying for most of the afternoon thanks to his recommendations!
Helena T — Google review
We came here for a couple of drinks and a pizza. The food menu is quite limited to just pizza but don't let that deter you as the pizzas are fantastic! So tasty and full of flavour with just the right amount of toppings. We went for the Margherita and definitely recommend it. Such a good price too. They have a large selection of beers which are displayed on the big screen over the bar. The staff are very knowledgeable about these beers and made some good recommendations. My partner told me she enjoyed the Picpoul white wine that she went for, so there are nice drinks for those who aren't into beer. The staff were really friendly and attentive. Highly recommend coming here!

What has happened here? It used to be great. The barman seemed to have his mates in eating Domino pizzas out of the box. They were making fun of people. What an awful atmosphere for paying customers.

Miltons Tap is a charming tap house that seamlessly blends city chic with the ambiance of a 1950s gentleman's smoking club. It offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere where old traditions meet modern comforts. The pub serves delectable pub classics and an array of popular burger selections, making it a delightful spot for lunch or dinner. Guests can also enjoy regular music and quiz nights, adding to the lively vibe of the place.
This was a brilliant pub for drinking, with a design really taking one back in time! This is done specifically by the hilarious old signs, displaying various classic phrases. The throwback adverts for drinks add a special element too, counter is nicely presented and toilets were kept clean! I had a classic pint of Inch's, sitting comfortably at a similarly clean table.

Lovely pub food. Homemade steak in ale pie with home-cooked chips. Waited quite a while for the meal, it was fairly busy, but well worth it. 4 hand pulled beers on draught, all my favourite beers, but unfortunately I was driving!!!! Beer looked spot on though.

What a fabulous pub. We visited yesterday lunchtime and were blown away by the friendly service and fantastic food. My vegetarian burger was one of the best I've ever had. We're in Derbyshire on holiday this week, we just wish we lived here, we'd be in all the time. Thank you

Friendly. Little local pub without pretense or fancy shenanigans. Good beer good people good times. Everyone we spoke to was very friendly and they had some nice pub games the night we were there. The only game I played was « find the bottom of my glass » but it was still pretty good. I think my favorite thing was the many old and original features of the pub.

Lovely meal and beers. Great service from the staff. Dog friendly which is great. Food was very tasty. Portion sizes slightly small. The chicken ranch and BBQ burger, had quite a small piece of chicken and there were only 3 halloumi fries. The quality however was really good. Overall great service and tasty food.

Top quality all round! Recently booked out the Gig / stage area for a 30th Birthday and the service I received throughout was top notch. The help I received from Holly the event manager was fantastic. Answered every question under the sun, went above and beyond to make sure my requirements were met. Tina did everything possible to make sure we had a great night and it ran smoothly, the effort shown went above 5 stars. The food produced by the kitchen team was incredible, with a huge thankyou to chef Liv who made sure we were all satisfied and the food was well received. I could not fault the service throughout the event one single bit. Only let down was the night had to end at some point 😂 Thankyou again trackside!

It’s not quite a quaint as the upstairs taproom in the main brewery, but bigger and more accommodating for summer. Inside has a TV for sports, outside has plenty of seating. I had a breakfast bagel there, for £5 it was a bargain. It also goes without saying their beers good also.

Came down from Carlisle to visit my son and he took me here for dinner. They have a big daddy burger available from Father’s Day. The made me one a day early as it doesn’t go on the menu till tomorrow. Best burger I have ever had. Tasty and wow a lot to it. Excellent value for money. And what a selection of beers they have bought some to take home. Highly recommend this place. And the staff are really helpful and friendly. And a thank you to Leah for taking time to talk to us. Awesome place will definitely be back.

Good outside atmosphere. Dog friendly. Lots of seating. Good selection of beers including take out cans. Friendly staff Food unfortunately is a big let down. Ordered two different chicken burgers, both were very cheap cuts of chicken with cheap buns used. The chips were oven oven chip quality with barely any seasoning . The whole food quality was almost fast food quality which is disappointing for £15+ for a meal. Small portions also. Shame!

The Frog on the Bine is a charming micro-pub nestled in Cavendish Circus, just a stone's throw away from the Opera House. This cozy spot offers a warm welcome and features 3 Cask and 8 Keg lines, making it an ideal destination for craft beer enthusiasts. The pub hosts regular live music, quiz nights, and other social events, creating a vibrant atmosphere for visitors.
Great new edition to Buxton's craft drinks scene, which is perfectly sandwiched between an outstanding European cafe/bar & Woodfired pizza takeaway (which you can incidentally eat on the premises 😉). Sympathetically updated to a very high standard, with an excellent curated selection of changing regional kegs and a friendly owner, clientele, and inclusive atmosphere. On my keeping list for my regular post hike or pre-gig visits to Buxton 🍻😁

Great craft beer bar in the middle of Buxton. When we visited they had 7 different keg beers covering a good range of styles, a cider and a cask beer on offer, as well as some other beers in the fridge, including a few AF beers (including a couple of beers from the excellent We Can Be Friends) to choose from. There's additional seating upstairs, so don't let it put you off if it looks busy from the street, and they're dog friendly downstairs. They don't serve food, but you can order from The Cavendish Kitchen next door, and if you tell them where you're sat they'll bring your pizza to your table.

We spent an awesome week in Buxton last week and unfortunately (for us) left the best until the last. We popped in on the final night of our stay and within 5 minutes of being inside regretted not coming in sooner. We arrived halfway through a pub quiz of clearly regulars and friends, fearing the American Werewolf in London “You made me miss” feeling that strangers in a cosy bar/pub sometimes receive. That couldn’t have been further from the truth, from patrons to the owners we felt right at home and 100% will be back way earlier in our next stay. If/when we are locals we will be part of the furniture here. Bo was the best pub dog we met on our trip too

It's also nice to have a true LGBTQ friendly place to drink when you can just be yourself.

A lovely independent bar in Buxton, serving a great choice of cask, keg and alcohol free beers and cider, as well as wine and spirits. Andrew and Cat are excellent hosts who take great pride in their business and choice of drinks. They are very dog friendly and frequented by very friendly customers. There’s always someone to have a chat with, or you can be comfortable if you want to keep yourself to yourself. Although they only sell snacks, I have given 5 stars for food, due to their arrangement with the wood fired pizza shop next door.

Nestled in the heart of Buxton, The New Inn stands proudly as one of Britain's highest village pubs, perched at an impressive 1,518 feet above sea level. This charming establishment boasts a traditional vibe with a contemporary twist, featuring rustic grit stone walls and a welcoming atmosphere. With four handpulls showcasing local brews—most notably from Storm Brewery—you'll find delightful options like Trooper and Robinsons Double Hop on tap.
This is a seriously good pub. Beautiful decor. Comfortable seating. Great range of beers and a selection of pastry dishes available, we had between us, sausage rolls, scotch eggs and pasties. Service was very good and extremely friendly. This is how pubs should be. Highly recommended.

Lately I’m finding Buxton buzzing and returning to its former glory… I spent many years as a kid here and my dear late grandfather used to consider The New Inn ‘his spot’ . After a few years closed imagine how delighted I am to see an independent offer and the glorious doors swinging open once again. Gorge refurbishment using traditional materials, colours and furniture… very cozy nooks and crannies, open fireplaces and even a ‘snug’ at the rear… The menu is made up of easy crowd pleasing items, if you’re looking for a Sunday roast this is not the place but they do have a tasty brunch menu and full marks for bringing something a little different. My deep fried cod baguette and fries was tasty and simple whilst my chum munched away on a Wagyu brunch burger in silence so I can only assume it hit the spot… Beer offer looked great and I hear well kept plus there are plenty of wine and soft drink options. Lovely job

In my opinion this is a close second to the Sun Inn as the best pub in Buxton. Excellent ale, choice of drinks & snacks, real fire, good lighting & decor, good music at the right volume & knowledgeable, friendly staff. I will be back to try the food.

I am local to Buxton (but not born and bred as you can guess from my name probably) and I can honestly say that for me The New Inn is the most genuine traditional pub in Buxton, for a couple of reasons: - Stylish and cozy interior with appropriate lighting, something I would expect from a decent pub but for some reason you won’t come across that so much anymore these days. - Open fireplace. Any local Pub should have one, if you ask me. - Varied selection of local and familiar brand beers on keg and cask. They can always serve you a beer you fancy depending on the day and moment. - Modest and well balanced choice of dishes on the menu. Better to have a few dishes and do them right than to have lots of choice and not do it so well. I like that approach. Been in today with the family and enjoyed a Sunday roast with a local cask ale. Just beautiful!

And if you find a favorite, you can grab a few cans to take away – perfect for enjoying later or bringing home as a souvenir. They had kids neon disco event, for the price is expensive, the song wasn't good for toddlers and young kids, my children couldn't relate to their song and play hid and seek with their friends instead and bored after a while and we have to leave in the end and wastes my money. Pooles Cavern is a natural limestone cave in Buxton, rejuvenated and opened to the public in 1977. Visitors can explore the two-million-year-old cave with its striking stalactites and stalagmites, including unique poached egg-colored formations attributed to mineral seepage. The Peak District's distinct landscape was formed over thousands of years as water carved out underground caverns, creating a hidden world of crystal stalactites.
Poole's Cavern is a hidden gem! This is a naturally formed cave and offers lovely views. it is worth a 30-minute visit. We visited on a weekend and it was quiet but I have learnt it gets very busy during weekends. Tip: Bring warm clothes as it can get chilly inside. Tickets can be bought online or at the store, with entry timings every 30 minutes. Parking and toilets are available on site. A great spot to explore!

Visited Poole’s Cavern yesterday and had a great experience. Our guide, Anne, was friendly, welcoming, and made the tour really engaging. She explained everything in an interesting and clear way, which made the visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!
Daisy — Google review
It's the people who work here that really makes this place. The cavern is a fascinating, geological wonder with an interesting history, but it was our tour guide, Callum that brought it all to life. He told us about the man John Poole who the cave was named after. He was a thoroughly nasty character who got a very satisfying cummupence, courtesy of the Buxton locals. Next he spoke of some of the other artifacts found including but not limited to Roman remains in a shrine to a water goddess. He spoke of the caves acquisition by a rich Victorian gentleman, and the side hustles that the impoverished children that were hired as tour guides at the time would use to extort more money out of the wealthy elite. Very industrious. It even has connections to Mary Queen of Scots, more specifically her portrait artist. The cavern also boasts 'poached egg stalacmites' that are only found in this cave system. Fascinating. This excavation is run through a charity that has already broken through into more of the cavern and hopes to soon use drones to bring footage from a cave blocked off from human eyes thousands of years ago. I would urge you to book a guide, buy the guidebook which is excellent and run amok in the giftshop which is full of crystally goodness as all this goes in towards this very important research. If you're really lucky, you might even get Callum to show you around.

We were suprised that due to my husband walking with a rollator and not being able to do stairs we were able to part of this tour for free which included a carer. Brilliant experience! It’s really well laid out and the lighting is very atmospheric. Dog friendly too, for a quid. There are guides in there too with lots of info if you’re on a self-guided tour. Can walk through it in 20-30min if you’re in a rush.
Terence S — Google review
A living relic of ancient history right beneath our feet. We'll worth an easy stroll on a well lit, well supervised and grippy, almost adhesive path. The coffee alone is worth a quick visit and the staff are a pleasant and accommodating bunch.
Rob P — Google review
Our tour guide Anne was absolutely brilliant. She answered my children’s endless questions and was so knowledgeable and interesting. She made it very fun. The cave was gorgeous and truly fascinating.

First time visiting Buxton and this was a must see. The cave itself is quite something and access is straightforward with an easy to follow linear path. The kids loved it! Guides are approachable and knowledgeable. The gifts shop has some wonderful little keepsakes and is actually very fairly priced (not often the case for gifts shops) with some wonderful things for under a tenner. Plus, it sells Buxton brewery beers! Highly recommended day out.

Pavilion Gardens in Buxton is a stunning historic venue that showcases the Victorian grandeur of the town. The gardens, dating back to 1871, cover 23 acres and feature play areas, a boating lake, and even a miniature railway on weekends and school holidays. Inside the Pavilions are two cafes, a retail arcade with locally sourced items, and The Conservatory which houses rare plants creating an indoor rainforest experience.
Lovely big gardens to walk around. We were there just before Easter so not too busy but still plenty of people making use of the large area. The gardens are well kept, clean and tidy. There is a small train, loved by children and adults, that does a circuit of the centre of the gardens.
Steve A — Google review
Beautiful gardens with free street parking if you can find it or loads of paid parking either around the town or in the gardens which can be located by the main road. Free public toilets, a small railway train that goes around the park for £2.50 per person, lasts around 5 minutes and is very cute, allowing you to see and take in the park from different angles. Theres loads of different paths, trees, wildlife and plants, some with information plaques, as well as frequent benches, bins and play parks for the kids. Extremely child, disabled and pet friendly. The streams, ponds and riverways are very well kept, as is the whole park and its lovley to see the ducks and wildlife enjoy it too.

Nice easy walk round a pond. Lots of water birds, ducks ,geese, herons. Quite a bit of duck poo on paths near pond. Nice bar, cafe, swimming pool, music venue.

Love the pavilion gardens here in Buxton. Some nice snack/eateries, locally made beers and I particularly like the "hot house" garden, and walking around the park.
Glyn ( — Google review
What a lovely and unique place. We walked around gardens for a bit, lots of wild birds, small water lakes, had live music playing, which made atmosphere really nice.

Beautiful, well maintained gardens and old heritage buildings. Would be lovely to see more of the Pavilion buildings themselves open and used though.

Sacro Lounge is a fantastic place to eat, with a good range of food that's reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the place has a great vibe. It's perfect for families or friends to have a meal together.
Clan was out and about in this area and stopped here for food. Vegetarian and vegan options were amazing so the orders began. The service was wonderful. We were seen to our table and the one child with us was given a kids menu that they could draw and colour in to keep them entertained. It was pretty busy so I expected some delays in the food yet it arrived quickly. The food was amazing. In fact it was so good I ordered more and that arrived just as promptly. The lady servicing us was so helpful and would advise on food and drinks. Desserts were lovely too and everyone left with full bellies as there was something for everyone and all due credit to the kitchen team, it came out pretty fast and was delicious. Will definitely be back here when I'm in the area again. Enjoy.

I love local restaurants in Buxton, but I love this Sacro too. Staff is amazing, food is great especially when you go with kids - meals are cheap, fresh! It would be lovely to invest and buy a few toys for kids like jigsaws or small one to play at the table. We are visiting Sacro very often and I cannot say any bad word about this place!
Jagg — Google review
Such a lovely place. Really nice inside, our server was lovely. Didn't catch a name but for having only been working there 2 weeks we was really impressed. She went over our order carefully 3 times to make sure it was all correct due to our little girl having coeliacs disease. Food was 10/10. Such a shame we dont have one in Norwich.
Naidene P — Google review
Been in Sacro a few times and always enjoyed the food. Plenty of seating spaces available, great selection of drinks, food can be ordered via QR code which is very convenient.
Barbara N — Google review
Lovely place, nice and cosy atmosphere, good food as well. I can't wait to visit again 😄

Staff are lovely, the food is nice. Nice relaxed atmosphere in there, easy to order, use the app or go to the bar. I went by myself and felt very comfortable in there.

Great food, good vibes great service what more could you ask for?
Izzy K — Google review
We visit here every time we are in the area, and it is always brilliant! Lovely setting, staff are wonderful and food is incredible! Between us we had a couple of burgers (the diablo smash burger was great), a brunch and the pasta (pictured). Good variety of drinks and although we didn't have allergies, it seemed that these would be well catered for. The menu was clearly laid out for different diets too.

The cafe is beautifully presented and would be an excellent place to visit.
Great food, with a very interesting selection of offerings. Nice feel to the place. Delicious sausages all at a good price. I had a full English
Colin — Google review
Fantastic, cosy place to eat. The cottage pie was delicious and the sausages were some of the best we’ve had. We took some carrot cake home, very tasty. Lovely, friendly people and a great place to enjoy a quick meal.
Chris L — Google review
The Best full English I've ever had! We went in on Saturday morning for something to set us up for the day and were not disappointed. The owner served us and was really friendly. I had a delicious mocha and a full English, my partner had a latte and full English, the food came out very hot and cooked to perfection. I ordered a sandwich and drink to takeaway for my dinner, yet to report on that but I'm sure it'll be as delicious as everything else. I think we've found our regular breakfast place, can't wait to go back!
Leanne B — Google review
Popped in for breakfast after a sunrise hike and had the most delicious breakfast I’ve ever had. It was all very tasty. Finished with the carrot cake - 10/10. The only downfall was the coffee - not the best but the food was amazing. Thank you Mark

Buxton Pudding Emporium, located in the heart of Buxton, has expanded to a larger space on Hardwick Street. The emporium offers a wide range of high-quality foodie treats and gifts, including their signature Buxton pudding. The cozy cafe in the lounge area serves a simple menu of sandwiches, soups, cakes, and sweet treats. Additionally, they offer bespoke hampers that can be delivered across the UK.
Came here a few times during our stay. Each time was a friendly atmosphere. Took a custard and Buxton pudding to have at our apartment and it was very tasty, heated up both. Second visit we had some ice cream which was very nice. Would highly recommend.

Buxton Pudding emporium is located in the town centre of Buxton. We ordered coffee, mince pie, bagle and pizza. The food and coffee is average while the taste of mince pie is so so. Service is good as the lady who serves us is welcoming.

The scones were warm, fresh, and absolutely delicious — easily some of the best I’ve had! The service was equally impressive: attentive, friendly, and always with a smile. A lovely experience from start to finish!
Obayed — Google review
Really welcoming and friendly staff, even my dog was greeted with a treat and fresh water from the bowl. Bought a pudding to try at home and was delighted to hear all about how it was made. Coffee was divine too and it was refreshing to be greeted so warmly when turning up 10 minutes before closing. Thank you
Jemma — Google review
Lovely local cafe with good selection of salads, sandwiches, home made soup. Best GF sandwich in the area.
Chris W — Google review
Popped in for a coffee and had to try the famous Buxton pudding too! Delicious 🤤 We got one to share, served warm with homemade custard in a little jug. Chai Latte was excellent too and accommodated oat milk. Small quirky setting with some very interesting artwork on the walls.

A lovely shop selling lots of indie brands of goods. We came to try out the puddings and they were delicious!! They also have a selection of cakes and sausage rolls. They’re also dog friendly inside the cafe area!
Elisa W — Google review
A wonderfully kept café, for snacks, sandwiches, cakes, teas, and coffees. Only small, but great atmosphere to read or write letters. Lovely staff. If you find you need a large meal, I would suggest you eat elsewhere, but save space for pudding, then come and have that here, as they really are the best puddings in town. It has a lovely gift shop too.

The pub is popular among locals and visitors alike, with sports on TV, darts, and an overall welcoming vibe. We had a great time at the 19th Hole pub! The landlady was incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel very welcome. A special thank you for the lovely treat she gave our dog – a wonderful touch!
Helen J — Google review
Lovely pub, friendly people. Suzanne and Martin are wonderful and welcoming. Also great for watching football. We visited Buxton last week and was recommended to go to 19th Hole and was pleased we did. Definitely would recommend anyone going to Buxton to visit.

This is a wonderful little pub !! It’s small but not cramped, far from it, a very neat beer garden out back which is really private and lovely to sit out on a warm summer evening with cosy lighting as the sun sets. The hosts are very warm and welcoming. Now I just can’t leave this review without commenting on the loos …the gents are clean and fresh (he says they were good), but the ladies were awesome, immaculate and well stocked for feminine hygiene needs, wonderful scented hand wash. Very good evening out .

The Nineteenth hole is an incredible little pub, truly the epitome of great British pubs, good drinks, great company and the landlords clearly absolutely love what they do! I would recommend the 19th hole to anyone visiting Buxton, it’s traditional and has the greatest little live in dog called Frankie, the owners are clearly incredibly passionate about the pub and it’s local and regular constituents. They show all motor sport games on the multiple televisions and have made a great attempt to cater to all ages of patrons! Will definitely continue to visit the nineteenth hole, not only because it’s our local pub but also because it’s a pub that feels like home and truly displays the value that pubs like this bring to the world, truly bringing people together
Pickles 3 — Google review
An older people's group meet there on a Monday afternoon. The hosts Suzanne and Martin could not be more welcoming and friendly and the refreshments are excellent. Cannot fault the pub at all!
Dianne C — Google review
If I could describe the 19th hole in one word? It would be: Homely. The surroundings to the pub are beautiful, the land lord is a legend and so charming. My family and I always come for christmas. All ages welcome. All dogs welcomed as long as they are behaved. You will always have a lovely experience when you stop off. At the Nineteenth Hole.

Bar
Seasons, a charming new bar located on The Quadrant, has finally opened its doors after a year of anticipation. Boasting an intimate atmosphere and a delightful selection of craft beer and wine, this spot is the perfect choice for pre or post-theatre drinks in Buxton's West End. Visitors praise the friendly and welcoming staff who make them feel right at home. The owners' passion for hand-picking exceptional wines shines through in their fantastic selection offered at reasonable prices.
Such a fantastic bar! We visited here both nights that we stayed in Buxton and had such a lovely time both times. The owners are so friendly and welcoming, they treated us like we'd been going there for years even though we were only visiting for a couple of nights. Their wine is fantastic. They told us how they like the hand pick the wines and only sell ones they are passionate about and certainly shines through. Incredible wines at very reasonable prices for what you're getting. Whilst they do sell other drinks, I really do recommend you try the wines and ask them for their recommendations, well worth it. The venue is cosy and had a fantastic atmosphere the times we were there. Lots of people laughing and joking with the owners which was lovely to see. Highly recommend coming here!

Excellent local bar with a good variety of craft beers & seltzers with wine and cocktail service. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, cute decor with a nice buzz. Limited selection of craft beer cans for take away. Loved it!🍻

We had the great please of stumbling across this bar on a bright Sunday afternoon. The choice of beers was very good and the barman/ owner was knowledgeable and able to recommend a really nice ale. My wife said the rose wine was so good she will be looking for it at the wine merchants. Next time we are in Buxton we will be returning to Seasons.
Tony G — Google review
Stayed in Buxton for a few nights and enjoyed Seasons so much went back to try more beers! The beer flight board was a great introduction to the impressive draft range, and the wine flight board was a great experience too. All our drinks were excellent and the service, knowledge and friendliness of the owner was a breath of fresh air. Heartily recommend!!

Fab beer, great wine, delightful owners, we couldn't ask for anything more! Can't wait to come back next time we are in Buxton.

COME FOR THE CHEESE BOARD! Hidden gem - we came here for a post dinner drink and were surprised with the most delicious cheese board we’ve been lucky enough to encounter. This place has a cracking wine & beer selection (we had an excellent cleansing Verdant ale). The staff were a huge part of the experience - very friendly (particularly to our dog). We can’t recommend this place enough - thanks so much guys!
