Jallianwala Bagh is a public garden in Amritsar, India, known for its memorial to the tragic massacre of 13 April 1919. The garden features an eternal flame-shaped memorial and serves as a significant historical site. It is part of the Heritage Mile along with the Golden Temple and the Partition Museum.
Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar is a place which I always wanted to visit. More than a tourist destination; it's a very historical place historical which has left a lasting impression on every Indian. Having heard so much of the incident on 1919 when the British indiscriminately fired on and killed and wounded many Indians, visiting Jallianwala Bagh was a deeply moving and emotional experience for us. The moment you walk in, as you have heard a lot of on the event, you can feel the weight of history all around you. They have preserved bullet marks on the walls and the well with a tragic story behind it serve as powerful reminders of the sacrifices made during India's freedom struggle. Government has done some renovation also. A good step. The place brings in a strong sense of patriotism and gratitude. It is located at a walking distance near the revered Golden Temple, and a must see of any trip to Amritsar, offering a stark reminder of India's struggle for independence. A must visit historical monument for all Indians. There are a lot of informative displays and a garden area for reflection. The place was very crowded as we went on a weekend.

Visiting Jallianwala Bagh was a deeply emotional experience. The moment I entered, I could feel the weight of history in the air. The bullet marks on the walls and the Martyrs’ Well speak volumes about the pain and courage of those who stood here a century ago.The place is beautifully maintained and filled with stories that remind us what freedom truly cost. The eternal flame and memorial create a peaceful yet powerful atmosphere that leaves you silent and reflective. It’s not just a tourist spot — it’s a reminder of bravery, sacrifice, and the resilience of our nation. Every Indian should visit at least once.

Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar is not just a tourist destination — it’s a sacred ground of history and sacrifice that every Indian carries in their heart. I had always wanted to visit this place, and being here was a deeply emotional and humbling experience. Having read and heard about the tragic incident of 1919, when innocent Indians were mercilessly fired upon by British troops, stepping inside the Bagh fills you with a powerful sense of grief and respect. You can almost feel the weight of history in the air. The preserved bullet marks on the walls and the Martyrs’ Well stand as silent yet powerful reminders of the immense courage and suffering of those who laid down their lives for our freedom. The recent renovations by the government have enhanced the site while maintaining its historical essence — a thoughtful step indeed. Located just a short walk from the Golden Temple, this memorial is an essential part of any visit to Amritsar. The informative displays, peaceful garden areas, and solemn atmosphere make it a place for reflection and gratitude. It was quite crowded when we visited over the weekend, but that only shows how strongly this place continues to touch the hearts of people. A must-visit historical monument for every Indian — one that rekindles patriotism, pride, and deep respect for our nation’s freedom fighters. 🇮🇳❤️
Yaduveer S — Google review
Jallianwala Bagh is one of the most historic places in India, carrying the painful memory of the tragic massacre of 1919. Visiting this site is both an emotional and educational experience, as it reminds us of the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle. The preserved walls with bullet marks and the memorial serve as powerful symbols of the disaster that should never be forgotten. The site is maintained well and provides proper historical explanations through displays and plaques, making it easier for visitors to understand the events that unfolded here. One of the best things about Jallianwala Bagh is that there is no entry fee, so anyone can walk in and pay their respects. It is located very close to the Golden Temple, which makes it convenient to cover both in the same trip. The garden closes at 5 p.m., so visiting early is recommended not only to avoid the harsh sun but also to have ample time to explore peacefully. Be cautious, though, as there are occasional pickpocketing incidents reported around the area, and police presence is limited. On the brighter side, the place is surrounded by plenty of restaurants. Entry and exit are through different gates, ensuring smooth movement of visitors.
Aniruth G — Google review
The place is well maintained and there’s no entry fee. You can easily spend a couple of hours exploring around and understanding the history connected to this site. As you walk through, you’ll come across many untold stories. some displayed, some narrated by locals or guides. A must-visit place in Amritsar to truly feel a part of India’s past.
Santhosh B — Google review
This place really gives goosebumps. Jallianwala Bagh is a deeply emotional and historic place that reminds us of the sacrifices made during India’s struggle for freedom. The preserved bullet marks and the well-maintained memorial evoke strong feelings of respect and sadness. The museum inside provides valuable insight into the tragic events of 1919. It’s not just a tourist spot — it’s a place for reflection and gratitude. A must-visit for anyone coming to Amritsar.
M S — Google review
Jallianwala Bagh is not a tourist attraction—it is a sacred site of memory and resistance. Its haunting past continues to speak loudly in today’s India, reminding visitors of the price paid for the freedoms we now enjoy. It is a place every Indian—and indeed, every visitor to India—should experience. It stirs the conscience, educates the mind, and moves the soul.
Arun S — Google review
Visiting Jallianwala Bagh was a very emotional experience. This place is a powerful reminder of India’s fight for freedom, where many innocent people lost their lives in the 1919 massacre. Walking through the garden, seeing the bullet-marked walls, and standing near the well where people tried to escape filled me with respect and sadness for the martyrs. But I was disappointed with some changes. The original single entry and exit point, which was a big part of the tragedy’s history, has been changed to separate entry and exit points. This takes away the true historical feel, as the narrow passage was important to what happened that day. Keeping the original layout would help visitors feel the history better. Also, the Indian Oil branding right above the eternal flame felt very wrong. This flame is meant to honor the martyrs, and a commercial logo doesn’t belong there. Something patriotic like "Jai Hind" would be much better for such a sacred place. Jallianwala Bagh should stay free from advertisements to keep its respect and purpose. Overall, Jallianwala Bagh is a must-visit to understand India’s history and honor those who died for freedom. I hope it can be preserved in its original form without commercial elements. Let this place remain a true tribute to our martyrs and their sacrifice for our country.

Gobindgarh Fort, a historic fortress dating back to the 17th century, is a significant part of Amritsar's heritage. Spanning across 43 acres, this fort offers visitors an immersive experience through infotainment shows such as light and sound displays, a museum showcasing its history, and exhibitions. The fort also hosts cultural performances including bhangra and gatka shows.
One of the best place to visit while you’re in Amritsar; apart from Golden Temple, Jalianwala, etc. Very well maintained and clean, peaceful, good management. You have to buy tickets first from a counter which is on the opposite side of the road; just a little bit ahead. Do ask them about all the tickets because there are different tickets and different things are covered under each one. The 7D show was very overwhelming for me as I’m a history buff and I admire Sher-E-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh a lot. Punjabi folk dance- Bhangra was also very good and energetic. There are 2-3 food joints inside the fort. Do visit while you’re in Amritsar!!
RUTVIK D — Google review
To be honest I was quite disappointed with the whole experience. The ticket prices are little high for what they offer. The Bhangra troupe was excellent. Apart from that, everything else was sub par I would say. Especially the hyped 7DX show. I have seen way more immersive and better shows in theme parks. Overall I would say, if you have the time and money to spend and really really want to explore something new, then only visit the place.
Aromal C — Google review
The fort is quite good - clean, maintained. They have some activities which can take some time (short movie, a pmpagdi/turban museum & some activities lined through +food & shopping).. Overall ~2 hours (minimum) to peacefully roam around the place.
Smita N — Google review
Visiting Gobindgarh Fort was an incredible experience — a fascinating blend of history, heritage, and modern technology. The 7D show was absolutely thrilling, bringing to life the glorious era of Maharaja Ranjit Singh in a way that leaves you spellbound. The museum, live performances, and cultural exhibits beautifully showcase the rich legacy of Punjab — from its bravery and tradition to its music and art. Every corner of the fort tells a story, making it an experience you’ll never forget. A perfect destination for those who want to feel connected to Punjab’s pride, culture, and spirit — all in one place. Truly, Gobindgarh Fort is where the past meets the present in the most inspiring way! 🇮🇳❤️

Visiting Gobindgarh Fort was an exciting blend of history and technology. The 7D show brought the glorious past of Maharaja Ranjit Singh to life in a thrilling way. The museum, live performances, and cultural exhibits made the experience unforgettable. A perfect mix of heritage, entertainment, and pride in Punjab’s rich legacy
KAMAL A — Google review
A fort of historical significance, but suffers low maintenance and inadequate patronage. There is a Pagdi museum, good Bhangra performance and a 7D movie show on Maharaja Ranjit Singh which would be liked by the Children (different going that the glitches in movie visuals have gotten fixed by now). Tickets cost about 350 per adult and it is recommended to visit in the evening. A battery cart (chargeable) takes visitors from the ticket counter to fort location, which is about a 500m walk otherwise. Though there are eateries, I could not venture to try them.
Kranti — Google review
We really enjoyed visiting this fort. But we were surprised for entrance fee for foreigners 700 INR! Including is 20 min.long 7D movie about Maharaja. It’s very overpriced. At least we made nice photos there.

A Deeply Moving Experience. The Partition Museum offers a powerful and emotional journey through one of the most significant and tragic chapters of Indian history. Through personal stories, artifacts, and visuals, it brings to life the pain, resilience, and human spirit of 1947. A must-visit for anyone seeking to understand the true impact of the Partition.
Avantika N — Google review
The Partition Museum, located near Town Hall in Amritsar, is the world’s first museum dedicated to the memory of India’s Partition of 1947. It beautifully yet painfully captures the human stories, struggles, and resilience of millions who experienced one of the largest mass migrations in history. ✔️ Highlights: • Personal stories, letters, photographs, and belongings of refugees • Audio-visual exhibits narrating real-life experiences of Partition • Art installations and maps showing migration routes and refugee camps • Peace Wall with messages of hope and unity • Well-curated galleries that take you on a chronological journey of events before, during, and after Partition ⚠️ Things to keep in mind: • The atmosphere is emotional and heavy—be prepared for a moving experience • Allow 1.5–2 hours to explore fully • Photography is restricted in certain sections • Closed on Mondays—check timings before visiting ⭐ Overall: A powerful and emotional museum that makes history come alive through real human experiences. Visiting the Partition Museum is not just educational, but also deeply moving, reminding us of the value of peace and unity.

I recently visited the Partition Museum in Amritsar, and I really liked it. The museum is very informative and gives a deep insight into the history and emotions of the Partition of 1947. The displays, personal stories, and photographs are very moving and beautifully presented. It gives deep sense of emotions when we learn the sacrifices of the innocent made because of few people's greed, stubbornness and unplanned activity. Overall, it’s a must-visit place.

Great place to learn about partition, political scenario that led to it and its aftermath. There is lot of reading needed, wish there was more audio visual treatment. If you have time, do get an audio guide available at rs 100.

This partition museum is about how the actual partition happened between India and Pakistan who fought together for independence but demanded different countries for different religions The Partition Museum is a public museum located in the town hall of Amritsar, Punjab, India.[1] The museum aims to become the central repository of stories, materials, and documents related to the post-partition riots that followed the division of British India into two independent dominions: India and Pakistan. The museum also focuses on the history of the “anti-colonial movement, the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, the Komagata Maru incident, the All India Muslim League and the Indian National Congress, and the journey of resilience and recuperation for women”.The building wherein the museum is located in Amritsar was also “once the British headquarters and a jail”. The museum was inaugurated on 25 August 2017. Punjab In 1947, British India was divided into India and Pakistan. The partition lines, drawn on a map by the British lawyer Cyril Radcliffe, divided the province of Punjab and Bengal into two parts on the basis of religion. As a result, millions of people found themselves on the wrong side of the border overnight. According to various estimates, more than 800,000 Muslims, Hindus, and Sikhs were killed in the riots that followed the partition between August 1947 to January 1948. Additionally, more than 1,400,000 people became refugees.

The Partition Museum, located in Amritsar, Punjab, is a unique and deeply moving institution dedicated to the memory of the 1947 Partition of India. It's the first of its kind in the world, serving as a powerful memorial and a central repository for the stories, artifacts, and documents from that tumultuous period. A "People's Museum" The museum's core mission is to tell the human stories of the Partition. Instead of focusing solely on political events, it highlights the experiences of the millions of people who were displaced, lost their homes, and endured immense suffering. The museum's collection is built largely on oral histories and personal artifacts donated by survivors and their families—things like clothes, utensils, and letters that people carried with them as they fled their homes. Location and Exhibits The museum is housed in the historic Town Hall building in Amritsar, a fitting location given the city's close proximity to the India-Pakistan border and its central role in the events of 1947. The exhibits are arranged chronologically, taking visitors through the events that led up to the Partition, the mass migration and violence that followed, and the subsequent efforts of rehabilitation and resettlement. Through photographs, videos, audio recordings, and personal belongings, the museum creates a powerful and often heartbreaking narrative. Why It's Important The Partition was one of the largest mass migrations in human history, with millions of people displaced and an estimated one to two million killed. For decades, there was no dedicated memorial or museum to commemorate this event. The Partition Museum fills this void, ensuring that the stories of the survivors and the legacy of this historical event are not forgotten. It serves as a reminder of the human cost of political decisions and the resilience of those who rebuilt their lives after such a profound upheaval. Durgiana Mandir, also known as the Lakshmi Narayan Temple or Sitla Mandir, is a prominent Hindu temple located in Amritsar, Punjab, India. While it is a significant pilgrimage site for Hindus, its architecture is famously reminiscent of the Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib), the holiest Sikh shrine also in Amritsar. History and Significance Ancient Origins: The site of the Durgiana Temple is believed to have a history dating back to the 16th century. According to local legend, it is a sacred ground visited by Lord Rama during the Ashwamedha Yagya, and the place where his sons, Luv and Kush, tied his horse. King Ishvaku, a descendant of the Sun God, is also said to have performed rituals here. Modern Reconstruction: The temple as it stands today was rebuilt in 1921 under the guidance of Guru Harsai Mal Kapoor. Its foundation stone was laid by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya in 1924. The reconstruction was undertaken to create a prominent Hindu place of worship with an architectural style that mirrored the city's iconic Golden Temple. Deities: The temple is primarily dedicated to Goddess Durga, but it also has shrines for other deities, including Lakshmi and Vishnu. The complex is also home to other temples, such as the Bada Hanuman Mandir and a 700-year-old Shitla Mata temple. Architecture The most striking feature of the Durgiana Mandir is its architectural resemblance to the Golden Temple. Location: Like the Golden Temple, it is built in the middle of a sacred lake, or sarovar. A marble bridge connects the main temple to the mainland. Design: The temple's domes and canopies are similar to those of the Golden Temple. The central dome is gilded, and the temple features extensive use of marble Exquisite Details: The temple is known for its grand entrance, the Darshni Deori, which has a massive silver door that is 12x12 feet. The doors are intricately designed with carvings of Hindu deities. The temple also has a rich collection of Hindu scriptures. Visiting Information Timings: The temple is generally open to visitors from early morning to late evening, typically from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. It's best to check the official website for specific Aarti timings, which may vary. Attire and Etiquette: Visitors are expected to dress modestly, covering their shoulders and knees. As with most places of worship in India, you are required to remove your footwear before entering the temple premises. Festivals: Major Hindu festivals like Dussehra, Janmashtami, Rama Navami, and Diwali are celebrated with great devotion at the temple. Location: The Durgiana Temple is conveniently located near the Amritsar railway station and is easily accessible from other parts of the city.

Akal Takht Sahib, also known as Akal Bunga, is a significant religious site for Sikhs. Established in 1606, it is one of the five takhts in Sikhism and serves as a place for seeking justice. Situated next to the Golden Temple in Amritsar, it houses ancient Sikh scriptures and books. There is no entry fee to visit this sacred place, which is open from 5 AM to 10 PM daily.
The first and the most important t The first and the most important takht was established by Guru Hargobind in 1609: Akal Takht (the Throne of the Timeless God), located just opposite the gate of Harmandir Sahib (The Golden Temple), in Amritsar. While the Harmandir Sahib, or Golden Temple, represents Sikh spiritual guidance, the Akal Takht symbolizes the dispensing of justice and temporal activity. It is the highest seat of temporal authority of the Khalsa and the seat of the Sikh religion's earthly authority. There, the Guru held his court and decided matters of military strategy and political policy. Later on, the Sikh Nation (Sarbat Khalsa) took decisions here on matters of peace and war and settled disputes between the various Sikh groups. Jarnailsinh Bhindranwale occupied it in 1984. To make Akaltakht free from Jarnailsinh Bhindranwale and his followers, Indian Army attacked on them. This was damaged and rebuilt.

The overall grounds with Harmindir Sahib (Golden Temple) showcased in the middle. It is hard to even describe the STUNNING BEAUTY of the grounds. This the cultural/religious center of Sikhism and you will see and learn everything you would ever want to know about the culture here. We used Roobaroo walls to arrange our tour of Amritsar and this was the crown jewel of the visit. It is truly BREATHTAKING. Everywhere you look you will see the architectural detail that will amaze. AND YOU CAN ALSO SERVE AS WELL BY BOTH PAYING FOR FOOD DONATED AND PROVIDING YOUR LABOR IN THE KITCHEN AS THEY SERVE THE DESTITUTE. DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY YOU WILL GAIN THE TRUE SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE. Definitely go in early-mis evening so you see the full visual grandeur as darkness sets in and you see the illumination the grounds!! A TRULY ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE!

Sri Akal Takht Sahib was built by Guru Hargobind Sahib with the help of Baba Buddha Ji and Bhai Gurdas Ji. The nine feet tall concrete slab was revealed by Guru Hargobind on June 15, 1606, when he wore two swords, the Miri and the Piri, which indicate his temporal and religious authority, respectively. Every year on July 2 the Sikh community across the globe honours the establishment of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. It is one of five takhts (seats) of the Sikhs which is considered to be the first and most important Takht situated in Amritsar. Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib, the sixth Guru of the religion, laid the foundation of this platform inside the Golden Temple complex🙏

A Symbol of Sikh Courage, Justice, and Spiritual Authority Akal Takht Sahib, located within the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar, is not just a religious site — it is the highest seat of temporal authority in Sikhism. Standing directly opposite the Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), it beautifully represents the balance between spiritual devotion and worldly responsibility. The atmosphere is powerful and humbling. You can truly feel the strength, dignity, and sacrifice associated with Sikh history and values. The architecture is majestic, and the energy of the place fills you with pride and peace at the same time. Visiting Akal Takht Sahib is a deeply moving experience. It reminds you of the courage of the Gurus and the resilience of the Sikh community. A must-visit for anyone coming to Amritsar — whether spiritual, curious, or simply seeking inspiration. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh 🙏

The Maharaja Ranjit Singh Panorama in Amritsar is a popular tourist spot, surrounded by other attractions like the Amritsar International Cricket Stadium and the Amritsar Club. It's located near various famous localities such as Near Railway Station, Kashmir Avenue, and Bharat Nagar. There are several accommodation options nearby including Hotel Ivory Grand, Mehra Inn, and Hyatt Amritsar.
Situation around lush green park, great place to go for a walk. Clean facility, well lit and spacious. ₹10 entry and you got to remove footwear. Shows the life of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh through paintings and models.
Mridul L — Google review
The entry fees is ₹10 only when you enter the museum hall, you will see a couple of paintings and mini architecture depicting the stories of Maharana Maharaja Ranjit Singh. When you go to the first floor, there is a proper Panna Roma view of the bar. The first floor panorama room is not ventilated as well as there is no air conditioner which makes it very hot during summers and humid during rainy season. I would not recommend anyone to stay there for more than 10 minutes.

A cute little museum in the middle of the city dedicated to the great king Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Entry fee is just ₹10 and you can see all the exhibits in about 30 minutes. The well maintained lawns are a nice place for a family picnic. One weird thing is you are required to take off your shoes before entering the building. I honestly didn’t understand the need for that rule.

This came along my visit to Amritsar. Mind blown by the gurudwara visit the other day I decided to visit other places in the city. Out of the very few places to visit in this city I came across Maharaja Ranjit Singhs Panorama. It's a small place , museum alike well maintained. They charged us rs 10 ticket to get in and we saw the whole history of Raja's life starting from his birth, to his wars and strategic conquers , marriage and eventual death before sitting on the golden thrown. It was a great places, sculptured really well along with noise of horses and war alike setup. Reminded me of how war movies are shot.

Lal Devi Mandir in Amritsar is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Lal Devi, known for its vibrant atmosphere and spiritual significance. This temple is often compared to the Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu due to its cave-like pathways, narrow tunnels, and sacred water pools, which devotees pass through as part of their religious journey. Located in the Rani Ka Bagh area of Amritsar, the temple attracts thousands of visitors seeking blessings, particularly women hoping to conceive, as the deity is believed to grant fertility. The walls and ceilings are adorned with intricate mirror work and colorful murals depicting Hindu deities, creating a mesmerizing visual experience. Devotees walk barefoot through winding passages, climb small staircases, and pass through symbolic cave-like structures before reaching the main sanctum, where they offer prayers and seek divine intervention. The temple is not only a place of worship but also a symbol of faith, devotion, and mysticism, drawing pilgrims from across India. Many believe that prayers offered here bring prosperity, health, and happiness. The peaceful ambiance, coupled with the temple’s unique architectural style, makes it a must-visit spiritual site in Amritsar. It is a holy shrine place situated at model town amritsar. It is named after Mata Lal Devi ji. People visit this place as they seek a child from Mata Lal Devi ji. Lal in punjabi means child. Temple is built beautifully specially the Mata Vaishno Devi part. One part of this temple is purely dedicated to Mata Vaishno Devi. It has caves, stairs and narrow ridges. It is believed that those who have wished to visit Mata Vaishno Devi temple, but could not visit due to some reasons. They can visit this temple and complete their wish. Built in AH 1294 (AD 1877) by a wealthy Kashmiri Muslim merchant named Muhammad Khairuddin, this mosque holds historical significance. Before the Partition of 1947, just as there was a significant Hindu and Sikh population in Lahore, Muslims also made up a considerable portion of Amritsar’s population—nearly 47 per cent, according to the 1941 Census. After the Dogra rule began in the Jammu and Kashmir region, many Kashmiri Muslims, including affluent merchants, migrated to Punjab (including Amritsar) due to increasing corruption under the Dogra rulers. This mosque was built by one such Kashmiri Muslim whose family had migrated to the region during that time. When the infamous Jallianwala Bagh massacre occurred, many Muslims were also part of the gathering and were among those killed in the firing ordered by the British. It is said that following the massacre, several dead bodies were brought to the courtyard of this mosque. In response, the mosque’s Imam, Tooti-e-Hind Shah Ataullah Bukhari, appealed to the people—regardless of their religion, whether Sikh, Hindu, or Muslim—to unite and rise against British rule. In this way, the mosque also played a role in India’s struggle for independence.

When visiting the iconic Golden Temple in Amritsar, don't miss out on a culinary gem just a short stroll away—Bharawan da Dhaba. This beloved eatery has been delighting locals and travelers alike since 1912. Known for its winter specialty, the creamy saag made from fresh mustard leaves is a must-try, especially when paired with hearty corn-flour rotis.
Our family visited Sri Harmandir Sahib Gurudwara during 21 to 23 October 2025 Dipawali holidays Darshan. We stayed at Sri Guru Arian Devji Niwas, near campus. Due to the blessings of God, we took Darshan for 3 consecutive days, in a calm, tranquil, pious, religious atmosphere. We got Langar prasad. The Shri Harmandir Sahib, popularly known as the Golden Temple, is a spiritual and cultural beacon for Sikhs worldwide. Located in Amritsar, Punjab, India, it's a masterpiece of Sikh architecture, blending Indian and Islamic styles. The temple's gleaming gold dome and intricate marble work create a breathtaking sight, especially when illuminated at night. The sacred Amrit Sarovar pool surrounds the temple, symbolizing spiritual growth. As the holiest gurmukhā gurudwārā, it houses the Guru Granth Sahib, Sikhism's holy scripture. The temple's four entrances signify equality and openness, welcoming people from all walks of life.

Visiting Sri Harmandir Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple, was a truly divine and peaceful experience. The moment you step inside, the positive energy of the place surrounds you completely. The sight of the golden structure reflecting on the holy water is absolutely breathtaking, it feels serene and spiritual in every sense. The seva done by volunteers, from helping visitors to preparing and serving food in the langar, is truly inspiring. The langar experience itself is something everyone should have at least once, pure, and full of devotion. The entire temple complex is extremely well-maintained, clean, and beautifully organized despite the huge crowds. The pathway around the sarovar is peaceful for sitting or walking, especially in the early morning or late evening when the lighting makes it look magical. Overall, Sri Harmandir Sahib is not just a religious place but a symbol of peace, equality, and faith. No matter what your background is, you’ll feel a deep sense of spirituality here. A must-visit place that truly touches the heart.

Beautiful, humbling place. There was so much to experience from the Golden temple to the jora service to the langar service to the gold sewa workshop. The museums on-site are also there to serve as a reminder of the resilience that Sikhs have had to have to survive and become a large community. There are many gurudwaras and soravars (lakes) on-site to take amrat as well. To be able to sit under the trees that some of the Gurus had done so was also wonderful. A beautiful place to visit.

The Golden Temple is one of the most peaceful and spiritual places I have ever visited. The beauty of the shimmering temple surrounded by water is breathtaking, especially at night. What truly stands out is the sense of calm, devotion, and equality here—everyone is welcomed with open arms. Historic architecture. Khalsa College in Amritsar, Punjab, is a historic institution renowned for its stunning architecture and cultural heritage. Established in 1892, the college's grand buildings and meticulously maintained grounds reflect its rich legacy, making it a visually captivating and inspiring place. The campus, with its lush greenery and majestic structures, undoubtedly deserves a 7 out of 10 for its aesthetic and historical significance. However, despite its impressive exterior, Khalsa College struggles to deliver a high-quality academic experience. The education level at the institution leaves much to be desired, with outdated curricula and teaching methods that do not meet modern standards. Students often find themselves yearning for more rigorous academic challenges and better learning resources. Consequently, the college scores only a 4 out of 10 in terms of educational quality. In summary, Khalsa College is a jewel in terms of its physical and historical presence, offering an environment rich in heritage and beauty. However, to truly honor its legacy and provide a well-rounded educational experience, significant improvements in academic standards and teaching methods are essential.

Khalsa College in Amritsar, a premier educational institution, is located on Grand Trunk Road. Established in 1892 by leaders of the Singh Sabha Movement, it was envisioned to provide higher education to the Sikh and Punjabi communities. The college's sprawling 300-acre campus and its striking architectural design, created by the renowned architect Ram Singh, make it a historical landmark in itself. The college building is a magnificent example of Indo-Saracenic architecture, beautifully blending traditional Indian and Mughal styles. The main structure, with its large domes, arches, and intricate details, reflects the grandeur and rich cultural heritage of Punjab. This impressive design gives the campus a unique and timeless character, making it a prominent architectural gem in the region. Khalsa College offers a wide range of academic disciplines, with numerous departments covering various fields of study. These include departments in Arts, Sciences, Commerce, and Agriculture, among others. The college is affiliated with Guru Nanak Dev University and has a strong focus on research, with a dedicated Sikh History and Research Centre. Beyond its academic contributions, Khalsa College serves as a symbol of cultural and historical pride. Visited the Ram Tirath Temple — a beautifully maintained complex steeped in mythological history. The golden idol of Sage Valmiki is truly impressive, and the serene sarovar adds to the peaceful atmosphere. While it’s a short drive from Amritsar city, ample parking and clear signage make the visit comfortable. Some parts could use better upkeep (e.g., a few smaller shrines were a little dusty) but overall it’s a very worthwhile spiritual stop. Highly recommended for anyone interested in the Ramayana heritage and looking for a tranquil temple experience near Amritsar.”

It's like a living museum where visitors can immerse themselves in the cultural arts, architecture, and flavors of Punjab. The recreated village features mud huts, cobblestone paths, and lush greenery, providing an authentic rural experience. Guests can participate in hands-on activities such as pottery and Phulkari embroidery led by skilled artisans.

A wonderful showcase of vibrant Punjabi culture and authentic local flavors! The live performances were engaging, and the overall ambiance truly reflected the rich heritage of Punjab. However, it would be great if the management could consider providing an air-conditioned resting area for elderly visitors and families with young children to relax comfortably. Also, while the traditional drink was refreshing, we were expecting lassi as mentioned—but it turned out to be buttermilk. Still, a memorable experience worth visiting!

We visited Sadda Pind on Lohri day this January without realizing most places in Amritsar would be shut — even the Golden Temple had huge crowds. Our auto driver recommended we check out Sadda Pind, and we’re so glad we did! Even though we reached pretty late, the experience was so memorable. A group of aunties were sitting by a bonfire making makki di roti and sarson da saag — we sat with them, chatted, and had one of the coziest meals of our trip. The vibe was so warm and welcoming, even at closing time. We got to explore a few cultural setups, had a full-on tel malish (which was amazing in that freezing weather), and ended the night with a delicious buffet dinner — all-you-can-eat Punjabi food, both veg and non-veg, plus desserts. When we were done, the place was almost shut and we couldn’t find a ride back, but one of the staff kindly helped us get an auto. It was freezing but so much fun. Would definitely recommend visiting for a wholesome and heartwarming experience!

Its a kind of village museum which shows how the houses were built in villages of Punjab. Its a unique concept showcasing villages of Punjab. Also showcases rich and beautiful Punjabi culture. Their are many cultural performances like folk dances, artisan workshop like pottery, weaving and phulkari embroidery. Their are many games for kids, magic show, many photo points. You can enjoy traditional dishes like makke ki roti, sarso ka saag, bajra khichdi. The tickets include food which is based on buffet system, it has good variety in menu. Taste is authentic and all dishes were flavorful. Staff here is very kind, polite, attentive and ever smiling. Overall the property is well maintained and good value for money.

Food is very good,a rich punjabi cuisine. The staff is very polite. They have rooms for accommodation too. But little expensive on that part. I'm not sure if the meals are included. It gives a glimpse of rural life of Punjab in India. Activites are monotonous after a few visits. Good place for children. It's ok to visit one time especially for tourists visiting Attari Wagah border ceremony.

Sadda Pind, Amritsar is like a traditional live Punjabi village in an area of 12 acres., situated about 8 km from the Golden Temple. The are gives us a taste of authentic Punjabi culture, traditions, food, and lifestyle. There is replica of a rural Punjabi village with mud houses, courtyards, wells, and handicrafts and some magic shows etc. The restaurant has the traditional Punjabi thali, with makki di roti, sarson da saag, lassi, parathas, jalebi, and other traditional dishes served in a dhaba-style restaurant. The restaurant is good with lot of options and the food is very traditional and tasty. Our entry ticket included the food There are also area where we can also dress up in the traditional Punjabi style o Wear a turban and take picture. There are also areas for shopping handicrafts, juttis (Punjabi shoes), phulkari dupattas, souvenirs. We understand there is Heritage style rooms for overnight stays. We enjoyed the visit and it is a visit to Punjab in a capsule. We came here on our trip to Amritsar. It is a large area and to walk around. You should allow for at least three hours of time to fully go through the all areas and take a look at them

Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai Sahib Ji is a striking 9-story Sikh temple with a golden dome and faded murals on its interior walls. Situated within the Golden Temple complex, it offers a captivating view of the city from its terrace, once being the tallest structure in Amritsar at 45 meters. The small meditation room at the topmost level provides an exhilarating experience, offering panoramic views of both old and modern parts of the city.
Here's a review for Baba Atal Rai Gurudwara in I recently had the opportunity to visit Baba Atal Rai Gurudwara in Amritsar, Punjab, and it was a profoundly moving experience. **Ambiance:** The Gurudwara is beautifully maintained and exudes a serene and spiritual atmosphere. The towering structure of the nine-story Baba Atal Rai Tower is particularly striking and provides a unique architectural charm. The peaceful environment inside the Gurudwara is perfect for meditation and reflection. **Facilities:** The facilities are well-kept and cater to the needs of the devotees and visitors. Cleanliness is given top priority, and this is evident in the pristine condition of the prayer halls and surrounding areas. There are ample spaces for devotees to sit and pray comfortably. **Community and Service:** The community at Baba Atal Rai Gurudwara is incredibly welcoming and warm. The volunteers and staff members are dedicated and always ready to assist. The langar (community kitchen) serves delicious meals to everyone, reflecting the Sikh principle of selfless service and equality. **Highlights:** One of the standout features of this Gurudwara is its historical significance. It is dedicated to Baba Atal Rai, the son of Guru Hargobind, the sixth Sikh Guru. The spiritual energy and the historical richness of the place provide a deep sense of connection to Sikh heritage. 🙏🙏🙏Built some four centuries ago, the Baba Atal Gurdwara is a touching commemoration of the young life of Baba Atal Rai (1619–1628), the son of Guru Hargobind. Its nine stories echo his nine years of life before his death in 1628.[3] According to Sikh legend narrated in the Gurbilas Chhevin Patshahi, Atal Rai revived a friend named Mohan who was bitten by a snake and subsequently died as a result of the injury. Upon hearing the news of the event, his father was displeased as miracles are rebuked by the Sikh gurus. After being admonished by his father for the miracle, Atal Rai retired himself to the bank of Kaulsar and left this mortal coil on 13 September 1628. The tower was built in his memory and to commemorate his short life.[1] Initially a small samadhi (Indic cenotaph) was constructed at the site, which eventually transformed into a gurdwara. It was during the time of Maharaja Ranjit Singh that the present-day, nine-story tower was constructed.🙏🙏🙏🙏

Located just a short walk south-east of the Golden Temple, this 9‑storey octagonal tower commemorates Baba Atal Rai, the son of Guru Hargobind. Rising about 40 meters high, it was built between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Each floor is dedicated to spiritual teachings, and its top level offers expansive views of the Golden Temple complex. The adjoining Kaulsar sarovar is believed to bring rainfall if dipped in with devotion. Langar runs 24/7, and the shrine stands as a beacon of spiritual history and architectural beauty.

Baba Atal Rai was son of Sixth Guru Hargobind ji born to Mata Nanaki at Amritsar on 23 October 1619. He died at the tender age of nine years. The circumstances of his death, as narrated in Gurbilas Chhevin Patshahi, were most extraordinary. The Gurdwara of Baba Atal is known for its langar and an old saying "Baba Atal Pakiyan Pakaiyan Ghal" "Baba Atal send us the already cooked food" is true with 24-hour ever continuous Langar at this Gurdwara., possible only through the volunteer service of Gursikhs. This Gurudwara is very close to Golden Temple the way towards Mata Ganga ji Niwas.

The Punjab State War Heroes' Memorial & Museum in Amritsar is a must-visit destination for those interested in military history. The museum features eight halls that chronicle battle history from ancient times to 1999, and its centerpiece is a striking 148-ft.-tall sword memorial. Visitors can explore exhibits from the Navy Force and Air Force, as well as tanks, cannons, shields, spears, bows, swords, and daggers.
A Powerful Tribute to the Brave – A Must-Visit Memorial The Punjab State War Heroes Memorial and Museum is an extraordinary place that left me both humbled and inspired. Located near the India-Pakistan border in Amritsar, this museum is a powerful tribute to the brave soldiers of Punjab who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. The architecture of the memorial is striking — the soaring central sword sculpture and flame symbolize valor and honor. The museum itself is beautifully designed and very well maintained. Inside, it’s not just about reading history — it’s an immersive experience. From the moment you enter, you’re taken through various galleries that showcase Punjab’s rich military history, dating back to ancient times through to the modern Indian Armed Forces. The exhibits include authentic weapons, uniforms, medals, and detailed accounts of famous battles. The 7D theater is a highlight — it gives a goosebump-inducing reenactment of war scenes that makes you feel the courage and sacrifice of our soldiers in a very real way. One section that really moved me was the display of letters, photographs, and stories of individual martyrs. It puts faces and emotions to the names we often hear. It’s a reminder of the real people and families behind the headlines. The museum staff are helpful and respectful, and the overall environment encourages quiet reflection. It’s not just for history buffs — it's a place every Indian should visit to truly understand the price of our freedom. I’ve uploaded a few photos from my visit, but honestly, no image can capture the emotional depth of this place. Salute to the heroes of Punjab and India. Jai Hind 🇮🇳

Huge space, has 8 galleries each needs 30 mins atleast. You can get a guide and also has a 7D show which we had to miss. Loved our time there, only advise dont underestimate and keep ample time specially if you are history buff. Museum covers wars from Sikh gurus to modern Kargil war and how Sikh regiments have contributed.
Deepak L — Google review
Very well maintained and it's nice to have a guide explaining each module and the sword figure is cool. Please avoid 7D show. It's very badly maintained and only first few minutes they explain abt Maharaja Ranjit Singh, next it's hellish with those seats and all the roller coaster video. I was sick after the show.
Nityashree G — Google review
You’ll need at least one full day to explore this place properly. There are both pros and cons when hiring a guide — the advantage is that you’ll understand the real stories behind the wars and unsung heroes that never made it to print media. The flip side is that most guides tend to rush through, so if you want to spend more time, you’ll have to set that expectation clearly. We had to rush to the Attari Border in the second half, so our guide wrapped up the tour in about 2 hours. The exhibits are interesting, but the show isn’t that impressive — it lacks a proper storyline and flow. They could’ve made it much better with a virtual tour or an interactive presentation covering all four major wars to provide a better context. The museum is co-owned by the Punjab State Government and the Ministry of Defence, and while the concept and structure are excellent, there’s still scope for better storytelling and visitor experience. Overall, a good place to visit if you’re interested in history and war stories — just make sure to plan enough time and get a good guide.

The museum is very very amazing, the statues, the stories worth every bit. But have atleast 4 hours to enjoy it fully. To fully enjoy, have a guide. Our guide was Kritika, she explained everything very well and is a very sweet lady who answers questions very well. Ask for her when you reach Gallery 1 soon after entry. Mesmerised with the Sikh culture, the war stories and the bravery of each and every soldier. 7D theatre is bit Ohkay but can try.

The Central Sikh Museum, also known as Ajaib Ghar, is a significant attraction in Amritsar that offers a deep dive into the history and culture of the Sikh community. Established by SGPC in 1958, this museum houses a remarkable collection of large paintings depicting Sikh history in English, Hindi, and Punjabi. Visitors can explore ancient arms, manuscripts, and portraits that showcase the struggles and triumphs of the Sikh people throughout history.
everyone is so welcoming, the museum is really nice and well put together. It might not be the largest museum, but is still worth visiting, it also helps provide some basic knowledge for outsiders , then they can go away and do further research about any questions they have. The Golden Temple in Amritsar is truly a breathtaking and spiritual experience. From the moment you step onto the premises, the serene atmosphere and the stunning golden structure reflecting on the sacred pool leave you in awe. The temple, also known as Harmandir Sahib, is not just a religious site but a symbol of equality, peace, and service. One of the highlights is the Langar (community kitchen), where volunteers serve free meals to thousands of people every day regardless of caste, creed, or background. It's humbling to witness such generosity and unity in action. The temple complex is immaculately maintained, and the volunteers are incredibly welcoming. Even during peak hours, there's a calm flow of devotees and visitors. Visiting at night is a magical experience—the golden structure glows beautifully under the lights, mirrored in the still waters of the Amrit Sarovar. Security is tight but respectful, and cleanliness is a top priority. The audio chants and spiritual energy make it more than just a tourist destination—it’s a place to reflect and feel connected. Highly recommend visiting at least once in your life, whether for spiritual reasons or simply to experience the incredible culture and hospitality of the Sikh community.

There is no doubt that it is a great place to visit to witness paintings of Sikh historical figures, events and to see some old manuscripts as well as weapons but it can be modified into a lot better infact a great place if the SGPC gives it some attention. It could be transformed into kind of a virtual tour for the pilgrims visiting from all over the world and from every faith so that they can learn everything about Sikhism they need to, from this museum as this is the most visited Sikh Holi place but unfortunately our SGPC is too busy in non-necessary things that they are doing nothing to improve this museum's value.

Nice historic paintings but shame they do not allow you to take photos and instead want you to buy a book instead. Sadly this is how history is lost. If people were allowed to take photos of the artefacts that were looted and destroyed by the Indian government in 1984 we would have had a record of all Sikh historic artefacts .

Visiting Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar was one of the most peaceful and memorable experiences for our family. Also known as the Golden Temple, this holy place is full of positive energy and spiritual vibes. The moment we stepped inside, we felt a deep sense of calm and peace. The shining golden structure in the middle of the holy water looked beautiful, especially during sunrise and sunset. The place is very well maintained and organized, even though it gets crowded. Everyone was helpful, and the management handled everything smoothly. We stood in line for darshan, and it was worth the wait. The divine atmosphere, the sound of Gurbani, and the kind nature of the people made us feel blessed. We also had the langar (free community meal), and it was simple yet very tasty. The idea that everyone sits together and eats, no matter their background, is really touching. My kids also enjoyed and learned a lot about Sikh culture. If you are visiting Amritsar with family, Sri Harmandir Sahib is a must-visit. It’s not just a religious place, but a place where you feel peace, love, and unity.

This sacred site, steeped in history, provides a serene and contemplative atmosphere that is a stark contrast to the bustling city outside, inviting visitors into a space of quiet reflection and worship. Historically, the Gurudwara holds immense importance as the ancestral home of the Sikh Gurus. Later, it became the home of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, marking it as a cornerstone of Sikh heritage. Structurally, the building is a beautiful example of Sikh architecture. Its pristine white facade and multi-story, simple design stand out with an elegant solemnity. The peaceful courtyard and the central prayer hall, with its intricate details, are a testament to the region's craftsmanship and spiritual devotion. Visiting this Gurudwara is a truly moving experience. Kesar Da Dhaba is a long-standing eatery located near the iconic Golden Temple in Amritsar. It is renowned for its rich and aromatic Punjabi thalis served in an old-fashioned setting. The menu features classic dishes like Dal Makhani, Paneer Tikka, and Stuffed Paranthas prepared using authentic recipes passed down through generations and enriched with pure desi ghee.
Ordered special thali and I was not able to finish even half of it 🥺, they packed my half of the thali. Food is really delicious and phirni is must try. You can reach by walking, bike or toto/rickshaw. Cars cannot reach as it is located in a narrow street. Place is worth visiting if you want to try Punjabi dishes at its best.

I recently visited Kesar Dhaba and tried their stuffed naan thali with chole, dal, curd, and salad. The food was tasty and fulfilling, especially the naan which was well cooked with a nice balance of flavor. The chole was rich and spiced well, giving that authentic dhaba feel. That said, the service was on the slower side, and the ambiance felt quite crowded. Prices are slightly on the higher side compared to regular dhabas, but the portion size was decent enough. Overall, it’s a good place to experience traditional North Indian food, especially if you’re craving naan and chole, but be prepared for some wait time and a busy environment. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (3.5/5)

We visited here for lunch and ordered one special thali, dal fry, plain paratha, and rice. The dal was really good (you should taste) rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait for a table. This is definitely a must visit place in Amritsar, especially to try their famous dal.

First of all, the seating is less with average ambience. Every staff was careless, 3 were sitting on corner tables where customer sits. One staff was standing next to the cashier lady(she might be the owner)and when she got up, he grabbed her chair and started us eating, which looks very weired and non-professional behaviour. The owner lady doesnt have control on her staff and all were careless EXCEPT one lady in uniform, at least she was running the show. Also, observed shortage ot items Lassi which is an all time favorite drink of every north indian. It seems that after the sad demise of the Original Owner, nobody cares about running this famous restaurent. The main part, which is hygeine-- Toilets were dirty, there is water in the Urinal even after having Sensor, used tissues were lying onthe floor instead of dustbin. The floor was wet and water can be seen under the Urinal. There is absolutely careless management who runs this premises very casually like- Ab itna purana naam hai hotel ka to chalana to padega na... I dont know why there is so much hype about this hotel when everybody facing issues. This is my genuine feedback,if anybody want to discuss with me then I will provide my mobile number. The Alloo Paratha,Ghee Roti,Boondi Raita were good. The Kadhai Paneer,Daal Tadka were average. Regards Akhhil Sharmma
Akhhil S — Google review
Food was average, but the desserts were amazing especially the phirni and Rasmalai (must must try). The restaurant had a very long waiting line, it takes almost 15-30 mins to get seated, after that the service is very fast.

If you’re visiting Amritsar, Kesar Da Dhaba is an absolute must-try for traditional Punjabi food. Their parathas and laccha naan are exceptionally tasty and full of authentic flavor. The service is quick and courteous, and the staff ensures a pleasant dining experience. The seating arrangement is decent, though the interior is quite basic and could be improved. The dhaba is located in a very crowded area, which makes it difficult to reach with a self-drive car — it’s best to park outside and take a rickshaw or tuk-tuk to get there. Overall, it’s a legendary spot for food lovers who want to experience true Amritsari flavors. Highly recommended! 🍽️

One of the most beautiful temples in the world covered in 12,000 kg of gold this is a must visit place. You have to wear long clothes and cover your head. Free head covering is available at the entrance. Free shoe store and luggage store is available. Free filter water is available. You have to wash your feet and hands to enter. During the morning or day it could take as long as 2-4 hours to get into the middle temple. To go inside it is best to visit at night about 7:30+ we were in and out in about 45mins. There is a 24hrs langar (food) kitchen entirely run by volunteers which I would highly recommend to eat. You are also able to volunteer with any work so if you feel like washing up then just start following someone else. A very busy but peaceful place where people may be homeless but they will never go hungry.

Golden Temple, Amritsar I recently visited Amritsar for the first time in my life, and the experience was truly divine. Honestly, words can’t do justice to what I felt—you have to be there to understand it. I went during the holidays, and although it was a Sunday and quite crowded, I was still able to explore the city and enjoy its amazing food. We did proper darshan the next day. One sincere request to all fellow travelers—wherever you go, especially at such sacred and historic places, please be mindful of cleanliness. The management at the Golden Temple is doing a great job, but it’s also our responsibility to maintain the sanctity and cleanliness of the place. Everything was so beautiful that I didn’t feel like leaving. Photos can capture the view, but you need to be there to feel that divine energy. And the Kadha Prasad? Truly the best in the world. Highly recommended for anyone seeking peace, devotion, and unforgettable food.

Gurudwara Ber Baba Budha Sahib is a very peaceful and spiritually uplifting place. If you are planning to visit and want to have darshan quickly, it’s best to reach early in the morning, otherwise due to heavy crowds it might take a lot of time. The atmosphere here is filled with devotion and positivity. If you truly want to enjoy the beauty of this holy place, I would also suggest visiting once in the evening — the view and ambiance are simply mesmerizing with the serene lights and calm surroundings. Overall, it’s a must-visit destination for anyone coming to Amritsar, offering both spiritual bliss and a beautiful experience.

Amazing religious temple for Sikhs and all others. We visited twice in a week. Best time to visit is after 6 PM. When it is lighted it is like a heaven. Keep your shoes out, wash hands and legs. Wear head cover. Photography is strictly prohibited. You may see people holding spear, but they are for your protection only. It usually gets very crowded as well. A must visit place in India. Do not miss Silver temple(Durga Mata temple) as well which is close by.

We visited golden temple in April. It was very hot in Amritsar. We visited golden temple at night from outside. It looks beautiful at night. There is a counter where you get Prasad and can be donated also. In morning we went to Golden temple to take darshan. It took 3 hours in line. Line management could have been better as it is not single line. But women with kids are allowed ahead. There is separate line for ladies and gents. Outside there is a large corridor which has markets and vendors. You can purchase jhumkas, jhooti, dress materials. Near by there is also a market called as Shimla market which has cheaper but same items. You can explore that also. Beside it there is Jallianwala Bagh where in you can go and spend sometime by watching the place and also garden.

The Golden Temple, known as Sri Harmandir Sahib, holds a special place in the hearts of Sikhs worldwide. Situated in Amritsar, Punjab, it's not just a religious site but a beacon of spiritual and historical importance. Getting there is easy with options like the nearby airport and railway station, as well as buses and taxis. Constructed by Guru Arjan Dev in the 16th century, the Golden Temple's golden dome is iconic, housing the revered Guru Granth Sahib. It's a haven for prayer, meditation, and community service. Despite its popularity, the temple management ensures a smooth experience for visitors, even during busy times like festivals. What truly stands out is the langar, a communal kitchen offering free meals to everyone, irrespective of their faith. It's a beautiful expression of Sikh values, promoting equality and humanity. The Golden Temple in Amritsar is more than just a tourist spot; it's a profound journey into Sikhism's essence, offering serenity and inclusivity to all who visit.

A Spiritual Experience Like No Other – But Crowd Management Needs Attention The Golden Temple in Amritsar is truly a place of serenity and spiritual purity. Its simplicity, despite being one of the most visited shrines in the world, is what makes it so special. From the moment you step inside the premises, there’s a calmness that you begin to feel from within — a quiet connection with something higher, something peaceful. The divine aura, the soothing Gurbani echoing in the background, and the selfless service of the volunteers all come together to make the experience deeply humbling. However, one area where there is genuine scope for improvement is crowd management. During peak hours or festival days, the lines from the backside of the temple complex become very congested. It’s especially challenging for elderly people and small children. The way queues are formed and controlled in such situations can lead to discomfort and, at times, even suffocation. A more structured and humane way of managing the crowd — perhaps through better queue systems, shaded waiting areas, or scheduled entry slots — would really enhance the overall experience, especially for those who may not be physically strong. That said, the spiritual energy of the Golden Temple is unmatched. It’s a place that everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime — not just to see a monument, but to feel something truly pure.

The Golden Temple, or Sri Harmandir Sahib, is the most sacred and spiritual site in Sikhism, located in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, India. It is a major pilgrimage destination and a symbol of universal brotherhood and equality. History and Significance Foundation: The land for the temple was acquired by Guru Ram Das, the fourth Sikh Guru, in 1577, who also completed the holy pool (Sarovar) around which the temple is built. Construction: The fifth Sikh Guru, Guru Arjan Dev, began the construction of the temple in 1588, with the foundation stone being laid by the Sufi Muslim saint, Sai Mian Mir. This act symbolized the Sikh principle of inclusivity. Reconstruction: The original structure was repeatedly destroyed by Afghan and Mughal invaders in the 18th century. Maharaja Ranjit Singh, who founded the Sikh Empire, rebuilt the temple in the early 19th century, using marble and copper and overlaying the sanctum with gold leaf, which gave it the name "Golden Temple." Egalitarian Principles: The temple's design reflects the core tenets of Sikhism. Unlike most Hindu temples that are elevated, the Golden Temple is built on a lower level, requiring visitors to step down, which symbolizes humility. It also has four entrances, facing each cardinal direction, signifying that it is open to people of all castes, creeds, and religions. Architecture The Golden Temple's architecture is a unique blend of Mughal and Rajput styles. Key features include: The Sarovar: The temple complex is centered around the "Amrit Sarovar" (Pool of Nectar), a large, holy water tank believed to have healing powers. The temple itself appears to float in the middle of this pool. The Sanctum Sanctorum: The central shrine, covered in gold leaf, houses the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhism. It is connected to the land by a marble causeway. The Akal Takht: Located across the causeway from the main temple, the Akal Takht is the supreme seat of authority for Sikhism, dealing with spiritual and secular matters. Visitor Information Timings: The temple is open to visitors 24/7, though certain rituals and ceremonies occur at specific times. The doors generally open around 4:00 AM and close around 10:00 PM. The Palki Sahib ceremony, in which the holy scripture is carried to and from the Akal Takht, is performed in the early morning and late evening. Langar (Community Kitchen): A key part of the temple's ethos is the free community meal, or "Langar," which is served to thousands of people daily, regardless of their background. The langar is open 24 hours a day. Dress Code and Rules: Head Covering: All visitors, both men and women, must cover their heads with a scarf or handkerchief before entering the complex. Modest Attire: Visitors are required to dress modestly, with clothing that covers their shoulders and knees. Shorts, mini-skirts, and sleeveless tops are discouraged. Footwear: Shoes and socks must be removed and can be left at the free shoe storage facilities. Photography: Photography is generally prohibited inside the main sanctum but is allowed in the outer walkway (Parikrama). Prohibitions: Smoking, alcohol, and tobacco are strictly forbidden within the temple complex.

Historical Gurdwara, and one of the five Sarovars (Pool of Nectar) of Amritsar. Here last suffix "Sar" refers to Sarovar. 1.) AmritSar (Golden Temple or Harmandir Sahib) 2.) BibekSar Sahib (this place) 3.) RamSar Sahib (just opposite to this) 4.) KaulSar Sahib (500m from here) 5.) SantokhSar (500m from Golden Temple)

In Amritsar’s Old City, Gurdwara Bibeksar Sahib stands at the historic site where Guru Hargobind Sahib once meditated and rested beside a small sacred tank. Though humble in size, the tank remains a place for devotional bathing and silent prayer. Its calm courtyard, daily langar, and deep spiritual significance offer a tranquil retreat, often missed by casual tourists but treasured by devotees looking for quiet reflection close to the city’s heart.

Gurdwara Bibeksar Sahib is built next to the Bibeksar Sarovar, one of the five holy tanks in Amritsar. The Sarovar was personally excavated by the sixth Sikh Guru, Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, in 1628 CE. The Guru used to rest here after hunting and often held evening meetings at this tranquil spot. It was a place for spiritual discussion and where Guru Hargobind Ji organized his Sikhs on military lines. The present Gurdwara building was later erected by Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Swami Ram Tirth Mission Trust, also known as Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, is a revered religious site believed to be the location where Goddess Sita gave birth to her sons. The temple offers a serene and tranquil atmosphere with a beautiful lake perfect for peaceful strolls or meditation. Visitors appreciate the renovations and added facilities that enhance the experience of this sacred place.
It would be insane to rate a religious place. While I request the readers of this review to ignore the rating……. About this place …. No words are enough. A pious experience and one can feel the bliss. Go with an open mind to experience the divinity….. and without expectations….. one can feel the presence of supreme power. The walk around the temple pond is Amazing. There is so much one can relate with the mythology to the place. I’m sure this fortifies the beliefs. While the place has been renovated….. but some places are left as is …. Like Maa Sita’s well , Luv and Kush’s birth and education place etc. Awesome.

The food was average; however, the curd was excellent. The dal was too salty, and overall, the meal didn’t justify the price. We ended up leaving some food behind, as it didn’t live up to the hype. They should focus on improving the quality of their dishes.

History of this place - Guru Arjan Dev Ji,the fifth Sikh guru, had q large well constructed in this area. The well was so large that it required 6 persian wheels to operate.chheharta got its name from the six wheels, where six chhe (punjabi: ਛੇ) and the persain wheel is called hart (punjabi : ਹਰਟ). The well was now been covered, but its water is still pumped to feed the main tank of the Gurudwara.now developed as industrial township, chheharta falls within the revenue limits of Vadali Guru, a village one km to the south, where guru arjan stayed during 1594-97.

Spiritual place to feel the calm and serene environment. One can feel the positive energy oozing throughout this Holy Place. No problem of parking as there is plenty of space available. It gets crowded on some special occasions. So, on that day its better to plan your visit first before you get stuck in traffic chaos as one has to pass railway crossing before reaching there. I couldn't forget that day where i was stuck on the crossing for at least 3 hours. Hope this never happens to anyone. Anyhow, must go place if you want to feel the presence of God.

Gurudwara
Historical landmark
Amritsar, the holiest city for Sikhs, is home to the magnificent Golden Temple, also known as Sri Harmandir Sahib. This renowned Sikh gurdwara in Punjab, India holds immense significance and features striking architecture with gleaming golden domes set amidst a serene sarovar called Amrit Sarovar. Visitors from all backgrounds are warmly welcomed at this iconic shrine.

I’ve visited the Golden Temple both at night and in the morning, both experiences are amazing. I recommend going after sunset; it’s quieter and feels like a direct connection with the Guru. You can sit peacefully for hours, enjoy langar, and feel complete calm.

We visited the golden temple popularly called as the Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar was one of the most spiritual and memorable experiences for us. .While we were there we visited the temple once during the evening and later in the morning when we could go inside. This holy place is full of positive energy and spiritual vibes. The moment we stepped inside, we felt a deep sense of calm and peace. The shining golden edifice in the middle of the holy water looked beautiful, especially during the dawn and dusk and it is beautiful to see the reflection in the water. The place is very well maintained and organized, even though it gets crowded. People were helpful, and the temple authorities handled everything smoothly and they keep on cleaning the temple and premises. We stood in line for darshan, and although the waiting was for more than three hours, everyone was very patient and helpful. The divine atmosphere, the sound of Sikh prayers of Gurbani, and the helpful nature of the people made us feel blessed. In the night we had the langar the food provided by the temple and it was simple yet very tasty. If you are visiting Amritsar, golden temple is a must-visit. It’s not just a temple but a place symbolizing unity, peace and co-existence

✨ Golden Temple Review ✨ The Golden Temple, also known as Sri Harmandir Sahib, is the holiest shrine of Sikhism and a symbol of equality, peace, and devotion. Surrounded by the Amrit Sarovar (holy water tank), the gold-plated sanctum glows beautifully—especially at sunrise and night. The divine kirtan (hymns) and spiritual atmosphere make it one of the most serene places in the world. ✔️ Highlights: • The shimmering golden sanctum in the middle of the holy lake • Continuous soulful Gurbani kirtan inside the temple • The world’s largest free community kitchen (Langar) serving thousands daily • Peaceful darshan both day and night (temple open almost 20 hours a day) • Incredible hospitality and cleanliness maintained by sevadars (volunteers) ⚠️ Things to keep in mind: • Head must be covered at all times (scarves/dupattas available outside) • Be prepared for long queues, especially on weekends and Gurpurabs • No footwear allowed—storage facility available outside • Best time to visit: early morning (Amrit Vela) or late night for peaceful darshan ⭐ Overall: A soul-touching experience of faith, equality, and service. The Golden Temple is not just a monument—it’s a living example of devotion, humility, and humanity.
Pooja C — Google review

This temple looks like the Golden Temple because of its design, with a golden dome and a water tank around it. It is dedicated to Goddess Durga, and the atmosphere feels very spiritual. 🌟 Durgiana Temple – The Golden Temple’s Lesser-Known Twin! 🏰✨ Amritsar may be famous for the Golden Temple, but just a short rickshaw ride away sits its Hindu doppelgänger (double) —the dazzling Durgiana Temple! Think golden domes, a shimmering lake, and architecture so grand even the rain couldn’t dull its sparkle. ☔🌥️ Built in 1921, this temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga, along with Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth 💰) and Vishnu (The Preserver 🙌). And here’s the fun part—it looks strikingly similar to the Golden Temple. 💛 The holy sarovar (water tank)💦 adds to the magic, where devotees cleanse their souls. Durgiana Temple holds its own with devotion, charm, and a peaceful vibe that makes you want to stay a little longer.✨🙏 #DurgianaTemple #GoldenGlow #HinduHeritage #AmritsarVibes

It was a really beautiful journey. The tour guide was also one of the friendliest people & within limited time he tried to show all the important places & described briefly about them. It missed some places written originally on website but it was worth it. I'll highly recommend everyone to use this bus service instead of the auto services scamming people recklessly.

Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Asthan is a significant Hindu temple located 11 km west of Amritsar, known as the birthplace of Luv and Kush, the sons of Lord Ram and Sita Mata. The temple is dedicated to Maharishi Valmiki ji and features a museum, a gilded statue of Valmiki, and an ornate structure built on stilts over a pond.
Serene and peaceful area. Beautiful g lake around. Lav and Kush, sons of Lord Rama purportedly born here. The pregnant Sita ma was given shelter after she left Ayodhya

Beautiful place. This site holds tremendous value in the Hindu tradition being the ashram of Maharshi Valmiki, and the birth place of Lav and Kush. The management needs to step up to maintain the cleanliness and sanctity of this place. The temple structure is unique. Situated in the middle of the lake, the entire site looks picturesque. Worth a visit.

This place is known for birth of luv kush who was son of lord ram. If u go to amritsar u must visit here. Its 12km far from Amritsar. U can hire auto or cab for this place.
Sunny S — Google review
Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Asthan in Amritsar is a magnificent spiritual destination that beautifully blends history, devotion, and architecture. Believed to be the ashram of Sage Valmiki, this sacred site holds immense significance as the birthplace of Luv and Kush and the place where the Ramayana was composed. The modern temple complex, inaugurated in 2016, is breathtaking. The main shrine stands gracefully in the middle of a large sacred pond, with its reflection shimmering in the water—a sight that feels truly divine. The 8-foot tall, gold-plated idol of Sage Valmiki is the heart of the temple and inspires deep reverence. The premises also include a museum, a Sanskrit library, Sita Mata’s hut, and several mythological spots linked to the Ramayana. Ample parking, clean pathways, and spacious halls make it comfortable for visitors. The atmosphere is serene, especially in the early morning, when chants and the soft sound of water create a calming experience. However, some areas need better maintenance to preserve its grandeur. Overall, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Asthan is not just a temple but a journey into India’s rich spiritual heritage—a must-visit for devotees, history lovers, and anyone seeking peace.

Raam Tirth Mandir in Amritsar is a deeply revered and historically rich pilgrimage site, steeped in the legends of the Ramayana. It's on the way to Atari Wagah border.
Sandip C — Google review
It is not too far from the City. Everyone should visit the place..... Holy place of Valmiki..... The architecture of the temple is superb.... The pond is a good attraction to the temple.... Adequate parking place is available for cars and bikes... No ticket is required to visit the temple....
Bharath R — Google review
Very peaceful and serene place, little off from the city. We visited during the daytime, still it was enjoyable and a cool breeze was flowing. Big structure, huge lake with lots of fishes and tortoises in it. My kid enjoyed feeding them. The reality of the historic importance that they claim is debatable, but you will definitely enjoy this place. Do visit if you have little extra time during your amritsar trip.

Dhaba
Brothers Dhaba is a vibrant and casual dining spot that offers a variety of vegetarian northern Indian dishes. Situated near the Golden Temple in Amritsar, it's a popular choice for those craving authentic North Indian cuisine. The menu features favorites like Aloo Gobi, Paneer Butter Masala, and creamy Dal Makhani. With its bustling atmosphere, generous portions, and warm hospitality, Brothers Dhaba is a must-visit for food enthusiasts exploring the area.
Brothers Dhaba – Where Comfort Food Gets a Punjabi Punch Born out of the same culinary roots as its elder sibling, Brothers Dhaba brings its own flavor to the table — quite literally. While it shares the legacy, it carves a different path, blending tradition with a touch of home-style flair. Step inside and you’re welcomed with aromas that feel instantly familiar — like walking into your grandma’s kitchen on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Let’s talk Kadhi Chawal. It’s got that perfect tang, poured over fluffy rice, and finished with a drizzle of desi ghee that ties it all together. A side of crisp onions adds the crunch you didn’t know you needed. It’s comfort food that hugs you back. And the Rajma Chawal? Oh, it’s dreamy. Silky-soft kidney beans in a rich, slow-cooked gravy that’s clearly made with love and a lot of patience. The kind of rajma that doesn't need bells or whistles — just a spoon, a quiet moment, and maybe a nap afterward. Brothers Dhaba doesn’t just serve food — it serves nostalgia, in generous portions. Pro Move: Sneak in that extra plate of Kadhi Chawal. Even if you’re full, you’ll find the space. And yes, it’s totally worth it. 📍Located right by Town Hall, Amritsar — sharing walls with legacy, but standing strong on its own.
Rubal S — Google review
There are lot of mixed reviews of this place but the place is actually good to dine. The food is fantastic with authentic flavours. Daal Makhni, Paneer, Chhole everything is wonderful. Lachha parathas are very unique and crispy, not eaten anywhere else in the country. Staff is very friendly and serves you really well. Serving time is not long. The desserts however are average and can be avoided. Food here is a must try, specially their thali. Highly Recommended. Located right in vicinity if Golden Temple, you are very likely to love their food.
Harshit A — Google review
Had a great experience at Brother’s Dhaba in Amritsar! The food was flavorful and satisfying, but the highlight for me was definitely the amazing Amritsari Kulche—crispy on the outside, perfectly stuffed, and served with delicious chole and chutney. The mango lassi was another winner—thick, creamy, and refreshing, just the way it should be. Portion sizes were generous, making it great value for money. The place has a casual, lively vibe and quick service too. A must-visit if you’re in Amritsar and craving authentic Punjabi food!
Soumee B — Google review
A must-visit spot near the Golden Temple for anyone craving authentic Punjabi comfort food. The chole bhature, rajma chawal, and paneer dishes are full of flavor and generously portioned. Service is quick and efficient, even during rush hours. The place is usually crowded, but the turnaround time is fast, making it ideal for tourists on the go. 💡 Tip: Try the lassi — it's thick, creamy, and served chilled in a steel tumbler. Best visited during early lunch or late dinner hours to avoid long queues.
Nikhil R — Google review
This place serves amazing Amritsari kulcha and choor choor naan. The food tastes really good and is of good quality. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the service is quick. The prices are a bit high, but it's worth it for the delicious food. This is on the way to wagha border and will recommend this place than any other places for kulchas.
Bhargav M — Google review
I recently visited this restaurant and had a very unpleasant experience. While eating, I discovered a black worm on my plate, right in the middle of the food. This is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about the hygiene and food safety standards of this place. Despite the food being otherwise decent, such a lapse in cleanliness cannot be ignored. It not only ruined the meal but also made me question how the kitchen is being maintained. I hope the management takes immediate action to improve hygiene and ensure this does not happen to anyone else. Customers trust you with their health — don’t take it lightly. Not recommended unless they take visible corrective steps.

Funland in Amritsar is a delightful amusement park that offers an array of fun activities for families and friends. The park features thrilling rides, trampolines, toy train rides, horror houses, and car rides. Nestled within the scenic Company Bagh, it provides a unique recreational experience alongside historical and religious sites. Funland boasts lush greenery and is divided into two parts with numerous paid and free slides.
A perfect place for locals as well as others to get together or children's fun time. The park is divided in two parts & both the parts have so many rides which are paid as well as free slides are also there. Entry ticket is 5 rs@ kids & 10 rs @ adults + a lots of parking area 10rs@ car .. which is very cheap n best deal for the family. If one couldn't say it's a great place or Not so much high quality fun park as it's owned by Government but it can't be denied to say a place food enough.. refreshments zone { cold drinks / food/ confectionery items } are available there. On the whole , a good spot for children. Rides are now 20rs @ children which were started from 10 rs. The plus point which I noticed is it also has very neat n clean {washrooms}urinal / toilets for ladies n Gents both. Electric car for children is 50 rs / children @ 2 rounds is somewhat a lil bit expensive for locals. Any how a great , cheap n best place in the centre of the city.

I went that place because of its hype .I have an open number of comments dad status very beautiful and it has amusement park so and so what are you when I went there I felt that it is a very small park here the food quality is also average it's not so good it's not so good for people and children but I saw that there is a boating also available there are many beautiful sculptures home many animal such as giraffe elephant lion cubs peacock and many more I like that touches their very much is good for children but there is no grass so you will see that the stage coming out of ground it's a very bad think they are which is the best place is good but I feel that the quality is very bad so don't waste your time . On normal day there was dust and dust flowing here and there and their so giving the place very untidy look. So just as i wasted time don't waste your time on going that place Rather Go to Suncity amusement park it's very very very beautiful place also the entrance ticket here is 10 for children above the age of 12 and rupees 5 for the children below the age of 12 and all the rides cost extra

The Punjab State War Heroes Memorial and Museum stands as a poignant tribute to the valor of Indian soldiers, particularly those who fought in the 1971 war. Nestled over seven acres along Amritsar-Attari Road, this remarkable memorial was established by the state government at a cost of Rs 135 crore. Its centerpiece is an impressive 45-meter stainless steel sword symbolizing the strength and courage of Punjab's people.
It's an absolute beautiful and information place that has been developed and well maintained.
