We lucked out on the night we went, the service was excellent. We started with their lettuce wraps and let me tell you that they’re wayyyyyyy better than PF Changs. It’s really the flavor in their sauces that sets them apart from other Chinese restaurants. I give the lettuce wraps a 10/10. The fried dumplings were another great appetizer. They were filled and juicy and fried to perfection. They even come with this great tangy sweet sauce. The dumplings I have to give a 10/10 as well. The sesame chicken was good but it wasn’t great. I don’t know . Like it tastes ok but I wouldn’t say it’s the best in San Antonio. I give the sesame chicken a 7/10. I think the sesame chicken is missing the crunch from the fried chicken. Food was flavor and delicious, the pork pulled apart with a fork, the beef was soft and tender , the soup dumplings were perfect… the only thing that wasn’t as good as I was hoping were the hand folded dumplings. To us it seemed they were missing some flavor. Still decent but not as flavorful as the other items. Could use some more decorations for the restaurants but again I care more about the food than how the place looks. They also ran out of green beans which everyone recommended… we will definitely be back to try other items !

Food wasn't bad but I can't say I enjoyed it either. I went with my go-to Generals Tso chicken and it was different from what I'm used to. I like a more spicy Generals chicken theirs is almost sweet. The portion was extremely large and it could've easily been a shareable plate. The rice was good just a tad dry. I'd much rather pay the same price for a much higher quality dish. I can't complain, it was good enough. I did try a bit of their orange chicken which i did enjoy. Our server was Katie, she was sweet and very attentive. My drink never went empty and I always had exactly what I needed. The place was pretty busy given the time of day. The restaurant was pretty nice and felt authentic. I liked their little fountain pond at the entrance. The music was also suiting which added to the experience. I hear so much about this place and perhaps I just didn't order one of their best dishes. By far the worst restaurant I've eaten at, not just the worst Chinese restaurant, the ABSOLUTE WORST restaurant. I made the mistake not looking at the photos first as I would of had an inkling about the focus on quantity over quality. Majority of the food was bland and cold. Our family ordered the lunch specials and here are the summaries for each order: 1. Lemon Chicken- extremely large portion, sauce lacks depth, and rice is a weird texture and not like any fried rice I have ever seen. It is more like days old boiled rice that wasn't quite fried. The sauce is some type of red sauce. I could not eat the rice. 2. Sweet and Sour Pork- again, extremely large portion, sauce had no flavor and had too much gelatin or cornstarch. It was as if they microwaved it beyond the acceptable temperature and then cooled down into a goop. The meat tasted old. The food was served cold with the rice and was all inedible. 3. Mongolian Beef- served cold and flavorless with the rice. 4. Mongolian Chicken- served semi-warm and flavorless. Served with the rice. Other food we ordered and here are the summaries for each: 5. Crab Rangoons- a misnomer as there was zero crab or even crab flavor in these. Just a dollop of flavorless cream cheese. 6. BBQ Pork Ribs- extremely chewy. It took over 30 minutes to eat one. Iced Tea- served unsweetened and not much of a flavor. Service The server was pushy and wanted my husband to share his soup. He did not want to and she still brought 4 bowls despite asking for 2. Also, the servers are zigzagging everywhere with their carts. The food carts used to serve the food are dirty and have not been cleaned in a long time. We love Asian Star Super Buffet because it’s affordable, casual, and the food selection is pretty good. I've been in the service industry for years so I am usually very understanding. But to wait twenty minutes for an order I placed forty-five minutes ago and to be treated so indifferently by staff... unacceptable.

I had the Mongolian combo and my husband had Sesame beef. Now mind you it's over 100° out side and we don't live very far and his rice was cold. My portion was very small and since I have had the Mongolian Combo before I know how much is in the container. Mongolian combo is like Triple Delight only with a more beef tasting sauce. Today, there was only 2 shrimp and not much of the beef or pork either. It didn't taste too good either and our total was about $60.00. They said it was the best Chinese food they have had since they moved to Texas from the East Coast. I decided to give it a try, we ordered a few items including the Crispy Beef twice now. The Crispy Beef is very good, has excellent flavor. Prices are a bit on the high side, but portions are large. I usually have leftovers regardless of whether I dine in or take food to go. I'll continue to try items on the menu here, as so far the ones I have tried have been pretty good. If your a fan of Chinese and Asian food, you should give this place a try.

Walking in the door, it smelled so good, it was making me hungry while I was looking at their menu board. I had the honey-seared chicken with fried rice and a pork egg roll. Brought it home with orange chicken and fried rice for my son. The chicken was tender, absolutely no overcooked and hard pieces.. The honey was just the right amount without it overwhelming the entire dish. The chicken, along with the fried rice was perfectly seasoned. Even though the take out container looked small, it had enough food to fill me up and have leftovers for lunch the next day. The restaurant itself was clean with the fountain drink area tidy and fully stocked. I like that there are to-go containers so we don't have to ask for them at the register. Also, having extra fortune cookies at the fountain drink area is a nice bonus as I love fortune cookies. Over all, Pei Wei is my favourite place to go for Asian food.
