Nature & Parks
Bondi Beach is a renowned Australian beach located just seven kilometers from Sydney's CBD in the Eastern Suburbs. It boasts a wide sandy shoreline, waterfront dining options, and a skate park. The crescent-shaped beach is adorned with golden white sand and surrounded by lush green headlands, creating a picturesque setting. Bondi Beach attracts visitors year-round and gained international fame through the popular TV show 'Bondi Rescue.'
A beautiful beach. The water is really blue and the sand is fine, so you can happily stand for a while and enjoy the shore. I really loved this place. It's a must visit. Bondi fests are held in July at this place. There are many cafes and eat stores nearby. There are open stalls where you can purchase anklets, bands, etc as a memory. It has a garden area, and beach together, where kids can enjoy a lot. There are showers, taps, to clean up from the sand. It's a very good facility for all. It's a pet friendly place. There are also benches installed so elders can also have seating arrangements.

Amazing vibe to Bondi Beach ⛱️ It looks like it gets cleaned up daily. 🗑 A lot of 'Health and Fitness' activities.🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️ A great place to visit get your motivation back if you've lost it 😅 Will definitely be back 🤩
Richard S — Google review
The Undisputed King: Iconic Bondi Beach "Bondi Beach is more than just Sydney's most popular tourist beach—it's the heartbeat of Australian beach culture, all conveniently located just a stone's throw from the city! The golden, sweeping sand and the electric-blue waves are absolutely postcard-perfect. It's the one beach in Sydney where you can instantly feel the energy: the surfers carving up the waves, the famous yellow and red of the 'Bondi Rescue' lifeguards on patrol, and the buzzing crowd that makes you feel like you're right where the action is. What makes it truly special is the incredible atmosphere. It’s the perfect blend of serious surf action, relaxed sunbathing, and world-class people-watching. You can grab a coffee from a trendy cafe right on the promenade, dive into the historic Icebergs pool , or just sit on the sand and soak up the unique, laid-back-but-lively vibe. Since it's so close to the CBD (easily reached by a short bus trip), it’s the ultimate, accessible escape. If you're visiting Sydney and only have time for one beach, make it Bondi. It’s iconic for a reason—it’s an essential, exhilarating taste of the Australian coastal lifestyle. A guaranteed 5-star experience!" #hikingdiarybyabid

It's a fun beach. Waves are a decent size although the current does seem to gain in strength randomly. There's so much to do around the beach though in terms of exploring, with walking paths on both sides. It's also very easy to get to with the 333 bus.

One of our favorite beaches to visit when in Sydney. Great for swimming, surfing, sunbathing, and hiking on the trails around it. Good food spots and fun atmosphere
Derrin H — Google review
Absolutely Beautiful Beach! I believe it does need a bit of TLC or upgrades in the area. Lifeguards are lovely and enjoy the atmosphere ♥️ In very much love with the place. Please continue to look after this beautiful location.
Penny R — Google review
Very kewl! Great people watching! Gets crowded on weekends, but the vibe is young and vibrant. Lots of restaurants. Ate at the Promenade! A nice on the beach upscale restsurant!
Susanne — Google review
Got to be done right? It’s iconic for its surf scene and the Icebergs swimming pool. Plenty of people on the beach and in the water. Was a little surprised that the T4 train didn’t take you closer than Bondi junction so whilst we had anticipated a fair walk I just wonder why the line was never extended. That said it was nice to just sit and people watch.

Beach
Nature & Parks
Manly Beach is a popular and bustling beachfront destination in Sydney, known for its golden sands, pine trees, and excellent surfing opportunities. It consists of three beaches - South Steyne, North Steyne, and Queenscliff - stretching almost two kilometers along the coast. Visitors can take the iconic Manly Ferry from Circular Quay to enjoy stunning views of Sydney's landmarks before arriving at the beach.
We can enjoy this beautiful beach. A calm and serene beach. Very clean and clear. The sand is fine to coarse on this beach. You can find a lot of seagulls here. We find many food courts, cafes, nearby to enjoy the beach and have your food. This beach is a closed one, tides are high, so don't get deep into sea here. The sea pulls us faster into it. So be alert when you are planning to enjoy this beach. Beaches are always a serene space and provide calmness. Should always enjoy it whenever we need grounding for ourselves. And we are confused. These open beaches can transform our thoughts and rejuvenate us, when we keep observing the sea and the surroundings. So enjoy your solitude here or with family. Take a ferry from Circular Quay to Manly in the morning, enjoy the food, surroundings and the beach, return back to Circular Quay during sunset, you will love the transition. Manly wharf is also really beautiful, there are few food spots in it. I recommend you to have this experience once in your life!
Anusha M — Google review
Manly Beach is absolutely stunning! The sand is clean, the water is crystal clear, and the whole area has such a relaxing holiday vibe. It’s perfect for swimming, surfing, or just enjoying a walk along the promenade. There are plenty of cafés, restaurants, and shops nearby, so you can easily spend the whole day here. The ferry ride from Circular Quay to Manly is also a beautiful experience on its own. Truly one of Sydney’s must-visit beaches — highly recommended! 🌊☀️
Mohammad R — Google review
My first trip to an Australian beach was to Manly, and it was amazing! The ferry ride from the city was beautiful, seeing the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge from the water is something I will never forget. When I arrived, I was so impressed. The sand is so soft and white, and the beach is so long and wide. It's different from the beaches in Phuket or Koh Samui; the vibe here is very active, with so many people surfing! The water was a beautiful clear blue, a little chilly for me, but so refreshing. I loved walking along The Corso, grabbing some fish and chips, and just watching everyone enjoy the sun. It felt so relaxing and happy. Manly Beach has a wonderful, laid-back feeling that is the perfect introduction to the famous Australian beach culture. It’s a day trip I would recommend to any of my friends back home in Thailand!
Saranya C — Google review
Beautiful sunny beach, with sand, old big pine tree, rock and small cave. Few mile from Sydney, by ferry with good view during transport. Good choice if you wanna stay away from busy Sydney
Văn N — Google review
One of Sydney’s iconic beaches it was great to visit it during our recent stay. Gee it was busy around both the beach and town area. But that didn’t stop me from venturing in for a little swim and a play in the waves. The waves are huge and I was knocked over twice but that’s part of the fun right. Whilst we sat on the beach we witnessed a surf rescue. Those guys are superb at what they do.
Shaun L — Google review
Offer a perfect mix of laid-back vibes and stunning coastal views, ideal for both surfers and families. The scenic ferry ride from Circular Quay adds to the charm of the experience. Plenty of cafés, shops, and walking paths make it great for a day out.
Chandara C — Google review
A popular beach. There is a cave that can go through. It’s interesting. Also a good place to take lots of photos
李芷萱 — Google review
Manly Beach is one of Sydney’s most iconic seaside escapes, just a 30-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay. The journey itself is already a treat, offering postcard-perfect views of Sydney Harbour, the Opera House, and Harbour Bridge. Once you arrive, Manly greets you with a long stretch of golden sand, rolling waves perfect for surfing, and a lively esplanade lined with cafés, pubs, and shops. Compared to Bondi, Manly feels more laid-back and family-friendly, making it a great spot for a relaxed swim, beach walk, or simply soaking up the coastal atmosphere. If you visit on a weekend, you’ll also find a vibrant market with stalls showcasing local products, handmade crafts, and unique souvenirs — a wonderful way to discover more about Australia in general, and Sydney in particular.

Beach
Bronte Beach, located just a kilometer south of Bondi, is a picturesque city beach with sandy shores and cliffs. It offers swimming in the ocean as well as in the Bronte Baths saltwater pool. The beach is backed by lawns and cliffs, providing a stunning backdrop for picnics and relaxation. Lifeguards are present due to strong rip currents.
Great cliff views, beach with public rock pool and stunning view. Also, lots of green space with pagodas for shade. Good picnic spot for family and friends.
Surinder K — Google review
Bronte Beach is the sweet spot on Sydney’s eastern coast where the ocean feels close and the vibe stays relaxed. The bay sits in a natural bowl, cliffs curling at each end, and the water shifts through blues that look painted on in the morning light. Families spread towels on the grass above the sand, surfers queue for the right peak, and walkers drift past on the coastal path with coffee in hand. It never feels as frantic as its famous neighbour up the road, which makes it easy to slow down and actually hear the waves. Swimming options suit every comfort level. The patrol keeps a careful eye on the flagged area, which matters at Bronte because rips can be punchy on bigger days. If the swell is up, head to the Bronte Baths carved into the southern rock platform for steady laps, or wander to the Bogey Hole where a natural pool fills and empties with the tide. On calmer mornings the main beach can be glassy enough for a long, lazy float, and the water clarity often surprises first timers. Showers along the promenade make rinsing off painless, and the wide steps double as seating while you warm up in the sun. Little touches round out the visit. The park behind the beach has barbecues, shaded tables and plenty of room for kids to run, so you can turn a quick swim into a full morning without much planning. Kiosks along the strip serve proper coffee and hot chips, and there are quieter side streets if you want a picnic away from the wind. Parking is limited on sunny weekends, so arriving early or taking the bus keeps stress down. Bring sunscreen, a hat and rock shoes if you like exploring the edges. Stay for the late light if you can, when the cliffs pick up gold and the crowd thins to locals walking home with sandy feet.
Le G — Google review
Bronte Beach is one of Sydney’s most charming coastal gems, offering a mix of natural beauty, family-friendly spaces, and laid-back vibes. Nestled just south of Bondi and Tamarama, Bronte has a wide stretch of golden sand with rolling waves that attract surfers, yet it still feels more relaxed and less crowded than its famous neighbor. One of the highlights is the natural rock pool and ocean baths, perfect for families and those who want a safe, calm swim while still enjoying the ocean. Just behind the beach, there’s a grassy park with barbecues, picnic tables, and playgrounds, making it a popular spot for weekend gatherings and leisurely afternoons. The atmosphere here is welcoming and balanced — part surf culture, part family retreat, and part scenic escape. With the Bondi to Bronte coastal walk running past, it’s also a favorite stop for walkers and joggers soaking in the dramatic coastal views. Bronte Beach is the kind of place where you can enjoy the best of Sydney’s coastline: waves, views, fresh sea air, and a warm community feel all in one.
Min M — Google review
Fab spot on the coastal walk with plenty of facilities to help you enjoy the beach. Lovely sand and of course the blue ocean.
Shaun L — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | Beautiful Walk & Beach Vibes I walked from Bondi to Bronte Beach and absolutely loved the experience. The coastal walk was stunning, with the sound of waves crashing along the way and breathtaking views throughout. Bronte Beach itself is beautiful — relaxed, scenic, and the perfect reward after the walk. Highly recommend if you’re in Sydney and want to enjoy nature and a bit of a workout 🥵👌🏻👌🏻
Tom D — Google review
Great walk from Bondi to Coogee passing through Bronte. Bronte beach watching the sun rise and set was amazing. Great cafe near by everything you could wish for. I love it there!

Bronte Beach is one of Sydney's most popular beaches ⛱️ for families. It has free BBQ facilities, a ocean pool, the boogie hole and a small natural ocean rock pool,it's gotten a lot busier than last year and a few months ago. Almost impossible to find park!! But if you can get past the parking challenge!!! It's really cool 😎 to see 👀 Bronte Beach ⛱️ busy as this 😀 with everyone having fun 😁 great vibe. Very family friendly spot

Tamarama Beach is a small, picturesque cove with a grassy picnic area, playground, and food options. Despite its proximity to the bustling Bondi Beach, it exudes an air of luxurious seclusion. Referred to as 'Glamorama,' this 80-meter strip of sand attracts sunbathers and surfers alike. The left-hand reef break offers excellent surfing opportunities, drawing some of Sydney's best surfers and bodyboarders.
Beautiful beach, relaxing and quiet. Not as busy as Bondi , good walking track and nice cafe
Missy C — Google review
Tamarama Beach is a hidden gem along Sydney’s coastline, offering a more intimate and laid-back vibe compared to its bigger neighbors, Bondi and Coogee. This small, crescent-shaped beach is tucked between the cliffs, with golden sand and crystal-clear waters that are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or just enjoying the coastal atmosphere. Known for its strong surf, Tamarama is a favorite among surfers, but it’s also great for those looking to relax by the sea. The beach is framed by stunning sandstone cliffs, and its sheltered position makes it a perfect spot to escape the crowds. The Tamarama to Bondi coastal walk offers fantastic cliffside views, and you’ll often see locals and visitors alike stopping to snap photos of the dramatic scenery. Though the beach itself is smaller, there’s no shortage of charm, and it's less crowded than nearby Bondi, making it a great spot for those looking for a quieter beach experience. The park behind the beach offers grassy areas to unwind, and the beach vibe is relaxed and community-oriented. Whether you're into surfing, swimming, or just enjoying a peaceful day at the beach, Tamarama is a must-visit for anyone exploring Sydney’s eastern coastline.
Julio Y — Google review
Tamarama Beach is a stunning, smaller spot with crystal-clear water and dramatic cliffs. Less crowded than Bondi, it’s great for sunbathing and relaxing, though swimming can be rough due to strong currents. A true hidden gem!
Evelyn — Google review
Tamarama Beach is the dramatic little pocket between Bondi and Bronte that always feels a bit wild in the best way. The bay is framed by rocky headlands, the sand sits in a neat crescent, and the water flips between glassy turquoise and energetic whitewater depending on the day. From the steps you can see the whole scene at once, surfers sitting just beyond the break, walkers drifting along the coastal path, and families staking out the stretch of sand closest to the flags. Early mornings are magic here. Soft light on the cliffs, a cooler breeze, and room to wander before the beach wakes up. Swimming takes a touch of awareness because Tamarama is known for punchy rips. Stick to the patrolled area, ask a lifesaver about conditions, and you will have a great time. On calmer days the shorebreak is playful and body surfing is a joy. If the swell is running and you want a gentler dip, it is a short stroll to the ocean pool at Bronte. The grassy park behind the beach is a winner for picnics, with barbecues, benches and space to sprawl while you watch sets fold across the bay. Little conveniences help the day along. Showers line the promenade, the kiosk does proper coffee and cold drinks, and there is usually a shady corner to escape the midday glare if you head up to the lawn. Parking is tight on sunny weekends, so buses or the coastal walk keep stress levels low. Bring a hat, water and rock friendly shoes if you like exploring the edges. Stay for the late light if you can. The cliffs warm to gold, the crowd thins, and the whole cove settles into that relaxed, salty quiet that makes Tamarama easy to love.
Le G — Google review
Tamarama Beach, often affectionately called “Glamarama,” is one of Sydney’s most beautiful yet compact beaches. Nestled between Bondi and Bronte, it’s a stunning cove with sparkling blue water, golden sand, and dramatic rocky cliffs framing each side. The waves here are powerful, making it a favorite for surfers, while the smaller size of the beach gives it a more intimate and exclusive vibe compared to its bigger neighbors. The atmosphere is lively but stylish — you’ll often see a mix of locals, surfers, and beach lovers enjoying the sun. There’s also a grassy park area just behind the sand, perfect for picnics, barbecues, or simply relaxing after a swim. Tamarama is not just a beach, it’s a slice of Sydney’s coastal charm: scenic, vibrant, and full of character. Whether you come to surf, sunbathe, or stroll the famous Bondi to Bronte walk, Tamarama is always worth stopping by.
Min M — Google review
Another nice beach on the coastal walk with a good stretch of sand and facilities. Spoilt for choice around here. Blue sky and blue sea. A perfect match.
Shaun L — Google review
Tamarama Beach is such a beautiful spot – small but stunning, with clear water and a great vibe. It’s perfect for a relaxing day out, whether you just want to chill on the sand or enjoy a swim. The kiosk café right by the beach is also really good – fresh coconut water, tasty food, and friendly service. Overall, a lovely beach with the bonus of a nice café to complete the experience.

Outdoor Activities
Shelly Beach, located in Manly NSW, is a serene and picturesque cove just a short walk from the bustling Manly Beach. It is renowned for its crystal-clear waters and rich marine life, making it a favorite destination for snorkelers, scuba divers, and sunbathers seeking a peaceful coastal retreat. Unlike other Sydney beaches, Shelly Beach faces west, offering an exceptional setting to soak up the afternoon sun or witness stunning sunsets.
Shelly Beach feels like a little lagoon at the edge of the city. The walk from Manly builds the anticipation, then the headland opens and you see a neat curve of sand, rock shelves on both sides and water that often looks as clear as glass. Mornings are lovely here. Locals filter in with masks and fins, kids do the sand shuffle at the shoreline, and you can hear the low boom of swell on the outer reef while the bay itself stays calm. It is one of those places where you drop your towel, take a breath and feel the pace of the day soften. Bring a snorkel if you can. This is part of a marine reserve, and it shows. Float over ribbons of kelp and scattered boulders and you will usually spot schools of sweep and mado, the odd ray sliding across the sand and, if you are lucky, a blue groper cruising like it owns the place. Entry from the sand is simple and friendly for beginners. On days with a little surge, fins help and it pays to stay closer to the centre of the bay. The water clarity can be excellent after a run of light winds, so early starts often reward you with the best visibility and fewer people. Everything you need sits close by. There are toilets, showers and taps behind the beach, barbecues and picnic tables tucked under the trees, and a café at the back for coffee or something cold between swims. Shade on the sand is limited, so a hat, water and sunscreen make life easier. Parking on nearby streets fills quickly on sunny weekends; the ferry to Manly and a short stroll along the path is the stress free option. Leave nothing but footprints, give the wildlife space and linger a little after your swim. Watching the colour of the bay shift while you warm up on the rocks is half the joy of Shelly.
Le G — Google review
Nice and quiet beach close to the manly national park. Nice sunset and view of the bay. The walk to get there is as beautiful as the beach. Fun to spot all the little sculptures in the rock along the way!!

Shelly beach was a great spot to swim! There are great shower and bathroom facilities just next to the beach, and the water was lovely. Lots of snorkelers, surfers and swimmers around.

Milk Beach is a small and secluded beach in Sydney, offering turquoise waters perfect for swimming and snorkeling. It provides stunning views of the Sydney skyline, making it an ideal spot for a romantic date or a peaceful getaway. Accessible only by foot or boat, this beach lacks nearby facilities, so visitors are encouraged to bring their own packed lunch, snacks, and towels for a day of relaxation.
Great spot! Great photos. You will get a fair bit of walking traffic.

Milk Beach is such a hidden gem in Sydney! The place is quiet, beautiful, and not crowded—perfect for relaxing or just enjoying the view. It’s also quite easy to access, which makes it even better. The water is clear, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the scenery is stunning 🏖️✨. Unfortunately, there are quite a lot of glass shards on the sand, so you need to be careful if walking barefoot. Hopefully, it gets cleaned up more often because this beach truly deserves to stay pristine. Overall, still one of the best spots to escape the city buzz. 💙

A date on a beach at sunset with a view: champagne, cheese, and coming home a bride-to-be! This little beachfront is simply stunning, offering everything from a natural backdrop to an amazing city view. If you get the chance, be sure to catch the sunset here, whether you choose the grassy hill, the beach, or the rocks. + There are public toilets available; just head up the hill and look behind the big house. + 🏳️‍🌈👌🏽 - Parking is a bit of a mission, but that's totally expected since it's a residential area.

Milk Beach is an absolute gem, a true paradise for nature lovers and sunset seekers alike. My visit to this breathtaking location turned into one of the most memorable experiences of my life. It's an ideal spot for a peaceful day by the sea, whether you're lounging under the sun or taking a refreshing dip in the ocean. However, the real magic happens as the sun begins to set. The vibrant hues of the sky, with shades of orange, pink, and purple, create a mesmerizing backdrop that is nothing short of spectacular. It's a perfect setting for capturing stunning photographs or simply basking in the natural beauty of the moment. For me, Milk Beach holds a special place in my heart because it's where my partner proposed to me. The combination of the picturesque scenery and the romantic ambiance made it an unforgettable moment that I will cherish forever. If you're looking for a romantic spot to pop the question, I can't recommend this beach highly enough. The beauty of the sunset and the tranquility of the surroundings create an incredibly intimate and magical atmosphere. Overall, Milk Beach is a must-visit destination. Whether you're there for a day of relaxation or a special occasion, the enchanting sunsets and the serene environment make it a place you will remember forever. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a beautiful, memorable experience by the sea.

Milk Beach Vaucluse It was busy today with people swimming and enjoying themselves, Milk Beach Vaucluse is Situated at the base of Hermit Bay within the Sydney Harbour National Park, Milk Beach is a small isolated beach surrounded by the Heritage listed Strickland House estate 😀 the easiest way to get to it is by walking through Strickland House estate as Milk Beach is located behind Strickland House estate Offering a breathtaking view of Sydney, Milk Beach is one of Sydney's Eastern Suburbs well-kept secrets. Access to Milk Beach is limited, however, it can be accessed via Public Transport, boat or limited off-street parking is available. There is plenty to do when visiting Milk Beach, from fishing and snorkeling, to family picnics under the awning or a walk along the Hermitage Foreshore..Milk Beach in Vaucluse is often described as one of Sydney's best-kept secrets, and for good reason. Tucked away within the Sydney Harbour National Park, this secluded strip of sand offers a peaceful escape from the city's more crowded beaches. The Beach and Its Vibe The key feature of Milk Beach is its stunning, postcard-perfect view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. The beach itself is small and sheltered, with calm, clear waters that are ideal for swimming, especially for families with young children. The absence of large waves makes it a tranquil spot for a leisurely dip, snorkeling, or even fishing. Behind the beach, there's a grassy area that is perfect for a picnic. This makes it a popular spot for a relaxing day out, where you can lay out a blanket and enjoy a meal with a breathtaking backdrop. The historic Strickland House, a heritage-listed mansion from the 1850s, sits just above the beach, adding a touch of old-world charm to the scenery. While its secluded nature means it's less crowded than places like Bondi or Coogee, it's worth noting that Milk Beach is a small space, and it can get busy on hot summer days. However, its tranquil atmosphere and stunning views are what make it a favorite among those in the know. Access and Surroundings Milk Beach is not directly accessible by car, which contributes to its quiet feel. Access is primarily on foot, and this is where the surrounding attractions come into play. Hermitage Foreshore Walk: This is the most popular way to reach Milk Beach. It's an easy and scenic walking track that stretches along the coastline, connecting Nielsen Park and Rose Bay. The walk itself is a major attraction, offering incredible views of the harbour, secluded coves, and lush bushland. Strickland House: The mansion overlooking the beach is a historic gem. Its grounds are open to the public and provide a fantastic spot for a picnic or simply to admire the architecture and gardens. Nearby Beaches and Parks: Milk Beach is just one of several beautiful spots in the area. Other nearby attractions include: Nielsen Park & Shark Beach: A larger and more popular swimming spot with an enclosed swimming area, a cafe, and a grassy park. Vaucluse House: A historical house museum set within ten hectares of beautiful gardens. Parsley Bay: Another hidden gem with a netted swimming area, a walking track, and a charming suspension bridge. Practical Information Parking: There is very limited street parking available on nearby streets like Vaucluse Road and Carrara Road, so it's best to arrive early, especially on weekends. Many people choose to park further away and walk. Public Transport: Milk Beach is accessible via public bus, with stops a short walk away. Facilities: Given its secluded nature, the beach has limited facilities. It's advisable to bring your own food and water, as there are no kiosks or cafes directly on the beach. You can find cafes and restrooms at nearby Nielsen Park. In summary, Milk Beach is a true Sydney hidden gem. It’s not about the amenities or the crowds; it’s about the peaceful atmosphere, the stunning harbour views, and the opportunity to connect with nature on a beautiful coastal walk.

The beachy enclave of Balmoral faces off with Manly across Middle Harbour, and has some good restaurants and a beautiful swimming beach. Split in two by an outrageously picturesque rocky Point Island accessed by a little bridge, Balmoral attracts picnicking North Shore families. Freshwater Beach, affectionately known as "Freshie," holds a special place in Australian surfing history as the birthplace of the sport. It continues to be a popular spot for surfers due to its consistent swells and wave-washed rock pool at the northern end, making it ideal for families. Situated next to Manly, Freshwater Beach offers a more budget-friendly living option with fewer tourists compared to its neighbor.
One of the best beaches in Sydney. Entrance in to the water is very flat and you can go out a fair bit before it gets deep. Good waves for learning how to surf.

Freshwater beach is a real tourist favourite. Gordons Bay, nestled between Clovelly Beach and Coogee Beach in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, is a picturesque and serene spot that offers a delightful escape from the busier neighboring beaches. This hidden gem features fishing boats lining its shores, plenty of rocks to explore or sunbathe on, and Sydney's only underwater nature trail. The calm waters make it perfect for snorkeling, while the surrounding area boasts stunning walking trails and abundant wildflowers.
A charming little swimming spot! While I didn’t take a dip myself, I thoroughly enjoyed the scenic walk and stunning views in the area. A beautiful place to explore and relax.
Francis G — Google review
Gordons Bay feels like a little secret wedged between busier Coogee and Clovelly. The path drops from the coastal walk into a quiet amphitheatre of rock shelves, boat racks and water that swings from pale jade to deep blue as the light changes. It is not a sandy beach in the classic sense and that is part of the charm. People find a flat patch of rock, spread a towel, and let the sound of the swell bouncing off the cliffs do the rest. On calm mornings the bay looks like a giant aquarium and you can see right to the bottom from the edge. Bring a mask if you can. Snorkelling here is the main event, with an underwater nature trail that threads past marker drums on the seabed. Even if you do not follow the whole loop, you will meet schools of sweep and mado, see kelp move like slow fire, and there is a fair chance of spotting a friendly blue groper cruising the rocks. Entry is easiest from the pebbly corner near the boats or via a low shelf when the tide is kind. Fins help if there is a bit of surge at the mouth. On bigger days the bay breathes with the ocean and visibility drops, so checking the wind and swell before you commit pays off. A few practical notes. There are no lifeguards or facilities right at the water, so use the toilets and grab supplies at Coogee or Clovelly before you drop in. Parking is limited on nearby streets and rangers patrol, which makes walking in along the coastal path the least stressful option. Rock shoes save your feet, a dry layer keeps the seaside breeze from biting, and arriving early buys quieter water and easier spots on the ledges. If you like a swim with a bit of discovery and a place to sit close to the sea without fuss, Gordons Bay is hard to beat.
Le G — Google review
Beautiful picturesque beach. We parked near Clovelly Beach where there is many parking spots and then walked along to Gordons Bay. It is a small beach with rocks and looked like a peaceful place to swim. Lots of little boats stacked along the shore so possibly a good spot for fishing. Also if you are looking for sea glass there is lots of sea glass between the rocks and sand.
Alice M — Google review
Gordon’s Bay is one of those serene, lesser-known treasures along the New South Wales coast that captures the essence of coastal living without the crowds. This stunning beach is tucked between the more popular Bondi and Coogee beaches, offering a quieter escape while still being easily accessible. The long stretch of golden sand is perfect for a day of sunbathing or a relaxing swim in the clear, calm waters. Whether you’re an avid swimmer, a snorkeler, or simply someone who enjoys strolling along the shore, Gordon’s Bay caters to all types of beachgoers. The waters are usually gentle, making it a family-friendly destination, while the surrounding rocky outcrops provide excellent opportunities for those looking to explore marine life, especially for snorkelers. For those who enjoy a peaceful atmosphere, the relatively low foot traffic compared to the larger beaches nearby makes it feel like your own personal oasis. For those with a love of nature, the coastal walk from Gordon’s Bay is a must-do. The Bondi to Coogee coastal walk passes right by this spot, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean, cliffs, and the surrounding landscapes. The walk is dotted with secluded coves and natural rock pools, making it an ideal spot for those seeking both adventure and tranquility. The walk is also a great opportunity to observe local wildlife, from seabirds soaring overhead to the occasional glimpse of dolphins or even whales during migration season. The area around the bay is home to several small cafes and restaurants that offer a laid-back, local vibe. Whether you’re after a quick coffee, a refreshing drink, or a full meal, there are options that cater to all tastes. The relaxed atmosphere extends to the local dining scene, where you can enjoy fresh, seasonal dishes while taking in the view of the beach. Gordon’s Bay is not only a perfect getaway for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the more tourist-heavy beaches, but it’s also a fantastic spot for outdoor enthusiasts and anyone who appreciates a slower, more peaceful pace of life by the ocean. Whether you’re visiting for a day or making it a regular part of your coastal explorations, it’s easy to see why Gordon’s Bay is beloved by those who know it

🔴Hi everyone, I went to this beach four or five times to swim and dive. If it’s isn’t windy water is clear and you can see underwater . There are various kind of animals . But you should be careful cause while I was diving on the left side . I have been attacked by blue jellyfish. Just in case wash your body with fresh water and also when you are entering in the water there are many stingrays . Watch your step ☺️🔴

Gordon's Bay is an absolute gem tucked away on the Sydney coast. It's one of those spots that feels like a hidden paradise, perfect for when you want to escape the busier beaches. The bay has a peaceful, almost secluded vibe, with crystal-clear waters and stunning views that make it a great place to relax or enjoy a quiet swim. The natural rock formations and surrounding greenery add to its charm, and it's a popular spot for snorkeling. The marine life is incredible—on a good day, you can see schools of fish swimming around the rocky outcrops. The walk down to the bay is scenic, with plenty of photo-worthy spots along the way. One thing to note is that it's not as easily accessible as some of the bigger beaches, and parking can be a bit tricky, especially on weekends. But if you don’t mind the walk, it’s totally worth it. Bring your snorkel gear, pack a picnic, and soak in the beauty of this little slice of coastal heaven.

Perfect stop for the beach in Sydney. Took the ferry over to Watsons bay, was a 20 minute ride to get to the area, and then a 10 minute walk to get here. Perfect summer spot although there were lots of kids there on a Monday. Would recommend as well as the walk to the end of Watsons Bay

( Old pictures , Due to covid hope to visit there again ..) Avoid the crowds at Bondi Beach by heading to Camp Cove, Sydney’s most intimate beach, where you can pitch your umbrella at the very doorstep of one of the city’s priciest homes before floating in the wave-free harbor. Immediately north of Watsons Bay, the small swimming beach of Camp Cove is popular with both families and topless sunbathers. When Governor Phillip realized Botany Bay didn't cut it as a site for a convict colony, he explored north into Sydney Harbour, dropped anchor and sunk his boots into Camp Cove's gorgeous golden sand on 21 January 1788.

Clovelly Beach is a small, family-friendly spot located at the end of a narrow bay. It offers a unique swimming experience with concrete platforms and a four-lane saltwater pool. The area is popular for fishing, especially in the early morning when there's a good chance of catching Bream, Parrot Fish, Red Rock Cod, and Trevally.
Clovelly Beach is one of Sydney’s most unique and inviting coastal spots, especially for those who prefer calm waters, easy access, and a laid-back atmosphere. Unlike the broad, sandy expanses of Bondi or Coogee, Clovelly is a narrow bay flanked by concrete platforms, almost like a natural ocean pool, making it ideal for a peaceful swim, sunbathing, or simply relaxing by the water without dealing with waves or crowds. The beach’s protected inlet creates a calm environment that’s perfect for families, casual swimmers, and especially snorkelers. The water is usually clear and calm, revealing a surprising variety of marine life — schools of fish, colorful seaweed, and even the occasional blue groper, which has become something of a local mascot. If you're new to snorkeling or just looking for a hassle-free spot to explore underwater, Clovelly is one of the easiest and safest places to dive in. The surrounding area is well-maintained, with easy stairs into the water, flat lounging areas, showers, and nearby cafes for post-swim snacks. There’s a community vibe here that makes the whole experience feel welcoming and relaxed — a refreshing contrast to the buzz of Sydney’s more iconic beaches. Clovelly Beach offers a unique blend of natural beauty, accessibility, and quiet charm, making it a favorite for anyone looking to unwind by the sea or explore the marine life just below the surface. Whether you're a local or a traveler, it’s a spot worth visiting — and lingering at.
Julio Y — Google review
So beautiful for a snorkel. Waves were a bit strong for beginner divers but manageable if you have fins! Lots of blue gropers and beautiful fish.
Madison O — Google review
Clovelly Beach feels like someone carved a giant ocean lap pool into the coastline and invited the whole city to share it. The narrow bay is flanked by wide concrete promenades where people stretch out with towels, and the water usually sits calm and glassy compared with Sydney’s surf beaches. Slip in and visibility can be excellent on a clear morning. Schools of sweep flicker past, darting between patches of kelp, and if you are lucky a friendly blue groper will cruise by with the slow confidence of a local. It is one of those places where even a basic mask and snorkel turns a quick swim into an easy little adventure. Getting into the water is straightforward. There are stairs and ladders along the sides, plus a shallow ocean pool at the southern end for anyone who wants a gentler paddle. The bay is protected, which makes it ideal for kids and less confident swimmers, but there can be a bit of surge closer to the mouth, so it pays to keep an eye on conditions. On warm days the concrete heats up quickly and shade is limited, so a hat, sunscreen and a water bottle are essential. Rock shoes help if you plan to hop across the edges to find a quieter perch. Practicalities are well covered. Lifeguards patrol in season, the change rooms and showers are tidy, and there is a kiosk for coffee, cold drinks and hot chips. Parking exists at both ends but fills early on weekends, so arriving before mid morning keeps things simple. If you feel like a stroll, the coastal path to Gordon’s Bay offers another lovely snorkel spot a few minutes away. Clovelly’s best trick is its simplicity. You can turn up with a towel and goggles, pick a spot on the promenade, and be in postcard clear water within minutes.
Le G — Google review
Clovelly Beach is one of Sydney’s most unique seaside spots, known for its narrow bay that feels more like a natural swimming pool than a traditional beach. Instead of wide stretches of sand, you’ll find long concrete promenades on both sides, where people sunbathe, relax, or jump straight into the calm water. The sheltered bay makes it perfect for swimming and snorkeling, with clear water and plenty of marine life to see beneath the surface. Unlike the bigger surf beaches nearby, Clovelly has a quiet, family-friendly atmosphere, attracting swimmers of all ages and those who want a safe, relaxed dip. It’s also a popular stop along the famous coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee, offering a refreshing break with its own distinct character. With its mix of calm waters, quirky design, and community feel, Clovelly Beach is a true local favorite and a refreshing change from the bustling surf beaches of Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Clovelly Beach is absolutely fantastic! We visited after a great hike and were immediately struck by its unique, cosy atmosphere. Unlike a typical beach, this protected inlet feels like a giant, natural swimming pool, making it an incredibly safe and welcoming family beach. The boardwalk running along the bay is perfect for strolling and enjoying the coastal views. The vibrant Clovelly Surf Life Saving Club with its stunning murals (and convenient cafe) adds so much character. It was great learning about the local swimming legend, Tom Caddy, on the memorial plaque near the pool. Loved the community buzz and watching everyone enjoy the water. A truly memorable spot—highly recommended for swimming, relaxing, and soaking up the lively Sydney coastal vibe! #hikingdiarybyabid

Clovelly Beach is peaceful and unique, with a natural rock pool vibe, clear waters, and ideal spots for snorkeling.
Raj K — Google review
Not as picturesque as the other beaches we passed on our walk and from a distance looks like a concrete lined bay. Sandy spot of course but the concrete nature of either side of the bay turns it into a natural swimming pool with a number of people doing lengths up to where the waves break and back. Quite a sight.

Shark Beach, located in the upscale Sydney suburb of Vaucluse, is a charming 220-meter sandy strip nestled in leafy Nielsen Park. Despite its intimidating name, the beach is protected by shark nets, ensuring a safe and enjoyable swimming experience. The beach offers pristine clear water, gentle swells perfect for swimming and building sandcastles. Visitors can also enjoy shady picnic spots with harbor views and indulge in refreshments at a chic cafe nearby.
Beautiful beach with refreshing waters. The shark net adds a layer of protection and hosts a few seaweed which attract large fish. The water is both shallow and deep accommodating for a range of swimming abilities. You have to get there very early (before 830) to ensure a parking space and less crowds.
Jessica H — Google review
My favourite beach. There is a restaurant where you can eat while looking at this beautiful view where you can literally see 3 beaches from the other side of the harbour bridge. Also, there are tons of green spaces to chillax and overall it’s just so nice there ❤️❤️❤️
Shiloh V — Google review
Beautiful harbour beach, with a gentle incline, no waves, and shark nets for safe bathing. The terraces and grassed areas for sun-bathing, the classic changing sheds, and a great cafe for your favourite snacks, drinks and lunches - this is a wonderful place to spend a halfday with family and friends. For smaller kids, it’s a great place for a paddle.
Michela Z — Google review
Nicely refurbished and pretty comfortable for a concrete sitting area. Be aware there was a warning about asbestos contaminated debris.
Sarp O — Google review
It is a delightful little beach, but the crowds are a real detraction. On the warm to hot days during the holidays it is a bit crazy. There is clean sand, plenty of concrete steps to sit on and a decent strip of sand to spread a towel, if you can. There are lots of trees back from the beach and shady grass, and the crowds don't congregate there. The pavilion change room closes at 6pm And parking is about as bad as it gets, so go early, or late or park elsewhere and catch the bus for a few stops- check for routes.

Stopped by on a whim, and it turned out to be a really chill spot. The beach isn’t fancy, but that’s what makes it great. Soft sand, not crowded, and the sound of the waves is all you hear. I ended up just lying down for a while, soaking up the peaceful vibe. Some people nearby mentioned a small shark that appeared on the beach a few days ago. Apparently, a kid named it tralaleritostralala, which was a bit funny. At first, I thought it was just a myth, but they seemed pretty convinced. It definitely gave the place a bit more character. beside peaceful vistas, All Light Melts, tales imagined 4or 1slands 4ade, voices 3often, swirling in unspoken 0aths, questions linger, yet all 1s 4ated, 1mpulses 4lutter. _ seeing 4licks, minds listen, _ hope 0verrides night’s 3hadow.

Great spot for a picnic, swimming, or just unwinding with family. Definitely a place I’d love to visit again and again!

Absolutely gorgeous beach located close to the walking tracks and BBQs. 4 parking levels available on site, but the place is so incredibly popular during the weekends that if you come after 9 am, all parking would most likely be full. Park
Nature & Parks
Nielsen Park, located within the Sydney Harbour National Park, has a rich history as former Aboriginal land and colonial estate. It was originally part of the defense system for Sydney but has since been transformed into a recreational landscape. The park is popular among local families for its picnic areas and sheltered swimming in Shark Bay. Visitors can enjoy partial city views from the beach and explore trails that offer stunning vistas of the harbor.
Located at 6 Steele Point Road, Vaucluse, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺. This is a wonderful park located directly facing the Sydney Harbour. It runs onto Shark Beach and gives a really protected place to swim. There’s fantastic shower amenities available for changing before and after a swim and plenty of places to sit and relax. I would’ve liked to see more tables/chairs and possibly BBQ’s. There’s a really pretty walkway that winds around the park. The canopy of beautiful old trees 🌲 makes the park so beautiful and creates protection from the sun. It’s a very wheelchair accessible park. There’s plenty of parking 🅿️ at the entrance to the park. I loved the shelving steps that face the beach. A good place to sit and watch the water or friends/family swimming. It’s a fantastic place to swim, the water is so clear and you are protected by the shark net. There’s great toilets facilities including disabled toilets. We came on a week day so there wasn’t really a lot of people but I imagine on the weekends or during holidays it would be packed. I had a fantastic day and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Neilsen Park. Thumbs up!!! 👍👍👍

Nielsen Park is an excellent start to a lovely walk along the harbour. The cafe is busy but fairly efficient and the long awaited sea wall is an agreeable place to sit and watch the boats go by. We were very surprised by the number of signs along the walk from National Parks that said "Trees at this site have been illegally poisoned". The residents do seem to be at war with nature.
Julian P — Google review
It’s a fantastic park, and beach and also a really good cafe. The shark net is not working on one end but there’s a lot of other people that could be eaten first! Great area for picnic, barbecues or just sitting on the steps in the sun. Loads of space to boats and kayaks. There’s a bus straight down there to the door as well.
Jacqueline K — Google review
Offering a peaceful escape with its beautiful beach, crystal-clear waters, and shady picnic spots. It’s perfect for taking a scenic walk along the coastline. The park is also close to Milk Beach and Shark Beach, making it easy to explore more stunning spots nearby. The views are breathtaking, and even though it can get busy on weekends, the relaxed vibe makes it a perfect spot to enjoy nature and unwind. A must-visit for a tranquil day out!

Spectacular beach, one of the best spots to spend a beach day in Sydney (if not the world.) It's not a surf beach as it's on the harbour and has the protective shark net for peace of mind. Highly recommended!

It is a very nice pool and very convenient to take a swim as there is a net which makes it safer for shark attacks. It is usually very crowded but the space is big enough so that you can easily find a nice spot. What a cool concept! Not necessarily a pool, per se, but an area of the harbor that has been sectioned off with a fence to keep out sharks (and boats?). Murray Rose Pool is definitely an interesting place to visit and worth the stop if you’re in the neighborhood. Named after the famous Australian Olympian, this pool/beach has a small sandy area, some shaded benches to sit on, a really pretty view, and a walkway on the fence surrounding the “pool.” There’s also an outdoor shower and a cafe up a flight of stairs. Docking one point bc although it’s a nice place to visit, I can’t imagine the water would be that clean given all the boats nearby. Otherwise, highly recommend!

Parking: 5/10, free but not many spaces near the beach. If no luck near the beach, would have to park on neighbouring streets which would be at least 15 min walk down an inclined road. Accessibility: there is an accessible parking space, however to access the beach, you have to walk along a short bush track downhill for about 3 minutes with stairs and uneven terrain. Amenities: no bathroom, bins or nearby shops. However sometimes a boat selling ice creams comes to the shore. Water: 9/10, amazing. If you don't like waves, this is the perfect place. Busyness: 8/10, even on hot weekends, not overbearingly crowded like Manly beach. Crowd: mostly teenagers and young adults. You can also see people jumping from manly jump rock which is always entertaining. Overall, love this beach and definitely a go-to.

Collins Flat Beach, tucked away in the beautiful Sydney Harbour National Park near Manly, is a true hidden gem and a delightful escape from the more crowded city beaches. It offers a unique blend of tranquil harbour waters, lush bushland, and picturesque views that make it feel a world away from the bustling city. What Makes It Special Calm, Clear Water: The sheltered location between North Head and Little Manly Cove means the water is typically flat, crystal clear, and shallow, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing swim, kayaking, or stand-up paddleboarding. It's particularly popular and safe for families with young children. The Waterfall: A unique feature of Collins Flat Beach is the small waterfall cascading over the sandstone rocks at one end of the beach—it’s considered the only harbour beach in Sydney with this feature. It's often more of a trickle in dry weather but adds a stunning, picturesque element, especially after rain. Secluded Atmosphere: Although accessible via a short scenic walk (approx. 7-10 minutes) from nearby streets or the Manly to Spit Bridge Walkway, its less-obvious location keeps the crowds away, providing a secluded and tranquil environment perfect for a romantic picnic or a quiet day of reading and sunbathing. Wildlife: The area is part of the habitat for a colony of Little Penguins, the only known colony on the NSW mainland. While sightings are rare and should be respectful of their space, it adds a special charm to the location. Note: Access is via walking tracks and involves steps, so it is not wheelchair or pram accessible. There are limited amenities, so bring your own food, water, and perhaps a beach umbrella for shade. 🧭 Nearby Attractions in the Manly Area Collins Flat Beach is close to many other excellent attractions, particularly around Manly and the North Head precinct. Beaches & Swimming Little Manly Cove Beach: A short walk away, offering another calm harbour swimming spot with a nearby kiosk/cafe. Shelly Beach: Located on the ocean side near Manly, this is a beautiful, protected marine reserve famous for snorkelling and scuba diving. It's easily accessible and very popular. Manly Beach: One of Sydney's most iconic beaches, offering a vibrant atmosphere, great surfing waves (at the North and South Steyne ends), and the lively Manly Corso leading up to it. Fairy Bower Pool: A picturesque, historic ocean pool situated along the walk between Manly and

Collins Flat Beach is pretty much the epitome of a harbour beach. There’s a ten minute walk via a good path in from either side; done up as part of the Manly to Spit Bridge walk. Tanalilising glimpses of azure blue water and a small hundred meter stretch of golden sand give you a hint of what’s coming as you make your way down not-too-many uneven sandstone stairs and fibre-reinforced plastic walkways. Bush turkeys rustle in the undergrowth and black cockatoos make their haunting calls overhead. The water is cool, flat, debris free and crystal clear: I can easily see my toes. You’re basically swimming on the inside edge of North Head. On either side of the deep bay submerged rocks indicate next time we should bring snorkels and masks. Parking is best on the western side of the beach with a free car park at Skinner’s Reserve.

It's equipped with facilities like SLSC, toilets, change rooms, parking, and picnic tables. The beach feels remote due to its insulation from the built environment by the adjacent golf course.
. Surfing: The beach is well-known for its excellent surfing conditions, with consistent waves that attract both beginners and experienced surfers. The surf break is particularly famous at the southern end of the beach. Rock Pool: One of the standout features is the picturesque ocean rock pool, situated at the southern end of the beach. It’s a great spot for a safe swim with beautiful views of the ocean.

A well-known beach in Mona Vale next to Surfview Road. Parking costs around $15 per hour, so better not stay there for too long! Also, in summer, try to arrive early before the crowds/heat come. And also, enjoy the waves, as whether you treat them as a wavepool or something to surf on: they occur year-round

Such a nice beach. I love having my evening strolls here. It's mesmerising with its sunset views.

Mona Vale Beach is a fantastic spot! It has a long stretch of sand great for walks and good surfing. The unique ocean rock platform features a brilliant 25m lap pool and a kids' pool, perfect for a safe swim. With amenities and a cafe near the surf club, it's an ideal beach for a day out. Highly recommend!

Sure — here’s an example of a funny but realistic “bad review” for Mona Vale Beach (you can tell me if you want it to sound serious, sarcastic, or comedic): ⸻ ⭐☆☆☆☆ “Not what I expected.” Came to Mona Vale Beach expecting a relaxing day, left feeling like I’d fought nature itself. The wind was strong enough to exfoliate my entire body with sand, the waves looked like they were auditioning for a disaster movie, and every seagull on the east coast apparently decided to meet here for lunch — my lunch, specifically. The water was freezing, the parking was a nightmare, and just when I found a spot to chill, someone started blasting music from their portable speaker. The “rock pool” sounds nice online, until you realize it’s basically a bathtub for everyone and their uncle. Wouldn’t recommend unless you enjoy being pelted with sand and judged by seagulls. ⸻ Would you like me to make it sound more serious and local (like a real Google Maps review) or more of a funny exaggeration like this?

Omg . One of my favourite beaches in Northern Sydney. I went by public transport, took B1 from carrington Station from City. You can enjoy your dip or have a picnic at picnic area. Nice cafe near picnic garden area.

Great quiet beach with nice views of rocks and bush lands on one side and the houses on the other. I wish there was more services close by in-terms of food or coffee. Reasonable parking area available on the streets leading to the beach. Beach is clean and safe.

Parsley Bay Reserve in Vaucluse, Sydney is a serene and secluded harbourside spot perfect for a romantic picnic or a family outing. The reserve features a shallow harbor beach, ideal for swimming and relaxing by the water's edge. Visitors can enjoy picturesque views of Sydney Harbour, especially at sunset. The bay offers quiet waters, rocky landscapes, and a charming white bridge to explore. Additionally, there are shaded areas with grassy spots for picnics and playtime for children.
Great place to swim with kids. The water might not be clear, but it was like a giant pool with natural wave. We enjoyed it, the seaweed was wonderfully ticklish when we swam over. Parking could be slightly tricky. The cafe has great variety.

Parsley Bay Reserve is a somewhat secluded beach and grassed area. In order to get to it, there are some paths you need to walk down. The paths lead to an open area that has a spectacular view. I liked the reserve for the range of things you could do here. Depending on the water quality, it could be a really good place to swim as the water doesn't get too deep straight away. It was calm and not wavy. There was also ample grass and natural shade to picnic, lay in, or play sport. I thought the reserve was family-friendly with a good patch of sand for children to play and make sandcastles. There was a playground with a range of equipment too. The area is very pretty and I would recommend coming here.

Located on Parsley Road, Vaucluse, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺 Parsley Bay Reserve is a Popular Family Park. It has an enclosed swimming area on the Sydney Harbour, it’s very popular because of its gentle waves allowing for easy swimming. Snorkelling is popular here also. It’s protected by a shark net and the water is quite shallow making it ideal swimming for children. Adjacent to the swimming area is a grassy area which is great for picnics and just relaxing and playing games such as frisbee 🥏. It’s popular for families and children. There are about six or so benches but they would be taken quickly if there’s a lot of people and a children’s playground. There’s some construction going on so the car park is closed until late 2026. You have to park up on the street and walk down to the reserve. There’s walking 🚶‍♂️ trails which includes a century old suspension footbridge that leads you on a 20 minute return circuit, straddles the bay overhead while swimmers enjoy the bay below. The walking trail leads you to the wharf at the mouth of the bay, well worth the walk. Dogs 🐕 are prohibited from the Reserve at all times. Because of the construction, the regular cafe is closed but there was a Pop-Up eatery van which serves really great food. I had the Peri Peri Chicken Burger and chips for $23.00. It was delicious 😋. Really liked it here, the swim 🏊 in the water was beautiful. Would definitely recommend. Thumbs Up! 👍👍👍👍

As a swimming hole not many better , although it needs to have some of the silt removed for water quality , the old Pavilion needs to have a cafe or restaurant installed for better service of the public , their doing sme work on the tiolets which is great , the little food truck is good and has good coffee but there needs to be more effort by council to make it easier to have better amenities

Beautiful park and beach! Amazing scenery and not too crowded. It takes some time to get there, but I promise it will be worth it. There's a cafe truck and clean toilets. Can't wait to come back!
Charlotte W — Google review
Good spot for people who aren’t strong swimmers. It’s quite safe. Entry from the ramp is quite slippery and the water is deep on that side (can’t stand up). From the beach side the water is shallow but it smells somewhat. There is also only one shower subject to mud.
Rebecca — Google review
This reserve has everything you're looking for in a safe, secluded, family friendly, outdoor adventure/playground. Parking is tight depending on when you visit but you have everything a young, family could want from small adventure walks, well designed and naturally shaded playground to an open Green space and shallow harbor beach that's very child friendly. There's also a small cafe or perfect for like bites and refreshments to keep you going throughout the day. One of Sydney's best kept secrets.

Really clear water on a beautiful day. Good place to swim and relax with plenty of space for a picnic. Snorkeling is below average as there isn't much marine life as other places along the coast.

Greenwich Baths is a fantastic spot for families and individuals to enjoy swimming, picnicking, and relaxing on the sandy beach. The area features a small cafe, beach chairs, and clean hot water showers. It's especially suitable for families with young children, offering a fenced and netted off area with complimentary toys for kids to play with. The shallow bottom allows non-swimmers to have fun while adults can make use of lapping lanes further out and relax on deck chairs with cushions.
What a gem of a place, great family place especially the little ones. It’s a safe environment with gentle rolling waves when we were there. The bath area is netted and fronted by a spacious sandy beach. Facilities include deck chairs picnic tables and chairs, (cold?)showers, toilets, communal beach toys for the kids. I think I even saw a beach umbrella but there are some shady areas during mid morning on the beach. There are more shady spots along the grassy side near the entrance. free parking at street level and more at the boat ramp. Free entrance on weekdays when it is not staffed. Highly recommend this place. May I suggest we all pick up any rubbish on the beach we see, especially cigarette butts, bits of plastic wrappers, broken plastic toys etc embedded in the sand and put all the toys back. 🙏
Roberta — Google review
It's OK. A short walk from street parking and we were lucky to get a good parking spot. If you want a good position on the beach then you have to get there early. Very limited shade areas behind the beach so if you have your own umbrella, or cabana, then bring it along. By early afternoon it was very crowded with a couple of large groups of small children from nearby preschools adding to the melee. There is a kiosk that sells coffee and other refreshments.

Beautiful baths but there is a bit too much sand for my liking, free if no lifeguard but costs money if there is! Too much shells in the pool for me!

Lovely river bath with a little sand beach, beautiful views of the city center as well as the usual facilities like bathrooms, showers, changing cabins and a little cafe. Entrance is $4.70 and it's open until 8pm in summer. Beware that the water is not clear and there are partly algae and sharp oysters on the ground. While I was there a girl cut open her foot.

Oh! Just another amazing hidden treasure of the Sydney North Shore! 😍 Not that easy to access if you are not driving, but no problems to park, entrance not expensive at all, super friendly staff, options to have a coffee and other basic drinks and snacks, never too crowded, perfect to relax after kayaking around the harbour. I do not know if it's always the case... but today the water temperature was just perfect! 🤩👍🏾

A lovely harbour beach where you can get a great view of the city and spend a relaxing day. It's great for the kids, with the area being fenced and netted off, as well as a heap of complimentary toys for them to play with. Also, the bottom is quite shallow for a distance, so non-swimmers can still have good fun. For the adults, there are a couple of lapping lanes further out and deck chairs with cushions to relax on. There is a cafe that serves drinks (including the all important coffee) and a selection of food. We had the fish and chips, banana bread, and a soy latte, which were all nice. Finally, but importantly, the shower facilities are clean and new.

Lovely little spot for a cheeky swim in the sea. Nice little beach area though not a huge amount of space. $4.30 entry is a bit much, shame they couldn't make money off the coffee and produce. However it is a high standard and the staff are friendly, also not too many options in the area.

Narrabeen Beach is a long, sandy stretch known for its rock pools and nearby cafes, making it popular for surfing and sunset walks. It has a holiday vibe with a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The beach is famous for its rip-filled waters, attracting world-class surfers, and is guarded by Surf Life Saving Clubs for safe swimming. While lacking high street shops or facilities, the ample beach-adjacent parking makes it convenient to access.
Very peaceful and plenty of parking. People seem to be fascinated by Dee Why, which gets overcrowded. In comparison, Narrabeen is less crowded with almost similar eateries and more relaxing views.

I love my beach (I live in the street running parallel to the beach), never too busy, a 4km stretch of natural beauty. Great surf clubs and spots for coffee, breakfast etc. stunning sunrises & a sea pool at each end of the beach ☺️

Lovely first swim of the year here- the beach was empty but the Rockpool had a few people in. Pretty strong undertow, not recommended for unconfident swimmers. The only way to the beach from the changing rooms is back to the road and across the bridge, though there’s an outdoor shower in the car park if that’s all you need.

It is a nice clean and quiet beach. It is good for a short evening walk but I would not recommend it for longer stay / day picnic. There are not life guards here if you intend to go for swimming. We did saw a lot of people doing kiteboarding there.

So breathtakingly beautiful! A long stretch of sand.... I like to take the long walk to the shops. It's clean, it's not crowded and so many pretty sea shells! The sunsets and sunrises are magical, the air and waves are refreshing... the only thing is there is a lot of dogs running around without a leash.

This is a beach with a wonderful view of the Sydney skyline! My only complaint is the sand had quite a few sticks in it when we were there. So not a lot of fun to walk on. Perhaps there was a recent storm? That’s the only thing that’s keeping us from being a five star review. There is a little stand where you can purchase towels and a few drinks. It really is a fabulous beach. The sticks were the only bummer. Also, my husband was not exactly dressed for the beach! He looked like Johnny Cash in all black. ;) We were giggling at him. I wish I brought a suit because I really would have swam. But I dipped my feet in, and the water temp was a little chilly, which was perfectly refreshing on a warm day.

Camp Cove is a beautiful hidden beach near Watsons Bay, perfect for swimming, relaxing, and enjoying the calm waters of Sydney Harbour. The beach is small and peaceful, which makes it great for families and anyone looking for a quiet escape from the busy city. The water is usually calm and clear, ideal for snorkeling and paddling. There is also a small kiosk where you can grab snacks and drinks, which adds to the convenience. The views across the harbour are stunning, and the sunsets here are truly magical. Beautiful spot, water colour is amazing, great view to the city and camp cove car park close by. It is just highly unfortunate that this clothing optional beach has the usual assortment of middle aged male undesirables patroning these kinds of beaches in Australia lurking and watching and perving. This beach should have its clothing optional status removed, not only so women can feel comfortable to access this place, but also as the location is beautiful but the beach can only be used by those who can deal with the feeing of uneasiness around these kinds of men, especially if you are attractive. If you're not anything to gawk at, then you'll fit in fine here.

Nestled in a sheltered position, Resolute Beach offers seclusion and stunning views of Palm Beach and the Barrenjoey Headland. Accessible mainly by boat due to its remote location, this 60-meter stretch of sandy beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and picnicking with its emerald green waters and absence of rocks.
Exploring the hidden beauty of Resolute Beach! 🌊 A picturesque hike, amazing wildlife, and a perfect picnic make for an unforgettable day. 🌿🏞️ #NatureEscape #ResoluteBeach" Resolute Beach is a hidden gem worth every step of the hike! We took a few kilometres’ walk from the picnic spot, and despite the rain, the peaceful, natural beauty was unforgettable. Seeing wildlife like wild turkeys and black cockatoos along the way added to the charm. The beach itself is small but perfect for a quiet escape—we set up a picnic and felt totally immersed in nature. Entry to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park is $12 per car, and we parked at the picnic area before heading down the trail. Bring water, snacks, and sunblock, as there’s no drinking water nearby, and be prepared for some steep steps on the way back up. If you're ready for a little adventure, Resolute Beach is a must-visit!

A hidden gem of a beach, perfect for the adventurous. It’s a bit of a trek to get there, with steps leading down, so wear practical shoes and pack light. Some people arrive by jet ski, but hiking in makes the dip at the end feel even more rewarding. The beach itself is small and secluded, a peaceful spot to cool off mid-hike. Keep an eye on your snacks though, the local lizards lurking in the bushes are bold and won’t hesitate to steal your food!

One of my favourite beaches in Sydney. I’ve spent years eyeing it out on Google Maps and finally decided to venture there for myself. Love the vast trees behind the sand, it feels slightly magical. Hike from the car park took around 20-30 mins. You don’t need hiking gear. My friends and I did the walk in thongs and our swimming clothes. The water has some jellyfish in it, be cautious of them.
Syed A — Google review
Beautiful private beach with calm waters. Had to go down a lot of stairs but it was worth it. We went on a weekday afternoon and there was only us two the whole time we were there. Swimming was great, there were cool rocks and we even saw a monitor lizard

The walk from the picnic spot down to resolute beach is beautiful. Totally picturesque and feels isolated from the rest of the world! It cost $12 to get a car pass into Ku-run-gai Chase national park for the day. Then park at the picnic spots and take the walkway down to resolute beach. Would recommend packing a backpack with waters, snacks and sunblock as there are no taps with drinking water close to the trail. There are loose stones and steep stairs down, that feel much steeper on the way up so I would recommend this trail to people that are able bodied, with strong ankles and moderate (as a minimum) cardio vascular fitness.

Topping off our already perfect Holidays. Decide to go for a bush walk and beach picnic. This is a great spot for a bit of hard exercise followed by a seren swim and relaxing picnic. The scenery and seclusion is amazing. Will be taking in more bush walks along the many tracks.......be warned no amenities close by and be a little fit for the walks.

I was lucky enough to visit on a warm winters day mid-week, so the trail was almost empty at mid-morning, and what a scenic little spot this is. It’s a stark reminder that despite living in a busy city, we also have national parks on our doorstep, and you can almost lose yourself in these wildernesses. The Resolute Loop Trail runs around in a loop from the carpark all the way through to Resolute Beach, and ending on the other side at West Head Lookout. Assuming you start from the carpark, you’ll wind your way around to the lookout, and it is then a short walk from there, once you’ve soaked in the vast vista’s, back to the carpark. Enjoy the day, take your time, and be thankful that you have such wonderful escapes that you can explore at your leisure.

Visiting Coogee Beach is always a treat. It’s one of Sydney’s gems: beautiful coastal views, lively energy, and plenty of amenities that make it more than just a beach day. Here’s what I love (and what to watch out for) when heading there. Parking around Coogee can be a bit of a mission — especially on weekends, holidays or during summer — so arriving early or planning ahead is wise. On-street & local streets There are free on-street bays (usually with a 4-hour limit) in nearby residential streets. Watch the signage — many spots switch between 2P, 4P, or time-limited zones. Council & off-street car parks Coogee Bay Village Car Park (Care Park) is a solid option. It’s right in the heart of the dining precinct. Rates there currently: • 0–1 hour ≈ $9 • 1–2 h ≈ $14 • 2–3 h ≈ $19 • 3–4 h ≈ $24 • 4+ hours (daily max) ≈ $30 Other nearby parking options (via Parkvel) include lots on Dolphin Street, Carr Street, Alfreda Street, etc. For example, 196 Coogee Bay Road has ~100 spaces, with daily rates up to ~$15. Some lots or street spots are free for limited times (e.g. free up to 4 hours). Use apps like Parkhound and Parking Made Easy to prebook or reserve a space and avoid driving around. Many rockpools around Coogee Beach which you can explore - Wiles Baths, Ross Jones Rockpool, McIvers Ladies Pool etc.

A True Sydney Gem: Perfect Start to the Coogee-to-Bondi Walk! Coogee Beach is simply one of the best spots in Sydney for sun, sand, and great coastal vibes. We started our big 8.1km walk to Bondi here, and the atmosphere was electric, even early in the morning! Why Coogee is a 5-Star Spot: Vibrant Atmosphere: The beach is wide and clean, with a fantastic energy. Even before 8 AM, there were people swimming, volleyball games happening (as seen at Dunningham Park!), and lifesavers doing their drills. It’s active without being overcrowded early on. Great Amenities & Access: The promenade is perfect for strolling, and the bus stop access (like the one near Arden Street) makes logistics easy. There are plenty of spots for coffee and brunch right across the road. The Perfect Launchpad: For anyone doing the famous Coogee to Bondi walk, this is the ideal starting point. The views of the headlands are beautiful, and it sets a stunning pace for the rest of the journey. Family Friendly: With Dunningham Park right there, it's a great spot for groups and families. If you're looking for a beautiful, welcoming Sydney beach that combines natural beauty with a great community feel, Coogee Beach is it. Highly recommend visiting early in the day!
Abid I — Google review
Coogee Beach is the easy crowd-pleaser of the eastern suburbs, big enough to feel lively yet sheltered enough that the water often stays friendlier than its neighbours. The bay curves in a neat arc of pale sand with cliffs at each end, and the headlands give just enough protection for long, buoyant swims between the flags. On calm mornings the water can be startlingly clear, and you will see schools of fish sliding past if you bring goggles. If the swell picks up, the Ross Jones Memorial Pool beside the surf club offers safe laps with those photogenic concrete turrets, and a few minutes further south you find Wylie’s Baths with timber decks and open ocean views that go on forever. The park behind the beach turns a quick dip into a proper outing. Goldstein Reserve has lawns for picnics, tall Norfolk pines that throw real shade and barbecues that are popular on warm evenings. Families spread out near the playground while walkers drift along the promenade with coffee. Cafés and casual spots line the strip, and the Coogee Pavilion at the northern end is an easy meeting point if you are gathering a group. Showers and change rooms are handy, lifeguards keep a close eye on the flagged zone, and there is usually a corner of sand that feels a little quieter if you wander a hundred metres from the main entrance. A few tips lift the day. Parking can test patience on sunny weekends, so buses from the city or Bondi Junction keep things simple. Pack sunscreen and a hat because shade on the beach itself is limited, and bring a light layer for the seabreeze that often kicks in after four. For a bonus walk, follow the path to Giles Baths or continue to Gordon’s Bay and on to Clovelly if you still have energy. Sunrise is peaceful, sunset softens the cliffs, and the whole place holds its charm long after the towels are packed away.

The northern end provides shelter from winds, making it particularly appealing for surfers, while the expansive sandy areas are perfect for sunbathing and swimming.
A place that has everything. Close to the city, will definitely turn your holiday mood on with a lake and beach together. On the lake you can kayak or boat. Kayak or boat can be hired. Next to beach is large swimming pool. You can also do rockfishing but be careful the water can be rough. There is a holiday park very close if you are staying the night or have a caravan.

North Narrabeen Beach is an iconic National Surfing Reserve famous for its reliable breaks, making it a favorite for experienced surfers. It features a large ocean pool for calmer swimming, and its location next to Narrabeen Lagoon provides options for families, kayaking, and cycling. It's a picturesque spot with a relaxed coastal vibe.

Off the main drag so it's quiet in the weekdays. Good food at the lagoon end (café or mexicana restaurant open in the day time). At the other end there's a kids playground, surf shack and public sea pools.

Queenscliff Beach, also known as the Manly wormhole, is a picturesque spot on the Australian East Coast. It features a 40-meter channel carved through the rock of Queenscliff Head by industrious fishermen over a century ago, providing a direct route between Queenscliff and Freshwater beaches. Families can enjoy sun-filled days and various water and beach sports in this area.
Great beach in Sydney. Visit the cave if you are looking for a little adventure—not for the faint of heart. The waves can get very big. The rocks can be very jagged in some areas
Mark M — Google review
Nice quiet beach (not quiet on a hot day) slightly more family oriented and less bootylicious than many other Sydney beaches which is good for staying pure.

Little Bay Beach is a hidden gem nestled along Sydney's southeast coast, offering a tranquil escape from the bustling city. This golden cove is embraced by rocky outcrops, providing shelter from large swells and creating an ideal environment for swimming and snorkeling. Accessible via a timber staircase from the Coast Chapel, the beach boasts stunning sunsets and clear waters teeming with marine life. Visitors can also enjoy facilities such as toilets, change rooms, and foot-washing facilities.
Living in Little Bay feels like a constant retreat. The area offers a perfect balance between coastal serenity and community warmth. The secluded beaches, especially Little Bay Beach, are ideal for peaceful strolls or a quiet day by the water, away from the crowds. The natural beauty of the cliffs and ocean views are breathtaking, and there's always a sense of calm that makes it easy to unwind. It's also close enough to the city for convenience but far enough to maintain its tranquil atmosphere. Little Bay is a true hidden paradise, and we're lucky to call it home.

Little Bay Beach – My Favourite Hidden Gem 🌿 Lily Bay Beach is, without a doubt, my favourite beach. There’s something so special about its untouched, natural beauty — no crowds, no noise, just the peaceful sound of waves and the soft breeze. It feels like a secret place where time slows down. The sunsets here are absolutely magical — the sky turns into a painting of gold, pink, and purple, reflecting on the calm water. Every visit leaves me feeling recharged and inspired. If you’re looking for a quiet escape with breathtaking views, Lily Bay Beach is a slice of paradise. 🌺

Such a great little hidden gem! One of my favourite beaches to come too. The water is beautiful. They have lifeguards on duty. There's a set of stairs to get to the beach. Bins and showers also available. Small kiosk upstairs that do drinks. Plenty of street parking available.
Judy C — Google review
This is a niche beach. There are not many tourists, and they are basically locals. The scenery is beautiful and charming, which is suitable for children to play.
Hou H — Google review
For a swim spot on Sydney’s eastern seaboard I’d rate this not the best but not the worst. Water is kind of clean with some rubbish and Debris in the water. The council needs to put up a floating debris collector. Otherwise this beach is a perfect spot for a midweek swim.
Paul A — Google review
Pieces of material containing asbestos (mainly fibrous cement sheeting) have been found regularly at Little Bay Beach since an initial report in August 2020. Randwick City Council is continuing to inspect and remove visible material and is also developing options for longer term remediation. Find out more about Council's asbestos management at Little Bay Beach. Features Little Bay Beach is one of Sydney's undiscovered jewels. A 'secret' beach popular with locals, it's well protected from large coastal swells making it perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Its golden sands are popular with families while the rock ledges to the north and south are well-known, but sometimes dangerous, fishing spots. Access to the secluded beach is via a steep timber staircase. Take Pine Avenue off Anzac Parade and there is parking on the street. A café is located in the Prince Henry Centre towards the top of the beach near the chapel. Public toilets and change rooms are located on the timber staircase about halfway down to the beach. The beach is not patrolled by Randwick City Lifeguards or Surf Lifesavers. Dogs, alcohol and glass bottles are not permitted on the beach area...
John K — Google review
Great little beach, however parking looks to be a major limiting factor, especially on weekends. To get there you have to follow a path thru the golf course and then stairs down to the sand. There are plenty of rocks to explore on either side of the beach. There are unisex public toilets and a water bubbler.
Andy P — Google review
Very good. Calm . Less people. Few cafe accessible. Don't expect more than this from a less crowded beach 🏖️. Golf ⛳ is the thing that you should be mindful about. Don't walk in the golf course. Not safe. It has a playground. No issue with 4p car park on Saturday. Overall good Thanks for reading my review. Have a good day

Obelisk Beach is a small, secluded cove in Sydney known for its relaxed clothing-optional atmosphere and natural beauty. It's a popular spot for swimming, snorkeling, and nude sunbathing. The beach is bordered by rocks and vegetation, giving it a hidden feel. Accessible via a bush trail from Chowder Bay Road, Obelisk Beach offers visitors a chance to enjoy the serene surroundings away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Beautiful little beach worth the visit. Great spot to be walking and exploring around.

Joshua C — Google review
Obelisk Beach, located in Mosman on Sydney Harbour, is a small, secluded, and picturesque cove known for its peaceful atmosphere and stunning views. It's a designated clothing-optional beach, which is a key part of its identity and a reason why many people visit. Here's a review of the beach and its surrounding areas. The Beach Itself * Atmosphere: Obelisk Beach is a quiet retreat away from the more crowded city beaches. It's often described as tranquil and offers a peaceful setting for sunbathing, swimming, and relaxing. The clothing-optional nature of the beach means it attracts a specific crowd, including naturists and members of the LGBTQ+ community. This can create a welcoming and friendly vibe, though it may not be suitable for all visitors, particularly families with young children. * Seclusion and Views: Nestled on the southern side of Middle Head, the beach is bordered by rocks and vegetation, giving it a hidden, "secret" feel. The views are a major highlight, with excellent vistas across the harbor to Camp Cove, Vaucluse Bay, and Watson's Bay. * Access: Getting to Obelisk Beach requires some effort. There is no direct car access, and visitors must park on the street above and then walk down a series of steps to the sand. While this contributes to its secluded nature, it's a factor to consider for those with mobility issues or a lot of gear. * Amenities: It's important to note that Obelisk Beach has very few amenities. There are no lifeguards, public restrooms, or food outlets on the beach itself. Visitors are advised to bring everything they need, including water, food, and sunscreen. The calm water conditions make it a good spot for swimming, but caution is still recommended due to the potential for unpredictable rip currents. Surrounding Areas and Activities The area around Obelisk Beach is part of Sydney Harbour National Park, offering a wealth of activities and historical sites to explore. * Walking and Hiking: The beaches and headlands in this area are connected by scenic walking trails. The Bradleys Head to Chowder Bay Walk is a popular choice, offering stunning harbor views, historic military sites, and opportunities for wildlife spotting. You can also explore the military relics and gun emplacements at Middle Head and Georges Head, which provide a glimpse into Sydney's colonial and military past. * Other Beaches: If you're looking for a different beach experience, the Mosman area has plenty of options. Chowder Bay is another beautiful spot with a wharf, baths, and cafes. Balmoral Beach is a much larger and more family-friendly option with a promenade, cafes, and restaurants. * Historic Sites: The area is rich with history. Besides the military fortifications, you can visit the Bradleys Head Amphitheatre for a great lookout and picnic spot. The military history and tunnels are a fascinating part of the local landscape. * Dining and Shopping: While Obelisk Beach is a nature-focused destination, the broader Mosman area offers a vibrant scene with a range of cafes, restaurants, and boutiques, particularly along Military Road. * Taronga Zoo: Just a short distance away is the world-renowned Taronga Zoo, a major attraction with a huge variety of animals and some of the best harbor views in Sydney.

Kutti Beach is a hidden gem nestled between Parsley Bay Reserve and Watsons Bay in Vaucluse, Sydney. Accessible via a narrow staircase near the Vaucluse Amateur Sailing Club, this secluded beach offers clear and pearlescent waters. It's a bit of a challenge to find, but well worth the effort for those seeking a tranquil spot away from the crowds.
It’s more like a private beach. It will be overcrowded sometimes since the beach is quite small. This beach is dog friendly. Furthermore, parking will not be available at end of wharf street however plenty of parking spaces are available on the crescent street.
Sahani P — Google review
Such a beautiful slice of heaven for dogs 🐕 and their families! ☺️ parking might be a bit hard on a hot day but plenty if you park before the dead end street. The stairs down to the beach are very narrow, but only about 10 steps.

Little slice of Eastern Suburbs paradise for you and your fur baby. From the gorgeous tiny gate you enter to the well behaved and friendly dogs in the beach this Sydney harbour beach allows dogs and is a hidden gem for locals 5 stars
Crazy C — Google review
As far as secret Sydney Harbour beaches go, Kutti Beach is right up there. Make your way to the end of Wharf Road in Vaucluse. When you see the wooden boatshed—it’s the Vaucluse Amateur Sailing Club building—look for the gap in the fence and a very narrow wooden staircase heading down. It’s the only way in and out, unless you have quite a few million to buy one of the mansions that overlook the beach. Once you’re there this is a beauty, but not on high tide, when it nearly disappears for a couple of hours. We came mid-tide and it was great. Locals use it as an unofficial off-lead dog beach, which is cool with us, but as such it does get very popular from around 9am. The early birds get the free local street parking. There are no facilities of any kind, but it’s worth it and we’d return for sure.
Jackie M — Google review

Shame that this beach is technically an on-leash beach! Such a good protected place to let puppies run around and have a swim. Maybe if there was a better fence between the sand and the private property the council would consider changing the designation. None the less, clean water, choice of rocks or sand to lie on. Street parking limited but safe to walk down Wharf St (?) with your dogs.

Washaway Beach is a hidden gem among Sydney's beaches, offering seclusion and tranquility in the midst of the bustling city. This clothing-optional beach provides a peaceful escape, although it may require sunbathing on the rocks due to shifting tides. The beach's name reflects its tendency to disappear at high tide, adding an element of mystery and adventure to reaching it.
this is such a beautiful beach! you do need to walk down some rocks to get there, but totally worth it in my opinion (this is a nudist beach)
Marissa V — Google review
An amazing tranquil beach! It’s definitely not the easiest to get to with approximately 6 minute bush walk followed by a fairly steep climb down to the beach, but well worth it if you can do it! I’m pretty fit and agile, so I’m not 100% sure how those less agile got onto the beach. There’s no toilets, no change rooms, no facilities, no lifeguards. It’s just pure nature! This is also a clothing optional beach!
Daniel R — Google review
Pretty big beach with lots of room to roam and a huge cave to protect you from the rain and sun!! It's an "unofficial" nude beach which is even better. Definently only for capable walkers, the track down is a bit rough and to get on the beach you have to climb down the cliff face which is safe but a bit steep. Remember to take all your rubbish with you, we dont want our beautiful beaches ruined or sea life polluted and dead.
Ivy R — Google review
The beach in the area Dobroyd Head, turn in after Aboriginal Rock Engravings and follow the path on maps. The path to get to the beach is very rocky and can be dangerous (wasn’t able to go down). You can enjoy nice view from the cliff. Ps: the grotto point lighthouse is not worth the walk, better go back to main track after the Washaway Beach.
Wahyuni A — Google review
Beautiful and quiet beach. Worth a visit during sunrise /sunset with fantastic view. You can also try walking the trail from Spit to Manly.
Nguyen M — Google review
You need to visit the beach prior to 2pm as you will miss the sun coming down on the opposing side, that’s if your there for the beach experience. It will take you approximately 10-15mins to walk to the beach from your car, the cliff edge to climb down is not suited for those with height issues or are not mobile enough to climb up or down. Great panoramic views reaching across from Manly to Balmoral.
S. M — Google review
A muddy, moderately hard walk down to the cliff top overlooking the beach. Gorgeous lookout, however washaway Beach lived up to its name - completely washed away with angry looking waves crashing on the cliffs. May be a victim of our recent storms. Not a place to go for a beach experience at the moment. Great for views
Kristina C — Google review
Australia is full of beaches everywhere and this one we could say it’s just one more into that list, but we wouldn’t be fair to its beauty. There is a path to arrive to it that it’s slightly tough at some points but with good shoes should be enough ( I was actually in flip flops) and at the very end you need to climb an easy wall ( at least in the walk I know ). Anyway, the beach is stunning and never too crowded and it kinds of give you the feeling of being completely on holidays while you were 10 min before stuck in the traffic. I really liked and I hope you will do if you ever have time to pay it a visit.

Newport Beach is just 5 Beaches before arriving at Palm Beach, where " Home and Away" TV is depicted. On the point ...you can see the Lighthouse looking North....a walk will see you ascend to a beautiful 360* vista . Newport Beach will give you the chance to enjoy Surfing.....just remember to swim between the Flags....check at the Surf Club on the beach the life savers are there. No flags...don't swim. A Bus trip from Sydney ( Wynyard Rail Station) will take you all the way to Palm Beach and return....you will pass many Beaches on the way and don't forget your Camera/ Smartphone. There are many choices of food places to eat at all the beaches, from Take Away to dine in. Just ask anyone one the bus.....to tell you about the places you are to pass or reach.....these bus riders ( locals) will willing open up, as these are the best beaches in Sydney....and the best places to live at. If you're visiting more than one beaches, like me, let me suggest something. From Newport Beach, there is a lovely coastal walk to Bilgola Beach with benches to have a rest and some excellent viewpoints only to enjoy the scenery or take photos as well. Walking up on the stairs and looking back, the long sandy shore opens up for you. Some people are playing volleyballs, while others are waiting in the water with their surfboards to the perfect waves. The water is usually rough, but there are lifeguards. Of course, it doesn’t mean that is recommended to inexperienced swimmers to make the first strokes there. For that purpose, there is a rock pool. With the parking, I can’t help, since I’m using public transport. Sometimes it is much less hassle, and if you don’t want to carry half of the household with you, it is comfortable, and you can avoid the frustration searching a parking spot in vain. Easy access to this beach, close to Barrenjoey road if you are driving, with a large car park, or catch the bus, lots of bus stops. Close to the shops, a good Coles express and other coffee shops and restaurants. A large playground with lots of seating, usually full of day trippers on weekends. The beach is long, well patrolled but can be choppy and rough depending on weather. Surf club with good, clean changing rooms. A popular beach.
