Delicious kebab and burgers, and good portion size for value. But that’s kinda expected. Nice surprise came when Girl was hungry and we ordered spring rolls for snacks. I doubted it but they tasted really good! Also friendly and helpful staff and nice seating.

This is the best Doner restaurant I have been to. I am so greatfull to have it here in Plymouth. Staff are always welcoming and efficient despite the place is busy. Quality of food has been always great. I've been a regular customer since it was opened and I was never let down by food quality. I tried Doner places in other cities in England and in Germany, non of them beated German Doner Kebab in Plymouth. It is my kids favorite place for eating out. Meat is halal and they have vegetarian options too

I recently had the pleasure of visiting German Doner Kebab, and I have to say — it was the best kebab I have ever had. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was clean, modern, and welcoming, setting the tone for a fantastic meal. On top of the amazing food, the service was outstanding. The manager was exceptionally good and so friendly, making sure every customer felt welcomed and looked after. His warm attitude and attention to detail made the whole experience even better.

As always the food here was fresh and tasty. Unlike other places we were served quickly. We were served by a lad called Dhanush, he was brilliant. I wasn’t sure between some options and he was helpful and patient. Brilliant customer service. Highly recommend.

Friendly staff, nice food, yet a lack of information on the website. The menu on offer at the moment is heavily reduced, they are currently not offering starters or desserts and a smaller selection of mains than advertised on the website. There was also no mention of a reduced menu when booking. A reduced menu is completely understandable due to staff shortages, however it would be nice to know beforehand. Other than that, very nice food.

Really lovely burgers, the chicken burger came with two options- either grilled or fried breadcrumb. Came with onion rings and a decent portion of chips. Tasty though. Staff were friendly and pleasant, very attentive. Overall cost was slightly on the pricey side, but as we were visiting for the first time and possibly the last- worth it. The menu has a good variety also

Stopped at Hele beach for a quick lunch. Plenty of outdoor space in the sun at midday (open time) on a Friday. Chicken burger was very good, moist, big chicken breast. I was told the burger was also good. Only had soft drinks so can’t comment on alcohol. Area outside could be made to look a bit nicer, they were people putting up parasols and moving furniture around. About 9 outdoor wooden picnic benches and also some rattan style seats with tables. Inside and outside looked clean. Would return.

Great value for money. I chose to sit in and eat, whilst the door was constantly opening and closing with delivery guys. It was almost like an Olympic sport there were so many of them, which presumably is proof as to the popularity of this place. Friendly service at the counter, despite the constant movement of people! I was lucky to arrive before the rush of crowds!!

It’s a shame. the cod was really really good. But the chips were overcooked and tasted like it was cooked in old oil.. or I just got the left overs.

Having not been to a chippy in years, this place was a tasty and welcome reintroduction. I had the halloumi bites with small chips and a side of garden peas, which was more than enough for my ravenous stomach, so had to share with my partner. The halloumi was melt-in-mouth sumptuous with light fluffy batter, while the chips were not too greasy and the peas flavoursome. Service was very friendly and considerate. Overall, an enjoyable, affordable visit – and one I'd not hesitate to repeat.

The food is absolutely fantastic... I am a meat eater and have a fine taste for all things chicken! Hands down the best special chicken burger I've ever had in my life!! My parentner.. for all her sins, is a veggie and I quote "this is my favourite takeaway"!! The price is more than fair with the portion sizes extremely generous (try the cheesy chips)!! I was very impressed by the quality of the fish and chips that I ordered, the batter on the fish was really crispy and not soggy at all like many of the other fish and chip shops I've tried in Plymouth. The chips were really lovely too, nice and golden and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The fish was really chunky too, really nice big bits of white fish and it was clear that they hadn't tried to get 2 out of 1 by filleting it thinley. And tasted like it was freshly caught and fried in good oil. Service was great and very polite and smiley, I'm definitely going to the return again or get delivery from here.

Our first visit to Honiton. Found this delightful place down an alleyway. Going through the door the pub bar is to the left and the small tearoom to the right. The staff are extremely friendly and inviting. We only wanted a cappuccino but were tempted by the cakes. Both the cappuccino and lemon drizzle cake were lovely. We would definitely come back if in the area.

We just managed to squeeze my mother's wheelchair down the long alleyway before emerging out onto a quaint, tiny garden. We parked ourselves under a tree at the back and I then went into the cafe area to order our coffee. Here I had to ring a bell and then a nice lady emerged from the tiny kitchen and took both my order and my money. She then brought the steaming hot drnks in large earthenware mugs straight to our table. All good. By the way, the gents toilets here are an unusual work of engineering prowess.

The tea room is a lovely hidden gem. Food is ideal lunch menu. Staff have always made me feel welcomed

We stopped in Honiton on our way home from holiday when our toddler was losing her mind and this was a great find! Ticked away down an alley and well worth the detour for delicious scones, lovely staff and particularly delightfully clean toilets which I always appreciate. It was raining when we visited but the garden was lovely too.

We had a couple of tasty coffees here after a tough walk ... in the rain!. This is an excellent cafe which also sells home-made plain & cheese scones as well as otter cakes plus outdoor plants and shrubs. Well worth a visit.

Wonderful little shop with a beautiful wood fired pizza oven. Had 2 pizzas (both veggie) and they both looked and tasted amazing. Family owned and very friendly, we got served by his son and he did a great job for his first time. £12 pizzas and £4 sides make this amazingly priced too! 100% Recommend

Amazing service from the owner. Very welcoming and friendly. Chatty, wholesome - asked us questions and was just in general a lovely person. Definitely will be back. The potato wedges are unreal, same with the pizza! Just what was needed on a wet Friday night!!

The best pizza in the south west, no joke. My partner and I found Aroma by chance, I don’t usually leave reviews but I was so inspired by every element of the Pizza and the owners passion. The wood fire oven was hand crafted by the owner who’s service and homemade fresh ingredients out-rank every other restaurant or delivery pizzeria in Plymouth and Devon beyond, best bits: authentic dough Quality mozzarella Informative and friendly service, really enjoyed the passion the owner had for the health benefits of choosing the right ingredients Only £10 for any pizza is a bargain Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Plymouth!

Don't get me wrong, the food is nice and the service is lovely. I have been to a lot of ramen restaurants and had to compare honestly with those that have blown me away. The food was quick. All the pak choi and veg was clearly fresh. What let it down for me was the lack of flavour and interest in the dishes. The spice levels were very mild and there wasn't any notable flavours. I don't think this place deserves 4 stars only, but I do think it deserves slightly less than the 4.8 it is currently sat on. I hope this makes sense.

The food is fresh, cook in front of you, very tasty and the attention is excellent, friendly and quick. I only wish they were open later. My favourite is the chicken katsu curry, but the noddles are also amazing

Having regularly adventured to the food spots in the market, tea & bun have been by far my favourite! Fresh tasting food with wonderful flavours, all at good prices with great service to match. I particularly recommend the karage as it’ll beat any sort of fried chicken you’ve ever had.

Ive been here a few times and tried a few different dishes, and every time it never disappoints. The prices are very fair and this reflects on the portion sizes too. The setting and friendly staff make for a great atmosphere and experience. Definitely recommend 👌🏻

Respect to the restaurant for replying. Mixed bag on this one: -Halloumi Fries - Incredibly tasty, cooked well and a decent portion size for the price. My favourite item. - Korean Style Fried Chicken - Very tasty, again decent size portion too. - Stir Steak Tacos - Disappointing item. Meat was plain, the tacos had no sauce on them. Was a very disappointing taco, would not recommend. - Buttermilk Chicken Two (slider) - Photo for reference, but too expensive for £4.25. I get its a slider, but the thing was tiny. Flavour was mediocre too, bog standard fried chicken. Bun was nice though. -Chocolate Hazelnut Churros with Toffee Sauce - Was delivered so potentially affected the crunch, however overall mediocre. Tasty enough, but hardly any sugar coated, chrusos was floppy, and the toffe sauce left alot to be desired. Id recommend going for a nutella style sauce in future, or at least add it as an option. Overall placed is worth 3/5 stars. Has got some great menu items, but naturally with a larger menu some items wont be as good.

A chilled south American themed chilled slider bar which must be on your visit list. I came here off the back of a recommendation and I'm so pleased that I did. The atmosphere is really chilled with a mixture of soul and soft American rock music playing in the back ground. The six tables are spaced well, with a bar at the rear sporting a top shelf of rum, gin and whiskey. The menu is geared towards a selection Sliders which are about 3" in diameter, there are also other plates available. I have quite a big appetite so went for three sliders and a side of chips which is enough to leave me feeling full, two would have been fine but hey. I love the idea of the sliders, I was able to have three completely different burgers: Beef with cheese and pickle, butter chicken and duck. One of the things that I also enjoyed was a huge array of hot sauces available on the bar, a real treasure trove for hot sauce lovers. Now, back to that top shelf, as Al Green starts playing, the Dead Man's Fingers rum looks mighty fine!

Had a fantastic evening at Tilt for my birthday! The staff were so friendly and welcoming despite it being a big group of us, and they even put up birthday bunting, and lit the cake! Great food and atmosphere! The loaded fries and mini burgers were particularly good and everyone enjoyed the evening! Will definitely be returning, would highly recommend!

We liked so much the atmosphere. You have card games at the table to Play meanwhile you wait for your order. The price is ok for the food. Keep in mind the burgers are small size like catering kind of. The fries are super yum. They have a good selección for vegan and meat eaters. The taste is really good. We enjoyed.

Enjoyed a takeaway from here, was surprised at size of sliders as was bigger than expected! The deal they had on as well encouraged me to eat out of comfort zone and I was so glad I did as the dishes were so tasty, I had to have some the next day.

The male server (cole) was fantastic. He treated us amazingly and he exceeded expectations. His treatment of us allowed us to further enjoy the amazing food on offer and I couldn't be happier with the restaurant and him.

Great food the service was very efficient the place was nice and clean nice environment. The kitchen is right there so you can see the food being prepared. If the weather is nice then you can sit outside. The fries are good. The waiter was very lovely helped me with my order when I couldn’t decide what to eat. We’ve been as a family to zephyr burger a couple of times, my husband absolutely loves it and has eaten and had take away several times! We have visited on the off chance today as it was Saturday and open at lunch time! We were accommodated to sit outside, the staff are always friendly and welcoming! Got a completely different order

Not really much like a normal chippy. The chips didn't have that distinct chippy flavour. The chips, also, were like frozen mccains home fries and not thicker chippy chips (see photos). They look and taste like frozen mccains with an actual chopped potato chips thrown in randomly. They had no battered sausages available when I went. So unfortunately this did not fulfil that chippy craving I had, and still have, so I couldn't recommend. They guy working there was nice and friendly.

Bought dirty fries and cheesy chips. I can’t explain just how bad the quality is. Only good point is the guy serving, he was a friendly chap.

Rude staff and bad attitude didn't even bother ordering in the end. Reply…. everywhere else on the court was open, all your windows were open and you had food on. And yes once you pointed to the very small sign on your window that was open I noticed the closed sign. The fact the only words you spoke to me were ‘can you not read the sign’ that is what I found rude. You could of just said it’s going to be another 5-10 mins I’m running abit late… Maybe keep your windows and doors closed next time if you are closed or better still just open on time. You clearly don’t want to be there as you where shut less that 2 hours later. Your attitude stink and I’m definitely not the first person to experience this

Ordered 2 Texan burgers with onions and bacon ( bacon could have been cooked a bit longer was chewy rather than crispy) other than that burgers were perfect, also had 3 lots of large chips which were very hot and perfectly cooked, the cheese burger my daughter had she enjoyed and the 2 jumbo sausages were hot and cooked nicley too. We had 3 curry sauces which tasted great but unfortunately were only warm not hot. And 4 cans of fizzy and a bottle of water. In total it came to just under £35 which considering what we ordered was a great price and the food tasted great. Definitely go back there again next time we are at Tragos. Also the dude that served us was very friendly and polite.

Ordered large fish and chips.Took 15 minutes to receive I thought they had actually gone out on the boat to catch the fish while i was waiting. The small amount of fish I found inside the thick layer of batter tasted watery with no flavour I took 2 bites and could not eat it. Never again.

Why would I try and scam you out of 10 pounds? You charged me £18 for a burger and chips? I’m not the only one this has happened too, I’ve seen that there’s been quite a few negative reviews. This is a fault of your own and you should have checked the card reader before me paying on card. When I arrived to you earlier you said a burger and chips would cost £4.50, now you said that it was £8? It seems like you don’t know the prices yourself mate. The only scam artist is you and it seems the business isn’t going too great to be stealing money off of customers!

Small portions. Tasteless food. 45 min waiting for order as very first customer in Takeaway is much too much. Veg cut by axe or by blind cook. I will never come back. The opposite kebab shop is the same price but good quality ingredients. I was the first customer at this place and I regret it. The first two photos are full portions (£7,5). I really don't wanna hurt anyone but it's sad to be that deep disappointed. I hope you will find a way to make it better in future, but definitely without me as customer.

Honestly the best fish and chips Ive ever had! The Fish was absolutely amazing and the chips were so tasty and crispy. Considering it was 27° outside, It was even warmer in there And they were really busy the staff were nice enough so the service was great

Great food. Cod was fresh and nicely battered. Chips were amazing! (See photo). They do charge £2 for a 500ml bottle of water and won't provide free tap water, and the drinks are expensive. They are friendly enough but were very busy when we visited. It's a traditional fish and chip café that does takeaway and eat in. They do other food such as quarter pounders too. Our bill was over £40 and the kids just had a small bowl of chips and a soft drink, so budget accordingly. Over all, if you're looking for a traditional fish and chips and have the budget, I work recommend Scoffs.

The place to be for the famous battered chips, what i came to Paignton for. The fish was lovely aswel and the Turkey and stuffing roll with gravy was beautiful. Just a mix up with my order and I did notice a mix up with another ladies order aswel. I had a sorry but noticed the staff didnt say sorry to the other lady who was elderly and it was the staffs fault. Wasn't too busy as we went about 4, I would come here again!!

Fantastic! Delicious fresh fish and most delicious chips with salt and vinegar. We had take away and had it on the hoe in bright sunshine. Service was friendly a fast even though it was quite busy at the time. Regular portion was anmple. Excellent value for money.

Was told this was the best fish and chips in Plymouth and I can't disagree. I had a seafood platter and my sister had a huge piece of Haddock. All lovely and fresh and the chips were to die for.

The fish was cooked delicious and cooked well, but as someone who now consumes very little salt I had a slight salty after taste from the batter. The chips were disappointing in that very bland in taste, hence I give one star less. Mushy peas a tad too "liquidy."

Yummy 😋 Sat outside in the sunshine, next to the water. No bother from the seagulls, they were very polite. 😂 Two huge portions, couldn't actually eat it all, and a vegan meal had. We'd all go back.

Just got off a long train from London and met up with my mum in Plymouth — we decided on fish and chips at the last minute, and wow, Harbour Shop Fish and Chips did not disappoint! The service was quick and super friendly, even though we showed up on a whim. The cod was fresh and flaky, the batter perfectly crisp, and the chips were hot and hearty — exactly what we needed after the journey. It’s got that classic seaside charm and comfort, and sharing the meal with my mum made it even better. If you're arriving in Plymouth and looking for a local gem, this is the place. Highly recommended — I’ll be back!

I’ve never been big on fish & chips – too greasy, too heavy… just not for me. But this place? Game changer. Beautifully fresh fish with a light, crispy coating (not a drop of oil in sight!) and golden chips that were spot on. It was so good, we came back again on our last day – couldn’t resist! If you’re anywhere near North Devon, make sure to try it. I know I’ll be back next time I’m around!

Perfectly cooked fish and chips. Light, crisp batter and nicely cooked chips. We sat in the small restaurant area as we did not want to fight off the many seagulls around the harbour. The tables were clean and the service was good. Highly recommend this very nice fish and chips shop.

I’ve come here for the past two decades! Nothing can beat genuinely freshly caught cod or haddock! In my humble opinion, this establishment sells the best fish and chips in the whole country - never soggy, never over-salted, nice and flaky. Added bonus is it’s a family run business. Take away or eat in it’s own air conditioned restaurant at the back of the shop.

Stayed in mortehoe a week ago and visited Lynbay fish and chips as been recommended. Absolutely first class food have a large seating area as well. Plus they have a large selection of gluten free food as well even gluten free batter. Excellent service very helpful staff who are a credit to the owner. Will definitely be popping back in the new year. Set in Ilfracombe harbour great setting for a meal either sit in or takeaway.

1 cod & chips, 1 haddock & chips. Both fish lacked flavour although the haddock was better. Moreover, the batter was hard in places, but soggy in others. It was very greasy. The chips tasted ok but were anaemic looking. The last culinary insult was using coloured acetic acid instead of vinegar. Foul.

Used to be a must-stop… now it’s just a must-skip. We’ve been coming to Lynbay for years - nothing beats sitting on the harbour with fish and chips, watching the world go by. But after our visit recently, that tradition’s been well and truly battered. The portion of fish was no bigger than a seagull’s guilt, and for the price, you’d think it had been line-caught by Poseidon himself, hand-battered by Gordon Ramsay, and served on a golden plate. Sadly, it’s clear the prices have gone up with the tide — inflated for tourists and leaving locals like us feeling a bit fried. If you’re craving proper value and a portion you don’t need a magnifying glass for, head towards Braunton and get your money’s worth at a certain well-known chippy that still believes in portion sizes and seasoning. Lynbay, you were a part of our family tradition but it looks like it’s time to cast our net elsewhere.

Arrived to ilfracombe early evening after a day out in Lynton. Got a table straight away and order taken quickly. In no time at all large plates of high quality, pale but crispy (well cooked and low sugar content) chips and expertly battered ocean fresh cod were delivered to our table by the friendly staff. Great variety of sides and drinks. Not the cheapest, but well worth the money. Thanks so much! Can’t recommend enough!

We had one large and one regular cod and chips. Very nice, the fish was lightly battered. Only downside is the seating isn't very comfy.

The fish was delicious with crisp thin batter and lovely flaky meat. It was certainly up there with some of the best I've had. The same goes for the chips and peas, these were delicious too and couldn't fault them. I only gave 3 stars for the service as the young girl that served me was quite miserable and not very pleasant when being served. I know this is subjective and it doesn't take away from the fact the food was delicious.

Visited in August, hubby had the special (cod, chips & curry sauce) absolutely delicious freshly cooked fish with superb batter and very tasty chips. I had the mini fish, chips & peas which was also delicious. Would not go anywhere else in Brixham, infact we’re going again tomorrow!

Five dined on Sunday teatime. Excellent juicy fish and home cut chips, both delicious and tasty. Curry sauce was lovely too. Staff were extremely helpful but not over the top, took our order, brought out our food and drinks and checked everything was OK a few minutes later. Would definitely be back.

We had the fish, chip and mushy pea special which was great value and cooked really well - Crispy batter, really fresh fish and lovely chips. The service was efficient and friendly and our food came out quickly. The view from upstairs was lovely too.

Really great first floor restaurant with comfy booths & fab views out over the harbour. Had the ‘small’ fish, chips & peas (£8.99) which was as much as I could eat for lunch! Superb fresh cod in a gorgeous dry, crispy batter, served with high quality confinements & a wedge of fresh lemon. Brilliant & speedy service too, so overall, an truly excellent experience! We wanted to eat fish and chips on the beach on the last night of our holiday in Seaton and Frydays Traditional British Fish and Chips looked like the best place to buy our food; it’s a very short walk to the beach. There’s an eat in and takeout part and the takeout has areas for walk up and phone in. The food was prepared fresh, after our order, so there was a bit of a wait, but they provide space to wait. A fair number of people came in to order their food as we waited and several were clearly regulars. The cod and chips that I had were very good, hot and crisp. The chips were a very good colour too. Several other groups on the beach were eating fish and chips from this outlet.

Very good option in Seaton. Picked here as busiest and we were not disappointed. Scampi was tasty and chips whilst not perfect were still enjoyable. Particular note for the service - really friendly and very well organised. Right on the sea front so easy to order and get to the sea promptly to enjoy it.

A great fish and chip shop in the centre of Seaton. Reasonably priced. Choice of takeaway or sit down. Staff were friendly and service was very good. The chips are cooked very well and although I was only to eat fish fingers, they were delicious. The chip shop curry sauce was well done and added a bit of a kick to the eating experience. A lovely find in Seaton. I had the red snapper cooked in butter with side of chips. The fish was fresh and was tasty. It went well with the side of mushy peas. The red snapper was definitely a lighter feel than having the fish and chips. Friends who had the cod and haddock fish and chips enjoyed their meals too. The staff were so lovely and sweet.. I took the name of the girl that attended to us but at this moment I can’t recall it but she was so lovely. If you are in Seaton this place is a lovely place to chomp some yummy fish then take a stroll on pebble beach.

Absolutely one of the best fish and chips I’ve had in years! The chips were perfectly crispy, the cod was fresh and delicious, and everything was cooked to perfection. The staff were so friendly and the service was quick and efficient, which made the whole experience even better. If I had one suggestion, it would be to include a detailed allergy breakdown of menu items, as that would make things even easier for those with dietary requirements. That said, one staff member was incredibly knowledgeable about the ingredients, so we felt completely confident and well looked after.

I stand by that they have the best fried fish in the UK. The crispy batter is the best, and I grew up at the coast. The chips are cooked on too high a heat so inside they are a little hard even outside is golden.

We had cod and chips mushy peas and a cheeseburger and chips here yesterday, and we have been here many times over the past few years as well. I have to say this is the first time we were disappointed and it’s a shame, we asked for curry sauce which is on the menu and a favourite “sorry none available” so then asked for tartare sauce as it’s a fish and chip shop yards from the sea so you’d think both sauces would be available here “sorry none available”. Ok, so we asked for tomato sauce instead as it seemed to be the only option left. Took the bag to the car after a short walk, to find no sauce at all, so we ended up having dry chips, we asked for lots of salt and vinegar - could hardly taste it. The burger looked as though someone had thrown it against the wall, we left over half of it and threw it in the bin! Won’t be returning sorry

Thus part was the review I done over a year ago. So we decided to check out the local fish & chips. Must get your priorities right😆👊. We had Haddock & Chips, sat down. All excellent, clean, very hot and tasted great. A good start for our move, Cheers. Now we've used this chippy over the last year several times and each time it seemed to be loosing its charm. And today was enough is enough. We order a large chips and two saveloys and by the time we got home and unwrapped our food we said, that's not large chips. I known the whole country is strapped for cash and life is hard and the cost of this and that has gone up, but come on. Sorry to say this chippy has lost its way. We previously gave a four (4) but is a definite two (2) max.

Bought 2 x portion of chips at £4.25 each, my missus had have the portion I had and quite frankly the worst chips I've had in along time,was like eating cardboard, if I had of been closer to them I would of taken them back. Got to be the dearest chips in Plymouth too..

My husband and myself had cheeseburger and chips each, the chips were lukewarm and hard as if they had been refried and I had to throw the cheeseburger away as the burger was hard but most off-putting was the green mould on the roll. This used to be a local for us but won't be using again. Very disappointed a complete waste of money.

This is the absolute greatest fish and chips I have ever had. The mushy peas were also amazing. Great big portions and not too expensive either. Even the small fish and chips was gigantic! (They also sell alcohol on site 😉). I will deffo come back her the next time we are westward ho!

What an absolute delight this place was. Great to have some really fresh and incredibly tasty fish here. The batter is incredibly light and fluffy and didn't find an item I didn't like! Only downside is that it is a little pricey to some but for the quality of the chips but more so for the fish, definitely worth it. We are back again!!!! Prices still the same and to be honest. It was a delight. The deals you can get are fantastic! £12.50 for a large haddock and chips or £13.50 for a large cod, chips and mushy peas and trust me, its massive! The quality of the fish is sublime and the chips are mwah!!!! Super recommend and moved to 5 stars! Remember it closes at 9pm!

On day one of seven in Westward Ho I had cod & chips from your shop. Without doubt the best I have EVER had in my 58 years on this planet!! So much so that I had the same meal on another 3 occasions. The crispness of the batter and succulent chunky cod was unbelievable and the chips were absolutely out of this world. Really friendly and efficient staff even under the pressure of queues at times. My mouth is watering just writing about this. A big thanks to all that work at Atlantic Fish Bar for a brilliant service.

Absolutely delicious fish and chips! Freshly cooked, generous portions, and the batter was light, crispy, and full of flavour. The chips were proper chip shop style — golden, fluffy inside, and not greasy at all. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was quick even though they were busy. You can really tell they take pride in what they do. Lovely spot near the seafront too — perfect for enjoying your food with a view. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Westward Ho!

Food was reasonable but not wow. Lots of chip shrapnel (inedible tiny bits) in the portion, and the fish (large haddock) was OK but not impressive. The place is often queued out of the door on the weekends, but as far as I can tell this is because they have all the organisational skill of a bunch of disinterested teenagers, rather than an exceptional food offering. Have to say I was a bit disappointed.

Food: Good food. Chips could've been better doused with salt and vinegar. Good portion sizes, wrapped in your classic paper and packaging. Not overly impressed with the The Dolphin, purely because there was quite a long wait. I don't know if this is consistent or just a one off. I was waiting along with 2-3 other groups for our orders. It took around 15 minutes to be ready. However the exterior looks great with the dark blue colours, and chrome ornament. If eating outside beware of the seagulls and keep food shielded. We were seated quickly with friendly attentive staff. The food was too notch. I would highly recommend the seafood platter. And where else can you get a pint of peroni in a fish and chip shop. Will 100% be returning and highly recommend.

Popped into The Dolphins for a fish and chips lunch and left very happy. Portions are generous: long fillets that spill over the plate and a hearty pile of proper chippy chips. The battered fish was golden and crisp with a steamy, flaky interior; the batter wasn’t greasy and stayed crunchy to the last bite. The grilled fish option was a pleasant surprise too—nicely seasoned, moist, and served with a fresh side salad and lemon, great if you want something lighter

Lovely chippy overlooking the harbour, I remember this place from when I was a kid my grandad always used to like this one and you can buy fresh seafood from a takeaway counter at the front, but sit down dining is great too with friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Try and get the table neat the wimdow if it's available. Very good food.

Straight in and seated by a lovely waitress. Got our drinks straight away and waited for about 10 - 15 minutes for freshly cooked cod and chips. I had garden peas my husband had mushy peas. The fish just flaked away and melted in your mouth. The chips were perfectly cooked and the mushy peas and garden peas where a normal green! (Not dayglow green like some chippies!) lovely vibe and clean, dog friendly too! Would dine here again without a doubt. Thank you for the lovely experience and food.

Lovely chippy on the harbour at Ilfracombe. We liked it so much we went twice during our stay. I'm vegan and my partner is not but there was plenty of choice for us both. I had the sweet potato curry on one occasion and the vegan fish alternative on the other, both were lovely. My partner had the grilled salmon which she loved so much she had it twice! Staff on both occasions were great, really chatty and funny - especially the manager who was hilarious. Restaurant was clean and tidy, and both visits the place was busy. Food came quickly and was delicious. If I lived in Ilfracombe I would be here regularly, 5* all round.

The food is great here and I have had several visits now. I have several family members who are gluten intolerant. They have a Gluten Free menu which is great as many fish n chip shops are so hard to find that serve this. For those who are GF they also do GF sauces like curry and gravy.

Just got 1 large cod, 1 medium cod , 1 normal chips ,curry sauce and mushy peas for £25.40. It tasted ok but to be honest they should have called them Happy meals they were so small. Exactly what we didn't want from fish and chips by the sea. To be honest the fish way so slim inside the batter I think they must have filleted the fillets, not impressed. If you want a good bit of fish and chips the harbour fish bar around the corner is twice the size and a lot nicer we ate there last night a bit dearer but well worth the extra cost. I only give honest reviews .

Popped in while passing to grab a coffee and decided to have a couple of portions of chips & gravy (£5.50 each).....total of £16.50 for 2 white cups of coffee, 2 bowls of chips and 2 pots of gravy. Expect to pay slightly inflated prices due to location. Chips were ok, gravy was nice, and thick (which improved the 3 star to a 4).

Fantastic fish & chips! The haddock was super fresh and perfectly fried - definitely recommend trying it. The restaurant itself has a fun, quirky vibe too. The signs for the gents' and ladies' toilets were really amusing and gave me a good laugh.🤣

Went for a ride and ended up on the hoe at Cap'n Jaspers. Not been for a few years due to moving away, so thought a visit was a must. My wife is gluten free and so asked if there was anything she could have as gluten free, 'Sorry No'. Is it possible to have a sandwich without the bread, as in bacon, lettuce onions etc.... Sorry No, we don't have cutlery either'. Hmmm, so while I had ordered a sausage sandwich, my wife went without anything to eat and no suggestion or help from the server, what a shame. So if you are someone who has to have gluten free (dare not mention celiac) then this is not the place for you. Also, if you use cutlery in any shape or form, then again, either take your own or go somewhere else. I noticed the place did not seem as clean as previously experienced either. The sandwich, was ok and the coffee/tea was adequate.

Great location but I feel a slightly missed opportunity. You know when something is “legendary” just because? Well this is one of those places. It’s reasonably cheap & cheerful food but the actual beef patty’s themselves would benefit from being better quality. They’re like the ones you get of questionable ingredients from a lay-by burger-van. Now I know this place is well loved by locals but with the burger market exploding in recent years I really do think they could do better. The service was good enough, slightly long wait but acceptable even though not many customers waiting, I could see the cook was busy so fair enough.

Have visited since I was a child,the food is great and prices are very low,only qualm is I wish they still did the relishes for the burgers,nothing on the menu will disappoint ,the half yard of hot dog is famous around plymouth as is the jasperizer...lovely cheap place to eat after a night out !!

This place has existed for many many years and is a landmark of Plymouth with lots of bikers congregating here. The food is simple and delicious. We had the rolls for breakfast and they were quite tasty. I would recommend the mackerel roll with onions...yum yum yum. Has a nice seating area overlooking the water.

The best Fish and Chip Shop in Teignmouth. A good system of ordering and waiting your turn, regardless of how big or small your order is. Freshly cooked food, chips are perfect-not greasy and not too many. Plenty of staff on duty to ensure a smooth operation, even the drinks fridges being kept stocked up. Well done to all. Average wait time 15mins on a busy day - but well worth it. Friendly staff.

Thursday 03/07/25 19.30hrs. Called for fish and chips whilst walking along the promenade. Premises busy but orderly system in operation. Orders taken and paid for in advance with numbered receipt issued. Maybe a five minute wait. Everything freshly cooked to order. We had regular fish and chips ×2 - total bill £22.20 (fish £7.45, chips £3.15) served in cardboard box. Salt and Vinegar applied behind counter by staff. Food was very good. A satisfying, well cooked, tasty supper at a reasonable price served by friendly staff keeping cool under pressure. We recommend this establishment.

Lovely local chippy, probably the best this side of town. Great burgers made fresh and tasty curry too, constituting a great alternative for vegetarians and vegans. The menu clearly lists all allergens, making it easy to choose. All food is freshly prepared from high quality ingredients, served by friendly staff. Great atmosphere in the massive sit-in restaurant, enhancing the experience of a traditional meal in a traditional setting. I enjoyed dining here several times and I will certainly come back for more!!

After flying back from our holiday, we decided to grab fish and chips for dinner as we couldn’t be bothered to shop and cook. We ordered via the click and collect option: 3x fish and chips, requesting the fish to be separate and plenty of salt and vinegar, as we were craving a proper chippy tea. When we collected and opened it in the car, to our surprise, there wasn’t a splash of salt or vinegar, despite them following the note about separating the fish, so they clearly read the notes. We rewrapped, purchased some vinegar ourselves, and drove home to eat. I decided to call the restaurant to let them know, and a young man answered. While explaining, I could clearly hear him laughing about my complaint before passing me on to someone else. I explained again, only to be passed on yet again because she apparently couldn’t deal with it. Eventually, I was told there was nothing they could do unless I brought the food back (are they for real?!), and was told I should “just eat it the way it came.” I was also told they are only allowed to put a tiny amount of vinegar on, as per the owner’s instructions. Now, I know £26 isn’t a fortune, but fish and chips should smell of vinegar, even with a normal amount, and if you can’t get that right, what’s the point? It’s not complicated. In my opinion, click and collect clearly doesn’t work at this shop unless you want your order messed up and to be treated like your concerns are a joke. Very, very poor customer service. Will not be returning.

We always visit this wonderful fish restaurant when on holiday in Devon. In my opinion it can’t be bettered anywhere in the country. Everything about the cod and chips is perfection. Lovely tasty white cod fillet which flakes showing it is very fresh, the lightest, crispest batter and great thick cut chips. It is all cooked with the minimum of grease left on the finished meal. To finish, the banana fritter is to die for! The portions are generous and the food is not over priced. Service is quick friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back!

Not bad fish and chips; I’ve been destroyed for quality fries (chips) in Belgium and Australia, so found the fries (chips) here a little moist. Fish was nicely cooked however. Cajon Salmon was nice-portion was a little less then I would have liked. Very friendly staff. Joint Obviously loved by the locals.

I recently visited German Doner Kebab, and it was absolutely fantastic! The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The meat was tender and juicy, paired beautifully with crisp vegetables and their signature sauces. The Original Doner Kebab is a must-try — every bite was delicious and satisfying. The restaurant was spotless, and the modern décor created a great atmosphere for dining in. The staff (ibrahim ali)were friendly, welcoming, and quick to serve, making the whole experience even better. I also loved how everything tasted authentic yet unique compared to typical kebab places. Excellent quality, great portions, and fair prices. I’ll definitely be coming back soon — highly recommend German Doner Kebab to anyone craving a premium kebab experience! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

GDK hits different! I wasn’t expecting fast food to taste this good. Everything tasted fresh and the bread was crispy in all the right ways. I got the Boss Box and it was a solid meal—loved the variety. Staff were super chill and got the order right first time. Tried the rice bowl from German Doner Kebab the other day — pretty good! The rice was soft and had a nice flavor, not plain or dry. I got the mix of chicken and beef, and both were tasty — seasoned well and cooked right. Would definitely get it again!

I asked for spring water with the order. Partly because I try to stay away from your line up of various Coca-Cola products. I try to stay away from that brand due to their support for the genocide. But you sent me Smart Water by Coca-Cola. That is not spring water. It's distilled/evaporated water manufactured by Coca Cola. I think I'll steer clear from your company until we see some definite improvement in your Coca-Cola allegiance. Regards... The Smart Water has also left a nasty taste in the mouth (I try not to waste food or water, hence tried to drink it) and I'm having to pour it down the sink!

Got doner wrap today. The place was clean, employee was a friendly guy, food and prices were OK. Easy to order, fast service. Food: I guess I was expecting more juicy meat with doner. Nice thin wrap. Chips are good but relatively less than other chain restaurants. I assumed it’s halal but forgot to check the sign

German Doner Kebab in Exeter is a solid choice for a quick, flavorful meal! The doners are packed with fresh ingredients, and the sauces add a great kick. Staff are friendly, and the place has a nice, casual vibe. The only drawback is the limited parking, which can be tricky during peak hours. Still, a great spot for kebab lovers!

Excellent Chip Shop, I came in (with a group of 5) to eat in with about 40 minutes till closing. We ordered, the food arrived quickly, and the cod and chips were amazing, they didn't rush us to leave at all, no hovering, and we left with a couple minutes from closing, not feeling pushed out in any way. The large cod and chips is a good size for an average man. The mushy peas and curry sauce are very good alongside the meal. And they gave a wide variety of other sauces aswell. Top food, top service, top pricing, top chippy. Would recommend to anyone.

Great service on an on line order for 20 people - accurate, on time, well packaged so still hot when we got home, good portion size and food really tasty! One small issue, that the shop menu doesn’t exactly match the online order form, some items not available. Highly recommend this fish and chip shop!

Food is cooked to order, so nothing is sitting around for hours and just kept warm. With that, you will have to wait. However, if you don't want to wait, I would recommend doing a click and collect order. Turn up at your booked time and it'll be ready for you to collect from the counter. All the staff I've been served by are professional and friendly. Parking near by can be difficult during peak time and tourist season. Never had a bad meal from Krispies. Their battered chips are superb!

The wait is WORTH IT!!!!! The food is cooked fresh and to perfection. Every order is cooked on the spot and not sitting around keeping warm. Their fish is flaky and full with flavour and their chips are crisp and warm, the only thing I would say is that they need more salt and vinegar but other than that they are delicious. The setting is bright with lots of seats for waiting. Please try this fish and chip shop soon!

After a half hour wait for my order despite only two other customers in the queue ahead, we were disappointed. The priority of the server was with orders for delivery, had I been told of the long wait I would of taken my customer elsewhere. Nothing beats their battered chips! The best chippy in Exmouth, I always have the same order and am never disappointed. Food is always served hot, swift service (click and collect on busy weekends is a bonus!) and super tasty. There’s a reason they win awards!

The problem with krispies is that on a good day it’s easily the best fish and chips I’ve ever had but on a bad day the fish tastes stale and batter is soggy (tried to capture in pic 2). I wish quality were more consistent! Would go back but probably won’t rush to.

We had fish and chips with a curry sauce delivered. Steaming hot and it was fantastic. Large fish and large chips more than enough for 2. First fish and chips since we have been down here and we have been living here for 4 months, food was fabulous portions were amazing and everything tasted fresh and not greasey. Ordered 2 x cod with 1 large chips and 1 small chips also a cheeseburger for my 6 year old. The fish was lovely along with the batter. Chips were equally as good and the large portion of chips that was served was definitely a large portion which is great! We've been to the dolphin down the road which was mediocre and this place is fantastic compared so we will definitely use maddys from now on. A brilliant fish n chip shop.

Old school chippy with some great food! I got the haddock fish and chips and it was so nice! Crispy batter and juicy fish. The chips super nice too. Fishcake very nice too. All the ladies working here are lovely and friendly. I dont understand people complaining about the price (my F&C was 13.50) when now all chippy sell it for not less of 16£, so for me the price is very fair too. Nothing to complain at all. Thank ladies ❤️

10/10!! We had a pie and fish & chips. The fish batter was perfect and cooked to perfection, light and golden brown, not too thick, with a slice of lemon. Great service, lovely people who work there. We ate in although we tend to get a takeaway and we’ll do it again. Keep up the great work!

Not a very fish and chips person but since we were by the coast we thought we'd have some nice fresh fish. Looked in Google for somewhere nice to eat and found Maddy's. Went there and didn't convince me from the outside but decided to give it a go. What a good choice!!! Best fish and chips I've ever tried, 0 oily, chips were perfect, fish was so crunchy, a lot of food so if you're hungry this is your place. The place looks a bit old but it's lovely and the waitress was so friendly. Would recommend 100%!!

Cod and chips was ordered. It was definitely not cod. It was thin (not chunky and meaty) cooked to a crisp. The chips had an oily taste. So I portion of Cod? and chips, curry sauce and 2 very dry bread rolls was ordered £20.20 I am sorry to say the only positive I could fine was the portion size was fairly generous but unfortunately we couldn’t eat it all as it just wasn’t nice. (I hate wasting food). These days with the cost fish and chips it is a treat but I would have rather had beans on toast at home. Just one portion of cod and chips is £16.50 so therefore it should have been top notch.

Local chippy. You’re not sure if you’re gonna have food poisoning the day after and that’s exactly what you’re looking for. Cash only, around 15 minutes wait, greasy atmosphere, good fish, good chips, crispy, sticky… perfect.

Quite possibly the best fish and chips we've had in years, from anywhere! Brilliant! Everything was perfectly cooked and flavoured and not greasy. From our family member who lives in Seaton, it seems to be in summer when the shop struggles, and possibly where the bad reviews are from. We visited in early April just before the local Easter holidays, and it was quick service but all freshly cooked - even though we were ordering lots of food for 6 people! Not taking card is the only bad thing. At almost £9 for a cod it is dearer than back home in Surrey by a few pound.

Chips were greasy and not very nice tasting. The fish was ok, nothing special but was unfortunately already a bit soggy by the time we'd reached the beach to eat them. Cash only, nearly made us not bother as we had to scrape it together between us and in this day and age we rarely carry that much cash. Will try others in the area from now on.

Very expensive for a small fish scruffy staff not clean looking and very miserable. One female staff was coughing into her hygiene protection gloves not great. On the whole I won't be going back if you want decent fish and chips go to branscombe beach cafe.

Staff were rude, felt watched all the time. Expensive for frozen brought items (fishcake etc) £11 for cod and the batter isn't even homemade there are tubs of it in prep area as which can be seen when you go to the toilets, cash only in 2025. Lady serving used gloved hands to take cash then used hand gel on gloves - this is a no-no as doesn't work to then serve food. Won't be using again

Chips are good. Don’t debate that. But it’s 2025 and they are cash only. Not a good look. Also they charge you extra to sit in their empty seating area. For some reason you can wait there for your food, but heaven forbid you sit there after paying for your food.

We have been visiting this place for the past 20 years and this used to serve the best fish and chips in the Bay. However, we got nearly £40 worth of food and when my daughter opened hers, the portion wasn’t even child size (we paid for full meals and the photos are after the ‘extra scoop’). So, I went back and spoke to the young(ish) man probably in his 20s and he looked in the box and looked at me and asked “what’s wrong with this?” When I explained that the portion is tiny compared to their normal portions in the past, he got irritated and said “so, what do you want? “I mean, if you want, I can put another scoop”. He then showed it to the colleague (female in her 20s) and said to her “apparently it’s too small with a smirk.” No apology other than a dirty look at us came from him. His colleague was more polite and said “sorry” and smiled (maybe he can get some training from her about customer service!). Anyway, after tasting the chips, we found that the normally crispy chips are soggy and more like half baked mash (shouldn’t have bothered to drive back for the extras to be honest) but the Fish was ok. Being loyal customers for 20 years ended just like that for us. Don’t know if the management has changed or new staff, but sadly this is definitely not the best in the Bay anymore for neither quality of service nor food). You can compare the colour of the chips with past pics to get an idea of the quality.

This isn’t the closest chippy for us, but it is the one that consistently provides high quality fish, with very tasty chips. That is more than can be said for some of the local competition. As an industry times are hard with price increases from suppliers and customers expectations for consistent 5 star food at a reasonable price. No background music. But been going there 30 years only for takeaway and is the best takeaway fish and chips in Torbay bar none!! Good fish and chip shop and we often come here when in Paignton. Food is usually of good quality and there can be a bit of a wait when busy. The chips and cheesy chips were great and my son enjoyed his burger. My only gripe (and I know I’m being picky) is that I got 2 small battered sausages when i ordered a jumbo battered sausage, I really enjoy jumbo version and conciously avoid small ones as I find they are often overcooked. We came in after 9pm which is close to closing time and the small sausages definitely felt like end of day remnants. I would have appreciated being informed of this swap as I would have chosen something else.

Don’t usually leave reviews but didn't want someone to go through the same disappointment we did. We have been here a couple times before this and was lovely however i drove 30 mins for such a disappointing meal, it was awful. Maybe under new management because this was not the same food we have had here before!!! Soggy chips the burger was burnt and my daughter couldn't even eat it, it was so dry i wouldn't even feed it to a dog let alone a person, kebab meat was awfully dry and if edible the portion was shocking for the price. This is not the best rated chip shop around here anymore that is a fact, don't waste your money on poor quality, rubbish food!

We had to wait 1 1/2 hours for our food. I've literally never known a fish and chips shop to take so long to serve a fast food. It was all cooked and ready just sitting there whilst the staff faffed around slowly. Packaging food adding stickers etc. They didnt look like they enjoyed the job they were doing, barely any interaction with customers, no apologies for the ridiculous delay. To top it off the lettuce in my daughters burger was off and soggy (see photo). I had to replace with fresh lettuce from home. We were also missing a fruit shoot drink which I'd paid for. Hard to understand how this could happen as i saw them checking things over with about 2 staff!! Furthermore my wives large cod was a small cod as it was a lot smaller than mine but the same size of my sons which was a small/regular, also see photos. My fish tasted dry prob as it just sat out so long! Chips were chips. I couldn't recommend this place to other's and people were even walking away because of the wait as we warned them as they entered. Then they actually turned people away around 7.30pm. There are no excuses, there were 4 to 6 staff in there. There didn't seem to be a huge in flux of customers, similar to other fish and chip shops. I think management should really consider changing the way they do things, it's unacceptable. On reading this review I would appreciate a refund for the drink that you never provided and the difference between a large and regular cod.

Waited over 30 minutes in the pouring rain whilst the staff were too busy chatting taking their time with a whole crowd of people outside to pay £5 for a bunch of half cooked chips, lumpy gravy and a large cod (£15) which was so dry it was like it had been sat there all day. This was by far the worst chippy I have ever visited in Devon, not one to usually leave reviews but if like us visiting this area for the first time and looking for somewhere nice to try avoid this place!

Great fish and chips! The large is super big and great protein size. Reasonably priced. Only had to wait a few minutes.

I recently bought scampi, chips, curry sauce and a bread cake (bread roll, teacake, whatever way you say bread!). The scampi and curry sauce was super tasty, the chips were a bit squishy and wet for my liking. But the bread cake had mould on it and was hard. It must of been sat there ages. I was so gutted as I was excited to make a chippy sarnie. I would have gone back and complained but I’d walked round to Mortehoe area to eat them so by the time I would have gone back my order would have been cold.

Good. Not the best chips I've ever had. But it was good and fair priced. £5.50 for a chips and cheese. Was quite fast waited around 5/10min. Have to use a touch screen for ordering with card. No seats takeaway only.

After coming here for 25 years I can honestly say it's got worse popped in for some chips tried using those stupid machines on the walls Evan though no one was in there kept buffering had to say excuse me 4 times to 1 of the girls when she looked she said yes ill get someone to serve you chips were drier than dry looks like it's run by a load of kids

Gluten free heaven! They have a separate gluten free fryer and the food portions were generous. They even had gluten free vinegar. Definitely would recommend!

Nice fish'n'chip place with all the usual sides. The large cod is a real sea monster! Reasonable price vs. quality, clean sitdown area and has wc upstairs. Would visit again.

As someone on a gluten-free diet, finding delicious fish and chips that truly hit the spot has always been a challenge – until now! The batter was perfectly crispy, golden and flaky, covering succulent fish that tasted amazing. The fish and chips with gluten free curry sauce were amazing. There is a gluten free menu which I will be going back to try more items

I bowl at Paignton lawn bowls club. Last night we had 48 portions of fish and chips delivered for 8pm. It was bang on time, hot and delicious. Fantastic price of cod, lovely chips. Don't know how they did it but thank you.

Nice restaurant & takeaway serving a wide range of fresh fish & chips dishes as well as pies, battered sausages, fishcakes plus an all day breakfast & hot & cold beverages, I have visited several times & on my first visit I had the breakfast which I found to be very greasy, the beans vinegary & not very warm, but today I had haddock & chips which was cooked perfectly. If eating in the restaurant, find a table & take note of the number, look at the menu, then go to the counter to order what you would like, pay & then your food is brought over to you once it is ready, the lady who serves could be friendlier, but the chefs are very nice.

Could do so much better in such a great location. Ordered the 'special' small cod and chips (microscopic would be a more accurate description) and it was completely tasteless. They said it'd be 5-10 minutes, it took 20.

Called in here for fish and chips - eat in or takeaway - eat in well this is bought to the table and is in boxes - plenty of eating in space - it is in a prime location but this does not reflect the atmosphere that is there and whilst it was Ok it could do with improvement - perhaps eat in is on plates!! I had a long walk so it was great to be able to sit down - food was hot - would rather in but I felt that I might as well have eaten outside but did not wish to risk a gull getting the food

Two small cod, chips & one curry sauce, £18. This has to the worst meal I had in a fish shop ever. Fish tasted frozen and tasteless, chips tasted like they were cooked in old oil. Dissatisfied customers pretty much throw it in the bin. Never again.

On busy times be prepared to wait, not too long. Once seated you browse through the menu and within no time your order is taken. Everything is prepared to order so don't tuck too quick, even the gulls on the takeaway would think twice. Staff are warm and friendly and the service too. If you are a fish lover, I would recommend the Fisherman's meal deal, a choice of Cod or Haddock, chips, mushy peas and a pot of tea. All other meals are served with chips. Can't wait for next time.

After walking past a few places in the harbour we came here after seeing cook from fresh we went in and tried it well best thing we did, my wife had cod and chips with curry sauce, my son had battered sausage and chips with gravy and i had cod roe and chips with curry sauce, with 3 cans of pop £33 very good value as where we our from it would cost more easy from the midlands so many thanks

Would give less than 1 Star if possible. Zero atmosphere, broken window, untidy staff and food was served up still frozen in the middle of the fish. Absolutely vile, do not waste your money or time at this venue. When we gave feedback, it was dismissed and not taken on board. I cannot absolutely say the the food we ate here contributed to the D and V I suffered from for the remainder of the weekend, but I also cannot rule it out.

Nicks was the only Fish and Chips open earlier this month, yes it was all cooked to order, but very greasy, and the oil either wasn't hot enough or was old, so even the chips had a greasy unpleasant smell and taste. Perhaps it was too late in the evening and they were closing up, but I'd rather they just say sorry we're closed than serve us something we tried to eat but binned it in the end.

Very good fish and chips. I had the haddock which for me is superior to cod and tasted good,chips were nice and chunky with good taste. A regular fish and chip shop and all seemed clean and tidy.

Truly excellent food and service. Staff are always ready to help with any query. 2 separate menus, one for eat-in and one for takeaway. Dogs are welcome too which is a bonus!

We always come here when on holiday as we loved the freshly cooked fish and chips but we came in May 2023 and the cod was grey and the batter was hard. Called in today 13/09/2023 and ordered two small cod and chips plus roe and chips. The bearded gentleman in charge was miserable and unfriendly. The food arrived but the roe was not battered and the small cod batter was so hard it broke up and was almost black in colour. The majority of the chips were hard and not edible. Then to make matters worse the bearded gentleman then started washing out the floor in the back room -where the potatoes are cut into chips- with what smelt like a disgustingly smelling mop which filled the shop with a terrible dead fish aroma. £36 for three awful meals. Never again.

Visited yesterday whilst on a day trip to Exmouth from the Haven site at Sandy Bay. The lady who greeted us and took our order was so friendly and very accommodating. We sat in the front at the only indoor table with the two kids who were loud and on one but we never felt judged, in fact the lady serving us was really lovely and had no problem with the kids despite it being a busy lunchtime rush. The food was absolutely fantastic, the best curry sauce we've ever had from a chippy! Absolute 5 star establishment ⭐

I'm so confused by the 5 star reviews because this is the worst fish and chips I've EVER had. No salt or vinegar, chips disgustingly greasy and from the most poor quality inedible potatoes! I even checked the best fish and chip shops before coming to Exmouth, wish I'd gone to Krispies now. Absolute rip off!

Got upset stomach would definitely avoid this place. Shouldn’t have to deal with stomach pain from a meant to be proper fish and chip shop. Fish is dry and slimy. Batter is bland and soggy. Fish fell apart. Chips were ok. The curry sauce is nice but more on the powdery side. The tarta sauce is nice. Would suggest renaming the place as this is not proper fish and chips or to get some training to become a fish and chip shop. The staff are very friendly and nice. Just need to improve the food a lot more

We made a special trip here on our holiday as mum is gluten free and we are always on the hunt for proper GF fish and chips for her when we're near the sea. Wow! What an amazing place. The food was brilliant, so well cooked, not greasy, great chips. Everyone loved their food and it was really good value for money. I also have to say that the service was perfection, so welcoming and friendly. We had the best experience. Highly recommend.

Great fish and chips, but the additional bits were what made it 5 star. The fish was good for the most part (flavoursome and tender) but with a large fish by the time you got to the end the underneath batter was all soggy and oily. However the chips were good, and the mixed seafood platter was spectacular! I'd go back just for that platter. The salt and pepper squid was terrific.

Just been in and the staff were super friendly, knew about allergens immediately and were cooked fresh to order. I'm going again Friday before we leave for home. Also reasonably priced for a seaside town. In Brixham it's up to £18 for a fish and chips so they're pretty decent priced.

Been on a really long shift then my bus from exeter was late. I was starving. Saw Proper Fish and Chip Co was open so went in to buy a regular cod. So looking forward to it. But is was awful. Slimy and weird tasting. Didn't have the energy to walk back and ask for a replacement so I gave it to the dog. She liked it at least.

Down here in Devon on holiday. Ordered fish & chips from Jackson's as they had a good score. Ordered on line with their app, order was ready bang on the time we selected. Very tasty & perfectly cooked. Can definitely recommend.

How can you not enjoy fresh fish. Jackson’s “Daily special” was as fresh and tasty as you could get. How can you better fish and chips prepared by a fresh fish monger. Fully trained staff with fish that fresh and homemade mushy peas and tartar sauce to accompany your fish and fresh fried chips. It was touching on paradise ❤️

Certainly the best fish and chips in Newton-Abbot! Incredibly great fish, chips and everything aquatic in between! Great place where the meals are always piping hot and extremely fresh. The portions are generous as well, lending to a great return for your pounds. Highly recommended for a casual meal or a Friday night in door experience.

Very expensive and unfortunately I felt the quality was pretty poor. for a takeaway so highly rated I was left extremely disappointed after spending £40 with very little food to show for it.

Lady who took my order was very friendly. I ordered cod and chips . The frier was drinking and didn’t wash his hands before handling my food. Young man who gave me my food super friendly. Ignore ridiculous reviews on here saying that the fish and chips are anything less than 10/10. Absolutely excellent fish and chips, have always visited whilst in the area, taken away to sit by the glorious estuary, and never had any cause for complaint, other than the enormous queues (but well worth waiting for), and the prices, which are significantly higher than here 'up north'. My problem is I've just been diagnosed as Coeliac, and cannot visit any more, as even the chips are fried in the same pan as the battered fish.... Absolutely gutted.!!! Thank you for the years of pleasure.

This chip shop is probably the best I have tasted. Be prepared to queue though as it can get very busy and it’s not a big shop. I found it quite pricey but then I don’t mind when the food tastes this nice

My father (in his 85th year) always tells me: “If you’re in a new town, find the chippy with the longest queue.” This was it – and rightly so! We only waited about 10 minutes, and it was absolutely worth it. Our second visit to the area, and our second time here – both times the fish and chips have been exceptional. Properly wrapped in paper (none of those awful cardboard boxes!) and served piping hot. Staff were working their socks off, balancing takeaway orders with the sit-down restaurant, yet still friendly and efficient. Prices are more than reasonable, especially in an area with plenty of competition – clearly this little shop is doing something very right. Fish and chips can be hit or miss, but my top tip is to go on a Saturday night just after they’ve opened – that’s when fish and chips are at their very best. And as you can see from my photo, nothing better than eating fish and chips in the car overlooking Kingsbridge Quay – what could be better?

Well reading the reviews I was certainly looking forward to my lunch Everything is cooked to order but I was not happy to see that the uncooked Cod was sitting in a dish on the counter top in the heat of the day - anyone knows this should be stored in a fridge and brought out only when it goes in the fryer This goes against any common sense food standards - but seems like normal practice here. I suspect the chef will say that it’s only out of the fridge for a few moments but that’s not what I witnessed and why take the risk DISAPPOINTED and won’t be going again - what a waste of £13

26 June 23 , I have just eaten in the restaurant and to say it was disappointing is an understatement. The coffee is instant Nescafé, weak and bland. The best thing on my plate was the tartare sauce, and that was Heinz, the mushy peas watered down. I had plaice that, if it didn't look a bit like plaice, I wouldn't be sure it was, and the chips were just about edible. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone. My wife had the cod, and it was no better. AW

Large cod and chips done just at should be, crispy batter, chips very nice too. Portion sizes are good and staff friendly. You won't be disappointed if you visit.

Disappointing. Waited 7 mins as cook to order which was fine. Chips were soggy, small & stuck together, small, similar to what you’d get in a kebab shop at 3am. Fish was average pretty tasteless. Swung by on a Sunday evening 645pm, was so looking forward to a good feed. No pride in what they are offering.

What can I say, 2nd time in Devon and wanted something that was recommended in the top 10 eateries. All I would say is, this place is number 1 in all of Devon for pizza!!!! Wow all round. Price point was perfect and reasonable. Size of the pizza is perfect and ideal for one. Alex was a perfect host and she made our day and Louis 'The pizza wizard' did not lie when he said 7 1/2 minutes for our pizza and they were heaving at the time. They smashed it in every way. We had a Margherita, ham and pineapple for the wife and I had a salame napoli and hot honey with chilli flakes and nduji sausage. We also grabbed the hot chilli dip and also the garlic/parmesan dip which was sublime. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I will be grabbing one every single time I am here!

Beautiful food 👌 Simple concept perfectly executed of really great food, laid back, comfortable dining, dog friendly making it a perfect stop for anyone pecking strolling off the beach. The pizzas were incredible. The only thing that could have made it better for us was maybe some extra choices on the sides like fries or wedges, maybe some chicken, possibly a couple of kids options to help keep cost down a little.. but having said I understand you're probably just keeping it simple and killin' it with the pizzas👌

The Pig and Olive in Westward Ho! serves some of the best pizza I’ve ever eaten – quite possibly the best. We loved it so much we went twice in one week, and even took some home for later. The team were so accommodating, kindly part-baking the pizzas so we could finish them off fresh at home – such a thoughtful touch. The flavours are spot on, the bases are perfectly cooked, and every bite just makes you want more. Friendly service, great atmosphere, and truly delicious food. If you love pizza, this place is an absolute must-visit. I’m already looking forward to going back!

Really thin and burnt pizza. Every time I picked up my pizza the toppings slipped off. Not enough sauce or toppings but to much sauce in comparison to the cheese and toppings. I only spent a little time waiting for the pizza so quick service considering it was made on the spot. Very pretty inside with a cozy dinning experience however Very small and crowded so not much space for anybody with accessibility aids. No parking, the only place near is a paid parking lot.

Poor. Price point OK. Online order was advised 35 mins. Arrived after 25 and already made and waiting - not hot. The pork and salami pizza with significantly under-topped. Pizza itself ok, but felt ripped off. Almost zero pork on the pig and olive pizza - wouldn’t waste my money again

Service and atmosphere was great! Very good and attentive staff. However, food was mid for us. Everything was very salty but this may be me and my partner's taste as we do find things salty in general. May pop back and try something different from the menu next time we visit!

I've been eating here regularly. It used to be amazing but not so great anymore. The portions are considerably smaller now, and they increased the prices again as well. For example, the 'special' fries are now half the portion compared to last year for a similar price.

Amazing food, 100% recommend Eat the bird. Burgers were very tasty and the chips were awesome too. Reason for a 4 star review was our waiter wasn't the most helpful, didn't seem like he wanted to be there or particularly help us. Hopefully just a bad day so don't let this put you off, the food was brilliant!

On top of that, they’re Blue Ribbon winners in the 2024/25 Good Food Awards. No easy feat. It’d be easy to assume that with all the accolades comes swagger and slapdash, but the reality is more grounded. The wings, tenders and loaded fries are executed precisely. The chicken coatings are crunchy with substance—not the empty crisp of big‑chain fast food, but proper, hearty texture. The fries, dusted with Parmesan and garlic mayo, hold their own even when the toppings disappear—testament to good technique. Drinks? Their house IPA (Wing Fingers) is no afterthought. It’s a full‑blooded, sessionable pint, the kind you actually want to drink alongside your food. This isn’t fine dining—and you wouldn’t want it to be—but it is great cooking. It’s fun, unfiltered and unmistakably good at what it does. Better still, there’s none of the usual street‑food posturing. It just delivers: no filler, all killer. Rating: 4/5. Worth booking a table, though don’t expect velvet napkins. Instead, expect proper chicken that earns every accolade.

Had a stardard haddock and chips for lunch here - though not the large portion, they were certainly a good size. The food was all freshly prepared, with chips crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, whilst the fish was fantastic - white, plumb and flaky. The only minor fault was the chips were slighty over salted, but that was easy to wipe off.

Popped in earlier, 2 cod and chips, and a jumbo sausage, for me and my mum, absolutely brilliant, piping hot and tasted superb, staff were excellent, and the food was very well priced. Definitely be ordering again before we go home.

I found the the fish and chips to be a reasonable size and flavour and was served by cheerful staff. The price was a bit higher than some others in the area though.

We wanted to sort our dinner quickly, including gluten free meal. Had the daily special fish, great, non-gluten fish professionaly prepared and packed separately very tasty.. Picky eaters had chicken bites and burger, which looked amazing. All has gone fast from our table. Will come again.

Bright bubbly staff making the wait time easy, didn't have to wait to order but did have to wait for it to be freshly cooked! Can't complain about that when you get a hot fresh meal!

A cross between 1 or 2 stars unfortunately due to me hate giving 1 star reviews. I gave this 'local' chip shop a go as I would usually go to one nearer the harbour or over near Paignton, and i guess you don't know until try and with a nationally recognised 5star food rating on the government website at time of visit. So I gave them a 'try' but unfortunately the unfriendly welcome from lady on shift (18th May) had already given me bad vibes. I proceeded to order two large chips, 1x home made fish cake, battered sausage, 2 cans of pop which came to near £20. Fish cake was home made as described and recommended. Sausage was OK but seemed over cooked. The biggest let down was the chips, they just tasted like tasteless microchips and for them to cost nearly a fiver and only get one scoop and a sprinkle extra from another scoop was absurd (I watched them get served). I appreciate its your business and you can serve as you wish but the portions I was served were between small-med at other chippies. Anyway we couldn't eat them due to the cardboard microwave chip style taste. I personally won't be visiting again for the lack of customer service and poor quality of chips. I appreciate you have a fair amount of descent reviews, however maybe I just arrived on a 'bad day' Plenty of other choices nearby.

Went in here today after the sign outside caught my eye "Fish and Chips at Sensible Prices" and they are true to their word-the prices are very very reasonable and the fish and chips are tasty! Two lovely girls working there (and playing eye-spy in between customers which I thought was brilliant.) Great, friendly and welcoming atmosphere; will definitely be going here again on our next Fish and Chips craving!

The prices are budget-friendly, but the quality reflects it. Disappointingly, they use frozen chips, which lacks the freshness and flavor you'd hope for in a great British chippy. It's alright if you're on a tight budget and craving some comfort food, but don't expect anything exceptional.

Lovely fish and chips at a reasonable price. Real chips, not frozen - perfectly cooked. OAP special of cod, chips and mushy peas and a tea or coffee was an ample portion and delicious. Great to find somewhere by seafront in Torquay offering something other than overpriced fast food.

Very reasonably priced, mini cod & chips was £4.80. Good selection of fish too. I opted for the large cod & chips, while my wife had the mini. My wife loved the thinly battered cod, whereas I wasn't such a fan. The fish was nice and fluffy, though and the chips were good too. Well worth a visit, especially for the price!

Fish was ok, batter not good at all. Chips were decent 👍 it’s an ok fish and chips shop definitely had better. The staff were friendly and it obviously has a decent name as it filled up while we were there for lunch.

Left half my fish as it started to taste fishy as it was spoiled the curry sauce was sweet and the gravy just tasted powdery only good thing chips were not swimming in oil never again 🤢

Had a great lunch at the Gastrobus… two awesome chefs were funny and unfailingly cheerful! Lovely food, lovingly cooked. Gonna go back.

Went pumpkin picking and decided to take a trip to bantam beach with my son and the dog. I hadn't been bantam in 30 years. And like another reviewer said the only option bakc then was the pub or a small shop about 10 mins walk from the beach. We decided to have a drink and a burger. My wife had the cheese burger, I had the bantam burger and my son had the hotdog. Burgers were proper meat burgers and the hotdog my son loved it. OK it was a little expensive but I've paid alot more and got alot less for my money when your at the beach. Staff very friendly and food was lovely....... I will deffinatly be back for another burger soon....

Really one of the tastiest things I’ve ever eaten: the fried egg and haloumi breakfast bap with the beautiful slaw and kimchi. Just delicious. Lovely staff and beautiful venue. Thank you!

Great coffee, just what we needed although a little bit pricey.

One of the best burgers I have had in a long time. My wife had a vegan burger, with vegan cheese and mayo was equally as good. Coffee very good, looked like they have their own Bantham blend. Definitely be back.

The best beach food ever we thought, came back just for the Gastrobus. Right by the beach and great food. The best breakfast brioche buns with locally sourced sausage and bacon - delicious we had them twice. They are all made fresh to order, so there is a little wait for the food. Breakfast is served until 12 noon, then it's the lunch menu until about 3pm. They also do cakes and flapjacks. You can eat either on tables nearby or they give you a box to take your order to the beach to eat. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Had two haddock and one large chips. More than enough for two adults. The fish was firm and juicy and the batter really crispy - no soggy bottom. The chips were really nice colour and could definitely tell the oil was really fresh. We walked back to our hotel, food still piping hot when unwrapped. Would come back again if we are ever in the area.

Great food, fantastic fish, chips were not greasy and well cooked. This cook knows how to look after his oil. No burnt oil smell or flavour. Best fish and chips I've had in a while. Friendly staff too. Well worth a visit.

With a bit of a queue-phobia, going to a seaside chippy on a sunny Friday evening in the Easter holidays could have been a nightmare but, it was all worth it as these fish and chips were superb. It also guaranteed that everything was piping hot; the haddock was superb, plenty of fish, not over-battered. Meanwhile the chips were neither over-cooked nor greasy. As 2 northerners we would have liked some mushy peas but, when it exotic lands...! A well-run, excellent fish and chip shop.

Friday's better, but unfortunately not open on a Monday. Some people are not suited for customer service. Large fish was not even standard size. Will give it a miss next time.

I've had fish n chips as a visitor to lots of sea side chippy's. This is by far the best fish n chips we've had Definitely recommend if visiting Seaton.

I'm not actually a huge fan of fish and chips but when my family wants it, this is now my go to chippy! It's great, it feels like going back in time to the good old days of my childhood. Friendly staff, very reasonably priced, quick service and good quality food. I hope this business continues to thrive and wish we had more like it! I'd highly recommend!

I used to adore francines. It had huuuuuge portions for very reasonable costs, spilling out over the tray and bundled in paper. Now I feel like the portion sizes are a lot smaller - i thought my husband had ordered the small when we got the large one last time! Which is a huge shame. Still my favourite fish and chip shop and we purposely drive the 25 minutes to it, but I have been disappointed the last few times.

If you want a fish and chip shop that tops taste and portion size for that epic treat.... Then look no further than Francies. It doesn't just supply the local community and passers by, it supply the dockyard and many other working companies in the area. Not just amazing food but service too, not many food sellers can be more than just a shop but this is.

Food good. And reasonable prices except sides like curry sauce and mushy peas which are extortionate in price.

Used framcines for many years but the last few occasions the fish has been dry and a greyish colour not in to standard especially at over £7 for a small piece of cod.

Last night of our holiday, we decided to enjoy a pizza, burger, and chips. Unfortunately, the burger wasn’t cooked through, the cheesy chips were just chips with grated cheese chucked in the bag. Why not put the cheese on top of the cooked chips and then grill it for 5 minutes?! Avoid this establishment! ** Follow up** In reference to the response, I can’t see a reply button, so I’m editing my review. I haven’t contacted yourselves or returned to the business for a refund. What should now be a cause for concern here is there is a trend in poor quality food, this is clearly how you send your burgers out. If somebody has come back for a refund that wasn’t me, how many other people have had poor quality food that you don’t know about?? Why would you think about putting the container (a paper bag) the chips are in, under the grill 😂 I’d put them on a non-flammable tray and let the pizza oven grill them. Customers will wait an extra 5 minutes for good/well prepared food. Wow.. Poor food and poor response. Perhaps if you paid more attention to your kitchen and not talking about how you’ve not played your Xbox in a while standards would be better. Just because you’ve managed to stay open for 17 years doesn’t automatically mean your food is good. Shocking to know that you’ve had another complaint about quality, that you admitted to, in addition to my own. Get yourself over to a Five Guys, then you’ll have a good idea of how a £8 burger should be cooked/taste… Again - AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT

Ordered 4 pizzas, 2 gluten free. All massively over cooked and couldn’t tell the difference between the two normal base pizzas we ordered. Also didn’t expect such thick bases. At £75 super expensive too. Do not recommend.

Terrible food, collected food and then went back to our lodge to find the pizzas way over done and some parts with no toppings on. When I contacted the shop I was told to come back to the shop the next day at 14:00 and a refund would be sorted. No one was to be seen in the shop at this time though. £57 for some of the worst food I’ve eaten in a long time. Won’t be going back again and I suggest that everyone avoids this establishment and just buy a cheap pizza from Aldi

Best pizza we've had in a long time, super fast service. Lovely soft pizza base filled with lovely filling piping hot. The cheesy chutney bites were a fabulous addition. Would certainly recommend and will be back next year !!

Ordered 5 pizzas last night, 4 regular and 1 gluten free and being gluten free I find it so hard to find gluten free alternatives that are nice and Woolacombe Bay Pizza did not disappoint! They were so delicious, especially the spicey one. Lovely service and so friendly, we will definitely be coming back next year. Thanks.

A very poor customer experience. We walked in and waited to be seen to, whist we were the only ones in the shop. After a considerable period of being ignored, a friend of the “chefs” walked in and was greeted immediately and served first. With still no acknowledgment we walked out. I wanted to give this place a try to support a business with seemingly large overheads, but couldn’t score the food because we were not served, maybe it’s great? But I’m not waiting to find out. There is a stone baked pizza van in the beach car park which is cheaper and has massive cues, will go there next time.
