We had an absolutely unforgettable evening at Weinstube Hottum. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed like family. The host and owner personally helped us select a fantastic wine that paired perfectly with our meal, and every recommendation was spot-on. We tried the steak, the schnitzel, and the rump steak, and each dish was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and truly authentic. Sitting next to some of the host’s own family members made the experience even more special, adding to the warm and genuine atmosphere that you just can’t find everywhere. The combination of incredible food, thoughtfully chosen wine, and such heartfelt hospitality made the night one to remember. Weinstube Hottum is a gem in Mainz, and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone who wants an authentic and welcoming dining experience.

Great little wine bar in Mainz. We had the Schnitzel and rump steak. Both were excellent. My wife tried a local Riesling, which was very good. The service was excellent. The servers spoke English, so that was a plus. If you are in Mainz, I would highly recommend this place.

The place feels very local, they offer a great variety of food and wine. I had the schnitzel, which was amazing, and the brie(served in a way I’ve never seen before). Everything was really good, and I’ll definitely go back. As for the service, I’m not sure..maybe it’s just the German style, or maybe it’s because I’m a tourist in what seems to be a spot for locals only 😬but they didn’t seem particularly happy to see me. Not unfriendly, but definitely not the warmest

This wine bar is a beautiful place with a lovely rustic atmosphere, friendly staff, and good wine. However, if you want some water with your wine, be prepared to pay for it — they don’t serve tap water for free, even though the tap water in Mainz is excellent. For me, that’s always over the line. They told me it’s common in Germany, but just a short walk away at Weinstube Schreiner, they happily offer water for free. Personally, this is a deal-breaker — I don’t go back to places that charge for water. But if that doesn’t bother you, though, it’s still a nice spot to enjoy a glass of wine in the very center of the old town.

Not only the food is great, the staffs are amazing. Even in the most busiest time, they listen with smile, no stress and you feel you are very well taken care of. We always have great time here. Thank you 💕

A well done 200gr filler steak. Wow wow wow. Still very soft and juicy and slightly pink in the inside. The corn was sweet and delicious, the staff was very kind. Honestly a very good experience!!

5star for the food and -1000stars for the Menu. This is not how a Menu should Look like in an almost expensive restaurant. At least using the SMS system in the Phone and making a screenshot and using it as Menu would look better and readable as what is in front of the customers called menu

Amazing dinner...think it was the best steak of my life honestly. Got the 200g filet medium rare and the salad with the orange mustard vinaigrette. Like everyone else says definitely make a reservation. I was alone on a Friday night and called about 3hrs before and they were wonderful enough to get me a table but that was just luck I think. If you want an amazing steak dinner with friendly service in Mainz Steakhaus El Chico is your spot.

My favorite restaurant for steak. Best in Mainz!! I always come here every times if I visit Mainz city. I cannot missed the steak here. The quality of the meat and the perfect cooking here made steak become juicy in perfect condition. I would like to try the pure beef then I only order the steak without any sauce or decoration. It’s perfect!! I suggest to book the seat in advance because this restaurant is always full. Otherwise you need to come during unusual dining time to get the seat. As I said, come here when you have visited Mainz is a must!!

Good place to eat burgers in Mainz. Planty of options for vegetarian and vegan people. The burgers, sweet potatoes fries and drinks were really tasty. But prices are really high for a menu (25€). We've been there two years ago and prices were much cheaper.

I was there with my friend. She ordered a "classic burger (hamburger)" with "kartoffel chips" and "vanilla matcha lemonade". I ordered a "grilled chicken burger (Elter Gockle)" with fries and "Blueberry mint ice tea." The next time I was there I ordered the same burger but "peach lemon ice tea" and my friend ordered a spicy vegetarian burger (I forgot the name). The hamburger that my friend ordered was okay, tasted like every other cliche hamburger, therefore was overpriced I'd say (10 euros). My burger costed me almost 13 euros but was really good, I liked it a lot, the mushroom sauce was very tasty, and the hashbrown in it gave really nice flavour. Overall I loved that burger. I ordered it with multi grain bread bun, which I liked the best among all their buns as well. Now regarding drinks, the matcha vanilla lemonade tasted good to me, though my friend said she cant really taste the vanilla, which was kinda true but still not bad. I had a bit of an issue with ice teas, my blueberry mint ice tea didnt have much flavour, I believe it should have a lil bit of lemon water or syrup to enhance the flavour. Same goes for my peach lemon ice tea, I order this one thinking it will have more lemon flavour, since it was written and I wanted lemon flavour but the thing was that there were only lemon slices on top, there was no lemon flavour. A squeeze of lemon or lemon syrup would again work nicely here! Overall not bad! Just a lil over priced cause the burgers don't come with sides. You have to pay almost 5 euros more for the sides. Still, I'd recommend it, cause it was nice. The interior was quite pretty as well.

Delicious food—and so much of it! Fun and tasty drinks. And such kind service! They even brought us bonus fries (yum!). We dined outside and it was a lovely evening to enjoy Mainz. We hope to be back during our visit.

Amazing restaurant sauces. You can buy them as well, and we definitely could not resist buying an orange mustard sauce after our second visit. The grill sauce is also very good. Their regular and sweet potato fries are both great and the lemonade with mango and ingwer was fantastic. However, their main meals - the burgers - are unfortunately disappointing. The burger bread is too soft and the overall taste is meh. The restaurant itself is wonderfully decorated and their staff are generally friendly.

Really nice old pub vibe. The prices were great for the food quantity. Had the chicken schnitzel with creamy peppercorn sauce. Chicken was perfectly cooked. It also comes with a salad and potatoes, which were amazing. I’d recommend the small size for €12.90 for most people. It was more than enough.

Visited from Toronto, Canada Great schnitzel, with big portions at a low price. Overall service was great. Really liked their Chicken stuffed with cheese and topped with mushrooms sauce schnitzel. Also try their fruit sparkling drinks.

Love this place! The creamy peppercorn and brown cognac chicken schnitzel are two of my favorites here. We also had the red cabbage and pretzels with cheese dip. So delicious! The service is friendly just know they only take Euro. Can't wait to come back!

A great place to enjoy reasonably priced and authentic German food. This venue has lots of character and friendly staff. The offering is simple and delicious. They have options for the size of the portion as well, keeping all appetites satisfied. An outdoor eating area is also available.

It seems to have lost its former appeal. The schnitzels tasted of old oil and the place looks a little depressing. The waiter seemed uninterested but was efficient and smile less.

The main dish was great (Jagerschnitzel), but these home potatoes were some of the best I've ever had! Both dishes definitely complimented each other. Price was decent (18 euros), and the waiter was nice and patient as we walked me through the menu. Great overall experience.

I came here twice with my husband and in both we were really well treated by Bruno. He is such a nice guy that you can see taking care personally of every tiny detail. Came through on a Friday night when we were looking for something outside of Frankfurt and on the way West to where we were headed. Found Bruno's and could not have been more pleased. Lovely food and excellent service - we don't speak German but Bruno himself was happy to translate the menu, inform, and guide us. We were happy with the gnocchi, salmon, and pork chops as a break from the traditional German fare we had been eating a little too much. Good value for the price, good flavors, filling portions. 5/5 thank you Bruno!

This restaurant was amazing. The atmosphere was perfect, our waiter Osiris was fantastic. He knew all about the dishes and offered great recommendations for wine to go with our meals. Our food was excellent. I highly recommend this establishment if you are in Mainz.

Great hidden gem. We didn’t stay at the hotel but saw the reviews and didn’t disappoint. Great cocktail options, the ambiance is great. Quiet, and the design of the bar and hotel is just beautiful. Make sure you go to the back room close to the lobby it’s beautiful. The food menu looks great but limited.

Lovely service and well-prepared dishes here at Adam & Eden. They also have a good selection of drinks and gins which was what we had with our dinner. Portions are hearty which made for a very satisfying meal!

We were there during white asparagus season and they really showcased the local dish beautifully. Did the smaller of the two tasting menus and every dish was delicious. Attentive but not overbearing service.

I had a wonderful lunch at Steins Traube. We did the light menu (menu legere) which came with 5 courses not including petit fours. The staff were very patient and kind with non-German speakers such as myself. We started the meal with non-alcoholic drinks and "snacks" (which overlapped with the starter of our menu). In our case, it was curried prawns covered with katifai. Then we had a burrata dish, a prawn dish, chicken, and dessert. All of the dishes were delicious and not too big or heavy which was fitting for the lighter tasting menu. We learned that the restaurant is owned by a husband and wife and the wife (Alina) served us some of our dishes and she was very friendly. Their kids were in the restaurant during our meal so it was cute to see them wandering around. Definitely recommend having a meal at Steins Traube.

What a beautiful evening at the currently most exciting restaurant in Rhineland Palatinate’s capital Mainz. The spot is located outside of the busy city center in Finthen where the Stein Family will welcome you to a fine dining experience that serves french and asian inspired modern cuisine. Philipp is the director in the kitchen and Julia oversees the excellent wine menu. What truly stood out was the attention to detail of every plate that we enjoyed in the 7 course menu - especially the langoustine course and tuna course were amazing. Julia and her team paired primarily local wines to every course - definitely go for the full wine pairing and come across some rare finds. 2 areas if improvement - the ambience could be improved by a more curated choice of music (sounded like a radio was playing) and secondly the super friendly service could serve the digestif directly at the table vs bring the already poured glass. Other than that an absolute must go to restaurant and worth the trip - we will be back.

This is the perfect example of euphoric happenstance. We were looking for a nice place to eat, at the very last minute, for a adult group of 14 people, and Steins Traube just happened to be able to accommodate us. We did not know the restaurant in advance and all we had to go on, was online reviews. Our expectations, based on the reviews, were high, but also with acceptance that high online praise, doesn't always follow through. And when we walked to the restaurant (admittedly in the seasoned daylight still), we weren't sure if the restaurant was still there, as it is hard to spot from the street. It is indeed still there and what a tressure it is! Everything, and I do mean everything from food to wine list, and everything in between, is absolutely amazing. And it is amazing because everything on its own stands out but put together it becomes something more. You can have good food and nice wine, but the service might suffer, or vice versa, and it leaves a subpar impression, but when nothing falls short, it just stands out as a beacon of culinary awesomeness. The senior waiter, David, was jovial, intelligent, attentive, fast on his feet, a master of his craft, and simply awesome company. The sommelier, Maria, was a great match to David's presence, kind, and a very knowledgeable professional, who we felt very comfortable guiding us through the pretty impressive wine list. I didn't count them all, but I think easily +1000 wines. The two made for perfect company to a wonderful and humorous dining experience. They were more than ready for us, and it almost felt overwhelming at first, as we had a large, late lunch, but they quickly altered both the suggested menu and setup. We settled on a starter and a main course only, rather than a four-course meal with added appetizers. And although we changed the game at the last minute, the quality didn't suffer - it was simply put: Extraordinary. From presentation to quality and taste, everything worked. I find myself sometimes giving 4-stars to other restaurants for solid effort with minor faults, and I stand firm that getting a 5-star review from me, requires a top-tier experience beyond expectations. And it has been years since I been enjoying a restaurant experience this much. To a point, where I made it a point, to ask for the owner's attention and compliment her on what she has built. The expectation regarding the monetary aspect of an experience like this is, perhaps of course, that you can get everything you want if you are willing to pay for it. Sublime establishments often charge outrageous fees for their services, and it ruins the overall impression of the evening, if the balance isn't considering both guests and house. I was, in this regard, positively surprised as well. I hope this restaurant stays with us all for many more years to come. Steins Traube makes the Michelin Guide works proud. I will be back, hungry, thirsty and happy.

Steins Traube in Mainz: A Culinary Experience to Savor Located in the outskirts of Mainz, Steins Traube is a restaurant that offers an exceptional dining experience. I had the pleasure of trying the Menu Prestige, which consisted of seven delectable dishes. The Amuse-Gueule, consisting of Gebackener Curry-Garnelencroustillant im Kataifiteig, was a perfect starter that set the tone for the evening. The crispy texture of the kataifi dough was balanced by the soft and succulent shrimp filling, infused with aromatic curry flavors. This was beautifully paired with a glass of champagne that further accentuated the flavors and the textures of the dish. Moving on to the second course, the Gateau von Elsässer Gänseleber, eingelegter Perigordtrüffel | Birne | Piemonteser Haselnuss | Brioche, showcased a combination of rich and earthy flavors that delighted the palate. The foie gras was silky and decadent, complemented by the sweetness of the pear and the crunch of the hazelnuts. However I found that the taste of the perigord truffle was a bit weak and lacked a bit of intensity. The icewine from 1984 was a perfect match for the dish, with its complex layers of sweetness and acidity. The third course, the Lauwarmer Kohlrabisalat, Zitrusmarinade | gebeizter Lachs | Imperialkaviar | Haferjoghurt | Dillöl, was a standout dish that impressed with its perfect balance of acidity and flavor. The citrus marinade added a tangy note to the dish, while the succulent salmon was perfectly complemented by the pearly caviar and the creamy haferjoghurt. The Riesling from Nierenstein was a great pairing, with its crisp and refreshing acidity that cut through the rich flavors of the dish. The fourth course, Jakobsmuschel in langem Pfeffer gebraten, Lila Spitzkohl | Rote Beete | Pistazie | Rohmilch Crème fraîche, was a highlight of the evening. The perfectly cooked scallop was juicy and succulent, enhanced by the bold flavors of the long pepper. The creamy crème fraîche added a richness to the dish, while the pistachios and vegetables added a crunch and a pop of color. The Sauvignon Blanc blend, specially crafted for the restaurant, was a great pairing that complemented the flavors of the dish. The fifth course, Bretonischer Knurrhahn, Krustentier-Safran-Sud | Bottarga | Artischocke | eingelegte Tomate | Calamaretti | Schwarzkümmel, was another standout dish that combined a variety of flavors and textures to great effect. The gurnard was perfectly cooked and paired well with the calamaretti, while the crustacean and saffron broth added a depth of flavor that elevated the dish. The restaurant's rose was a great match, with its light and refreshing character that complemented the seafood flavors. The sixth course, Variation vom Holsteiner Salzwiesenlamm, Rücken mit Pommery-Senfkruste, Gepökelte Lammzunge | gebackenes Lammbries | Zwiebelcreme | Speckbohne | Kartoffeltaler, was a high-quality dish that showcased the quality of the ingredients. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the Pommery-Senfkruste added a nice crunch and a touch of acidity. While the dish was high in quality, it lacked a bit of intensity in flavor. A more pronounced taste of the Zwiebelcreme would have elevated the dish to perfection. The dish was paired with a rich and full-bodied red wine, a Spätburgunder. The meal concluded with a dessert of Babybanane in Salzkaramellglasur with gebrannte Mandel, Limette, Kokos, Sorbet von Litschi, and getrocknete Ananas. The combination of the sweet banana and the tangy lime was a burst of flavor in the mouth, while the coconut added a tropical twist. The staff was outstanding, professional, and welcoming, making the dining experience all the more enjoyable. I would highly recommend Steins Traube to anyone who appreciates German wines, especially those from the region, and to anyone who enjoys fine dining with high-quality ingredients. It was a truly wonderful evening!

Indeed one of the greatest brunch buffets I have tried in my entire lifetime 🤩 I loved their breads! Fresh and hot right from oven … refreshing orange juice was served with the variety of food options and ambience was lovely.

Just look at the hot chocolate I got. For scale, this is a big soup bowl (if you order the big size). I've never eaten here but liked the drink and the inside atmosphere.

This place was our first meal in Germany. The restaurant was open on the weekend, so we popped in for a quick lunch. We ordered four schnitzel with beer and drinks. We ordered a small-size beer but were served a larger one and billed for the tall size. Overall, the food was okay and the staff was friendly.

Higher class feeling yet still affordable. Dinner for two with drinks was 60 euro. The entire place isnimaccuatley Clean. The food presentation is great and the portion sizes huge. The deserts oh ! Just wow! Most speak English so that helps alot.

I was a bit worried after looking at the reviews, but let me assure you! The bad reviews are 100% correct, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Trust me, we waited one hour for the wrong order. The steak & fries is just taking the piss . I came in thinking that you can never go wrong with a steak, i was right there. But trust me, they showed me that you can go wrong with everything else. A very beautiful place, and a great location. It is in the city centre, but still kind of peaceful, a lovely small fontaine and a small park just in front of it. The surrounding buildings are historical and just pretty to watch and enjoy them. The waiters are lovely, nice and with a warm smile on the face all the time, the food I tried is good (see picture) and maybe the best coffee in Mainz (in my opinion). I am new in Mainz, but I would definitely recommend the place. The only thing I really did not like is the Toilette, it was dirty and smelly.

The schnitzel is really terrible, burnt and dry as you can see from the photo. It's a very dirty place, there are insects crawling around in the menus they leave on the tables. Moreover, the people working there are very rude and disrespectful. It's a shame that there is such a terrible place in such a beautiful location. disgusting.

The coffee is very delicious and aroma is satisfactory. I tried Cafe Latte with double shots, and was quite tasty.

Nice location + cheap drinks during happy hour but people were quite rude. I understand that during saturday it is quite busy but it is not an excuse that they throw up pur orders on the table like without respect and education.

The ambience is nice and the food is pretty good. However they always seem understaffed and we always have to wait a very long time for the check or to order. They are still very polite tho.

Small but tasty menu. Very good Wiener Schnitzel. Grilled cheese is special...huge thick bread and delicious three cheese combination. Our first visit (lunch) we had excellent service. The second visit was for dinner and the service was fine but not great. Love the art and atmosphere.

What has happened to Pomp? For many years this was my favourite breakfast spot in Mainz. Now, Google says it's open on a Saturday morning but it's not. No signage to say they are closed. And from what I can see in reviews the menu is nothing compared to earlier days. Also, the website appears dead, so I can only assume the business is closing down? Pomp was one of the things we were really looking forward to visiting, as we do every time we return to Mainz. Not any more, though. Update: It appears that Pomp has closed permanently. A sign in the front window still would have been nice.

A very nice place to enjoy brunch in Mainz. Nice vegetarian choices, as well as traditional schnitzel. Pleasant seating at the tables in front of restaurant on the "Neubrunnen" square.

Delicious. Good breakfast variety. I only wish Germany had hashbrowns. I got the American breakfast. Fried eggs, cornflakes instead of fruit salad, bacon, and two big pieces of bread. The only complaint I have is that the milk was not cold, but that is because I am from America and we have cold milk. Great place for breakfast

Excellent breakfast, coffee, sandwiches, and light dinner options for vegetarians. The location on the Neubrunnenplatz has a certain buzz but is enjoyable and not noisy. Outdoor seating quality is somewhat hampered by the fact that many smokers are blowing second hand smoke up your table (a non-smoking part to the outdoor seating area would be appreciated).

They used to be better. Burgers and sandwiches are mediocre, but Schnitzel is good. Drinks are also good. Service hast lost efficiency and quality. In general, rather noisy. Uncomfy chairs. Be ready to pay a premium to experience better someplace else.

Food was good, wife and I had a pulled pork sandwich and roast beef teriyaki. Lost a star due to bartender pouring a full glass of wine back into the bottle, from I can only assume a wrong order and shouldnt be done.

What I liked most about this place was the staff. They were super outgoing and friendly and accommodate you as best as they can. This is a place where you can go with your whole family since they have a range of different meals. There are a couple vegan options but they are limited. For those who like to eat meat - the Juicy Lucy is a very popular burger. I went with the vegan pasta. There is also a gelato stand built in and of course indoor/outdoor seating. My

Juicy Lucy is such a tasty burger. The new owner was very nice to us. The girls also. U have to taste that burger.

Nice atmosphere, nice selection of cocktails and wines but I stuck to the beers. They have several Paulaner beers on tap. Most of us had the Juicy Lucy. It’s a “don’t put me down” burger! Really good to say the least and really juicy.

Pretty good Italian restaurant, with some non-traditional dishes. No English menu available, but waiter did a good job of helping me out. They also have a Gellato cafe, homemade, and delicious.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Mainz. They have nice classic French dishes, friendly and warm staff ( senior ladies), good wine list with reasonable prices. We had dinner during Easter Sunday. We managed to get a table by calling the phone number, using my basic A1 German language as the lady does not speak English, but she was very accommodating and hospitable.

This is really a hidden spot in Mainz.... you will not find a tourist here... they don’t know that this lovely place exists! Have a look at my pictures... food is excellent! The wine list is outstanding... and the interior design is... highly unique! You will not find another place in Mainz to get more for your money!

Came here for a birthday dinner. First off we got welcomed by the staff glaring at our dog. Got seated at a table where not even 3mins after we were asked what we want and pushed into getting multiple courses and wine. We declined and just ordered the main meals and i got the soup too. The soup was actually really good and i do recommend it. The main dish on the other hand....yeah really bad. The meat barely had any flavour, was very veiny and bled all over the plate,the taste of blood still lingers in our mouths. The cabbage was bland just like the rest of the plate honestly. When we were asked if we liked it we told them how no, we didn't, of course we got greeted by glares and no apology or word of a compensation which is usually custom to do. We paid a decent amount of money for a meal that wasn't worth half as much. Other things to point out: 1. Our dog wasn't allowed to drink in the restaurant, we got told there's a water bowl in the courtyard. How shameless 2. From the looks of it the young waitresses don't get any tips, the older ladies are always the ones who handle the bill which is also shameless, never seen before Conclusion. Not worth it. The soup was good but that's about it.

Run by a matron who likes to ask if you’re enjoying the experience. She doesn’t speak English but there’s Google translate nowadays. Coming from LA i thought the price was great for the quality and experience but then anything comparable in LA would’ve cost me 2-3x after taxes and tip.

Unique neighbourhood restaurant, very authentic and absolutely great food and wines of course. So good that we went twice on a weekend, for lunch and for dinner.

The restaurant was packed during lunch time that we went. That is, full of Portuguese people and this is apparently a go to restaurant for them. The food is typical Portuguese with good seafood selections. We tried the Aioli, bread, croquettes and olives for starters and moved on to grilled squid, Calamares, Salmon and pork steak for main course. They were all okay. The person on the next table ordered a Bacalhau and he said it was fantastic and I quickly regretted not ordering the same. The Portuguese red table wine was good and suited the dishes. For 4 people the price was normal ~ rounded it up to 100€. Best to call for reservations.

Just went there for dinner tonight. The shrimp was very tasty and fresh. The sauce on it was great. It was oily and spicy (just the way I like it). They peeled the mid section of the shrimp already to allow more flavor to get in. Then came the little clams and pork. The pork was a bit like adobo pork. It could have use more cooking time to break down the pork so it's even more tender. The flavor combo was just great. Most people don't think of pairing clams with pork in a dish but this worked really well. The last dish was a bit like bouillabaisse with rice in it. By the time it came, we couldn't eat anymore. With that said the clams dish and the bouillabaisse with rice are meant for 2 people to share. Don't order multiple 2 person dishes like us. Pick one and try another next visit. Staff was very friendly and prompt. There's a parking structure nearby. When you walk in you'll be greated with a very delicious smell. Wine selection was tasty. Just a great little place to get a taste of Portugal.

Stayed here and had dinner in the beautiful garden on an absolutely wonderful spring evening. Food and drink were excellent. Service was solid - not excellent as they could have checked more regularly and likely sold a bit more vino! Rooms that face the street can be a bit loud but not unusual for a city center location. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. So good I’m staying again on my next long layover!

I’ve both stayed and eaten here and it was a solid 4.5 experience. Would very much recommend it and return when in Mainz. The rooms are well appointed and clean. The street can get noisy. That seems self evident from the location. The bathroom is tiny- this also seems reasonable given the age of the building. The breakfast buffet had all the usual things very nicely presented. One my second trip to Mainz we finally ate at the restaurant. Our Flammkuchen, Salmon and Potatoes, and Burger were all very good. The wine selection is excellent. The service was smooth in both English and German. We didn’t reserve, on a Saturday night, but they managed to find us a place in less than ten minutes. I loved everything about the place except the fact that a carafe of water was just so expensive. I realize this is the norm in Germany but if I’m paying 15- 20 EUR for a plate of food just give me a glass of tap water on the side. It will probably inspire me to order more as I can stay longer. The prices aren’t low but the portions were generous and the food was very good. I would happily return.

Great place to stay. This seems to be a restaurant first and hotel second, but it's all run locally and in a really neat historical building in the heart of the old city center. It's a perfect location; everything worth seeing in the city center is walkable. If you're looking for a luxury hotel this isn't it, but if you're looking for a really nice place to stay in a great location and locally operated this is perfect. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable.

We Only came to eat. The women on the phone was kind of rude. She just hang up on us. I understand you might be busy. But you still can be pro. The Service looked like they are trying their best. But looked like most of them have Hard time to understand german. There came later on one sunshine who could understand everythig. Short hair girl. Very friendly. All were friendly expecting the women. On the phone and who was greatinf on the entry.. The surrounding is amazing. We loved the candle lights and the woods tables. Absolute 💕 we loved all desserts. Handkase we missed lots of onions and some butter. Rest of the food was very good. So despite of one rude women. I could recommend to visit here.

This has been a really frustrating experience. The hotel is in the city center, which is great, but the noise is unbearable. People have been laughing and talking loudly since the afternoon, and now, even past midnight, it still hasn’t stopped—not even for a second. I have no idea when it will finally quiet down. If you’re sensitive to noise, be prepared—bring really good noise-canceling stuff, unlike me, who’s stuck here, exhausted but unable to sleep.

The room was clean and location was great. Although or check-in was pretty uncomfortable, as if a friend was helping out checking in. Other than that, we were aware there was no AC but opening the window was not an option as it’s the busiest back street. And finally, our shower phone didn’t work, you couldn’t hand it so it was only possible to hold it the whole time.

If I had a team member like Justin, I would address the issue immediately—such behavior can have a ripple effect on both guest satisfaction and team morale. Despite this horrible encounter, I decided to give Hof Ehrenfeld another chance the next day because I genuinely enjoyed the place in the past. I called to make a reservation and spoke to a polite gentleman who confirmed my booking, though he failed to ask for my name. When we arrived for our reservation, the hostess refused to seat us, claiming there was no record of our booking. This situation made us feel like imposters, adding insult to injury after the previous day’s experience. I was shocked and disheartened by the sheer lack of professionalism and the dismissive attitude displayed by the team. It’s appalling that a restaurant of this caliber employs individuals who tarnish the experience for loyal patrons. Hof Ehrenfeld is now off my list for good. What a shame to see such a lovely establishment ruined by its staff’s vile and unprofessional behavior. I would strongly caution anyone considering dining here—there are far better options in Mainz where your presence will actually be valued.

It's sad to see bad reviews just because the service was "too slow", or because they brought Rose instead of Red Wine. People get frustrated for no reason. Come, try to relax and eat, enjoy your company and try to be friendly to the service, that's all you need to do. Salad- nothing mind-blowing (especially the dressing is pretty fatty, and tastes like from the discounter supermarket. Schnitzel- probably best choice. Don't expect too much from German customer service. The waitress was normal. When we pointed out that there were little pieces of something in the espresso (which apparently is a normal thing with their machine) she could have been a little more customer friendly as those pieces aren't supposed to be there. İf you want to spend not too much money on ok food where parking lots are guaranteed, this restaurant is going to be your best friend :)

I had a disappointing experience at this Starbucks location on July 5th around 6 PM. I ordered an iced latte, but was informed they were out of ice and that the drink would be made with cold milk from the fridge. I agreed, expecting at least a chilled drink. One of my favorite cafes in Mainz! The location (for me) is extra ordinary, I always chose the last table looking toward the garden and I sit there, enjoy the surroundings and read.. mostly all staff members are friendly, only one of them was extremely rude as he decided to reserve the table while I was still having my juice as a (polite?) way to ask me to leave or to order! I had the Amaretto Becher, which was absolutely delicious and decadent with a lil kick of alcohol to round everything off. It was a pretty short wait to get our orders and during that time we enjoyed a bit of people watching. 😄 A clear recommendation especially for nice warm spring or summer day🌟

I had a scoop of the Cookies gelato (it’s a Biscoff-type cookie, not like cookies & cream flavour) on a cone! It was good, very smooth! Lots of the cookie crumb mix-in which I always like. Pretty cheap too - 1 scoop for €1,80! The person who helped us was cheery.

Very cozy coffee shop. I really liked the patio seating by the fountain outside but the inside has comfy chairs. They can do table service if you dine in but you can also just order and pay at the counter. It seems very popular with the hipster crowd but based on my experience it can be a welcoming place for anyone. The two baristas were both cheerful and patient with my not-good German. The menu is very vegan friendly - there are vegan options for sandwiches and baked goods, and there’s oat milk for drinks. I got a Blumenkohl panini, a Mandelkuchen, and a Chai Latte. I was a fan of the panini, the smashed cauliflower in was actually very flavourful with curry-esque spices. No complaints on the latte. The Mandelkuchen fell short of my expectations, I thought it was on the dry side, although the strong almond flavour was nice. If I had been able to see a cross section of this before I ordered, I would’ve gotten something else - the cake hadn’t been cut into yet when I ordered. The other cake slices looked better. Everything is priced reasonably - my total was about €14. It’s the kind of place I’d probably go to all the time if I lived here.

Small, cozy coffee shop with several vegan food options like cake and sandwiches. Staff isn’t particularly friendly, but the atmosphere is nice. In addition to coffee, they also serve beer.

Very English friendly, pretty clean restrooms, and the coffee was really good! They were open when lots of other shops weren't on boxing day, so maybe a good stop when you're out and about in Mainz.

Have to try their carrot cake! Can’t miss this one! Moistness and sweetness just at the right spot! Pair it with the Apfelschorle for refreshment and trust me, it’s filling enough to be a meal. My partner had the other cake (right). Not sure what that was and if it was good. But he seemed to like my carrot cake more because he ordered another piece of carrot cake after his one was done.

We had a nice desert, the carrot cake was exquisite. The Sachertorte still needs improvement, but this was acknowledged by the personnel. A price reduction would have been more welcomed in this case than the possibility to change, as no comparable options existed.

I love the luxurious design. It’s located in the center of“Altstadt“. The first time I try drinking Cafe Corretto, which combines espresso with alcohol, it’s interesting.

Cute and cozy little cafe very near to the Mainz main station. The cake we tried was yummy, and perfect for our taste buds. The coffee and hot chocolate, both hit the correct notes for us. The lady who served us was patient, and let us know all the options to choose from. All in all, we had a wonderful time, and would love to go in again for breakfast.

I was at Hygge for lunch and must say that I was very satisfied with the cozy and relaxing atmosphere. The Couscous dish that I had was delicious and the staff was very friendly and nice. The breakfast at Hygge is also very recommendable. The restaurant is super close to Mainz Main Station, which is convenient. Additionally, you can pay by card if you spend over 10€.

Cozy place with a nice little menu card and daily changing lunch offers. I had scumbled eggs and overnight oats for breakfast and can't complain. Prices are super fair and the people were all friendly and welcoming.

Simply delicious! We went there three times during our week trip and tried everything- pancakes, waffles, eggs. Such a lovely spot. Reasonable prices. Flat white was better than cappuccino:)

I love the fact that the menu is often changing. The atmosphere is great, but tables are narrow and very close to each other. I absolutely loved the starters and desserts, but was slightly disappointed with the main. I had the feeling they try to add expensive ingredients to the dish but the combinations didn't work so well, it was missing a kick of flavour. The service was good but the waiting time was quite long. Overall a nice experience, but will probably not go back.

Great food, if you ever get it. I was recently here during a lightshow festival, and apparently the management decided to open the outdoor seating while keeping the indoor open as well, but did not staff for it. The wait for everything was excruciating. A German friend of mine even told me that this was the first time in his life he had ever canceled an order. To be clear, my issue is with the management, not the staff. They were doing the best they could, and it was noticed.

Food was decent. Ordered the steak that was not tasty. Pommes was undercooked. The side salad was the best part of the meal.

The waiters were very nice but the head of staff guy was unprofessional and uncomfortable to us. Not very nice vegan options and the food was nothing special. They were also very understaffed wich was not fun for staff or guests.

Best format of the Restaurant I've ever visited! Absolutely cozy place at the nice district of the city. There is a lot of Cafes and restaurants around. And at this place you can only buy drinks (they haven't any food) and order any food from the restaurants around. It's an Italian restaurant, Sushi, Fish restaurant, Thai, Vietnam and even Kebab (Dönner). So you need to pay for your food to the waiter from restaurant (don't forget to give them a tips) and for a drinks you will pay layer for the waiter of Zeitungsente. Stuff are incredible nice. Dog friendly (your dog can also get a drink here).

The cakes are really good however the owner (older lady behind the counter) is very unfriendly and seems annoyed by any question that is directed to her by paying customer. Why be in a customer facing business if you don’t like talking to customers? Looking at other reviews this doesn’t seem to be an isolated incident. Get your cake to go if you plan to visit this establishment and enjoy it in outside if the weather is nice or at home.

Delicious cake but most likely the worst service ever. I came to order a carrot cake for my husband. I had two wishes: 1. to have a bit less cream on it - not possible. Okay. 2. To have the small size of the cake - not possible. In a few moments possible but I was treated like a trouble maker. Next day I picked it up. Different personell but again soooo unfriendly treating me like I was bothering them.

Nice locations, and the cakes look pretty good (I took just a jasmin tea that was ok). However, the staff is not very helpful and not so pleasant, but not unpleasant though. So, in the end it is ok, but you can find something better around in the city center.

That's the most awful experience we've had in our lives from all the countries that we've been to. We have bought ice creams for all our family, our children were super excited to eat it there and by the time we tried to position ourselves at a free table we were told off in the most rude manner to get out and move away. The tables were only for orders from the menu but when I asked to see the menu and order something they said there's no menu and we had to leave with our disheartened children and to explain to them why we are NOT coming back to this awful place with unmatched bad service and we would make sure to tell everyone that is looking for a nice ice cream place to surpass it BY ALL MEANS! Their staff was with no knowledge of other languages and you can only pay by cash if you want to eat their filled with water ice cream... Not good products and ever worse service! Save yourself the bad service and find some another place in this beautiful town!

To small tables. We became bill as we were on drinking our coffee. And we felt not comfortable because of waiters,they took our cups and plates as we were sitting and I was finishing to drink my coffee. They were just nerved about us that we still sitting there but there was a lot of tables free.

My favorite restaurant in Mainz! It’s 100% plant-based and they have several glutenfree options (the only downside is that their menu doesn’t seem to be accurate when it comes to labeling allergens, and they really need to revise the menu for the sake of their customers’ safety). This place was great. Huge selection and felt spoilt for choice. The pho was rich with flavour and filling. Everything else I saw on the menu looked appealing. Had a lovely lunch on a hot day. We were able to choose where to sit as it wasn't too busy and got a table right by the open window. The server wasn't pushy at all, but in reach whenever we needed him. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to answer our questions. The food came out in a timely manner and was very delicious, only some of the salad (on both plates) was a bit bitter for our tastes. They were out of the burgers when we were there, but as I got a delicious alternative I didn't mind!

I’ve never been here until now because I heard that they revamped their whole menu into a vegan only menu this month. This is the first Vietnamese all vegan restaurant in Mainz and I highly recommend going there. The restaurant itself was super beautiful with lovely seating indoor and outdoor and the location is convenient - close to the Mainz hbf. They had everything from to vegan sushi as well as noodles and soup dishes. The staff was super friendly and I recommend going here. You can also order with Lieferando. (Edit: I went back again and tried another dish number 20. Bun Dao and it was absolutely amazing)!

Great coffee store with the friendliest baristas. I’ve been going here for about four years and their quality has only increased. During market days they can be found with the other stalls. This store is also a great place for coffee machines and beans, they’ll grind the coffee to your request (French press versus drip). Pretty mediocre bar, with nice interior but below average service. Quite a large selection of gins but no vibe to the place. Seats were extremely uncomfortable and lighting seemed a bit off.

It's still doable.There's two other clubs right next to it, so depending on when you'll go, you'll hear the music banging out loud, which could make sitting outside challeng. As the location is right next to the main road, it might be difficult to find proper parking space. The bar tender is friendly but the waitress wasn't that calm. We got served quickly as there weren't many people in the location. The toilet in this place however, makes for a trippy experience. After you locked the door you'll feel as if you're in a panic room and the decorations on the wall are supposed to give you jungle vibes but I couldn't help but feeling like someone was staring at you. The bird noises and the high ceiling didn't really help either. Other then that, the bar is clean although the disco music didn't really suit the emptiness. The concept of sitting comfortably doesn't really apply to this place.

Very creative place to go. You decide yourself how much from which flavors and also the toppings. I paid 5€ for 2 flavors. But Mango was not good, it felt they're cheap and somewhat watery.

The ice cream itself is OK but the prices are crazy. 10 euros for a small tub with a few toppings is simply too much for what you get. Half might be acceptable. Avoid unless you really want this kind of dessert.

*Attention* it’s not the regular tasted general ice cream. So don’t get surprised. Biggest advantage: you can make your own ice cream and choose the toppings. Drawback: Your guessed weight might be far away than the actual weight. So put some attention while making the ice cream. 😅

Ice cream was AMAZING, I had mango and grapefruit was the most delicious ice cream I have ever had. The worker was super nice and had a conversation with us about him and where he was from. Also it is self serve. Price for two large ice creams was 14 euro. Also the ice cream is gluten free and lactose free.

15 Euros on what was the worst attempt at a milkshake. There was twice as much milk as “ice cream” and he ran the blender so long to ensure that there was more of a resemblance to soup then anything. In the past they used to offer mediocre coffee specialties. Now an improved concept and way better quality. Great scone with butter if fresh-baked. Interesting selection of pastry and cakes. Some clients confuse half the salon for their living room. But staff is great. Outside, lots of ultra dirty ashtrays with worse ash odor than most smokers produce. The plant container even worse ash depot. On bad days, smoke seeps through window front into the salon.

This place was nice and comfortable on a hot sunday afternoon, providing shade from the boiling weather. The service was pretty good and we would go back again, it does get busy here and seats are limited (or was when we got there) The general area does not have a huge choice of resteraunts and this one was open all afternoon (some of them close in the afternoon) The beer and wine were nice , we didnt try the food this time as it was busy and we didnt have time.

The perfect combination of breads, eggs, marmelade, honey, mascarpone cream, slices of cheese, salami, olives, pickles, fruits, vegetables, and warm tea for breakfast on a weekend - with the perfect balance between sweet, salty, and sour tastes. For one limo 6,9 euro and it was bad, the cakes were not fresh(maybe because it was sonnday) and the waiter was firstly nett but when we commented kindly that the cake was not fresh, she replayed that you ate them all that mean it was sure delicious.
