Lovely atmosphere, great service & food! All the food taste was excellent. Restaurant was expensive though. Food was tasty and healthy. This place is a unique and for this reason it’s perfect for special occasions or celebrations. Recommended for dinner compared to lunch. Location is around 15-20 minutes by tram from the Essen Central Station ( Straßenbahn Essen: 107). Tram station is very nearby.

We have orderd candle night dinner because of my Hausband birthday and it was perfekt. Although we eat no pork, there was possible to have meat menu with other meat possibilities. All contents were chosen professionally and each plate was were well designed and tasted very delicious. All vegetables and other cooked contents were fresh. 3 different waiters served our dinner menu. One of them with glasses which I can not remember his name was really professional, emotional and friendly. Two others brought our drinks and food without explanation about name and contents. It seems that they were Barman and not food waiters. I recommend this place and their suprise menu for special occasion like anniversary, birthday and so on. I have 2 recommends for restaurants: 1. a good Music makes this place more attractive and 2. the dessert needs also a drink to serve. Like caffee or something like that. They bring drink beside starter and main menu, but for desert unfortunately nothing.

We had an event dinner at the place, the food and drinks were amazing, the place however was extremely warm with the AC was not turned on.

Lovely setting and a good steak (missed some oomph and charcoal taste, tbh). Decent (not awesome) options of cuts. The house red wine is very good. The desserts are also good. On the plus side, they're open until 10pm (kitchen included!), which is an ideal option for hungry travellers!

Steaks were insanely good, but still a very disappointing experience because of 1 waiter: The gentleman with glasses that was mostly serving outside, was very hasty. We both wanted to order the same thing, so my girlfriend let me say it. This man didn’t want to hear it, turned his back to me and only wanted to listen to my girlfriend. When she was ordering, he would litteraly get irritated if she didn’t answer within 2 seconds. After, when paying, he got angry when i didn’t tip because of his rude way of taking orders. Very very unprofessional. I’m sorry to the owners of the restaurant for this review, but I had to speak my mind.

The best restaurant I’ve been in in Essen! Great food and wine, and lovely environment! We were very welcomed and the service was exceptional. The waitress was very patience and kind, spoke English perfectly. Definitely coming back - highly recommend.

We had two burgers and two drinks and ended up paying €75!!! If you ask for spicy sauce, they even charge extra. Honestly, it’s not worth the price so sorry

Newly opened restaurant. Good quality meat. Ambiance is very nice. Lots of space inside. So tables aren't crammed next to each other. Dessert was lovely. Especially the hot applecrumble. There is seating inside, upstairs and outside at the terrace.

What a disaster. Our group of 80 people had agreed on a fixed menu months in advance, with an average price of €22 per dish. But what we got was far from that... I waited 1.5 hours for my meal—and I was lucky, because others had to wait even longer! On top of that, there was only one vegetarian option. Then came the bill. Not only were we charged for tap water we never ordered, but sides like potatoes and gravy suddenly turned out to be extra. We ended up paying at least €8 more per person, which adds up to over €600 in outright rip-off! And as if that wasn’t bad enough, there were items on our bill that we never ordered. To make matters worse, the cashier was completely incompetent. My order had to be re-entered three times, as if she didn’t know what she was doing. It all felt very suspicious, like I was being forced to pay without anything actually being deducted from the bill. And the cherry on top? The next day, multiple people in our group suffered from stomach problems. Apparently, food hygiene is not a priority here. This restaurant is a DISGRACE. Deceptive practices, terrible service, and possibly unsafe food. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else!

Excellent food without any doubt. Simply fresh and delicious. Staff are very friendly of course. However the kitchen seemed to have trouble keeping up to pace although the restaurant was only half full. Had to wait almost an hour for the main meal

One of the worst dining experiences. Fish is slightly below average. Chicken for my daughter was bone dry and hard like rock, she can’t even swallow it. Very small portion, portion for side dish is a joke. Fine dining price, but food is a huge disappointment. 100% overpriced! Dorade is the cheapest fish on the menu with 30 euro. Other fish like Steinbut or Loup de mar costs 40 to 50 euro. The average price of main course is over 40 euro. We have 5 people including one kid, none of us were satisfied. The management concept is a total rip off. The only highlight was the bread serving at the beginning and the decoration of the restaurant.

You choose a sauce and then the various vegetables, meats and extras, then it's cooked and served to your table a real fresh - as many times as you like. Wow! I love this restaurant. The food is so fresh and you have plenty to choose from. The concept is pick what you want and then the chef will cook it for you with your chosen sauce. You can either choose all you can eat, have a one off meal or choose items from the menu. The staff are all really nice and the restaurant has a chilled vibe and is really cosy. There are lots of drinks to choose from, alcoholic and non alcoholic, beers, wines and cocktails. I have to mention I was blown away when I saw Chang from Thailand on the menu. I've been to the Mongo's in Dortmund and i totally loved it. The one in Essen did not dissapoint.

I was expecting a proper Mongolian grill restaurant. It is however a generic Asian fusion restaurant, however a very good one i might add. The concept is quite interesting, you pick your raw food of choice and marinade, and they do the cooking for you, so it is worth having the all you can eat option (at around 29 EUR) rather than the a la carte ones, just so that you can explore the many marinades they offer in combination with an abundance of fresh options in the food ingredients open bar. You can find anything from carrot and tofu to clams, seabass or zebra and kangaroo meat, so perhaps worth pacing yourself in terms of ratio sizes while you create the assortment for grilling. The desert selection is also worth trying but the platter was more than sufficient for four people. besides the food abundance i particularly liked the wine selection. Service was very good! Perhaps worth mentioning that a subtle grill smell will impregnate your clothes. An enjoyable experience that was worth it all in all. I think it's a restaurant you should visit when in Essen.

Eating at Mongo's Restaurant is easily a highlight of any visit to Essen. The food is fantastic, and you can opt in for a buffet style eating where you pick ingredients, seasoning, and sauces from a raw bar, and a chef cooks your food for you. It's insanely fun, and tasty! They also feature a great selection of Asian beer, and other beverages. Their speciality dessert is coconut covered deep-fried home made vanilla ice cream, and simply heavenly! I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

The food tastes fine, kind of generic "Asian-fusion", whilst I was looking for "Mongolian". So I was a little disappointed... One plus point is the fact that they had some unusual meat options such as camel and rabbit. The dessert tasting selection was absolutely delicious, though. It's worth a trip just for the deep fried I've cream alone.

Good service. One of the better Mongolian BBQ i have seen with a large selection of vegetables, fish and meat, which can be combined with various sauce that are both hot, sweet or fresh in tast.

Had a meal here after an event at the Zollverein. The restaurant is quite large with tables inside and outside on a terrace. The menu is mainly Pizzas and Pasta, with some fish, salad, and grill options also. The service was below average with our food taking some while and basic things we asked for, like a glass for the water we ordered being forgotten. I also asked for some ice for my coke and again it never arrived. The food was again average, I had a spicy salami pizza and it was very wet and soggy and not overly tasty. A colleague ordered the tuna pizza and he returned it as the tuna tasted 'off'. Basically we were not overly impressed with Mezzo Mezzo.

Overall the restaurant provided very nice dining experience~ I ordered carbonara spaghetti and salmon fillets. The carbonara spaghetti was a bit salty. The salmon fillets taste good, it was crispy and juicy. The environment of the restaurant was relaxing. Nice location that it only takes 5 minutes walk from the UNESCO- Welterbe Zollverein to the restaurant.

Incredible food! Everything we had was just great. Had the best vegetarian meal of my life (by accident, but the carpeletti is amazing) and would order it again without hesitation.

They are racist. One of the waiter there threw the doggy bag on our table, and said it's a joke. We didn't feel it's right so we argued and what he said was just "excuse me", instead of polite apologize. I will rate this as Zero stars.

The problem with the Spaghetti Carbonara is that it tastes so good, and the sizing is so large, that you cannot stop eating, and you will not need another meal for two days.

I would strongly recommend this restaurant. They serve perfect cut meat with a perfect flamed grilled taste. The meals in portion are more than enough! A big recommendation is the garlic bread, I would suggest to take an extra piece of garlic bread instead of the fries or a stuffed potatoe with sour cream. We were helped bij Sebastian, very nice and friendly guy!

Never again! My steak was so chewy, Potato over cooked and a bit burn. Choice of Salad even more confused when it was included and I wanted extra sidedish, but i can only choose to pay extra for side-dish and lost my salad!? Or I have to pay more!? staff wasn’t friendly to be asked for explanation the third time so let it be! Btw 70 Euro for 2 is a big expensive for expensive we got. I would consider it more average, not just a nice dining meal.

Had a nice dinner here with colleagues. The rib eye was really tasty and the sides including the option for bruschetta were good as well. Safe bet for dinner.

I actually came to this restaurant because of its rating, but I would have to think that people have been a bit kind in their rating of this location (chain restaurant?). We were greeted kindly at the front door and were certainly looking forward to a meal out of the rain while at the Christmas Market. The salad bar is right at the entrance, everyone walking by it, and I thought it a bit strange that people do not make their own salad. Maybe it was an all-you-can-eat salad bar at one time, but waiters/waitresses make your salad in this area and bring it to you (???). The salad was good and our meal was quick to follow. We ordered the T-Bone steak for two (asked for Medium Rare cook). Each person gets a plate with their sides on it, and the steak is on another plate. This is where things started to turn for the worse. The presentation was terrible - literally a steak on a plate (see pic). I paid for one of the biggest items and this is how it comes out? This was the least of my concerns. Next was the simple fact that the T-Bone steak did not have a T-Bone?!?!?! The waiter actually tries to tell me to picture the bone and how meat located in each area would be different. I did not pay for imagination. Next was the cook. The outside of the "Strip" was about right for 1/2inch. After that it went downhill. I'm not sure how the heat is on the grill, but the rest of the steak was rare to almost Blue (especially near the bone and the "Tenderloin" portion. My last concern was the amount of sinew through the steak. I could literally not cut it in some spots due to the mess (from lacking the bone?). All I can say is that I have had many steaks in my days, and this was one of the worst I have had. I will end on a positive note that the taste was actually very good where prepared properly, and they did remove the cost of our two drinks for the mess of our steak. In the end, when your business is steaks, they should be the best cuts, and the chefs should nail how well done a steak is.

The quality of the food in this restaurant is okay, but here only regulars are served and treated well and fairly. The prices for food and drinks are completely overpriced. Tourists and trade fair visitors are potential victims, for whom as much money as possible should be taken out of their pockets. The chef tries to get his menu to the man without even handing out a menu card and reacts extremely unfriendly when the guests want to read the menu beforehand. I have experienced a lot in all my travels, but the behavior of the owner and the staff in this restaurant is a negative highlight.

This is the best Italian restaurant I have ever been so far when I travel to Essen. This night we didn’t have the menu but every meal was really delicious! There were some creative dishes I haven’t seen and tried before. A perfect feast for after a tiring day.

Authentic Italian restaurant with pretty good food. Great selection of wines and attentive service. Some dishes can be a little too salty. Do check price of dishes during ordering when in doubt.

La Grappa, Rellinghauser Str. 4, 45128 Essen, Germany. Visited in June 2024. We had a few drinks and bread before our friends arrived. We got the me us and we're surprised at the high prices.  We were going to pay and go but they offered a deal. We accepted and the gnocchi was fantastic, a 50 year old recipe which did not disappoint.  To sum it up great food and service but prices are very high compared to similar restaurants in my experience.

I ordered a poke bowl at a "New York" style steakhouse in Germany, wasnt sure what to expect, but it was fabulous!

Very good restaurant in center of Essen. Services very ok. We had "John Wayne cut" NY stripe loin Prime, which was good. Prices are ok. Restaurant is very beauty and a lot of choices for drink. Next time will come again.

It was absolutely delicious. The meat was tender and juicy. The sweet potato fries were crisp and very fresh. Ordered 2 sauces, they were quite big so 1 would've sufficed. The gorgonzola sauce was amazing, the pepper sauce was a bit flat. Overall it was amazing, would def come here again next time I'm in Essen.

Visited on a weekday, was rather quiet. Food is excellent thought, setting is also very cool and location is decked out in memorabilia apt to the restaurants name. As nice as the food and decor is nothing can take away from the price of the meals and ambitious menu that offers no sides with already expensive mains. If you want to treat yourself this is your spot.

This was without a doubt the worst steakhouse I’ve ever been too. They literally didn’t know how to prepare a steak. We ordered two rib eye steaks, one medium, the other well done. They both came out very very rare. We sent them back so they could cook more. Then they came again still both rare. The photo shows the steak that’s supposed to be well done AFTER we had already sent it back. We also ordered a Caesar’s Salad as a starter and it was the wirst I’ve ever had. The dressing clearly came from a supermarket and wasn’t made fresh. It also had tomatoes and cucumbers in it which is very strange. We left without eating even a single bite of our steaks. We still had to pay for all the sides (which we also didn’t touch) and the bottle of wine we had ordered (too warm by the way). This restaurant should not be in business. Sorry to be so direct, but you our Friday night experience.

The meat is not too bad. But the service is the worst. Extremely rude and arrogant since we entered the place. We waited over 30 minutes just to get the food list. Then after 1 hour we received the food, but two filets were missing and, when we informed them, they said it was our fault. Avoid this place.

This is the worst restaurant I have been to in my life. The waiter was incompetent, did not want to explain any of the dishes, and didn’t offer any advice when an older person asked him. He just wanted us to order. Claiming other customers will be coming soon and they won’t have time… we decided to leave without eating. As we were leaving, he grabbed and shook my friends daughter by the arm, making her cry. Disgusting. Edit: I highly recommend Nirvana Cafe & Restaurant which is on the other side of the road. They have great food and friendly staff.

Nice steakhouse in Essen. Place is quite elegant. Is strange that out side they have a big sign with a menú both in German and English but inside the paper menu is only German... Weird. 3 stars for the price. If I can accept to pay 30 euro for a filet, I believe that 7,90 euro for 75 cl of still water is too much. Recommended if you are reach

Chaotic and stressfull. We walked out before even ordering food. It took forever to get two expensive aperitifs. One was wrong as they forgot to put prosecco in it, the other one, a gin tonic, hardly had any gin in it. Don´t get me started on the pretty rude head of staff or whatever he was. Advising customers to go to McDo when your restaurant falls apart is perhaps not a good strategy. Conclusion: never again.

The fries are super tasty in house, plus the meals and salads are also great. A definite vouch for them, and would recommend 👌 The ambiance is so soothing and elegant, with all those bamboo tree architecture look and seats had been very comfy.

Hans im Glück did not disappoint! The highlight of our meal was definitely Omas Geheimnis, a decadent cake with creamy goodness and ice cream. The fries and onion rings were crispy perfection, and the burger was a satisfying treat.

Unexpected visit on a Friday evening, but they managed to make place for the three of us. The food was good, as is to be expected (they only serve burgers and a simpel salad). Service was fast, helpfull and kind. It is a but crowded and noisy, which is true for most places in Rűttenscheid. Approximately 60 eu for 3 burgers, 2 bowls of fries, 1 salad and 3 cocktails.

Wow, the cocktails, hamburgers and fries are just great! The evening menu with the cocktail and fries is a sweet deal. The service was fast and you won’t leave this place hungry.

When I go to Germany I have to dine in a Brauhaus. Just the perfect setting to enjoy the German kitchen. The dishes are traditional the portions are big and the beer is great. This Schweinshaxen was absolutely delicious and would go back for this. The dessert was mediocre though. The service is very quick and I recommend this place

We celebrated a friend's wedding here. The staff were so amazing, especially the guy who spoke English for those who were from the UK. The food was so yummy, I kept eating beyond being full. All our needs were catered to.

Very friendly staff, top in decor and ambiance. But the food was only mediocre and way too expensive. I frequently have spanish dishes, and was not impressed at all in this restaurant. My mushroom pasta had sands in it (mushrooms not washed enough, the dish was only half eaten), i told the waiter about it but they didn't offer to take it off the bill. Tsk tsk...

This resteraunt is the best ever, food 5 star, service excellent, ambiance warm and welcoming, can highly recommend. 😀

Really delicious! The lunch menu is such a good value. Both the lentil soup and the chicken rotting were superb. A great solo dining experience.

We ordered Ceylon chicken curry, roti and Long Island iced tea. The Ceylon chicken curry was very special. It tasted what authentic home cooked chicken curry in India tastes like. Light and not spicy yet flavourful. Not the typical restaurant mush you normally get. The roti was paratha but we couldn’t complain as it was one of the best parathas I’ve ever had in Germany. The LIIT was very potent. I’m Indian and this was my impression of the place. 10/10 would recommend. A bit pricy but one main dish is enough for 2 people with a side.

First time being here and it was great! It's preffered to make a reservation just to make sure there is a table available. The food tastes amazing and the restaurant is very cozy and comfortable. I also recommend cocktails, especially during happy hour. The prices are a bit high, but the entire experience was nevertheless great!

This is the only Srliankan restaurants we have visted multiple times for dinner. The quality of the food is really good even though it's a bit pricey. I specially want to mention the excellent service of this restaurant. The staff is really friendly and helps us choose what is good and explains about the dish in detail. They have happy hours for cocktails from 9 pm onwards for 5.5 euros for large ones, which is really great. One must try their zombie and long island cocktail, it's really worth it. Kothu Porotta is really good and filling. All their chicken and veggies are good. I didn't like the beef curries that much. And for grilled items, Madras grilled chicken was nice. Please note that they are closed on Wednesday's but open on all other days.

Visiting Essen and was looking for a burger joint. Food was good and service were good. The atmosphere was the negative. It was rather loud and the tables were too close together. Looks the the space should hold 1 or two tables less. Went there for Dinner, and dined inside.

The burgers are amazing! Really good. However the service and the waiting time kind of ruined the experience. Service was friendly but often were busy doing other things so it was hard to get their attention. It also seems like they get a lot of takeout orders that are prioritized over dine in guests. Maybe next time I'll order to go as well... As for the burgers, these are some of the best I've tried around here. The sauces are really tasty and the meat is freshly cooked. They have a lot of vegan options as well but I didn't try them this time. Very different from the typical frozen patty that you might get in other places.

This was a fantastic experience! We were given lots of personal attention, and we really felt appreciated as guests. The food was literally amazing, the different tastes coming together very well. Our favorites were the king prawns starter, the St. Peter's fish main course (especially the amazingly delicious mushrooms in that dish!!), and the creme brulee dessert. The food arrived quickly, and we weren't kept waiting too long between dishes. There was a wedding happening at the same time in another part of the restaurant, but we didn't feel negatively affected by that--apparently, the staff could handle the wedding as well as the rest of the guests rather well. We sat outside and had a breath-taking view of the lake. We felt like the price of the meal was justified given the quality of the food and the service we received. It was truly a fantastic evening and a great culinary experience!

Friendly staff, nice ambience but mediocre food. The location is quite central. They have a selection of pizzas in the menu and a decent oven but the taste was disappointing. Slightly above frozen pizza quality. Ordered anti pasti plate including veggies, olives and mozzarella. All bland. The salad was also not significant. Supposed to come with olive oil and balsamic vinegar but came totally dry. Hundred meters to the right there is L'osteria. Even though it is a chain restaurant it is better and definitely more Italian than this place. They have decent pizzas..

What a great place. We walked in for a meal and have enjoyed ourselves tremendously. It was good pizza in a real Italian wood oven. Desserts where great and the staff was super friendly and helpfull. Although very busy the waiting times were not very long. To bad we didn't stay longer in Essen because we would have gone back.

Food and service were both really great. We ordered the Pizza Funghi & Prosciutto and Pizza Hawaii, plus a Pasta Pollo & Pomodoro. For drinks we had a Piña Colada and still water. The pasta was particularly good and true al dente, not undercooked like some other places.

Fantastic food! I had pasta salmon and spinach cream sauce, which was delicious. The pizza's here are also fresh, homemade and just as great. The service was superb, friendly and on the ball, immediately bringing in an English menu and talking English very well too. The prices are also amazing and I was amazed at how low it was for the quality and service delivered. The restaurant is very well dressed and feels cozy yet has enough room. I've come here each year for several years now during the Essen Spiel fair, and quality had never wavered.

Unfortunately one of the worst dining experiences we've had. Arrived at 7.40 and received menus pretty quickly. Then about half an hour to take our order including drinks. About half an hour later our drinks arrived. Half an hour after this we ordered more drinks no food had arrived yet. Half an hour later we were brought bread as an apology for the food being delayed. At this point nearly all the tables in our room had paid and left, it was very obvious we had no food. We eventually asked a different waitor who said there had been a mess up and our food was being started. He at this point offered us some cheese and meat which came quickly. The rest of the meal ended up arriving over 2 and a half hours after we arrived and we ate at 20 past 10. The food was not worth the wait. We at no point were annoyed with the wait staff but felt that other than the cheese and meat there wasn't much done to apologise, like offering to give us our drinks especially as we only ordered the second lot as we'd been waiting for 2 hours. Would not recommend.

If it’s happen to be your first time, you can try the 3-course surprise menu (it cost only €68 including wine). Normally I can say both me and my husband are eating quite a lot and perhaps come home still hungry even after 5-course meal in other fine dining restaurant. But not in Hannapel. The food was well prepared the personnel was nice and friendly. I had a lovely evening, thank you! In greater detail, I was positively surprised to find this place in Essen. I honestly had my doubts first but when I was making the reservation but they delivered. Quite frankly I haven't found a lot of places in essen where I happily spent more money on food and actually get in exchange a menue that is simply tasty while not being pretentious overkill. The 5 course menue was diverse and all the ingredients perfectly seasoned and prepared. The portion sizes were noted as too small by other people before me, however, I cannot agree. In comparison to other places, e.g. madame pic or Blumenthals restaurants, I found them quite sizeable. As I said, all ingredients were very enjoyable. The only note I would make, nitpickingly, I thought it contained a lot of different animal protein all at once. Sometimes mixing two "star ingredients" such as turbot and unagi in one dish was overwhelming for me. While I very much enjoyed the dish I secretly thought it overshadowed each other and I could have been happy with one of the two or less of the two together. It relates to balancing for me personally. Same with the dessert, while I thought all the flavors play incredibly well i was personally overwhelmed by the very acidic sauce. I was missing a neutralizing component, balancing all the sour and acidic flavors. Nevertheless, this is a personal, not very objective point :) that should not stop anyone to visit. Lastly, my only real criticism, was the cappuccino. This is something not many places get right and it seems to be neglectable. The ´Eckkneipe´ of yore welcomes the guest with stylish ambience, elegance and unspoken wish ´feel at home.` What follows can only be done hard to describe, you have to experience. I don't think I have eaten somewhere else in Germany a more authentic Italian food and tasted better Cofee (which kept me awake the whole night). The place is on 2 levels and it also has a terrace. Outstanding pizza, delicious bruschetta, and tasty vitello tonnato. Food quality continues to be v good at this place. Though, the Thai curry is a bit of a mismatch here. Funnily enough, a friend ordered the chicken curry, and basically it‘s woked veggies plus chicken in a pretty mediocre curry sauce. Not a surprise really, but I wonder why it‘s even on an Italian menu. Unsure about the cherry blossom theme in the autumn, and overall it‘s a little too much decor and installation of everything for me here, incl the dry/artificial flowers dangling from the ceiling. Less would be more. Also, the high noise level makes it a little difficult to chat with friends over dinner. Hence only four stars for the entire experience.

The sea fruit was not cleaned - we found sand in the plate. Conclusion : Far away from the reviews. Way to expensive and overly hyped. If you know your food you will not enjoy it. I would not have written this comment if there would be one or two mistakes as this happens in every business. My Husband and I ate here last weekend and the food was absolutely Outstanding. 10/10. Excellent quality, beautifully presented, decent portion sizes, absolutely Wonderful. We were delighted with everything, from start to finish. The service was impeccable. Just the perfect amount of care and attention given to us, without it being over bearing. It was an incredible experience. I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt absolutely compelled to do so for this absolute Gem of a Restaurant, as it deserves all recognition. We stumbled upon this restaurant by mere coincidence and we're very happy we did. Great and accommodating service, yummy food and a lovely atmosphere. The tapas are a revelation and we paid about half of what we pay at our usual tapas place. Amazing value for the quality of the food! I wouldn't be surprised if they end up becoming a household name for German foodies.

Did not wait long to be served, meal showed up on time. Cannot go wrong with the good food here and the costs are fair. New dishes added on a monthly basis, we were totally happy with the selection here. Do not quite often venture out for lunch, found this place unintentionally. Lovely staff and good quality food. Service was fantastic and absolutely loved the food, will be coming back.

Overpriced cheap products. Although the food tastes good I do not see any reason in paying 3.50€ for a few olives or another 3.50€ for a piece of bread which normally is complementary in bigger amounts than 2 pieces. Price-performance ratio is just more than bad. I paid 30€ and went to the next restaurant afterwards because I didn't manage to be full.

Great selection of South Asian dishes with lots of Malaysian and Indonesian influence. The food is really good and the staff was very friendly. The prices are also very reasonable and you definitely get your money's worth. We had dinner with 6 and paid about 130 eur all together.

Yesterday I went there with friend! They have both Chinese and German menus, which is very convenient. And moreover! It should be emphasized that 10% off recently! BUT you must pay in cash. I strongly recommend my favorite drink: Kiba. It is mix of banana juice and cherry juice. My friend drink Thai beer, very refreshing. If you like refreshing beer, try it! I have always liked to eat their eggplant. I used to order the spicy one. But yesterday I try the Nanyang-style roasted eggplant. I love it! Recommend! We ordered a new dish, not on the menu, it is chicken with salt and pepper. Man can choose the spiciness, we asked for slightly spicy. The chicken is very tender. There are also small pieces of onions and peppers. I don’t know the name, so I call it: Beef plus Tofu. Recommend!

Nice place on walking distance (10-15 min) from the main station. Spices are well balanced and portions are reasonable for the price. On Monday you don't have to reserve, it surprised me how many free places it had given the quality. Kind service!

Awesome Southeast Asian food with great service. I didn’t get to check the menu before I went to the place so I was quite worried if my vegetarian friend can get something nice too. Apparently, they offer a wide variety of vegetarian dishes too and he said it’s super good. Would recommend.

This was a Michelin rated steak house, quite high-end, and the steaks reflected that. I got the 500 gram ribeye rare, and it was cooked to perfection and was seasoned well also. The service was very good. The restraunt usually takes reservations, but when we went, we were able to walk right in without one, but that was because we showed up later in the evening mid week. My co-worker also got the 500 gram ribeye.

Relaxing-no rush ambience. Good service, very focused personnel. Wine was splendid. If I may add, it was my best tasting steak I had in about 2 years. The creme brûlée, in general, as dessert some might say is dull. But this one was also a first for me, I would recommend this if you want to experience a fruity change. I would definitely repeat this place. Perfect to sit down after a good days work and just wine down having a relaxed dinner.

The quality of the steaks was "PERFECT". I loved that place. Atmosphere was nice. But the service is a little bit slow. There was a one staff. But the chief was a professional. Steaks, potatoes, spinach, octopus,... I tried all of them. They were so delicious.

Came here with a child, mind you, the most well behaved child, place was empty, we were turned down because it was "full", sure it's been in the Michelin guide but it doesn't even have a single star, my son has eaten in much better places...

Bistecca Grillroom was a pleasant surprise for our first trip to Essen. We had king prawn and small tenderloin. The prawn's were the largest I have seen and were expertly prepared. The tenderloin at medium rare was very tender. Paired with a nice Bordeaux it was an excellent meal. The wait staff and owner were very attentive. I should also mention the tuna tartare was very good beginning the meal.

Extremely good service, almost a consultation on what to eat. The meat was grilled to the point, perfect!

We love this place. We have been here several times. whenever we are in Essen we visit here for a nice dinner. The food is very tasty and the prices are reasonable. I do so enjoy going here. Once every year there is a large tradefair in Essen that I have visited the last 18 years and the last Ten I make sure to visit Artemis. We had dinner here because of the good reviews on Google but unfortunately we were disappointed by the lack of service. First of all the menu was in German and second, the waiter didn’t want to help us translate anything. While she took our order she was talking to other employees and guests and didn’t answer our questions. Also i think it was overpriced. The food was ok and the portions were fine but the noodles lacked of taste. You can’t pay with credit card as foreigner here . The duck was unfortunately a bit dry . I had to run around in a mall to find an atm, no help from the waitress. Honestly there is much room for improvement. 100 euros for 4 persons . They forgot my food and made one order wrong . Best was the spring rolls

My partner and I recently visited this Vietnamese restaurant for the first time, and it was such a wonderful experience. The staff was incredibly welcoming—even though they didn’t speak much English, they made every effort to communicate and make us feel at home. We started with the appetizers (the ones you see in the picture), and they were absolutely amazing—full of flavor and beautifully presented. We had never tried Vietnamese food before, but it truly impressed us! We also ordered a main course, which was just as incredible. Just a heads-up: the portions are quite generous, so come hungry or consider sharing! Overall, we had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend it to anyone curious to try authentic Vietnamese cuisine.

Preface: only accepts cash payment Cozy place with phenomenal food. Starters, mains and desserts are all smash hits here. The only trouble is that I couldn't try every single thing on the menu. Strong recommendations are to get the shared starters platter and absolutely try the udon noodles as a main. They would be perfect in and of itself without any veggies or protein added. Parking nearby is perfectly valid as it's free after 20:00 during weekdays 10/10 but make sure you have cash ready as the nearby ATMs close at 22:00

Nice place with a very delicious food. Always full, so I recommend to do a reservation if you really want to go. Also they don’t accept cards, only cash. Kinda annoying to have this in 2023 :( But the food it’s worth it ! Maybe some portions can be a little small, so I recommend also getting an appetizer :)

Really wanted to like this place, but the food was overpriced and not filling for the price point. Ordered a salmon bun. The Vietnamese drip coffee, however, was excellent, though the most expensive I've ordered in all of Germany (so far). Fresh basil was nice. Not sure for the price I would go back.

One star ist too much. I have ordered ones a salad bawl in my work place and after one hour I just called them and I was told that they have canceled my order! Today at home I wanted to give them a second chance and after 1 hour and 30 minutes still did not get my Salad so I canceled my order myself. Worth experience ever. We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Südtiroler Stuben! The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the service was excellent. We ended our meal with their Apfelstrudel, and it was truly the best we have ever had. The pastry was perfectly flaky, the apple filling was rich with just the right amount of sweetness and spice, and it was served warm with a generous scoop of delicious vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. It was the perfect treat and the highlight of our visit. We can't wait to go back!

Beautiful place to have a cup of coffee and enjoy the Baldeneysee view. I tried regular coffee with Milch and the portion was enough for two people. Service is fast and staff was friendly.

On a lovely summer day in Germany, you should visit Baldeneysee and you must eat at Südtiroler Stuben. Next by the lake, with a lovely view accompanied by a nice breeze and amazing food. I had a tasty fish plate with fresh vegetables and potato. I enjoyed every bite👍 Plus the staff is so friendly and welcoming especially my Kosovan waiter is the best. I am coming here again for sure, well done👌

Nice restaurant. I was there for supper. Good pizza! Applestrudel with cream, ice cream and vanilla sauce was amazing. Located Next to lake, Baldeneysee which is reservoir for a dam. Forest on other side of lake adds to magical views.

The place is nice and the waitress was very nice but the food, oh dear God! The cooked meat had no spices tasted and looked like something you eat when you are sick, the burger was meh and the pasta thing (cannot remember the German word) was edible but so much oil and didn’t seem fresh. So definitely no tasty food!

The first time i went they didn't speak any English and my German wasn't good enough. They don't have any gluten free beer and didn't seem to understand gluten free at all. They recommended Weiner schnitzel covered in breadcrumbs which i scraped off. The second time the waiter spoke perfect English and gave us an English menu! I was able to choose something i was able to eat. The food was great the second time. The first time, it was okay. I haven't found any gluten free beer anywhere in Belgium, Nederland, or Germany so that's not a criticism of this place, and you can't expect Germans to speak English for your benefit, do neither is that. Our German friends found it hard to understand the German menu as it is good from a different part of the country. Bring your own or drink the delicious German wine of you are gluten free and enjoy the beautiful setting and sit outside watching the yachts go sailing by. We will of course visit this lovely place again.

The view from here is one of the best in essen with lots of water sports right in front of the restaurant. The restaurant itself has both outside and inside sitting with the outside being very popular when the weather is dry which is most days except winter. The food is wide ranging with great choices to choose from and tastes excellent. The food is typical good quality german comfort food as you would expect from the name of the restaurant. The staff are good humoured, very friendly and helpful and the service is also very efficient. An excellent place to sit, enjoy the food, drink and splendid views. One of my favourite places for Sunday lunchtime.

The saddest Korean meal I ever had. The japchae hardly had any dangmyeon noodles in it. It tasted like a random takeout drenched in sauce. The beef bulgogi was grey and soggy after cooking on the portable grill in the passageway by the waiter. It‘s almost €20 and came with a side of three tiny (!!) banchan. It was impossible to share these. I got sambal oelek instead of gochujang when I asked for hot sauce. Gochujang is the staple sauce in every Korean restaurant but not here. The service felt rushed, and the plating‘s not very appealing.

Service 8/10: very friendly service, you could get warm , homey fealing from the korean waitors and waitress here . However food came quite slow . Food 8/10: the first appertizers were spot on. The ku man du was crispy and flavorful, the soup was well seasoned and packed with flavor from the broth and seaweed . However the main dish : duck and beef curry was just ok and the flavor wasn’t as good as we expected. Duck is a little bit dry and the sauce a bit to salty to my taste. Beef curry needed more bold flavors. The highlight of the dinner was dessert , walnut icecream with raspberry sauce ,which was simply delicious.loved the natural walnut flavor .

Tasty vegan buffet 🌱 The food at all sattgrün locations is always well seasoned and delicious - unfortunately the variety of the dishes offered hasn’t changed in years. Absolutely fantastic! It has all kinds of warm and cold dishes for a fixed price per plate or a bowl. I filled my bowl with a variety of salads, pasta, and many more. The food is incredibly delicious and nutritious. If this place existed nearby my home, I'd come here all the time. No wonder this place was one of the highest rated place in Essen - or any city for that matter. If you are not certain about vegan food, try this place.

In a street full of many restaurants and pubs, Zucca is a healthy oasis, perfect either for your meal, a good coffee or a sweet bite. Their tables outside are perfect for warm days, and the service is great. For grapefruit lovers, a must try is their natural grapefruit juice. I had their goat cheese salad for lunch and it was perfect. A great portion, comes with toasted bread, tomato, toasted pine nuts, and a honey dressing. Price - €22 (Salad + Juice + Coffee)

Best place for brunch in Essen.

I recently had a late lunch at a cozy spot in RÜ, and it was an absolute delight. The chicken salad was fresh and flavorful, with the perfect balance of ingredients. What really stood out, though, was the dressing—it was exceptional! It had just the right blend of tanginess and richness, really bringing the whole dish together. Service was top-notch; the staff was friendly and efficient, making the dining experience smooth and enjoyable. Plus, the location in RÜ was ideal—perfect for a relaxed stroll after the meal. It’s a great place to unwind and enjoy good food in a charming setting. Overall, a fantastic lunch, and I’ll definitely be back for more!

Wow that was the scariest experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant anywhere in the world! Lorenzo was too busy with other patrons to bring us menus so after 10 minutes we helped ourselves. When we finally grabbed his attention and said we would like another table setting and a candle (like all the other tables in the house) his anger was obvious. He begrudgingly took our order and then we decided it was best to go elsewhere. We advised in Italian we were cancelling our order, placed 30 seconds prior.This infuriated him and he became abusive. Then showed his intolerance and ignorance towards foreigners when he heard English and Portuguese. As if that wasn’t enough he then gave us the finger repeatedly and swore to our faces. When we returned 5 minutes later to retrieve our umbrellas from outside the restaurant he returned to continue his show of psychotic behaviour. Funny that - he didn’t have 2 minutes to spare to bring menus to our table but was readily available for about 10 minutes of abusive and borderline criminal behaviour. Non ci vediamo piu! Think twice about letting a psychopath prepare a dinner for you!

Great experience in nice restaurant. Authentic Italian food as well as a great meal for any taste. The best bread in town. Freshly baken. Every detail is taken care of. Personnel is always in good spirits. Owner creates an atmosphere of genuine hospitality.

We go here roughly once a year, give or take, with a company outing because the concept works quite nicely for larger groups. The food is pretty decent, but I find it rather impressive that they consistently bring drinks orders to the wrong tables despite the fact that you order via an ipad linked to your table. Once would not be worth mentioning, but every time we eat here, about half the table ends up with seemingly random drinks. Now, you might think "ah, but they're a large group, maybe they just accidentally drinking each other's stuff", but no, having checked the bill afterwards there were multiple drinks nobody seemed to have ordered, as well as ordered drinks nobody ever received. Really weird.

The restaurant is well located, 10 minutes from the main train station of Essen if you go on foot, it is spacious, clean, comfortable, the service is excellent and efficient and the food is delicious, there are variety of dishes and the food is served almost immediately (the order is made by means of a tablet or which facilitates the service since you can ask for the times you want different dishes). The bathrooms are neat, it has a musical ambiance, a nice view is really nice to eat and a great evening in this restaurant.

All you can eat was worth it. It includes drinks, desserts, sushi, soup, hot items. Servers friendly and sushi is also good.

Noor Sushi is a delightful experience! The positive vibes, friendly staff, and exceptional sushi make every visit a culinary adventure. Highly recommended!

Tasty food | Service & atmosphere could be nicer

Noori is one of my favourites in Essen we come here as a family quite often. The all you can eat option is really good 10 rounds 5 plates each for all you can eat customers. The food is always fresh and of good standard the waiters are extremely friendly and attentive the atmosphere is also outstanding i would highly recommend it to everyone especially big groups !! Good night out

Love being here, the personnel always make you feel essential and I really like the menu variety. Cannot recommend the staff extremely enough - always approachable and helpful. No waiting around, a fun new spot to try for supper. My buddy and I really enjoyed the wide range of desserts and will be coming back once again for a special treat. The cost of the meal was significantly less than expected, my sister And I were really glad.

The atmosphere was a bit loud but what can you expect from a true Irish pub. The food is absolutely divine, I had the BBQ ribs and fries, and the service was quick and friendly. I love this place, have been coming here with my friends for a while and I will continue to come. (I wish they had Alcohol free Guinness though)

As far as Irish pubs go, this one is a classic. You instantly feel at home and welcome in the relaxed atmosphere and can speak English or German with the waitrons. The food is great value for money. Husband and I both had fish and chips and agreed that they were great - best tartar sauce ever!! We’ll definitely be back, thanks guys.

A few minutes ago, we visited this place around 10 PM as we were craving dessert. They have a really nice brown bread ice cream that we enjoy. When a staff member approached to take our order, we mentioned the ice cream, but he told us the kitchen was closed. Up until that point, the interaction was fine. However, what followed was completely unnecessary and rude — he remarked, “Come on, man, you come to an Irish pub and ask for ice cream? Is that what you come here for?” That comment was uncalled for and quite insensitive, especially towards regular customers like us who have been coming here for over four years. Isn’t it legal to have ice cream on pubs!! And why do they have the desserts section then?! If the kitchen is closed, we understand! It’s disappointing how one server’s attitude can change the entire experience. Very disrespectful and not something we expected from a place we’ve supported for so long.

Vindaloo is normally spicy, it was way too spicy. If a Telugu guy with you asks for yogurt after tasting it, trust me it's very spicy 😀 But chicken in vindaloo was hard and raw....had to leave it. Dal tarka was very good...star of the evening...exactly indian dhaba style Panee karahi was undercooked but their clientele is like 90% non Indians on a Saturday evening, so those customers won't know it. Passable. Service was excellent, funny with kids. Could be a great restaurant if they improve food quality a bit. Service was really prompt. Atmosphere was more like of 90's and 2000s indian restaurants outside India rather than 2020s style

As a Indian I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. One of the worst experiences about Indian food. The food was pathetic, we ordered chicken and lamb curry it was disaster. The rice was dried and was tasteless. The portion of curry is small and can serve only one person. The cost of food is average. Ambiance is average with some soft instrumental music. Seating arrangement was also provided outside. I dont recommend this place , Indian food is not like this .

The food was very ordinary , too oily. The mango lassi was more a coloured butter milk compared to what is served in other Indian resturants in Germany, artifical colours in lassi could be guessed by the first looks.

Very good and tasty Italian Restaurant. I've been there multiple times and the food was always very good. You can have a luch there for about EUR 5-7, which I find very appealing for that quality. Be prepared to wait a bit, but the food is worth it!!

A really nice place to have some Mexican food. Very well located and the service is great. Portion size is well balanced and drinks are great.

An amazing place, whether for a drink or a meal, this place offers a lot of options. The food was very delicious, the atmosphere was great and the staff was very friendly although there was a shortage of staff but maybe because it was a sunday evening. The Nachos Original were very delicious and crunchy. The Crispy Chicken Caesar Tacos were very tasty but small. The Fajita Pollo Poblano portion was very big but very delicious. The San Francisco cocktail was very refreshing. A must try restaurant!!

Lovely waitresses, excellent food. The portions are a tad small, but the ambiance and atmosphere make up for that. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options.
