Nice space with hospitable service. I ordered the sharing platter and there is a good variety. Every single option taste good and fresh. Portion is generous too. Would visit again.

Stopped by unplanned. We had a drink and a small breakfast outside, which was cosy. Hot chocolate was looking very good but wasn't that great. Unfortunately you couldn't choose for milk chocolate, only dark and white was on the menu. Croissant was really good. The waiter didn't seem that happy to see customers and kept explaining how much work it would take to make everything which was kinda odd.

Kitchen had closed, so tried coffee and cake. It was a good find!

We had cappuccino, latte macchiato, hot milk with chocolate and carrot cake. For me the cappuccino and latte macchiato were not good, very watery, could barely taste the coffee. The carrot cake was too dense for my liking.

I had the avocado toast and it was tasty. The ice cream was original flavor and good! They were friendly and the place was beautiful!

I had fried calamari (obviously frozen and it says so on the menu). there must have been around 8 wheels of squid, perhaps they should have added a little more to the portion. but still they were good for a frozen product. they brought some bread and a garlic mayonnaise sauce. and I also had a beer. total cost 13 euros. economic 👌

Drinks, service and atmosphere were great! Awesome place on the square in the sun. BUT, the fried tapas sharing plate was immensely disappointing. Calamari’s were rubbery, the fries were bland, the anchovies were tasteless… Just go for drinks and have a great time ;)

We came 40 minutes before closing time for a quick bite, but they did not want to make anything anymore unfortunately. We just took a coffee instead and I have to say, it was a good coffee! Inside looks cosy and nice, and they have a quite big offer of cakes as well.

This is a nice restaurant, with an esplanade that you might enjoy and a good cuisine. There are no English menu. The personal are kind and professional. Of course, you can enjoy several different beers (be aware that some have big alcohol content) I tasted the clamps and they are quite good. The portion is more than enough. :-) Prices are OK, according to the place.

I went for a lunch on last Sunday. Nice food , cozy place and relaxing atmosphere. The people who run the place are really nice and friendly. The buffet offers a large selection of different food, and it is refilled several times, so worry not you'll surely have enough for your money!! 5 out of 5, I 'll definitely go back soon!!

Food is really delicious. The cooker cares what you think and is really presentable, but it comes in small portions and I wish I had not ordered the cocktails. They were really bad, overpriced and had a poor presentation on a small wine cup.

Today I visited Mechelen, searched the internet for a good place to eat Italian food. Yet the young lady behind the counter refused to let me in, even though it was just me. When you own restaurant and give this character to your food, there is allways room for one more. Big dissapointment, I will not reccomend this. Absolute disgrace. 💔

I arrived kust before the closing kitchen time, but they gave me chance to sit and order. I chose a dish based on octopus..such a rich taste! I have also kindly requested to taste their version of Arancini with ragù..Even if dish was out of menu, the Chef prepared one just for me..WOW! Like my mother would have made it! Simply amazing!

We were there in a group of 5 people hungry like wolves and then we had small portion each time that we needed to share. We managed to do not cry but we leave this place hungry after paying the bill. the food is yummy if you are 2 and is a date that you eat average or little maybe is a nice place.

Nice yogurt ice, but remember this is one of the many stores they have in Belgium. Meaning that everything is organised in such a way to maximize profit. If you are looking for a normal ice cream, cross the street and get one at Julia's. Although if you like a yogurt ice cream with a funny topping, this is the place you should be.

Excellent frozen yogurt. Natural and monthly changing flavored flavored froghurt. Lots of topping choices (Harribo gummy bears, m&ms, mini-marshmallows, Oreo, Malteser & lots -real- fruit toppings).

I asked for 2 lactose free yoghurt and left with 2 frozen frozen frozen hard frozen yoghurts which were impossible to eat even 30 minutes after! It’s a shame! Now I better understand why the lady gave us the toppings in another cup… That was the last time!

I had a fantastic stay at Van der Valk Hotel Mechelen! From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and professional. The building itself is truly impressive – a beautifully restored historic site that combines modern comfort with unique character. My room was spacious, spotless, and tastefully decorated. The bed was very comfortable, and I appreciated the attention to detail – from the quality toiletries to the excellent lighting and quiet atmosphere. The rain shower was a personal highlight. The breakfast buffet was outstanding: a wide variety of fresh, high-quality options including warm dishes, fruits, fresh juices, and delicious pastries. The restaurant and bar area also offered a great atmosphere for dinner and drinks. The location is ideal – close to the center of Mechelen, but in a quiet area with easy parking. Whether you're here for business or leisure, I can highly recommend this hotel. I will definitely come back! 🥰

To be honest, it is not my cup of tea. I was invited to eat here, and it was good. But it is not something I would choose myself. It is very expensive for what you actually get. A meal for around 110 euro gives you 4 courses where you get a little bit of food on your plate. When I stepped out of the restaurant I was still hungry. The service was OK. But not speaking Dutch makes It harder to communicate with the staff. I didn't expect I had to ask in English. Eventually I understood that was the better option and it became the default. The toilets are hidden away in the basement. From where we were sitting, you had to walk 3-5min to go the toilet. A major downside if you have people (like we had) that use crutches to get around. They have an elevator to the basement, but even then not that wheelchair friendly. The ramps you have to use are sometimes very steep. At the moment (2025) it is rather difficult to reach because they are working.

I stayed in the hotel together with my husband during the 13th till the 17th of January, i hadn't looked anything up regarding the hotel since it was a business trip for my husband, i mainly joined as support. When i arrived i was pleasantly surprised, i love the architecture! The round bar and hallways are my fave + the water outside. (oh and they had fresh honey, i'm addicted now, ty) The staff was also very proffessional, and once you get to know them you can tell they're incredible people. I can't go in too much detail without giving away too much about myself, but i appreciate the help i received and the time i was given to ask questions. The energy in my opinion was very good and this was probably the first hotel i slept comfortably the first night, and this was before i knew the staff was this amazing. (makes sense now in hindsight) I had to stay in my hotel for the majority to do work, and it was more than enough for me, i am used to a little bit more but the pros easily outweigh the cons. Thanks again!

Stayed in the hotel for our group training, I must say loved the atmosphere what has been created here. It is very cozy and beautiful hotel! Enjoyed breakfast options and other amenities of the hotel. Plant a tree concept is the one which made me be impressed! I will plan again to come and stay here!

So its with mixed emotions I write this review. The rooms are big and really nice. The bed was lovely and one of the better I had in hotels for a long time. Nice breakfast buffet and good that you could get freshly made scrambelled eggs instead of the dry bulk made. Unfortunately the area is a big construction site so that was a bit bad but not affecting the stay. What stands out as negative was the restaurant with a strange Caesar sallad but when I ordered tapwater they had the nerve to charge 7 € because it was “filtered”… You should be ashamed and still think that should be returned!

Did the brunch there. Amazing! Fish, soft perfectly cooked meat. Lots of dessert! Lots of drinks included in the price also.

I love Niki's bakery red velvet cake, it is so decadent that it has made me their regular patron. Love the hearty banana bread, carrot cake, chocolate cake and the newly introduced mocha cake. If you happen to be around, do give it a try. Hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised as I was on my first visit.

Donut shop, nicely done well docorated, we had a speculoos donut, which was ok. Donut was a but hard, but itbwas end of the day as well. Friendly staff , its quite small and the seatings was more in a row then opposite of each other. For me more for on the go. I would pass again

I go here when i am very tired and need to enjoy best ice cream of the town. Staff is usually very friendly and cheerful unlikely in many other places of Mechelen.. Excellent ice-creams. They even have vegan friendly sorbets, of which I tried the Mandarine sorbet which was exceptionally good! My girlfriend tried out the pistachio ice-cream which I understood was very creamy and delectable too. Would really recommend this place.
