Quetzal The Chocolate Bar in Leuven is a must-visit for chocolate enthusiasts. Indulge in their signature Quetzal fondue, offering four distinct chocolates with varying levels of richness. In addition to their renowned chocolate drinks and desserts, they also serve delectable waffles topped with berries, ice cream, and your choice of white, brown, or dark chocolate drizzle. This popular spot has captivated locals with its abundance of melted chocolate and fountain-like fondue.
We stumbled upon this place and it was like finding a magical chocolate dream. I ordered the brownie supreme with the medium chocolate sauce (there are different levels of chocolate from light to dark) and ice cream. There’s coffee and milkshakes and waffles available but I had eyes only for the chocolate. By the way, the smell in the place is divine! The brownie came warm and it was amazing…I definitely felt that chocolate and sugar buzz soon after 😅if you love chocolate or even like it a little, try this place out!!
Olysha M — Google review
A very relaxed atmosphere. The waffles were freshly made although a bit too crispy for my taste. However the chocolate sauces more than made up for it as they were rich and decadent... definitely worth it especially at the price. The milkshakes could have been thicker, but as far as taste went, they were all fantastic.
Jeremy C — Google review
Very good waffles and tea! The waffle plate was very balanced with fruits, and the waffle itself was very crispy and delicious. I loved the tea as well which was served with a bite of brownie! It is in a good location and many students also visit here. I loved the atmosphere! ✨🍫
Bilge K — Google review
Amazing customer service by Eva and Pamela! This place has super busy peak hours, and I’ve honestly seen few employees at ANY business work as hard as these girls do, while still keeping a smile and a friendly attitude. I’m a big fan of the brownies, but everything is delicious.
Steffie F — Google review
Arguably the only reason to visit Leuven if you don’t live or study here 😅 this place is perfect for a sweet treat! And the staff are super friendly and accommodating
Ameen — Google review
Wonderful waffle, great service. Fun ambiance
Honra T — Google review
A nice spot to enjoy brownies and chocolatey treats 🍫 Friendly staff, and a cozy interior as well as a terrace with seating. Would recommend the Berry Supreme 🍓
Jonèl G — Google review
What a stunning selection of chocolate and fruit desserts on a quiet street in Leuven in a beautiful modern building. It's nice to sit there and enjoy the best Belgian sweets. We tried the brownie, moelleux (lava cake), waffle and milkshake and were all pleased with the selection. They have a menu cart with a QR code that makes it easy to navigate through all the available options for each selection. For example, you can choose the type of chocolate and supplements. Waiting the food was a bit longer then we expected.

Delicious and homemade Ice cream, friendly staff, beautiful view of the University Library, and very good prices (1 scoop is 3 euros, but 2 scoops is 5,20, and 3 scoops is 7!!). How can you not become "decadent" whenever you pass by this gelateria...?
Ana D — Google review
Best ice cream I had in years. Unique flavors, homemade and wonderful attentive owner. To recommend!

Thank you Baran for the tips and time with us and especially for the delicious ice creams ! Spas ! We'll be back :-)

I had a really nice vegan chocolate milkshake. The vegan speculoos tasted really good too, so hopefully I'll get that one another time. And the server was very pleasant and spoke good English, so that was a bonus. The vegan milkshake cost 6.50 euro; I don't know whether that's high or low for a vegan milkshake in Leuven.
Etan — Google review
Grannifrutti Slush drink here is tastiest and best ove I ever had. I recommend anyone this one. They use the most expensive syrup brand that's why the taste is so good.
Rogier A — Google review
Delicious ice cream and sorbet with the friendliest service you could ask for. And you can take in a beautiful view of the library while enjoying your ice cream. Great espresso as well!
Natalie S — Google review
Wow. Great tasting Gelato at a really decent price. 2,20 Euro for a scoop on a cone. I got Mocha and it tasted like it had just been made. The cone was crisp. Fantastic to get and watch what ever is happening beneath the Totem. Might be a bit hard to find currently while renovations are underway.

If you find yourself wandering the charming streets of Leuven, make sure to stop by 't Galetje, a beloved gelato spot that consistently draws in crowds. With its two convenient locations near the city center and a seasonal opening schedule, this place is a must-visit for ice cream lovers. The extensive selection of flavors will have you coming back for more—each scoop is crafted with Italian quality that truly shines through.
This ice cream shop is a delightful escape on a hot day! The flavor options are an absolute treat, with both classic and unique choices to satisfy every craving. The ice cream is incredibly creamy and bursting with real, high-quality ingredients. The staff is always friendly, and the waffle cones are perfection. Whether you're a traditionalist or an adventurous flavor-seeker, this shop has the scoop for you. A must-visit for ice cream aficionados!

Even though the queue is massive sometimes, the service is fast and the icecream is delicious! My favourite was the passion fruits flavour, if you like the perfect balance between sour and sweet that’s the one, I also recommend the raspberry flavour
Franciele M — Google review
Hands down 5/5 quality ice cream. ‘t Galetje is in a way quite charming, it’s got a nice seating area and it’s perfect located for both day and night time. Their ice creams are creamy, packed with flavors and the portions are humongous. It’s as good as it gets and the prices are fair and they offer some fun and different flavors too.
Anders W — Google review
Amazing ice cream and waffles! Homemade ice cream and waffles made on the spot! Very generous portions! The service is super friendly! There is a very nice sitting area outside!
Marie M — Google review
Even with a longer line, it is definitely worth the wait! The ice cream is perfect with the warm weather.
Alexander L — Google review
Nice, smooth, creamy ice cream. Pretty big amount of quantity in a scoop also.
Ik501515 — Google review
One of my go-to place for gelato in Leuven. Very good, but the price for it is quite high. They give discount per serving (-0.20 € per extra serving or so). I know places (not in Leuven) where they scoop 3 times their serving for 5 euro instead of almost 8€. But Leuven is a expensive city...

Stunning ice cream! There always a queue but it moves fast, don’t be put off. A must for Leuven!

Brunch restaurant
Bar Leuv, located at Parijsstraat 6 in Leuven, Belgium, is a trendy spot with a hip brick interior and neon letters displaying the motto "Leuv you." Despite being called a bar, it's actually known as the go-to brunch place in town. The menu features deliciously topped savory waffles, cauliflower soup, bruschetta, and a winter salad with mushrooms, feta, apple, and bacon.
The food is delcious here and everyone who worked there is very friendly. The waffles are so light and fluffy with amazing savoury toppings. Their homemade ice tea is some of the best iced tea I have ever had. Couldn't recommend more.
Torie L — Google review
Just average food and a menu with simple recipes. This spot is clearly popular, as it filled up quickly, and we were lucky to get a table since we entered for lunch around 2PM. My pulled pork waffle was just okay – the flavors of both the waffle and the pork were completely overwhelmed by an excessive amount of sauce. It's a shame, because the components themselves seemed promising. My friend's tomato soup and soft-boiled egg were also just average - not that they are difficult to cook. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasant enough. There were families with kids as well, but it didn't get noisy. I was hoping for more, and left a little disappointed. Perhaps their sweet offerings are a better bet than the savory ones?
Mario M — Google review
So delicious. Food comes quite fast and is always really yummy. Lots of options for brunch and can pick between hot or cold sandwiches/waffles, healthy bowls, pancakes and more. Always come with friends and have never been disappointed! 😍

Visites Leuven for the day and happened to have lunch here. Great staff and flavors. We had a BLT waffle and another one with ham. Really tasty and nice.
G R — Google review
Bar Leuv is a good place to try savory waffles. The waffles themselves are fluffy and slightly sweet, and there are a variety of cold and warm toppings. From what we tried, the Italian ham was good and the BBQ chicken was fantastic. What I didn't like about the bruschetta was that the bread slices were too thick, but the tomato topping was great. The atmosphere and service was good enough to enjoy the meal. I would agree with the rating 4.5-4.7.
Veronika “ — Google review
Came here for lunch with colleages. The restaurant was packed. I really enjoy the BLT (bacon lettuce tomatoes chips avocadom cream). The combination of flavors on warm crispy toast works wonderfully. The iced latte macchiato was nice and creamy. Great place to have breakfast and lunch.
Tam N — Google review
The most simple menu with a delicious lunch/brunch/whatever you want to eat I had the option of Bread, but there is an option for waffle for savory dishes in the menu Overall, a cozy and cute vibe
Fer P — Google review
Nice little bistro with an interesting brunch menu. We tried the salmon waffle and the pulled pork waffle. The salmon and goat's cheese was a great combination, but the pulled pork was extremely sweet - a flavour we weren't quite expecting from the description, which promised a slight spiciness. Still, we enjoyed the brunch. The service was quick and very friendly.

LEO Pancakes, located in Leuven, Belgium, is a popular spot for those craving delightful American pancakes with a variety of fun toppings. The cozy terrace along the lively Mechelsestraat offers a perfect setting to unwind and enjoy these delicious treats. While seating inside may be limited due to its popularity, the menu also includes yummy bagels and an array of coffee options. Additionally, LEO Pancakes caters to various dietary preferences with several vegan choices available.
Fab place for lunch, with a good vibe and friendly staff, loved the dog, and the food was excellent as was the coffee!
Paul R — Google review
Cozy and almost perfect place for vegans, unfortunately Pluxee card is not accepted. I would expect to be able to use the most popular voucher card, even if it has a small extra cost to the company. The prices are high enough to cover that.
Tamás R — Google review
Pancakes are really good! A bit on the pricey side but worth it. I was passing by this place always and I should have come here earlier. Haven’t tried the bagels but I will definitely come back here again to try.
Oguz — Google review
This is my second time at this place and I was not disappointed. The pancake menu changes so what I ordered may not be available. I really enjoyed the pancakes, it’s fluffy and massive. The toppings taste nice as well. I went with my mom and sister and we all enjoyed it. My mom and sis got the chai latte and they wouldn’t stop talking about it. I had the chocolate and it’s so rich but it’s a bit too. sweet for me I added a dash of water and it was okay. I will definitely visit again when in Belgium. The service was excellent they were so entice and nice. We had ordered the bagel special to share but changed our minds for it to be takeaway and they kindly agreed and packed it up. All in all I love their service and food.

Stopped in on the way to Spa to see the F1 race. What a nice small breakfast spot. The pancakes are very creative and fluffy, there were some nice options and the presentation was awesome. The cafe is nice and well decorated with some nice animal artwork. The staff was very friendly. I would stop in here anytime!
Dondré — Google review
Been here several times, tried hungry neighbors and the works. Both are tasty but liked hungry neighbors more, because it comes with scrambled eggs. The portion is big, love the sweet and salty taste. The latte is also quite nice. The only thing is that the kitchen is open, but it’s not a big problem.
Tegan — Google review
So good bagels and pancakes we came back twice in a short holiday 🥰 a must visit in Leuven!
Alex ( — Google review
A group of us wanted to try this place and it always looks nice but unfortunately it disappointed. Sorry to say that we all agreed it's probably one of the worst eating experiences we've had. The pancakes were extremely dry with the fruit and there was hardly a drizzle of syrup and nothing to make them moist. Felt like we were eating cardboard and found it difficult to cut into them. Unfortunately not a place we will be returning to. Nosh pancakes are definitely so much better.

Le Graal is an elegant and unique Italian bar nestled near St. Peters Cathedral, offering a taste of Italy without leaving town. Run by an Italian family, it serves authentic Italian breakfast with foamy cappuccinos and warm croissants. The cafe's menu features mouth-watering pancake options, including a favorite with banana, as well as delectable tiramisu.
It's my favorite Café in Leuven! It's hard to find good decaffeinated coffee, and their decaff is amazing! It even comes with steamed milk. All the pastries are baked in the Café. It's sooo good 👍 highly recommend!

ZUUT Leuven is a charming and sophisticated dessert shop that offers an array of delectable pastries and desserts. The elegant presentation of their small cakes and pastries makes it a perfect spot to enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea. The friendly staff adds to the inviting atmosphere, and their custom-made chocolates are simply delicious. While some patrons may find certain desserts underwhelming, others rave about the quality and taste of the treats available.
I passed by ZUUT right before their closing time and picked up really yummy cakes. The guy working there was super friendly and helpful, disregarding the language barrier 😅 I tried the hazelnut cake and the chocolate mousse flake with pear paste, super light but they also satisfy your sweet tooth! Can’t wait to go and try other pastries with coffee!

We frequently enjoy takeout from this establishment when visiting Leuven, but on this occasion, we dined with friends, and I must say it was one of the best meals we've had here. The pastries were delicious, not overly sweet, and truly delightful.
Ruz G — Google review
Delicious cakes and tartes. For Christmas I’ve ordered cakes really beautiful and delicious. Staff is friendly. Their online service is one of the best. Go there and treat yourself with a small sweet tart and a cup of fresh coffee or delicious tea or other beverages. Recently returned and it was as always excellent service and quality. I returned there a week ago. It gets better and better. They’re offering a lunch with croissant and salmon. Always delighted to go there
Sara R — Google review
The Go Nuts was very delicious, good quality that is certain! (even if I would have made the crunchy bottom more chocolaty) But it’s really really freezing in there… doesn’t really make you want to stay and eat there. I had to take it to go.
Eloise — Google review
Was expecting more. It was okay dessert shop with beautiful presented small cake. They offer many selection of small dessert and goes well with coffee or tea. We're family of four and agree that it was great but not mindblowingly good. The server also very kind and helpful explaining details about the flavor.
Debby D — Google review
The croissant is very good! I definitely recommend. The passion fruit mousse however was a little underwhelming. I wish I came earlier in the day to see what all they have.
K. J — Google review
Quaint and elegant. If you want to elevate your tea or coffee time while reading a book or catching up with a friend, then definitely come to this place! I've tried their tiramisu-inspired pastry and I am not really 100p.c. convinced. It was tasty, but I guess my traditional tiramisu buds still like the old-fashioned version. But still putting 5 stars because damn, chances are, I'll fall in love with at least one of the pastries on display!

Sundae restaurant
Coupe Matadi is a unique ice cream spot located on an old river barge moored on Leuven's Vaartkom. The barge offers a picturesque view of modern apartments and old industrial buildings in the trendy harbor quarter. With a limited range of eight flavors, including unconventional options like yogurt with English lemon curd, this place stands out for its exceptional ice cream experience. Visitors rave about the natural flavors and minimal added sugar in their offerings.
I really love the shop concept that sell an ice cream on the boat. It gives me different experience. I ordered triple choco and it tasy, but just being honest it little bit pricy for one scoop ice . Overall I love this place. I will visit again to chill on the boat while having an ice cream.
Monica C — Google review
Since the owner asked. I think comparing it to other ice cream parlors the flavor is really lacking. People are very nice though and the concept is quite nice with the boat.
Junaid A — Google review
Vegan ice cream was quite good, the usual one was just ok. The price is quite high I think. Service was also not really welcoming. The place itself has a potential but I missed a really friendly atmosphere and really tasty ice-cream. Still think that it is worth visiting because of the location on the boat.
Liliia F — Google review
Kind and nice staff and pretty good ice cream with reasonable price(2.5 per one scoop and 4 for two). And the good atmosphere is the reason to go. But smell from stella is not good in night time.
Dasol C — Google review
Coolest place in town! Perfect mango-passionfruit sorbet, full of flavor, excellent texture. The place itself makes it even nicer. Nice to end a joyfull ride along the canal.
Alessandra L — Google review
A great place to stop for ice cream after a long cycle ride (me: Brussels to Leuven). Delicious ice cream (an excellent selection). Friendly welcome/ service.
Stephen B — Google review
A select choice of flavors, but the deliciousness totally makes up for this. Friendly service, who's willing to elaborate about the flavors of the history of the boat. Cozy and unique place, but might get a little crowded during peak hours.
Jeroen D — Google review
Reasons to love this place: - changing variety, but obviously homemade; - clean and well kempt establishment riding gently on the waters; - eat ice-cream or sorbet on the deck of a ship; - the owners use an air compressor to quick dry their scoops. Meaning there is no contamination between flavors and no unsanitary practices; - free additional biscuit to take along with your ice cream; - they're not stingy with ice-cream.

Italian restaurant
Ristorante Guzzi in Leuven offers a truly unique pizza experience that stands out in the culinary scene. This delightful eatery is the brainchild of renowned Italian chef Felice Miluzzi, who also runs the acclaimed slow food restaurant Rossi. After discovering a charming location with a garden during lockdown, he decided to create a pizzeria focused on organic sourdough pizzas. Since its opening in 2021, Guzzi has become known for its exceptional quality and innovative toppings that elevate traditional Italian flavors.
Stellar food quality. I got the 3 course meal and got carpaccio, tropea pizza, and the homemade pumpkin ice cream dessert. It was all splendid. The pizza was the star of the show. It maintained the Italian style in the crust and sauce, but added in fun and flavorful toppings which I loved. Carpaccio was amazing with apples and a crème sauce of some kind with focaccia on the side. The pumpkin dessert had a sweet whipped like crème, a vanilla wafer, candied peaches, and chocolate nuts. The bread really was the star with the focaccia in the starter and crust in the pizza being absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend
Christopher E — Google review
Fantastic Pizza in Leuven. Decently priced menu with rotational starter, choice of Pizza and dessert. Trust the creations of the chef and stick to the ingredients listed rather than trying to adapt. Only reason for loss of star was the wait between starter and pizza took nearly 1 hours after numerous reminders. Great atmosphere and great wine.
Joseph C — Google review
Authentic Italian restaurant, most (or not, all) of the staffs are Italian. Ordered pizza margherita it was simple yet very fresh and tasty. I went there during a very warm afternoon, the indoor ventilation could be a bit better. Seemed like they were doing interior makeover, the outside dining area looks very cozy with the garden, and the inside looks a bit empty. Anyway, the staffs were friendly and helpful, also great pizza!
Audrey L — Google review
Fantastic food.Pizza and dessert had a true Italian taste, however it was extremely expensive. The tables are so close to others which you could hear and distract by the next to you.
Nazanin S — Google review
I had a work lunch here. The food is very high quality. For some reason I had to eat a main dish that I did not order (it was delicious, but it was a cold dish of raw thinly-sliced beef, and at the time I preferred hot food). The waiter double checked our table's order after that course, but maybe they should double check at the beginning of every course for crowded tables like ours. I like their fancy cola and the dessert was really refreshing.

We came in 10 min before closing but the staff was friendly and polite to accept our order as we ordered take away. The prices are quite high but worth it as the pizza was very delicious. While we were waiting for the pizza, it was evident that the place looked nice and clean. Thank you!

Very delicious! Service was excellent, food was amazing. We ordered the Capricciosa and 4 Formaggi pizza. The appetizer was an assorted of fried seafood.

Come here for the great food and nice presentation! The lunch menu always offers something new, offering ingredients and dishes I often didn’t try many times before. Our waiter was really friendly. The green, calm, garden terrace is a great plus in summertime. What I don’t like is that the kitchen staff was going back and forth with ingredients and bins between the kitchen and bar, which doesn’t really add to a serene, professional atmosphere. And I would add a candle or two, but for the rest I am definitely going to return soon, especially for the lunch menu!

Mr. Crêpe is a trendy breakfast bar located just a stone's throw away from another popular spot. As the name suggests, it specializes in a variety of pancakes, including sweet options like vanilla ice cream, white chocolate, and banana as well as savory choices such as chicken with spinach cream sauce. The atmosphere is relaxed with slow jazz music playing in the background and both indoor and outdoor seating available.
Love this place! Usually not too crowded (which I don’t get why.) The staffs are nice, yummy crepes and crusty waffles. It seems they also provide wifi and power sockets. Might be good if you are with your laptops or tablets. I also like the part that they have decaf coffee as I sometimes get problems with caffeine.

Great crêpes for great prices! The portion sizes were also ideal for us: 2 crêpes per serving. We tried the Raspberry Jam and the Strawberry With Chocolate, and both of them were delightful. Mr. Crêpe is a great choice for sweet breakfast lovers in Leuven.

I don't know why the rating is so low, I was there twice and both times experience was pretty good. Nice chill atmosphere with slow jazz music, tables inside and outside are available, also an extra floor for another few tables. A menu looks like family-friendly with different variations of crêpes. Goat cheese is very tasty and very nice cider options. Like to go there for lunch.

Great smoothies and crepes. Friendly staff. They call them pancakes. Nice clean dining room with many tables and some outdoor seating.

The crêpes are delicious and the toppings they put on it are always tasty too. Lots of things to choose from, sweet or savoury. The service is great too. Would recommend it for lunch that's not too expensive but still special.

Ice cream shop
Pinocchio Waffles and Ice Cream is a popular waffle shack located near St. Peters, known for serving the best waffles in town. The storefront boasts tantalizing displays that draw customers in to savor their crispy and chewy plain waffles or indulge in toppings like chocolate, whipped cream, caramel, and various flavors of ice cream. Despite the lack of indoor seating, the friendly service ensures quick orders even during peak times.
Best waffles I've tried in my life!!! Very fresh, very tasty, Ugur is an amazing chef, thank you very much!!!!
Baran A — Google review
The waffles and coffee are really good, but bear in mind that there is no seating area, you can walk around or sit in the nearby benches. The person working there was a bit grumpy but the waffles are good and fresh.
Eman S — Google review
The ice cream was good, but nothing exceptional. Very friendly staff. The scoops are definitely large. The square nearby - perfect! Great place to sit down, enjoy an ice cream and the sights around.
Ik501515 — Google review
What lovely people service delicious waffles. You can get a simple waffle or add chocolate, whipped cream, caramel, and other toppings including ice cream! In fact they have quite a few flavors and all look delicious. It's a storefront without indoor space so you take your waffle and eat it walking or on a bench nearby. The waffle is the right sweetness and the chocolate is actual chocolate not Nutella. Even with a line service is pretty quick. If I lived here I'd be a regular. Male yourself a favor and stop here when you are in town!

The best waffle spot in Leuven! It’s hard to miss the delicious waffle smell every time we pass by this place. Our favourite here is Liege waffle with chocolate topping. Just genuinely really nice vendors. My daughter's ice-cream fell on the ground and it was replaced, free of charge. The ice-cream itself is also delicious and the scoops are large.
Esa D — Google review
If anyone visits Leuven, put these in upper list. Too good to taste. Both caramel and chocolate have been my favorite since I have tasted first. Due to my confusion, I always take both when I go. But take one, finish and then another one. If it’s in the air for some time, the taste won’t be so great. A must tasted waffle in Belgium.
Purnota T — Google review
Very unfriendly (male) staff and passive aggressive behaviors. I ordered an ice cream by pointing at them because I don’t understand the Dutch names. The staff aggressively said “say the name.” I was so shock of this lack of communication and politeness. The ice cream was small and mediocre as well. I would rather walk a few hundred meters to another shop. I don’t recommend.

This charming spot has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike, known for its generous scoops and friendly staff.
This is easily my favorite ice cream shop in Leuven. I usually go for the Bueno flavor but I have tried the Dubai Chocolate parfait today and I think this is the best parfait dessert I had eveeeeeeeer! Please always have this ice cream combo around because it is the bomb!

I thought i can only find strong beer here in Belgium, but never cross my mind that l will try one of best icecreams ever. Had to come back few times to try different things. Flavours are great, and this place is in location you cannot miss. Be sure to check it.

Once Pinguino, always Pinguino ✨ This place never ever disappoints. Never seen any ice cream shop with more vegan options (see picture), switching up the flavors every week or so. We thank you so much 🫶 The staff always greets you with a smile and the ice creams are always delicious and big. You are truly doing amazing! Ps: I go nuts for the 'Nuts about coffee' flavor 😉

The best ice cream shop so far in Belgium and one of the best (if not THE best) I've ever had, anywhere. We tried 4 flavours and could barely agree which one was better. The staff is friendly, the price is fair. Next week we'll come back to Leuven just to have this ice cream once again before my family goes back to Croatia. Stay as you are!

I am coming to Leuven for the first time, and my family knows I like ice cream, so they wanted to take me to the best shop in town. First impressions are really nice with a great visual presentation. Several different flavors, one better looking than the next. Everything went well while we were being served by one of the attendees. Very nice portions, and everyone was satisfied. Then it comes my turn to choose and I for some unknown reason tried to speed up the process and instead of waiting on the person already attending us decided to ask another attendee, mindful of the line behind me. Bad mistake, which I realized when she reached out to me with a very poorly served cup. I tried to hint her to that by putting it against another cup my family got from the other attendee. Unfortunately, that didn't trigger her to recognize her mistake. I am leaving this review in the hopes the standard can be set at the higher level. Please serve always the same to everyone and hopefully plenty and full portions.

With a commitment to minimizing waste, this delightful spot serves up not just delicious ice cream but also edible cones, jars, and spoons! Visitors rave about the vibrant flavors—especially the vegan coconut and mango sorbet options—which are rich in taste and perfectly sweetened.
Wonderful place. Delicious icecream (I tried two tastes: cream with lavender and espresso, both very good; there are also vegan options), friendly atmosphere and climatic surroundings.

Amazing place! A lot of nice flavours and especially a good variety of vegan options outside of the usual ones. Also interesting choices of sorbets. You can also get a gluten-free cone. Quantities are extremely generous and the ice cream is amazing. One of the best ones I’ve had in Belgium. Very kind service. Place is very cute also.

Too bad they’re out of cheesecake flavour. I shamelessly asked to try Lavender and Yoghurt flavours because I was sceptical but ended up buying both. Lavender is creamy and has just enough of sweetness while yoghurt with additional speculoos tastes just right. The owner is friendly too. Would love to come again and try other flavours 😍

Visited on a whim today and what a wonderful ice cream shop! The staff are super friendly, the ice cream is delicious, and the shop is so cute! Props to reducing waste.I will definitely be back!

Bittersweet in Leuven is a must-visit for chocolate enthusiasts seeking unique and innovative flavors. This chocolatier stands out by using unconventional ingredients like coffee, vinegar, gin, and cardamom to craft pralines with distinct taste profiles. The shop offers an array of unexpected shapes such as skulls and Lego blocks, adding to the allure of its offerings. Visitors are drawn in by the tantalizing aroma emanating from this quaint establishment near the train station.

I bought it as a present. I have tried only the tester but I can say its good chocolate. The receiver of my present said she was delighted with the different flavors and combinations. lekker!
Rish _ — Google review
Chocolate was just ok in my book until I discovered Bittersweet chocolate in Leuven; now I’m hooked! Located on the main road leading from the train station, Bittersweet offers top quality pralines in unique shapes and less traditional flavors. One of the most notable is in the shape of a robot that is ginger flavored. There are a few other unique shapes including what looks like a Lego piece. As for the flavors, you’ll find some with cardamon, rice pudding, and popcorn. There’s a new flavor - dolce de leche - that was incredibly addicting! Aside from the pralines that can be purchased on the go quickly in small, medium €20 or large €40 boxes (you can also select the pieces you want), there are seasonal items too. Earlier this year around Easter time they had massive chocolate eggs that looked like they were spray painted accompanied by smaller eggs. Bittersweet also sells chocolate covered almonds in a jar for €12 that are also easy to give as gifts or else treat yourself. Belgium is synonymous with chocolate and after visiting Bittersweet on each return trip to Leuven, chocolate is now synonymous with Bittersweet for me. Excellent service, ability to order in advance, exciting flavors and consistent quality. Highly recommend!!

The chocolate is shaped in a modern style, and looks absolutely amazing. Moreover, the people are very friendly there, and ready to answer any questions about their chocolate. It is indeed home made, one can see it happen, as they are working on it right next to the costumers. Nevertheless, the taste is a bit artificial, which makes it inferior to other local Belgian chocolate manufacturies.

Good bread and good selection. But standing in line for 30 mins to buy 2 crossaints is ridiculous. No one running the bakery tries to speed up the buying process. Story of most bakeries in Leuven though. Also, please head to Korst for real sourdough.

Such kind people! And I love they don’t throw out leftover dough for the croissants, but actually make ‘croissant wich’ with it. That’s how it should be; making fighting food waste normal! And the broodpudding, mmmmm!
Anneke — Google review
Fantastic small bakery in Leuven, the chocolate squares are for me the best thing to get here
Nico R — Google review
I read it from the reviews on Google Maps that everything in this bakery is made from sourdough. God knows how long I have been looking for sourdough bread in Leuven. This bakery closes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You can order the breads online two days before your pick-up day, then (I can only assume that) you can get your freshly baked bread on the pick-up day. I ordered a dark bread, a croissant and a cinnamon roll online and picked them up this morning. - The dark bread is indeed made from sourdough. It's very crispy on the outside, and moisture on the inside. It has a natural light sweet-sour flavor, which is exactly what I was expecting. - For those who love great croissants, their croissants won't disappoint you. Although I prefer having my croissant freshly out of the oven (burning hot), the croissants I received were quite pleasant. It wasn't warm, but the crispy level is quite satisfying. What impresses me the most is the distinct flavor of butter. I wonder how they managed to highlight the butter flavor without making the croissants too greasy. - The cinnamon roll is also a delight. It's sticky and sweet like a cinnamon roll should be, but not too sweet, and the bread is not soggy at all despite of the sugar frosting. They are also not cheap with the cinnamon. Good job! I suppose the only problem I have is that their breads are a little bit pricey. I give them four stars because there is always room for improvement. At least for now, I haven't been blown away by their product yet. All in all, it has been a nice experience. I will definitely come back for more. I'm already making plans for their multi-grain bread and nut bread.
Lady C — Google review
Sourdough is not enough to make good products. The bread is just ok, the pastry is terrible, it feels like old bread already in the morning, don’t expect real croissants or any laminated dough. Service is unfriendly and unprofessional. I understand there is little competition in Leuven but you can do better.

This is the best waffle place and a delightful selection of flavors. The waffle had a great sugar crust as is characteristic of Belgian style. The toppings for de turtle were sweet and meshed well and chocolate. Walnuts added a nice texture variety with its harder crunch. Thanks guys for the best waffles in the world

The waffles taste OK, but nothing special. The fruit toppings could be more generous and more elegant. It is clearly a take away place, do not expect any service inside. A bit disappointing. I googled around (briefly) and their site seemed to suggest they were a quality waffle house. When my girlfriend and I ordered our waffle they just heated one up in the machine and lathered it in Nutella. It didn't seem to be the quality product they claim to be!

Begijnhoeve Oorbeek is a fantastic spot for families, offering delicious ice cream and a closed-off playground for the kids to have fun in. The terrace provides a lovely setting to relax and enjoy refreshing drinks or ice cream while the children play. It's an ideal place to spend quality time with the family in a pleasant environment.
Very nice place especially with the kids. The staff we helpful and the ice cream was delicious.

A very nicely renovated monial farm. Had a great coffee. Can't wait to taste the ice-cream on the terrace in the spring.

4 stars, because they could have moooore vegan ice ;), else 5 stars, 2024 04 21: update to 5 stars, new flavours. They have added praliné and tropical, and dark chocolate (on top of lemon, banana, melon and raspberry). WAY TO GO! 2024 08 02: added Strawberry and Mokka

Great ice cream made with lot of passion. Other thing that I like about this place are the opening hours!! Opening hours that make sense!! 🍦🍨🐄
Marta S — Google review
Delicious ice cream in a beautiful setting, and all gluten free! What more could one ask for? Don't miss this place!
Emily D — Google review
Excellent homemade ice cream. Wonderful flavors, also without sugar. To recommend!
Aleksandra K — Google review
Very tasty home made ice-cream and ice-cream cakes; good selection of sugar free and lactose free ice creams. All flavours natural; ice-cream without artificial colouring or flavour enhancers. Friendly farmer lady running the business. The only drawback is plastic pots and containers. I'd gladly pay more for more environment friendly packaging. All in all, a highly recommended place.

Delicious ice-cream. Friendly and kind people working there with a smile 🙂. If you like real intense natural flavours you should really try this great Belgian gelato 😉
L B — Google review
Big variety of flavours and all super tasty. Also, the place is nice to sit in a sunny day. If you are in the neighborhood don't doubt to pass by.

Beautiful and delicious tarts. The girl that helped me to choose my products was really nice with good english. I bought really nice elderflower juice also with agave.

The smell in the shop is like the best perfume in the world: make you hungry and relaxed at the same time. Very unusual choice of tarts.

They have a very cute store with varieties of tartes and cakes. I tried their raspberry cheesecake and it is delicious. The staff was very helpful and made me feel comfortable with my choices . Will definitely recommend for those in Leuven
Niranjana S — Google review
I really love the tartes and tiramisu here! They have a fantastic taste, not overly sweet, which makes them even more delightful. Plus, the prices are quite reasonable. I bet you won't be able to resist having just one piece!
Thanatchaporn J — Google review
I thought the kofte quiche and Quiche Lorraine were excellent - fresh buttery pastry and good quality filling. My husband wasn't impressed with the salmon tarte and found it bland. Be sure to ask for a small size at €8 otherwise they'll automatically give you a large which is €24!
