A nice take on a traditional Irish pub. Excellent local craft beer selection. The Irish stew wasn't very authentic, and having pizza on the menu was an interesting take. But the Shephard's Pie was fantastic and very authentic. Being inside the shopping "mall" hurt the experience a bit.

Gorgeous place and the bridge crossing was fun [¥550] for adults. On a nice day you can play in the stream under the bridge. I even swam under it. And on a hot summer day it was amazing. [There are currents that are strong enough to pull you in. So be careful]

The Vine Bridge is located in a very pretty area with a lovely little cafe where you can feed the birds from the palm of your hand for free. I completed the Vine Bridge walk with my heart in my throat, carefully stepping across each rung, one by one. The view was stunning, but be careful taking your phone out - there is only the river below! There was parking available for a small fee.

Pretty, and a short visit. Just a shaky bridge walk, a small waterfall close to the end of the bridge and a short walk after that along the gorge, and you’d probably be done in an hour or so. The bridge itself was pretty fun — not too scary but I’m an adrenaline junky (fair disclosure). There ARE gaps between the wooden planks but it doesn’t shake too much and you’d get by holding onto the vine railings which feel sturdy enough. 500 yen for parking, and 550 yen to cross the bridge itself (once). You don’t have to (can’t) go back the bridge once you’re done, which could be a blessing for those with a fear of heights! There are also quite a few eateries for quick bites / meals / lunch in the area selling smoothies, udon, skewers and more.

The bridge is made with steel wire rope and attracts a lot of people. I did not realize there was a fee. I was able to walk about halfway starting from the wrong side. It does bounce up and down quite a bit, and you have to step on the boards otherwise your feet would slip through. Bridge is supported by steel cable disguised as vine, it’s probably safe. (personally I think it’s a waste of money, this seems like a American type tourist trap)

It was a fun experience but it’s a little short 😆 because you have to pay to go across the bridge and you can only go one way. The gaps on the bridge was huge so need to becareful. Many tourist so hard to take a good photo 😂. After crossing you can walk downwards and there is a waterfall and I think depends on the water level, you can go down to the streams. It’s beautiful there so worth going down. And there is a place where you can park nearby, they have souvenirs. I recommend parking at the opposite of the souvenirs shop since it only 300yen (see last photo) and the parking at the souvenirs shop is 500yen (second last photo).

A great place for tai (sea bream) sushi, as it’s a speciality in the area. It was really delicious and would certainly recommend coming here to try it. The price was reasonable too. I went in the evening and it was almost empty, so I had a nice experience.

Reasonable lunch with local specialities. Snapper dishes are what they are famous for. We liked snapper in a bucket but sashimi wasn’t THAT special. We had it better elsewhere and tempura was so so. However, their noodle was great, so I recommend to have noodle here instead and snapper somewhere else.

The interior of the restaurant is darker than the usual Japanese restaurant, and it's filled with an old house vibe and smell. The dishes we had are hot soup based soman and minced sea bream rice set. The rice didn't absorb the fish flavor as it should be. The flavor of both dishes are acceptable but not exceptionally good compared to other options around Okaido area. We consider this restaurant a place to try somen and rice set but not a necessary stop here in Matsuyama as there are still better options available. The candy gift obatined from posting on Facebook is also pretty common and perhaps a little bit near the expiry date from the look of it. Overall, it's still a place to dine but do not expect exceptional flavors.

Taimeishi is the to go local cuisine when you are at Ehime prefecture. And of course me too tried the Taimeishi and found it not bad. It relies on the freshness and umami from the fish which is great, no fishiness taste. Fish was slightly overcook i think, but ocerall not a bad bowl of taimeishi

I ordered a Matsuyama Taimeshi set. The noodles were tasty and can be ordered hot or cold. The fish was good but surprisingly didn’t stand out compared to other cooked fish by itself. Combining it with flavours from one or more of the other bowls in the set is a must. The service was outstanding from start to finish; the whole restaurant felt like a very high quality establishment and as such, attracted quieter people looking to enjoy their night away from the crowds. It’s very rare to find anyone who can speak English in Shikoku so the ability to communicate with front-of-house staff and the waiter in Japanese will make everything go smoothly.

Fantastic restaurant in Shimanto. The food was excellent, especially the locally caught tuna. The vibe is great with an open kitchen and two levels of bar seating. The hospitality and staff were so warm and friendly despite the language barrier. They do have an English language menu. Highly recommend!

Awesome and delicious restaurant in Kochi Shimanto! The restaurant is designed like a theater where everyone including the second floor can look down at the chef and cooks! The food was delicious especially the Katsuo fish since Kochi is famous for it. Overall all the food and seafood was great! Highly recommend it to anyone visiting. Not sure if they speak English though.

This was our favorite restaurant in Shimanto. The owner and his wife (Isuzu) are devoted to their business. You can tell from their hands-on approach and the quality of the food. Everything is excellent. They do not speak English, but they do have English menus. They’ll work very hard to make you feel welcome. We hope to return again some day.

Good place to try out the local specialty food of Takamatsu. I got young chicken (wakadori) because I saw other people eating the old chicken, the meat is so tough that it requires a scissors to split it. The young chicken is very tender and the grilled part is seasoned with black pepper. The meat seems marinated as it doesn't taste bland without the grilled layer. The design of the shop is pretty interesting and the staff were nice. They also have English and Chinese menu, the Japanese menu looks very traditional so its a bit hard to understand what's on the menu. The chicken and a beer cost me 1600 yen, not bad a deal! I have never tasted chicken so tender. Chose the YOUNG CHICKEN over the MATURE CHICKEN as it was juicy and tasty and grilled to perfection - slightly crispy on the outside and oozing with freshness inside. All chicken are Kagawa-grown apparently and butchered only in the morning. The other small dishes were great to go with the alcoholic drinks available - and quite a wide range if I might add. Came back twice already!

all the dishes are good. the young chicken leg is so juicy and soft but it may be too salty for some people. quite a lot of people lines up after 7pm so remember to go earlier.

We love here so much that we came for two days out of our three-days-only trip! I recommend choosing wakadori (young one) for the roasted chicken. Also, the salmon chatsuke plus the torimeshi (chicken rice) are all good. The roasted chicken is a must-try dishes here in Takamatsu. It’s totally worth it;)

If you are around Takamatsu besides udon you have to try chicken, we saw a line in this place in their famous shotengai and decided to eat there, took us 20 min to get a table since there was a line. This is a popular restaurant as there was a huge line up outside the restaurant of around 10 people. I had to wait about 15 minutes even though my name was #2 on the waiting list. I ordered the Sea bream set meal (tai meshi 鯛めし) for 2,200 yen. The waitress brings the meal and explains in detail how to eat the meal. 1) First you mix the egg, 2) Pour the sea bream fish and seaweed into the egg mixture 3) Put rice into rice bowl 4) pick up sea bream with chopsticks and put onto rice 5) pour egg mixture sauce onto rice. The amount of sea bream is very little, but very fresh and tasty.

This is a new restaurant across from the entrance to Tsubaki No Yu Dogo Onsen, about 300 meters from the main Dogo Onsen at the elbow of the shopping arcade. A great find, hidden behind the Lawson. They serve Uwajima style Taimeshi (Sea Bream over Rice), a regional dish in Ehime. They have several different set menu options ranging from 1,100 yen to 2,000 yen. We went with the 1,500 option with a generous portion of Taimeshi, side soup, and pickles. We also ordered a side of Karaage (fried chicken) that was tender, juicy, and delicious. The drink menu had selections of regional Ehime sake and national sake. I was new to Taimeshi, and enjoyed it. It has a unique flavor, it's fun to prepare and customize to your liking. The meal leaves you full but not too full. See photos on how to prepare. We noticed a few places have started serving Taimeshi in the Dogo area lately, so it must be popular with tourists.

Matsumaya Okudog Ichiyo no Mori: We took two rooms for 2 nights attracted by the location out of town (about 5 km) and the outdoor onsen facing the river. We enjoyed the natural setting with a view of the forest hill and the river. The hotel dates back to the 60s and kept the same decor. The food is a buffet and the dining room feels like a cafeteria. The second evening the staff kindly referred to an excellent Japanese restaurant about 20 minutes drive away, and we lost one hotel dinner (out of 3) already prepaid. The hotel staff is most welcoming.

The rooms were a bit small, but was that view crazy! It’s a bit dated, I can’t lie. The buffet dinner was good, not the best but it was not bad. Dinner and breakfasts were buffet style with sushi, sashimi, and various meats. There was also a shuttle that went to and from the hotel to Dogo Onsen that could be reserved from the front desk which was very helpful since the hotel was up a mountain.

We had a fab dinner/evening experience in this genuinely authentic restaurant (part of an oyster farm). We grilled our oysters on BBQ at our table. We also ordered and shared a set meal of oysters done in different ways, some pickles, soup and rice. Beer was nice too. We highly recommend!
