the drinks and pastries were so good but the 'shakshuka' was a little disappointing, the egg was completely solid and the base had pretty much no sauce and was entirely peppers. It was fine, just not shakshuka.. :(

First time visit and can't wait to return. Food was so delicious. Portion sizes were very good to almost too much. Very filling but so tasty. Very fresh tasting and drinks were excellent as well. Atmosphere was very clean, friendly and welcoming. I totally recommend this place for a brunch or coffee and cake or ice cream. It wasn't cheap but average for prices these days and the quality of everything was excellent.

Got a huge, warm welcome when I popped in for a coffee first thing on Saturday morning. It makes such a difference when it is clear your custom is appreciated. It was a pleasure to sit in a very clean, tidy space. Will be back fur brunch on Tuesday if not before. Well done Team Figment. 👍

A lovely place with REALLY good coffee and cake. Shakshuka we had tasted below average, should have ordered one of the toasts as they looked better. The staff were lovely and there were plenty of tables. Definitely has a family friendly vibe. We enjoyed our visit however coffee and cake are its strength. Staff were open to feedback (shakshuka eggs are supposed to be poached) and again really lovely which made a big impact. Gluten free options available and would definitely recommend

Coffee is good but the place is very noisy, not very quaint hence find it very difficult to have quiet coffee with someone, service frustratingly slow and completely overwhelmed on weekends. Ground coffee is absolutely overpriced even by artisan coffee standards... I went twice and ended up giving up.

This is one of the few places in the area where you can get a coffee, so I go there. Coffee is good, though the regular cups are way smaller than in the other places that also serve good coffee. Cake slices are also somewhat smaller..) however I can confirm both coffee and cakes I tried were tasty. My concern is the unwelcoming atmosphere. Nobody from the staff would greet you with a smile etc. Another issue I have is that the coffee cup/plate are being removed once you are done eating as if they want you to leave immediately. I was actually asked few times to either change table to make room for people with dogs (though no dogs were in sight, otherwise I’d happily move). So just all in all although coffee is good and worth taking, I’d maybe switch for Take away cups rather that sitting in. Hope from the staff sees my review and makes an attempt to make customers feel more welcome :)

Absolutely loved this place! The vibe is upbeat and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed meal. The salads and beverages were fresh and flavorful, but the standout was definitely the mango chutney grilled cheese—such a unique twist and so delicious! Most salads you could get half and half. If you’re looking for a spot with great food and atmosphere, definitely give this place a try!

I had a great brunch at FoodStory. Even though I'm not a vegetarian, the food was so nice that I considered becoming one! I had the everything toast, a great combination of flavours. The place itself is lovely and welcoming, with a friendly atmosphere. Plus, it's dog-friendly, which was handy, as we had the dog with us. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a vegetarian and/or dog friendly cafe

Dog friendly, very spacious, polite and friendly staff. A wide range of food on offer and great coffee. The pancake (with banana and yoghurt) was very filling and delicious!

I really love the concept of this place – it’s simply brilliant. There’s plenty of space with cozy seating areas and tables, and the breakfast is great. The baked goods are delicious, and I especially appreciate the wide selection of organic products you can also take home. I felt very welcome here and the vibe among the staff was relaxed and friendly. It’s the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable.

A different experience, a really nice place to chill and enjoy coffe and have some brunch, fresh salads and cooked meals , the bread is amazing. I recommend this place as a vegetarian place, many options all made from fresh ingredients.

Was only coffee shop open before 9am except for Starbucks. We didn't know it was vegan but still enjoyed our match & coffee along with a raison scones & banana chocolate chip bread

I loved the atmosphere and very friendly and helpful staff. I haven't tried a huge amount for their food, mainly just drinks, but the food looks fantastic. I came here to meet a friend on a few occasions and once to just relax and do some light work on my laptop, I always ended up staying for hours; a very warm and relaxing environment.

Everything about this place is charming. The layout, decor, staff service, food and coffee just satisfies. Coffee reminds me of the excellent brews you get from your typical Australian cafes so this place reminds me of home. Tried the sourdough croissants, the whipped feta bruschetta dish and its all good. Price is expected given its location but worth it imo.

Been here a number of times recently on visits to Aberdeen. Very friendly, helpful staff and superb coffee (Unorthodox Roasters beans on our visits). Food and pastries great too. Hope it reopens soon. And with the same staff!

Great little independent cafe serving delicious speciality coffee and bakes. The owners & staff are very friendly and welcome you in to a relaxed and chilled environment. Definitely worth trying out the events which include yoga, Pilates, Christmas markets and wine tasting. Our favourite place in Aberdeen by far🏔️☕️🌿

I don’t write a lot of reviews, but I travel all over the world for work, and because of this, I spend a lot of time in cafe’s getting work done. Mount has become one of my fav in the whole world! The coffee was great but the friendly service and great music made the vibe simply amazing. This place feels like an old school coffee house. There are people meeting, family’s visiting together and just a great mix of people enjoying their coffee. This place Is exactly what a great coffeehouse/cafe should be.

Lovely little place, stopped in for lunch on a free day in town. Friendly staff, delicious affordable food, cozy and charming atmosphere. I had a flatbread with pastrami, peppers and cheddar and the homemade chips; everything was excellent. Loved the mismatched plates and flatware.

First time. Wow!!! Where is this places Michelin star? Inventive, artistic and food that sends your taste buds into a spin! Prices not to shabby either. Front of house very attentative also. Will defo be back!

Wonderfully imaginative menu in a very informal and comfortable environment. I found the vegetarian choices delicious. The taste combinations are wonderful and the portions are very generous. Good wine choices. Loved the friendly atmosphere AND it is dog friendly with good space around the tables for your pooch to relax. We have a well behaved labrador and Dalmatian and they had space around us to settle. The chef was very dog friendly and brought them a little titbit which made us feel very welcome

Absolutely loved this place. We were walking past looking for a shop and got talking to the owners mother who was at the door so we decided to go back later. We were made so welcome, not only to the restaurant but also Aberdeen. Food was fresh, homemade and delicious with great vegetarian options. The desserts were homemade by Mrs B and amazing. We opted for the 3 course menu which was an absolute bargain. They could have charged at least 10% more and it would still of been great value. Service was top notch, everyone was happy, knowledgeable and especially Tosia who was a delight. Thank you for making our visit to Aberdeen memorable.

A rare experience that deserves more than 5 stars. Our friend stumbled upon Cafe52 for lunch, said the Cullen Skink was exceptional and suggested we have dinner there. Fortunately, there was one table available (booking highly recommended). The open kitchen showed the care and attention put into every dish. The food and the service were first class. If you want somewhere with a cozy, unpretentious but seriously brilliant, don’t hesitate. Thank you to the fabulous team. We appreciate it.

Was recently voted second best cafe in the UK. No idea why. The place is ok, but nothing is above average or outstanding, not the location, the view, the food, the decor or the service. All average. Not bad, just normal.

Lovely little place. Warm and welcoming. Cakes to die for, which I can't have as I have just finished a prawn Marie Rose with salad, which was amazing! You should definitely visit this place!

NB. Very important: if you order anything that includes toast make sure you tell them to not burn it. Completely agree with John Millar's review - no idea why it was voted 'second best' in the UK, I know several within a mile of where I live that should come above it. I suspect the vote was fiddled somehow. Regardless, it's obviously popular but probably due to lack of competition in the area as it's really quite average.

We had quick, friendly service with detailed and enthusiastic description of the Today's Specials, these were also personally recommended by the waitress along with the popularity of these that morning with other customers. The cheese and ham hot pastry bake was delicious! The cream of mushroom as well as the bacon and mayo chicken club sandwich were delightful. Next time I will have a slice of cake too! Lovely, lively but peaceful cafe with very good food and excellent coffee. We had often visited this cafe when it was under the previous ownership - it is now one of the best in the area with great staff and a great welcome. Thank you to a great local independent business - support them and keep our community thriving.

Visited two days in a row as the food and service was so fantastic. High quality food with plenty of choices at great prices.

Had a nice visit at the weekend, late on the afternoon. Ordered a cortado and cheese scone and sat at the window people watching. Service was quick but I was left thinking they had forgotten my scone when my coffee arrived, turns out it was being warmed up and arrived a few moments later. Staff were polite and friendly, making sure everyone was looked after.

Had a lovely brunch at this place. The location is great, easily approachable, the atmosphere is wonderful thanks to the bookshelves all around. The music choice and the food was great as well and all the staff members were kind.

It’s not our first visit to Books and Beans Café, and it certainly won’t be our last! This charming spot in the city centre has become our favorite place to enjoy breakfast. We love sitting on the second floor, where the cozy corner is filled with children's books and a long family-style table, perfect for gatherings. We always recommend booking early to secure our spot, especially if you plan to visit between 11:30 and 12:30—the ideal time to explore both breakfast and lunch menus! The staff is incredibly friendly and always eager to help with menu choices. Every dish we ordered was a delight! While the prices are a bit on the higher side, the experience is truly worth it. From the warm atmosphere to the delectable food, Books and Beans Café is a gem we’re excited to return to again and again! Highly recommended!

Coffee was good (bonus they don’t charge extra for oat milk) and service was quick. Nice decor and it didn’t feel too busy or crowded! The scone was hot and freshly made - but would’ve been better to have clotted cream rather than butter.

Two things I love in life: second hand books and coffee, so being at Books and Beans was like heaven. It was hard to leave - but they closed, so I had no choice 🤭. At least I was able to take some books with me home to Canada!

Went in for tea and a bacon croissant but no croissant available and was offered a bagel. I elected to have a fruit scone. It was small and doughy with plenty jam. The tea was good and hot in a cast iron teapot

Best omlette in Aberdeen. Guaranteed 3 eggs and superb fillings. Wonderful coffee and they don't charge extra for oatmilk AND they are dog friendly.

A genuinely good place to enjoy a proper coffee along with an excellent quality breakfast or lunch. Also catering well for those of us needing a gluten free menu. My breakfast GF pancakes with eggs, bacon and syrup were freshly made and just perfect. Highly recommend 👌 👍 👏

Amazing coffee! Owners know coffee inside an out, incredible amount of knowledge from sourcing the beans, roasting and then brewing and it really shows through the taste of the coffee. I haven’t tried the food but the plates going past me for other customers looked great! I have however, tried the scones and they are amazing! They’re amazing every single time, my most recent was pistachio and cherry and it was absolutely delicious with a bit of butter! Staff are attentive too :)

Took a ride out to a cafe I didn't know existed - WOW what a find! I am a self confessed coffee snob and expect most places to be not up to my expectation - not the case here, the coffee what the best I have had for many a year and the bacon and black pudding roll was just brilliant. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable - I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. I would highly recommend a trip to The Coffee Apothecary.

Absolutely delicious coffee! Excellent fresh locally sourced food with seasonal menu. The menu is small but has a range of delicious dishes. The staff are very friendly, polite and welcoming. There are a selection of home made cakes, I recommend the carrot cake. Everything is so fresh and so tasty. It is also licensed -serves craft beers, ales and wines. There is an area outside that is a sun trap (if it’s sunny) lovely to sit in and it’s dog friendly. They also do vouchers so you can gift someone an afternoon tea or lunch. I highly recommend this place, it is one of the best coffee shops I have been to.

7 stars A wonderful quaint and bohemian style vegan cafe, with an in-house guest-Mickey the Cat. He’s simple adorable gentle and so cute. Best addition to the cafe. The upstairs garden patio is an eclectic collection of hand painted wall murals beautifully decorated artefacts and intricately printed cloth canopies. Giving the whole place a cosy warm and comfortable atmosphere. Surrounded by lots of plants the whole place is an oasis in the heart of the city. Wonderful selection of teas coffees and healthy drinks and good food and desserts too. Would love to come back again. Hope they stay the same if we ever return to Aberdeen 🥰

A very good cafe that serves vegan food and desserts. Throughout the years, I’ve tried a lot of items on their menu and none has ever disappointed me. I really like that they have different drinks of the day and it’s nice that the outside seating area is so comfy. You’ll even get to see Mickey the cat!

It's a nice cafe which is completely vegan. There's an upstairs seating area as well as an outdoor seating area which is nice on sunny days. However there's not a lot seats so can sometimes struggle for a table, but you can take away so there's that option too. Food is good and reasonably priced. I'd suggest going early in the day as they can sell out of options quite quickly, so might not get what you want.

Great cozy place. Loved the garden upstairs that comes with a friendly cat. There is lots of green and flowers outside which is great for a sunny and not so sunny day. Prices are reasonably priced, food servings were good and very friendly staff. Definitely coming back soon.

Giving a fresh review with new photos since its been several years. I love that they are still going strong despite the lockdown. Their decor is more colourful fun and trendy and my favourite place is the rooftop garden. The food is art as well as healthy/delish and their pet cat makes it perfect finish to the cosy boho vibes. The best thing in my opinion are the staff (Like Debbie who usually deals with the upstairs tables), they are genuinely friendly and accommodating and love a good chat. Especially when you have little ones that like to run about, having the friendly understanding and support really makes the experience even better. 5/5 on pretty much everything.

I finally had the chance to visit the Long Dog Café, a place I’ve been eager to try for ages, all thanks to their renowned freak shakes. The experience was fantastic! It’s an incredibly charming café, delightfully dog-friendly, which I absolutely loved. I indulged in a delicious toastie and the unicorn freak shake—both served in hefty portions that truly offered excellent value for money. Overall, it was a wonderful visit, and I highly recommend this spot!

Visites with family according to reviews as a small dog owner it should be a fantastic place. Apart from we were not sure if there is a table service so we had to order at the till. Lady had a friendly manner. Helpfull and informative. The place is small but well seperated for like 5 small grp. Toilet was not sure if we can use it or its just a stockplace. The haloumi burger was amazing. Fresh rocket sweet and hot sauce plenty seeds and good flavour. Pancake is big 1 enough for 2 kids. I can see the dog friendly side apart from an empty water plate. Maybe we went too early amd the staff was too busy with deliveroo orders

I've been searching for freak shakes in Aberdeen and found this small but cute cafe!! Because it was so small there weren't any seats left for us and so we had to take away. The staff were super nice and friendly. They said they could give our freak shakes in take away cups and will make sure it's instaworthy. Lovely people! I couldn't imagine how it would look like as a take away. I was blown away by how cute they were! They were a masterpiece. Not only did they look good, they taste amazing! We ordered the matcha honey, aero mint, and choco fudge. We also ordered a kinder hot chocolate. All were amazing! Of course they were super sweet but that's what you'd expect from ordering a freak shake. Will definitely go back. Hopefully there will be seats and this time, I'll have it in a mug!

Stopped in by for lunch a few weeks ago. The good was really good and the place certainly has a cosy atmosphere. The fact that it's dog friendly is definitely a plus too.

Contour Cafe is a small spot tucked away in a stunning little area, hidden from the busy main street running through Aberdeen town. From the outside, with all its seating, it definitely looks like a place that gets busy. I can imagine it being a lovely spot to sit and eat in the summer when the weather is nice. The staff were really friendly and welcoming, which added to the charm. The decor did not quite grab me though, it felt like it was not sure what it wanted to be, especially with the mix of seating styles inside. I had a BLT while I was there and it is honestly one of the better ones I have had in a long time. If I am ever back in Aberdeen, I will definitely be returning.

Unpretentious, with a modernist, youthful flair, this cafe in "The Green" of the old town cobbled square is a gem, with uncomplicated great food, reasonably priced, and friendly service. I enjoyed the very flavorful, grilled Haloumi wrap sandwich, accompanied by a fresh salad. Highly recommended!

This is a hidden gem, near where the old Aberdeen Market building was. Despite the view from the place looking like a war zone, there’s a lot of thriving little businesses in this area and this place is definitely one of them. Sandwiches were £8 but you definitely get your money’s worth and there’s a nice relaxed atmosphere to enjoy while you eat them. Will definitely drop in again!

walked in and they were playing american football’s when summer ends, so already welcomed with a warm midwest emo hug before i’d even sat down. the flat white was spot on — smooth & balanced. the kind of coffee you don’t need to overthink, just enjoy. staff were friendly without being performative, which is rarer than it should be. space feels modern but lived-in — light, open, a place you can actually relax in. if you’re into good coffee, nice staff and even better playlists, this place has both nailed both. update: they just started playing galaxie 500’s strange. turns out the playlist is as dependable as the coffee.

Aberdeen is a quiet and beautiful city ,with different cafes...one such cafe is this one which my friend and I visited. We absolutely loved the atmosphere and the staff, they were so friendly!! I ordered the scone and my friend ordered the millionaires brownie which complimented our coffees. The aroma of coffee was absolutely magnetic and the aura of the cafe is absolutely welcoming ... We found our cozy corner and chatted for hours ,some where working on their laptops while others enjoying their own companies.. loved the place !

Lovely spot to visit on a hot summer day or to shelter from the rain. Wonderful coffee and a wide selection of cakes and other baked treats. Warm and welcoming staff. I had a very generously sized cinnamon roll that paired perfectly with a delicious chai latte. Wonderful! One note is that due to the size of the venue, it can be bustling during peak times - but otherwise fantastic.

Had a nice morning coffee and cake in The Cult of Coffee. The flat was very tasty and the cake light and fluffy. The sit in experience was very enjoyable and the menu offers a lot for looking for well prepared coffee and sweet treats. There is a nice selection of coffee goods on sale too, with a couple of roasters beans as well. The staff were polite and offered to answer any questions you may have about their offerings. Definitely worth a visit.

They seem to have all the pieces of the formula to make an ideal café - great coffee, friendly staff, cosy and stylish atmosphere and homemade food. They were also very dog friendly!

I believe The Cult of Coffee to be the best coffee shop in Aberdeen - especially for filter coffee. They have an ever changing selection of guest roasts. I think this is great as too many shops sell the same beans all year round which isn’t particularly sustainable in coffee growing/ production terms, plus it’s a bit boring! The Cult of Coffee offer two different filter coffees to have sit in or takeaway, you can also purchase bags of coffee beans from their wide guest selection. If you need them ground then they are happy to do so. They have specialty filter coffee equipment, paper filters and books for sale too! The staff are always so friendly and helpful offering advice on what to choose or even just having a blether about coffee and planned events - I can’t wait for future coffee cuppings! Lots of different home bakes to choose from, I particularly enjoy the brownies.

I went to stonehaven yesterday with my 2 friends and they were kind enough to take us in as a walk in of 3. This place was gorgeous, the views were splendid, The staff where lovely and were brilliant at their jobs. The waiter who took our order convinced my friend and I to have the crayfish risotto with half a lobster for £25. That was my first time having lobster and I now am furious at the chef who prepared it because I'll never be able to eat it anywhere else, it was exquisite and has put my expectations high for other restaurants I wish I was informed of all 3 of the waiters names because I would've loved to personally mention them. I can't wait to come back again and have all 3 courses next time!!

Superb meal and service. My pork belly was great. Seabass was good too. A little dry for me but was not my meal. Just a taste. The bread was just amazing along with thee mussels.

The chefs have magic in their fingers when creating these exquisite fish creations. Delicious langoustien bisque, sea trout and muscle starters. We enjoyed rock turbot, bream sea and coley served with accompanying vegetables. All plates were creative and delicious. Generous portions of fresh tasty perfectly cooked fish. For puddings we had ginger infused flapjack and spiced plums, crème brûlée and an imaginative cherry sponge with small balls of sweet ice cream. The wines we enjoyed perfectly accompanied the fish dishes. All the staff were both professional, yet friendly. A wonderful evening, enjoying the most delicious sea food. Book a table at the Tolbooth when visiting Stonehaven. You won’t be disappointed!

I had the Shetland mussels, halibut, and flapjack, and every course was outstanding. The mussels were fresh and perfectly cooked, the halibut was beautifully prepared with delicate flavors, and the flapjack was a comforting, delicious finish. The recommended wines matched each dish perfectly and really elevated the whole experience. Service was warm and attentive, making the evening memorable. The Tolbooth Seafood Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates exceptional seafood and thoughtful pairings.

Am a local, not eaten here in years. Got in without a reservation on a Wednesday evening. Place is a lovely layout, nice decor. Place was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday. The food was absolutely fantastic. Had the langoustine starter and the pork belly main. Balance on both dishes and variety of flavours on the plate was astonishing. Staff were perfect, not in your face but there when you wanted anything. Delighted to "find" the place, I'll be back.

Found this place as we didn't have breakfast in our hotel. Spacious cafe, nice that the tables weren't packed in. Reasonable selection of cakes, would like to have seen prices. Cooked breakfast was ok, have had worse and had better. Accomadating as I asked for toast which wasn't on the menu, £3.60 for 2 slices with butter. Americano was ok. Tea was ok, noted when we asked for the receipt that it was 60p for extra hot water. Staff nice.

Been going here for years and the quality has never wavered! Food is always delicious and served quickly. I would highly recommend the wide range of delicious homemade tray bakes - definitely something there for everyone! Gwen and her fabulous team are so kind and helpful, and make the experience that much more enjoyable! Thyme out is the perfect place for a quick coffee or a yummy meal so would definitely recommend you stop by! <3

Nice surroundings and spacious. Staff are thoughtful and attentive too. However... It is a little pricey in some areas, but what I don't like is being unable to call in my orders as no one answers the phone. I don't want to spend my breaks waiting n food being cooked. I'm sure you miss out on alot of custom due to this, yes it may be busy, so use more staff? I know I'd use you alot more if o outdoors actually call you and order

Stopped off at Nooks & Crannies for a quick coffee and didn't want to leave. The atmosphere was so welcoming and the proprietors couldn't have been more friendly, not in an intrusive way I hasten to add. Coffee was offered in a cup or mug (hurray!) and the home baking was both varied and delicious. I particularly appreciated the quaint loo which was spotless. Prices were excellent and great value for money. Just wish I stayed closer, I'd be a regular!

If I could give it 10 stars overall, I would. I can't praise Nooks and Crannies enough for the food, the ambience and customer services. I loved everything about my visit. Well worth a visit.

I was greated with a warm welcome as I entered by a very friendly owner . I was seated immediately. I had a lovely latte and a cheesecake that was delightful. There is retro music playing quietly in the background and the decor is nice and cosy. The ladies opposite me had ordered afternoon tea which they thoroughly enjoyed. After eating my cake and finishing my coffee I had a nice chat with the owners who are lovely, you can tell they absolutely love what they do! On their walls they proudly display awards they have won and its easy to see why they have so many! I'll will definitely go back the next chance I get. Thank you.

OMG 2 visits from aberdeen, and I'm now addicted to this place. The food is really tasty. The bacon rolls, coffee, and their homemade scones and raspberry jam are to die for. Friendly and efficient service.

The Villa Coffee Shop is such a lovely spot. The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly, it feels like you’re being looked after by family. The atmosphere is so homey and peaceful, with charming touches like fairy lights and classic decor. I had the strawberry tart and honestly, it was probably the best I’ve ever had, fresh, sweet, and beautifully made. Paired with an iced coffee, it was just perfect. This place is full of warmth and comfort, and I’ll definitely be coming back.

Found this good café off the main drag. Worth a visit if you're in Stonehaven. Homemade soups and bakes. Vegetarian and vegan options. I had a very good baked potato and a hot chocolate. Pleasant, prompt service. I would revisit.

We stopped by The Villa Coffee House in Stonehaven for a light lunch and a bit of a rest—and it was just what we needed. The soup of the day was delicious, and the coffee hit the spot! The staff were so friendly and welcoming. They even recommended other places to check out in town, in such a kind and diplomatic way that we felt free to explore and make our own choices. We where looking for a place to eat lunch on our stop in Stonehaven and stumbled over this gem! The staff was incredibly friendly and the cafe is very homey and nicely decorated. The food was really tasty! We would definitely come back again.

We always go here on our regular trips to Stonehaven. The food is always spot on and they serve one of the best coffees around too. People working there are friendly.

Lot's of cafe's in this area, choose this one as they had a board outside advertising scones. Couldn't see scones on display inside the cafe. Had a fruit scone which came out hot, long story short, it was just out the oven at 12.10, must have been a busy morning. Only 1 butter portion but a mountain of jam. Had to ask for the other cake as the waitress forgot, which was nice (caramel apple slice). Cakes plus cappuccino and tea was £12. We would probably try somewhere else in the area.

Excellent staff with great customer service. Unfortunately the food was a let down. Brought my kids to have waffles and milkshakes but unfortunately the waffles were not freshly made but were bought from Costco. Sorry I was really disappointed but still gave 3 stars because if great service.

Went with my friend for a quick catch up as it is close to my work. I had the full Scottish breakfast and a latte my friend had the smoked salmon bagel. Staff was welcoming and friendly. The Scottish breakfast was ok but didn't have any mushrooms, hash browns or potato scones. There was one black pudding to justify it's Scottish title. Sausages were not the best I had either. My friend said her bagel was ok still a bit pricey for what it was. All in all nice place for a quick bite a bit pricey for the quality of the food but there are lots of choices so I'll go back for an afternoon tea or try something else that might be better than what I had today.

First time visiting for a morning coffee, had a decaf latte and a baileys hot chocolate total was £7. The drinks were nice but the hot chocolate could have been hotter. Aside from that it was a nice enough place. They have a big selection of teas and cakes. We didn’t order food so cannot comment on that, although looking at the menu they had quite a selection of sandwiches etc available.

Nice cafe at the centre of town, clean and very pleasant atmosphere / staff. I found that the Full Breakfast was lacking hash browns and mushrooms but the bacon was perfect! will be going back to try the scones and the tray bakes

This has happened to me a few times in a few places now when ordering nachos. Something that shouldn’t be hard to get wrong. Nachos have salsa, sour cream and guacamole. It’s on their menu. My theory this is intentional to increase profit margins. They “forget” half the ingredients and hope the customer doesn’t realise/ too polite or socially awkward to comment. In practice they are cheating the customer. This might not be true (but the food was also bad and took an hour total, and the music was awful so my review is valid either way) but if this also happens to you and this is a pattern of behaviour I want there to be a record.

Had a lovely spot of lunch here today. My wife and sister had afternoon tea whilst I wanted a light lunch so had cheese beans on toast. A little disappointed to only receive one slice of toast for the price. However.... The Afternoon tea had a great selection to choose from and was amazing to find an option to have wraps instead of sandwiches. Chicken was cooked perfectly, salad was fresh and the whole thing was just simply delightful. My wife is a head chef so to hear compliments from her means alot!! Well done guys, expect another visit next time we come up.

There are always fancy cakes and home bakes to choose from, & efficient hard working staff who provide a nice service. Boogie Woogie is an ideal location. Twice I've nipped in for a coffee when I had to wait for a bus, and the last time I had time to sit in as I had half an hour.

Probably the best sandwiches i ever had, my family also enjoyed their meals, the employees were super nice and explained any questions calmly even with the language barrier. If i ever return to keith in my life im definetly coming back here.

Lovely spot for brunch with lovely staff. Quite possibly my favourite brunch/lunch menu ever! Something for everyone including children's menu, vegan/veggie dishes, and options to add various extras and sides too. Good coffee. A few parasols/canopies outside would be the only thing that could improve the experience - lucky to visit on a very hot day. We sat inside which was lovely and cool. Dog friendly in and out and plenty parking too!

A gorgeous place to visit (especially on a sunny day) this eatery was lovely, but the atmosphere and customer service on our outing lacked a little. The food was nice - my mushroom quiche was to die for - but I would say the starters wowed more than the mains. The starter portions were very, very generous and were extremely delicious. I loved the the Dinnie Stones were places outside for guests to have a shot lifting - a brilliant homage to the area and its history.

Fab food and coffee, cosy interior. Visited at peak time so was loud acoustically so hard to hear conversation sometimes - but over all nice atmosphere and friendly staff

A firm favourite for coffee, cakes, and lunch! Beautifully situated by the Potarch Bridge, there is a cosy indoors and plenty of outdoor seating. Coffee is very good, and the cakes, albeit a small range, are incredible. Salted caramel brownie is a meal in itself. Always worth a visit.

A wonderful place to visit in an idyllic location near the river Dee. We stayed in the area for a few days and went for walks around and a visit to Loch Muick, however the cafe would be well worth the trip from Aberdeen for the day or as an excuse to stay nearby. The cafe is by a green with swings for children and is dog friendly with ample parking. The staff at Potarch are very welcoming and the service was exemplary. The cafe is a Scottish haven with a cosy interior, lovely decor and beautiful plants. A wood burner in the corner must be ideal on colder days but we were lucky to visit when the weather was warm. The cafe serves local, fresh food and meat from the farm on the estate. The owners clearly care a lot about where they source their food and focus on ensuring top quality ingredients are used to make all of their meals. The food and drink are excellent value and the portions are a very good size. We tried the coffee which was served in beautiful teacups and was delicious. The homemade fish finger sandwich was wonderful and came with pickled cucumber and homemade tartare sauce. The rustic fries went excellent as a side and the bread the fish came in was homemade and very tasty. We also tried the cheese and black pudding toastie which we would highly recommend, the venison burger which was one of the best burgers we’ve ever had and shared the side salad. The salad was wonderful, with fresh leaves, feta and quinoa and came dressed in a lovely dressing. We would definitely go back and wish we lived closer as it would be a frequent place if we did. We look forward to our next trip to Potarch from the south of England.

A little gem in the middle of nowhere. Absolutely delicious food, best sourdough bread and rolls and with fresh ingredients. Highly recommend!

Not brilliant, but not terrible either. A little overpriced. Coffee itself was pretty poor, not much flavour, but serving it with a block of tablet was a nice touch. I had the bagel and soup. Soup (red pepper) was a bit watery but had decent flavour. The bagel was served warm and the pastrami pickle mustard combo held up well - but it all seemed like supermarket ingredients that I wasn't too impressed paying £7.50 for. The staff were nice enough though and it was a good relaxing place for a bite and a sit down.

I absolutley loved this little cafe. It is so close to our office in Aberdeen and when I visit Aberdeen next I will be sure to go here for lunch! The smoothy was amazing and just what I needed on a really hot day. The Panini was super tasty with a good amount of filling and not over priced, and lastly the Malteser bar was too die for ... Staff were so friendly and helpful when I went in to order. I was however lucky to get a seat because it was so busy. It might just be a good idea to avoid prime time ... I highly recommend!

Loved my panini for lunch today followed by ice cream with little bag of yummy toppings. It was so nice and warm today I decided to sit outside on the patio. Very comfy chairs and outside bin to put all of my rubbish in to keep my table clear. Enjoyed my visit very much and next time I think I might have one of their yummy looking cakes!!🙂🙂

I recently attended a bridal shower afternoon tea here. The experience was wonderful from start to finish. The ladies working there were very welcoming and great sports letting us decorate the table with vases, candles, and photos. The food was absolutely delicious, 10/10 for sure! There's something for everyone, even vegetarian options, if I remember correctly. The afternoon tea costs us £30 per person, and the food is really good value for money. I was full by the end and didn't manage to finish everything. My favourites were the scones with clotted cream and jam, plus the rhubarb crumble dessert. So good! The aesthetics made for fantastic photos as well. We now have pictures we'll treasure forever. I'd highly recommend booking with them. You won't regret it!

Almondine is an absolute treasure in Aberdeen. Every time I visit, I’m blown away by the quality and beauty of their pastries, they look like little works of art and taste even better. The macarons are easily a 10/10, and I’ve never been disappointed by any of the cakes either. The staff are always so kind and welcoming, especially the lovely Canadian girl, and the owners clearly takes pride in what they do. It’s one of those places that just makes you happy. I’ll always keep coming back!

Gorgeous French style patisserie with a good selection of macarons and cakes. The seating area is a little small and is often reserved at busy times, so best to arrive early or reserve in advance.

Popped in for a "snackette" and have to say that they served me the best sour dough baguettes I have had in a long while, I opted for the chicken with mozzarella & Sun dried Tom's, (well filled and VERY tasty) The coffee was excellent (it's nice to actually taste the coffee for a change) we were extremely well looked after in the covered garden area (which is dog friendly) attention to our needs was second to none! My overall impression was 10/10. Well done guys, and keep up the great work.

Beautiful outdoor seating area for warm summer days. Also the iced drinks portions are massive and definitely worth trying and the iced black coffee was delicious not too bitter didn't even need sugar. Definitely recommend especially for sunny summer days

Delightful cafe with indoor and outdoor (at rear) dining. Crepes (cooked by a Frenchwoman) are divine! I had the Chèvre. Amazing caramelised onion showed me I hadn’t had properly caramelised onion before this! Many different cakes to drool over, hard to choose! (See photo for some examples) I got the lemon drizzle to take away for later, but would have gotten cheesecake if I was eating it then. I didn’t like the coffee, but I also hate Starbucks, so me not liking it might be a recommendation? Not wheelchair accessible: multiple sets of stairs. Menus in photos at 15 June 24

We really liked the atmosphere of the cafe, it feels quite minimalistic but comforting especially with the food they served. The food was lovely but we felt like the halloumi were on a salty side, more than usual, slightly over salted possibly at least for our taste. The plate that the salmon tagliatelle was on was chipped in three places as seen on the picture and also had some red sauce on the outside of it, that’s why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 as this could be improved on. The salmon tagliatelle had a lot of onion as well or taste of onion, the salmon was lovely though. The chicken penne was lovely as well. We ordered Fentimans Cherry Cola which we both loved and also Pomelo San Pelegrino. Both drinks were very nice, at the end we got to Fentimans to go as we really liked them.

If you're in Tarves, make a beeline for the Murley Tuck! Seriously, their croque madame is legendary – that perfect soft egg yolk is a dream. And don't even get me started on the French toast with fresh berries and the brilliant avocado toast. Plus, the friendly service just tops it all off. Highly recommend!

Frankly, it was overpriced with poor staff. I had a tea, and they forgot the milk. I also had a bagel with avocado. That's not an abbreviation; it was literally just a bagel with avocado. No butter. no pepper. Not even salt. And it cost over £4. Partner had a bacon bagel at it was dripping grease. Never again. Edit response to owner: a sarcastic response is exactly what I'd expect having visited your cafe.

First time to this Symposium, ordered pancakes, latte and cappuccino. Can't fault there hot drinks 10/10 the pancakes 6/10 The music was to loud couldn't go there for a coffee and chat and some songs that come on was being turn up, Would return for the hot drinks but only to take out

Very disappointing. Came to try the pancakes based on the reviews, no pancakes. Had a bagel with cream cheese instead, wasn't cooked through properly, sent it back and the next was the same, as for the cream cheese on top, well there wasn't much of it. Tea and coffee were nice. Disappointed.

I came here for lunch on a busy Saturday and was seated outside quickly in the sunshine. The coffee is very good and they have a great selection of cakes. I had the kimchi toastie, which was tasty, but could have had more kimchi in. The bread it was made with, however, was delicious. The pistachio and raspberry baked cheesecake slice I had after was yummy too. Hoping to come back another day to try the breakfast. Would love if they were open on Sundays!

Woah! This is absolutely fantastic and a gem of Aberdeen. Parx set the bar VERY high as our first visit in Aberdeen. Great atmosphere, lovely and really friendly staff and the food is DELICIOUS. Gluten free options available, I highly recommend the breakfast burrito. Price wise it's great (especially if you're from Edinburgh!) Coffee was delicious...just 10/10 for everything! Keep in mind it's popular so there is likely to be a wait!

I love Parx cafe, firstly the people that work there are wonderful, so accommodating and friendly and I love that after I had been there twice I was greeted by my name each time and now they treat me like a welcome friend. Love it. Secondly but as importantly, the food, I love it, its my home away from home (which is Sydney Australia) fresh, tasty, beautifully presented, healthy, for the most part and obviously delicious. My favourites being the chicken poke bowl, the quiche and the porridge, truly fantastic. Love you guys and will miss you when I return to Sydney :)

Loved, loved, loved this place!! On holiday from Santa Cruz and found this lovely cafe our first morning and had to go back on our last. The food was excellent, especially the porridge, and the staff were wonderful across the board. You can only hope to find a place like this wherever you travel and so glad we did.

Excellent All Day Burrito in a very very popular cafe! Famous for its ‘queue’ to get in, it was well worth the wait!

We wanted to find a new caf that we had never gone to before. And we got there and there is 30 minutes before closing, and there are very accommodating, especially with my 2 little girls that decided with 10 minutes to closing, wanted some food, and even though the kitchen was closed and being cleaned down, they still made them some toast with jam. So yes, I'm very welcoming and nice little cafe.

Amazing coffee, and always a consistent taste, staff are always pleasant and friendly. We have now changed our shopping days to Elgin to coincide with their opening times. Probably the best coffee in town

Batchen Street Coffee Shop is my absolute go-to café in Elgin! They have the BEST coffee & the chicken, tomato, avocado & siracha mayo toastie is sooo tasty!! The cakes aren't too bad either ;) my latest favourite is the croissant with scrambled egg, bacon & maple syrup. I wasn't sure about the combination before I tried it but it was so good! The service is always amazing - the team are brilliant & really look after you when you visit. I can't recommend it enough.

Really great speciality coffee shop in Elgin - stopped in for a coffee and ended up getting lunch too. Staff are welcoming and friendly, and they have a great selection of retail condiments and coffee/tea kit. Was pleasantly surprised to see V60 on the menu and thoroughly enjoyed the Ethiopian beans.

We were on holiday in the area and around 2pm I looked up cafés nearby and this one came up with great reviews so we decided to give it a go. Walked in at 2:15 and waited politely at the entrance. There was only one table of customers inside so I asked the gentleman behind the counter if they were still serving. His response was a very curt “no” with no further explanation. Online it clearly says they’re open until 3pm so we were a bit taken aback by the abruptness. I later checked the reviews more carefully and realised quite a few people had mentioned the same attitude. A shame I didn’t spot that earlier really We ended up going to The Ditsy Teacup instead and what a difference. Warm friendly service and we were happily tucking into lovely paninis by 2:40 according to my phone photos. Won’t be returning here but at least we found a new favourite elsewhere ——————————————— Reply to the owner: Thank you for your response. I understand that kitchens have closing times, and that is completely reasonable. However, when my child and I arrived, we were simply told “we don’t serve food” with no further explanation or offer of drinks or cakes. I said “okay, thank you” and we left. The interaction felt a little abrupt and didn’t quite feel very welcoming. Maybe he assumed I wouldn’t understand, which is a shame. Both my child and I noticed this and were a bit disappointed. Fortunately, we found a lovely café nearby and enjoyed the rest of our afternoon. I hope future guests have a warmer experience at your place. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I will leave it here and hope this feedback helps improve things moving forward.

Visited for Aberdeen Restaurant Week midmorning brunch. It was quiet with plenty of tables available. Did not have to wait to be seated. Friendly and attentive staff. Good menu choices. The food was delicious and the coffee was good and hot. Customers arriving all the time we were there Nice insta ready decor.

We have visited here before and didn't realise we had to book before coming, however staff managed to squeeze us in which we were so grateful for! We visited for a second time, which we booked. The staff here are so lovely and welcoming, and the place has such a chilled vibe. Food was perfect, great coffee, and lovely coleslaw. Would definitely recommend going!

The Belgian waffles were exquisite! Decent coffee, too. Great place for a nice brunch, lovely tunes, kind staff. If you’re planning to work on your laptop, bear in mind there’s no plug or wifi.

This place is the absolute business if you want to have a great breakfast in Aberdeen. Been with my partner the past 3 mornings it’s been that good! Great portion sizes, cooked so nicely, and at a fair price. Staff was a dream as well.

Had a wonderful Scottish breakfast here. The food was good and the service was friendly. I enjoyed the black pudding especially! Would definitely recommend for breakfast!

We actually love it here but just wish the place was bigger as at the weekend you can’t ever get a seat it’s that good or at least every time we have been! Love the French toast it’s banging!

My fellow friends and I visited this ‘decent’ establishment, I have to say the experience I had was pleasant despite the ridiculously loud coffee bean grinder that seemed to be on the whole time yet the coffee was absolutely gorgeous. The food really made up for the slow service but it was busy so is understandable, another member of staff is definitely needed. My seat was quite tight and there wasn’t much room on the four man table. Now I mean no room. If you’re in a rush don’t get Coca Cola. Although it sounds like we’re being harsh on this place the food is seriously top notch we all had a great experience and really enjoyed the visit.

It is a really nice little place for lunch. A-lot of options such as toasties, wraps ect. Quite a bit of seating for customers and nice vibe about the place. Food was good, service and staff were great, very quickly and welcoming. For what me and my partner ordered the price was alright.

I went to Café 100 because of other reviews, when I arrived I nearly went on by because it doesn’t look like much, kind of a “ hole in the wall”. That would have been a mistake, I ventured in anyway and wasn’t at all disappointed. As previously reviewed the staff is very welcoming and kind, the food is well presented and delicious! They were gracious to me when I requested substituting another egg for the Black pudding. I would mention however the menu prices have increased substantially from the ones pictured here, I’ll post the new ones. Don’t miss out on this exceptional breakfast place in Aberdeen, authentic in every way!

The best paninis in Aberdeen !! Whether we sit in or order on Deliveroo the food is always freshly prepared and arrives quickly ! When sitting in the staff are always lovely and helpful.Our personal faves are the veggytastic panini , Dubai shake and the biscoff brownie !!

I used to love this place, as they used to make a fantastic Old Fashioned. However, I went there in Sept 2023 and there was a disappointing drop in quality. Diluted Old Fashioned cocktails and it was too sweet, with poor presentation. The ice used was improper and the cup was not frozen like it used to be. I attached a photo of how it used to look. (Dec 2022) My partner also ordered a drink from their fancy menu, which came in a ‘deconstructed’ cocktail with very sub-par quality. Also needed to ‘break the code’ and look for answers to open the treasure box in the dark in order to have the cocktail - something we weren’t expecting at all, and it was not an easy answer. Pretty annoying really if we’re just there for a nice cocktail. I am now hesitant to return to this place again. Sad that the best cocktail place in Aberdeen now has declined in quality.

The gents toilets are disgusting, no flushing of urinals, one of them taped up , urine all over the floor , 2 wash basins , no water to one of them ,the other basin with tap hanging off , door to toilets filthy. Need to keep an eye on this and spend some money on cleaning and repairs I don't believe this all happened the day I was there at 6.30 pm ? Should be shut down unless this is rectified. Major Health risk

Usually love coming here but tonight the service has been absolutely appalling. No one has even acknowledged me and I’ve been here for 15 minutes…don’t think there’s anything slowing Aberdeen down so no good reason for this kind of nonsense: shocking.

Fantastic place with a really good atmosphere. Especially when there’s live music on. The staff are super-friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. Multiple times I’ve been and had different staff show me different drinks or twists on classics. Overall, exceptional venue.

Small cosy wee cafe that filled up really quickly on the morning i was in , was too early for the tempting selection of chocolate and cakes so settled for the chicken and mayo toastie and a flat white , both were excellent and served by the friendly young lass who had taken the order , pricing was very reasonable and i will be back for one of the very tempting hot chocolates

I don't often write reviews but I have to say about the exceptional service and delicious food and drinks at The Chocolate bar today in Ellon. Took my daughter for a treat, she'd had a tough week, the greeting was warm and friendly with the woman taking time to talk to my daughter, the drinks and food were delicious, a very welcome treat. We were so impressed we brought my husband and son after parkrun. 100% recommend.

We visited for the chocolate fun session and would highly recommend it. It was well organised and the staff were attentive in making sure we had everything we needed. We'll definitely be back to this lovely cafe.

What a lovely place. Toasties were excellent and the cakes to die for. A couple of the other people in the shop recommended the strawberry tart to us and it was probably the best strawberry tart iv had . We also bought a box of chocolates that looked amazing

Although I’ve worked in Ellon for a few years now, I never realised this was a coffee shop! I always thought it was “just” a chocolatier but when I popped in earlier today to buy some chocolates, I realised they had a great coffee menu and a good spread of tables for sitting in. I had a latte and it was exactly what I needed for a decent caffeine top-up. It’s a really nice, cosy little place with a good range of food and drinks, as well as the excellent chocolates of course. First visit today, but it won’t be the last. I grabbed a bag of chocolate to take away as a gift and the selection is excellent.

Mrs Smith's at Haddo truly knows how to make a wedding cake not only look beautiful but taste absolutely incredible! Their design was the perfect fit for the couple's vision and it was such a delight to photograph. The intricate details really stood out, and it was clear the cake was made with so much care and skill. It was a showstopper that definitely got all the attention, and I can't wait to work with them again at future weddings!

Great wee cafe with good coffee, great sandwiches etc. and friendly staff Usually open when the main house cafe is shut. Very limited indoor seating, but a few picnic tables outside, some of which are covered. Only issue is, and I don't know how the cafe staff control this, are customers who think it's OK to allow their dogs to sit ON the picnic tables. Seriously?

Great little stop on our journey home from Inverness, with a fully vegan menu of delicious food and drinks. We shared a large munchie box, which was very tasty, and couldn't resist some vegan pick and mix. Staff could have been a little more conscious of masks and music, as per Covid regulations, but were doing a good job of keeping everything sanitised and socially distanced, despite the difficulties imposed by a small space. Would happily eat here again.

What a lovely cafe! Delicious food, nice varied menu, and very pleasant surroundings. I'd thoroughly recommend a trip here! I must confess I forgot to take photos before we started our meal, but I had the pakora burger, and my mum had the beetroot falafel - both were delicious!

An excellent small eatery. I chose the margarita pizza with potato salad. The pizza was delicious and well prepared, but the potato salad really blew me away. I will definitely try to go back in my short time here.

Fresh, aromatic, crispy. It was tasty vegan food served with a smile. I think a certain amount of passion goes into the cooking and the prices were reasonable.

Love a breakfast or lunch here filled with memories of coming for 20+ years. Many changes and positively access to vegan. Only a small point. Why when we are in Scotland, do they call it an English breakfast especially when it is full of Scottish ingredients. English tea which is neither made or grown in England. This is an offence to the fragile Scottish culture trying to survive here. Also, staff are sometimes overwhelmed at busy times and make basic mistakes. Having worked in hospitality for over 35 yr, people don't mind waiting for their order as long as it is correct and staff are happy and pleasant.

The best castle by far that we've visited. Happen to be an open free day due to an exhibition happening, so we got to explore the whole castle which is in fantastic condition! The history information sheets were also very helpful.

We had a beautiful lunch here, the food is amazing, the desserts are so so good. the dining room is brilliant, located in the old kitchen of the castle, quite unusual. I would definitely recommend it for a visit. looking round the castle would be difficult for anyone who is in a wheelchair or has mobility issues.

Another great Bothy breakfast experience. This time, in Ballater. Great full Scottish. They open at 8:30, which means you can pack a full day of walking in.

We were on a quest for my mom to find coconut almond scones to no avail. The lovely ladies at Bothy said they would make them the following day! We picked them up the next morning..fresh, warm and delicious 😋.

A cafe with a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. We ordered full cooked breakfast which was well cooked and very tasty. The coffee was sadly lacking - more like warm milk 😟 We got home made custard creams, something we’ve only had in Scotland - mega! 😋

Great place with friendly staff and great options! I had a really nice experience at The Boothie. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better. I especially appreciated the wide selection of milk alternatives – they offer oat milk, almond milk, soy milk, and even coconut milk, which is great for people with dietary preferences or allergies. They also offer food in takeaway boxes, which is really convenient if you're on the go. The prices are very reasonable for the quality you get, and everything felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Definitely a place I'd recommend – cozy vibe, good food, and lovely prople.

Real gem. On a our regular visit to the area we wanted a light lunch & coffee. This is the perfect place albeit very busy - but for good reason. Very relaxed atmosphere & importantly great food. The way out is through the outdoor clothing shop - special mention to the staff who were super pleasant

I'm writing this sitting in beautiful park, after getting a coffee and sandwich from The Bothy Ballatter. If I were made to eat the smoked salmon and cream cheese on brown bread for the rest of my life, that would be just fine! And the young ladies working are just lovely!

A lovely place to stop off for a relaxing lunch in their large conservatory with our dog. Even better there is a gluten free menu. I was a little disappointed they've stopped doing gluten free fish and chips as they can no longer get the fish dressing but was very happy with the potato rostis and salad that I had instead. Absolutely delicious and my husband enjoyed his normal fish and chips. There is a handy playpark out the back if you have children. Staff are welcoming and so friendly. Farm shop has great assortment including gluten free crisps in pop up tube just like Pringles. We'll be back soon.

Firstly we were greeted and shown to our table by the lovely smiling Alice. The service throughout was very good. The bacon rolls were good but expensive. I had a flat white which was at best "average" and at £4.15 very expensive. I realise costs have gone up but I've never paid over £3.90 for a flat white eg Flour at Meigle - better flat white at £3.50. So disappointed. This used to be a regular haunt. During covid we sat in the conservatory which at that time was open sided and cold, and enjoyed eating and drinking here. Sorry but from now on Castleton is off our list!

What a wonderful place to stop for a full English! At first, when I looked at the prices, I thought they were a bit high compared to a few others, but it turns out I was wrong. The food is top quality! I especially loved the sausages there. They must be all local produce since they were the best I ever tasted and very well seasoned. Will definitely stop here again if I fancy a big breakfast.

Absolutely spot on. Went here for lunch for my parents 60th wedding anniversary. The staff went way over and above the expected norm, giving us top notch service, some flowers for my parents, tastefully decorated puddings, and spending a significant amount of time making sure our lunch was as special as possible. Food was excellent, staff excelled themselves and the location was very pleasant indeed. I can remember this establishment arriving in its most basic form. Despite its challenges with road closures it has kept its head above and is still very much flying it's kite. If you want a great lunch, look no further. And the good news is, you can probably buy most of the ingredients for what you ate in a very well stocked farm shop under the same roof. Just great.

Wendy is honestly the sweetest! I had a vegetarian breakfast and it was really good — but what made it amazing was Wendy. One of the best service experiences I’ve had. She’s so welcoming and kind. Someone please give her a raise! I’ll definitely be back because of her 💛

I went here for a coffee but the smell of food was so incredible I just had to grab a bite to eat. I ordered a burger with fries the portions were enormous and it tasted delicious. The interior is well decorated and modern and staff were fantastic. I highly recommend!

Lovely fish and chips on the seafront, getting a takeaway was a struggle so we sat outside and had it here. Fish was bang on but the chips weren't like chippy chips, more pre cut oven chips. Really tasty though and plenty of everything. I would definitely call again

Lovely decor and very friendly staff. Great selection of drinks and cakes. I got a large almond chai which was nice but wasn't really a large since it wasn't filled near to the top at all. Same for my mum's large biscoff latte, which she said didn't taste like biscoff at all. Was a good experience but could've been better.

I couldn’t fault my experience. I was here yesterday (a Thursday morning on a sunny day). I was waiting for a friend and got lovely iced water in a mason glass. Nice vibes, staff were lovely and my bacon and cheese croissant was delicious. Thank you for a nice visit. My experience was great but things to be mindful of- we booked a table and the cafe got progressively busier. A lot of the seating round the edges of the cafe are benches and that might not be suitable for all e.g. for those with chronic pain or mobility issues.

Cup has had a big overhaul since I last visited pre-covid, the decor is fresh and more typical of a bar rather than a tearoom but it kind of works! Staff are super friendly, service was great. Great to see they have so many vegan and GF options on the menu. I wish they had more vegan cakes though as I only had one option, which was delicious but having a choice of more than one would have been amazing. Food was tasty, price Vs portion size was a bit out as I had sliders (3 small rolls which were not overflowing with filling) Vs my mates massive fry up for only £2 more. Would return and will choose better portions next time!

Lovely, lovely place for coffee/tea and yummy tray bakes, cakes or scones - but also so much more... The menu is varied and the 'Cup platter' with a toastie, salad, crisps and a soup taster is sheer heaven!!! You can sit inside or out and the staff are so lovely. Great job team Cup 👏

This is honestly an absolute gem in Ballater and one of the nicest tearooms we’ve ever visited. If you’re in the area it’s absolutely worth a visit. Built on the restored Victorian railway station you are seated in oodles of history and charm. It’s beautiful inside with plenty of seating both inside and out. On the right as you enter is booth seating that replicates a corridor train layout and on the left an open plan area with a replica of the royal family’s railway carriage. Beside the main door turn to your left and you’ll find a replica of the royal waiting room which was beautifully presented. We loved the attention to detail throughout and how spotless the whole place was. They have a nice selection of hot and cold food and drink and loved that the menu showed where each of the locally sourced ingredients came from. The menu isn’t huge but this shows they specialise in quality rather than quantity. Their cake and home bake selection is amazing and each looked as nice as the last. We went for some hot drinks, breakfast roll and a cake each. Everything we ate and drank was delicious and you can tell the ingredients were quality and worth every penny. Two younger male staff served and both delivered excellent customer service. We head out Deeside a lot and can’t wait to go back.

An amazing atmosphere! Loved the setting of this cafe, the small touches like their period style bathrooms. The food was good, though quite pricey and the size of the quiche ordered was disappointing given the price. We also ordered 4x iced tea, which was very variable - one glass was flavorful while another was barely distinguishable from water, they clearly tried to stretch out the last 2-3 servings into 4 glasses and dilute it with water when they ran out. Plenty of public parking nearby.

I’ve been before with family and we had to wait a while for a table. I decided to pop in today before traveling and was chuffed I got a seat right away; the place is often busy for a reason.. the atmosphere and food is incredible. Lots of different options for Gluten, Dairy Free and Vegan. Staff are very lovely. Definitely a place to try!

The cafe had decent food ,the chorizo and cheese panini was very tasty , unfortunately the flat white that came with it was lukewarm , when I told the waitress she took it away but never returned with a replacement so had to go up to the counter to question where my drink had gone. They hadnt organised another one so I cancelled the coffee and just paid for the pannini, they weren't too busy (Sunday lunchtime) so cant see how its easy to miss me , the big lad in the corner of the cafe without a coffee . Poor service knocks a few stars off

I have been to this cafe before. It is a busy place. It seems they have a regular customer trail which is a good thing. We took advantage of the soup and sandwich deal. You really do get a very good helping. The cafe is quite spacious and it was quieter by the time we left. I like coming here it has real character.

What a great find! We were on the way back from Aberdeen when we passed a sign for a farm shop and cafe. After traveling down a long farm road, we were pleasantly surprised to find a *beautiful* shop and cafe. The staff were so friendly and attentive, and the food: outstanding! A great selection that's difficult to choose from as everything sounds so good and honestly tastes even better than it sounds 😋 Our food was so good, we went to the shop to buy some pies, sausage rolls and banana bread for home! Can't wait to be passing again as this is a "must stop here" kind of place!

Venison is the specialty of the house, and roast venison has no smell. The seafood is fresh and inexpensive. The waiter's attitude is very good. Breakfast is from 10 to 12 and lunch starts at 12. You can park your car, and you can see their own deer right next to the restaurant. Very nice place, recommended to drive there.

We were desperate for a break from driving on the A90 and saw a road sign for this place. From our exit it was quite a drive but returning to the freeway it was much shorter. It appears to be a new building with lots of room with a deli, small bar room, several dining rooms and a gift shop with jams, tea towels and artwork. The open dining room was upstairs. Tables were nicely spaced. We had one of two cheese plate (Meat deli platter) and tea. The platter had roast beef, ham, two cheeses, scotch and sausage tools. It was nicely presented, fresh and truly delicious, Service was very friendly and relaxed. Good place to stop if you are in the area.

Farm dining at the best. We were having our holiday in Fettercairn and a friend recommended Balmakewan Farm Shop and Tea Room. It’s a beautifully built Farm Shop and Restaurant. Beautiful interiors and the staff was super friendly. Even though the food choices was limited, the food was fresh and delicious. We had Haddock and Pea Pasta, Burgers and Shakes.. Truly a hidden gem and will go back again..

Stopped for a little afternoon tea with my daughter. The coffee and hot chocolate were excellent and the custard cream and tray bake were amazing! Really lovely atmosphere. Could happily sit there all day. Hopefully next time we will come back for lunch and have one of the interesting choices off the menu. The shop items were all rally nice as well.

As always you can get really unusual gifts or items that may not be found elsewhere. We were in to get gardening items and unfortunately couldn't find any staff available to help with our queries. I did get rechargeable batteries have been looking for and a couple of other things. A bit on the pricey side but if you want different you have to pay for the items. The young checkout staff were very smiley and helpful.

Met up with group for lunch. Most had the fish and chips. Superbly cooked, well presented. Staff were very polite and attentive. No muzak to ruin the art of conversation though the venue might benefit acoustically if there were some soft furnishing , carpeting or wall coverings to deaden the rather echoey room. We wandered around the shop after lunch. Mostly post Christmas clearance items. Pleasant and well appointed displays that must have taken some effort to design and lay out.

A lunchtime stop on a motorbike run, and an excellent location to stop for lunch. The baguettes were very nice, with salad and coleslaw which was very reasonable and will bring me back again. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I did not venture into the amazing garden centre which looks an Aladdin's cave.

A lovely garden center. Im keen to visit at Christmas time as I hear they love it and have beautiful decorations. There's much on offer in the way of tasteful gift options. There's also a great restaurant area - I just wish they would get folks seated more quickly. Customers have to wait quite a while, whilst those at the front of the queue await their preferred table/area to come available. Even whilst there are 5 or 6 tables available elsewhere that other customers could be seated at. The food was very good and the staff are friendly and helpful. Some super desserts on offer! Im not sure about dogs being allowed in the garden centre - we witnessed an owner, with her dog on a long lead, totally ignore it cocking its leg over plant stands😬

A jewellery in the crown for Banchory and Deeside, the stock is impressive and varied and displays are changed to match the seasons and celebrations. Restaurant is first class, tray bakes exceptional. Plant section well stocked with a variety of good quality plants..The staff are very helpful and polite and assist if needed. All in all a top class venue and a must visit location.

The christmas seasonal decor is out. Always a lovely variety of goods to choose from to suit everyone. Wonderful practical kitchware, special gifts, so much to suit all tastes

We were staying nearby and were pleased to see somewhere local with vegan options! The vegan haggis and cheese on a panini was delicious. My partners vegan burger was a bit disappointing, as the ‘onion rings’ that came with it were just literal rings of onion. I can only assume this is because the batter they normally use is non-vegan? They should swap this for chips instead, as serving this is a bit embarrassing.

So glad I remembered about Deans! I was starving today and struggling to find a place to get hot ready food, with fair portions and at a fair price.. The quality of the food is just great! I got the salmon quiche with tatties, salad, cheese and chips 😍 I could feel the box was FULL to the brim, plus a small bottle of water all this for just over a tenner! Service is amazing, workers are doing a really great job. You guys saved my day😂 Highly recommended

Very poorly prepared food. I'm not using the word "cooked" which would be an offense to cooks around the world. Avoiding the place altogether is a good idea. The place is described as "bright and airy". Feels more like the canteen of a derelict prison.

We went yesterday for lunch so we ordered two coffees, a soup and pudding deal and a soup and bacon bap. The coffees were cold got them replaced. My pudding was never coming, 3 times asked if I was ready for it, it took another staff member to go and get it as a takeaway as my husband had gone and left me sitting waiting. I was offered a coffee - really after a cold offering! I did get a refund and apology of only 2 in the kitchen doing their best. Maybe in this instance their best wasnt good enough. If this is the situation then reduce the menu so that they can cope. We will not be back.

Excellent food let down by poor customer service. Had a visit yesterday after a lovely trip to Huntly Castle. Our food was lovely, freshly prepared and great quality and I did really enjoy it, however I did feel let down by the customer service when it came to my daughters meal. I know that fish comes with bones but within 2 bites she had found 3 (quite large) bones and was unable to continue eating. I mentioned this to one of the staff behind the counter and was told "We're not really responsible for that." and while I see what she was getting at, if you're preparing a dish and serving it to customers there is always a responsibility, doubley so when preparing a dish for a child. I've prepared fish many times and it's fairly simple to check a fillet over for large bones. The staff member advised she would pass on my concerns but never offered to take my details should someone higher up decide to contact me about my complaint. My point that we had purchased a meal my daughter was unable to eat was basically dismissed and I felt this was a bit disappointing given the very high standard of every other aspect of our visit. EDIT: I would like to add that I later spoke to a Dean's representative who was extremely understanding and professional and I'm very grateful for thier understanding.

Went here today for afternoon tea and it was lovely. Sandra, who managed the booking and our food was just brilliant. The food was lovely too. We also got two separate plates each so that when we finished the savoury, we didn't have bits of it on our sweet. We also got a doggie bag (is this still PC ☺️) as we just couldn't finish what we had. First time visit but "I'll be back" ☺️

Delighted to find Dean's restaurant open again. The staff were lovely and the restaurant tables nicely spaced out for social distancing. The menus were laminated and collected in after order to sanitise. The food was plentiful and tasty. The coffee is great. I will be going back with my disabled family members as it is well set up for wheelchairs, having both space and a lift.

Nestled in a quiet corner of Scotland, Finnsea Estate and Farm Shop is the kind of place that makes every detour worthwhile. Over the course of my many trips through Scotland, I’ve sampled more than my fair share of restaurants, yet this one consistently earns a spot at the very top of my list. It may not sit on the typical tourist trail, but perhaps that’s part of its charm and an authentic escape where the food speaks for itself. On this visit, I went straight for the pork burger- Perfectly cooked, deeply flavorful, and layered with the kind of care you can taste in every bite. Quite honestly, it wasn’t just a good burger; it was the best burger I’ve ever had.

A busy little cafe (maybe because it was a Sunday), reserve your table prior to your visit. Loads of indoor and outdoor seating available. The food and my drink tasted fantastic. There's a lot on offer to shop (fresh meat & veggies, paintings, toys, and books).

I popped in as I was passing on Sunday afternoon and was served by a very friendly team. This was honestly the best smoked salmon and soft cheese sandwich I’ve had, you could tell how fresh the ingredients are and the cakes too are delicious! Added as a bookmark for whenever I’m out this way- see you again!

Great place to eat and shop. We went here for lunch when visiting the area to explore the nearby abandoned sawmill. Lunch starts at 12 and offers a nice selection of soups, sandwiches, cakes and a pretty decent kids menu. You can have a sandwich with crisps and salad for £10 or replace the salad and crisps for soup for the same price. All our food and drinks were delicious. The service was excellent throughout with all the staff polite and friendly. The cafe has lots of nooks and cranny’s with seating which gives a really homely and relaxing place to eat. Amongst the tables are items for sale like local foods, gifts and artwork. Well worth a visit.

Busy place but easy to see why when the coffee and cakes taste as good as they look whilst overlooking Clachnaben Plenty seating but if wanting to sit inside id recommend booking a table as it was full on a Tuesday lunchtime which can only be a good thing

Stopped off here for a late lunch following a big hike. Great service, very clean everywhere. Fabulous selection of soups, sandwiches and breakfast and lunch options not forgetting the cakes and scones. Something for everyone. The farm shop is stocked with a brilliant range of produce, meat and multiple store cupboard items. Not to mention the art and gift selections. Really with stopping off your route to Aberdeen or Balmoral to experience a nice breakfast, lunch or tea ….or even just shopping!

Last week, we visited the Finzean Estate and Farm Shop and had a wonderful breakfast. The staff were very friendly, and the shop offered a variety of small gifts, beautiful seasonal flowers, and local delicacies. It’s an adorable place! Definitely recommend!

The Clatterin Brig is a gem for lovers of traditional Scottish cuisine. Their Cullen Skink soup was a hearty delight, paired perfectly with a warm bread roll. My iced latte hit the spot, especially in the summer heat. The service was top-notch, with friendly waitresses who kept the atmosphere lively and welcoming. The ambiance was just right, with cool air conditioning, pleasant music, and lovely Scottish decor adding to the charm. The toilet facilities were very clean, and the free Wi-Fi was a great bonus. With plenty of parking, indoor and outdoor seating, and its close location to Cairn O Mount, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended for its friendly vibe and delicious food!

Great find. Greeted by friendly staff and shown to a tablecas soon as we entered. Great choice of food items on the menu and a specials board too. Great size of portions too. Cakes are superb too. Staff were all very friendly and attentive.

Really nice location with a walk close by to burn all the extra calories you've just eaten. The food was great and the prices were not bad either, worth paying a visit, would highly recommend.

This place might be remote but it is a busy place. It is wonderful to have a restaurant near the Cairn o'Mount. When I arrived they were fully booked but the lady granted me an hour to enjoy something to eat. They have a wide variety if dishes and some very tempting cakes. I was delighted to get the opportunity to be here. I would certainly say if you plan to come to book in advance otherwise you may have to sit outside. I had the full breakfast which was lovely and the prices are very reasonable. One final comment is that the staff were very pleasant and I managed my food well within the hour.

This was a lovely cafe with a very nice family feeling to it. We had the chicken chorizo and the chicken feta grilled sandwiches and they were delicious! Would probably stop again next time we're in Banchory, their coffee and sweet treats looked very nice as well. Lovely people as well so it was a really nice discovery.

Desperate for a coffee as we drove through Banorchy from the Cairngorms headed to Edinburgh we spied this cafe and decided to grab a takeaway coffee. Without doubt the best coffee I have had since leaving Australia 6 weeks ago. The owner knew his stuff, roasts their own coffee and knocked out a smashing cup. So good I had to go back for a second before hitting the road. Conversation was great, a wonderful 15 minute break on a long drive. So thankful to have accidentally picked this cafe…highly recommend

Popped in for breakfast and was not disappointed. Had the bagel, packed to the gunnels with bacon, egg, chorizo and spinach - delicious! Friendly staff, too. Highly recommended!

Super delicious and welcoming place to stop for a quick lunch. Grilled sandwiches might be some of the best in Scotland, staff were kind and service was impeccable. 10/10 all around.
