Nestled next to a Premier Inn hotel in Gillingham, Kent, the Honourable Pilot Cookhouse + Pub is a delightful spot for families and friends alike. This modern eatery offers a fantastic selection of classic pub fare alongside tempting buffet options that cater to all tastes. With its welcoming atmosphere and family-friendly vibe, it has quickly become a favorite dining destination for many locals and visitors.
Friendly and helpful staff. Kim was our server and she did a great job. Decent food - although they don’t serve some items at certain times which is easily missed when looking at the menu. Ate here because we were staying at the Premiere Inn - told we had to book but the place was very quiet which was odd.

What a smashing bar/restaurant I was visiting the area on business and was staying at the premier inn hotel next door. The evening meal was delicious the menu is simple and could do with an update with healthier swap options and more pasta or more filling options for jacket potatoes. The breakfast was by far one of the best.
Mozza B — Google review
Great service on two nights food was hot and cooked well. Missed an egg of my mixed grill 😆 but to be fair I didn't need it. Staff are super friendly and cheerful and coped exceptionally well when busy on both nights.
Adam B — Google review
This is the second time I have walked out from this place without because the service is awful and will be last visit!! I went to the Star just 5 minutes up the road and what a brilliant contrast, I would recommend anyone does the same. When I walked in I was completely ignored and stood and waited for over 5 minutes to know I existed despite 2 young ladies more interested in their private chat behind the bar. Then when finally taken in, the table and surroundings were grubby and dirty and absolutely no customer service, literally just sat down and gone again with no one even coming back to ask for drinks, so eventually we just walked out, again not a word was spoken to us. Best advice I can give is go to the Star, only 5 minutes up the road, the team there are so much more personals-able, interested in you and the place is managed a million times better that this place.
Mike G — Google review
The quality of the food was very poor. All meals came out and had to be sent back to the kitchen and the pizza looked like a cheap frozen pizza from Iceland. The service however was very good, can't fault our waitress.
Storm W — Google review
My family and I went for the Sunday carvery and I must say it was the worst I have ever had. We have had breakfast on a few occasions and it's been ok so we thought we would try the carvery but what a mistake. The beef still had a heart beat and the veg was still raw. The gravy was like water the only thing on my plate that was any good was the Yorkshire pudding. Won't be going back.
Jon Y — Google review
Moody waiter, filthy venue, rancid fizzy food and very slow service (took half an hour for drinks). Dried dessicated orange in the diet coke which looked concerning.
John P — Google review
I took my family for a Sunday Roast, although the food was reasonably good, service was rather laxxed, we asked for additional condiments after our food was brought to our table and after waiting for over 10mins, I had to leave our table and enquire at the bar instead, which took another several minutes as the staff were all on smoking or vaping break, where I could hear them laughing and chatting outside whilst other customers were waiting to be served. I think it is important to understand that customers should come first especially if catering and that these young members of staff should have better training. I can only blame management and hope things improve in the future

The Old Ash Tree is a charming pub with a clean and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are attentive and friendly, providing excellent service from the moment you arrive. The menu offers a variety of delicious options, including katsu chicken and rump steak that are cooked to perfection. Guests also appreciate the accommodating nature of the staff, who go above and beyond to ensure everyone has an enjoyable dining experience.
Such a warm homely feeling in this Pub. A Very comforting and relaxing atmosphere. The building is beautiful from the outside and inside the seating and furnishings are to a high standard. Food is on par and on a level you’d expect for the price. A lovely Pub and definitely recommended.

We visited on a Saturday night when there was a Madness tribute band playing. We ordered food a burger and the pie. Both of which were very nice and served hot. The service was slow mainly because they were so understaffed for the amount of customers, probably due to the live band. Overall we enjoyed our evening and would return.
Twotone S — Google review
This was a nice pub where we stopped for lunch on a Sunday. However we were the only people in the pub at the time we had lunch. The food was good, served hot and tasted nice. It was reasonably priced too. The atmosphere was lacking as there were no other customers but the overall experience was pleasant. One point to note is you do have to pay for parking but you get this refunded when you order at the bar.

I was surprised that this pub got even seniors meniu,so glad for that. The food was amazing, with excellent service, a relaxed atmosphere. Barman D. very polite with a big smile, which helped me to take my drinks to the table and looked after us. I would recommend that place for seniors and families lunch and for a drinks. Also it isn't expensive for what you can get. Honestly, I can't finish my food, very big portions and excellent presentation.

Stacey was amazing been here twice this week as kids having such a busy schedule and both times excellent service good environment and lovely food. The Katsu curry is so good all the kids meals were fantastic. Thanks to the chef G we have had a lovely dinner.

Hailey has been amazing, on her own with a packed bar, the service was professional friendly and attentive. Joan had the food out in a time less than expected it was hot, tasty and hit the spot. This is our local and sometimes it’s hit or miss, today Hailey and Joan made the difference. Exceptional team work that begs more visits.

Fantastic service from Stacey! Stacey is hands down one of the best bar staff I’ve come across. Super friendly, fast, and always makes you feel like a regular, even if it’s your first time in. She keeps the vibe fun and relaxed, knows her way around the drinks, and somehow manages to stay calm and upbeat no matter how busy it gets. It’s clear she really cares about her customers – a real asset to the team. Always a pleasure being served by her!

Restaurant
Pier Five Bar & Kitchen is a modern bar and restaurant that offers local draughts, elevated pub fare, and a riverside terrace. The Pumproom at Copper Rivet Distillery provides waterfront dining with a picturesque view of Upnor Castle. It offers contemporary takes on classic dishes influenced by flavors from around the world. Despite some food shortages due to Brexit, the service was impressive and the food was delivered quickly. The place also offers unique options like breadless burgers.
We had a brilliant time here. The food was excellent, we enjoyed access to shuffleboard, and the staff were incredible! I have a very awkward allergy, and the staff did everything in their power to accomodation me, including altering recipes to a level I haven't experienced in other restaurants. I really appreciate everything that the team did to support and help me, especially Erin and Mikey, who were incredible. The food was brilliant, and we had an amazing time. It can be very difficult for me to eat out due to my allergies, and I fully expected to not be able to eat, but they really pulled all the stops out. Strongly recommend!

Went there yesterday for a work Christmas do, the food was disgusting. I wasn’t expecting fine dining but food I could at least eat. I had chosen from the festive menu, when I told the waiter the food wasn’t good not much of a response really so quite disappointing. I had a bad stomach once I got home. My friend had a hair in her starter and a bug in her drink, got those both changed. We will definitely not be rushing back that’s for sure.
Ellis M — Google review
Visited this pub the last 2 Monday evenings to take part in their quiz. Which, I have to say is one of the best I've ever done... A little long... But very, very good! Last time I decided to eat there too and was not disappointed. I opted for the Smokehouse Beef burger which comes with regular fries. I was really happy with the food, very nicely cooked and delicious. The patty was a steak patty and the pickle ratio was extremely good! The fries were really good too, for me this can quite often be a point of failure for some places so I was really happy with them . I also tried their loaded fries as my friend couldn't manage a whole large portion... Extremely satisfying. I would visit again for the burger alone!
Richard B — Google review
Variable service, main was quick but kids desert was so slow we left after 20 minutes before it was delivered. Food that did come was good, tasty and hot. Shame portions were small for the price. “Large Loaded fries” wasn’t large. One of the burgers comes without chips for no apparent reason. It is in the menu if you notice but we didn’t. I really don’t like being asked for a tip BEFORE I’ve been served so I’d rate the payment system as flawed too. Pizza was lovely. Prices gone up a lot. £15.50 for a burger on its own is excessive.
Sam R — Google review
Delicious food with quick and efficient service! The loaded fries were superb. Returned today, had the loaded fries, cajun onion rings & chicken wings. The food was even better than I remembered and that takes some doing! The ordering system is very quick and efficient, scan the QR code, enter you table number and order away. Pay when you place your order so you don't have to wait for the bill. Service was very quick (it was quiet at the time).

I've been going here for about 4 years and food is always consistent, great range of drinks..good for whiskey and beer lovers, nice selection of good local beers and small rang of cocktails. Menu is not big but what they do they do well!! You must try there burgers..to die for, you will not be disappointed I guarantee. Staff are great here, nothing is too much trouble 🙂

I visited with girlfriends. It was It was lovely atmosphere to reconnect! Unfortunately one of us didn't get what we wanted and the rest of us had to adjust our orders due to food shortages (thanks a lot Brexit!!!). I found the service absolutely amazing though, and the food, once ordered and paid for was delivered VERY QUICKLY. I was impressed I could order a breadless burger!!!! Yes thank you so very much 😍😍!!! I've already said I'd go again with other girlfriends or a group. Amazing place!

Pier 5 is a truly great spot for a relaxed evening out. Located right by the river in Chatham Maritime, it boasts a fantastic feel-good atmosphere. The extensive drinks menu is a real highlight, offering everything from proper real ales and a great selection of lagers to a wide variety of whiskeys, gins, and much more. Whether you're after a classic pint or something a little stronger, they've got you covered. My recent evening there was fantastic. Enjoying a good drink and some delicious food while watching the river flow by was a real treat. The view across the River Medway is a definite plus. One thing that really stood out was how comfortable the outdoor seating area is, even when the evening gets cooler. They've thoughtfully provided plenty of heaters, making it a warm and inviting space to relax late into the night. When it comes to food, you absolutely have to try their loaded fries. The "mucky" options are particularly amazing – I highly recommend the Mucky Swine loaded fries with spiced fries, crispy streaky bacon, cheddar and mozzarella cheese, house burger sauce, and BBQ sauce. They also do a Messy Cow version with beef chilli and jalapeños which sounds equally tempting! The portions here are generous, especially the chicken wings. You can get a 0.25 kilo portion or go all out with a 0.5 kilo or a 1 kilo shareable (or not!) amount. They're tossed in a secret recipe house blend seasoning, and you can choose your preferred sauces If you're looking for a relaxed and enjoyable evening in Chatham with great food, a huge drinks selection, and a lovely riverside setting, Pier 5 is definitely worth a visit. The added bonus of ample outdoor heaters makes it a comfortable choice even on cooler nights. Just make sure you try those incredible loaded fries and the generous chicken wings!

Bodega 51 in Rochester is a delightful spot that caters to both coffee lovers and nightlife enthusiasts. Whether you're stopping by for a quick caffeine fix or looking to unwind with friends over drinks, this bar has something for everyone. The friendly staff create a welcoming atmosphere, making it easy to relax and enjoy the vibrant vibe. Wow. What a bar!!! Just popped in over the weekend for a drink and had a great time. The coffee is great, with an amazing selection of cakes and snacks. Shout out to Tilly, Holly and Josh, some of the best bartenders in the country.

We stopped in for a quick drink on part of our Rochester bar crawl. I really enjoyed the vibe, and there was a really interesting selection of different beers, and drinks, many of which I had not tried before. The outdoor area was really nice, particularly as the weather was nice. Definitely worth a visit if you want to try something a bit different

This little gem in Rochester is a great little place if you just want a coffee and cake or you want a night out with live music. They have loads of great DJ’s playing as well as lots of new things on the go. I love the choice of drinks and the fact I can use a QR code to see all of the choices they have! Staff are really friendly and helpful. The garden is a great place to go for daytime cocktails too with their garden bar, they serve some snacks and hot food but I was told they are going to start having platters and other food soon! My daughter recently hired the room upstairs and this was perfect, not too big and with a bar. Cannot recommend enough, the fact that you’re helping to raise money for charity with all of the cans you purchase is a bonus. Worth popping in just to experience their uniqueness.

Came in with a few work friends, so busy we were going to leave but after talking to to jodie the barmaid- who was fantastic and very welcoming, we decided to stay for a good few. We will definitely be back for cocktails (jodie recommended so many we didnt yet try but will be back for)

Been here a few times recently and it’s always been a good night out, DJs always smash it and the so do the bar staff - Jodie and Grace have been amazing and everyone does a fantastic job of keeping the place fun 👍🏻 Haven’t tried the food yet but if they let me drink it I will 🤣

The Command House is a delightful establishment with a charming appearance following its recent renovation. The nachos served here are exceptional, receiving top marks from patrons. Additionally, the pork belly burger is unparalleled in taste and quality, making it the best burger ever tasted by many. For dessert, the Eton Mess sundae proves to be a delectable choice. The overall dining experience at The Command House is thoroughly enjoyable, with a pleasant ambiance that adds to the satisfaction of patrons.
Great place! Very helpful staff, and the downstairs bar was open Saturday. Wow! What a lovely room! This is only open for private hire or events like on Saturday, live music. There are toilet facilities too, so you don't have to go upstairs. We sat indoors when the rain started and still enjoyed the music.

Beautiful architecture, wirh a nice river view. The staff is friendly, they have a nice terrace outside. Unfortunately we have been there in a day where they didn't have many clients, but the place is lovely, I recommend it for drinks and view as I didn't try the food. One disadvantage is that you have to pay the parking or at least we paid, ask if there are options to avoid paying it.
C. M — Google review
Unfortunately this review is mostly based on price. I would expect to pay £7 when in London and for more interesting and original choices of beer/ipas but not when it comes to run down Chatham. I appreciate neck oil is a more premium beer but I believe it’s been sold of to a big brewery like Heineken or something and really isn’t as nice as it used to be. Tastes rather watery and very lacking in flavour. For £7 it just isn’t worth it. The other range of beer/lagers etc wasn’t exciting. Only one of 4 ale available and was just London pride. Cruzcampo was the only other “premium” on draught and it’s never appealed to me. And certainly don’t want cheap fosters. (Although I appreciate that there’s cheaper options) Service was fine. Nothing stood out but I was at the bar for 2 seconds so I’d imagine here is pretty good. Venue is lovely. A little rough around the edges but generally well kept. I remember there being bands and gigs here years ago and I haven’t seen much sign of that in recent years. Worn down stage that looks unused. To be fair it’s a Tuesday so perhaps there’s more on at the weekend. Saw some people eating food which did look nice but I felt like I was stung with the price of the beer and didn’t want to get further stung by the food prices.

Had a great meal here – the food was fresh, tasty, and came out quickly. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the staff made sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere is relaxed and cosy, with a perfect view of the river – especially nice at sunset. Definitely a spot I’d recommend for anyone looking for good food and a nice place to unwind by the water

Really depends when you go. Midweek, it's a lovely place, good drinks, great location, interesting building, lovely view over the river, decent food, nice staff. But we had to leave before ordering food on Sunday, because the DJ outside was playing music at a level that made conversation really difficult. Not sure who the music was even for, as it's not like you can have a boogie in the garden anyway, over a Sunday roast.
Mary H — Google review
Visited The Command House on Thursday evening and had 2 rump steak meals. Both steaks were perfectly cooked with absolutely no fat on them which was perfect, good sized portions and good value for money in my opinion. Ashley served us and he was brilliant thanks Ashley 👍🏻

What a beautiful pub. This is a great find away from the town, just opposite Fort Amherst and overlooking the river Medway. This pub was renovated just over a year ago and still looks as good now as it did at the re-opening. Food is very good and the drinks selection is really impressive. The staff are really helpful and friendly. Most impressive of all is how much they love dogs. They even have a full dog menu of treats and bowl food for them.

Modern European restaurant
Bar
Oliver's Bar & Restaurant is a stylish venue located in the heart of Rochester, offering a sophisticated atmosphere for an enjoyable evening out. The restaurant serves modern European cuisine with plenty of options, including vegetarian dishes. The bar features a dance area and offers expertly crafted cocktails, making it an ideal spot for a Friday night outing. Additionally, the establishment is known for its lively evenings and delicious food, making it perfect for celebrations and get-togethers.
We went to Olivers on a Thursday evening to try their menu even better that it was 50% off food. The evening was lovely from booking to leaving. The staff were all very helpful, polite and attentive. Nice relaxed atmosphere. I chose the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection, my husband had Beef Bourguignon again very nice. We finished with the apple crumble (no picture whoops). We weren't rushed at all.

Went for anniversary dinner with my wife. We arrived ten minutes late due to the terrible weather on the night and we apologized for being late. We were seated at our table and then promptly abandoned for 15 minutes without even a glass of water. I got fed up and stood up to try and find someone. Had to stand around in the bar area like a lemon for a couple of minutes until someone spoke to me at which point I complained about the 15 minute wait and asked for someone to serve us. The waitress followed me and promptly scolded me for having the nerve to talk to her like that (look: I can be very direct and I was annoyed but I was not insulting or aggressive, I just have certain basic expectations in restaurants… this wasn’t KFC after all). Waitress responded by telling us off for being late, insisting it hadn’t been 15 minutes (untrue - I had checked my watch so was certain of this), that they were really busy (the restaurant was 50% full the entire time we were there) and that she had “never been spoken to like that before”. Sorry but you must have the thinnest skin in the hospitality sector in that case. We apologised for being 10 mins late and their response for taking 15 minutes to serve us - which would probably have been even longer if I hadn’t got up! - was to gaslight me. Not a good start. Anyway, I backed off as didn’t want to ruin the night further and the waitress looked frankly in shock that I had had the audacity to complain, and to their credit the service from that point on was much better. Some rough edges still: we ordered a nice bottle of Bordeaux and not only did the waitress not open it in front of us (a basic rule in restaurants) but also just poured straight out without letting us taste it. Thankfully it was a good bottle - at £55 it should have been, and it was tasty - but that felt like a lack of basic restaurant training. We ordered a caprese salad to share and I ordered the prawn and chorizo linguine while my wife ordered steak. The caprese salad was a disgrace - sorry, no other word for it. It was a sloppy mess of chopped up tomatoes and chunks of mozzarella in a soggy bowl all thrown together. That is not a caprese salad. It tasted alright but looked horrendous so I struggled to eat it. I’ve attached a photo. Thankfully the main courses were quite good. My linguine was very tasty and my wife’s steak was good quality and cooked as requested. No real complaints about the quality and flavours. It’s not gourmet or anything - in fact I would class it as pub food really - but to be honest I’m still not 100% sure if it was worth the money for the quality. Which probably means it wasn’t. Especially considering the caprese car crash. As already mentioned, they redeemed themselves somewhat with the service and gave us a couple of complimentary glasses of house champagne for our anniversary which was a very nice touch. They even took the service charge off the bill which wasn’t necessary or requested by us but was appreciated and I have to give credit for them taking accountability. But it really shouldn’t have to come to that; you simply can’t be that fragile when working in a restaurant, especially when you’ve left a customer waiting for 15 minutes after seating them. Basic stuff if you want to be seen as a somewhat higher quality eatery for the area, although I’m not sure if it’s positioning itself as a restaurant or a bar to be honest. Maybe that’s the problem. Bit of an identity crisis. Overall a disappointing experience after hearing good things about the place. Food is decent but not amazing and the staff needed more training. Decor was alright if a bit “bordello”. I would recommend Fish at 55 or Brettingtons before this place though, to be honest. Oh - final point. The men’s toilet was out of order and their solution was a couple of portaloos out the front of the restaurant - the type you get at music festivals. I understand this is a tricky situation that isn’t entirely their fault but surely there are better solutions. I chose to hold it until we got home.

We visited today for a Sunday Roast. I took my parents for their 40th wedding anniversary. There were 9 of us in total. We were all very happy with the service and our meals. I had the Yorkie wrap. Very much enjoyed it and we will visit again.

I visited this restaurant on Saturday with no booking and despite being busy they gave us a table. The waitress that served us was very attentive. I had asked the waitress how long the food would be straight after ordering as, as a diabetic I needed to eat very soon, the waitress made sure the kitchen knew this and we were given our food so quickly! Food was lovely as well.

One of the better establishments on the high street.. Not too over the top fancy as it looks from the outside, Good range of menu items, We had sea bass & a chicken burger with a huge side of cous cous salad which they happily packaged up for us to take home.. Great service, really friendly.. Maybe some paintwork needs addressing on the stairway to the toilets, but that's only because I've worked/managed multiple locations so notice the finer details. But if this is my only criticism, this should tell you all you need to know.. Great value.. 👍

Really enjoyed our meal here and food was good. Cocktails were great and they even do cocktail making classes you can book. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Interior is vintage theme as an old house with lots of separate rooms. There is a payable car park around the back which is walking distance. Really enjoyable experience at Olivers for one of their bottomless brunches. Food was amazing, drinks were topped up regularly and the atmosphere was perfect. A little chilly in the back room. But the decor made up for it. Would recommend.

Known for its handmade rustic dishes made with fresh locally sourced ingredients, The Quills prides itself on delivering the finest flavors and quality. With beamed dining rooms and a rich historical setting, it's a great spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
I had a very enjoyable lunch here today with my friend, the service was perfectly paced so we didn't feel rushed and the staff were extremely friendly. The menu was extensive although we both ordered the same thing, the chicken, bacon and waffle, which was excellent. The ingredients seemed like very good quality. We both had dessert, I had the chocolate and pistachio sundae which was very nice and exceeded expectations. The venue itself is light and airy, nice and clean, clean and smart toilets. Can't fault it, I will definitely return.

It was my first time in this restaurant, and I have to say that everything was great… I had two dishes, which were spot on. The chef is indeed very professional, and the handsome waiters are good as well. I will definitely go back for a meal..

It had everything for everyone. The food and service was efficient but we weren’t pushed or hurried which was nice. The staff were brilliant with our two younger kids.

Busy on Mother’s Day but booked in advance for late afternoon. Host was surly and it took ages to get served a drink. Was going to order food but we waited for so long we just finished our (less than average) cocktails and left. Just moved to the area and was looking forward to visiting as had heard great things but I definitely wasn’t impressed.

A thoroughly enjoyable meal with family before a evening in Rochester. The food was good, well presented and varied. It's really nice to see wraps and sandwiches available in the evening. Perfect for those who don't like a big, heavy meal. Portions are generous, but not over the top. Service was quick and attentive, but not intrusive. Staff were very friendly, very apologetic that we had to wait about 10mins for our reservation, but it wasn't the end of the world. Got a warm welcome and farewell as we left. The restaurant was busy, but didn't feel too over crowded and the noise level was acceptable. Facilities were clean and tidy. I'd definitely return, but be sure to book! It's popular!

We visited Rochester to see the light show at the Cathedral. We arrived early and decided to go for a meal first. We visited Quills in Rochester high street and I highly recommend it. I had the peri peri chicken, which was packed with flavour and cooked perfectly. My wife had the chicken and bacon salad, which she really enjoyed, fresh, generous portion, and nicely presented. We also shared a Greek salad on the side which was so good. The service was excellent, friendly, attentive, and quick without being rushed. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food and the overall experience. Great atmosphere too — relaxed but still felt like a treat. Definitely a place we’ll come back to!

Weekday evening visit. Hearing of the Refurb, it was a good excuse to go and try out the food. Starter: Garlic Mushrooms The mushrooms on this were plentiful and nicely cooked, the bread was nicely toasted and crispy and enjoyable. The Garlic flavouring was lacking a bit though and I couldn't taste it to be honest. Main: Full Monty This was a very nice plate of food with a good portion size! The steak was done exactly how I asked and the other meats were cooked nicely too without being dried out. My only criticisms for this were there were a couple of chips that needed another 30 seconds in the fryer and the onions rings were a bit rubbery. While these two points were a negative, they weren't enough to spoil the meal as a whole. Dessert: Cheesecake I love a cheesecake, and always get one if its on the menu so have eaten a few! This one was the firmest cheesecake I've had and it seemed a bit odd, not sure why it was so firm. The base was quite thin too. Having said that, it was nice to eat. Overall, the visit was pleasant and the atmosphere is what you would expect from a pub. The staff are friendly, even while being rushed around so no fault there. Orders must be placed at the bar or from a QR code on the table. Cutlery/sauces are self service beyond the optional menu ones (big shelf opposite the bar) I would go again,

Full Monty all the way! No, no, no one’s taking their clothes off, don’t worry. It’s the meal I had and recommend to you… Cooked to perfection and so much food, I struggled to finish. I got there in the end and managed to eat it all. A Super tasty and succulent extravaganza for my taste buds. Food wise, knocks it out the Ball Park; compared to the old owners. High production values on interior/exterior decoration throughout. A varied Menu with a multitude of tempting choices. Transmogrified a dilapidated venue into the place to go. Highly recommended. Best food around.

What a lovely pub wow was not expecting this little gem to be as good as it was with excellent service from the extremely friendly helpful staff to the amazing prices, was actually just popping in for a quick drink whilst we were in the area waiting for family to get home and ended up staying for a meal desert and couple more drinks which we managed to use the table service for, plus watched some football on the big screens they had dotted around. James the waiter was extra helpful so made our visit even better 5 stars

We had a good experience at The Mast and Rigging. The staff are friendly and made us feel welcome. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening. Lovely staff, always happy to help (especially Chloe and Abbie)! They have a weekly quiz which creates a great atmosphere and has some exciting prizes. The food is decent, although the menu could do with updating as it has been the same for quite a while. Staff are always accommodating to anything we need!

Fantastic food for reasonable prices. I used to like Beefeater, but the quality of the food and customer services dropped dramatically recently. This place really pleased me. Very friendly and supportive staff. You can order through the app from your table. They will still make a time to come and ask you if everything is OK. Also, they have come and double-checked the order. Family and dog friendly, with little playground for kids. Steaks were fantastic. We asked both to be medium rare, and they were done to perfection. 1 × Mac & Cheese with BBQ Pulled Pork £7.99 1 × Breaded Mushrooms (V)* £5.99 1 × Surf & Turf, 8oz Rump steak with x5 scampi - 3. Friday evening visit. Popped in as I hadn't for a while. To start with, I walked in the wrong door and then over to the entrance to enter my car reg. Doh! Starter: Prawn Cocktail This was very nice with the prawns being on the firmer side rather than being mush. This came with soft butter and a slice of bread which I think has been sitting for a while as it had that exposed to air for a while feel to it. It was still fine to eat, but noticable. Main: Steak and Ale Pie with Mash and peas. Very hot mash! Overall I enjoyed this meal although the pastry on the pie was a little chewy which bugged me a bit. The gravy wasn't very thick, this is just for info really, I prefer it thicker but they can't get that right for everyone! Dessert: Cheesecake I'll always get a cheesecale when I can, this one was quite soft and had a cake like base to it rather than biscuit. I read the description of it describing the raspberry jam and cold custard and was put off slightly. I tried it anyway and was surprised at how nice it was. I did find the presentation of the custard a bit gimmicky though. Service was great, friendly, polite and empty plates were taken quickly. The toilets need more extraction though, they stink! Overall, a good visit, I would return and recommend it to others.

Today’s date is the 5/9/25 walking into the restaurant in the evening at 6:30 we was welcomed by Jake. with a calm and warm personality we all felt at ease in his presence sitting at table 8 he was always there when needed. a professional server but also having a joke and laugh made it a really lovely evening for all of us . It’s been a short while since we last dined here at the restaurant and since coming back we all noticed how excellent the food was really hot and came out as we were ready for it in between dishes asking if we were ready for our next course making us feel that there was no rush which we do experience in other restaurants the service which we received from Jake was one in a million going the extra mile which we can’t thank him enough for thank you Jake for a lovely dine in

Friendly helpful staff. Food was good but bowl of chips was a fairly small portion size. Extra care was given for an allergy that was nice to see. Very dog friendly with fresh chilled water and bowls. Nice outdoor seating areas. Plenty of space inside with cool air on a hot day. Very enjoyable and look forward to a revisit.

Got a leaflet through the door about their Oktoberfest event, so curiosity spiked and we visited. Couldn't get a Lowenbrau, which was a massive disappointment. The gent at the bar explained they sent the wrong connectors and Lowenbrau was taking their time sorting it. This was a big part of us coming. We also couldn't get a stein of anything else, I assume this was because the steins were Lowenbrau branded, which is fair enough, but sucks. Onto the food, the Oktoberfest food wasn't available to order when I scanned the QR code. Luckily the gent at the bar put that through with the same discount we would have got (via the leaflet) on the till, and 10% of our drinks too considering all the faff so far. Between us we ordered the Oktoberfeast. Pricing, quality and quantity it was a good deal. I understand swapping pork knuckle (traditional) for gammon. I think you should have stuck to a chicken schnitzel, the southern fried chicken was nice but not German. The sauerkraut was excellent, would love to know the brand. The fellow who brought the food out commented this was the first Oktoberfeast he had seen since the event started (this was the third day). I appreciate he is a single person, but I have a sneaking suspicion it was because it wasn't available to order via the QR code. Good concept, poor execution.

Such a variety of games to choose from including 1 player games through to 10+ players, a 3 hour session went by sooo quickly. The drinks were lovely we had iced coffees, ice cream matcha and milkshakes. The menu was quite small but staff were also able to cater for both vegetarian and coeliac needs within the group. A really fun way to spend an afternoon and great value.

This is a great place to visit, especially if you like board games. They have games for all skills and ages (even little ones). The food options are good and tasty. Service is friendly and swift. The concept is great - book a table ahead of time (they may accept walk-ins if there's space), - then order your food via an iPad that they give you to use. - next you pop into the next room to select a board game and bring it back to your table to play - Your food/drinks arrive as you play and you can order more refreshments via the iPad for the duration of your 3 hour booking - You have a great time and pay when you're done. Great idea that is well-executed!

So lucky to have this place on our doorstop! Such an amazing space to play games with friends & family alike. The staff are so friendly & helpful - they could recommend games based on our party size & likes & checked in with us at various points. Yesterday we had our wedding day! I cannot recommend or rate The George Vaults anymore for creating the most perfect day for us. Carla was our wedding planner and on the day of the wedding she was joined by Summer. I’d spoken with Carla a few times about the ideas I had for decorating and what her and her team created made my ideas seem tiny! When I say it blew every expectation I’m not kidding. I couldn’t have done that. One other serious thing at a wedding FOOD! We didn’t want a sit down meal as it isn’t us and we wanted a twilight buffet wedding and when I say the portions of food on the buffet are ridiculous huge…. Be prepared for a feast LOL! I have never seen food like it, plus it tasted absolutely amazing. Every single member of staff that was there on our day were so friendly and nothing ever felt like it was too much. We’re very grateful for everything that was done here for our special day. Love the Smiths xxx

After eating here before and having a good experience we decided to come here for a Sunday roast. Well, we were told only one pork roast left, which is fine so everyone ordered. Food arrived cold, the excuse for this was that the door was open🤣. We were told all fresh roasts would be prepared, not sure this was true as my mum still had her pork roast- after it being the last one? So think it was microwaved! My dad ordered cauliflower cheese which we had to get taken off the bill at the end as never arrived! We did get a free round of drinks which was good. Our server was lovely and really apologetic - it’s not her fault! Cocktails were really good though!

Service was attentive yet unobtrusive, with staff showing good knowledge of the menu and offering helpful recommendations. FAULTLESS. Wow wow wow. This is one of my new favourite restaurants and one I’ve been telling everyone who will listen to try. Me and my partner came a month or so ago on a Friday night. It was busy but we’d booked in advance as knew it was best to. We were shown to a comfy booth to sit in and ordered a cocktail and a beer. The service was good with the waiter offering to help by explaining the menu as it was our first time visiting. The chef also came out to check we enjoyed the food which was a lovely touch. We went all out - ordering three courses and a bottle of wine. Considering this; I felt the price was really reasonable. I loved the goats cheese salad and will be ordering that again every time. The lamb biryani and chicken thighs were also delicious… everything was! If you like mango cheesecake then don’t skip this - it was worth going home uncomfortably full! We enjoy spice and a bit of heat so this was perfect for us, but be mindful of what you order if you don’t. They did explain this to us when we first looked at the menu too. The atmosphere was lovely, it was comfortable and the lighting creating a great setting. Despite being a full restaurant, the service didn’t falter and everything was perfectly timed.

Our first visit and what a delight! Lovely ambience and comfortable seating; staff were attentive and helpful and so nice to talk to the owner! Congratulations to all involved. Now to talk about the food - we shared two ‘starters’, the locally named Waghorn potatoes and the soy based cauliflower. Both were very delicious, just spicy enough without being overwhelming. We all had a different main meal with rice and garlic naan - plentiful portions and rich, warming sauces. Special shout out to the ‘not butter chicken’! I have to mention also the chai affogato - indescribable in its beauty lol.

A lovely meal. We decided to go with a few starters to try. Each of them had a real depth of flavour which was a real treat to eat. For the main we had a mixture of different curries. I had the mutton curry which was a warm Rich sauce. The mate was falling off the bone and it went beautifully with a pilau rice and a cheese and truffle naan bread.

Nice place to come to take a stroll along the Medway, sit on one of the many benches or do a spot of birdwatching. It’s is very today so don’t expect to see much water at low tide, just miles of mud flats. The coastal walk and Saxon shore way pass through here. We had a wonderful day at Riverside County Park! Peaceful atmosphere, well-maintained walking paths, and beautiful nature all around. It was a perfect spot for a relaxing walk with my wife and our dog Carmen. Definitely recommend for anyone looking to unwind in nature

It is a lovely country park where you can take several different paths through the woods or stroll along the water side. You can try to spot rabbits and many different birds. People come to jog, cycle, walk a dog or for a family walk. The parking is a one off charge for a day.

Country Park located on the Medway Estuary. Provides lowland pasture, Marsh, and woodland, mixed with historic wharves. Great views out to the Thames, Sheerness, & Isle of Grain.

Great place to take the kids. Play park and plenty of room for a picnic. If you're older and want a quiet walk head down early or during school times and take a lovely walk either direction along the shoreline.

Lovely stretch of marshland with interesting history along the Thames Estuary. Good place to take a stroll or walk the dog. £2.50 for car park. Nice cafe. Play area for children.
Andrea D — Google review
Whether you're walking your dog, your kids or yourself, this is a great place to feel a bit out-doorsy without the dangers of hiking in grizzly bear territory. Don't go chasing the birds on the salt flats or marshy bits, you might get drowned by the incoming tide or the dark looks of the other walkers along the paths. Treat yourself to a coffee or an ice-cream at the Café.

Recently discovered and will now regularly visit for walks on my lunch. Perfect for short walks to get fresh air and steps in. Depending on the weather, you can discover more paths that have been blocked by the water the day before. Free parking and lots of spaces available.

Selected as a last-minute option, Waggon at Hale has now earned a spot on the regular list due to its convenient location and dog-friendly atmosphere. Despite getting caught in traffic and losing their usual reservation, the customers easily found this place and made a quick booking. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and efficient, ensuring minimal waiting time for service. The food was a delightful treat – freshly cooked, hot, and delicious.
The food was amazing ,it came out piping hot. Chips looked a little brown but tasted really good. Special offers are on in the week which is a good money saver. My husband and I really enjoyed it. Barmaid was lovely. Will definitely be going back .

The establishment provides a family-friendly atmosphere, complete with playground equipment such as a slide and swing set, and offers competitively priced food and beverages. Minor enhancements are recommended in the areas of sanitation and interior design. The presence of animals allows for interactive feeding opportunities for children.

Absolutely disgusting treatment of the goats and the pig. I’ve never seen anything like it. I hope people keep giving you bad reviews about how you treat your poor animals. I will not stop trying to get your animals taken somewhere better, because there are many animal sanctuaries. Your goats are starving and displaying seriously concerning behaviours, and both your goats and pig are living in non enrichment and disgusting conditions.

Popped in for a quick drink while it was warm. Didn't eat here but upon walking inside the venue, we were hit with a lovely smell of freshly cooked fish and chips which smelled great. The drinks I feel were decently priced, not cheap but not too expensive either. The animals in the back are a unique attraction in a pub. These are obviously catered to children, but I can't help but feel they could be better looked after. The rabbit and chicken enclosures seem to be in decent nick, but the goat pen wasn't and the pig's pen was a mess. There was wood from a broken fence all over the place as well as rubbish scattered around. Not a nice environment for a pig to live I feel. The garden as a whole could do with a clean up. Appreciate we're getting out of the winter months which may have affected this but the garden certainly needs some attention. As a whole, it's a decent pub that has a lot of potential. I think it would benefit from garden maintenance, especially in the animal enclosures. The inside is nice and clean, and looks well kept after, just a shame we can't say the same for the outdoor area. I'd definitely like to come back in the warmer months to see an improved garden!

This place is a Medway Gem, and I would hate to see it close like many other pubs have done. The allegations of animals not having correct housing is RUBBISH they were truly loved and looked after by Emma and her team. Real nice pub for either a quick refreshing pint or a traditional Hearty English dinner. Food 5⭐️ service 5⭐️

As you can see from the photos , my roast beef had 3 potatoes in it for 15 pound ( quite shocked tbh ) . Half the potatoes were inedible as you can see from The photos black . Not even any potato left inside . The Yorkshire tasted like it had just been taken from the freezer and warmed under a hot lamp , still had frozen chill on bottom . And the portion size is not enough for a 15 pound meal . I won’t order again personally
James E — Google review
Great local pub. It has a small petting zoo with chickens, roosters ,goats ,pigs and ducks. The kids had a lot of fun while we were enjoying a cold beer in the beer garden. Defenetly recommend this pub if you have kids.

Absolute treasure of a place. Lovely environment, with welcoming friendly bar tender. Toilets were clean. Dog friendly. Lots of choices, opted for the flavoured gin, delicious. Food was a good selection, plenty of dishes on the menu. Food was great. Outside space is the best. A big seating area, a childrens play area. And the great addition of goats, pigs, rabbits, and chickens. A lovely afternoon out in Chatham

Hamburger restaurant
Chuck and Blade Burgers is a popular spot in Rochester, known for its industrial-style setting and delicious homemade burgers, fries, and milkshakes. The restaurant has received recognition at the Rochester Food and Drink awards 2021. With an all-American vibe, it's a great place for a family outing or casual dining experience. The menu features indulgent handcrafted burgers like the Cluck Norris burger and decadent shakes such as the Lotus Biscoff shake.
Very pleased with our first visit here. Large menu to choose from. Food was delicious and served quickly. Halloumi sticks and caramel milkshake were my favourites. Only suggestion would be to have a drink or a handful of fries included with the £10 kids burger.

First time visiting this restaurant. My good friend supplies the buns for this chain. Some items aren't available anymore, which is a shame, but what we had was good, but pricey 4 of us was £110 I may not be a regular but will visit again. I think the menu should have photos, not a clipboard with 2 A4 size paper, not a good look for an expensive burger restaurant.i wished I ordered a milkshake,it looks great, maybe the next time.
Aziz M — Google review
Random wander into this place with a friend. The place is laid out well with a cool vibe. The burgers are delicious i had the quadzilla honestly the tastiest burger I've had in years. The milkshake being a strawberry cheesecake one was so thick and moreish. The service however was very lacking......seemed understaffed and constantly people chasing either cutlery not being given or just their orders not arriving fully. If the service is sorted out this place would be 5 star. Definitely be back we loved the food.
Medley A — Google review
So one thing that is a huge win for a burger place is the milkshakes here, they are phenomenal, highly recommend the biscoff. The burgers themselves are really good, taste great, tatertots and fries really good win. I would love to give full five stars but the slight drawback was the wait time, even though attended when it was quiet seemed to be a fairly long wait for food to be delivered. The server she was great and did come over to apologise before even asked about the time for the food and she herself was friendly and and seemed genuine apologising about our wait.
Hari S — Google review
Ordered on uber for the 2nd time, neither time has been great. Chicken was overcooked, fries undercooked and halloumi overcooked. Also didn’t follow requests. Beef burger was quite nice but the bread to meat ratio was a bit off. However, the brownie was absolutely AMAZING!!! Won’t be ordering again, as tried twice ☹️
Lacie M — Google review
I visited Chuck and Blades in Rochester today 5th July’25 with my mum and brother. We had a table booked for 3:45pm, but after placing our order, we waited around an hour for our food to arrive. When it finally did, not only was the order wrong, but my burger bun was completely burnt — as you can see in the photo, it was black and tasted awful. I told the staff it was inedible and that I wouldn’t be eating it, but they didn’t offer to provide a replacement or take the burger off the bill. Instead, they insisted on charging for it and only offered a 15% discount — just a couple of pounds — for food I couldn’t eat. That felt incredibly unfair. What’s worse is this isn’t the first bad experience here. We used to come regularly, but the last few visits have all involved over an hour’s wait, wrong orders, and food that just isn’t up to standard anymore. It’s clear they’re overwhelmed by online orders, and in-house diners are no longer a priority. I did try to resolve the issue at the restaurant but was met with little understanding or accountability. I will be contacting the business directly to give them a chance to make things right — but if not, this review will remain as a true reflection of our experience. Really sad 😔

Nestled within the historic Pumphouse, which dates back to 1873, The Pumproom @ Copper Rivet Distillery is a delightful dining destination that opened in April 2021. This charming venue offers a relaxed fine dining experience where guests can choose between an inviting indoor space or a picturesque terrace overlooking the stunning River Medway and Upnor Castle.
I first discovered the Copper Rivet strawberry gin, which I liked so much I researched and found out about the distillery and restaurant along the river in Chatham.. and I had to experience dining at the place that made such a good quality gin. We were not disappointed.. quality cocktails, service and food.. you do pay a bit more but for a special occasion it’s just perfect.. first we had drinks outside with lovely views along the river, and blankets provided in case it gets chilly (we actually had a bit of sun!!).. and then inside the amazing building for dinner.. the food blew us away and my husband told the waitress he wanted to marry the chef 😂 which I totally understood… will definitely go back and look forward to it! And the triple cooked chips which we will have with whatever we order..

We were gifted some vouchers for a treat. What a discovery - set in an old, refurbished industrial building with a contempt atmosphere. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. Nice drinks menu with local spirits and wines, and some interesting cocktails including non-alcoholic options.

Brilliant lunch-time dining experience with highly attentive service, friendly staff and impeccable dishes in a very pleasant dining room. The lunch specials were each very impressive and incredible value for money. The dockyard area nearby was additionally very scenic. Highly recommended, will be back again!

We were walking on a Friday evening and I saw they'd reopened the bar, it was hot, sunny and perfect bet garden weather so we popped in. The place is amazing, stunning old building which had been thoughtfully restored and has an amazing feel. Drinks choice want huge but the beer was perfect, we sat outside in the sun, right next to the rubber looking at the works go by and the castle opposite. Great chilled vibe and music so stayed for another and loved it.

The pumproom is the perfect place for an occasion. It’s on the pricier side, but it’s honestly worth every penny! We went for our wedding anniversary and had put it on the booking form. They welcomed us with a card on the table, we had a free cocktail and some fudge at the end of the meal too. The staff were lovely and so knowledgeable about everything on the menu. We had every course going and the flavours in every part were beautiful. Lots of combinations you wouldn’t necessarily find elsewhere, the bone marrow fondue was our absolute highlight. The cocktails menu is extensive and there’s loads with alcohols from the distillery to choose from. It’s also lovely to have the view out onto the river with Upnor castle in the distance. Such a gem to find in Chatham, we loved it!

The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. We tried the traditional Sunday roast today. First it came with the bread and starters which are absolutely delicious! I especially love the creamy butter. I forgot what it is but it tastes like duck liver. The radish and the pumpkin cake is tasty too. Then it comes the main course. The tender beef is just outstanding. It is so soft that even my grandma can chew. I don’t like the Yorkshire pudding elsewhere but mixed with the gravy here, it is very juicy. We don’t like roasted potatoes so we asked if we can change it for fries. I guess the chef insisted that Sunday roast should come with roasted potatoes so it is served this way (sorry if it’s a weird request), but they’re so nice that they gave us some fries as well. Finally the dessert is also really good but we’re too full already, so we took away all of them. Warm services, good food, scenic surroundings (you can see the Upnor Castle from here), this is all you can get from the Pumproom!

Went here for the Gin Tasting and Sunday lunch. Very well presented and clean distillery. Tour very informative and tasting 5 gins and a free drink at the bar. Service in the restaurant very good and friendly staff with a smile and very interactive with the customer. Portions a good size and little touches like the Ham taster and the Whisky sour jelly. Overall a great experience and worth going to find out about the whisky and gins they make there. The butter with the bread is mixed with the leftover yeast from fermentation to make a sort of marmite butter. Very tasty. 😂

My partner and I went on the gin tour and found it very educational and fun, the manager Domonic was extremely knowledgeable and answered any questions we had, we followed the tour with a delicious 5* meal and wonderful cocktails on the terrace. The staff were attentive, professional and personal which made the night a wonderful experience. We will return with friends very soon and look forward to it.

Seafood restaurant
If you're a seafood enthusiast, Fish at 55 is an absolute must-visit in the charming city of Rochester. Nestled on the historic High Street, this delightful eatery specializes in an impressive selection of fresh fish sourced from local trawlers and succulent oysters from West Mersea. The restaurant prides itself on its commitment to quality, sourcing most of its produce from Billingsgate Fish Market and trusted fishermen in Hythe, ensuring that everything served is delivered fresh daily.
Absolutely outstanding fish restaurant – easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. From start to finish, every dish was a masterclass in quality and execution. I started with the tempura prawns, which were light, crisp, and perfectly cooked – no grease, just golden perfection. For the main, I had the Hake fillet, and it was sublime. Cooked to absolute perfection, delicately seasoned, and so fresh it practically melted in my mouth. You can tell the kitchen knows their way around premium seafood and treats it with respect. My partner began with the fish soup, which was rich, flavorful, and deeply satisfying without being heavy. They followed it with the bento box, which offered an elegant selection of items, each beautifully presented and tasting as good as it looked. Every element was top quality, with just the right amount of oil to bring out the flavor without overpowering the dish. The attention to detail was clear in every bite. Service was excellent too – warm, knowledgeable, and efficient.
Deborah B — Google review
This is meant to be a really good fish restaurant and although there are some good points to the restaurant it doesn't compare favourably to other top restaurants i have been too. I found that the food that was going round the tables was thoughtfully and creatively presented. My food when delivered to the table was well presented but not imaginative compared to some of the other dishes. The food did not deliver, it was very low in flavour and the chips were of a poor quality. The desert I had was tasty but it didn't stand out. It seemed like a mid tier restaurant with ambitions of being higher. The service was faultless. Waiters and waitresses greeted us both with genuine smiles at the door. The smiling service and genuine interest in our welfare continued throughout the meal. They checked on us and checked to see if we had been happy with our meals. I didnt enjoy the atmosphere, I found it very basic. There isn't much in the way of a strong vibe with little decorations and basic tables. The decor fits a village fish restaurant but does not reflect the amount of money that is spent there. They could do more to upgrade it particularly in the lack lustre bathrooms. It also became very noisy at points and hard to hear my dinner partner.
Lauren W — Google review
Can’t fault this as a breakfast spot! The portions were generous, the quality of the food great and on par with other close by breakfast spots that charge a fair bit more. I thought the price was really reasonable. I asked for the black pudding to be removed and they offered hash-browns at no extra cost. The waiter was polite and efficient - couldn’t ask for more! Will absolutely be visiting again.

Two weeks after our visit (ironically whilst I was writing a 5* review) we checked our bank account and realised that we had been charged twice for our meal. We first contacted the restaurant by phone and were told a manager would contact us the following day by 8pm. This never happened so we called at 8.15pm and were told this was never logged with a manager but someone would call the following day, which they did and asked for proof via email. We sent this the same day, and had to chase this 3 days later as we had received no response. We finally had a reply and confirmation that the refund had been processed, a week after initially calling. This was a very disappointing end to our experience and not how we expected our issue to be managed (or not, in this case). However, below is my original review which shows that we were impressed with our visit on the actual day, but I’ve taken a star off due to our experience post-visit. We had a great meal to celebrate our Nan’s 90th birthday at Fish at 55, we were very well looked after from the moment we arrived and birthday girl was given a complimentary glass of bubbly and a candle in her pudding! Throughout our visit staff were attentive and friendly. All the food was fantastic. The prawn cocktail to start was lovely with a very generous serving of Marie Rose sauce. I then had the fish from the specials board which was again cooked and presented very well. To finish off I had the banoffee pie which is my favourite so ended the meal the very best way! The only thing I would say is that it was quite difficult for Nan to get to the toilet on the first floor as both sets of stairs are quite steep / spiral, so I’m not sure how accessible it would be for people with mobility difficulties. Other than this, I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.
Laura D — Google review
A lovely meal, with great friendly service. We had salt and pepper squids, and mussels for starter. For the mains we had seafood grilled platter (I would recommend this but other things in the menu would definitely take my fancy now over this as it didn't have a humongous amount of flavour, it was letting the fish do the talking in the dish. Which is what you would expect from a seafood grill). We will side the monkfish wrapped in Parma ham on creamy, mashed potato and pesto. This was absolutely stunning. And then for dessert we treated ourselves to sticky toffee pudding which was stunning and a cheesecake. Overall we would be going back again and would love to try other things on the menu. The sushi definitely looks like something to try
Myles S — Google review
Overall pretty disappointing meal. We ordered from the sushi for lunch - but having taken order they returned to say that sushi would not now be available for an hour or so. Having chosen to dine here on the basis of the menu that was a bit of a bummer. Replacement dish of mussels arrives - but so full of sand that my wife had to reject and after that had lost her appetite to explore the menu further. PS the menu could have done with a wipe too - sticky with fingerprints and wine residue. I had a skate wing. It was OK - not especially flavoursome. A bit light on the butter sauce and the full can of capers tipped on top that was kinda overkill and crowded. It certainly didn't add any to the presentation or experience. The 'herbed mash' was, I suppose, just about legal under the trade descriptions act. But Gordon Ramsay would have sent it back. It had the 'school dinners' vibe. Yeah, there was a sprinkle of parsley on top, and parsley is a herb, having taken one mouthful from this sad scoop (£5 plus the obligatory 12.5% service) I left it untouched. Canteen fare. The sand-filled mussels were not charged, but we noted how nobody ever asked if we'd enjoyed the meal. I think they anticipated. We could see and hear the staff discussing the mussels with the manager / owner - but he did not bother to come over and engage with the customer. Nor was there any query or thanks after we paid and left. So all in all, pretty disappointing, both on a food front, and on a customer service front.

Visited The Crown on the 29th of December for a tasty pub lunch. Enjoyed a well-cooked steak pie, mashed potatoes, and cabbage. The meal was delicious and skillfully prepared. Returned with my wife on April 7th, where she ordered Firecracker chicken while I opted for the King Burger from their specials board. Both dishes were fabulous, especially the burger which was deemed the best ever tasted!
Well what a fantastic surprise this was! Based on great online reviews, we booked a table for a small chistmas family gathering and were so impressed with everything, the food, the service, the presentation, the warm welcome of the staff. We are definitely booking again for next year but will also be back before then for lunch & dinner. What a great pub! Well done all and all the best for a fabulous New Year! Highly recommended!!

Lovely pub with cozy slightly below upmarket feel. Service was friendly and efficient. Food portions are MASSIVE, so be prepared to come hungry. Fish and chips was good but not at the 5 star level. Found the batter to not have much flavour but it's a fun batter once fried, very puffy. Fixed with a bit of salt and vinegar. Will definitely recommend to others. Been told their Sunday Roasts are also a win here.

We needed a pub that served food. The Royal Crown did not disappoint. We were able to snag comfy seats by the window. The calamari was fresh and had a nice sauce and a few pomegranate seeds for garnish. We had to order two as the portion was small for 3 hungry-ish people.

Love this pub! Second time I’ve had Sunday lunch here and the food is unreal. Generous portions and everything tasting so nice. Bought my mum and dad here today and they were really impressed too. It’s a comfortable, cosy pub to sit and chill in on a Sunday and the staff are friendly and really look after you too. Already looking forward to coming back again and trying other dishes on the menu on a different evening as I’ve had drinks in here previously and the cocktails are great as well

A large two storey pub overlooking the river Medway, on my visit the football was on so it was very lively, however due to the bars being on multiple floors it felt that service was still very quick. An interesting selection of drinks available, however I did enjoy that they had Spitfire! Shots and shooters are also available as we had a few baby Guinness

Absolutely superb staff on deck today, the lad that served us was incredibly attentive. They also tolerated us letting our little one run around the pub! Great atmosphere, friendly customers and clean setting. Good music playlist also. Food - fish and chips was amazing. Expensive, but worth it as it was freshly fried rather than combi heated. Chips were not thick fish and chips "chips" , but they were good enough! Pudding - ferrero rocher sundae, not so great and could be improved (plain chocolate and vanilla ice cream with crushed Ferrero Rochers). Would advise using a hazelnut ice cream and/or hazelnut syrup. Or, even a Nutella spread squeezed over would improve the flavour.

Cold start, warm hearts, and food that totally delivered! ❄️🔥 We arrived at Kaya Meze Bar excited for dinner but ended up waiting outside in the freezing cold thanks to overbooking. When we finally got seated (right by the door—hello, cold breeze!), the amazing staff quickly turned things around with two free shots each, friendly smiles, and fantastic service. 🍽 Food Turkish perfection! Juicy chicken and lamb, fluffy rice, warm pita, everything full of flavour and cooked just right. 🍸 Drinks Cocktails were next-level. The Espresso Martini in particular was smooth, rich, and dangerously good. 🤝 Service The staff were absolute stars, apologetic, attentive, and genuinely lovely. The manager was fun, and even the owner came over for a friendly chat. 🪑 Atmosphere Lively, loud, and clearly popular! Great vibe, just a bit too cramped on a busy Saturday night. 💡 Improvement suggestion: 🧊 Tighten up the booking system to avoid long waits. 🚪 Add a curtain or screen by the door to stop the draft. 💬 Overall Despite the chilly start, the warmth of the food and service completely won us over. Kaya Meze Bar is full of flavour, fun, and personality. Would I go again? Definitely, just maybe not at 8 p.m. on a Saturday! 😄

Great sandwiches and mocktail for lunch while in Rochester. We both had the meatballs and was great to cater for a vegetarian option of meatballs too. Both really tasty with the side of chips! Mocktails were both a great addition for the meal.

Very friendly staff, service impeccable & of course the food was superb. It felt really cosy when we popped in for a late lunch on our day trip from London yesterday. Portion sizes are fantastic for tapas, very tasty as well, we will definitely be back when we visit again as I can’t wait to have the Belly Pork rice bowl again as it was delicious! Thank you for having us!

The restaurant has nice atmosphere. The drinks menu is very good, happy with sangria, wine and cocktail that we ordered. Food is decent as Spanish food is difficult outside of Spain. The olives were plump, sardines were good, but a bit bland. The Spanish tortilla was bland. What saved it for us was the Spanish cheeseboard and the créme catalana, both were really nice.

Maybe I caught them on a bad night, but this place has really taken a step down since I visited it last. Very rushed service - they couldn't put the food out any quicker ( all so they could get the table back quicker). For those who think that's a good thing imagine taking two bites of a starter and then your main get put in front of you and then another plate after that. Food is nothing spectacular to be honest considering the cost - the place isn't bad but it used to be spectacular and now it's quite mediocre yet relatively expensive. A few years ago I could have confidently recommended this place as one of the best restaurants in Dundee but I honestly wouldn't be able to make that claim.

Really enjoyed the food and drinks here this evening. Friendly service, tasty food and the drinks were made great. We enjoyed the dinner offer, 3 tapas dishes for £19.99, ordered 6 plates and omg we were stuffed! Portions were generous for a tapas restaurant and everything was cooked and tasted so nice! Will be back and would recommend

Went here for my birthday with a friend for lunch. We were the only ones in there which was great as we had the whole place to ourselves. Such warmth and cosy atmosphere and very clean. We sat by the window and we were served by Lin who was very attentive and engaging in conversation. The food was absolutely divine! We had the set menu and shared our food. Definitely would come again and would recommend to everyone!

Great service and atmosphere, but the food should be a lot better for the price. We had the lunch time special - 3 Tapas (small plates) for £19.99... 🤔
Adam P — Google review
Our first time coming here and overall, we were impressed by the service but underwhelmed by the food. Olives were big and delicious and the selection of wine is very good, enjoyed the Rioja. Cosy seating and a feel of a bar in Spain with the decor and music. The food menu is large and with lots of veggie options, however, we wonder if downsizing might be a good move to focus more on quality and being able to cook more fresh dishes. Would definitely prefer less selection with dishes based on the available good produce. We ordered all vegetarian tapas: patatas bravas, halloumi, padron peppers, breaded mushrooms, tostada tomate, Spanish tortilla. For us, all of the dishes were cooked well but overall all a bit bland. The padron peppers were decent as could tell they were cooked fresh and there were a good amount, the rest didn't pack much flavour (the tomatoes for example were bland, which on a simple dish really showed up) and the garlic mayonnaise on several of the dishes tasted processed (either a pre-made sauce or bottled mayonnaise with garlic added). Portion sizes were quite small for the price, we had 6 dishes between 2 and still had space for dessert. The churros as dessert were the best dish, although we think hot chocolate sauce would be an improvement here. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly and was helpful with recommendations (spot on with the amount of tapas to order), she definitely represented the vibe of the restaurant well. However, it was a bit off-putting when we arrived to have 2 staff members smoking sat outside at by the restaurant entrance. Think this could be a great little restaurant and hopefully our experience was a one off dip in quality of produce.

Pub
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Rochester, Ye Arrow stands out as a charming town center pub that offers an unexpected delight: a stunning view of the iconic castle and cathedral from its lovely beer garden. While it may appear unassuming from the front, stepping into this inviting space reveals a picturesque outdoor area where you can sip your drink while soaking in the beauty of historic architecture and cobbled streets.
Delicious dishes, friendly service, nice view to the castle and the cathedral. :) Everything was really great! :)

Excellent food from an extensive menu at very reasonable prices. Beer is good too🍻. Had a combo to share - ribs, wings, onion wings, fries, salad £18.95. Plenty for two people. As we enjoyed it so much we went back two days later. Each had a baguette with fresh salad and crisps. £5.95/£6.95. Absolute bargain. Large outside seating area with lovely views of the castle and cathedral.

The Pub Garden view is amazing, not many venues can boast a view of a Castle and a Cathedral… The meals I’ve tried have always been to a high quality and very tasty indeed. Value for money too! Inside the lighting is a little dull but I guess it’s because in the evening the venue is more dedicated to becoming a theme bar, with a Dance floor. It can get very busy in the evenings due to the influx of people having a night out and listening to live Music. I’ve had many great nights out here. Great memories… Definitely Recommended.

After an awful reception from staff and their yappy dog at The Coopers Arms, we headed to Ye Arrow for lunch after a long autumn walk. We were greeted by a wonderfully lovely and friendly fella behind the bar called Mike, and it was just what my boyfriend and I needed to have our faith in people and hospitality staff restored 😂 We are not fancy people and wanted something simply yet tasty for lunch, and that’s exactly what we got. A varied yet straightforward menu with food coming out quickly. It was a Monday lunchtime, so only a few tables of people were filled inside - but I could tell that it’s an amazing big space for busy evenings on the weekends with music playing (HUGE smoking area/outside chair area outside opposite the castle, too 🤩) Thanks again to Mike for an extremely polite, professional and personable welcome and flawless service. (My only complaint is only getting one cherry tomato on my Ploughman’s salad 🤭)

Nice spot to stop and eat. We had the dish for 2 and it was great the place is clean and the toilets are marvellous. But like almost every restaurant in the UK nowadays, you won’t get served at the table anymore, this does not have QR codes but you have to order at the bar. When eating outside home people want service and someone to take up the order at table. But somehow nowadays that is a dream…

The Dead Pigeon, established in 2018, has quickly become a popular spot in Rochester. Boasting an extensive selection of over 100 local craft beers and serving up delicious burgers, it's a go-to destination for beer enthusiasts and foodies alike. This modern pub is also known for being a great place to catch sports games while enjoying your favorite brews.
Amazing food as always. Freshly cooked to order. I can highly recommend the mango or pineapple cider which is homemade. I have tried all the burger places in Rochester and this is the best, do not even bother trying anywhere else you will never get a better burger x

Burgers and bar. The burgers were very filling, good variety of choices and a menu we'll thought of. Ordered the feast platter, more than enough for two. Fries were crispy sauces were good and OG burger sauce was my favourite. Chicken tenders buffalo sauce were finger licking good and onion rings were mastered too. If you craving a juicy filling burger it's a good spot. Many TVs playing football very nice. Music was nice in the background not loud either just perfect volume. Toilets were clean and modern great for a bar. The little notes I would mention for improvements. Tables weren't very clean and that's fair as only one employee was there on a Sunday evening. The lights in the restaurant some areas were dim. The table we sat one was tilting back and forth. The food took 25-30 minutes to be served and tables weren't even half full, could be a Sunday evening pace. Soft drinks weren't on the menu despite availability, and were 3.5£ no refill. Would be very good if the orders could be done via phones or if someone came to take them as some might have questions about the menu best asked then order is placed. Will come back again for more burgers!

Generally has been quite good in the past and any mistakes rectified. This is our family’s go to takeaway when we have one. Felt a bit mislead this time with their monthly special, portion size didn’t seem to match with their promotional pictures. Customer service didn’t seem very accepting of this. Both burgers were served pink (not for the first time), should really be disclosed on the website but it’s my fault too for not specifying well done. Bit disappointed in what I received and the response I got, £42.50 is a lot of money for a 2 person takeaway order. I would like to return as their food has been very good in the past but it seems that their standards are slipping and any critique isn’t really taken into consideration.

Superb burgers out of at least a dozen visits we had maybe one time where it wasn't as top notch as normal (perhaps regular chef was on holiday). The special PBJ burger was out of this world and needs to be a main menu burger pls! Superb drink selections even for non alcoholic beers and the likes. My biggest criticism is avoid eating in when any sport event is on, because jf you want to hold any sort of conversation with your family/friends/partner you have to shout at them, they have the volume up ridiculously loud it's pretty horrendous. So if you go when no football or rugby matches are on then great it's even worth the wait on busy nights for the top notch food.

Jerk Cafe is a delightful gem that promises an authentic Caribbean experience. With its casual and inviting atmosphere, this cafe is perfect for those looking to indulge in flavorful dishes. While there may be some hiccups with ordering—like receiving the wrong dish—the food itself shines brightly. The jerk chicken, in particular, stands out as juicy and smoky, though a touch more spice could elevate it even further. The friendly staff and lively reggae music create a vibrant ambiance that enhances your dining experience.
Absolutely stunning food and superb friendly vibe. Definitely five star. Food has depth of flavour, those gravy’s and sauces compliment the food perfectly 👌🏼Be back real soon ✅

⸻ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Small, relaxed and full of flavour! Booking wasn’t the easiest (best to use email), but once there it was well worth it. The café-style layout is casual and welcoming, staff are friendly, and the reggae background adds to the atmosphere (though it can get a little loud when busy). The food is the real star: proper authentic Caribbean flavours. The jerk chicken was outstanding – juicy, cooked on the bone, and packed with smoky spice. Oxtail vanished from the table before I even got to try it, patties were full of flavour, and the Yardie Fries are a must-order. Some dishes had sold out, but everything we did try was excellent. Definitely a spot to return to.

We went for a mid week lunch. Food was delightful and customer service was also great. Good selection of food items and drinks; we even grabbed some snacks and punch to go. Will most definitely return.

I was looking forward to trying the food here for a long time.... The food I got for a take away was very good but unfortunately when I got home the order was wrong... I was looking forward to the ox tail but got a completely different dish instead. Ordering was painful as the ticket was written out 4 or 5 times I think maybe a new member of staff so I wouldn't hold that against them. The food its self was very good but maybe a little bit more of spice on the jerk chicken wouldn't go a miss. I will return but maybe have my order double checked before leaving. I would give the food 5 stars but have knocked off a star because I really wanted the ox tail..... next time maybe.

What a gem of a stadium. Packed between houses with actual floodlights. Good atmosphere from the fans. There's an excellent club shop for a 4th tier club, and great pub inside the stadium with reasonable prices. I have fond memories from Gillingham and hope to visit there in the future.

I am extremely picky and will usually find something to criticise, but we had an absolutely perfect evening here. I had only called to book a table here at around 1pm on the day and they missed my call and then returned the call straight after. So thank you. Food came out in good timing and was faultless, very generous portions. Chocolate cake was delish. Clare was very attentive, fab service. Thank you.

Wow! First time to Smoqe and won’t be the last! Stumbled across this absolute gem whilst looking around Rochester high street. I’ll be honest, I’m not normally one to stop at a burger restaurant but my husband fancied a burger so I obliged! So glad I did! The best burger I’ve had! We visited one evening and popped in with the hope of getting a table without booking. The owners were friendly, welcoming, and couldn't do enough to help. They were genuine people, and this definitely added to our experience. I was on a strict diet, and they helped cater to my needs without issue. Another plus! When the food arrived, I can honestly say it was one of the nicest burgers I have ever tasted. Everything was cooked with time and care, it certainly showed in every meal. We will definitely be back for more when next in Rochester. This is a real gem of a restaurant that needs the support of all! Highly recommended 👌 Update - we visited again 05.10.24 and had another fantastic meal. Salads were delicious and staff very friendly, just as our first visit. We'll definitely be back!

I went there after my graduation to have a lovely lunch, and oh my goodness, the burger was so good. I haven't had such a great meal in a very long time. The gorgeous lady with a beautiful smile took such good care of us (shame I didn't ask her name), and there was this very handsome, charming guy who served us ( I wanted to ask his name, though, I was shy ). Thank you for an amazing service. Hopefully, we will be back there again.

A lovely looking place that draws you in. But....once you're there. The overpriced food is mediocre. The butter chicken burger is £17.. alone, no fries or side salad. Which I felt was over priced, but if the taste was out of this world you would understand. The burger was very small and bland and most of the chicken was dry throughout the dishes. The pulled pork was pretty dry as the chips topper. No effort to make it into a dish. The kids menu is very limited. Nothing healthy, or even a side salad with the dishes. Most places offer a complete kids meal, drinks included and usually a dessert for £7.99. This place has just the main for £7.50. We ordered two kids meals and two adults meals, and spent nearly £95. Which is completely crazy seeing as the prices are like fine dining but unfortunately the taste is not. The staff are lovely and friendly, Which is a plus. And they do go out of their way to help.

I recently booked this restaurant for a work team get-together, which had 18 of us in total. Clare was an absolute gem and worked with me to take pre-orders ahead of time. The communication was fantastic. The staff were attentive and accommodating, despite the dining area being full of rowdy co-workers. The food was stunning with massive portions. Everyone left full with nothing but positive things to say. I would honestly go back the next time I'm in Rochester. Thank you so much for a truly lovely meal!

Zizzi - Chatham is a delightful Italian chain restaurant that specializes in serving up delicious pizzas and calzones on rustic wooden boards, alongside a variety of traditional pasta dishes. Recently, they’ve expanded their menu to include exciting new options like the Vegan Pumpkin & Sage Tortelloni, Jackfruit Italian Hot pizza, and Lentil Linguine Ragu. Guests have shared wonderful experiences celebrating special occasions at Zizzi - Chatham.
Very accommodating of food allergies as well as disabilities, they always manage to get us into a booth as easier for our daughter and are happy to accommodate the wheelchair off to the side. The food was really good, I highly recommend the truffle salami rustica pizza! The allergen information is very detailed, our daughter had a gluten free pizza with dairy free "cheese" as well as harissa chicken and pepperoni toppings. What she couldn't finish was put in a takeaway box and eaten later on that evening, she very much enjoyed it! They have a process for handling food allergies meaning a manager/supervisor has to take the order and they seem to take allergies seriously, we've been a few times and not had any bad reactions so they must take good precautions to prevent cross contamination. We will definitely be returning again.

Food was delicious. Clean and well decorated restaurant with air con. Service was great - Telling me about the Zizzi Perks and that little extra touch of humour and suggesting alternative toppings for something we wanted to exclude off a pizza. The only reason for 4 stars rather than 5 was that I felt I waited a little longer than needed for the table to be cleared between courses. But made up for by the great service once provided. Will absolutely be back again. Thank you for a lovely evening for our date night.

Bar staff were great, a gentleman was so amazing and started the experience so well but the dj organising karaoke was ready for a fight. She needs to learn the difference between someone genuinely being unaware and someone trying to cause an issue. I brought up the fact I didn't hear what she said when i didnt know a song wasnt on their list and her response was 'dont start that, i told you but you walked away' (because I didn't hear her due to the loud atmosphere, god forbid if someone is hard of hearing) and 'carry on and I will cancel everything for you for karaoke' even though I had explained the situation to her and even had to justify several times that I wasn't being assy and was just confused, which she couldn't care less. Her customer service alone ruined the night and she needs to learn to be more patient, especially when working in a pub knowing people will get drunk (even though I was sober). Her attitude from the start was horrific, she was waiting for the opportunity to use any power she had is what it felt like. I'm not one to write complaints but if she is that miserable at her job to want to start an argument with a customer, she should find a new job. I have told every uni student I know to spread the word to not come here. I know as a business that might mean nothing but she needs to learn proffesional attitude at work. Shes not on a night out, she is working a job. She was so rude from the get go, no ability to defuse any sort of situation and instead escalate it. It's disappointing as the night was going so well and her talking to me like a piece of rubbish on her shoe was so unexpected, it was so shocking it ruined the night. So for future, if someone walks away, they probably didn't hear you considering most people at the pub (which i spoke to that evening to clarify my point), just thought u were to hand over ur ticket to request karoake and leave the dj area. Please provide more customer service training for this staff member, the rest were amazing.

Came as part of a Rochester bar crawl and found we stayed far longer here than we initially anticipated as we found ourselves singing away in the karaoke section with lots of other patrons having a great time. We could have easily spent a few more hours here if the chime of midnight didn't ring, beckoning our taxi ride home. There is a garden here too if the indoor section gets a bit much, and you need to chill out

Good value for money. The burger was really nice but I'd say I've had better but those tend to be more expensive. I did however like the chips and would rather these compared to ones from other restaurants. The milkshake was not too bad but I prefer them to be thicker. It was pretty much empty around 6pm on a Saturday night but soon picked up around 8 when people started coming in for drinks. Would go again.

Bouncers very over zealous tired to argue with me over an identification(I’m 23) and didn’t believe me due to the bouncer owning a newer learner license (mine was 4 years senior) I’ve been in before and had a great time so not to sure why the bouncers tried to fight me and my friends on this (I felt extremely threatened). Normally a good bar a shame some outside staff tried to ruin our night but glad another bar was open at the time

Poco Loco is a vibrant gem that truly captures the essence of a lively dining experience. With its friendly and attentive staff, every visit feels special, whether you're enjoying a refreshing beer or coffee during the day or indulging in delicious tapas at night. The atmosphere is electric, especially when live performances light up the venue. Guests rave about their bottomless brunches, where delightful cocktails and mouthwatering dishes like nachos and burritos steal the show.
Food was amazing. Recommend the beef burrito. Staff were very kind and accommodating for my nut allergy. Look forward to coming back!

Delicious food. We had a selection of tapas. The service was on point and friendly. There was no one else eating on a bank holiday Monday which made me a little bit wary but no doubt they are busier in the evening Will come back again

Great place for gigs. Also does food but we didn't try it. Seemed busy so it must be good. Had a really fun night.

Great experience at Poco Loco. I’ve been here quite a few times for the bottomless brunch. The staff are really friendly and attentive. We were never looking around wondering if we could order another drink. Thank you chefs the food was lovely too. Dee was serving us and was very good at making sure we had everything we needed and has a very personable manner. Also complements to the other server with the red curly hair. She served us last time and I remember how nice she was. The staff here are honestly great and there is a great choice of cocktails and drinks for bottomless brunch.

Cheeky Clucker is a laid-back tavern offering a straightforward menu featuring specialty wings, chicken sandwiches, shakes, and cocktails. Visitors have raved about the incredible food and friendly staff, making it an amazing experience worth revisiting. The place has garnered regulars due to its fantastic food and great value for money. While some found certain portions slightly cold and drinks a bit pricey, the overall consensus is positive with praise for the tasty food and welcoming service.
came across the stand at Y NOT festival this weekend and could not fault the place. the food was absolutely amazing and could not have been better value for money. we quickly became regulars and visited a grand total of 10 times in 4 days… the staff were some of the nicest and friendliest people ive ever met. i have a huge amount of respect for them being able to work such long days through the various weather conditions whilst constantly smiling through the flawless work even through injuries! thank you so much for making our festival experience! i only have the highest hopes for the restaurant and hope to visit sometime😁

The food was amazing, we cannot express how flavourful the burgers and the fries were. Fresh food and a great dining area. Service was a bit slow but the staff that was in front of the house were on their own and they bossed it. Must visit and try, well worth the money. Will visit again to try the other flavours.

Me and my friend had a great time here. The food was so good and it came so fast but tasted so fresh still. I got garlic butter tenders and she got barbecue wings, it was so delicious. Boyfriend got the one tender that I couldn’t stuff in when I got home and he loved it too. The fried halloumi was so perfect, not greasy at all. The guy at the bar was very friendly and we had a waitress with brown hair, I wish I had asked for her name because she was so nice and her service was great. They had an offer so we did bottomless drinks and we enjoyed all the cocktails, so nice. My friend had finished hers and mine only had a couple sips and was basically ice, I stopped a different waitress and asked if we could get another and she gave me a kinda judgy look and told me to finish the one I had first. I would totally understand if I was taking advantage, but my friends was done, and I had only a couple sips left. And because the cocktails are made fresh they took a moment to make understandably. The waitress that mostly served us later on asked unprompted if we would like another even though we had a few sips left still, because ‘they take a minute’ so I don’t think it’s the restaurant policy. I would still definitely come back here!!
Beth T — Google review
Beautiful food! Beautiful drinks! Beautiful place! I CANNOT express how good the honey garlic and chilli soy tenders are, they come from realms beyond our comprehension. The seating is good too so you don't feel jammed in. The cocktails are nice just a bit sweet for my liking.

I'll keep it short & sweet.... Simply the best chicken I've had this side of Nashville!!!! It's what I've been waiting for years & the chicken burger & boneless thighs were off the charts good plus excellent cocktails. I would 100% recommend this place & will definitely be coming back just not every month as my waistline might not cope🤣

Wholesome food, fantastic drinks and amazing vibes. Situated in the diverse and creative location of Rochester, cheeky cluckers is the place to be. The food tastes sublime and the staff are super friendly and welcoming. The man wearing the supreme hat (I think his name was Scott) gives the place a welcoming touch up that sets the ambience perfect for a chilled catch up with amigos. Can’t wait to return and have already booked for next time.
Charlotte H — Google review
Really mixed review, was deciding between 2/3 stars. Good points; The chicken tenders were really flavoursome and fresh tasting. Probably some of the best tenders I've had outside of the US. Was reasonably priced. Mai tais were okay but a little too sweet Portion sizes were decent The bad; After an 8:30 seating we didn't receive our food until around 20 past 9 we. Did order about 10 minutes after arriving. The Mac and cheese was really pretty basic bit too watery for my liking. My partner felt the same The Cajun fries were only okay really. Staff are whizzing around like bluebottles sometimes you have to Flag them down other times theres 3 at the same table. Overall better than most take away places but for a sit down the service really wasn't there. Please note the attached pictures were only taken after we started eating so don't really reflect the portion size

If you're looking for a delightful dining experience, "Pad Thai Live" is the place to be! Often frequented for takeout, many guests have discovered that dining in elevates the experience even further. The menu boasts an array of fresh and flavorful dishes, including mouthwatering starters like dim sum and vibrant Drunken Noodles that pack a spicy punch. The Pad Thai, featuring chicken and prawn, also impresses with its authentic taste.
Lovely food at a reasonable price and really friendly staff. One of my favourite reliable places to eat out

Usually, I buy takeaway from this place but decided to dine in as was due to watch a movie shortly after. The food was very fresh and tasty. Ordered some starters, superb! Their smoothie and iced tea were also amazing and good value for money. Will dine in more now as the quality is definitely better than takeaway.
Debakins2 — Google review
This restaurant is truly a Thai restaurant. The food is good but not superb. Fish cakes are a bit too small. Drunken noodles are too strong and heavy taste. Pad Thai noodles are good but too sugary. Duck noodle soup is a bit bland. The fried rice is normal. Best of all, the staff are very kind, polite, and friendly.
Waiwaikaka H — Google review
I visited this place for the first time and was really disappointed. A starter and one main dish were served, but after waiting 25/30 minutes there was still no sign of the other two mains. I even asked one of the servers while she was attending another table, and she said she’d check — but she never came back to update us. Eventually, I went to the desk, and by then the dish we had was already cold. The lady at the counter told me, “Why not eat it, why let it get cold?” I explained that we came to eat together, not separately. She then checked the receipt and even came over to our table to see if the food had been served, which made me feel very uncomfortable — almost as if I was being accused of lying. In the end, she asked if I still wanted the food, but by then I had lost patience and asked for a refund. I left the one main dish on the table and walked out. I wouldn’t go back, as I was very disappointed with the way we were treated.

Very nice food. We had Dim sum and then Drunken Noodles (spicy) and Pad Thai (chicken and prawn). The food was very fresh. Dim sum was tasty and the dipping sauce was great. Drunken Noodles were great- bags of flavour. Chicken was tasty, vegetables were cooked really well - good flavour and a bit of char but still crunchy. Pad Thai was decent too, All very fresh. Staff were very pleasant too. Nice.

Nestled on Rochester's historic high street, the Jolly Knight is a beloved spot for both locals and visitors alike, especially when it comes to catching major sporting events. This lively venue offers an array of refreshing drinks like the Deep End Rainbow and Long Island Iced Tea, perfect for unwinding after a long day. While many rave about its vibrant atmosphere—especially during Big Jon's Karaoke nights on Fridays and Saturdays—the space can feel a bit cramped compared to nearby establishments.
Graet food, friendly staff! Always have a smile on there face and happy to serve you! It's one of our go to places! Keep up the good work 😊

Very nice Spanish restaurant in Rochester. Food was alright, could be better though if compared to authentic Spanish restaurants in big cities like London and Manchester. Service was great and overall ambiance was nice.
Ahmed F — Google review
Just had this chilli with nachos & onion rings, I have to I absolutely enjoyed this meal. The inside of this establishment has a main bar which is a cold feeling to it. But there is a second room which has a nice view of the castle.
Michael P — Google review
I've never eaten here, so I can't rate the food. I love this place.... most of the time. Friday's and Saturday nights we have Big Jon's Karaoke, which is always popular. The kind of night with Karaoke depends on who's on had to run the karaoke. Jon himself is always the best. There is one that can be rude and unprofessional, but I'll say no more. The biggest problem is that the venue is so small. It is tiny compared to Ye Arrow, which is attached to this place. Because karaoke nights are so popular, it can get packed, which makes it a bit of a nightmare to move around or get to the bar to be served. My most frustrating issue is the drunk people who keep bumping their bums into the table you're at and getting in the way of those who are trying to sing.

Pisspoor pub grub - ordered a gammon and chips, got served ice cold ham and soggy 'orrible chips, by a lass with a sourpuss face. Avoid.
Tim O — Google review
Came here after dinner on a Wednesday. They had the netball game on two of the TVs. It was quiet which was good as we wanted to hear our conversation. The coasters were sticking to the table and I didn't want to put my elbow on it. They share a bathroom with 2 other pubs. So people were coming in/out the shared passageway. I checked out the other pubs and one of them has an outdoor patio with a view of the castle which was packed.

This pubs website advertises “historic charm” which I know doesn’t extend to one bar staff in particular!! Awful service. I was there this Saturday late afternoon/early evening with friends in which we chose to drink the craft ale they had on draught. Within our first couple of sips we all knew that it didn’t taste right so I took the pints back to the bar and apologised to the lady behind the bar that unfortunately the beer didn’t taste right to which I received a very sarcastic response of “well maybe that’s how it tastes”? As I tried to politely explain that we are experienced drinkers and one of us has had this particular beer before so knows how it tastes I was rudely interrupted and abruptly asked “well what do you want”?!! I ordered different pints to which again extremely sarcastically I was asked “will these taste ok for you”?? The pints were poured and heavily placed on the bar without one word of apology to myself or anything!! Beyond rude….so won’t be going there ever again 😏😠

This is a large green space. You can do multiple things here if you want. Walk, run, play sports, picnic to name a few. Parking is very limited. Park in bays and pay at ticket machine or try and find a space where you are restricted to 2 hours max with no return for 1 hour.

It's s large open space some parts are left natural and uncut throughout summer and most is kept tidy and cut a few times of the year. Large area is also used for football pitches and is popular for park runs and football training at weekend. It includes a large monument to those who are remembered as war heroes.

A great day out supporting our boys and girls.

Waterfront Bar & Restaurant offers a delightful experience, whether it's for afternoon tea, a romantic meal in one of their cozy domes, or just a casual breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The staff is attentive and goes above and beyond to ensure that guests have an exceptional time. The outside pods provide a warm and snug setting even on chilly days. Guests rave about the quality of the food and the excellent service provided by the friendly staff.
What an amazing experience! Treated my mum to afternoon tea and we were blown away. The quality of the food, sweet and savoury, that was on offer is outstanding! From start to finish we were so well looked after, staff were attentive and couldn’t do enough, to ensure our experience was 5*. The outside pods are especially cute, very cosy and so warm. I was concerned, being a chilly November day we may have needed blankets but we were so toasty and content. Please support the team and pay a visit, so much on offer from steak nights to Sunday lunch, it would be a damn shame to loose such an asset to Medway, let’s face it there’s not much to shout about in this area, so when you find an absolute gem such as Tan & Tass’s offerings we must sing their praises from the highest! Great work team, we will certainly be back, thank you.

Booked a table at 6:00pm and then was told the kitchen was closed at 6:00pm but they said they would still serve us. We ordered our food I asked for a medium rare steak which came out to be well done so they made it again and it came out fine. Apart from that the food was mediocre. I take it that it’s not really a proper restaurant but the photos online looked nothing like it did when we got there. Lovely staff though!

My first experience was disappointing and I won't be returning. I was really looking forward to the breakfast, but the quality of the food was poor. There was oil all over the plate, and the hash browns were soggy. The only redeeming aspect was the sausage, but the scrambled eggs lacked flavor. And taste like microwave As a chef myself, I expected much better from this dish. It was just not up to par

The pub, as a whole, is a good visit if you're going for a pint and a chat. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere. The only let down is the pool table and the area around it. The table is 40 years old, and one of the cushions is completely dead of bounce, we were told this by the league players. The other thing is, you cannot play many shots with a full cue. Many times, I had to unscrew my cue to not hit the walls. Even then, it is still not short enough to play the shot. Sort it out, Landlord, you have good Division One teams visiting who are not being able to play the matches properly. It's such a shame 🎱😪🎱😪

Went last night and it was ok, food was ok and cocktails were nice. However I did notice they never checked who paid for alcoholic cocktails and who paid for non alcoholic ones. I paid £45 for alcoholic ones yet if I had paid £35 for non alcoholic ones and still ordered the alcohol ones the staff would never have known as they never checked. My advice to people order non alcohol save yourself a tenner and order alcohol.

Have used the coach for many moons back when Jeff run it and it was a lively fun pub, then when Meg and Gary had it was very family friendly. The new owners have ruined such a beautiful pub. You can't take kids in there as there glasses littered all around the garden the play area is like a building site. The manager Amanda is rude and cannot be bothered to lift her head out of her phone let alone smile totally unapproachable. We attended Saturday for an oasis tribute and is was dismal. Lazy staff, glasses tossed around garden was a wreck. It seems the coach is on its way put unless your a druggie or wany a fight. Such a shame. Was always so well looked after.

Totally loved this place. The food was fresh and hot. The customer service was brilliant and the pub itself was warm and welcoming. The prices for the meals are not the cheapest but we'll worth it. I will definitely be going back. Dogs are also welcome

Good food, service was quick. Good amount on the roast chicken dinner, Yorkshire Pudding was a good size and crispy, good slice of stuffing. The steak pie filling was ok with no fat on the meat.

Very nice refurbishment the pub looks amazing Staff are friendly and helpful. There is no lunch menu on a Saturday, main meals and deserts only however, the menu is nice and still offers regular dishes such as burgers, lasagne, fish and chips etc. There are some nice sharer options available. Take away boxes are available if you're unable to finish the generous portions.

First time back since the refurb. Beautiful decor and furniture Very classy. The Sunday roast was Amazing. Couldn’t manage dessert although was tempted! Staff were very attentive and friendly. Especially Sue. Lovely lady. Would definitely recommend.

Completely surprised, far better than the standard Greene King pubs.. everything freshly refurbished both inside and out, felt cosy and not like some bog standard pub. Food came promptly and was well spiced / flavoured.. the grazing board and garlic prawns were particularly good. There were some locals drinking at the bar, which is a good sign. The garden had lots of shade from parasols etc and a decent play park for children

A quick drop-in to have a quiet drink and check out the refurbishment. The light bites were excellent - hot and cooked perfectly. Bar and table staff very welcoming and working hard in the new environment. I ordered my drink at the bar, then used the app to order from the kitchen. The new menu seems varied and exciting, with a good selection of vegetarian and vegan options. A good choice of non-alcoholic drinks available. I had Guinness 0% which is surprisingly good. New decor is bright and attractive. Been coming to this pub since I was a child. Great to see it still thriving in such a pretty location. Well done Hannah, Charlie and Team. Good Luck

Always liked The Bell, although hadn’t eaten in there for a long time until today, food was good nothing special but nice. Has had a nice refurb, friendly staff although had issues with some things not being available (not an issue). I wouldn’t bother with ice cream, I think they changed the ice cream scoop for a tea spoon during the refurb We were also charged £2.35 for a soda water and lime (75p a pint in Spoons) but I never queried it at the time!
Luke F — Google review
We thought we would try out the revamped Bell but left disappointed, we found a table easily in the garden area , downloaded the app to order our food but it said we would need to order at the bar , when I went to the bar I was told they were not taking any more orders as they were behind with previous orders, the menu was pretty basic so I found this as a bit of a surprise, we left straight away and visited a nearby garden centre and enjoyed a lovely Italian meal instead

Recently revamped, it boasts a bright and inviting ambiance with fresh decor and comfortable seating options. Patrons can enjoy delicious food like their tasty cheeseburger topped chips while soaking in the charming surroundings enhanced by fairy lights and outdoor blankets.
Visited here on Friday night was a fairly quiet evening, nice when you want a quiet drink and makes a change for the cricks normally very busy and loud. We ordered food as felt hungry when other food was coming out, ordered cheese burger topped chips they were good. Love coming to this pub

A couple years ago I came here and was really disappointed with the state of the chairs- it was dark, dingy and tired. Today I visited and I’m so impressed with the changes; it’s bright, smells much better, clean, freshly decorated with blankets for sitting outside, fairy lights, new seats, a pleasure to be here now as it’s really classy now. Huge thank you to Lyndsay for taking good care of me this lunchtime. Well done for turning this place around it was tired and needed care which has now been given!!

Spotted this large pub in Rainham many times from passing rail-replacement buses. Decided to pop in today when in town for a rare visit, most serendipitous. Pub is even larger inside than it appears, with extensive dining area to the rear. Who knew. Looked to be some sort of garden area as well, but it was closed. Large bar to the left with decent selection of lagers. Amstel was the choice. Amstel for the people. Choice of a couple of gaming machines - they have the lesser games on offer here - Holy Moly, Lucky Mushrooms etc. Still, not too bad and I ended up slightly up on the Temple of Osiris clone. Pub has several screens showing football, which seemed to draw the locals like moths unto flame. A decent crowd though, not rowdy. Overall, not bad for a chain pub. Didn’t try the food on this occasion, but it’s a Greene King pub so you know the scare - I imagine there’s some sort of pie and chips, some burgers etc. It’ll be decent and consistent, reasonably priced. Location is good and pub sits adjacent to church, opposite the road that goes down to the station. I’d certainly come in here if I lived in town. I can’t see why I’d ever want to live in Rainham, but I guess you can never rule anything out, so it is good to have options.

Came in today at lunch time and I can honestly say I left very very satisfied. I ordered the Salt and pepper chilli chicken, portion sizes were very generous and food was delicious. My girlfriend ordered the chicken shawarma flat bread and again was delicious. We also ordered one of the new specials the Mac and cheese loaded fries and they were just as delicious. Overall an amazing experience with amazing staff! Special shoutout to Lou who was nothing but helpful and nothing was too much bother and even gave us some recommendations! Will definitely be returning.

Popped in the first time in years and ordered some food, first off a problem with the bill when charged first for soda water at 90p a glass which in fairness was taken off but 2 glasses of water came off and the bill dropped £6.50 so not sure how that's worked out, ordered a gammon steak couldn't cut it with a normal knife so got a steak knife which wasn't much better very very dry and burnt in places, lasagne aswell come out with the garlic bread which we had too ask for again the lasagne was black all round onee edge aswell and the sauce was no exsistent,we complained and in fairness was offered a desert or drink so atleast we left in an ok mood

Popped in this evening for some food, was greeted by Matt and Owen from behind the bar... They were both very knowledgeable about the food menu and helped me accordingly. Food was great and so was the service, both Matt and Owen were on the ball throughout my visit, cleaning tables and ensuring the place looked spotless! Will definitely be returning soon.

Came here for a quick drink. This was our first visit. Ended up smelling the food and then seeing it!! Fatal!! Ended up staying for more drinks and a Sunday roast which was amazing and I don’t say that lightly as I’m quite fussy with roasts but the chef Anton surpassed himself. It was gorgeous. Highly recommend. Will definitely be coming back for food and drinks! Kassy is an absolute asset to The Cricketers Rainham. She is so friendly, professional, helpful and went above and beyond to cater to us. Thank you so much for a lovely evening

We recently moved to Rochester and this fantastic pub is right on our doorstep and what a lovely pub it is too. Fabulous decor, friendly, attentive staff and a great range beers. We are really looking forward to the warmer months so we can enjoy the fabulous garden.

Went here after work for a couple of beers a few weeks ago. I try to use the pubs around rochester that aren't in the high street as if you don't use them you lose them. It's not a bad place, the staff are friendly enough and the Guiness was fine. There were 3 dogs in the bar all barking at each other which isn't my favourite thing, but I get some pubs really go for the dog friendly atmosphere to attract custom. The garden is big and I could see in the peak of the summer it being a nice place to be. For me, I think though the bar is too short to have as many seats at the bar, I think ordered a beer over somebody's shoulder is a bit awkward at the best of times, but the locals that sit at the bar really don't like it. I'd say it could do with 2 less seats at the bar to allow customers to order. All in all, not bad, not great. I will go back in the summer and go to an event and update my review.
T R — Google review
I have not ordered food so just gave the 5 stars. The staff are friendly, varied drinks and the most important thing is that the atmosphere was so lovely. The garden is completely chilled out and on a summers evening, its really nice

Why have I never been in here before? I popped as I was parched and was greeted by the ever so friendly Kieran. I enjoyed a tonic in the garden and revived enough to walk the rest of the way home. I was super impressed by the garden and the variety of plants. I loved the internal decoration and the toilets were immaculate. Thanks for being so welcoming.

The Casino Rooms Nightclub is a popular spot for students, offering lively weekend party nights with live acts and regular DJ sets. The venue has received mixed reviews, but many visitors have found it to be a pleasant surprise. Some guests have noted the inconvenience of waiting in the rain without cover and the cash-only coat room, but once inside, they enjoyed the great vibe and preferred the top floor over the bottom floor.
Had an absolutely fantastic night at the casino rooms (as always!) 80’s night hosted by Martin Kemp. Great DJ and entertainer, he really knows how to get the crowd going (and the ladies😉) played all the 80’s faves. The casino rooms is a banging venue with a banging atmosphere. Friendly, helpful staff and the price of the drinks are really reasonable too, had a great time. Looking forward to another session with Trevor Nelson in a few weeks time, that one’s gonna be seriously good!

Brilliant new gig venue. Sound and lighting were great, and the venue was friendly. Hopefully, they will be able to bring some more great bands to Kent. The only issue I can see is that the venue is not very accessible for people with disabilities. But it is a very old building

I recently went to the Martin Kemp 80’s night and from start to finish I cannot recommend this night enough. The music was fantastic and varied, even before Martin Kemp arrived. The videos and photos on screen added to the atmosphere and everyone was in such a happy and friendly mood. Atmosphere was fantastic and we just danced all night. Can’t wait for the next one!

Went for a bongos bingo night Bar staff were great I had concerns with security, when I raised a safety issue - an unconscious women (through drink) It took them 20 minutes to respond and even then that was after she had fallen on the floor twice and then had proceeded to vomit and horrendous amount in the toilets causing them to be out of service They then asked her to leave but when challenged by other people gave up and left it for another 15 minutes before finally doing due diligence

Had an amazing night at the martin kemp event recently. It's the third one I have been too and highly recommend it. Great spacious venue, pleasant staff, amazing atmosphere and sound system and great drink prices. Looking forward to the next event I'm attending there in a few weeks for Trevor Nelson!
Emmie K — Google review
Came for the charity boxing event that a friend was participating in. The staff were top rate and very professional, and the night flowed really well. Drinks are expensive for what you get over £4 for a small bottle of Heineken, but captive audience so it's expected. The burgers on offer were surprisingly tasty, could have gone back for seconds but they had stopped service by that point. I managed to get some very good views of the ring, and even a seat at one point. It did get very hot inside, so I imagine when it's a nightclub it's even hotter. Smoking area out the back for those who want to chill out a bit and maybe get some cool air. Parking can be a bit tricky as it gets full very quickly, so you may need to walk some way if you are driving here. There are rail links nearby so the train may be the best option to get here if you're not local.

We have returned to Rochester after some time away working and visited this little gem today. A wonderful selection of real ales, a cosy atmosphere, really good wines and some great people watching looking out on Rochester High Street! Vodka 2 for £5 so good value Music was a mix of everything. Set of dance, then a set of cheesy, then grime, then old school. So depends on personal choice of that. Went a bit up and down but a good night out. Lots of space to dance. Bouncers friendly and approachable.
Danni B — Google review
Warning should come with this place; would not advise attending this bar if you value your time. Not only did a round of drinks for 4 cost over £40, but after simply going outside to the smoking area (as said was fine by the bouncer) we were told we could not enter without a wristband! No wristband was given to us and the fact they had signed me in upon entry appeared to mean nothing! We were not allowed to collect the drinks we payed for, instead my friend had to bring them all out only for the bouncer to drain them down the drain, essentially robbing us of our money. Staff were INCREDIBLY rude (especially blonde woman) and I feel disgusted in how we were treated. I called bar to complain and was given no reason why we were treated so poorly and denied access to our drinks at our table. To further this having tables with no chairs and not maintaining social distancing between tables is completely inappropriate in the current situation and I’d be surprised if the bar doesn’t get closed down for this reason alone. Breaking COVID regulations. In conclusion avoid this bar with all costs, unless you want to be treated poorly by a clearly uneducated and just plain rude woman. Bar staff very nice though do not extend my complaint to them.
