The Golden Temple, located in Amritsar, is a deeply spiritual and enriching experience that visitors will cherish forever. The serene atmosphere and sense of peace within the complex are striking from the moment you enter. The temple's gleaming golden facade is breathtaking, especially when reflected in the surrounding holy tank. It offers an immersive journey into Sikh culture and spirituality, with Guru ka Langar serving simple meals to thousands of devotees daily.
The Golden Temple is one of the most peaceful and spiritual places I have ever visited. The beauty of the shimmering temple surrounded by water is breathtaking, especially at night. What truly stands out is the sense of calm, devotion, and equality here—everyone is welcomed with open arms. The langar (community kitchen) is an incredible experience, serving thousands daily with love and humility. A must-visit for both its spiritual significance and its architectural beauty.

Felt so peaceful after coming here. Went on the eve of Guru Purab, there was a huge crowd but still the management was so effective that everything was happening smoothly. Got in a queue to receive prasad and had a pleasant time sitting near the holy waters.

Our family visited Sri Harmandir Sahib Gurudwara during 21 to 23 October 2025 Dipawali holidays Darshan. We stayed at Sri Guru Arian Devji Niwas, near campus. Due to the blessings of God, we took Darshan for 3 consecutive days, in a calm, tranquil, pious, religious atmosphere. We got Langar prasad. Hundreds of Sikh community bhakts were voluntarily providing their valuable services happily. It has a clean, peaceful, serene, excellent infrastructure facilities coupled with best human resources serving the devotees.

Visiting Sri Harmandir Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple, was a truly divine and peaceful experience. The moment you step inside, the positive energy of the place surrounds you completely. The sight of the golden structure reflecting on the holy water is absolutely breathtaking, it feels serene and spiritual in every sense. The seva done by volunteers, from helping visitors to preparing and serving food in the langar, is truly inspiring. The langar experience itself is something everyone should have at least once, pure, and full of devotion. The entire temple complex is extremely well-maintained, clean, and beautifully organized despite the huge crowds. The pathway around the sarovar is peaceful for sitting or walking, especially in the early morning or late evening when the lighting makes it look magical. Overall, Sri Harmandir Sahib is not just a religious place but a symbol of peace, equality, and faith. No matter what your background is, you’ll feel a deep sense of spirituality here. A must-visit place that truly touches the heart.

A divine place. I have almost zero knowledge of Sikhism. But when I stand in th3 queue for 4 hours that is when I felt the presence different energy. I have been to Kashi, Ujjain and every where u have to stand in queue. A lot of pushing touching, but here people are standing together with families but with pure energy and devotion to "Guru"🙏

Spiritual Atmosphere: Reviewers consistently mention the sacred, peaceful, and divine feeling upon visiting the temple, according to Wanderlog. Free Access & Langar: Entry is free to all, and the daily communal meal, or langar, is also offered to every devotee without charge, a feature widely appreciated. Architectural Beauty: The temple itself is described as beautiful, built from white marble and covered in 24-karat gold, creating a stunning visual spectacle, notes this travel guide. Accessibility: The site is open 24 hours a day, making it accessible for visits at any time.

Visiting Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar was one of the most peaceful and memorable experiences for our family. Also known as the Golden Temple, this holy place is full of positive energy and spiritual vibes. The moment we stepped inside, we felt a deep sense of calm and peace. The shining golden structure in the middle of the holy water looked beautiful, especially during sunrise and sunset. The place is very well maintained and organized, even though it gets crowded. Everyone was helpful, and the management handled everything smoothly. We stood in line for darshan, and it was worth the wait. The divine atmosphere, the sound of Gurbani, and the kind nature of the people made us feel blessed. We also had the langar (free community meal), and it was simple yet very tasty. The idea that everyone sits together and eats, no matter their background, is really touching. My kids also enjoyed and learned a lot about Sikh culture. If you are visiting Amritsar with family, Sri Harmandir Sahib is a must-visit. It’s not just a religious place, but a place where you feel peace, love, and unity.

Kesar Da Dhaba is a long-standing eatery located near the iconic Golden Temple in Amritsar. It is renowned for its rich and aromatic Punjabi thalis served in an old-fashioned setting. The menu features classic dishes like Dal Makhani, Paneer Tikka, and Stuffed Paranthas prepared using authentic recipes passed down through generations and enriched with pure desi ghee.
Ordered special thali and I was not able to finish even half of it 🥺, they packed my half of the thali. Food is really delicious and phirni is must try. You can reach by walking, bike or toto/rickshaw. Cars cannot reach as it is located in a narrow street. Place is worth visiting if you want to try Punjabi dishes at its best.

I recently visited Kesar Dhaba and tried their stuffed naan thali with chole, dal, curd, and salad. The food was tasty and fulfilling, especially the naan which was well cooked with a nice balance of flavor. The chole was rich and spiced well, giving that authentic dhaba feel. That said, the service was on the slower side, and the ambiance felt quite crowded. Prices are slightly on the higher side compared to regular dhabas, but the portion size was decent enough. Overall, it’s a good place to experience traditional North Indian food, especially if you’re craving naan and chole, but be prepared for some wait time and a busy environment. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (3.5/5)

We visited here for lunch and ordered one special thali, dal fry, plain paratha, and rice. The dal was really good (you should taste) rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait for a table. This is definitely a must visit place in Amritsar, especially to try their famous dal.

First of all, the seating is less with average ambience. Every staff was careless, 3 were sitting on corner tables where customer sits. One staff was standing next to the cashier lady(she might be the owner)and when she got up, he grabbed her chair and started us eating, which looks very weired and non-professional behaviour. The owner lady doesnt have control on her staff and all were careless EXCEPT one lady in uniform, at least she was running the show. Also, observed shortage ot items Lassi which is an all time favorite drink of every north indian. It seems that after the sad demise of the Original Owner, nobody cares about running this famous restaurent. The main part, which is hygeine-- Toilets were dirty, there is water in the Urinal even after having Sensor, used tissues were lying onthe floor instead of dustbin. The floor was wet and water can be seen under the Urinal. There is absolutely careless management who runs this premises very casually like- Ab itna purana naam hai hotel ka to chalana to padega na... I dont know why there is so much hype about this hotel when everybody facing issues. This is my genuine feedback,if anybody want to discuss with me then I will provide my mobile number. The Alloo Paratha,Ghee Roti,Boondi Raita were good. The Kadhai Paneer,Daal Tadka were average. Regards Akhhil Sharmma
Akhhil S — Google review
Food was average, but the desserts were amazing especially the phirni and Rasmalai (must must try). The restaurant had a very long waiting line, it takes almost 15-30 mins to get seated, after that the service is very fast.
Ishita K — Google review
If you’re visiting Amritsar, Kesar Da Dhaba is an absolute must-try for traditional Punjabi food. Their parathas and laccha naan are exceptionally tasty and full of authentic flavor. The service is quick and courteous, and the staff ensures a pleasant dining experience. The seating arrangement is decent, though the interior is quite basic and could be improved. The dhaba is located in a very crowded area, which makes it difficult to reach with a self-drive car — it’s best to park outside and take a rickshaw or tuk-tuk to get there. Overall, it’s a legendary spot for food lovers who want to experience true Amritsari flavors. Highly recommended! 🍽️

Best parathas I’ve ever had! Just perfect! The service was also exceptional. Our waitress served us with so much love.

Loved everything about it. Chose the original seating area for the authenticity of the atmosphere. Food was soooo good!!! Almost missed the phirnis (was a bit heartbroken) but the staff miraculously brought two last plates of it. #fullOfGratitude I know this place does not require it but I highly recommend it.

Tour Review: Amritsar Bus Tour with Guide Iqbal Singh I recently had the pleasure of taking a guided bus tour of Amritsar, and it was a truly enriching experience—largely thanks to our fantastic guide, Iqbal Singh. From start to finish, the tour was well-organized, informative, and full of local charm. Iqbal Singh brought the city to life with his deep knowledge of Amritsar’s history, culture, and hidden gems. His storytelling skills were impressive—he made each stop engaging, whether we were standing in front of the majestic Golden Temple or exploring the historic lanes near Jallianwala Bagh. The bus was comfortable, clean, and well-maintained, making it easy to relax and enjoy the ride between destinations. What stood out most, though, was Iqbal Singh’s warm personality and genuine enthusiasm for sharing his city with us. He patiently answered questions, offered helpful tips, and even shared some local food recommendations that turned out to be delicious. Overall, the tour was a great blend of sightseeing, cultural learning, and fun. I highly recommend this Amritsar bus tour, especially if you’re lucky enough to have Iqbal Singh as your guide!Thanku

It was a really beautiful journey. The tour guide was also one of the friendliest people & within limited time he tried to show all the important places & described briefly about them. It missed some places written originally on website but it was worth it. I'll highly recommend everyone to use this bus service instead of the auto services scamming people recklessly.

Jallianwala Bagh is a public garden in Amritsar, India, known for its memorial to the tragic massacre of 13 April 1919. The garden features an eternal flame-shaped memorial and serves as a significant historical site. It is part of the Heritage Mile along with the Golden Temple and the Partition Museum.
Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar is a place which I always wanted to visit. More than a tourist destination; it's a very historical place historical which has left a lasting impression on every Indian. Having heard so much of the incident on 1919 when the British indiscriminately fired on and killed and wounded many Indians, visiting Jallianwala Bagh was a deeply moving and emotional experience for us. The moment you walk in, as you have heard a lot of on the event, you can feel the weight of history all around you. They have preserved bullet marks on the walls and the well with a tragic story behind it serve as powerful reminders of the sacrifices made during India's freedom struggle. Government has done some renovation also. A good step. The place brings in a strong sense of patriotism and gratitude. It is located at a walking distance near the revered Golden Temple, and a must see of any trip to Amritsar, offering a stark reminder of India's struggle for independence. A must visit historical monument for all Indians. There are a lot of informative displays and a garden area for reflection. The place was very crowded as we went on a weekend.

The bullet marks on the walls and the Martyrs’ Well speak volumes about the pain and courage of those who stood here a century ago.The place is beautifully maintained and filled with stories that remind us what freedom truly cost. The eternal flame and memorial create a peaceful yet powerful atmosphere that leaves you silent and reflective. It’s not just a tourist spot — it’s a reminder of bravery, sacrifice, and the resilience of our nation. Every Indian should visit at least once.

Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar is not just a tourist destination — it’s a sacred ground of history and sacrifice that every Indian carries in their heart. I had always wanted to visit this place, and being here was a deeply emotional and humbling experience. Having read and heard about the tragic incident of 1919, when innocent Indians were mercilessly fired upon by British troops, stepping inside the Bagh fills you with a powerful sense of grief and respect. You can almost feel the weight of history in the air. The preserved bullet marks on the walls and the Martyrs’ Well stand as silent yet powerful reminders of the immense courage and suffering of those who laid down their lives for our freedom. The recent renovations by the government have enhanced the site while maintaining its historical essence — a thoughtful step indeed. Located just a short walk from the Golden Temple, this memorial is an essential part of any visit to Amritsar. The informative displays, peaceful garden areas, and solemn atmosphere make it a place for reflection and gratitude. It was quite crowded when we visited over the weekend, but that only shows how strongly this place continues to touch the hearts of people. A must-visit historical monument for every Indian — one that rekindles patriotism, pride, and deep respect for our nation’s freedom fighters. 🇮🇳❤️

Jallianwala Bagh is one of the most historic places in India, carrying the painful memory of the tragic massacre of 1919. Visiting this site is both an emotional and educational experience, as it reminds us of the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle. The preserved walls with bullet marks and the memorial serve as powerful symbols of the disaster that should never be forgotten. The site is maintained well and provides proper historical explanations through displays and plaques, making it easier for visitors to understand the events that unfolded here. One of the best things about Jallianwala Bagh is that there is no entry fee, so anyone can walk in and pay their respects. It is located very close to the Golden Temple, which makes it convenient to cover both in the same trip. The garden closes at 5 p.m., so visiting early is recommended not only to avoid the harsh sun but also to have ample time to explore peacefully. Be cautious, though, as there are occasional pickpocketing incidents reported around the area, and police presence is limited. On the brighter side, the place is surrounded by plenty of restaurants. Entry and exit are through different gates, ensuring smooth movement of visitors.
Aniruth G — Google review
The place is well maintained and there’s no entry fee. You can easily spend a couple of hours exploring around and understanding the history connected to this site. As you walk through, you’ll come across many untold stories. some displayed, some narrated by locals or guides. A must-visit place in Amritsar to truly feel a part of India’s past.

This place really gives goosebumps. Jallianwala Bagh is a deeply emotional and historic place that reminds us of the sacrifices made during India’s struggle for freedom. The preserved bullet marks and the well-maintained memorial evoke strong feelings of respect and sadness. The museum inside provides valuable insight into the tragic events of 1919. It’s not just a tourist spot — it’s a place for reflection and gratitude. A must-visit for anyone coming to Amritsar.
M S — Google review
Jallianwala Bagh is not a tourist attraction—it is a sacred site of memory and resistance. Its haunting past continues to speak loudly in today’s India, reminding visitors of the price paid for the freedoms we now enjoy. It is a place every Indian—and indeed, every visitor to India—should experience. It stirs the conscience, educates the mind, and moves the soul.
Arun S — Google review
Visiting Jallianwala Bagh was a very emotional experience. This place is a powerful reminder of India’s fight for freedom, where many innocent people lost their lives in the 1919 massacre. Walking through the garden, seeing the bullet-marked walls, and standing near the well where people tried to escape filled me with respect and sadness for the martyrs. But I was disappointed with some changes. The original single entry and exit point, which was a big part of the tragedy’s history, has been changed to separate entry and exit points. This takes away the true historical feel, as the narrow passage was important to what happened that day. Keeping the original layout would help visitors feel the history better. Also, the Indian Oil branding right above the eternal flame felt very wrong. This flame is meant to honor the martyrs, and a commercial logo doesn’t belong there. Something patriotic like "Jai Hind" would be much better for such a sacred place. Jallianwala Bagh should stay free from advertisements to keep its respect and purpose. Overall, Jallianwala Bagh is a must-visit to understand India’s history and honor those who died for freedom. I hope it can be preserved in its original form without commercial elements. Let this place remain a true tribute to our martyrs and their sacrifice for our country.

Martyrs Well

Historical place
Martyrs Well is a significant historical site located within the Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar. It holds great importance as it commemorates the victims of the tragic Jallianwala Bagh massacre that took place in 1919 during British rule. The well and its surrounding landscaped gardens serve as a poignant reminder of the sacrifice and pain endured by numerous men, women, and children who sought refuge from the brutal gunfire by British troops.
Located in Jallianwala Bagh, Katra Ahluwalia, Amritsar, the Martyrs’ Well stands as one of the most moving reminders of India’s colonial past. It is part of the memorial complex that preserves the memories of the tragic massacre of April 13, 1919. During the brutal firing ordered by General Dyer, hundreds of men, women, and children, in a desperate attempt to escape bullets, jumped into this well. Sadly, over 120 lives were lost inside the well, making it a silent grave of innocent souls. The structure is now preserved with a protective boundary and dome, allowing visitors to reflect upon the enormity of the tragedy. The well holds deep emotional and historical significance. Visiting the Martyrs’ Well evokes a profound sense of grief and respect. It is not just a memorial but a sacred reminder of sacrifice, courage, and the high price paid for India’s freedom.

The Shaheedi well which itself tells the haunting story of Jallianwala bagh massacre . But after reconstructing it lost its value. Earlier there were above 25 bulletin marks on this wall. Now they just modified it and ruined its true form. The inside walls were painted.. outside walls been extended 😑 actually they ruined the Jallianwala bagh memorial.
Shibu M — Google review
Visiting Jallianwala Bagh was not just a historical visit, it was an emotional awakening. As I walked through the narrow passage, I could feel the weight of what had happened here. One single exit. No way out. Hundreds of innocent lives trapped, and mercilessly gunned down under General Dyer’s cold-blooded orders. When I reached the well that well, my heart broke. This wasn’t just stone and water. It was a sacred tomb. So many people, in desperation, leapt into its depths, trying to escape bullets. Mothers, children, elders… choosing to jump rather than be shot. I stood there frozen, and then I cried. Tears flowed for lives that never got justice, for voices that were never heard. The well holds their last breath. You can feel it. I sat at the Amar Jyoti, in silence, offering my prayers. It felt like the very ground still echoed with their final screams and hopes. The gallery and museum are beautifully preserved, telling stories not just of pain, but of resilience, unity, and the spirit of a people who rose from the ashes. Jallianwala Bagh is not just a place, it’s a pulse of India’s freedom, still beating through grief, still sacred.
Bella M — Google review
The Martyrs' Well, located at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar, Punjab, is a poignant and historic symbol commemorating one of the darkest and most tragic episodes in India's struggle for independence. It serves as a grim reminder of the horrific events that unfolded on April 13, 1919, during the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, when British colonial troops under Brigadier General Reginald Dyer opened fire on a peaceful gathering of Indian civilians. Jallianwala Bagh was a public garden enclosed by high walls with only narrow entrances, located near the Golden Temple in Amritsar. On that day, thousands of people had assembled at the Bagh to celebrate the Sikh festival of Baisakhi and were also protesting non-violently against the repressive Rowlatt Act imposed by the British government, which allowed imprisonment without trial. Without any warning or order to disperse, General Dyer ordered his soldiers to fire indiscriminately into the crowd for about ten minutes, firing 1,650 rounds of ammunition. As the gunfire rained down, many trapped inside the enclosed space tried to escape but found themselves blocked by soldiers at the narrow exits. In a desperate attempt to save their lives, several people jumped into the well inside the garden, which is now known as the Martyrs' Well. Tragically, many drowned or were injured in the fall. According to the memorial plaque, about 120 bodies were recovered from the well, making it a grim site of sacrifice and loss. Today, the Martyrs' Well is preserved as a protected monument within the Jallianwala Bagh memorial complex. It stands surrounded by a beautifully maintained garden, offering visitors a solemn and reflective space to remember the victims. The well has been covered with a transparent barrier to preserve its sanctity, and informational plaques provide historical context about the massacre and the people who perished trying to escape the bullets. The walls of the garden still bear the bullet marks inflicted during the shooting, and the narrow entrance through which General Dyer’s troops entered remains unchanged, helping visitors imagine the scene of panic and helplessness endured by the victims. The Jallianwala Bagh complex also includes a memorial designed by American architect Benjamin Polk, inaugurated in 1961, which honors the martyrs with the eternal flame called "Amar Jyoti" symbolizing their undying spirit. The massacre had profound consequences, becoming a turning point in India’s independence movement. It galvanized the Indian population and leaders, including Mahatma Gandhi, who called for a nationwide non-cooperation movement against British rule. The Martyrs' Well remains a testament to the sacrifices made by ordinary citizens for the freedom of India and stands as a symbol of courage, resistance, and the quest for justice. Visitors to the Martyrs’ Well are often moved by the tragic yet heroic stories encapsulated by the site. It serves as an important reminder of the brutal realities of colonial oppression but also of the indomitable human spirit that refuses to yield. The well and the memorial ensure that the legacy of those who lost their lives in Jallianwala Bagh is preserved for future generations, fostering reflection on the cost of freedom and the importance of peaceful resistance. In essence, the Martyrs' Well at Jallianwala Bagh is not only a historic landmark but also a powerful symbol of sacrifice and resilience in India's journey to independence. 💯💯💯💯💯🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍👍

Place where the freedom fighters fell into well when there was uninformed firing of bullets . The history says that, freedom fighters thought that ,it was better to die jumping to well and commit suicide than getting killed by the British people. Almost 120 bodies of Martyrs were recovered after the incident.

Beautiful renovation and the light and music show was very informative and intriguing. Must visit and attend the show which starts at 815 pm (Hindi version). Do visit this place before sunset to enjoy the rest of the bagh, as you won't be allowed to move around during the light and music show. And as soon as the show ends, the place is closed and you are asked to exit.

It's an amazing place. A tribute to 1919 jaliawala baag Martyrs. This park is now newly developed there are more gallary area they made in side the park. Where you can see the pictures of the jaliawala baag in those days and story behind it. Previously it has one entrence area and the same area I used for the exit. But no they isolate both now exit area is open up in the market area. Earlier there was no ticket system but looks like in the future they are planning a token system same a metro. Enterance also they chane notify can see the pictures on the walls. More green area and we'll maintained. Seriously I loved this place and it's just walkable distance from the golden temple. And you can cover this within 1 hr.

A Deeply Moving Experience. The Partition Museum offers a powerful and emotional journey through one of the most significant and tragic chapters of Indian history. Through personal stories, artifacts, and visuals, it brings to life the pain, resilience, and human spirit of 1947. A must-visit for anyone seeking to understand the true impact of the Partition.

The Partition Museum, located near Town Hall in Amritsar, is the world’s first museum dedicated to the memory of India’s Partition of 1947. It beautifully yet painfully captures the human stories, struggles, and resilience of millions who experienced one of the largest mass migrations in history. ✔️ Highlights: • Personal stories, letters, photographs, and belongings of refugees • Audio-visual exhibits narrating real-life experiences of Partition • Art installations and maps showing migration routes and refugee camps • Peace Wall with messages of hope and unity • Well-curated galleries that take you on a chronological journey of events before, during, and after Partition ⚠️ Things to keep in mind: • The atmosphere is emotional and heavy—be prepared for a moving experience • Allow 1.5–2 hours to explore fully • Photography is restricted in certain sections • Closed on Mondays—check timings before visiting ⭐ Overall: A powerful and emotional museum that makes history come alive through real human experiences. Visiting the Partition Museum is not just educational, but also deeply moving, reminding us of the value of peace and unity.

I recently visited the Partition Museum in Amritsar, and I really liked it. The museum is very informative and gives a deep insight into the history and emotions of the Partition of 1947. The displays, personal stories, and photographs are very moving and beautifully presented. It gives deep sense of emotions when we learn the sacrifices of the innocent made because of few people's greed, stubbornness and unplanned activity. Overall, it’s a must-visit place.

Great place to learn about partition, political scenario that led to it and its aftermath. There is lot of reading needed, wish there was more audio visual treatment. If you have time, do get an audio guide available at rs 100.

This partition museum is about how the actual partition happened between India and Pakistan who fought together for independence but demanded different countries for different religions The Partition Museum is a public museum located in the town hall of Amritsar, Punjab, India.[1] The museum aims to become the central repository of stories, materials, and documents related to the post-partition riots that followed the division of British India into two independent dominions: India and Pakistan. The museum also focuses on the history of the “anti-colonial movement, the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, the Komagata Maru incident, the All India Muslim League and the Indian National Congress, and the journey of resilience and recuperation for women”.The building wherein the museum is located in Amritsar was also “once the British headquarters and a jail”. The museum was inaugurated on 25 August 2017. Punjab In 1947, British India was divided into India and Pakistan. The partition lines, drawn on a map by the British lawyer Cyril Radcliffe, divided the province of Punjab and Bengal into two parts on the basis of religion. As a result, millions of people found themselves on the wrong side of the border overnight. According to various estimates, more than 800,000 Muslims, Hindus, and Sikhs were killed in the riots that followed the partition between August 1947 to January 1948. Additionally, more than 1,400,000 people became refugees.

The Partition Museum, located in Amritsar, Punjab, is a unique and deeply moving institution dedicated to the memory of the 1947 Partition of India. It's the first of its kind in the world, serving as a powerful memorial and a central repository for the stories, artifacts, and documents from that tumultuous period. A "People's Museum" The museum's core mission is to tell the human stories of the Partition. Instead of focusing solely on political events, it highlights the experiences of the millions of people who were displaced, lost their homes, and endured immense suffering. The museum's collection is built largely on oral histories and personal artifacts donated by survivors and their families—things like clothes, utensils, and letters that people carried with them as they fled their homes. Location and Exhibits The museum is housed in the historic Town Hall building in Amritsar, a fitting location given the city's close proximity to the India-Pakistan border and its central role in the events of 1947. The exhibits are arranged chronologically, taking visitors through the events that led up to the Partition, the mass migration and violence that followed, and the subsequent efforts of rehabilitation and resettlement. Through photographs, videos, audio recordings, and personal belongings, the museum creates a powerful and often heartbreaking narrative. Why It's Important The Partition was one of the largest mass migrations in human history, with millions of people displaced and an estimated one to two million killed. For decades, there was no dedicated memorial or museum to commemorate this event. The Partition Museum fills this void, ensuring that the stories of the survivors and the legacy of this historical event are not forgotten. It serves as a reminder of the human cost of political decisions and the resilience of those who rebuilt their lives after such a profound upheaval. This place is a must-visit for an authentic taste of Punjabi cuisine in Amritsar! The restaurant, with its expansive size and a variety of stalls offering delicious treats, is hard to miss, located conveniently near the Partition Museum. I highly suggest trying their signature dish, the "Rang Punjab Tasting Platter" – a delightful mix of traditional Punjab dishes. It was a burst of flavors that I thoroughly enjoyed. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Don't forget to explore the multiple stalls around the main restaurant, offering treats like hot Jalebi and teas – it's a must-try for all food enthusiasts!

Great pure vegetarian restaurant in the heart of Amritsar. The food here is fingerlicking delicious. The ambiance is creative and beautiful. Thoughtful interiors. Must try classic lassi, dal makhni and paneer bhurji here. The prices are a little on the expensive side but very well manageable. Quantity is good for 3 people.

It's a cozy and comfortable place is Amritsar city range with wide variety of Punjabi food or o would say it's only of its best place for based on sitting arrangement and enjoy food with in the old city of Amritsar. Their stuff are behaved and trained for hospitality!! and it's actually worth visiting though it's not that pocket friendly as compare to other near places in Amritsar but embiance can cover that amount 👍

"Naam bade aur darshan chhote" this quote is for Rang Punjab. Let me start with the good part. 1. Nice seating 2. Good ambience 3. Decent service Well, this place is lil bit on the expensive side. But that is not the problem. The actual problem is the food. We ordered Dal badi Pulav, palak paneer, chai, bun maska, khasta paratha and naan. The pulav looked like it was mixed and served with some old rice which was not sold earlier. The Bun was not fresh. Khasta paratha wasn't great either. Palak paneer was good. Decent chai. Overall it was a huge disappointment. And we paid alot for this kind of food. I dont recommend this place.

The menu offers a wide variety of delectable dishes, from traditional Indian fare like Amritsari kulcha and poori chole to international favorites like noodles with chili paneer. We found this place in the Lonely Planet guide, so we knew we could trust our choice. What we didn’t expect was the warm and familiar welcome from the owner, who was genuinely caring, taking the time to explain all the dishes and recommend the local specialties to try. We felt we had to leave this review so that tourists (and locals alike) who don’t have the guide won’t miss out on this amazing place.

After spending two and a half weeks in India, I wanted to try something different, so I ordered Chinese noodles. They were too salty for my taste, but the owner kindly offered to recook them. Gurdass Ram Jalebian Wala is a renowned establishment in Amritsar, known for its heavenly hot jalebis fried to perfection in pure ghee. The jalebis are freshly made right in front of you, ensuring maximum freshness and flavor. This small shop, located near the Golden Temple, offers an enchanting culinary experience with its traditional jalebi-making process that has remained unchanged over the years.
Tucked away in the vibrant lanes near the Golden Temple, Gurdasram Jalebi Wale is not just a sweet shop—it’s a legacy. For decades, this iconic corner of Amritsar has been delighting visitors with the kind of rich, nostalgic taste that only time-honored recipes and unwavering passion can deliver. Despite the humble setup—where you stand and relish your snacks on the spot—the experience is anything but ordinary. The jalebis, golden and glistening, strike a perfect balance between crispness and syrupy indulgence. Each bite bursts with flavor, delivering a warmth that feels handcrafted and soulful. Their gulab jamuns are equally divine—soft, melt-in-the-mouth spheres soaked in just the right amount of sweetness, without ever feeling overpowering. The texture, the aroma, and the taste all reflect a deep-rooted commitment to quality that has stood the test of time. Whether you’re a local or a traveler seeking an authentic culinary moment near the Golden Temple, Gurdasram is a must-visit. It’s more than just a sweet stop—it’s a celebration of Amritsar’s rich food heritage, served one impeccable bite at a time.

Gurudas Ram Jalebi is known for its Jalebi and Gulab Jamun. We tried only the Jalebi. it was fresh but on the thicker and less crunchy side; we personally prefer the thin, crispy type. The place isn’t immaculate, and the handwashing area is right next to where the food is prepared, which can be improved. It would be great if the local authorities and shop owners worked together to enhance hygiene, similar to how Indore has developed its street food zones.

If you’re walking through the old lanes of Amritsar, don’t miss this tiny shop. It doesn’t look fancy, but the jalebis here are amazing. When we went there, it wasn’t crowded, and we only waited five minutes while they made them fresh. The jalebis are — crispy, sweet, and super hot. We shared one portion, and that was enough for two because it’s really sweet. You have to eat it right away, standing on the street, since there’s no seating. They sell other snacks too, but the jalebi is the star. It’s a must-try if you love sweets!

This is located in Fairfield by marriott at Amritsar. The food quality is average or just Above average. We booked from Zomato. There was supposed to be a 35% off on total bill. The restaurant denied it and said that's only on food and not on drinks. Very strange. I complained to zomato they apologized and refunded. But the restaurant staff was not helpful and strange. We ordered a cocktail with olives. There were no green olives in the restaurant. Not marriott standards at all. The veg Platter was good. Dimsums were good. No complains. Atmosphere of the restaurant was good. But service can be improved. The manger did not know about the discount. And says we get very few bookings from zomato.

The noodles and honey chilli potato were perfectly cooked with just the right balance of spices, and the fresh lime soda was especially refreshing and tasty. A wonderful showcase of vibrant Punjabi culture and authentic local flavors! The live performances were engaging, and the overall ambiance truly reflected the rich heritage of Punjab. However, it would be great if the management could consider providing an air-conditioned resting area for elderly visitors and families with young children to relax comfortably. Also, while the traditional drink was refreshing, we were expecting lassi as mentioned—but it turned out to be buttermilk. Still, a memorable experience worth visiting!

Very nice place with little activities spread across the area. Food was also good, authentic dishes & taste. The people managing the activities were very warm & welcoming. Definitely worth a visit & aim to spend at least 4-5 hours to fully enjoy the place & participatein the activities (turban & paranda tying, mehndi, popcorn making, makki roti-saag tasting, village cinema, camel rides, etc.)

We visited Sadda Pind on Lohri day this January without realizing most places in Amritsar would be shut — even the Golden Temple had huge crowds. Our auto driver recommended we check out Sadda Pind, and we’re so glad we did! Even though we reached pretty late, the experience was so memorable. A group of aunties were sitting by a bonfire making makki di roti and sarson da saag — we sat with them, chatted, and had one of the coziest meals of our trip. The vibe was so warm and welcoming, even at closing time. We got to explore a few cultural setups, had a full-on tel malish (which was amazing in that freezing weather), and ended the night with a delicious buffet dinner — all-you-can-eat Punjabi food, both veg and non-veg, plus desserts. When we were done, the place was almost shut and we couldn’t find a ride back, but one of the staff kindly helped us get an auto. It was freezing but so much fun. Would definitely recommend visiting for a wholesome and heartwarming experience!

Its a kind of village museum which shows how the houses were built in villages of Punjab. Its a unique concept showcasing villages of Punjab. Also showcases rich and beautiful Punjabi culture. Their are many cultural performances like folk dances, artisan workshop like pottery, weaving and phulkari embroidery. Their are many games for kids, magic show, many photo points. You can enjoy traditional dishes like makke ki roti, sarso ka saag, bajra khichdi. The tickets include food which is based on buffet system, it has good variety in menu. Taste is authentic and all dishes were flavorful. Staff here is very kind, polite, attentive and ever smiling. Overall the property is well maintained and good value for money.

Food is very good,a rich punjabi cuisine. The staff is very polite. They have rooms for accommodation too. But little expensive on that part. I'm not sure if the meals are included. It gives a glimpse of rural life of Punjab in India. Activites are monotonous after a few visits. Good place for children. It's ok to visit one time especially for tourists visiting Attari Wagah border ceremony.

The architecture of the memorial is striking — the soaring central sword sculpture and flame symbolize valor and honor. The museum itself is beautifully designed and very well maintained. Inside, it’s not just about reading history — it’s an immersive experience. From the moment you enter, you’re taken through various galleries that showcase Punjab’s rich military history, dating back to ancient times through to the modern Indian Armed Forces. The exhibits include authentic weapons, uniforms, medals, and detailed accounts of famous battles. The 7D theater is a highlight — it gives a goosebump-inducing reenactment of war scenes that makes you feel the courage and sacrifice of our soldiers in a very real way. One section that really moved me was the display of letters, photographs, and stories of individual martyrs. It puts faces and emotions to the names we often hear. It’s a reminder of the real people and families behind the headlines. The museum staff are helpful and respectful, and the overall environment encourages quiet reflection. It’s not just for history buffs — it's a place every Indian should visit to truly understand the price of our freedom. I’ve uploaded a few photos from my visit, but honestly, no image can capture the emotional depth of this place. Salute to the heroes of Punjab and India. Jai Hind 🇮🇳

Huge space, has 8 galleries each needs 30 mins atleast. You can get a guide and also has a 7D show which we had to miss. Loved our time there, only advise dont underestimate and keep ample time specially if you are history buff. Museum covers wars from Sikh gurus to modern Kargil war and how Sikh regiments have contributed.
Deepak L — Google review
Very well maintained and it's nice to have a guide explaining each module and the sword figure is cool. Please avoid 7D show. It's very badly maintained and only first few minutes they explain abt Maharaja Ranjit Singh, next it's hellish with those seats and all the roller coaster video. I was sick after the show.
Nityashree G — Google review
You’ll need at least one full day to explore this place properly. There are both pros and cons when hiring a guide — the advantage is that you’ll understand the real stories behind the wars and unsung heroes that never made it to print media. The flip side is that most guides tend to rush through, so if you want to spend more time, you’ll have to set that expectation clearly. We had to rush to the Attari Border in the second half, so our guide wrapped up the tour in about 2 hours. The exhibits are interesting, but the show isn’t that impressive — it lacks a proper storyline and flow. They could’ve made it much better with a virtual tour or an interactive presentation covering all four major wars to provide a better context. The museum is co-owned by the Punjab State Government and the Ministry of Defence, and while the concept and structure are excellent, there’s still scope for better storytelling and visitor experience. Overall, a good place to visit if you’re interested in history and war stories — just make sure to plan enough time and get a good guide.

The museum is very very amazing, the statues, the stories worth every bit. But have atleast 4 hours to enjoy it fully. To fully enjoy, have a guide. Our guide was Kritika, she explained everything very well and is a very sweet lady who answers questions very well. Ask for her when you reach Gallery 1 soon after entry. Mesmerised with the Sikh culture, the war stories and the bravery of each and every soldier. 7D theatre is bit Ohkay but can try.
Yash L — Google review
Good place for a few hours visit enroute the border. Tickets are 150 per person, Hire a guide for 100 Rs for detailed information on all 8 galleries. 7D movie is for Rs 50 (movie is for about 10 minutes, and 5 minutes of 7D Roller coster ride)

The awesome place where we get to know about our real heroes. It is here that we realize the great sacrifices our martyrs made for us. Do take your children at least once, so they can learn about the history of Punjab, filled with stories of martyrdom.

This place related to sikhesim. History of this place - Guru Arjan Dev Ji,the fifth Sikh guru, had q large well constructed in this area. The well was so large that it required 6 persian wheels to operate.chheharta got its name from the six wheels, where six chhe (punjabi: ਛੇ) and the persain wheel is called hart (punjabi : ਹਰਟ). The well was now been covered, but its water is still pumped to feed the main tank of the Gurudwara.now developed as industrial township, chheharta falls within the revenue limits of Vadali Guru, a village one km to the south, where guru arjan stayed during 1594-97.

Spiritual place to feel the calm and serene environment. One can feel the positive energy oozing throughout this Holy Place. No problem of parking as there is plenty of space available. It gets crowded on some special occasions. So, on that day its better to plan your visit first before you get stuck in traffic chaos as one has to pass railway crossing before reaching there. I couldn't forget that day where i was stuck on the crossing for at least 3 hours. Hope this never happens to anyone. Anyhow, must go place if you want to feel the presence of God.

Khalsa College

Private college
Located opposite the Khalsa College, Punjab Naatshala hosts a Punjabi play called Saka Jallianwala Bagh once a month. The play, staged since June 2019, is written by Jatinder Brar and directed by Jaswant Mintu. It's an engaging two-hour show suitable for all ages. The college itself is known for its valuable educational facilities and beautiful campus.
Khalsa College, the premier-most institute of higher learning, was established by the leaders of the Singh Sabha Movement in 1892. They were inspired by the lofty ideals of the great Gurus. They planned it to be a growing institution which would strive forever to achieve high degree of excellence of mind and body for the welfare of the youth. The architectural grandeur of its buildings and layout of its campus clearly demonstrate the will of the founders Khalsa College, claims pre-eminence not only for its glorious past, but also because of its visionary outlook towards the future. It finds inspiration in the lofty ideals of the Great Gurus who have always advocated a progressive attitude of mind, giving up all that is dogmatic, according due value to intelligence and logic.

Historic architecture. Khalsa College in Amritsar, Punjab, is a historic institution renowned for its stunning architecture and cultural heritage. Established in 1892, the college's grand buildings and meticulously maintained grounds reflect its rich legacy, making it a visually captivating and inspiring place. The campus, with its lush greenery and majestic structures, undoubtedly deserves a 7 out of 10 for its aesthetic and historical significance. However, despite its impressive exterior, Khalsa College struggles to deliver a high-quality academic experience. The education level at the institution leaves much to be desired, with outdated curricula and teaching methods that do not meet modern standards. Students often find themselves yearning for more rigorous academic challenges and better learning resources. Consequently, the college scores only a 4 out of 10 in terms of educational quality. In summary, Khalsa College is a jewel in terms of its physical and historical presence, offering an environment rich in heritage and beauty. However, to truly honor its legacy and provide a well-rounded educational experience, significant improvements in academic standards and teaching methods are essential.

If you are in Amritsar then please see this ancient architectural marvel although I am not sure how one can enter this place but it's beautiful. I guess many films have been shot here as well. This Khalsa College spreads around 3 km alongside GT road and appears not to be less than a kings palace.
Pratik P — Google review
Khalsa College in Amritsar, a premier educational institution, is located on Grand Trunk Road. Established in 1892 by leaders of the Singh Sabha Movement, it was envisioned to provide higher education to the Sikh and Punjabi communities. The college's sprawling 300-acre campus and its striking architectural design, created by the renowned architect Ram Singh, make it a historical landmark in itself. The college building is a magnificent example of Indo-Saracenic architecture, beautifully blending traditional Indian and Mughal styles. The main structure, with its large domes, arches, and intricate details, reflects the grandeur and rich cultural heritage of Punjab. This impressive design gives the campus a unique and timeless character, making it a prominent architectural gem in the region. Khalsa College offers a wide range of academic disciplines, with numerous departments covering various fields of study. These include departments in Arts, Sciences, Commerce, and Agriculture, among others. The college is affiliated with Guru Nanak Dev University and has a strong focus on research, with a dedicated Sikh History and Research Centre. Beyond its academic contributions, Khalsa College serves as a symbol of cultural and historical pride. Its founding was a significant step in the educational and social upliftment of the community. Today, it remains a pillar of learning and a testament to the vision of its founders, continuing to uphold its legacy as a leading educational center in Punjab.

I'm being honoured to be in this prestigious University/College. Such a grand place. Meet some students and looks very proud of themselves for being member of the univesity. They gave me the most warm welcome. A good place to be for small numbers or single traveller and not for big tour groups as this is a university. Needs to honour their privacy. Place not to be miss while you are in Amritsar.

Brothers Dhaba

North Indian restaurant
Brothers Dhaba is a vibrant and casual dining spot that offers a variety of vegetarian northern Indian dishes. Situated near the Golden Temple in Amritsar, it's a popular choice for those craving authentic North Indian cuisine. The menu features favorites like Aloo Gobi, Paneer Butter Masala, and creamy Dal Makhani. With its bustling atmosphere, generous portions, and warm hospitality, Brothers Dhaba is a must-visit for food enthusiasts exploring the area.
Brothers Dhaba – Where Comfort Food Gets a Punjabi Punch Born out of the same culinary roots as its elder sibling, Brothers Dhaba brings its own flavor to the table — quite literally. While it shares the legacy, it carves a different path, blending tradition with a touch of home-style flair. Step inside and you’re welcomed with aromas that feel instantly familiar — like walking into your grandma’s kitchen on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Let’s talk Kadhi Chawal. It’s got that perfect tang, poured over fluffy rice, and finished with a drizzle of desi ghee that ties it all together. A side of crisp onions adds the crunch you didn’t know you needed. It’s comfort food that hugs you back. And the Rajma Chawal? Oh, it’s dreamy. Silky-soft kidney beans in a rich, slow-cooked gravy that’s clearly made with love and a lot of patience. The kind of rajma that doesn't need bells or whistles — just a spoon, a quiet moment, and maybe a nap afterward. Brothers Dhaba doesn’t just serve food — it serves nostalgia, in generous portions. Pro Move: Sneak in that extra plate of Kadhi Chawal. Even if you’re full, you’ll find the space. And yes, it’s totally worth it. 📍Located right by Town Hall, Amritsar — sharing walls with legacy, but standing strong on its own.

There are lot of mixed reviews of this place but the place is actually good to dine. The food is fantastic with authentic flavours. Daal Makhni, Paneer, Chhole everything is wonderful. Lachha parathas are very unique and crispy, not eaten anywhere else in the country. Staff is very friendly and serves you really well. Serving time is not long. The desserts however are average and can be avoided. Food here is a must try, specially their thali. Highly Recommended. Located right in vicinity if Golden Temple, you are very likely to love their food.
Harshit A — Google review
Had a great experience at Brother’s Dhaba in Amritsar! The food was flavorful and satisfying, but the highlight for me was definitely the amazing Amritsari Kulche—crispy on the outside, perfectly stuffed, and served with delicious chole and chutney. The mango lassi was another winner—thick, creamy, and refreshing, just the way it should be. Portion sizes were generous, making it great value for money. The place has a casual, lively vibe and quick service too. A must-visit if you’re in Amritsar and craving authentic Punjabi food!
Soumee B — Google review
A must-visit spot near the Golden Temple for anyone craving authentic Punjabi comfort food. The chole bhature, rajma chawal, and paneer dishes are full of flavor and generously portioned. Service is quick and efficient, even during rush hours. The place is usually crowded, but the turnaround time is fast, making it ideal for tourists on the go. 💡 Tip: Try the lassi — it's thick, creamy, and served chilled in a steel tumbler. Best visited during early lunch or late dinner hours to avoid long queues.

This place serves amazing Amritsari kulcha and choor choor naan. The food tastes really good and is of good quality. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the service is quick. The prices are a bit high, but it's worth it for the delicious food. This is on the way to wagha border and will recommend this place than any other places for kulchas.
Bhargav M — Google review
I recently visited this restaurant and had a very unpleasant experience. While eating, I discovered a black worm on my plate, right in the middle of the food. This is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about the hygiene and food safety standards of this place. Despite the food being otherwise decent, such a lapse in cleanliness cannot be ignored. It not only ruined the meal but also made me question how the kitchen is being maintained. I hope the management takes immediate action to improve hygiene and ensure this does not happen to anyone else. Customers trust you with their health — don’t take it lightly. Not recommended unless they take visible corrective steps.

This place is clean and you will see many non-Indian tourists. Large menu. The food was good but expensive. My wife's fried shrimp was a generous portion while my Lamb Josh Rogan was rather small. Good choices for alcoholic beverages. The service was good but a little pushy. As others have mentioned, there is a 10% service charge added to the bill so we didn't leave an additional tip. I hope that 10% went to the employees.
