Nestled in the vibrant Haymarket area, The Eight is a culinary gem that boasts an impressive dining space adorned in sleek red and black decor. With room for 750 guests, this restaurant offers a vast menu featuring both traditional and contemporary Chinese dishes. A highlight of the experience is their lunchtime yum cha, where attentive waiters glide through the dining room with trolleys brimming with delectable treats like prawn dumplings, barbecue pork buns, and crispy spring rolls.
Very high quality yum Cha - Probably one of the best yum cha I have ever had, and I have been to many in Sydney. A lot of variety with very generous serves. Pricing at 5 adults $140 total, 8 shared dishes. The roast duck amazing. Rice noodle and pork buns perfect. I can’t wait to go back again and try everything else. Would have had more photos but we ate it so quickly.
Amber W — Google review
This place is great for yum cha with a good variety of choices. The egg tart was warm, which I appreciated, but it was a bit dry—I was hoping for a creamier texture. One downside was the service. The staff were quite hard to get attention from and seemed disinterested in serving us, which affected the overall experience.
Fudaotwosiblings L — Google review
Excellent and delicious food. Cannot go wrong with xo pipis and crab noodles. Other standouts were the truffle scallop and wasabi steak. Service was fantastic and good came out quickly. Staff were very nice and accomodating.
Agnes — Google review
Conveniently located on the third floor of Market City in Chinatown. The prices are on the higher side, but the quality of the dim sum was good. The traditional trolley service is wonderfully vibrant; we were instantly 'bombarded' by carts filled with delicious-looking dishes like shu mai, rice rolls, beef stew, and pork ribs. It's easy to get carried away by the sight of all the food, so remember to pace yourself and order a bit less initially so you save room for their great desserts! One skip, though: the congee was quite plain and light on the preserved egg and meat. Great place for larger groups.
A W — Google review
I love eating yum cha and have eaten at quite a few places. I would say that The Eight is one of the better ones I have been too. We came mid morning on a Saturday. Although there was a short line formed outside, we didn't need to wait as there were only two of us. The dining area is huge and it was very busy and full. All tables were occupied and constantly turned over. The food was delicious! We got a mix of steamed, fried and dessert dishes. The prawn dumplings were plump and generously filled with whole prawns to give it a nice texture. The pork and prawn dumplings were juicy and also had a nice textural feel to them. I found the dumplings here to be bigger compared to other yum cha places I have been to which I really appreciated. Prices are a bit more expensive however a lot of the dumplings had 4 serves and were charged as medium. Service was excellent too. It was very attentive and staff paid attention to detail. Chilli and soy sauce was automatically placed on our table, tea was constantly topped up and dishes cleared. This was all done subtly. Staff were very friendly, courteous and patient. They were all working hard. I had a really great time dining here and would highly recommend it!
Map R — Google review
Had an event there. Sit down dinner. Food was good. Maybe restaurant lack of staff as the empty plates were not retried on time. Hence table a bit packed. Overall food was ok.
Alain B — Google review
Meals take a while to arrive but worth the wait. I had the Yang Chow fried rice which came with chopped charsil and small shrimp. Well seasoned but not a lot of meat. The duck and scallop soup was most disappointing; it just hot & sour soup with some extra tidbits but cost 10 times more. Service was nothing special.
Tom L — Google review
The food here is worth the wait! Depending on the time, you can be waiting a while but I always forget once the food comes around. This is one of my favourite yum cha places. It never disappoints.

Chinese restaurant
Nestled atop Piccadilly Tower in the bustling heart of Sydney's CBD, Palace Chinese Restaurant is a culinary gem that invites you to indulge in both traditional and contemporary Cantonese cuisine. With an expansive dining area adorned with charming Chinese motifs, this restaurant offers a delightful atmosphere for any occasion—be it a casual lunch or an elegant dinner. During lunchtime, guests can savor the vibrant yum cha experience as carts filled with delectable dishes glide through the room.
The restaurant is so popular, especially during weekend lunch time. A bit noisy and crowded. But the food is great and satisfying. Staff are very friendly and thoughtful. We had prawn dumplings, pork dim sum, roast pork, beef tripes, chicken feet, bbq pork rice noodle, mushroom bean curd rolls, egg tarts, and deep fried taro duck. All were amazing! Very high quality and authentic, making me feel homesick! Will definitely come back to try more!

Delicious food in the heart of the Sydney CBD. Food is hot and service is fast. Would’ve liked a few more options with the dishes available, but it’s definitely worth going. Great for kids as they have the cutest desserts, the pink piggy puddings were an absolute highlight!
Alice F — Google review
Food here was very nice. Some dishes were kind slightly bland. The ladies that served us were super friendly. Would definitely come back here again in the future
Myst — Google review
Recently dined here and it exceeded my expectations! When you first walk in you are greeted with a bustling restaurant, tables chatting and the smell of fresh dumpling wafting through the air. We were seated quickly and swapped with carts of options. Everything we ordered tasted fresh and perfectly steamed unlike some other yum cha places that often serve mushy dumplings. Staff were very nice and did not mind that we stayed a little longer. Would definitely recommend.
Agnes — Google review
had a wonderful dining experience here to celebrate a friend's birthday recently! the food was prepared fresh and we ordered the palace banquet menu, I enjoyed the dishes especially the stir fried pipis in XO sauce, steamed fish, and the honey king prawns. the atmosphere was really warm and the staff were efficient, helpful, and cheerful especially our server Bonnie.

Pretty reliable yum-cha, and conveniently located in the heart of the CBD. Pricing is normal for yum-cha (I.e. not cheap!).
Matthew Y — Google review
Palace has been around for a long time … it is ok but don’t expect too much . Allow 30- 40 dollars per person . Yum Cha is not cheap so comparable to other places .
Jason J — Google review
Sunday 21st July 2024 Been to the restaurant a couple of times with friends for yum cha and on this occasion, we visited for dinner and ordered a variety of food from crispy pork belly, deep fired taro, battered fish pieces, sweet and sour pork, oyster omelette, and a couple of other items. All the food was great, freshly prepared and served promptly and we were all happy with the taste and quality of the food. Great place in the CBD with many options to choose from.

Takeout Restaurant
Mr. Wong is a popular modern Cantonese restaurant located in Sydney, offering a diverse menu that includes dim sum and classic mud crab in a lavish French-colonial setting. The restaurant is known for its stylish CBD lunching experience, with an evergreen mod-Chinese ambiance and a bustling atmosphere that attracts both suits and fashionistas. Chef Dan Hong's Chinese roasted duck, pork buns, wok-fried XO pippies, and salt and pepper calamari are among the crowd favorites.
Next-Level Chinese Fine Dining! Mr. Wong is truly one of a kind — a fine dining experience that takes Chinese cuisine to the next level. The service was spot-on, the food was absolutely delicious, and the presentation was beautiful. Every detail — from the cocktails to the atmosphere — was perfectly done. Before visiting, we didn’t expect Chinese food could be elevated to this level, but Mr. Wong proved us wrong. All the flavours, freshness, and creativity were there. Highly recommend everyone to try it at least once — it’s an experience you won’t forget!
JayJay T — Google review
I attended lunch on two separate days, and had two polarised experiences. The first was pleasant, with excellent customer service from all the waiting staff who served me. The Peking Duck was excellent though not as crispy as I've had at other places. The second visit was less than ideal. The waiter had said to try the steamed dim sum platter on my next visit, so that is what I ordered. However the waitress suggested that I get half steamed and half fried, so I agreed. The two plates were delivered and were delicious (the fried ones were a tad too salty for my taste). When I got the bill, it showed that I was charged for two separate plates at $36 each, which is $14 more than the steamed dim sum platter I had asked for. When I pointed out this discrepancy to the hostess, she was very dismissive and said, "You got three more dim sum than the steamed dim sum platter." As per the menu I was shown and the one online, it's 8 pieces and I received 8 pieces of dim sum without being told that it would be a more expensive meal. The hostess advised that feedback would be given to the waitress, but that was the end of the conversation. So beware of any suggestions to your order because you won't be advised of the additional charges as they are not transparent with their upselling.
Fiona — Google review
We enjoyed the vibe here with great service. No waiting time around 1pm. located in a low visitor flow area, you might miss out on it easily. Majority dishes are marvelous, however Kung Bao Chicken is not authentic, too much seasoning has been applied to make it salty. The pork hock on the menu in Chinese is inaccurate, wasn't what we anticipated when staff served the dish.
Gwen S — Google review
Mr. Wong's delivers a fantastic Cantonese dining experience with a vibrant atmosphere and top-notch service. The staff were attentive and made us feel welcome from start to finish. The ambience is stylish and perfect for a special night out. However, while most dishes were delicious, others like the pork fell a bit short on overall flavor and didn’t quite meet expectations. Overall, a great spot worth visiting, but the food could use a touch more consistency.
Yihong L — Google review
Excellent food and great service! The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and everything was well prepared. Special thanks to Giulia for her friendly and professional service — she made our experience even better. Highly recommend!
Linda L — Google review
Have been to Mr Wong many times and it's incredible every single time. The atmosphere, decor and vibe is still special and unique. The famous dishes are famous for a reason, don't leave without trying the Duck Pancakes, Dim Sum and the incredible Fried Ice Cream. The glacier toothfish is also a must! Perfect for a special occasion or a nice night out.
Eliot O — Google review
We came here without a reservation and we were seated up at the kicthen - dinner & a show! We went for the banquet option which was delicious and there was plenty of food! Shoutout to our waiter Adam who was so lovely! He gave us a recommendation for our trip to NZ (if you're reading this, we went to Botswana Butchery and it was 5🌟 - thanks you)
Grainne K — Google review
The venue & decor is gorgeous, service friendly. Unfortunately I wouldn't come back because while I was hoping for a nice, treat-yourself, lunch, everything came out within 5 minutes of me ordering, which I did not like. That made it 5 star prices served like fast food. The kingfish was lovely but came out immediately, less than 2 mins, from the kitchen, so I assume was sat there waiting. The prawn toast very greasy and you couldn't taste the fois gras at all. I didn't finish it. Cheung Fung was nice but nothing better than you get in Chinatown. It was the most expensive meal I had in Sydney but my least favourite unfortunately.

Chinese restaurant
East Phoenix is a spacious and modern Chinese restaurant located in the East Village. The venue boasts dim lighting and floor-to-ceiling windows, providing a sleek atmosphere. As a member of The Phoenix Group family, East Phoenix offers an extensive selection of yum cha dishes that are both delicious and exotic. The restaurant prides itself on efficient service and is well-known for its reliably tasty interpretations of traditional Chinese fare. Customers can expect to find many trolleys circulating the dining area with various food offerings.
I recently visited East Phoenix for their Yum Cha experience with a group of five, and the $260 price tag was absolutely justified. We enjoyed an impressive variety of small dishes—so many that I lost count! Each dish was made with care, bursting with flavor, and showcased the quality and authenticity you’d expect from a top-tier Yum Cha spot. From the dumplings to the buns, every bite was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. If you’re searching for an authentic Yum Cha experience with excellent food quality and great value for the price, I’d highly recommend East Phoenix.

The foods was yummy and good and the portion was good. the place big and no waiting list, and the staffs were helpful and kind, I will recommend to all for Chinese dine in here with family or big party
Rose V — Google review
We went to this place in the neighborhood for dinner. The spacious place and food are great. Service is pretty attentive. Food was good, not overly top notch.
Ramesh A — Google review
The food is delicious, but the price is TERRIBLE. you pay for the amount of times on the plate rather the plate itself. We bought 2 plates of mango pancakes which automatically comes with 2 on each. They charged $12 for each pancake and never specified that that’s how it worked. Again, food was great, service was great, but the price is intense and not worth it. $99 for barely any food.

Great place to have Yum Cha for a Sunday family lunch. Great atmosphere, the place is full of life. The food keeps on coming with many choices. Great staff and very good service
Ross M — Google review
Service was all over the shop, but the food was a solid 11/10. Generous portions, flavour in every bite and cocktails with a bang! My favourite part ... Fortune cookies, 🥠 there's something nostalgic about it.
Anne-Maree — Google review
The staff were incredibly friendly and provided excellent service throughout our visit. The food was absolutely delicious, offering a variety of flavors that pleased every palate. Overall, it was a great dining experience that I would highly recommend!
Esther K — Google review
Another great spot from the Phoenix Group for yumcha. Good choice if you're looking for friendly service, unlike some places with less-than-welcoming staff. Whilst all dishes were exceptionally good, the Yumcha experience was a bit hit-or-miss though; the kitchen seemed slow on variety, and staff/ customers felt the frustration. 凤爪 (Chicken Feet) were especially soft tender and well cooked.

Sky Phoenix, located in the heart of Sydney's CBD, has been a favorite dining spot for over a decade. Tucked away on level 6 of Westfield, this contemporary restaurant offers classic Chinese dishes such as Peking duck and yum cha in a modern setting. Despite its central location, many may have overlooked this hidden gem. The restaurant is known for its delectable Siu Mai (pork dim sum) and other yum cha delights.
Tried this place for dim sum and really enjoyed it! Everything was fresh and tasty, especially the har gow and siu mai. Staff were friendly and the place was clean with a nice vibe. Will definitely come back!

Located on the 6th Floor Food Court at Westfield Sydney, Cnr Pitt Street Mall & Market Street, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺. I have been to this restaurant a couple of times now. I love the food, it’s top notch, so delicious but the service has a lot to be desired. The first time I came was with some friends. There was maybe one or two other tables occupied and it was about 8.15pm and we felt like the staff just wanted us out of there so they could close up. We loved the food but the staff were just standing around talking and we didn’t get a smile the whole time. It just felt like they didn’t really want us there. I just felt for the price you pay for the food, you should get top notch service and you don’t. The second time I came was by myself and it was during the yum cha service at lunch. It was very busy and rushed. Again no smiles. But again, the food is delicious 😋. Therefore, I would recommend this restaurant for the food, not so much the service and don’t expect it to be cheap. Would give a Thumbs Up for the food!! 👍👍

So crowded...good for large groups. Sago mango pudding so delicious. Skip the salt and pepper squids... Updt 09/08/25 Evening dinner, relaxed setting and so much less noisy compared to the Yamaha for lunch. Food is quite light but delicious. Price on the expensive side
Rahul G — Google review
What an amazing dining experience! Came here with a couple of colleagues for a weekday lunch and it has to be one of the best, and most memorable, meals during the week in the city. Take a seat at your allocated table and indulge in the seemingly endless range of options being wheeled around on trolleys by the staff. It’s a fast paced affair, so don’t debate your selection for too long, and before you know it your table will be full of various plates of meats, steamed delights and even sweet treats. As the meal goes on you do have to be quite firm declining additional dishes, else you’d eat until you pop, but the fact everything is so tasty and cooked to perfection doesn’t help. Payment is at the till when you exit and it was surprisingly good value for the amount of food we got through. Absolutely will be returning and would recommend it as a lunch to anyone, brilliant!

09.2025 As always good place for relax dim sum lunch on weekend. I felt they might have changed the recipes or the cook was different person now. Something was changed and new for me. Shrimps were so nice, some menus were unfamiliar with me. I was sorry I couldn’t find chicken feet ‘豉汁蒸鳳爪’ this time. Hope it comes back on the menu please. 09.2024 Stable good food and service. But they don’t accept a reservation for less than 5 persons now… that is inconvenient. 12.2023 I renewed my experience. Visited there at 11:30 on Sunday in December. Restaurant was almost full and I could barely find a table. Food Trollies came often. Most of the foods were fresh cooked and steamed. Because people picked up them soon and the restaurant filled them everytime. That was good point to go there in holiday season. 2022visit Good place to enjoy casual dim sum for weekend lunch. Cost for 50 per person. Went there at 11:30 on Saturday. Four or five trolleies came with different foods and moved around in proper paces. Servers speak Chinese and I had to guess what they say, that was interesting experience. I wish if I could speak Chinese. But after 12:00, many trolleies only with same kinds of streamed dim sum. Had to wait for 15 minutes to find what we wanted. But a so kind staff offered us to bring what we liked. I loved her professional skill ,care and smile.

Regularly voted as one of the top Yum Cha spots in Sydney and an excellent choice for Sunday lunch. Located on L6 of Westfield, the space is large & bright and spacious. Online booking available for groups of 6 or more. Lots of variety and choice of freshly prepared steaming hot delights from the continues stream and jostling trolleys. And the tea was regularly filled up. Busting atmosphere and friendly service. Everything was excellent and we can’t wait to return again. Highly recommended!

Mama Mulan is a trendy Chinese restaurant located in Chatswood, offering a modern twist on traditional Chinese cuisine. The elegant 180-seater eatery features striking interiors and serves up an array of seafood, meat, and handmade noodle dishes alongside cocktails and wine. The restaurant's yum cha menu includes classic dishes like prawn har gow, shallot pancakes, potstickers, and chicken feet with sesame sauce.

The food was good, service was good. Our favourite was the fried rice, good texture and not too oily. The lobster was fresh, like it was moving. The ribs was ok, nothing special, same with the duck. The sweet and sour eggplant was unevenly cooked, some piece was soft and some piece was harder. Overall, with the service and atmosphere, the price is reasonable.

Mama Mulan presents as an up scale Asian restaurant, it is not fine dining but it offers a nice comfort environment and experience to have dinner or to celebrate with friends . It would be a fantastic place if the food was also ‘wow’ . It was ok but it was ok. With the prices they charge I felt it should be been better. Servings are not that generous. With the noodles per picture below - don’t bother as the noodle ball is deep fried and the sauce is pretty bland. Wished my coke was cold as well.

We arrived at 12:15pm. I couldn’t make a reservation online or through the phone, so we decided to walk in. We were greeted warmly and we were told to wait for half an hour, however it didn’t take us too long, after 10: to 15 minutes they got us seated down on the table, we ordered some beers and glasses of wine to start with. We then decided to try their dim sum. The dim sum were served freshly and they were very nice maybe a little bit over steamed. as the dumplings break quite easily. Apart from that, they tasted delicious. We also ordered Mulan signature fried rice, I like the crunch and the crispy ingredients the fried rice. We have some beer and wine to go with the lunch. We finished off with desserts, cream custard and also fried ice cream served with pop corns. Indeed a very good lunch.

We have been here a few times before. But today was quite a different experience. We found a large wooden clip in our steamed fish dish. When alerted the staff, they promptly removed the dish from the table, denying us the opportunity to take a photo. No one bothered to address the issue. They did not charge us for the dish. I see other reviews with similar experience.

Visited this place for the second time yesterday, but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be returning, even as an Asian. The Kiss On Fire cocktail lacked refinement and was certainly not worth $21. The deep-fried crispy egg noodles were a huge letdown. I couldn’t even bring myself to take a second bite. One type of dumpling in the mixed dumpling platter tasted so unpleasant that both my partner and I couldn’t finish it. Ironically, the deep-fried ice cream dessert was probably the most enjoyable dish of the night, though that’s not saying much. While the food was served very quickly, I found the service disrespectful. The waiter rushed to clear the table as soon as he could, and even took my plate before I had finished; I had to stop him. Despite the nice fit-out, the overall experience felt unrefined and rushed, with food quality falling well short of what I remembered from years ago. Unfortunately it’s no longer worth the price or the visit.

had an unforgettable experience here! The food was absolutely delicious—every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. A huge shoutout to **Jerry**, our personal server, who made the event even more special. He was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a perfect dining experience. We were seated in a lovely **private room** that was spacious, airy, and elegantly decorated—ideal for a cozy yet upscale meal. The ambiance was just right, making our celebration even more memorable. Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for **great food, outstanding service, and a fantastic atmosphere**. Will definitely be back! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Always in love with this place and have been visiting the restaurant for many years! Lucky enough, they are now celebrating the 23rd years anniversary so we got 20%off for all dishes ( weekday only) For desserts, we ordered mango pancake, mango pomelo sago and sesame deep fried dumpling this time. Yummy food as always and friendly staff! Free fruit platter for us !

Went there on Father’s Day, very busy restaurant. Waited for an hour to get seated. Quick service and nice food. My husband’s favourite is the pork bone with black bean sauce. He said it’s probably the best in Sydney. Kids favourite is egg tart. Reasonable price with great food.

This is our second time to visit Golden Unicorn for dim sum lunch. It was a Thursday so we were promptly seated without a queue. I quite like the way they carry dim sum around the dining hall in heated carts to keep things hot and fresh. We tried various dishes like hargow, beef rice roll, deep fried and taro dumplings. All very delicious. We will be back!

Came on Sunday for Yumcha, but due to staff shortage they didn't have many Yumcha carts being pushed around. Waitress said can order from menu and was recommending us dishes. Would be helpful if the menu have photos or descriptions what the dish is as a number of dish names aren't self explanatory so no idea what they are. Food was good.

Came here with a group 6 and a new born on a weekend. There was a variety of dim sum to choose from, and can order from the trolley or menu. I highly recommend the egg tart and 炸兩 (chinese doughnut wrapped with noodles). The prawn dumpling was also quite nice. Great value for money. Staff was friendly and there's adequate seating. We didn't need to wait. I wouldn't mind coming back to try their dinner banquet menu. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant, especially if you are close by! Parking tip: try to come after 12pm, so you can find street parking or try a few rounds at the car parks along Anzac Parade.😋👍

Highlight of the night is the steamed mud crab with egg white & Chinese wine, which is fresh and yummy. Soup, scallops, sweet & sour pork and spring rolls are authentic and delicious too. The service is great. Overall, it’s a great experience. Highly recommended if you are looking for traditional Cantonese Chinese cuisine.

The Dynasty Chinese Restaurant is one of a variety of restaurants and cafes on offer at Canterbury Leagues Club, 26 Bridge Road. Belmore, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺. It’s a beautifully designed restaurant and the staff are efficient but not overly welcoming and friendly. I usually come to the club with a large social group of people with disabilities who usually eat at the bistro on nights before going to a show. So, I like to order takeout from the Dynasty restaurant and take my dinner to eat with my group because I prefer Chinese food. The prices are pretty expensive but the food is delicious, I have never had a bad meal there. The restaurant also accepts the Canterbury Leagues Club membership card that gives you the membership discount. I would recommend for the food, but the staff have a lot to be desired. Average! 🤷‍♀️😋

I’ve eaten at this restaurant so many times and it’s always different but never one that left me feeling like I’ll never come back. Today Yum Cha wasn’t the best but their customer service was fantastic and whatever issues we had with a dish they quickly replaced. I’d probably recommend you come here for dinner because it’s much better than the lunch but that’s just my personal preference considering I’ve tried both but keep in mind they have been open for years and it’s the same friendly staff.

Came for dinner. I have heard their yum cha is pretty good. We ordered steamed prawn dumplings and they were pretty huge. Mains were sizzling steak and salt & pepper prawns. Both meals cooked perfectly. Service was pretty good too

The Dynasty Restaurant is located within Canterbury Leagues Club. Having yum cha here was an enjoyable experience. We came at 11am which is when the restaurant opens and were promptly seated. You don't need to book. The restaurant is quite big but fills up quickly. We were offered drinks and then given time to settle in and view the menu. Dining here, you place your order on a paper menu and won't have the authentic experience of ladies pushing dim sum carts. Once we decided what we wanted to eat, we gave our order to a staff member. They viewed it and very politely checked if it really was everything we wanted to order as it seemed like a lot. We appreciated this care as many places wouldn't. The wait time for food was good and it came out steadily. It was hot and fresh. Each item was tasty. What I really liked was that each basket and dish had four dumplings/ serves whereas a number of other yum cha places I have been to tend to have 3. The price was really good too with each of us paying $41. There was a lot of food. Tea was topped up regularly. Staff were accommodating of our requests and did so courteously. I would recommend dining here for yum cha.
Map R — Google review
From the outset, it appeared to be a cool venue. When you enter however, the lighting is very dim and the overall atmosphere is dark. On Sunday morning, it quickly became quiet to crowded around 11AM. Was advised seating is for 1.5 hours although in the billing paper they wrote 1 hour which was strange. Unlike other yum cha places, order was primarily by order paper rather than circulating trolleys although there were limited number of them from time to time. Prawn related items had generous filling. Disappointed with xiao long bao. One item we ordered didn't go through so we waited 30 min before deciding to pay and leave. Perhaps worth a visit if you are nearby but chance of returning seems shallow.

The Royal Palace Seafood Restaurant, a spacious Cantonese eatery with a capacity of 600, has taken over the location previously occupied by the renowned Golden Century. This new establishment offers traditional yum cha, live seafood options, and late-night dining. The menu features classic Cantonese dishes such as lobster noodles with ginger and shallots, Peking duck with pancakes, and Singapore chilli crab. The restaurant is already gaining positive attention for its excellent food quality and authentic Hong Kong-style yum cha.
Arrived before 11:30 AM on Sunday to avoid the queue. Most of the dim sum dishes were really delicious. The highlight for me was the spring roll wrapped in red cheong fun—it was incredibly tasty and not too salty, just perfectly balanced. The service was also good. Although the prices are a bit on the higher side, I’d definitely come back again for another meal.

All the dumplings we tried here were the best I've had for yum cha. It tastes really well seasoned. It is definitely on the pricier end as we didn't order much but it was an easy $200 for 2 people. It was really busy but the staff are really trying their best for good service. The dessert options are only 2-3 but I enjoyed is especially as it's not too sweet. Room for improvement would be more variety

A decent yum cha is always worth the wait. We stood in line (disorganised chaos) and made sure to grab our ticket as soon as we arrived. Expect to wait at least 45mins or more if you're wanting weekend yumcha and cannot make it there to queue up at 930am. Food was great but the whole experience was a little dampened by the lack of flow from the servers (had to flag them down to request food).

We had a wonderful dim sum experience at Royal Palace Seafood Restaurant. Everything was freshly prepared and beautifully presented. The siu mai topped with fish roe were juicy and full of flavour, and the prawn rice noodle rolls were smooth and perfectly sauced. The roasted duck was a highlight—crispy skin, tender meat, and rich sauce poured right at the table. We also enjoyed the sticky rice in lotus leaf, crispy pork belly, and deep-fried wontons, which were light and crunchy. The service was fast, and the atmosphere was lively but organised. A great spot for a weekend yum cha with friends or family. Highly recommended if you’re looking for traditional Cantonese dim sum in Sydney!

Located in Haymarket, Sydney, East Ocean Seafood Restaurant is a popular choice for yum cha with its bustling dining hall and traditional Chinese dishes. The restaurant has a large capacity but can get busy, so it's recommended to make a booking. Despite the crowds, the trolley-carts navigate through the space offering an array of dishes. Even if seated in a quieter area, guests won't miss out on the delicious offerings.
The place wasn’t busy when we got here for dinner. There were 7 of us and we ordered 7 dishes. I’d say the food didn’t disappoint. The steamed fish was fresh and the sauce complemented it brought out the taste. It’s not overly salty at least. The fish was my favorite and another one was the crispy duck. The meat was fresh and the crispy crumbs surrounded it added crunchiness to it. However, it could get a tad too oily the more you had. The seafood tofu and prawns were average to me. Vegetables were not overly oily. The crab meat soup was flavorful and not too salty. Overall this was a good dining experience to me.
Zzz — Google review
Located in the heart of Sydney's Chinatown, East Ocean Seafood Restaurant offers a pretty authentic Chinese dining experience. The atmosphere is exactly what you might expect from a typical Chinese restaurant, complete with stained cushion chairs that reflect years of use and aging. The food here is decent, though not exceptional. If you're craving Chinese cuisine, this restaurant is a viable option. However, be prepared for some dishes, especially the seafood, to come with a hefty price tag. One notable downside is the fried noodles and fried rice, which I found to be quite bland and under-seasoned, bordering on tasteless. This is an area where I hope the restaurant can improve. Overall, East Ocean Seafood Restaurant provides a reasonable dining experience for those looking to satisfy their Chinese food cravings, but don't expect anything over the top

Food is decent but not fresh. Some dishes were still served a bit cold. The hygiene here is questionable. We were served cups that were greasy.

Had yum cha with a friend. Food was quite nice but the service was very slow, even on a day when it was not too bus. My friend had ordered a bowl of boiled rice but we had to chase it up 3 times. It eventually arrived after around 20 minutes. One of the trolleys came past but had run out of the beef rice noodle rolls. She offered to place an order for me. 30 mins later, we had finished everything else and the beef rice noodles still hadn't arrived. We were about to leave when a waitress asked if we wanted anything else. We mentioned our beef rice noodle order to her. The waitress said it should be in the trolley and went over to check... it was indeed sitting in the trolley all this time, but nobody had bothered to come around to our table. Overall the food was quite nice and with a special promotion of 20% cash discount this month it works out to be good value. Atmosphere was ok but not too lively like other yum cha restaurants. Unfortunately, it's the service that is letting it all down. My table would have ordered more if the service was consistent and the food came out faster.
Kewl88 — Google review
I like the food here and service is on par. The server and boss does the job, not rude but they are doing their job as it is. Most server doesn't speak cantonese but it is okay. Food is good enough. My favorite was their pork rib and charsiu bun. Place need a bit of cleaning. They need to stop using one time use plastic utensils. Just lower your expectation. The great thing is no queue needed on Sat lunch time. Need to cut down on using plastics here.

The restaurant specializes in live seafood cooking, which is always fresh and of God quality. You can also enjoy a variety of traditional dishes made with seasonal ingredients, such as dim sum, barbecue, and stir-fries. The decor is elegant and spacious, with a touch of oriental charm. The service is friendly and attentive. I didn't see any wheelchair access at first glance.

This restaurant is in my top 2 yumcha places in Sydney - a bit pricey but worth the money!! The interior was clean and well decorated, and the yumcha ladies were non stop pushing around the carts so you won’t be missing out on any food. We arrived at around 10:30 and the restaurant was pretty empty but it got packed very quickly. Spent around 80 bucks for 2 people. The standout dishes were the bbq pork puffs, taro puffs and chive dumplings which were so plump and juicy I’m still thinking about them…

Vinh Phat is a seafood restaurant in Sydney that is popular for its Chinese cuisine and dim sum. The menu features many types of seafood, as well as chicken feet. The restaurant can be busy, so it may be best to book a table in advance.
Long Live the King! The OG of yum cha, it was here first, and is still the best. My favourite yum cha. The rating should be much higher. It’s an institution, and is my go to in Cabra. Today I had the prawn dumplings which were excellent. The sesame prawn roll was amazing. The steamed pork buns which i ordered at the start, as they are not usually on the trolleys were so so good! The mango pancakes were a perfect way to finish. To top it off it is such good value, more than half the price of the northshore of sydney. We paid 60 dollars including drinks for two of us and we were full. Long live the King!

I was served a dish that had a metal scrubber in it. I immediately informed the staff, but instead of apologizing or taking responsibility, the staff member simply said, “There’s nothing we can do,” and walked away. No apology, no explanation — just ignored the situation. Extremely disappointing experience. I will not be coming back.

We have dined here for the past 20 years, ever since their old location, but this time it didn’t quite hit the mark. We ordered our usual go to dishes which included the abalone hotpot, salted fish and egg fried rice, seafood spring rolls amongst other dishes. The abalone hotpot was mostly filled with shiitake mushrooms instead of sea cucumber and abalone, and was not as generous of a portion as it used to be. The chicken and mushroom hotpot had good flavour, but the chicken pieces were small and bony. The fried rice, seafood spring rolls were good however. We were surprised how empty the restaurant was, it used to be must more lively and busy here. Although some dishes were good, others were quite disappointing, especially considering the increase in cost. We hope management takes this feedback into consideration, and improves. We really do miss the fantastic dinner meals we used to have here.

Need to work on their cart service. I came in with my partner and we were seated near the corner towards the bathroom. We didn’t receive any dumpling-cart service for 20 minutes, but the cart went around three times in the same area. We were so hungry and even though there were so many staff on; it didn’t even help with the service. We did get prawn cheung fun and steam vegetables. But it took ages for the cart. People that came after us got dumpling-cart service before us, which made us more frustrated. The chicken feet xiu mai is really good here but I’ve been to better places with great service and equally as good food.
Orady G — Google review
Vinh Phat Dim Sum in Cabramatta is a well-loved spot that delivers a truly authentic dim sum experience. The restaurant is run by Vietnamese-Cantonese people, and you can taste that cultural blend in the food — many of the dishes capture the exact flavors you’d expect from dim sum in Hong Kong. It’s not often you find that level of authenticity outside of Asia. The staff here are multilingual, quick, and friendly, which makes the dining experience smooth and welcoming. If you’re lucky enough to come during non-peak hours, you’ll usually get a table right away. However, if you visit during peak hours, be prepared for a long queue — this place is very popular, and for good reason. In terms of quality, the food is solid and enjoyable, though I’d place it as a middle-class dim sum equivalent to what you’d find in Hong Kong. It’s tasty and satisfying, but not aiming for ultra high-end refinement. Still, it’s a reliable choice when you’re craving dim sum, and the combination of authentic flavors, efficient service, and a bustling atmosphere makes it worth a visit.
Min M — Google review
Vinh Phat is a great place to enjoy an authentic and affordable yumcha with family or friends, with most portions costing around $7-$10 each. A local institution of Cabra, the venue is always busy during the weekends, attracting long queues extending all the way around to the end of the block (they do enforce a 45 minute time limit for diners for this reason), so I'll recommend getting there as early as possible.
Perry H — Google review
Decent price and service, we tried a lot and we actually enjoyed it very much. The taste was great and fresh. Took 30 mins to get into the table as it was on weekend and had a long queue.

I have to admit the food is good here. Too bad the service is nowhere near the taste. 10mins after we were seated, no cart came to offer us food. After that, only the congee cart came 3 times even after we said no. Overall, come here if there is no queue, otherwise, its not worth it.

Nestled in an industrial-chic setting, XOPP by Golden Century (金唐XOPP) is a culinary gem that elevates traditional Chinese cuisine with a modern twist. This vibrant Cantonese restaurant pays homage to its predecessor, Golden Century, particularly with its renowned pippies in XO sauce—an absolute must-try that lives up to the hype.
Food was delicious, ingredients were fresh. It’s hard to find good Chinese food and I was very happy with all dishes. Service was polite, pleasant, courteous and attentive - made sure our orders were correct, and helped us out right away if we had any asks. Loved loved loved this place. My mum didn’t like the prices but she didn’t pay so…. 🤨😌🙏🏻

Was expecting so much for this place since it is in a concept art like location. But first the glasses were all dirty as hell, marks and stains all over. Second were the chopsticks, choice of color was so bad taste, I am from HK so orange chopsticks just made me feel I am in a government facility canteen… services wasn’t good at first until I ordered. Then turn point was definitely the food! Beside the prices nothing wrong. I didn’t order any seafood but after this time I might try them out next time.

Flavours are slightly above average for your Chinese style restaurant, taste is really decent and won’t disappoint. but you really pay for it. 2 people we easily spent over 150 with only tea. The pipis had black spots in them, maybe parasites or poor quality. I will not be coming back.

We stopped by XOPP by Golden Century for yum cha lunch and it definitely lived up to the hype. The space is modern and elegant — the perfect blend of contemporary Sydney vibes with that classic Golden Century flavour we all know and love. The dishes came out fresh, perfectly timed, and beautifully presented. Every bite had that signature balance of texture and flavour — from the delicate dumplings to the crisp, golden bites that reminded us why Golden Century is such an icon. It’s yum cha, but elevated — refined without losing the comfort and tradition that makes it so satisfying. A great spot for a long lunch, catch-up, or if you’re just in the mood for dim sum with a little extra sparkle 🥟✨

XOPP, a Cantonese restaurant located in the bustling heart of the city, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The food surpassed my expectations, with each dish meticulously prepared and bursting with flavor. The Pipi, in particular, stood out as a must-try; its vibrant and rich taste left a lasting impression. Service was impressively swift, with our dishes arriving promptly despite the restaurant's busy atmosphere. To complement our meal, we ordered a Riesling from the restaurant's own brand, which paired perfectly with the food and did not disappoint. Given its popularity, XOPP tends to get quite busy later in the evening, even on weekdays. To ensure a seamless dining experience, I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. Overall, XOPP offers an exceptional dining experience with its superb food, quick service, and delightful house-brand Riesling. It's definitely a place worth visiting if you're in the city.

One of those restaurants where every single dish is on point. Rooms are nice and private, décor is great, atmosphere very regal 👌 You definitely have to try the XO Pippies while you're there. The steamed silver perch was perfect, the texture was just right, nice, juicy and tender. Lobster was great, green beans with pork mince is always nice as a vegetable dish. The Wagyu cubes with sugar snap peas were nice and tender. Desserts Quite nice too. I recommend those yellow custard buns. Overall, every dish was balanced very nicely as expected being a part of Golden century. The staff are all extremely professional.

We ordered a "Kung Pao Coral Trout Fillet" dish , but came with no peanut and cashew in the dish. The manager said it can not be given discount as system has fixed price. This dish taste like stir fry mixed vegetables and there are only 8 small pieces coral trout fillets inside, it costs $48. We were mugged.
Kangming W — Google review
I used to like XOPP however the recent dining experience was underwhelming, and this comes down to the food. Firstly, we ordered the mushroom dumplings which was okay except it was very bland. They did proved a dipping sauce which is just plain soy sauce. Eat-able, but average at best. The crisply skin chicken in shandung sauce was ok, but the sauce was lacklustre, they must've change the recipe, it wasn't balanced. However, the most disappointing was the seafood and tofu hot pot. Firstly, not a single prawn, which is the most fundamental seafood variety. Secondly they used two types of fish, one was normal and the other one was chewy and the texture was all wrong, I couldn't identify the variety. Lastly, the tofu wasn't as fresh, the texture was again strange, and a whiff of it meant the tofu must be of poor quality or it's been in the fridge for a while. Worst still, when the bill came, the price didn't reflect the menu, all more by a few dollars. I'm not sure if there was a 'surcharge' which is strange on all food including drinks, so it's I feel it's misleading. Overall we paid around $20 more for the 'additional' bit, which would've been good if they let us know beforehand. When we asked for the bill, the server came quickly, without even offering fortune cookies, like they did with the other tables. Overall very disappointing. Given the number of cantonese restaurants are decreasing, it's sad to see XOPP serving up cantonese dishes that are mediocre. No wonder reservations were available up till the day before, on a saturday night.

However, Royal Treasure Seafood Restaurant stands out as one of the best Chinese restaurants available. The food here is top-notch and of exceptional quality. Based on personal experience dining in Hurstville, this restaurant sets a high standard. All dishes served are delicious.
Brunch time.. The restaurant was packed. The queue was quite a wait. So be patient. We were seated not long after. In less than a few minutes, trolley after trolley rushed to our table. In a second our table was full of dim sums of all sorts. It was super fast, perfectly timed. If you are not into the bustling dining experiences then this would not be your gig. The difference from other yum cha restaurants is that, you didn't have to wait long for the trolley carts. As soon as the staff sees you seated, they make sure food is displayed to your table. The available choice is fantastic and delicious. I believe most would enjoy their dining here. If you haven't been here, give them a shot and see what you think. It was a great brunch, thank you Royal Treasure. 😀

Enjoyable yum cha lunch, very spacious. Trolleys came around thick and fast. We had to wave them away as we had a table full of plates. Five of us had 14 plates and we still took food home. All dishes were good, the highlight for me was the egg tart, the pastry was really light and flaky. Surprise was that it was only $30 each. I'm used to paying $40 to $50. I read the reviews before going. The staff look very professional in their uniforms, they were polite, our teapot was filled without asking, no plates were thrown on the tables or anything spilt. The bill comes with the food card attached so no sign of being overcharged. And there is a small discount if you pay in cash. All up a very good experience, a little bit out of my way but I will definitely come again.

Quick, good food, little bit chaotic. But is worth it. I went for Sunday lunch with friends, we arrived there was a lot of people waiting outside. But the wait was pretty quick, less then 10 minutes we were in. Arriving we were quickly offered some dim sum dishes. They were good, nothing amazing compared to other places I had dim sum. But, during the lunch few things surprised me. They had a fried fish/eel not sure. That was pretty nice. A glutinous rice fried ball with a nice filling. That was very good. The chicken feet could be more tender, but the flavour was amazing. We had some sesame balls with black sesame paste inside. That was a very nice surprise. There are the rice rolls, the one filled with pork and the one plain with spring onions were simple but delicious. Another top dish is the pork ribs. That was very nice. Skip the mango pancakes, not great. The service wasn't great, as we were in a cornet, and if you didn't chase the cart person you would miss the dishes sometimes. Also as we were under the aircon vent our dishes were getting cold pretty quickly.

The food was quite good—not too oily or salty—and the staff were reasonably friendly. The pork ribs had soft bones, which I like, and the meat was very tender. It had a nice balance of 30% fat to 70% lean, so it wasn’t greasy at all. The chicken feet were soft and well-cooked. The siu mai were large and packed with meat. The prawn rolls were especially delicious—the prawns inside were fresh, crunchy, and juicy, and the outer layer was super crispy without being greasy, with a nice thin crunch. The scallop dumplings were also tasty; apart from the skin being a bit thick, there was nothing wrong with them. The scallops and prawns inside were big and plump. The egg tarts were super tasty too—just a bit on the sweet side. If they were slightly less sweet, they'd be perfect, but they were incredibly smooth and silky. I really liked them. Although there was a queue, the wait wasn’t long—we got seated quickly. One of the bigger downsides, though, was that there weren’t many trolleys going around. If you want something specific, especially some of the classic dishes, you’ll need to be patient or go over and ask the auntie directly; otherwise, if you’re not close to the kitchen, sometimes by the time the trolley reaches you, the dish is already gone—or they might just skip your table.

The Mog Champ sends his regards. Royal Treasure is comparable to most Chinese brunch restaurants where you can have your amazing dose of yum cha in small to large groups. It was a Sunday and the waiting queue was also packed. Best to reserve ahead if possible! We had a lot of different yum cha and dishes ordered from the menu to share. The food is great. Service is like with most Cantonese restaurants, fast-paced and attentive. Quite a spacious restaurant as well. Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ

We came to Royal Treasure Seafood Restaurant for a weekday yum cha. Out of all the yum cha places I have been to, this restaurant was one of the better ones. It serves traditional Cantonese yum cha. The restaurant opened at 11 am. From some time before then, a queue formed outside and was reasonably long. Once the doors opened, though, the line moved very quickly, and we were seated within minutes. The restaurant had a reasonable sized dining space and filled up quickly. Everything we ate was so delicious. All the dumplings were very well made. They were plump, and each had it's own unique flavour. The fillings had some chunks of meat and seafood in them, which gave them a really nice bite and chew. They were not overly minced and processed, which I really liked. The pastry, which incased the dumplings, was slippery smooth. It showed refinement in the making of them. Service was very prompt and efficient. Staff were friendly, helpful, and willing to cater for requests. Prices were good, too, with each of us paying $40. We ate until we were very full. I would highly recommend dining here and am keen to come back!

The food was okay here, service really nice, but unfortunately they don’t have menu for the din sum, when the trolley came over, have no idea how much they cost until you check the bill🥵, that’s a bit tricky and misleading. They won’t show you the price list of the din sum automatically, even though you asked.

Cantonese restaurant
Queen Chow Enmore is a comfortable and upscale imperial dining house that brings a taste of the east to the inner west. The restaurant specializes in Cantonese cuisine, offering classic rice and noodle dishes, seafood plates, and dim sum prepared by a powerhouse trio of chefs. Inspired by neighborhood restaurants in Hong Kong, Queen Chow offers a polished dining experience with seaside views and a slick pub refurbishment.
Have been to Queen Chow several times and the food and service has always been spot on. Located inside The Queens on Enmore Rd, there is plenty of seating upstairs (with an elevator) and a few dining tables in front of the kitchen downstairs. The cuisine is Cantonese and is super tasty. Serving sizes are decent and there are 2 dinner banquets to choose from ($98 and $118). We've only had the dinner banquet once but have found ordering a number of plates from the main menu the way to go.... more variety. On weekends, a $65 lunch banquet is available Friday to Sunday. The food is a little bit pricey for what it is but the flavours are amazing! Cocktails are delicious, staff are super friendly and attentive. The décor is stunning. Polished wood, quirky decorations and a beautiful bar in the main area. Definitely worth a visit and if you arrive early for your booking, there’s a bar downstairs for a bevvie or two beforehand.

Great spot for elevated Cantonese food. The roast duck was rich and perfectly cooked, prawns with noodles had amazing wok flavor, and the beef tartare with egg yolk was a standout twist. Salt & pepper squid and cucumber salad were great sides to balance the meal. Stylish setting, good service 😍Queen Chow never disappoints.
Akash S — Google review
Queen Chow Enmore absolutely delivers on flavour, atmosphere, and service. Every dish we tried was perfectly executed and full of personality. We started with the prawn toast with chilli mayo – golden, crunchy, and generously topped, with just the right kick of spice. The chicken and potato spring rolls were a surprise hit – crisp on the outside, soft and comforting inside, like the best version of a classic. The burrata with Chinkiang vinegar, crispy chilli, and Chinese fried bread was honestly life-changing — a mix of creamy, tangy, and crunchy that worked in the most unexpected way. Huge shout-out to our waiter for recommending it — absolute legend! 🙌 The salt ‘n’ pepper squid was spot-on: tender, lightly battered, and bursting with flavour. To finish, the Singapore noodles tied everything together – a perfect balance of curry, char siu, prawns, and egg that felt both nostalgic and elevated. The staff were incredibly attentive and helpful, striking that rare balance between being friendly and genuinely professional. It’s clear that everyone here takes pride in the experience they deliver. Queen Chow Enmore is one of those places where every dish feels thoughtful and every detail is done right. Highly recommend for anyone who loves modern Chinese with a creative twist.

It's a beautiful, fancy spot. And it's got a great reputation. Lovely, quirky decorations and definitely a spot to impress a date. Nice cocktails. But if you want amazing Chinese food, head somewhere else. Queen Chow has a spendy price tag for dishes that are good... But like, just normal food.

We have been meaning to pop in for some time:) and so happy we finally made it!! First of all, hat off to David and Davi for their impeccable service. They really made our visit so much more memorable! Very generous servings but dont worry- they do doggy bags:)))) absolutely amazing sweet n sour pork and crispy chicken- yuuuuummmm! Very fresh and well balanced scallops. Now ya prob noticed i dont do chilli - this place can accommodate even those like me:)))) it is a very lovely spot great music and design and did i mentioned David and Davi??:))) really fantastic service and food and spot. We r coming back!

This restaurant is tucked away upstairs from a pub, and if not for Google or word of mouth, you’d probably never know it was there. Don’t be fooled by its hidden location though—this place gets busy, so I highly recommend booking ahead on weekends. I ordered the sweet and sour pork, and I have to say it was one of the best I’ve ever had. The outside was perfectly crunchy, while the meat inside stayed tender and flavorful—I found myself wanting more. I paired it with the black pepper beef, which was also excellent. Overall, I really enjoyed the food here. Thank you!

China Diner Bondi, located on Hall Street, offers a mix of creative pan-Asian cuisine in a relaxed streetside setting or a more formal dining room. While it has been known for its broader scope of Asian dining with flavors from South-East Asia, the restaurant has recently introduced weekend yum cha to its menu. This move comes as a response to the limited availability of Cantonese cuisine in the Bondi Beach area compared to other popular food options.
Came here for a late lunch and had an amazing feast. This place is located conveniently at Bondi beach, I managed to score free parking too on the street. The interior and the ambience of this restaurant is impeccable, while the service is excellent too. I had the spicy chicken xo noodles, salt and pepper squid, a refreshing lemonade/apple mock tail and a mango pancake too. Every item was delicious and the presentation was brilliant. I had a nice voucher, which meant my meal was pretty much free, felt like a politician today. I highly recommend this place to everyone.

I was impressed from the very start . Excellent front of house, warm welcome with a genuine smile. Seated us promptly and explained the specials. Our server Amy was attentive, helpful, friendly and worked the floor like a professional, again, impressed. Very busy restaurant, be sure to book ahead, great music and atmosphere. Food was delicious, modern Asian cuisine and served with space in between so we weren’t overwhelmed, as we ordered way too much. Thank you kindly for a delicious meal and wonderful service. Bar also looked fun to be at and I would like to sit there next time for drinks 🍸

Nice enough but that’s about it. Food was a mixed bag. Some good some not. Bao buns really disappointing, just like the frozen ones we get at Cole’s. Service was friendly but one of those venues where they just ask you what you would like once you’ve had a look. Just our experience though 🙂

Walked in on a Friday night. The food portion is small but I liked the taste of every single dish that I ordered. This is fusion restaurant so do not expect authentic Chinese food. This is Western mixed Asian food as you can see there’s no Asian eating at this restaurant, lol. Regardless, my favourite were the King Prawns & Scallops. The flavour was like Thai style, it was spicy, savoury, a little sweet, very strong and bold kinda taste. Scallop were cooked perfectly. I liked the sir fry beef too but it was bit too salty. I also liked that we ordered chicken fried rice instead of white rice as fried rice always has better and extra flavour. The mango pancake dessert was also very good.

Absolutely loved my experience at China Diner Bondi Beach! We ordered the chicken fried rice, pork and prawn fried rice, kung pao chicken, and crispy pork belly — every dish was packed with flavour and cooked to perfection. The crispy pork belly was a standout! The restaurant’s location is unbeatable, with beautiful views of Bondi Beach that made the meal even more memorable. Service was warm, attentive, and efficient throughout. The combination of incredible food, stunning setting, and excellent service makes this a must-visit spot in Bondi. Can’t wait to come back again soon. Highly recommended!

If you want to know how a restaurant should be run, then please go to China Diner Bondi. To the owners/managers who have trained and hired the most incredible and friendly staff who genuinely smile and want to help - kudos to you! The food and the ambience is also creative and fantastic. Will definitely keep going back here over and over again.

Just got into Bondi from a long day drive & son wanted a quick early bite after a walk along the beach. Walked past & ordered directly rather than with mobile app Mr Yum, the host ordered for us. Returned to collect in 20 minutes as advised and it was disappointing indeed Special pork & prawn fried rice had decent portion of prawns dumped on the top of the gorgeous noodle box of dry bland fried rice with the tiniest slivers/slices of pork sausage. My 11yr old cooks better fluffier fresher fried rice than this tasteless brown tinged offering The sesame chicken fried spring rolls was just saved from burning with the sesame layers and the sweet plum sauce salvaged the 4 spring rolls Definitely would not return

Nestled within the serene Chinese Friendship Garden in Darling Harbour, The Gardens By Lotus offers a unique dining experience in Sydney. This teahouse-style restaurant provides a tranquil escape from the city's hustle and bustle, allowing guests to savor a wide array of dumplings, hearty mains, and desserts. With its romantic ambiance and picturesque views of pagoda roofs and ponds, it's an ideal spot for enjoying champagne and delectable dumplings.
Thank you for letting us overstay our table on such a busy day, the lunar new year weekend. We loved the view from that balcony, and the serenity that came with it and couldn't help overstay. Great food, fresh and tasty and overall service was 10 out of 10.

Really enjoyed our lunch. The service was a bit slow though overall the food was great! Much better than i expected compared to the notes in the reviews. Food is great, a bit limited on choice though delicious and served at perfect temperature. Great spot for a relaxing Yum Cha by the Chinese gardens! Totally worth it, and at the end you get a free ticket to explore the gardens!
Petko P — Google review
Ok food, amazing atmosphere, the garden view does adding umami to the food. However from 2024 you will have to pay $8 per person to get into the garden if you make a booking, or full entry fee if without a booking. I am not sure if I will come back again if just for the restaurant (so many Chinese restaurants around Chinatown can provide better and cheaper options), not a sustainable way in my opinion. But I can be wrong since there may be many people who are not sensitive about $8 like me...

We had one of the banquets and honestly could not fault any of it. Every dish was so tasty, especially the oysters with yuzu dressing. Quality ingredients used and flavour profiles that everyone loved. Also the service we received was impeccable; friendly and efficient. And of course the atmosphere and ambiance is so tranquil, being inside the beautiful Chinese gardens. Definitely recommend coming here for an all-round amazing experience.

Friendly welcome, the ambience and views outstanding! The food was delicious and we did manage to fit in some seconds of our favourite dishes. The table service was a little up and down, but one particular waiter picked up on this and ensured our experience was not marred by this. Dessert was out of this world! We will be back!

Yum cha with a relaxing atmosphere, great service and for gathering, we had bottomless lunch. Love the mango pudding which not inc on the bottomless menu. The selections not as much as other yum cha places. Complimentary visit to the friendship garden so beautiful 🎋🏯🥡

I love the experience with The Garden By Lotus, very friendly staff and tasty food. The course for bottomless yumcha is well designed and perfect for a meal. Me and my husband had my birthday celebration here. Just one thing that we sometimes had to wait a bit between dishes so our 90 minutes ended faster than we expected, but that was okay. After dining we also got tickets to visit the Chinese gardens, where we could walk to help digesting a big meal lol. Anyway, thanks for the great experience!

The experience is really nice, although we did not know a reservation was needed beforehand in order to have one of the tables with nicer views. The food was great, pricey, though (you’re definitely paying to eat in the chinese garden, so make sure you make a reservation to have a good view) The only thing we thought could be better were the vegetable dumplings - a bit flavorless and not best consistency.

Golden Sands is a renowned restaurant in the south-west, offering a delectable array of Cantonese and contemporary Hong Kong dishes. Known for its long queues, it has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
My family came to eat Yum Cha here, there was 5 of us eating & all i can say is that they were very fast with serving us. The staff were very friendly aswell & the food was absolutely delicious. My family enjoyed ourselves & we'll definitely be coming back for more.

Dinner dishes are garbage. Pork rib is all fat or lard no ribs, vegetables dish full of oil, BBQ goose no taste, lobster with noodles is just average. Will not go there again. I wonder the ability of the cook cannot call chef.
Sing C — Google review
This has always been our go-to place for yum cha, and we’ve come back many times because the food is consistently great. Unfortunately, the service really lets the experience down. There’s one particular waitress who seems unhappy and is often rude whenever we ask for something extra, even something simple like a spoon or sauce. Today, she even swore in Chinese as she was not pleased that we asked for extra spoon, and my Chinese friend had to confirm with another staff member just to make sure we all understood what was said. The food alone keeps us coming back, but it’s frustrating that one staff member’s attitude continues to spoil the otherwise enjoyable experience.
S R — Google review
Food was all gristle and fat. The egg tarts tasted half cooked and of raw flour and butter. Highly recommend you avoid this place.

Food is good, price is ok. They have roast goose which I appreciate.
Benjamin L — Google review
I was there with my friend when this happened, and it was honestly one of the most uncomfortable dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. The food was fine — average yum cha, nothing to rave about — but the service was shocking. One of the waitresses gave us attitude when my friend politely asked for extra sauce. She brought back only one instead of two, then muttered a swear word. We were both stunned. When my friend asked if she’d just sworn at us, she ignored him and walked away. The owners saw it all and did absolutely nothing. For a place that charges extra for sauce, you’d think basic courtesy wouldn’t be too much to ask. It’s a shame because this used to be a decent spot, but the service has completely gone downhill. Definitely not coming back after that experience.
Nancy L — Google review
Awful service. We arrived when there was only 2 tables of patrons, not busy at all. After we ordered, 4 other tables arrived. Everyone received food before us (even some food was the same as what we ordered). We were told ours was cooking and it takes time it doesn’t magically appear (yet the table next to us who ordered the same thing, but after us…they already got theirs). One thing we noticed was all the other tables were Asian patrons. Whereas we were a mix. So honestly I think they were giving preferential treatment to those tables. Some might call this racist? Anyways after a 40 min wait…and asking 2 seperate waiters on 3 seperate occasions …we were told they had never even began to cook it. Very unimpressed.
D J — Google review
I came here recently and honestly, the food itself was okay, a bit on the dearer side for what you get — but the service was shocking. One particular staff member gave me a dirty look when I politely asked for extra sauce. I had asked for two, but she only brought one back and seemed visibly annoyed. Then, to my shock, she swore out loud right in front of us because how dare we asked her where’s the other one. When she returned with the 2nd one, I asked if she just swore at me, she ignored me and walked off. The owners saw the whole thing but didn’t react at all. It’s disappointing because the sauce wasn’t even free — they charge $1.50 for it — yet she acted like we were asking for something unreasonable. For a place that charges extra for sauce, you’d think basic manners wouldn’t be too much to expect. No wonder this place isn’t as busy as it used to be. The food is average at best, and the attitude from staff makes it not worth coming back. Imagine eating and being cussed at for requesting simple service. Definitely won’t be returning.

Nestled in the heart of Sydney, JINJA Restaurant is a vibrant new addition to the city's culinary scene, specializing in yum cha. After my recent visit, I was thoroughly impressed by their diverse menu that features delightful dishes like Peking duck and king crab fried rice.
Went last night and was impressed with the quality and taste of the food. The BBQ platter was really good. The pork was on point. The lobster dumplings are also a must try. The stir fry veg was also great. Special shout out to Eliza, who was one of the waitresses who served us. You were really friendly and insightful. The other waitress was also very attentive but unfortunately we don't know her name! Thank you Jinja for a cool date night experience! Will definitely be back!

The menu offers a wide variety but unfortunately, many dishes were already sold out during the early dinner hours, which was somewhat disappointing. We particularly enjoyed the ‘Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter Har Gao’, while the other dishes were fairly average. We had high expectations for the BBQ pork, but it was overly sweet and lacked the desired BBQ and charred flavor. The prawn toast, although generous in portion, could use some improvement. It was a bit too soggy and missed the crispy crunch.

A must try restaurant in Sydney! It was my first time dining in with Jinja & it was purely amazing. And thanks heaps to our beautiful & friendly server Beth, who gave all the BEST recommendations!. All the recommendations were exquisite but especially the tooth fish & the crab fried rice, it was indescribably yum. Will definitely go back to try other dishes!:)

Jinja is located inside the governor hotel. Parking is very difficult especially during lunch and dinner rush. This restaurant has a lot of potential and plenty of room for improvement. The interior design is lovely and service was good but the food was shocking. The menu is quite limited in comparison to other yum Cha spots and more westernised. We ordered a variety of dishes and they came out very quickly because it was already made and sitting in the cart. That’s fine, generally how yum Cha works but the har gow was definitely sitting in there for too long it was basically mush and fell apart when we tried to pick it up. The chicken feet came out - 2 and a half pieces (just look at the photo) Ribs portion is also tiny Noodles were very dry The salt and pepper squid I had a piece that was all batter

Came here as a group of 6. The service and ambiance is great though location a little out of the way. Dumplings and dimsum were good though I think the highlight was the tea - amazing quality and very fragrant. However as they come in smaller portions it meant the staff needed to frequently refill the water which could be harder if there were more people during a busier period.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner last night. We were the first ones in the restaurant and it was lovely being the first ones there and the food came out extremely quickly. It was fantastic that our waitstaff knew we had the complimentary Welcome Bubbles for our booking and gave us our drinks promptly. The sparkling wine also did not have a horrible aftertaste which signals to me they gave us a decent wine and not a cheap one. We ordered: • BBQ Pork Pie • Wagyu Charcoal Bun • King Prawn Sui Mai • Pan Fried Prawn Brioche • Nanjing Crispy Pork Belly • King Crab Fried Rice All of the dishes were beautifully presented but also tasted DELICIOUS!!! The standouts for us were the BBQ Pork Pie, Pan Fried Prawn Brioche, Pork Belly & the Fried Rice. We left extremely satisfied with enough leftovers to take home! The service was extremely attentive and fast, with all staff we interacted with being very polite, warm and professional. The ambience of the restaurant is very comfortable but yet elegant. This has become one of our new favourite special restaurants and we have discussed bringing friends here for a special occasion. Thank you again, Jinja. You did extremely well!

Absolutely loved Jinja and highly recommend. The aspect that blew me away the most was the attention to detail and of the finer things. From the moment you walk in and see they hanging barbecue meats to walking through the restaurant with the red and gold accents, velvet seating, the wine wall, the private rooms, even the restrooms it’s clear a lot of care and thought went into the venue. We found the food menu to be enticing. The menu items have been presented in a way that is very clear, interesting, and delicious. We wanted to order more than we could eat. Better yet, what we got exceeded our expectations. In terms of flavour it hit the right balance of modern and tradition. The highlights for us: Wagyu, the prawn brioche, and the lobster. The “duck poop” tea. We also ordered a mixed fried platter with a selection of dim sum.

We came here for my aunty’s birthday and we tried their banquet dinner which we get to taste a bit of everything from dim sum, meat dish to seafood! We’re grateful that Emma was looking after us the whole night, she took the time to explain the dishes, refilled our tea pots (their tea pots are quite small, so it’s likely you’ll have to request for more hot water but we didn’t have to because Emma was constantly checking to make sure we have enough tea with our meal) and suggested us to try their pipi & Chinese doughnuts (my Aunty loves seafood!) which was a very interesting and creative combination! I have to say this is the best Chinese doughnut (aka yau ja gwai) I’ve tried! They were fresh, hot and crispy; not oily or too doughy/chewy. I used to have them with my congee when I visit Hong Kong, but most times they were cold and stale, so make sure you try their Chinese doughnuts! It’s the highlight of the night!! We also love their huge selection of different types of teas, we picked their bai mu dan from their white tea category and loved its aroma and texture, would love to try their other tea selections next time. Staffs were very friendly and chatty, the manager (forgot to ask for his name, I believe it’s Sam who sent us a follow up post dining email) came over to our table and checked up on us several times to make sure everything was running smooth. The moment he knew it was a birthday celebration, he ordered us a complimentary fried ice cream, thank you and we really appreciated it. Overall, we had an amazing time and thank you for the wonderful dining experience!

Yum Cha Project is redefining the dim sum experience by transforming it into a convenient, on-the-go dining option. Gone are the traditional steamer trolleys; instead, diners can enjoy their favorite dishes in takeaway boxes reminiscent of popular fast-food joints. The menu features beloved classics like barbecue pork buns and prawn dumplings alongside innovative twists such as cheeseburger spring rolls and Peking duck pizza.
I recently visited Yum Cha Project as it is near my office and was pleasantly surprised by their unique specials (good to check before you go). I had the $1 prawn har gow, and the prawns were substantial, fresh, and clearly real – not the typical filler you sometimes get elsewhere. It paired well with chicken noodles that were delicious. I also enjoyed their 2-for-1 drinks offer, trying the matcha strawberry latte and lychee tea – both were delightful and refreshing The place has a cosy corner in the CBD near the Bridge Light rail, perfect for a relaxed bite. It's definitely worth a try if you're in the area!

They have a really extensive yet affordable menu which is really great for the city! I loved their strawberry matcha, I was told they use real strawberry fruit pieces. I also have never tried a Hainan chicken pizza before which was surprisingly very yum. They have a big range of dumplings. I loved the cheeseburger spring roll, perfectly cheesy and crunchy. The branding is cute and the location very central. Check out my food Instagram @erinxeats for more!

Editing review: As of September, they have lowered the menu prices and introduced more combo deals which is fantastic. I have tried a few items off their menu: Drinks are decently priced ($6.50) and comes in a very cute, sturdy cup that I would keep and re-use. I always ask for half ice or no ice: - Dark roasted oolong milk tea (half sugar - it's too sweet at 100% sugar) is okay. - Lychee jasmine tea green tea is delicious - Strawberry matcha is okay. The matcha flavour is a tad weak, and they use a strawberry syrup rather than real strawberries. The sweetness level is perfect. Food items. I have no complaints about the flavours and it comes with free sauce: - Chicken noodles are good. But the takeaway container is TINY. They do try to pack as much noodles as they can though. - Chives + pawn fried/steamed dumpling and the cheese burger spring rolls tastes great - BBQ pork bun was a bit cold in the middle

Loved the concept and had such a great experience here. Highly recommend going to get your yum cha craving fix. The food came out steaming hot and the size of the dumplings were hefty - I will be back!

Pre-ordered this banquet for my work function, and it was an instant hit! The dumplings were on point—super fresh and tasty. The signature prawn dim sum were a total win among us—so soft and packed with flavor. Everything was still warm when it arrived, and even though I thought I had ordered generously for my staff, we finished it all—nothing left even the drinks! 🤣 Thanks, guys, for accommodating my last-minute request!

We recently had food from the Yum Cha Project catered at our networking mixer. The spring rolls were a massive hit with our attendees. 200 pieces gone within 15 minutes. Thanks to the team for making our experience so easy! I also got to try their steamed dim sum. One word, YUM!

Nestled in the heart of Sydney, Spice Temple offers a delightful journey through the lesser-known culinary regions of China. This contemporary restaurant invites diners to indulge in a banquet-style experience, surrounded by chic and intimate decor that sets the perfect mood for an unforgettable meal. The menu showcases aromatic dishes from Sichuan, Yunnan, Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangxi, and Xinjiang—each bursting with flavor and spice.
Absolutely wonderful dining experience! First time but won't be our last. Every dish was delicious, and the cocktails were incredible. Highly recommend the hot sweet and sour numbing pork, and the prawn wontons. Our waiter was very efficient and service oriented - to the point that he was coming over and refolding our napkins when we went to the bathroom! Now that's service. The atmosphere was also really cool with contemporary yet dark underground vibes and a great music selection.10/10 no notes, do yourself a favour and give Spice Temple a go.

We recently dined at Spice Temple in Sydney to celebrate a family birthday, and it was an absolute hit! The moment we stepped inside, we were struck by the warm and stunning atmosphere. The service was top-notch – our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations from the menu. The food was absolutely divine! We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and each one was more delicious than the last. What really made the evening special, though, was the birthday treat – the staff surprised the birthday boy with a complimentary dessert. It was such a thoughtful touch and added to the overall warmth and hospitality of the restaurant. We were impressed by the attention to detail. We'll definitely be back for more! If you're looking for a great spot to celebrate a special occasion or just want to enjoy some amazing Asian cuisine, Spice Temple is a must-visit.

I’ve been a regular at Spice Temple for a while, but this was my first time trying their new lunch dumplings. They’re quite different from traditional Chinese dumplings, but still really tasty and a refreshing twist—definitely worth trying. The atmosphere here is always a highlight—stylish, intimate, and perfect for a long lunch or dinner. I especially love their zodiac cocktails, which are so unique and make the experience feel special every time. Always a great spot to come back to!

This place serves good Chinese spicy food, though at a premium price. What I appreciated most wasn’t the food, but the setting—the carpeted floors and sound-absorbing surroundings make conversations easy and relaxed, unlike many restaurants that are uncomfortably loud these days. The food is enjoyable, but not particularly spectacular.

Nice place if you’re looking for Asian fusion towards the Wynyard Martin Place area the food was okay. Some things were a bit often too salty ordered the document pancake Chinese broccoli and a few other things can’t say it was amazing service good can’t fault that. Go once but not twice kind of location.

Was here for a casual dinner, we came at 6:10 so it wasn’t very busy and got seated immediately! Food was okay, huge portion tho. I highly recommend won tons, the conpoy fried rice was alright, so was the fried chicken. Staff were friendly. Good atmosphere.

What an absolute treat. Spice temple was great. We went for my partner's birthday and it didn't disappoint, all the dishes were amazing but I'd especially recommend the beef needles. The way they got the beef soft and tender, while still being crispy was great combined with a great chilli oil with the right amount of spice was truely amazing. Some other standouts were the lamb dumplings. Lamb isn't something you normally find in a dumpling and I don't know why, these were amazing. Other highlights include the desserts, the three milk cake and chocolate and peanut butter puffet. Both were incredible and great serving size. While it is a pricey restaurant, the old saying "you get what you pay for" rings true

Had a wonderful experience st Spice Temple, with the commitment to service really shining through. The retro atmosphere feels intimate and comfortable, and overall the food was pretty good. The soup to begin was delicious, made better by the fact it was complimentary. Our entrees were truely a highlight, with the chicken with strange sauce and the chow mien being must haves. Unfortunately, the Hot Pot was really a let down, they forgot the rice noodles, added tripe, and overall the soup was bland and wagyu cut too thick, making it tough. This was really where the service was outstanding, with the dish taken off our bill and complimentary mocktails provided for the table. The gesture really showed the high level of care that Spice Temple takes, and really successfully recovered our experience. Our mains were mixed, with the lemon chicken being tender, flavourful and crispy, but the ”signature” beef needles being tough and dry. The greens were delicious just something that could be cooked at home. We ordered one of every dessert, and all of them were delicious, with the egg rolls and cake being the favourites. We were so full that we asked for the complimentary petit fours to go, which they happily obliged. We will be back!

The cantonese restaurant Marigold is a popular spot for classic Cantonese meals served under a vaulted ceiling hung with chandeliers. The menu offers plenty of variation, from prawn dumplings to barbeque pork buns, and the trolleys make rounds more regularly. The space is huge and nurtures a warm communal atmosphere.
First of all I was very impressed with their customer service. starting from booking table to arriving at the restaurant and all the way through table service, every step the customer service was excellent. Staff were friendly, attentive and have good sense of humour. It is very COVID safe. They provided two pairs of chopsticks for each one of us so that we don't cross contaminate the food. The tables are spaced out very nicely and I felt comfortable dining there. The food is nice and reasonably priced. They also gave us complementary fruits and desserts. I wouldn't say it's the best food I have ever had but I would definitely go back for the overall experience.

I've been coming here for yum cha for over 30 years and it's been consistently very good for that entire time. Trolley after trolley of tasty dim sum dishes. They also catered an excellent wedding lunch banquet for my brother.

I absolutely love this yum cha, it is my favourite. Staff are very friendly and helpful. It has a wide range of vegetarian options and staff are helpful in picking them out. It's decorative and a nice restaurant in general. Has two levels for dining I suggest going to level 5 as it is more visually appealing.

We arrived at around 11.30 on a Saturday but this place was packed!! The food trolleys were on stroll all the time and there were a variety of yum cha dishes to choose from. One thing I can say that this place has some dishes that I’ve never seen at any other yum cha places. The aunties were quite friendly but spoke broken English - still understandable though. The only negative was we were told to finish in about 1 hour because they were too many customers waiting and the trolleys were coming at long intervals for our table so wasn’t sure what happened. P.s: I went for the 2nd time after hearing the news that they will be gone for good… Some Sydneysiders will definitely miss this place! Goodbye 👋🏼

Awesome traditional yumcha food. Ample seats and they come around in those hand push food trolleys. Lots of choices with great authenticity. It has been at least 30 years since my first visit. It is an historical icon itself in that industry. During peak hours/days there will be a wait which supports its unmatched popularity. Lots of other yumcha options around but non beats Marigold. All staff work hard as well as being very fast and efficient. A must - visit restaurant when in Sydney. Highly recommended.

Restaurant
Nestled in the leafy Cook and Phillip Park in Sydney, Bodhi Restaurant is a charming spot offering a delectable array of plant-based Pan Asian cuisine. The restaurant takes pride in its vegan yum cha, featuring dishes like choi sum dumplings, glass noodle spring rolls, and crispy pumpkin-shaped pumpkin balls.
This restaurant was excellent. The location is hard to find, but it’s definitely worth going! I loved how many options there are for dishes, how quickly all of them come out, and the level of service at this place. Everything is priced at about the same, so you’ll know about what to expect. Most of the dishes come with 3 items per dish, so just be prepared that you may need a number of them for large groups. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who likes dumplings, yum cha, and vegetarian or vegan options! Excellent experience overall!
Shashwat — Google review
The food is absolutely amazing and the dishes are very diverse and special. The cocktails are top quality as well. The ingredients felt like really good quality and the preparation was on point. One star deduction because some of the staff wasn't so polite. Not the new waiter though, who served us most of the time and who was very helpful and friendly.
Erik B — Google review
Stunning hidden location and a unique vegan eating experience. I wouldn't call this traditional yum cha, no trolley carts in sight! And the dough on the dumplings are a bit thick. flavours are simple and clean. Not bad overall.
Thirza S — Google review
4.6/5 for me. The staff there were so welcoming even though we had arrived early. Our server was very friendly but could have improved by keeping to our own picks rather than their suggestions. The food however was incredibly flavoursome but also very light. It was a very satisfying meal without feeling like you needed to wear stretchy pants to the restaurant. Pretty big fan of the sliders and the eggplant was a table favourite. Would have loved to see a little more spice to the curry but the chef's have definitely learnt how to create "duck" at a similar taste to the original. Overall great vegan experience and would definitely go back
Tim S — Google review
Unfortunately we didn't have a great lunch at Bodhi. Arriving a few minutes early for our table (5mins max), they didn't let us take a seat in the empty restaurant so we loitered around. Besides the crispy wonton, most other dishes weren't very tasty, with the dumpling skins way too thick and chewy, oily or too much sweet sauce added. We couldn't finish some of the dishes. The service was also a bit chaotic. There were some newbies being trained but it was a bit uneasy to see multiple plates of food going back and forth, with servers talking all over them. One server kept speaking to us in Cantonese even though we only spoke English, and when we paid the bill, the guy at the front grumbled because our first server hasn't put our table number on the system. So the vibe amongst the staff felt a bit.. Off. Not sure why there are so many good reviews for this place. Sure the location is nice and it's nice to have a vegan place, but the flavours, service and value for money wasn't there for us. Wouldn't recommend it for vegans or non vegans.
Candice . — Google review
Beautiful isolated place at centre of the city and nice yum cha experience. Loved almost all the platters. Its vegan and obviously they have tried to match the real taste. But being pure vegetarian, the prawn one tasted lil horrible for me. My partner liked it though. Others we tried were so different from each other and tasted delicious. Try different things and explore. Perfect for a small family to try many things with the quantity they serve.
Smile — Google review
This deserves a 5 star review because i enjoyed every dish. FYI i fancy being a carnivore in my spare time. The only "bad" and somewhat debatable feed back I can give is that the tables were really tight and small so if you have multiple dishes coming out at a time and you want to take your time to intake all the flavours it was a bit of a circus act. In addition if you have a bad back i recommend letting the booking staff know prior to your arrival as 95% of the chairs don't have a back support.
John D — Google review
Great variety of Vegan food that's beautifully presented. Each dish is packed full of flavour which would excite your vegan taste buds. For a non-vegan eater, I loved the taste, texture and creativity. And their desserts hits the right balance of being delicious, yet not too sweet. Great dinning space and knowing that this is a family owned restaurant for three generations, made the experience even more magical.

Emperor's Garden Restaurant is a bustling and spacious eatery that offers traditional Chinese dishes and yum cha. While they serve gossamer-thin dumplings, they also cater to those seeking more provincial Chinese cuisine. The restaurant is famous for its Emperors puffs, which have been a hit since childhood and continue to attract long queues of eager customers. These custard-filled treats are made fresh on-site and are described as cheap and perfect for a casual dessert with friends or family.
Started coming since our fav ‘Marigold’ closed down in late 2021. We explored so many different yumcha restaurants in the city but this felt closer to what we would get in HK with the pushcart, the atmosphere and above average dumplings (some really good). Loved their roast duck, siew mai, har gao, fried beancurd roll with prawn (humongous in size). Service isn’t that great but it’s standard. We would rather have good food and average service, not vice versa. Always our go to, and we take our overseas guest here too (they enjoyed it very much).
Melissa C — Google review
The stir fried beef with black pepper was the only one we enjoyed. The Chinese broccoli with garlic was hard and chewy. The Yang Chow fried rice (not pictured) was the bland and dry. It had no wok hei at all. We also bought sweet & sour pork for takeout which turned out to be too sweet. The pork the used was very fatty and heavily covered with batter. Lastly, the Emperor’s cream puffs were dry and were too sweet.
Chinaphong K — Google review
We should've searched better for yum cha places in Chinatown. This place is sadly less than average. Chicken feet lacked flavour. Sui mai lacked flavour, just about every dumplings we ordered kacke flavour. To top it all, the mango pancake was not sweet. The mango was sour and the cream filling was a disappointment. This place would be the last place I'd go for any Chinese meals.
Charisma M — Google review
really disappointing Sunday lunch in China town. No menus were handed over, no water for the table. No introduction or explanation, no drinks menu. It was all extremely weird. eventually, a trolley came round, and we chose a couple of dishes . We had thought because it was open since the 1970s it would be pretty good at what it did but we couldn’t have been more wrong. It was supposed to be a celebration. Definitely won’t be back. and for three small dishes, it was quite expensive to pay over $70. (no effort was made with the decor or the toilet facilities). genuinely shocked that this has an average rating of 3.6??
Helen S — Google review
We came here because The Eight was closed and it turned out to be a very poor decision. There is simply no care given to the dim sims here. I grew up on Yum Cha and the food here is average at best. The Sui Mai had no flavour whatsover, the Har Gau was tiny and did not have any taste. The Chicken Feet was not soft enough but the flavour was good and the Prawn and Chive Dumplings were over steamed. The Beef Balls were probably the only standout. The only consolation was that there were four dumplings instead of three in the bamboo steamers. The BBQ Pork Bun pasty was full of red smudge marks which is a big indicator that there there is no quality control in the kitchen. This happens when the filling (which is red) is smudged over the outside pastry because of lack of care or rushing. This should not happen . To top this off, the bill came to $94 for 7 serves of dumplings. Should have waited at the Royal Palace Seafood Restaurant.
Howardwashere — Google review
Chicken bun - too soft. Breaks into 2 pcs when we pick up the bun. Filing is OK but nothing impressive. Pan-fried bun - passable but no wow factor too. Soy sauce stir-fried noodles - terrible burnt smell. Burnt noodles and Beansprouts head. Look at the noodles and Beansprouts head that I picked out from my 3 mouthfuls of noodles. Price wise is expensive, food taste is blend, the environment is not fantastic. Imagine someone on a vacuum cleaner near you to do the cleaning while you are eating. Don't bother to drop by, I should have checked on Google Review before stepping in.

Nine Dragons is a renowned Chinese restaurant located in Sydney's Chinatown, offering a spacious dining area adorned with gold walls featuring dragon motifs. With over 30 years of experience, it has become an iconic destination for yum cha enthusiasts. The restaurant offers a delectable array of Chinese staples and yum cha options, served promptly by friendly staff. While the interior may appear slightly dated, the delicious food and efficient service make it a reliable choice for an enjoyable dining experience.
Nine Dragons was delicious!! I loved how culturally authentic everything was. The restaurant is beautifully decorated in red with dragons on the walls and dining at the circular tables was nice. The staff were very knowledgable about gluten in the food and there a lot of gluten free options. We were served a complementary tea when we arrived, and my beef chow fun was amazing.

I liked the outdated tacky Chinese restaurant interior (not being sarcastic). The service was initially slow but when the food came and was placed on the lazy Susan the fun began. Dishes included salt and pepper prawns, honey chicken, combination fried rice, fillet Cantonese style, bbq pork with vegetables, combination duck, sizzling Mongolian lamb washed down with a bottle of La Bohéme Yarra Valley Riesling. All meals were very fresh and tasty only draw back was slow initial service and dishes a little on the small side

We came here as a family farewell before leaving Australia hoping for an enjoyable asian dining experience. But we didn’t realize the 9 dragons actually stood for 9 ways to ruin your evening. Dragon 1 - The dragon of incompetence, we booked two tables for our party of 14 and one of our tables was given away before we arrived, because the hostess believed it was a duplicate booking. Dragon 2 - The dragon of indifference. After we were seated countless wait staff walked by our table and ignored us, we had to flag down a waitress to give our order. Dragon 3 - The dragon of drought, after we gave our order, half of us had no glasses to drink from and we had to flag the staff down again to get some water. At one point I poured water i had in a bottle in my backpack into my glass at the table. Dragon 4 - The dragon of confusion, our orders started coming out haphazardly and delivered to the wrong person at the table. Dragon 5 - The dragon of blandness. the food was a kin to fast food you get at a food court. Dragon 6 - The dragon of gluttony. We began receiving extra plates of food we didn’t even order later on into dinner. Dragon 7 - The dragon of disorder. At no point would anyone come to try and clear the plates from the tables. Dragon 8 - The dragon of disregard. After it was clear that we all were done dining, no offer for desert, no offer to bring the bill. Dragon 9 - The dragon of disappointment. After spending $256 US on this dinner you face the last dragon of disappointment and get to regret your evening. Those are the 9 Dragon you too can face at 9 Dragons.

I always love to come to this restaurant. The staff are always friendly and I always look forward to my next visit. The restaurant can get quite busy so I tend to book in advance. We had fried dim sims for entree and they have to be the best ones I’ve ever had and the honey chicken was definitely up there as well. They have a robot that brings dishes to some peoples tables which adds another experience while you are dining. I love how there are 9 dragon themed cocktails to play off the name of the restaurant. I’ve had the fire one before and had the ice and lightning ones this time and all three have been great. The price is expensive most likely due to their location but being one of the best restaurants I’ve been to, definitely makes up for that. Will definitely visit again next time I am in the city.

Ok let’s just put this out there. Surely you can’t stuff up a Chinese classic in chicken and corn soup……..oh yes you can. Nine dragons have failed and ruined one of life’s great dishes!! Cold and watery is all I can say…….this dragon ain’t a happy camper!!! Don’t Go Go Go to number 9!!!

Restaurant is good, food tasty and arrives fairly promptly even when super busy. Good selection of dishes and not expensive. My main issue and it’s always an issue is the service, waiters actively ignore you and laugh when you try to get their attention. Management no better and don’t help either. This is highly annoying and the only reason we go back is due to the fact we like the food Improve the service and everything would be great

Truly, excellent lunchtime, dining experience that is a little bit special occasion! When we needed a special place to go for my birthday lunch, my partner and I selected Lotus at the galleries Victoria. From the moment we walked in till our exit our customer service experience was simply excellent And all managed by a gentleman named Ben who at every occasion was magnificent. It’s reassuring when you go to a special occasion, Restaurant and your handled with such expertise, thoughtfulness and care. The knowledge that you’re in safe hands is truly comforting, especially in this day and age. We loved the pork dumpling as an entrée, it was slightly different because it had a crust like a pie yet inside was juicy and extremely tasty. We also had some beautiful fried beans that were crunchy delicious and perfect for that moment. We ordered the half duck Experience and it was very special. Having half a duck carved up in front of you is impressive because it takes a lot of skill - and you can see just how and where the meat comes from the duck. We were absolutely full when we left; but beforehand, Ben showed us the various function rooms that could be hired for other special occasions. Thank you Ben for your excellent service and thank you lotus. We will definitely be back!

Tried some of their Peking duck. We ordered half a duck for two people, which cost $65 (a whole duck is $115). First, they served a few pieces of duck skin placed on a pile of sugar. We were told to eat it immediately to enjoy the crispness but unfortunately, the skin wasn’t crispy at all and lacked any crunch. The sugar stuck to the skin didn’t complement the flavour either; it felt mismatched. Shortly after, they brought out the duck meat on a separate plate. The duck meat itself was cooked medium (which might be ideal for some), but it lacked seasoning and depth of flavour. I was hoping for a more vibrant mix of sweet, salty, and savoury notes as you’d typically expect from Peking duck, but it tasted quite bland and wasn’t fragrant at all. Overall, probably my least favourite Peking duck experience.

Lovely lunch organised by friends who are regulars, started with the Jade prawn dumplings and lobster and prawn dumplings. For mains we had the kung pao chicken, great for me as it wasn't too hot and spicy. The twice cooked pork belly with pear was also delicious with a nice sweet caramelised sauce. The only negative was the pork was too fatty. The duck fried rice was also very good. Dessert was the Eastern mess, really enjoyed it. Service was great, our water and tea were constantly topped up.

Dumpling restaurant
Chinese Noodle House is a modest Chinese restaurant in Haymarket, known for its rice bowls, noodles, and meat dishes. The establishment is recognized by the grapes adorning its roof. Upon entering, guests are serenaded by a violinist who also happens to be the owner. The menu features Xinjiang-inspired cuisine such as hand-pulled noodles and an array of dumplings.
Settled in the heart of Chinatown I ordered the pork and chive dumplings as well as the Eggplant. The Eggplant let me tell you is the best DISH THEY HAVE. A hands down must dish to get the sauce is so sweet and the taste of crispy eggplant is the best. Would definitely recommend a place to check out it’s really good.
Hendersen — Google review
Went here at night and it was pretty busy. They were cramming people outside, even using public benches and using their tables from inside to pack people outside, which felt very disorganized. Prices were reasonable, but the food was hit or miss. We ordered three dumplings (two egg and chive, one pork and chive) which were decent but nothing special. Unfortunately, the hand-pulled noodles were extremely bland — it felt like they just threw on some soy sauce. The beef dish was drowning in hoisin sauce and lacked any real flavor, and while the eggplant was cooked well, it was just as tasteless. Food came out at random times, so we weren’t able to eat everything together. To make things worse, it started pouring rain midway through our meal. There were no proper shelters or options to move indoors, and it turned into chaos. Staff were rude when we tried to get help. Definitely needs better organization, especially with seating and service. Would not recommend unless serious improvements are made.

I enjoyed eating at Chinese Noodle House. We ordered the Beijing combination noodles and steamed pork and chive dumplings. I particularly liked the noodles and found them to be better than expected. The noodles were handmade and thus varied slightly in their thickness. I thought it added to the authenticity of the dish. There was a lot of skill in making the noodles. They were soft and slippery with a slight bite to them. The sauce balanced well with the fresh slithers of cucumber and minced pork. Textually, the dish worked well, too. I also enjoyed eating the dumplings. They were juicy and plump. Service was very warm, friendly, courteous, and efficient. All staff were helpful and were working hard.

Orders pan fried pork dumplings which was ok. Also ordered hot and sour sea food noodles soup but to my shook after spending 18 dollar for it got a full bowl of noodles with only 2 prawns and 2 calamari pieces. They used to be good once upon a time but now the prices has increased by taste and quantity has decreased.. there are many better option in Cbd to spend money than here.

I know this might sound crazy but this restaurant has been open for over 20 years. My dad came here for the first time 20 years ago, there is even the waitress with 2 pony tails, she had been working here since the very beginning, when my dad visited for the first time she was there. ever since then anytime I come to the city we always tend to eat here, id say this place is like a locals only sort of place, not reconmended for new people but for the people who have been coming here for years.(i don't mean that in a bad way, just that people dont just drift by, either theyre curious or regulars) this place is like an acquired taste. Anyway, despite the name being very simple, they have incredibly good food. Cant complain, I can only sit and enjoy the meal, if your coming here for the first time I reconmend stir fry noodles, pan fried pork dumplings and boiled pork dumplings, the food is good, the portion is big and the price hasn't changed much, which I love. The atmosphere is amazing, although the people speak Chinese they're not exactly loud, only quite loud at night, but we'll get to that. This place is most busy at dinnertime at around 7pm. The seating inside is quite small, could fit 4 groups of 4 at most at a time, if u cant be seated, u tell them and then sit outside(i prefer right underneath the escalator). Anyway great place, brings back memories and amazing food.

Seriously slurpy oyster sauce on garlic laden fresh veggies, stir fried with tasty pieces of fresh fried tofu. Add a heaped bowl of steamed rice, and you've got your fast food lunch. Except this one has your daily serves of veggies. It's crowded and seating is small. There's plenty of quick service. And the bowl of veggies arrives steaming and fragrant. The rice is more than enough. The hot pot of pu'er tea is welcome. Especially on this wet and windy Sydney afternoon. The menu offers plenty of variety and dishes from south China. A great place to enjoy. Try the bowls of noodles they are filling, plus.

Just because you see people lining up out of the door and all seats filled up, doesn't mean it's good. I was fooled. Ordered Xinjiang lamb fried rice and braised beef noodles both were disgustingly bland and flavorless. The rice has been sitting for at least a day or two. And they just loaded my lamb with fat. The server lady couldn't find anything to occupy herself with and was hovering over my shoulders and watching me eat the whole time. Very uncomfortable. The dining room was a mess and you'd think she'll use the time to clean up? 🤷🤷🤷

Simple, nice and lasts for decade. Their dumplings are very decent, either steamed, or pan fried, or frozen for takeaway. Highly recommend the egg and chives and beef and onion fillings. Also recommend to try their eggplant dishes.

Malaysian restaurant
Restaurant
Ho Jiak Haymarket is a Malaysian restaurant that lives up to its name, offering a menu inspired by the street food the head chef grew up cooking with his amah. The signature dish, char kway teow, has had various iterations over the years and is recommended by Masterchef alumni Reynold Poernomo. The Indomee goreng and laksa are also highly praised.
I had such a wonderful experience dining at Ho Jiak! The flavours were bold, authentic, and brought back memories of Malaysia. Every dish was cooked to perfection!! Especially the Sarawak Black & White Pepper Crab which was full of depth and spice. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy yet vibrant. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a true Malaysian street food experience in Sydney!

Very underwhelming and frustrating experience. From the second we walked in with an unopened drink in hand from another location, the staff were absolutely fixated on it and kept telling us about their “no outside drinks” policy. Even when we told them that we weren’t going to drink it, they still kept harping on about it. At one point, our waiter even touched our drink to hide it behind a menu!! Seriously!? How rude and unprofessional, not mention unhygienic!! What do they think is going to happen if other people see it on the table? The food is mediocre and overpriced. Overall a major disappointment. Go somewhere else. There are many other better places within a few minutes walk.

This place exceeded my expectations. I ordered the beef rendang stuffed roti $19, Hainan chicken laksa $27. Both dishes were delicious. Great flavors, good portions, reasonable prices, great service. Queued for about 5 minutes on a Sunday night. Medium sized restaurant, they have a ground and upper level. My only complaint is that it's pretty warm inside, I don't think there's air conditioning

Absolutely loved my dining experience at Ho Jiak Haymarket! Every dish we tried was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The black truffle crab was definitely the highlight — rich, aromatic, and incredibly satisfying. The other dishes, from the truffle eggplant to the stir-fried greens, were all delicious and thoughtfully seasoned.

Usually the long queue scares me off, but on a Sunday night we walked straight in — no wait! Came with my bro and we ordered 4–5 dishes, finished every single one. Flavors were bold and varied, and I love that you can adjust the spice level — super friendly touch. First time trying Malaysian food with my bro and we were pleasantly surprised. My fave was the noodles, reminded me so much of home.

Amazing laksa with a super creamy coconut broth! I love that they serve both egg noodles and rice vermicelli. The Wagyu laksa is rich and flavorful, the Oyster laksa is fresh and unique, and their salted egg yolk chicken wings are simply addictive. A must-visit for laksa lovers!

I’ve been eating at Ho Jiak since university lol, and I absolutely love it!! Out of all the branches, this one has a cozy, intimate vibe that's perfect for hanging out with friends. Every dish we ordered was really delicious, especially the curry fish and curry fried chicken. The salted egg chicken wings also got rave reviews from everyone, they’re amazing!! The drinks come in jumbo sizes, like a full liter! It’s huge (and if you can’t finish it, you can take it to go, which is super worth it). The desserts are awesome too! I’ll definitely be back!

Cocktail bar
Dumpling restaurant
Uncle Mings is a basement bar in Sydney that offers an intimate and dimly lit setting with funky Chinese decor. The establishment's story dates back to 19th-century Shanghai, where a sweet potato seller turned police officer became one of the city's notorious figures before relocating to Sydney in the 1920s. The bar is designed to resemble a debauched opium den with red cage lights, vintage glamour shots, and incense wafts.
Super cool under ground dumpling Bar. The drinks are good. The sale was delicious. The various dumplings I tried were also very good and tasted great. The service is fast. The red lanterns and atmosphere definitely suit this place and match the ambience. A fun place to visit for a quick meal and drinks with friends.

Found this super cool spot near Wynyard Station—Uncle Ming’s! The vibe is moody and intimate with red lighting, perfect for a laid-back night. The dim sum was seriously good—juicy har gow and flavorful pork siu mai with just the right kick from chili flakes. Their signature teapot cocktails were such a fun touch—served in a pot and perfect for 3-4 people to share (or not). But what really made the night was the service—super friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. A hidden gem in the city that I’ll definitely be coming back to!

Nice spot for Friday night drinks with friends. Nice ambience albeit very dark inside.- fine for a cold wet winter night though. Seem to only offer table service and you need to view menus by scanning bar code didn't see printed menus. Happy hour is very busy 4-6 so they probably need to put on more staff for this service. 2hrs sittings goes quick. nice decor and friendly service

A Chinese inspired bar that offers dumplings and various whisky and cocktails, Uncle Mings is conveniently located within walking distance to Wynyard station. The bar is quite spacious with dim lighting. Staff though friendly are responsive. The dumplings are a bit expensive, but may be the only choice available during this time of the night. The place is has a chilled vibe and is good for a casual drink or date night. Worth a visit!

Uncle Ming’s is such a hidden gem! Their spiced rum with apple juice was hands down the best cocktail I’ve had in a long time – smooth, perfectly balanced, and dangerously easy to drink. The dumplings were just as impressive, especially the 5 spice pork dumplings, which were packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. A cozy spot with great vibes, drinks, and bites – can’t wait to go back.

A really nice bar with a great atmosphere and even better dumplings. The theme and decor was fantastic, and the themed cocktails were delicious too. The entrance was a little hard to find though because it looks like it's part of a suit shop.

I had such a cool experience here! I loved the vibes and decor. The spring rolls were so good as well as the BBQ pork buns. I just found the dumplings a little disappointing as they were really dry and sticky making them hard to eat.
Hannah — Google review
Hugely disappointing. 5/5 aesthetics but 2/5 for the cocktail & dumpling. The thing that turned me off was the music genre - 2000 R&B… in a Chinese-themed bar. Really? Not shanghai jazz or something classy? 😂 It was like a white person bought the space off Chinese person and just ran with it. Dumplings was sticky - likely overcooked Cocktail szechuan marg seemed interesting but the flavors doesn’t going well together. Also there was a corner of the room that looked super cool with the door but the seats were flushed to the wall (who would even sit there and feel comfortable to hang around. A lot potential for what it seems like a cool spot - what a waste.

Restaurant
Zilver is a renowned Cantonese restaurant located near the Capitol Theatre in Sydney. With over a decade of experience, it has become a popular spot for both yum cha and à la carte dining. The extensive menu offers classic dishes such as pork dumplings, Peking duck pancakes, and mango pudding. Despite being on the pricier side, the quality of food justifies the cost. The bustling atmosphere adds to the overall experience, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
Still one of the best Yum Cha in Sydney with nicely prepared yummy dim sum dishes. Staff members are friendly & helpful. It’s good for dim sum carts being pushed around inside the restaurant, Zilver just needs to offer a second ordering system to allow customers to pick what they want on a card (or use a QR Code ordering system). Instead of waiting & waiting for the cart with the food that you want to come near you. The quicker we receive the food that we want to enjoy, the quicker we finish eating & leave the restaurant to vacate the table for the next lot of customers.

My friends and I love have yum cha here, it's nice place (big, clean) just walk in..... Delicious dim sum, so many different from the green steam vegetable to fried wonton We ordered twice (two portions of steam hakao prawn ) yummy I was happy to see the white baits ( a bit salty) but I finished them all... Happy Ending with mangoes pancakes... Service? A Friendly staff and smile to us.... We love her service, we had a good time yum cha

Quality is ok to good, pricey for what it is, the service is all over the place and the pork not much flavour, the duck was tasteless and the chicken even worst. They bring you the rice first and then the meats 20 minutes later, not on guys, you need to learn to at least bring two dishes together, what you see in the picture for lunch no wine just bear over $150, pricey.

The food is great and the service nice but the atmosphere is loud as there is a lot of people but that is reasonable. The food is really good there is a reason why it’s so packed in there
Rachel L — Google review
The attitude of the workers are okay although I’m still baffled why one of the waitresses gave us the chilli soy sauce from the adjacent table when they were packing it up. The techniques are authentic Chinese Yum Cha but it’s on the sweeter side I assume bc it’s in a western populated suburb. The chive spring rolls are over priced but once again I dislike how everything is flavoured too sweet. Especially the savoury foods.
Ruoying W — Google review
A bit on the pricier side for yumcha but well worth it! We went at around 1pm on a Sunday and didn't have to wait. 🌟 What we ordered: King prawn dumplings Taro pies with minced chicken Steamed pork rib Chicken feet BBQ pork pies Prawn & chives dumplings Egg tarts I definitely recommend the taro pies (they were the best I've had in sydney!) and the BBQ pork pies. The prawn dumplings had the biggest, juciest pieces of prawn so I defs recommend :)

Yum cha has become a bit of a go to for us lately. we’ve always liked it, a lot, but nowadays it seems we are gravitating towards it more often than usual. We do love the variety it offers. We still know people who have never tried it too! If you haven’t - well, you should. Trolleys of entree sized servings of different dishes come around and you simply take al ook and say what you want. If that trolley doesn’t grab you, don’t stress. Another will be along shortly with more choices. Zilver has a good selection and the trolleys come around very regularly. This was good and we left full and very satisfied. The variety was good, the trolleys came around very regularly and it all tasted great. This place is well worth visiting.

Delicious food, a bit pricey when you have to pay $20 extra for vermicelli noodles on top of pippies. Peking duck was perfect, really enjoyed that. The yum cha is good quality.

Dumplings & Beer is a high-quality dumpling restaurant with an arty, high-ceilinged vibe and casual atmosphere. The staff are friendly and the selection of dumplings is great, with prices that won't break the bank. The restaurant is hot and stuffy upstairs, but overall the food was good and came out quickly. The fried dums were especially tasty, as was the pork bao.
If there were more stars on google, I would add more to this place. If are familiar with my review you know by now that for me the food experience is all about the interior, the team, the presentation and so many details i am picky about. This review is from my heart! You enter this place and you get warmly greeted by an enthusiastic happy lady. The experience starts at this very moment... it is a very small place with plenty of street seating. You feel at home with such a well trained hospitable team. The food is fresh, delicious, reasonably priced. The portion is fair. The lady makes sure your experience is going well. The jasmin tea is beyond delicious and the pot never finishes😊 she refills the water and the taste keeps on getting better. To be honest, this place has proved to me that hospitality is all about making the customer feel at home. And, I definitely did feel at home. Thank you so much for such a memorable experience..

Casual atmosphere that makes this place a good pick for a chilled couples night. A small but delicious menu accompanied by a good beer list, D&B is a good spot for most. You have to try the pork crackling sliders, they were perfect! The home made chilli is hot af loved it

The worse service, we literally were kicked out/asked to leave in an 1 hr and 15 minutes. Our bill was brought to our table without even being asked if we were wanting anything else, we never realised nor were told this is your first and last order and I hadn’t even finished my beer when we were asked 3 times to leave. When paying the bill I shared my disappointment and said I won’t be coming back and the waitress simply replied, good.... ouch!!! The beer is good, dumplings are good but expect to eat and run or get kicked out. A BIG FYI - their seating times are an 1:15 minutes to the second any longer and you get the boot.

It was pretty busy for a Thursday night, and we got a table easily but it took a while to get a menu. Pencil your order on a sheet of paper, cheap, no frills kinda place. We ordered the bao "a pork belly slider with crackle. Extremely crackly crackle and very soft tasty buns. We also got some excellent pork buns with thick pieces of pork inside. The prawn gow gee were also excellent. Top food. The beer asahi black wasn't quite right though. A bit fizzy.

Very friendly staff. Good selection of dumplings to choose from. Beer was nice and cold. Highly recommend the crispy pork sliders and the rendang sliders, and of course the Xiao long bao dumplings. But it was all very tasty.
Chris B — Google review
Food is definitely below average. Duck pancakes are microwaved, I knew because they were nuclear hot so I asked the staff and they confirmed it, dumplings were tasteless and I think the Xiao Long Bao came from a packet becuase the dough was so chewy and not a lot of flavour in the soup. At least they were consistent with the quality of service matching the food. I don't like giving bad reviews but this one was warranted

At David's Kitchen, I opted for the Mix Veg Laksa, a vegetarian choice amongst the limited options available. Initially unsure about its taste, I was pleasantly surprised by its deliciousness. The broth, comprising of coconut milk, was both spicy and flavorful. The vegetables were fresh and perfectly cooked rice noodles added to the dish's appeal. A single bowl of Laksa could easily satisfy two people with smaller appetites.

I went for the prawn omelette and sweet & sour chicken—both turned out surprisingly good! The omelette was fluffy and generous with prawns, while the chicken had that sticky-sweet flavor that instantly reminded me of comfort meals back home. It may look simple, but it hits all the right spots if you’re used to Asian flavors. The food came out super quick even though they were quite busy. The choy sum was surprisingly good, it was cook perfectly and the sauce with garlic was so flavourful. Pad see ew was ok, the hainanese chicken was a bit chewy and dry but the fried rice was soft and seasoned well.

Everything from David's Kitchen is fantastic!! Such good prices for filling, delicious food. My favourite is the laksa. I'm not so much a fan of the meats that come with the laksa though but that's just a personal preference. There's a vegetable option. The portion is sizing is so big and great. I've also tried the curry with roti. The bread was crispy and crunchy with the curry being flavoursome. My partner also loves this place and usually gets different meat with rice dishes, as seen by one below. I recommend bringing cash as its cheaper.

It has been years since I visited David's Kitchen, and I'm really glad I did! It was like a revived forgotten positive memory of this place. Whilst it is not a swanky place, the amazing good food and service knock it out of the park as a very deserving 5-star rating. Here are my highlights of my visit: - Service: David welcomed us warmly when we first entered the eatery. This is despite not really knowing who we were. He also was patient in addressing the questions and requests we had. His staff were also amazingly polite and speedy. Everyone was truly friendly and top-notch in their service delivery. David also checked in while we were having our meal if we enjoyed it. - Cleanliness: This place was very clean, and no table was left not cleared the moment patrons were done with their meal. The staff would check in if the plates were ready to be cleared as well before removing them. This is even before patrons leave the premise. I was also really pleased not to experience any greasy floors like a number of Asian restaurants of similar range could be. - Food: The food was cooked really quickly, which was great as we were hungry when we were placing our order. The food also tasted generally authentic. For the dishes we ordered, the star was the salty fish with chicken fried rice. Specifically, the flavour was almost decadent as it had a really good amount of wok hei a.k.a. breath of wok. David conveyed our request, and the chef truly delivered. Each grain of rice had a balance of flavour, and it was also at the right level of saltiness. Every spoonful of the fried rice, I could taste the flavour on almost each grain of rice. The amount of salted fish was at the right level, and the amount of chicken was good too. As for the ginger shallot chicken, it was decent, and reminisce of Malaysian of what one may find at a chicken rice stall in KL, Malaysia. There is room for it to be more tender and smooth as it felt possibly a little overcooked. Nevertheless, it was still enjoyable given it was thigh meat used. The chicken was also deboned, which made it easy to eat. Both dishes were of really decent portion sizes for the price. I truly felt it was a true reflection of value for money. - Love the fact that they do not charge weekend surcharges and, in fact, provided a 5% discount when cash payment is received. This in my books is a big plus & highlight. This is a place I highly recommend patronising for anyone considering to check out and do say hi to David. I will be happy to come back again.

It’s okay, edible. The laksa soup was very creamy and sweet, not spicy at all. The portion looks bigger than it actually is. 3-4 pieces of chicken plus 4 prawns. Prawns were shell off but not cleaned up. Chicken was very dry. I like they put some veggies in the laksa. Customer service was okay - neither good nor bad.

Nestled in the heart of Sydney, Bao Dao Taiwanese Kitchen is a delightful haven for lovers of authentic Taiwanese cuisine. This charming eatery boasts a vibrant atmosphere adorned with playful paper lanterns, creating an inviting space to enjoy your meal. The menu features an array of traditional dumplings and noodle dishes that are expertly crafted.
One of my favourite Taiwanese beef noodle soup, their beef soup is very unique, it is not heavy at all and have a hint of refreshing aftertaste, I prefer to add some vinegar and chilli oil from the shop and eat together. The soup’s flavour is very unique and I haven’t found it in any other place so I have to keep going back to this one for it. It’s a flavour that you will miss sometimes! Other dishes from the restaurant taste good too but they are ordinary Taiwanese which you may find elsewhere. The pricing is ok and great portion too, the restaurant looks better after the renovation last year. Highly recommend for all beef noodle soup lover to try it out!

This Taiwanese restaurant is a great spot for a satisfying meal. The food is delicious, and I especially enjoyed the fried tofu dish served with pickled cabbage (I forgot the name, but it was really tasty!). The flavors were well-balanced and authentic. The service was excellent—staff were very nice, friendly, and attentive. The place was clean, and the food came out quickly, making for a pleasant dining experience. Overall, a great place for Taiwanese food with good flavors, fast service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I’d definitely come back!

Here, everything is self-service. You place your order using the machine, and then help yourself to the dipping sauce from the serving table. The staff is friendly. While the beef noodle soup is of good quality, it is on the expensive side. Unfortunately, the pork and garlic chive dumplings do not taste great, as the chives remain quite hard. Additionally, their popcorn chicken tends to be dry, possibly due to the use of chicken breast.

The beef noodle is delicious ! Beef is well-cooked and the soup tastes so great. Small recommendations is the size of servings can be bigger😅
Monica Y — Google review
Beef noodle had a great typical Taiwanese flavour. Fried popcorn chicken wasn’t particularly tender or crispy. The bao was fluffy and the tartness of the pickled filling helped cut through the richness of the pork belly. Overall a good place. They had child seat but it is basically a self service venue and bathrooms are in Westfield.

Price : quite expensive (as the portion is very small) Taste : 2.5/5 *Not a Taiwanese, but before Covid, I go to Taiwan simply more than 6 times a year so I would say I love Taiwan food. But this restaurant is not what I expect. I would recommend for a try. But for me, won’t be a return customer. All the taste of the food is nothing special and tasteless. First, I think using chicken breast to make the Taiwan style basil fried chicken is a very bad choice. The chicken breast doesn’t marinate well and too dry. Also the signature beef noodle, the soup is very light which means maybe they didn’t add any MSG or chicken salt inside. That’s good but I think they can put something to make the soup stronger. (I am pretty sure about that, as even I finished the whole bowl of soup, it doesn’t makes me feel thirsty). More than that, we order the pork mince with rice (滷肉飯) which I think u can put more soy sauce 😂😂😂sorry, as I think the taste is too light. The pork mince with rice I ate in Taiwan is very rich and thick. And the eggplants, the skin of the eggplant is very chewy which is not easy to swallow and chew…. I recommend to use the small eggplants which is long and thin and more popular in “Chinese” cuisine. Surprisingly, the eggplant taste good. Very luscious. But could be better though… For 1 person dinner, I recommend u to order one main (rice or noodle) plus 1-2 dishes. As their portion is small. You can see what other people order before u make decisions anyway. But for a adult (normal eater). I think I can finish 2 bowl of pork mince rice and 2 dishes easily 😂😂😂 Thanks for reading.

We have never been here before but the service was amazing. He kept checking on us and seeing how everything was. They gave us time to eat our entrees before the mains came out which was lovely they were friendly people and the food was fantastic definitely coming back here again next time I come to the area.

We used to go to this restaurant a lot when it was owned by its previous owner, Sophie. Having been out of the area for a number of years, we hadn't been back for a long time, until tonight. The food was somewhat different to what we remember, which one would expect given the change in ownership and in the kitchen. However, the dishes that we ordered were generally quite tasty, particularly the Sang Choi Bow. The service was friendly. We went on a Saturday night. There were several tables still available, but there were a reasonable number of customers dining in and for takeaway.

Our local Chinese restaurant in Terrey Hills closed so we had to find a new restaurant. We came across the Golden Unicorn and we have been pleasantly surprised! Food is great, service is very friendly and they still have deep fried ice cream on the menu! Haven’t had that for over 20 years. The spring rolls were the best we have ever had. Anyway, whether you want to eat in or take away, we can highly recommend this business!

the food is really good and very reasonably priced. the food is very quick to be delivered and the staff are really friendly and talkative. probably one of the best chinese restaurants i’ve been to. underrated and deserves more recognition!

Ordered a satay chicken off Uber eats, specifically asked for no onions if possible as I do not like them - after 2 and a half hours of waiting for my food, I open it for it to be completely full of onions and only a few pieces of chicken. I’ve ordered from this place a few times and it has never been this slow or poor quality - pretty disappointing and I will not be reordering, but from reading the other similar ratings of this place it seems like they probably won’t care anyway.

Food is amazing! Love coming here Paul is so awesome and the service is so quick! Would recommend coming here for a local cheap dinner service was really good also BYO wine which is great.
Abbey S — Google review
Mostly very tasty food (stir fried veges were oily and tasteless). But not worth returning for. Waitress lovely! Manager VERY unpleasant... Spoke aggressively, charged $22 for a glass of wine that we thought was $14, charged extra for plastic boxes, humiliated and blamed his waitress for any mistakes that had been made. Did not allow for a pleasant atmosphere! Cold dining room (requested twice before any heater was turned on). Cold concrete floors, shabby interior, tacky mismatched decorations. Noisy, with take away orders being discussed over phone, drivers coming in and out. Not a pleasant place to sit for a meal. We won't be back.

The Hong Kong Diner is a popular spot known for its delicious and affordable food. Visitors rave about the variety of menu options, particularly the dim sum and main dishes like green dumplings with pan-fried and prawn dumplings. The wonton noodle soup and braised beef rice are also highly recommended. Guests appreciate the fast and efficient service, making it a great value for money.
Food is always nice here, I came here more than 5 times and was always happy to try new menus cause the price is very affordable. Their dimsum and main dishes are very nice! My favourite is green dumpling with panfried, and prawn dumpling :) Their wonton noodles soup and braised beef rice were very very nice too. And 10/10 for the place👍

I was disappointed by my food. It was not as advertised and anticlimactic. It was so salty and oily. The beef was unappealing. The staff could use a bit of a smile greeting customers and more approachable when being asked. However, I love going to spice alley. Just have to go to the right food stall.
Ash N — Google review
I made the mistake of not looking at Google reviews before ordering. Hopefully you don't do the same!!! As others have said the "claypot rice" comes in a plastic takeaway container and the pork is tasteless. On top of this, it took 25minutes from ordering time to receipt of food at 4:15pm - it wasn't even peak hour.
Titush — Google review
The claypot pork and sausage was super disappointing. On everything they gave me one tiny sliver of sausage in there, and the rest of the meat was like 60% bone. Rice was soggy too, and everything was too bland, even after pumping it with sauce. Also it took ages, they only had one person working there, but at least they use actual pots now!!!
MinkaS — Google review
This menu here is laughable, showing you pictures of clay pot rice but what you end up getting is just regular rice with some pre-made toppings scooped out of a big stainless pot served to you in a plastic bowl. 100% false advertising.
Jack K — Google review
For a reasonably priced feed this is good. Ordered the claypot and it is false advertising as it does not come in a claypot and thus missing the crispy parts at the bottom of the pot at the end. The dish was served in a plastic bowl. If you are looking for a proper claypot rice this is not the place to come to. If you are looking for rice, veg and seasoned pork/chicken with sauce then this is the place.

It was so much fun stumbling upon spice alley after a long flight and just keen for some flavour, the rainbow dumplings where great so went back for some more, and the steak and pepper noodles was delicious, also good just watching the dumplings being made right there in front of you,

Restaurant
Golden Century Seafood Restaurant (金唐海鲜酒家) is a bustling Chinese seafood spot in Sydney, known for its banquet menus and live lobsters displayed in tanks. It has earned an iconic status in the city, attracting renowned chefs and generations of loyal customers. The restaurant offers traditional Chinese seafood dishes and spicy creations, accompanied by warm hospitality. A must-try is their fresh lobster, abalone, and crab paired with a selection of fine wines.
I was absolutely blown away by the food – truly some of the best I’ve ever eaten. The dumplings in chilli oil are an absolute must-try, bursting with flavour and perfectly balanced. The salt and pepper beef melted in our mouths and left us speechless – I couldn’t believe how incredible it tasted. Honestly, every single dish placed in front of us was outstanding. This place is a gem, and I can’t wait to come back!

A nice Chinese restaurant with delicious food. Great location. Staff is friendly. Lots of food choice with seafood, meat and vegetables to suit different tastes. Service is good and we didn’t wait for long to have our dishes delivered.

Had yumcha here, the room is certainly a major upgrade on the poshscale compared to the old Golden century. Sadly service remains about the same, not great. Certainly expected more of the crown location there. For the food. The abalone tart is amazing, if I ever return it would just be for that. Everything else was decent, but quite overpriced for the same thing at a normal yumcha place would be 30% cheaper or more. Overall, its ok, worth a visit if you expect to pay the extra dollars for the crown location.
Denise ( — Google review
Since this is located inside the Crown hotel in Barangaroo, and expectation is high for a 6-star hotel. We had yum cha lunch and though the food was good, it wasn't not 6-star level. The Chinese tea was also of average quality. The most disappointment was the low-quality tea pot and cup which are mostly used in other restaurant with prices much cheaper. It this place was not located inside a 6-star hotel, it would at least score a 4-star rating.
David W — Google review
The XO pipis came with a fantastic sauce. The standout dish was the sweet and sour pork — beautifully crisp on the outside, tender inside, with a perfectly balanced tangy-sweet flavor. The M9 wagyu was underwhelming; I’m not sure which cut it was, but it lacked tenderness, and the sauce pairing felt off. The other two dishes left no real impression. The restroom was old, dirty, and well below the standard you’d expect from the restaurant. Service, however, was commendable — even during the busy rush, staff made sure to greet and check in on us.
E — Google review
Gone is the buzz and frenzy of a long awaited night at Golden Century replaced by a a beautifully appointed decor (definitely cleaner no question) A+ for staff attitude, the service wasn’t on point far from it and they had better things to do like fold napery….to be replaced by a … very pricey Chinese restaurant- it was just another fancy restaurant without the service one would normally expect (Golden Century was always about two things the frenzy and food) and well the buzz and amazing energy is gone, it might be different in larger groups of say 15-20 but otherwise Sydney has so many amazing options where you don’t need to pay xxxxxxxx and deal with average service, anyway I will relish the memories and search for another Golden Century
Sossi G — Google review
Abalone is my preference. Lobster was good. Down side is the price. Because if you go to an Asian country, you can expect a bill of about $150 total with drinks for the same amount of food you get over here! (

We've heard a lot about the famous Golden Century so we had to check it out. Located in the Crown, we had high expectations - it was good, but not "wow". By all accounts, food tasted good. Make sure to try the mapo tofu, siew mai, Szechuan chilli chicken and steamed fish. Peking duck was a mixed bag - the crispy skin with wrap was not good but the way they made the noodles after that with the rest of the duck was good. BBQ pork - too chewy, not good, skip it.

Restaurant
Spicy Joint Chinatown is a renowned Sichuan restaurant located on Dixon Street in Haymarket, Sydney. It offers an array of fiery and flavorful dishes inspired by the cuisine of the Sichuan province in southwest China. The menu features standout items such as Dry Braised Beef Tendon and Fish Fillet in Hot Chili Oil, along with affordable options like Dan Dan noodles and chicken and peanut dishes.
Hands down my favourite restaurant in Sydney. The most authentic Sichuan food that’s seriously delicious and seriously spicy!!! I have been coming here now with my family for at least 6 years and it’s never let us down. The service can be a bit slow at times and waitstaff aren’t very attentive but it makes up for it in quality of food and atmosphere. I could easily down at least 5 serves of the wontons in spicy sauce by myself. I love you spicy joint!
Breanna T — Google review
Great food ruined by terrible hygiene and rude service.Today, I travelled a long way just to dine at a Chinese restaurant in Sydney called Spicy Joint, hoping for a delicious meal. I ordered the stir-fried Chinese cabbage with crispy pork, only to find a strand of hair in the dish. I politely informed the staff and expected them to replace the dish — a basic standard in food service. However, instead of preparing a new plate, the male staff member (who seemed to be the manager — with his hair tied up in a bun) simply picked the hair out with chopsticks right in front of me and tried to serve it back like nothing happened. I told him I wasn’t comfortable with that and asked for a fresh dish, but from that point on, I didn’t feel like ordering it again. What shocked me even more was his attitude — aggressive and visibly annoyed — even though I had remained calm and respectful throughout. It made me question if it was my fault for finding hair in my food. To make things worse, when I moved on to eat the fish soup I had also ordered, I found another strand of hair in it. At that point, I lost my appetite completely. It’s extremely disappointing, because the food actually tasted good. But the service was unacceptable, and the hygiene standards were alarming. This was honestly the worst customer service I’ve experienced at a restaurant. Spicy Joint — I hope you take this feedback seriously. No one deserves to be treated like an inconvenience for expecting basic cleanliness and respect.

Quick service, plenty of table, food came out very quickly. I love the jelly noodle, fish sour pickle. Would definitely come back and try other dishes! Fish sour pickle is a bit spicy but to my liking, take the elevator to the restaurant. 2 dishes + a beer, less than $50. The fish soup is enough for 2 people.

We went for lunch, restaurant is huge so very spacious. We ordered some dumplings and hot and sour soup. The food was fine But I have to say what really annoyed me about this place was that the waiter saw there was only two of us, but didn't warn us that the soup we were ordering could have easily fed 10 people. Not only that we had to wait ages for it to finally arrive and imagine the shock we had when it did. Worse then they charged us for taking the rest of it away. Definitely never coming back here.

📍 Spicy Joint, Chinatown – Sydney Located right on the main street of Chinatown, Spicy Joint is easy to find and has a lively, well-designed interior. The atmosphere is vibrant, and the goldfish tanks at the entrance add a fun touch – especially for kids. 🅿️ Parking & Transport: Paid parking is available a few minutes’ walk away, but public transport is definitely the easier option with light rail, train, and bus stops nearby. 👩‍🍳 Customer Service: 4/10 Unfortunately, service wasn’t the friendliest or most accommodating. If you plan to bring your own cake, be aware they won’t serve it for you – you’ll need to cut and serve it yourself, and request cutlery or a lighter as these aren’t provided 🎂 🌶️ Menu & Options: 7/10 Plenty of Sichuan-style dishes and add-ons to choose from, with both dine-in and takeaway available. The dine-in experience is best if you want to enjoy the full atmosphere, though takeaway seems quite popular too. 📅 Booking Tip: Weekends get busy, so making a booking is recommended. They do accept walk-ins, but be prepared for a wait during peak hours. ✨ Overall Experience: 6/10 Great location and atmosphere with a solid menu, but service could be warmer. #Sydney #Australia #Chinatown #SydneyEats #Sichuan #SpicyJoint #AsianFood #ChilliLovers #ChineseFood

Food was great 😍 first thing idk what it was 🤔🍲 but it was spicey 🌶🔥 and it didn’t get worse the more you ate 🍴, it was well balanced ⚖️ and chilly chill 🆒. The second thing with eggplant 🍆 was nice sweet 🍯 and savory, usually dont like sweetness outside of a desert yk but this had perfect balance of sweetness 😌💛 that went very well with rice 🍚🥢 one of my favourite ⭐❤️. Then I really enjoyed the big serving of what plug called “golden beef soup” 🥩🌟 smth like that 🤷‍♂️ I really liked it 😋, had very tender soft beef 🐄 and very nice and warm broth 🥣🔥, inside had some chillies 🌶️ and evoking mushroom 🍄✨ and overall very comforting 🤗. Cha chaan teng (Hong Kong-style cafe)
Hong Kong style fast food restaurant
Kowloon Cafe Sydney is a Hong Kong-inspired fast food restaurant with retro decor and an atmosphere that feels like you're in Hong Kong. The menu offers classic Hong Kong cafe items such as sandwiches, dim sum, and noodles, but some dishes are done well and others could use improvement. It's frequented by many Cantonese customers which is a good sign.
My first place in Sydney was this cha chaan teng. I loved the decoration and also realized this is kind of a franchise and there are others in Australia too. I tried a wonton soup with noodles. I loved it! I think the atmosphere really makes it. I'd love to try the breakfast options or the sweet menu they have with breads and some coffee.

I think this place deserves a higher rating than the 3.9 it currently has. It’s not fancy but it’s just a nice HK cafe style food place. It’s good if you’re craving some comfort food. The restaurants look and feel are also really cute. I’d recommend people to give it a try.

I come here quite often for my lunch break. This place never disappoints me and the food is always good. Ordering is convenient with QR code, staff are quick and efficient. They have an extensive menu so there's lots to choose from!
Sel — Google review
Kowloon Cafe is a tight, no-frills spot offering a reliable taste of Hong Kong-style comfort food. The menu leans into classics like silky wonton noodle soup, crispy pineapple buns with butter, and hearty baked pork chop rice—all executed with homestyle simplicity. The star for many is their milk tea, rich and fragrant, served hot or iced. While not groundbreaking, dishes like the soy sauce chicken rice plate or beef chow fun hit the mark with generous portions and bold flavors. The casual, bustling atmosphere feels nostalgic, though seating can be tight during peak hours. Service is brisk but friendly, catering to diners looking for quick, satisfying meals. Prices are reasonable, making it a solid choice for a casual lunch or late-night bite.
Lincoln L — Google review
The service was friendly and food arrived quickly. The stir fried noodles were good but the HK wonton noodle soup was surprisingly bland. With a 15% public holiday surcharge, our bill came to about $45 which was quite high for what it was.
Rhys T — Google review
This spot is straight-up Hong Kong comfort food: loud, fast-paced, packed with people, and no fluff. good food that comes out hot and fast. We got a mix of baked rice dishes (seafood, beef + pork), and they were hearty. Cheesy tops, bubbling sauce, that classic HK-style tomato flavour, burn-your-mouth kind of satisfying. Also tried the egg-over-rice with both beef and char siu. Simple but hits. The eggs were soft and fluffy, soaked in sauce, and paired perfectly with the rice. Definitely feels like a hk version of omurice Nothing fancy here, but that’s the charm. It’s the kind of place you come to when you want to eat well, not take Instagram pics. Would come back for a late night feed or casual dinner, no doubt.

Loved the authentic Hong Kong vibes at Kowloon Café! The decor really brought back that old-school charm — neon lights, tiled walls, and nostalgic details everywhere. We tried the signature thick French toast, Kowloon special snack combo, fried chicken wings, XO char siu fried vermicelli, cheesy baked chicken rice, and the four-meat rice bowl. Everything was full of flavor and the portions were generous. The milk tea and yuenyeung were also rich and satisfying. Great spot for comfort food and casual catch-ups. Will definitely be back to try more from the menu!

✅ Kowloon Stir-fry Recommendation 🥪 Signature West Toast One bite, the outer layer is fried to a crispy texture, the inside is a fluffy bread heart, a thick layer of peanut butter and butter melts in the mouth, the aroma is super rich 🤤, and then drizzled with condensed milk, sweet to the heart! Be sure to eat it while it's hot, and you'll get full points 💯 for happiness. 🍳 Double egg fried rice Double eggs catch the eye as soon as they are served! The golden and flowing egg yolk is wrapped in distinct fried rice, and a spoonful is full of aroma, and the egg aroma mixed with the rice aroma is super satisfying 🥰. 🧀 Baked rice is a must-order 🔥 for cheese lovers! The cheese on the surface of the gratin is baked until slightly charred, the drawing effect is super windy, and the rice grains inside absorb the sauce, and every bite is a rich cheese aroma. 🍢 Curry fish balls are a classic Hong Kong-style snack, fish balls are chewy and flavorful, paired with thick curry sauce, spicy and slightly sweet, especially suitable for snacks while eating and chatting 😋. 🍗 Secret chicken wings Chicken wings are fried crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, bite open and have meat juice, the surface is coated with a special sauce, with a little sweet and salty aroma, the more you eat, the more you eat~ ☕ Hong Kong-style milk tea silky and smooth, the ratio of tea and milk flavor is just right, not too sweet, iced and hot are delicious! It's the perfect CP🥤 to go with toast. 🏮 Environment Retro Hong Kong-style tea restaurant, green and white tile walls, booth sofas, street elements of old Hong Kong, as soon as you sit down, you feel like you have traveled to the streets of 📸 Kowloon. 💡 —— Summary: This tea restaurant is of a high level whether it is signature toast or classic snacks, and the atmosphere is also very feeling, I highly recommend friends who like Hong Kong-style food to try 🙌 it!

Located in Marrickville, the Bob Hawke Beer & Leisure Centre is the flagship venue of Hawke's Brewing Company. The center not only serves as a brewery but also features a leisure area with an uncanny cultural tribute where visitors can enjoy delicious food and drinks.
Fabulous! They’ve taken old-school Chinese food and brought it up to date with flair and flavour! Fresh, real ingredients and generous portion sizes. We tried the recommended classics: prawn toast (OMG!) and deep fried Viennetta (yum) and they lived up to the hype. Mushroom fried rice was delicious without the old school grease, and a wonderful Murray Cod with ginger and shallots was perfectly cooked and subtle in flavour. Lovely retro room with a backdrop of the fermenting tanks to remind us that we’re actually in a brewery. And out the back is a wonderful showcase of photos of our country's most charismatic and fun loving ex prime minister, with some memorabilia donated by the Hawke family. Such a fun and delightful experience for a Thursday evening. We’ve already booked again to come try out more dishes. Special thanks to our waiter Harrison who provided the most unconventional and amusing service that I had ever experienced, and still managed to give great warmth and hospitality. Great retro venue, cool vibe, delicious food bringing back the comfort Chinese food we grew up loving, and snappy and attentive service. Do yourself a favour! OH! And did I mention the beer? It’s a brewery after all. Great selection of craft beers with tasting flights available. This place rocks 🌟

This was our second visit. Weekends are tricky as the restaurant only takes reservations for 4 or more and even though we arrived around 11.45 and perched ourselves at a bar table, the restaurant’s reserved tables remained infilled until we left around 1pm. This place trades itself on nostalgic old school Chinese food. Well, I was around in the 70’s and 80’s when Chinese food was a mainstay of Australian dining and I can assure you, it was nothing like what was dished up here. Ok let’s talk about the positives. Music is great, bar staff are welcoming and accommodating. The vibe is pretty cool. The food is ghastly. We ordered the soup dumplings, they were ok, not made on site, probably frozen from some wholesaler. The garlic prawns were swimming in a grey sauce, check out the photos if you don’t believe me. Crab omelette was not like anything we had experienced anywhere in Asia or even in a backwater Australian town. The cod was acceptable, but tasteless. The food was around $150 for two people. I’m pretty sure one can do better than this anywhere else in Marrickville. Visit here for the fun vibe, the great music and the overpriced drinks. Don’t eat here

Looking for the good old slap up Chinese meal? Look no further! Heard about this place and was impressed by the gluten free options for classic 80s Aussie Chinese. It’s like a staged time capsule to the 80s with a good dose of humor. Make sure you book because it was busy! But that only added to the atmosphere. Good beer, great food and friendly staff. What else can you ask for. Definitely going back. May be for Sunday yum Cha next time. (Without the coeliacs)

We had an average experience at Hawkers Brewery in Sydney. The venue itself has a nice setup and the beer selection is quite extensive, which was great to see. However, the overall vibe felt a bit underwhelming. Service was polite but not particularly engaging, and there wasn’t much atmosphere during our visit. While it’s a decent spot for a casual drink, it didn’t really leave a lasting impression. We were hoping for a bit more energy or something unique to set it apart.

This place is awesome, whoever came up with this concept is a genius. $24 for a Margarita is absolutely ridiculous, but the rest of the place is GOLD. Hearing Ritchie Benaud cricket commentary when walking into the men's room is just perfect. Great food, generally good staff (the table wait staff are great), great beer, best decor for those of us who remember our beloved mildly corrupt PM Robert Leee James bloody Hawke. Wonderful venue. Just don't order a Margarita.

The food at The Lucky Prawn inside the Bob Hawke Beer & Leisure Centre was surprisingly good. I forgot to take photos but this place serves up super-tasty Chinese food with a side of what's fast becoming a tidy lineup of classic Aussie beers. The Prawn Toast is king, 4 steamed dimmies that packed a flavour punch, the crab omelette was silky smooth, prawns in XO yum, and the old school sweet & sour pork and beef in black bean sauce served on a sizzling hot plate is every bit worth the money (which isn't expensive, especially if you're there with a group). Our bill came to around $75pp and included a bottle of white wine, 4 pints and 2 glasses of rosé.

A cheeky spot with delish food, yummy drinks and a good atmosphere. Yes, it's a touch pricey, that's what you get for all the Inner West coolness oozing from the bricks 😂 The food is a modern play on 1980s Chinese food, which has been done really well. It could have gone over-ginmicky, but our dishes were really yum. We ordered shrimp toast, shitake omlette and Mongolian lamb. On a Sunday, they were booked, but we grabbed a high-top table which suited just fine. 📱 Can order by QR code 🚘 A bit of a hustle, you'll circle the block for a spare street spot when busy 💳 Takes credit card 🚻 Clean toilets with 80s cricket playing over the radio

Amazing spot for a relaxed night out with friends! The oysters were super creamy, especially with the $2.5 Wednesday special — a must-try. Loved the cheesy but light corn ribs, juicy chicken bao, and surprisingly crisp prawn toast. Honey chili wings were a bit dry, but the lamb chops were tender and flavorful. A huge thank you to Austin, who was fantastic to work with—super helpful and responsive while coordinating our booking and all the details in the lead-up to the big day. We also really appreciated the flexibility in allowing our florist to come in early to set up before our official booking time, which made a big difference in bringing everything together beautifully. On the night itself, the space looked stunning, and the atmosphere was exactly what we had hoped for: intimate, stylish, and full of warmth. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious—our guests genuinely loved everything. Special thanks as well to Kiera, who took the lead during the reception. She was attentive, professional, and quick to handle any little things that came up, helping everything run smoothly so we could just enjoy the evening. Ni Hao Bar played such a meaningful part in making our celebration so special, and we’re truly grateful to the entire team. Highly recommend Ni Hao Bar for any special occasion. Amazing team, great food, and a beautiful setting.

A very good experience. Both my friend and I had empty plates. It was so delicious! The plate patterns are very distinctive and the presentation is exquisite. Highly recommended wagyu truffle rice! I didn't find it on the menu at first. It turns out that you can order Wagyu Flank Steak for $8 and get a delicious meal !!!! Duck Pancake, it tastes good. Each piece of meat is thick and fatty but not greasy. Bang Bang Chicken, I love it!! Spicy and fragrant sesame paste flavor, refreshing and refreshing, very de-greasing!! Their Bao is very famous. This time we ordered Tempura Mushroom and Katsu Pork. Highly recommended!! All are extremely delicious! I really want to come and eat again! One on Tuesday, Bao4.5!! Let's go for it!! Scallop Ceviche is springy and firm, with slowly diced Onions on top. It has a slightly sweet and sour taste. The two drinks are quite generous. Just Peachy has a very fresh peach flavor and is quite delicious. Berry Bliss really impressed me. This one is alcohol-free, but it's extremely delicious! Sweet and sour! Overall, I really enjoyed the meal! The layout of the entire bar is also very atmospheric.

My friend and I had a wonderful time! The service was exceptionally amazing. We had chosen the 60pp 7 course meal which we shared for each course except for dessert but it filled us up quite quick! I had an espresso martini, gin and coke as well as a cider and a Ms. Lychee mocktail! Everything was just well made and succulent to the bite of it all. We had a great time! Try to go on a weekday to relax throughout the evening with exceptional food this summer here!!

Amazing food and great vibes! The dishes were full of flavor, beautifully presented, and perfect for sharing with friends. Service was friendly and the atmosphere made it a really enjoyable night out. The new $20 skewers set is also a great deal — highly recommend!

Loved the vibe here! Great atmosphere, tasty food and creative cocktails. The salmon sashimi and duck pancake were amazing. Staff were super friendly and attentive — perfect spot for a night out with friends.

Great place! Fantastic food, drinks and service. We had chicken wings, edamame, beef skewers, prawn wontons and natural oysters served on ice. All fabulous!! We would highly recommend Ni Hao
Ingrid K — Google review
From the foods, drinks and the music definitely won't disappointing. The location just a few minutes walk from townhall/ museum station. Its located in the civic hotel on level 2. We had the wok&roll menu with 5 dishes plus 1 dessert for $55 per person. The drink prices also reasonable and they have DJ in the house. Nice place to hang out with friends.

Chinese restaurant
When you find yourself in Haymarket, a visit to Beijing Impression is an absolute must for any food lover. This upscale restaurant specializes in Peking duck, serving it with crispy skin and expertly carved tableside. The menu features a delightful array of northern Chinese dishes that are hard to come by elsewhere, including unique sides like jellied blood and chicken feet. With family recipes blended with modern twists, you'll also discover braised sea cucumber and grilled pork belly among the offerings.
Delicious Peking duck! The skin was super crispy, and the meat was tender and tasty. Great service and clean place. Highly recommend!👏
Chenxin F — Google review
Interesting to see a young man, quite talented in slicing their delicious roast duck. Would wish for him to put in some more interaction with customer haha otherwise all dishes were decent enough. Their noodles were bland. Definitely give the duck combo a try! Skin is so crunchy and flavourful.
Adaline ( — Google review
Amazing Peking duck. My second recommendation is the double flavor shrimp. I really like the refreshing tea (pear juice, I think) and the tofu dessert. I had a group seating for just our friends, another plus
Chantrea P — Google review
If you come here and don’t get the duck as part of your meal, you kinda miss out on their specialty. They have someone carve it up right next to you so it comes with a little ‘show’ but because sometimes everyone else is doing it, you do have to wait a bit for your turn. The other dishes were honestly okay with no real wow factor but they were fine. They do need to provide a bit more filling for the duck pancakes as you will find yourself with limited amount of pickled vegetables, spring onion etc but you can ask for more thankfully. The place is also well decorated and looks pretty cool to be in and also take note there is also a weekend surcharge so I recommended coming for a weekday dinner.
Phil L — Google review
I am sorry but the Peking duck here is really dry. The beer is room temperature and if you ask for a cold one you are gaslit and told it's from the freezer, you end up getting ice in a glass. The final indignity is paying 2% surcharge on a direct debit, that's the movement of cash from your account to theirs, no credit risk and no merchant fee. Appalling all around.

Wonderful decor with elaborated woodwork, birdcages, mandarin trees and two enormous branches encased in glass. Service was prompt and efficient. 🙂 Their Peking duck took me back to Beijing when I visited years ago. The skins had the same wafer crisp texture which melts in your mouth. There are only two restaurants in Sydney I visited can achieve that. 🙃 The meat was succulent and moist, it was very authentic. Other dishes were ok. Some good and some bad. Good ones were Mustard Sauced Duck Web, Soy Sauce Pig Hocks and Fried Rice with Meat & Vegetables. 🙂 The most unimpressive dish was Imitation Crab Flavour Egg. The menu photo was deceiving for there was no match to the dish was served apart from that fancy crab shaped bowl. 🙄 That dish is supposed to cook the egg whites until they fluff up into clouds that look like crab meat. What we got was just a bowl of egg drop soup. 🙄 One standout dish was the dessert Flaming Sticky Rice Cake as Honeycomb Briquette. It comprised of fried black rice soaked in fruit and brandy then lit on fire at your table for the theatrical presentation. 😃

Beijing Impression offers an authentic and memorable dining experience that beautifully captures the flavours and culture of Northern China. The dishes are rich, aromatic, and carefully prepared, striking a perfect balance between tradition and creativity. Standouts include the signature Peking duck, which is roasted to perfection with crispy skin and tender meat, as well as a variety of hand-pulled noodles and dumplings that taste fresh and homemade. The restaurant itself has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with décor that reflects Chinese heritage while maintaining a modern touch. Service is attentive and friendly, making the experience feel both welcoming and refined. Whether you’re visiting for a family gathering, a special occasion, or simply to explore the depth of Beijing cuisine, Beijing Impression consistently delivers high quality and an unforgettable taste of China. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy authentic flavours in a comfortable and elegant setting.

If you find yourself in Melbourne, Zensation Tea House is a must-visit destination that promises an unforgettable experience. This charming tea house is renowned for its warm and welcoming atmosphere, thanks to the delightful hosts Raymond and Ada. They go above and beyond to ensure your visit is special, offering expert recommendations on their delicious tea selections while also demonstrating the art of pouring tea. The culinary offerings at Zensation Tea House are equally impressive.
We visited Zensation for the first time today and had a lovely time. The different teas we tried were wonderful and the dim sum was delicious. It was also a pleasure to meet Raymond, the owner and tea master at Zensation, and his nice staff. He was kind enough to show us how to drink and appreciate one of the teas we ordered - milky oolong, which was aromatic and complex. We had a great time and look forward to our next visit. A fantastic Sydney institution!
Ellie L — Google review
Highly recommend! The staff and the owner were all very friendly. There are plenty of tea choices, and the dim sum was absolutely delicious—I especially loved the shallot pancakes! They also have a selection of tea sets for sale, with so many cute designs. Definitely worth taking some time to browse around! I will definitely visit this place again!

Awesome, amazing experience!!! Staff are super friendly and they greet you like you are entering their house. The tea master Raymond, is fantastic explains every part of the tea ceremony with some wisdom. The variety of teas served, were explained, the nibbles at the start are divine and the dumplings are freshly made, exquisite!!! Very enjoyable afternoon, thank you!!!

Zensation – A Perfect Pairing of Tea, Dumplings, and Hospitality I first visited Zensation over a year ago, grabbing a quick lunch of dumplings and browsing their beautiful selection of teapots and teas. I took home some incredible Japanese tea and made a mental note to return—this time with my better half. Fast forward to a Friday night date, and I finally had the chance to share this little gem with her. I called ahead to confirm there was space, and from the moment we walked in, everything felt just right. The atmosphere is warm, vibrant, and welcoming, and to our delight, there was also a tea appreciation evening happening—an added bonus that made the experience feel even more special. Raymond and his wife Ada run Zensation with clear passion and care. Raymond helped guide us through the menu and offered thoughtful tea pairings. Together with their team, they create an experience that’s equal parts delicious and memorable. We ordered: • Shallot Pancake (8 pcs) • Shanghai Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) • Guangdong Pork and Prawn Siu Mai • Prawn Dumplings • Roast Duck Dumplings • Spring Rolls (Pork) • Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings (6 pcs) • Shanghai Pan-Fried Pork Buns (4 pcs) It’s tough to pick a standout because everything was genuinely excellent. That said, the spring rolls were a real hit and the prawn dumplings ticked every box for me. We slightly over-ordered (as you do when everything looks amazing) and took the pork buns home—though they didn’t last more than an hour once we were back. Tea selections: • Milky Oolong – their most popular tea for good reason. Fragrant and subtly creamy, we loved it so much we took some home. • Jasmine White Rabbit – another beautifully fragrant tea that paired perfectly with the meal. To top off the evening, we finally purchased a handmade Chinese tea set—something I had resisted on my first visit in the absence of my partner. It’s been well used since, often accompanied by sips of our new favourite tea. Raymond and Ada are a passionate and generous couple, and their love for what they do shows in every part of the experience—from the menu to the conversation. We can’t wait to return with friends and share what we’ve found in this truly special place. Thank you for such a memorable evening

Amazing tea, service and atmosphere. The flavors are great, especially the milky oolong (one of the best I’ve ever had) and the mango green tea. The presentation is wonderful. Relaxing music, and great service!
Sonya C — Google review
Great selection of teas, friendly and knowledgeable staff and a great range of tea accessories to boot. Will have to come again to try the food but the Da Hong Pao and Jasmine white rabbit teas we had this time around were amazing!

Absolutely loved this place! The tea selection is fantastic, and the vegetarian food options are both delicious and varied. A cozy spot with great ambiance and attentive service. Highly recommend for anyone looking for delicious flavours and a relaxing dining experience.
