The water is clear, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the scenery is stunning 🏖️✨. Unfortunately, there are quite a lot of glass shards on the sand, so you need to be careful if walking barefoot. Hopefully, it gets cleaned up more often because this beach truly deserves to stay pristine. Overall, still one of the best spots to escape the city buzz. 💙

I love this beach! Good spot to go for a nice dip or a picnic by the water. It feels very private as well. Not too much crowd during the weekdays. There are several spots on the rocks and shoreline. It's close to the trail and offers incredible views of the city <3

Gordons Bay feels like a little secret wedged between busier Coogee and Clovelly. The path drops from the coastal walk into a quiet amphitheatre of rock shelves, boat racks and water that swings from pale jade to deep blue as the light changes. It is not a sandy beach in the classic sense and that is part of the charm. People find a flat patch of rock, spread a towel, and let the sound of the swell bouncing off the cliffs do the rest. On calm mornings the bay looks like a giant aquarium and you can see right to the bottom from the edge. Bring a mask if you can. Snorkelling here is the main event, with an underwater nature trail that threads past marker drums on the seabed. Even if you do not follow the whole loop, you will meet schools of sweep and mado, see kelp move like slow fire, and there is a fair chance of spotting a friendly blue groper cruising the rocks. Entry is easiest from the pebbly corner near the boats or via a low shelf when the tide is kind. Fins help if there is a bit of surge at the mouth. On bigger days the bay breathes with the ocean and visibility drops, so checking the wind and swell before you commit pays off. A few practical notes. There are no lifeguards or facilities right at the water, so use the toilets and grab supplies at Coogee or Clovelly before you drop in. Parking is limited on nearby streets and rangers patrol, which makes walking in along the coastal path the least stressful option. Rock shoes save your feet, a dry layer keeps the seaside breeze from biting, and arriving early buys quieter water and easier spots on the ledges. Beautiful picturesque beach. We parked near Clovelly Beach where there is many parking spots and then walked along to Gordons Bay. It is a small beach with rocks and looked like a peaceful place to swim. Lots of little boats stacked along the shore so possibly a good spot for fishing. Also if you are looking for sea glass there is lots of sea glass between the rocks and sand.

🔴Hi everyone, I went to this beach four or five times to swim and dive. If it’s isn’t windy water is clear and you can see underwater . There are various kind of animals . But you should be careful cause while I was diving on the left side . I have been attacked by blue jellyfish. Just in case wash your body with fresh water and also when you are entering in the water there are many stingrays . Watch your step ☺️🔴

Very very rocky, not much space on the sand, good for snorkeling if you know what you're doing and good for paddle boarding, everything else is ok, a lot better in the area.

One thing to note is that it's not as easily accessible as some of the bigger beaches, and parking can be a bit tricky, especially on weekends. But if you don’t mind the walk, it’s totally worth it. Bring your snorkel gear, pack a picnic, and soak in the beauty of this little slice of coastal heaven.

Excellent all day free street parking and quiet beach for locals. However, no amenities such as shops and cafes. Sand can have a bit of stones and sticks compared to nearby Balmoral Beach. Water has sea grass so a bit darker. Secluded, so good for swimming and children, reduced waves.

Lovely quiet east facing beach with amenities and a park just a but inland. Residential area so no shops or restaurant options but there is paid parking. This is usually much quieter than other beaches in the area, such as Balmoral. Incredible houses all around

Beautiful cozy beach with all facilities around. Dogs are supposedly prohibited but there were quite a few off leash dogs around.

Despite the racist name this is a fantastic beach! It is perfect for a calm day at the beach to swim at, relax and sunbathe! With beautiful views and great places to rest this a must go to beach. I personally love coming here often. There are a couple downsides such as the sand and the seagrass but the rest of the beach makes up for it! Overall, come here for a good beach day with kids or without because you won't regret it!

This IS the beach for you if you’re done with waves. Nice spot for sunrise chasers too. The park nearby is good for bbq/picnic. It was only a 30min commute by bus (from St Leonards) + 800m walk from bus stop so a big plus for me who doesn’t own a car. From what I saw, parking could be very scarce or none at all when you arrive here around 8:30am on a weekend or public holiday so be sure to be early.

Can be reached from Collins Beach by foot if you're courageous enough. Much easier during low tide.

Store Beach is truly a Touch of Paradise on Sydney harbour. It's One of my favourite beaches to chill out at in Manly. You have to get there by boat or Kayak and sometimes when it is a super low tide you can walk around from Collins Beach and then go around to Quarantine Station. Good beach but not worth it if you can't kayak there. A few mates and I walked there from manly wharf all through the bush there. Bushwalk is very fun but very far. THERE IS NO WAY TO BUSHWALK BACK. To get home we ended up walking along the rocks back towards Colins flat beach.

I hired a self-drive hire boat from Manly Kayak Centre and drove to Store Beach where I proposed to my fiance with a beautiful picnic. Store beach is beautiful, romantic and an untouched slice of paradise. Only a 10 minute boat ride from Manly Wharf and an experience I highly recommend. The folks at Manly Kayak Centre are very affordable and accomodating too!

A beautiful beach but you can only get there by sea, so maybe you could rent some muscle if you don’t have a powerboat to get to the beach.

Nice little beach... no nude bathing, in case you were wondering! ❗ Wondering why that's on the sign? It's because Reef Beach was actually a nude beach from the '70s to the mid-90s. ⛱️ It's a perfectly pleasant place to relax, and the water is very calm. It's not very big and there aren't amenities, except for the toilets. ✨ Site of an Aboriginal midden. Look to the right as you come down the track to the beach. I've uploaded a picture of the sign. 🚻 Toilets directly opposite the track to the beach. 🚶‍♀️ On the Bondi to Manly (and Spit to Manly) walk.

It's really nice to have a rest after short hiking and also a perfect place with not too much people to enjoy beach.

Beautiful small beach - the colour of the water is just exquisite! Have to walk to get to it... quite a few stairs. No toilets/showers/anything. But pretty!

A hidden gem of a beach, perfect for the adventurous. It’s a bit of a trek to get there, with steps leading down, so wear practical shoes and pack light. Some people arrive by jet ski, but hiking in makes the dip at the end feel even more rewarding. The beach itself is small and secluded, a peaceful spot to cool off mid-hike. Keep an eye on your snacks though, the local lizards lurking in the bushes are bold and won’t hesitate to steal your food!

One of my favourite beaches in Sydney. I’ve spent years eyeing it out on Google Maps and finally decided to venture there for myself. Love the vast trees behind the sand, it feels slightly magical. Hike from the car park took around 20-30 mins. You don’t need hiking gear. My friends and I did the walk in thongs and our swimming clothes. The water has some jellyfish in it, be cautious of them.

Beautiful private beach with calm waters. Had to go down a lot of stairs but it was worth it. We went on a weekday afternoon and there was only us two the whole time we were there. Swimming was great, there were cool rocks and we even saw a monitor lizard

The walk from the picnic spot down to resolute beach is beautiful. Totally picturesque and feels isolated from the rest of the world! It cost $12 to get a car pass into Ku-run-gai Chase national park for the day. Then park at the picnic spots and take the walkway down to resolute beach. Would recommend packing a backpack with waters, snacks and sunblock as there are no taps with drinking water close to the trail. There are loose stones and steep stairs down, that feel much steeper on the way up so I would recommend this trail to people that are able bodied, with strong ankles and moderate (as a minimum) cardio vascular fitness.

This one beach that really takes a little effort to get to but so worth it . There is a cascade that runs all the way down to the beach and collects in a pool on the beach . The waters hear is so clean and clear and from the beach it takes in views palm beach and headland. There is some nice natural rocks features and pools hear to explore also .

Topping off our already perfect Holidays. Decide to go for a bush walk and beach picnic. This is a great spot for a bit of hard exercise followed by a seren swim and relaxing picnic. The scenery and seclusion is amazing. Will be taking in more bush walks along the many tracks.......be warned no amenities close by and be a little fit for the walks.

I was lucky enough to visit on a warm winters day mid-week, so the trail was almost empty at mid-morning, and what a scenic little spot this is. It’s a stark reminder that despite living in a busy city, we also have national parks on our doorstep, and you can almost lose yourself in these wildernesses. The Resolute Loop Trail runs around in a loop from the carpark all the way through to Resolute Beach, and ending on the other side at West Head Lookout. Assuming you start from the carpark, you’ll wind your way around to the lookout, and it is then a short walk from there, once you’ve soaked in the vast vista’s, back to the carpark. Enjoy the day, take your time, and be thankful that you have such wonderful escapes that you can explore at your leisure.

Not really a beach so much as a tiny strip of sand between some expensive looking houses/yacht club and the marina. The sand was only a few feet in width, but the views over the water were pretty. I wouldn’t make a trip out here just to see this beach, but it could be a relaxing place to rest if you’re in the neighborhood. Also, FYI, there were signs warning of the sting rays in the water, so be careful if you decide to slash about.

Visited the beach on a weekday evening to view the sunset. Not as big as some of the other beaches in Sydney but that's what makes this beach stand out. The view was spectacular. The ambience was also wonderful as no one else was around. One point of discontent is that there is no signage along Wolseley road indicating that the stairs and the passageway leads to the beach. People may hesitate to walk through on the thought that they could be trespassing private property.

Sand is beautiful, and the view is lovely but at medium to high tide this beach is very narrow with the sea walls of the private gardens greatly ruining its atmosphere. It was quiet though.

It's a fun beach. Waves are a decent size although the current does seem to gain in strength randomly. There's so much to do around the beach though in terms of exploring, with walking paths on both sides. It's also very easy to get to with the 333 bus.

Got to be done right? It’s iconic for its surf scene and the Icebergs swimming pool. Plenty of people on the beach and in the water. Was a little surprised that the T4 train didn’t take you closer than Bondi junction so whilst we had anticipated a fair walk I just wonder why the line was never extended. That said it was nice to just sit and people watch.

Manly Beach is absolutely stunning! The sand is clean, the water is crystal clear, and the whole area has such a relaxing holiday vibe. It’s perfect for swimming, surfing, or just enjoying a walk along the promenade. There are plenty of cafés, restaurants, and shops nearby, so you can easily spend the whole day here. The ferry ride from Circular Quay to Manly is also a beautiful experience on its own. Truly one of Sydney’s must-visit beaches — highly recommended! 🌊☀️

My first trip to an Australian beach was to Manly, and it was amazing! The ferry ride from the city was beautiful, seeing the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge from the water is something I will never forget. When I arrived, I was so impressed. The sand is so soft and white, and the beach is so long and wide. It's different from the beaches in Phuket or Koh Samui; the vibe here is very active, with so many people surfing! The water was a beautiful clear blue, a little chilly for me, but so refreshing. I loved walking along The Corso, grabbing some fish and chips, and just watching everyone enjoy the sun. It felt so relaxing and happy. Manly Beach has a wonderful, laid-back feeling that is the perfect introduction to the famous Australian beach culture. It’s a day trip I would recommend to any of my friends back home in Thailand!

One of Sydney’s iconic beaches it was great to visit it during our recent stay. Gee it was busy around both the beach and town area. But that didn’t stop me from venturing in for a little swim and a play in the waves. The waves are huge and I was knocked over twice but that’s part of the fun right. Whilst we sat on the beach we witnessed a surf rescue. Those guys are superb at what they do.

Offer a perfect mix of laid-back vibes and stunning coastal views, ideal for both surfers and families. The scenic ferry ride from Circular Quay adds to the charm of the experience. Plenty of cafés, shops, and walking paths make it great for a day out.

Such a beautiful slice of heaven for dogs 🐕 and their families! ☺️ parking might be a bit hard on a hot day but plenty if you park before the dead end street. The stairs down to the beach are very narrow, but only about 10 steps.

As far as secret Sydney Harbour beaches go, Kutti Beach is right up there. Make your way to the end of Wharf Road in Vaucluse. When you see the wooden boatshed—it’s the Vaucluse Amateur Sailing Club building—look for the gap in the fence and a very narrow wooden staircase heading down. It’s the only way in and out, unless you have quite a few million to buy one of the mansions that overlook the beach. Once you’re there this is a beauty, but not on high tide, when it nearly disappears for a couple of hours. We came mid-tide and it was great. Locals use it as an unofficial off-lead dog beach, which is cool with us, but as such it does get very popular from around 9am. The early birds get the free local street parking. There are no facilities of any kind, but it’s worth it and we’d return for sure.

Overall it is nice but be careful with the shady areas. Some people don't take their dog’s stool… they should take responsibility for their pets!

Such a beautiful beach! Still and crystal clear waters!

Shame that this beach is technically an on-leash beach! Such a good protected place to let puppies run around and have a swim. Maybe if there was a better fence between the sand and the private property the council would consider changing the designation. None the less, clean water, choice of rocks or sand to lie on. Street parking limited but safe to walk down Wharf St (?) with your dogs.

Now I get why this beach has ROCK in its name. Cozy little spot. No waves. Plenty of people. Tonnes of boats bobbing around. But the water is great and so is the view on a clear day.

Very nice beach however quite small and can get packed quite easily, there's very little sand but a lot of rocks to set up on. Water is quite calm, with only small tides from boats. An ice-cream boat shows up every so often which is nice. Signs say no dogs allowed however there were dogs there so up to you I guess. Parking is terrible, due to it being all small residential streets, however it is part of a bigger walk around Manly (which I have not tried) so you might not need to park directly at the beach.

Super small and secluded beach along the spit to manly walk. A bit of rubbish washed in which is a shame people cant take better care of the area but otherwise nice

Absolutely stunning location, with beautiful views. Clear water and visits from the icecream boat are awesome. Dogs on beach (not sure if officially allowed or not). Only downsides are going back up all the stairs and no bathrooms.

Another gorgeous little beach tucked away in the Sydney Harbour. If you want to avoid the crowd, this beach is just perfect. To access the beach, make your way down the walking track (Manly Scenic Walkway) via Ogilvy Rd. It's a descending walk through the bush. We enjoyed the calm water & surrounding nature.

Parking around Coogee can be a bit of a mission — especially on weekends, holidays or during summer — so arriving early or planning ahead is wise. Coogee Beach is the easy crowd-pleaser of the eastern suburbs, big enough to feel lively yet sheltered enough that the water often stays friendlier than its neighbours. On calm mornings the water can be startlingly clear, and you will see schools of fish sliding past if you bring goggles. If the swell picks up, the Ross Jones Memorial Pool beside the surf club offers safe laps with those photogenic concrete turrets, and a few minutes further south you find Wylie’s Baths with timber decks and open ocean views that go on forever. The park behind the beach turns a quick dip into a proper outing. Goldstein Reserve has lawns for picnics, tall Norfolk pines that throw real shade and barbecues that are popular on warm evenings. Families spread out near the playground while walkers drift along the promenade with coffee. Cafés and casual spots line the strip, and the Coogee Pavilion at the northern end is an easy meeting point if you are gathering a group. Showers and change rooms are handy, lifeguards keep a close eye on the flagged zone, and there is usually a corner of sand that feels a little quieter if you wander a hundred metres from the main entrance. The end of the costal walk for us was Coogee bay and its fab beach. Lined by trees and also home to the rainbow beach entrance it’s a place to chill, get a bit of sun and perhaps a dip in the lifeguarded ocean. Toilet facilities together with some green space and a number of cafes make this a great spot. Enjoyed more than Bondi.

One of my favorite places in all of Australia. So beautiful. So serene. I can't believe I grew up in Sydney and only went for the first time a couple years ago. It's definitely worth the drive.

Wattamolla Beach is an absolute gem! From the stunning blend of beach, lagoon, and waterfall to the peaceful natural surroundings—it’s the perfect spot for a relaxing day out. The views are simply breathtaking, and it feels like a hidden paradise not too far from the city. We enjoyed the calm waters of the lagoon, and the little walk to the lookout was totally worth it. Great spot for a picnic, swimming, or just unwinding with family. Definitely a place I’d love to visit again and again!

Absolutely gorgeous beach located close to the walking tracks and BBQs. 4 parking levels available on site, but the place is so incredibly popular during the weekends that if you come after 9 am, all parking would most likely be full. S, plan accordingly. BBQs use gas and open fires are often not permitted. No puppies are allowed in the National Parks in NSW. You can swim in the creek or the sea. Very safe for little kids.

Little Bay Beach – My Favourite Hidden Gem 🌿 Lily Bay Beach is, without a doubt, my favourite beach. There’s something so special about its untouched, natural beauty — no crowds, no noise, just the peaceful sound of waves and the soft breeze. It feels like a secret place where time slows down. The sunsets here are absolutely magical — the sky turns into a painting of gold, pink, and purple, reflecting on the calm water. Every visit leaves me feeling recharged and inspired. If you’re looking for a quiet escape with breathtaking views, Lily Bay Beach is a slice of paradise. 🌺

Such a great little hidden gem! One of my favourite beaches to come too. The water is beautiful. They have lifeguards on duty. There's a set of stairs to get to the beach. Bins and showers also available. Small kiosk upstairs that do drinks. Plenty of street parking available.

This is a niche beach. There are not many tourists, and they are basically locals. The scenery is beautiful and charming, which is suitable for children to play.

For a swim spot on Sydney’s eastern seaboard I’d rate this not the best but not the worst. Water is kind of clean with some rubbish and Debris in the water. The council needs to put up a floating debris collector. Otherwise this beach is a perfect spot for a midweek swim.

Great little beach, however parking looks to be a major limiting factor, especially on weekends. To get there you have to follow a path thru the golf course and then stairs down to the sand. There are plenty of rocks to explore on either side of the beach. There are unisex public toilets and a water bubbler.

Very good. Calm . Less people. Few cafe accessible. Don't expect more than this from a less crowded beach 🏖️. Golf ⛳ is the thing that you should be mindful about. Don't walk in the golf course. Gorgeous "out of the way" beach. Water was super clear. Beach was sandy and clean. Great little bushwalk at the end with some aboriginal engravings. Locals are quite friendly. Parking was challenging but well worth it!

Peaceful and quite beach which is connected to the Jibbon loop track.Swimming is great here but be mindful that there are no surf life saving services provided. The water is also quite deep a few meters out. However no toilet and shower facilities here.

Love the walking track. A great place to escape from the city crowd and spend time with your loved ones.

A beautiful discreet part of the National Park, pity there are no public toilets. A tip , get there early to find parking nearby otherwise there quite a walk. A nice beach to go to for the day. Don’t think there are any lifeguards but the waves and water seemed relatively calm. Parking is the biggest issue as most people rely on street parking, which is limited. You’ll see people parking up on kerbs etc, it is kinda just what you need to do 🤷‍♀️ There is a nice hike that loops from the beach, which isn’t too long or difficult!

Beautiful place to see the sunset. Google maps led us to the wrong place so be careful of that. A fair amount of trash strewn about. Not officially a nude beach but we weren’t the only ones there.

This beach in la perouse area. Not too crowded there. Many people swim and just see the scenery. I want to visit this beach again.

nude beach with a gay crowd mainly. if you are traveling from the city it's quite a journey and not sure it's worth the hassle- especially middle of the week. The water come pretty inwards and leaves little space for towels and people to sit

My favourite Sydney beach. Hidden in the National park and about a 15 min walk from parking. It’s a nudie beach so there’s usually NO CHILDREN which is amazing as I like peace and quiet when I’m on the beach reading a book. The water usually a great temperature to swim in and always nice and clean. Occasionally it can be high tide and you may struggle to find some sand/beach to sit on but overall it’s generally fine. Can get busy during summer, so if you can get public transport you’re better off doing that as parking can be hard to find.

Basically it’s a nice nudie beach, but due to time constraints I made the mistake and wanted to get tanned all over on a beautiful Sunday morning. Apparently many other people thought the same and that’s why at 10:00am it was super crowded on this slim and tiny beach. I could find some space on the adjacent rocks only and after a couple of hours I decided to leave, as there were just too many people around. Hopefully I can enjoy the sun next time on a week day or so.

Bronte Beach is one of Sydney's most popular beaches ⛱️ for families. It has free BBQ facilities, a ocean pool, the boogie hole and a small natural ocean rock pool,it's gotten a lot busier than last year and a few months ago. Almost impossible to find park!! But if you can get past the parking challenge!!! It's really cool 😎 to see 👀 Bronte Beach ⛱️ busy as this 😀 with everyone having fun 😁 great vibe. Very family friendly spot

Nice and quiet beach close to the manly national park. Nice sunset and view of the bay. The walk to get there is as beautiful as the beach. Fun to spot all the little sculptures in the rock along the way!!

Shelly beach was a great spot to swim! There are great shower and bathroom facilities just next to the beach, and the water was lovely. Lots of snorkelers, surfers and swimmers around.

By far the most relaxing beach we've been to around Sydney. It gets busy but feels less cramped than other popular beaches. There's some nice shaded areas here too

So beautiful for a snorkel. Waves were a bit strong for beginner divers but manageable if you have fins! Lots of blue gropers and beautiful fish.

Clovelly Beach feels like someone carved a giant ocean lap pool into the coastline and invited the whole city to share it. There are stairs and ladders along the sides, plus a shallow ocean pool at the southern end for anyone who wants a gentler paddle. The bay is protected, which makes it ideal for kids and less confident swimmers, but there can be a bit of surge closer to the mouth, so it pays to keep an eye on conditions. On warm days the concrete heats up quickly and shade is limited, so a hat, sunscreen and a water bottle are essential. Rock shoes help if you plan to hop across the edges to find a quieter perch. Practicalities are well covered. Lifeguards patrol in season, the change rooms and showers are tidy, and there is a kiosk for coffee, cold drinks and hot chips. Parking exists at both ends but fills early on weekends, so arriving before mid morning keeps things simple. If you feel like a stroll, the coastal path to Gordon’s Bay offers another lovely snorkel spot a few minutes away. Clovelly’s best trick is its simplicity. You can turn up with a towel and goggles, pick a spot on the promenade, and be in postcard clear water within minutes.

The boardwalk running along the bay is perfect for strolling and enjoying the coastal views. ​The vibrant Clovelly Surf Life Saving Club with its stunning murals (and convenient cafe) adds so much character. It was great learning about the local swimming legend, Tom Caddy, on the memorial plaque near the pool. Loved the community buzz and watching everyone enjoy the water. Clovelly Beach is peaceful and unique, with a natural rock pool vibe, clear waters, and ideal spots for snorkeling.

Not as picturesque as the other beaches we passed on our walk and from a distance looks like a concrete lined bay. Sandy spot of course but the concrete nature of either side of the bay turns it into a natural swimming pool with a number of people doing lengths up to where the waves break and back. Quite a sight.

Perfect stop for the beach in Sydney. Took the ferry over to Watsons bay, was a 20 minute ride to get to the area, and then a 10 minute walk to get here. Perfect summer spot although there were lots of kids there on a Monday. Would recommend as well as the walk to the end of Watsons Bay

Although the new 15 minute parking limit on surrounding streets is a bit selfish and me thinks a fame changer as the carpark isn’t that big. Suggest taking the ferry of you can, to Watson’s Bay and making the pleasant meander around.

wow, such an incredibly beautiful secluded and safe harbourside beach, found hidden away along the South Head Heritige Walk. Water is crystal clear and sparkling blue/green waves gently and curling onto the pure white sand. A hidden treasure.

Avoid the crowds at Bondi Beach by heading to Camp Cove, Sydney’s most intimate beach, where you can pitch your umbrella at the very doorstep of one of the city’s priciest homes before floating in the wave-free harbor. Immediately north of Watsons Bay, the small swimming beach of Camp Cove is popular with both families and topless sunbathers. When Governor Phillip realized Botany Bay didn't cut it as a site for a convict colony, he explored north into Sydney Harbour, dropped anchor and sunk his boots into Camp Cove's gorgeous golden sand on 21 January 1788.

Light house, sydney city skyline, sea shore small house, camp cove beach and Dyoles fishermans wharf seafood restaurants/outlets are all in the Sydney city east. Bring camera!

A truly beautiful and peaceful place to explore! The views over the bay are stunning, and the coastal walk is easy and enjoyable for all fitness levels. The historic Captain Cook’s landing site adds a meaningful touch, making it both a scenic and culturally significant stop. However, a couple of things to keep in mind: there are limited bathroom facilities and not many parking spots close to the main attractions. I’d recommend arriving early, especially on weekends, to avoid a long walk from your car.

Kamay Botany Bay National Park is an absolute must-visit for whale watching during the season! We had an incredible time spotting whales from the elevated lookouts – truly breathtaking. Beyond the whales, the park's natural beauty and trails make it a fantastic day out. Don't forget your binoculars! Highly recommend this stunning spot.

Nice suburban type park. Plenty of places to walk. Not lit so after dark a flashlight is needed. Several beautiful views even on a short ish walk.

Kamay Botany Bay National Park is located at la perouse. It a large park and i read its one of the best walking tracks/trails in a number of sites about walking trails. I have admitt my friend and I were confused and couldn't work out were any thing was ,we got tired hungry and needed to use the restrooms 🚻 so we gave up. We saw the Westpac life savers rescue helicopter 🚁 hanger. We also saw some kind of old lookout thing next to some other concrete objects!!! We couldn't see the anything but bushland, so i don't know if in fact this was a lookout or the bushland grow blocking out the views 🤔 we took one track the one next to the Westpac life savers helicopter 🚁 hanger which lead to the cliff edge. There was strong winds and we didn't feel safe getting to close. We couldn't see much. A friend told me the day before that he saw whales and dolphins 🐬. We ended up checking out congwong beach ⛱️ which is part of kamay Botany Bay National Park. Beautiful little beach. This park is not far from Bare Island and Frenchmans beach. Just above congwong beach is la perouse snake 🐍 show also known as snake man of la perouse. I remember coming and watching the snake 🐍 as a young child with my family. I think the snake man does his show Sunday's 1.40pm and public holidays. Check la perouse snake show site for when it is on

🌊🐋 Absolutely unforgettable experience! Went out to sea for whale watching and it was magical. We saw several whales breaching. The views were stunning, and the connection to nature was truly humbling. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting the area – worth every moment!

Beautiful coastline walk. In the winter sunny days you can just sit here and watch the whales 🐳 we were very lucky to saw them last winter .

Forty Baskets Beach is usually a secluded little beach in Balgowlah with a netted tidal pool in the middle, but on a hot Invasion Day morning it was far busier than usual. Before colonisation it was used by original custodians the Gai-marigal people and there is a midden deposit under the grassy area at the back of the beach. According to historic sources, this midden even yielded skeletons, the last of which were removed in the 1970s. I read that they ended up in museums. Typical. The name? It commemorates an epic fishing catch hauled in there in the late 19th Century, which was used to feed a group of soldiers who were detained in the nearby Quarantine Station after returning from the war in Sudan. The echoes of the history of British settler colonialism linger here in other forms too, from the trees that were poisoned by some of the residents to improve their view, to today’s land grabs of public space by rows of blue and white cool cabanas. Sydney’s obsession with real estate writ small. It’s a tough day to feel positive about anything much, but we could tell that on any other day we would have thought this was a pretty place with all the things: outdoor showers, change room BBQs and free parking on the adjacent streets. The crowd were mostly local white families, interspersed with Fijian and other Pasifikan First Nations families who were having great fun. Seeing the latter enjoying their day in and around the pool made us smile despite everything.

Lovely little beach, but I suspect most of its fame is due to the legend of its namesake rather than the actual quality of the beach. 🐟 Forty baskets gets it's name because of a day in 1885 when a group of men caught, you guessed it, 40 baskets of fish. ❗ This beach is difficult to pass at high tide (at the southern rocky end), so follow signs for the alternate route if you're doing the Spit to Manly walk. Pleasant place to hang out, distant enough from Manly that it's not too crowded.

Quiet little beach located off Beatty Street in Balgowlah Heights. Great spot to rest or have a picnic if you are doing the Spit to Manly walk. Seat's and tables, enclosed pool, free electric bbq's, toilets and change room's available nearby. Safe spot for families with kid's, and there's some swings too. Fresh water available from bubbler's, if you wish to purchase coffee,drinks or food, the Forty Beans Cafe in Lower Beach St. (on the way to Manly)is the closest, being a lesuirely 15 minute walk away. This well hidden Harbour beach is a bit of a challenge to get to without a boat but worth it. The council are rebuilding the netted swimming area. Take everything you need as there are no shops anywhere nearby.

A well protect family beach. No rolling waves. There’s a shark-protected swimming area. Toilets and change room located along the pathway to the south of the main beach. Swings here for the kids. Public showers. Some park benches and a public BBQ.

Great beach for a swim and relax looking over to Fairlight Rock Pool, Delwood Beach and Manly Cove... most people seam to walk straight past on there way to Reef Beach or towards Manly.

Lovely spot, little changed over the years. Parking can be a bit of an issue. There are some stairs down from Beatty St but they were no issue at all for us. Water in Sept was cool but still bearable. Very pleasant spot.

My favourite beach. There is a restaurant where you can eat while looking at this beautiful view where you can literally see 3 beaches from the other side of the harbour bridge. Also, there are tons of green spaces to chillax and overall it’s just so nice there ❤️❤️❤️

Beautiful harbour beach, with a gentle incline, no waves, and shark nets for safe bathing. The terraces and grassed areas for sun-bathing, the classic changing sheds, and a great cafe for your favourite snacks, drinks and lunches - this is a wonderful place to spend a halfday with family and friends. For smaller kids, it’s a great place for a paddle.

Nicely refurbished and pretty comfortable for a concrete sitting area. Be aware there was a warning about asbestos contaminated debris.

It is a delightful little beach, but the crowds are a real detraction. On the warm to hot days during the holidays it is a bit crazy. There is clean sand, plenty of concrete steps to sit on and a decent strip of sand to spread a towel, if you can. There are lots of trees back from the beach and shady grass, and the crowds don't congregate there. The pavilion change room closes at 6pm And parking is about as bad as it gets, so go early, or late or park elsewhere and catch the bus for a few stops- check for routes.

Stopped by on a whim, and it turned out to be a really chill spot. The beach isn’t fancy, but that’s what makes it great. Soft sand, not crowded, and the sound of the waves is all you hear. I ended up just lying down for a while, soaking up the peaceful vibe. Some people nearby mentioned a small shark that appeared on the beach a few days ago. Apparently, a kid named it tralaleritostralala, which was a bit funny. At first, I thought it was just a myth, but they seemed pretty convinced. It definitely gave the place a bit more character. beside peaceful vistas, All Light Melts, tales imagined 4or 1slands 4ade, voices 3often, swirling in unspoken 0aths, questions linger, yet all 1s 4ated, 1mpulses 4lutter. _ seeing 4licks, minds listen, _ hope 0verrides night’s 3hadow.

I can't believe after all the years of works and effort put in.... Why didn't the council include an accessible MLAK toilet facility! There's disabled parking etc... but nowhere for me to shower easily and change. Extreme disappointment 😢

Wonderful place to visit, not a big beach but some grass area to sit and relax in, walking trails nearby. There's also a cafe and washroom/shower facilities.

great walk with amazing views.. easy to moderate trek with some steep steps but manageable not that hard. It's part of the Hermitage walk and we can join in and out of the walking track via the dedicated walkways.. includes boardwalk and natural rock steps

Queens Beach is a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere make it a great place to visit!

Nice spot, and the walk wasn't too strenuous, although there are stairs that are uneven in spots, but a handrail is provided. No bins were provided.

Nude beach. It was a first for me. Weird seeing both men and women of all ages naked at a beach. It was a nice spot, quiet, and had beautiful water.

Beautiful spot, water colour is amazing, great view to the city and camp cove car park close by. It is just highly unfortunate that this clothing optional beach has the usual assortment of middle aged male undesirables patroning these kinds of beaches in Australia lurking and watching and perving. This beach should have its clothing optional status removed, not only so women can feel comfortable to access this place, but also as the location is beautiful but the beach can only be used by those who can deal with the feeing of uneasiness around these kinds of men, especially if you are attractive. If you're not anything to gawk at, then you'll fit in fine here.

The T is that the beach is very gay friendly, yes you can see the guys looking for it, but also everyone very respectful. A great experience 🌸 Also: 4.20 friendly place :)

A quiet small beach with a little nice waterfall. Nudity is permitted. The Beach is open from 5am-10pm. A lot of ppl go there during sunny day.

An amazing tranquil beach! It’s definitely not the easiest to get to with approximately 6 minute bush walk followed by a fairly steep climb down to the beach, but well worth it if you can do it! I’m pretty fit and agile, so I’m not 100% sure how those less agile got onto the beach. There’s no toilets, no change rooms, no facilities, no lifeguards. It’s just pure nature! This is also a clothing optional beach!

Pretty big beach with lots of room to roam and a huge cave to protect you from the rain and sun!! It's an "unofficial" nude beach which is even better. Definently only for capable walkers, the track down is a bit rough and to get on the beach you have to climb down the cliff face which is safe but a bit steep. Remember to take all your rubbish with you, we dont want our beautiful beaches ruined or sea life polluted and dead.

The beach in the area Dobroyd Head, turn in after Aboriginal Rock Engravings and follow the path on maps. The path to get to the beach is very rocky and can be dangerous (wasn’t able to go down). You can enjoy nice view from the cliff. Ps: the grotto point lighthouse is not worth the walk, better go back to main track after the Washaway Beach.

Beautiful and quiet beach. Worth a visit during sunrise /sunset with fantastic view. You can also try walking the trail from Spit to Manly.

You need to visit the beach prior to 2pm as you will miss the sun coming down on the opposing side, that’s if your there for the beach experience. It will take you approximately 10-15mins to walk to the beach from your car, the cliff edge to climb down is not suited for those with height issues or are not mobile enough to climb up or down. Great panoramic views reaching across from Manly to Balmoral.

A muddy, moderately hard walk down to the cliff top overlooking the beach. Gorgeous lookout, however washaway Beach lived up to its name - completely washed away with angry looking waves crashing on the cliffs. May be a victim of our recent storms. Not a place to go for a beach experience at the moment. Great for views

Australia is full of beaches everywhere and this one we could say it’s just one more into that list, but we wouldn’t be fair to its beauty. There is a path to arrive to it that it’s slightly tough at some points but with good shoes should be enough ( I was actually in flip flops) and at the very end you need to climb an easy wall ( at least in the walk I know ). Anyway, the beach is stunning and never too crowded and it kinds of give you the feeling of being completely on holidays while you were 10 min before stuck in the traffic. I really liked and I hope you will do if you ever have time to pay it a visit.

This is a great little quiet beach. What might draw it back is that it isn’t really the best spot for those who want to surf in comparison to other beaches in the area, and can become a difficult place to stay when it is very windy. Though if you appreciate a quieter beach spot then this is a good place.

Great spot but bit of a hike up and down and parking is limited but I guess that's why it feels so private.

You'll need to park on the street, few limited spots there. Then you start walking down the hill, a lovely track that opens up to the beach. Went there on a Sunday but there was very few people there, quite calm and private.

Lovely beach, absolutely beautiful except the crane spoiling the view but hopefully will be not long to go away. Yes, will be visiting over and over again. South Cronulla a bit too small for my liking but North Cronulla is wow.

It was packed when we went there so the swimming area(between the two flags) has very limited space for people. The waves are quite aggressive too, but it was a great beach otherwise.

Stunning views, diamond shinning ocean. Local cafes are great and always friendly staff. Wonderful place to walk, jog, sit and relax. Awesome life savers! must place to visit.

I enjoyed an invigorating walk, roundtrip from Cronulla Beach to Wanda Beach, on the Cronulla Beach trail during a visit to Cronulla in mid-September 2025. It's a clean, well maintained trail with parks and places to eat nearby. Nice beaches!

We decided to go to cronulla Beach for expedition. It was a lovely ⛱️, with so many places to sit and enjoy the view.The realise restaurant was amazing with a great view while we ate lunch.

One of the best place to be. Amazing waves and good environment to chill. Must visit when you are around Sutherland shire. One of the best beaches nobody want to miss. A nice beach with a white sand. Lots of shade around the Rocky areas. Great eateries surrounding the area. A relaxing place to have a cup of coffee by the beach.

Lovely beach, no crowds since it’s a part of the Quarantine station (now a hotel). It’s accessible for everyone, not only the hotel guests. You need to park your car at the reception (or get off the bus there) and then walk some 15-20 minutes. The stairs are heavy, but it’s worth the effort! At the bay, there’s a restaurant, a cafe and a very interesting museum (free admission) about the Q station, highly recommended!!!!

Quite busy place when you have a nice weather

It’s like a secret base in Sydney. Most people who go to manly beach wouldn’t go to this side. There’s a free shuttle bus of Q hotels. And there’s a very long and steep stair, if you want to get there by walking. But if you want to go back to manly beach after sunset. You’d better have light when with you. It took me a while walking to bus stop, and there is a few parts without street lights.

Lots of Sydney history here. A quiet little beach that’s connected to QStation hotel. Nice place to get a coffee and go wandering. Ships that have dropped off passengers over the years have engraved their names on the sandstone cliffs. Such a beautiful quiet National park so close to Sydney and Manly.

One of the better beaches in Manly. Beautiful Crystal clear waters. So much history in this area. There is an amazing cafe and excellent restaurant as well as a museum about the Quarantine Station. Definitely worth a visit when you are in Sydney #LetsGuide #manly #northhead #Sydney #Australia

It was one of my favorites during my visit.

Just a little beach, and not very remarkable except for penguins! 🐧 Yes, penguins! Manly is home to the only colony of penguins in NSW, and these fairy penguins are also the smallest species in the world. They're protected, so dogs must be kept on leashes. You can see them at sunset certain times of the year.

It’s a small clearing with a very nice view of Sydney Harbour about 50 meters from Delwood Beach. It doesn’t have a name so I’ve included it under “Delwood Beach”

Clear turquoise waters and less crowded than nearby beaches.

A local gem. Good snorkeling. Lots of fish. Sheltered beach. Good for swimming. This is a local gem, quieter than either manly cove or Fairlight beaches. Beach access is by stairs only so is not recommended for those With accessibility requirements. There is connection into the spit to manly walking track and grassy areas above the beach perfect for yoga, a picnic, or a book. Delwood beach, like neighbouring Fairlight is a prime location for snorkeling with lots of fish throughout the rocks and seaweed on the eastern side of the beach. I have seen sting rays and flathead as well as countless smaller fish species.

This beach has a special place in my heart and I've been coming here for many years now. Be careful if you're going for a dip as there are no lifesavers on this beach and is great for an early morning stroll or to clear your head. Highly recommend 👌

Beautiful cosy beach but no toilet facilities available and almost no parking spots around. So better walk through there from North Narrabeen or Warriewood beaches and enjoy the views from benches alongside the cliff top track.

Truely spectacular and the welcoming waves unfolding here at your feet give a unique experience for me compared to the other northern beaches.

Being right next to the very popular North Narrabeen means this beach is often very quiet and peaceful especially earlier in the morning. Beautiful location for a walk during sunrise. There is a fair amount of street parking at the top with a short walk down some stairs to the actual beach itself.

Nice beach with crystal water. Good spot for fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding. Restaurants were there also, you can easy get drink and food or bring your own food to enjoy at the beach.

Wonderful day out for families or take a book, relax and read, walk along the esplanade. Lots of options. Lovely beach areas not over crowded when I went, (it was during school holidays). Nice cafe and restaurants. Good clean toilet and shower facilities.

The harbour beautiful beach with crystal clear water. The small island is very good for sun bathing.

Nice and quite beach with picturesque views and island style scenery. There is ample parking which is free after 8pm. Wide sidewalk along the beach and beautiful hill tops overlooking water, perfect to find inner peace, yoga, or meditation.

One of the best beaches in Sydney. Even though the beach is small compared to other beaches, it really is splendid. The greenery makes the place special. Also as it is situated a little inside from the main ocean, the waves are not so strong. Must visit!

The beachy enclave of Balmoral faces off with Manly across Middle Harbour, and has some good restaurants and a beautiful swimming beach. Split in two by an outrageously picturesque rocky Point Island accessed by a little bridge, Balmoral attracts picnicking North Shore families. Swimmers migrate to the shark-netted southern end .Balmoral Beach is a beautiful, sheltered beach with calm waters ideal for swimming and families. The promenade is perfect for a stroll, and there are several excellent cafes and restaurants nearby, offering stunning views and delicious food. The surrounding parklands and walking trails add to the area's appeal, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed day out.

You will love the waves as its gentle ,beautiful beach. But parking is $10 an hour

One of the best beaches at northern beaches area. Free street parking just 600-700meters from beach. However, not much in terms of food and shops.

Freshwater beach is a real tourist favourite. It is fairly sheltered by big headlands on both sides so you dont get eaves in as many conditions as you do North or South at Curly or Manly but they are great waves on their day. Fantastic walk along the headlands from Curl Curl and an even more interesting one along the rocks towards Manly.

Amazing and secluded beach. Quite easy to access if you like stairs. Definitely worth hiking south to the next two beaches as well. Quite a bit of elevation gain, but it is an absolutely gorgeous area and worth the effort.

This beach is a short walk from West head lookout cca 25 minutes. It’s ok going down but on the way up can be challenging as it has many stairs ( like few hundreds 😬). Beach is small but lovely and definitely worth visiting. Water was lovely clear, and it wasn’t crowded although it was long weekend and school holidays. By mistake we thought it’s the Resolute beach but that one is further down the trail so we left that track for another time.

Great hidden little beach. Rocks make it a little tricky for swimming, so suggest the nearby Resolute beach is better for a dip. Went in late April and the water was not too cold.

Nice little beach. Water was still quite chilly at the end of October but not too bad. The beach is close to West Head and not too remote, so there were a few people there.

Day pass tickets were on a QR code displayed on the parking ticket machines. Amazing look out near the parking and a 20 min bush track to get to the secluded beach. Must visit!!

Difficult to access, down some narrow and steep steps but worth the walk. It is not a long walk down from the carpark and reasonably fit people should have little trouble. The beach is small but on the day we visited only a few groups were present. Nice and quiet with a sandy beach and calm sea for swimming.

This little beach only comes into being once every few years and locals never know how long it’s going to last. Usually it’s just rock formations. Something to do with the tides and the sand.. anyway, it’s here right now!

my favorite beach so far! so close from where i am living, the waves are gentle in the morning and can be a bit rowdy in the evening and during windy time but water is so clear, the sand is nice. perfect beach for swimming and popular with family with kids, so you know it is generally safe. the only downside is no trees big enough to provide shade, so you’ll have to compete with people who seek shade on the rocky area near the beach.

Always a great spot. Even a bit better on a cloudy rainy day because the crowds stay away. Parking was pretty easy and it was a great time all up The waves are nearly always calm and the water clean and clear. The sand gets a bit of flotsam. The toilets are near the entrance from the carpark so go on the way in.

Facing Botany Bay rather than the open ocean, the beach is known for its calm, gentle waters, making it an ideal spot for families with young children and those who prefer a relaxing swim over crashing waves. ​The beach itself is a sheltered, sandy stretch with beautiful views of the bay and the historic Bare Island Fort. It's a great spot for picnicking, sunbathing, and simply enjoying the natural surroundings. Snorkeling and scuba diving are also popular activities, especially around the rocky outcrops at either end of the beach and near Bare Island, where you can explore vibrant marine life. Fishing is also a possibility from the rocks. ​It's important to note that while Congwong Beach is family-friendly, its smaller, more secluded neighbor, Little Congwong Beach, ​The beach is easily accessible from the main La Perouse area, with a short path leading from Cann Park. Public facilities, including toilets and cafes, are located in the main park area near the start of the path, so be sure to plan accordingly. ​Nearby Attractions ​The area around Congwong Beach is rich with history and natural beauty, offering plenty to explore beyond the sand and water. ​Bare Island Fort: This historic military fortress, built in the 1880s, sits on a small island just offshore. It's a fascinating site to explore, and guided tours are available on Sundays. You might also recognize it from the film Mission: Impossible 2. The waters around the island are a major draw for divers and snorkelers. ​La Perouse Museum: Housed in the old cable station, this museum tells the story of the French explorer Jean-François de Galaup, comte de La Pérouse, who arrived in Botany Bay just days after the First Fleet. The museum is open on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays and provides a great look into the area's rich history. ​Kamay Botany Bay National Park: Congwong Beach is a part of this larger national park, which offers a range of activities. You can take a scenic walk along the Henry Head Walking Track, which follows the clifftops and beaches, or explore other historical sites and natural features like the Cape Banks Walking Track. ​Local Cafes and Restaurants: After a day at the beach, you can find a number of cafes and restaurants in the La Perouse area to grab a meal or a coffee.

A good place to stay for a picnic with friends or family...and if you are amateur about fishing that will be very awesome spot for you ..parking will be hard to find during the weekend .otherwise just enjoy 😉 your day mate .

We love Congwong closest beach to the Mediterranean, however it needs to be cleaned more often sometimes there is a lot of debris on the sand.

What a great spot! It was my first time exploring, and I'll certainly be back. It's hard to comprehend that this little gem is close to the city, and dare I say this, far more impressive than Bondi. Lot's of locals out walking their loved canines so turned into a very social walk. Remember, you can't take your dog onto the National Park beach, just the allocated dog friendly beach. Enjoy and appreciate the natural beauty of Sydney

(4.5 stars) Congwong Beach, a secluded spot in the Kamay Botany Bay National Park, near its nudie next door neighbour Little Congwong, is a stunning virtually waveless beach suitable for families or in our case, snorkeling! Get there early (before 930am) to grab one of the free 4-hour parks on the headland that overlooks it, then walk down the 125 metre path to discover its golden sand glory. The water is cleaner and clearer than most of the bay, as you can see the open ocean past the heads, but the swell doesn’t make it into this corner. It was worth bringing the goggles to check out the abundance of sea life a short distance from the shore. We saw many species of fish, some in large schools & even some little squid that did their cute squid dance in front of you before rocketing off into the wild green yonder. The views are great, including of the nearby historic Bare Island fort, in fact all the La Perouse heritage in this locale means there’s actually some good places to eat or grab coffee close by. Sadly there are no showers but there is a toilet block near the car parking. Time to drive home salt-encrusted!

Nice and calm beach not too crowded water it’s crystal clear view it’s amazing great place for families and friends to spend a day but recommend taking tent as not much shaded area toilets facilities available too and parking literally right up to the sand but it paid parking $10 per hour and beautiful sunrise cafe 🍵 located around the corner of the beach food its amazing and very fresh

Warriewood Beach is a beautiful, quieter spot on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The golden sand and clear waters make it perfect for a relaxing day out, whether you’re swimming, surfing, or just soaking up the sun. It’s less crowded than other beaches, which adds to its charm. A great place for a peaceful beach day!

Great little beach popular with surfers, swimmers and sunbakers. The Sunrise café is located at the southern end of the beach and worth checking out.

A secluded but easy to access beach with amazing headland walks. Good toilet facilities.

Brilliant surfing beach, with amazing rights off the southern point (and an easy rip to get out). Perfect beach when there is a heavy southerly wind that will make other beaches uncomfortable. There is a fantastic cafe overlooking the bay, and there is a public bathroom on the beach. Parents with small kids take care as there is usually a gutter when entering the water.

Cute little beach, but certainly not "Sydney's best" lol. Lovely long shallows so great spot for inexperienced swimmers. Be aware that if you come shortly after heavy rains there will be plenty of rubbish washed on shore. Did not see the little penguins but didn't search too hard either. Would come again mid week, not worth fighting the traffic on The Spit for this 😎 No dogs

Great beach. Ice cream boat comes in summer. Busy but not as busy as other beaches. Bring umbrella and sunscreen as not much shade.

This is an extremely beautiful, low populated beach. I snuck off from my wife & kids and had a tug off the side of the cliff watching the people swimming and it was 10/10. I would highly recommend this beach to anyone travelling around Australia!

Collins Beach is a quiet lovely little place hidden few minutes away from the main scene at Manly Beach. Which makes it perfect to go for a chill day with family while enjoying a little privacy away from the crowd. Definitely suits family with kids as the water is very calm. However, there’s no public toilet and wash room to clean up and get rinsed after swimming. This place is accessible through a walking track from the southern end of Stuart Street and is around 10min walk from the closest parking. The view is amazing and really enjoyable. There’s also access to the jump rock at the walking trail. Definitely one of my favourite places to visit whenever I am at Manly.
