The Golden Temple, located in Amritsar, is a deeply spiritual and enriching experience that visitors will cherish forever. The serene atmosphere and sense of peace within the complex are striking from the moment you enter. The temple's gleaming golden facade is breathtaking, especially when reflected in the surrounding holy tank. It offers an immersive journey into Sikh culture and spirituality, with Guru ka Langar serving simple meals to thousands of devotees daily.
The Golden Temple is one of the most peaceful and spiritual places I have ever visited. The beauty of the shimmering temple surrounded by water is breathtaking, especially at night. What truly stands out is the sense of calm, devotion, and equality here—everyone is welcomed with open arms. The langar (community kitchen) is an incredible experience, serving thousands daily with love and humility. A must-visit for both its spiritual significance and its architectural beauty.

Felt so peaceful after coming here. Went on the eve of Guru Purab, there was a huge crowd but still the management was so effective that everything was happening smoothly. Got in a queue to receive prasad and had a pleasant time sitting near the holy waters.

Our family visited Sri Harmandir Sahib Gurudwara during 21 to 23 October 2025 Dipawali holidays Darshan. We stayed at Sri Guru Arian Devji Niwas, near campus. Due to the blessings of God, we took Darshan for 3 consecutive days, in a calm, tranquil, pious, religious atmosphere. We got Langar prasad. Hundreds of Sikh community bhakts were voluntarily providing their valuable services happily. It has a clean, peaceful, serene, excellent infrastructure facilities coupled with best human resources serving the devotees.

Visiting Sri Harmandir Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple, was a truly divine and peaceful experience. The moment you step inside, the positive energy of the place surrounds you completely. The sight of the golden structure reflecting on the holy water is absolutely breathtaking, it feels serene and spiritual in every sense. The seva done by volunteers, from helping visitors to preparing and serving food in the langar, is truly inspiring. The langar experience itself is something everyone should have at least once, pure, and full of devotion. The entire temple complex is extremely well-maintained, clean, and beautifully organized despite the huge crowds. The pathway around the sarovar is peaceful for sitting or walking, especially in the early morning or late evening when the lighting makes it look magical. Overall, Sri Harmandir Sahib is not just a religious place but a symbol of peace, equality, and faith. No matter what your background is, you’ll feel a deep sense of spirituality here. A must-visit place that truly touches the heart.

A divine place. I have almost zero knowledge of Sikhism. But when I stand in th3 queue for 4 hours that is when I felt the presence different energy. I have been to Kashi, Ujjain and every where u have to stand in queue. A lot of pushing touching, but here people are standing together with families but with pure energy and devotion to "Guru"🙏

Spiritual Atmosphere: Reviewers consistently mention the sacred, peaceful, and divine feeling upon visiting the temple, according to Wanderlog. Free Access & Langar: Entry is free to all, and the daily communal meal, or langar, is also offered to every devotee without charge, a feature widely appreciated. Architectural Beauty: The temple itself is described as beautiful, built from white marble and covered in 24-karat gold, creating a stunning visual spectacle, notes this travel guide. Accessibility: The site is open 24 hours a day, making it accessible for visits at any time.

Visiting Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar was one of the most peaceful and memorable experiences for our family. Also known as the Golden Temple, this holy place is full of positive energy and spiritual vibes. The moment we stepped inside, we felt a deep sense of calm and peace. The shining golden structure in the middle of the holy water looked beautiful, especially during sunrise and sunset. The place is very well maintained and organized, even though it gets crowded. Everyone was helpful, and the management handled everything smoothly. We stood in line for darshan, and it was worth the wait. The divine atmosphere, the sound of Gurbani, and the kind nature of the people made us feel blessed. We also had the langar (free community meal), and it was simple yet very tasty. The idea that everyone sits together and eats, no matter their background, is really touching. My kids also enjoyed and learned a lot about Sikh culture. If you are visiting Amritsar with family, Sri Harmandir Sahib is a must-visit. It’s not just a religious place, but a place where you feel peace, love, and unity.

Dhaba
Vegetarian restaurant
Kesar Da Dhaba is a long-standing eatery located near the iconic Golden Temple in Amritsar. It is renowned for its rich and aromatic Punjabi thalis served in an old-fashioned setting. The menu features classic dishes like Dal Makhani, Paneer Tikka, and Stuffed Paranthas prepared using authentic recipes passed down through generations and enriched with pure desi ghee.
If you’re visiting Amritsar, Kesar Da Dhaba is an absolute must-try for traditional Punjabi food. Their parathas and laccha naan are exceptionally tasty and full of authentic flavor. The service is quick and courteous, and the staff ensures a pleasant dining experience. The seating arrangement is decent, though the interior is quite basic and could be improved. The dhaba is located in a very crowded area, which makes it difficult to reach with a self-drive car — it’s best to park outside and take a rickshaw or tuk-tuk to get there. Overall, it’s a legendary spot for food lovers who want to experience true Amritsari flavors. Highly recommended! 🍽️
Prince I — Google review
I recently visited Kesar Dhaba and tried their stuffed naan thali with chole, dal, curd, and salad. The food was tasty and fulfilling, especially the naan which was well cooked with a nice balance of flavor. The chole was rich and spiced well, giving that authentic dhaba feel. That said, the service was on the slower side, and the ambiance felt quite crowded. Prices are slightly on the higher side compared to regular dhabas, but the portion size was decent enough. Overall, it’s a good place to experience traditional North Indian food, especially if you’re craving naan and chole, but be prepared for some wait time and a busy environment. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (3.5/5)

We visited here for lunch and ordered one special thali, dal fry, plain paratha, and rice. The dal was really good (you should taste) rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait for a table. This is definitely a must visit place in Amritsar, especially to try their famous dal.

First of all, the seating is less with average ambience. Every staff was careless, 3 were sitting on corner tables where customer sits. One staff was standing next to the cashier lady(she might be the owner)and when she got up, he grabbed her chair and started us eating, which looks very weired and non-professional behaviour. The owner lady doesnt have control on her staff and all were careless EXCEPT one lady in uniform, at least she was running the show. Also, observed shortage ot items Lassi which is an all time favorite drink of every north indian. It seems that after the sad demise of the Original Owner, nobody cares about running this famous restaurent. The main part, which is hygeine-- Toilets were dirty, there is water in the Urinal even after having Sensor, used tissues were lying onthe floor instead of dustbin. The floor was wet and water can be seen under the Urinal. There is absolutely careless management who runs this premises very casually like- Ab itna purana naam hai hotel ka to chalana to padega na... I dont know why there is so much hype about this hotel when everybody facing issues. This is my genuine feedback,if anybody want to discuss with me then I will provide my mobile number. The Alloo Paratha,Ghee Roti,Boondi Raita were good. The Kadhai Paneer,Daal Tadka were average. Regards Akhhil Sharmma

Kesar Da Dhaba is located about a 15-minute walk from the Golden Temple, tucked away in narrow lanes of the old city. Finding it can be a bit of a task, especially for first-time visitors, as the approach is quite congested. While the place carries a strong legacy and reputation, it unfortunately seems to be surviving more on its name than on its service or food quality today. The staff seriously lacks basic hospitality and manners — they come across as rude and disinterested, which really takes away from the dining experience. As for the food, it’s average at best. The taste is nothing exceptional — similar to what you’d find at any decent roadside eatery in Amritsar. Their lassi is disappointing and can easily be skipped. One plus point is that the portion sizes are generous — a single thali is enough for two people, making it reasonably good in terms of quantity and value. Overall, it’s a place you can visit once for its historical name, but don’t go expecting an extraordinary experience. There are better and more hospitable options in Amritsar offering equally good — if not better — Punjabi food.
Rahil K — Google review
Great lunch thali, quite busy all day long. good portion, daal and chana was delicious. Don't order separate dishes from the thali set. We order shahi paneer, and it was cold as if it was made since morning.
Jariya S — Google review
Went there on a friend's recommendation. Amazing food, rich in taste and flavours. Dal and palak paneer was one of the best I've ever eaten. Prices for thali are a bit high as per the portion and service.
Rishabh S — Google review
People say it's a must if you visit Amritsar, but I found no Dhaba vibes, it's a well maintained resturant. There're some good authentic dhanbad close by, so if you don't want to go with the standard hype, avoid. I should have done that.

Tour Review: Amritsar Bus Tour with Guide Iqbal Singh I recently had the pleasure of taking a guided bus tour of Amritsar, and it was a truly enriching experience—largely thanks to our fantastic guide, Iqbal Singh. From start to finish, the tour was well-organized, informative, and full of local charm. Iqbal Singh brought the city to life with his deep knowledge of Amritsar’s history, culture, and hidden gems. His storytelling skills were impressive—he made each stop engaging, whether we were standing in front of the majestic Golden Temple or exploring the historic lanes near Jallianwala Bagh. The bus was comfortable, clean, and well-maintained, making it easy to relax and enjoy the ride between destinations. The garden features an eternal flame-shaped memorial and serves as a significant historical site. It is part of the Heritage Mile along with the Golden Temple and the Partition Museum.
Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar is a place which I always wanted to visit. More than a tourist destination; it's a very historical place historical which has left a lasting impression on every Indian. Having heard so much of the incident on 1919 when the British indiscriminately fired on and killed and wounded many Indians, visiting Jallianwala Bagh was a deeply moving and emotional experience for us. The moment you walk in, as you have heard a lot of on the event, you can feel the weight of history all around you. They have preserved bullet marks on the walls and the well with a tragic story behind it serve as powerful reminders of the sacrifices made during India's freedom struggle. Government has done some renovation also. A good step. The place brings in a strong sense of patriotism and gratitude. It is located at a walking distance near the revered Golden Temple, and a must see of any trip to Amritsar, offering a stark reminder of India's struggle for independence. A must visit historical monument for all Indians. There are a lot of informative displays and a garden area for reflection. The place was very crowded as we went on a weekend.

Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar is not just a tourist destination — it’s a sacred ground of history and sacrifice that every Indian carries in their heart. I had always wanted to visit this place, and being here was a deeply emotional and humbling experience. Having read and heard about the tragic incident of 1919, when innocent Indians were mercilessly fired upon by British troops, stepping inside the Bagh fills you with a powerful sense of grief and respect. You can almost feel the weight of history in the air. The preserved bullet marks on the walls and the Martyrs’ Well stand as silent yet powerful reminders of the immense courage and suffering of those who laid down their lives for our freedom. The recent renovations by the government have enhanced the site while maintaining its historical essence — a thoughtful step indeed. Located just a short walk from the Golden Temple, this memorial is an essential part of any visit to Amritsar. The informative displays, peaceful garden areas, and solemn atmosphere make it a place for reflection and gratitude. It was quite crowded when we visited over the weekend, but that only shows how strongly this place continues to touch the hearts of people. A must-visit historical monument for every Indian — one that rekindles patriotism, pride, and deep respect for our nation’s freedom fighters. 🇮🇳❤️

My visit to Jallianwala Bagh was one of the most emotional and meaningful experiences I’ve had while travelling. The moment you enter, the atmosphere itself feels heavy with history. This is not just a tourist spot—it’s a place that carries the pain, sacrifice, and bravery of countless innocent people who lost their lives on 13 April 1919. Walking through the narrow entrance, you immediately understand how trapped people must have felt during the tragic massacre. The preservation of the site is commendable. The bullet marks on the walls, the Martyrs’ Well, and the museum galleries are maintained with respect and detail. Each display, photograph, and written description helps you understand the magnitude of what happened here. The museum section is especially powerful, offering well-curated visuals, documents, and audio clips that make history come alive. The gardens and pathways are clean, the lighting is good, and the entire place is organized to handle heavy crowds. Despite being a popular tourist place, there’s a sense of silence and reflection everywhere. Security checks are smooth, and the staff is helpful in guiding visitors. In my opinion, Jallianwala Bagh is a must-visit landmark for every Indian. It’s not only a place to see but a place to feel. You leave with a deeper understanding of our freedom struggle and immense respect for the martyrs who sacrificed everything. Highly recommended for students, families, and anyone visiting Amritsar.

Jallianwala Bagh is one of the most historic places in India, carrying the painful memory of the tragic massacre of 1919. Visiting this site is both an emotional and educational experience, as it reminds us of the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle. The preserved walls with bullet marks and the memorial serve as powerful symbols of the disaster that should never be forgotten. The site is maintained well and provides proper historical explanations through displays and plaques, making it easier for visitors to understand the events that unfolded here. One of the best things about Jallianwala Bagh is that there is no entry fee, so anyone can walk in and pay their respects. It is located very close to the Golden Temple, which makes it convenient to cover both in the same trip. The garden closes at 5 p.m., so visiting early is recommended not only to avoid the harsh sun but also to have ample time to explore peacefully. Be cautious, though, as there are occasional pickpocketing incidents reported around the area, and police presence is limited. On the brighter side, the place is surrounded by plenty of restaurants. Entry and exit are through different gates, ensuring smooth movement of visitors.

The place is well maintained and there’s no entry fee. You can easily spend a couple of hours exploring around and understanding the history connected to this site. Those bullet marks that are preserved, the well that has been closed - it really gives chills watching it all. Martyrs Well

Historical place
Martyrs Well is a significant historical site located within the Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar. It holds great importance as it commemorates the victims of the tragic Jallianwala Bagh massacre that took place in 1919 during British rule. The well and its surrounding landscaped gardens serve as a poignant reminder of the sacrifice and pain endured by numerous men, women, and children who sought refuge from the brutal gunfire by British troops.
Located in Jallianwala Bagh, Katra Ahluwalia, Amritsar, the Martyrs’ Well stands as one of the most moving reminders of India’s colonial past. It is part of the memorial complex that preserves the memories of the tragic massacre of April 13, 1919. During the brutal firing ordered by General Dyer, hundreds of men, women, and children, in a desperate attempt to escape bullets, jumped into this well. Sadly, over 120 lives were lost inside the well, making it a silent grave of innocent souls. The structure is now preserved with a protective boundary and dome, allowing visitors to reflect upon the enormity of the tragedy. The well holds deep emotional and historical significance. Visiting the Martyrs’ Well evokes a profound sense of grief and respect. It is not just a memorial but a sacred reminder of sacrifice, courage, and the high price paid for India’s freedom.

The Shaheedi well which itself tells the haunting story of Jallianwala bagh massacre . But after reconstructing it lost its value. Earlier there were above 25 bulletin marks on this wall. Now they just modified it and ruined its true form. The inside walls were painted.. outside walls been extended 😑 actually they ruined the Jallianwala bagh memorial.
Shibu M — Google review
Visiting Jallianwala Bagh was not just a historical visit, it was an emotional awakening. As I walked through the narrow passage, I could feel the weight of what had happened here. One single exit. No way out. Hundreds of innocent lives trapped, and mercilessly gunned down under General Dyer’s cold-blooded orders. When I reached the well that well, my heart broke. This wasn’t just stone and water. It was a sacred tomb. So many people, in desperation, leapt into its depths, trying to escape bullets. Mothers, children, elders… choosing to jump rather than be shot. I stood there frozen, and then I cried. Tears flowed for lives that never got justice, for voices that were never heard. The well holds their last breath. You can feel it. I sat at the Amar Jyoti, in silence, offering my prayers. It felt like the very ground still echoed with their final screams and hopes. The gallery and museum are beautifully preserved, telling stories not just of pain, but of resilience, unity, and the spirit of a people who rose from the ashes. Jallianwala Bagh is not just a place, it’s a pulse of India’s freedom, still beating through grief, still sacred.
Bella M — Google review
The Martyrs' Well, located at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar, Punjab, is a poignant and historic symbol commemorating one of the darkest and most tragic episodes in India's struggle for independence. It serves as a grim reminder of the horrific events that unfolded on April 13, 1919, during the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, when British colonial troops under Brigadier General Reginald Dyer opened fire on a peaceful gathering of Indian civilians. Jallianwala Bagh was a public garden enclosed by high walls with only narrow entrances, located near the Golden Temple in Amritsar. On that day, thousands of people had assembled at the Bagh to celebrate the Sikh festival of Baisakhi and were also protesting non-violently against the repressive Rowlatt Act imposed by the British government, which allowed imprisonment without trial. Without any warning or order to disperse, General Dyer ordered his soldiers to fire indiscriminately into the crowd for about ten minutes, firing 1,650 rounds of ammunition. As the gunfire rained down, many trapped inside the enclosed space tried to escape but found themselves blocked by soldiers at the narrow exits. In a desperate attempt to save their lives, several people jumped into the well inside the garden, which is now known as the Martyrs' Well. Tragically, many drowned or were injured in the fall. According to the memorial plaque, about 120 bodies were recovered from the well, making it a grim site of sacrifice and loss. Today, the Martyrs' Well is preserved as a protected monument within the Jallianwala Bagh memorial complex. It stands surrounded by a beautifully maintained garden, offering visitors a solemn and reflective space to remember the victims. The well has been covered with a transparent barrier to preserve its sanctity, and informational plaques provide historical context about the massacre and the people who perished trying to escape the bullets. The walls of the garden still bear the bullet marks inflicted during the shooting, and the narrow entrance through which General Dyer’s troops entered remains unchanged, helping visitors imagine the scene of panic and helplessness endured by the victims. The Jallianwala Bagh complex also includes a memorial designed by American architect Benjamin Polk, inaugurated in 1961, which honors the martyrs with the eternal flame called "Amar Jyoti" symbolizing their undying spirit. The massacre had profound consequences, becoming a turning point in India’s independence movement. It galvanized the Indian population and leaders, including Mahatma Gandhi, who called for a nationwide non-cooperation movement against British rule. The Martyrs' Well remains a testament to the sacrifices made by ordinary citizens for the freedom of India and stands as a symbol of courage, resistance, and the quest for justice. Visitors to the Martyrs’ Well are often moved by the tragic yet heroic stories encapsulated by the site. It serves as an important reminder of the brutal realities of colonial oppression but also of the indomitable human spirit that refuses to yield. The well and the memorial ensure that the legacy of those who lost their lives in Jallianwala Bagh is preserved for future generations, fostering reflection on the cost of freedom and the importance of peaceful resistance. In essence, the Martyrs' Well at Jallianwala Bagh is not only a historic landmark but also a powerful symbol of sacrifice and resilience in India's journey to independence. 💯💯💯💯💯🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍👍

Place where the freedom fighters fell into well when there was uninformed firing of bullets . The history says that, freedom fighters thought that ,it was better to die jumping to well and commit suicide than getting killed by the British people. Almost 120 bodies of Martyrs were recovered after the incident.

Beautiful renovation and the light and music show was very informative and intriguing. Must visit and attend the show which starts at 815 pm (Hindi version). Do visit this place before sunset to enjoy the rest of the bagh, as you won't be allowed to move around during the light and music show. And as soon as the show ends, the place is closed and you are asked to exit.

It's an amazing place. A tribute to 1919 jaliawala baag Martyrs. This park is now newly developed there are more gallary area they made in side the park. Where you can see the pictures of the jaliawala baag in those days and story behind it. Previously it has one entrence area and the same area I used for the exit. But no they isolate both now exit area is open up in the market area. Earlier there was no ticket system but looks like in the future they are planning a token system same a metro. Enterance also they chane notify can see the pictures on the walls. More green area and we'll maintained. Seriously I loved this place and it's just walkable distance from the golden temple. And you can cover this within 1 hr.

The Partition Museum in Amritsar is a historical museum that documents the 1947 partition of India and Pakistan through a collection of photos, documents, and artifacts. It offers an exhaustive set of items providing insights into the country's history. The museum showcases various artifacts dating back to prehistoric and BC ages, as well as exhibits from ancient history and handicraft works. A visit to this museum is a must for those interested in delving into the rich history of the region.
The Partition Museum, located near Town Hall in Amritsar, is the world’s first museum dedicated to the memory of India’s Partition of 1947. It beautifully yet painfully captures the human stories, struggles, and resilience of millions who experienced one of the largest mass migrations in history. ✔️ Highlights: • Personal stories, letters, photographs, and belongings of refugees • Audio-visual exhibits narrating real-life experiences of Partition • Art installations and maps showing migration routes and refugee camps • Peace Wall with messages of hope and unity • Well-curated galleries that take you on a chronological journey of events before, during, and after Partition ⚠️ Things to keep in mind: • The atmosphere is emotional and heavy—be prepared for a moving experience • Allow 1.5–2 hours to explore fully • Photography is restricted in certain sections • Closed on Mondays—check timings before visiting ⭐ Overall: A powerful and emotional museum that makes history come alive through real human experiences. Visiting the Partition Museum is not just educational, but also deeply moving, reminding us of the value of peace and unity.

I recently visited the Partition Museum in Amritsar, and I really liked it. The museum is very informative and gives a deep insight into the history and emotions of the Partition of 1947. The displays, personal stories, and photographs are very moving and beautifully presented. It gives deep sense of emotions when we learn the sacrifices of the innocent made because of few people's greed, stubbornness and unplanned activity. Overall, it’s a must-visit place.

Great place to learn about partition, political scenario that led to it and its aftermath. There is lot of reading needed, wish there was more audio visual treatment. If you have time, do get an audio guide available at rs 100.

The partition museum is a place to visit while in Amritsar. It displays a lot of information and artefacts related to the Partition of erstwhile India into India and Pakistan. It is good place to visit if you are interested to know of the history related to partition.

This partition museum is about how the actual partition happened between India and Pakistan who fought together for independence but demanded different countries for different religions The Partition Museum is a public museum located in the town hall of Amritsar, Punjab, India.[1] The museum aims to become the central repository of stories, materials, and documents related to the post-partition riots that followed the division of British India into two independent dominions: India and Pakistan. The museum also focuses on the history of the “anti-colonial movement, the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, the Komagata Maru incident, the All India Muslim League and the Indian National Congress, and the journey of resilience and recuperation for women”.The building wherein the museum is located in Amritsar was also “once the British headquarters and a jail”. The museum was inaugurated on 25 August 2017. Punjab In 1947, British India was divided into India and Pakistan. The partition lines, drawn on a map by the British lawyer Cyril Radcliffe, divided the province of Punjab and Bengal into two parts on the basis of religion. As a result, millions of people found themselves on the wrong side of the border overnight. According to various estimates, more than 800,000 Muslims, Hindus, and Sikhs were killed in the riots that followed the partition between August 1947 to January 1948. Additionally, more than 1,400,000 people became refugees.

The Partition Museum, located in Amritsar, Punjab, is a unique and deeply moving institution dedicated to the memory of the 1947 Partition of India. It's the first of its kind in the world, serving as a powerful memorial and a central repository for the stories, artifacts, and documents from that tumultuous period. A "People's Museum" The museum's core mission is to tell the human stories of the Partition. Instead of focusing solely on political events, it highlights the experiences of the millions of people who were displaced, lost their homes, and endured immense suffering. The museum's collection is built largely on oral histories and personal artifacts donated by survivors and their families—things like clothes, utensils, and letters that people carried with them as they fled their homes. Location and Exhibits The museum is housed in the historic Town Hall building in Amritsar, a fitting location given the city's close proximity to the India-Pakistan border and its central role in the events of 1947. The exhibits are arranged chronologically, taking visitors through the events that led up to the Partition, the mass migration and violence that followed, and the subsequent efforts of rehabilitation and resettlement. Through photographs, videos, audio recordings, and personal belongings, the museum creates a powerful and often heartbreaking narrative. Why It's Important The Partition was one of the largest mass migrations in human history, with millions of people displaced and an estimated one to two million killed. For decades, there was no dedicated memorial or museum to commemorate this event. The Partition Museum fills this void, ensuring that the stories of the survivors and the legacy of this historical event are not forgotten. It serves as a reminder of the human cost of political decisions and the resilience of those who rebuilt their lives after such a profound upheaval. Very beautiful and well managed. They provide audiotours so you don’t have to worry if you know about history or not. It gives goosebumps while going through and getting to know things. 1-1.30 hrs is enough. No photography allowed inside. Ticlets are proced at Rs. 10. The theme is; as the name suggests- partition, what led to the partition and the aftermath! Do visit, it’s near Golden Temple Complex only. Closed on Monday.

This place is a must-visit for an authentic taste of Punjabi cuisine in Amritsar! The restaurant, with its expansive size and a variety of stalls offering delicious treats, is hard to miss, located conveniently near the Partition Museum. I highly suggest trying their signature dish, the "Rang Punjab Tasting Platter" – a delightful mix of traditional Punjab dishes. It was a burst of flavors that I thoroughly enjoyed. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Don't forget to explore the multiple stalls around the main restaurant, offering treats like hot Jalebi and teas – it's a must-try for all food enthusiasts!

Great pure vegetarian restaurant in the heart of Amritsar. The food here is fingerlicking delicious. The ambiance is creative and beautiful. Thoughtful interiors. Must try classic lassi, dal makhni and paneer bhurji here. The prices are a little on the expensive side but very well manageable. Quantity is good for 3 people.

It's a cozy and comfortable place is Amritsar city range with wide variety of Punjabi food or o would say it's only of its best place for based on sitting arrangement and enjoy food with in the old city of Amritsar. Their stuff are behaved and trained for hospitality!! and it's actually worth visiting though it's not that pocket friendly as compare to other near places in Amritsar but embiance can cover that amount 👍

"Naam bade aur darshan chhote" this quote is for Rang Punjab. Let me start with the good part. 1. Nice seating 2. Good ambience 3. Decent service Well, this place is lil bit on the expensive side. But that is not the problem. The actual problem is the food. We ordered Dal badi Pulav, palak paneer, chai, bun maska, khasta paratha and naan. The pulav looked like it was mixed and served with some old rice which was not sold earlier. The Bun was not fresh. Khasta paratha wasn't great either. Palak paneer was good. Decent chai. Overall it was a huge disappointment. And we paid alot for this kind of food. I dont recommend this place.

Neelam's is a must-visit spot in Amritsar, with over 16 years of culinary expertise. The owner and his father are outstanding, and the staff is polite and accommodating. The menu offers a wide variety of delectable dishes, from traditional Indian fare like Amritsari kulcha and poori chole to international favorites like noodles with chili paneer. Guests rave about the delicious flavors and commendable hygiene standards.

We found this place in the Lonely Planet guide, so we knew we could trust our choice. What we didn’t expect was the warm and familiar welcome from the owner, who was genuinely caring, taking the time to explain all the dishes and recommend the local specialties to try. We felt we had to leave this review so that tourists (and locals alike) who don’t have the guide won’t miss out on this amazing place.

Tasted evening chats and taste is average. Aloo tikki is better. Hospitality is not that great. It’s weird to know the restaurant don’t provide water and everyone are forced to buy packed water bottles.

After spending two and a half weeks in India, I wanted to try something different, so I ordered Chinese noodles. They were too salty for my taste, but the owner kindly offered to recook them. The second serving was much better, with less salty. The prices are reasonable, the café is clean, and the staff are friendly.

Indian sweets shop

Gurdass Ram Jalebian Wala is a renowned establishment in Amritsar, known for its heavenly hot jalebis fried to perfection in pure ghee. The jalebis are freshly made right in front of you, ensuring maximum freshness and flavor. This small shop, located near the Golden Temple, offers an enchanting culinary experience with its traditional jalebi-making process that has remained unchanged over the years.
Tucked away in the vibrant lanes near the Golden Temple, Gurdasram Jalebi Wale is not just a sweet shop—it’s a legacy. For decades, this iconic corner of Amritsar has been delighting visitors with the kind of rich, nostalgic taste that only time-honored recipes and unwavering passion can deliver. Despite the humble setup—where you stand and relish your snacks on the spot—the experience is anything but ordinary. The jalebis, golden and glistening, strike a perfect balance between crispness and syrupy indulgence. Each bite bursts with flavor, delivering a warmth that feels handcrafted and soulful. Their gulab jamuns are equally divine—soft, melt-in-the-mouth spheres soaked in just the right amount of sweetness, without ever feeling overpowering. The texture, the aroma, and the taste all reflect a deep-rooted commitment to quality that has stood the test of time. Whether you’re a local or a traveler seeking an authentic culinary moment near the Golden Temple, Gurdasram is a must-visit. It’s more than just a sweet stop—it’s a celebration of Amritsar’s rich food heritage, served one impeccable bite at a time.

Gurudas Ram Jalebi is known for its Jalebi and Gulab Jamun. We tried only the Jalebi. it was fresh but on the thicker and less crunchy side; we personally prefer the thin, crispy type. The place isn’t immaculate, and the handwashing area is right next to where the food is prepared, which can be improved. It would be great if the local authorities and shop owners worked together to enhance hygiene, similar to how Indore has developed its street food zones.
Santhosh B — Google review
This sweet shop is located just a 5-minute walk from the Golden Temple, making it an easy stop for anyone exploring the area. They serve a variety of Indian sweets, but the jalebis and gulab jamuns are what they’re truly known for. The jalebis are served hot, fresh off the kadhai — tasty and unique, though not very crispy, which actually gives them a different texture. They’re also not overly sweet, which makes them enjoyable even for those who prefer lighter sweets. The gulab jamuns are soft and flavorful, definitely worth trying, though not the best you’ll find in Amritsar. There’s no seating, so you’ll need to stand on the street and enjoy your sweets, which adds to the local charm of the experience. Overall, a good place for a quick, authentic sweet fix near the Golden Temple, especially if you’re craving hot jalebis straight from the pan.

This is located in Fairfield by marriott at Amritsar. The food quality is average or just Above average. We booked from Zomato. There was supposed to be a 35% off on total bill. The restaurant denied it and said that's only on food and not on drinks. Very strange. I complained to zomato they apologized and refunded. But the restaurant staff was not helpful and strange. We ordered a cocktail with olives. There were no green olives in the restaurant. Not marriott standards at all. The veg Platter was good. Dimsums were good. No complains. Atmosphere of the restaurant was good. But service can be improved. The manger did not know about the discount. And says we get very few bookings from zomato.

The noodles and honey chilli potato were perfectly cooked with just the right balance of spices, and the fresh lime soda was especially refreshing and tasty. The quality of the food and presentation was impressive, and the taste definitely lived up to expectations. The service was another highlight — staff members were courteous, prompt, and attentive throughout our meal. The ambience was calm and modern, offering a relaxed dining environment away from the city’s hustle. Sadda Pind Amritsar is a unique destination that offers a glimpse into traditional Punjabi village life. It's like a living museum where visitors can immerse themselves in the cultural arts, architecture, and flavors of Punjab. The recreated village features mud huts, cobblestone paths, and lush greenery, providing an authentic rural experience. Guests can participate in hands-on activities such as pottery and Phulkari embroidery led by skilled artisans.
Sadda Pind in Amritsar offers an authentic glimpse of Punjabi culture with folk dances, traditional food, and village-style activities. A lively and family-friendly experience. We loved it, highly recommended for NRi's to bring their kids here with their grandparents, once in a lifetime.

A wonderful showcase of vibrant Punjabi culture and authentic local flavors! The live performances were engaging, and the overall ambiance truly reflected the rich heritage of Punjab. However, it would be great if the management could consider providing an air-conditioned resting area for elderly visitors and families with young children to relax comfortably. Also, while the traditional drink was refreshing, we were expecting lassi as mentioned—but it turned out to be buttermilk. Still, a memorable experience worth visiting!

Very nice place with little activities spread across the area. Food was also good, authentic dishes & taste. The people managing the activities were very warm & welcoming. Definitely worth a visit & aim to spend at least 4-5 hours to fully enjoy the place & participatein the activities (turban & paranda tying, mehndi, popcorn making, makki roti-saag tasting, village cinema, camel rides, etc.)

We visited Sadda Pind on Lohri day this January without realizing most places in Amritsar would be shut — even the Golden Temple had huge crowds. Our auto driver recommended we check out Sadda Pind, and we’re so glad we did! Even though we reached pretty late, the experience was so memorable. A group of aunties were sitting by a bonfire making makki di roti and sarson da saag — we sat with them, chatted, and had one of the coziest meals of our trip. The vibe was so warm and welcoming, even at closing time. We got to explore a few cultural setups, had a full-on tel malish (which was amazing in that freezing weather), and ended the night with a delicious buffet dinner — all-you-can-eat Punjabi food, both veg and non-veg, plus desserts. When we were done, the place was almost shut and we couldn’t find a ride back, but one of the staff kindly helped us get an auto. It was freezing but so much fun. Would definitely recommend visiting for a wholesome and heartwarming experience!

Its a kind of village museum which shows how the houses were built in villages of Punjab. Its a unique concept showcasing villages of Punjab. Also showcases rich and beautiful Punjabi culture. Their are many cultural performances like folk dances, artisan workshop like pottery, weaving and phulkari embroidery. Their are many games for kids, magic show, many photo points. You can enjoy traditional dishes like makke ki roti, sarso ka saag, bajra khichdi. The tickets include food which is based on buffet system, it has good variety in menu. Taste is authentic and all dishes were flavorful. Staff here is very kind, polite, attentive and ever smiling. Overall the property is well maintained and good value for money.

Food is very good,a rich punjabi cuisine. The staff is very polite. They have rooms for accommodation too. But little expensive on that part. I'm not sure if the meals are included. It gives a glimpse of rural life of Punjab in India. Activites are monotonous after a few visits. Good place for children. It's ok to visit one time especially for tourists visiting Attari Wagah border ceremony.

The restaurant is good with lot of options and the food is very traditional and tasty. There are also areas for shopping handicrafts, juttis (Punjabi shoes), phulkari dupattas, souvenirs. We understand there is Heritage style rooms for overnight stays. You should allow for at least three hours of time to fully go through the all areas and take a look at them

The Punjab State War Heroes' Memorial & Museum in Amritsar is a must-visit destination for those interested in military history. The museum features eight halls that chronicle battle history from ancient times to 1999, and its centerpiece is a striking 148-ft.-tall sword memorial. Visitors can explore exhibits from the Navy Force and Air Force, as well as tanks, cannons, shields, spears, bows, swords, and daggers.
A Powerful Tribute to the Brave – A Must-Visit Memorial The Punjab State War Heroes Memorial and Museum is an extraordinary place that left me both humbled and inspired. Located near the India-Pakistan border in Amritsar, this museum is a powerful tribute to the brave soldiers of Punjab who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. The architecture of the memorial is striking — the soaring central sword sculpture and flame symbolize valor and honor. The museum itself is beautifully designed and very well maintained. Inside, it’s not just about reading history — it’s an immersive experience. From the moment you enter, you’re taken through various galleries that showcase Punjab’s rich military history, dating back to ancient times through to the modern Indian Armed Forces. The exhibits include authentic weapons, uniforms, medals, and detailed accounts of famous battles. The 7D theater is a highlight — it gives a goosebump-inducing reenactment of war scenes that makes you feel the courage and sacrifice of our soldiers in a very real way. One section that really moved me was the display of letters, photographs, and stories of individual martyrs. It puts faces and emotions to the names we often hear. It’s a reminder of the real people and families behind the headlines. The museum staff are helpful and respectful, and the overall environment encourages quiet reflection. It’s not just for history buffs — it's a place every Indian should visit to truly understand the price of our freedom. I’ve uploaded a few photos from my visit, but honestly, no image can capture the emotional depth of this place. Salute to the heroes of Punjab and India. Jai Hind 🇮🇳

Huge space, has 8 galleries each needs 30 mins atleast. You can get a guide and also has a 7D show which we had to miss. Loved our time there, only advise dont underestimate and keep ample time specially if you are history buff. Museum covers wars from Sikh gurus to modern Kargil war and how Sikh regiments have contributed.
Deepak L — Google review
Very well maintained and it's nice to have a guide explaining each module and the sword figure is cool. Please avoid 7D show. It's very badly maintained and only first few minutes they explain abt Maharaja Ranjit Singh, next it's hellish with those seats and all the roller coaster video. I was sick after the show.
Nityashree G — Google review
You’ll need at least one full day to explore this place properly. There are both pros and cons when hiring a guide — the advantage is that you’ll understand the real stories behind the wars and unsung heroes that never made it to print media. The flip side is that most guides tend to rush through, so if you want to spend more time, you’ll have to set that expectation clearly. We had to rush to the Attari Border in the second half, so our guide wrapped up the tour in about 2 hours. The exhibits are interesting, but the show isn’t that impressive — it lacks a proper storyline and flow. They could’ve made it much better with a virtual tour or an interactive presentation covering all four major wars to provide a better context. The museum is co-owned by the Punjab State Government and the Ministry of Defence, and while the concept and structure are excellent, there’s still scope for better storytelling and visitor experience. Overall, a good place to visit if you’re interested in history and war stories — just make sure to plan enough time and get a good guide.

The museum is very very amazing, the statues, the stories worth every bit. But have atleast 4 hours to enjoy it fully. To fully enjoy, have a guide. Our guide was Kritika, she explained everything very well and is a very sweet lady who answers questions very well. Ask for her when you reach Gallery 1 soon after entry. Mesmerised with the Sikh culture, the war stories and the bravery of each and every soldier. 7D theatre is bit Ohkay but can try.

Good place for a few hours visit enroute the border. Tickets are 150 per person, Hire a guide for 100 Rs for detailed information on all 8 galleries. 7D movie is for Rs 50 (movie is for about 10 minutes, and 5 minutes of 7D Roller coster ride)

This place related to sikhesim. History of this place - Guru Arjan Dev Ji,the fifth Sikh guru, had q large well constructed in this area. The well was so large that it required 6 persian wheels to operate.chheharta got its name from the six wheels, where six chhe (punjabi: ਛੇ) and the persain wheel is called hart (punjabi : ਹਰਟ). The well was now been covered, but its water is still pumped to feed the main tank of the Gurudwara.now developed as industrial township, chheharta falls within the revenue limits of Vadali Guru, a village one km to the south, where guru arjan stayed during 1594-97.

Spiritual place to feel the calm and serene environment. One can feel the positive energy oozing throughout this Holy Place. No problem of parking as there is plenty of space available. It gets crowded on some special occasions. So, on that day its better to plan your visit first before you get stuck in traffic chaos as one has to pass railway crossing before reaching there. I couldn't forget that day where i was stuck on the crossing for at least 3 hours. Hope this never happens to anyone. Anyhow, must go place if you want to feel the presence of God.

Located opposite the Khalsa College, Punjab Naatshala hosts a Punjabi play called Saka Jallianwala Bagh once a month. The play, staged since June 2019, is written by Jatinder Brar and directed by Jaswant Mintu. It's an engaging two-hour show suitable for all ages. The college itself is known for its valuable educational facilities and beautiful campus.

It finds inspiration in the lofty ideals of the Great Gurus who have always advocated a progressive attitude of mind, giving up all that is dogmatic, according due value to intelligence and logic.

Historic architecture. Khalsa College in Amritsar, Punjab, is a historic institution renowned for its stunning architecture and cultural heritage. Established in 1892, the college's grand buildings and meticulously maintained grounds reflect its rich legacy, making it a visually captivating and inspiring place. The campus, with its lush greenery and majestic structures, undoubtedly deserves a 7 out of 10 for its aesthetic and historical significance. However, despite its impressive exterior, Khalsa College struggles to deliver a high-quality academic experience. The education level at the institution leaves much to be desired, with outdated curricula and teaching methods that do not meet modern standards. Students often find themselves yearning for more rigorous academic challenges and better learning resources. Consequently, the college scores only a 4 out of 10 in terms of educational quality. In summary, Khalsa College is a jewel in terms of its physical and historical presence, offering an environment rich in heritage and beauty. However, to truly honor its legacy and provide a well-rounded educational experience, significant improvements in academic standards and teaching methods are essential.

Khalsa College in Amritsar, a premier educational institution, is located on Grand Trunk Road. Established in 1892 by leaders of the Singh Sabha Movement, it was envisioned to provide higher education to the Sikh and Punjabi communities. The college's sprawling 300-acre campus and its striking architectural design, created by the renowned architect Ram Singh, make it a historical landmark in itself. The college building is a magnificent example of Indo-Saracenic architecture, beautifully blending traditional Indian and Mughal styles. The main structure, with its large domes, arches, and intricate details, reflects the grandeur and rich cultural heritage of Punjab. This impressive design gives the campus a unique and timeless character, making it a prominent architectural gem in the region. Khalsa College offers a wide range of academic disciplines, with numerous departments covering various fields of study. These include departments in Arts, Sciences, Commerce, and Agriculture, among others. The college is affiliated with Guru Nanak Dev University and has a strong focus on research, with a dedicated Sikh History and Research Centre. Beyond its academic contributions, Khalsa College serves as a symbol of cultural and historical pride. Its founding was a significant step in the educational and social upliftment of the community. Today, it remains a pillar of learning and a testament to the vision of its founders, continuing to uphold its legacy as a leading educational center in Punjab.

I'm being honoured to be in this prestigious University/College. Such a grand place. Meet some students and looks very proud of themselves for being member of the univesity. They gave me the most warm welcome. A good place to be for small numbers or single traveller and not for big tour groups as this is a university. Needs to honour their privacy. Under a 5-minute drive from Sadda Pind Amritsar, here are a few close by recommendations for when you get hungry exploring around.

Brothers Dhaba

North Indian restaurant
Brothers Dhaba is a vibrant and casual dining spot that offers a variety of vegetarian northern Indian dishes. Situated near the Golden Temple in Amritsar, it's a popular choice for those craving authentic North Indian cuisine. The menu features favorites like Aloo Gobi, Paneer Butter Masala, and creamy Dal Makhani. With its bustling atmosphere, generous portions, and warm hospitality, Brothers Dhaba is a must-visit for food enthusiasts exploring the area.
Brothers Dhaba – Where Comfort Food Gets a Punjabi Punch Born out of the same culinary roots as its elder sibling, Brothers Dhaba brings its own flavor to the table — quite literally. While it shares the legacy, it carves a different path, blending tradition with a touch of home-style flair. Step inside and you’re welcomed with aromas that feel instantly familiar — like walking into your grandma’s kitchen on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Let’s talk Kadhi Chawal. It’s got that perfect tang, poured over fluffy rice, and finished with a drizzle of desi ghee that ties it all together. A side of crisp onions adds the crunch you didn’t know you needed. It’s comfort food that hugs you back. And the Rajma Chawal? Oh, it’s dreamy. Silky-soft kidney beans in a rich, slow-cooked gravy that’s clearly made with love and a lot of patience. The kind of rajma that doesn't need bells or whistles — just a spoon, a quiet moment, and maybe a nap afterward. Brothers Dhaba doesn’t just serve food — it serves nostalgia, in generous portions. Pro Move: Sneak in that extra plate of Kadhi Chawal. Even if you’re full, you’ll find the space. And yes, it’s totally worth it. 📍Located right by Town Hall, Amritsar — sharing walls with legacy, but standing strong on its own.

There are lot of mixed reviews of this place but the place is actually good to dine. The food is fantastic with authentic flavours. Daal Makhni, Paneer, Chhole everything is wonderful. Lachha parathas are very unique and crispy, not eaten anywhere else in the country. Staff is very friendly and serves you really well. Serving time is not long. The desserts however are average and can be avoided. Food here is a must try, specially their thali. Highly Recommended. Located right in vicinity if Golden Temple, you are very likely to love their food.

Had a great experience at Brother’s Dhaba in Amritsar! The food was flavorful and satisfying, but the highlight for me was definitely the amazing Amritsari Kulche—crispy on the outside, perfectly stuffed, and served with delicious chole and chutney. The mango lassi was another winner—thick, creamy, and refreshing, just the way it should be. Portion sizes were generous, making it great value for money. The place has a casual, lively vibe and quick service too. A must-visit if you’re in Amritsar and craving authentic Punjabi food!
Soumee B — Google review
A must-visit spot near the Golden Temple for anyone craving authentic Punjabi comfort food. The chole bhature, rajma chawal, and paneer dishes are full of flavor and generously portioned. Service is quick and efficient, even during rush hours. The place is usually crowded, but the turnaround time is fast, making it ideal for tourists on the go. 💡 Tip: Try the lassi — it's thick, creamy, and served chilled in a steel tumbler. Best visited during early lunch or late dinner hours to avoid long queues.

This place serves amazing Amritsari kulcha and choor choor naan. The food tastes really good and is of good quality. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the service is quick. The prices are a bit high, but it's worth it for the delicious food. This is on the way to wagha border and will recommend this place than any other places for kulchas.
Bhargav M — Google review
I recently visited this restaurant and had a very unpleasant experience. While eating, I discovered a black worm on my plate, right in the middle of the food. This is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about the hygiene and food safety standards of this place. Despite the food being otherwise decent, such a lapse in cleanliness cannot be ignored. It not only ruined the meal but also made me question how the kitchen is being maintained. I hope the management takes immediate action to improve hygiene and ensure this does not happen to anyone else. Customers trust you with their health — don’t take it lightly. Not recommended unless they take visible corrective steps.

This place is clean and you will see many non-Indian tourists. Large menu. The food was good but expensive. My wife's fried shrimp was a generous portion while my Lamb Josh Rogan was rather small. Good choices for alcoholic beverages. The service was good but a little pushy. As others have mentioned, there is a 10% service charge added to the bill so we didn't leave an additional tip. I hope that 10% went to the employees.

Gobindgarh Fort, a historic fortress dating back to the 17th century, is a significant part of Amritsar's heritage. Spanning across 43 acres, this fort offers visitors an immersive experience through infotainment shows such as light and sound displays, a museum showcasing its history, and exhibitions. The fort also hosts cultural performances including bhangra and gatka shows.
Visiting Gobindgarh Fort was an incredible experience — a fascinating blend of history, heritage, and modern technology. The 7D show was absolutely thrilling, bringing to life the glorious era of Maharaja Ranjit Singh in a way that leaves you spellbound. The museum, live performances, and cultural exhibits beautifully showcase the rich legacy of Punjab — from its bravery and tradition to its music and art. Every corner of the fort tells a story, making it an experience you’ll never forget. A perfect destination for those who want to feel connected to Punjab’s pride, culture, and spirit — all in one place. Truly, Gobindgarh Fort is where the past meets the present in the most inspiring way! 🇮🇳❤️

To be honest I was quite disappointed with the whole experience. The ticket prices are little high for what they offer. The Bhangra troupe was excellent. Apart from that, everything else was sub par I would say. Especially the hyped 7DX show. I have seen way more immersive and better shows in theme parks. Overall I would say, if you have the time and money to spend and really really want to explore something new, then only visit the place.

A fort of historical significance, but suffers low maintenance and inadequate patronage. There is a Pagdi museum, good Bhangra performance and a 7D movie show on Maharaja Ranjit Singh which would be liked by the Children (different going that the glitches in movie visuals have gotten fixed by now). Tickets cost about 350 per adult and it is recommended to visit in the evening. A battery cart (chargeable) takes visitors from the ticket counter to fort location, which is about a 500m walk otherwise. Though there are eateries, I could not venture to try them.

Durgiana Mandir, also known as the Lakshmi Narayan Temple or Sitla Mandir, is a prominent Hindu temple located in Amritsar, Punjab, India. While it is a significant pilgrimage site for Hindus, its architecture is famously reminiscent of the Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib), the holiest Sikh shrine also in Amritsar. History and Significance Ancient Origins: The site of the Durgiana Temple is believed to have a history dating back to the 16th century. According to local legend, it is a sacred ground visited by Lord Rama during the Ashwamedha Yagya, and the place where his sons, Luv and Kush, tied his horse. King Ishvaku, a descendant of the Sun God, is also said to have performed rituals here. Modern Reconstruction: The temple as it stands today was rebuilt in 1921 under the guidance of Guru Harsai Mal Kapoor. Its foundation stone was laid by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya in 1924. The reconstruction was undertaken to create a prominent Hindu place of worship with an architectural style that mirrored the city's iconic Golden Temple. Deities: The temple is primarily dedicated to Goddess Durga, but it also has shrines for other deities, including Lakshmi and Vishnu. The complex is also home to other temples, such as the Bada Hanuman Mandir and a 700-year-old Shitla Mata temple. Architecture The most striking feature of the Durgiana Mandir is its architectural resemblance to the Golden Temple. Location: Like the Golden Temple, it is built in the middle of a sacred lake, or sarovar. A marble bridge connects the main temple to the mainland. Design: The temple's domes and canopies are similar to those of the Golden Temple. The central dome is gilded, and the temple features extensive use of marble Exquisite Details: The temple is known for its grand entrance, the Darshni Deori, which has a massive silver door that is 12x12 feet. The doors are intricately designed with carvings of Hindu deities. The temple also has a rich collection of Hindu scriptures. Visiting Information Timings: The temple is generally open to visitors from early morning to late evening, typically from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. It's best to check the official website for specific Aarti timings, which may vary. Attire and Etiquette: Visitors are expected to dress modestly, covering their shoulders and knees. As with most places of worship in India, you are required to remove your footwear before entering the temple premises. Festivals: Major Hindu festivals like Dussehra, Janmashtami, Rama Navami, and Diwali are celebrated with great devotion at the temple. Location: The Durgiana Temple is conveniently located near the Amritsar railway station and is easily accessible from other parts of the city.

If you are in Amritsar and not been to Durgiana Temple made of Oure Gold then you have missed or wasted your visit. One of the oldest temples of Punjab region, beautiful and has a captivating Aura. Very well connected by road with big Parking facility. One can spend time here meditate near its sarovar looking at beautiful idols of Lord Shiva or Vishnu. This is also a Golden Temple which believers must visit if they are in Amritsar.

Lal Devi Mandir in Amritsar is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Lal Devi, known for its vibrant atmosphere and spiritual significance. This temple is often compared to the Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu due to its cave-like pathways, narrow tunnels, and sacred water pools, which devotees pass through as part of their religious journey. Located in the Rani Ka Bagh area of Amritsar, the temple attracts thousands of visitors seeking blessings, particularly women hoping to conceive, as the deity is believed to grant fertility. The walls and ceilings are adorned with intricate mirror work and colorful murals depicting Hindu deities, creating a mesmerizing visual experience. Devotees walk barefoot through winding passages, climb small staircases, and pass through symbolic cave-like structures before reaching the main sanctum, where they offer prayers and seek divine intervention. The temple is not only a place of worship but also a symbol of faith, devotion, and mysticism, drawing pilgrims from across India. Many believe that prayers offered here bring prosperity, health, and happiness. The peaceful ambiance, coupled with the temple’s unique architectural style, makes it a must-visit spiritual site in Amritsar. Whether for religious faith or architectural admiration, Lal Devi Mandir leaves a lasting impression on visitors.

It is a holy shrine place situated at model town amritsar. It is named after Mata Lal Devi ji. People visit this place as they seek a child from Mata Lal Devi ji. Lal in punjabi means child. Temple is built beautifully specially the Mata Vaishno Devi part. One part of this temple is purely dedicated to Mata Vaishno Devi. It has caves, stairs and narrow ridges. It is believed that those who have wished to visit Mata Vaishno Devi temple, but could not visit due to some reasons. They can visit this temple and complete their wish. Although not on tourist's wishlist but this temple is a hidden gem of Amritsar and a must visit place.

Akal Takht Sahib, also known as Akal Bunga, is a significant religious site for Sikhs. Established in 1606, it is one of the five takhts in Sikhism and serves as a place for seeking justice. Situated next to the Golden Temple in Amritsar, it houses ancient Sikh scriptures and books. There is no entry fee to visit this sacred place, which is open from 5 AM to 10 PM daily.
The first and the most important t The first and the most important takht was established by Guru Hargobind in 1609: Akal Takht (the Throne of the Timeless God), located just opposite the gate of Harmandir Sahib (The Golden Temple), in Amritsar. While the Harmandir Sahib, or Golden Temple, represents Sikh spiritual guidance, the Akal Takht symbolizes the dispensing of justice and temporal activity. It is the highest seat of temporal authority of the Khalsa and the seat of the Sikh religion's earthly authority. There, the Guru held his court and decided matters of military strategy and political policy. Later on, the Sikh Nation (Sarbat Khalsa) took decisions here on matters of peace and war and settled disputes between the various Sikh groups. Jarnailsinh Bhindranwale occupied it in 1984. To make Akaltakht free from Jarnailsinh Bhindranwale and his followers, Indian Army attacked on them. This was damaged and rebuilt.

The overall grounds with Harmindir Sahib (Golden Temple) showcased in the middle. It is hard to even describe the STUNNING BEAUTY of the grounds. This the cultural/religious center of Sikhism and you will see and learn everything you would ever want to know about the culture here. We used Roobaroo walls to arrange our tour of Amritsar and this was the crown jewel of the visit. It is truly BREATHTAKING. Everywhere you look you will see the architectural detail that will amaze. AND YOU CAN ALSO SERVE AS WELL BY BOTH PAYING FOR FOOD DONATED AND PROVIDING YOUR LABOR IN THE KITCHEN AS THEY SERVE THE DESTITUTE. DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY YOU WILL GAIN THE TRUE SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE. Definitely go in early-mis evening so you see the full visual grandeur as darkness sets in and you see the illumination the grounds!! A TRULY ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE!

Sri Akal Takht Sahib was built by Guru Hargobind Sahib with the help of Baba Buddha Ji and Bhai Gurdas Ji. The nine feet tall concrete slab was revealed by Guru Hargobind on June 15, 1606, when he wore two swords, the Miri and the Piri, which indicate his temporal and religious authority, respectively. Every year on July 2 the Sikh community across the globe honours the establishment of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. It is one of five takhts (seats) of the Sikhs which is considered to be the first and most important Takht situated in Amritsar. Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib, the sixth Guru of the religion, laid the foundation of this platform inside the Golden Temple complex🙏

A Symbol of Sikh Courage, Justice, and Spiritual Authority Akal Takht Sahib, located within the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar, is not just a religious site — it is the highest seat of temporal authority in Sikhism. Standing directly opposite the Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), it beautifully represents the balance between spiritual devotion and worldly responsibility. The atmosphere is powerful and humbling. You can truly feel the strength, dignity, and sacrifice associated with Sikh history and values. The architecture is majestic, and the energy of the place fills you with pride and peace at the same time. Visiting Akal Takht Sahib is a deeply moving experience. It reminds you of the courage of the Gurus and the resilience of the Sikh community. A must-visit for anyone coming to Amritsar — whether spiritual, curious, or simply seeking inspiration. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh 🙏

Bhai Kulwant Singh Kulchian Wale is a decades-old eatery known for serving classic Punjabi cuisine, particularly its famous Amritsari kulchas. Located near the Golden Temple in Amritsar, this iconic joint has been satisfying locals and tourists alike for over 50 years. The delicious kulchas, served with chole and pickle, have garnered praise from food enthusiasts and tour managers. The affordability of the breakfast options adds to the appeal of this establishment.
Amazing Kulchas served hot and fresh. Limited seating but the service is quick. They have different kind of Kulchas. This place is really popular and expect to wait few minutes for your turn. We went here for breakfast and it was really good. Very good polite staff and the prices are very reasonable. Very good experience.

⭐⭐⭐ A Trusted Name for a Quick Kulcha Fix 1. Legacy & Pricing: Located near the iconic Golden Temple, Bhai Kulwant Singh Kulchian Waale has been around for years — and it clearly shows in their loyal customer base and steady footfall. It’s one of those places where you get value for money, with kulchas priced very reasonably, especially considering the location. 2. Food Experience: We tried their Aloo Kulcha and Gobi Kulcha, both served with a basic chana sabzi, onion salad, and a generous dollop of butter on top. The flavors are decent and satisfying — nothing overly fancy, but definitely good enough for a quick, fulfilling meal. 3. Extras: If you’re in the mood for a complete Punjabi treat, you can also add a glass of lassi for ₹60. Thick, sweet, and refreshing — it pairs well with the kulchas. Final Thoughts: It’s a place worth visiting once — especially if you’re looking for a budget-friendly meal with local flavors. While it may not be the best kulcha in town, it definitely holds its own with its legacy, affordability, and consistent taste over the years.

This place is located about a 5-minute walk from the Golden Temple, tucked away in the narrow lanes of Katra Ahluwalia. It’s a small, popular eatery that usually closes after lunchtime, so make sure to check the timings before visiting. The menu is limited, but everything they serve is fresh and flavorful. Their Aloo Kulcha, Paneer Kulcha, and Mixed Kulcha are all worth trying — served hot with butter and chutney, giving that authentic Amritsari taste. They also serve good lassis, which perfectly complement the meal. That said, the place could be more hygienic, and there’s almost always a waiting line, so be prepared for a bit of a wait. Overall, a great spot for authentic Amritsari kulchas and lassi, as long as you’re fine with the basic setup and bustling atmosphere.

I had breakfast there. This is very near to golden temple. They serve types of kulchas. I tried paneer kulcha, aloo kulcha and mix kulcha , all were delicious. I highly recommend this place if you're in Amritsar.

We arrived in the morning, a group of five, which included two of my dormitory mates from Australia. We were all eager to dive into some authentic flavors! We ordered five plates of Kulcha, sampling a wonderful variety: Mix Kulcha, Paneer Kulcha, Gobi Kulcha, and Aloo Kulcha, along with hot tea. Every single Kulcha was absolutely delicious and perfectly spiced! I highly recommend the Paneer Kulcha and the Mix Kulcha—they were definite standouts. The tea was also a comforting, excellent accompaniment to the meal. The only minor hiccup in an otherwise perfect morning was that the establishment only accepted cash; unfortunately, they couldn't take UPI payments. Overall, it was a truly wonderful and memorable experience—a great shared moment over local street food, even for my mates who were just sharing a dorm!

Loved the Kulchas here, you can get different types of Kulcha like Aloo Pyaz, Paneer, Gobhi, Mix. My go to Kulcha is Aloo Pyaz. Cholle are not too spicy which is great. Service is quick and you can ask for extra Cholle or Chutney too. Dining area is slightly smaller, can accommodate maximum 10-12 people. You can also have tea which is quite good.
Harshdeep S — Google review
I get the hype coz the kulchas are dense, but maybe it’s just me that I found it too much. Too much khada masala. I could easily pick out 50 whole dhaniya and 5-10 kali mirch from just two kulchas. It’s a lot for my liking. May be it is what they offer and people like but was not my taste. Chhole were good. The chutney was too good. I’m still salivating for the chutney. Staff is helpful. The sir at the front desk is sweet. If they can reduce the khada garam masala it’ll be amazing.

Ashok Kulche Wala is a popular open roadside stall known for serving mouthwatering crispy kulchas. The Mixed Kulcha and Aloo Kulcha are particularly heavenly, with a perfect balance of softness inside and buttery crispiness outside. Despite the high waiting times, the quality and taste of the kulchas make it worth it. The seating area may be limited, but the delicious kulchas more than make up for it.
The kulchas were amazing. It was super crispy and tasty. Along with kulche they serve chole and onions dipped in a imli chutney. Everything together tasted awesome. Another note, it’s a small dhaba and you might need to wait for 20-25 min after placing the order as they prepare the kulcha fresh. Amazing experience and very much recommended. Please visit when you are in Amritsar. We ordered mix, gobhi and paneer kulcha and those were good in taste. You can try there other dishes as well!

I am disappointed to report that my second visit to Ashok Mathi Kulcha was a far cry from the exceptional experience I had during my first visit. Back then, they operated from a rehri, and their mathi (crispy) kulcha was truly delicious. Fast forward to today, and they've shifted to a nearby shop. I was excited to indulge in their signature dish once again, but unfortunately, it failed to impress. The mathi kulcha I ordered was nothing special – the kulcha itself, the filling, and the accompanying chane (chickpeas) were all strictly average. What's more disappointing is that this type of kulcha is readily available at many shops in Amritsar, and Ashok Mathi Kulcha's version didn't stand out in any way. The quality seems to have taken a hit since their relocation, and I couldn't help but feel underwhelmed. Perhaps they were having an off day, but based on this experience, I can only give them 2 stars. If you're craving authentic Amritsari kulchas, you might want to explore other options.

The place is good and the food was awesome. I was on a tour to Amritsar and someone recommended this place and it was really great. They make your kulcha once you give your order. Which is very great, not some ready to eat food. And they serve it hot, with chole and chutney. Loved. Recommended. Cheers.

If you want to experience the best kulchas, then this place should be at the top of your list. As someone from Amritsar, I can confidently say that the crunchy kulchas here are unbeatable. You have to try the mix kulcha with butter on top - it's simply delicious. It's no surprise that this place is a Sunday feast for many families in Amritsar. However, the limited seating area and cramped parking can be a hassle. Despite that, I highly recommend this place for its mouth-watering kulchas. Don't miss it!

I was in Amritsar for 2 weeks and visited the place 3 times. Took guests from the US too. The small matthi kulchas are awesome. Just make sure to park your car on the main road and walk to the kulcha place. A Thums Up with the Kulcha is a must. On weekends expect delay of 45 to 90 min to get your kulchas so patience is a must.

Recently tried Ashok Mathii Kulcha in Amritsar, and let me tell you, their kulchas are crispy like mathii and packed with flavor. They were perfect in every sense! The chole and imli ki chutney with pyaz were soooo good. Just a heads up, the kulchas usually sell out by 2 PM, so make sure to visit on time. It's a hidden gem with a nice overall vibe, and they even have seating available. Enjoy your visit! 😋👍

Nestled in the bustling heart of Amritsar, R K Food Plaza is a charming eatery located inside a grocery store, just opposite Amrit Talkies. This delightful spot serves up an array of traditional dishes including flavorful curries, comforting noodles, and even pizza! The menu features local favorites like Dal Makhani and Cheese Naan alongside their renowned Special Thali.
RK Foods, Amritsar I recently visited RK Foods in the main market of Amritsar, and it was an amazing experience! Being my first time trying Amritsari food, I couldn’t have asked for a better place. The local shop owner highly recommended it, and it truly lived up to the expectations. I tried the RK Foods Special Thali along with a Kulcha Plate, and everything was so delicious! The total cost was just ₹330, which is unbelievably reasonable for such good quality food. The ambience is simple and basic, but the food quality more than makes up for it. If you’re looking for authentic Amritsari flavors at budget-friendly prices, this is the place to go! Pros: • 🍛 Authentic Amritsari Food: Delicious, flavorful, and made to perfection! • 💰 Affordable: Both the thali and kulcha for ₹330 – unbeatable price! • 🏠 Great Location: Situated in the heart of the main market, easy to find. • 🤝 Friendly Recommendation: Even locals swear by their food quality. The restaurant is located very close to the Golden Temple, which makes it extremely convenient and accessible for visitors. Whether you are walking from the temple area or arriving by vehicle, reaching the place is quick and hassle-free. This easily becomes a good option for anyone looking for affordable food nearby without having to travel too far. When it comes to food, the quality is definitely impressive for the price charged. It feels like a value-for-money spot where you can try a good variety of items without worrying too much about the cost. I tried the chap and the veg chowmein, and both were flavorful, well-prepared, and satisfying. Rajma chawal, however, felt just average and could be improved. The ice creams were okay, nothing extraordinary, but enough to finish the meal on a sweet note. The service here is functional but reminded me of places near colleges or schools, where efficiency is present but not very polished. Staff seemed casual in their approach, which might not suit those looking for refined service, but it works fine in such a budget-friendly setting. Overall, this is a very cost-effective dining choice. Good location, tasty food at the right price, and convenient for daily or casual eating.

Bansal Sweets is a popular spot for breakfast or brunch, known for its delicious sweets and fluffy poori channe made with pure desi ghee. Despite its unassuming appearance, the place offers proper seating and parking. The shop has been well-maintained over the years and now boasts new infrastructure and air conditioning.
The best Punjabi breakfast in the city and possibly the region, Period. Bansal excels in all things that mean Punjabi breakfast - Aloo-puri, Cholle-Bhature, Chilled Milk. Each item ordered was the best I’ve had. All preparations are made with Clarified Butter/ Desi Ghee. A plate is 2 bedmi puris (light-lentil-and-spice-mix-stuffed, whole wheat dough) or 2 Bhaturas (fermented refined flour dough). Recommend anyone who’s visiting Amritsar to ditch their hotel breakfast and enjoy this experience. Breakfast for 4 is typically under INR 1200 or about USD 15!

Very poor packaging. Sweets of the place are good because of which the brand name is alive. The staff didn’t explain to us properly about the difference in sweets and namkeen and their names. It was our first visit to Punjab and we needed guidance. The packaging is very poor. THE MATHRI BOXES SPILT OPEN IN MY SUITCASE ruining the clothes as well as the mathri. Moreover, the mathri is very thick. I needed to go to another sweet shop to get freshly made mathri for taking to Gujarat. Would recommend going to a small halwai instead of these giants charging exorbitantly for such quality of packaging and taste.

Bansal Sweets is widely appreciated for its authentic North Indian mithai (sweets), especially made in pure desi ghee. Many customers find its classics — motichoor ladoo, patisa, pinni — excellent in taste. However, there are also recurring concerns around price, service, and occasional quality lapses. On balance, for sweet lovers, Bansal delivers quite well, though it might not always live up to its full reputation.

Neeraj L — Google review
Excellent place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Moderate Price. Neat and clean . Very spacious sitting place. Wide range of Bakery items and sweets . One must have porti subzi in breakfast.
