My friend and I had Bottomless Brunch at The Alex today and we were so impressed with the food and service. Thank you so much to Couch and Kirsz who made sure our drinks didn’t run out. The choices were great and we did sample a few! The food was amazing and we left with very full tummies - compliments to the chef! We will most definitely be coming back for more. A great way to begin the weekend 😊

Came for a quick drink, first visit, located a short walk off the main street between the train station and the pier. Service was very friendly and helpful. Drinks were nice and reasonably priced. The venue itself is brilliant, great size, outside is large with covered seating and open seating as well. I can imagine it gets very busy in the evenings but we went just after opening time on a Tuesday so it was very quiet. Well worth a visit.

Had an amazing time at The Alex! The bottomless brunch was absolutely worth it—fantastic selection of drinks that kept flowing, and the food was delicious. Couch our server was great he always made sure we had drinks and asked if we were okay. Perfect server couldn’t ask for better. Food was great, James and Cam in the kitchen, really tasty and good value. Had 2 lots of the kilo of wings really good. Couch corrected an issue on the menu item we had and was all good and sorted.

Great venue. Atmosphere is fantastic and the staff make you feel really welcome. Got talking to Couch, one of the managers, and he was able to recommend some great cocktails and a few nibbles on the side. Will definitely come back.

Popped on for food on Sunday late morning/lunchtime, managed to get a table without booking and just beat the rush, super friendly staff, lovely food and coffee was so good! It was also cool how all the staff where able to be themselves in terms of clothing, tattoos, etc, I thought it made a big difference and staff seemed relaxed in their work and more friendly rather than talking like scripted robots, nice one!

First time here with my partner, we popped in randomly and were blown away! The food was absolutely amazing, full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Service was just as impressive, friendly, fast, and made us feel truly welcome. A lucky find we’ll definitely return to!

Extensive vegan menu. Bit noisy upstairs with loud music but you can head downstairs into the darker, quieter and more comfortable area. It's also right next to the kitchen so you get your grub quicker.

The breakfast was lovely and the service was excellent I had the trifle and old mont cider definitely come again 🙂

Was particularly keen to try the Molo Lounge particularly as there is a whole Gluten Free menu that my wife could choose from. We both chose from the Tapas menu. What can one say. Clean plates all round. Reasonably priced, friendly staff. So glad we found this place. Give it a try if you haven't, you really won't be disappointed. We will be back.

Such a vibe! We went to this one on a Sunday evening and it was such a wonderful unexpected find. There was live music, everyone was dancing, while enjoying a drink watching the sunset. For a minute it didn't feel like the UK. It was busy but the team were so welcoming and found a way to find us a table as quickly as possible. We went for a light snack and ended up having the Sunday roast. Best Sunday roast I've ever had which is crazy to say. 10/10 Recommend!

I really liked the atmosphere of this place. 🏠We were at a table outside, which was even better. 🍋The waiter who served us was very clever and kind. 🌊This place is definitely suitable for those who love romantic evenings by the sea. 🐚Also, despite the full board, the staff did their job great. Went for breakfast and what a start to a boozy pub crawl in Old Leigh. It was a great meal. A very good full English. The server Ella was fantastic. A credit to the company. We shall return.

Love this place. Food is fantastic, its dog friendly and its on the sea - PERFECT!! it actually makes you want to move to Leigh on sea to have it as your local.

The entrance down the stairs is quite dark, and with sunshine and photochromic glasses I was nearly blind! Short menu, with mostly cold choices. Starter was a pate with Melba toast. Not the easiest to eat as so dark. Main was cold rare beef with salad and a superb baked potato. The potato was superbly cooked, absolutely perfect. The salad with it was delicious but again hard to see. The beef was nice and mostly rare, though the added 6cms of string was a little texture surprise. Nice staff as I say, only negative was the darkness issue.

This is such a traditional, atmospheric Restuarant. Our host, Fay, looked after us so well. I had the steak and kidney pie with jacket potato, fabulous! Of course I started with white port, very nice and good measure. Sawdust on the floor is a great touch. Comprehensive wine list. Would thoroughly recommend a visit to this cosy Restuarant 👍

The Pipe of Port is honestly a hidden gem in Southend. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but when you go downstairs underground it’s a cove full of wines and knowledgeable staff that will talk to you about the history of the wine. It’s fantastic. The food is amazing and I’ll definitely be heading back there again. They are most definitely wine buffs. I would highly recommend heading to the Pipe of Port for an evening dinner.

Really nice food. Visited on a recommendation and glad I did. Colleagues have said this is the best place when on an overnight in the area and I can see why they say it. Nice food, great staff, good menu, reasonable prices. If you like wine there is literally a wine recommendation against every food and in every direction you look.

An atmospheric basement restaurant and wine bar with excellent food and obviously a great drinks selection. Really efficient and friendly staff - our waiter Max was brilliant. Rigorous Covid precautions in place and tables have ample space around them.

It’s fine for a cafe style pub meal. The service was mostly good and the food was well cooked, though it’s very much a basic pub venue. What really lets it down is the well worn and tired interior, as everything has clearly seen better days. The choice of non alcoholic beers was limited, with just one non-alcoholic bottled beer available, which was fine but nothing special. Half of the pub was closed off, and to make matters worse, when we arrived (it was mostly empty) our table had to be cleared of two (non dining) gentlemen who were clearly unhappy about being moved. They sat opposite us, grumbling and staring until they eventually left. Not a place we’d go back to.

I was sitting in the non smoking area smoking. I was offered to move ti the smoking area by a very friendly gentleman with a beard. I loved his approach. Just goes to show, the problem isn’t the problem, it’s our attitude about the problem. The problem was fixed with exactly the right attitude from both parties. The bar staff are also very friendly. I recommend this place highly.

Attended an event at there basement venue. Staff were amazing, however any event in there lower floors needs to be improved. There is no air con or natural air flow. No disabled access anywhere. I'm surprised the council has approved this premise.

This was such a lovely place and the staff were absolutely amazing, they were incredibly sympathetic and helpful to me and my friends when something was occurring with some strangers down the street and was so patient, kind and understanding, especially this one worker who was so incredibly helpful, we couldn’t thank him enough. The bathrooms were so clean and the place genuinely overall looked really nice. The staff, atmosphere, place in general are all everything you could ever ask for from a hotel.

I only discovered the Royal Hotel because I was looking for a pub near the pier. I was amazed by this one - never seen such a well stocked bar, and the atmosphere was hilarious. I had a glass of wine sitting outside & enjoyed the whole ambience very much.

Horrible stinky fish smell wafts from this establishment all day long. Our office is located above, and their extraction system leaks fish fumes into the building. Come on guys, get it fixed????!!!! It's horrible and disgusting

I visited here one sunny week day on a walk along the coast. We stopped for a pint and a sandwich. Great location, large indoor seating, sea facing terrace and picnic benches on the street side. Leffe bière served on tap. Good selection of sandwiches and friendly staff.

Excellent service Excellent price Just the small fish and chips. The fish size is smaller than small. I've never ever seen one that size. Polite note for management. People are willing to pay more for a decent size. I wonder what the standard size fish and chips would have been - would it be a small size that is offered elsewhere. You're really cheap so making a change to portion size and costing accordingly would make people happier and make you guys more money too.

Stayed here the night & loved every minute. The pub is huge with 2 bars on the ground floor & accomodation accessed at the far end. Room was huge with a nice shower/bathroom & a comfy bed. Decor reflected the history of the building as an old Royal Mail sorting office. Food was great. Got a really good deal on a small mixed grill & Stella for £9.00. Bargain. Parking 100 yards away was £9.30 for 24 hours. What more could you want???

Second time staying here with my daughter. Great location only 5 minutes to the beach. Good size rooms and friendly staff. Food is always served quickly and always hot.

Considering in ALL other places its £5+ a pint Wetherspoon delivers on a solid product at a reasonable price. If you follow offers you can regularly end up with £2-3 beers that are decent. Same for food. Massive burger with a pint =£12. It's not apex or anything but you get a lot for your money and service is excellent. Staff are apologising for something taking time when to me its pretty fast. Only downside of it being so cheap is you do get some 'interesting' characters 😂

Decent pub that is let down by the bar staff not knowing how to manage the bar. There is little clue as to which customer is next extra & then one of the staff members was verbally frustrated when customers were discussing who was next...even though I'd been stood at the bar longer. The bar staff in question frustratingly said "I dont care who's next, just tell me" which is completely unacceptable. Understand bar work can be difficult & frustrating but all bar staff encountered here look & sound miserable. Aside from that there is a good atmosphere as in most Wetherspoons & a decent selection of drinks

Stopped here on a whim, was actually in the area doing the herd in the city elephant trail and was passing by very hungry. We sat outside in one of the pods in the front, lots of choice on the menu, ordered for all 5 of us, including all having milkshakes, and came under £50! There's a summer offer where children eat for £1.50 which is amazing. Staff very friendly, food yummy and filling, I had a medium all day breakfast with 1 added extra, and the bread that came with it was so thick 😋 everyone enjoyed a piece of that. If I'm in the area again, I will be returning. Thanks so much for a pleasant experience.

Had lunch here today, we ordered ploughman’s, chicken strips and chips. My father and his wife also ordered food. Their food come out a good 25 minutes before us and we got frustrated waiting but after speaking with the manager the issue was resolved efficiently and was happy to have spoken to him. We enjoyed our food and can’t fault the service

I stopped for lunch after finding the last elephant from the art trail in the pub's front garden. I was a visitor to the area to do the trail. It was a fabulous place for lunch.. such good value and tasty food!

Wonderful pub lovely staff always got great events and offers on went easter Sunday had an Easter egg hunt for kids they went all out was very generous with it had a face painter who for my money (face painter was free) is best one ever been to will have to book her myself for party's had breakfast for me and two kids for under £15 with the offers they had on lovely atmosphere will be going back can't recommend enough

Our local. Attend the monthly quiz night where a group of us all eat before the quiz. Gets very busy. Food choice is fairly limited but all options are usually excellent. On normal day or evening visits, like most pubs, amount of people there varies. Had a few Sunday lunches which also are very good.

Excellent polite service but unfortunately the food looked better than it tasted. The chicken wings were Luke warm & the steak pie had very tough pastry.

Service and food were really good the hunters chicken burger was brilliant. The mrs liked the roast chicken and the lil dude enjoyed the goujons. Really great pub, their Sunday roasts are also pretty epic.

We visited to exchange for my husband’s birthday, service was very attentive, my husband even received a birthday card which made it extra special, glad we chose to dine in the exchange, the food was at a high standard and portion sizes was very generous we all left stuffed. Very happy family thank you we will be returning soon.

Such a lovely pub with a very friendly attitude and some seriously great cask ales. Price wise more than competitive and to be honest no fault to be found. Plus the kitchen is open a couple hours a day. Very happy to recommend

Great place to meet friends for a drink and a chat, the staff are friendly and always remember your name and your drink. Clare the owner and her husband are great hosts, it is always a pleasure to visit The Old Trout. Drinks selection is extensive and well priced unfortunately I have not eaten here as yet to rate the food but I am told by friends that the food is very good and reasonably priced. Great food and lovely staff. I have been drinking here once a week (I'm diabetic so go easy on booze) for over 10 years and have never been disappointed by the beer, the food or atmosphere. Busy in evenings but quietish at lunchtime which makes it ideal for a group lunch or session.

Southend airport. How do I describe southend airport? It’s local. It’s small. It’s quick. You will be walking in the front doors to the departure lounge in 10 ish minutes or less. There’s high-tech scanners, and for such a small airport it really makes it count. Good luck finding some budget grub to go with your budget easyjet holiday, though. The cafe, the shop, and the pub are MASSIVELY overpriced. The food on the plane is legitimately cheaper than the airport food. The toilets are fine, not the cleanest but fine. Therapy dogs are pretty cool!

Very quiet. Easy place to fly from although I was collecting someone who flew from Malta..cafe was closed.

So much quicker and easier than Stanstead or Gatwick. If you live in the south of Essex , its a brilliant choice. It took us a fraction of the time to get through check in and security than it has at bigger airports. No shuttle transfers, nice restaurant and a short walk to the gate. Highly recommended.

For flights with budget airlines, Southend Airport is a good alternative to Heathrow, Gatwick, and Stansted airports. Very basic with limited food choices, however toilets are clean, there's a good information desk, and transport connection provided by Greater Anglia is excellent. The trip to Stratford is 45 minutes, to Central London is 55 minutes; train frequency on Monday-Saturday is 20 minutes, and on Sunday every 30 minutes.

Very quick through security. The longest part was the easyJet bagdrop where most flights go through. This was a 25 min queue. Don't buy anything in the restaurant though. It takes ages to arrive and gates close early/quick so it's not worth spending the £24 on a burger and handful of fries

I flew to Venice from here about 5 years ago and it was so quick. Parking is expensive though. Frequent trains. They dont have that many commercial flights but there are always lot of small planes landing, departing and sometimes doing touch and gos. Great place to watch planes and the big jets get quite close to you, and have to turn at the end of the runway which is cool.

The absolute best pub in Southend hands down.From service to music,atmosphere and clientele not a single thing you can get wrong in here.Absolutely recommend this pub to anyone visiting Southend or just a hesitant local!

The staff were very engaging and funny Guiness was very good and the staff could pour it correctly The location has a "biker" feel about it but was quite entertaining and did not feel unwelcome The signs have a "adult" theme about them which i loved but may not be everyone's cup of tea!

Had a few beers in here, really cold and well priced. Few games of pool, good quality pool table and cues. I went on a weekday at lunch time.

Had a fantastic day. Staff were very friendly, even though it was busy. Thanks to the staff for the help with my Nan too.

High quality, local beers. Well maintained pipes. Great service and affordable. Older crowd means atmosphere can be little muted but sometimes that’s what you want.

I really liked it in here. Doesn't look much from the outside as it is essentially a converted shop, but once inside it's a cosy space with great local beers brewed in Essex and an interesting non-standard snack selection. Felt like a really good natured locals establishment, which is fine by me.

Love this place. Not my local but the choice is great, prices reasonable and love the updated decor. If you like your ales, this is a must! As long as you open to more than standard lagers, this is a place to go, if only for the retro tabletop video game consol they have.

Introduced to this bar by a friend, a lovely quaint place lovely staff and Cider to die for, I had a mixture of ciders which is called the “the rack” excellent.

More of these pubs are needed. They serve a wide range of drinks that are very good quality. As an ale drinker I stick to the ale but friends gave had the wines and ciders and all said how nice they were. The atmosphere is really good aswell. Well worth a visit.

Very disappointed by how we were treated. My friends and I visited The Broker for a quiet birthday evening — seven of us, all respectful and calm. Most of the group had drinks, and we came to enjoy the live music that was advertised. I was approached by a staff member (Elaine) and told I couldn’t sit there unless I had a drink in front of me. I said I wasn’t thirsty, but I’d be happy to get a glass of water to comply. When I asked for tap water at the bar, I was told I could only buy bottled water — even though I had been told by the same staff member that a glass of water would be fine. I politely declined and returned to my table. Moments later, Elaine returned and told me I had to leave. When I asked why, she said “this isn’t a library” and insisted I couldn’t sit there without buying something. I explained again I wasn’t being difficult, and I was with paying customers. We were then all asked to leave — despite being respectful and quiet the whole time. Oddly enough, our group was then refunded for drinks that had already been mostly consumed — which made no sense if the issue was money or “sitting for free.” The entire situation felt like an overreaction, and quite honestly, like we were being profiled for being a younger group. I’ve never been treated like this in any other pub — and I’ll never return. If you’re a young person just trying to have a chilled night with your mates, I’d recommend going somewhere more welcoming.

My friends and I attended a quiz night in the Broker and we had an amazing time there. The drinks and the snacks were quite nice

Always made to feel very welcome in the Broker. The staff are all super friendly and efficient. It's a good atmosphere on a Saturday night with free live music. I am not aware of them serving food but there are the usual crisps, nuts etc and a good selection of Ales. One thing to mention is that the landlord is very strict regarding behaviour in the pub, I am yet to ever see any trouble in the Broker and hence it's a nice place for a family drink.

This is my friends local, and he goes there most days. The prices are really good here, the beer is always excellent and very reasonably priced. Good selection of Whisky too. There is occasionally a live musician and most of the time there is a sports game on the TV. The broker has a great communal atmosphere, and everyone knows my friend so we often sit down with people I've never met. Great atmosphere, Great beer.

I’ve been twice now and the staff is great and the changing beer selection is fantastic. My partner and I have have enjoyed ourselves in the the comfortable atmosphere with a few flights to sample the great selections they offered. Just a fab little hangout, GREAT selection of beers, ales and other intoxicating beverages you probably never seen, that will having you pondering… “is there too much choice?”the answer is no! But coming here, is a yes…I Would recommend to anyone wanting to meet up with friends, or even make new acquaintances…

This little hidden bar is located just off the High Street and they serve a unique selection of tap brews The bar host was quite knowledgeable and gave us generous samples to try. The cherry ale was quite unique. We settled for a beer and cider.

Didn't have the bear today so went to a non dog friendly pub. Not a lot of people in, so had the freedom of choice. Asked about a couple of hazys. Was told one was £8 a pint. I said that's expensive. They said that's craft. I suppose. She told me that people get the 2/3 glass more as it's less of a hit. Which makes sense. Because I'm an OG. I did the 8 dollar pint. Is decent. Sat down and saw my friends art on the wall. Would I beer here again? I'll be surprised if I don't.

This place is the worst. Rubbish music played by failed buskers who will never do anything with their lives but play in venues like this and ruin a lot of meals. I came here with my wife and we are both never coming back as long as we live. Which won't be long judging by the state of the food they served us.

My first time here with my wife and a couple of friends. Had an absolutey fantastic evening. People knocking the singers are ridiculous. The standard was incredibly good. Jack and his brother were really good as we're the guest singers. I like that it was so improvised with people just joining in to play percussion or saxophone. Anyone knocking this is ridiculous, you're not at Wembley arena paying £180 a ticket. Some of these acts were absolutely top notch. One thing I really liked was the acoustics, the drums despite being in a small room never drowned out the vocals as often happens. Whoever set this up did a great job as many gigs are just too loud you can't hear the vocals. Can't wait to go back

Hired the downstairs bar and function room for a 60th party and we had a great time. Staff were brilliant which helps make the night and was pleasantly surprised with the great buffet the chef made for us. Highly recommended.

Super chill environment, me and my friend come here during college breaks sometimes cuz the pizza is great! They also offer us a nice selection of non alcoholic drinks, staff are so friendly too, definitely recommend visiting :)

Great customer service from Abbie B and the team. Quickly cleared a table when I turned up with no reservation. Menus provided promptly, food orded and quick to arrive. Staff professional, attentive and cheerful at all times. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Nice view of the runway was the icing on the cake so to speak. In fact, I had ice cream not icing on my cake for dessert!!! Will use this restaurant again!!!

I've been coming here for years and the service and food quality keeps changing. They have a new menu which looks great but I was so disappointed. I ordered a club sandwich and this must have been the worse sandwich I've ever had for this price. It was a joke. I wouldn't have paid more than £5 for it and this was £13. You guys need to get your act together, this is poor when there are so any other great places around.

Great rooftop restaurant very comfi seats over looking at the airport and the planes taking off and landing through their large windows. We had a lovely meal for our grandparents 69th anniversary there the menu was varied from comfort food to more grastro options all very well prepared and presented and of good quality. The team was attentive and friendly the manager Simon runs a smooth operations there we very must enjoyed our evening and will be back. Thank you.

Went for a Sunday roast. Ordered Beef. The lovely waitress offered me a steak knife before the dinner arrived and I now understand why, the beef was inedible, like a thick piece of old leather. The potatoes were possibly Aunt Bessie’s maybe a cheaper version and totally flavourless, advertised as being cooked with Rosemary and Thyme, they definitely weren’t. Asked for the beef to be replaced with Pork Belly. The barman brought the replacement pork on a saucer. It was basically a lump of fat and such a small portion. I didn’t even bother to try it. Told the barman the food was diabolical and the Chef shouldn’t have allowed that to leave the kitchen. We said we would only pay for our drinks. The barman didn’t apologise infact said nothing. The waitress was lovely and done her job very well. Whilst we finished our drink we saw the Chef just glaring at us so hope he could lip read as I let him know exactly what I thought of his food. He was also on his mobile phone hope he regularly cleans his hands. So a warning to anyone thinking of eating there. DONT.

Had rib eye steak which was not nice at all. Asked for medium and it came out rare. The steak itself was full of sinew... Breakfast on the other hand was good and this is the saving grace for the restaurant

On 20/09/25. When I tried to go outside with my drink, the bouncer stopped me (a small young guy) and said drinks weren’t allowed outside. To this I obliged, only to find but 5 minutes later the bouncer going outside with his friends all holding their drinks. When I brought this up to him, he just laughed. Ultimately, if you’re going to enforce a rule, you need to follow it. ALSO, the bar is incredibly overcrowded and this isn’t at all monitored by the security, it’s really uncomfortable and I’m staggered people are that bothered to see mediocre covers in a bar with an incredibly poor drinks selection. I’d recommend not bothering and just going to the better bar next door.

Excellent location, there is ample parking space and the staff were very friendly. We were served by Charlotte and Callum, everyone was very nice. The food is good, reasonable portions and well priced.

We was waiting around 10 minutes to be seated and when the Holy Trinity meal come out Meant to get half a rotisserie chicken and only a quarter to come out the short beef rib literally had two bites on it apparently they cut it into quarters they sent it back and then when it come back out with an other quarter of chicken now on the same plate And it was supposed to come with Sage and onion season fries they were plain they missed out my coleslaw as well I'm when I confronted the staff about it they said sorry it's a new menu but surely the chef should know what they're cooking. Absolutely disgusting would not come again.

When this first opened again as an establishment it was good. However, each time I go back here it seems to have progressively gotten worse. With the recent visit we found a fly in the chips which came on the same plate as the burger. We were offered new portion of chips. The salad bowls are not always clean either. The food itself is not good value or worth it unless you have go during an offer period or have a discount code. The quality of food does not justify the full prices they charge on the menu.

Not bad, staff were great and food is what you'd expect for the price. However, don't go for the fish tacos, fish fingers in plain tortillas with a bit of mixed salad. Bit of a joke 🤣

Table 227- 09/08/2025 Ordered salmon , it was super dry no seasoning , with burned lemon wedge, which I send it back to kitchen. Ordered halumi skewer this dish must cost 3£ it’s over priced for what you get, you get 2 halumi slices and massive 3 onions they not even grilled , and massive grilled peppers with seeds in them. Absolutely disappointed, look like chefs only can reheat food like chips , hollandaise sauce , and pita bread. Don’t need much brain in there. Definitely last time me being there , please avoid this nasty place

Very welcoming staff, food and venue met all expectations. Arrived early but staff made effort to rearrange tables so we could be seated straight away. Waitress was very helpful and friendly, knew without checking what wasn't available and made recommendations for the less decisive ones among us. She also made time to chat and put us at ease despite difficulties with our children, really helped reduce the stress and calm the kids down. Could not fault the food, will visit again.

We booked a cocktail masterclass it was such a great experience making our own cocktails, great fun, the hosts Francis & Marcin were brilliant. Lovely food afterwards as well good value, great food & such a brilliant evening

First time visited this bar and thoroughly loved it! Clean, warm with an easy ambience with staff who were efficient and friendly. This a large venue, in the Slug & Lettuce style and with an upstairs bar too. Only minor niggle we had in the entire evening is that food menus weren't on the table, but when we asked for them they were brought over immediately. Food was of generous proportions (veggie burger picture attached)and reasonably priced; we didn't know when we ordered, but it was 50% food prices in January, so extra chuffed. I will be going back.

We were welcomed in by the nice Barman and showed to our seat. We were given enough time to peruse the menu. The waiting staff were very helpful with my enquiry about the pie. We were served in a timely fashion and the food was great. The “best pie” at £20 was a bit steep but with 40% off made it less painful to order. The pie was great and tasty, but still not worth £20. The veg that accompanied the pie were nice and hot so it was a great meal for the lower price.

We had a booking for a party of seven. One of our party is a vegan with severe dairy and nut allergies. Another one of our party also has a restricted diet. The menu and staff are great at handling dietary and allergy requirements. The kids menu is brilliant and the food and service were sublime. When one of our party explained she couldn’t eat the peas that came with the gammon, the kitchen gave her an extra egg instead! When our vegan with the dairy allergy ordered the apple and cherry crumble, the staff substituted the custard it comes with for cherry compote! All this without us asking, which was great customer service. Two of our party were from America and visiting the UK for the first time. They loved the food and the dining experience. The air conditioning was also an unexpected bonus during the heatwave. Thanks for making our visit and meal an excellent experience.

I went with my partner and, her 20 year old, 6 ft 4 grandson. It was a very disappointing experience for a number of reasons: 1. The table we were directed to was dirty, covered in glasses and the floor under the table was littered with food fragments. it was only cleaned AFTER our drinks were delivered. 2. We ordered via the app which was fine. But when our drinks arrived the waiter queried the age of the grandson as he appeared to be under 25. Again, fine. He had left his ID at home so the waiter declined him his shandy, again, fine. He had a coke instead. The problem came after the meal when I asked if the difference in price between the Shandy and the coke (£2,35) had been refunded to my card. I was then informed that it was not company policy to refund in such circumstances. This really annoyed me as I feel it was a totally unreasonable attitude. I accept that they were within their right to refuse to serve the drink but I don't see why I had to pay for a drink that was not served. 3. To cap it off the Beef and Masala pie I tried to order was out of stock, so I had a very mediocre burger. I will NEVER go to any Marston pub again, clearly their idea of customer service leaves EVERYTHING to be desired. This review has also been posted on Tripadvisor

It was very chilly inside. I wished I'd worn something warmer. I loved being able to order via the qr code but I did not see the 10% off for drinks until too late. The food, apart from the pie inside, was luke warm. The dessert was hot though.

They seemed a bit short staffed tbh but the people who served us did a good job We did have to wait over 45 minutes for our main meal which I thought was a bit too long. The Pie was awesome, apart from the veg with the pie meal as the veg was so hard I didn’t even eat it as it felt raw. And not sure why the pie sits on top of the mash potatoes, just strange as you have to try to lift it off to pour the gravy over. My husband had the mixed grill he really enjoyed that. The puddings were delicious

Used the code to order from the table. Drinks came promptly followed by food approx 20 mins later. All served with skill and politeness. My grandsons had pizza, my daughter and I had baguettes. Delicious 😋 and very worthy of the cost. All in all I will definitely be visiting again.

Popped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Relatively quiet. Service was good and the staff seemed friendly. The restaurant seemed a little grubby (many tables left unclean). Food was tasty, with decent portion sizes. Service wasn’t the quickest, took about 35-40 minutes for our food. Would definitely come back but could do a little better.

Went last week Sunday after calling to check if they had roast dinners. 10 minutes later they took my order and then told us another 10 minutes later that they only had burgers left. No roasts and no food from the grill. Went back last Sunday, asked if they had roasts left. Were assured they had and after getting the baby out of the car, they then told us they have no tables left. Couldn't sit in the bar area either as football was on.

Visited on a Monday at about 4pm so wasn’t very busy. Staff were very friendly and the food was good. Only negative was the poor service with our deserts, we ordered 3 via the app, 2 got delivered and the third was forgotten, I had to go up to the bar to chase it. Was soon rectified and staff were apologetic. Suitable for families and reasonably priced. Plenty of parking.

The pizza was not good. Seems like bread with cheese very toast.The salmon tasted rotten and not fresh. The waiter gave us another dish, the pork, that was not so bad. The mussels were very good and tasted great. The desert was nice.

A charming Italian round the corner from the Cliffs. Charismatic waiting staff, quick service and the food is delicious. Pictured is the bruschetta for starter, lasagna and pasta pomodoro for the mains, and profiteroles/chocolate pudding for dessert. Would highly recommend!!!

Had a really nice meal at Piccolo the other night. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a warm smile from a beautiful & lovely waitress, which straight away made the place feel welcoming. The vibe inside is cosy and friendly, you can tell it’s a spot people enjoy coming back to. The food was genuinely good. Pizzas were solid, with that proper fresh taste, and there’s a really decent variety on the menu so there’s something for everyone. Service was smooth and easy going, no fuss, just nice people who clearly care. All in all, a great evening. Would definitely recommend if you’re in Southend and fancy some good food in a chilled atmosphere.

The atmosphere for the night was quite calm, so for us on that occasion it suited us perfectly. There was a ramp if required, but I relied on my friend to help me. It was reasonably priced for what we had, and we stayed for one drink - they were closing. They have special nights throughout the upcoming months, so it's definitely worth checking out.

We had our engagement party at The Mews last weekend and we were completely blown away at how perfect it was. The team are so friendly and attentive, the food was delicious and the vibe was great! We wanted a laid back, cosy gathering (up to 50 people) with nibbles and drinks. They installed our own bar upstairs and our own DJ (who had many compliments). The management and team were so friendly and easy to work with, they put up our decorations perfectly so when we arrived everything was ready to go. I really can't recommend The Mews enough for a party, it's affordable and they are just the best. Thank you so much for making our party so perfect!

The food is really good. The vast majority of it is probably home made / made by one of the chefs they have. All the staff are friendly and helpful and very accommodating for dogs in the downstairs area. Had the Friday “curry and a pint” offer and it was excellent all round. Would definitely go again, thanks very much.

This was a fantastic option for Sunday lunch in the upstairs dining room. Staff all friendly and attentive, as they were in the bar area downstairs too. Really enjoyed the food. We went for main and dessert and everything was just perfect. Nice ambiance. Great food. couldn't really fault it!

We live locally and often come here for dinner. We’re a family of 3 and we can happily share a big sharing platter. Nice relaxed atmosphere, children made very welcome and the staff are attentive. Definitely recommend! So much so, we went today for Father’s Day. My Dad and Husband’s belly’s were nicely full and the smiles on their faces as they sat in the garden made it a lovely day ♥️

All of the food was cooked very well and tasted very nice. Very reasonable priced. I personally ordered the mixed grilled XL skillet. The gammon for me was the highlight, it was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. We were in a group of 11. Food came out near enough at the same time. Service was very good.

Was here with my husband and kids for Father’s Day and he had the best time. The food was lovely. The staff were extremely happy to help and very kind even though it was very busy. I’ve been coming to this pub for 20+ years and have never had a complaint. Keep up the good work! :)

Came in for a spot of lunch on a Sunday. We called ahead to book but was told no need. It was too hot to sit comfortably outside, but we managed to secure a table inside by the window with a nice breeze. We ordered a sharing platter which was absolutely delightful! We also got a jug of Pina colada which was very tasty. Would 100% recommend eating here!

This is by far our favourite restaurant and bar. We love absolutely everything about Slug & Lettuce, Southend and always look forward to coming here. We have been here so many times now and we are so glad that we found it. Crystal, Luke and Ethan are extremely friendly and welcoming and nothing is ever too much trouble. The different menus have a big selection of delicious food for meat eaters, Vegetarians like myself and Vegans like my friend. They have lots of good deals and special events all of the time like the lunchtime deal which is £8.00 and is delicious and filling and includes a drink. There is also a loyalty app called MIXR which regularly gives free drinks and loyalty points for money off. There is also a very nice relaxed atmosphere and I had a wonderful time on my 50th birthday get together and Christmas get together and meeting up with friends and family making great memories throughout the year.

We celebrated at 50th birthday having a bottomless brunch. Just want to add that our server was a lovely lady named Crystal. She was excellent. She made sure our needs were met and continued to bring us drinks. She went out of her way to make our celebration special especially for the birthday girl. She is an excellent addition to the team. I would highly recommend her to be your server and will certainly ask for her on my next visit. Excellent value, good food, lots of cocktails. Brilliant afternoon.

We came for bottomless brunch and ended up falling in love with a man called Steve. Now, technically his badge said “Ethan,” but when someone spends hours keeping you wet, satisfied, and calling out for more… you rename him. Steve just felt right. Steve kept us constantly topped up… and not just our glasses. The man had stamina like we’ve never seen; no matter how many times we asked for it, he always came quickly and with a smile. He knew exactly when we were ready for another round and wasn’t afraid to give it to us hard and fast. The way he worked the table — attentive, firm when he needed to be, gentle when it counted — left us wondering if brunch was even supposed to feel this good. By the end, we were flushed, satisfied, and whispering “thank you, Steve” like he’d just shown us a whole new world of bottomless. If you want a brunch where you’ll be kept wet, satisfied, and begging for just one more… ask for Steve. 🍾🍑🔥

Me and a few friends came here for a bottomless brunch and it was amazing! The atmosphere is so lively and enjoyable and the food is incredible. Also we had incredible service shout out to our server Lydia, she did the most amazing job so lovely and made our experience fun, she kept on top of our drinks and ensured everything was okay! Had an amazing time at Slug & Lettuce Southend for bottomless brunch with my friends! The service was fantastic cocktails were served quickly, they were tasty, and the staff never let our glasses stay empty for long. Our server was absolutely brilliant, checking in often and making sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious, the price was great, and the whole atmosphere made it easy to have a laugh with the bar staff while they still kept everything really professional. Not so sure about such a high rating. Maybe as some reviews say, the quality is variable whether or not a main chef is here? I came looking at the photos really wanted to order the huge hot seafood platter (with crab legs and all) but they said they only have it as a special from time to time. Maybe the main chef wasn't here. Food: We ordered fresh Oysters all were opened dirtily and not clean. Hot mix (starter) of seafood was good, but portion was tiny. The soft shell crab burger was the only acceptable one. No signs of kimchi in it though although it was mentioned in the menu. Service: Friendly staff, however to be frank they all didn't seem to work here for long, not sure how to navigate on the busy restaurant floor. Having to count every time they serve a table to check the numbers where to deliver the food. Ordered a drink that didn't come for a long time, however they gave me another one on service (very nice of them but that wasn't what I ordered..) Food was incredibly, incredibly slow. Missed one of our orders but by then it was way too late (waited for over 1.5h) Atmosphere: best because it was right by the sea.

Oh my goodness, I had an absolutely fantastic time at The Seafood Shack this Saturday evening! It was a bit hectic, but the kitchen was working tirelessly and managed to get all our food out quickly. The staff were so friendly and cheerful, and they made sure to greet each customer with a warm smile. The food was absolutely delicious, and the owners were so charming and attentive. They even made sure to give each customer a friendly “bice word.” It’s always a treat to come here and enjoy their amazing food. I highly recommend it!

While the atmosphere and service were both lovely, the food was a bit of a letdown overall. The seafood mix was slightly sandy, which took away from the enjoyment, and the scallops—though promising—were overpowered by the bacon, which felt unnecessary and masked their natural flavour. The sweet and sour king prawns were okay, but the sauce was overly thick with corn starch, reminiscent of a lower-end takeaway rather than a refined seafood dish. That said, not everything disappointed— the oysters with dressing, calamari, and king prawn katsu were all very enjoyable. Overall, it was an alright experience, but with a few improvements in the kitchen, it could definitely live up to its reputation.

A great little seafood place with good range of seafood. I started with Oysters (£3.25 each) then had the Hot mixed selection from the 'small plates' section (£15).

Fantastic restaurant and bar! I had the best fish burger here. The calamari was also so soft and tender. They have a great selection of on-tap draft beers. The interior is lovely, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Highly recommended!

Waterside pub by the sea. Interesting vintage atmosphere and extensive outdoor seating area. The fish and chips is excellent as are their pies. Good selection of beers and spirits.

Our favourite pub in Old Leigh. Lots of character and friendly staff. Every time we visit we always have such a nice time, the food is brilliant with lots of menu choice and good quality. Highly recommend to anyone visiting or in the area!

We popped in just for a quick drink to go with our seafood. It was very busy so service was a little slow but still very good and moved along quickly.

It was ok however I think a little light entertainment is needed. Like 3 Mexican singers playing the guitar and perhaps a cross dressing comedian. This would boost trade immensely. Also someone walking around selling balloons 🎈.

Met friends here last Sunday, beautiful quaint pub with lots of outside space, we all had lovely meals inside, steak pie a winner !! Then sat outside, by the estuary, with live music. Worth a visit, you won’t be disappointed.

A billet is a living quarters for soldiers. As a former schoolboy cadet I really should've carried on my military career. Damn, I could have lived here.

We had a delicious meal here and blown away by the service we received from Joe he anticipated how in need of water we were as its an extra hot day.. So nice to be met with nice staff that really made us feel welcome and the food was top notch I had the sea bass and the whole meal was 10/10 will definitely be back.. Joe keep being amazing 👌

We will NEVER order from Salsa again. The customer service is appalling. After ordering for delivery from their website, it never arrived. We paid almost £70 for our order last night. We contacted the restaurant and they couldn't figure out what was going on. Then they called back and said we had to contact Uber who they use for delivery. It is not up to the customer to track everything down. When we ordered we were not even given a confirmation. We didn't receive a receipt, absolutely nothing. Uber has given the runaround for the last 24 hours because there is no order in their app, because it was done through Salsa's website. We want our money back! **Update - Uber has stopped responding and refuse to even give us a contact number. They said basically that they can't help us because it wasn't done through their app, it was done through Salsa's website, and told us we had to contact the merchant when the merchant sent us to Uber in the first place. Neither Salsa nor Uber is taking responsibility, they're just pocketing the £70 and thinking we should just forget about it. We've put in a complaint about Uber with Trading Standards, and we're considering reporting Salsa as well. **Response to Salsa - You're disappointed? We contacted you, you told us to go to Uber and there was basically nothing you could do. You gave us an order number and left us to deal with it. After over 24 hours of back and forth with Uber, we get told to go back to the you, after already being told by you that it's Uber's problem. We've been told by both you and Uber to go to each other. We were never told to contact you by email. Seems you're more worried about the review than the customer.

I’ve been to this restaurant many times over the past 12 months and the food and service has always been amazing. Great food and the staff are very professional indeed! I could literally eat here every day no problem at all. Well done salsa! Keep the quality up! 5 stars!

We were attracted by the glowing reviews for this place but I'd say it was just OK. We stopped by for a small bite to eat so got a few small tapas. Chicken skewers, Chicken and Chorizo, Spicy Chips, Caesar salad and Calamari. The food tasted good, but there was something off about the calamari which was squidgy and every bite had a weird bit of resistance to it like an elastic band. The drinks were excellent. I had a Stella from draught which tasted crisp and fresh. Others in our group had sangria and house red which were also nice. I appreciate we came around lunch time but it was dark and drab inside, and service was a little on the slow side. The highlight for me was the great tasting beer, but I don't think the calamari sat well with us as we all had dodgy tummies by the evening, which is unfortunate and is the reason for the 3 stars.

I recently visited Monti in Southend-on-Sea with my partner and a friend, and it was a truly delightful experience from start to finish. The moment we walked in, the owners, Sabrina and Enrico, recognized us immediately and greeted us with such warmth and friendliness that it really made us feel welcome and valued. We started our evening at the bar, where we enjoyed three drinks expertly crafted by Sabrina. It’s clear she is a professional bartender; each drink was superbly made, perfectly balanced, and delicious. The quality and care put into the cocktails really stood out. Beyond the fantastic drinks, the atmosphere at Monti was lovely, inviting, relaxed, and vibrant without being overwhelming. The management’s genuine hospitality shines through, creating a welcoming environment that makes you want to return. In summary, Monti offers not only excellent drinks but also a warm, friendly experience thanks to Sabrina and Enrico’s wonderful management. Stopped in tonight for a dinner. We’re seen and sat down right away. Owner/manager was really friendly and welcoming. We had muscles to start - delicious. Two pizzas/“Pinsas” as they call them - both really good too. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Terrible quality and completely misses the mark on authentic Italian flavours. I’ve eaten at many genuine Italian restaurants, and this place doesn’t come close. The food was bland, flavourless, and clearly adjusted for a very generic palate, lacking the richness, depth, and character true Italian dishes are known for. It’s obvious they don’t know how to cook proper Italian food. A real disservice to the cuisine.

A huge thank you to Sabrina for accommodating us this evening, the outside wasn’t initially set up when we arrived without a booking, but she very kindly went out her way to arrange us a lovely al fresco table to enjoy our dinner (as we had originally come hoping to sit outside where it was a sunny evening). Beautiful Margo even joined us which just topped the evening off! Thank you to all the lovely staff at Monti’s!

We stopped in for lunch today at Monti Ristorante and had a wonderful experience. I started with the calamari, which was light, crispy, and perfectly cooked, while my wife enjoyed the meatballs – rich, hearty, and full of flavour. For mains, I had the carne miste pizza, which was delicious and generously topped, and my wife had the sea bass, which was beautifully cooked and really fresh. The service was warm and friendly throughout, and we rounded things off with two lovely espressos. A great spot for a quality meal – highly recommended!

Came for a quick drink. Located on the main road through Leigh-on-Sea, close to the beach. Little beer garden at the rear and some seats at the side.Nice choice of drinks at reasonable prices,a couple of local ales ,the wine didn't taste great unfortunately. Service was good.

Good pub about fifteen minutes walk from Leigh-on-Sea Railway Station. Six cask beers - and one cider - on handpump when we visited. Lots of outdoor seating some of it covered. We popped in for a drink before returning to London on the train having walked the section of the England Coastal Path between Shoeburyness and Leigh-on-Sea.

I wanted a light snack with my sister so we got a battered sausage and a portion of fish cake (2 pieces in 1 portion). The lady who served us was so friendly and the food was served with little waiting time. The fish cake was so perfectly crispy and the inside tasted with real fish unlike other fish cakes where its mostly fillers like potato. The battered sausage was amazing. Will come back again!

Today we bought ice cream on the way to the beach.The seller, a dark-skinned guy with braids, communicated very politely. I asked him for the price of ice cream, paid with card, and unfortunately did not check the terminal that was facing his way, but instead of 3.80, he charged me 6.10 pounds(( When we were returning from the beach, we bought the same ice cream for our daughter again and a cute girl, the seller, charged 3.80 pounds, handed over the terminal so it faced our way, where we could see how much we had to pay. The ice cream was delicious but.....I recommend checking your receipt at this cafe immediately.

Absolutely can’t walk past this friendly and consistent real ale pub. The Crouch Vale Brewers Gold is always fresh and tastes like nectar after the walk from Shoebury. Cracking pub. Haven’t eaten here, so can’t score the food.

Quite nice here not too noisy or crowded on a weekday, the food is nicely cooked better than other usual pub food around which is nice.

Food was amazing, steak and chilli con carne were especially delicious, all the staff were amazing but in particular our server David was very helpful and friendly 5* recommend

What a great find! Wife and I were looking for somewhere to eat & found this lovely pub close to the Palace Theatre where we going that evening. The pub is very quaint and clean, the staff were really great especially Bo our server & Jenny at the bar so helpful and friendly! Food was terrific, nice and hot, tasty, nicely presented too beer was good too. Next time we visit the Theatre we will 100% be back, Thanks so much, Steve & Julie

New comers to the trading rooms and we have not been disappointed! The food has been excellent both times we have eaten, lots to choose from and something for everyone. The pub has a great atmosphere and lovely staff. The live bands have been great, everyone up dancing having a great time!

Wow, popped in for a quiet drink with my wife after a nice meal at a local restaurant. The bar staff decided to ignore us, as they wandered off and served someone else while in the middle of serving us, then another member of staff waved the card machine at me as our drinks arrived and given I was stood there holding my card out I paid. It turned out I paid for someone else's round, which given the way they waved the machine at me was hardly surprising. No real drama, these things happen, until the bar manager came over and started to have a go at us. Like really lay into me. I offered to take cash or whatever was easiest to balance the till, but that made him more angry. We went and sat down with our drinks and the bar manager came over and gave me the difference back in cash, then started to lay into us again and told us to drink up and leave. Utterly bizarre, so of course we left immediately, as the bar manager had made it abundantly clear that we weren't welcome. He also started to tell me all about what a bad day he'd had and how we were all he needed right now. Wow?! So be warned if you fancy popping in to this bar for a nice evening, I've never been treated so appallingly for no reason. Best avoided. Shame, as a friend of ours turned up with his band as we were leaving and it would have been lovely to have stayed and listened to their set for a bit.

Staff are exceptionally accommodating and friendly, helps that I'm a regular probably, food is always delicious and of a high quality, not to mention the roast dinner on Sunday. Was by far the best meal here, go for a chef's platter on a Sunday, its 2nd to none! Would have liked the sound on for football but people were eating I guess...

Had a vegan garden burger. It was delicious and fresh tasting - really nice chips too. Staff were so lovely and very helpful.

We’ve been coming here for years and it’s always been a great pub. The food is consistently well cooked and really tasty – the new menu is especially good. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, with plenty of time for a chat, which makes a big difference. Prices have gone up a little, but the quality makes it well worth it. There’s also a pool table, darts, and great entertainment at the weekends, so there’s always something going on. A proper pub with a great atmosphere!

Been here many times for mid week lunch, but today went for Sunday roast, which was not good. Frozen vegetables, and tasted microwaved. I was going to book Christmas dinner there, but not now. Other food I've had there has been lovely.

First time I've been here, great pub, very friendly staff, and locals. UPDATE Have had the all day breakfast absolutely huge, very enjoyable.. There's an interesting little corner, with a bit of history about BAF at southend airport, plus some old black and white images of other aircraft.

Went for lunch with some friends last Thursday. Thought I would try something different from my usual choice, and decided to have jacket potato with Mushrooms and blue cheese. When served it didn't look good. Very small potatoes a few tined Mushrooms and the Blue cheese turned out to be a very small amount of sauce. Thought I'd give it a go after asking for more sauce. The potato was quite brown inside, but still Thought I'd not say anything. After a few mouthfuls the rest of the potato was rock hard no way could I get a knife through it. My guess is it had been through the microwave several times and was dried out. When I pointed this out to the lady who served us, it was me who said sorry I was not able to eat it, but got no apology from her as she just took the plate away and said no need to pay for it, and said she would let the chef know. ( How can a chef not know how to cook a jacket potato) She didn't even ask if I'd liked to order anything else. I have never been anywhere and not paid for a meal. I was the only one in my group who ordered this and there meals were ok. I was also made to feel by that waiter it was my fault the potato in my meal was inedible. I made a great effort going out as I'd broken 2 bones in my foot, the week before, and was in pain while sitting there. My friends were about to order dessert, and I had no other option but leave them there, go home and make a sandwich.

Not a bad pub. Good offers on food and drink. We went on a football night so quite loud. Quieter once the match finished. Comfortable seating and nice surroundings. Good choice of food and drink. Good place for groups, not so intimate or cosy for couples. Plenty of families in the pub.

Last minute booking request on Saturday night, that Ben sorted for me and fitted us in for Sunday lunch, accompanied by The Ron Spack Trio, jazz band. Ben is a very nice guy, his team supportive around him and the food and drinks were very good. Ben took time to speak with us, getting to know his customers and shared the forthcoming menu, which looks very nice and that we will be back for. We we're a family group that recently eat at this lovely restaurant. From our intal arrival to receiving our food was second to none. The young lad whom greeted us & the manger that made himself known to us. What personally thought was a lovely touch, was when the manager came over to the table & introduced himself with a hand shake to our family member that booked the table. I'm a veteran & I felt humbled when the manger git me another drink & thank me for service, something that I always say, it's was my job. The food was of the highest quality for sure, from the pasta to the steak we all had. Cooked to perfection, when we settled the bill, the other added touch was the brandy & baileys to finish our night off. I'd most definitely recommend this restaurant & for us, not being from this area, will definitely be back when we visit. Please our thanks to your team & to the chefs. Remember what I said to you, I never give a 10 out of 10 as I believe we're always striving for the 10. From us, it's definitely a 10 out of 10. Looking forward to our next visit.

We had our wedding reception here on 10th September 2025, to say we were blown away would be an understatement. The service, care and attention given by Ben and his amazing team was faultless and made our day extra special. They went over and above in every detail and we cannot thank them enough. The food was outstanding, you rarely get such high quality in mass catering events like this, but all guests were absolutely raving about their 3 courses. Would strongly recommend this venue, whether just for a meal out or any event. Will definitely be returning. Big love to Ben and the team.

I went along to the annual fund raising car show, taking my 25 year old MX5 to show. The event was very popular and the pub heaving👍. There was a BBQ and live band in the pub garden. The car show was taking place on a large field to the rear of the pub. It looks to be a very popular community pub in the village of Little Wakering. Will go again next year.

Visited for lunch with friends. Everyone was very happy with food choices and the beer was good. Service was very good, and we’d all return again. Only downside was some excessive dog barking, but this was down to the owner rather than the pub.

Great friendly pub with home cooked wholesome food (really recommend their chips!), dog friendly. Food portions and quality has always been really good. Highly recommend for anyone nearby with their dogs

Came for a group booking and was greeted with a rather rude and grumpy lady claiming we can’t just walk in with a large booking. Explained we hadn’t and had actually booked. Confusion ensued when the booking we made was increased by us 3 days prior but the team member hadn’t recorded correctly so we had to manoeuvre tables ourselves to accommodate our booking. The food was mostly decent considering they had 1 chef but the service provided by the girls front of house was inhospitable, unfriendly and unwelcoming. I believe a lot of hospitality training is required to make this place good again. I wasn’t surprised the place was empty. This place used to be good. Customers want to go to their local to feel welcome not met with a sense of ‘nuisance’. I hope this place improves the service.

Afternoon lunch ~ brilliant service. The beef burger was gorgeous! The chips were ok - very big but nice and hot ~ all homemade by the look of them including the burger. We had Nachos ~ the actual nachos were lovely but had huge blobs sour sauce and guacamole which i like but not that much and not enough cheese. Good waitress service. Lovely little pub and not bad for afternoon lunch 🍔

Walking through the interior to our table the pub had a pleasant decor, service from the staff was welcoming & courteous at all times. 2 Aged Sirloin of Beef 2 Roast Pork Loin Warm Double Chocolate Brownie Sticky Toffee Pudding Overall food quality and ambience of the pub was very good, a good venue for a family get together.

Went here for first time overall the staff and place was good however the food we ordered was not great, we ordered sharing nachos to begin with which looked good on a plate but tasted of nothing, very bland in taste but the main issue was they was stale when delivered to table I thought is not mention anything and just let it be then the mains turned up and onion rings was literally just batter no actual onion inside, we also ordered the garlic flatbread and that was rock hard when brought out and chewy very difficult to eat, the burgers was ok but overall very overpriced definitely won't be returning to this place due to quality of food and lackluster menu choice for food

Fab Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Gravy was very rich and a little sweet with perfect pink beef. Roasties not crisps but difficult considering large volume of customers.

Food has gone downhill - the wings were mostly stodgy batter, ended up leaving half of them. For £8 for a starter I’d have expected better. The haddock and chips were not good either, chips were not hot, and the fish batter was also average. Great for drinks but the food has definitely seen a steady decline as it has become busier

The fish and chips were nice however the mushy peas were cold and had to be sent back. The Caesar salad with salmon ( cold not hot as per menu and an extra £7) was mainly a bowl of lettuce and croutons, there were a few small flakes of salmon and a smaller than a teaspoon sprinkling of Parmesan cheese, not even proper shavings of cheese. The sea bream was a very small dish ,with a very minimal portion of samphire . tasted nice but very poor value for money . Very disappointed . Seems like they were definitely trying to cut costs but still charging high prices . Have been there before for a roast dinner which was lovely but will not be returning after this experience

Good service, polite staff. Four of us dining; one had fish finger sandwiches that was just ‘OK’ , my friend and me both had burger & chips and agreed we’ve had better from McDonalds. You get one burger in a soggy bun with chips in a steel tube for about £19:00. My wife had beef & ale pie that she said was good. The pub itself looks great, ample parking but the food we had was not great.

We have eaten a few times at the Bellhouse and always enjoyed our meal. However, we visited last night as it was a birthday treat. I had the Hunters chicken. Unfortunately it was lukewarm and a bit cold on the edges. I dithered about sending it back, which I should have done. My other half had the fish and chips which was mainly batter. Bit disappointed with the quality of the meals. The desserts were good and were probably the best part of the meal. Staff were friendly.

Went to the casino at the weekend with some friends, we only went for drinks but it was awful. Hardly anyone in there, no atmosphere and the door kept asking people to keep the noise down. No one was loud, rude or over the top. One small group walked in and someone in the group said it was his birthday happily and he got told to keep it down. He wasn’t even loud. It was just awful and soulless with the doorman executing their power for no reason at all! It was dull and boring and never will I return as you couldn’t speak without fear of being told to be quiet!

I’ll start from service &!simply say; polite, thoughtful & well presented. Drinks were flowing and they did their upmost to commit to what we wanted, the Decor and atmosphere was absolutely satisfying our food arrived at a reasonable time. Food was essentially delicious, between two different pallets we are satisfied

I attended here for the first time in a while and got pleasantly greeted as usual. However, when I then entered I was greeted with new electronic terminals as opposed to the old ones I had previously been used to. These terminals are far more confusing than the old ones and I also believe don't link to as many live tables or if they do these were hard to find. Also they appear to only start at 25p chips now and not the previous 10p minimum limit. This is general was not too much of an issue for me and played anyway. Winning some, losing some as you do but always pressing repeat bet and then adding a couple of chips on numbers I was already covering. This is when the poor customer service comes in. So a number I was playing on comes in but I don't get paid, why not because my chips aren't on that number..why are they not there it's a repeat bet every spin for the previous 30minutes or so..So I get some one over to look. They say it must be a "click and drag" feature as the money that was on the winning number has miraculously moved to a losing number just as it comes in. Also, the manager that came over said himself he was unsure on these new machines as he was still getting used to them himself. I prove it's not a click and drag feature but because of this I lost out on about £60 from the winning number meaning I didn't have enough in the terminal to place a repeat bet which then coincidentally started winning, so the way I play I would have been up about £100 on my original stake money if not more but all I got offered was a complimentary voucher valid for 48hrs, but as I was leaving anyway I didn't take it. I wasn't actually told how much it would be but apparently it is on my account should I return in the next 48hrs and hope it will be at least £100 but don't expect it to be over £10. Extremely disappointed.

Had an amazing evening at Southend Grosvenor Casino, made even better by the incredible service from Rahul, who served as both our waiter and bartender. From the moment we arrived, Rahul was welcoming, attentive, and clearly passionate about delivering a top-tier experience. His cocktail recommendations were spot-on—my mojito was perfectly balanced and refreshing. Later, when he served us in the dining area, he impressed again with his professionalism and great menu suggestions. Even with a busy crowd, Rahul remained friendly, focused, and genuinely made us feel looked after. He remembered our drink preferences when we returned to the bar, which was a lovely personal touch. The casino itself was lively, clean, and had a great atmosphere, but Rahul’s outstanding service is what truly made the night memorable. We’ll definitely be returning—and hoping to be served by Rahul again!

There’s a nice restaurant, food is good. There’s a Bar, moderately priced, cocktail included. Lots of game slots, there’s a live Roulette and Blackjack tables. Its a great casino in all.

Popped in for a quick bite after doing some shopping in the area. Service was very friendly and attentive for a quick Friday afternoon! I had the sharing nachos as a meal to myself - nice covering of cheese and generous portion of sour cream, salsa, and guacamole! Parents went for baguette / sandwich which both looked really nice! Pinched some of their chips and they were really good, perfect crisp and soft middle! Definitely would come back!

Didn't try the food. What a lovely pub, everyone had their own teeth, no screaming heard no swearing heard smiles all round, decent beer and prices, oh nice music too. Pleasant bar staff and clean bogs. What more do you need?

Solid, pretty, not terribly exciting Shepherd Neame pub in the centre of Westcliff-on-Sea (Southend) with a typical cask selection of the company's ales. Most of these have been around for decades, and I chose my favourite, Bishop's Finger ESB. A solid option if you're into darker ales. The pub has generous and fairly comfortable seating inside, as well as two smallish outside seating areas on either side of the building. Good community atmosphere, friendly staff. If you're into traditional ales, not craft beers, this is a good option in this small town. It's within walking distance of the train station.

Me and my Fiance visited here last night before a show at The Pavillion. The staff were so friendly and the food was amazing. I had Hallumi Fajitas and my Fiance had rump steak. It was absolutely stunning food and nothing was to much hassle. The lady who served us was so friendly. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area. And will be back when we visit again.

Food was tasty particularly cauliflower popcorn but bar service was painful. Wasn't that busy but had to wait a long time, gin served in small glass with no room for a mixer so had to ask for it to be changed plus ask for ice etc, understand it is more of a real ale place but need to cater for all

Full disclosure - prior to Legra Tap opening I’d long been a fan of Black Circus Food who run the kitchen, and of LOS Brewery and it’s beers. The two joining forces to open a pub is a stroke of genius. Great selection of beers, and there’s always some limited edition ones too. The menu changes up frequently - but some staples are must-haves. The tacos are amazing, loaded fries, and the Mac and cheese. Great vibe, quick table service too.

Been to this place a good few times. Always found it lacks a welcoming atmosphere, but it's local so I kept going there 🤷🏻‍♂️ But now I've had enough of the so called owner continually chatting to his mates rather that serve customers. He's been vague on prices of drinks despite the fact he runs the place, and the food I've experienced has been second rate at best. Overall poorly run, shocking lack of focus on customer service and no real vibe or atmosphere. Won't be bothering with this joke of place again - you've had enough chances!!

Nice place to sit outdoors. The staff is very friendly. They make you feel welcome to Southend. I had a really nice hamburger a pint for a tenner. Nice family friendly atmosphere

Absolutely incredible place to sit down have a drink and a bite to eat. The food is impeccable and so is the customer service. I have never met such friendly staff in such a nice cafe, the view as well is just perfect. Honestly I would recommend anyone to go here even if it is just for a drink I would recommend it as it is worth every penny! Also how can you hate a cafe that plays soft jazz in the background!

We had a great meal here the other day and it was lovely to see such a range of seafood on the menu. The decor was eclectic and cute and our server, right away, was great at making recommendations. The food overall was very good too and we especially liked the calamari, goat cheese salad and seafood pasta. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is that my friend ordered the crab risotto, and about 25 minutes later, we were told there wasn't any crab available so they had to change their order. Otherwise, everything was good and I would definitely return!

Beautiful place!!! Came here with a group of 5 people (and a dog!) very dog friendly and the staff were super! Food was lovely and the fish was the star of the meal. Really enjoyed our paella. Music was also lovely and got us ready for our weekend in Southend, thank you!!

Stumbled across a couple eating whilst we were sat near the beach. I asked them where they'd got their food from and they directed me to Kilkie's where my partner and I promptly ordered lobster poke bowls. They were delicious. Hope to return soon and especially when they're open for dining again. Great service too. Thank you!

Amazing space, the food was delicious. I ordered the seafood linguine and OMG it was lush! Super fresh, and the taste was just to die for. The team was lovely too, super friendly. Lovely atmosphere and friendly l, attentive staff. Scallops and fish soup starters were nice. The Seafood pasta and Smoked Haddock were lovely! We go there again.

We had lobster risotto and haddock. The risotto is delicious dusted in parmesan cheese, both distinctive flavours blends superbly. The haddock is of top quality, tasting divine topped with a perfect poached egg and accompanied by horseradish sauce. Every mouthful is heavenly. Only a top chef could produce such a flavoursome dish using the simplest everyday ingredients. Compliments!

Beautiful restaurant, cozy with a warm atmosphere. Friendly staff. Food was great, very much enjoyed my salmon and garlic sweet potato with pep pom sauce, french beans cooked perfectly with red onions... yummy.

Went on a Thursday evening so fairly quiet. Nice selection of beers (although less than usual on the day we went as they were expecting a delivery the next day). Friendly and chilled atmosphere. Food wise just peanuts, crisps etc, although I hear you can bring your own in. Would recommend.

A nice micro pub within easy distance of Prittlewell, which I was visiting. Love pints of 5 Points Bitter on cask at the time; shame about the England football performance being shown on a big screen! 😱

Great beer tap room with real ale barrel and many keg options. Great value with a third of a pint and half options on All beers. Soft drink, cider, wine Sprits etc.

This place is the best testimony where this area is headed, friendly, laid back, excellent customer service and an interesting concept. The guys have a fantastic knowledge about beers and welcomes everyone. Went on a Sunday afternoon and had a great time and tried some fantastic beers.

Love it here, it's a little old converted toilet but don't be put off by that. Its a quirky little bar selling excellent craft beers and ciders. They have pop up food every so often. This place goes from strength to strength. The beer range is amazing, with new beers to try pretty much every visit. The event nights are superb. Keep an eye out for a beer tasting night and book quickly or you'll miss out. If you're really into your beer, this is the place for you and if you're not, it's the place to learn about it. Pricing is insanely reasonable too. This is definitely a "don't miss it" experience.

Great place for great beer. We walked 3 1/2 miles to try some seasonal stout, well worth it. Owners and staff really know their stuff. The vinyl music is a treat and the loo is the best stocked pub loo I've been in.

What a place, so much fun, everything and anything to do. I didn’t eat the food but it looked and smelt amazing. The staff were so bloody nice. The decor is awesome and so individual. I’d love to come back with friends. Lovely to have a place like this so local.

I've been here for a night out, kids party and lunch on a Sunday. This is a fantastic place for all. The cocktails here are all named after games and reasonably priced compared with other local venues. The atmosphere is great of an evening and seems to attract a fairly relaxed crowd, probably students. The venue is great for kids in the daytime with lots of games available for them to play. There is a great variety of board games. There is also pinball and an arcade machine. You can book to play on the consoles they have too. The pizza here is great. Probably my favourite pizza in Southend. I would recommend you try this if you visit as it's also reasonably priced and worth the money. The staff are really friendly and seem to enjoy working there. Highly recommend.

Been coming here for a year or so now with a few mates, always have such a great time. Whether it’s table tennis, pool, board games, or just for a few beers and some food, they have everything here. The food is so much better than you would expect for a games room/bar, it’s proper homemade pizzas and banging wings & sauces. Couldn’t recommend it enough.

Excellent bar with friendly staff and a selection of games and activities to play. The cocktails ordered were made well and tasted nice. The images on the back of the toilet door did make me laugh too 😄 Would highly recommend this place if you're in the area!

came here with my boyfriend last month when we came to visit southend and this was our first time here but we're definitely going back! cocktails priced amazingly well, the piña colada i ordered was amazing and we both had a good time playing monopoly! definitely recommend (:

Was a Saturday night and fairly quiet but we were in there pretty late. Few different groups and everyone was mega friendly, good banter, and the bar staff and owner were good fun too. Lots of entertainment, got smashed doing beer pong, and was going to have a go on one of their consoles but moved in instead. Beer was good, and had a Goldeneye cocktail, which was great. Didn't try the food, so can't rate it. Looking forward to going back at some point, and even giving the family times a go with the kids and trying the food menu out.
