Le Bouchon Bordelais is a cozy bistro located in the heart of Bordeaux, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Chef Frederic Vigouroux's popular restaurant features rich, meat-oriented regional dishes paired with Bordeaux wines. The menu is market-driven and changes seasonally to showcase the best local products. Diners can enjoy a variety of dishes, from chilled pea-and-watercress soup to lamb bayaldi with pecorino.
Both the front and the back of the house were at the top of their game when I visited as a solo diner on a Friday night. I opted for a 6 course dinner with wine pairings. A memorable experience!
Stan D — Google review
Came here on a Tuesday evening after making a reservation online for 8:15. They aptly call it a cozy restaurant because the tables were already 75% full in spite of opening at 8pm and new arrivals had to squeeze in sideways to get to their seat. The tables nearby had many couples, 1 singleton, groups of friends, even a dog (first time seeing this while in Bordeaux). The service is 100%+ positivity and energy and joy. Their excitement and authentic desire to make your evening special is palpable. I was impressed at their speed of speech in both French and English. They offer a 4 or 6-dish set. We chose the 4. The entrees were okay. The plat and dessert were divine. The restaurant feels like a happening place to be. It is definitely fun to sit near the wall and people watch. Thank you for a fun night!
Nina V — Google review
This was a wonderful dining experience. Everything from the atmosphere to the food and the service was fantastic. Every single dish was delicious and unique. The wine pairings were perfect. Both of our servers were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the food and wine. I wish we had gone here earlier during our trip so that we could have eaten here twice.

Highly recommended! The set menu makes dining here super easy, no stress about what to order. Every dish is packed with amazing, complex flavors that will have you reaching for extra bread to soak it all up. YUMMY! 🤤

Delicious food and wine served up by lovely and knowledgeable servers. Trust the chefs, they know what they are doing. Absolutely delightful in every way.
Ronilo L — Google review
Not to be missed. The 4 or 6 prix fixe dinner is super. We opted to not have the wine pairing but rather fewer glasses of wine recommended by the wait staff. It is Bordeaux, there is no bad wine.
James B — Google review
We wanted to go for some really good French food. This is the spot. The service, atmosphere, and food were all marvelous. And the staff are top notch. They understand all of the dishes and wine, where they come from, and how they work together. Treat yourself and have dinner here.

Marché des Capucins, located in Bordeaux, France, is a long-established market known for its local produce, cheese, wine, and prepared foods. This bustling marketplace offers a wide variety of items including fresh baked pastries, locally sourced products, and French delicacies. Visitors can explore the stalls to find an array of options such as freshly sliced cheese and family-produced wines.
One of the best sea food options, fresh, accessible prices. It’s a must visit in Bordeux. Open only during the morning to 2 pm, be sure to add it to your list for a good gambas, crab or oysters 😏😋😋😋

Fantastic local market in Bordeaux. Wonderful fresh produce and interesting snacks to buy. Unfortunately, it was a public holiday, so not everything was open, but still enjoyed it. We bought strawberries, fish, cheeses, and other fruit and vegetables
Melinda C — Google review
A nice market to visit. We enjoy having the truffle cheese and Bleu d'Auvergne from the cheese store there too (it’s the stall right at the entrance, with a green signboard). Shop owners were kind and patient in explaining things to us.
Janet L — Google review
Good place for early risers to check out a local market. Good selection of raw seafood, meats and even good wine and pastry. Easy walking from our Airbnb
Fook-Main H — Google review
It’s always nice to see what they have in the local market, isn’t it ? !
Kamala N — Google review
A little disappointing. Not full of stalls by any measure. Produce that was there was good but felt a bit run down.
Malcolm L — Google review
Nice market, lots of fresh and prepared foods. Not too busy on a weekday.
Kari Q — Google review
Impressive market with lots to offer. It is under a roof and seems to have a parking deck on top of it? The stands are packed in and quite large. The smells and sights of the fresh foods overwhelm the senses. Lots of seafood, fresh veggies, bread, cheeses, meats, and even some stands selling household goods, etc. on the outskirts. We went on a Friday and it was fairly crowded, but I imagine it to be bustling on the weekend. There are a few bars/restaurants in each quadrant as well.

Wine bar
Le Bar à Vin is a stylish wine bar that offers a selection of approximately 30 Bordeaux wines in a space adorned with art. It is owned by the organization promoting Bordeaux wine globally, offering an array of wines including first growth (grand crus) and top Bordeaux selections at reasonable prices. The bar features knowledgeable sommeliers and a modern ambiance, serving wine by the glass ranging from 1 to 8 euros.
Beautiful building to stop by for a glass or two of wine! Diverse selection and affordable prices. It’s more of an order & enjoy kind of vibe - not traditional wine tasting where the sommelier explain the wine & pairings. A great place to stop by when in Bordeaux!
Jess — Google review
Such a fun and relaxed wine bar to hang out at, open conveniently until 9:45 PM. Their Château Labadie Côtes de Bourg is absolutely exceptional—smooth, rich, and Bold. It’s the kind of wine that leaves a lasting impression and keeps you coming back. I’ve already found myself planning a third visit. A fun place for wine lovers!
AD — Google review
Perfect spot to taste all sorts of Bordeaux wines at their best price in town, considering the large and diverse selection that changes regularly. Generous pours as well. Food platters of cured meat, cheese or foie gras. Sometimes there is a line to get a table but it’s worth waiting. (Portions of cheese platters seems much smaller recently…) Service can be long at times, if you go in the afternoon, apparently they had only 2 guys serving and they were rushing left and right, hard to catch their attention to place an order, ask for water,…) However the whole lost of wines makes this place not to be missed !
Laëtitia D — Google review
Visited Le Bar à Vin several times since last year. This year however the staff do not seem as attentive as last year, and last year was absolutely mental given the olympics were on! The wine was fabulous and the chocolates very tasty. I would say do visit here and maybe ask the staff questions if you'd like to know the wine because they don't seem to just tell you off their own back! The setting is stunning though!
Bee S — Google review
Had a wonderful experience and came back for a second. It's a great way to try many types of Bordeaux from different areas. I now have three Chateaus that are on my 'most loved' list. Helpful and friendly staff. Had a lovely chevre assortment with excellent breads. Great way to wait out the rain!

A Must-Visit Wine Bar in Bordeaux 🍷 Every time we visit this beautiful city, stopping by this wine bar is an absolute must. The service is always warm and attentive, making us feel right at home. They offer an excellent selection of wines, especially from the Bordeaux region, showcasing the richness and diversity of local vineyards. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or just looking to enjoy a relaxing evening, this place never disappoints. Highly recommended!
Roberto C — Google review
Visiting Bordeaux for the day and we were advised to try this wine tasting bar by a local guide. The interior is beautiful, calming and cool. Don't be put off if you're not a wine buff, the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. We tried two red Bordeaux based on our preferences and guidance from the helpful staff. We tried the charcuterie board alongside and all the local products were delicious. Would definitely revisit when we return to Bordeaux.
Lynda C — Google review
We weren't very satisfied with the wine experience we had here. The person assisting us wasn’t very helpful. We expected a proper wine tasting with explanations, but instead, the wines were simply poured and left in front of us like in a regular restaurant. This approach was quite different from what we had in mind. We came here based on the reviews but didn’t receive the level of service we were hoping for. It felt like they just wanted us to drink quickly and leave.

When it comes to enhancing your culinary experience, "le domaine du vin" plays a pivotal role, especially when paired with classic dishes like quiche lorraine. Renowned Alsace estates such as Domaine Zind-Humbrecht and Domaine Marcel Deiss are celebrated for their exceptional wines that elevate any meal. These vineyards focus on the unique characteristics of their terroir, resulting in complex aromas and distinctive flavors that truly complement your dining experience.
The owner is a very nice man and knowledgeable about wines. He helped me pick 3 great bottles of wine from Bordeaux. They also have a good selection. I highly recommend coming here for wine.

Fine dining restaurant
Le Quatrième Mur is an elegant brasserie located in the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, offering seasonal fine dining in a refined and airy space. The restaurant is led by Michelin-starred chef Philippe Etchebest, known for his previous success at L'Hostellerie de Plaisance in Saint-Emilion.
I had a lovely experience at Le Quatrième Mur. The food was amazing, and the service was exceptionally well-organized. Each staff member took the time to describe the ingredients on our plates, which added a special touch. The building itself is beautiful, though I did feel that the tables were a bit close together—but this could easily be improved. Overall, a fantastic dining experience!

From the moment we arrived, everything about this restaurant was exceptional. The food was a masterpiece—each dish thoughtfully prepared with rich flavours and beautiful presentation. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. An unforgettable lunch from start to finish—highly recommended.
Dubravka Ž — Google review
I would never go back. We had a reservation for 9pm. It took a while to be attended to. The menu was a QR code on the table, but it doesn’t have wine by the bottle on the menu. So, we were ordering food before we had even seen the wine list, which was actually very comprehensive. The sommelier was excellent and very knowledgeable and engaging. We were celebrating as we had just bought a house. We had some aperitifs and ordered a 150€ bottle of red wine. There was only a three course menu on offer. We ordered the mushroom ravioli for entree and the shared beef for our main meal. There was an 18€ per person additional charge for the beef. The mushroom ravioli was lovely. We ordered our beef medium. When it came out, it was Blue. We asked the waitress if we could get it cooked a bit longer as we wanted in cooked medium. She didn’t even acknowledge us and in a real huff took it away. When it came out again, it was rare. The photo shows the beef after it came out the second time. The waitress just dumped in on the table and walked away. By this time, our two side dishes were cold. We then asked the waitress if we could get the beef cooked a bit longer as it was still rare. By this time we’ve been picking at our sides, but one is stone cold, so I ask the waitress if she could please heat up the side of potatoes so that we can eat them hot with our beef when it comes out. So the steak and potatoes come out again. The potato dish is now missing the mash that it originally came out with and the beef’s been reheated 3 times and it’s just not good and now we are just over it. Not once did anyone check in with us. My partner speaks French so it wasn’t a language issue and we’ve both been waiters, so the total lack of care was staggering and the service recovery was non existent. Now my partner never complains and he is so kind, you can win him over so easily, but even he was peeved. So we speak to another waitress and we advise that we don’t want dessert because it’s now 11.30pm and we’re over the whole thing. She was great and said she’d speak to the manager. We then spoke to another waiter who was sent to us (he was lovely and helpful) and the restaurant manager offered to not charge for the dessert that we didn’t have, waive a side dish and not charge one of us for the beef surcharge (but still charge for the main meal, just not the beef surcharge). My partner explained that this was not good enough because we hardly ate any of the beef main meal. Again they had to speak to the manager who agreed to remove the other beef surcharge. So we’re still paying for two entrees and two mains. Turns out the waitress wrote on the order we wanted our beef rare, so it was their fault and after both times we sent it back, it would be expected for the waitress to check if we were ok. Also, if someone sends the food back after it’s their mistake, then take the sides away and bring them back hot with the meal. Our sides were out for 30 minutes before we got the final third time cooked crappy beef. Having to fight for service recovery is terrible. Our bill at the end was 261€. I would never eat here again. Don’t go!!! We left feeling really bitter and peeved that they had to speak to the manager three times, like restaurant manager, if your staff are speaking to you three times about your guests, go speak to the guests and make it right!!!! I have not felt this disappointed or ripped off ever. Photos show the beef (that we ordered medium) after the second time it came out.
S. F — Google review
Food was excellent, beautiful interior but service was not on the same level. The food was truly exceptional. All six dishes were beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The ambiance itself was really nice. Unfortunately, the service fell a bit short of the overall experience. Our initial waiter seemed inattentive, focusing on other tables and tasks rather than our needs. Waiter provided detailed explanations entirely in French when bringing dessert, which we don’t understand. Though it provided a humorous moment, it ultimately made communication challenging. Finally, another waiter seemed rushed and spilled sauce on one our plates quite hastily. While these mishaps didn't detract from the quality of the food, they did temper the overall experience. But definitely recommended.

Top brasserie in a majestic room in the opera house. Great food at a reasonable price for the high quality. Friendly young service.
Mike T — Google review
Beautiful location but there are too many tables for the room size. Felt too crowded. Book ahead of time if you want to dine here. Each dish was very well done, clear flavour and vision. Food itself was a 9/10, but price is a bit pricy I’d say, each person was 57 euros for a 3 course.
Jay — Google review
Superb gastronomic experience 😍 we had amazing time at this restaurant, the food was very very tasty and our taste buds were pleased beyond our expectations. Special thanks to our waitress Morgane who was very kind, helpful and knowledgeable about every component in the food and looked really well after us and all our needs. I would fully recommend this this place to anyone who enjoys well prepared tasty meals. If we ever come back to Bordeaux we will definitely come back to this restaurant.
Tereza S — Google review
This is not really worth the money. The tuna was overcooked, the pork was dry and who serves croquettes with mashed potatoes? The waiters did little effort to make us feel welcome, they seem to not care about our feedback and the sommelier did not have time to give us a proper selection, maybe it was the language barrier though since my wive and I don’t speak french. I don’t get why this restaurant is listed in the Michelin Guide. Might be they just had a bad day, but I don’t know, 110€ per person should be enough to expect a nice dinner. In conclusion: average food and wine way overpriced.

Renowned for its excellent seafood menu, the restaurant serves dishes such as oysters, langoustines, and grilled fish sourced from the waters of St Jean de Luz. Former Michelin-starred chef Stephane Carrade leads the culinary team, ensuring that every dish is inspired and flavorful.
Quaint small local restaurant with fantastic fresh seafood. Get the variety of shellfish plates in addition to their awesome oysters. Service was friendly and great values in wine. A place to return many times.

Traditional French “pecherie” with a modern twist- let’s say the only one restaurant we visited twice in 9 days in Bordeaux (even considering ten extra minutes walk) Erwin was our waiter each time and his recommendations were spot on! Gazpacho and the escargots were the best we got in SW France including some Michelin stars we visited ( for a fraction of the price). Highly recommended!
Sorin B — Google review
For a seafood restaurant, the dishes tasted a bit average and not as fresh as I expected. The razor clams were cooked well, though the flavor itself wasn’t that impressive. The atmosphere could be improved too—there was quite a strong kitchen smell, and while we were eating, flies were constantly buzzing around and landing on our seafood. We had to keep shooing them away, which made the hygiene standards feel questionable and the meal rather unpleasant. On the bright side, the desserts were a pleasant surprise—the crème brûlée and ice cream were both really nice. Service was fine, nothing outstanding but perfectly okay.
Lily Z — Google review
I had an excellent meal here with fresh and flavorful oysters followed by well seasoned and perfectly cooked monkfish. It’s in a touristy part of town, so there were fewer locals than I like to see. But, other than that, c’est bon! [PS. Regarding the flies, almost every restaurant I’ve gone to in France for the last 3+ weeks has had fruit flies. We’re not used to it in the US, but it’s common here.]

Happy hour oysters (€1) between 4-6pm. The oysters were fresh and delicious, the recommended wine was great, thank you! Great street for people waking, away from the square.

In my opinion, a good chef can prepare good vegetables, even one specialized in fish. I do not eat fish, but my friend does, so we went to this restaurant. She assured me the fish was excellent, so no remarks on that. I however, ordered the only vegetarian main dish, which was room temperature gazpacho and a piece of toast. This cost me €20, even though it was tragically the same dish as the €12 gazpacho entrée. Honestly, I'd really like my €8 back so I can spend it some carrot sticks and hummus from Carrefour, because I would rather eat that than go to this restaurant again. My wallet and my digestion are crying.

Racines is a restaurant located slightly outside the historic center of Bordeaux, opposite a large glass-fronted building. The establishment has an elegant and business-like ambiance, making it suitable for a formal lunch. It is known for its collaboration with Chef Tanguy Laviale from the renowned Garopapilles, bringing in an impressive wine selection. We had an amazing experience at Racines. We opted for the full 6-course tasting menu with wine pairings, and everything was absolutely spot on. Each dish was beautifully presented and perfectly balanced, with the wine selections complementing every course. The service was warm and attentive without being over the top. One of the highlights of our trip to Bordeaux. Highly recommend!

We had a lovely dinner in Racine’s on Tuesday evening, it was the best meal we had in Bordeaux. The food was super tasty and really good value. The flexibility on the menu was great, where each person can decide to have 4,5 or 6 dish’s, everyone on the table does not have to do the same which was great. The accompanying wine, as you’d expect, was beautiful. Highlights for us was the cod and the veal in particular. We will definitely be back when we’re next in Bordeaux.

The cuisine may not be particularly innovative, but every dish is perfectly cooked and truly delicious. The service team is outstanding – friendly, attentive, and highly professional.

What a place! My first experience of fine dining and was blown away. We couldn’t get in on the night, so went for lunch instead. Incredible value (€30pp) and we added the wine pairings (€30pp). Everything was five star. Nice and intimate setting (about 7/8 tables), attentive service, incredible food!

Beautiful fresh flavours. We had the 4 plates in the evening for €44 and it was a great experience. The highlights were the tomato dish that packed a zesty punch and the artichoke dish that had a lot of richness. Lovely setting and great service

Interesting menu & AC , excellent service but be warned the dishes are micro- more the size for a 8 course menu, I went for lunch. - eggplant i adored-marcona almonds, just slightly sweet, miso & black garlic adds umami sauce yum, peach adds lots acidity , sisho leaf is everything in this dish, add lots of flavor -sea bream seaweed, green beans, lobster sauce- lime zest gelee a bit bitter not noticeable with other richness but adds tiny bit of acid. The sauce was very lobstery & then pure creamy, vanilla adds a little something but not physically thick enough to keep pickled mustard seeds from getting lost. And i would've liked more acid or spice would've been nice. I had to remove skin since I personally don't enjoy it if it isn't crispy though the blowtorch made it pretty. - fig sub apricot in the dessert, weird bitter olive sauce but with everything else added complexity, fig nice warm melts like a hot Sundae. Would've liked more slightly less done croutons, maybe more rosemary flavor. Would go back to see what else they come up with.

Perfect in every way. Thankyou. Food was amazing. Wine pairings were brilliantly matched. Friendly, attentive service and very well paced. Great to see the chef at work. And we thought a clever design of the kitchen/ restaurant that he could also see us enjoy his creations. A really pleasurable evening.

This charming eatery boasts an inviting atmosphere adorned with eclectic antique furniture and whimsical Tiffany lights, making it feel both cozy and stylish.
Lovely dinner, great ingredients. We went for the set menu which I think we would avoid next time and probably order a la carte, as the menu is a "surprise". Everyone was very helpful, staff was great, service could have a been a little bit faster. Overall a lovely experience.

Found in the reviews this restaurant to be dog friendly and they are! But go not only for the dog. Go for the food. It is great! They give good advise if you have dietary wishes (glutenfree). We were the first customers of the evening on a very warm day in Bordeaux. Enjoyed the airconditioning. We had the tuna and the risotto and a fish carpaccio. Our compliments to the chef. Very friendly staf.

The restaurant is a hidden gem! Visited the restaurant on Sept 11, 2025. The food was great and everything was cooked spectacularly. The restaurant is on a quieter street and not as easy to spot, but we had a great meal here. We tried to make a reservation through their website, however we never got a response, and walked by to see if it was indeed closed. They mentioned they're having some issues with the reservations platform and confirmed a time for us on the spot.

This was one of the best meals I’ve ever experienced! We went to a Michelin star restaurant the night after this and it didn’t even come close! Can’t understand how Michelin is giving stars these days if not here. The service, the food and the ambience were amazing! I’d recommend this over and over again. Some of the best food I’ve ever had. Thank you for having us!

Food was good except some over-exotic oysters with warm ingredients. The fish is a must as the sauce was great. The mini profiteroles with hazelnut were tasty too. Nice variety of wine bottles. The venue was cozy. Bread basket was good.
Monica R — Google review
Amazing food, perfect service and wonderful ambiance. The chicken was sublime, the risotto was perfect, and the chocolate inténse was simply divine. The portions are small, somewhat to be expected with fine dining, however they were surprisingly filling. This place was a real diamond in the rough! So glad we stumbled upon this place. Deserves more stars!

We were excited to dine here but sadly it was a bit disappointing. Food was okay and wine was regular, this is Bordeaux, we expected something more exciting. The duck was chewy and not cooked properly, half of it we left in the plate and we were offered only a digestive as a compensation. Atmosphere was nice but at one point the radio was playing quite loudly over our heads.

Amazing vegan/ veggie options with gorgeous outdoor seating onto a square, perfect for any people watchers. The staff are attentive and I’ll definitely be coming back!

Small restaurant in a great place with outdoor seating. Food looked great for non celiacs. I have symptomatic celiac disease and have to follow a strict gluten-free diet. The waitress asked for me and there were three gluten-free options 1. Red Curry 2. Bon He 3. Tam Belly If you have celiac disease, please be super careful and ask again, even if it is uncomfortable. I was first brought a dish for which, when I asked, the chef wasn't sure whether they had used soy sauce containing gluten. So they swapped the dish again. I tolerated the food well afterwards, but without sauce it was okay, but not super tasty either.
Lena F — Google review
I came here for lunch and ordered Pad Thai. It was quite salty for me, and I had to keep drinking water afterwards. Also, they used frozen shrimp instead of fresh ones, which really reduced the quality of the dish.
Hoàng T — Google review
I'm not too familiar with Thai food, but I know it has some similarities with Vietnamese food. Both countries have world-famous cuisines. So when I visited Bordeaux, I chose this restaurant, beautiful location, youthful space. This was my first time eating Nua Thai, and my friend ate Pad Thai. Nua Thai is very suitable for my taste, and I ate it with chili sauce (the chili sauce they use is made in Vietnam), and I also encourage you to try it with chili sauce. As for Pad Thai, my friend thought it should have a little sweetness to make the dish more harmonious.

The name of the dishes a bit misleading... for the nasi ayam ( chicken rice ).. its fried rice basically with frozen prawn. Good portion. I would return for their other menu

The staff here were super friendly and very helpful explaining the menu to us! This restaurant also has many vegetarian options which is great. We tried the CHARK WAY and the HOKKIEN MEE - both were really tasty! If you're not a fan of spicy food, you can just ask for it to be removed

I ordered a Thai burger which was ok taste wise, chicken had no flavour to it, coleslaw wasn’t tasty. My boyfriend ordered chicken balls that came with rice and some cabbage. Overall, it wasn’t flavourful. I won’t go there again.

Really nice place. Very friendly staff and lovely food. Had mussels with pesto (interesting) but the plentiful mussels were small so took an age to open and eat them! Would recommend and return. Peanut butter creamcake was To Die For.

Fantastic food based around local seasonal produce. The small plates for starter are all beautiful, trying to choose just 6 was a challenge. The mains menu is relatively small, but again, everything on it looks fabulous. The large wine list is very well put together, and features reds from Bordeaux extensively, as you would expect, together with a good selection of bio-wines. There is some outside seating across the road, but I would recommend sitting inside - it has a nice bustling atmosphere.

La Toque Cuivrée is a renowned pastry shop that has been serving delectable treats for generations. This delightful pastry has remained unchanged and continues to be a favorite among patrons. Additionally, La Toque Cuivrée's rival, Maison Baillardran, is known for its exquisite 'Canelé' and other confectionery delights.
Really nice canelé and at good price. The staff member was also friendly.

Quite tasty, very fairly priced. Would recommend, better overall than Canelés Bailladran. Expect a very crunchy outside and mushy inside.
Benyamin S — Google review
They're very nice, they even let you try free ones But it's really quite average. There's a taste to it that's not particularly pleasant, and it's also slightly chewy and gummy, maybe because it's left out for a while

One of the worst textured Caneles I’ve ever had in my life. Gummy and had zero air pockets inside. Flavor profile was nice but again the gummy tapioca like inside is embarrassing to say the least. Go somewhere else for caneles unless you want to be thoroughly disappointed. They are cheap I’ll say that.

This was a fantastic place for good food (poutine!) and great beer! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Although it seems like it’s a bit off the beaten path, it is well worth a visit.

The best poutine outside of Canada! The burgers are amazing and the cocktails delicious. The service is exemplary - and they cater to gluten free! All the beers and all the food bar the burger bun are gf.
Sally B — Google review
Beer options are good, and they could have a great place here with nicer food options, but… Went here based on another review claiming the best tofu burger, but this was not true, it was fine and it was only 1 of two vegan items. The other was a poutine, which was one of the most disappointing dishes I’ve had in a long while. Under-seasoned, soggy, toppings lacking flavour. The pub was had references to Quebec, and as poutine is a popular dish in Canada I was hoping for better. I hope they look at the vegan options soon.

Lovely lunch sitting outside the market watching the world go by. Extremely reasonable in price. You can get 6 oysters and a wine for €11. The oysters were devine, fresh & plump. The fish soup was super tasty. The prawns have previously been frozen but they were still good. Charcuterie board was also really good. House wine perfectly quaffable. All in all very good and an authentic experience, majority of people there were French so always a good sign.

We came late Sunday lunchtime. There was a long queue for the restaurant. It moved quickly. Very fast efficient friendly service Note. Nearly all the food is cold. Only hot dish was fish soup. We ordered oysters (6 for €8.50) crevette (6 for €8.30). Both excellent. A bottle of Chablis was €35. They had other more inexpensive wines but all were unfortunately Sauvignon. I would have liked a hot option. Otherwise I thought the food was very good. The value was good. I would recommend.

KURO espresso bar is a popular spot in Bordeaux, known for its high-quality coffee and delicious food offerings. Located near the opera house, it has gained a strong reputation through word of mouth. The menu includes a variety of savory options such as quiches, soups, and tartines, as well as sweet treats like cookies and granolas. Pascal Gabard, the owner, was inspired to open the cafe after experiencing the specialty coffee trend in Quebec.
A lovely little gem in Bordeaux with a cozy ambiance and warm service. KURO Café blends minimalist charm with thoughtful details, from the welcoming baristas to the carefully curated coffee selection. They source their beans from Utopia and Colombia varieties — a real treat for coffee enthusiasts. I had a well-pulled espresso paired with a delightful brioche cardamom — the kind of simple pleasure that makes a morning memorable. Ideal spot for a quiet moment or casual conversation in a beautiful corner of the city. Would gladly return.

Small, quiet and lovely cafe. This is the cafe that made me love chaï latte. There is very little else to say, beside that it is one of my favourite place in the city, that it should be better known but at the same time those who like it would rather not it be known, so that we can keep it to ourselves. Besides the drinks, all the pastries I've tried were delicious.

I'd give this a 6 out of 5 if I could. It is the best coffee I've had in the six weeks traveling through Italy and France! For Australian NZ reference We had Piccolos and they were as good as anything in Sydneyor Auckland ( close to Allpress flavour). The cakes are also excellent. Highly recommend!

My preferred cafe in Bordeaux! The coffee beans are freshly roasted on-site, and you can choose from any type of coffee. Also, there is a very tasty matcha latte. The place is perfect for breakfast or brunch - avocado toast is just yummy! Only one minus - very often there are no free places ))

Looking for a great cup of coffee ☕️ in Bordeaux? This spot is a must-visit. They offer oat milk for those avoiding lactose and boast a menu favorite: the Croque Monsieur. Filter coffee is also in the list 🫶. Here, coffee is roasted on-site, allowing you to witness the roasting process, purchase freshly roasted beans, and even request a grind to suit your preference. Cute terrace for 6 tables. Conversations with the owner, a genuinely nice man, are enlightening and add a personal touch to the experience.

Decent café, not quite to my taste Dipped in for a quick refreshment after cakes round the corner. Coffee was a little too strong for my taste, almost ristretto (it was definitely espresso on the menu though) which wasn't entirely refreshing. However granted, that's just my personal taste and for what it was it was pretty good. Luckily tap water provided so I chugged that. Tea was tea. Only €5 in total though, not bad. Location was good in the sunshine, quiet street despite being just a short walk away from the riverfront.

First experience at Maison Lamour, came to pick up some of their special Flan and some sourdough. Great shop with beautiful products on display, very attracting looking french boulangerie and pâtisserie specialities. Great and prompt service. The french classic flan with tonka beans was delicious! The walnut bread and rye bread were fantastic. I’ll be back !

Boulangerie "Au Pétrin Moissagais" is a historic bakery located on 72 Cours de la Martinique in Bordeaux, dating back to 1765. The owner, Serge, takes pride in preserving Gascognian traditions by baking original Gascognian white bread in the same wood-burning oven that has been used since the bakery's opening over two centuries ago. Visitors can experience the authentic ambiance of this rustic space and witness the traditional baking process.
Amazing bakery in Bordeaux. We enjoyed all food we bought there and ate there ( sandwiches , bread, pastries, cakes ). Brought back home bread and pastries and finished them in 4 days, pastry quicker of course. You can have your sandwich ,pastry in place. Oven old fashioned,my grandmother used to do bread in bricklayer oven. I am so delighted I by chance found that bakery.

This place is truly a gem and my absolute favourite. Steeped in history, the wood-fired oven is a magnificent sight to behold and a real treat to experience in person. I have had the pleasure of trying their baguette, croissant, chocolatine, pain aux raisins, quiche aux poireaux, and flammekueche. Each item is simply delightful and delicious. The atmosphere is incredibly warm and welcoming, with a family-friendly vibe that makes every visit a pleasure. I simply adore this place and highly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic French boulangerie experience.

Authentic, and old! This place dates back to 1765, during the reign of King Louis XV. They still bake the bread, and pastries in the same oven and I swear I could taste history in each bite of my quiche. There is a grand table up the back, close to the oven, that a group of men were celebrating a birthday. It was a great setting, and everyone was having a great time.

Beautiful café, very girly The window-dressing for this place was absolutely on point. Even though we probably didn't need it, couldn't resist heading in. We had a sirop de violette, an ice tea and a slice of pistachio & berries cake. Sirop was nice, they had a good selection of other flavours too so it was nice to try something a bit different. Wife didn't really like her ice tea as it was a little bitter rather than the sweetened kind she was expecting. I tried it and thought it was fine though. Cake was good, but it was more berries than pistachio. From what we tried the cakes possibly looked nicer than they tasted. However would have to try their other cakes before I could back that up, and besides it was still good, so I didn't even feel bamboozled. They were really busy when we came in and the poor girl that eventually waited our table got a bit of stern talking to when the boss noticed we were still sitting waiting to order. We didn't mind too much, we probably should have just said something instead of waiting patiently. Decor was nice, lots of pink and pastels. Plenty of groups of girls or families with young girls having a good time.

Messieurs Croquent is a cozy spot for a satisfying lunch. The croque monsieur and croque madame are tasty, but some find the portion size small for the price. Had lunch here today. Overall happy, but felt that food was slightly overpriced. The lunch deal was 8.50€ for a croque monsieur plus a side salad (individually it would have been 6.5€ plus 3€). My partner had the equivalent to croque madame (I think). They both tasted nice, can't deny that, but they were on the small side for the price point. Friendly staff though!

Went here for lunch and ordered the Le Transformiste (Croque madam). As expected, it was filling and delicious. However, as a person who supports a large appetite, I found the portion size small and the price on the expensive side (€7.50). The waiter was incredibly friendly and helpful!

Incredible breakfast spot, we were planning to check different breakfast place every day when in Bordeaux but it was so good we were coming back every day. The sandwiches are super fresh and the one with smoked fish is just insanely good. Also the coffee is top! And if you go upstairs, you will find the most cosy room to chill with a view.

Beautiful cafe, with photography on the walls and a pretty garden with birds. The canelés were amazing and would go back just for them only. However, I got bread and a few cakes and all we're pretty plain, no rich favours just sugar. Very pretty to look at. A bit disappointing as they are dedicated to just gluten free. Good service and atmosphere.
Yasmin G — Google review
Completely gluten-free boulangerie. As a non-celiac person, I still really enjoyed each pastry. You can tell that they’re not traditional products and there’s something slightly different about the dough, but once you realize they’re entirely gluten-free, you can truly appreciate them. The place itself is very artistic, with beautiful photographs and even a small art gallery inside.
Rachele M — Google review
A wonderful find for someone like me who follows a largely gluten-free diet! There was an extensive selection of baked goods: cakes, breads, pastries, and even savory options with delicious toppings. Everything was presented in the typically culinary and aesthetic French way. The beautiful courtyard terrace, in the classic Bordeaux style, makes it the perfect place to start my day in Bordeaux from now on. There’s also a small art exhibition to enjoy. Lovely young staff and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Nicole G — Google review
Best gluten free bakery I have ever been too. Everything was amazing thank you very much from a very grateful coeliac 😍
Karen R — Google review
The fig tart, cannelés, and gâteau basque were delicious! I also really enjoyed being in their lovely terrace, and it is fantastic that they allow dogs. It was great to have a few savoury options (sandwiches, quiches, etc..), however the quiche was very bland and disappointing. The bread in the sandwiches was nice as it didn’t crumble away like a lot of gluten-free bread, but it was quite dry. The flan wasn’t particularly tasty, and I would really recommend having the gateau basque instead. Drinks: I was pleasantly surprised by the wide variety of hot and cold drinks on offer. Service: Finally, when I got home I realised that I paid for items that weren’t packed in my takeaway bag. The staff were trying their best to cope with the very high demand which made things quite difficult for them. Fully celiac safe as everything is gluten-free.

Amazing food, decor and ambiance and concept. Don’t miss this in Bordeaux thank you for making our holiday with all delicious gluten free options. Every town should have a BAG art gallery. The eating areas outside and inside are amazing.
Pauline J — Google review
I wish i could give it a 0 but since the lowest grade available is 1, that is what i will give it. I saw this place on google maps, i thought its rating was good that’s why i decided to give it a try. So we opted for a caramel popcorn flan, which looked and tasted nothing like a flan. I was given by the lady the flan with The top side of the flan broken i saw 2 pieces of flans in this bakery and i was given the broken one. That’s it for aesthetics, let’s talk about taste now, the caramel popcorn? Well no taste of popcorn? The caramel was burnt so it had an unpleasant bitter and ashy taste. The crumble was passable (i would even say not buttery enough). The real issue is on the inside. It looked and tasted nothing like a flan. By colour alone, it was too white already to be close to an authentic golden flan. The texture was tragic. The cream was curdled and lumpy, unlike a classic smooth and silky flan. Tastewise it was lifeless. Completely bland to the point of indifference. It was like bititng into an uneven mush of water and flour. Even a drop of vanilla extract could have salvaged something. Overall, we cannot consider this a flan it tasted nothing like a flan, and considering it’s price of 6€ i would not recommend it to anyone.

We have had lunch here several times. It never disappoints. Food is inventive and beautifully presented. Service is friendly and gracious. As to the ambience and view it’s hard to beat. Go and enjoy.

Brasserie
Le Puy Paulin is a traditional French bistro located in the center of Bordeaux. It offers a variety of menu selections, including burgers, roasted chicken, beef dishes, and platters of cured meats and cheeses. The prices are reasonable, with main courses ranging from 25 to 30 euros. Customers have praised the quality of the food as well as the friendly service provided by the staff. The outdoor seating area provides a peaceful setting away from the busy main street.
If you fancy a historic Brasserie in the midst of the old town, where you can watch urban life walking by, enjoy a maître who knows how to serve fast and with charm, and share a good meal, this is the place for you. The interior, part in art deco style, provides an elegant, but casual atmosphere. We came back to Bordeaux just to have another lunch here.

Our last night in Bordeaux! Stumbled across this beautiful restaurant as Eva was so engaging.. she was fun, improved our French and helped us through the menu. Thank you Eva! What a wonderful night to remember - great fun, great food. Loved it!

Our last night in Bordeaux and we found the best place to eat even though we got the English and French menus mixed up with what we were ordering gave the host a giggle but we got there in the end the food was so good would highly recommend

Super friendly service and delicious food. The wine, beef cheeks, and tuna tartare were especially outstanding. Entrees were accompanied by tasty sides.

I loved it! The concept is easy: you enter, you pick up your food (cold dishes, hot dishes) and you pay. Food is awesome with a large choice (also vegan friendly) . Staff is super cool, prices are fair and the deco is really nice. I will definitely return there when in Bordeaux.
Alb R — Google review
We came across this restaurant as we were walking around Bordeaux in search of a steak. We enjoyed the steak special that evening which was a very generous size for the price and absolutely delicious. We also had the Puy Paulin burger which I'd highly recommend.
Lucy T — Google review
Perfect stop during late Sat shopping! They served us later charcuterie and wine platter and a splendid 2009 red wine.... Its hard to eat in France outside of std lunch hours but in this place, it was possible.
Eri D — Google review
Probably the WORST meal that we had in our 2 month stay in Bordeaux. This place is horrible, we had the ‘plat du jour’ which happened to be fish and chips and you just wonder how can someone screw that dish but they did! 99% fried batter, tiny piece of frozen fish. They dont seem to care, its in a great location and could not care about return business… stay away!!!

If you're looking for a delightful dining experience to kick off your week, "Au Rêve Chartrons" is the perfect spot. This charming eatery offers an inviting atmosphere complemented by fantastic music that sets the mood just right. The menu features delicious and affordable dishes, making it an ideal choice for lunch, especially when you can enjoy your meal under the shade of nearby market stalls.
On a Monday evening. This location is the place to be. The food is not expensive and lovely. The vibe is perfect for starting the week. The music is just Perfect, everyone would love it. I recommend "Au rêve Chartrons" and I will come back.

Friendly, good and affordable dishes, idea for lunch under the shade or the market in front it the restaurant. Smiles from the staff and kids friendly!
Caillaud C — Google review
Very poor. Waiter ignored us and when we were finally seated continued to ignor us. He served a group who arrived after us, but only once he moved us to make room for them. He brought the group water and menus etc but still ignored us. Eventually we left. This is a real shame; Bordeaux makes a great destination for short breaks from the uk but with service like this they just give French hospitality a bad name!!
Amar E — Google review
The worst service I have ever had. The waiter seemed to be angry from the first minute, he answered our questions in a hairy way and even made obscene gestures in front of us. I can not believe that the owner alow this in a establishment.

The guys added drinks of 32€ to our bill that we did neither order nor drink! Not such a happy ending to a happy hour...

Really disappointing on Sunday. Waited 40min for our food and drinks. After waiting all this time they realised they forgot my food and coca cola. Not organised at all. Will never go back.

Mediterranean restaurant
Miles Restaurant is a popular bistro located near the Customs Museum in Bordeaux's historic center. The restaurant, opened by a diverse team of three friends from different cultural backgrounds, offers a creative blend of French, Asian, and Middle-Eastern culinary traditions. The menu focuses on using fresh local produce to create well-thought-out and innovative dishes. With its market-driven menu featuring seasonal produce from southwest France, Miles has become one of the most sought-after dining spots in Bordeaux.
Amazing small restaurant with a small bit excellent menu of seasonal dishes. Each plate was exquisitely prepared with an interesting and new take on traditional dishes. The use of eastern ingredients in western dishes was refreshing. Serving a non local red wine was bold but worth it! A must visit restaurant! FYI: the menu is in French but the team spoke excellent English.
Owain J — Google review
Almost Perfect. The restaurant, staff and the chef's were all excellent. The restaurant hade a nice decor and felt very intimate. You saw the chef's plating your food which gave that special touch. The flavours and the presentation of the food was excellent! I ate my best ever cod in Miles! Just was really amazing. But, the food seamed little misplaced from. We received and amazing scallop, but also a black pudding with BBQ sauce. It really did not correspond with the theme. Also, the dessert did not really fit in. I was also little disappointed with the wine pairing, the pairing worked great. But there was no wines from Bordeaux. Which is something I expected coming to the capital of wine. Make sure to book before you go! The menu was 55€ and the wine pairing was 25€. Great price for "high cuisine" I would absolutely go again!
Nevid G — Google review
Very creative dishes. They only have a set menu which the chef makes up. It is very varied and brought out at a nice pace. When you call for a reservation and they tell you they are seating you at the counter, don’t be disappointed, it is a treat. You get to see the chefs cook and plate the meals right in front of you. They make it look deceptively simple. Reservations are a must, but we managed to get them on the day so it’s worth calling to check even if you didn’t plan it in advance.

AMAZING! One of the best meals of my life! Each dish better than the next in the 5 course surprise tasting menu. And the wine was also delicious. My favorite dishes were gnocchi with artichoke and eggplant caviar with corn and a fried poached egg (duck for the meat eaters). They did a great job modifying the meat and fish plates for a vegetarian like me and my husband loved the meat as well. This was truly a delicious experience!
Dorothee H — Google review
Perfectly executed 5-course tasting menu with wine pairings. We sat at the counter, which seemed initially like a negative, but ended up being great - enabling us to watch the team prepare each course. The service was great - helpful, informative, and hospitable. Food was highly creative and the wine pairings were so well done.
Rich W — Google review
An amazing culinary experience that absolutely ranks as the best and most innovative meal I've ever had. So much so that I forgot to take a picture of one of my plates, so the four pictures I've included are the meals I forced myself to document before eagerly consuming. The wines paired beautifuly with the food as well. The only "option" on the menu is whatever 5 course tasting menu the chef has imagined, and flawlessly executes every aspect of each plate - never over or under cooking anything. Well worth the cost (which isn't anywhere close to what you'd pay for a similar experience in Paris), and worth a visit while in Bordeaux.
Kelsey B — Google review
We’d heard of this place after a little bit of research, but didn’t manage to organise a reservation before heading to Bordeaux. Luckily we managed to get the last two seats at the counter when we arrived, and so glad we did. This place was brilliant. The food was faultless, and the service and the atmosphere fantastic. For the evening meals, you get a 5-course (“5 Mile”) menu (a mixture of veg, fish and meat courses, plus a dessert), so the only choices you have to make are on the drinks (unless you do the wine -pairing, which we didn’t). The food is prepped and cooked in full sight of all the customers in the middle of the restaurant, which adds a little theatre. And while it’s not a new concept to do this, it’s great seeing the skill, the care and the people cooking the food for you. It also creates a sense of anticipation as they plate-up the food in-front of everyone so you’re trying to identify what’s next! Every course served was the perfect size, perfectly seasoned and perfectly balanced with flavours. The cuisine itself was a surprise as it was quite eastern in flavour and ingredients. I didn’t really have any expectations on what I’d be eating, but this was a surprise and a very pleasing one. This is genuinely one of the best meals I’ve had and highly recommend to anyone visiting Bordeaux. Especially with the clear passion and dedication of everyone working at this restaurant. On a final point, try the Portuguese Aphros white wine. It’s delicious.

Fantastic hot dogs (really they're high quality sausages) with tasty combinations of cheeses, veggies, sauces and other toppings. Located near the Camille Julian square, Croc-Loup is a gastronomic restaurant that impresses with its combination of indulgence and sophistication. The cuisine is described as generous yet refined. Visitors have praised the delicious and filling menu options, highlighting dishes like squid salad, ravioli, and poultry. Despite being fully booked, the service was efficient and attentive. Guests have also appreciated the intimate ambiance and reasonable pricing at this fantastic dining spot.
Absolutely fantastic place, definitely check it out. Food and ambience were lovely. The owner really appreciated my attempt at making the reservation in French and kindly told my girlfriend (a québécois) so. Staff were wonderful
Michael H — Google review
We have had dinner here and went for the menu option. It was delicious and filling. The restaurant was 100% full and there was only one waitress, but she was keeping it up and service was fast. Do note that it can get extremely hot in summer, and like a lot of places in France, there is no air conditioning (or they might be but it was broken that night when we went there). And trust me, at can be a challenge drinking red wine and eating beef at 35 degrees with no a/c. :-)

(Translated by Google) We had a pleasant evening. We took the menu for €38. It is extremely plentiful and I advise you not to have lunch at midday to be able to fully appreciate this good cuisine. For my part, I enjoyed the squid salad, very well cooked and seasoned. The ravioli and poultry are to die for. (Original) Nous avons passé une agréable soirée nous avons pris le menu à 38 € il est extrêmement copieux et je vous conseille de ne pas déjeuner le midi pour pouvoir apprécier totalement cette bonne cuisine.
