I recently went for a Sunday Dinner to celebrate an anniversary and this is easily in the top restaurants I've been to. The staff are exceptionally personable, helpful and so nice, the views are obviously amazing and it's a treat to have a location like this overseeing a lake yet be inner city. The food was absolutely amazing and the staff was knowledgeable to help recommend the best meat cooked level and provide great drink and menu choices. We started with Crab and Potatoe Croquettes that were actually amazing and had very little crab smell and the texture with plating a treat for sure! After the appetizer our main dishes were plated with care and tasted amazing. The bison was delicious with the vegetable side and the stuffed pastry was actually an 11/10 and blew us away. The Ribeye was classic and cooked to perfection with the Potatoes and Broccoli and it definitely was a steakhouse quality dish. The desert being the lime creme brule was good and I would rate it visually a 10 but for taste it sat around an 8. It was not bad at all but having a meal where every item hits a solid 10 really holds a high bar that is both exciting and yummy to see. I give this place a 10/10 and highly recomme d everyone visit to enjoy a romantic dinner.

The restaurant was courteous and prompt with their staff being very attentive and kind. Leading into wonderful food with a gorgeous view both in and around the wonderfully maintained historically significant building to the area. We chose to be seated inside and the decor and atmosphere was both calm and quiet. Now the food itself was also spectacular with rich flavours without any overbearing saltiness or any greasiness at all. The whole experience was great and the course was actually quite filling on top of it all! This goes for all 4-5 dishes between my wife and I. Took a nice walk to digest the food and enjoy the scenery with a quick trip through the native gardens leading to Annie’s cafe which in itself was a great lead up to a pleasant walk. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to start their morning off in Fish creek with pleasant food and mood. Will be a staple for any future visits to Calgary

I ordered the mocha latte with almond milk and it was perfect. Then I ordered a French toast, smoked salmon and creme Brule. They are all superb! Which is fine but I could barely hear my aunt from across the table. We went for afternoon tea, cost about $130 not including gst and tip. The tea was good, the scones were warm and very tasty. The clotted cream was good and the peach jam was phenomenal. The tray consisted of a lot of different foods. My favourites were the sandwich, curry pie, raspberry tart, and ginger and rhubarb tart. The food was either very bland or extremely salty? Especially the salt! My aunt hardly touched most of the food and I tried to but I was drinking tons of water after each bite. You think they'd try their food before serving it. Very disappointing at the price you pay. I mean everything was salty even the cheesecake. And had the most magnificent time. Upon entering the cosy yet beautifully kept historical building and opting to be seated in the back garden our waiter and servers were attentive, informative, kind and friendly. Our course meals were perfectly balanced, rich and flavourful meals with such a guided experience especially alongside the fantastic wine pairings. Wine pairings I might add that were so perfectly matched with the meal and independently good that my wife and I requested the names of each of them. Unsure of whether or not the dishes change as we were only here on vacation, I have one tremendous highlight that is apparently a new addition to the restaurant. The seabass. The seabass after being teased with wonderful entree was so delicious that we regret having not had the time to come back another day for more. It was delicate, rich and somehow full of flavour all at once. I cannot speak highly enough about how well the fish was prepared and as a lover of fish based dishes I was more than pleasantly surprised. The course itself was also very well priced for the quality only really shooting up in price with our deliberate decision to add wine pairings and an order of oysters which I will quickly add were so good my wife enjoyed them. We were served by Liam and were surprised by a birthday card signed by the entire crew on arrival. The lunch menu was still available so I went for the 6oz NY strip. I have to say I was kind of disheartened by it. But didn't realize it would be on a thick bed of aoli. I personally dont like a ton of sauces. As i enjoy calamari. So it was a bit much for me. We went for brunch. First time there. Food and drinks were delicious except for the fish cake! Very happy. Location is amazing. Would have given 5 stars. A bit disappointed however with the bathroom situation. Only 3 restroom stalls - one men's and 2 women's. One of the women's stalls was out of service and so the door was just locked and no one to fix it. Created lines waiting for the restroom. The odor coming from them created a not-so welcoming addition to the entrance to the venue but I'm sure it will all be rectified after the long weekend. Rick was difficult to get into contact with and book appointments with, the day before the wedding the event was handed over to Asise but I wasn’t given I way to contact him which became an issue when I needed to tell them where the decor that needed to be set up outside the morning of needed to go, I messaged Rick with no response (vry stressful). Rick told us that the misquotes and heat wouldn’t be an issue but during the wedding multiple people got sick from the heat as it was easily 37°+ in the venue and our wedding actually shut down 2hrs early because of the misquotes. We requested the Hors’Dourves to be vegetarian but they wherent, The bathrooms where gross and stunk and where basically an outhouse (we didn’t get to see them before the day of). Weeks before hand, I told Rick the timeline and told him when dessert needed to be brought out but obvi this info wasn’t passed on because Asise asked me during the reception when the dessert needed to be brought out and then it still wasn’t brought out on time also we paid for the extra dessert table and it was not decorated to match our event like we were told it would be. Also we were told allergy signs would be put with each dessert but there wherent any signs which was an issue as my MOH is celiac, I’m gluten and dairy free and we have family who also have allergies. We were told that we could do signature drinks and were not informed until at the reception that they couldn’t get the ingredients in. I could keep going but wont, overall do not recommend this venue.

Went for the chefs menu for a special night out and it was awesome. My bf isn't big on the foodie stuff so he wasn't into the uniqueness quite as much as I was but one dish he just didn't want to eat - I told them he wasn't fond of smoked salmon, and he was so embarrassed - i tried to ensure him that it's ok to say you don't like something (nobody likes to complain, but when you're paying this much you want to enjoy it!), and so they whipped up something else within 10 minutes and after that he perked up completely for the rest of the meal. The photographer was great and had a good eye for creating a story. We paused the session a couple of times to watch the butterflies, appreciate some beautiful flowers in bloom and sit when we climbed up hill to get a particular (and well worth it) view. It was a fantastic family fun day with so much to see and do. The highlight for us was definitely the kids' area. The face painting, button making, petting zoo, and bounce house were a real treat for my toddler, and she absolutely loved it. Also I believe you can see when the feed times are online for each animal as well. They have a great animal selection here, and I feel like they treat the animals very well here. I have been to zoos all over the world and this is by far one of the best in the way of animal treatment and habitat sizes. The zoo is licensed as well so if it's a hot day you can buy a beer and walk around with it, also I recommend ordering your tickets online and skipping the line to buy tickets especially on the weekend.

The variety of animals is impressive and you could easily spend all day here. There's especially lots of things to occupy a family with children. The African section was especially impressive as you can get pretty close to some large animals that we aren't used to seeing in Canada. Didn't catch any sights of a few notable beasts like the polar bear and a few others but overall there is a wonderful selection and most of the animals were fairly active. Would likey visit this place regularly if I lived in Calgary. Apparently it can sometimes be slightly cheaper to reserve your tickets online in advance. When I first walked through the venue I immediately knew it was the venue for us. It is so beautiful and unique in the details & incredibly well thought out spaces. Just wanted to say that everything from start to finish was first class. We asked Jimmy (Manager/Event Co-ordinator) to do “family style” meal – this is where all the food is served on each table. As we wanted an Indian catering menu, mixed with some Arab style food, this was not an easy request – especially with 350 guests! We had a few meetings with Jimmy before the event and he took care of everything from the timing, catering and to coordinating with the decorators. Our decorators had great cooperation from Jimmy and his team, and when we arrived at the hall before the wedding started, everything looked amazing. We also liaised with the DJ – who was great to work with and was very experienced. The food turned out even better than it was at the food tasting. So many of our guests complimented us on how great the food was, and how much they loved the hot appetizer station during the cocktail hour (see photos.) The kitchen timed everything exactly to our agenda and as soon as the speeches were complete, the food was being served on the tables. This was the first time that Jimmy had done “family style” service and it was truly amazing and beyond our expectations. The food arrived hot at each table and it looked like there was 1 server for every 2 tables. The food arrived promptly, and our guests were very impressed with this service. (It sure beats lining up at a buffet station, especially for 350 people.) All of our guests were impressed, and we were extremely happy that we used the Magnolia Hall for our daughters wedding. The staff were kind and courteous. We got to drive down to the driving range in their powercart which is a nice touch to the experience. The staff are very professional and engaged and able to answer any questions you have. We got 6 dishes between 3 of us which was a good amount. We started with the beat salad, which was a favorite of ours, the whipped feta with it and the nuts were all a great texture and flavor combination together.
