Sydney

Sydney, capital of New South Wales and one of Australia's largest cities, is best known for its harbourfront Sydney Opera House, with a distinctive sail-like design. Massive Darling Harbour and the smaller Circular Quay port are hubs of waterside life, with the arched Harbour Bridge and esteemed Royal Botanic Garden nearby. Sydney Tower’s outdoor platform, the Skywalk, offers 360-degree views of the city and suburbs.

Performing arts theater
Sights & Landmarks
The Sydney Opera House is an iconic arts center located on Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour, offering breathtaking views of the harbor, bridge, and city skyline. With over 1,600 performances annually, it hosts a diverse range of events including opera, theatre, music, dance, and comedy shows. This architectural marvel is a must-see attraction that draws millions of visitors each year. Its unique design and cultural significance make it a standout feature of the picturesque Sydney Harbour.
Booked the tour and dining experience for $81 weeks in advance. Tour started and ended on time with a group of around 20. Headsets were provided so that everyone can hear the live tour guide. They will ask you to check in any medium or large sizes bags or backpacks, but it's easy and free. Tour involved some easy, short walks and steps, but anyone can manage. Very informative and worth doing. The dining add on gives you 3 restaurant options to choose from, all very close by. There's a special, limited menu just for this deal. I chose Midden which had no wait for lunch time and went with the barramundi dish and pinot grigio. The fish was excellent, perfectly cooked and thoughtfully flavored. Asked for no added salt and they were able to accommodate. Wine was good as well and recommended by the server. Overall, a great tour and dining experience that's reasonably priced

The structure is amazing… just like the pictures you see in Internet. Easy to move around. Handicap friendly. Many spots for snacks and even for lunch or dinner. Inside is big enough to run several events at the same time. We saw The Shiralee… excellent play presentation. Buster really run the show. The terrace around the Opera offers great spots for pictures and opportunities to crash on weddings… many diverse weddings. If you have time, you can visit the Botanical Garden nearby. You can’t miss it, if you are in Sydney!

Of course, the iconic tourist attraction! We usually only take pictures from the outside whenever visiting the Sydney Opera House (SOH). But Alhamdulillah this year we had the chance to watch the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO) performance. The architecture is really unique. The view from inside SOP to the Harbour Bridge and the surrounding areas is breathtaking! Each performance lasted around 1.5 hours. The multimedia facility as additional modern setting adds to the amazing theatrical experience. I did not expect to watch the ACO with documentary screening as background. There are bar and café on the main concern hall that serves drinks and light snacks. You can enter from the main entrance located under the primary stairs structure, or you can enter via a door with security check-in table to right after the tourist ticketing area. There are many concerts and arts performances for all ages, not just classical opera or orchestra as I used to think. Well, a famous landmark does not need recommendation. It speaks for itself.

Sydney Opera House really leans into that whole “world-famous icon” thing, but once you stand in front of it you cannot unsee the truth. It looks exactly like a giant rack to dry dishes. A premium, waterfront, government-funded dish rack. Someone clearly put the budget on the wrong Pinterest board. It still looks good, no denying that. The patterns on the tiles are gorgeous, the shape is wild, the whole structure owns the harbor like it pays rent for the sun. But the moment the dish-rack comparison hits your brain, it is over. Those shiny white shells become plates waiting to drip dry. And the big question: was it worth the time and money? Honestly, maybe. It is one of those bucket list things you check off because it is famous, not because it changes your life. You go there, you stare at it, you laugh at how much it looks like kitchen equipment, you take the photos, and you move on. Iconic, yes. Beautiful, sure. Worth the hype? Debatable. But unforgettable as the world’s fanciest dish rack.

Stopped by for a quick look around. Sydney is a beautiful city and this part of town is both historic and swanky. Lots of people about enjoying their evening and overall a very good atmosphere. The whole area surrounding the opera house is lovely to explore.
Sumiitra S — Google review
If you are a lover of Broadway, opera or just to see an iconic building, than this is a must see. Take a guided walking tour starting from the basement on up through the inner workings of the back end. Very interesting and informative. Wear comfortable shoes, it’s a lot of walking. If you are going for a great breakfast, don’t count on it. It’s just meh. Breakfast is at the end of the tour in what they call back in the states their commissary but they call it their green room.

Architecture that captivates your heart! I didn't get a chance to go inside, but honestly, the outside view is stunning enough on its own, it has its power to grab everyone's attention. Top Tip: If you want the best possible view, take a ferry from Circular Quay after sunset. Seeing the Opera House from the water at night is an unmissable experience.
Kishan N — Google review
To call the Sydney Opera House an extraordinary global landmark is not an overstatement. Its design is a study in elegant simplicity, and it inspires a powerful sense of awe whether you are standing right beside it or seeing it from across the harbor. I find myself at a loss for words to fully express my admiration for this magnificent structure. The architecture's silhouette forms a breathtaking curve where the structure meets the sky. This fabulous view is captivating at any hour, whether in the bright light of day or the dark of night.

Nature & Parks
Bondi Beach is a renowned Australian beach located just seven kilometers from Sydney's CBD in the Eastern Suburbs. It boasts a wide sandy shoreline, waterfront dining options, and a skate park. The crescent-shaped beach is adorned with golden white sand and surrounded by lush green headlands, creating a picturesque setting. Bondi Beach attracts visitors year-round and gained international fame through the popular TV show 'Bondi Rescue.'
A beautiful beach. The water is really blue and the sand is fine, so you can happily stand for a while and enjoy the shore. I really loved this place. It's a must visit. Bondi fests are held in July at this place. There are many cafes and eat stores nearby. There are open stalls where you can purchase anklets, bands, etc as a memory. It has a garden area, and beach together, where kids can enjoy a lot. There are showers, taps, to clean up from the sand. It's a very good facility for all. It's a pet friendly place. There are also benches installed so elders can also have seating arrangements.

Amazing vibe to Bondi Beach ⛱️ It looks like it gets cleaned up daily. 🗑 A lot of 'Health and Fitness' activities.🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️ A great place to visit get your motivation back if you've lost it 😅 Will definitely be back 🤩

The Undisputed King: Iconic Bondi Beach "Bondi Beach is more than just Sydney's most popular tourist beach—it's the heartbeat of Australian beach culture, all conveniently located just a stone's throw from the city! The golden, sweeping sand and the electric-blue waves are absolutely postcard-perfect. It's the one beach in Sydney where you can instantly feel the energy: the surfers carving up the waves, the famous yellow and red of the 'Bondi Rescue' lifeguards on patrol, and the buzzing crowd that makes you feel like you're right where the action is. What makes it truly special is the incredible atmosphere. It’s the perfect blend of serious surf action, relaxed sunbathing, and world-class people-watching. You can grab a coffee from a trendy cafe right on the promenade, dive into the historic Icebergs pool , or just sit on the sand and soak up the unique, laid-back-but-lively vibe. Since it's so close to the CBD (easily reached by a short bus trip), it’s the ultimate, accessible escape. If you're visiting Sydney and only have time for one beach, make it Bondi. It’s iconic for a reason—it’s an essential, exhilarating taste of the Australian coastal lifestyle. A guaranteed 5-star experience!" #hikingdiarybyabid

Finally made it to Bondi beach! Beautiful blue sea. Got to see the iconic pool. Lovely views. Want to go back for sunset. Lots of cafes, bars and restaurants.

It's a fun beach. Waves are a decent size although the current does seem to gain in strength randomly. There's so much to do around the beach though in terms of exploring, with walking paths on both sides. It's also very easy to get to with the 333 bus.

One of our favorite beaches to visit when in Sydney. Great for swimming, surfing, sunbathing, and hiking on the trails around it. Good food spots and fun atmosphere
Derrin H — Google review
Absolutely Beautiful Beach! I believe it does need a bit of TLC or upgrades in the area. Lifeguards are lovely and enjoy the atmosphere ♥️ In very much love with the place. Please continue to look after this beautiful location.
Penny R — Google review
Got to be done right? It’s iconic for its surf scene and the Icebergs swimming pool. Plenty of people on the beach and in the water. Was a little surprised that the T4 train didn’t take you closer than Bondi junction so whilst we had anticipated a fair walk I just wonder why the line was never extended. That said it was nice to just sit and people watch.

Nestled along the picturesque Sydney Harbour, Taronga Zoo is a must-visit destination for animal lovers and adventure seekers alike. Home to over 350 distinct species, this vibrant zoo offers an immersive experience that connects visitors with wildlife in a stunning natural setting. Accessible via a scenic ferry ride from the city center, it provides breathtaking views of iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
An absolutely wonderful place and what a view! So many animals to look at and they all seem very healthy and well looked after. There's loads of viewing areas for each enclosure and space for everyone. We visited on a busy school holiday day and there was enough room for all. I love the fact that there are lots of zoo workers around to help or answer questions. The ticket price is well worth it. Well done Taronga Zoo.
Debs M — Google review
I visited Taronga Zoo today with my big family, and it was my second time there. This is definitely one of the must-do experiences in Sydney. The vibes were amazing! We went around midday, which isn’t really the ideal time to visit. If you want to see the animals more active and relaxed, it’s better to go either in the morning or later in the afternoon. That way, you’ll have a better chance of spotting most of them — including the lions. We did manage to see the lion, but only for a short while. The seal show was absolutely amazing — you can’t afford to miss it! The energy, tricks, and connection between the trainers and seals were so fun to watch. My kids absolutely loved it — from the animals to the shows, they were excited the whole time. It’s such a great place for families to spend the day together. It was so much fun overall — from boarding the ferry to the very last moment. I missed taking the cable car on the way back, which I really recommend because it offers stunning views of Sydney Harbour and the Opera House. Such a great experience — can’t wait to go again!
Saurav P — Google review
Beautiful zoo, very well maintained and thoughtfully designed, with plenty of walking areas and shaded promenades. The full visit, including the shows, takes around 4 to 5 hours. My advice: arrive early in the morning when the animals (especially the koalas) are most active. The views are absolutely stunning — overlooking the entire Sydney skyline, the Opera House, and Harbour Bridge. Staff are super friendly and helpful. A must-do for anyone visiting Sydney or looking for a great day escape!
Arnaud B — Google review
Fantastic zoo, really well built and easy to navigate. The enclosures are all really well done and the animals look very happy and healthy. The food market was great and plenty of water stations around. I was surprised that the zoo didn't have any elephants but the seals did make up for it. We were lucky to catch the seal show which was brilliant. All in all a great day out.
Dexter M — Google review
Beautiful. Fun to get to via the ferries and direct bus service are convenient. Staff at the hut where Zoo members/friends go for free entry could be nicer, staff inside are wonderful, had a young lad help us to seats at a packed bird show. Cute restuarant (wish we had lunch there), the food court, where we had lunch unfortunetly, had overflowing bins and zero trays to carry your food. The Zoo itself is very hilly and takes a good full day to see and experience everything.
Kathryn D — Google review
Excellent zoo with great selection of animals and easily accessible. Would go again for everything from very healthy lions, the koalas, excellent aviaries, and to watch the seals (sea lions actually). The free flight bird display brought a tear to my eye; it was so very well done and against the backdrop of the city with some great music choices. Chimpanzees looked listless; I'm not an expert but they seemed unhappy and in need of more to do or a better space.

We’ve come over from the UK to visit family & did the adults only Roar & Snore. What an amazing experience?! The lovely weather helped too. Bridie, Ryder, Rachel & Jacinta (sorry for any spelling mistakes) were our hosts & were all amazing to spend the evening & early morning with. Loved the walks through the zoo seeing all the animals, plus the little extras that I won’t mention (don’t want to spoil it). Loved the little safari tents for our night. The chimpanzees & lions enjoyed waking us up early 😊 Highly recommend anyone to do this, really good value too.
Sarah — Google review
Came here a while back and can I just say, this was one of the most fun times I've had 'til this day. Having my mates obviously helped but just having a walk through the different enclosures with the variety of animals I didn't even know existed, truly cemented that visit into my memories. And the quality of life, accessible toilets, great food and drinks that weren't too far, and easy to read signs and maps to know where you even are.

Observation deck
Sights & Landmarks
Formerly known as Centrepoint Tower, Sydney Tower Eye is a must-visit landmark in Sydney. It offers a 4-D cinema, an observation deck, and an outdoor viewing platform that provides stunning 360-degree views of the city. This iconic tower serves as a great starting point for first-time visitors to get their bearings in Sydney. The panoramic scenery from the top allows visitors to familiarize themselves with the city's layout and plan their transportation options accordingly.
This restaurant left a HUGE impression on me when I was a child. To find out the restaurant is still open and that it still revolves was so exciting. On a recent trip to Sydney over the school holidays, I shouted myself and my 11 year old child to dinner, and watching the smile on her face made my mind flood with many happy memories. I personally found the price to be a little on the expensive side, but I will not complain as the experience, the food and the views won hands down and made the price very worthy. I arranged a window seat and that was perfection. Our seating time was 1hour & 45 minutes and in that time the restaurant revolved 2 full times and some. As we were a table of two, the staff thought we must have left (while we were up getting our food) and cleared our drinks and table, but this was addressed and quickly fixed up. As it was early evening (6pm booking), we had the joy of seeing Sydney come to light. Advice would be, book ahead to grab a good table and go with an empty belly as there is so much great food to try. It was a spectacular experience that made many new happy memories. Enjoy!
Shaz B — Google review
Sydney Tower Eye was great! Good for tourists who want a great view of the city. $42 for one adult ticket so a bit pricey but I’d say worth it. We also did a photobooth while we were up there $10 for 3 slips with 4 photos which was quite good!
Olivia — Google review
On our recent trip to Sydney we did the buffet meal for lunch in the tower. The food was amazing, so many options from traditional roasts and seafood to salads and desserts. Too many choices and the rotating restaurant is fantastic 360 degree views. If I had more time would have loved to go again at night to see the lights but enjoyed at lunch to see the sites while enjoying a magnificent feast. A definite must do.
Lois K — Google review
Sydney Tower Eye is a must-see! The views from the top are absolutely breathtaking, and you can see the entire city, the harbour, and even the coastline. We did the sunset visit, and it was incredible — less crowded, peaceful, and the colors over Sydney were just beautiful. The whole experience was smooth and family-friendly. A perfect way to take in the beauty of Sydney!

Went for the VIP experience. Thanks to Kim and Mareil for the fantastic sky walk. The staff in the Infinity restraint were first class. Happy to explain the dishes and made us feel very welcome in a setting that was a bit alien to us. On to bar 83 where again, the staff were most accommodating and friendly. And, of course, the best views in Sydney.
Mingo286 — Google review
Its really nice lookout place. You can see so much from Sydney. Windows could be cleaned up better but I believe that its quite hard to maintain place with so many visitors. But there is still space to improve :) We bought tickets on arrival and they let us in a moment.
Radovan K — Google review
It's landmark of Sydney, but I don't think this place is "must visit spot" of Sydney. The place is great place to see landscapes, but I don't think staffs aren't putting enough effort to keep place clean. Also the place isn't that much big, but ticket price isn't that much reasonable, so I rather recommend observatory hills instead.

Stunning views, friendly staff. Min spend of 30$ each person at the bar but no admission fee. Not crowded when we went and felt it was well worth the money.

Bennelong is a renowned fine dining destination located within the iconic Sydney Opera House. Executive chef Peter Gilmore's innovative plates showcase Australian heritage and fresh ingredients as the heroes of each dish. The restaurant offers a spectacular view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge through its large glass windows, creating an unforgettable dining experience. The hushed dining room features Indigenous art, elegant lighting, and lantern-lit tables with leather chairs, providing a stellar setting for event dining.
11th October 2025. We celebrated our wedding anniversary here and what a lovely absolute treat! Loved every moment and mouthful and you must try it at least once. We had a 6.15pm booking but we arrived earlier than we anticipated and were seated upon arrival about 25mins early. There is a small bar you could sit if needed though. While seated, we were initially offered the smaller menu as our waitress thought that's what we booked, but after we explained we were early she returned to confirm we were there for the full menu. Between us we had the 3 course menu and 6 cocktails which valued @ $600-650, but again it was well worth it for the occasion and the experience. The food was delicious! The staff were fantastic! The ambience and views, stunning! We had pea/asparagus and pork belly entree. Brisket and beef with 2x sides as part of the meal for mains. Mango and pav for dessert. Complimentary warm sourdough served before entree. Nothing more I can add, except that you need to give it a go if you haven't already.

We wanted to share the fantastic experience we had recently at Bennelong restaurant, located in the iconic Sydney Opera House. From the moment we walked in, we were thoroughly impressed by the entire experience. The service was nothing short of excellent. The staff were attentive, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. They went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our dining experience was perfect. The food was outstanding, with each dish meticulously prepared and bursting with flavor. The quality and presentation were top-notch, making every bite a delight. The ambiance of Bennelong is truly something special. The stunning architecture of the Sydney Opera House, combined with the elegant and sophisticated interior, creates a unique and memorable dining atmosphere. The panoramic views of Sydney Harbour add an extra touch of magic to the experience. Overall, I highly recommend Bennelong restaurant for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience in Sydney. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying a night out, Bennelong is sure to impress.

Amazing experience from start to finish! The atmosphere is perfect with great views of the harbour. The food was incredible, full of flavour and beautifully plated. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the whole night feel effortless. Definitely one of the best dining experiences in Sydney.

I’d been looking forward to dining here for ages, and let me tell you… it surpassed every expectation the moment I walked in. The service? Spot on… twice over. And honestly, just looking around and realising you’re actually seated inside the Opera House? AMAZING. We went all out… extras, cocktails, the whole experience. I ordered this gorgeous pink cocktail… I can’t remember the exact name, something with a cloud but it arrived like a little piece of art. Sweet, yes, but absolutely delicious. Truly, there wasn’t a single fault. Not one. The only microscopic thing I could even mention is that I would’ve added a touch more salt to the butter for the bread… and that’s me really searching. Everything was warm, thoughtful, perfectly executed. Divine, down to the last detail. Because we had a later booking, we ended up being some of the last guests there… and the staff surprised us with a VIP tour of the private fenced off deck they use for New Year’s. They even played photographer, taking a whole collection of photos of us in different corners of the restaurant. It was the perfect ending to a flawless evening. 10/10.

This was a truly exquisite fine dining experience and memorable 50th birthday. The spanner crab dumpling, the pork, the Murray cod… all sumptuous. The staff provided friendly yet world-class service. And the setting an views were brilliant.
Cawley H — Google review
We loved the location, but the inside was extremely noisy. The food was tasty but not great. The chocolate grain dessert was too rich I could only eat a single bite and the pavlova was extremely sweet, as was the passionfruit sauce. The potato side was dry, and the fioretti was undercooked. I do, however, recommend the beef fillet with the black pearl mushrooms and truffle mushroom purée.
FREDDY C — Google review
Our dining experience at Bennelong was absolutely exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the staff were attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. A special mention must go to Moet, who went above and beyond to make our visit truly unforgettable — her warmth and care made the experience even more memorable. The food was outstanding — every course was beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. Without a doubt, this is one of the best restaurants we have ever dined at. And of course, the view speaks for itself. Dining within the iconic Sydney Opera House, overlooking the harbour, was simply breathtaking. For my first visit, Bennelong exceeded every expectation. A well-deserved 10/10 experience. Thankyou

What a lovely spot for a Sunday afternoon drink and snack at the bar. The bar is a great perch for people watching across the restaurant and over towards Circular Quay and the Harbour Bridge for a great outlook of wonderful Sydney. Service was very personable, drinks top notch and the snacks were delicious. We couldn't decide if the prawn toast (full of chopped prawn) or the wagyu bresaola panisse was our favourite, so had to reorder. The panisse won out as it was such a different, tasty, light and elegant snack - yum!

Quay Restaurant, located in the heart of The Rocks with stunning views of Sydney Harbour, offers innovative tasting menus that have reinvigorated the dining experience in Australia. Executive chef Peter Gilmore's culinary creations are a testament to his adoration for nature and attention to detail. The six-course set menu showcases his expertise in crafting dishes that highlight marine life, umami depth, and elusive ingredients.
I celebrated my graduation dinner here with my family in May, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve ever had. Over the years, I’ve visited various fine dining restaurants for special occasions, and I have to say—Quay truly got everything right. From the impeccable service and outstanding food quality to the gorgeous night view, every detail was thoughtfully executed. Each dish was beautifully presented, and the layers of flavour were simply remarkable. My entire family thoroughly enjoyed this unforgettable experience. Thank you.

Best experience! It was amazing to experience such a unique taste! Each dish was worth 5 star!⭐️ Compliment to the Chef, chefs did such an amazing job! The flowers added so much flavour and texture~✨ Service was very good too! Front staff know their job very well… When it comes to price, no complains the experience, location, food, service! Its worth to paying couple of $$$! ✨

It was a journey of umami, complex flavors mostly not overly salted, some japanese touches with a good balance of flavors and textures. There was attention to color with an interesting minimalist theme in plating the dishes. Pictured duck dish and the little appetizer bites were stand outs. Service was attentive and friendly. Venue was nice, but entry was hard to find (take the lift beside James Squire) and unfortunately there was a giant cruise ship obscuring what would’ve been an outstanding view.

Excellent food with high-quality ingredients, attentive service, and stunning views. The only downsides were the dining room being uncomfortably cold despite requests to adjust the AC, and the menu ending with several sweet courses, which felt slightly unbalanced. Overall, a memorable and impressive experience! 🤍

Dining at Quay was a sublime experience. Nestled in Sydney’s harbor with panoramic views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, the setting alone is unforgettable. The service was impeccable—attentive, warm, and effortlessly refined. Each dish on the tasting menu was a masterpiece of creativity and precision, showcasing ingredients in ways both surprising and deeply satisfying. Quay doesn’t just serve food—it delivers an artful journey that lingers long after the final bite.
Rafael S — Google review
Dining at Quay was an experience that went far beyond just a meal. It was a beautifully orchestrated journey of flavours, textures, and impeccable service. We had the five-course tasting menu ( 275$ pp) and every dish delivered elegance and innovation, starting with a delicately balanced mud crab dumpling and culminating in the visually striking White Coral dessert. But there were two standout moments that truly defined the evening for me: First, the Wild Greenlip abalone course, paired with sea cucumber, koshihikari rice, and a seaweed broth. was a masterclass in subtlety and depth. The abalone was tender yet meaty, with an oceanic sweetness that paired perfectly with the aged vinegar notes and creamy milk custard. It was the kind of dish that quietly lingers in your memory. Second, the Blackmore Wagyu! Cooked to absolute perfection! Was everything you'd want from a premium cut: rich, buttery, and meltingly tender. The earthy Maitake mushrooms elevated it even further. It was luxurious, yet never overpowering. Beyond the food, what truly set Quay apart was their exceptional service. The team was thoughtful, attentive without being intrusive, and incredibly well-versed in the menu. Their quiet confidence made the experience feel seamless and genuinely special. This was for my birthday celebration, and Quay delivered something far more memorable than just dinner, it delivered a valuable memory. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a refined, world-class dining experience in Sydney.

Came for dinner last night and had an absolutely fantastic time treating my mum for her birthday. Food was excellent, top to bottom, and got treated to a few complimentary extra canapes and courses, which were beyond fantastic. First snacks from the kitchen were beautifully creative and tasted delicious, and the food stayed at a superlative level through every course - particular favorite was the Abalone which was to die for, as was the David Blackmore Wagyu with a wonderful hint of truffle. Each dish was inventive, fun, and mostly light - great for a 7-course degustation, never feeling overly full. The ingredients, whilst meshed together, remained as flavorful and distinct as you'd hope they'd be, all shining and presented artistically. Service was excellent all around, with well-trained staff and great wine and food knowledge available from the sommelier and waiter we had. The sommelier made great recommendations for the wine and the cocktail we shared for the pre-dessert. One of the temperance drinks we also had was delicious. Two very happy customers here!

Restaurant
Firedoor Restaurant in Sydney offers a unique dining experience with its refined, seasonal cuisine cooked over wood coals in an open, heritage venue adorned with rustic-chic decor. The menu revolves around the twin woodfire ovens, producing exceptional dishes like the house sourdough made from wholewheat rye flour and a 12-year-old mother starter fermented with pear, apple, and rhubarb juice.
I honestly can’t explain how amazing this experience was. Having eaten a lot of wagyu over the years, I can truly say this was the best I’ve ever had and sitting at the bar watching it being prepared was amazing. The way the meat was prepared let the flavour speak for itself – no sauces, condiments, or extras were needed. It was absolute perfection and a real reminder that quality ingredients, cooked with care, are all you need. The service was just as impressive. Angelica, the head of house, was warm, attentive, and made the evening feel so special. I left feeling completely looked after and grateful for such a memorable dining experience. Thank you 😘

Firedoor Firedoor is one of those rare restaurants that manages to live up to its considerable reputation. From the first bite to the final charred marshmallow, the chef’s menu delivered a memorable journey through fire-kissed flavours. The coral trout, while perfectly cooked with a delicate smokiness, felt like it was missing a partner on the plate — perhaps a sauce to coax it from “delicious” to “outstanding.” The dry-aged steak, on the other hand, needs no introduction. Quite simply, it’s one of the best steaks I’ve ever had — and given my extensive “research” into steak consumption, that’s saying something. Dessert brought a smile: a playful charred marshmallow that reminded me fine dining doesn’t always have to take itself too seriously. That sense of balance is echoed in the restaurant’s atmosphere: polished and refined but never stiff, with the crackle of open-fire cooking keeping things grounded and warm. Service is attentive and professional, though perhaps a touch too rehearsed in its delivery. A little more personality from the waitstaff would elevate the storytelling of each dish — after all, food this good deserves a script that’s less Shakespearean monologue, more friendly banter. Overall, Firedoor is an experience worth seeking out. It’s equal parts theatre, craftsmanship, and comfort, and I’d happily recommend it to anyone who enjoys food that is as memorable as it is masterfully cooked. Just be prepared to leave already planning your next visit.

We celebrated my husband’s early birthday at Firedoor and had a wonderful experience. I originally hoped to book a Saturday dinner, but it was fully booked by early October—so we went for lunch and had the Chef’s 3-course set menu. Every dish was cooked by flame or smoke, and the flavors were incredible. The wood-fired bread was so tasty, especially paired with the smoked butter with honey & rye—I wish they served more than one slice per person! The scallop was flame-cooked to perfection and beautifully matched with a pork broth. We upgraded our Wagyu to the 250-day dry-aged steak, which was flame-kissed and absolutely worth the extra $70pp. A special touch: they surprised my husband with a smoked marshmallow topped with a candle for his birthday. It was playful, delicious, and perfectly in theme with their fire-and-smoke philosophy—such a thoughtful way to end the meal. I do hope they offer the 6-course set menu at lunch one day—we’ll definitely be back to try more of their hot flamed creations! The only letdown was the potato side dish, which didn’t quite match the high standard of everything else. Overall, the dining experience was excellent. Great food, warm service, and a memorable way to celebrate.

We drove from Melbourne especially for this meal for a special celebration. From the moment we walked in we were welcomed with a happy anniversary... the waiters were super attentive, the food magnificent 👌 the atmosphere lovely! They knew our dietary requirements and even asked if our under 18s wanted a different dessert due to the dessert having cooked off alcohol. Even the cutlery and glassware were, beautiful and an experience in themselves! The attention to detail was impressive! Each dish was explained, each wine a brief history, everyone was so knowledgeable, professional and pleasant. We got to meet Lennox who was such a gentleman and so humble. We even got to have a photo in the kitchen. You could see and hear everything as it was being prepared. Was the perfect night! Highly recommend as a special meal! Would recommend if you can get a spot at the counter, do it, you will get a different experience again! My only disappointment was the marron with finger lime wasn't on the menu, but will just have to come back when it is!! Could not fault anything! Thankyou Lennox and team for making our night so memorable!! You have ruined food for us permanently now, nothing will ever look or taste as good as it did at your restaurant 😉. Thank you! 🙏🎉❤️

Based on recommendations from the concierge at our hotel, plus seeing the restaurant featured in Somebody Feed Phil, we were thrilled when we were told that we managed to get a late booking. At that price point in Sydney, we thought that it ought to be a beautiful experience given the high baseline of food quality and service However, the experience was underwhelming. Food was alright, but nothing special. I was expecting one of those ‘this is a stroke of gastronomical genius’ moments, but it never happened. The closest thing was the westholme wagyu that was well cooked and very tasty. For the service, we sad with empty wine/drink glasses for a while and the timing and execution was just off. The team meant well and meticulously folded our napkins when we had to take bio breaks, but that could have been used better at the actual serving and by being attentive to the overall experience. As an example, we received our pre-dinner drink after the starters. We had times where we waited up to 25 minutes between dishes and neither the food nor service was at the levels one would expect for the price point. In relation to the atmosphere, the music was good. Gotta appreciate some L’imperatrice.

Positively extraordinary!!! My fiance and went here to celebrate my birthday and it was beyond perfect. Easily one of the best resturaunts I have ever been to. My favorite was either the lamb or the kangaroo. Since kangaroo is much harder to find, we spend the rest of our trip eating lamb wherever we saw it in hopes to chase that flavor again. Everyone in the kitchen, the servers, and the hosts should be proud of themselves. They work very hard and it shows! Once Michelin reaches Australia, im certain this will be one of their first stops. NOTES: -DONT look at my photos if you plan on going here, let them surprise you. It will be so much more enjoyable for you. -There isn't a dress code, but everyone was dressed smartly. I wasnt because I went to the blue mountains earlier that day and didnt have time to change, but they didnt say anything.

This restaurant is an experience and well worth however much you spend. The flavours were a delight to my taste buds. The service was excellent. The information provided with the serving of food and pairing of wine was educational. Glad my nephew recommended it to me.

Ester Restaurant is a trendy spot located in an industrial-style space in Chippendale, offering eclectic dishes cooked in a wood-fired oven. The restaurant is known for its romantic and dimly lit ambiance, making it perfect for a memorable dining experience. The menu features family-style dishes like abalone, chicken skin with mandarin kosho, and pork belly, all cooked to perfection in the wood-fired oven. Notable items include roasted oysters and a blood sausage sanga.
Had a lovely meal at Ester. Warm space, open kitchen with attentive & welcoming team. Good variety of cocktails and wine list is natural oriented from smaller boutique wineries. Most of the dishes were stand outs. Reservations essential.

Ester in Chippendale delivers an outstanding dining experience, with service that’s warm, polished, and attentive from the moment you walk in. The food was impressive overall, offering a thoughtful mix of flavors and textures. The highlight for me was definitely the Yamba King Prawn—beautifully cooked, tender, and full of flavor. If I had one critique, it would be the Pork Belly. While some may enjoy it, I found it a bit too sweet and thin, which overshadowed the natural taste of the meat. It was the dish we enjoyed the least.

Had a good experience but it was definitely quite pricey (especially the bread and prawns!) Food, service and vibe were all great though. Got the fermented bread with salmon roe dip — bread was hot, crispy and fluffy inside, though the dip wasn’t really to my taste (still good though!). The prawns were amazing with the spicy oil and crunchy bits, so tender and full of flavour, but was it worth the price? Not sure as there were only 3 prawns. The duck on paperbark with the tangy BBQ sauce was super juicy, smoky and sweet.

ester exceeded my expectations! reserved a table here with a recommendation from reddit and food didn’t disappoint. service was friendly. ambiance could do some work, the tables were too tightly packed so it was easy to bump into your neighbors. overall, must try! roasted oysters: perfectly smoky and flavorful, must try! potato roll: the roe dip was a little too salty but bread was top tier eggplant: standout dish of the night and must try! crispy, sweet, sticky, smoky all at once. unique flavors in harmony. king prawns: overhyped, skippable. dip was good with bread but prawns themselves lacked some flavor ester salad: refreshing with lovely vinegrette

I'm not sure I understand the hype. The food was good but nothing really stood out. For example, the reviews rave about the fermented potato head but it's just a nicely baked roll that you would expect out of any high end restaurant. The king prawn was also good but I felt something was missing to make it stand out. Not bad but not great. Finally, I upgraded to the wagyu scotch fillet which was excellent. The meat was tender, flavorful but covered in some pureed vegetable which wasn't necessary. The steak was beautiful by itself. Overall, it was a miss for me.

Such a nice experience dining at Ester. The flavours and dishes were very unique and we loved every single dish. My favourite was the duck dumplings. Absolutely tasty… they change their menu every day so I assume the ingredients are as fresh as it can get! it’s definitely not a fine dining restaurant so if you’re looking for a proper fine dining experience you need to go elsewhere however the service was great. Definitely recommend

Hands down one of, if not, the best meal I’ve had ever. Every single dish was a delight, interesting and innovative flavours, cooked to perfection all delivered with excellent service and attention to detail. Highlights were the bread, cheese pie, dumplings, eggplant and miso cod. Desserts, which are usually a let down, all hit the spot and were a perfect balance of options. Can’t wait to come back!

Can’t back here after my first visit when it opened back in 2014 (see original menu). Somewhat disappointed: although generally good food; much more expensive and far less innovative and exciting than i remember. The sight of crudo on a menu is a personal turn off and was predictable overwhelmed by the citrus. The highlight was the chicken juice patties and the crab but again nothing particularly memorable and fairly pricey.

A truly iconic Sydney dining experience Dining at Icebergs was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm, attentive service and seated at a table with panoramic views of Bondi Beach and the crashing waves below. The setting alone is worth a visit—elegant, modern, and infused with that effortlessly chic coastal vibe that defines Sydney. The menu was refined and seasonal, with a strong focus on high-quality produce and beautifully prepared seafood. Every dish felt thoughtfully composed, with standout flavours and artistic presentation. The oysters were some of the freshest we’ve had, and the pasta with spanner crab was a perfect balance of richness and brightness. Their wine list was extensive, featuring a fantastic range of Australian and international selections, and the sommelier’s pairing recommendations elevated the meal even further. The atmosphere struck a rare balance—it was upscale without being stuffy, sophisticated but still relaxed. The staff were professional yet personable, striking that ideal tone of hospitality that makes you feel both looked after and comfortable. We stayed long after dessert, sipping cocktails and watching the evening light fade over Bondi. It’s one of those experiences that leaves a lasting impression—not just a meal, but a moment. I’d recommend Icebergs to anyone looking for a special night out in Sydney, whether you’re a visitor or a local celebrating something memorable.

If you want to sit down and have an amazing view of Bondi Beach, then Icebergs is a must visit. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Although it can be really windy sitting outside, the views and vibes are worth it. The food was surprisingly pretty decent and prices are moderately high, which is expected of the location. It’s largely self service and the decor is quite nice. Very scenic spot!

Great views and great service, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The food however was very disappointing, my wife got a very undercooked quail and to they credit we didn’t get charged for it, my lamb was very salty and lacked some rendering of the fat, the flathead way overcooked. Overall we had a good time but must be frustrating for the front of the house to be let down by the kitchen. I don’t think we will go back.

We went to IDRB and had a wonderful experience. You can sit outside and enjoy a beautiful view of Bondi Beach, along with good food and drinks. The indoor setting is also very nice, with a good variety of cuisine. There are fewer chicken options, but overall it was a great experienc

Wow. It’s hard to say what was better, service or the food. Ah-mazing experience all round. We had the two course option (with a few cocktails 😜) and left completely satisfied.
