It’s hard to find a vegan donut place with fluffy non-baked textured donuts. This place had 5 vegan ones to choose from. It was recommended we come before noon in case the vegan ones sell out, but you can call ahead and ask for them too (which is a great option, but we just went in before 11am and took the risk). These donuts taste like and have the texture of proper donuts. I got the cookie crumble chocolate filled donut, the passion fruit glaze and the plain glazed donuts. The burrito was $13 and was mostly eggs. It was supposed to come with refried beans but I guess they forgot to add them. I got halfway through the burrito before even getting to the pico de gallo, which also had some bits of potato in it which wasn’t on the menu description. My friend and I both ordered coffee and food (she ordered pancakes) and we sat down but they packaged all of our food to go. I guess it was wrong of me to assume that ordering food meant we were staying (pancakes are a weird item to take to go, but I guess that’s just me) so my food was wrapped up in a comical amount of packaging to take away, which I supposed ended up being better for us since they started filming a mayoral candidate interview taking up half the cafe. It would have been nice if they had informed the paying customers what was happening but instead they just made it a weird thing. Too many other coffee shops in Astoria to return to one with just a mid (if not bad) experience.
