Wine bar
If you're in the mood for a traditional German dining experience, Weinstube Hottum is a great choice. This cozy and quaint wine tavern offers a warm and intimate atmosphere, perfect for a romantic evening or gathering with friends. The menu features hearty and delicious German cuisine, complemented by a great selection of wines. The staff is known for being very friendly and the overall vibe of the restaurant is happy and welcoming.
We were so lucky to get a table! We didn’t have a reservation and were offered a 1 hour time limit which was totally fine. The atmosphere is so cozy with shared tables and lit candles and beautiful decor. We ordered a Riesling dry wine which was really good and I had the Weiner schnitzel with a potato cucumber salad that was excellent! My husband had the Frankfurter schnitzel with green sauce. Both meals were very delicious! Service was great! We appreciated getting in and was one of my best schnitzels of our 1 month trip! I loved the potato cucumber salad! A great alternative to fried potatoes! Reservations would be best as it is a small restaurant!

We had an absolutely unforgettable evening at Weinstube Hottum. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed like family. The host and owner personally helped us select a fantastic wine that paired perfectly with our meal, and every recommendation was spot-on. We tried the steak, the schnitzel, and the rump steak, and each dish was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and truly authentic. Sitting next to some of the host’s own family members made the experience even more special, adding to the warm and genuine atmosphere that you just can’t find everywhere. The combination of incredible food, thoughtfully chosen wine, and such heartfelt hospitality made the night one to remember. Weinstube Hottum is a gem in Mainz, and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone who wants an authentic and welcoming dining experience.

Great little wine bar in Mainz. We had the Schnitzel and rump steak. Both were excellent. My wife tried a local Riesling, which was very good. The service was excellent. The servers spoke English, so that was a plus. If you are in Mainz, I would highly recommend this place.
Mike M — Google review
The place feels very local, they offer a great variety of food and wine. I had the schnitzel, which was amazing, and the brie(served in a way I’ve never seen before). Everything was really good, and I’ll definitely go back. As for the service, I’m not sure..maybe it’s just the German style, or maybe it’s because I’m a tourist in what seems to be a spot for locals only 😬but they didn’t seem particularly happy to see me. Not unfriendly, but definitely not the warmest
Angela A — Google review
Absolutely delicious food in a cosy historic setting. One of the highlights of our trip. The empty plates speak for themselves!
Stuart G — Google review
The #1 Address in Mainz for Riesling and Handkäse in a quiet side street.
J C — Google review
This wine bar is a beautiful place with a lovely rustic atmosphere, friendly staff, and good wine. However, if you want some water with your wine, be prepared to pay for it — they don’t serve tap water for free, even though the tap water in Mainz is excellent. For me, that’s always over the line. They told me it’s common in Germany, but just a short walk away at Weinstube Schreiner, they happily offer water for free. Personally, this is a deal-breaker — I don’t go back to places that charge for water. But if that doesn’t bother you, though, it’s still a nice spot to enjoy a glass of wine in the very center of the old town.
Silvester T — Google review
Not only the food is great, the staffs are amazing. Even in the most busiest time, they listen with smile, no stress and you feel you are very well taken care of. We always have great time here. Thank you 💕

Steak house
Steakhaus El Chico in Mainz is a delightful dining destination that captures the essence of Argentinian cuisine. This airy bar and grill boasts a charming outdoor seating area, perfect for enjoying your meal al fresco. Guests can indulge in expertly prepared steaks, complemented by an array of flavorful sides and sauces. The menu caters to various tastes, offering not only hearty meat dishes but also healthy vegetarian options. Signature sides like baked potatoes with creamy fillings and crispy potato croquettes are must-tries!
I can't work out why there was a grumpy review about El Chico restaurant. We just had the finest Filet steak I've ever experienced and we have very good beef in Australia and many excellent steak restaurants A wonderful meal which couldn't be improved Malbec by the glass also good quality wine
Marshall S — Google review
The steaks were so delicious that with every bite we said, “We’re so glad we came!” The cooking was perfectly done, and the service was fast and friendly. • Finding a steakhouse like this in Main’d is such a great luck! Both the atmosphere and the taste are absolutely top-notch 👌

This was one of the best fillet steaks I have had, cooked perfect and great flavour. 500kg it was spot on! Highly recommend and hope to return, great service & food!

A well done 200gr filler steak. Wow wow wow. Still very soft and juicy and slightly pink in the inside. The corn was sweet and delicious, the staff was very kind. Honestly a very good experience!!

5star for the food and -1000stars for the Menu. This is not how a Menu should Look like in an almost expensive restaurant. At least using the SMS system in the Phone and making a screenshot and using it as Menu would look better and readable as what is in front of the customers called menu
Alex S — Google review
Amazing dinner...think it was the best steak of my life honestly. Got the 200g filet medium rare and the salad with the orange mustard vinaigrette. Like everyone else says definitely make a reservation. I was alone on a Friday night and called about 3hrs before and they were wonderful enough to get me a table but that was just luck I think. If you want an amazing steak dinner with friendly service in Mainz Steakhaus El Chico is your spot.
Katie M — Google review
My favorite restaurant for steak. Best in Mainz!! I always come here every times if I visit Mainz city. I cannot missed the steak here. The quality of the meat and the perfect cooking here made steak become juicy in perfect condition. I would like to try the pure beef then I only order the steak without any sauce or decoration. It’s perfect!! I suggest to book the seat in advance because this restaurant is always full. Otherwise you need to come during unusual dining time to get the seat. As I said, come here when you have visited Mainz is a must!!

HANS IM GLÜCK Burgergrill, located in the heart of Mainz, offers a variety of delicious vegan burgers and other delectable options. The stylish restaurant, situated opposite the State Theatre in downtown Mainz, boasts a modern interior adorned with white tree trunks that create a unique atmosphere. Guests can enjoy classic and creative burger choices such as those featuring Parma ham, caramelized onions, or blue cheese.
We love the interior design of this Burger chain Restaurant, very original, giving the feeling of being in a small birch tree forest, with small nooks. The service is very good and the burgers are delicious, where you can choose your bun and a variety of sauces. They are kids friendly and in the spring/ summer you can seat outside.

It was so lovely. Really kind and quick service. My favourite restaurant. The vegan Burgers are the best!!
Lina S — Google review
The restaurant is in a good spot with a really nice vibe. The burgers were tasty and reasonably priced. We were very happy with the service ,our waiter Vane was cheerful, welcoming, and brought everything quickly. We’ll definitely return

Good place to eat burgers in Mainz. Planty of options for vegetarian and vegan people. The burgers, sweet potatoes fries and drinks were really tasty. But prices are really high for a menu (25€). We've been there two years ago and prices were much cheaper.
Raphael — Google review
I was there with my friend. She ordered a "classic burger (hamburger)" with "kartoffel chips" and "vanilla matcha lemonade". I ordered a "grilled chicken burger (Elter Gockle)" with fries and "Blueberry mint ice tea." The next time I was there I ordered the same burger but "peach lemon ice tea" and my friend ordered a spicy vegetarian burger (I forgot the name). The hamburger that my friend ordered was okay, tasted like every other cliche hamburger, therefore was overpriced I'd say (10 euros). My burger costed me almost 13 euros but was really good, I liked it a lot, the mushroom sauce was very tasty, and the hashbrown in it gave really nice flavour. Overall I loved that burger. I ordered it with multi grain bread bun, which I liked the best among all their buns as well. Now regarding drinks, the matcha vanilla lemonade tasted good to me, though my friend said she cant really taste the vanilla, which was kinda true but still not bad. I had a bit of an issue with ice teas, my blueberry mint ice tea didnt have much flavour, I believe it should have a lil bit of lemon water or syrup to enhance the flavour. Same goes for my peach lemon ice tea, I order this one thinking it will have more lemon flavour, since it was written and I wanted lemon flavour but the thing was that there were only lemon slices on top, there was no lemon flavour. A squeeze of lemon or lemon syrup would again work nicely here! Overall not bad! Just a lil over priced cause the burgers don't come with sides. You have to pay almost 5 euros more for the sides. Still, I'd recommend it, cause it was nice. The interior was quite pretty as well.

Delicious food—and so much of it! Fun and tasty drinks. And such kind service! They even brought us bonus fries (yum!). We dined outside and it was a lovely evening to enjoy Mainz. We hope to be back during our visit.
Courtney D — Google review
Was there 1 day ago.Ordered the classic burger, salad and ice tea. Food is good. Would like to commend the service staff ..a young gentleman ..who provided prompt and attentive service.
LIM H — Google review
Amazing restaurant sauces. You can buy them as well, and we definitely could not resist buying an orange mustard sauce after our second visit. The grill sauce is also very good. Their regular and sweet potato fries are both great and the lemonade with mango and ingwer was fantastic. However, their main meals - the burgers - are unfortunately disappointing. The burger bread is too soft and the overall taste is meh. The restaurant itself is wonderfully decorated and their staff are generally friendly.

Great Find! We were impressed with its delicious Chicken Schnitzel (juicy & flavorful!) and crispy Baked Tomato side. The complimentary salad with tasty dressing was a lovely touch. Friendly service too! Highly recommended.

Really nice old pub vibe. The prices were great for the food quantity. Had the chicken schnitzel with creamy peppercorn sauce. Chicken was perfectly cooked. It also comes with a salad and potatoes, which were amazing. I’d recommend the small size for €12.90 for most people. It was more than enough.
Samad K — Google review
Visited from Toronto, Canada Great schnitzel, with big portions at a low price. Overall service was great. Really liked their Chicken stuffed with cheese and topped with mushrooms sauce schnitzel. Also try their fruit sparkling drinks.
Michael R — Google review
Love this place! The creamy peppercorn and brown cognac chicken schnitzel are two of my favorites here. We also had the red cabbage and pretzels with cheese dip. So delicious! The service is friendly just know they only take Euro. Can't wait to come back!

A great place to enjoy reasonably priced and authentic German food. This venue has lots of character and friendly staff. The offering is simple and delicious. They have options for the size of the portion as well, keeping all appetites satisfied. An outdoor eating area is also available.

It seems to have lost its former appeal. The schnitzels tasted of old oil and the place looks a little depressing. The waiter seemed uninterested but was efficient and smile less.
Reynold C — Google review
The main dish was great (Jagerschnitzel), but these home potatoes were some of the best I've ever had! Both dishes definitely complimented each other. Price was decent (18 euros), and the waiter was nice and patient as we walked me through the menu. Great overall experience.

On a Friday evening, while searching for an alternative to Frankfurt on our way westward, we stumbled upon Bei Bruno. To our delight, the establishment provided delightful cuisine and exceptional service. Despite our lack of German language skills, Bruno himself graciously translated the menu and guided us through the experience. Seeking respite from traditional German fare that had become overwhelming, we thoroughly enjoyed the gnocchi, salmon, and pork chops.
We arrived in our hotel and wanted to eat something nearby. We luckily found this place. Delicious Schnitzel and beer!

I came here twice with my husband and in both we were really well treated by Bruno. He is such a nice guy that you can see taking care personally of every tiny detail. The food was always DELICIOUS, you can choose anything from the menu that will be awesome. The place its really cozy and the price is good. We love you Bruno! Hahaha ❤

Came through on a Friday night when we were looking for something outside of Frankfurt and on the way West to where we were headed. Found Bruno's and could not have been more pleased. Lovely food and excellent service - we don't speak German but Bruno himself was happy to translate the menu, inform, and guide us. We were happy with the gnocchi, salmon, and pork chops as a break from the traditional German fare we had been eating a little too much. Good value for the price, good flavors, filling portions. 5/5 thank you Bruno!

Great hidden gem. We didn’t stay at the hotel but saw the reviews and didn’t disappoint. Great cocktail options, the ambiance is great. Quiet, and the design of the bar and hotel is just beautiful. Make sure you go to the back room close to the lobby it’s beautiful. The food menu looks great but limited.

Steins Traube in Mainz is a culinary gem that has been delighting guests since 1870. This restaurant, which has evolved through generations, recently underwent a significant renovation in 2019, enhancing its charm and ambiance. Known for its exceptional cuisine and creativity, Steins Traube offers an exquisite dining experience that leaves patrons raving about the superb quality of their meals. Guests have praised the attentive service and remarkable dishes, particularly highlighting the lamb as one of the best they've ever tasted.
Alice was a wonderful host but the food speaks louder than words ! Wonderfully delighted with such great taste in such a quaint location. It deserves a 3 star in my humble opinion. We had the duck confit (thinly crisp skin with such tender meat) and the beef fillet (what savory heavenly sauce) 😋much to rave about the duck fat butter as well - would drive 1000 miles just to taste that butter again!
Lynette L — Google review
We were there during white asparagus season and they really showcased the local dish beautifully. Did the smaller of the two tasting menus and every dish was delicious. Attentive but not overbearing service.
Kristin D — Google review
I had a wonderful lunch at Steins Traube. We did the light menu (menu legere) which came with 5 courses not including petit fours. The staff were very patient and kind with non-German speakers such as myself. We started the meal with non-alcoholic drinks and "snacks" (which overlapped with the starter of our menu). In our case, it was curried prawns covered with katifai. Then we had a burrata dish, a prawn dish, chicken, and dessert. All of the dishes were delicious and not too big or heavy which was fitting for the lighter tasting menu. We learned that the restaurant is owned by a husband and wife and the wife (Alina) served us some of our dishes and she was very friendly. Their kids were in the restaurant during our meal so it was cute to see them wandering around. Definitely recommend having a meal at Steins Traube.

What an experience! Tasty food, great service. We came for Xmas goose and it was definitely not a disappointment.
Meita K — Google review
What a beautiful evening at the currently most exciting restaurant in Rhineland Palatinate’s capital Mainz. The spot is located outside of the busy city center in Finthen where the Stein Family will welcome you to a fine dining experience that serves french and asian inspired modern cuisine. Philipp is the director in the kitchen and Julia oversees the excellent wine menu. What truly stood out was the attention to detail of every plate that we enjoyed in the 7 course menu - especially the langoustine course and tuna course were amazing. Julia and her team paired primarily local wines to every course - definitely go for the full wine pairing and come across some rare finds. 2 areas if improvement - the ambience could be improved by a more curated choice of music (sounded like a radio was playing) and secondly the super friendly service could serve the digestif directly at the table vs bring the already poured glass. Other than that an absolute must go to restaurant and worth the trip - we will be back.
Phil S — Google review
Very good service! The personnel was very attentive and nice. The food was superb! This was the best lamb we ever ate. Do not miss their petite four! Exquisite experience!
Madyx C — Google review
This is the perfect example of euphoric happenstance. We were looking for a nice place to eat, at the very last minute, for a adult group of 14 people, and Steins Traube just happened to be able to accommodate us. We did not know the restaurant in advance and all we had to go on, was online reviews. Our expectations, based on the reviews, were high, but also with acceptance that high online praise, doesn't always follow through. And when we walked to the restaurant (admittedly in the seasoned daylight still), we weren't sure if the restaurant was still there, as it is hard to spot from the street. It is indeed still there and what a tressure it is! Everything, and I do mean everything from food to wine list, and everything in between, is absolutely amazing. And it is amazing because everything on its own stands out but put together it becomes something more. You can have good food and nice wine, but the service might suffer, or vice versa, and it leaves a subpar impression, but when nothing falls short, it just stands out as a beacon of culinary awesomeness. The senior waiter, David, was jovial, intelligent, attentive, fast on his feet, a master of his craft, and simply awesome company. The sommelier, Maria, was a great match to David's presence, kind, and a very knowledgeable professional, who we felt very comfortable guiding us through the pretty impressive wine list. I didn't count them all, but I think easily +1000 wines. The two made for perfect company to a wonderful and humorous dining experience. They were more than ready for us, and it almost felt overwhelming at first, as we had a large, late lunch, but they quickly altered both the suggested menu and setup. We settled on a starter and a main course only, rather than a four-course meal with added appetizers. And although we changed the game at the last minute, the quality didn't suffer - it was simply put: Extraordinary. From presentation to quality and taste, everything worked. I find myself sometimes giving 4-stars to other restaurants for solid effort with minor faults, and I stand firm that getting a 5-star review from me, requires a top-tier experience beyond expectations. And it has been years since I been enjoying a restaurant experience this much. To a point, where I made it a point, to ask for the owner's attention and compliment her on what she has built. The expectation regarding the monetary aspect of an experience like this is, perhaps of course, that you can get everything you want if you are willing to pay for it. Sublime establishments often charge outrageous fees for their services, and it ruins the overall impression of the evening, if the balance isn't considering both guests and house. I was, in this regard, positively surprised as well. I hope this restaurant stays with us all for many more years to come. Steins Traube makes the Michelin Guide works proud. I will be back, hungry, thirsty and happy.

Steins Traube in Mainz: A Culinary Experience to Savor Located in the outskirts of Mainz, Steins Traube is a restaurant that offers an exceptional dining experience. I had the pleasure of trying the Menu Prestige, which consisted of seven delectable dishes. The Amuse-Gueule, consisting of Gebackener Curry-Garnelencroustillant im Kataifiteig, was a perfect starter that set the tone for the evening. The crispy texture of the kataifi dough was balanced by the soft and succulent shrimp filling, infused with aromatic curry flavors. This was beautifully paired with a glass of champagne that further accentuated the flavors and the textures of the dish. Moving on to the second course, the Gateau von Elsässer Gänseleber, eingelegter Perigordtrüffel | Birne | Piemonteser Haselnuss | Brioche, showcased a combination of rich and earthy flavors that delighted the palate. The foie gras was silky and decadent, complemented by the sweetness of the pear and the crunch of the hazelnuts. However I found that the taste of the perigord truffle was a bit weak and lacked a bit of intensity. The icewine from 1984 was a perfect match for the dish, with its complex layers of sweetness and acidity. The third course, the Lauwarmer Kohlrabisalat, Zitrusmarinade | gebeizter Lachs | Imperialkaviar | Haferjoghurt | Dillöl, was a standout dish that impressed with its perfect balance of acidity and flavor. The citrus marinade added a tangy note to the dish, while the succulent salmon was perfectly complemented by the pearly caviar and the creamy haferjoghurt. The Riesling from Nierenstein was a great pairing, with its crisp and refreshing acidity that cut through the rich flavors of the dish. The fourth course, Jakobsmuschel in langem Pfeffer gebraten, Lila Spitzkohl | Rote Beete | Pistazie | Rohmilch Crème fraîche, was a highlight of the evening. The perfectly cooked scallop was juicy and succulent, enhanced by the bold flavors of the long pepper. The creamy crème fraîche added a richness to the dish, while the pistachios and vegetables added a crunch and a pop of color. The Sauvignon Blanc blend, specially crafted for the restaurant, was a great pairing that complemented the flavors of the dish. The fifth course, Bretonischer Knurrhahn, Krustentier-Safran-Sud | Bottarga | Artischocke | eingelegte Tomate | Calamaretti | Schwarzkümmel, was another standout dish that combined a variety of flavors and textures to great effect. The gurnard was perfectly cooked and paired well with the calamaretti, while the crustacean and saffron broth added a depth of flavor that elevated the dish. The restaurant's rose was a great match, with its light and refreshing character that complemented the seafood flavors. The sixth course, Variation vom Holsteiner Salzwiesenlamm, Rücken mit Pommery-Senfkruste, Gepökelte Lammzunge | gebackenes Lammbries | Zwiebelcreme | Speckbohne | Kartoffeltaler, was a high-quality dish that showcased the quality of the ingredients. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the Pommery-Senfkruste added a nice crunch and a touch of acidity. While the dish was high in quality, it lacked a bit of intensity in flavor. A more pronounced taste of the Zwiebelcreme would have elevated the dish to perfection. The dish was paired with a rich and full-bodied red wine, a Spätburgunder. The meal concluded with a dessert of Babybanane in Salzkaramellglasur with gebrannte Mandel, Limette, Kokos, Sorbet von Litschi, and getrocknete Ananas. The combination of the sweet banana and the tangy lime was a burst of flavor in the mouth, while the coconut added a tropical twist. The staff was outstanding, professional, and welcoming, making the dining experience all the more enjoyable. I would highly recommend Steins Traube to anyone who appreciates German wines, especially those from the region, and to anyone who enjoys fine dining with high-quality ingredients. It was a truly wonderful evening!

Indeed one of the greatest brunch buffets I have tried in my entire lifetime 🤩 I loved their breads! Fresh and hot right from oven … refreshing orange juice was served with the variety of food options and ambience was lovely.

Just look at the hot chocolate I got. For scale, this is a big soup bowl (if you order the big size). I've never eaten here but liked the drink and the inside atmosphere.

This place was our first meal in Germany. The restaurant was open on the weekend, so we popped in for a quick lunch. We ordered four schnitzel with beer and drinks. We ordered a small-size beer but were served a larger one and billed for the tall size. Overall, the food was okay and the staff was friendly.

Higher class feeling yet still affordable. Dinner for two with drinks was 60 euro. The entire place isnimaccuatley Clean. The food presentation is great and the portion sizes huge. The deserts oh ! Just wow! Most speak English so that helps alot.

A great place for a buffet breakfast. It's a set price for a full breakfast. The price varies depending on the day you go. Sundays are more expensive. Lots of variety to choose from. They have a full and delicious spread.

I was a bit worried after looking at the reviews, but let me assure you! The bad reviews are 100% correct, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Trust me, we waited one hour for the wrong order. The steak & fries is just taking the piss . I came in thinking that you can never go wrong with a steak, i was right there. But trust me, they showed me that you can go wrong with everything else. The fries are just hard corner pieces thrown on a plate. If your local, you know this i a pub. If you are on vacation like me, don’t bother man! Walter is super nice, but like yeah. Just don’t

Cafe Extrablatt Mainz Schillerplatz is located in a historically rich area, surrounded by baroque and rococo palaces. The cafe offers an exceptional breakfast experience with a spacious interior and attentive service. It is situated next to the Mainzer Fastnachtsbrunnen, a towering fountain adorned with 200 bronze figures dedicated to the city's carnival celebrations. The cafe provides a relaxed atmosphere for enjoying local and international dishes, including options for vegetarians.
I was there with my mom and sister. We ordered several things and liked them all. The servers were really kind and sweet. We told them that we weren't informed that the fries with the burger would be charged extra, so she offered us a free latte machiato :) Just one suggestion I felt like the pizza had too much bbq sauce maybe add a lil less sauce next time :)

A very beautiful place, and a great location. It is in the city centre, but still kind of peaceful, a lovely small fontaine and a small park just in front of it. The surrounding buildings are historical and just pretty to watch and enjoy them. The waiters are lovely, nice and with a warm smile on the face all the time, the food I tried is good (see picture) and maybe the best coffee in Mainz (in my opinion). I am new in Mainz, but I would definitely recommend the place. The only thing I really did not like is the Toilette, it was dirty and smelly.
Dzenis I — Google review
Great location in a beautiful square. The place was very busy and the service was slow, however, the food came out hot and tasty. The drink concoctions were delicious.

The schnitzel is really terrible, burnt and dry as you can see from the photo. It's a very dirty place, there are insects crawling around in the menus they leave on the tables. Moreover, the people working there are very rude and disrespectful. It's a shame that there is such a terrible place in such a beautiful location. disgusting.

At POMP in Mainz, you’ll find a charming bistro atmosphere that invites you to relax, whether you're perched at the bar or sinking into cozy chairs. The spacious terrace is perfect for soaking up the sun while indulging in a diverse menu that ranges from delightful snacks to hearty burgers. This eatery caters to all palates with an impressive selection of drinks, including refreshing cocktails and homemade lemonades.
Very tasty food selection of American style, Italian Style. Also a weekly changing menu with vegetarian and vegan dishes. A large variety of very tasty breakfast variants is one of the staples of the restaurant. They have a quite huge drink menu with homemade lemonades and teas. The Ambient in nice, especially in the summer, when you can sit on the terrace. It can be a little bit busy around noon and in the beginning of the evening and maybe for some it will be a bit loud, but it didn't bother me at all. Definitely worth a visit. 😀

Small but tasty menu. Very good Wiener Schnitzel. Grilled cheese is special...huge thick bread and delicious three cheese combination. Our first visit (lunch) we had excellent service. The second visit was for dinner and the service was fine but not great. Love the art and atmosphere.

What has happened to Pomp? For many years this was my favourite breakfast spot in Mainz. Now, Google says it's open on a Saturday morning but it's not. No signage to say they are closed. And from what I can see in reviews the menu is nothing compared to earlier days. Also, the website appears dead, so I can only assume the business is closing down? Pomp was one of the things we were really looking forward to visiting, as we do every time we return to Mainz. Not any more, though. Update: It appears that Pomp has closed permanently. A sign in the front window still would have been nice.

A very nice place to enjoy brunch in Mainz. Nice vegetarian choices, as well as traditional schnitzel. Pleasant seating at the tables in front of restaurant on the "Neubrunnen" square.

Delicious. Good breakfast variety. I only wish Germany had hashbrowns. I got the American breakfast. Fried eggs, cornflakes instead of fruit salad, bacon, and two big pieces of bread. The only complaint I have is that the milk was not cold, but that is because I am from America and we have cold milk. Great place for breakfast
Daniel — Google review
Excellent breakfast, coffee, sandwiches, and light dinner options for vegetarians. The location on the Neubrunnenplatz has a certain buzz but is enjoyable and not noisy. Outdoor seating quality is somewhat hampered by the fact that many smokers are blowing second hand smoke up your table (a non-smoking part to the outdoor seating area would be appreciated).
Wouter D — Google review
They used to be better. Burgers and sandwiches are mediocre, but Schnitzel is good. Drinks are also good. Service hast lost efficiency and quality. In general, rather noisy. Uncomfy chairs. Be ready to pay a premium to experience better someplace else.

Geberts Weinstuben is a sophisticated dining spot located in Neustadter Frauenlobstrasse, Mainz. The restaurant, led by Frank Gebert, offers a modern culinary experience rooted in Mainzer tradition. Their menu features dishes such as wild and beef, as well as vegetarian options like risotto. Additionally, they boast an extensive selection of wines primarily sourced from vineyards in Rheinland-Pfalz.
One of my favorite restaurants in Mainz. Entrees are tasty and the service is good, but dessert is the true highlight. The crème brûlée is fantastic... nothing fancy, but executed perfectly. The best crème brûlée I've ever had. They pair it with fruit and ice cream or sorbet which makes the dessert a good value for the price. The menu changes regularly, but some past highlights include beef pot pie (with the crunchiest crust you've ever heard) and pumpkin soup. If you're American, stay away from the apple red cabbage, as it tastes disconcertingly like apple pie. Not bad, but too weird for me to eat. Highly recommend!

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Mainz. They have nice classic French dishes, friendly and warm staff ( senior ladies), good wine list with reasonable prices. We had dinner during Easter Sunday. We managed to get a table by calling the phone number, using my basic A1 German language as the lady does not speak English, but she was very accommodating and hospitable.

Came here for a birthday dinner. First off we got welcomed by the staff glaring at our dog. Got seated at a table where not even 3mins after we were asked what we want and pushed into getting multiple courses and wine. We declined and just ordered the main meals and i got the soup too. The soup was actually really good and i do recommend it. The main dish on the other hand....yeah really bad. The meat barely had any flavour, was very veiny and bled all over the plate, the taste of blood still lingers in our mouths. The cabbage was bland just like the rest of the plate honestly. When we were asked if we liked it we told them how no, we didn't, of course we got greeted by glares and no apology or word of a compensation which is usually custom to do. We paid a decent amount of money for a meal that wasn't worth half as much. Other things to point out: 1. Our dog wasn't allowed to drink in the restaurant, we got told there's a water bowl in the courtyard. How shameless 2. From the looks of it the young waitresses don't get any tips, the older ladies are always the ones who handle the bill which is also shameless, never seen before Conclusion. Not worth it. The soup was good but that's about it.
Davi D — Google review
Traditional and elegant decor. Service is paced but very good and amicable in a classic German way. Can find traditional and seasonal dishes. Run by a matron who likes to ask if you’re enjoying the experience. She doesn’t speak English but there’s Google translate nowadays. Coming from LA i thought the price was great for the quality and experience but then anything comparable in LA would’ve cost me 2-3x after taxes and tip.

Cafe Portugal is a popular and bustling restaurant that serves authentic Portuguese meat and seafood dishes. It attracts a primarily Portuguese clientele, indicating its reputation among the locals. The menu features traditional Portuguese cuisine with an emphasis on fresh seafood options. Appetizers such as Aioli, bread, croquettes, and olives are available to start off the meal. Main course options include grilled squid, Calamares, Salmon, and pork steak.
Nice food for a really good price! The special food for 2 people were amazing!
Ziming F — Google review
The restaurant was packed during lunch time that we went. That is, full of Portuguese people and this is apparently a go to restaurant for them. The food is typical Portuguese with good seafood selections. We tried the Aioli, bread, croquettes and olives for starters and moved on to grilled squid, Calamares, Salmon and pork steak for main course. They were all okay. The person on the next table ordered a Bacalhau and he said it was fantastic and I quickly regretted not ordering the same. The Portuguese red table wine was good and suited the dishes. For 4 people the price was normal ~ rounded it up to 100€. Best to call for reservations.

Matvey V — Google review
extremely slow service! fish soup was quite salty, still ok but not really good. among the 3 pieces of appetisers, except the fried bacalhau ball was ok, the other 2 were ridiculous. the fried crab ball was exactly what you can buy in any asian market and it's not even made by crab. the fried shrimp dumpling, you have to be very lucky to be able to find a finger nail size frozen shrimp.... very disappointed....
Bobo C — Google review
Just went there for dinner tonight. The shrimp was very tasty and fresh. The sauce on it was great. It was oily and spicy (just the way I like it). They peeled the mid section of the shrimp already to allow more flavor to get in. Then came the little clams and pork. The pork was a bit like adobo pork. It could have use more cooking time to break down the pork so it's even more tender. The flavor combo was just great. Most people don't think of pairing clams with pork in a dish but this worked really well. The last dish was a bit like bouillabaisse with rice in it. By the time it came, we couldn't eat anymore. With that said the clams dish and the bouillabaisse with rice are meant for 2 people to share. Don't order multiple 2 person dishes like us. Pick one and try another next visit. Staff was very friendly and prompt. There's a parking structure nearby. When you walk in you'll be greated with a very delicious smell. Wine selection was tasty. Just a great little place to get a taste of Portugal.

Stayed here and had dinner in the beautiful garden on an absolutely wonderful spring evening. Food and drink were excellent. Service was solid - not excellent as they could have checked more regularly and likely sold a bit more vino! Rooms that face the street can be a bit loud but not unusual for a city center location. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. So good I’m staying again on my next long layover!
Anthony H — Google review
I’ve both stayed and eaten here and it was a solid 4.5 experience. Would very much recommend it and return when in Mainz. The rooms are well appointed and clean. The street can get noisy. That seems self evident from the location. The bathroom is tiny- this also seems reasonable given the age of the building. The breakfast buffet had all the usual things very nicely presented. One my second trip to Mainz we finally ate at the restaurant. Our Flammkuchen, Salmon and Potatoes, and Burger were all very good. The wine selection is excellent. The service was smooth in both English and German. We didn’t reserve, on a Saturday night, but they managed to find us a place in less than ten minutes. I loved everything about the place except the fact that a carafe of water was just so expensive. I realize this is the norm in Germany but if I’m paying 15- 20 EUR for a plate of food just give me a glass of tap water on the side. It will probably inspire me to order more as I can stay longer. The prices aren’t low but the portions were generous and the food was very good. I would happily return.
Saumya P — Google review
Great place to stay. This seems to be a restaurant first and hotel second, but it's all run locally and in a really neat historical building in the heart of the old city center. It's a perfect location; everything worth seeing in the city center is walkable. If you're looking for a luxury hotel this isn't it, but if you're looking for a really nice place to stay in a great location and locally operated this is perfect. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable.

We Only came to eat. The women on the phone was kind of rude. She just hang up on us. I understand you might be busy. But you still can be pro. The Service looked like they are trying their best. But looked like most of them have Hard time to understand german. There came later on one sunshine who could understand everythig. Short hair girl. Very friendly. All were friendly expecting the women. On the phone and who was greatinf on the entry.. The surrounding is amazing. We loved the candle lights and the woods tables. Absolute 💕 we loved all desserts. Handkase we missed lots of onions and some butter. Rest of the food was very good. So despite of one rude women. I could recommend to visit here.

This has been a really frustrating experience. The hotel is in the city center, which is great, but the noise is unbearable. People have been laughing and talking loudly since the afternoon, and now, even past midnight, it still hasn’t stopped—not even for a second. I have no idea when it will finally quiet down. If you’re sensitive to noise, be prepared—bring really good noise-canceling stuff, unlike me, who’s stuck here, exhausted but unable to sleep.
Zhengyu H — Google review
The room was clean and location was great. Although or check-in was pretty uncomfortable, as if a friend was helping out checking in. Other than that, we were aware there was no AC but opening the window was not an option as it’s the busiest back street. And finally, our shower phone didn’t work, you couldn’t hand it so it was only possible to hold it the whole time.

A Truly Disappointing Experience at Hof Ehrenfeld I am writing this review with extreme disappointment and frustration after my recent experience at Hof Ehrenfeld, a place I once frequented and recommended enthusiastically to friends and family. Last weekend, my family was visiting Mainz, and I wanted to treat them to German food and wine. We decided to try walking into Hof Ehrenfeld without a reservation, hoping they might have a spot. Unfortunately, what followed was the most unpleasant interaction I’ve ever had at a restaurant. We were “greeted” by a team member named Justin, whose demeanor was shockingly rude and unsettling. I had encountered him before on previous visits and always found his vibe off-putting, though I brushed it aside at the time. However, this time his behavior was outright appalling. When I asked politely if he spoke English, he looked at me with a mixture of disdain and indifference that left me feeling both unwelcome and judged. His curt, dismissive “no” when I inquired about a table was beyond unprofessional. As a hospitality professional myself, I was horrified. This kind of attitude is a stain on the restaurant’s reputation. If I had a team member like Justin, I would address the issue immediately—such behavior can have a ripple effect on both guest satisfaction and team morale. Despite this horrible encounter, I decided to give Hof Ehrenfeld another chance the next day because I genuinely enjoyed the place in the past. I called to make a reservation and spoke to a polite gentleman who confirmed my booking, though he failed to ask for my name. When we arrived for our reservation, the hostess refused to seat us, claiming there was no record of our booking. This situation made us feel like imposters, adding insult to injury after the previous day’s experience. I was shocked and disheartened by the sheer lack of professionalism and the dismissive attitude displayed by the team. It’s appalling that a restaurant of this caliber employs individuals who tarnish the experience for loyal patrons. Hof Ehrenfeld is now off my list for good. What a shame to see such a lovely establishment ruined by its staff’s vile and unprofessional behavior. I would strongly caution anyone considering dining here—there are far better options in Mainz where your presence will actually be valued.

It's sad to see bad reviews just because the service was "too slow", or because they brought Rose instead of Red Wine. People get frustrated for no reason. Come, try to relax and eat, enjoy your company and try to be friendly to the service, that's all you need to do. If you really want to eat the meal exactly the way you want, buy some meat at supermarket and make your own meal at home. I was couple times at the restaurant, every time i enjoyed. The food was fresh and delicious, the service nice. People who never worked in a restaurant will never understand how hard this job is. Have some respect and try to be more understanding as a guest. Don't be a snob like many germans tend to be when they come to a restaurant or hotel. Thanks Olympia ;)

I couldn’t hear my own voice due to extreme noise from the kitchen. 1/3 of our order was forgotten. Coffee was barely warm.

Eierlikör cake and Tiramisu were tasty :) However staff disappeared after we asked for a few mins to choose our order. After we finished I asked for another slice of Tiramisù. 45m before closing, although they had 4 trays of Tiramisù left when I first ordered (I checked their fridge and counter when ordering) I get told "I'm sorry we put them away". They moved them to a walk in fridge, there is still 45m before your closing and you can't offer a dessert that just has to be plated, and it's ready? Desserts should remain available until closing, that's what I learned after 6 years working in hospitality. Just embarrassing.
Clarence P — Google review
Cannot recommend it; waiting long time until the waiter came to get our order. The waiting time until all the guests have their order (here two persons) is unacceptable. One guest was almost done with his freshly made dish while the other waited for the cake (could be prepared within a minute!). We also had some problem with availability of the waiters when we wanted to pay.

(Translated by Google) MA:DORO cooks with a lot of heart and soul: super tasty, fresh cuisine, which is reflected in a changing, small menu, where a dish can sometimes be sold out if you come by too late in the evening (which is the case speaks for the freshness!). The boss takes time for his guests and likes to come to the table to ask how it tastes. Very good wine selection and the tastiest salad I've ever had in a restaurant (and I'm not someone who usually orders salad with the main course in a restaurant 😅). The signature dish is certainly the pasta with garlic and sage from the Parmesan wheel.😉 Central location in Mainz Neustadt. I always enjoy coming here!

İt's a medium-quality place. I've tried different meals- all pretty average. Pizza is poor. Steak- rather not. Salad- nothing mind-blowing (especially the dressing is pretty fatty, and tastes like from the discounter supermarket. Schnitzel- probably best choice. Don't expect too much from German customer service. The waitress was normal. When we pointed out that there were little pieces of something in the espresso (which apparently is a normal thing with their machine) she could have been a little more customer friendly as those pieces aren't supposed to be there. İf you want to spend not too much money on ok food where parking lots are guaranteed, this restaurant is going to be your best friend :)

A very pleasant place in Mainz 🌸 I discovered this café spontaneously, while wandering around the city. I was attracted by the café's small window through which you can place an order. Since then, every time I go back to Mainz, I return to this café. The latte is really good and I'd like to give a special mention to their banana bread with a knob of butter on top, which is just excellent ! It's the perfect place for a solo date or a date with friends :))

My experience at this café was truly wonderful. The atmosphere is unique and cozy, with a modern design and artistic touches that make the visit enjoyable. The coffee itself was excellent – rich, well-balanced, and clearly prepared with great care and high-quality beans. I also appreciated the friendly and efficient service, which made the overall experience even better. This café clearly reflects a passion for coffee and attention to the small details that leave a lasting impression. Frankly, it's an overrated place. The owner is a bit arrogant and hesitant to speak. When I examined the packaged coffees on the shelf, he reacted angrily; I think he's using them as a painting. The coffee tastes ordinary.

A good coffee place with a very and friendly staff and a cosy outside seating. The pastry - a shortbread - was good as well. On the other hand, the coffee was a bit a disappointment: not bad overall, but definitely not up to the standard - too creamy and watery, coffee taste itself felt weak.

The location was great, staff very nice and drinks was amazing we will definitely recommend. Space was a bit small they offered free cups and you could buy a lot of gadgets from the shop. The waiting time was moderate and the staff were quite fast attending to customers A bit expensive but it worth the money
Clo J — Google review
10 years ago it was not so good and overpriced, but accidentally I was there 1 week ago with my family just for the coffee and it was terrible. They absolutely don't know how to make a good coffee. My coffee late was not a coffee with milk, but milk with some coffee, and it was about 6,5 euros which is absolutely overpriced, like prices at the airport. I don't mind to pay for a good coffee but this one was terrible. Never come back here again and not recommended to anyone...6 euros for cup of milk...
Rommy L — Google review
I had a disappointing experience at this Starbucks location on July 5th around 6 PM. I ordered an iced latte, but was informed they were out of ice and that the drink would be made with cold milk from the fridge. I agreed, expecting at least a chilled drink. However, when I received my order, it was room temperature—not cold at all. I politely asked if it could be changed, and the response I received was unnecessarily rude. The staff member insisted that I was told it would be fridge temperature, but what I got was clearly not cold. Instead of simply resolving the issue, she argued with me and gave me attitude. Eventually, she did remake the drink, but the experience left a bad impression. It wasn’t about the drink itself, but the way the situation was handled. At most other Starbucks locations, they would have apologized and kindly changed it without making it uncomfortable—unfortunately, that was not the case here. Because of her behavior, I couldn’t even enjoy my coffee or my time there. A little kindness and professionalism would have made all the difference.
Parandis S — Google review
Bad coffee, super expensive (12e for a Frappuccino and an Espresso), the tables were not clean, no wifi and no bathroom (or you have to pay additionally for the public bathrooms of the trainstation). I’m glad competitors are going over Starbucks because it’s time for them to shut down .
Clara — Google review
Stopped by Starbucks on a Saturday morning hoping to get some work done with a good coffee and Wi-Fi. Bought a pricey coffee expecting the usual — only to find out there’s no internet at all. Had to use my mobile data, which was a hassle. To top it off, there’s no restroom available either. The staff was friendly, but honestly, for the price and the expectations, this was pretty disappointing.
Theresa M — Google review
There is no wifi, which defeats the sole purpose of this chain -- no offense to the employees and social media managers, who certainly seek cheaper coffee options in their free time Edit: sorry, you can forward this to your customer service yourselves 🤡 the wifi has been out for more than 3 months.

One of my favorite cafes in Mainz! The location (for me) is extra ordinary, I always chose the last table looking toward the garden and I sit there, enjoy the surroundings and read.. mostly all staff members are friendly, only one of them was extremely rude as he decided to reserve the table while I was still having my juice as a (polite?) way to ask me to leave or to order! I haven’t had my coffee and desert yet so I ordered it, but I hope they understand that they shouldn’t rush people out especially if there’s room.

Very chill peeps there, I luv the outdoor seating. The menu is also pretty solid, there’s (luckily) lots of vegan options, the cakes are scrumptious and the iced coffees are great as well. Service can take quite a while but it actually depends on how packed it is, so let’s be honest it’s understandable and the staff is still kind and good at managing orders. Always worth a visit
Dr. G — Google review
Very cozy coffee shop. I really liked the patio seating by the fountain outside but the inside has comfy chairs. They can do table service if you dine in but you can also just order and pay at the counter. It seems very popular with the hipster crowd but based on my experience it can be a welcoming place for anyone. The two baristas were both cheerful and patient with my not-good German. The menu is very vegan friendly - there are vegan options for sandwiches and baked goods, and there’s oat milk for drinks. I got a Blumenkohl panini, a Mandelkuchen, and a Chai Latte. I was a fan of the panini, the smashed cauliflower in was actually very flavourful with curry-esque spices. No complaints on the latte. The Mandelkuchen fell short of my expectations, I thought it was on the dry side, although the strong almond flavour was nice. If I had been able to see a cross section of this before I ordered, I would’ve gotten something else - the cake hadn’t been cut into yet when I ordered. The other cake slices looked better. Everything is priced reasonably - my total was about €14. It’s the kind of place I’d probably go to all the time if I lived here.

Sooo good. I was there for brunch with a friend and it was delicious. My meal was so good and the chai was tasty. And it’s so cozy. The prices are good and they gave me extra bread and condiments for free, which is unusually wonderful. I was actually full! There are a lot of vegetarian and vegan options. My only minus is that there’s no plugs so if you want to study here, you can’t charge your devices. But for reading or writing or anything else, it’s lovely. And dogs are welcome. Wonderful food and outstanding service. But it useful to book a reservation even during the week. Additional they have an amazing coffee opportunity to choose from.

I absolutely loved food here! Also the prices are super reasonable and the staff working there are wonderful. They saw we were struggling with German menu so they brought us an English one! Before we left I also bought some cakes to go and they were really good! I can’t wait to visit Mainz again so I can visit this place. Tip: the kaiserschmarnn with blueberry sauce is out of this world.

Nice Cafe with English speaking waiter/ waitress and Menu! Inside you can get some daily made fresh cake, or you can order some dessert on the menu, waiting for a short time with nice coffee, and enjoy it!

No words. Great service. incredible food. Incredible atmosphere. We took 3 small plates in two to taste all the flavors. We took a regional white wine and took the 3 Chocolate desert. Amazing for a romantic night or for a great diner to introduce Mainz to your family.

I love the fact that the menu is often changing. The atmosphere is great, but tables are narrow and very close to each other. I absolutely loved the starters and desserts, but was slightly disappointed with the main. I had the feeling they try to add expensive ingredients to the dish but the combinations didn't work so well, it was missing a kick of flavour. The service was good but the waiting time was quite long. Overall a nice experience, but will probably not go back.

Great food, if you ever get it. I was recently here during a lightshow festival, and apparently the management decided to open the outdoor seating while keeping the indoor open as well, but did not staff for it. The wait for everything was excruciating. A German friend of mine even told me that this was the first time in his life he had ever canceled an order. To be clear, my issue is with the management, not the staff. They were doing the best they could, and it was noticed.

Best format of the Restaurant I've ever visited! Absolutely cozy place at the nice district of the city. There is a lot of Cafes and restaurants around. And at this place you can only buy drinks (they haven't any food) and order any food from the restaurants around. It's an Italian restaurant, Sushi, Fish restaurant, Thai, Vietnam and even Kebab (Dönner). So you need to pay for your food to the waiter from restaurant (don't forget to give them a tips) and for a drinks you will pay layer for the waiter of Zeitungsente. Stuff are incredible nice. Dog friendly (your dog can also get a drink here).

Café Blum Tatjana Kreuter GmbH offers a delectable range of cakes, with options that vary from moist and fluffy to creamy. Their coffee and hot chocolate are highly enjoyable. The atmosphere is delightful, and there is a cozy room downstairs for small gatherings. This coffee shop is known for being quiet and private, with a friendly staff. They offer an impressive variety of cakes, pies, and teas that are definitely worth trying out.
I had a freshly homemade delicious brunch ("Frühstück Blum"), and even the croissant was good quality which is rare. And a very interestingly spiced marmelade as well, a fresh homemade lemon drink, and very nice service. Big recommend! 🙂

The cakes are really good however the owner (older lady behind the counter) is very unfriendly and seems annoyed by any question that is directed to her by paying customer. Why be in a customer facing business if you don’t like talking to customers? Looking at other reviews this doesn’t seem to be an isolated incident. Get your cake to go if you plan to visit this establishment and enjoy it in outside if the weather is nice or at home.

Delicious cake but most likely the worst service ever. I came to order a carrot cake for my husband. I had two wishes: 1. to have a bit less cream on it - not possible. Okay. 2. To have the small size of the cake - not possible. In a few moments possible but I was treated like a trouble maker. Next day I picked it up. Different personell but again soooo unfriendly treating me like I was bothering them.
Martina S — Google review
Nice locations, and the cakes look pretty good (I took just a jasmin tea that was ok). However, the staff is not very helpful and not so pleasant, but not unpleasant though. So, in the end it is ok, but you can find something better around in the city center.

Eiscafé Dolomiti is a charming ice cream parlor located in the delightful city of Mainz, Germany. It's a true haven for ice cream enthusiasts, offering a wide variety of delicious flavors in a cozy setting. Whether you prefer classic options like vanilla and chocolate or more adventurous creations, this place has something for everyone. The café also serves coffee and other treats.
Great flavors and wonderful creations, but you must sit at the tables and order from the menu for the larger dishes of ice cream. Take-away from the outside counter is not allowed at the tables. There are plenty of benches nearby to sit and eat your take-away cups and cones.
A H — Google review
That's the most awful experience we've had in our lives from all the countries that we've been to. We have bought ice creams for all our family, our children were super excited to eat it there and by the time we tried to position ourselves at a free table we were told off in the most rude manner to get out and move away. The tables were only for orders from the menu but when I asked to see the menu and order something they said there's no menu and we had to leave with our disheartened children and to explain to them why we are NOT coming back to this awful place with unmatched bad service and we would make sure to tell everyone that is looking for a nice ice cream place to surpass it BY ALL MEANS! Their staff was with no knowledge of other languages and you can only pay by cash if you want to eat their filled with water ice cream... Not good products and ever worse service! Save yourself the bad service and find some another place in this beautiful town!
Slavina K — Google review
To small tables. We became bill as we were on drinking our coffee. And we felt not comfortable because of waiters, they took our cups and plates as we were sitting and I was finishing to drink my coffee. They were just nerved about us that we still sitting there but there was a lot of tables free.

An absolutely exceptional restaurant, whether you’re vegan, veggie, or not. By far the best food I’ve ever eaten, at really good prices with excellent service. I’ll be coming back here again and again.

My favorite restaurant in Mainz! It’s 100% plant-based and they have several glutenfree options (the only downside is that their menu doesn’t seem to be accurate when it comes to labeling allergens, and they really need to revise the menu for the sake of their customers’ safety). Their food is delicious, fresh, and filling. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is cozy.
Hannah C — Google review
The dishes look very nice but taste quite similar, it’s hard to tell what’s in them from the ingredients. On the bright side, you can’t get overdone with them!
Anna L — Google review
An awesome stop for those who want vegetarian options. Great flavor and choice. Southeast Asian food is sometimes heavy on meat with things like beef broth, so it was great to find a place that allowed me to try vegetarian substitutes of dishes I have wanted.
David W — Google review
This place was great. Huge selection and felt spoilt for choice. The pho was rich with flavour and filling. Everything else I saw on the menu looked appealing. Delighted to see the creativity on a fully vegan menu with a Vietnamese inspiration. The staff were very accommodating for a large group and attentive. The table and benches were cosy. Highly recommended.
Tom D — Google review
Had a lovely lunch on a hot day. We were able to choose where to sit as it wasn't too busy and got a table right by the open window. The server wasn't pushy at all, but in reach whenever we needed him. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to answer our questions. The food came out in a timely manner and was very delicious, only some of the salad (on both plates) was a bit bitter for our tastes. They were out of the burgers when we were there, but as I got a delicious alternative I didn't mind!
A. S — Google review
I’ve never been here until now because I heard that they revamped their whole menu into a vegan only menu this month. This is the first Vietnamese all vegan restaurant in Mainz and I highly recommend going there. The restaurant itself was super beautiful with lovely seating indoor and outdoor and the location is convenient - close to the Mainz hbf. They had everything from to vegan sushi as well as noodles and soup dishes. The staff was super friendly and I recommend going here. You can also order with Lieferando. (Edit: I went back again and tried another dish number 20. Bun Dao and it was absolutely amazing)!

Taiara C — Google review
Very popular bar apparently, at first no seats available. Service was slow and we had to beg the waiter if we could pay our bill. Meanwhile he assigned himself a small bonus thanks to a sneaky miscommunication. Ambiance was neutral, not disturbing but not uplifting either.
Wout B — Google review
One of the best bars in Mainz for sure. Tasty food, great drinks, friendly and hard working staff. If you expect a flawless experience you should try to change your mindset.
Sebastian B — Google review
The location itself is ok. If you're looking to get a quick drink or just pre-loading for the weekend it will do its job. Prices are a bit above average but everything got more expensive. It's still doable. There's two other clubs right next to it, so depending on when you'll go, you'll hear the music banging out loud, which could make sitting outside challeng. As the location is right next to the main road, it might be difficult to find proper parking space. The bar tender is friendly but the waitress wasn't that calm. We got served quickly as there weren't many people in the location. The toilet in this place however, makes for a trippy experience. After you locked the door you'll feel as if you're in a panic room and the decorations on the wall are supposed to give you jungle vibes but I couldn't help but feeling like someone was staring at you. The bird noises and the high ceiling didn't really help either. Other then that, the bar is clean although the disco music didn't really suit the emptiness. The concept of sitting comfortably doesn't really apply to this place.

I love the idea of this do it yourself ice cream 🍦 shop. Great display of products and nice decoration. More ice cream flavours would be awesome. Topping and add ons are on point. I had pistachio and mango. It was delicious. I recommend going there and trying they’re ice cream 😊.

Very creative place to go. You decide yourself how much from which flavors and also the toppings. I paid 5€ for 2 flavors. But Mango was not good, it felt they're cheap and somewhat watery.
Henrik M — Google review
The ice cream itself is OK but the prices are crazy. 10 euros for a small tub with a few toppings is simply too much for what you get. Half might be acceptable. Avoid unless you really want this kind of dessert.
F J — Google review
*Attention* it’s not the regular tasted general ice cream. So don’t get surprised. Biggest advantage: you can make your own ice cream and choose the toppings. Drawback: Your guessed weight might be far away than the actual weight. So put some attention while making the ice cream. 😅
Abrar A — Google review
Ice cream was AMAZING, I had mango and grapefruit was the most delicious ice cream I have ever had. The worker was super nice and had a conversation with us about him and where he was from. Also it is self serve. Price for two large ice creams was 14 euro. Also the ice cream is gluten free and lactose free.

Make your own! Great Ice cream, and topping choices. Would be amazing if they also had some sort of cakes/brownies for topping. Would give it 5* otherwise.
Nikhil B — Google review
15 Euros on what was the worst attempt at a milkshake. There was twice as much milk as “ice cream” and he ran the blender so long to ensure that there was more of a resemblance to soup then anything. Please cool it on the milk and blend times for your future customers. It’s only got to be liquid enough to make it through a straw. Check McDonalds for inspiration if this is confusing.

From expertly crafted coffee specialties to mouthwatering cakes, as well as healthy organic dishes with vegan and vegetarian options, there's something for everyone here. The extensive breakfast menu sets the perfect tone for a leisurely morning. Once known for mediocre offerings, this café has transformed into a haven for quality coffee lovers.
This is one of the few places that can make very good flat white coffee. It's been a real challenge to find good coffee in Germany and these guys have succeeded. Plenty of seating was available inside and out, at 9:45am on a Monday.

Hands down the best cafe I have ever been to. The staff (Jess & Teo) were so welcoming, I was visiting from london with my baby and they provided toys for her to play with. The cakes are fresh, the coffee delicious. Will be defo be coming again! 🥰

Super chilled cozy place. Coffee was great and they have a some snacks, bagels, cakes. I stayed for an hour to work. It didn't bother anyone. I can recommend a visit.

A very nice place with a lot of space and lovely staff! Their peanut butter latte saved my life more than once, and their croissants are actually decent (context: I'm French). For lunch they serve good vegan and vegetarian bagels!

I recently visited a coffee place that left me thoroughly impressed. Not only did they offer a wide array of coffee options, but the quality was exceptional. The friendly atmosphere and welcoming staff made the experience even better. It's a perfect spot for coffee enthusiasts seeking both variety and a warm environment.

Loved the atmosphere and the coffee! Perfect place to sit and read a book for a few hours. The baristas were really friendly and everything tasted amazing (as well as being reasonably priced). Definitely a highlight of my time in Germany.
Cassidy L — Google review
Nice ambience, right on a nice street full of stores you can just stroll through. Came in for an Iced Mocha and it was fantastic, they blended and chilled it well; as opposed to lazily pouring coffee over ice and creating a watery lukewarm mess. I appreciate places that make good iced coffee! Will come again next time I'm in the area feeling thirsty, thanks a ton!
Tyler R — Google review
In the past they used to offer mediocre coffee specialties. Now an improved concept and way better quality. Great scone with butter if fresh-baked. Interesting selection of pastry and cakes. Some clients confuse half the salon for their living room. But staff is great. Outside, lots of ultra dirty ashtrays with worse ash odor than most smokers produce. The plant container even worse ash depot. On bad days, smoke seeps through window front into the salon.

This place was nice and comfortable on a hot sunday afternoon, providing shade from the boiling weather. The service was pretty good and we would go back again, it does get busy here and seats are limited (or was when we got there) The general area does not have a huge choice of resteraunts and this one was open all afternoon (some of them close in the afternoon) The beer and wine were nice , we didnt try the food this time as it was busy and we didnt have time.

Nestled in the heart of Mainz, Günay’s Café is a delightful spot that promises a cozy atmosphere for anyone looking to indulge in delicious treats. This charming café offers an impressive variety of beverages and dishes, making it the perfect destination for brunch, breakfast, or simply enjoying coffee and cake. With its focus on quality and freshness, every item that leaves the kitchen reflects these values. Guests can savor Turkish, European, and Mediterranean delicacies while unwinding with friends or family.
Dear Günay's Café team, Last month, I recently had the pleasure of visiting your café in Mainz with my partner while we were spending time with family members in the area. We were looking for a place to relax and enjoy a coffee before catching our train back to Frankfurt Airport, and stumbled upon your charming café and were so glad we did! I wanted to especially highlight the delicious coffee and the absolutely fantastic pistachio cake we enjoyed. It was truly one of the best pistachio cakes I've ever had! The rich flavor and moist texture were simply delightful. Beyond the delicious treats, we also appreciated the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the café. The staff were friendly and attentive, making our visit even more enjoyable. Thank you for creating such a wonderful space and offering such delicious food and drinks. We truly enjoyed our time at Günay's Café and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great coffee or cake experience in Mainz. Best regards,
Pradhumn T — Google review
They have lots of cake selections, and I picked the pistachio with chocolate. It was a little too sweet for my taste, but if I had ordered a black coffee instead of a cappuccino, it would have been perfect!

Do you wanna have a huge breakfast which never ends? Go to Günay’s cafe and try the breakfast for two+ sucuk tava and enjoy the real taste of tea. I was there with my friends when we were so hungry and tended to spend some good time in a cozy cafe and enjoy the food. For sure it was the best option in Mainz. Based in what we paid we got a great breakfast, fast service and good atmosphere. Highly recommended for breakfast

This is our most favorite place for Turkish breakfast. The perfect combination of breads, eggs, marmelade, honey, mascarpone cream, slices of cheese, salami, olives, pickles, fruits, vegetables, and warm tea for breakfast on a weekend - with the perfect balance between sweet, salty, and sour tastes. Warm and comforting ambiance and atmosphere make it the perfect place for a weekend morning.

This place is a great little vegan restaurant and Café offering a hand full of different burgers including the beyond burger as well as some noodle dishes and and salad. We ordered the no Chicken salad, which came in a crunchy tortilla and was absolutely delicious! I also got the mint-lemonade which the owner made for me without sugar. I was so full I didn’t order dessert but I will definitely go back as they offered delicious treats including tiramisu and carrot cake. This place has in door as well as outdoor seating and friendly service and I recommend going there if you’re looking for vegan food.

For one limo 6,9 euro and it was bad, the cakes were not fresh(maybe because it was sonnday) and the waiter was firstly nett but when we commented kindly that the cake was not fresh, she replayed that you ate them all that mean it was sure delicious. Maybr the waiter had a bad day or something i dont know. But 6.9 euro for this poor quality is too much.

(Translated by Google) The ice cream was delicious, but way too expensive! Unfortunately the price-performance ratio wasn't right at all. In my opinion, charging €7.60 for two scoops of ice cream with around 1.5 strawberries on top is not reasonable. (Original) Das Eis war lecker, jedoch viel zu teuer! This charming eatery serves up an array of mouthwatering dishes, from freshly made focaccia to delectable arancini, all crafted with care and passion. The selection of artisanal cheeses, air-dried ham, and salami is impressive and caters to every palate. The friendly owner adds a personal touch that makes each visit feel special.
(Translated by Google) Really super tasty arancini, really nice and friendly owner 😊 plus a small but high quality selection of other delicacies. However, you really have to be there early. Unfortunately, I've been there several times at different times and have only been lucky once that there was still arancini 🙈 Perhaps a telephone number could be added so that people don't start running "unnecessarily". And I would be very happy about gluten-free bread for the panini 😊 (Original) Wirklich super leckere Arancini, total lieber und sympathischer Inhaber 😊 zusätzlich eine kleine, aber qualitativ hochwertige Auswahl an anderen Köstlichkeiten.

N'Eis - Das Neustadteis am Gartenfeldplatz is an excellent vintage-themed store that offers a wide selection of delectable ice creams. The staff members are incredibly friendly and provide personalized service, even during busy times. They also offer coffee to-go and cater to specific customer preferences with additional options. Despite the small size of the place, there may be a wait of approximately 10 minutes during peak hours.
Best ice cream in Mainz! Used to go here about three-four years ago and they were awesome. Recently went back here and the ice cream is still way above anything else in Mainz. However it seems the word has made the rounds and now the wait is significantly longer although they open up another shop and sell it in a few locations. Still would recommend dropping by if possible.
Ralf S — Google review
Friendly staff. Daily changing awesome selection of non-standard ice creams like Riesling sorbet or salted peanut butter with caramel! Be prepared to wait when going on the weekends or around after-work hours.

Nice vintage set store with plenty of friendly staff and delicious icecreams. What I love about it is that staff even though they are very busy the offer a personalized service taking care of each person who´s there to get some goods. Offers coffee on the go and some little other things that will suit the most specific customers. its quite small the place so be prepared to line for about 10 minutes in pick times.
Lorenzo B — Google review
The ice cream is good and cheap, with a decent selection of flavours. The coffee is ok too. It is busy on Sunday evening but during the week earlier in the day there is less of a queue.

Great ice cream produced on a small scale. You can taste the ingredients. Some of the recipes are slightly quirky. Did I mention great ice cream?
Kai A — Google review
Best ice cream in Mainz. They have two locations, both will have lines at the busiest times. This one is my preferred spot, centrally located for a pre drink and post dinner treat. Recommend the dark chocolate if they have it.
William C — Google review
Concerning places where you can get ice cream to eat on the go, N'Eis is the new hip kid in town. This local start-up has innovative creations of ice-cream of very high quality, although the selection is very small. If you are looking for ice-cream in the town part "Neustadt" of Mainz, N'Eis is the place to go. Actually, the name can be read in many ways: (1.) As an abbreviation of "Neustadt Eis", (2.) A word play with the German habit to abbreviate the article "ein" with just an "n", so the name means "an ice-cream" in German, (3.) And the name just tends to let people pronounce it as "nice". Not so nice though: The place is very small, so it is very often a bit uncomfortable in there, when more than five people are lining up (which in summer time is very often the case). And I'd prefer them having a signpost which lists the kind of ice-creams you can choose of that can be read outside of the place.
Siegfried B — Google review
I heard that this is the favorite ice cream shop of many locals, and I agree. They have interesting unconventional flavors. Perfect location in a quiet area of Mainz.

The waitress was very attentive and brought me a different chair because I have trouble with low chairs due to my disability and told me that the accessible restroom was easily accessible. Thank you, that was very kind, we'd love to come back. Regarding the other negative reviews, it's probably often a matter of how people behave. Think about that!
