This place is truly a gem and my absolute favourite. Steeped in history, the wood-fired oven is a magnificent sight to behold and a real treat to experience in person. I have had the pleasure of trying their baguette, croissant, chocolatine, pain aux raisins, quiche aux poireaux, and flammekueche. Each item is simply delightful and delicious. The atmosphere is incredibly warm and welcoming, with a family-friendly vibe that makes every visit a pleasure. I simply adore this place and highly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic French boulangerie experience.

Best croissant and pain au chocolate we had in France! Their bread was also great! All freshly baked in an old wood fired oven of 1765! A great experience if you are in Bordeaux!

Authentic, and old! This place dates back to 1765, during the reign of King Louis XV. They still bake the bread, and pastries in the same oven and I swear I could taste history in each bite of my quiche. There is a grand table up the back, close to the oven, that a group of men were celebrating a birthday. It was a great setting, and everyone was having a great time.

Excellent bakery with friendly service and prices. We came in for sandwiches, but they weren't available on the weekend...their wraps and treats were yummy, though! Don't miss the brioche.

Viennoiseries and cakes are great. But at lunch time, they have a good selection of sandwiches. They had only one non-meat sandwich, but it was very tasty. Both times I went to, there was a queue of people waiting along the narrow store waiting to pay for their selections.

Gorgeous boulangerie, with one of the most impressive ranges of bread across Bordeaux. Lemon tart was perfectly balanced, definitely recommend!

Baguette is really good, pastries are excellent and the cakes are absolutely amazing. I recommend the pavlova which is absolutely delish. Closed on Mondays but opens at 7:30am all the other days of the week.

Beautiful cafe, with photography on the walls and a pretty garden with birds. The canelés were amazing and would go back just for them only. However, I got bread and a few cakes and all we're pretty plain, no rich favours just sugar. Very pretty to look at. A bit disappointing as they are dedicated to just gluten free. Good service and atmosphere.

Completely gluten-free boulangerie. As a non-celiac person, I still really enjoyed each pastry. You can tell that they’re not traditional products and there’s something slightly different about the dough, but once you realize they’re entirely gluten-free, you can truly appreciate them. The place itself is very artistic, with beautiful photographs and even a small art gallery inside.

A wonderful find for someone like me who follows a largely gluten-free diet! There was an extensive selection of baked goods: cakes, breads, pastries, and even savory options with delicious toppings. Everything was presented in the typically culinary and aesthetic French way. The beautiful courtyard terrace, in the classic Bordeaux style, makes it the perfect place to start my day in Bordeaux from now on. There’s also a small art exhibition to enjoy. Lovely young staff and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Best gluten free bakery I have ever been too. Everything was amazing thank you very much from a very grateful coeliac 😍

The fig tart, cannelés, and gâteau basque were delicious! I also really enjoyed being in their lovely terrace, and it is fantastic that they allow dogs. It was great to have a few savoury options (sandwiches, quiches, etc..), however the quiche was very bland and disappointing. The bread in the sandwiches was nice as it didn’t crumble away like a lot of gluten-free bread, but it was quite dry. The flan wasn’t particularly tasty, and I would really recommend having the gateau basque instead. Drinks: I was pleasantly surprised by the wide variety of hot and cold drinks on offer. Service: Finally, when I got home I realised that I paid for items that weren’t packed in my takeaway bag. The staff were trying their best to cope with the very high demand which made things quite difficult for them. Fully celiac safe as everything is gluten-free.

Amazing food, decor and ambiance and concept. Don’t miss this in Bordeaux thank you for making our holiday with all delicious gluten free options. Every town should have a BAG art gallery. The eating areas outside and inside are amazing.

I wish i could give it a 0 but since the lowest grade available is 1, that is what i will give it. I saw this place on google maps, i thought its rating was good that’s why i decided to give it a try. So we opted for a caramel popcorn flan, which looked and tasted nothing like a flan. I was given by the lady the flan with The top side of the flan broken i saw 2 pieces of flans in this bakery and i was given the broken one. That’s it for aesthetics, let’s talk about taste now, the caramel popcorn? Well no taste of popcorn? The caramel was burnt so it had an unpleasant bitter and ashy taste. The crumble was passable (i would even say not buttery enough). The real issue is on the inside. It looked and tasted nothing like a flan. By colour alone, it was too white already to be close to an authentic golden flan. The texture was tragic. The cream was curdled and lumpy, unlike a classic smooth and silky flan. Tastewise it was lifeless. Completely bland to the point of indifference. It was like bititng into an uneven mush of water and flour. Even a drop of vanilla extract could have salvaged something. Overall, we cannot consider this a flan it tasted nothing like a flan, and considering it’s price of 6€ i would not recommend it to anyone.

Fantastic local market in Bordeaux. Wonderful fresh produce and interesting snacks to buy. Unfortunately, it was a public holiday, so not everything was open, but still enjoyed it. We bought strawberries, fish, cheeses, and other fruit and vegetables

A nice market to visit. We enjoy having the truffle cheese and Bleu d'Auvergne from the cheese store there too (it’s the stall right at the entrance, with a green signboard). Shop owners were kind and patient in explaining things to us.

Good place for early risers to check out a local market. Good selection of raw seafood, meats and even good wine and pastry. Easy walking from our Airbnb

A little disappointing. Not full of stalls by any measure. Produce that was there was good but felt a bit run down.

Impressive market with lots to offer. It is under a roof and seems to have a parking deck on top of it? The stands are packed in and quite large. The smells and sights of the fresh foods overwhelm the senses. Lots of seafood, fresh veggies, bread, cheeses, meats, and even some stands selling household goods, etc. on the outskirts. We went on a Friday and it was fairly crowded, but I imagine it to be bustling on the weekend. There are a few bars/restaurants in each quadrant as well.

2.1€ for a small one. I think that it's too expensive, it is tasty tho. My guess is that there are more authentic and cheaper places that offer a better experience overall

First and last Time here. Shocking service. Coffee good when it finally was made. Girl seemed more interested in talking with other worker than making the Coffee. Other customers complained also. I'd give lower stars if allowed. Shame really, as it's located in a prime area.

Awful rude service. Avoid. Particularly the serving girl with the beauty mark who clearly hates her job. If they offer a ’long’ coffee, do not expect it to come with any milk, it is also as bitter as all hell. We had no idea what a ‘long’ Coffee was, we asked for Coffee Grande ( which has always got me a medium coffee- not an expresso). When I asked for milk, she was rude as (swear word) and charged us another £1.20 for the privilege. So, not expensive ( about €3 for a coffee) but so disgusting bitter that you can barely drink it, with diabolically rude service Don’t get me started on the disgusting state of the toilet. The tourist office should NOT be directing tourists here, ( we were offered a free cake on the bus tour) unless they want us to think that Bordeaux is the rudest place on earth! Don’t bother coming in - there’s more atmosphere in McDonalds.

Very nice canelés, a bit too expensive comparing with other shops. But also not so oily like others. Try also the ones with caramel and praline, loved it but need to say we don’t really get to appreciate the canelé per se.. it’s more like a chocolate

I recommend this place to buy the caneles which is their famous pastry they do it sooo good !! So for gifting someone you can buy boxes of plain ones or dipped in chocolate or They also have a kit for making you own at home. They have normal macarons that I don’t really recommend but they have macarons of Nancy which is a different type of macarons that aren’t filled with cream and that are a bit crunchy, I recommend you try them there.

Baillardran, renowned for its canelés, faced legal action in early 2025 for consumer fraud. The company was fined €100,000 after it was revealed that some products were frozen and contained artificial flavoring, despite claims of using fresh, natural ingredients. Employees reported being instructed to misinform customers about the freshness of the cakes

Good coffee and canelés. Shame about the appalling service and poor hygiene at the seating area and the restroom. They did not clean tables after patrons left we had to ask for this to be done. The restroom had no toilet paper and when asked for it one staff said: we do not have any toilet paper left. Luckily his colleague went to check and brought a new roll to the restroom. All in all, I would not go back to this branch of Baillardran, as the staff does not know the meaning of service.

Sensational bakery. Pastries stuffed with pralines seem to be their thing so we tried the praline brioche and the praline flan. Both were fantastic. They also serve coffee and there are a few small tables with stools to have a seat, space permitting. Service was very friendly and so patient with our English french. The way they set out our two items for dining in was done with such care. Thanks, team! Update: returned for more and the praline Choco croissant is must try too! Almond croissant is also fabulous.

I love it here, I saw this boulangerie on a youtu.be blogs of Bordeaux, now I have pass this place on many occasion but never give it a 2nd glance. But today i decided to pop in. I ordered a parisienne along with a cafe, and for takeaway a brioche praline ( their speciality). All delicious.

Great boulangerie/patisserie with excellent and highly recommended praline brioche and one of the best canelés we had while in Bordeaux. It is a small space with limited seating and rustic vibes. Cappuccinos were good, and we experienced very friendly service who were happy to make recommendations. Clearly a popular place for locals and tourists alike

I would leave 10/5 points if possible. Very kind and welcoming staff, amazing pastries and salty options for breakfast and lunch. The place was constantly full with locals, speaking also for the quality of the food. We went there twice in 3 days and were not disappointed. Everyone was patient with us and explaining us the different pastries! Thank you very much for the warm welcoming.

I read a review here that said you shouldn’t miss their croissants, so the next morning before my trip I went to this pastry shop, I am not a breakfast person and would rarely eat croissants, so I chose the criochoc and it was definitely a nice chouce as the the croissant had a praline filling other than the chocolate, the buttery dough added to the experience. So take the advice and go try this shop.

Half of the pastry shelves we empty. Maybe because it's Monday afternoon? Also, I ordered coffee to consume inside the shop and got it served in paper cups. The lady at the counter was fast and friendly but I didn't like the taste of the coffee nor the lack of china and was sad about the small variety of pastries to choose from.

Everything I've tried is fresh, flavorful and clearly made with love. The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy—perfect for grabbing a quick coffee and pastry. Highly recommend!!

I’ve been there several times now. I love their pastries, the bread, the sandwiches. One of the best around in the centre of Bordeaux ! Try it, but be aware you might miss out if you don’t go in early. Enjoy!

Amazing little bakery, we ordered a chocolate croissant and a normal croissant and it was delicious. The orange juice was very fresh and sweet, recommend! Also the cappuccino is worth it. We spend in total 10,9 euros, I would say is cheap for France.

Just here on holidays. We got a quiche Lorraine and two cookies for afternoon tea. Holy heck they're SO GOOD. We're definitely coming back tomorrow to try more things (or maybe just get more of those cookies). We got a praline and something one and a pistachio, white choc and berries one. They were soft and flavoursome and not too sweet. The quiche was also top notch, she heated it up for us in a little toaster oven.

Delicious pastries, I tried the almond croissant and the pain au raisin and both were fantastic. Keep in mind there is no seating.

Really nice small bakery in Bordeaux. I have visited after seeing it in the Meilleur Boulangerie de France television series on M6. I tried their croissant as well as their cinnamon viennoiserie that looked like little pieces of croissant dough stuck together by delicious cinnamon and sugar butter mixture. The croissant was really nice, after tasting so many croissants in France this year I can say it was amongst the better ones though not THE best one. Nevertheless it was still delicious and I don't think you would be disappointed. It's flaky and buttery and very well laminated! The cinnamon pastry was recommended to me and it didn't disappointed though I preferred the pure croissant as this one was maybe a touch too sweet for me but that is personal taste :) Would recommend!

An overall great boulangerie, would highly recommend! Things that I ate here which were showstopping: - fondant au chocolat (a.k.a. molten chocolate cake, a.k.a. pure joy), - kouign-amann (or "the fattiest pastry in all of Europe", accoring to the New York Times), - flan, - croissant, - baguette. And things that were a little more average: - pain au chocolat, - pain aux raisins.

homemade breads and cakes, lots of different flours, the only difficulty will be to choose. If I must choose, I'd recommend especially nuts crème brûlée, petit épautre bread and babka !

Cool atmosphere in Darwin neighborhood. Huge place divided in different areas where you can go for a drink or take food. There is also an outside area full of lights at night. The staff is professional al thought there is no table service as usually known. We tried hamburgers and they were delicious.

Great atmosphere, the venue is very cool and it's surrounded by local art, skaters and graffiti. Had lunch at the self-service restaurant because the main restaurant closes before 14:00 (a bit disappointed). Everything is bio, sustainable and vegan friendly (hence the high prices). Big space but very busy, a bit unsatisfied with the staff. Food was good.

We went for brunch here. It's about the closest to an American style brunch I've had. All u can eat. Good assortment of freshly made with variety of drinks (alcohol extra). Not haut cuisine, (think quantity not quality) but fair at 24€. Urban eco style with rehabbed couches and pallets makes for a cool ambience. Get reservations a week in advance. Very locals place.

Although I love Darwin and the concept, they definitely have to look into their kitchen and what they offer to people! I’ve tried the brunch one time and was tasteless and expensive, then I gave it a second chance with a lunch... same thing and now just had 2 pièces of uncooked and tasteless very heavy quiche with some “organic chips” that were completely off and paid 12€ for it. I will definitely not come back to eat any of what they propose as it’s overrated, not tasty and lacks of love!

I am not sure if we went on an off day but the pastries were dry and old. I’m pretty sure they were not from that day. We bought a selection and every single item was stale and tasteless (we bought them at 9 am). The best thing thing about the items we bought were the price. Very cheap! We did however go to Ceres and they were just fanatic. Moist, yet flaky and full of flavour.

Great location and lovely staff. The pastries weren’t quite what we expected. Quite bready rather than crispy (I think liking the texture is personal preference rather than an issue), however the taste was good. We got a mixed berry and chocolate pistachio one.

We had vanilla+choco roll, a pistachio roll and baguette michelin. The rolls were huge and very tasty! Baguette crispy and just as you would expect a French baguette to taste like. The prices seemed too low for such delight!

Really enjoyed the jésuite! The pain au chocolat was pretty good as well. They were friendly and we enjoyed watching them bake the pastries through the window.

Chocolatine was not as crispy as expected, but the flavor is still good! Great service too. It was a little bit of a wait though, long line.

Some of the best, most delicious pastries I’ve had in France! The almond croissant was to die for. I love how each pastry is not too sweet. They focus more on yummy textures of the pastries. Wonderful balance of crunchy, warm, soft, and chewy. Also the portions are huge for the low price you pay! I ordered two big pastries and they were 3.5 euros total. Great deal. Exceptional quality. Absolutely delicious. Will be going back everyday for the rest of my vacation.

Delicious Dunes Blanches, a must try if in Bordeaux. We visited on a pastry tour (which I would also highly recommend). Plenty of coffee shops nearby to pair with your pastry.

Small bakery that only sells and specialises in one sort of small pastry - which was incredible! They're crispy on the outside while being filled with an airy cream. They're so light that you can easily polish off multiple yourself! We had the original one and the chocolate flavour - both were delicious but I think I preferred the original

Excellent variety! I got 4 different types of pastry today, my favourite was the pistachio, with the classic one coming in a close 2nd. Tiramisu and lemon were a miss. The total was 5.5€. They have a steal deal going on where you can get 6 classics for 5.9€ so i am going back tomorrow to grab a box for my husband! Delightful find.

The most fabulous dunes blanches. Crunchy exterior and as advertised light and airy cream filling. The blueberry one was heavenly. I wish these traveled well because my kids would have loved them too.

Excellent, the place is bright, has an ancient / modern feel to it, theservice is friendly, quick. The pastries are as good as they are nice to look at, the precision is visible and the taste very balanced which is something I find lacking in most pastries shops relying to heavily on sugar. We tried the black forest cake, the Matcha and the Japanese cake. What else? They make excellent Cappucinnos!!

The atmosphere inside is quiet, cozy, and relaxing — a perfect spot to enjoy some sweets or spend time with a book. There’s a wide variety of food to choose from, and everything looks as good as it tastes. The desserts and drinks were both delicious and beautifully presented. I discovered this Patisserie thanks the local guide in Google Maps.. and I decided to test. My friends, this place is really beautiful. Set in the city centre pf Bordeaux, from the first second you feel very welcome. The staff is really friendly. Just 5 or 6 tables inside. The small cakes look really nice to see,  and the teste is amazing delicious. I think it's the best cake that I have eaten. Light, not so much sugar, absolutely perfect. You feel Also you can see, how the Chefs Patisseries make them. Maybe 0,50 or 1 euro more the others city patisserie but believe me the quality of Patisserie S is really superior. I bought also a big Forest Noir, for 6 people and the price was right just 30 euros.  I really recommend this place..

Patisserie S. is so beautiful!! We tried three cakes for two because we couldn’t decide... Everything was so delicious, the best cakes we ever had. Many of their cakes/bakeries had a unique touch of Japan - which was my favorite part. Can’t wait to go back again!!

A beautiful space with amazing pastries. We found the place while walking by to get to our Airbnb. Later, came in for coffee/tea with eclair and strawberry cake 🍰. The strawberry cake is light and fluffy, not too sweet. The space is gorgeous with the Roman arch, chic French cafe style tables and local artists’ art hanging. The service is excellent. Of course, we had to come back again later to get croissants and other pastries for breakfast. Croissants 🥐 are buttery and crunchy on top. The melon bread is pretty and reminiscent of a Hong Kong breakfast bread called “pineapple bread”.

All the staff were friendly, even to tourists like us who speak only broken French so that was really helpful. The sweets we had were good but not extraordinary. Maybe I had my hopes too high. The interior of the place is terrible. It looks like it has not been upgraded for a long time. The chairs and tables look really cheap. There is an ugly table with a vivid green cloth (to hide the ugly table) in the middle of the cafe, blocking the space. The decoration they have for Christmas looked not professionally done. Due to the structure of the place, you can see all the way to the kitchen area. I usually like a cafe or a restaurant with an open kitchen but the decoration of the area in this cafe made the entire place look not polished/sophisticated enough to show the kitchen area directly when customers go into the place.

If I had to pick a favourite bakery in Bordeaux after visiting many of them during my visit, this would be it. Always warm baguette, amazing selection of delicious pastries - Apple Tartelettes were my favourite.

We walked past this bakery store and saw all the awards and recommendation signatures out on their main entry so decided to give it a try. Bought a ham & cheese sandwich and francaccia bread! They both were so freshly made and delicious 😋. There are various types of bakeries and pastries on offer, and they are looking so great! Definitely worth trying this place if you are around in town.

Stumbled upon this place while shopping on Rue du Pas-Saint-Georges and it was the perfect place to stop for a quick bite to eat. The raisin croissant and ham and cheese baguette were my favorites!

Super cute patisserie with great coffee and pastries. The quiche was perfect moist and tasty. Each pastry was nicely crafted but our favourites were the pistachio, lemon-basil, puff pastry with brownie inside. Most of all we appreciated the coffee. All were at a super high level. Beautifully brewed and nice varieties. We had geisha, Ethiopia and the blend. Nice guys running the place. They are also dog friendly.

Most polite service you can imagine. Such nice staff! Lovely little place with delectable pastries made in-house and a variety of coffees, including pour over and batch brew filter coffee. Their choice of coffees is on the lighter roast side, so if you're not into acidity, get that sugar ready. Coffee is prepared with utmost care and is served at perfect temp. The shop is located within walking distance from the local market, so it's a good place to stop by on the way there or back. Great value!

Chouette is a true gem in Bordeaux. Chef Xavier and his wife have truly elevated French pastries to the next level! Xavier is a truly passionate and talented artisan. You can taste this in every bite. Fresh fruits and ingredients are used. The creations are light and not too sweet. Even lactose intolerant person like me can totally enjoy his masterpieces.

Great for a quick breakfast. It’s one of the few boulangeries and patisseries that open early. They have coffee too. Do know that there is no seating available, so this is just for to-go orders. We ate our breakfast at the tram station across the street where there were benches but it still was a nice experience.

Baguette was really good, salad with ham was just ok, as the ham was very good, lettuce was crisp, but tomatoes were unripe. Cream puffs were good but not amazing.

We were leaving Bordeaux headed for Tarbes and we bought a lot of items for the journey. The young lady that helped us was amazing. We kept adding more sandwiches, desserts and beverages and she even asked if we'd like to make our order a "menu" because we'd save a little bit of money. That gesture was very sweet and very appreciated by us. We thank her, whoever she was. And, as a bonus, the food was delicious.

I had a blast trying a bunch of the flavours. I love the variety they have! They were all great, but the white chocolate pecan was my favourite. The textures and ingredients are incredible. What a delightful, decadent treat!!!

Best cookies hands down, in France or even in the US! You can taste the quality of the products, pretty magical! Some might say little drops of heaven ;) I’m Looking forward to trying each cookie! A really good address for no brainer treats that will surely satisfy everyone!

The mango cheesecake-like dessert was refreshing and unique, and the chocolate choux with nuts was rich, indulgent, and perfectly balanced. The cappuccino was creamy and smooth—just right. What surprised me even more was the price. For three desserts and three coffees, it was only around 50 euros, which is more than reasonable for the quality and experience. You can really feel the care and detail in everything. This place definitely deserves an honorary 5-star review. Can’t wait to come back!

We had to revise our order twice, which was frustrating for an establishment of this caliber. Beautiful place. Overpriced. Cakes look amazing however they are unsatisfying. When you receive the bill then it becomes a questionable experience and service. 8€ got a small cup of tee. Matcha latte also 8€ plus 1€ extra for almond milk. Even Starbucks has cheaper prices. It took us around 20 minutes to be able to pay and ask several staff members. Finally, we got and could leave. Looking for a NICE breakfast in Bourdeaux? DONT LOOK ANY FURTHER. We stumbled upon this hotel/restaurant on the last day of our trip and were thoroughly impressed. The food was exceptional, and the ambiance transported us to another scene. We enjoyed croissants and pastries, and we would have had a full breakfast if we hadn't already eaten. This place is a must-visit when in Bordeaux.

Delicious! We went on Sunday morning, and they were baking fresh bread as we came in. The chocolatine is the best we’ve had in Bordeaux and the cinnamon roll is 🤩. We also bought a few breads, that are just as delicious. We learned about them from Les Récoltants, where we had an entree made from their bread. Amazing bread shop ( Boulangerie). As a coffee person I don’t usually come here for the bread but instead I come for the soft chocolate cake which is amazing. During my visits I ended up buying their bread and it’s is better than many other places. Also the long waiting outside the shop is living evidence of their excellent quality.

The best place to go for coffee and locally made patisseries. We had a selection of plain croissants, almond croissants and a biscuit based kind of cake called a “pauline”, made with fresh strawberries and a crème patisserie, out of this world! There is a nice, clean seating area too. Will definitely come back!
