The service staff were impeccable and I really appreciate that. Water and wine were topped up in a timely fashion. Service was efficient tho not rushed. Some wld still chat and ensure that all’s good. We paused midway during the meal, and the staff asked if needed food top-ups twice! I asked for salad without dressing. Thewait staff who took my order realised the wrong order was served as she glanced at the table. She changed it immediately even before I could ask. The service level really speaks of care, pride and great training. Kudos to the team and mgmt. Steak was on par to usual standards - nothing abt the free flow menu or busy state of affairs compromised anything. I am impressed. Steak is still good, charred well. However the sides, like the steak fries is bland, no hint of rosemary, even though it’s on the menu. This place is always so crowded for dinner. Their steak is nicely done to individual’s preference - medium rare & medium. My dining partners loved the Mac & cheese. The food came pretty fast. The service was also pretty good. The staffs were attentive. We ordered grilled octopus as a starter, followed by 3 steaks; ribeye, rump cap and a Denver cooked medium and truffle and nori butter on the side. We also had 2 sides of truffle fries and fried Brussel sprouts. The grilled octopus was grilled to perfection and the flavor paired really well with the octopus. But nonetheless, still well cooked. The Brussel sprouts was super yummy. Love the crispiness, slightly sweet and yet not oily. The place is super casual. Not pretentious. Just good food and wine. The average: Yuzu Sorbet was too sweet for our liking, champagne jelly was meh until we topped up our own champagne in it, and that transformed the dish to a wow! Sauces that came with mains were what you expect from a place like this but no wow factor. The disappointment: Mains were terrible. We were still having our appetisers when we spotted our mains on the service station. At that point we were not ready for main course at all but a waitress came over to ask if they could serve the mains. Fine, so we thought, let's just have mains almost concurrently with what's left of our appetisers. This led to an awkward moment where one of us had new plates and cutleries changed while I was still having my appetiser, and then a spare plate here and there for mains sharing because I was not done with my food. A break in between to enjoy our moment and sip on our drinks would be lovely, especially since there was no need to turn the table around for a second seating. Mains were borderline room temp when even when we tried it right away. Potato was served in a small pot but pot was not heated to keep the potsto warm. Wouldnt have been better even if they were served the meat warmer, but that was not the biggest issue. Only 4 choices offered steak and 2 options were not available on a quiet Monday evening. Silverskin left on the skirt steak, barely cooked fat cap on the lamb chops. I presumed the grilled meat would be the star of the show but they were the two biggest duds for the evening. Buttery potato puree was fragrant and buttery, but unexpectedly grainy. Not a fan. Only 2 good things I can say about the meat - Nice char on the skirt steak and nicely medium on the meat part of the lamb. To top it off, there was a lone fruit fly or two that lingered on my glass, probably attracted by the smell of fermented grapes. Minor annoyance which disappeared after a while, but juat adds on to the list of things that could have been better. Finally, this brings us full circle to even before the meal started. Made a reservation via email 3 days in advance, but somewhere in that chain, the reservation was not noted. No worries I thought, since the restaurant looked mostly empty. But it was definitely a weird few minutes that seemed to focus more on why I might not have a reservation than to actually get us a table. Even after showing the female hostess the email chain, she seemed to imply we did not reply to confirm the reservation instead of just apologising for the lapse and moving on. It would have been a non matter if we just moved on politely, but those few moments lingered even after we were seated to wonder what else the service would be like. Isn't that the whole point of asking if we have a reservation in case there were special notes about any special occasions or dietary preferences? The adhoc recovery at the reception could have been better managed since the restaurant only had 7 tables occupied for the whole night anyway. My wife and I loved those two as well, not just for the incredible flavour and sheer quality of the meat, but because it is so satisfying eating meat from the bone – it feels almost primal, if you know what I mean. The Wellington is the more bougee experience. You have to be delicate with it, because you don’t want to wreck each beautiful slice when you cut it through it, but yet you must in order to devour it. The flavours are layered and complex, which either adds to the lovely taste of the lamb, or distracts you from it – which you find to be true will be down to your personal preference. Lastly, it seems unfair that I’m only mentioning the soup now. It was a simple pumpkin and carrot soup, but oh-my, was it tasty. Definitely worth ordering to arouse your taste buds while waiting for your mains to cook. Place is relatively small and cozy, with the seating divided into a lower and upper floor area. We were seated upstairs as our reservation was for a bigger group, the lower area seemed to be packed as we were leaving so its probably best to make a reservation ahead of time if you're intending to come during peak dinner hours. We ordered a selection of sides which included the Fried Calamari and Chilli Cheese Fries. Both were decent, although the fries felt like regular fries that you can find at NTUC. Despite the relatively weak start, the pork ribs were a complete 180. They were quite literally "fall off the bone" tender and were simply delicious. I personally found the honey mustard flavour to be a tad too sweet to my liking and honestly preferred the Signature Original and Hickory flavours more. Nevertheless, if you're looking for a plate of excellent ribs, I can wholeheartedly recommend them. Wanting to end off the meal with a dessert, we ordered a variety which included the Bro Bruce Browned Butter Brownie and the Belgian Waffles. Quality of the steak is well worth the price paid. Taste to your preference with just salt and pepper. The complements are nothing to shout about. The service was exceptional for a bistro, the attentiveness and friendliness of the waiting staff surpasses what you’d generally expect. The tables were a bit small, and we ordered quite a bit, but they managed by accommodating smaller plates without us asking. The ambience though, could use a bit of work. It feels a little dated and no frills. Location is also slightly out-of-the-way unless you drive or live close by. But if you’re here just for the steak, it’s value for money. Awesome, sincere service by Jason. Our first visit started out as an adventure to find the unit. You can access it only from the outside of the mall, across the road from Maybank (CPF building next to the MRT). Prices stated below are in SGD before GST and service charge. Our meal of two steaks and one side came up to $77.34. I had the flat iron ($25), enthusiastically recommended by Jason, the young man who served us. My companion had the NZ ribeye ($26).
