British restaurant
Cotton Mill Cookhouse & Pub is a relaxed and family-friendly eatery that offers a wide selection of traditional meals and international favorites. With its laid-back ambiance, this restaurant chain serves classic dishes that cater to various tastes. Whether you're craving British cuisine or exploring international flavors, Cotton Mill Cookhouse & Pub has got you covered. They have a diverse menu featuring options like haddock, shepherd's pie, poutine, and more.
A lovely clean pub restaurant with very friendly staff. I was staying in the premier in attached to the pub and had both my evening meal and breakfast in there. Upon arrival at both meal times the staff were super fast at finding me a table and on both occasions they were spotless and clean (not always the case in busy places). The menu is small but had a nice selection of items from curries, pizzas and standard burgers through to pub classics like pies as well as "fish and chips". I tried the falafel starter followed by the big stack burger in the evening. Both were very good, the burger was really well cooked and everything was served nice and quickly. In the morning I ordered a full English breakfast which was again spot on with all items really well cooked and presented well (some places throw breakfasts onto a plate but not here). The drinks area although self service at breakfast time was again lovely and clean. A nice pub restaurant which I'd happily visit again.

Excellent breakfast and service. Bit expensive for what it was, but it was tasty and well cooked and as much as you wanted ( not a buffet you are expected to ask for more) apart from the toast etc, coffee etc which is buffet. No photos of breakfast, as well it's breakfast 😁
Vince O — Google review
We were staying at the Premier Inn next door but didn't find this pub to be the usual standard of supporting role. On the first evening we'd been travelling all day and got to Kilmarnock at 9.05pm to be told that they stopped taking orders at 8.45pm. The buffet breakfast is continental, all cooked items have to be ordered from the kitchen so take a little longer if you're in a rush. The Thai Green Vegetable Curry is vegan and was nice. We purchased it with an offer, however it's usually £11.59 which would be a little expensive for what it is. Lemon and Raspberry Semifreddo is also vegan and delicious. On Thursday we arrived at 7pm to be told they wern't taking "walk-ins" (we went elsewhere). Overall it's a good size pub with parking and a nice atmosphere but we'll go somewhere else more reliable next time.
Sharon W — Google review
I don't like to give a bad review but our dinner here was not a good experience. They were busy but only at the start of the evening. Our starters took over half an hour to come. They were mixed quality. The mains were not delivered much quicker. The pizza was overcooked so the base was a biscuit. The Thai curry was ok as it goes. The desserts were the best event, with the least delay (it was quiet by then). Over 2 hours for the whole shebang. And the smoke alarm over our table needed a new battery. It peeped loudly throughout.
Michael C — Google review
Alistair was our server and he was great fun and super helpful. Sunday Roast was delicious. Do recommend doing the unlimited option for roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding. We both had the gammon. Great value. Their Sunday Roaat is popular so try and book 3pm or before as it was busy.
Ruadhri H — Google review
The most outstanding service from our main server Eilidh and manager Nicola. An unfair last minute arrival booking from us after attending a very emotional funeral. The staff were very welcoming for our big party of people (ranging in ages from 8 years old to 70+ years) and the staff accommodated all of our needs kindly. The service was unmatched- they really went above and beyond. We cannot thank them enough; from the decent prices of the food to the generous hospitality during our visit. We will be back for another lovely experience. Thank you so so much.
Sophie H — Google review
This place is so very disappointing we nipped in for lunch the other day. Possibly under staffed but no excuse the service was atrocious we were left in a corner and other people who had arrived after us served before us it took two hours for two courses the food was ok chips were stone cold complaints at the time nothing done about it not even on the bill won't be returning here sorry if offended anyone but that's the way it was for us
Ian M — Google review
Nice friendly atmosphere great for a family meal. The Staff are really friendly and welcoming I couldn't fault them for anything, an amazing Team of people who put hours of hard work in to satisfy the public. We have had the full breakfast in the morning everything was cooked perfect. In the evening we had the Sunday Roast with everything on the works and for dessert the triple chocolate brownie and chocolate chip cookie s'mors with vanilla ice cream. Everything was amazing perfectly cooked and delicious would definitely be back. 😋

The Bungalow is a takeout restaurant with a helpful staff and an appealing menu. The food is prepared quickly, depending on the order and how busy it is during peak times. It also functions as a newsagent and has limited parking available. Customers have praised the delicious roll and sausage with tattie scone, although some suggest adding butter to the roll. Despite increasing prices, the food remains great, making it worth recommending.
A handy place for all kinds of delicious foods. Staff are so friendly, helpful and cheerful. Shop has been nicely revamped. Would highly recommend, five stars not enough 😄
Bill P — Google review
£2.50 for a gammon roll, measly 1 piece of gammon that couldn't have been sliced any thinner! Blended down tattie n leek soup, not 1 bit of whole tattie or leek in whole cup, tasted watery, tbf use every sunday and salad rolls are usually exceptional, but not on this occasion, not worth the money, prices have went up but I got less? Shop was busy or I would have complained and asked for money back, will drive past next time.....
Alan F — Google review
Food was good. The atmosphere was a bit off, and they do not do stock rotation on their juices, so if you want a cold drink, get it from the back of the fridge. Prices are a bit high, but that's okay, as the food is good.
Vaping C — Google review
Stay near and use The Bungalow often, the food is delicious and the store is always spotless. The staff are friendly, there's something on the menu for everyone and the prices are very fair.

Carol S — Google review
It's usually good but last twice, the rolls have not been good, roll n sausage was tiny and over cooked (burnt) at £2.50 should be at least freshly cooked.

Food is tremendous, seems pricey for a take away but quality and portion size makes it worth the money. Staff courteous and knowledgeable, a Jem within Kilmarnock.

The staff at The Wheatsheaf Inn - JD Wetherspoon were friendly and helpful, providing a pleasant atmosphere for visitors. While waiting for their car to be serviced, customers enjoyed a breakfast without feeling rushed to leave. The pub maintained cleanliness throughout, including the toilets which had a delightful scent. Additionally, the establishment made an effort to cater to those with lactose intolerance by offering dairy alternatives for coffee.
Visited my local spoons today for lunch with a colleague. Got three small pizzas on the £14.95 small plate deal. Excellent value for money. We took advantage of the lovely weather and sat outside in the beer garden. Could have been easily mistaken for a lovely European city in summer. Great atmosphere. The staff were lovely and chatty. Even cracked a few jokes. It was quite busy on Monday lunchtime. Great to see the town busy z The food was great value for money. The pizzas are full of flavour.

Pop in when in town for a bite to eat and a few drinks. Always served quickly and food reasonably priced, meal deal including a drink is always a great option. Staff are friendly and helpful, very upbeat vibe. Close to the bus station which is handy. Great place to meet up with friends for an afternoon get together that doesn’t break the bank.

Simple. Love Witherspoons. This one has a nice local family pub vibe. Place was busy on the Friday evening I came in. Tables were in need of a wipe, and the wait staff seemed a little run off their feet, but everything was quick and easy.

Excellent choice of cask ales and good value food as well. Attractive pub with friendly staff. It dates back to at least the C18th. It's said that Robbie Burns, a fellah who couldn't spell properly, was a regular visitor. His first edition of poems was printed in Kilmarnock. Pleased that it has a no dogs policy.

Costa Coffee is a fast-service coffee chain that offers a wide range of hot beverages, chilled coolers, delicious snacks, and sandwiches. It has gained immense popularity across the nation since its inception due to its extensive selection of high-quality coffee and other delightful drinks. This cafe is widely recognized for providing everything one needs to escape from their hectic schedule. With a standardized menu that includes cakes, biscuits, paninis, sandwiches, and all the typical offerings found at a coffee shop.
Coffee was severed quickly and at the correct temperature (I had asked for extra hot). My food was hot and fresh. Staff were friendly and efficient.

I'd had a great experience in St Enochs Sq location, so this is for the Dalmarnock location. Not good. I got a coffee and a blueberry muffin. It was frozen. I asked for it to be heated, the server just looked at me in annoyance and barely heated it so inside was still frozen. Good news. Put me off their blueberry muffins for life.

Standard Costa Coffee outlet with regimented menu, cakes, biscuits, paninis and sandwiches, and of course the standard coffee shop drinks. Sits in a good location in pedestrian zone and has outdoor seating. Interior is modern and clean with fairly good views via their large windows. Drinks were palatable and refreshing, service was as you would expect.

Staff are always very friendly and deal with the queue very well. Coffee is always exactly how you ask and never have reason to complain. Has lots of tables and a small area outside to sit for sunny days. Always feels clean and never any old cups etc left lying on tables.
Sean W — Google review
This is well-situated in the centre of town and serves excellent coffee, snacks and tasty baking. All as expected from this well known brand. I've always enjoyed the quality of the products and have never been disappointed with their seasonal takes on my favourite source of caffeine! It's small, with tight aisles and not much space, but it does have indoor and outdoor seating. It's a ground-floor establishment with an accessible toilet downstairs but a hike upstairs for the others. The service is good, the staff friendly and efficient, and the cooler is always well stocked and impeccably clean. This is my go-to when shopping in Kilmarnock. My only caution would be the space issue for anyone with mobility issues. My advice would be - get takeout, and if the weather is decent, there are lots of great spots nearby to get a seat.

McDonald's is a well-known fast-food chain that offers a wide range of burgers and fries. Located two miles southeast of Kilmarnock center, it features a spacious interior and fast service, including a drive-through option. However, the parking can be tight and the drive-through is often busy due to its location. While some customers find the touch screens overly complicated, others appreciate the helpful and friendly staff like Irene who contribute to creating a pleasant atmosphere.
Never have a problem with Just Eat at other establishments, but this place Always get the order wrong. Doesn’t help when driver drives away before order is checked. This has happened on numerous occasions.what was ordered to what was delivered.
Lorry D — Google review
This place is pretty decent when you go to the restaurant to eat it. I would STRONGLY suggest to NEVER get an Uber Eats/McDelivery from here though, as there is a chance the order will not only be wrong, but it will take FOREVER to arrive. I ordered our meals and they took nearly 80 MINUTES to arrive. I get it can be busy, but give people the chance to cancel if it's not even been started. The system is not fit for purpose and I will NEVER order a McDelivery again Bloody shambles.
Billy W — Google review
Worst McDonald's I've ever been too bellfield interchange avoid at all costs! Staff are useless I'm sorry we've ordered from there in the past over 6 times and Everytime has been wrong ...who makes burgers and doesn't give you the burger? Once Again ordering a delivery from McDonalds where the Printed receipt in Black and White isn't checked and you get completely Wrong order or missing items How hard is it to READ THE ITEMS ON THE RECEIPT AND CHECK THEM. Lazy incompetent, inattentive staff, total lack of service Sept 2025 • COUPLES We went in at 8.15am on Sept 23, there were 2 other couples and during our stay less than 12 takeaway customers. So they weren't busy. In the past the staff have always been welcoming, friendly and helpful, just like the adjacent Travelodge. Being oldies from a remote area we find the ordering machines a challenge, staff were always ready to meet greet and help on previous visits. Not this time. We managed to order a table service breakfast of bacon roll, bacon flatbread and 2 coffees. After 10 minutes waiting we found our food, cold, dumped on the takeaway counter. Then the lackadaisical, idle teenager(?) behind the counter, who couldn't be bothered to wonder why our food had been lying there refused to serve a glass of tapwater. 'You'll have to buy a bottle and we've only got coke etc'. There's no point in spending money on makeovers if the staff won't provide basic levels of service. The bacon roll and coffee would have been good value if the staff had served them hot as they were supposed to, but obviously didn't read the order properly or couldn't be bothered to bring it to our table despite the place being nearly empty
Pat M — Google review
Avoid! This McDs consistently gives very little french fries (half full or less) and there have been times the fries are burnt or over salted. Service is appalling, once waited 15min just for fries (and this was inside when not that crowded), staff just having a good old chin wag amongst themselves. I really don't like giving bad reviews but have given this McDs location a few chances, it's just rubbish. The one in the town centre is fine so unclear why this one is just so horrid.
Sara J — Google review
NEVER GET DELIVERY. 5+ times i got delivery and every time something was wrong/missing: -missing sauces, -missings drink, -recieving salad instead of a burger, -being lactose intolerant they somehow cannot understand no cheese. It's clear the workers don't really care about deliveries. Can't comment on service instore.
Andreia — Google review
Unfortunately I must have picked a bad time to visit. App wouldn't work and our order was cancelled twice. The food was not hot but warm. Almost 35 minutes from order to food ready. Not the best review, as we normally never have an issue.

Cafeteria
Morrisons Cafe offers an appealing selection of food at budget-friendly prices, making it a popular choice for breakfast enthusiasts. However, some guests have expressed disappointment over the inability to customize their meals without incurring extra charges. For instance, adding an additional potato scone comes with a fee that seems excessive when compared to purchasing a pack separately.
Great price for food although disappointed that you can't take the things you don't like of your breakfast and change it for free. £1 to add an extra potato scone ridiculous when you can but a pack for 90p. As for the the sauce ask for 3 each as one little sash only covers 1 sausage the girl pointed out your only allowed 1 but I will give you two.. oh please don't go above and beyond for your customers. There's a cost of living crisis right now and disgusting how you can't just put bottles of sauce out instead this staff member is winging about sauce. Get it sorted morrisons!!

Didn't have the Scottish pie so I choose the chicken tikka with fries. Clearly cooked in the microwave, no taste, dried chicken and fries were cold ,hard and certainly not fresh All for £12....certainly not value for money.

My husband and I had an all day breakfast and my son had a child’s meal. We got there at about 3pm and the meals came out so fast. However it looked like and tasted like it had been made in the morning and reheated. Everything overcooked and greasy. The bacon was hard and even the toast was hard to cut! These Morrisons cafe have really gone down hill. We won’t be eating there again. Don’t go! I couldn’t even get a mocha with oat milk!

Asked for the ultimate breakfast, but didn't have the items required, however I was given 2 slice of black pudding instead of haggis the bacon was so dry, possibly from yesterday and reheated, the black pudding was also dry, rather poor, service was extremely quick to serve the food.will not be back.

Had a nasty dose of food poisoning from Morrisons cafe in Kilmarnock when I visited on my break. Opted for an eight item breakfast which as per the norm turned up cold, including fried and scrambled eggs. Lost a day off to this which was largely spent on the toilet. Email was sent to notify them and polite reply was received so hopefully standards will improve. I am physically fit yet this floored me for more than 24hrs so imagine how ill someone with underlying health issues could’ve become. Appreciated the polite reply from customer services but at least refunding the cost of said breakfast would’ve helped show some genuine customer care. Won’t be visiting again.

Wouldn’t ever come back here! Terrible service. Purchased a TooGoodToGo bag and got 3 sandwiches…be wise and go somewhere else
Jodie — Google review
Always a long wait, even if only one person in front of you. If no-one in front of you, you may need to call into kitchen to be served. Food never that warm. Always items unavailable … in a supermarket!!! Server takes one order then moves to another counter to prepare drinks, even if a queue waiting to be served. Tea and coffee self service machines would make a massive difference … to start with.

The sausage was like rubber, they had run out of poached eggs, only fried or scrambled. Service was not good as not enough staff.

If you're on the lookout for a delightful dining experience without breaking the bank, Tesco Cafe is an excellent option. This charming spot offers a variety of delicious and affordable meals, including vegetarian choices and hearty cooked breakfasts to kickstart your day. Don't miss out on their tempting cakes paired with a good cup of coffee. The atmosphere is made even more enjoyable by the friendly and efficient staff who ensure that tables are kept clean and inviting.
Good choice of tasty afordable food (vegetarian options available, including cooked breakfast 😉). Nice cakes, good coffee. Most importantly very pleasant and efficient staff. Clean tables. 👍🏻👍🏻

Ordered a breakfast, chicken burger and a kids meal. This somehow took an hour to arrive, first the breakfast arrives then 15 minutes later the burger. Place wasnt busy at all. Plenty people came after us and were served before us. Dreadful uncooked bacon. Absolutely horrible disgusting overpriced food. Twice ive been done by tesco cafe with the same service and wont be back.

I regularly go to the Tesco cafe a few times a week. The food even when busy is served in a timely manner, I’ve never wasted longer than 20/30 minutes, which I’m absolutely fine with. Price is OK and not to be grumbled at. Food is good and tasty. Service is lacklustre sometimes, it depends on who serves you. There’s a lady with blonde/brown hair I’ve seen regularly and she’s always smiling and chatty. Other servers are often mute and look like they’re dying a slow death. It’s quite cold to be honest, like sit with a jacket on cool. That’s my only qualm, needs to be cosier, warmer with a warmer atmosphere and warmer friendlier staff. As above, some staff are and if I knew her name I’d applaud her directly. Overall 3.5 but half stars aren’t a thing.

Ordered ham and cheese toasties. I was told we would need to wait 20 mins. I asked if I could have our hot drinks served at the same time. The girl on the till asked us to come back up when the food arrived, as she would probably forget. We finally got our toasties and went up to get the hot drinks. By this time there was a long queue with one girl serving. She continued to serve the queue and we waited a further 20 mins before we finally got our drinks. We then discovered that only one side of the toasties had been toasted. It was very difficult to find a seat as most of the tables had not been cleared. Why Tesco in Kilmarnock don't put a trolley to allow customers to take their trays back like other their stores is beyond me It needs more staff on at busy times such as weekends and more training for those preparing meals. I agree with previous reviews, the staff don't seem to care less.
Debbie M — Google review
Generally appalled at this place to call its self a cafe. Firstly the staff have to be the most inept people when it comes to ordering food and drink, to be handed a table number for hot food to be ignored is something that seriously needs to be addressed, (not the first time this happened), had to chase up hot food, only to be handed a cold, undercooked bacon roll still oinking. To add insult to injury the waitress/server allowed the person sitting next to us to finger the food that she did not order, absolutely disgusting and for the person cooking, he/she needs to return to training or at least read the manual of the cooking appliance on how to cook items to make them edible and also be of a temperature that passes HSA food safety regulations.
Ainsley C — Google review
Pink lemonade slush was tastless and mainly crushed ice. Not a slush. The food was terrible. Macaroni was tasteless and stodgy. Had to go get our own drinks too even tho we were sat down. Food was wasted which I hate doing but couldn't eat it.
Ryan M — Google review
The cafe sits on the first floor of the store but after climbing the stairs I'm afraid it was all down hill from there. I wanted the haddock and chips but was informed by the grumpy woman at the counter that they'd used up the daily quota of swimmers. Apparently the cafe is allocated only five fish per day (that's three more than Jesus had and he managed to spread them around fairly well). Macaroni? None. So I settled for a small plate of bland chicken strips. Just as I was about to get stuck into these delights a guy appeared with a large and dirty motorised floor-cleaning machine and parked it right at my table - with the engine still running - while he wandered off to god knows where. I assume he worked in Tesco and wasn't just some random fellow who'd popped in from the street. Next, a female cleaner arrived and began brushing/mopping around my feet while I was gnawing my way through the chicken strips. I could go on but I won't as I'm even boring myself with this sorry tale. Needless to say, from now on I'll be dining at Morrisons, which if nothing else, provides a much better standard of let down.

As a visitor to this cafe in Kilmarnock I was very disappointed, I ordered a focaccia for lunch. We waited about 20 mins for it to be delivered when it did come it was so hard I failed to get the knife through it. Took it back to the counter and said that no way can I get my teeth through that . To add insult to that I was told that's how they came in. No I replied that it had been in a microwave for too long. I've been a catering manager with Sodexo for many years so I know that it did not come in like that. I asked for a sandwich even that was not cut in two . Just two slices of bread with filling ,did get a millionaire shortbread as compensation. Can I suggest you go to Tesco in Ayr they will show you how it's done. Always well presented no long wait to get it and most enjoyable

Sunnyside Kilmarnock is a delightful hidden gem that has truly flourished since its last visit. This charming café offers an array of homemade baked goods alongside a tempting breakfast and lunch menu. The garden center boasts an impressive selection of quality plants, perfect for any gardening enthusiast, all at reasonable prices. Visitors can enjoy the company of friendly goats and pigs, with some smaller ones eager for attention, while a small horse adds to the farm-like atmosphere.
Absolutely fabulous craft day for kids at Sunnyside Cottage today. Kids had great fun and amazing food and coffee for the adults.

This place has gone from strength to strength since I last visited. Small cafe with home baking,a breakfast & lunch menu...lots of good quality plants for bedding, rockery, hanging baskets,borders..all at v good prices. They have goats which are mega friendly,a huge pig & some smaller ones which come to be petted. Saw a small horse .There is an enclosed area for hand washing. There is a ramp leading to toilet but no one would be able to access it as it's lined with plants - no room( you would need to speak about this to the owner)..

Well I really wouldn't call it a garden centre the place as just a handful of plants and few baskets and pots. The garden centre is run down neglected and even abandoned in places loads of dis used old polytunnels full of weeds cafe is good and that is one reason it got a 1 star

Popped in for breakfast on the go. I was so pleasantly welcomed, the man who served and was taking orders was a credit to this place. I ordered a roll & a coffee & both were absolutely lovely. The roll was filled to the brim & the coffee was really nice. Customer service in this place is brilliant, the manners, the patience & the fact he knew all customers who came in by name just shows he genuinely cares about this business. The price was also great and I would recommend 100%. A smile & happy service really does make a difference to someone’s day, thank you!

Thank you Caytlin (Waitress) for your beautiful smile and attention to me and my Son who has special needs on our visit. You treated us like we were the only customers in the shop. You were the same with everyone, your very special x. The food was Michellin quality I was surprised how well presented and tasty the food was, the garlic bread was heavenly. Overall the best Cafe I've ever experienced, thank you so much and again thanks to Caytlin (apologies if spelling is wrong) for your outstanding, friendly customer service.

If you're in Kilmarnock and looking for a convenient shopping experience, the Marks & Spencer store is a delightful option. While it may not be the largest or most extravagant location, it offers a fantastic alternative to those sprawling mega stores. The food hall is particularly impressive, boasting well-stocked shelves filled with an extensive range of products that make grocery shopping a breeze. Plus, the friendly staff are always ready to assist you with a smile!
Big food hall that sells everything. Friendly and polite staff. Good parking.

Terrible for a bra fitting service! Have been a couple of time the first time the woman measured so wrong. The second time as aways give different chances well.... I would have to order online a good few take them into this shop see what fits then send the rest back and wait for a refund. Honestly they should take the bra fitting service off this branch.
Shirene L — Google review
This Marks & Spencer shop is trying, …. It’s not the biggest, it’s not the best but it saves you going into the larger mega stores. Plus … Marks & Spencer does have an extensive website where you can either get your ( stuff ) delivered to your home or to the store. However, that’s the clothing side of ‘Marks’ … the food side is brilliant ! Well stocked shelves and a wide range of products makes for easy shopping. Yes… it could do with a freshen up, but on the plus side …. Kilmarnock still has a store !!
