Riga Central Market is a sprawling market located by the river, featuring both indoor and outdoor stalls offering a wide variety of goods. The market is housed in five historic buildings that were originally Zeppelin hangars, with each building specializing in different products such as fruits and vegetables, fish, meats, and more. The unique architecture of the market adds to its charm, with its metalwork dating back to the 1920s.
Riga Central Market is a vibrant and fascinating place to explore, and one of the largest and most unique markets in Europe. Housed in impressive former zeppelin hangars, it offers a mix of history, culture, and local flavors all under one roof. The variety is incredible—you can find everything from fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats to local cheeses, smoked fish, baked goods, and traditional Latvian delicacies. Outside, there are also stalls with clothes, crafts, and souvenirs. The atmosphere is lively and authentic, giving you a real taste of everyday life in Riga. It’s the perfect spot to try local snacks, meet friendly vendors, and take in the aromas and colors of Latvian cuisine. ⭐ Tip: Visit in the morning for the freshest products and fewer crowds.
Maria C — Google review
If you like great food at a reasonable price, the central market is waiting for you. SO MUCH FOOD! Everything was fresh and was as alluring to the nose as it was to the palate. So much variety, you will hardly know where to start. It's even fun if you're not hungry... just walk around and take it all in. Definitely recommend!
Paul C — Google review
The best open market I’ve ever visited. Traditional meeting the modern in a wonderful mix. Vegetables, fruits, nuts fish, poultry, beef, clothes and lot of other things. I will be back.
Joel M — Google review
I visited Riga Central Market, and it was such a vibrant experience. The market is huge and full of life you can find just about everything here, from fresh flowers and local foods to meats, cheeses, spices, and handmade goods. It’s a great place to discover authentic Latvian flavors and everyday life. The market is set inside historic old Zeppelin hangars, which gives it a unique and impressive atmosphere. Each pavilion specializes in different products, making it easy to explore and sample a wide variety of items. I especially enjoyed seeing the fresh produce stands and traditional Latvian treats. It’s not just a place to shop—it’s also a cultural experience, perfect for walking around, tasting, and soaking in the local vibe. Prices are fair, and you’ll find both locals and tourists enjoying the market. If you’re visiting Riga, this is definitely a must-see. 📍 Location: Nēģu iela 7, Riga, Latvia

Nice and quick lunch spot in the gastronomy market they have different restaurants where you can have local food and buy local cheeses and souvenirs. A nice quick stop in the city. Haven’t take any picture of the dumplings but they were very good.
Giulia T — Google review
Great place to sample the local food. There are plenty of fruit and veg stalls, flower stalls and clothing stalls as well as a food market inside. They sell all the traditional dishes for extremely reasonable prices so a great way to eat like the locals. It’s a vibrant, buzzing area that’s definitely worth a visit.
Mel P — Google review
A very wide assortment of articles on offer in the five former zeppelin hangars and at stall outside. Numerous local specialities at sensible prices. The fish names were especially confusing. Just a short walk from the train station and bus stops.
David W — Google review
Really big market with so much variety. There are different halls dedicated to different types of goods (the meat hall, the fish hall, etc). There's a hall that has eateries, and there are other retain shops throughout. Outside there are fresh fruits and vegetables as well as flowers. Definitely a must visit location for anyone visiting Riga.

Department store
Store
Stockmann is a large department store located between the bus and train stations, offering a wide range of products including clothing, cosmetics, electronics, groceries, and home goods. The four-story building features different sections on each floor, from men's and women's clothing to home goods. It houses various international brands as well as local Latvian ones. Additionally, the store has an inbuilt connection with Kino Citadele cinema and includes a supermarket fully prepared for operations in 2022.
Good shop for certain products you may not get elsewhere, also my go to place to get delicious lunch. This place is not the cheapest but does have quite the variety
Lisbeth V — Google review
Really nicely and classically laid out department store and a very clean food hall with a wide variety of products which are clearly labelled, in Latvian. Despite the fact that I can't speak or understand Latvian I managed, with the kind help of the Stockmann staff, to find everything I wanted and buy what I needed. The department store is very classy and it's well worth popping in to have a look at the good quality clothes and houseware they have - including a sauna section (for accessories - I don't think they actually sell saunas).
Jacek G — Google review
I love shopping at Stockmann Riga! Please bring more of the BUBS skull candies (especially the pink and blue ones) —they are always sold outt.
Nour F — Google review
My first encounter with them was months ago in HEL, and again, entered their food mart at the ground floor. What can I say, all food from the Baltic region is avail, really loved their fresh fish and salads, drinks and international deli. Who said that the heydays of department stores would be over? As long as Stockmann, next to others, offers such a nice range of food, I'll get there:-)
Michael B — Google review
Lively and has great selection. I was a little disappointed with their shoe department, it’s virtually non-existent. The staff is very good, all speak Russian fluently and with pleasure. The store is posh and expensive but offers rewards to regular customers with loyalty cards, which is a bonus!
Alekskors — Google review
Extremely negative experience with Stockmann’s food section and customer service. On Wednesday, I bought prosciutto and cheese – when I opened them at home, both products were spoiled, moldy, and smelling bad. When I contacted customer service, the only response was that they “found nothing wrong” and suggested I bring the rotten package back. Is it really normal to expect a customer to carry stinking, moldy meat around just because the store refuses to admit fault? And that wasn’t all. On the same day, I bought two baguettes for €1.10 each. I asked to have one sliced, and suddenly the price jumped to €1.65. When I asked why, the saleswoman arrogantly replied that one was “on discount” and the other wasn’t. But both baguettes were identical – the only difference was that one was cut. This is clear customer deception. Overall, it feels like Stockmann management lives in a bubble, believing customers should be grateful for their so-called “high quality.” In reality, the products are spoiled, prices are inconsistent, and customer service completely ignores problems. No respect for customers – just empty rhetoric and no willingness to solve issues. If this is what Stockmann calls “high quality,” then thank you – I don’t need it.
Anna S — Google review
I have been doing my routine grocery shopping on the first floor for a year. The shopping environment is much more pleasant than other stores such as Rimi. There is also a lower chance of encountering uncivilized customers than in Rimi. I like the wide variety of food there and the hospitality of the shop assistants at the cashier. There is a great variety of imported food, for prices lower than those in Rimi. The variety of fruits and vegetables cannot match up to Rimi though, mainly due to a smaller customer base. But Stockmann always tries to keep the vegetables fresh as much as possible. You won’t find molded ones as in Rimi. I can find discounts in Stockmann very often.
Jing R — Google review
Great selection of goods, good grocery store, you will likely find most food items for various world cuisine cooking. Overall It’s ridiculously overpriced in comparison to branded goods I buy in london but I guess that’s the price for stocking items Has a good canteen on top floor with nice views and good lunch menu

Shopping mall
Nestled in the heart of Riga, the Gallery Centre is a vibrant shopping mall that has been a staple since 1938. This urban hub offers an eclectic mix of brand-name retailers, delightful restaurants, and even a supermarket to cater to all your shopping needs. Whether you're on the hunt for high-end designer items or unique local handicrafts, this lively center promises something for everyone. As you wander through its bustling corridors, you'll discover everything from cosmetics to clothing stores.
Lovely shopping centre with lots of lovely cafes on the top floor (4th floor) with delicious food and drinks. And panoramic views from the balcony. Very cozy place.

It's actually a medium size mall in the city centre. It's was just a nice hide away when the weahther is cold & wet outside. The mall is well maintained & clean, not too much walking required. don't miss the good quality food court on the top floor.
Ken I — Google review
Placed well in the center of the old town. Has a beautiful food hall at the top floor, local and international cuisine. Shops are very limited, there are better options in Riga. Galerija is located behind the cathedral
Loizos L — Google review
We recently visited the shopping center with the whole family. I remember when I was a little girl we would come to the department store and our eyes would run wild from the huge number of shops and cafes. What did we see now? A pitiful sight, most of the shops have been liquidated, only a few shops remain, of all this the only thing that pleased us was the cafe on the top floor, a large selection of home-cooked food. It is really sad that such a beautiful historical department store is dying out and no longer attracts many tourists as it used to.
Jana S — Google review
A supermarket with a long history. Well decorated, you can buy clothes and cosmetics, the grocery store is very small, but on the top floor there is a pleasant foodcourt with a wide selection of food and a fantastic view of Riga if you go out on the balcony. Unfortunately, the toilets are worn out in 2025 (but in the foodcourt for the entire crowd only 2 toilets). Beautiful, old stairs.
Alise T — Google review
Not many shops. Quite high end, except H&M.

Great mall, especially I liked its food court area which looks really good and even has a DJ

Nice and lovely shopping centre located at Riga Old Town. It has many choices like H&M, Rimi, Douglas etc. The place is beautiful and well-decorated. There’s fitness center too at the 5th floor. Many services available as well, a very convenient place to stop for shopping. Nice experience.

Sights & Landmarks
Church
Observation Decks & Towers
St. Peter's Church is a medieval church with a remarkable 123-meter-high steeple, dating back to the 15th century. The main attraction here is the Clock Tower, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of Riga's cityscape and the charming red roofs of the Old Town. Despite its troubled history and multiple renovations, it stands tall as an iconic landmark in Riga. Visitors can enjoy various tours, including a popular walking tour that showcases the city's rich history and culture.
I would recommend this place for a good viewing point of the city. The church inside is nothing special, but the views from the point are worth the ticket price. As others have mentioned, there may be a queue for the lifts, both to go up and come down since there is only one lift in operation and takes only around 10 people each time. The views are nice when the weather is good, but the platform at the top is not too big, and as it's all outdoors, it can be a bit windy.
Ai — Google review
Beautiful church right in the heart of Riga’s Old Town. St. Peter’s Church is an impressively restored building, with restoration work still ongoing. A highlight is the elevator ride up the tower – the elevator may feel a little shaky, but it takes you safely to the top. From there you get a fantastic view over Riga and the Old Town. Definitely a worthwhile stop on a city walk.
Yo L — Google review
Really beautiful church, well worth stopping by even if not religious. The building is stunning & the architecture is immense. You can pay extra to go up in the tower, which is an incredible experience. You get panoramic views of the whole city, including the river. It's a bit scary at first as the lift opens directly out onto the tower, but definitely power through!
Tyler L — Google review
St. Peter’s Church in Tallinn is one of those places where history, architecture, and atmosphere all come together beautifully ⛪✨. The church itself has a calm, almost timeless feel to it—like it’s been quietly watching the city change for centuries. The high ceilings and intricate details make you feel both small and amazed, the kind of place where you whisper automatically even if no one tells you to. What I loved most was how it blends solemnity with charm. It’s not just about bricks and stained glass; it’s about stories, traditions, and that sense of being part of something much larger than yourself. And of course, like every good historic church in Europe, it also gives you that gentle reminder that your photography skills will never do it justice. 📸😂 Whether you’re into history, architecture, or just need a quiet escape from the bustle of Tallinn, St. Peter’s Church is worth stepping inside. It’s a place that makes you pause, reflect, and maybe even wish your own ceiling at home was a little more “cathedral-like.”
Arnab — Google review
St. Peter’s Church in the heart of Riga’s Old Town offers an unforgettable experience, the soaring 13th-century tower provides panoramic views over the red-rooftops, the Daugava River and the modern city skyline. Inside, the blend of Gothic and Baroque architecture is impressive, and the history that echoes in the walls makes it more than just a photo-stop. A must-see when in Riga.
Samet M — Google review
The only thing I liked was the panoramic view of the city from the top. Entrance fee is high. You pay 8 euro to see the church only. And 13 to see the tower. There is a girl who works inside the lift (in this heat). Her job is to collect the tickets. She can’t leave the lift while it gets stuffed with people all the time in that hot weather. I suggest finding another way in collecting tickets and not inside the lift! So overall the view from the top was amazing but the entrance fees and procedures need a serious review
Zina A — Google review
9EUR to visit the church and do up to the tower via 3 flights of stairs and an elevator. As soon as you step out of the elevator you are on the viewing platform which can be very windy but views are beautiful especially with nice weather. Church itself is nice and peaceful.
Yeesh R — Google review
St. Peter’s Church is one of Riga’s must-see landmarks, especially because of its stunning viewing tower. After taking the lift up, you’re rewarded with a panoramic view over the entire city.

Ala Pagrabs is a popular underground tavern in Riga's Old Town, offering a wide selection of Latvian beers, contemporary local cuisine, and live music. This subterranean hangout is housed in an ancient wine cellar and is beloved by both locals and tourists. The venue stays open until 6am, making it a great spot for dinner and late-night drinks.
One of the best restaurants I have been to! The mood there is cool, each meal we tasted was delicious! The alcohol free beer is the best I have had in my life. Definitely a must to be place during your visit in Riga.
Wojciech P — Google review
Visited in Sep 2025 Folkklubs Ala Pagrabs was recommended to us as the most popular bar amongst locals. Therefore decided to pay a visit after dinner. Conveniently located in the old town of Riga, this watering hole is a truly happening place. We tried a few Latvian beers which were quite good. Didn’t try any food as we visited the place after dinner, but there is a proper food menu for those wanting to visit this place for food & drinks. You should surely try the local Latvian beers available on tap here. I would definitely recommend visiting this local watering hole if you want to experience a local bar scene and want to try some proper Latvian beers.
Avijeet S — Google review
We had such a great time that we went back twice. It was full both times so we ended up at the bar but we had a great time there. They do have great garlic bread but the meal servings are so large that it might be a mistake to order it too. All the food we had was really good, and we tried a huge variety of drinks: the lager tasting flight, hot Riga black balsam in red currant juice (the way to do it), the local moonshine (infused liquor), the burning beer (very good for sipping!), a local cider, and an anise-flavored liquor that was very sweet. Our bartender, Laura, gave a ton of context and suggestions and we were lucky to run into her both times. There was also live music and the atmosphere was great. Great place to eat and hang out for a while. Prepare to be flexible if you don’t make a reservation. It got pretty noisy on Saturday night but not to a bad level.
Mary S — Google review
This place was recommended by our local tour guide. We had an absolutely wonderful experience at this restaurant. I ordered the grilled pork ribs in beer marinate and it was hands down one of the best dish I’ve ever had. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender and melted in my mouth. Also our waitress recommended the traditional battered chicken fillet folk club style, which was creamy and juicy inside. We loved their ginger beer (ingwer beer). It was refreshing and a perfect pairing either way our meals. The waitress was incredibly attentive, friendly and made us feel genuinely welcomed. Highly recommend!

Love this place. Must visit if you in Riga. Authentic place with amazing food and service! Located in seller with plenty of space, better to book for dinner especially for weekend, but u may be in luck for free table and always can pop in for drink. Recommended!

Lovely pub with live music every day! Delicious food and huge beer selection! Recommend:) we go here every Wednesday for folk dancing! Definitely try the honey beer while you’re here. If you’re in more than 2 people it’s better to make a reservation as it’s quite popular. And be aware, it is very very warm inside!

Amazing place. A must visit when you come to Riga. We were lucky - that evening there was a live band concert - the performers are unreal, exciting and do not let you be sad. Great place, easy to find, right in the old town. I recommend booking a table during an event - a place to sit is guaranteed. The waiters are nice and helpful, fast. The menu has a large selection - both food and drinks. We tasted everything and shared dishes. The portions are large in my opinion. The food is very, very tasty.

If you're in Riga and craving some heat to combat the chilly Baltic nights, look no further than Indian Raja. This vibrant eatery is a haven for spice lovers, serving up an array of fiery curries that might just make you sweat! The menu features delightful options like potato-stuffed naan and flavorful lentil soup, alongside the infamous Vindaloo curry—just be warned, it packs quite a punch!
During our trip to Riga, we had dinner at Indian Raja on a quiet Thursday evening. There were plenty of tables available, making it a relaxing dining experience. Our server was incredibly polite and gave us ample time to explore the menu. Based on recommendation, we tried the Tandoori Vegetables as a starter, and it turned out to be a fantastic choice. The portion size was huge—almost like a main dish—and easily enough for two to share. For the mains, we ordered Shahi Paneer and Naan. The Shahi Paneer was bursting with authentic flavors, and the Naan was perfectly cooked—soft yet crispy in all the right places. If you're in Riga Old Town and craving authentic, delicious Indian cuisine, try out at Indian Raja. A truly satisfying experience!

Caters well to vegetarians and vegans. Enjoyed a nice meal here. The rigas black balsam I would recommend trying although I cannot promise that it tastes nice. The curry was decent however complared to an authentic curry it lacked flavour a little. Still a nice meal.

Authentic Indian cuisine in the heart of Riga Old town. Everything we ordered was very tasty and we got our order fast enough. Huge menu and you definitely can find something suitable for you. I could say that the prices are good, especially for the Old town. Recommended! We plan to visit Indian Raja in future to taste other menu items.

Wonderfully calm atmosphere, kind service and delicious food. We had the Palak Paneer as well as the Paneer Pasanda, both of which were really delicious. We had never tried Paneer Pasanda before and were really impressed with these delicious little "sandwiches". Like most Indian places, Raja is also a fabulous for vegetarians. Edit: It was so great, we went twice in our four-night stay!

Food court
The food court BURZMA offers a fantastic ambiance and breathtaking scenery. Despite some complaints about the prices and wait times, it is important to remember that this place is situated in the old town, so expectations should be adjusted accordingly. Patrons are not only paying for their meals but also for the entire experience which includes comfort, views, and variety of options. Although music can be loud in certain areas near the bar, there are plenty of quieter spots throughout the spacious venue.
Awesome food court in the heart of Riga, located on the top floor of the shopping mall! There’s something for everyone here—from traditional Latvian dishes to pizza, sushi, and more. The space is modern and has plenty of seating, so it’s easy to find a spot. Perfect place to go if you’re unsure what you’re craving; you’re bound to find something delicious! Highly recommend!

Vibey food court with lots of options. Located at the top of the shopping centre, offers nice views of the city. Option to sit outside on the balcony. Lots of seating inside. Pizza was great, chewy dough, lots of toppings. Chicken baos were flavourful and the bao was fluffy.

Good place nice view. Fine choice of different metal and kitchen. But still feels a bit cheep. Hard to tell what is it. They try to escape feeling of a food court, and thy succeed 55% :) Worth to come for a lunch.

Absolutely fantastic place! Perfect for groups who all want something different and you cannot choose where to go. Here everyone can choose their own food to their likings and friends can sit together. But... There is a big flaw. There are only 2 toilets for 10+ restaurants and bars. There's always a que behind the toilets.
Teodor U — Google review
Atmospheric food court with cool and fresh design at the top floor of shopping center Galerija Centrs. The place has stunning views to rooftops of Old Riga and terrace to be enjoyed on warmer seasons. I especially enjoy it on Saturdays early evenings, it’s vibrant and mostly full. I suggest sitting around bar area, near the terrace, the best vibe is there. Service differs at places, having from terrible to terrific. But for food court the main things are food and atmosphere and these are great. Food variety will suit everyone-burgers, pizzas, tacos, bao buns, pokes, asian noodles, sushi, hinkali, classic “home” food, etc. Plus great bar for cocktails, wine or fresh oysters. My favorite food spots are Vínkalni pizza and Hachapuri bistro.

A Little Hidden Treasure on the 4th Floor of Riga’s Old Town Burzma isn’t just a food hall, it’s a celebration of taste, style, and that special kind of Riga energy you can’t quite explain, only feel. Tucked away on the top floor of Galerija Centrs, right in the heart of Old Riga, Burzma is where I always send tourists who can’t decide what they’re craving. Why? Because here, you don’t have to choose. Sushi, tacos, pizza from a real wood-fired oven, khachapuri, cocktails, coffee, and desserts that look like they belong in a museum, it’s all in one beautifully designed, buzzing space. Whenever I do tours, Burzma is a must-stop on the list. It’s perfect not just for food, but for the whole experience: cozy yet modern interiors, great rooftop views, and events that breathe life into every visit. But what I especially love is how easy everything feels. Whether you want a good cocktail or just need to grab something from the supermarket downstairs, or even pick up a last-minute Latvian souvenir, you’ve got it all in one place. It’s stylish, welcoming, and always buzzing with a feel-good vibe. If you’re in Riga and want a taste of everything, quite literally, Burzma is the place to be. It’s where flavors, cultures, and people meet.

Locale Restaurant is a cozy corner in Riga where you can experience a delightful blend of East and West cultures. The restaurant offers an authentic Italian menu led by Chef Riccardo Melfi, featuring classic dishes like homemade pasta and wood-fired pizzas. While it's not a Georgian food spot, Locale surprises visitors with its warm atmosphere and delicious Italian cuisine.
I would like to express my great satisfaction with the service provided by the waiter Humbat, who was not only polite but also communicated with me in my native language, which made my visit much easier and more enjoyable. His professionalism and dedication were evident at every step – he perfectly understood my needs and responded promptly to all requests. His preparation and attention to detail made me feel exceptionally well taken care of. Highly recommended! Dziękuję za to że spotkałam Cię akurat w moje urodziny, pozdrawiam🫶 Overall, we visited two days in a row, and each time the food surprised us with its uniqueness and exceptionally delicious taste.

Enjoyed a lovely meal here. Vegetarian options were great as were the vegan options. Waitress was really attentative to dietry restrictions which was a lovely approach. Would come back to have some authentic georgian and mediteranian food when in Riga!

We waited for the food way too long. We order the beef tenderloin, but it was way below expectations. We ended up sending the food back and went to a different restaurant. I do not recommend this place.
Kristine S — Google review
Locale Restaurant in Riga delivered a fantastic dining experience for our group of seven. We enjoyed two Margherita pizzas, a Diavola pizza, Georgian appetizers, deep-fried cauliflower, and a wholesome Georgian eggplant dish. The pizzas were perfectly baked, with the Diavola standing out for its spicy kick. The Georgian dishes were flavorful and authentic, particularly the eggplant. The pear lemonade was exceptional—its fresh, sweet flavor was a standout, and the watermelon lemonade was also incredibly refreshing. Service was friendly and impressively efficient, making us feel well taken care of. Overall, Locale is a great choice for both Georgian cuisine and pizza lovers, offering a memorable and satisfying experience.

Very nice restaurant. We felt wery welcomed. The service was very kind and courteous. The food is excellent. Every single bite was a pleasure! Only negative thing: It was a little bit cold in the restaurant. But everything else: top!

Good looking place for a lunch or dinner. The location is perfect in terms of a window view and nit far from the city centre. The interior is also very pleasant and posh to some extent. The variety of food is worth trying. The personal is full of care and attention.

We were 4 persons for a late dinner (9pm) without table booking. Cannot tell is mostly Italian restaurant, it kinda Georgian - Italian fusion. Ravioli I had were very good for local selection, let's say. We have found very nice pizza selection in the menu and rare almost unique for our location. Haven't tried pizza this time, but next time I will pay a visit specially for this occasion, as restaurant has Pizzaiolo from Naples, and it cannot be bad by default already, and must be the best pizza here! I liked atmosphere inside so much, tables placed in the way when in the full restaurant conditions, you have a feeling you have enough of space for your company. I liked that restaurant have super cosy nice bar, with the barmen constantly in the process of doing their unique cocktails, I believe is friendly place for a long cocktail at the bar for two. However I think the staff has to be bit trained for better service provision. Our waiter couldn't made a wine suggestion. Plates were removed immediately after meal is finished or almost finished, even with the last bite on the plate, it was strange, and gives the feeling that we have to go already, no time for desserts. And when the client say just quietly - 'Thank you!', when an empty wine glass is taken from the table, you don't reply - 'you are very welcome!'

Restaurant
Niklāvs is a charming restaurant in the old town that offers a cozy ambiance and a mix of traditional Latvian dishes with modern twists. The generous starter plate provides an array of authentic Latvian flavors, while the main courses are equally abundant. Despite some overload of onion rings, the taste of calves cheek stands out. The friendly and efficient wait staff adds to the overall positive dining experience, making it highly recommended for foreign tourists seeking great value for money.
I love this restaurant. The food is delicious and artfully presented. The wait staff is friendly and charming. The first time I ate here with one other person and the second time we were a group of eight. Both meals were wonderful. My friends want to come back.
Rebecca A — Google review
My husband and I visited and found the place completely empty. We sat waiting for about ten minutes, and when a group of eight arrived and took a seat nearby, a waitress walked right past us and went directly to take their drinks order—without even acknowledging us. It was incredibly rude and unprofessional. We got up and left, and we won’t be returning. Instead, we went to Melnā Bite, where we were warmly welcomed by the staff. The food and wine were excellent, and the atmosphere was fantastic. We were happy to spend €250 there—and it was well worth it.

Very tasty modern versions of the traditional Latvian dishes! Interesting seasonal and classical menu, very polite waiters who speak English and Russian, quite reasonable prices. They also have breakfasts from 7 to 10:30 am, lunches, and brunches on Sundays. Lovely place in the old town, definitely worth visiting.

Latvian cousine. Nice and cozy restaurant combining old with new styles. Starter plate was very generous with plenty of Latvian tastes. Main courses were also generous. My choice was a bit overloaded with onion rings but the taste of calves cheek was good. Waitress had a very good working attitude. I recommend this restaurant to any foreign tourist. Great value for money.

I would recommend this place. It has good food for decent price. I had there chicken rolled in bacon and home made ice cream for desert. With water I paid 22€ in total which is still good. Nice and friendly waitress as well.

The butter varieties they serve at the beginning was tasty and interesting, i didnt find redbeet hummus tasty at all, but the breads were all right and warm. It is always a big plus when the restaurant serves warm bread. As a main course i ordered the calf cheek with chanterelle mushrooms. It was in a Latvian style i enjoyed it. It tasted great. As a desert i chose the marzipan ice cream cake, it was very delicious. The blueberries were carefully sellected as they were quite big.

Architectural Buildings
The House of the Black Heads, a Gothic-style property constructed in 1334, showcases medieval cellars and a remarkable presidential silver collection. Despite being bombed during World War II, the building's architectural splendor was restored in the 1990s. Its Dutch Renaissance-inspired appearance features vibrant colors and exquisite ornamentation. The adjacent municipal square was built concurrently with the palace. Visitors can admire its stunning facade and explore museum exhibits and a re-created grand conference hall inside.
An absolute must-see in Riga! The House of the Blackheads is one of the most beautiful buildings in the Old Town — its stunning facade and detailed sculptures are breathtaking. The interior is equally impressive, with elegant halls, historical artifacts, and a fascinating medieval cellar that’s the only original part of the building. It’s hard to believe this place was destroyed in WWII and rebuilt in the 1990s — the reconstruction is so detailed, it feels like stepping back in time. Staff were friendly, and the exhibits are well organized and available in several languages. Perfect for history lovers, architecture fans, or anyone exploring Riga. Highly recommended — give yourself at least an hour to fully enjoy it!

Nice to see. Impressive reconstructed fassade. Nice exhibition inside but not necessary to pay entrance and to see the view rooms. For longer stay or if you are really interested. Otherwise just enjoy it from outside
Micha D — Google review
The House of the Black Heads is one of the most iconic landmarks in Riga’s Old Town. Originally built in the 14th century as a guild for unmarried merchants, shipowners, and foreigners, it has always been a center of culture and celebration. The building you see today is a faithful reconstruction, as the original was destroyed during World War II. With its striking Gothic façade decorated with Renaissance details, it is a masterpiece that reflects Riga’s rich history and vibrant spirit. Inside, you’ll find beautifully restored halls, exhibitions about the city’s past, and a glimpse into the life of the Brotherhood of Black Heads. I warmly recommend adding the House of the Black Heads to your itinerary when exploring Riga. It’s not only a chance to admire one of the city’s most stunning architectural gems but also to step into a place where history, art, and culture truly come alive.
Khalil B — Google review
Wonderful museum and reconstructed building. The original building was completed destroyed in the Second World War, and the present building was opened in 1999 but it's a beautiful replica as close to the original as possible and an iconic building of Latvia. The outside is spectacular and the indoor tour starts with a tour of the original foundations in the basement and historical information. The upper floors are grand hallways and stately rooms which are impressive. One of our favourite buildings in Riga.
David P — Google review

Stelios E — Google review
The most famous place in Riga. It has a beautiful history. Especially when traveling between the underground and the upper floors, you feel as if you are visiting two different places. Especially the portraits of the leaders of different nations that ruled in Latvia were impressive and instructive for me.

A stunning gem in Old Riga with a captivating façade that reflects centuries of history. Originally built in 1334 for merchant gatherings and later home to the Brotherhood of Blackheads, this landmark features ornate Renaissance-Mannerist ornamentation added in the 1600s and late‑19th‑century sculptures by August Volz. It was destroyed in WWII and lovingly reconstructed from 1996–1999 with public and city funding. Today it houses a museum and elegant ballrooms, offers multi‑language audio guides, and displays a medieval cellar dating back to the 14th century. Perfect for history lovers and architecture fans!
Abhiraj C — Google review
Walked by while trying to go into the main square and saw this beautiful building. Big and detailed, with a clock that has everything: seconds, minutes, hours, days, months. I heard inside there is a part with a glass floor, which sounds scary, but exciting. From the outside the architecture is just beautiful, recommend to visit while staying in Riga. While we were there are second time, there was a sign with the cat from the Flow movie I'm assuming and it's really cool.

Nestled in the heart of Old Town, Riga Cathedral stands as a magnificent testament to centuries of architectural evolution. This medieval Lutheran church, constructed in the 13th century, showcases an impressive blend of Romanesque, early Gothic, and Baroque styles. As the largest medieval church in the Baltic States, it serves not only as a place of worship but also as a vibrant concert venue featuring its remarkable 19th-century pipe organ.
Beautiful and historic cathedral in the heart of Riga’s Old Town. The mix of architectural styles is really impressive, and the atmosphere inside is peaceful and inspiring. I especially recommend hearing the famous pipe organ if you get the chance—it's unforgettable. A must-visit when you're in Riga!
Bishal U — Google review
The Riga Cathedral is one of the oldest religious buildings in Latvia and the Baltic region. It was founded in 1211. The Cathedral has been rebuilt and enlarged several times over the centuries, having the architectural elements of Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque etc. The Cathedral has one of of the world's most valuable historic organs from 19th century. There is an entrance fee to visit the Cathedral, but it's worth every penny. It's truly majestic and very beautiful inside. Don't miss the cloister and courtyard area that contain a collection of artifacts and canons too. There is an option to attend organ concerts, explore the organ balcony, and take tower tours, though we didn't do any of these. Highly recommend a visit to this
Soudamini M — Google review
Riga Cathedral is the largest cathedral in the Baltic region, located in the old town of Riga. Unfortunately, there is a fee to enter, but if you are not interested in church architecture, it may be more interesting to visit other places such as museums. Also, on some important days in Latvia, free concerts are held in the cathedral.
Hüseyn Q — Google review
Visited for the piccolo concerto, I hesitated as it was not cheap for only 20min… it was worth every penny !!!! Instantly got goosebumps when the organist started hitting the keys and pedals. Such a unique experience in a beautiful cathedral.
Mona R — Google review
You can't miss it! Everything about Riga Cathedral is big, bigger or biggest. It is the largest church in the Baltic States, the church is located on the largest square in the city and the organ was once the largest instrument in the world. The first church was built in 1211 by Bishop Albert van Buxhoeveden, the Romanesque altar is a reminder of this. At the end of the 14th/beginning of the 15th century the church was enlarged and given a Gothic appearance. The new, partly wooden tower that was completed in 1595 was one of the highest in the world at 140 meters. Because the tower had fallen into disrepair over the centuries (wooden structures were rotten), the Riga city council decided in 1775 to replace it with a smaller, "only" 90 meters high, Baroque copy. Despite all the destruction caused by fires and the Reformation, the interior has plenty of interesting things to offer: medieval tombstones, the pulpit from 1641, and the 6718-pipe organ. Riga Cathedral: you can't miss it, you shouldn't miss it.
Koen — Google review
Went for the organ concert at 12:00. It's a bit tricky to chose where to sit. I recommend coming around 15-20 minutes early to be zhere before tourist groups. Sit on the front benches facing the side of the cathedral. that way you can see the screen projectors on the collums at the front (they have a camera showing the organ player) and thr organ pipes in the back.

Riga Castle, also known as Rigas pils, is a restored Neo-Classical Medieval castle that serves as the official residence and offices of the President of Latvia. It houses two museums and has a rich history dating back to the 14th century. While parts of the castle are off-limits due to security reasons, visitors can explore its tourist-friendly areas and learn about Riga's beginnings.
Very intersting. There is no big exhibition now but the halls themselves are big and beautiful, in the basement there are remains of walls from the 13th century, and a tower from the 16th century. The windows offer stunning views of Riga, it is worth it just for this. There is a place to sit, if you have the opportunity, go at sunset. There is also a wardrobe.

Riga Castle is the main residence of the President of Latvia, and a new museum is currently being organized in the castle, which is open to the public only on museum nights (in may). However, the new museum covers some rooms of the castle, but the presidential meeting rooms, important halls, and an exhibition of gifts to Latvia from different countries are not included in the museum.

Riga Castle was founded on 1330 on the bank of Daugava River in Riga, Latvia. The castle has survived many wars and been rebuilt several times over the centuries. Currently it serves as the official residence of the President of Latvia. There were no exhibits in the museum, but the renovated rooms are interesting to visit. Through the window one can have a good view of the city surrounding the castle including the river. Liked the castle even without any Exhibits.

In the heart of Old Town Riga, Kalku Varti is a popular restaurant known for its delicious cuisine and modern decor with nods to Latvian traditions. The restaurant offers a courtyard terrace where guests can dine surrounded by ancient stone walls during the summer months. Specializing in Latvian cuisine, Kalku Varti puts a contemporary twist on traditional dishes using seasonal local ingredients.
We went there along with the locals. So I believe this is popular among the locals and possibly serves authentic local cuisine. The food options were great and so was the taste. Staff were very polite and overall a warm feeling. I would recommend this place for visitors. I assume reservation is mandatory here.
GV V — Google review
We were looking forward to our dining experience at Kalku Varti after it had been recommended by some locals. Upon arriving the friendly server greeted us and sat us immediately. The restaurant is very homey and comfortable with a lovely outdoor seating area in the back. Perfect for a romantic evening. Looking over the tasty sounding items my partner chose the grilled chicken breast with bok choy. I chose the beef cheeks with roasted vegetables. From there plentiful wine list we chose a wine that would go with both entrees. My beef cheeks were tender and would have been very good but the chef had put a thick brown gravy over the tender beef which took away any of the flavor the dish would have had. The roasted vegetables were prepared nicely but, again, the gravy, which seemed like it came out of a package, hid all the freshness and flavor of this locally sourced produce. My wife's experience was not any better. Her chicken was dry although she said it had a nice herbal flavor. The bok choy was hard as a rock and inedible. By the time we tracked down our waiter, we did not want to wait around for something different. Kalku Vardi did comp us a delicious desert. We have read so many positive reviews, we will give Kalku Varti another visit on our return to Riga.

Tres chic restaurant — very stylish and elegant, though I personally like eating a bit more like a savage 😄🍴. Started with gazpacho soup, paired with a variety of good breads. The beef burger was juicy and delicious, and the homemade fried potatoes were a real treat (not easy to find everywhere!). Paired it with Spanish homemade wine — solid choice. Finished with avocado panna cotta, light and not overly sweet — a refreshing ending. Chic vibes, tasty food, worth a visit!
Serter Y — Google review
Very good restaurant because of atmosphere and service. Food is tasty and mostly made from local ingredients, maybe a little lacking in sophistication and flavor nuances, but still very good. Local made bread rolls is what the kids love the most.
Juris M — Google review
Excellent food and service. Vegetarian and fish wonderful. They also serve plenty of meat but I can't vouch for that. The dishes were all beautifully presented and the food was so fresh and seasonal. Unfortunately no pictures of starters - ate them before we had chance - they were awesome! Tomato stuffed with herby burrata and a salad with strawberries an walnut - I wouldn't have put these flavours together but they were amazing. Marked atmosphere down, I'm sure it could have been amazing however at evening dinner service the table next to us had an unruly toddler and screaming baby and there seemed to be gaggles of teenagers wandering in and out and hanging around the bar - more like a kids club than gourmet restaurant.

Costa Coffee is a popular international coffee chain that offers a variety of hot and cold drinks, as well as sweet snacks and sandwiches. While exploring Riga, you can find several Costa Coffee locations, including two in the old town area. The ambiance at Costa Coffee in Latvia is cozy with ample seating options. The staff is known for being friendly and competent. Although there may be some queues due to popularity, it's a great spot to relax and enjoy good coffee.
Staff is always friendly, the coffee is good and the prices are reasonable. This is a high traffic coffee shop. A lot of people stop by just to use the bathroom. Despite that, they keep everything clean. Well done. The only complaint I have is that if you’re paying cash they often can’t make change. That’s not the end of the world, but good to know before you visit.

What a great place to get a nice cup of latte and strudel in the middle od the old town Riga. Super friendly staff speak English and take care of you. An amazing cherry strudel and a pretty awesome apple strudel satisfied our sweet tooth in the afternoon. Very cozy atmosphere. You must stop in this cool place during your visit in the old town Riga! 🏆🏆🏆🏆⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s clear that this is a chain restaurant. The service was okay, but the staff lacked enthusiasm. I’ll give them credit for the coffee—it was good. However, the décor felt uninspired, and overall, the atmosphere lacked character and energy.

Got a good amount of coffee for the price and could also charge my phone and laptop since many of the seats are equipped with power sockets. There was also free wifi, but it was a bit slow even for normal web surfing. The café has two floors with nice interiors and lots of seats, there is also guest WCs available on both floors

B Bārs Restorāns is a popular and lively establishment located in the heart of Riga. It offers a haven of peace with a velvet balsam atmosphere, making it the perfect place to enjoy some of the best cocktails in town. The restaurant hosts live music nights and themed events, drawing in crowds on Fridays and weekends. Additionally, it provides entertainment for children with a well-equipped playroom.
We just had a great lunch here after the organ concert at the Cathedral. Delicious carrot and coconut soup. Tasty potato pancakes with truffle filling. Quiet on a Monday. Excellent service and they have an English menu if needed.

Went there for Riga Restaurant week 2024 with my wife and we're both very positively surprised! First of all, by the photos the portions do not look very big, but we got pretty full, so that was not an issue. All the food was truly amazing, pumpkin basket with halva (fudge) is something out of this world! Duck breast was perfectly cooked! The dessert was a bit too sweet for both of us, but still a good one. This place is definitely one of the Riga gems.

B Bars – Riga Bbars restaurant is located behind the Riga Cathedral in Riga Old Town. Because of its location, it seemed more private than many of the Old Town restaurants. They offer indoor or outdoor seating. Bbars offers a superb selection of European and Latvian cuisine. The restaurant is a favorite watering hole for locals. It offers a happy hour, a live DJ, and a fantastic sharing menu. Latvian potato pancake appetizers are an ideal start to a delightful meal. A must-try soup is Bbars Buyabeze soup, a traditional Latvian cold pink beetroot soup. Do not let the color turn you off. For our main courses, I had a generous portion of Baltic Sea squid, and Mary chose the juicy beef steak. Both came with traditional potato cakes and a variety of local vegetables. We were both delighted with our choices. Riga Black Balsam was our dessert, generously provided by the excellent staff at Bbars. Pro Tip: Riga Black Balsam is a powerful Latvian liqueur. We left Bbars in a happy mood.

Great atmosphere and service, full of people on a Saturday night! DJ plays in the evenings! We decided to try 3 appetizers from the menu - salmon tartare with avocado and cucumber salsa, the portion is very good and very tasty! Vitello tonnato simple and great! But the star of the evening was fried squid, so tender, easy to chew and fabulously tasty, only 11 euros!!! I recommend visiting this place ! And Espresso Martini !👏

Muusu is a charming restaurant with a focus on detail, from its Nordic-inspired decor to the presentation of its dishes, which are like works of art. The menu offers great options for vegetarians, vegans, and those with gluten intolerance. Housed in a historic building dating back to 1739, the restaurant spans three beautiful floors and features original nearly 300-year-old stairs. The staff provides quietly professional service and the food is described as close to perfection.
Great discovery found open on this Christmas period. They can be booked through local Rigan website. Service was perfectly timed, advices just were perfect, and smile was there too The back room ambiance was so restful ! Food was close to heavenperfection, cooking and temperature were faultless and portions were more than enough. Little disappointment on the toilets where nothing was available to dry your hands A must go

This was a perfect choice for Valentine's day dinner, but all began with a lost localization by my mobile phone ( as in the old town sometikes the gps gets confused ) solved promptly by our waitress coming to the street and trying to localizing us :) and we sure did "get caught" :) Upon arrival we were conducted to our table which happen to be in the 1rst floor. The restaurant is very stylish and cozy, we ordered a glass of champagne and asked for starters and while waiting for them we ate that magnificent truffle butter with that tasty black bread, that was really awsome :) Meanwhile the Shrimp Ceviche and the Tuna had arrived to the table, tasting them was a magnificent experience of tastes, they were really fabulous. For the main we ordered an entrecote plus the wild Venision and as just judging by the starters this ones would not let us bad, they were magnificent, the meat was cooked really in the point to taste and the sauces were very delicious. For enjoying more the taste of the meat we drunk a chianti. For dessert we split a special Valentine's day dessert which i can´t remember what it was, i just remember it was very tasty. All the experience was so good and the staff so friendly that we asked where to go after which they promtply told us to go to a bar that is part of their chain. But that is another story ( or review ) :) I can recomend again and again this restaurant.

the food is innovative and well prepared, the service is attentive. Really recommended to have a nice dinner there, it is not much more expensive than any other place in the area, and I would say it is a much better experience. One small recommendation: get an appetizer and a main dish, and do not order a side. The portions are definitely big enough.

A lovely restaurant with a thoughtful balanced menu, a decent wine list and quietly professional staff who know the art of good service that's sensitive rather than overwhelming. I had the eel ravioli and sturgeon fillet. Both beautifully plated and done to perfection. I had the last unreserved table early on a Tuesday night so reservations are recommended. Building is from 1739 and the restaurant spans three beautiful floors. The stairs are original so nearly 300 years old.

A small, very cozy park. A pleasant children's playground, a small stage, where sometimes there are events. Lots of benches, a fountain, I especially like that in hot summers you can find shade to sit, the main round flower bed is extremely beautifully decorated, the old trees are taken care of. A great place to relax in the very busy center.

Galleria Riga is a modern and vibrant shopping mall located in the city center of Riga. With seven floors of retail space, it offers a wide range of stores to explore. One of its highlights is the Galleria Riga Rooftop, an open-air terrace on the 8th floor that provides stunning panoramic views of the city skyline.

This is a pretty place, but like much of the Riga center has lost a lot of tenants. You can still get a nice meal here. There is a nice sized Rimi for foodstuffs. H&M also has a store here. The upper floors are now occupied by a fitness center. Very clean, modern, and large WCs are on floor 7. Great place to kill time, shop for food, grab a snack or complete meal, and get out of the often cold or rainy outside.

The Freedom Monument, a 42-meter statue located in the city center of Riga's Old Town on Freedom Boulevard, is a striking landmark that pays tribute to Latvians who fought for independence between 1918 and 1920. Unveiled in 1935, this beautiful monument features a granite base with sculptures and bas-relief, a 19-meter travertine column, and a copper figure of Liberty holding aloft three gilded stars.
The Freedom Monument of Riga is located at the centre of old town of Riga. It was built between 1931 to 1935 to commemorate the soldiers killed during the Latvian war of independence. The monument is 42.7 meters in height, made up of granite and copper. The three stars at the top represent the historical unity of the Latvian nation. The location of the monument is walking distance from most part of Riga. The monument is beautiful and the area surrounding of the monument is equally beatiful with flowers and greeneries. Nice place for taking a walk or relaxation.

A visit to Riga would not be complete without pausing at this monument and exploring the vibrant landmarks that surround it.

Freedom Monument – Riga We visited the Freedom Monument last Sunday on a cold, drizzling day, which somehow made the atmosphere even more powerful. Standing tall in the heart of Riga, the monument is a striking symbol of Latvia’s independence and resilience. Built in 1935, it honours those who gave their lives during the Latvian War of Independence, and remarkably, it survived both Soviet and Nazi occupations as a quiet but steadfast reminder of national pride. Even in the grey weather, the monument and the surrounding area felt peaceful and dignified. The eternal flame and the changing of the guards add a special sense of respect and history. Definitely worth stopping by—whether for the history, the symbolism, or just to take in one of Riga’s most meaningful landmarks.

A Powerful Symbol of Latvia’s Spirit The Freedom Monument is one of the most important and iconic landmarks in Riga. Standing tall and proud in the heart of the city, it’s a powerful tribute to Latvia’s independence and resilience. The sculpture is striking, and the surrounding area — especially with the canal and Bastejkalna Park nearby — makes it a beautiful spot to visit, reflect, and take photos. I’ve passed by many times but haven’t yet had the chance to attend one of the ceremonial guard changes or national events here — hoping to catch one in the future. Even without stepping closer, the atmosphere around the monument feels respectful and meaningful. It’s a must-visit for anyone wanting to understand Latvia’s history and national pride.

The Freedom Monument (Brīvības piemineklis) is a must-see in Riga, symbolizing Latvia’s independence and national pride. It's beautifully located in the city center and perfect for photos, especially at sunrise or sunset. Changing of the guard happens hourly—don’t miss it! Tip: Combine your visit with a walk through Bastejkalna Park or stop by the nearby Old Town. Benches nearby offer a great rest spot. Ideal for history lovers and first-time visitors!

The Latvian National Opera and Ballet, a 19th-century neo-classical theater, is home to the national opera and ballet companies. It transcends language barriers in its performances, making it an ideal destination for cultural enthusiasts. The institution has nurtured internationally acclaimed talents such as Sonora Vaice, Elina Garanca, and Andris Nelson. Collaborations with renowned soloists and directors result in exceptional opera and ballet productions.
The Latvian National Opera House is one of Riga’s most elegant and iconic buildings. Its architecture is absolutely stunning — classic, grand, and perfectly situated right next to Bastejkalna Park and the canal. Every time I walk by, I’m amazed by how picturesque and well-preserved it is, especially when lit up in the evening. Sadly, I’ve never had the chance to see a performance or step inside, but it’s definitely on my list. If the interior is anything like the outside, I’m sure it’s breathtaking. Even just admiring it from the park nearby makes it worth a visit. A must-see for architecture lovers and anyone exploring central Riga!

Very nice place and I'd love those green based colour with golden inside. Opera performance, It costed 45Eur max for those ordinarily title opera performance, but we'd Lough and loved them. We are not Latvian speakers, so the caption for translation was necessary. If we knew it comes at the upper end of stage, we didn't get tickets for those first floor seats as it was a little lower level than the stage itself. Next time we are buying tickets for the seats at second floor.Ladies and gentlemen's room was at the left side of the first floor and hard to find it. As I got there, there was a long line. So those need restrooms should go right away for the brektime.
Mio M — Google review
A very beautiful and, it may sound a bit strange to say, but cozy opera house. Comfortable seats, professional performers, and everything is well organized and thought through. Even during the intermissions, there were no long lines at the bar or the restrooms. Overall, a great experience!

Beautifully restored building. Very good acoustics. Small enough so that all seats are good. Both Opera and Ballet; and occasionally Orchestral concerts or musical performances.
Boston C — Google review
Went to see Don Giovanni and overall, the experience was as expected. The performance itself was solid, and the atmosphere had the classic charm you’d hope for. A definite plus were the affordable ticket prices – great to see opera made more accessible. On the downside, the seating was quite cramped. The chairs were too close together, which made it a bit uncomfortable, especially for a longer performance.
Boris H — Google review
I was there for La Traviata, it was beautiful. The opera house itself is gorgeous, and the performance was great. 10/10 experience, I would definitely return. I suggest buying tickets a few weeks in advance to get good seats :)

Skyline Bar in Riga offers a unique Sunday brunch experience with live music and breathtaking panoramic views. The brunch menu features a wide variety of dishes including salads, starters, fish, meat and cheese appetizers, hot dishes like pizza and soup, as well as an array of desserts such as pancakes, waffles, croissants, eclairs, and more. In the evening, visitors can enjoy craft cocktails while taking in the stunning illuminated cityscape.
Our group stopped in Sunday for their Brunch - amazing! Definitely book in advance - every seat was full. When you arrive, there is a coat check and then a very nice hostess to seat you. There is a complimentary drink (Mimosa), and the layout of the buffet is explained to you. There is absolutely no rush to your reservation - lots of time to relax and chat with others. There is a great coffee station at the bar, and other drinks can be ordered from their menu. The food and dessert areas are in the back area of the lounge - delicious choices for anyone. From poke bowls to roast beef to vegetarian options - perfect. There is also a large starter and salad area if you are in the mood for a lighter fare. As for the dessert area, second and third trips are necessary hahaha. Overall, it may seem pricey, but taking in everything, including the very talented live two-man band playing for hours, this is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon - especially enjoying the best views in the city. We'll be back. Thanks.

Breathtaking Views & Amazing Cocktails! Located on the 26th floor of a hotel, this place offers incredible panoramic views of Riga. The service is friendly and professional, and the cocktails are not only delicious but also beautifully presented. A perfect spot for a sunset drink or a special evening out. Highly recommended! 🍸🌆✨
Marius S — Google review
Skyline offered views that easily justified one visit, with a wide panorama across Riga that looked especially sharp at night when the city lights were out. Beyond the view, the experience was much less impressive. The bar felt dated in its layout and atmosphere, with very little energy in the room. On the evening I visited, it was quiet to the point of feeling empty, which took away the buzz you expect from a rooftop venue. Drinks were competent. Service was polite & nice. The bar gave the impression of having had better days in the past but now being a space that people go to once for the view rather than as a place to spend the evening. It was fine for the outlook, though the experience itself was flat.

Great bar to have a drink and a bite while you look at the Riga landscape (or sunset if you catch it). The bar is fancy but not extremely. Prices are reasonable given the kinda exclusive view you are offered and the quality of the food/cocktails. Even the elevator has a great view. Cheers.

I just came for a drink. The place is located within the Raddison hotel, just take the lift to the 26th floor. You can choose where to sit and a waitress comes to take your order. Variety of cocktails which were nice. Yes it’s pricier than other places but you’re paying premium for the lovely views and cute ambiance. I recommend to sit on the left hand side when you enter the bar for better views at night.

The Latvian National Theatre, located in Riga, is a modern and historically significant institution with a rich 100-year-old tradition. The eclectic-style building holds great historical importance as it was the site where Latvia declared its independence in 1918. With three auditoriums accommodating between 70 to 700 spectators, the theatre continues to be a prominent cultural hub. Its Neo-Baroque architecture adds to its charm and serves as a reminder of Latvia's past.

Restaurant
Stage22 is a renowned cocktail bar and restaurant located on the top floor of the Grand Kempinski hotel in Riga. It offers a sophisticated take on Baltic cuisine, using locally sourced seasonal ingredients. The venue provides an awe-inspiring view of the Opera House and its park, with a spacious terrace for guests to enjoy. The menu features unique dishes like carbonated cucumber soup, truffle burger, and spirulina noodles.
I was pleasantly suprised by this restaurant. I expected small dishes and expensive food, but everything was quite differently. True main dishes was a bit pricey, but I have seen much more expensive restaurants in Riga. But other dishes prices was more than OK. Vegetables in tempura were large and appetizers portion also was more than OK. I will return. Must have to visit, if you like good quality food and beautiful landscapes.

Wonderful experience here! The sake drink I had was incredible and the ramen was fabulous. Would definitely eat here again
Jaime S — Google review
Prestigious location in the heart of the city, offering panoramic views over parks and rooftops. The food is of excellent quality, though the portions—especially for the business lunch and tuna tataki—are on the smaller side. The matcha-flavoured tiramisu is a standout. Service is attentive and professional. However, the dining experience is let down by the presentation: being seated at a worn table with utensils placed directly on the surface feels careless and unhygienic. A simple upgrade, like adding stylish placemats and improving the table setting, would go a long way. The interior is dark and eclectic—definitely a matter of personal taste.

The location is in the heart of the city, offering beautiful views over parks and rooftops. The food (we tried ramen) was good, but not surprisingly good. But oysters surprised us 😍 overall - experience was very good. The waitress was very nice and attentive. Prices - very normal.

Stage at the Kempinski offered one of the best overall experiences in Riga. The views over the city were excellent, framed by a setting that was designed to make the most of them. The staff were professional and attentive without being overbearing, and they created a smooth, well-organised experience. The location itself was central and convenient, which added to the strength of the visit. Stage showed the standard you would expect from a hotel of this level, and it was executed properly in both service and atmosphere.

Wow wow wow. This restaurant sits atop the Kempinski Hotel in Riga. We visited in the evening so no view as such but during the day I’m sure the vista would be marvellous. So to the food. It was extremely good. Some of the freshest juiciest oysters I’ve ever eaten. Sweet succulent spider crab. The lobster tail was cooked to perfection. The accompanying bisque balanced yet punchy. Service was genuinely warm and welcoming. Price point pretty reasonable. By no means cheap even by western standards but it was worth every Euro.

I am sorry but I can only report considerable disappointment with this restaurant. We were there on a Tuesday night and there were only 3 other tables occupied. There was no reason for the service to be so poor. The waiters did not scan the restaurant and the only time we got service was when I waved them down, which we should never have to do. Frustratingly there was a compulsory 10% service charge which was the tip for the service. I don’t mind tipping, see my review of Bistro 18 in Vilnius, and when we gave the waiter the tip he said “Are you sure” as we were generous. I like to reward good service. I find compulsory tips result in poor service. I was also disappointed as the wine we purchased was available by the glass or bottle. We told the waiter we would buy the bottle but they charged us by the glass. Why not be honest. Don’t try to screw out every bit of money you can. That is disappointing. Lastly we have lived in Asia for a number of years, so we have a good understanding of Asian food and we also understand what Asian Fusion should be. But it should not be Asian food simplified, the richness and appeal should be there. Two of the meals we ordered were not available. My guess is this restaurant is not what it used to be.
Peter V — Google review
Came here because there was an offer for a Rigas Restaurant Week. 3 course menu for 45EUR + vine menu for 18EUR. Food and vine selection were really good, but a service lacked. We were served by 3 ladies. One didn't speak Latvian (but this is a minor problem). Vine serving wasn't perfect, and waitress poured a wine over a table more than one time - leaving a drops there. Service person were kind and gentle, but a service was a bit sloppy. Wines paired with food came earlier or later. At the end of a meal, we were given a receipt, and it already included a 10% of a tip. We are not in USA, and a tip shouldn't be mandatory. Especially if there is a special promotion, and you are advertising fixed prices. I am a person that usually gives a tip based on experience, but I don't like if it gots asked. This has ruined completely our experience, and will make us not return to this place. Also, a music is a bit too loud and didn't allow freely speaking.

Pastry shop
Kūkotava is a renowned café in Riga, known for its delightful French-inspired viennoiserie and patisserie. The charming establishment offers a wide array of cakes, pies, pastries, and baked goods. Recently expanded to include salads and sandwiches, Kūkotava has become a popular spot for breakfast among locals. The elegant interior perfectly complements the beauty of their offerings.
Very nice cafe. The smell of cake and butter when you enter is fantastic. Great coffee A very nice selection of cake. Friendly and fast service. Great place to have a coffee break
Yo L — Google review
I still have the first memory of coming to this cafe last year January, on a very cold winter. Everything seemed so lifeless and gray in Latvia until I found this place. The smell of croissants and coffee and very nice music that goes along with the atmosphere completely changed the mood of my day. Not just pastries and salad are good, but also the cakes are demuring. I personally recommend the traditional cake Napoleon. I have tried in many different cafes in Latvia to compare the taste. However, none of them has won over Kūkotava yet. The locals have known this place since long, while nowadays many tourists come as well to enjoy brunch or dessert after a meal. Hope you go and give yourself a nice treat. Never bad to start a day with a sweet cake and a warm coffee🍰☕️

I’ve always loved the sweets from this place — everything I’ve tried before has been delicious. That’s why I was so excited to visit the new branch on Antonias 11. Unfortunately, this time I was really disappointed. The pastry I tasted was rubbery, as if it had been baked days ago, and the lemon cream had no lemon flavor or aroma at all. Sadly, it felt like money wasted(

During our trip, we kept coming back to this place — both to their dessert shop and their gourmet deli. The desserts are absolutely wonderful, and the deli is perfect if you’re looking for a quick but delicious lunch or light dinner. They have amazing salads with avocado, shrimp, tuna, or duck, plus tasty quiches and many other options. The coffee is excellent as well. It’s a lovely spot to sit both indoors and outdoors when the weather is nice. We stayed nearby for three days and ended up visiting every single day — and even grabbed some snacks to take home with us. Prices are very reasonable, and whether you’re in the mood for something sweet, savory, or just a little bite to go, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Absolutely loved Kūkotava! The salads were super fresh and full of flavour, and the pastries were just incredible! Every dish looked and tasted amazing. Definitely one of my favourite finds in Riga!

Visited this place for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised with how delicious the honey cake was as well as coffee. The place is conveniently located near the Vermanes park where I went after for a short stroll to burn calories:) The only thing is that music could be a bit quieter as we had to raise our voice to hear each other

this place makes the tastiest napoleon cake i’ve ever had! i’m definitely coming back. edit: i came back. their caramel cinnamon roll is also really tasty—however personally i would not recommend the pistachio one.
Spencer B — Google review
This dessert place was really good! I really liked the Latvian honey cake and the "Old Riga" choux puff. They were light, fluffy, had great texture and well-balanced sweetness. The choux puff was also filled with a light lemony cheescake-like filling which was soo good. Chocolate desserts were also delicious - we tried the dark chocolate and raspberry.

Restaurant
Kolonade is a renowned restaurant in Riga, Latvia, offering a blend of traditional and modern cuisine. Housed in a historic building near iconic landmarks like the Freedom Monument and Opera House, it aims to showcase Latvia's culinary heritage through its dishes. The restaurant's talented kitchen team skillfully transforms fresh local produce into visually appealing meals. While some dishes may occasionally fall short, overall the dining experience is quite successful.
Very nice restaurant in the centre of Riga. Offers beautiful and uniquely crafted dishes. Foods were surprising in their appearance, tasted like nothing else I tried before. Wine selection was decent, but I went with a simpler option, it was very nice. Enjoyed every meal I had there (goat cheese, fried octopus, tuna steak, fig cake). Lovely staff, when you enter they take your coats and hang them. When you leave, they help you put on the coat - I found it very nice! The waiters explain everything and are friendly, if you need suggestion on wines - they have an on-site wine expert to assist you. I was very pleased with my time there, would 100% recommend. P.S. fig cheesecake is TO DIE FOR 😍

This restaurant is located perfectly between the old town (historical) and the new part of town. The entire place has a great feel. Even when you are inside it feels like you are sitting outside due to massive windows. The place is decorated beautifully. My server was this young Latvian man who was very polite and informative with a great sense of humor. The food was simply delicious. Well cooked meal and fresh salad with a great glass of wine. I highly recommend Kolonade if you happen to be in Riga!

Mixed Experience During a Special Birthday Dinner I visited Kolonāde during Restaurant Week in Riga for a special birthday dinner, which I had informed the restaurant about in advance. I even mentioned that I wouldn’t mind any additional cost for making it a special occasion. Upon arrival, we received a warm and pleasant welcome, setting high expectations for the evening. After selecting our dishes, we ordered drinks — I chose a wine pairing for each course, while my companion ordered a few drinks, of which only one was served. The complimentary amuse-bouche was tasty, and the duck terrine was superb — beautifully executed and full of flavor. Unfortunately, the cabbage rolls with Greenland prawns were a real disappointment. The prawns were tough and overcooked, which was surprising and disheartening given the restaurant’s fine-dining reputation. When dessert arrived, I expected a small gesture such as a candle or sparkler to mark the birthday — especially since I had mentioned the occasion ahead of time — but there was nothing special added. Finally, when paying, I politely asked to round up the amount to include the tip, but that request was overlooked, which left a slightly awkward impression at the end of the evening. Overall, if the missing drink had been served, the prawns cooked properly, and a small birthday touch acknowledged, this would have easily been a 5-star experience. The atmosphere and parts of the meal were excellent, but the missed details made the evening fall short of expectations.

Splendid dinner at Kolonade! Joined colleagues from around the world for a nice dinner in Riga, Latvia. This restaurant is ideal with its beautiful views of the park and optional open windows. Fantastic (and awarded) wine list. We enjoyed a couple bottles of beautiful premier cru Chardonnay. The food was wonderful as well, including the smoked rosemary and chili shrimp, seared tuna, and chocolate tart. Excellent atmosphere and friendly service to boot. Highly recommend!

Restaurant
Pagalms, also known as The Yard, is a serene and laid-back terrace located near the Latvian National Theatre in Riga. It offers a relaxed atmosphere with views of the Rigas canal and lush greenery. Situated between Kronvalda and Bestejkalna parks, it provides an ideal spot to enjoy brunch while watching tennis players and tourists on boats. This location allows visitors to avoid large crowds while experiencing traditional Riga.
Came for the business lunch (€7.50 - had to ask for it, wasn’t on the menu but is listed on Facebook each day) and got three courses of excellent food and a smoothie. Food was lovely, vibe was relaxed and modern. The quality and presentation for the price is perhaps the best I’ve ever had. Good selection of drinks too, the cider was lovely.

what an amazing place. we went for breakfast and had a super pleasant experience. from the overall ambience, the dark wood terrace to the food. we had the potato waffle and the scrambled egg dishes and couldn't be happier about it - delicious, tasteful plating and the price is balanced. also good to go for coffee, matcha or kombucha. 10/10 would come back!

Lovely place for families or not. Good choice of dishes. Not boring , something different from standard menus. Staff is quick and attending. We tried breakfast for two with fish and we love it. Good size portion. Cakes are fresh and yummy also. They also have some toys for kids which is nice to keep them busy
