Bad Hombres is a trendy vegan restaurant in Sydney, known for its laid-back atmosphere and Mexican-inspired dishes. Since 2017, it has become a favorite spot for casual dining. The restaurant made a bold move to transition to an entirely vegan menu, offering inventive twists on classic Mexican cuisine that have been well-received by patrons.
Delicious gluten free and vegan Mexican food. We got the banquet menu which had a variety of items like tacos with a variety of fillings, deliciously seasoned corn, and rice bowls. The cauliflower was so flavourful and the portion size was absolutely massive. Both taco flavours were great, the miso eggplant had an interesting umami flavour.
Judy — Google review
Absolutely amazing experience at Bad Hombres! The chips and guacamole were fresh and flavorful, the charred corn had a delicious smoky taste, but the true standouts were the mushroom birria and the quesadilla, you cannot visit without trying them. The seasoning is spot on, and the atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming. The staff truly go above and beyond to make sure you have the best experience possible. Highly recommend!
Gerardo M — Google review
Wow!! What amazing food. All vegan, all gluten free - but no compromise on flavour. It was fantastic as I am celiac, and no worries at all about cross contamination. The crème brûlée was delicious, as well as the cauliflower tacos 🌮 10/10, will definitely be back.
Natalie V — Google review
We didn’t know it’s vegan restaurant before we got there! But the food were still tasty! Nachos were good! The best taco were eggplant one! That was the best flavor!! The others were okay! The atmosphere in the store was good, very chill and not too busy on Tuesday taco night :) The last order was 8:30pm and the store closed around 9:30pm
Zúuî — Google review
My favourite Mexican place in Sydney. It's vegan, but full of flavour. Their tortilla chips and tacos are all freshly made in-house. Everything is full of flavour. This time, I got to enjoy the 'tuna' tostada, mushroom taco, bowl of nachos and their quesadilla. All very tasty, even my meat loving friends don't miss the meat. Service here is very efficient, professional and not intrusive. Will definitely be back again.
Carlito — Google review
I thoroughly enjoyed the food at Bad Hombres even as a non-vegetarian, and didn't miss the meat thanks to the terrific flavours and textures. Everything we had was good but special mention goes to the mushroom birria for the memorable textures of the fried mushrooms and deeply flavoured broth. Service was quick and the rustic, cosy vibes were great for a catch up with friends.
Orange_tree_au — Google review
We had high hopes for Bad Hombres, unfortunately it just didn’t live up to them completely. The tacos were fine, but nothing special. The main we had which was the cauliflower was nice and filling and the dessert was the redeemer as it was delicious and didn’t scream corn. I would give this place another try and eat other dishes, but so far I wouldn’t recommend it. Also, staff were not brilliant, young hipster types so not terribly helpful but did their job.
Xanadu T — Google review
Amazing meal full of surprises. The dishes here are just so delicious. The way of cooking, flavours and textures of vegan food are very well done. The restaurant also have great atmosphere. Would be nice if the dishes can be of slightly larger portion.

Chica Bonita Manly is a vibrant and funky Mexican restaurant tucked away in a small arcade. The decor bursts with color, featuring Mexican tiles and Dia de los Muertos dolls. The menu is focused on tacos and tortillas, offering options like the California, Baja, Barbacoa, and Hippie. Additionally, they serve their taco ingredients in bowls with dressed salad. The restaurant boasts an electric atmosphere with music icons and silver star-shaped lights adorning the space.
I went to Manly with two of my friends and since we were famishing, we checked out few restaurants and zeroed on this one and glad we chose this. The food we tried was amazing and the raw vintage look of the restaurant added to the overall experience. The service was equally good. We had Veg KFC Bowl and Veggie Fries and Bloofy Maria in drinks. If you are looking for some really nice food and with decent quantity then do Chica Bonita a try. You won't regret it.
Navin G — Google review
Grabbed a quick lunch here on a Sunday noon. Service was very friendly and quick despite the place being busy. I ordered takeaway but atmosphere seemed very authentic and cool. I ordered the fish tacos, guacamole (with nachos) and the chicken burrito. Everything we ordered was really good! Especially the chicken in the burrito which was cooked and spiced perfectly and the fish tacos which where very juicy. Pricing was also fair, $6 for a quality fish taco is a great deal!
Nadav L — Google review
Really great food and wonderful service. We dropped by here starving and left well filled and very satisfied with the taste and experience. The vibe of the restaurant was great, and the waiter who served us was very friendly and helpful. The only downside was that the chips in the carne asada fries were very hard and tiny, GyG nacho fries are more my preference in that regard. The drinks and burritos were amazing, and the complimentary sauces complimented the food perfectly.
Matthew S — Google review
Had such a great night at Chica Bonita in Manly! The service from Margo and April was super friendly and attentive from start to finish. The portions were just right and perfect for sharing – the Wagyu and corn dishes were standouts, absolutely delicious. Finished the evening with a cheeky tequila from their impressive range, the perfect way to wrap things up. Thanks team, we’ll definitely be back!

Stumbled in here on a Thursday night and was pleasantly surprised! Quickly greeted by staff and sat down and provided with great service. Was offered an extensive happy hour menu until close (unheard of in manly) with margeritas and food. The coconut margarita was great and such value for money. Also had the best quac chips for only $10. Then tried a fish taco, one of the best tacos me and my partner have ever had. Atmosphere was great, lively but not overwhelming. Definitely will be back.
Pippa B — Google review
Amazing service- Connor was the best. Made sure everything we needed was sorted. Dined for birthday celebrations with family. Kids saying best quesadilla ever! Always great food and margaritas.

Tucked away little gem. The service is fantastic and made for a great dinner out. Archie was attentive and while it may seem trivial, the attention to details matters. Good food, accompanied by a mad selection of yatch rock tunes. Worth a visit.

Our favourite restaurant in Manly and consistently serves delicious food. The birria beef and mushroom tacos; and tostada with beans and nopales (fried cactus) are outstanding but I enjoy everything on the menu. The service is always attentive and on point.

Flying Fajita Sistas is a vibrant Mexican cantina located in Glebe, Sydney. The restaurant boasts a lively atmosphere with colorful decor and a well-stocked bar featuring tequila and mezcal. Owned by head chef Joe Slakey, this establishment offers a friendly ambiance and delectable Mexican cuisine that combines local flavors with traditional ingredients.
Really enjoyed all the food we ordered. I don’t normally enjoy chicken breast, but the chicken on their fajita was very very tasty! I liked the elote a lot too; it was well-seasoned. I didn’t care for the popcorn on the elote because it was not crunchy anymore given we got takeaway.
Pam R — Google review
Loved, loved the food! Can safely say it’s one of the best Mexican food I’ve had in Australia. The flavours and spices were strong and just hit the spot. The fact that they have multiple vegetarian fillings was just cheery on top. Their special Mexican Hot Chocolate, with a hint of chilli, was surprisingly fabulous. Enjoyed everything and highly recommended. This is now going to be our Go To Mexican restaurant from now on :) Staff are very friendly, polite and great with recommendations. We had all our ordered dishes on the table in less than 15 mins on Friday evening, which was totally unexpected. Lesson learnt: Order one dish at a time as they are really quick in serving and everything is so fresh!
Adya — Google review
We really enjoyed the food. The food was delicious sizzling fresh on the plates and well-presented. The staff were not too bad but could be a little more hospitable. The seating was very tight couldn't move around comfortably. The cocktails were good. Will go there again.
Samar C — Google review
Had tacos and burrito that were all good. The prawn and pork tacos were yummy, staff were friendly, and the drinks are good. It’s a bit tight seating when it gets busy.
Falana K — Google review
Fun Mexican restaurant in Glebe. Atmosphere is understated but trendy and stylish, I really like the locked liquor cabinet and chilli sauce wall. The food tastes like authentic Mexican, with plenty of vegan options. While perhaps not exactly perfect, I still found it enjoyable. Service has always been friendly whenever I have visited. I’d consider it best suited for casual, relaxed dining (not a fine dining or fussy experience) but with this in mind, still suitable for a date or for group dining with family and friends.
Beavdog 8 — Google review
Came here on a promotion. The bad... it's winter, upstairs is cold, be prepared to wear your outdoor clothes inside. They seem to be short staffed on wait staff. Only one waitress to service 50 people. Should really be two. The good, the food. It's tastey. Good portion sizes. Not sure I'd come and pay full price, but at 50% off on the food definitely worth a visit.
Robert L — Google review
Such a busy, buzzy, lively place filled with people, delicious smells & a wall of spicy sauces! Love all the food here - super tasty & filling. Havent had many chimichangas but this one is delicious! Love the crispy outside & generous filling. Fajitas are always delicious & tasty and I love the DIY part of the meal. The enchiladas are generous & rich, filled to the brim with your choice. The beef brisket was so tender and tasty but a bit too salty for my liking. Love all the dips and house made corn chips. Great for groups or any time and lovely cocktails & sangria. Best to book to avoid disappointment.
Princess G — Google review
Believe bad reviews....unlike how I ignored. Skip this place if possible. Only the drinks and quessedillas turned out to be good. The lamb meatball was very hard but flavourful and the chicken chimichanga had smelly chicken and had to be sent back. The worn out cutlery to cut through the hard meat ball was a joke and even after exchanging it was the same. As others mentioned the waitress gave a look of contempt.

Chula is a contemporary Mexican restaurant with vibrant decor and delicious food. Dishes include Oaxaca-style pizza, seafood, carne asada sirloin and six-hour braised beef barbacoa. The restaurant showcases the fresher side of Mexican cuisine and is perfect for those looking for something different in their mexican dining experience.
It was a deeply enriching experience. It was my first time organizing a birthday celebration at this restaurant, and it only took one evening for it to become one of my favorite places. The warmth of their service, the joy that fills the atmosphere, and the genuine kindness of the staff made everything feel like a comforting embrace from home, even from afar. Every detail was thoughtfully taken care of: the food was exquisite, served promptly and beautifully; the music played at just the right volume to enhance the mood without overwhelming it; the decor was charming; and the cleanliness, truly admirable. The seating arrangement for our group of 20 was handled with such care and grace—it felt comfortable, well-organized, and allowed everyone to enjoy the evening with ease and joy. From the bottom of my heart, I thank each member of La Chula’s team for allowing me to give my husband an unforgettable birthday evening. If you’re looking for a place that makes you feel at home or want to experience the soul and flavor of Latin cuisine, I would wholeheartedly recommend La Chula—time and time again. :D Thank you for all.
Jhoan_Guerrero — Google review
Restaurant that is losing its charm in my option. We went there for taco Tuesday and the tacos were nothing special. We tried all the tacos on the menu but nothing seemed to stand out. Drinks over priced and ambience lacking. Hope they improve
Brandon P — Google review
We ordered the fish tacos and the birria. It was unfortunately not worth the price at all, for both the quality and the portion. The recipe has changed - the fish was not particularly crispy, and didn’t taste very fresh. The birria was way too salty for me - it was juicy, but the corn tortilla was also lacking in crispness. We originally planned to order more, but it was so disappointing that we left. The flavours were very average. The atmosphere was nice and charming, but we were the only table at 6pm on a Friday evening.
Tessie — Google review
A big 5 stars for the bottomless brunch they serve up here.. Came on a Saturday lunch and the service was on point. Drinks were flowing, plenty of food served up and the atmosphere is nice. They even cater to different dietary needs, like vegetarian or pescatarian. Tastefully decorated and not overly busy. Well worth the money paid for the bottomless.
Carlito — Google review
Quite an average experience here – the Birria taco was tasty, but the other options were quite average in flavour and texture. The nachos were okay, but nothing exceptional. Good variety of food options, however, too pricey for what it is.
N A — Google review
Wow! My partner booked this place for our anniversary and it was the best option he could’ve picked! Food: The food was better than I could’ve imagined, so flavourful and such a variety of dishes. We ordered BBQ corn, Tuna Sashimi Tostada as Entree and not only were they very quick to come out, but fresh and tasty! We also ordered the quesadillas *chefs kiss* and tried the Pulpo (Octopus + Spiced potatoes). Our only critique was the octopus was a bit spicy, but no biggie- the dish could definitely do with some sort of sour cream or aioli to balance the flavours 🤌 We would 100% recommend the Mango-colada drink if you are looking for something refreshing and easy to drink. Tastes EXACTLY like a yummy Boost juice but with alcohol ;) Service: The service was top notch! Shout out to our waiter Sebastian! Made our night unforgettable and took care of us and was very hospitable. He ensured we were happy with everything and was lovely to chat to :-) Atmosphere: We had a booking at 6:30 on a Friday night. It was quiet as it’s only the beginning of the night, but we preferred this as we could easily have a chat and enjoy the music! I would definitely think the vibe later on in the night would be excellent! Overall 10/10 experience~ Chulas even went the extra mile to bring out a special celebratory dessert to celebrate us and our milestone. Will be back very soon!
Bianca D — Google review
Amazing dining experience, I had never tried any good Mexican in Sydney and was struggling to find a place that did authentic Mexican. Enter Chula, after hearing from an online food blog that there was a new head chef who actually is from Mexico, I decided to give the cusine at Chula a shot. Was very impressed, the cevice was like a party in your mouth and was full of flavour, with the balanced texture of the fish being a pleasure to have. Afterwards we tried the Cameron a la dibala and barboca lamb, the lamb in particular paired with the potato puree and seasonal pickles was spectacular, with the sweet and meaty flavours combined being one of my favourite dishes I have tried of the year. The lamb is one of the chefs Specialty dishes and after we were served, he even came out personally to ask us how the meal was, if we liked the main meals and if they was any feedback he could take. My time at Chula from the food and chef team was spectacular, to feel like you are walking into a food experience being treated like a diner that is cared about and dishes served to your palate preferences. I would highly recommend anyone go to Chula with the new management and kitchen team who serve up an authentic Mexican experience.
Domenic O — Google review
Our experience at Chula was truly exceptional. The food was absolutely spectacular, especially considering they were short-staffed that evening. Despite the busy service, the team went above and beyond to ensure we were happy, comfortable, and well-fed. The patatas bravas, haloumi taco, and chicken quesadilla were all standout dishes—I can’t recommend them highly enough. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, with a sleek, modern design that created the perfect atmosphere for our small group of friends. They even made my birthday extra special by bringing a sparkler to the table—a wonderfully thoughtful gesture that added a personal touch to the evening. On top of that, Chula is incredibly group-friendly, making it easy to split the bill and ensuring everyone feels taken care of. Overall, it was a thoroughly positive experience, and I truly feel this restaurant deserves much more attention. For anyone seeking an authentic Mexican feast, Chula is a must-visit. They also handle allergies with care, catering beautifully to peanut, nut, and gluten-free diets, which makes dining here both safe and stress-free. A genuinely memorable night from start to finish.

Mexican restaurant
Barrio Cellar is a stylish underground bar with vintage lighting, known for its tequila cocktails and Mexican bites. The venue's moody ambiance is enhanced by a bright red neon sign that lures patrons off the street and into the vibrant space. Previously a jazz club, it has been transformed into a lively bar offering an impressive selection of tequila and mezcal-based cocktails. The menu features flavorful Mexican street eats, including tacos made using traditional Aztec nixtamal methods.
Fantastic bar with a vibrant atmosphere and delicious Mexican food! The tacos were reasonably priced at $8 each, and every bite was packed with flavour — the fish taco was definitely our favourite. The drinks and cocktails were also impressive, with a great range to choose from. Highly recommend for a fun night out with great food and drinks!
Johnson H — Google review
The food was really delicious, the price matched up to the portion serve. The atmosphere was really calm, especially for a Saturday night. The staff were so friendly and attentive and helped with the menu. The drinks selections were really good, can seem limited on the non alcoholic options but they were good enough. The washroom was clean. Great food, great vibe, you can either go alone, with friends or even family as there quite a lot of space.
Shabrina — Google review
Great Mexican place with fun dishes and a very chilled setting. Really enjoyed the creative take on some dishes including the jalapeno poppers. Staff super friendly and easy to deal with. I do find the use of QR codes frustrating sometimes and prefer to just talk to someone about options. It was great that we could do this - especially after we ordered three jugs of margaritas rather than three glasses!

Been here a couple of times. Jugs of cocktail options are great. Atmosphere perfect. And food good. Cheese burger tacos and the fish one perfect. Great social spot and dance later

Checked out this Mexican place last weekend and really enjoyed it! The food was tasty, and the cocktails were surprisingly good—especially considering I don’t usually drink tequila. I ordered two tequila based cocktails, and both were great. One of them was the Purple Hearts, and I absolutely loved it! The atmosphere was nice and relaxed, I’d definitely come back and would recommend it to anyone looking for good food and drinks.

Barrio Cellar is a hidden gem in the heart of Sydney, offering a vibrant and energetic atmosphere that instantly puts you in a good mood. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The staff made us feel right at home, always checking in without being intrusive, a perfect balance that enhanced our overall experience. Now let’s talk about the food, absolutely delicious! The quesadillas were perfectly grilled, with just the right amount of gooey cheese and flavorful fillings. The tacos were another standout, fresh, well-seasoned, and full of bold, authentic Mexican flavours. You could tell the ingredients were fresh and carefully prepared. Every bite was satisfying, and it’s clear the kitchen takes pride in its craft. But the real stars of the night were the cocktails. Barrio Cellar’s bar team knows what they’re doing. Each cocktail we ordered was beautifully presented and packed a punch without being overpowering. Whether you’re into classic margaritas or something more adventurous, they’ve got you covered. Overall, Barrio Cellar delivered on every level, great food, amazing cocktails, and top-notch service in a lively, underground setting. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to return to with friends, and we definitely will. Highly recommend it for a fun night out!

The menu features a variety of traditional and contemporary dishes, including fire-roasted calamari, sugarloaf cabbage with pistachio crema, and hand-pressed corn tortillas filled with options like marinated spit-grilled pork and pineapple or battered prawn with tomatillo. The restaurant boasts an extensive drinks list focused on tequila and mezcal, offering detailed tasting notes for each selection.
Came here with a group of friends for dinner and was so impressed. Esteban is hidden away in the CBD, and the whole venue has this incredible, moody medieval vibe with a huge open fire grill that sets the tone as soon as you walk in. The atmosphere is fantastic for a group catch-up or a date night where you want a bit of a wow factor. The absolute standouts were the signature tacos – both the fish taco and the steak tartare taco were amazing and worth the visit alone. The wagyu ribeye was perfectly smoky and cooked to a perfect medium rare. I also have to give a special mention to two things you might overlook: the Caesar salad, which was surprisingly one of the best and tastiest I've had, and the house potatoes, which were absolutely addictive. Overall, a fantastic venue with a great vibe and food that truly delivers. Service was attentive and handled our group easily.

Celebrated my birthday last night with the amazing team! the waiters were so so amazing and warming. We went for 105$ pp set menu while we liked a lot of dishes but some were misses for us unfortunately. The elements they put in burrata was way too salty and the most important element dessert was a major miss. I couldn’t resonate with the sour jelly and roasted coconut. But yes definitely a good experience overall and will go again for the hospitality.

Amazing hidden gem in the CBD. If you're craving steak, tacos or just a good feed this is a place that will satisfy all. Highly recommend getting the market steak with the garlic butter and twice cooked pork which are absolutely sensational. The service is good and food to match. Only downside is the music is a bit loud at times.

Taco, yes, beyond taco, a definite go-to! We ordered a variety of dishes and I truly enjoyed everything, but the coffee pumpkin, slow-cooked pork belly, and dry-aged steak with black garlic butter stood out as absolute favourites. The service was extremely warm, with the team showing impressive knowledge of both the dishes and the drinks. Overall, highly recommend! Food & Value: Excellent quality, creative flavours, and well worth it.

We had the pre-theatre meal - The service was warm and attentive throughout, which made for a pleasant dining experience. Unfortunately, the salmon entrée was a letdown—it didn’t appear to be made with fresh salmon and had a noticeably fishy taste. The pork belly tacos also missed the mark, with flavours that felt muted and underwhelming. Overall, a fair 3 out of 5. The hospitality was commendable, but the food quality didn’t quite justify a higher rating.

Our server that night was incredibly helpful and eloquent. It was our first time dining there, so we weren’t entirely sure what to order, and one of us had a strict dietary restriction. We were very happy and comfortable enjoying our meal after your server assured us that everything was made gluten-free. The salmon tartare taco was absolutely amazing and refreshing—it was my favorite! I didn’t catch his name, but he looked like one of the restaurant managers who served us. I’d be glad to come back and recommend the place to my friends. 6:00 PM, 27 October 2025

Such a cute little restaurant. We chose to sit at the bar tonight for my partner's birthday and it made our dinner more enjoyable by being able to watch all the talented chefs in there working so well together Our waitress was so lovely and took the time to explain the drinks to us. Every dish was a hit and we will definitely be back again.

Came here while visiting Sydney. We booked a few days in advance, but as I know the place gets extremely busy, we ended up sitting at the bar. It was okay, but the seating felt a bit cramped, and you couldn’t help but feel like someone was watching you eat. Overall, the staff were friendly and super helpful. Being gluten-free, I tried a variety of items on the menu. We had one of each taco, the calamari, and a few cocktails, everything was delicious! I’d highly recommend coming back, but definitely try to book in advance to get a better seat. One downside is that it’s very dark inside, so if you have trouble reading menus, bring glasses and a small light, otherwise, you’ll be guessing.

Favourite food I’ve had in a really really long time, we were truly transported to Mexico. Unreal food and cocktails, and super high quality. Perfect balance for veggies and meat eaters alike (we all loved the cactus to share). Really innovative menu which the staff was happy to explain and answer all our questions. Thanks for a great night!

Extremely authentic Mexican food! Wow — it felt like being in Mexico with extremely delicious salsas + beautifully cooked steak. I love to order the TLACOYO DIVORCIADO + STEAK. There is a bean-filled + stuffed tortilla at the base with a layer of eggs and steak. It is to DIE FOR! The staff here are super happy and willing to make you feel comfortable which is what I love about a dining experience like this. Domi, the manager is always super friendly and the bartender, he is so awesome!! Their menu is different on the weekends vs the nights. Come during both times to get two different experiences!!!! Thank you!!!!

I visited this restaurant yesterday and it was such a unique experience for my palate. I tried Mexican dishes I had never tasted before, and each one was a delicious surprise. The cocktails were also amazing. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere cozy. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for something authentic.

My photos don’t do the food justice, it was hands down one of the best food experiences I’ve ever had. It was great to explore traditional Mexican food and I really wasn’t sure what to expect, but flavours were heavenly. We ordered: 2 x prawn and scallop tostadas - they’re quite a generous size as a starter for each person. 1 x totopos to share - great if you like guacamole plus a nice kick of grilled onions 1 x volcan de pulpo with octopus - this was also perfect to share. The octopus was incredibly tender, but the small unassuming cup of consome was the star - slightly spicy yet refreshing with every little sip. As a non-drinker, I also loved the Horchata drink - I could down a litre of that easily and still want more. Great vibes for a Saturday night. Wonderful service, everyone was super lovely and took the time to give us recos. Really can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu.

Unforgettable food — every dish bursts with flavor; dining here is truly an experience. The place is cozy, and the staff are very friendly. I want to come back with all my friends to show them what I’ve discovered: the best restaurant in Sydney so far.

Super lovely staff and amazing Mexican food - flavourful, filling and all Gluten Free! They are vegetarian options as well, and a wide range of small dishes to share. We absolutely loved it! Reservations strongly recommended.

We had a really solid dinner here. Started off with the corn soup which was very flavoursome, the prawn taco, pork al pastor taco, the cactus ceviche before finishing with the beef cheek main. Standouts were the corn soup which was really comforting on a cold winter's night and the cactus ceviche which was punchy and perfectly complemented with the crunch of the accompanying corn tostadas. Service was fantastic - attentive and warm. The beef cheek main was missing some acidity for a zing and I felt there could have been better value for the tacos given the price of each so have deducted a star but we enjoyed our dinner nonetheless!

Booked myself in for tostada Tuesday and was not disappointed. The toastadas were so good a little hard to eat but had great flavour. The guacamole and chips were a banger too. The machete was decent I did find it a bit hard to cut through but found the beef filling to be very delicious. Parking difficult as always in Newtown. Highly recommend booking as it's always packed. It was actually. My 2nd time returning here as first time I came without a booking and got rejected.

Mejico Restaurant in Sydney offers a vibrant and modern take on Mexican cuisine, set in a colorful and lively atmosphere. The market-to-table menu features fresh guacamole made right at your table, along with an array of flavorful dishes such as salt & pepper fish tacos, kingfish ceviche, and fried chicken with plantain habanero hot sauce. The restaurant's high-energy ambiance is complemented by an extensive selection of tequila and cocktails.
We had an early dinner, such a amazing place, it was buzzing even then. The food was glorious- lots to choose from and service with an exception- top notch. Tom needs a special shout out! thank you for a wonderful evening. My pictures don't do justice .
Meenakshi V — Google review
We booked Mojico through First Table and were excited to try something new, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing. When we arrived, we were left standing at the door for about 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Even then, the staff seemed confused about where to seat us outside. Service throughout the night was poor—waiters avoided eye contact, seemed distracted, and it took three separate trips just to clear and wipe down one table before we could sit. The food was a mixed bag. The corn ribs and guacamole and fish tacos were enjoyable, but the vegetarian taco lacked flavour (mostly carrots, not very balanced). The fish was okay, and the potatoes were decent. The biggest issue was the wait for our steak took around 40 minutes to arrive, and we had to chase it up. By the time it finally came, it was close to 10pm, which really dampened the experience. Atmosphere-wise, it just felt awkward and unwelcoming, which didn’t help the overall impression. In short, the food had some highlights, but the slow service and lack of attentiveness made the evening underwhelming. Not sure I’d return.

Erin and Tom at Majico were the perfect duo of hospitality — warm smiles and quick service! Both were incredibly sweet and gentle. The food was amazing, especially the vegetarian taco, though it could use a little tweak — maybe replace the carrot with something else. Overall, the food and atmosphere were fantastic, making it a wonderful experience!

An amazing spot, hands down! The atmosphere is great and perfect spot for dinner. The food was delicious. We had the octopus skewers and ceviche which were fresh and tasty. But hands down the best dish was the market fish tacos — hands down amazing. So good we ordered it two more times. A must try if you go!

I had the Classic set menu at Mejico and was genuinely impressed by the food. Every dish was absolutely delicious. Fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavour. The set menu offered a great variety, giving a well-rounded taste of Mejico’s signature dishes. Each plate was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. From the starters to the mains and sides, everything was a solid 10/10. The drink included in the menu was also a highlight. Refreshing and well balanced. The atmosphere was lively and the decor had a stylish, modern feel that added to the overall experience. For the quality and amount of food, the set menu was excellent value for money. Definitely a place I’d return to, and I highly recommend the Classic Feed if you want to sample a bit of everything.

Loved Mejico! Fantastic food, excellent margaritas, great service and such a fun atmosphere, what more could you ask for? Standout faves were the seared tuna, beef empanadas, pulled pork tacos, and the frozen classic margaritas.
Tricia V — Google review
We had a great time at Méjico the food choices we made were solid overall! Everything was simple but super tasty. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the carrot tacos (just a personal preference), but everything else hit the spot. Definitely worth a visit if you’re after good flavours and a laid-back vibe.
Bella — Google review
It was an interesting experience starting from disappointment but ended on high notes. Kingfish ceviche was neither generous nor punchy. Guacamole though prepared on spot lacked seasoning but fried plantains were good. The item that hit out of park were the Empanadas. Well seasoned filling in perfect pastry with chimichuri blew our brains! The stuffed jalapenos were good too, epecially the thin crispy tempura coating. Finally the rump steak was perfect! I wasnt impressed with watermelon cucumber, the dukha was not sufficient to bring them together and some watermelon pieces were a bit off. Overall, if you visit make sure you order the Empanadas! Service was a bit slow in refilling water, but good otherwise.

Tasty food, good vibe and lovely staff with a real personal touch. The staff made us feel special. They took note of it being a special occasion and made fuss about us when we arrived. Our waitress was the right amount of attentive and talkative. We really enjoyed the food and view of the Harbour Bridge. Tasty cocktails and desert to round the night out! Definitely worth a visit for a special dinner nice lunch.

Me and my boyfriend had a fantastic evening at this restaurant and would highly recommend it. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a great ambiance that made us feel instantly comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious – the Grilled Scallops and Octopus Zarandeado were particular highlights, perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The cocktails were just as impressive, especially the Margaritas – some of the best we’ve had in a long time. A special shout-out to our waitress , Ella, who was incredibly attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. Her friendly and professional service truly made our night even more enjoyable. Can’t wait to come back!

I had the pleasure of dining at Bar El Patrón, and it was nothing short of extraordinary! with the impeccable service provided by Ela and Annabelle enhancing my experience. We started our culinary journey with the Ceviche Patrón, which was incredibly fresh and bursting with flavors—definitely a standout appetizer. Next up was the Chicken Tinga Tostada, 5 stars, a delightful combination of tender shredded chicken and crispy tostada that left me wanting more. The Tacos Al Pastor were simply divine, showcasing perfectly Pork Barbacoa, while the Lamb Barbacoa Tacos delivered melt-in-your-mouth goodness, offering a rich, savory experience that was unforgettable. Next, the Tuna Tostada, recommended by Vinni, which was light yet satisfying, beautifully topped with a zesty sauce. For the main course, ordered the Grilled Pork Belly with Mole Verde. This dish was an absolute revelation—the pork belly was succulent, and the mole verde complemented it perfectly, creating a symphony of flavors. To cap off this incredible dinner, I indulged in the finest Cajeta Flan, which was creamy, rich, and decadently sweet—an absolute must-try! Lastly, Vinni recommended the Gran Patrón Piedra Tequila, and it was the perfect ending to a fabulous night, with its smooth and rich taste elevating my dining experience to another level. Bar El Patrón exceeded all expectations with their exceptional service, expertly crafted dishes. Thank you, Ela, Annabelle, Vinni and the rest of the Team and, of course, the great Chef Azhaan, México should love you, for making the evening so memorable!

This place is a hidden gem with outstanding views, drinks, food, and service. Follow the advice of Vini, he is passionate about his profession, knows his tequila, and food (thank you Vini!). We had Tommy Margaritas (with salt), scallops, tuna tostadas, and the toothfish. Go there, sit at the bar, order the above. Heaven!

Food: I had the lamb Barbacoa tacos, the Mexican bean salad, and the tuna tostada. The tuna tostada was out of this world and I could've just had two more plates of that for dinner. The tacos and the bean salad were OK, but nothing I would return for. Service: the staff is so friendly, easy to talk to, and just made the whole experience super enjoyable. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were so kind and I really enjoyed my time there. Sometimes when you go in as a single person you feel a little awkward, but the staff made me feel very comfortable. Atmosphere: It's a little hectic and loud in this restaurant and it doesn't have a true vibe if you ask me, but it was just fine and I didn't mind it.

Nestled in the vibrant Bondi area, Carbon Mexican Woodfire Restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience that celebrates the rich flavors of Mexico through traditional wood-fired cooking. This charming eatery, inspired by the haciendas of the Mexican Caribbean, features a warm and inviting atmosphere adorned with classic white walls and colorful textiles.
I actually really enjoyed the bottomless drinks. Margaritas are authentic, not the usual pre mix crap. Food is on the lighter side but on a bottomless package it’s the perfect amount so you don’t get too full. Great tacos, and guac. Fransisco our waiter was absolutely amazing at bringing the vibes. Can’t wait to come back.

Best Mexican I have had in a long time and that's compared to some restaurants in Los Angeles and Sydney. It's not your typical Mexican food it's modern Mexican ... much healthier and not the usual rice and bean dishes that taste all the same... the food here is superb quality every single dish issue we had was Amazing... the steaks , octopus , corn, deserts ! Friendly Service, great music, and good atmosphere

We had an amazing experience! The tacos and guacamole were absolutely delicious, and the margaritas were perfect. The Good: Simply delicious! Visited for a birthday dinner on the recommendation of a friend and it was an absolute standout. The highlights were many — the guacamole with pomegranate and lentil papadum was fresh and full of texture, the kingfish ceviche was vibrant, and both the barramundi and chicken tacos were flavour-packed and perfectly cooked. The venue itself is chic and candlelit, with a warm Mexican-Caribbean vibe that adds to the whole experience. Cocktails were beautifully crafted, and the service was attentive and polished throughout. Room for Improvement: None on this visit — it all hit the mark. Would I Return? Without a doubt. Already planning the next visit. The Verdict: Carbon Mexican delivers on flavour, style, and service. A beautiful dining experience that’s equal parts relaxed and refined — a must for lovers of modern Mexican cuisine.

Ricos Tacos has become a beloved fixture in Rosebury, Sydney, offering an authentic taste of Mexican street food right outside the bustling Gelato Messina. This vibrant taco truck serves up a limited but mouthwatering selection of tacos, including their standout beef birria, which features tender braised beef topped with onions and fresh cilantro, all enhanced by their signature salsa roja—a delightful blend of heat and sweetness.
Rico’s Tacos was fantastic! Every taco was packed with perfect flavours, but the fish taco was definitely our favourite. The corn chips with guacamole were also delicious—the guacamole was perfectly seasoned with a drizzle of chilli oil on top for an extra kick. The courtyard is beautiful, making it a great spot for afternoon drinks and a relaxed vibe.

Came for the tacos — they’re close to authentic and taste fine, but I found them a bit overpriced for what you get. Overall, not the best value. The venue is nice though, with a cozy patio and an upper level with pool tables.

If it looks like a taco joint, and it smells like a taco joint, then in all likely good it really should be a taco joint. I want to say something and that is that Ricos does not disappoint! Be sure to try out the taco special of the day and if you drink alcohol, they have some amazing cocktails, spicy, and delicious.
Aryeh S — Google review
It's not a bad place, has a nice vibe, but the food was shocking. The tacos were not good at all. Apparently, they have new owners, and the good food items have been taken off the menu. Was really looking forward to this place but was disappointed.
Pete B — Google review
I was very disappointed with the food even though I love Mexican food. Nice courtyard at the back but all the tables were booked and upstairs was empty but booked for a function. Quesadilla was unlike any I have ever had and not in a good way at all. Taco was a lot of meat but hardly any flavour. Might be better if they were just a bar with snacks or really focused on being a proper restaurant because at the moment - they are bad at both. The three of us tonight all hated the food and they served me a veg one instead of pork and it tasted like cardboard. Overhyped, overpriced.
Mark B — Google review
If you advertise a 250g sirloin and charge $38, at least season the steak and make sure the original weight is 250g. While the steak was cooked well, it was super chewy, had a lot of gristle, and what happened to seasoning? The "home made corn chips with avocado salsa", in theory sounded great. Execution, poor. Chips, stale. Avocado salsa, where's the love for the salsa?
BEK — Google review
Great food, drinks (solid wine list), and atmosphere. Such a refreshing change for a Sydney pub. Love that you can order from Rico’s Tacos menu or their pub fare. It will become our new go-to.

Super homey and cozy looking taco joint in the streets of Darlinghurst near white rabbit gallery. We got 3/4 of the tacos and they were all delicious - cauliflower was my personal favourite, it was so juicy. The chorizo and potato ones were also very flavourful and the fish was yummy too. However, the enchiladas and hash browns weren’t amazing but dipped in the salsa increased their flavour.

I visited this place for the first time on the recommendation of an acquaintance. Great cheap Mexican food in the centre of Surry Hills! One of the first places I checked out after landing in Sydney and still one my faves. Food is pub style text mex, so are drinks! I strongly suggest the frozen margarita and the sangria. Good selection of vegetarian options too. The service is quick and super kind. The atmosphere is very Mexican and colourful.

Great place if you are lost on Sophia Street and want to eat late. Nice barman and waitress, good quesabirria, even the doorman is nice. There's a DJ on site, and you can watch the game on TV AND sit on a chair (I'm looking at you, Cock'n Bull in Cairns) while drinking one of the many beers or cocktails they serve. I have no idea if the rooms are nice, but it's comforting to know there's a hotel where you can spend the night if the owner of the Beautiful Sunny Studio you reserved cannot be reached.

If you're ever paying a visit, be sure to chat with Luhos (Slovak manager) - he's one dry fella with humour while keeping that straight face. Props to him and the crew for booking us virtually half the area with clear signage while leaving the furniture intact which impressively provides heaps of standing space. Tacos were filling and the room has different light shades to transition from daytime to early evening for live music.

They have a taco lunch deal, so I tried one of each flavor—really tasty! Next time, I’ll go for a different burrito to compare.

Authentic Mexican food by owners with 15 years’ experience. Nice decor, good drinks. Tried Quesadilla, Fajitas, wings, burrito—all tasty. Deals: $33 unlimited tacos (Tuesdays), $5 tacos (lunch Mon-Fri). Recommend!

Great vibe and tasty food! The chicken nachos were loaded and delicious, and the cocktail were spot on. Colourful decor and friendly service — feels like a little slice of Mexico in Glebe.

Was there on 19.07.25. Very fast and attentive staff! Good service. Food was delicious, spice levels on par to Australian cuisine (don’t expect Indian spice levels, but the sauces available on table can add up to the heat) Overall excellent experience.

El Loco at Slip Inn is a vibrant cantina that brings a delightful twist to Mexican cuisine, crafted by the talented chef Dan Hong. This lively spot features an array of tantalizing tacos, including standout options like spit-roasted pork with pineapple salsa and lemongrass beef topped with salsa verde. The menu also caters to vegetarians with marinated tofu tacos.
Great pub and I visited a few times during my recent time in the city. There’s a small number of tables on the pavement out the front but plenty inside, spread out across three areas. It’s a lively spot even on a Thursday evening but it was possible to grab a stool at the bar and both the staff and crowd were friendly. Lots to admire in the decor and a good location - worth visiting for an enjoyable drink.

Visited with work mates on a Friday night. We had a booking and got seated in the downstairs area. Ordered a range of their happy hour snacks as well as some of the other items on the menu. Generous serving size and great drink options. My favourite was the cauliflower!

Nice Mexican restaurant on Sussex street in Sydney. Right next to hyatt regency darling harbour hotel. Nice bright and colourful decor. Big nacho helping but not necessarily the best in taste. Advertised all margaritas at $16-18 for Mon-Fri but did not give the discount, claiming the discount doesn’t apply to frozen margaritas but didn’t inform so when I was ordering.

I visited again after some time and noticed the menu and flavours have changed. The chicken wings had quite a strong taste, almost like vinegar or fish oil, which reminded me more of fish than chicken. The beef taco platter has also changed – it used to be steak with beautiful presentation, but now it feels more like a Chinese-style stir fry and is quite oily. I really enjoyed the food here before, so it was a bit disappointing this time.

I lkke this pub. Easy to book a table, no matter how many people. Food is always good and made to share. Great atmosphere, especially outside in Summer. Good selection of beers. This is my go to city pub when meeting up with a heapnof mates.

In search of a place to meet colleagues, it seemed ideal - good location, surroundings look terrific, food looked good, great bar selection. Well, that was the night before. Hard to get a table, couldn't reserve one, & the place was packed and louder than a footy game! Nachos were a winner, & plenty of them. The other food was on the spicy side (a big comment from me, the lover of spice!), which meant less enjoyable. Drinks were great, great variety. If you're looking for a loud place with mediocre food and a great selection of drinks, this is the place for you.

Disappointed. So many food options nearby and I chose the one with an inedible Brisket Burger. Chewy meat and left half. Chips and sauce were amazing but sides are not a meal. So very disappointing. Bit light on in the Whisky delivered as well. Once I’ve was removed 60% of the volume disappeared, tasted non alcoholic. Can’t recommend and hoped for better. Nice staff not supported by food.

Great find in the center of CBD or at least closer to all corporates. Well laid out with ample seating and quick friendly service. Their weekly specials are great we love the $1 Chicken Wing Wednesdays and $6 Taco Tuesdays… Happy Hours from 5pm onwards are a bonus.

Alma, with locations in Avalon Beach and Freshwater, offers innovative and delicious Mexican cuisine. For just $49, you can enjoy a three-course lunch on Fridays, complete with an ice-cold margarita. The menu features dishes like kingfish ceviche and smoked chicken with corn-truffle mousse. With beachside charm and modern-Mexican share plates, St Alma is a must-visit spot.
The most amazing, authentic Mexican food you will ever try. Staff are so lovely and friendly, always making sure you’re happy. Not to mention that the atmosphere is lively and has a traditional Mexican style. The guacamole, empanadas, barramundi tacos and birria tacos MUST be tried! We will definitely be returning soon.

So this restaurant like like a typical premium westernised Mexican restaurant. The staffs looks professional, one of them was so welcoming and friendly. He also told me that the tacos are $5 not $8 like in the menu, idk why. I ordered scallops, fish taco, birria taco, and pork belly taco. scallops was alright from the presentation, nicely seared, but one of them was slightly undercooked but it’s fine for me, I also love their purée. Birria taco was ok but a bit warm (maybe because it’s sitting there to wait for another tacos. This birria taco doesn’t have a dip sauce. Fish taco was also good, not too dry. And the last one the pork taco. This is my favourite, but the chunks were too big and it’s a bit hard to eat, I know cutting thinly is very difficult after roasting, maybe they can pre slice it before roast or deep fry like Chicharrón. Place also looks beautiful and classy, they also provide a clean toilet. Also the kitchen located at end of the hallway through the toilet, so it’s semi open kitchen, customers can see the kitchen and it was really clean as well

Beautiful little Mexican restaurant! Not traditional Mexican but beautiful modern menu! Prawn tostadas are super yummy and the burritos are tasty and huge!

Whilst the food is delicious, the service lets this restaurant down. My partner and I have dined here twice and received poor service on both occasions. First time, staff eating behind the bar took their time to take our order and had to ask for water twice. Second time, three employees standing behind the bar having a chat had to request for our order to be taken to be dismissed and then served a filthy glass. Will never return nor recommend which is a shame as the food is lovely.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Alma Restaurant and I must say, it was an absolutely incredible experience. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the inviting atmosphere and the aromas wafting from the kitchen. The menu at Alma Restaurant is a food lover's dream come true. With a wide range of delectable options, it was difficult to choose just one dish. However, I highly recommend trying the grilled corn, short rib dish, honey halloumi and coconut margaritas - they were all simply divine. What truly set Alma Restaurant apart was the exceptional service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my dining experience was perfect. Their attention to detail and their genuine desire to make each guest feel special is out of this world. I am already counting down the days until I can return to Alma Restaurant and explore more of their menu. It truly is a hidden gem that deserves to be discovered. Treat yourself to a visit and prepare to be amazed. Buen provecho!

The food at Alma is truly something special — every dish felt like it was made with love. The flavours were fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced. You can tell the team takes pride in what they do. The margaritas? Absolutely sensational — some of the best we’ve had! And a big shoutout to Bonnie, the owner, who was so lovely to chat with. Her warmth and passion for the restaurant really added to the experience. Can’t wait to come back!

We went to this place with a group of 7 as a friend of mine recommended ALMA and it was absolutely fantastic! The variation of the dishes, the super helpful staff and the great drinks - it has been a great experience. The Avocado-Taco and the Ceviche were my absolute highlights! Would definitely recommend, also for veggies.

Calaveras Mexican Cantina & Tequila Bar is a vibrant restaurant located in Newtown, easily accessible near the station. The decor is inspired by colorful Mexican art, particularly Day of the Dead illustrations, creating an exciting atmosphere. The bar offers three types of margaritas, including a unique blood orange variation. Ascending the stairs reveals a cozy ambiance with twinkling lights and art-filled walls, setting the stage for an authentic Mexican dining experience.
Just been converted to loving Mexican food! Our experience throughout the night was fantastic. The quality of food; freshness, authentic tastes, ingredients, and presentation was really appetising. The customer service was professional, attentive, and friendly, which contributed to the vibe of the restaurant. Highly recommend.

A wonderful restaurant with delicious food, great atmosphere and fantastic staff. The new chicken birria tacos were delicious, please add beef birria tacos to the menu if you are taking suggestions! Corn ribs are delicious, as are the chorizo quesadillas. We came on Friday for early dinner and the place was nearly empty, all the dishes came within ten minutes of ordering and the lady who served us was very attentive. Enjoy $15 cocktails Fridays 4:30-6:30pm... we know we did! The Fairy Floss drink is very sweet and the Pineapple Margarita very tasty but the highlight was the fantastic Frozen Strawberry Margarita. It had such a smooth blended consistency and tasted phenomenal. We will definitely be back to enjoy more delicious food and try each margarita flavour! Thank you :)

I LOVED the food here!!! Our server was lovely, friendly and patient with us, even when we wanted to keep menus in case we needed more food.
Lars X — Google review
Really underwhelming. I constantly felt like I could make better food at home as a novice cook, and for cheaper. We got five items 1) al pastor taco: The flavour of the pulled pork was done decently and the pineapple added a nice kick of sweetness and acidity. Pork could be more tender. 2) senor pollo taco: The chicken was dry and overcooked which ruined the dish. The flavours lean herby and fresh. 3) Mujer bonita taco: Just alright but a little too skinny in size for the price. 4) Birria tacos: Too mild overall in flavour, just alright. I feel the mozzarella had a noticeable flavour because the consomme and taco itself didn’t taste strongly spiced. Using chicken for a $28 (3pcs) taco is pretty stingy. 5) One of the alambre dishes for a main: Most disappointing. I make better stir fry dishes at home with generic supermarket taco seasoning. The meat was dry and not seasoned well. For nearly $30 it feels criminal. Please remove it from the menu.

I’m from the Hunter Valley. We were off to see Jeremy Piven and some friends asked for some recommendations on some dinner options. It was over 4 years since my last visit here and it left a last impression. We ventured here and it only got better. The wait staff were brilliant, greeted and provided options of where to sit that we were most comfortable. The drinks were delicious (I would have preferred an amaretto sour over the amaretto margarita - but it was a good suggested alternative) and the food was exactly what I and my friends were after. Check it out, I loved it!

Chicken and Chipotle Quesidia was so good. I also had the Patron Margerita which came in a fun Patron "Bottle". The service was fast the atmosphere fun!

It is one place that everyone should try... always fully booked... you must reserve otherwise you might end up waiting in line for an average of 30 minutes. The service is really good and welcoming. The vibe is definitely traditional and the drinks rock. I was a bit disappointed with the food as it simply missed that taste... the appetisers were good but the guacamole was not the best. The chicken fajita was dry and did not have many sauces, was super extra hit that we couldn't eat it. A nice experience with a very nice music

The biggest downfall of Calaveras was the outrageous wait time. The food was fine and I really enjoyed the atmosphere, it was very colourful and exciting, however with the prices and the wait time, I'd expect the food to be a bit more noteworthy. We had the birria tacos (5/10), the chicken quesadillas (6.5/10), and the chicken nachos (6/10). We also ordered the churros with chocolate sauce but it came with dulce de leche... Wouldn't come here again but it wasn't the worst place I've ever been

Ate here a few months ago but had such a memorable date night dinner here. Booked the day of without any fuss. We were recommended margaritas but I prefer mezcal and they kindly accommodated my preference and made mezcalitas. The food was super special. The barramundi collars, the octopus dish, and chilli dessert were especially memorable. Staff were so kind and friendly. We spoke to the chef, who is clearly passionate about true Mexican flavours. A Hidden Gem in Potts Point We had a truly wonderful experience at this restaurant. The owner is clearly passionate and deeply involved — you can feel it from the moment you walk in. He created the entire menu himself and took the time to guide us not only through the food but also the drinks. The sangria was particularly original and absolutely delicious — definitely not your average recipe. The dishes were small, but each one was refined, full of character, and offered unique flavour combinations. You can really tell that everything is made with care. We were excited to find kangaroo on the menu — it's not easy to come by, and it was perfectly cooked. A real highlight! But I personally really enjoyed the guacamole, once more it was definitely not an average receipe. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed, which is quite rare for a Friday night in Potts Point — it made the evening even more enjoyable. It's the perfect spot for a date or a slightly fancy dinner with friends. All in all, I highly recommend this place. It's a true hidden gem — and one we’re very happy to have discovered!

Very characteristic place with Mexican food but not in the form of the usual tacos and burritos, more of an upscale one I have a ceviche dish, that was very good! I would made the portion a bit bigger but, yeah, it was very tasty. The moles, Mexican dipping sauces, were very nice, each of them different from the other ones, served with small tortillas.

Great place for upscale Mexican food and drinks. I have been here already for the third time and liked food and atmosphere a lot. Signature for me is the mole tasting option - with 4 very different kinds of mole. Drinks are great as well - good cocktails and an impressive Mescal selection. Finally, the creme brulee was to die for.

Great flavours~ The cauliflower and kingfish ceviches are a must-try. The fish taco could use a bit more citrus — grapefruit zest or yuzu would lift it nicely. The prawns would be even better needed a rich lobster-miso butter to boost the flavour. With the spices in the dishes, personal recommend offering a sparkling rosé option — it would pair beautifully and be really easy for diners to enjoy. I requested a Laurent-Perrier Cuvee Rose Brut. Which they help get it organised. Thank you very much.

This restaurant has a real cosy and relaxed yet special vibe to it. Apart from waiting for a short time for the maître de when we arrived, the service was absolutely impeccable. The food was really tasty with the pork belly tacos and yellow fin tuna tostada being the standout dishes. The crab empanadas were not as expected and quite strong and salty in flavour. There was 5 of us so we ordered "trust the chef" menu and it was a generous serving of food. We loved every dish. Dessert was a bit of a let down but it might also be because we were so full. A brilliant bottomless brunch with stunning food and fun friendly service. I was taken to St Alma for my birthday and loved every minute. The bottomless brunch starts off with guacamole salsa macha with tostadas which was delicious. It was followed by salmon crudo which was yummy. We chose the agave beef short rib with grilled cos, pickled carrots and tortillas which was an outstanding dish - beautifully cooked and great flavour - I would come back for this dish alone - stunning. And the polenta parmesan fries with chipotle aioli were the perfect accompaniment. Margaritas are fabulous! And a range of flavours. And the dulce de leche and rum flan was delicious and the best way to end a wonderful lunch!

We arrived just as the restaurant was opening for a lunch booking. We were seated at our table for two. A huge drawback of this restaurant would be the fact that the noise coming from the kitchen is heard inside the restaurant (if you arrive for a lunch at 12pm). So for the first 15 to 20 minutes we were there. I could hear cutlery being put away (banging and clanging) , food being blended (loud grinding), and just the general noise of a kitchen. Really offputting when you’re trying to enjoy a drink and relax. I would’ve requested to be moved to another table, however the tables for two people were just in that one section next to the kitchen. As the time went on the noise from the kitchen drowned into the background noise of the restaurant I would suggest putting some 2pax tables in another spot so that people who are sensitive to noise can enjoy their time, or perhaps have staff arrive a little bit earlier so that all of the loud cutlery and preparatory blending of sauces etc can be done before customers arrive at 12. However, from there everything was absolutely amazing. Service was really friendly and fast. All of the food was absolutely amazing. The only dish that left a little to be desired was the pork tacos. I wish that there was a better serving of pork as it felt a bit empty. Cocktails were amazing 🤩 I would definitely come here again.
Deanne — Google review
We wanted to like it… Unfortunately it just wasn’t a great experience. The waiter promised us things that were never delivered (a lamp for reading the menus 15min late, a water refill we never got), our tacos took 40min after the starter course to arrive (nearly an hour after they were ordered) and then the mains another 10min later, and the music kept ending and being restarted after five minutes. The drinks also took a really long time, arrived midway through starters. There were five tables, two waitstaff, three in the kitchen, and a bartender for five tables, so it really should have been quicker. We got no update on the delays, I think they were avoiding our table because of that, and we had a diabetic with us. One of the waitstaff was doing her best but was clearly inexperienced, and the other was chatting with the kitchen most of the night. The mains were overcooked and dry, which was a shame because the flavour was good. The portions was also small for how they were priced. We would have liked dessert but we didn’t have confidence it would come out any faster. Overall they missed the mark on everything for us and we won’t visit again. Given all the other positive reviews I really hope it was just an off night for them.

The food was great but the service was not. The waitress forgot to take one of the order (we were just 3) her excuse was that we were all chatting ar the same time and that she forgot (we had to ask after more than 40min where the food was) and she barely apologised. Then we saw a rat in the restaurant and afterwards instead of telling us that everyone had left and asking us to leave (we were in a corner so couldn’t see anyone else) they just put very loud music so we couldn’t hear each other speak. Very bad experience honestly. We won’t be back.

Our group came to this beautiful establishment for the Bottomless Brunch service. The staff were all very attentive and the flow of drinks was amazing. This establishment also adhered to our needs by making sure our dietary requirements were followed. Laura was amazing with the drinks, must try her speciality (pina colada). Manny or Manuel was so far one of the best waiters I have come across, he was kind, charming and great to have a laugh with. If you are looking for Bottomless Brunch service this is the place to go!!! Thank you very much La Farmacia !!!

Food was average, no water served in an hour, my michelada was watery and the spicy margarita undrinkable. When I asked to change it, the manager refused which is fine, but her rude attitude made everything worse. The low point came when I mentioned to the bartender that I was more disappointed with the service than with the drink itself. The manager argued with me directly, telling me she “could not put up with my expectations” and even claimed that “not even a 5-star restaurant would change it.” She also said it was “my problem if I didn’t like it” — extremely rude and unprofessional. What was supposed to be a relaxed, enjoyable after-work evening turned into a frustrating experience. We left without dessert because of the poor service and disrespectful behavior. Staff in general were fine apart from the manager. I have worked in hospitality myself, including at a Mexican restaurant, and I know how important it is to treat guests with care and I have never said anything similar to any customer. A simple gesture of kindness or acknowledgment can make all the difference. She preferred to lose a customer rather than handle the situation with basic hospitality. First and last time. Definitely not recommended !!!

The queso fundido is a hit as a starter and is perfect for sharing, the birria taco is an 4/5, I feel it lacks flavour, the cochinita taco and chicken taco are 3/5, they lack a lot of flavour for a good experience. The blueberry & mint cocktail and the spicy strawberry cocktail 5/5 are a hit as well. The tropical pina very simple 3/5 nothing to highlight. The service was excellent and the place is very cosy and pleasant.

El Primo Sanchez is a cantina-style Mexican bar located inside Paddington's The Rose, brought to you by the team behind Maybe Sammy. The concept aims for authenticity and respect towards Mexican culture, spirits, and food. The retro interiors with block colors and suspended disco balls create a visual feast reminiscent of 1940s Mexico. Guests can expect delicious Mexican street food and an energetic atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff.
This is as such a refreshing new funky place to come out to! Great New Mexican fit out, amazing selection of Tequilas I haven’t found anywhere else in Sydney..and I love tequila! Wonderful attentive staff, quick service & authentic good old fashioned service..yes! My husband & I could still talk and at the same time groove to the cool beats, the sound here was on point, still loud enough to be cool, but still able to chat..perfect! Have just sent link to a bunch of friend to catch up next week. Loved it!!!

I celebrated my birthday yesterday at El Primo Sánchez, a Mexican spot in Sydney, and it was such a great experience! We had a booking so we didn’t have to wait at all, and the staff was super friendly and attentive, service was amazing. The drinks were delicious, especially the Paloma! It has a mandarin slice on top that gives it a really nice touch. We also went into the karaoke room, which was so much fun! I love the new venue; Jorge and the whole team were incredibly nice and made sure we had a great time. And of course, we ended the night playing toques, a classic in Mexico 😂 Highly recommend this place for both the vibe and the experience. Oh, and I had the lamb taco, so tasty! 🌮✨

What an incredible experience at El Primo Sanchez! 🔥 The vibe, the energy, and especially the Negronis wow, they were absolutely delicious, perfectly balanced and full of flavor. 🍸 But what really made the night special was the staff every single person was warm, fun, and genuinely made us feel at home. You can tell they love what they do, and that energy is contagious. Can’t wait to come back for more great drinks, good music, and that unforgettable hospitality.

Just visited El Primo Sanchez for their opening and was seriously impressed. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly — you can tell the staff really care about creating a good experience. Tried a few things on the menu but the margarita stole the show — easily the best I’ve had in Sydney. Perfectly balanced, super fresh, and dangerously easy to drink. The vibe is fun and laid-back with a cool energy that’s hard to find. Can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu. Highly recommend checking it out!

All the classics you’ve come to expect - great cocktails, delicious food, funky karaoke and fantastic service (shoutout Eric!) - in a bigger and better location. Congrats legends, can’t wait to be back again!

Atmosphere is good for a bar/club. Food is extremely poor especially for the price of it. The set menu is $55 and you have to share most of it with other people in your group. Everyone was starving at the end and the food was not good. Tacos were double wrapped with tortillas, with barely no filling. The only thing that was nice from the menu was the tuna ceviche. Drinks were ok but $26 for a margarita that would take 15 mins to come to the table. Music was good at the club part but would not recommend for food.

Tacos Muchachos is a delightful pop-up eatery that has taken Surry Hills by storm since its launch in July. Inspired by the vibrant street food culture of Mexico, this weekend-only spot offers an array of mouthwatering dishes crafted under the guidance of talented Mexican chef Tonatiuh Arocha. The menu features succulent pork al pastor tacos and quesabirria, complemented by fresh tortillas hand-pressed by Jazmin Castaneda.
I relate to Sarah A's comments so much that it's hard not to give up hopes on finding good mexican food in Sydney. You can tell this place is legit by the corn tortillas and how they present the tacos. The mushroom one was my favourite. It's got a very meat like texture with incredible smoky flavour.

I’m so happy I found this place!! I’m a native Californian that grew up eating authentic Mexican food. I’ve also traveled to Mexico a couple times and absolutely love Mexican food. Having moved to Australia a few months ago, I had pretty much given up on Mexican food. 99% of the Mexican food here in Sydney is absolutely terrible and comparable to Taco Bell. But then I found Tacos Muchachos while searching google maps for a dinner spot. The first thing I noticed was how beautifully decorated this spot was! I felt like I was transported back to Mexico City and it was amazing. The staff were so friendly! I overheard a couple workers speaking in Spanish and I felt like I was back home. They also shared some chocolate with me, which was so kind. The tacos were delicious! And I really enjoyed the salsas. They even sell jarritos! I think this is the closest thing you’re gonna get to authentic Mexican food here in Sydney. It’s absolutely delicious.

Cute spot inside a hostel. We had the quesabirria and the costras which was a special on the board. The former is fried tacos stuffed with beer, served with a consomme on the side. The latter has a layer of lacy fried cheese with choice of protein on top; we had one with pork and another with beef. We liked the pork better as it was juicier. Friendly service and food arrived pretty quickly. Wouldn't mind revisiting to try the normal tacos.

The food was absolutely fantastic, this little Mexican street food restaurant was tucked away cozily in Redfern. We had the: Al Pastor Taco Quesebirria Taco Al Pastor Taco: ($7 per taco) 5/5 Extremely soft, slow cooked Pork. This was heavenly. The only issue is there is not more served. Quesebirria Taco: 8/5 (21.99 for 3) The best taco I’ve ever eaten. The taco is so crunchy, filled with juicy, soft, melting beef inside. It’s so flavourful with chilli like filling and Birria dipping sauce that’s so thick, juicy and spicy. I was in love. Amazing food, customer service and the decor is so beautiful. 10/10 recommend, however it can get a bit expensive.

Daniel Hansen and his team have moved their pop up Taqueria into a more permanent location in the boutique Hotel Hacienda in Redfern, just off Cleveland St. A lover of Mexican, he’s opened this place that sells the authentic style Mexican street food in a cool and up beat modern space. We love the ambience, with its Mexican tunes and bottom floor of the hotel transformed into a cool dining space with modern Mexican themed art and decor, bright rugs and leather couches. Of course, a couple of cacti too. Daniel tells us there’s plans to open a rooftop, which would be cool! On the menu, you’ll find their famous tacos, nachos, quesadillas and burritos, with beef, chicken or even cauliflower. Whilst the food is all brilliant, you must try their signature - the quesabirria tacos – a taco that has be fried in meat fat to produce a crispy outer casing, filled with tender slow cooked beef, cheese, onion and cilantro. You then dip this in the accompaniment- a spicy consommé. We also had tacos and opted for the chipotle marinated chicken, topped with their fresh taqueria guacamole. We chose the corn tortillas and really enjoyed these. They do a weekly specialty of our favourite meat, the al pastor (spit-grilled pork shoulder) tacos but due to the weather, it wasn’t on this week, so we must revisit for that too. We do think their tacos are the best we’ve had in Sydney. Drink wise, grab yourself a Jarrito soda, Mexican beer or spicy Margarita. It’s a great place to enjoy authentic Mexican street food in a fun atmosphere.

Possibly the best soft shell tacos in Syd. The food is tasty, but pretty expensive. But expect to spend $40pp for a decent feed. TIP, buy your drinks from the hostel vending machine in the dining area instead of from the restaurant to save a few bucks.

It's difficult to find good tacos in Sydney, but that has all since changed. Tucked inside the Hacienda Hotel is this lively open-space restaurant serving up crazy delicious authentic Mexican street food. I ventured out on a Tuesday night as they serve up $5 Tacos as part of their "Taco Tuesday" specials; walked in and was surprised to see a full house with no empty seats to spare. I ordered the Al Pastor taco; the pork was so tender and perfectly cooked, with the creamy guacamole and salsa. As it was a full house, wait time was considerably long - I didn't receive my order until an hour after I placed it. Begging the question, is it worth the wait? Yes! Yes, I believe my hunger after the hour or so wait did contribute to my overall satisfaction of my meal but also the corn tortillas hit different compared to the flour ones and not many places do it which separates Tacos Muchachos from the rest of the pack. Must try!

Took my teenage daughters to see the Flamenco show at Seymour Centre and found this place to be geographically desirable so thought we would try it out. OMG!!! It was awesome! I got the three tacos- It was perfect I felt like I was back in San Diego. Girls for the nachos and quesadilla loved it and they are harsh critics being you know teenagers always looking to fault food- they couldn’t. If only we had more room for some dessert. The gentleman at the register was super sweet made great conversation and helped us pick our food. You can tell he loves his job, I felt like we were guests in his home. We was quite attentive to everyone. The room was chill. It has a great vibe, simple and warm. Perfect spot for Mexican street food. We are definitely coming back. Thank you for everything! Especially the tequila ;)

Tacos Tacos Tacos is a cozy, neon-lit Mexican joint in Potts Point that offers some of the best tacos in Sydney. The menu features a variety of options, including delicious choices for both meat eaters and vegans. The pork tacos are particularly noteworthy for their caramelization, and the fresh ingredients shine through in every dish. Despite not serving alcohol, the vibrant flavors and good music create an inviting atmosphere.
Best tacos I’ve had in Sydney! Everything we tried was packed with flavour, especially the beef suadero. We went for an early dinner so there was no issue getting a table. A great hole in the wall restaurant. I’ll definitely be back!

Best tacos I’ve had in Australia. The tacos were well balanced, the tortilla felt fresh and the flavours were delicious. I really loved their tostada special of the day too - I hope they keep it around because I’m looking forward to having it again. The vibe there is also is great so it’s nice for both a casual meal or a fun meal with friends.

Girlfriend and I had dinner here last night and we tried one of every taco flavour. All delicious! The chef special of the Kingfish Tostada was definitely a highlight! Beef taco was a star too. Tastes like fresh ingredients and did not wait a long time, so the service was good in my opinion. Please more people go and support a small independent business like these guys! 👌

Hands down best tacos in Sydney! The cook is a trained Mexican chef who has worked in one of the best restaurants in Mexico before migrating to Australia. Such a quality hole-in-the-wall, super authentic, well priced and worth the short wait. I’m so glad I stumbled in after seeing how bustling it was. You must try this place!

If you're in Potts Point looking for good cheap-eats, Tacos, Tacos, Tacos should be on your list. It has a cosy atmosphere and super friendly staff. Vegan diners will love the options (if you ask), and everyone can appreciate the fresh ingredients. For meat eaters the caramelisation on the pork is chef kiss 🤌🏼. The menu offers plenty of choices. Although there's no alcohol, the vibrant flavors and good music shines through. Offering great value for your money, they deliver authenticity and quality, making it a must-visit for a relaxed, flavourful meal. 🌮

Nestled in a century-old warehouse on Australia Street, Comedor is Newtown's vibrant modern Mexican restaurant and bar that beautifully blends head chef Alejandro Huertas' rich heritage with venue manager Kieran Took's passion for agave spirits. This unique dining spot transcends traditional cuisine, focusing instead on fostering community connections. The menu features innovative dishes like kingfish tostadas paired with nduja and pineapple, alongside hearty options such as retired dairy cow steak drizzled with mushroom glaze.
Lovely service by the staff at Comedor. They were very attentive & overheard us commenting on a guests birthday and surprised us with a birthday candle in the dessert, unprompted. The food was tasty, I was expecting some more items with some heat/chili though. Cocktails were also delicious. Note that they are located in a residential area so they are strict about guests leaving the restaurant on time.

We had a flawless dining experience at Comedor last night. Kicking off with a refreshing lemon cocktail, the evening was full of laughs, chat and incredible food. We enjoyed everything, if anything, we found the steak kinda standard which isn’t a criticism because it was tender and cooked perfect but everything else was mind blowing

We went to Comedor for lunch and had a fantastic experience—the decor really sets a warm and stylish vibe. The service was solid, friendly, and attentive, and the food was prepared beautifully with fresh ingredients and great flavours. I'd love to come back for dinner and explore more of the menu. Definitely a spot worth visiting!

Comedor is a great addition to the mid market food scene in the inner west. They have a few things to work out service-wise though. Waiters were pleasant and knowledgeable about the food but failed to communicate things such as when last drinks were after lunch which meant, although I had ordered a drink and got it, the several other people at my table could not even order a beer or wine because the bar was closed for one hour or so until dinner. This struck me as odd... firstly, why not serve drinks until such a time as the table needs to be turned over, I'm aware that staff need a rest, bit there's always someone on to serve a simple (ie: not a cocktail) drink. The bare minimum is to let tables know that last drinks were being served, instead, we sat there whilst I gulped my drink and we left which was really awkward from a customer perspective. The food was mostly very good, the cacio E Pepe with sunflower seeds was exceptional and others were just ok but the price point was fair and selection was great, especially for vegetarians/vegans. It would be great to see a larger set/degustation menu too but the 3 dishes for $35 is great for two people who just want a taste of what the restaurant offered.

How exciting to find a fabulous new restaurant off the main drag, away from the hustle of King St. From the outside there is silence, you open the doors and hear happy conversations and the harmony of an extremely well run restaurant. The food is artfully presented and the flavours are amazing. Our waiter Kieren explained every dish with expertise & also helped with our wine selection to compliment the dishes we had chosen. There wasn't anything I could fault, all of the staff were lovely. Every dish was piping hot, and a perfect amount of time between each dish. You should definitely try this fabulous new restaurant, you won't be disappointed.

I love this new place in newton. Food is astonishing, showcasing the chef’s passion and creativity. Offering is authentic and classy, it has a touch of Mexican flavours mixed with some other cuisines. Wine list is very interesting, simple but with lots of different styles. I can wait to have another experience at this place. Totally worth it.

I’ve been excited to try Comedor for a while now…as I’m already obsessed with a few similar style locations in the inner west, I thought Comedor had it in the bag…especially after looking at their menu. Alas, it did not make 5 stars for me today. Summary: It’s a beautiful space. Skip the lamb. Have lots of the tostadas and make sure you enjoy the cocktails because they are yummy! And don’t book a late seating or you’ll feel the pressure. More detail: We had a late Sunday lunch with friends. It was a 3.30pm booking and I was a little concerned that it might be too late and we might be rushed out, but I was assured at the time of booking that it would be fine. Unfortunately it was not. The service was friendly, with a perceptible edge of “please hurry up so we can leave on time”. It was subtle, but enough for us to feel it through the speed of the shared plates and the multiple times we were followed up for things by multiple staff members. It was a pity, I wish we were made aware of this fact by staff upon booking. Take my advice, avoid a late booking. As for the menu. The salmon tostadas earned my 4 star rating on their own. If that was all we ate my food rating would be 5 stars. Go there for just these alone and you will NOT be disappointed. The potatoes can be skipped. The brussel sprouts can be skipped as well. Both felt like pub sides. The sauce on the prawn overpowered the prawn in my opinion and if you do order the prawn, be generous with the lime and skip the tortilla it is served on, it was dry and overpowered the delicate prawn. The tuna was well balanced and tasty. I regret ordering the lamb over the chicken. It felt a little overcooked and mushy and I found it lacking in balance and flavour. Although once we mixed in the coriander it sort of worked. Even if I dislike raw coriander. The desserts were amazing!! As were the cocktails! So just go for the tostadas, cocktails and desserts. With an early booking ;-) and you’ll have a great time. Also, this might be a Sydney issue and not a Comedor issue. But a $50 service fee for a 1.5 hour Sunday lunch felt excessive.

Really love this place that we have been going to for multiple times now. The atmosphere is really cosy and is perfect for a date night or for gathering with friends and family. They have a beautiful cocktail list and… of course, the food is excellent. Laura and Alejandro are both excellent chefs who are always smiling and we love to come back to see their positive vibes from the open kitchen. We also love Ruan very much that perfectly looks after our table everytime. We will be back again soon

Cafe Sydney is a renowned rooftop restaurant located in the Customs House, offering stunning panoramic views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the city skyline. The restaurant is celebrated for its modern Australian cuisine and signature cocktails. The executive chef ensures that the food matches the spectacular views, with a menu featuring dishes such as tuna tartare, ricotta gnocchi, braised beef cheek, and roasted pork belly.
Went here for a date night before going to the Opera house. We had an outdoor table directly looking out to the Harbor Bridge - the view was perfect. Being plant based, there was a separate vegan menu for us with 3 starter entrees, 3 main meal and 3 desert options. We tried all 3 starters which were all incredible, the main meals too and we tried both the vegan flourless chocolate cake and vegan organs cake for desert which were amazing! The servers were friendly and the vibe was good. Highly recommend Cafe Sydney.

Visited for my birthday and left quite disappointed. We were seated and asked for sparkling water, but no one came back for nearly 20 minutes. I tried to get someone’s attention, but nothing — meanwhile, a table that arrived after us was already being served. It was frustrating, especially on a special night and I was really needing some water and a glass of wine to start. After my partner spoke to the staff, a server came over, apologized, and took care of us. He was friendly, and once things got moving, the food and wine were actually really good! The scallops were delicious and they even added a small “happy birthday” message to my dessert, which I appreciated. Still, it didn’t sit right that we were rushed to pay while other guests were still eating despite being served late and it was not even the peak 7-9pm dining hour but a 8:30pm-10:30pm slot. For the price point, I expected much better service.

The restaurant definitely deserves credit for its stunning view. The main dishes were delicious, and the cocktails were excellent. However, the child course main dish the tomato pasta, was absolutely terrible. My child, who must have been really hungry, took one bite, gagged, and refused to eat any more. Out of curiosity, I tried a bite myself… and I immediately had to spit it out. It was literally just overcooked pasta noodles mixed with ketchup. For $52, the child course is a complete rip-off. Please, do not order it. You’re far better off ordering a proper main dish instead, it would be more economical and wouldn’t ruin your child’s appetite. I honestly can’t believe a chef would serve something like this and consider it suitable for their own children. When the waitress came to ask how the food was, I honestly told her that the pasta tasted like noodles mixed with ketchup and was basically garbage. She only responded with a smile. I couldn’t understand what that response meant, nor why she even asked the question in the first place if no real concern or follow-up was intended. In the end, I walked away feeling deeply regretful about what turned into a $330 dinner. Such a disappointment.

For front row view of the Sydney Harbour over delicious fancy dining, this is the right spot. It sits at the top floor of the Customs House in Circular Quay. We came here for dinner and really happy with everything we picked: Tuna Carpaccio, Gruyere Souffle, Beef Tenderloin, Roast Duck Breast. Extensive wine list offering decent selection of wine by the glass. Of course a visit wouldn’t be official without the mandatory photo in front of the glittering Opera House.

Dinner more on the expensive side. During a warm Summer's day a very good dining setting if you can get an outside table. Set above Custom's house you get to eat in front of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. With Sydney spoilt for choice. The menu seems a bit pedestrian. Been there twice for dinner and once for pre dinner drinks. The second time round the service felt a bit pretentious as wait staff tend to be too busy but felt duty to ask how things were but didn't care for the answer. Water was not offered till long after meal was ordered. And topping up had to be asked. Cocktails reasonably priced. Mocktail options good. Great location to take visitors from abroad. Good location for pre dinner drinks.

The food is always so tasty here. Service is superb. It has become a favourite of mine, the view as a massive bonus. Cocktails are ok, they don’t suit my tastebuds as much but definitely worth going for the experience.

When we first sat down at the restaurant, the service was wonderful. The waitress who looked after us was especially kind and attentive, which left a great first impression. Once the food started coming out, however, the experience became a little disappointing. The oysters were fresh and delicious, but the duck parfait had a slightly unpleasant aftertaste, and the bread served alongside tasted somewhat burnt. The burrata cheese dish also felt unbalanced — pairing it only with bitter witlof and radicchio leaves didn’t seem to complement the cheese well. The octopus was tender, but the bitterness was stronger than expected. Usually, grilled octopus has a lovely smoky flavor from the wood or charcoal, but in this case the bitterness was overwhelming. When the scallop dish was brought out, our table was still full from the previous course. The runner suggested that we each take the scallops directly from their tray, but we asked them instead to place the plates on the corner of the table. In the process, we had to hurriedly move the oysters off their plates and shuffle everything around to make room before we could eat, which disrupted the flow of the meal. Overall, the entrées were underwhelming, while the mains and sides were more enjoyable. Still, many dishes felt under-seasoned and lacking in balance, which was a shame. The view was beautiful and the service at the beginning was excellent, but the food itself did not quite meet expectations. Unfortunately, that makes me hesitant about returning.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great vibes, bold flavours, and fun atmosphere! I came here for lunch and absolutely loved it! The wings were the highlight perfectly cooked, super saucy, and full of flavour. We tried two types of sauces (spicy and bbq) with creamy dips that paired perfectly. The nachos were also crisp and fresh, served with tasty dips that hit the spot before the mains arrived. The staff were friendly, the music and decor gave a lively Mexican cantina feel, and the colorful table setting made everything feel extra festive. Definitely a great spot for casual catch-ups, sharing plates, and enjoying good vibes around The Rocks. Highly recommend trying their wings, some of the best I’ve had in Sydney! 🌮🔥🍗

As someone with an Asian background, I truly appreciate the creativity and flavors here, and I’d highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for great value, tasty dishes, and genuine service.

First time trying vegan dishes. I must say it’s pretty tasty and the way it’s presented it’s really nice. The Zucchini flowers was a delight, Crispy edamame coated eggplant flavourful but I personally think the pizza could have been better.

A delightful vegan restaurant with creative dishes! We got three different plates and a dessert. Each dish brought a new combo of flavors! I'm normally not a huge dessert person but they had one that was more on the savory side (pictured here) that I really enjoyed!!! The waitress was fantastic with recommendations when they were out of ingredients for one of the dishes we ordered. The only thing I regret is that we only got the opportunity to eat here once :) Will absolutely return if I find myself back in Sydney!

I have never sworn so much during a meal but I had no control over it because the food was so ducking incredible. My fella and I very quickly worked out that the banquet option on the menu is un-ducking-believably good value and opted for that. And duck me did it deliver! This photo was the first of many courses that were delivered and every single thing ranged from very good to abso-ducking-lutely incredible. The flavours and textures and variety of both were just a symphony of the senses. At one point we were presented with a dish full of cauliflower which is far from my favourite food but wouldn’t you ducking believe it, it was ducking incredible. Rich and spicy and light yet hearty. Extremely ducking impressive I tell you. And then, desert. Sweet holy ducking Jesus on the cross. This was all done with utterly flawless charm and impeccable grace by our delightful server (who deserves a raise Yulli’s fyi.). I didn’t catch her name unfortunately but she was dressed as a basketball player and may have had the words “Big Willy” attached to her back. (It was Halloween). In summary, if you haven’t already done so, ducking go!

Absolutely delicious food. I love vegan food so much, they were super creative and very delicious. Eve was our server, I recommend the company to please give her more service training- we got a $56 bottle of Prosecco which was delicious but i was very surprised when eve just placed it on the table without serving it. I asked her why she didn’t serve it and i dont think she understood me. I found that very rude. She didnt have a lot of tables but she wasnt very attentive. I had to get up out of my seat and ask yet again to have another napkin and knive as my meal was already on the table by then. My brother dropped a chopstick but after her lack of attention we gave up. She is very friendly but needs training. On another note the tables are super super uncomfortable especially for tall people. I implore the company to please reconsider changing to other tables as it was very uncomfortable.

The options on this menu sound very appealing, however left a little to be desired in execution. All the food was very sweet leaning, without discernible flavour differences between dishes. The broccolini was cooked really well, but the sauce needed more salt and acidity, to balance it out. The leek and ginger dumplings had a sweet sauce on top, which could have been forgone, and the wrapper to filling ratio was off, it would’ve benefited from thinner wrappers. The vietnamese pancake was nice, but was more like a faux peking duck as opposed to a banh xeo which we were expecting from the description, though that was our mistake. The walnut pappardelle was surprisingly our favourite of the dishes we ordered, as it was not sweet leaning and had a lovely cauliflower creamy sauce. Overall would not be my first choice to return, but if I did I would try other menu options.

Mexican restaurant
SoCal Sydney, located just 15 minutes north of Sydney's CBD in Neutral Bay, offers a taste of California with its laid-back beach vibe and rooftop bar. The restaurant, founded by Applejack Hospitality's Hamish Watts and Ben Carroll, features a sunny Californian theme with succulents, cacti, pastel decor, and hanging greenery.
SoCal Mexican’s bottomless brunch was easily one of the best I’ve tried! The food was excellent plenty of it, fresh, and full of flavor. The Tommy’s margaritas were unreal, and the staff were some of the friendliest I’ve ever experienced at a bottomless brunch. They were super generous and really added to the overall great vibe. All around, an amazing time I’ll definitely be back!

A fantastic place to visit! Gorgeous rooftop dining and nice interiors. We went for Taco Tuesday and ordered every single one, all of which were delicious! Our favourite was the pork belly with pineapple, cabbage & Jalapeños. Even better paired with their Margaritas & Happy hour!

I am not a fan of Maxican food, but SoCal has changed my mind. The vibe is good and the food is fantastic. Fish taco is my recommendation , I love the complexity texture of the crispy fried fish with fresh & flavorful salad on top. I can tell this is the best fish taco ever of my life. Guacamole , Tuna ceviche and beef taco were perfect. Chef Scotty did his job very well! All staff are friendly and professional.

Had my partners birthday bottomless brunch on Saturday afternoon. Staff were so friendly, top notch customer service. Quality food and plenty of it everyone was stuffed and it's not often you get such good quality plus quantity. Everyone loved the margarita package, as a beer drinker only thing is I would have loved a draft beer rather than cans included but such a small detail made no difference to a really great afternoon. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely be back!

The Good: SoCal Neutral Bay has some good things going for it. The food was delicious—full of flavour, generous portions, and great value. From the guac and chips to the tacos and a share-worthy enchilada that could’ve fed half of Sydney, it was a fiesta on a plate. The margaritas? Chef’s kiss. Staff were super accommodating, tucking us into a cozy corner despite being fully booked. The vibe, music, and décor made it feel like we’d stumbled into a sunny slice of Mexico. The Room for Improvement: Honestly, not much to gripe about. If I had to dig, maybe just that we didn’t get the rooftop spot—but that’s on us for not booking ahead. Lesson learned: book if you want the full Mexican rooftop glory. Otherwise, it’s a solid experience all round. Would I Return? Absolutely. SoCal is one of my favourite Mexican spots for a reason. I’d go back in a heartbeat—preferably with a bigger crew so I can justify ordering one of everything and not feel judged. The Verdict: In conclusion, SoCal Neutral Bay is a must if you love fresh, vibrant Mexican food with great vibes to match. Whether it’s a casual lunch or a rooftop margarita session, this place always hits the spot. Just don’t forget to book if you're aiming for that verandah sunshine and full Mexican vibes.

Love this place so much! The vibe was very relaxing, all the interior design and decoration are adorable. The staffs were super friendly as well! We ordered fish, beef and chicken tacos. The fish one was our no.1! The beef one was a bit fatty. Also we added some pork on the nachos, we thought it would be pulled pork but it was pork belly! It was too fatty for us. But the nachos were still nice! Looked like a corn chip pizza, full of cheese! Really love this place, would definitely love to recommend to everyone! Excited to try more dishes next time :)

Buffet restaurant
Govindas is a long-standing vegetarian Indian buffet restaurant with a cozy atmosphere and a unique feature - an upstairs cinema room for movie nights. The all-you-can-eat buffet offers a variety of vegan and vegetarian dishes, including coriander channa dahl and crispy deep-fried cauliflower pakoras with chili chutney. Priced at $25 per person, the buffet provides an ever-changing selection of homely and tasty food.
Great food and ambience. Lots of options for vegetarians. The cauliflower pakora is simply the best. Clean venue. Friendly staff. Dine on the balcony if possible because the interior can get warm and noisy. The cinema hall has great reclining couches with lots of pillows but it can get frigid so bring a blanket or jacket! Great for date nights!

3.9/5* The Feed Punchers visited a very unique punch destination, Govindas restaurant and cinema. For $28, there is an all you can eat, vegetarian buffet, incorporating fresh ingredients with a strong Indian influence. At the start of the buffet line, there were options of white rice, brown rice, pots of soup and dahl. Next came salads, pasta and a variety of vegetable curries, which utilised predominantly; chickpeas, lentils, potato’s and tofu as the staple ingredient. The stand out favourite for the Feed Punchers was the crispy deep fried cauliflower pakoras, which were golden and perfectly crispy. They were well paired with the tzatziki mint like sauce and the chilli chutney. Overall, there was a great variety of fresh-vegetarian food in a buffet style. The perfect way to get a feed right before watching a movie. Thankyou Govindas!

Edit: best and only great veg food in sydney (out of most famous ones on happycow, went to about 15 places) Great tasting buffet. 28$ for dinner buffet. 5 or so good to great tasting well thought out mains, a curry, amazing and scrumptious fried cauliflower and potato fries of good quality, and the best salads! I saw the quality of the ingredients when I tasted the salad. The vinegar was of good quality and made the whole experience better! I've traveled around europe and ate many many vegan buffets, but this one is by far much much better quality of food, and tastes better because of better attention to flavor, ingredients, and customer experience. Most of the food was seasoned perfectly and felt balanced. It was a great foodie experience! By the way, I disliked all the vegan food I ate this week in sydney if I include quality and taste, but this restaurant is the hope for sydney quality vegan food for middle-class people! As they say in the land down under, top food! Will return on later trips. Great service from reception and kitchen staff! I am an extreme critic, and if I say it's good, it's probably good for most. I extremely recommend this to people who like all kinds of food, including salads. If you like fried, Indian, cooked veggies, salads, and carbs, you will love this place. Only one main with dairy. They make their food fresh, you can obviously feel it from the home quality food, it's really good! Thanks to the staff!! Not overpriced and price to ratio for desserts is surprisingly honest and good! Compared to shift eatery, food is much better price and of a higher quality experience! Great moody interior for dates and high quality feel. Top restaurant and staff!

Was always great but now that the food is kept hot it is even better. Tasty, fresh dishes. Then take your shoes off and lay on the cushions and watch a movie. Take a blanket as can be a bit chilly. Great date night. Great value.

Very casual with a good atmosphere. A vegetarian heaven. The food is homely and very tasty. Buffet style. Parking can be quite difficult. It is not suitable for people with mobility issues as there are two (2) flights of stairs which are quite challenging. Worth a visit.
Emma — Google review
Not a massive selection because the focus is on ensuring that the buffet is good quality and the food is fresh. Everything I had was delicious. Take small portions at a time and eat until elegantly satisfied. Will definitely be back.
Russell B — Google review
Not great but not bad. Staff are constantly zipping around the tight dining area. Westernised take on the Indian dishes on offer with the rest of the buffet being a pasta bake which you'll need the cheese top layer when taking your serving to have any flavour. Dining areas could be better illuminated. Those seeking a menu which doesn't contain onion and garlic (religious reasons) and is pure vegetarian and somewhat vegan have this as a safe option.
Sunny S — Google review
The restaurant is completely vegetarian, The food is not good and there are very few curries to select, even though they themselves called it a buffet. No drinks included, or any desserts. Only a few selections of curries. At first, once I go to the buffet area, I am confused as to how this can be a proper buffet and I am searching for some other area, maybe they kept the rest of the food there hhh, nothing, so bad and the food is also not very good. Service is average. Then went to the film area, we can lay down and watch the movies, find nothing to complain, if you are with your partner, you can cuddle and have an intimate time.

Guzman y Gomez - World Square is a vibrant counter-service eatery that brings the flavors of Mexico to Australia, making it a go-to spot for taco and burrito lovers. With its eye-catching yellow branding, this lively establishment offers an array of fresh fillings like pulled pork, slow-cooked beef, guacamole, and pico de gallo. The atmosphere is welcoming with friendly staff eager to serve you delicious meals.
I’ve had the breakfast burrito three times now, and I can honestly say I’m hooked—it’s absolutely delicious every single time! The flavors are spot on, the portion is generous, and it always tastes fresh. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. On top of that, the prices are very reasonable for the quality of food you get. Definitely one of my new favorite spots—I’ll be coming back again and again!

Review for Guzman y Gomez - World Square, Sydney Guzman y Gomez at World Square is an okay spot if you're looking for a quick Mexican meal from a chain restaurant. It's a casual place, but during my visit, the dining area and especially the sauces bar were a bit messy and not very clean, which was disappointing. I tried the tacos — they had good flavor, but they were overloaded with coleslaw, which made them feel far from authentic Mexican tacos. If you’re expecting traditional street-style tacos, this might not fully hit the mark. That said, I won't deny that the flavors themselves were actually pretty good, and the portions were generous. Overall, it's fine for a fast, casual bite if you’re not too picky. Just be prepared for some inconsistencies in cleanliness and authenticity.

Had quick dinner in Sunday with some people. We ordered beef (minced) buritto and salads My burrito, i think they put to much rice. I prefer less rice. The area was not that clean.
Ayda S — Google review
I placed a late-night order online, well before closing time. I got the burrito bowls, which I’ve had before, but this time the portion size and quantity were noticeably smaller and I only got 3 nacho chips (actually so sad) —definitely below average and not worth the price. I understand that food might not be as warm when ordering online, which is fine, but the chips were actually cold—like straight-up frozen cold. I expect to reheat my food a little, but this felt like I should’ve just made fries myself. On a positive note, the flavor and spice level were still good. I know this might come of as a Karen, but sometimes you just want something convenient to end the day, and this really missed the mark.
H — Google review
They call this quesadilla the "Plus" but as you can see in the pic it's minus a whole lot of chicken. Bought this for dinner last night. The screen displaying which orders are being prepared is inaccurate. Also, it should say which orders are Ready for Pick up. Service here is very variable depending on which staff are on. Earlier this year, a staff member charged me extra when I ordered a burrito with coriander, red onion and pickled jalapenos. He said that if I want the staff to put it inside I have to pay $0.60 extra otherwise I gotta do it myself at the self service bar for no extra charge. The whole point of asking for the staff to add it is so the ingredients are INSIDE the burrito. I told him I've been ordering GYG for years and this has never been the policy. He disagreed and finally he begrudgingly said he'd"refund me this one time".
Elissa M — Google review
The service was so bad, the lady that was taking the order was so rude. This is the first time Im ordering, so I didnt know anything about the fillings, and she was like just keep repeating, “yea, what filling? Yeaa, but with what filling?” seriously?? She could have just pointed nicely to the board and let me know the options.. and then she was asking about the spicy level, and I told her I want “just a little bit” and she again ask me with annoying tone, “Spicy or Mild?” I think my answer is quite obvious😒.. Probably because she’s having her menopause??? But service is real sucks.. I got her name btw, it’s “Jessica” as you can see from the label in the picture I attached.
Veronica G — Google review
Worst service at the world square gyg, the lady taking orders had so much attitude that she should leave at home. Looking me and my friend up and down constantly and giving rude answers when trying to order, she proceeded to charge us the amount for a burrito with everything and brisket and a quesadilla plus that has everything but once we picked up our food it was un toasted with tomato sauce and cheese , no meat, no guacamole, only 1 quesadilla when you should get 2 and the burrito just beans. I took it back up and told her I didn’t pay for this and Im happy to pay for a new one with everything inside she rolled her eyes and charged me $3, opend up my quesadilla and started to put guacamole inside when I just asked for a new one. idk what’s so hard to understand???? I’m paying you twice and u still can’t do your job…we ended up leaving after I payed again. her name was Jessica Someone needs to fix her attitude problem or send her home because you’re not doing a good job sis pack it up.

I visited GYG 👎🏻with my friend and ordered Nacho Fries. We were given a number and asked to wait. After waiting for more than half an hour, we kept checking at the counter, but each time the staff gave us a different excuse – first they said the order was being prepared, then later they claimed it hadn’t gone through the system, and after that they said there was a mistake. Finally, they told us either to take a refund or wait again because the veggies weren’t even cut yet. It was very disappointing – especially since this was a dine-in order. We wasted a lot of time and still didn’t receive our food. Extremely poor service and no clear communication.👎🏻

One of our favourite restaurants in Sydney! Upmarket Mexican restaurant with flavours we had never tried before and this place seemed super popular too with the locals. Quinn was our server and she was fantastic. So warm, friendly and attentive - she took care of us very well on our visit 🤍 I loved the margarita tasting flight too but it would be even better if it was served cold as some of them were a bit lukewarm. Everything we ordered was so tasty but my fav was the melon sorbet which tasted like coconut ice cream!! Such a delicious dairy-free dessert 🍨 will definitely be back if we’re ever in Sydney! The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, right there the minute your drink runs out for a refill, you never have to ask - your meal is the same, as one dish is finished off, the next one is replacing it already. The service was seamless and perfect. I would go back for the Mexican Shrimp Cocktail tostada alone! It is so fresh and perfect on a hot day. We also both really loved the chicken tacos. Atmosphere was great, lots of indoor and outdoor seating with decent aircon. We will definitely be back.. I need that Mexican Shrimp Cocktail Tostada....

*** Highlights: This place is BUZZING ! Generous portions, great place and atmosphere! Really nice decor, tables and interior are well put together *** What we liked: $129 signature banquet, delicious guacamole, crispy potatoes, meat well cooked & they have an astonishing 245 tequila menu! *** Recommended? The tacos were awesome, the seafood not so much, the sauce overpowered the scallop and oysters’ margarita, well you taste the margarita more than the oysters. Definitely recommended!

I had dinner with some friends in this lovely restaurant overlooking the waterfront at Darling Harbour (Kings Wharf). Service was exceptional with friendly, attentive & efficient staff taking care of us in a group of 4 dining, without being intrusive at any stage. Atmosphere was great with the location & decor/ambience of the restaurant. It was quite busy but this didn’t affect the standard of service. Food was very nice, in particular the beef tacos. Cocktails were very good too. It’s not cheap but you get what you pay for in terms of quality of food and the location. Definitely worth a visit.

Bondi Rumba is a vibrant Mexican beach shack in the suburbs, offering a variety of delicious street eats and cocktails. The colorful decor and lively music create a cozy and inviting atmosphere for families or late-night outings. Their menu features classic Mexican dishes like tacos, burritos, and quesadillas, with playful names such as Speedy Gonzales and Taco de Chorizo y Papa. The restaurant also offers gluten-free options and a kids' menu.
Entered this bar by chance, and no regrets. The drinks were absolutely delicious. The Tacos- OMG. The beef especially- amazing! Adrian was very welcoming and friendly and truly made the best Margaritas in Bondi! A must visit.

We had good service but unfortunately food was average (but definitely still edible!). Being frank, it tasted like home cooked Mexican (in a bad way). Rice had big clumps and chicken was quite dry and wasn’t very hot. Spot itself was funky and good people watching at the bar.

I recently celebrated my birthday at Rumba, and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience! From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. They ensured that every detail was perfect, making the celebration truly special. We had a shared plate menu, each dish was wonderful. Everyone enjoyed the variety, the cocktails were all great! The organization and ambiance were top-notch, creating a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere. It's clear that Rumba takes pride in providing the best service. Adrian made everything so easy for me to organise. Thank you to everyone at Rumba for making my birthday unforgettable. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to organise an event.

Good vibes, friendly service, the tacos and margarita (coconut) are such a treat after a long day in the sun. Only little downside is the outside seating is a little uncomfortable. Thanks guys!

Went for Valentines day and the atmosphere was great, but we waited ages for drinks to arrive, then the food went to the wrong table so we decided to grab it ourselves as the table was next to ours. The waitress forgot to bring us water and my partners drink. We then got charged full price when it was advertised as taco Tuesday so a discount should have been applied to the bill. The waitress then took forever to give us a refund. It was Valentines day so might have been busier than usual or they were understaffed but unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to the other more positive reviews listed on here.

Vandal Taqueria in Sydney offers a unique dining experience with an industrial-style setting and a Mexican-inspired vegetarian menu. The venue is known for its creative and flavorful dishes, best enjoyed with one hand holding a delicious margarita. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the staff efficiently accommodates guests, communicating any unavailable menu items and promptly taking orders. The gourmet vegan tacos, cheeseburger spring rolls, and empanadas are highlighted as must-try items on the menu.
The food here is top quality, fresh and the flavours are awesome. I was very impressed by their duck tacos - it tastes like real duck and the texture was on point! The set menu is also great value. Definitely lived up to the hype.

Best food ever! We had the set menu and it was incredible. I'm gluten free and the team knew to ask if I can share a fryer (I can't) and made little modifications to suit my sensitivity. The food was so delicious and was served at the ideal pace. Enough time for us to finish each course, have a little rest between dishes and then go again! We are definitely coming back!
Ellen B — Google review
I’ve been to this place a couple of times, and I still can’t believe it’s a vegan restaurant! The set menu takes you on an incredible flavor journey. You start with a delicious guacamole and chips, and from there, it’s a nonstop buzz of amazing tastes! For $39, you get six dishes, which I think is a great deal. Everything we tried was fantastic. We also enjoyed a bottle of Cabernet Malbec, which paired perfectly with the mildly spicy Mexican-inspired flavors. If you haven’t been here yet, I definitely recommend it—10 out of 10! Just make sure to book a reservation because it’s usually very busy. Also, note that they’re open for dinner only.

As a vegan of 9 years I can confidently say this is literally the greatest vegan food I’ve eaten. The service was amazing, the waiters were lovely and knowledgeable and the food was incredible. We had the set menu and churros for dessert. I’m not normally a mock meat lover but Vandal sold me! It was so cosy sitting in the warm outdoor patio area on a cooler evening. Wish I didn’t live in Melbourne because I would be here all the time! 10/10!

Wow. Just wow. A co-worker kept recommending Vandal, and to be honest, I wasn’t sure at first; a vegetarian/vegan restaurant? But she wouldn’t let it go, and one of my best mates has been vegetarian his whole life, so I figured… why not finally go somewhere truly accommodating for him? We booked in on a Tuesday and ended up getting the $39 set menu (amazing value, by the way), which also happened to be $4 Taco Tuesday, double win! We’re both pretty indecisive so the set menu made it easy, and every single dish seriously exceeded expectations. It’s wild how well Vandal recreates the meat-eating experience using 100% vegan and vegetarian ingredients. We were cracking up at the table because my mate kept asking, “Is this what tuna tastes like? Is this what duck tastes like? I need to give meat a go” and honestly… yes. It’s pretty spot on. The tuna dish, new birria, and duck taco were standout highlights. The corn wasn’t really for us, but everything else? Absolutely stellar. On top of the amazing food, the service was genuinely great, friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. Vandal is definitely well-deserving of 5 stars. They know exactly what they’re doing, and I’ll definitely be back (even as a meat eater)!

incredible food here! been meaning to try vandal for a while now and so glad i finally did. the set menu is great value, and all of the dishes really complement each other. highlight was definitely the chicken taco - it was amazing! the atmosphere is ok, we went at lunch and it was quiet + we were seated outside which isnt as nice as indoors. service was very quick and the waitstaff were helpful. definitely recommend!

Tian Ci Vegan, located in West Ryde just outside Sydney, is a no-frills dumpling spot known for its great value and top-notch dim sum. The restaurant offers a meat-free menu that appeals to vegetarians while also impressing meat lovers with its flavorful dishes. The establishment's quick service and attentive staff contribute to the overall dining experience.
First class vegan Chinese food. Fresh veggies and healthy dishes. Fast efficient and extremely nice service with free fruit and water. This place is very highly recommended I've been going here for more than 3 years. Also the menu at Tian ci vegan is a masterpiece and such affordable prices that its actually impressive. It offers a diverse range of flavorful vegan dishes that will send your taste buds to heaven at the speed of light.

My partner and I are regulars at Tian Ci. The food is extremely tasty with huge portions, they are quick, very affordable and the customer service is always wonderful. We come here once a week! By the way - I'm far from vegan but I still adore the food here.
Callum F — Google review
Ordered for delivery, and not only was it incredibly quick but it was piping hot and fresh when it arrived! The peking duck for the duck pancakes was so good, I had to triple check their website to make sure I hadn't accidentally ordered the real thing. The portion sizes are huge for the price you pay & it was so incredible to be able to try foods that I never tried before I became vegetarian, that I have always wanted to! Also it was such a joy to open my delivery bag and see that they had also given me a lovely large orange alongside my ordered food. Such a small thing but it was a really kind personal touch that made me smile! I will be recommending Tian Ci Vegan to anyone that visits/lives in Sydney & I will definitely be coming here again before the end of my trip!

It's not a flash looking place, but delicious. Huge range of vegan menu options, reasonably priced and friendly staff. I went for takeaway and had the deep fried mushrooms, which were crispy and super yum. Will be back!

Such an amazing find! All dishes are vegan and are very tasty. The portion sizes are plentiful and the staff are so friendly. I will definitely come back and try some other dishes. We got the peking "duck", san choy bow and the fried noodles. All great! I recommend making a booking as it gets quite busy. They also give you a few complimentary prawn crackers and some fruit and the end.

Amazing vegan restaurant, highly recommend. The staff are SO pleasant and welcoming, everything is clean and the mock meats are great. Loved the Mongolian lamb in particular (but got too excited to take a picture) The satay chicken skewers were also great!

I normally am not one to leave reviews, but I just had to for Tian Ci! This is my new favourite restaurant. Since becoming vego I had missed Chinese food so much until I found Tian Ci! The customer service is fantastic, the staff are so friendly. We have been twice now and had it delivered once as well. The lemon 'chicken' is my absolute favourite food, I highly recommend it. Everything we have tried has been delicious and we can't wait to come back and try more. Definitely some of the best mock meats I have tried.

We heard of this vegan restaurant from another friend and decided to do a takeaway for dinner... We ordered for dumplings, Abalone with sea cucumber and mushroom with veggies, deep fried Chinese mushrooms with soy sauce, lamb in Mongolian sauce and Singapore noodles.. very good quality-quantity-taste! the staff is so warm, welcoming and courteous even though we were the last order of the day! :)

Nu'u by Nativo is a charming two-storey Mexican restaurant and mezcal bar located on Glebe Point Road. The restaurant offers standout southern Mexican cuisine, brought to Sydney by the Oaxaca-born team behind Nativo in Pyrmont. Led by Michelin-trained chef Manuel Diaz and agave expert Diana Farrera, Nu'u provides a homely atmosphere with friendly service.
I tried the $64 5 course menu here and I found it pretty worth it. It also includes 2 margaritas per person. The guacamole was fresh, the tacos of the week was pretty tasty with very tender beef. I found the flank steak slightly on a chewy side but otherwise the braised potatoes was so good. The caramel flan for dessert was a perfect portion and it was loaded with caramel. The staff are lovely here, will be back.

best Mexican restaurant so far in Sydney. The handmade tortillas are amazing. Great level of complexity, details and quality of the moles and all the components of the dishes. Slightly on the salty side for some of the guacamoles but that could be personal preference. overall excellent!

Great place, just not your "traditional Mexican restaurant. This is actually what a real "modern Mexican restaurant with a twist" would look like in Mexico city. The food is very authentic but with a modern interpretation. Everything is done with care and attention to detail. Definitely recommend.

Food was absolutely delicious, I would go there again anytime. We ordered five dishes for 2 people, because the individual portions are quite small - just a heads up if you are wondering if one dish per person is enough - it’s not. Service was great, attentive, and overall our experience was excellent.
Eva Z — Google review
We walked in on a Thursday night and were lucky to find a table available. We ordered three different dishes to share, and each one brought something special to the table. The standout for me was the birria taco, topped with crispy pork belly—unexpected and absolutely delicious! Next, we tried the tamal, which was soft, flavorful, and very satisfying. We ended with the enmolada, and I’m still salivating thinking about it. Although they were out of the usual chicken filling, they improvised with another protein that worked incredibly well. If you love mole, or have been curious to try it, this is the place to go. Trust me, you’ll thank me later. And for drinks, I had the hibiscus mezcalina, and my friend had the tamarind one. The hibiscus was perfectly balanced 👌🏻 just the right amount of sweetness, alcohol, and no bitterness. The tamarind version had a spicy twist at the end, which was really interesting too. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the service was great. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this place!

Cozy and intimate spot for weeknight casual dining! Food was delicious and flavourful. My favourite was the birria taco - really liked the texture of the freshly made tortillas. Even though the topping was saucy, it didn’t soak through. The enfrijolada and lamb rump was very enjoyable as well. Each dish has a distinct flavour and texture and we had a lot of fun dining here. Only point was the fried tortilla accompanying the fish and octopus was slightly too greasy for me, but other than that I will definitely considering coming back for more tacos!
Hayley L — Google review
Went here with my husband for our anniversary and had a fantastic dinner. The pork and birria tacos were a highlight, really great flavours. The pork tacos were the weekly special, the chicharon just added the perfect pops of flavour. We also ordered the market fish aguachile which was delicious, the only improvement is that the fried tortilla that came with it could be crisper. Forgot to take a photo of the potato side dish but that was also great. I also highly recommend their margs, the double double and Diablo margs were delicious. We’re definitely coming back!
Carla F — Google review
This is hands down the most authentic Mexican food we’ve had in Sydney! My best friend and I travelled through Mexico (including Oaxaca) in 2018, and ever since then we’ve been on the hunt for food that brings us back to those memories. This lovely family-run restaurant from Oaxaca has absolutely nailed it! Every bite reminded us of being back there. We ordered the birria tacos, tacos of the week (lamb), the potatoes, and the beef steak. Everything was beautifully plated, perfectly seasoned with rich Mexican chilies and spices, and full of flavour. The standout for us was definitely the birria tacos, it was so good that we ordered a second plate! Warm, welcoming service paired with incredible authentic food makes this place a true gem. We’ll definitely be back again and again.

Checho's Penrith, a contemporary Mexican restaurant that opened in 2020, offers a breezy and chic aesthetic with vibrant flavors. The menu features an array of delicious options such as crispy fish tacos, fried chicken, and corn with special sauce. The restaurant is known for its amazing service and is suitable for both kids and adults. With its fun vibe and great food and drinks, Checho's has become a favorite among locals.
Perfect place for late night tacos, drinks and dessert! The place wasn't too busy, staff were quick and attentive. The vibe of the place was chilled and comortable especially in the cold weather with the pillows on the benches we were seated at. The tables were close to each other but we didn't mind as there were only a few others with us. Our food and drinks came in a timely manner. We had ordered: 🌽Corn Ribs- these were amazing with the spice and sauce and soooo addictive, we ended up ordering another plate of these because sooo good! 🥔- Patatas bravas- these little roasted potatoes were the best! Perfectly cooked and not too heavy with the tacos we had ordered! 🌮 Tacos (soft- shell crab, chicken & fish) - these were amazing aswell, they were soft tortillas with the perfect crunch of protein. The Salads and sauces that had also come with the tacos were so tasty. Literally messy goodness! 🍪 Cookie Dough- we had finished with cookie dough baked in an iron skillet with ice cream. It looked a little extra brown and over done but when we ate, it was perfectly done with lots of gooyness, it was nice and hot but cooled down to an appropriate temperature with the ice cream. It wasn't too sweet or heavy either perfect for the cold weather..sooo good! 🍸 Blue Azul / Pink Panther Margarita- we tried their signature cocktails which were really nice and fruity and not too sweet!

We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner at Checho’s, enjoying their set menu. The ambience was lively and vibrant, though the music was a bit too loud, giving a nightclub vibe that made conversation challenging at times. The food was fantastic! The Wagyu Scotch Fillet and the Kingfish Aguachile were the standout dishes of the evening. Both desserts were absolutely delicious, and the cocktails were also top-notch. The service was friendly and attentive, but it was clear the staff were under a lot of pressure. Some of our meals arrived incomplete, and tables seated after us were served earlier. That said, the team was quick to resolve any issues, which we appreciated. Overall, despite some minor hiccups, it was a great experience. We’re looking forward to returning to try their à la carte menu!

My husband brought me here for my birthday, the cocktails were immaculate. I enjoyed the flavours, nothing like I’ve had anywhere in Sydney. However, the tables were SO close together. It was like having dinner with strangers. Felt bazaar. The food was good, the fried chicken is a little dry so I would not recommend. But overall it was lovely I would recommend trying it out.

This place was great 👍🏼 the fit out was so beautiful and vibrant. Was so cute to bring the kids too and the food was delicious 🤤. I wouldn't order the calamari again but the rest was 👌🏼Definitely not a big menu but we tried most items and found the price of the dishes absolutely fine. We walked out with two adults and 2 hungry kids at $240 including churros to take away and eat home. We definitely have to pay more at a sushi train so we were pretty happy with this and the service was beautiful. The lady today was on point and always attentive - well done!
J M — Google review
Oh, Chechos, what has happened to you? This used to be a favourite dining destination but we won’t be back after tonight. The quality is just not there. The oysters were delicious, but other dishes were not. Patatas bravas were soggy -tasted like microwave boiled potatoes. We returned them asking for crispy potatoes, the second batch was exactly the same but had the addition of hair in the food. Disgusting. The ribs- sauce was nice but the meat tasted microwaved. The food was not hot, just lukewarm, and came out too fast to have been cooked without a microwave. The tacos were gross. Brisket was so dry it tasted like jerky. Soft shell crab was undercooked, floury and a giant blob that made it impossible to eat in a taco. The 3.5% surcharge is a bit steep for an already pricey venue. Service was bad. We asked three times for table water and got some after others were seated and given water. Our drinks were nice but $24 for a cocktail served in a basic glass with no garnish is ridiculous. The music was so loud we had to shout to hear each other. Not really any apology about the bad food or receptiveness to any feedback. We were in and out in 35 minutes and $200 poorer. Worst birthday dinner ever. Save your money and go elsewhere. $200 can buy a lot of microwaveable food from Coles that doesn’t have hair in it. This place is a con. They are only interested in turning over seats as fast as they can.
Michelle Y — Google review
We dined in for lunch and dinner and enjoyed a range of delicious dishes and drinks. The live music (acoustic set) was particularly memorable. Drink highlights include the Chechos Classic Margarita and mocktails (esp. Yram’s Spritz). Food favs are the tasty Spiced Corn Ribs, the zingy Kingfish Aguachile, the smoky Chicharron (crispy pork belly), the crispy Soft Shell Crab and Fish Tacos, the succulent Pulled Pork Carnitas Tacos, and the Sticky Slow Cooked Lamb Ribs. The waitstaff can be a bit hit and miss depending on the day / time of your visit. The evenings can get packed and slow, so recommend booking, choosing an early time, and ordering as soon as you arrive to avoid long waits. Great spot and will definitely return again.
Beverley M — Google review
Have been to Chechos three times now and can say with confidence the only detractor to the restaurant is its popularity! It can be busy and loud on a full Sunday brunch! The food options are full of flavour, and there's so many pickled onions and tonnes of Tajin that your tastebuds will want for nothing. The cocktail menu also shines as all the flavours are light, refreshing and when paired with some Tajin provides a great mix of sweet and sour flavours for your pallette. The venue is bright and colourful with a good thrum of house music blasting through the speakers and a loud happy ambiance that can only be created by diners enjoying their lives. Finally, the staff have been very polite and accommodating every time we've spoken to them, and always strove to ensure we enjoyed our experience there. If you're in Penrith and crave something different, come spend $43 on some Pulled Pork & Beef Brisket tacos paired with their Mango Caliente cocktail. You won't be disappointed.

We had a great experience at Checos! While the vegetarian options were a bit limited, the dishes we tried were absolutely delicious. The Tamaleria & Mexican Deli, located on Marrickville Road, is the brainchild of Rosa Cienfuegos, who hails from Mexico City. Initially facing a scarcity of authentic Mexican food in Australia, she has now established a popular spot for Mexican cuisine enthusiasts. The deli offers hand-made tacos and tamales with various fillings such as pork, chicken, brisket, chorizo, and vegan options.
Hands down the best Mexican food in Sydney! Always fresco, full of flavour, and served with a smile. You can feel the love in every dish. Highly recommend! 🌮🔥

I’ve never been to Mexico but this place seems authentic. The tacos were nice and flavourful, but we still added good amount of salsa to make them spicy. I’ve never had a tamal before yesterday so can’t really tell if it was not that great or just not too much to my liking. All in all I would come again to try more things like the chicken mole and enchiladas

Went with a couple of friends and really enjoyed it. The food felt authentic and we got to try a few new things. The pastor tacos were a highlight, and the chilaquiles were rich and delicous without being heavy. A pretty relaxed vibe, you can tell the team cares about what they serve. Can see this becoming a regular now :)

One of the few places in Sydney you can get a good tamale. Tacos were good and really holdable, the corn tortillas were really soft and has a good corn taste. My first time having horchata as well, was refreshing and delicious. Not the cheapest but it really reflects the quality of the food.

It's the little hole in the wall places that are often the best. Have driven past for ages and recently finally had a chance to stop for dinner here. Fantastic authentic Mexican food. We'll definitely be back to try more off the menu! Highly recommend. We had a variety of tacos and nachos for our first visit and can't wait to try more!

We found about Tamaleria couple years back and straight away become out “to go” place for Mexican food. Everything is authentic and you find food and dishes that are not only made with genuine ingredients (such as Mexican corn with a distinct flavour of heirloom variety) but other things such as fresh made salsa verde with tomatillos that are not always available at other venues with Mexican cuisine. On top of great food and great service there is live music every Friday (make sure you book in advance as you may miss out). Last Friday was an amazing duo from Colombia (father and son) playing beautiful guitar songs. Love the place and highly recommended.

Nestled in Pyrmont, Nativo Mexican is a charming little eatery that packs a punch with its vibrant flavors. With just 14 outdoor seats, it’s an ideal spot for families seeking a quick bite rather than a leisurely meal. The menu features affordable options, like kid-friendly quesadillas and more adventurous dishes crafted by Chef Manuel Diaz, who hails from Oaxaca.
Traveled across the bridge to try the foods for myself and it was worth it. Ordered the octopus taco and chicken quesadillas and loved them. The flavours were spot on for me. Refined and full of flavours. Worth the $9 per taco price.
Razel N — Google review
What a great little find. Food was so delicious. We tried chicken taco cups, beef quesadilla and pork nativos and my favourite would be the beef quesadilla. Lovely staff who were helpful explaining the menu items. The only thing I think was missing were Tabasco sauces in case you wanted to add more heat. Otherwise, I want to come back to try everything on the menu.
Dao L — Google review
(3.5 stars) Dining at Nu'u by Nativo made me curious about owner-chef Manuel Diaz’s origin story. So I tracked down his initial taqueria, Nativo Mexican Taqueria in Pyrmont. It’s set in a little outdoor plaza over the John Street light rail stop, making it an easy spot to hop off and grab a quick bite to eat. There are separate menus for lunch and dinner, with the later meal—more focused on tacos—eating best. The star of the show is the beef birria ($10) where spicy strands of 12-hour slow cooked beef brisket mingle under a bright tomatillo salsa on a crisp taco. It’s messy but very satisfying. Pork cochinita ($9) sees pork shoulder turned red and acidic with annatto and citrus. It’s very wet and blows out the soft taco casing before I can deliver it into my gob. The chorizo taco ($10) is better with fresh guacamole piled onto a flattened and charred skinless chorizo sitting on a soft thin taco. The latter two tacos benefited from additional house-made and fruity spicy salsa—the beef didn’t need it—available for $1.50 per tub. For a lunch taken at one of just a handful of outdoor tables, you can use the same spicy salsa to dress up quesadillas ($16). Stretchy Oaxaca cheese is teamed with your protein of choice (go the beef) in soft tortilla, which are toasted then served up with a side of guacamole. As the chilaquiles ($10) already come with black beans, throwing in an extra protein will set you back an additional five bucks. The corn chips didn’t have the structural integrity to withstand all the juices generated by the pork, cheesy cream and salsa verde, so this dish was a sloppy mess (it was however tasty). It is probably a bad idea to wear white…
Jackie M — Google review
$9/$10 tacos and it’s decent enough but what’s not okay is serving incomplete dishes when they’re alread expensive for a small bite . Al pastor with no pineapple as it’s a core ingredient and also listed on the menu. The Birria is the same. Even though it lists avocado - only one of the tacos had one tiny piece of avocado. Selling incomplete dishes for full price is taking the Mickey. Check your food when they serve you. Just don’t see myself coming back with this as a first experience.
Hey F — Google review
Asked for extra hot but even though it wasn't, all 3 of their tacos are absolutely delicious with bursts of incredible flavour. I'll be going back again for sure. I've never had a taco with potato cubes but it works very well in the octopus one they have. Authentic Mexican flavours!
Ross F — Google review
Finally, Mexican food, tacos with an actually flavourful punch. This is a real gem since many other Sydney taco joints don't get the flavour levels this intense and delicious. Loved the birria - it's not a trendy messy dip here, but is legitimately better as a topping and inside the shell is where it is allowed to belong, don't be confused by the naysayers who aren't Mexican and don't like that it doesn't conform to what you expect on tiktok (still messy though, but it's a taco). Love the subtle details, saltbush in the salsa for example - it's an Aussie ingredient not used in Mexican as far as I know? Not sure. But you've got to appreciate using the local produce. Beef and pork both slow cooked and punching with flavour, nicely balance salsa, little bits of spice that make a difference without overwhelming you. Tostadas were fried, exceptionally messy to eat but they gave me plenty of napkins to offset that, I think there's spoons on thr counter if you don't want to get too messy. Service was friendly and helpful. Just lovely, exactly what Pyrmont needs. My only concern is the shop is not on the main strip in Pyrmont, hopefully it gets the publicity it needs to overcome that and keep them running in the long term.

Really good tacos!!! The carne asada was very tasty but I think a little over cook!!! What a great chorizo if it's true that is house made congratulations to the chef, the Birria taco also very tasty but I found very messy to eat... maybe less cheese or less Birria sauce should be amaizing!!! The salsa from the tacos I found a bit salty but very tasty The shitaki taco the best!!! The cashier girl was super friendly and the spot its ok for a grab and go meal!!! Nestled on the iconic Finger Wharf, Ovolo Woolloomooloo is a chic boutique hotel that beautifully marries history with modern flair. This upscale retreat boasts sleek rooms and suites adorned in vibrant colors, offering breathtaking views of Sydney's harbor and skyline. Guests can indulge in the hotel's hip restaurant and bar, unwind by the indoor pool, or break a sweat at the gym.
We had a wonderful stay! The staff made our experience extra special – a big thank you to Jordan, Alina, and Shakeeb at reception, and Deepa from the breakfast team. The double deluxe loft suite was spacious with a lovely sunrise view, super comfy bed and pillows, and nice touches like bath salts and quality tea. The building’s architecture and quiet location made it all the more relaxing, with plenty of food delivery options nearby. Extras we loved: Chromecast for music/shows, unlimited barista-made coffee at breakfast, a great pool and gym, and reliable A/C. Would definitely recommend!

This hotel is NOT a 5 star luxury hotel!!!! The furniture in their nicest room, the ultraroo and in the loft suites, are so stained and worn that I would not sit on them. The room was also dirty when we arrived… used silverware on the counter which was sticky. Desk was also sticky from not being cleaned. Floor had hair and dust bunnies all over the first floor of the loft. Carpets are very stained too … dare not to walk around without shoes. On a positive note, bed was comfortable, staff was very helpful and friendly, great location for the art museum and botanical gardens. Breakfast was good but does not change so just be mindful if you have a long stay. This is very high priced for the very worn and dirty accommodations.

We stayed here 25 years ago when it was cutting edge in style. The hotel is now dated but still interesting and welcoming. Most of the reception staff are professional and friendly. We did extend our stay from two nights to four nights in two different rooms which were very comfortable and offered excellent amenities. On the 4th day our room was not serviced and when pointed out to the female receptionist in the evening she was uncharming and unapologetic but a male colleague with a smile and professionalism delivered the requested towels and tea and coffee to the room. We used the jacuzzi and really lovely pool over three days. Unfortunately and uncomfortably the disabled bathroom and shower for the pool area was not cleaned over the three days. The bin was not emptied, there was a large clump of hair in the drain and the toilet seat was dirty underneath. Additionally because the room is designed as a disabled toilet/shower the hooks were so near the floor that towels and bags got soaked and this was not helped by having no shelf. The restaurant and bar, although nicely designed with lots of different seating areas, have no atmosphere. The bar would not serve us happy hour drinks because of the method of our booking - booking.com. This was rather embarrassing as we had a local resident guest with us. However, a very welcome generous gesture is that the bar provides a large bottle of complimentary sparking water to enjoy at the bar or to take to the room. The signage through the hotel is clever and brings a smile to your face.

We were genuinely disappointed with our recent stay at Ovolo Woolloomooloo. This was meant to be a special getaway for our 4 year anniversary and after staying here a few years ago we were expecting a premium experience. Unfortunately it fell far below the standard of a so-called "Small Luxury Hotel". The room was infested with large cockroaches coming from the bathroom. I counted six in one night and one even crawled onto our bed while we were sleeping. We were so uncomfortable that we ended up sleeping on the couch downstairs just to get through the night. This is unacceptable at any hotel, especially one claiming to be luxury. Cleanliness was a major issue. The room was dusty on arrival and had a strong smell of dust and mould. Room service trays were left outside our door for more than 24 hours without being collected. Even simple requests were handled poorly. We asked for fresh towels and it took almost two hours for them to arrive. The hotel itself is very tired and desperately needs refurbishment. The interiors are worn, the rooms are poorly maintained and the once fun and boutique Ovolo atmosphere has completely disappeared. The staff seemed stressed, unorganised and lacked leadership. It was clear the hotel is short staffed and service standards have completely collapsed because of it. The cafe staff were blunt and rude which only made the experience worse. We originally chose this hotel because we stayed here years ago and loved that the mini bar was complimentary and that the hotel was proudly fully vegan. Being vegan this mattered to me. None of that exists anymore and it feels like the hotel is using outdated branding and empty promises to sell rooms without delivering any quality or value. It is also very obvious that the hotel relies heavily on bookings from tourists and people from out of town who are drawn in by the waterfront location and the idea of staying on the harbour. It seems management believes the location alone is enough to justify the price, so there is no effort being put into improvement. We paid 1,200 dollars for a two night stay and it was nowhere near worth the cost. The Duty Manager did refund our final night after we complained at checkout which we appreciated, but it does not change the fact that this was a genuinely bad experience. I work in luxury hospitality and the service, cleanliness and guest experience here do not meet even basic 3 star standards. I will not be recommending this hotel to anyone within my professional or personal network and I will be advising others to avoid it until management takes accountability and completely overhauls the property.
Naomi W — Google review
Hotel looks average from the outside, but don't judge the book by its cover. The inside is meticulous and welcoming. I liked the rooms design and arrangement. The self serve laundry is very helpful if you carried few clothes although only one machine was working. A bit dissapointed as my door key card could not open the gym door. Great location for casual walking in the Botanical Gardens and jogging. I will stay again.
Graham N — Google review
I’ve been staying at Ovolo for several years now and have always loved it, recommending it to friends and family after each visit. Unfortunately, this recent stay was disappointing compared to previous experiences. Pros: • The double deluxe loft suite was spacious with a beautiful sunrise view. • Bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, allowing me to finally get good rest after several sleepless nights. • I appreciated the large bath, bath salts, and quality brand of tea in the room. • The location is quiet, with plenty of Uber Eats options for a relaxed night in. • Chromecast connectivity was great for music and shows. • Buffet breakfast included unlimited barista-made coffee and tea, which was a nice touch. • Air conditioning worked well - gym area available & the pool is fun to go into. Cons: • The minibar and goodie bags; one of the highlights that made this hotel stand out, were no longer included, despite prices not decreasing. (We chose this hotel due to this extra added touch so this was a shock when we got here). • On check-in, I was told an “arrangement of goods” would be delivered to our room (529), but this never arrived. • I had requested a simple card for a celebration in advance, but it was not in the room. Despite being reassured multiple times it’s on its way, it only arrived four hours later after I followed up several times, which spoiled the surprise to my partner. A staff member (Cameron) eventually delivered a card and bottle of wine, kind, but unfortunately not suitable as I am in recovery. • Our quilt had no cover, which felt unhygienic considering this is a hotel and I’m sure many couple have their “fun” activities on these beds. • Shower design was difficult to use, especially for anyone with mobility issues, as you have to climb out of a deep bath. • The pool area shower was very poor, chunks of hair on the floor, the cold tap stopped working after 2 minutes, and I had to finish rinsing in the bathroom to avoid being burnt. • Breakfast food was below average and lukewarm, and unfortunately both my partner and I fell unwell after eating resulting in us being physically sick in the rooms. Overall: Ovolo used to be one of my favourite places to stay, but it feels like many of the small touches and thoughtful services that made it special have been cut, while prices remain the same or higher. Loyal returning customers like myself notice these changes, and it may be time to try somewhere new. The little things matter.
Georgia E — Google review
Good location. Staff were kind and friendly. Breakfast was limited but fresh and sufficed. Unfortunately the room was extremely dusty and left us with unpleasant sleep every night, despite attempt of asking staff to help wipe down vents which was lined in visible dust and could be seen on the tables. For a 5 star hotel and the cost per night, unfortunately it's not worth the stay/ discomfort.
Dora C — Google review
Just wanted to say that we had Jade ant the front desk for our check in and she was outstanding. I don’t know what you’re paying her but she deserves more. Probably the best check in service we have received and we travel a lot. Location is great. Room was clean and functional. Valet parking at $95/day is a bit high. You can park a 5 min walk away for $35/day. Otherwise very worthwhile

Nestled in Gladesville, Dos Senoritas is a vibrant eatery that brings the authentic flavors of Guadalajara, Mexico, right to Sydney. Under the guidance of Chef Domingo Medina, this restaurant offers a delightful array of traditional Mexican dishes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. Known for its rich moles—like the Mole Poblano and Mole Oaxaca—and delicious tamales filled with chicken or beef, Dos Senoritas truly embodies the essence of Mexican cuisine.
Love this Mexican! Portion sizes are huge! Flavours are delicious, meals are very generous. I love the complimentary chips and salsa on arrival, it’s so welcoming. Cocktails are also delicious. We keep coming back cos we love it.

Authentic Mexican made by a very cheery owner. Be careful of the serving sizes however, you don’t want to indulge on too many of the freshly made corn chips if you’re getting a main!! Made for a great leftover meal the next day however.

What can i say? The food is really very good, very fresh and authentic. The portions are generous and the menu choices are sensible as are the prices for what you get. The staff are well trained and react quickly. We were brought corn chips with spicy dip and water almost before we had sat down. We booked hoping a mexican band were going to be playing but the restaurant was fairly full maybe the band will be on next time we go. We all read reviews to judge if we should go somewhere, well im telling you if you enjoy mexican, you will probably love Dos Senoritas. I have a couple of photos but i apoligise for some empty dishes as we couldnt wait. See you there.

Wow, what an experience. This is the best Mexican restaurant we have been to for a while in Sydney. Portion sizes are very generous and price is according to what you get. Decor id also good and the ambiance is great. Service was fast and staff know what they are selling. Ordered the three varieties of 🌮, Cheese Quesadillas, Vegetarian Nachos, and the ground Beef Burrito 🌯. Yummy. Will surely be going back for more authentic Mexican Food. Great job guys 👍

Since arriving to Gladesville I've been a regular to Dos Senoritas and am happy that Domingo and his staff found this location to keep their business not only going but also thriving. Dos Senoritas is a simple but really nice Mexican restaurant. Great location with three distinct eating areas and for those driving, some free parking right in front of the restaurant. Staff is friendly and attentive, and as soon as you're taken to your table they'll bring water and complimentary tacos and salsa. The owner is very personable and you can tell he takes great pride in his business, food and service. The food is simple but in typical mexican manner it has lots of great flavours. Most of the portions are quite big for the average person, so you can either share a meal or take some leftovers with you. It's definitely great value for the money, and on top of that there's a loyalty card that will give you a free meal after each five (although, be mindful that's after each five bills, not necessarily meals. You only get a stamp per table, at least that's been my experience so far). Beautiful yet simple location, good and lots of food for an affordable price, and some of the best customer service around the city. Can't go wrong here!

This is a really good place to come as a group and get a decent feed. The food is really good, and the staff were able to cater for any specific dietary requirements! The portion sizes are quite large, so I had a bit of trouble trying to finish mine. Probably best to share a single meal among two people 😅 We also got a complimentary bowl of tortilla chips and salsa!

Great authentic Mexican! Recommend quesadillas for the toddlers - They were a hit. Amazing salad chips on arrival and such a great vibe. Came for lunch but I image it would be fabulous at night! Small parking lot available!

This restaurant is the best Mexican we’ve had in Australia. Huge portions, authentic taste, fresh and delicious! Owner is a super friendly Mexican native who clearly loves the food of his homeland and it is reflected in the taste! I can TASTE the love! I saw the other comment re corn tacos - they are meant to be crispy as they are pan fried. I alternate and get fish and shrimp street style tacos or the marinated steak tacos every time. I dream of it when I’m not eating it. Utterly delicious. We drive 40 minutes to get to this place and are never disappointed.

Shift Eatery is a trendy vegan eatery located in Surry Hills, Sydney. This minimalist cafe-deli hybrid offers a diverse menu featuring sandwiches, salads, bowls, smoothies, and all-day breakfast options - all 100% plant-based. The deli showcases an array of vegan-friendly items such as meats, cheeses, ice cream, and chocolates.
Really great vegan cafe! I had a sandwich, which had their homemade styled “beef” slices. I also tried and took home some sweet treats, including: the caramel cupcake, caramel millionaire slice, the chocolate muffin, and the blueberry and pear muffin. The muffins were good, slightly dense though. The caramel cupcake and slice were both very sweet! I would come back here to try more savoury dishes. The American male staff member was super friendly and helpful, I didn’t get any interactions with the others but they didn’t come off too friendly as they weren’t smiling, offering water etc.

Wonderful little place. Beautiful food, friendly staff and the cakes! Oh the cakes! You can tell it’s run by vegans cos they know what we miss the most. (Dessert). I wasn’t too hungry so went for a Thai beef salad and a slice of toasted banana bread (both delicious) but I’ll definitely be back to try some of their heartier options.

Immaculate sandwiches and fantastic service! We come here on weekend mornings when the city is super chill. They have indoor and outdoor seatings available. Our personal favourites include the shroom toasties, join the club, smoked tofu, the reuben, and the lamb tzatziki!

Vibrant, vegan cafe. Tucked away in Surry Hills, this spot hums with a lively, modern energy. The banana bread was soft and fragrant, pairing nicely with a smooth latte. Weekends can get hectic, so dropping in during quieter hours makes for a more relaxed experience. Great choice if you’re after a vibrant, plant-based café with plenty of character.

Have loved coming to Shift over the many years however, our last visit inspired me to pen down a review. We're so grateful for I believe the owner? who was there to help my husband and I wheel in our pram and also help us to the bathroom so we could change our baby. Not only is the food absolutely delicious, the service of all the staff and atmosphere is just so fun, welcoming and easy. We love your brilliant work and are appreciative of this welcoming and support vegan space. On another note, HIGHLY recommend the pancakes - oh my lord. It reminds me of the McDonald's hotcakes I used to have when I was young haha. You will eat the whole thing so get a plate per person!!! We also got the club sandwich and bacon and egg bagel. To take away we got a cheeky fudge brownie and caramel slice. Do yourself and favour and get multiple ok?

I came here because gluten-free options were available, and it was a slight detour between my accommodation and Central Station. I had a My Shroom Toastie on gluten-free bread - best vegan toastie I've ever had. Staff were helpful - they took my order - there's QR code and a screen near the entrance where you can order. Comfy seats inside, as well as outdoor seating. Definitely eat here again when I'm next in Sydney.

Delicious vegan food. Love me an all vegan menu. I know times are tough for Vegans as so many all-vegan places are closing so this was a true delight. Had the Reuben, shroom toastie, and egg n bacon bagel. All extra delicious. Coffee and shakes as well as muffins were all great too. The owner was really friendly and the staff was so welcoming and attentive. Wish they existed everywhere I go.

The Café offers vegan options only and all of them are delicious. Over the past two days, we have been here thrice. To try all the menu options and because they were always so tasty!! The staff is really nice and fast, the drinks are freshly made and tasty as well. Interior could be a little bit more cozy, but there is nothing negative to say shiny the food or drinks. I am amazed

Soul Burger in Glebe is a pioneer in the Sydney vegan dining scene, offering an extensive menu with options like plant-based duck, brisket, fish, pork, fried chicken and beef. With multiple locations across Sydney, it has gained well-deserved popularity for its diverse and meaty vegan offerings that closely resemble their non-vegan counterparts. The pulled pork jackfruit burger is particularly renowned. PETA has even recognized Soul Burger as one of the best vegan restaurants in Sydney.
Extremely hearty and full!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Will definitely be coming back!! The serving sizes were generous and the food was made to such a standard that we couldn't possibly tell the difference between this and the non Vegan version. The dishes ordered were the Bacon and Egg Classic and the BBQ snack pack - both were packed with very fresh ingredients and Very plentiful in flavour for both dishes and very filling. Our specific love is the egg which literally looks and tastes like an egg but isn't! Which is quite mind blowing. Adds to every part of the amazing dishes we tried.

Tried their plant based burgers and they taste really good. My partner didnt notice the plant based until I told her and she was really impressed by the taste and got surprised. The menu is fully plant based and the quality is really good. The staff were nice and the place was clean. The only suggestion that i could make is to use the natural plants instead of the artificial ones which not only it improves the atmosphere but also it would be more aligned with plant based menu.
Soroush J — Google review
Not a fan of the schnitty burger. The patty is texturally lacking and the flavour is missing an edge as well. Props for being plant based, but I can’t recommend it in terms of enjoyment. Perhaps the other burgers fare better?

Lots of vegan options - they have vegan burgers, burritos, nachos, bowls , etc!

Loved it. We tried a burger and BBQ mushroom bowl and both were excellent and very reasonably priced. Our meal was $35 for two and that includes a burger, fries and soda, plus a bowl and cookie. Only downside was the cookie for desert - it had a bit too much flour in it but only a minor complaint Loved that they also have a separate menu with Mexican food and kebabs. Will definitely come back.

The menu features influences from Mexican, Spanish, Portuguese, and Cuban cuisines, offering dishes like Baja California crispy fish and Yucatan mushroom tacos.
The best bar in Sydney. The staff really go above and beyond to make sure you feel welcome and have a good experience. The cocktails are delicious and the tequila is great. This is stop #1 when we come back to Sydney!

Small, but perfectly formed, this is a great bar.. Knowledgeable staff, constantly changing menus , brilliant drinks , impeccable service , and given it about cocktails it surprising good value for money It is small so be prepared to queue if you come late , and there really isn’t seating, or its own bathroom.. but small quibbles aside. It’s fantastic

Such a cool atmosphere, the cocktails were amazing, we tried their weekly special and the spicy margaritas - both were delicious. Drinks are about $25 each but worth it. It isn’t very spacious (but thats the whole vibe) so if you are hard of hearing or claustrophobic probably not the best spot! Attached some pictures of the vibes you will get.

If you are a tequila fan, you CAN NOT miss the chance to go check out this unique venue! Right in the heart of the city, 5min walk from Town Hall station, and super tucked away, but be prepared for a line up to get in! Very cute and tiny place, standing only around a little bar, no chairs. The margaritas are INCREDIBLE and they have a rotating seasonal one every week! They also have MEZCAL options 🙏🏻💯 The staff are friendly and it’s definitely one of the greatest experiences I have had here!

Cantina OK! is an absolute gem in the heart of Sydney! Located in such a back alley, hidden from site, you may miss it if you don’t keep your eyes open! It's the perfect spot to unwind after a long day or kickstart a night out. Despite its intimate size, this place packs a punch with its cozy and welcoming atmosphere. But what truly sets Cantina Go apart are the bartenders. They are, without a doubt, the best in the world! Their skill, creativity, and friendly personalities make every visit a memorable experience. I made Cantina Go my daily stop for the week I was in Sydney, and I couldn’t imagine my evenings without dropping by to enjoy the incredible ambiance and outstanding service. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a world class evening out in Sydney.

El Gringos Locos is a fun and vibey Mexican restaurant with an extensive selection of nachos. Their pulled pork quesadilla completely won me over and I fell head over heels in love with it!
Had a great night. Service was great, staff were friendly & helpful. Beautiful flavours, everything cooked nicely. Some of the best jalepeno poppers we've had in a long time. Food was fresh & tasty. Cocktails were lovely. Had such a fun night so Ive just booked my birthday for next month.

Food was good. Totally enjoyed my Pulled Pork Nachos. Husbands tacos were cold on top but still good. Would be good if they gave a double option not just single then triple option as 3 is a lot. They were understaffed and couldn’t make a Long Island Iced Tea at all after they gave us a regular iced tea the replacement took 20mins to arrive and only after having to ask about it.

Great vibe and warm atmosphere. Very inviting place to eat and relax as the background music was set at the perfect level so you were able to hear everyone at the table The service here was splendid. Very up beat, positive and welcoming. Happy to engage in every aspect. Food was amazing and delicious. Portion sizes were quite generous. Very tasty and full of flavour. The meat was tender and very soft. Both the savoury and the sweet dishes passed with a smile. We had some dishes to share amongst the table so we could sample the best of what was on offer. Parking was easy on a Saturday night, as they are located in the outside of Nepean Village. First time coming here. Great overall initial experience. Will defiantly be back. Thank you

El Gringos is decent if you’re in the mood for Mexican food, but don’t set your expectations too high. The food is flavourful but lacks the depth you’d expect from authentic Mexican cuisine. Prices are reasonable, but for the quality, I expected more. The ambiance is casual, which is fine for a quick meal. The service was good.

Service was good and atmosphere was fun and colourful but unfortunately, the food was not great. The place was completely empty for a Friday after work though another table came as we were leaving. Spent $100 for 2x people and left hungry.

Honestly, dinner here was a disaster. We arrived for a work Christmas party dinner on a Friday night and was surprised at how dead it was (red flag number 1) Upon sitting down we went to order drinks and were told “sorry we have no corona’s, we have sent someone to get some but they will be warm” 😂 (red flag 2) Got passed that and ordered something else to drink and went to order the Entrees. A simple Guacamole and chips but were told they were out of avocados so couldn’t do Guacamole (red flag 3) We probably should have left at this point but ordered the chorizo and cheese dip which was horribly bitter and when the mains came out they were left half eaten on our table drenched in oil. I thought I would give it one more go and seen they do standard cocktails on request so I asked for an espresso martini to which I was told “sorry we don’t the bottom part of the cocktails menu anymore…oh and the liquid deserts section is unavailable too 🤦‍♂️ In other words if you’re looking for a good Mexican feed and vibe….this place is not it.

I came here recently for a birthday dinner and we unfortunately experienced very poor service. Which resulted in the final invoice being fixed 3 times due to being charged for items that we didn't order and meals not coming with what was advertised on the menu. Future customers, please be aware that the food quality has dropped significantly since the change of ownership and the value to portion size is very poor. The attached image is the enchiladas that cost 28 dollars. Which is not worth it in my opinion

So amazing! The food is delicious and made right to order. The staff are sooooo kind! I just moved to Sydney and the waitress talked to me for a while and told me about all of the vegan places in the area. Super delicious, healthy and varied flavours of vegetarian Japanese food offered here. I had the onigiri lunch plate and it did not disappoint. The price of both the lunch offerings and doughnuts is quite high, but when the ingredients and cooking craft is this good, it’s understandable why! Will be back ☺️ おいしかった、ありがとう^_^

Fantastic vegan food, however unfortunately due to how popular this place is, of you go later in the afternoon expect them to sell out especially on a weekend. I had the tempura veggie noodle and it was amazing. Iced matcha was exactly how expected it to be. The menu looks so fantastic, I wish I had go there earlier.

Homestyle organic Japanese dishes served in casual cafe with hotel prices. The food was acceptable but had no particular wow factor to it. The price point though was stunning considering the degree of self-service involved. You have to queue to order and pay, get your own cutlery and water. A 10% surcharge applies on weekends as well. While the doughnuts were quite unique and impressive, you can’t help leaving the venue feeling slightly underwhelmed and a little overcharged. To be sure, it is an incredibly popular cafe, but having been there twice (I wanted to give it a second chance), this is not one I would return to.

I could not overstate how lovely this place is - the most authentic veg Japanese I have had outside of Japan, every single dish is a treat! They have balanced their flavours, our favourites were the katsu curry, and the red miso & tempura onigiri plate. The drinks are also amazing, with lovely organic genmaicha and matcha powder which they also sell. Staff were LOVELY, I could not recommend coming here more.

Mexican restaurant
Fonda Mexican Surry Hills is a trendy spot offering modernized street food classics and cocktail jugs. With multiple locations in Melbourne, this restaurant has now arrived at Bondi beach, serving up fresh and uncomplicated Mexican cuisine with a touch of love. The founders aimed to create a welcoming home for the community through their restaurant concept. The menu features crispy prawn tacos, vibrant salads, tostadas, and shared taco boards.
Came in for a date night on Sunday evening with a great deal from Eat Club. We had a great time and we loved the ambiance of this place. We shared a ceviche app, pulled pork quesadilla, and the barbacoa beef burrito. I loved the ceviche - super flavorful and I wish it was a little bigger for what it’s priced at. It really whet our (mostly mine) appetites. I felt a little let down by the burrito and the quesadilla. They were both fine, nothing amazing. Overall: great ambiance, good food, and friendly service!

We had an amazing time at bottomless brunch and thank you Lucy for being so attentive 💕 All of the drinks were great, with real fruit juice being used - this one was a surprise with the watermelon as a friend didn't like artificial watermelon, so she was happy to be able to have it. The food was fantastic!! Im not a huge mexican food fan, but the nachos and quesadillas were 😍 Will definitely be back!!

I went to Fronda with a couple of my girlfriends. We shared a few dishes and got some cocktails! The drinks were really nice, I had the blood orange marg - really good. And the food was incredible! Especially the zucchini wedges (INSANE) definitely will be back again.

We came in on a wednesday evening, no rush which was good. We ordered starters which were amazing and a solid 5/5 i also attached a photo of some of the starters we got. We also ordered mains which weren’t bad but as vegetarians the pulled shitake mushrooms did not taste fresh at all and sometimes was packed too much in the tacos we ordered. Otherwise, a fairly good place to eat but in mains vegetarians could go to other places than this.

we got the feed me combo for two people with a eat club deal. there was too much food for the both of us we were completely stuffed after our meal. thought the quesadillas were the best a bit of a shame it came last tho because we were so full. drinks were quite nice too
Sandy P — Google review
The nachos was 5/5! The interior is nice but something about the lighting was off! We went at 4.30pm and they didn't have many lights on and it was just weird! They were also quite pedantic about letting us pick a table as we didn't have a reservation but the restaurant was literally more than half empty the whole time we were there! And they didn't have 2/3 white wines on their menu in stock!

Great food, everything we tried here so far was delicious. I especially love pork and pineapple quesadillas, spicy corn and sweet potatoes. They also have amazing souses both salsa , guacamole and aioli ❤️

Mexican restaurant
Smoking Gringos, a Mexican eatery founded by Richard Borg and Jade Jackson, is known for its viral dish, the quesa taco. This specialty features a three-corn tortilla dipped in marinade and fried, then topped with three types of cheese, coriander, onion, and a choice of beef or chicken. Each order comes with pickled onions, lime, consomme for dipping, and a variety of freshly made in-house salsas.
Absolutely love Smoking Gringos in Blacktown! The food is consistently amazing — packed with flavor, fresh, and always hits the spot. Whether you’re grabbing tacos, burritos, or any of their mouthwatering specials, you can count on it being delicious every single time. What really makes the experience stand out is the incredible service. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and a special shout-out to Nathalia at the counter — she always goes above and beyond with a smile on her face and top-notch customer care. She makes every visit feel special. Highly recommend this place if you’re after great food and even better service!

A solid place for good tacos. Had the gringo pack which comes with all the different types of tacos. The beef was tender and juicy. Was cheesy and a great chew. Really like the nacho chips, they were crunchy and toasty. Also ordered the corn ribs. Well seasoned and toasted really well.

Just wanted to share my experience in just span of few months. They reduced the quantity of their ‘Burrito Bowl’ drastically. Really disappointed, i loved their burrito bowl and was great value for money but today I paid $15 bucks for a barely there ‘meal’. Adding two pictures to indicate the box difference of their burrito bowl. Mad mex and GYG has better quantity than that for 15 bucks. Rip off.

Ordered 3 lots of tacos (2 x gringo packs and 1 x quesa tacos), they were all wrong. Should of checked before leaving the shop. The food was stale, cold and flavourless. Won’t be back again, can’t justify spending over $85 on 9 tacos and 3 drinks and still be hungry afterwards. Very disappointing.

Great customer service, made our first time visiting so lovely. We tried their BYOB nachos as seen all over TikTok. Only $10 I highly recommend!
Ballerina N — Google review
Texas native here, this is the best Mexican/Tex-Mex I’ve had in Australia by a very wide margin. Cant go wrong with the beef tacos or the gringo box. There are perfect flavors in the beef, the varying salsas, and the consommé. The guac has great flavors as well but I wish it had small chunks of tomatoes, onions, and parsley- however it’s not a deal breaker without. I don’t love the spices on the chips, to me I don’t recognize any flavors that I love from traditional Tex Mex chips but adding a bit of lime makes them so so good. I would also order the spiciest salsa they have because to me that would be more mid level spice- I am used to this kind of spice so take my reference with pause if you don’t have a spice insulated mouth like me. Pro tip: Watermelon Jarritos tastes like Jolly Ranchers. This place puts GyG and Lone Star to shame, those locations have no excuse now because they can try the real thing and know longer peddle their season-less nonsense to the world. I am seeking refuge at the Smoking Gringos, so relieved to find some excellent food from home.
Audrey — Google review
Good taste and service however very overpriced. After paying premium money for the Beef Taco box, it literally had 3-4 Nachos in the box which is disappointing ! Also 3 dollars for a regular sauce that should be included with the meal to begin with considering the meal is 20+ dollars (anywhere else when you pay that kind of money, it comes with decent amount of fries or rice or Nachos etc. with sauce for one person). Sadly will not visit again as did find it worth the value for money against the effort.

Taco restaurant
Calle Rey is a vibrant and innovative plant-based Mexican-Peruvian fusion restaurant and Pisco bar located in Newtown, Sydney. It offers a diverse menu featuring generous portion sizes of Latin American cuisine with a focus on vegetarian and vegan options. The restaurant surprises its guests with an à la carte menu as well as a monthly changing 6-course set tasting menu that is both vegan and gluten-free.
Did the sharing set vegan menu and it didn’t disappoint. Nothing better than a restaurant that has a well balanced vegan and non vegan choices. It makes it so much easier to enjoy without having to worry if my partner can or can’t eat certain things. The cocktails were so tasty too. Made the perfect place to celebrate a year countdown until our wedding.

Excellent location in heart of the city with lot of vegan options. This is the second time for us to visit. Loved the refreshed menu and all dishes we ordered. The restaurant was decked up for Diwali. All the decorations were looking great. We ordered smoked jackfruit chicken tacos, mushroom adobo tacos, smoked chicken nachos. The smoked sauce that came with nachos was really good.

Wow! What an unexpected find, seperate vegan menu with a range of options. Tacos were absolutely delicious, my favourite was the Smoked 'Chicken' Taco but we tasted all of them as they do $5 tacos from Tues-Thurs which is amazing! OH also the ‘Prawn’ Toast was so delicious as an entree. Will absolutely be back. The atmosphere was also gorgeous, stunning fairly lights and beautifully decorated, gave us the perfect cozy feeling to escape the freezing winter weather.

Pleasantly surprised. Mexican Bar/Restaurant with a twist. The main menu was plant based friendly with the other half non-vegan menu. Mainly bar style seating - high table with stools. Friendly chilled staff. Delicious share plates mainly. Would love to try the plant based items next time. Cocktails/Mocktails were all $12 (We went during happy hour)

The (vegan) menu is very creative and fun. Loved the Buffalo Cauliflower and "Prawn" toast in particular! Staff were warm and insightful

Great cocktails, delicious food, friendly and helpful service. Great for negotiating dietary requirements without seeming like a whole "thing". Lots of vegetarian, vegan and dairy free options. But did I already mention delicious? My teenage sons were very impressed (they especially loved the pulled pork nachos)

We had the vegan chicken taco and a strawberry pineapple and coconut cocktail. The taco was very tasy and amazing value at $5 half price on Wednesday. The decor was a fun collection of nik naks and the service very good.

This place has such a great vibe and is really instagrammable. Delicious cocktails, great food including extensive vegan menu and affordable. With $5 tacos on Sunday and $10 sangria, what’s not to love?
